14 players who could get long-term contracts this week
"We're going to start off the last segment talking about. Deadlines as Their short time remaining for long term contracts with the deadline for franchise tag players to work out. long-term deals is now less than a week away. As Wednesday at four PM Eastern Standard Time draws near that is the deadline for any club that designated a franchise player to sign, said player to a multi year contract, following Wednesday tag player cannot signed an extension until after the final game upcoming regular season, and thus far of the fourteen players tag ten have signed their tenders and none have agreed to long term contracts so. With the economic uncertainty, due to unpredictable future amid the COVID, nineteen pandemic NFL insider Ian. rapoport reported Friday that it appears as if several will be playing on their one year deals including Tampa Bay Edge Shaq, Barrett. Washington Guard bread and sheriff in Jacksonville Pass, rusher, Nick In jock, who so? Those who are remaining to sign their tags are Djakou Denver Safety Justin Simmons Cincinnati Wide Receiver Green, and Chiefs Defensive Lineman Chris Jones. We talked about earlier, so the players who have signed their franchise tender is deck press got of course for thirty one million dollars temp Tennessee's Derrick Henry for ten million Hunter Henry sign through ten point six. Joe Sunni in New England sign fourteen point eight for his franchise tenure Washington. Brennan Sarah Sign Fifteen million. Of the franchise fourteen, each of them had their own story, but as a whole few seemed destined for long-term signings, many seem to have some contention with the tag and lease who are filling filing grievances regarding the position that they were designated ad

"You my opinion on this the other night I just want to ask you one question about it and then I'll move on I live here they were on it Joe Douglas he just got here I'm not put he's cleaning up someone else's mess but for whatever reason he was unable either chose not to or was unable to get Conklin or pull off a trade for Trent Williams so they kind of were forced to take to tackle in the first round back then maybe maybe not a guarantee but maybe it could have come into play I think they want to fortify the line it's quite possible they could have signed one of those guys enjoy rafted backed in it made that strike that much greater but again what we talked about this yesterday I have no problem with the jets go one line in the first round I really don't well here's my question and then I'll move on ask about some of the middle round picks sure without getting one of those two tackles that I just mentioned would they be a better offense and a better team right now with Trent Williams Jerry Judy and men's or just managed in back then that's what they end up losing if they could've pulled off getting Conklin or Trent Williams yes they would have been a better team they did not go the extra mile for Conklin the Cleveland Browns stayed and you never know with the player's preference may happen and Jack Conklin was getting you know courted by every team in the league so I'm sure the jets been apply the Miami Dolphins I know made a play and Google went above and beyond they got on when it comes to Trent Williams L. I gotta be honest I get the sense a team like the Niners which is going to be far more aggressive in pursuing him because of where he's at in his career trend Williams to me is not a guy that is going to help you with python three years from now and you and I both know well you put Trent Williams on the jets they're better team they still in my opinion not wanted seven best teams in the AFC and they're still not a playoff team so in many ways get a guy like Williams it's not necessarily going to coincide with the prime of your quarterback and the problem is is correct is that makes sense I still you want to be like well I agree we want Conklin Conklin is in the prime of his career I can't say that about Trent Williams to meet Trent Williams is a guy who I think for a year can be you know we tackle but I think two or three years from now Trent Williams is going to be guide serious decline I I think that just because you're not ready to win a Superbowl doesn't mean you don't try to get better but my main point was I think the team about ten times better on paper right now if they did that is that what they did but beyond that I'm I'm gonna move on to some other points okay okay so the the pick they got from the giants for for Leonard Williams it was early third round pick unless I'm not knocking any of the players they drafted this is more about the needs of the team to take a safety there first of all letter I'm so disappointed what happened with the the whole way that letter Williams thing played out first of all they let him go basically it was a disappointing player but he was a solid good player would you agree yeah not a guy would re signed you're always gonna Williams but not well more I'm disappointed as they need it was a it was kind of a money issue they didn't want to pay him a lot of money they didn't spend the money anyway and then I don't like the safety in the third out period there's the they have two safeties well I think this is kind of indicative of what they think the markets may this regime may have commented that markets may is not gonna be here that we don't like on that we're not a believer in his talent so I think it's either one or two things it's the idea of markets may not be in here which Amal Adams out being here and I don't buy the idea Jamal Adams is going to go I think they're gonna find a way to pay them well so for me and from my standpoint this is far more markets may down the road you might be a goner all right yeah so I mean I I I I could see that but you don't worry about that new year there's they have other needs who cares who your second safety we don't have any we still will be fair they dressed a lot it needs in this draft my biggest critique with the jets he's not going and getting a second wide receiver somebody like Tyler Johnson who ended up going to Tampa Bay in the fifth round that to me is what you can get on Joe Douglas for making that decision as opposed to let's say going with a backup quarterback well I I think that if anything is your biggest NIT pick of this draft that's where I was going next a backup quarterback if the if things are going well for the jets next year Sam Darnold need to play sixteen games first of all what fourteen fifteen I would agree right that's fair so so if they could take a lesson from the giants giants had a lot of needs in and I believe back to back drafts spent third and fourth round picks on Davis Webb and Kyle Lauletta useless players that never played a snap wasn't they just cannot take a quarterback Derek in it you know what I you cannot take a punter either I don't I don't care if he does I'll be honestly I got for a bigger issue with taking a backup quarterback in full from that I do with the bonus extra you think the point is going to be a big time punter for you as a leader in these you know could be a weapon I'm cool with that I don't have much of an issue that quarterback in the fourth round one or other receivers on the board that to me is a miss type of pack you know that's what I like to have back what's said to Long Island Anthony joins us he's on CBSSports ready I can't take it away Hey don't all right double J. you hit the big time man and that's looking into your national to Jonny Evans about big names here what do you try to do it trying to confuse everybody what's happening now well first of all the most I mean you had a chance to be a folk hero in front and then in a part of a national audiences have to know that you can find out let me just pay you five dollars to get in on those phone calls when those late night shows may come on I'll give you don't let me don't kill the messenger I don't scream at you I think I screen the calls answering the calls nine I I've never blamed you JJ J. a brawl come on now you are you always surrounded me with welcome wagon I could tell you that much unless it would have been fine here with the draft and everything the jets I mean that the offense of linemen this guy took a delisting at three seventy five whatever it is I mean I think he took that forty yard dash dog running downhill if you didn't five five seconds but the thing that really scares me these guys young guys they they just get better is he going to be four hundred I'm going to be looking at a four hundred pound left tackle in the in the NFL I mean to be awesome if you know the jets get it was with the jets need an offense and won the Serbs their missile has to be protected this is the third year now we're gonna start have to you know start running the the line potential out the window right time I'm with you thousand percent appreciate the call up against it Sam Darnold next year's gonna grow.
Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams signs franchise tender but final compensation in limbo
"League the giants offensive tackle Leonard wins a signed his franchise tender here's the question is he gonna be compensated as a defensive end or defensive tackle that's according to a report by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter wins let's be listed as a defensive end it would be more lucrative for him if that were the case because the franchise tag with defensive tackle sixty point one million this year the franchise tag with defensive end is seventy point eight million can't blame a brother tried the expiration expectation is that Williams will file a

"Seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six we give all the Twitter is well at the PD mag Danielle McCarten will follow at two o'clock I've got one more hour would be here as we will review all of their football Tuesday on new year's eve what what better day to wrap up losing football you're in New York and spit it out try to be done with it then new year's eve and then a fresh start in theory today but as we know for the jets and especially the giants the start is in all of that fresh especially with Dave gatal been returning as the general manager and what Dave Gelman's goal was today I think was too full one it's to tell the fans that he has a bead on what's happening convince the fan base that he is the right guy going forward and one of the big knocks on Gelman has been a reluctance to embrace analytics he is mocked it openly in the past a couple years backwards mocking computers and he said today that that was used against them by the media but you said it that was that was your public attitude towards any kind of elixir to get all the way of looking at the game of football and it can't just be Hey this is what's worked in the past decades ago years ago because it doesn't always hold true as the rules change which is a big factor in football and the game does involving people come up with different ideas schemes that might have some success sometimes the only flash in the pan right you'll see a whole lot of successful wild cats anymore but there are things the gig it got to be up and they do change within the game and that's again a monadic if it's one of the fan base and then to perspective at coaches so that they believe that he has the right vision so they have confidence to come here and don't think well two years from now bold me and Dave get on it might be out of a job that's what they've got on had a commenced people of today and I'm sorry it failed he really struggled with it Hey Dave government a given this same press conference in the middle of the season I don't think you'd still be the general manager but the giants have committed to him I wasn't a glowing endorsement from John marrow on Monday basically it was while he's batting average has to pick up and they get all these brought in a new system and they didn't want to rock the boat they didn't want to make that kind of change in the organization maybe it's easier to remove the head coach you pluck them out you put in the new one is it change your whole organization it changes your game day schemes things like that the judge general manager changes your scouting you're what you're going to do for the draft how you evaluate your players players around the league players in college there's a a whole boatload of information that all changes again amended stole the process after two years of making those changes in any expressed as much today especially with that word in the process of that process process of that process he I used that were rebooting right I dont chided slip in like a a technological word right somebody who is maybe not all that technologically savvy throwed something and that's can be computer based but you know the nagas ban by the analytics is he valued the right positions the positions that are important in the game in twenty nineteen and going into a new decade of twenty twenty even the computer stuff which is really the analytics the way they get all men discussed it and it didn't make it sound like a guy who's got his head wrapped around all of this we've hired for computer folks software and we are completely redoing our back end of a college and pro scouting systems I mean they're they're analytics or they are analysts they are software developers that they're not computer guys they're not computer people in that you know it in you are leading a multi billion dollar company you have to be able to speak the language a little bit and understand what's happening and look if Dave government is doing more than giving lip service here and he is as he said evaluating what he's done right what he's done wrong you're trying to change all the credit to him I I don't wanna Margaret vis try and he's trying to convince you that he's trying today I know that much is true a into a very good job of convincing you but if he's trying to pick up all these things that's great but what we've seen in the past Dave Gelman AZ stubborn arrogant any thinks he knows the way and we had this has not had the success over the last two years to back that up many had to convince you that he's the right guy going forward thank you take the giants were they need to go and it's not as if his first two years have been awful not gonna not the track record he's hit on his first round picks for the most part a Daniel Jones looks like the future quarterback of the giants I'd be ecstatic about empire a giants fan and credit to Gelman he bucked the trend that wasn't just take the best quarterback on the board that everybody else sees and by so doing Haskins is that top guy a government got killed for taking Daniel Jones any looks terrific for right now that was the job saving move they get a man was able to make but there is explaining Leonard Williams to you and why give up a third round pick to get a look and Leonard Williams you don't know what Leonard Williams is is a Leonard Williams that good a player in two days here game what where Williams doesn't stop the run he hasn't sack the quarterback is not a pass rusher never racks up sacks so if you just bring in a run stopper and you're giving up a third round pick and you're gonna have to pay him big money or fairly big money this off season because later Williams has you by the you know what have you traded for you can't let him walk in free agency now you're gonna have to I think over bay for Williams at top of it all and he just needs not impact player it's not a game is not won and lost in the trenches with the run game anymore Lamar Jackson the exception to the rule you pass to get ahead of your run to win but you have to get ahead you have to have the lead no se Kwan Barkley the big games that he had down the stretch does against the giants leads they're able to give him the ball twenty twenty five times we'll get some reason the games you wonder why do they always get away from Barkley the second half because our don't two scores back not helping you come from behind not often specially multiple scores regard disappearance because you can't be run the ball the clock managed to get past way back into it so what's your plan for my head that's what the running back should be the last piece that you add when your team is really good and you have late leads now running back in ice skates boy absolutely has a purpose not say anything running backs are useless here but if the giants are building something along the way draft in the running back and bring him in first doesn't make a whole lot of sense and that's where you worry about getting to be too worried about the run game defensively defensively when it just it doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to it has a purpose not saying you don't run the ball at all you totally get away from it but it's not your focus can't be now the jets struck the ground and pound now which could be out physical offense never won anything not only Sanches whistling at those few Gezi had some success doing that they're trying to run Thomas Jones four hundred times into the line and wasn't working Hey great off its allies as if they could run the ball just it didn't result in a lot of points help their defense play low scoring games fine but it doesn't vault due to greatness yeah the top teams over the years the golf swing and they all run the ball and the pass the ball and moving through the air and come from behind if they have to you have to be able to do those things eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six yeah that's a good so tough to stop now because the way the rules have changed so you have to be able to do that and it's far more efficient been running the ball and that's that's where the Gelman couldn't convince you today that ease up on those things you just because he sat down with an analytics guy doesn't mean he buys in and can incorporate those things that the what the giants could do going forward eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six dot of free old starts up tonight up don what we are down to the analytics again I mean if you look back over the course of the last twelve years what team hasn't been playing or looking at analytics it is the new to the game government I mean it's not you know is a ton of football but I just like I said I wonder if he's up on how it has evolved in a he didn't convince anybody of that today well it's one thing if you listen to what he was saying are you know during his press conference it makes me so mad because he wasn't taking accountability for anything he said hi hi maintain culpability that's all he said but then when you went into getting into the bullet points about what was important about the culpability it was we we we we we there was nothing about what he said that with me me me when it should have been I met up here I looked up your Highness and he wouldn't admit to it yeah and then that's certainly it take what I didn't think he came across as arrogant today's he has in the past but I mean look he never talked he said he felt sorry for Pat Shurmur take all those bowl to talk to the media every single day they've Gelman could help them out with that never did never spokes its training camp correct point he never ever back to back Schumer during his during his term I mean this is what I'm talking about never taking responsibility and that's also guys survive and appreciate the call don only the other part of it for gaming we talk a bit to the fan base on the you did that did he convince a perspective coach.
