Moton appears to be the only one that got a deal on matt. Rhule's of big taylor moton fan and it was evident in the type of deal that they gave him today. A big deal for young offensive

Washington Guard bread and sheriff in Jacksonville Pass, rusher, Nick In jock, who so? "Seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six we give all the Twitter is well at the PD mag Danielle McCarten will follow at two o'clock I've got one more hour would be here as we will review all of their football Tuesday on new year's eve what what better day to wrap up losing football you're in New York and spit it out try to be done with it then new year's eve and then a fresh start in theory today but as we know for the jets and especially the giants the start is in all of that fresh especially with Dave gatal been returning as the general manager and what Dave Gelman's goal was today I think was too full one it's to tell the fans that he has a bead on what's happening convince the fan base that he is the right guy going forward and one of the big knocks on Gelman has been a reluctance to embrace analytics he is mocked it openly in the past a couple years backwards mocking computers and he said today that that was used against them by the media but you said it that was that was your public attitude towards any kind of elixir to get all the way of looking at the game of football and it can't just be Hey this is what's worked in the past decades ago years ago because it doesn't always hold true as the rules change which is a big factor in football and the game does involving people come up with different ideas schemes that might have some success sometimes the only flash in the pan right you'll see a whole lot of successful wild cats anymore but there are things the gig it got to be up and they do change within the game and that's again a monadic if it's one of the fan base and then to perspective at coaches so that they believe that he has the right vision so they have confidence to come here and don't think well two years from now bold me and Dave get on it might be out of a job that's what they've got on had a commenced people of today and I'm sorry it failed he really struggled with it Hey Dave government a given this same press conference in the middle of the season I don't think you'd still be the general manager but the giants have committed to him I wasn't a glowing endorsement from John marrow on Monday basically it was while he's batting average has to pick up and they get all these brought in a new system and they didn't want to rock the boat they didn't want to make that kind of change in the organization maybe it's easier to remove the head coach you pluck them out you put in the new one is it change your whole organization it changes your game day schemes things like that the judge general manager changes your scouting you're what you're going to do for the draft how you evaluate your players players around the league players in college there's a a whole boatload of information that all changes again amended stole the process after two years of making those changes in any expressed as much today especially with that word in the process of that process process of that process he I used that were rebooting right I dont chided slip in like a a technological word right somebody who is maybe not all that technologically savvy throwed something and that's can be computer based but you know the nagas ban by the analytics is he valued the right positions the positions that are important in the game in twenty nineteen and going into a new decade of twenty twenty even the computer stuff which is really the analytics the way they get all men discussed it and it didn't make it sound like a guy who's got his head wrapped around all of this we've hired for computer folks software and we are completely redoing our back end of a college and pro scouting systems I mean they're they're analytics or they are analysts they are software developers that they're not computer guys they're not computer people in that you know it in you are leading a multi billion dollar company you have to be able to speak the language a little bit and understand what's happening and look if Dave government is doing more than giving lip service here and he is as he said evaluating what he's done right what he's done wrong you're trying to change all the credit to him I I don't wanna Margaret vis try and he's trying to convince you that he's trying today I know that much is true a into a very good job of convincing you but if he's trying to pick up all these things that's great but what we've seen in the past Dave Gelman AZ stubborn arrogant any thinks he knows the way and we had this has not had the success over the last two years to back that up many had to convince you that he's the right guy going forward thank you take the giants were they need to go and it's not as if his first two years have been awful not gonna not the track record he's hit on his first round picks for the most part a Daniel Jones looks like the future quarterback of the giants I'd be ecstatic about empire a giants fan and credit to Gelman he bucked the trend that wasn't just take the best quarterback on the board that everybody else sees and by so doing Haskins is that top guy a government got killed for taking Daniel Jones any looks terrific for right now that was the job saving move they get a man was able to make but there is explaining Leonard Williams to you and why give up a third round pick to get a look and Leonard Williams you don't know what Leonard Williams is is a Leonard Williams that good a player in two days here game what where Williams doesn't stop the run he hasn't sack the quarterback is not a pass rusher never racks up sacks so if you just bring in a run stopper and you're giving up a third round pick and you're gonna have to pay him big money or fairly big money this off season because later Williams has you by the you know what have you traded for you can't let him walk in free agency now you're gonna have to I think over bay for Williams at top of it all and he just needs not impact player it's not a game is not won and lost in the trenches with the run game anymore Lamar Jackson the exception to the rule you pass to get ahead of your run to win but you have to get ahead you have to have the lead no se Kwan Barkley the big games that he had down the stretch does against the giants leads they're able to give him the ball twenty twenty five times we'll get some reason the games you wonder why do they always get away from Barkley the second half because our don't two scores back not helping you come from behind not often specially multiple scores regard disappearance because you can't be run the ball the clock managed to get past way back into it so what's your plan for my head that's what the running back should be the last piece that you add when your team is really good and you have late leads now running back in ice skates boy absolutely has a purpose not say anything running backs are useless here but if the giants are building something along the way draft in the running back and bring him in first doesn't make a whole lot of sense and that's where you worry about getting to be too worried about the run game defensively defensively when it just it doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to it has a purpose not saying you don't run the ball at all you totally get away from it but it's not your focus can't be now the jets struck the ground and pound now which could be out physical offense never won anything not only Sanches whistling at those few Gezi had some success doing that they're trying to run Thomas Jones four hundred times into the line and wasn't working Hey great off its allies as if they could run the ball just it didn't result in a lot of points help their defense play low scoring games fine but it doesn't vault due to greatness yeah the top teams over the years the golf swing and they all run the ball and the pass the ball and moving through the air and come from behind if they have to you have to be able to do those things eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six yeah that's a good so tough to stop now because the way the rules have changed so you have to be able to do that and it's far more efficient been running the ball and that's that's where the Gelman couldn't convince you today that ease up on those things you just because he sat down with an analytics guy doesn't mean he buys in and can incorporate those things that the what the giants could do going forward eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six dot of free old starts up tonight up don what we are down to the analytics again I mean if you look back over the course of the last twelve years what team hasn't been playing or looking at analytics it is the new to the game government I mean it's not you know is a ton of football but I just like I said I wonder if he's up on how it has evolved in a he didn't convince anybody of that today well it's one thing if you listen to what he was saying are you know during his press conference it makes me so mad because he wasn't taking accountability for anything he said hi hi maintain culpability that's all he said but then when you went into getting into the bullet points about what was important about the culpability it was we we we we we there was nothing about what he said that with me me me when it should have been I met up here I looked up your Highness and he wouldn't admit to it yeah and then that's certainly it take what I didn't think he came across as arrogant today's he has in the past but I mean look he never talked he said he felt sorry for Pat Shurmur take all those bowl to talk to the media every single day they've Gelman could help them out with that never did never spokes its training camp correct point he never ever back to back Schumer during his during his term I mean this is what I'm talking about never taking responsibility and that's also guys survive and appreciate the call don only the other part of it for gaming we talk a bit to the fan base on the you did that did he convince a perspective coach.