Leonard Williams maintains optimism ahead of Sunday's game
"As those jets prep to visit buffalo giants host the eagles on Sunday big blue defensive and Leonard Williams aware the Phillies had his team's number lately psychologically if you let it creep and it could possibly happen but overall I don't think you know you're subjected to the you know the lesser of the team just because of the record you know I mean you could still overcome those those

"He was filling in today's already we're not going to make you do with the seven guy we're going to let's go back to the phone Victor is in Englewood Victor what's on your mind Hey how do I call you got about so I just want to bring up a point not as much a question the Leonard Williams trade I think he was actually pretty not just beaten you very good yesterday did you watch the game I watched what what what did one Williams back in that game you played well against the run played well in the run and he came over what is most impactful point one was making a game park can you take one no he got penetration one time we push somebody wonderful and I think you can hear you heard around a talk about he plays tall so you play at all what does that mean I don't know he plays long doesn't like that one better than you guys to try to make it don't know this is what what what we want we talk about inside guy and when you take a guy six overall I mean you haven't seen later Williams looked like Honda works in look right he hasn't shown you flat that rejoicing showed you he hasn't shown you the flashes that you expect from a interior linemen this pick sixth overall he hasn't shown you the impact plays the sack totals the forced fumbles build things of that sort right there so we're not saying he's not a good player Regis and he's not worthy of receiving a hundred million dollar contract ended up at third and potentially a fourth round pick in the process I think it's one thing if your team like the Steelers even though everybody thought that was an over actual make it fits Patrick now you look at making fits Patrick got to Canada for defensive player of the year last year with the cowboys I didn't particularly like the Amari Cooper trade at the time but you know what you see was this more true for them they were in it and she had a chance to do something and it helped them the giants were to win what five six when they traded for one will listen two examples or first round picks treated hands I mean this is a third round pick so I feel like the stakes were a little bit lower but players can you give money factor we are better point is the one about make if it's Patrick because he's still under contract for I believe two more years before you have to pay more as Leonard Williams you could just be a form of the end of the year just wait here's the thing do you really think the price is gonna get driven up so high a letter Williams when you have a free agent class what that is stacked from top to bottom then this is not going to be of a place of deficiency in the off season if anything Leonard Williams is just a piece it is not valid guy and so for that do you want to pay a bar I don't know about a hundred million I don't know if you're gonna switch asking price is for the position right because remember eighty eight letter to god landing Collins got eighty five there in in the price to say these are way lower than the tags are suppose the impact players you think it's only a hundred I mean germ McCoy you look at your local every poll right all right but doesn't say still gonna ask for you know me in the market is that right he that'll take you think he's making fourteen million dollars a year now you think I'll take less than forty man of the year I totally get that million dollar you top player she's not fourteen pounds when you watch him you know that you won't give it to him I know that listen I I mean he's not a better player Michael Bennett.

"Are ready to serve all of your islander needs worries lighthouse hockey podcasts for New York islanders fans show presented by SP nation and right now we're going to be discussing trade deadline news as most of us were expecting the New York giants resellers of their veteran pieces and a lot of the players that are taking up a lot of money and not really playing up to their potential but it turns out the very first I think that they chose to do on Monday was a Leonard Williams trade training for the defensive Lineman from the jets who's the former six the overall pick so very unexpected not something that you or I were were really thinking what happened we were kind of joking that we was just banter and in a ended up going through the the deal ended up being made yeah and it was not a cheap deal from the giants respective twenty twenty third round pick twenty twenty one conditional fifth round pick that becomes a fourth round pick if the giants signed him to a contract that is that's considerable draft capital for a player you have basically eight games to decide whether or not you want it him to be in your future Williams Innings Gordon Interior Defensive Linemen COMPLA- the five techniques in three men front complained that three technique in a four man front he's a good athlete not not Aaron Donald Crazy good but you semi nights percentile in forty yard dash odd fifty second percentile in vertical fifty six in broad jump uh sixty s percentile on three cone seventy four th percentile in the short shuttle so he can move and he's a better athlete than any of the NFL the giants other defensive lineman maybe not maybe not at the same size speed combination is Dexter Dexter Lawrence or meeting court the same power is B.j Hill but just as a pure athlete team is now the best athletes on the giants defensive line unfortunately he hasn't really lived up to that sixth overall pick agree that he's had which is why he was available and why the jets weren't working out a long term extension for him now can he be worth the third and a fourth while that's what we get the next eight games to find out just to put a little bit of context on what Leonard Williams is like as a player in who exactly is he's six five hundred and two pounds like I said former sixth overall pick and as far as his career stats he's got two hundred and forty career tackles thirty two tackles for loss seventeen sacks and ninety quarterback hits so not an overly productive guy despite being as good of an athlete as he is and a player that was considered to be a top level prospect I remember at the beginning of the college football season before the hit the the year that he was drafted came around there was a lot of conversation of him being a first overall pick and then he started to slide down after some injury issues since then he's been not extremely productive and I think that it's still is worth noting that he is a good defensive players good defensive lineman he can draw attention he can create blooms I saw a video on twitter that somebody posted of him pancake king and flattening quitting Nelson so he's explosive it just doesn't seem like it all clicked and went there he can be a presence on the defensive line but the real question is then was a defensive Lineman a player that the giants needed to go out of their way to trade for and spend draft capital on when there are some other significant issues on this team I think is the question and you can spin it forward in say wars this draft capital worth really locking yourself into spending renascent money on another defensive lineman the giants have three good ones right now three good young players in Dobbin Tomlinson EJ hill and Dexter Lawrence they also have Ulsan Pierre who has been playing well yet he's not a starter but he is a solid rotational piece you know when they go in to a nickel set he can create some disruption on the inside so nothing against Leonard Williams as a player but I'm kind struggling to see the thought process behind making this trade other than he is a player the giants already knew they were going to a target in free agency so they wanted to make sure they had the opportunity to negotiate with him I get a look at him in there defense which I think if we want to see how they're gonNA use him maybe go back and look at how James Better use Campbell at Arizona that I think is probably the most likely most likely the archetype for how he is going to fit in the giants defense but just as far as the with all of their other needs their needs on the offensive line there needs in the secondary there needed linebacker the it's confusing that they weren't after another defensive tackle it really is a questionable move in a lot of fans out there right now are are wondering what the thought process here was and we're really trying to figure it out and understand what were they thinking on I think your take on them trying to get to get him in as quickly as possible meal to negotiate with them sooner and have him as a part of this defense was ultimately their goal oh that James Becher does and also Dave gettleman does value big defensive lineman that he can use up the middle you don't exactly need in overly explosive premier pass rusher in James bechers defense because he cl creates a lot of pressures through blitzes and through his outside linebackers like Marcus Golden Lorenzo quarter which we've seen improving over the past eight weeks so it does not really make a ton of sense move because of the other major issues that the giants need to go make moves four in addition to the fact that they need to retain as much draft capitals possible but I'm GonNa try to be a bit optimistic about it and see what he can do under a new coach under a new defensive coordinator and see what James Metric can do with him and potentially scheme him some pressures and some opportunities before it can really assume that this was a poor decision and that I think is going to be just the way to approach this watch watchmen blames the next couple of weeks after the bye he kind of gets used to the defense terminology the play was just all of that because he can create disruption we saw that with the ninth quarterback hits he doesn't finish on the quarterback all that often which is why he has such a low sack total really only averaging like three year in the tape I have watched him today it does seem like just the short area quickness to finish at the quarterback after he beat to blocker is the that seems to be the hang up for him so we will see if just how he gets used in James Becher defense as opposed to the jets defense this ear and under Todd Bowles last couple years just seeing how that changes a lot could change because you'll be under some different coaching he had different defensive coordinators his time I believe he had more than that but he two different head coaches in his time with the jets it's going to be a different environment for him a new start for him the talent is there and we've seen plenty of flares that were drafted highly didn't really pan out that ended up going to a new place the new location in finally clicked and it worked out for him so maybe that does happen here maybe Leonard Williams does have a revitalization and an improvement in the giants you decide to resign him the final question I think some people are wondering though is where does he fitness lineup at this giants team that has three talented young defensive line I'm in with Alvin Tomlinson with BJ Hill and also with Dexter Lawrence their rookie first round draft pick also appear in the rotation so where do you really think he fits in the defensive line rotation I'm thinking he is one of their starting defensive ends he is not a nose tackle the best nose tackle is definitely Dalvand Tomlinson when you talked about him at length I think the last couple of shows I wouldn't be is if he dumps BJ held back to being a depth player as opposed to a starter yet over the last two weeks hill has seen his snap count drop against Arizona he only had nineteen saps against Detroit you only had twenty nine that's down from playing about sixty percent of the giants defensive snap against Minnesota and New England so it could be no he's kind of falling out of favor he hasn't been really producing he doesn't at the APP thinking is about twenty five or twenty tackles on the season so far he doesn't have any sacks so making the giants want a more active player at defensive end spot across from Dexter Lawrence in next to doubt Tomlinson and then he can also stay on the field and coldplay generate some interior pass rush when the giants go to a nickel set maybe their goal is to push BJ Hill more into that rotational sub package guy and get them using MS almost a breather guy and having Leonard Williams is that starting defensive end so we're going to take a very quick commercial break and then when we back we're going to discuss some other potential trade candidates hey I'm Spencer Hall I'm Holly Anderson I'm Ryan Nanny I'm Jason Kirk and we the host of the shutdown forecast your avengers of college football podcast it says in the script into riff on what that means and basically what is this all already spoiled every Tuesday we talk about everything from cooking disasters pro where now if you want to take college football exactly as seriously as it should be taken subscribe for free on Apple podcasts or in your favorite podcast APP so to wrap things up for this spin off uh-huh that we're doing because of the trade deadline and the randomness of the the move that happened with Leonard Williams we're just GonNa take a quick look at some of the meaning trade candidates because one thing that we've learned under Dave gettleman is that literally anything is possible anyone can get traded anyone kitten can get moved don't get too attached to anyone because they're willing to make a move with anyone if it means getting the necessary capital of the necessary pieces to build a that he envisions so Chris what are some of the potential movers in some of these are are pretty much expected right now so what what what are some of the potential is that could be sold before the trade deadline I definitely expecting born of the giants high priced veterans if not more than one to be moved need to create some room even with the jets Paleo most of learn Williams remaining salary the dining to create some cap room they need to create roster spot so trading one of these guys probably would do that we've mentioned generous Jenkins a few times already he seems like an obvious one the teams that are expecting to be contenders always needing more help in the "I Jan for the pats falls on the right Hash browns fourteen change whites back in the pocket critic odd handelman he's worked coverage seizes quarterbacks trouble awesome performance by the pages but I think it is great edit coincided with Bill Belichick forces you to play almost like a mistake free game to beat them year coaches Utah you do something that gives them opportunities in the seas on those opportunities he is Horford teams to avoid beat themselves especially when they played the Patriots talk about the next day and so I remember reading duckie's when he came in and said the Patriots Take Care of fourteen bucks right they don't beat themselves and that's not the type you work with Trent dilfer along and this is fascinating to me Joyce the most time up their their combined record right now thirty three and six here the about this in college in two thousand nineteen this season do you know how many culture as well as anybody in the seven on seven world that we live in in junior high in high school l. and now you've got a quarterback putting his back to you and you don't know are they running the ball is it play action well off play action it is there is no mystery to me that the teams that are under run game is to Alice Gibbs system outside zone stretch movement base Oh ball works is because you talked about the shotgun and all these defense coordinators putting you have these two hundred and fifteen to twenty pound linebackers that aren't used to taking is also a reason why the running game is beginning to come back to prominence in the national football league you're can run game play action which is why they're really really successful two things I'll add to that they certainly had last year Sony Michelle Twenty one carries on seventy four yards and he had a the browns what did you love about what pretty kitchens was doing with the browns right get into acute old school football continues to work in the national football I just surprised more teams This two of those first three drives so that that's an interesting point to make and wanted to follow I went to the gone wince gives it off again and aw I feel rushing touchdown bow centers just brakes taste so explosive time he hit the whole Harry difference makers will often talk about quarterbacks pass rushers you know the difference maker for this eagles team of yards on one running play he is phenomenal and he's kind of the guy that makes that whole thing Doug Peterson ability to his decision to recommit to the running game helps think for so long coaches get enamored with quarterbacks and they wanna give them more and active and really this team plays better because they also masked the deficiencies travels absolutely all right what are you going next book man with the the last year with Andrew Luck they are more balanced team they have the running game working they have a defense he understands how to insert himself in and out of the game based on what they needed we way I don't know but I do know they're very efficient effective team and they're one of those.