"He was filling in today's already we're not going to make you do with the seven guy we're going to let's go back to the phone Victor is in Englewood Victor what's on your mind Hey how do I call you got about so I just want to bring up a point not as much a question the Leonard Williams trade I think he was actually pretty not just beaten you very good yesterday did you watch the game I watched what what what did one Williams back in that game you played well against the run played well in the run and he came over what is most impactful point one was making a game park can you take one no he got penetration one time we push somebody wonderful and I think you can hear you heard around a talk about he plays tall so you play at all what does that mean I don't know he plays long doesn't like that one better than you guys to try to make it don't know this is what what what we want we talk about inside guy and when you take a guy six overall I mean you haven't seen later Williams looked like Honda works in look right he hasn't shown you flat that rejoicing showed you he hasn't shown you the flashes that you expect from a interior linemen this pick sixth overall he hasn't shown you the impact plays the sack totals the forced fumbles build things of that sort right there so we're not saying he's not a good player Regis and he's not worthy of receiving a hundred million dollar contract ended up at third and potentially a fourth round pick in the process I think it's one thing if your team like the Steelers even though everybody thought that was an over actual make it fits Patrick now you look at making fits Patrick got to Canada for defensive player of the year last year with the cowboys I didn't particularly like the Amari Cooper trade at the time but you know what you see was this more true for them they were in it and she had a chance to do something and it helped them the giants were to win what five six when they traded for one will listen two examples or first round picks treated hands I mean this is a third round pick so I feel like the stakes were a little bit lower but players can you give money factor we are better point is the one about make if it's Patrick because he's still under contract for I believe two more years before you have to pay more as Leonard Williams you could just be a form of the end of the year just wait here's the thing do you really think the price is gonna get driven up so high a letter Williams when you have a free agent class what that is stacked from top to bottom then this is not going to be of a place of deficiency in the off season if anything Leonard Williams is just a piece it is not valid guy and so for that do you want to pay a bar I don't know about a hundred million I don't know if you're gonna switch asking price is for the position right because remember eighty eight letter to god landing Collins got eighty five there in in the price to say these are way lower than the tags are suppose the impact players you think it's only a hundred I mean germ McCoy you look at your local every poll right all right but doesn't say still gonna ask for you know me in the market is that right he that'll take you think he's making fourteen million dollars a year now you think I'll take less than forty man of the year I totally get that million dollar you top player she's not fourteen pounds when you watch him you know that you won't give it to him I know that listen I I mean he's not a better player Michael Bennett.

"Putting speed on the field to defend the sprit. What a theme that negate speed is straight ahead power? And I'm surprised that more teams haven't gone back to an old school approach because when you have these two hundred and fifteen hundred twenty pound linebackers. That aren't used to taking in on lead blocks now used to take an old fullbacks been able to get off blocks from climate to the second level it is a tremendous advantage. It is also a reason why the running game is beginning to come back to prominence in the national football league. You're seeing these running backs. Have these big games because the team's realize we can run run the little guys off to feel and they're having success and those teams that you're talking about big in run game big in play action. which is why they're really really successful? Two things I'll add to that I am interested to see that the Patriots are on that list and Tom Brady. It's beds a Lotta time under center. But they have not had the success in the run game that they've had they certainly had last year Sony Michelle Twenty one carries on seventy four yards and he had sixteen yard. Carry in there. So you take out. It's twenty carries for fifty eight yards the yards per attempt hamptons down a little a lot lower than I'm sure they'd like it to be and then on the flip side the browns. What did you love about what pretty kitchens was doing with the browns right getting so it's funny? We had that conversation the comma. We're ready kitchens. He was getting twelve and thirteen personnel. Putting all the guys on the field and then this year he goes away from it because he got acute old school football continues to work in the national football. I just surprised more teams aren't doing but the browns probably the most successful rushing attack against the Patriots. It's in this shop. Goes for one thirty one. If he doesn't turn it over there in much better shape on those first This two of those first three drives so that that's an interesting point to make and WANNA follow. Yep let's keep moving here boys Eagles they run through the bills to donate the side. I went to the gone whence hits it off again and one got the little picking up a first down for thirty three at seven. Twenty four twenty eight rushing touchdown Mile San breaks awful live side and he outwards everybody leaving all the Blue Shirt Chinnaswamy for his first. NFL touch do have been waiting for that to happen but east so explosive. At this time he hit a whole Harry and yeah. This is a team. That's going on on the road. beat up the packers physically just went on the road and beat up the buffalo bills and we think about difference makers will often talk about quarterbacks. Pass rushers you know is a difference maker for this. Eagles team theme. Is Jason. Kelsey the center when you watch all their big plays into screen game all the different things he can do getting to the second level. He took at Oliver and washed him. Down the line of scrimmage about twelve of yards on one running play I mean he is phenomenal. And he's Kinda got it makes that whole thing. Go Up Front. Look when I when I think about the eagles I I think one Orlando skander. Caverns comments come. I think galvanizes squad to believe Doug Peterson ability to his decision to recommit to. The running game helps off-stump Look I love Carson Winston. I think Carl winces phenomenal. I think he has the potential