"Running game stifling defense. I don't know how good the quarterback is and we didn't really get a chance to see it in this game but we're talking about the posits two hundred rushing yards. They are able to really jam jam. It Down People's throats and the way that they were able to do it against the Carolina Panthers Defense that I thought was pretty good was very very impressive. If they're able to continue to run the ball like like this in dictate the terms with their defense playing like they're playing. They continue to have the party. That we saw breakout Levi stadium. Because because it was all fun it was all giggles. It was everything. It was a celebration at the panthers experience. But they're gonNA have a lot of days like this would have run a gave it a defense playing. They're playing guys. It was funny. I was on the plane with the chargers coming back. And I'm watching the forty niners game and I see both his his pick so joey just twenty feet ahead of me so I just go walking up the plane age or your brother just had to pick. He Goes Nikki at a pick. I go you know. He's got three sacks ax. Just pick he goes you. Can I sit so I pulled up on my phone and I show it to them and It was so funny he just looked at it. You could definitely tell. He's a proud brother but he just kind of jokingly Said said is all enjoy what a jerk I have my best game of the season now does this and completely overshadows me. Rivers rivers jumps in and rivers skills. Man Joe your brother runs exactly like you. Do they feel it looks it. Looks like the exact same human being. It was funny because Joey Botha was dominate. I think at four tackles for loss two sacks and then goes out has three sacks pick. I mean it's it's hard to have a better family than that one. That was that was fun. I Watch I did Game Day highlights last night so I was watching that game leading up to the show and Just I mean Bosa just dominated and then the forty niners dominated in the run game. mm-hmm Tevin Coleman my goodness four total touchdowns on the day. He was inspired by the hoosiers. Getting a big win over Nebraska. Six two on the season. Look Look Big Day for the hoosiers. And in four Tevin Coleman as well. I mean that run game in San Francisco is about as good as it gets in the League right now. Absolutely look dominant Ranga. I can tell you play against desk. Shanahan run game before when the original Dad Mike Shanahan was endeavoring yet. TD running. It is problematic because they get all the linemen run like elephants on parade and then running-backs are able to cut back because they chop down the backside. So it's problematic is physical is intimidating and right now they have so much confidence in the ground game. It really the opens up the rest of the playbook and look even though Jimmy Garoppolo isn't playing at what I would call a high level. He's efficient enough to take advantage of defense overplaying. The run which is why the forty niners office is really so hard too difficult to defend. All right drew me to take the next one here. Let's do it. Let's go magic with a few tricks. Left burning from the eight. Meant you dropped the throw. You look scrambled to his right. Look pump fake you still look. You'll look five four the old buddy. HR touchdown shark attack. A quarter of the end zone suggest nearly all the old shark attack like that one. Yeah so so look say about Gartner Menchu Week. Six six and seven after taking the League by storm the mustache and everything and coming in for Nick foles in really doing a nice job for the Jaguars the last two weeks. You started to be like okay when Nick foles comes back. It's you know it's probably going to be time. This thing might have run. Its course then. He gets a date with the jets. And he absolutely took advantage three touchdown on passes in this game. I mean he's got more multiple touchdown games than any Jaguars Rookie quarterback in franchise history. He's got five games like that. And and this is the first rookie with three plus passing touchdowns but he is tied with Russell Wilson for the most extended play assing touchdowns sounds which means he's finding ways to get out of pressure scramble. Get a touchdown and it's still find a way to make a positive play and that is what's most impressive to me about Menchu you and if he can keep this up you know. Nick foles not eligible till their week. Eleven game which is right after a buy week so I don't know maybe they're still a decision to be made in Jacksonville. It's GonNa be hard to pull them away. They're playing and I know that Nick foles offer more because he can do. More things Atlanta scrimmage however. Nick foles is most comfortable when he's able to play had the shotgun Leonard Fournette and the rest of the team operates better when they have more of a traditional under center style so Doug Marrone has to make a decision. What is best for the entire team team? Is it best for us to go back and do something to spread stuff. That makes our top big money quarterback comfortable or is it better for the rest of Gaza have low price quarterback that plays into center and has developed galloped rhythm and chemistry with the rest of the guys tough decision for him to make. But I think is one that we're going to see may made very very soon. Yeah he's made plays on on time and off schedule. I know those off schedule throws a lot of the highlights and the place to watch. But there's also times you see meant you hang in there and deliver the ball the one thing that jumps out to me and I think maybe you could come up with this information based off of his wardrobe but there's no fear yes absolutely none and it's fun to watch thirteen touchdowns two picks ex- boys. That's pretty darn good year. That is really really good. Book the pages. Just take a business I Jan for the pats walls on the right Hash browns fourteen change whites back to receivers right three love Brady takes. The step looks over. The middle of the pump dances in the pocket. Now he starts to voters right to the end zone touchdown patriots pocket. Great composer by the quarterback Cam. Tuck it underneath. Thanks export drills slides left such back up out there right. Saad God he's working coverage seizes quarterbacks trouble breaks his route fights ATTITU- can't defend it. When you give this Guy Tom Fourteen yard touchdown you know when you watch this game? I don't I don't think it was a very impressive performance by the pages but I think it is great at it coincided with Bill Belichick shaken his three hundred th win and I think the reason. Why is because when you look at this team this is a team that is consistent? And I think they're consistency forces forces you to play almost like a mistake. Free game to beat them year coaches all the time. Say Look make the other team beat you. They will eventually make mistakes. And when I look at the Patriots they just wait for you to fall apart. You Kinda stumble over your own self you stub Utah. You do something that gives them opportunities in the seas on those opportunities for Bill Belichick to get the three hundred wins. I think what he has done is really mastered a recipe of being able to win and the best way to win is a not beat yourself. It we're seeing. He is Horford teams to avoid beat themselves especially when they played the Patriots. Take the take the listeners behind the curtain here a little bit you know we all have. I have a group text message when we're saying what takeaways we WANNA WE WANNA WE WANNA talk about the next day and so I remember reading Bucky when he came in and said the Patriots Take Care of business. It was still the third quarter. Buck Louise there. We control the game was over up. Fourteen fourteen bucks right. They don't beat themselves and that's not the type of game that they were going to give up. You know what I mean. I've always I WANNA I wanNA give you one point on this game. Buck our mutual friend Joe Roberts who does a lot of work with Trent dilfer along and this is fascinating to me. Joey great obviously right. You know him as well as the top. Five league leaders right and snaps under center so teams aren't the gun teams that are quarterback under center the top five teams spend the most time up their their combined record right now. Thirty three and six here are the teams that are under center the most in the national football league the Vikings the forty niners the rams rams the Patriots and the saints and this this is the correlation here. Think about this in college in two thousand nineteen this season. Do you know how many snaps the percentages and college football being under center. It's ten point two percent hanes or sense kids that ten percent so these kids and Bucky knows this culture as well as anybody in the seven on seven world that we live in in junior high in high school and in college it spread city baby and so you defense your defensive coordinator at speed and spread and shotgun and run to space and now all of a sudden you get in the NFL and now you've got a quarterback putting his back to you and you don't know are they running the ball. Is it play action. And I've got linemen coming at me then you can mix in a little bit of even some of the RPO stuff from under center. These guys don't know how to fit against a run. They don't know how to react well off play action it is. There is no mystery to me that the teams that are under center having tremendous success right now in the NFL gray point Dj. And I'm GONNA take it. Even further by looking at the vikings forty nine is in rams all have a similar run. Game is to Alex Gibbs System outside zone stretch movement base base bootlegs coming off of their run action very successful The Patriots in the saints are communities. They can change it up the reason why this brand of Football Oh bowl works is because you talked about the shotgun and all these defense coordinators.

"Viadana kicked by Eddie Pineyro kick he's up no good smug left and the chargers and real quick just a quick reaction to that I hate bag on the kickers but was there to me the king of the game guys yeah go ahead what was going to say if the chargers would have had a game when he kick when when I looked at his game and I'm watching this game and I just thought it would make either team lawlessly over the course of the game for the underscore touchdowns and then their quarterback look I mean people have Matt Nagy can do but they have to do something because I feel he walks this game it was red zone defense for the chargers that bail them out because the bears had people that you'll hear that think it's all Trubisky's people think it's all Nagy's fault to me there's a lack of confidence three colon two yards it's a give play on third nine not even trying to attack score we've got to get on the ball quick spike and kick the field goal from the one yard line or is to enagage chose I would rather have one chance with the run game versus two chances with the passing on that one Buck you got here waiter separate postal picks it up he's reading back awesome pin drop the ball ten up forty it's better when you look at his complete game wow this season I don't know how good the quarterback is and we didn't really get a pretty good was very very impressive if they're able to continue to run the ball like because it was all fun it was all giggles it was everything it was a celebration at the panthers the back and I'm watching the forty niners game and I see boatswain's ax just pick he goes I sit so I pulled up on my phone and I show it to them and he does this and completely overshadows me rivers rivers jumps in and Botha was dominant think at four tackles for loss two sacks and then then goes out has three sacks and just I mean Bosa just dominated and then the forty niners dominated in the run game look big day for the hoosiers and in four Tevin Coleman as well I mean that run game in San Francisco running it is problematic because they get all the linemen running like elephants on parade and then the opens up the rest of the playbook and look even though Jimmy Garoppolo isn't playing at what I would call all right drew me to take a star next one here let's do it you still look you'll look five four the old buddy Jay jar touchdown one yeah so so look say about Gardner Menchu weeks six foles comes back. "It comes to blending his athleticism assim with his pocket passing skills. He has grown into quite a remarkable franchise quarterback. Yeah and one thing. I'll say a real quick on that Watson is phenomenal. No but the way that the Texans have gone out to try to support him not just on the offensive line but at running back with Carlos Hyde at running back with do Johnson. Even the latest trainer Gary Connolly he got he got targeted a few times in this game by Derek Carr got beat a couple of times it looked like I haven't watched the all twenty two yet but he stepped up on a huge plate the into the game on at third and sixteen and Russell the ball away from tyrel Williams till force a raiders point. I thought that was huge. So we're kind of seeing all these moves move to the Texans have made pay off real quick. And then we'll get to the next one my point. Just with the raiders. If you look at it right now projection based off. What he's he's done thus far this season Josh Jacobs projected to finish the season with fourteen hundred and seventeen rushing yards and touchdowns so they have their back again? Just a solid game. Amy's four point four carries just consistent on the season. He's averaging five yards a carry so he's been outstanding. The raiders definitely a big building block for their future. That's what a first first round running back looks like and I'll take us to the next takeaway. This should have been a first round wide receiver. A man of international acclaim. supercup makes history in London. Ten Ten ten are score with four minutes remaining in the half supercup emotion from the left side. It's give and now it's an end around a toss back for a flea flicker they've got throws right side appealed cooper cop with split down the right sideline he will take it down in and around. rebours talk back flea flicker six. That was unbelievable. Unbelievable play the also the move that w webb made on the ground in that play go back and watch that he looked like a Wurley. Bird's yeah watch out for the Loch Ness Turf. So here's what I say about Cooper Cup. You put it into historical context with the rams. They've had some phenomenal nominal. Receivers and that organization Isaac Bruce Torry Holt Henry Ellard a top three all-time and rams receiving yardage flipper Anderson. Not too far down the line but also has the NFL record for most receiving yards in a single game with three hundred thirty six. There was a time in this game or Cooper couples on pace to break that record. You know one hundred in the first quarter and then ended up with two twenty which is the most ever in front of an international audience in the NFL. But Cooper Cup will ah if he stays in. La Ram will end up as one of the best if not the best rams receiver with the way that he's been playing. It's absolutely no question that they're the passing game runs through Cooper Cup in every one of his receptions in this game win for either a first down or touchdown that's a clutch player. He's the key to they're passing. Offense lucky is a key to their passing offense. He's been a terrific player he is Jerry. Golf's security blanket I think the thing that we can see from the La Rams is when they play play cleaned football on offense meaning. They don't turn the ball over to have a limited amount of penalties. This team is still as good as any team in the national football league. I think Sean McVeigh has to continue to do is kind of get back to the basics as stay on track I think is easy for creative office coordinators to get a little cute and to try and do too much I think when the rams keep it simple and they keep the main thing the main thing I think we've seen this office continue to be very effective in the national football league when you play zone against the Rams you get what Oh you deserve to carve you up. Do not do it. I don't understand they stay in zone. I we're going to exile on aftermath. I'll show you three dig routes where it is. I mean it's still as Pitcher catcher ever GONNA see. It's just so easy and they just kept doing it over and over again. They kept going three by one buck and they would just just wear them out. What those dig routes in okay to me at some point? I know your zone team. You got to challenge these guys. Get up and challenge him. When you're getting torched like this you gotta get up in their face and try and challenge? They've never happened in this football game. It was bizarre. I mean the bangles are the worst total defensive football for a reason. Yeah I mean look look this is. This is all those nick. I feel like the game. The plan was flawed from the start. And you're right. DJ The blueprint is out there for how you deal with the La Rams you gotta play tough and challenged wide. Receivers at the line of scrimmage you gotTa Bring Heat Jared Golf. You cannot let him throw from Grassy Knoll and just have all day let these guys find over windows because they are carve you up and for whatever reason being that was the best approach and we saw the result two in your day for Kubrick up in a big win for the rams are. I'll keep it moving here. Boys let's Let's go onto the game. I was at the chargers. I'm going to get to my main point point. which is the red zone defense of the charges? But I do want you to hear the last play the game both the happy version and the sad version. I guess we could start out with the happy version here with Matt. Money Smith method call in euro for the win. The chargers kick his up and it is no good. The chargers win no good Pineyro Mrs and the chargers losing streak comes to an end they make just enough plays get out of Chicago with a victory. That's the happy version. Let's go sad. Version here come on operations gotta be smooth scales. Come on Eddie. Tolan Editors snap placement down viadana kicked by Eddie Pineyro kick. He's up no good. He missed it. Time expires the seventeen sixteen chargers the win was small and the chargers. Aw Game losing streak. That's not right. Thought it was good. I thought it was good. Alzheimer's good I go ahead real real quick. Just a quick reaction to that. I hate bagging on the kickers. But was there anybody watching that kick. That thought it was going to go in. I mean I'm sitting there like this. This is GonNa be the most serious thing ever swirling alright either team to me the king of the game guys. Yeah go ahead. What was going to say if the chargers would have had a game when he kicked kick we all would have thought they missed to true? Expect a game winning kick. Yeah so so unbelievable fair point when when I looked at his game and I'm watching this game and I just want it would make either team like when I look at the bears. The bears kind of hodgepodge collection like their defense. This is pretty good. Their offense is a bag of trick. Plays that have to be executed flawlessly over the course of the game