to be an outstanding quarterback in this league. And we've seen him play at a high level but they have to take some of the pressure off of him. I think. Think for so. Long coaches get enamored with quarterbacks. And they WANNA give them more and sometimes you need to give them less when they run the football and they're committed to running the ball. He plays better. He may not put up the big numbers that the fantasy geeks like however he's efficient he's effective and really. This team plays better because they also mask the deficiencies of the defense by playing a little more possession oriented to best games eagles who played all season. They run the heck out of the ball. beat the packers at Lambeau and here beat the bills in buffalo run game travels absolutely all right. What do you got next book man with the Colts Ugly Winds still count here? It is snap all down tickets up. It's on its is way past the distance. The fifty greatest sit through the whole slater thirteen put twenty two seconds to look. This is a terrific example apple of the Indianapolis Colts and why believe they're better version of the team then to one that we saw last year with Andrew Luck they are more balanced team. They have the running game working. They have a defense as they can get stops in January turnovers and Jacoby percent is really playing every will as a game manager now. That's not a disrespectful term towards them but I think what he does best. He understands how to insert himself in and out of the game based on what they needed. We saw at the end when they needed to drive he made more plays. We saw athleticism. Step Up. We I saw him make plays from the pocket. He is exactly what they need. Now how far can they go plan this way. I don't know but I do know. They're very efficient effective team and they're one of those teams they make you beat them in most teams. Don't have the ability to do so guys I'm looking at this game. Real quick and flip it over to the Denver Broncos they are rushing the passer better. I know JOE FLACCO is upset. They weren't more aggressive and I tend to agree with Joe flacco on that one but the other takeaway for me on the Denver side Keep an eye on this one Derek Wolfe Fatou sacks and from the inside. He's a name I've heard kind of buzzing around some of these trade circle so we'll see maybe by the time this comes out he he'd be one that has been dealt But I would definitely only keep an eye on that name as somebody that teams are looking at. Yeah it's an interesting one to watch for Jacoby. said it comes off a game. Where he had four touchdown passes passes in a win and then bounces back? This wasn't as impressive. But I will take the throw he made to get away. Miller over the four touchdown performance wins Games. I did it is what wins the game. You need your quarterback to be able to deliver when it matters and he was able to make a play when they really needed it. No doubt all right. Let's get to our last one here. There's a couple of errands you gotTA worry about. What the packers shotgun? William's privacy responsible Jimmy Grain Slot right side snap. Rockers is looking pump fakes now still under pressure pulls it right side of the end zone. Thanks Joe this is the end. So Morris Yeah Yeah that was a ridiculous throw by Aaron Rodgers. One of the best. You'll ever see escaping and just flipping it almost like a shortstop stop deepen the whole kind of submarine that thing. Ross the diamond It was beautiful but Aaron Rodgers we know what he could bring to the table. Now you get Aaron Jones Rolling and getting Aaron Jones Rolling in the passing passing game in this one was huge. They were able to split him out. I do those charger games. I see how they use Austin Equa in the passing game and this was the literally the exact same play awesome. Equa hit a home run on the Tennessee. Titans last week they hit a home. Run on this one They're able to find out it was man coverage and once they had a linebacker and everything else cleared away Double Move See Zia later. That is a huge advantage. When you can find that match up with a guy like Aaron Jones so I'll say that I had an initial reaction Kinda like Matt Leflore but like like? Do you remember home alone when Macaulay can put the aftershave on for the first time on his face. Yup I mean. That's how I felt how many quarterbacks around the League wouldn't even just Ed let me just toss out as running out of balance wouldn't even try to keep that one in it was a remarkable throws even better catch But I think what we're seeing from the Green Bay packers. We're seeing male floors influence on this offense. We're seeing running backs more involved and I say this having watched it back as for years ozzy because I have a close tie hi there they never utilized runningback like some teams like in New England. Patriots have utilized running backs in the passing game. But now we're seeing them in Aaron Jones. One hundred did it. Fifty nine receiving yards in two touchdown receptions. This is the kind of IMPAC that changes the way defense. Coordinators have to defend your office when you have a running Baghdad can be split out there and use as another wide receiver. who also can give you the ability to run the ball and get those dirty ours? It changes the way they have to defend the the packers and is really going to open up. Feel for Aaron Rodgers. When you look at this team just not Davante? Adams is coming back and when he comes back he's going to have more room to operate rate than ever. I like the way they're trending the only concern I have about them. I really don't know how good their defense is. Defense is opportunistic. But it's not dominant and I wanted to in these matchups as we get into the playoffs. Forty niners and saints. Can they go toe to toe with the heavyweight and win with their defense. General Alexander turned not to be a pretty good corner Yeah he's really good. He's a great player. Yeah he's been he's been really good layer forms tonight. She's absolutely really good player. The one thing the one the thing I would just say as an underlying concern for the packers and we'll see what happens going for but giving up five Saxon game and some of those throws including when we played The highlight throw by Rogers. Chrissy was under a lot of heat in that game. And that's something that Obviously did not happen the week before. The raiders don't have much of a pass rush and he was clean This is the the genius and the beauty of Aaron Rodgers. When you don't play great upfront you can cover a lot of that stuff up but that was just one thing and I'm like okay? We'll see if we'll keep an eye on that on pass protection wise. How they are going forward? They play the chargers this week. Who can rush passer a little bit so interesting to see how that goes by? Tre and BA Laga both mistime in this game at different points in the game and this.

"I Jan for the pats falls on the right Hash browns fourteen change whites back in the pocket critic odd handelman he's worked coverage seizes quarterbacks trouble awesome performance by the pages but I think it is great edit coincided with Bill Belichick forces you to play almost like a mistake free game to beat them year coaches Utah you do something that gives them opportunities in the seas on those opportunities he is Horford teams to avoid beat themselves especially when they played the Patriots talk about the next day and so I remember reading duckie's when he came in and said the Patriots Take Care of fourteen bucks right they don't beat themselves and that's not the type you work with Trent dilfer along and this is fascinating to me Joyce the most time up their their combined record right now thirty three and six here the about this in college in two thousand nineteen this season do you know how many culture as well as anybody in the seven on seven world that we live in in junior high in high school l. and now you've got a quarterback putting his back to you and you don't know are they running the ball is it play action well off play action it is there is no mystery to me that the teams that are under run game is to Alice Gibbs system outside zone stretch movement base Oh ball works is because you talked about the shotgun and all these defense coordinators putting you have these two hundred and fifteen to twenty pound linebackers that aren't used to taking is also a reason why the running game is beginning to come back to prominence in the national football league you're can run game play action which is why they're really really successful two things I'll add to that they certainly had last year Sony Michelle Twenty one carries on seventy four yards and he had a the browns what did you love about what pretty kitchens was doing with the browns right get into acute old school football continues to work in the national football I just surprised more teams This two of those first three drives so that that's an interesting point to make and wanted to follow I went to the gone wince gives it off again and aw I feel rushing touchdown bow centers just brakes taste so explosive time he hit the whole Harry difference makers will often talk about quarterbacks pass rushers you know the difference maker for this eagles team of yards on one running play he is phenomenal and he's kind of the guy that makes that whole thing Doug Peterson ability to his decision to recommit to the running game helps think for so long coaches get enamored with quarterbacks and they wanna give them more and active and really this team plays better because they also masked the deficiencies travels absolutely all right what are you going next book man with the the last year with Andrew Luck they are more balanced team they have the running game working they have a defense he understands how to insert himself in and out of the game based on what they needed we way I don't know but I do know they're very efficient effective team and they're one of those.

"Running game stifling defense. I don't know how good the quarterback is and we didn't really get a chance to see it in this game but we're talking about the posits two hundred rushing yards. They are able to really jam jam. It Down People's throats and the way that they were able to do it against the Carolina Panthers Defense that I thought was pretty good was very very impressive. If they're able to continue to run the ball like like this in dictate the terms with their defense playing like they're playing. They continue to have the party. That we saw breakout Levi stadium. Because because it was all fun it was all giggles. It was everything. It was a celebration at the panthers experience. But they're gonNA have a lot of days like this would have run a gave it a defense playing. They're playing guys. It was funny. I was on the plane with the chargers coming back. And I'm watching the forty niners game and I see both his his pick so joey just twenty feet ahead of me so I just go walking up the plane age or your brother just had to pick. He Goes Nikki at a pick. I go you know. He's got three sacks ax. Just pick he goes you. Can I sit so I pulled up on my phone and I show it to them and It was so funny he just looked at it. You could definitely tell. He's a proud brother but he just kind of jokingly Said said is all enjoy what a jerk I have my best game of the season now does this and completely overshadows me. Rivers rivers jumps in and rivers skills. Man Joe your brother runs exactly like you. Do they feel it looks it. Looks like the exact same human being. It was funny because Joey Botha was dominate. I think at four tackles for loss two sacks and then goes out has three sacks pick. I mean it's it's hard to have a better family than that one. That was that was fun. I Watch I did Game Day highlights last night so I was watching that game leading up to the show and Just I mean Bosa just dominated and then the forty niners dominated in the run game. mm-hmm Tevin Coleman my goodness four total touchdowns on the day. He was inspired by the hoosiers. Getting a big win over Nebraska. Six two on the season. Look Look Big Day for the hoosiers. And in four Tevin Coleman as well. I mean that run game in San Francisco is about as good as it gets in the League right now. Absolutely look dominant Ranga. I can tell you play against desk. Shanahan run game before when the original Dad Mike Shanahan was endeavoring yet. TD running. It is problematic because they get all the linemen run like elephants on parade and then running-backs are able to cut back because they chop down the backside. So it's problematic is physical is intimidating and right now they have so much confidence in the ground game. It really the opens up the rest of the playbook and look even though Jimmy Garoppolo isn't playing at what I would call a high level. He's efficient enough to take advantage of defense overplaying. The run which is why the forty niners office is really so hard too difficult to defend. All right drew me to take the next one here. Let's do it. Let's go magic with a few tricks. Left burning from the eight. Meant you dropped the throw. You look scrambled to his right. Look pump fake you still look. You'll look five four the old buddy. HR touchdown shark attack. A quarter of the end zone suggest nearly all the old shark attack like that one. Yeah so so look say about Gartner Menchu Week. Six