for the in the score touchdowns and then their quarterback look. I mean people have taken taking him to task. I even took him to task last week but he is not what you would expect him to be a second overall. Pick and is really really hard for a team to play around the quarterback position. Matt Nagy can do but they have to do something. Because I feel like this defense has a loaded roster and I feel like they're going to waste the prime of the careers years of these guys that have on defense. Well guys look when you when you watch this game it was red zone defense For the chargers that bailed them out because the bears had so many opportunities and in those red zone opportunities to me was a clear lack of faith in your quarterback and that goes from Matt Nagy directly to Mitchell trubisky. And there's people people that you'll hear that think it's all trubisky's people think it's all Nagy's faults to me. There's a lack of confidence. And there's a trust issue in that relationship and I'll give you a couple examples third nine in the red zone a third and goal from the nine they try and run just like a draw to Tariq Cohen. It gets like two yards. It's a give play on third nine not even trying to attack. Oh you go before the half the sequence before the half twenty five seconds left. It's second down. They have no timeouts. So your choices are I can run it but I can only run at once if I run it. We don't score. We've got to get on the ball. Quick Spike and kick the field goal from the one yard line or I get to cracks at it if I want to throw it. If I want to put the ball my quarterbacks hands we have to pass asked if we don't do anything with them try out there and kick the field goal it's one chance versus to an aggie chose I would rather have one chance with the run game versus two chances with the passing in game and that told me all I needed to know about that relationship. Zero confidence seemed like all over the field on that game for the bears. I think you're absolutely right on on that one Buck you want to What do you got here off the forty niners little like title contenders Jimmy Ward Barry? McCaffrey impeach grabbing him around the shoulder pads and hedge first. McCaffrey needs a playoff. Reggie white are separate postal. Picks it back up. He's reading back the cuts. It cycle twenty mix finally drop posts. He held her sept- at the quick. Screen offline doc laughed pin drop. The ball tick up forty one yards but he wanted to go. There is no doubt. It is the best defensive Lineman I've seen since all that Smith and I think he's better when you look at his complete game. Wow this season Jason Smith and all the fields. It's free to good look. Here's here's what I'm saying about the San Francisco Forty niners why they little like title contenders dominant..

"Good afternoon. At one o'clock, I'm Bob Heussler. The jets have an excellent opportunity today to get their season turned in the right direction jets and colts midlife stadium. The jets trying to win games trying to create an identity last week in a win over Denver rookie quarterback. Sam darnold fruit. Three touchdown passes of twenty or more. The highlight was a seventy six yard strike to Robbie Anderson on defense. The jets limited Denver to only a couple of touchdowns one of which came in garbage time. And here's what the -fensive tackle, Leonard Williams sees in that jets, Dave. Just an attacking style of defense. We want to create takeaways wanna get after the quarterback wanna play fast and physical just fly around. And celebrate and have fun. You know, just a lot of energy a lot of enthusiasm today Williams and adjust defense trying to contain the colts quarterback, Andrew luck. Who's now in his sixth season in the league. And the Stanford grad well aware the hype surrounding the jets rookie quarterback. Darnold is a USC. Guys. Are certainly watched them play over the years and very impressed with what he's done. I'm sure, you know, the city of New York phrase, it's it's its own beast in a sense marabout. But I I admire him very much. "It's clayborn stays in at one quarter. At the other corner is Roberts. Darrell roberts. As keenum brings the Broncos out of the huddle three to was right. One to the left keenum off play action. Drops back rules, right? Dumps it off the tight end hire men at the twenty six across the thirty to thirty five and then finally down near the forty yard line fourteen yards for Jeff Hier men who had four catches for fifty seven yards last week bootleg a staple of the Bronco offense. The Bronco offense dates back really to Mike Shanahan. That's a that's a base Mike Shanahan play. And they executed it perfectly it out to the thirty nine yard live first and ten for the Broncos just over thirteen minutes left in the second quarter seven seven the score two receivers left one, right? Al Freeman out of the backfield in motion lights up the far left. Keenum. Takes the snap. Drops back has time. Throws the overshot higher than just beyond the reach of his left hand at the forty five yard line at working that same side of the field keenum unable to connect on this one. And the reason came keenum was high with it was because he was forced to double clutch the ball came out a little bit high give the jets credit for holding up Harmon on the route forcing the double clutch. So out of the huddle is Cortlandt Sutton scored a touchdown back in the first quarter. He's lined up wind right trips to the left. Lindsey changes sides of the quarterback left hip now of keenum calls for the shotgun. Snap takes it hands. It off to Lindsey running to us right wrapped up and pull down from behind by the big uglies upfront. He gets across the forty one yard line. But Leonard Williams had a handle on quick gain of two.

I thought I don't even know like I'm trying to figure out like this guy is supposed to be like the next common. Right. He's supposed to be the next Joe Klecko or something. Right. Well, I mean, he's hasn't been that. Right. I mean plays a different position to a three four defense is a defensive and they're not asked to rush the passer as much as the Outside Linebackers. He's gonna want big money when he when he comes around on what's going on here. Yeah. I haven't he's basically he was MIA last night. As far as that Brown's call. I understand you haven't won a game. This is exciting for you. And the whole beer thing in the future. But I mean, if you really think about it how excited that whole Brown's world is for one regular season. It's kind of a little embarrassing. Exactly. Yes. Right. I mean. But if you were caught up in it too, though, two years of losing. I mean, boomer yesterday all morning. Yeah. One thirty one. I know. But it's really like you didn't have a daughter. The last time they won. That is very true. Wasn't. He wasn't even pregnant. Yeah. I know, and they're very passionate and means something it feels like it's turning the corner and Mayfield. But it's still a little embarrassing that big of a deal. But it was nice to have their first overall pick a quarterback. I mean, they're a great night and have that effect on the game in front of home fans on like a just like a as Troy Joe or twenty is just like it was a really quiet can they were booing the home team and everything else. And all of a sudden that all changed as soon as he came in and completed pass this could be a reference point game for a Browns fan. Like, I was there when that happened, right? It really could be it could be I was there. When Baker came in a nineteen game winless streak, and all of a sudden here we are. Yeah. You're right. Seventeen of twenty three two hundred one yards for Mayfield. Did catch a game. Tying two point conversion as well. Engineering that fifteen play seventy five yard drive and almost seven minutes. It was imposed game. Sound not good for the jets Todd Bowles the team simply collapsed, we lost our composure, and I told the team that we lost our composure, and he says is going to be a tough week for sure we shouldn't be pissed off up until we played a game next weekend. And that's the way it's going. He was asked about the saying. He's actually sounds a little bit angry believe it or not it does. He was asked about the football of. Well, I don't know how else to put it. That's pretty much. What he did was bowls reaction to that penalty inexcusable. We addressed it. It will never happen. Again, Crowell said, it was selfish, and he apologized for of course. I mean, the fact is is that he thought about doing that. Touchdown. This is what I'm gonna do. Yeah. I thought about of course. And then his explanation was I'm just very passionate. That's what did you see what happens junior when you get down on all fours like a dog. Of course got crushed. And this guy is not going to. People are getting crushed. But it's also I mean, it's a little bit different the lead story right because Isaiah Crowell is not Odell Beckham junior from the butt fumble to the but white brands right basically we have here game. And now the bumbling you can't blame a guy for being passionate about being a running back in the game. Like that. It's all about the passion. Near the but what a crock Jamal Adams is passionate. He was on S. And why afterwards he says really tough to lose this game? Gotcha. You.