six and seven after taking the League by storm the mustache and everything and coming in for Nick foles in really doing a nice job for the Jaguars the last two weeks. You started to be like okay when Nick foles comes back. It's you know it's probably going to be time. This thing might have run. Its course then. He gets a date with the jets. And he absolutely took advantage three touchdown on passes in this game. I mean he's got more multiple touchdown games than any Jaguars Rookie quarterback in franchise history. He's got five games like that. And and this is the first rookie with three plus passing touchdowns but he is tied with Russell Wilson for the most extended play assing touchdowns sounds which means he's finding ways to get out of pressure scramble. Get a touchdown and it's still find a way to make a positive play and that is what's most impressive to me about Menchu you and if he can keep this up you know. Nick foles not eligible till their week. Eleven game which is right after a buy week so I don't know maybe they're still a decision to be made in Jacksonville. It's GonNa be hard to pull them away. They're playing and I know that Nick foles offer more because he can do. More things Atlanta scrimmage however. Nick foles is most comfortable when he's able to play had the shotgun Leonard Fournette and the rest of the team operates better when they have more of a traditional under center style so Doug Marrone has to make a decision. What is best for the entire team team? Is it best for us to go back and do something to spread stuff. That makes our top big money quarterback comfortable or is it better for the rest of Gaza have low price quarterback that plays into center and has developed galloped rhythm and chemistry with the rest of the guys tough decision for him to make. But I think is one that we're going to see may made very very soon. Yeah he's made plays on on time and off schedule. I know those off schedule throws a lot of the highlights and the place to watch. But there's also times you see meant you hang in there and deliver the ball the one thing that jumps out to me and I think maybe you could come up with this information based off of his wardrobe but there's no fear yes absolutely none and it's fun to watch thirteen touchdowns two picks ex- boys. That's pretty darn good year. That is really really good. Book the pages. Just take a business I Jan for the pats walls on the right Hash browns fourteen change whites back to receivers right three love Brady takes. The step looks over. The middle of the pump dances in the pocket. Now he starts to voters right to the end zone touchdown patriots pocket. Great composer by the quarterback Cam. Tuck it underneath. Thanks export drills slides left such back up out there right. Saad God he's working coverage seizes quarterbacks trouble breaks his route fights ATTITU- can't defend it. When you give this Guy Tom Fourteen yard touchdown you know when you watch this game? I don't I don't think it was a very impressive performance by the pages but I think it is great at it coincided with Bill Belichick shaken his three hundred th win and I think the reason. Why is because when you look at this team this is a team that is consistent? And I think they're consistency forces forces you to play almost like a mistake. Free game to beat them year coaches all the time. Say Look make the other team beat you. They will eventually make mistakes. And when I look at the Patriots they just wait for you to fall apart. You Kinda stumble over your own self you stub Utah. You do something that gives them opportunities in the seas on those opportunities for Bill Belichick to get the three hundred wins. I think what he has done is really mastered a recipe of being able to win and the best way to win is a not beat yourself. It we're seeing. He is Horford teams to avoid beat themselves especially when they played the Patriots. Take the take the listeners behind the curtain here a little bit you know we all have. I have a group text message when we're saying what takeaways we WANNA WE WANNA WE WANNA talk about the next day and so I remember reading Bucky when he came in and said the Patriots Take Care of business. It was still the third quarter. Buck Louise there. We control the game was over up. Fourteen fourteen bucks right. They don't beat themselves and that's not the type of game that they were going to give up. You know what I mean. I've always I WANNA I wanNA give you one point on this game. Buck our mutual friend Joe Roberts who does a lot of work with Trent dilfer along and this is fascinating to me. Joey great obviously right. You know him as well as the top. Five league leaders right and snaps under center so teams aren't the gun teams that are quarterback under center the top five teams spend the most time up their their combined record right now. Thirty three and six here are the teams that are under center the most in the national football league the Vikings the forty niners the rams rams the Patriots and the saints and this this is the correlation here. Think about this in college in two thousand nineteen this season. Do you know how many snaps the percentages and college football being under center. It's ten point two percent hanes or sense kids that ten percent so these kids and Bucky knows this culture as well as anybody in the seven on seven world that we live in in junior high in high school and in college it spread city baby and so you defense your defensive coordinator at speed and spread and shotgun and run to space and now all of a sudden you get in the NFL and now you've got a quarterback putting his back to you and you don't know are they running the ball. Is it play action. And I've got linemen coming at me then you can mix in a little bit of even some of the RPO stuff from under center. These guys don't know how to fit against a run. They don't know how to react well off play action it is. There is no mystery to me that the teams that are under center having tremendous success right now in the NFL gray point Dj. And I'm GONNA take it. Even further by looking at the vikings forty nine is in rams all have a similar run. Game is to Alex Gibbs System outside zone stretch movement base base bootlegs coming off of their run action very successful The Patriots in the saints are communities. They can change it up the reason why this brand of Football Oh bowl works is because you talked about the shotgun and all these defense coordinators.