Jets trade Bridgewater to Saints for third-round pick
"As suspected. It happened sooner than later. The New York Jets have traded teddy Bridgewater who was battling Sam darnold for the starting quarterback job. Sam darnold is now the officials starting quarterback for the New York Jets. They realize he's really good. He should have been number one. He dropped them at three. So the jets are going to get draft picks according to Adam. Schefter draft picks are coming to the New York Jets in exchange for Sam darnold, and this is what we theorize and the last forty eight hours is that when you add, this is what I said. Two days ago I went into this year thinking teddy Bridgewater starts and I still think teddy mornings a little bit better. But the gap is so close with darnold and Bridgewater. Are you better off the jets have one of the five easiest NFL schedules and it's real workable in the first six weeks. Trade teddy get draft picks, and just our Bill met offensive line. I don't. Here's another thing to throw out there. Khalil Mack jets have been rumored jets have Eytan elite safety, Jamal Adams, Tremaine Johnson at corner. Leonard Williams on an offensive line. They don't have a pass rusher. They were Twenty-eight than sacks. Do you get a couple of draft picks? And then you go to the raiders and say, we'll give you draft picks. We want Khalil Mack and then you've got an elite edge rusher and elite corner and elite safety. You have a defensive minded head coach. You keep Sam darnold in those games or the adjust grab all the picture. Can you go to your scouting department and say next two years? What are the offensive line look like in college football, you go to your NFL scouts and say, are they're going to be offensive lineman on the market? Because what you gotta do for the jets right now, you gotta get enough of line that thing's a mess. It's it's, it has moments when it can pass block a little. It does not run block. Well. Now the jets receivers are not great, but if Robbie Anderson can keep it buttoned up and curse there. Okay. It's not a disaster. They're receiving core depend. Terrell Pryor can Terrell Pryor, stay focused. Robbie Anderson, stay engaged. The got something, but they got no running backs up note, not good at tight end offensive line is really, really poor, but the jets are making a decision and they're making a decision that all of us have watched. Sam darnold is head and shoulders to me better than all these rookie

"The jets number six plus leonard williams for the brown's number four overall pick and either their thirtythird pick overall war are thirty fifth pick overall your thoughts none outrageous steel but if from a gender perspective i would need you to ask here's here's where you can make the argument to do a deal like that if you absolutely love one or two of the quarterbacks and then you can say massive drop off to number three number four and you have to have one arose two and one of them comes off the board in the top three well then yeah you might have to get the ford it take a guy and if that's the case you got to pay the price you gotta pay and leonard williams would be a pretty steep price but i don't i don't know the jets feel that way and i'll just tell you right now i don't feel outweigh none of the guys ed indianapolis this week made me say i got to rethink my whole ordering of the draft this guy is far and away the best quarterback they were all good they were all solid i don't even know of any of them got to the level of very good and i know for sure that none of them got the levelled a wild for me oh my god this so far and away the best so if the jet see it the same way didn't know you just gotta sit in six and keep leonard williams and get the best quarterback the drives down to you a it's a very important proposal it all comes down to the jets draft board of quarterbacks and how the big how big the dropoff is between one and two between two and three between three and four and so on and so forth could be done but i don't know that it as of the way i evaluated a trade like that would make sense but the jets may evaluated different i thank you for your opinion you got it thank you for your question pretty good one at that austin from kelly's up on cbs sports radio a loss whatever you're you're taking my call better my and i'm going to spare but it saying um i'm really tired of hearing people say the.

"That they gave you that contract based upon the way that you prepared the way that you played in games the way that you practice and the responsibility that goes with it as a professional athlete to show the world and guide the way not by what you say book by your actions to the younger players in that locker permit are coming in so what kind of example are you sending two leonard williams obviously he's smart enough coming from a bigger program now seeing what it's like to hit adversity in the in the nfl in his second here but what kind of example are you sit in for younger players on your team and on your roster that because you get a paycheck because the season isn't going the way that you guys thought it would think you can just now they have the obligation to show up on time do things the right way and act like a professional like you should and that's the big difference in other thing that you would love to be able to do in this circumstance he'd love to be able to just play him so far and you're not happy with the way things have grown we suspended you for one game but we're gonna make you play you think you're going to be able to dictate your way out of this just like we saw in pittsburgh on your near with martavis bryant well look he's been pretty important to their football team especially with antonio brown out of the lineup but i think it was a standard that they set that you may not be happy you may be sending out tweets but we're the ones in chirchir not you right and i get that and listen you but when you have the obligation of the money with the injuries and all that stuff over four changes everything right and if you don't know the language muhammed wokers since contract where sixty point seven five million next year would become guaranteed if you want your jeffey suffered an injury here at the tail end of the regular she's that's why you cannot play muhammad wilkerson.

"Acting there again they they are set it safety they are set at leonard williams uh even i think daringly was a healthy scratch yesterday in some ways so again it's a good roster outperforming it we saw that with the jets a few years ago but with that said i think you can uh kind of a take the names off of many of these players having these offseason and just say look if we see a clear upgrade at any of these positions especially a quarterback obviously and we just go and get them that's a generic answer but again i think it speaks the coaching like you mentioned i think it speaks to how these players are playing that they can achieve so much just west of rosser of no names are really stand out head of a weird comparison your but a couple of years ago the chargers owned the third pick in the draft and it's clear they weren't going to take a quarterback because of uh philip rivers and there were so much mr about which direction they would go because the two quarterbacks going to go ahead of the emily those dared goss uh and carson once year a yeah was up two so 2016 added the myself like there are a few different spots they could go in all of them would make sense of incorect with the they had they basically once polygraph saying with the jets at safety words like nope is only wanted a safety it makes sense dummy it makes sense again four of the jet to go in a litany of different ways but really impressed by how competitive they have been this season that's our top ten look at the teams that have top10 picks as of this moment but josh let's get to a couple of headlines up from sunday and i you know i feel like i go through a lot of the same headlines least of late on the show each monday but the afc west is to me the most compelling race going forward because now you've got three teams at six in six.