"Viadana kicked by Eddie Pineyro kick he's up no good smug left and the chargers and real quick just a quick reaction to that I hate bag on the kickers but was there to me the king of the game guys yeah go ahead what was going to say if the chargers would have had a game when he kick when when I looked at his game and I'm watching this game and I just thought it would make either team lawlessly over the course of the game for the underscore touchdowns and then their quarterback look I mean people have Matt Nagy can do but they have to do something because I feel he walks this game it was red zone defense for the chargers that bail them out because the bears had people that you'll hear that think it's all Trubisky's people think it's all Nagy's fault to me there's a lack of confidence three colon two yards it's a give play on third nine not even trying to attack score we've got to get on the ball quick spike and kick the field goal from the one yard line or is to enagage chose I would rather have one chance with the run game versus two chances with the passing on that one Buck you got here waiter separate postal picks it up he's reading back awesome pin drop the ball ten up forty it's better when you look at his complete game wow this season I don't know how good the quarterback is and we didn't really get a pretty good was very very impressive if they're able to continue to run the ball like because it was all fun it was all giggles it was everything it was a celebration at the panthers the back and I'm watching the forty niners game and I see boatswain's ax just pick he goes I sit so I pulled up on my phone and I show it to them and he does this and completely overshadows me rivers rivers jumps in and Botha was dominant think at four tackles for loss two sacks and then then goes out has three sacks and just I mean Bosa just dominated and then the forty niners dominated in the run game look big day for the hoosiers and in four Tevin Coleman as well I mean that run game in San Francisco running it is problematic because they get all the linemen running like elephants on parade and then the opens up the rest of the playbook and look even though Jimmy Garoppolo isn't playing at what I would call all right drew me to take a star next one here let's do it you still look you'll look five four the old buddy Jay jar touchdown one yeah so so look say about Gardner Menchu weeks six foles comes back. It's you know it's probably going to be time this thing might have run its course then whereas rookie quarterback in franchise history he's got five games like that and sounds which means he's finding ways to get out of pressure scramble get touchdown in game which is right after a bye week so I don't know maybe they're still a decision to be made in Jacksonville had the shotgun Leonard Fournette and the rest of the team operates better when they have more of a traditional what about comfortable or is it better for the rest of Gaza have the low price quarterback that plays into center and has developed on time and off schedule I know those off schedule throws a lot of the highlights and the place to watch yeah absolutely none and it's fun to watch thirteen touchdowns two picks.

"It comes to blending his athleticism assim with his pocket passing skills. He has grown into quite a remarkable franchise quarterback. Yeah and one thing. I'll say a real quick on that Watson is phenomenal. No but the way that the Texans have gone out to try to support him not just on the offensive line but at running back with Carlos Hyde at running back with do Johnson. Even the latest trainer Gary Connolly he got he got targeted a few times in this game by Derek Carr got beat a couple of times it looked like I haven't watched the all twenty two yet but he stepped up on a huge plate the into the game on at third and sixteen and Russell the ball away from tyrel Williams till force a raiders point. I thought that was huge. So we're kind of seeing all these moves move to the Texans have made pay off real quick. And then we'll get to the next one my point. Just with the raiders. If you look at it right now projection based off. What he's he's done thus far this season Josh Jacobs projected to finish the season with fourteen hundred and seventeen rushing yards and touchdowns so they have their back again? Just a solid game. Amy's four point four carries just consistent on the season. He's averaging five yards a carry so he's been outstanding. The raiders definitely a big building block for their future. That's what a first first round running back looks like and I'll take us to the next takeaway. This should have been a first round wide receiver. A man of international acclaim. supercup makes history in London. Ten Ten ten are score with four minutes remaining in the half supercup emotion from the left side. It's give and now it's an end around a toss back for a flea flicker they've got throws right side appealed cooper cop with split down the right sideline he will take it down in and around. rebours talk back flea flicker six. That was unbelievable. Unbelievable play the also the move that w webb made on the ground in that play go back and watch that he looked like a Wurley. Bird's yeah watch out for the Loch Ness Turf. So here's what I say about Cooper Cup. You put it into historical context with the rams. They've had some phenomenal nominal. Receivers and that organization Isaac Bruce Torry Holt Henry Ellard a top three all-time and rams receiving yardage flipper Anderson. Not too far down the line but also has the NFL record for most receiving yards in a single game with three hundred thirty six. There was a time in this game or Cooper couples on pace to break that record. You know one hundred in the first quarter and then ended up with two twenty which is the most ever in front of an international audience in the NFL. But Cooper Cup will ah if he stays in. La Ram will end up as one of the best if not the best rams receiver with the way that he's been playing. It's absolutely no question that they're the passing game runs through Cooper Cup in every one of his receptions in this game win for either a first down or touchdown that's a clutch player. He's the key to they're passing. Offense lucky is a key to their passing offense. He's been a terrific player he is Jerry. Golf's security blanket I think the thing that we can see from the La Rams is when they play play cleaned football on offense meaning. They don't turn the ball over to have a limited amount of penalties. This team is still as good as any team in the national football league. I think Sean McVeigh has to continue to do is kind of get back to the basics as stay on track I think is easy for creative office coordinators to get a little cute and to try and do too much I think when the rams keep it simple and they keep the main thing the main thing I think we've seen this office continue to be very effective in the national football league when you play zone against the Rams you get what Oh you deserve to carve you up. Do not do it. I don't understand they stay in zone. I we're going to exile on aftermath. I'll show you three dig routes where it is. I mean it's still as Pitcher catcher ever GONNA see. It's just so easy and they just kept doing it over and over again. They kept going three by one buck and they would just just wear them out. What those dig routes in okay to me at some point? I know your zone team. You got to challenge these guys. Get up and challenge him. When you're getting torched like this you gotta get up in their face and try and challenge? They've never happened in this football game. It was bizarre. I mean the bangles are the worst total defensive football for a reason. Yeah I mean look look this is. This is all those nick. I feel like the game. The plan was flawed from the start. And you're right. DJ The blueprint is out there for how you deal with the La Rams you gotta play tough and challenged wide. Receivers at the line of scrimmage you gotTa Bring Heat Jared Golf. You cannot let him throw from Grassy Knoll and just have all day let these guys find over windows because they are carve you up and for whatever reason being that was the best approach and we saw the result two in your day for Kubrick up in a big win for the rams are. I'll keep it moving here. Boys let's Let's go onto the game. I was at the chargers. I'm going to get to my main point point. which is the red zone defense of the charges? But I do want you to hear the last play the game both the happy version and the sad version. I guess we could start out with the happy version here with Matt. Money Smith method call in euro for the win. The chargers kick his up and it is no good. The chargers win no good Pineyro Mrs and the chargers losing streak comes to an end they make just enough plays get out of Chicago with a victory. That's the happy version. Let's go sad. Version here come on operations gotta be smooth scales. Come on Eddie. Tolan Editors snap placement down viadana kicked by Eddie Pineyro kick. He's up no good. He missed it. Time expires the seventeen sixteen chargers the win was small and the chargers. Aw Game losing streak. That's not right. Thought it was good. I thought it was good. Alzheimer's good I go ahead real real quick. Just a quick reaction to that. I hate bagging on the kickers. But was there anybody watching that kick. That thought it was going to go in. I mean I'm sitting there like this. This is GonNa be the most serious thing ever swirling alright either team to me the king of the game guys. Yeah go ahead. What was going to say if the chargers would have had a game when he kicked kick we all would have thought they missed to true? Expect a game winning kick. Yeah so so unbelievable fair point when when I looked at his game and I'm watching this game and I just want it would make either team like when I look at the bears. The bears kind of hodgepodge collection like their defense. This is pretty good. Their offense is a bag of trick. Plays that have to be executed flawlessly over the course of the game for the in the score touchdowns and then their quarterback look. I mean people have taken taking him to task. I even took him to task last week but he is not what you would expect him to be a second overall. Pick and is really really hard for a team to play around the quarterback position. Matt Nagy can do but they have to do something. Because I feel like this defense has a loaded roster and I feel like they're going to waste the prime of the careers years of these guys that have on defense. Well guys look when you when you watch this game it was red zone defense For the chargers that bailed them out because the bears had so many opportunities and in those red zone opportunities to me was a clear lack of faith in your quarterback and that goes from Matt Nagy directly to Mitchell trubisky. And there's people people that you'll hear that think it's all trubisky's people think it's all Nagy's faults to me. There's a lack of confidence. And there's a trust issue in that relationship and I'll give you a couple examples third nine in the red zone a third and goal from the nine they try and run just like a draw to Tariq Cohen. It gets like two yards. It's a give play on third nine not even trying to attack. Oh you go before the half the sequence before the half twenty five seconds left. It's second down. They have no timeouts. So your choices are I can run it but I can only run at once if I run it. We don't score. We've got to get on the ball. Quick Spike and kick the field goal from the one yard line or I get to cracks at it if I want to throw it. If I want to put the ball my quarterbacks hands we have to pass asked if we don't do anything with them try out there and kick the field goal it's one chance versus to an aggie chose I would rather have one chance with the run game versus two chances with the passing in game and that told me all I needed to know about that relationship. Zero confidence seemed like all over the field on that game for the bears. I think you're absolutely right on on that one Buck you want to What do you got here off the forty niners little like title contenders Jimmy Ward Barry? McCaffrey impeach grabbing him around the shoulder pads and hedge first. McCaffrey needs a playoff. Reggie white are separate postal. Picks it back up. He's reading back the cuts. It cycle twenty mix finally drop posts. He held her sept- at the quick. Screen offline doc laughed pin drop. The ball tick up forty one yards but he wanted to go. There is no doubt. It is the best defensive Lineman I've seen since all that Smith and I think he's better when you look at his complete game. Wow this season Jason Smith and all the fields. It's free to good look. Here's here's what I'm saying about the San Francisco Forty niners why they little like title contenders dominant..

"And now move the sticks ten takeaways from week eight with Daniel Jeremiah Bucky Brooks and read. Louis what's up everybody. Welcome to the show here. Dj Bucky Rhett an guys. We're going to get to our ten takeaways here in just a minute but there are a couple of big news. This item WanNa hit here before we get into the takeaways buck. I'll start with you here on the first one Leonard. Williams traded the jets ship him really not far to the giants for a third rounder. This cheer and a Fifth Rounder in twenty twenty one your thoughts on that move man. I'm surprised understood that. They thought he was a valuable trade chip. Send them to your cross town rivals to give the giants and opportunity to maybe Create a resurgence of his career. I don't know if I want to hear that I mean they got him out out of the conference which is something that you typically trying to portrayed. I'm just surprised. Maybe he didn't fetch more. But maybe that's what the market is Linda. Williams people. Don't see them. Maybe the way that we saw him when he the school that up. Yeah no just. You're not there to insist after the loss to Detroit on Sunday just it. It felt like that was a move that a a true contender might go and make and I hadn't really thought about a team that was in dire need of defensive tackle but the price didn't seem like it was too I I know that look they. They tried shopping them around the league. He'd been out there for a while and that's all that they could get back in return so that V by the way if he resigns with the giants will elevate to a fourth so if he ends up reciting there. It's a it's a third and a fourth round pick in this jets roster guys. It's in such bad shape and defensive tackles actually one of the positions where they have some depth and then they potentially have some star power there Quinn and Williams as he develops but Leonard Williams into a contract contract. You're zero sacks this season and and to me the the deciding factor and I haven't talked to Joe Douglas about this is my own opinion but when you look and I tweeted out how bad this jets offensive of line is and how close they are to ruining a promising career. My opinion of Sam Darnold you have to collect as many assets as you can and you have to solve that problem. And it's not. They need one guy guys. I think they need five new guys on that line. I said You'd better have some assets to go get that done today. Stink is all time bad group. COSC- There were the jess off his line. I will say going back to the giants. Do One thing that we know about David. David gentleman loves investing in the big guys and so with Leonard Williams And we saw him do this week. Take a short who kind of exceeded expectations. If you can get the big as upfront right it really takes a lot of pressure off the linebackers and the secondary so maybe Saint Louis. Let's go. Let's see if we can get a blue chip player. Maybe he'll play like a blue chip player for us in alleviate some of the other holes we have in our roster. Dj last thing. I'll say onyx and we want to move on here but rappaport also mentioning that. The giants are reportedly a willing to move generous Jenkins Al Kogel tree and possibly nate solar. Oh you know what I think you can get all those guys for a honey bun I don't know of any of those guys those guys really excite me to death who I WANNA retrieve four. So yeah I'll put all those guys in the market and we'll see what fences back. I can't imagine anybody any contract. All anybody really going off any they could. I can always think only team I could see doing. That would be a team like Cleveland. WHO's desperate trinkets and tackle help and We'll see what they end up doing there. Maybe the price is cheap in terms of of trade compensation you still got to pay the money all right one real quick thing here read on hitch on this. Cj what done for the year you know that Houston team is any family that works there. Just your thoughts on that one. I think it's a tough one one man and that was as costly a win. As I've seen in a long time for the Texans I mean it was phenomenal game to watch the way Shawn Watson pulled that thing out at the end but Laremy Tunsil Council went down in that game too. Although we're told that injuries minor according to rappaport but it should be man. Jj Watt done for the year so now the one three defensive player of the year wards and also so ended up on. I are now in three of the last four seasons. It's been a rough gopher. Jj Man. I feel terrible for them. Feel bad for the Texans. I did just take a quick look at the Texans is remaining draft picks in two thousand twenty just to see even though bill O'Brien's slim and none got to. We've got a two. I'm seeing also a five and a seven still available. I don't know vick Beasley available for one of those things. I don't know I'm just like look just off hyphen. J. Wide has like I don't know if anyone expected him to come back and play the way he played over the last year or so. He gave them to riffing performance and production considering the number of injuries injuries that he's had but now that he's on the shelf again. I do wonder whether Houston Texans. We'll do what they're playing when it comes to looking at their defensive line alleged Avian Clowney Goad. He didn't really get suitable replacement for him now. You have. Jj Watt who is on the men. What used to be a strength a dominant strength for the taxes is now no longer that? How does Bill O'Brien replaced it? And how does he do it. Without having a lot of draft capable at his disposal you can see the that Little Clip of will Smith looking around the room looking around the family room. Empty no furniture. That's Whitney Mercilus right now. He's always fast Russia. They go just me. That's the last man standing all right. Let's get to these takeaways. Jump started here. Let's go with Let's start with the return of drew. Brees it was as good as advertised. Second down in seven breeze in the Gun Murray was right to tight ends right. Two receivers left Greece takes a gun staff drops back looking to throw that ball Scotland. TV's Mary after ten five touch Latavius. Yeah to me me look. Drew brees if he has a business card. It would just say professional quarterback go back and watching that tape. It was really teaching tape just the way he was able to find any type of a breakdown breakdown they had. There was no play where you saw. Man They busted and drew brees didn't find it. They run one play where they're trying to Run kind of a rub route on a crosser. It's almost like that elevator. You're screening basketball where you've got three guys direction. One gone the other way and a play was obviously designed to go to the right. Were that guy's GonNa fight through the traffic and then I it's not there and also out of the corners I drew sees that they've busted on the backside he gets the ball out there Then I was curious to see what about the arm strength and Buck. When I went back he has a fifteen yard Out that's on time on the money on the sideline which that test your arm strength and another one Down the middle of Field Ted Ginn in the in the middle of about twenty to twenty five yards and those are Dr throws. Does your thumbs messed up. You can't make those throws so I think drew brees One hundred percent healthy and rocking and rolling you know. Here's here's what's interesting One thing that you talk about with drew brees I think this actually may work in his favourite. When did saints get ready to go for the playoffs? I think you remember the last couple of years. And we've seen drew brees down the stretch. His arm doesn't necessarily have the pop. Well what has happened with the thumb. They've kind of had a natural load management plan where he may be a little fresher down the stretch and we've seen in recent years. Also I think when you look at the saints I think the team factor needs to be talked about. I think they may be the most complete team when you look at all aspects of their roster their office talent the fact that will Tavis Murray has gone for one hundred dollars in back to back games. You look at Michael. Thomas continue to do what he has done. Be Dominant Receiver and the inside where you can't guard him and indefensibly Salihi look. I know they hit on that year. Where they brought Marshon lattimore and all those guys but this defense is actually playing very very well when I look at this team? You don't see glaring weaknesses this is and I think that is one of the reasons why we have to consider them the best team in the NFC. Even though there's a team that has a better record out there just a quick one for me. Mark Ingram was so good in this offense offense. I think we all wondered. What kind of hit will they take? Not having that one two punch but Latavius Murray has been one of the best free agent signings. This year has been so good especially especially with with no Alvin Kamara last two games. I find it hard to believe. He had his first receiving touchdown. This past week he got into the end zone. He's been so and then Michael Thomas a a watch Al Marvin Harrison. He is on pace to break the single season receptions. He's ahead of schedule in fact so fun to watch those guys buck. What's next to Shawn Watson playing like the MVP seconded to at the Oakland? Four Watson gets the snap watch it with the keeper right side throws back in the end zone taught Garrett talks Huston man. Look this Shawn Watson is terrific but when I look at this Texas his team without him the way that he makes plays the way that he bills them out a basset. I mean he is really the most valuable player not only have their team but you can consider him of the League. The plate at he made to really win the game when he spins around he gets kicked in the throws a blind fast to Phil's for touchdown that is unbelievable. And the thing about the Shawn Watson that is really really impressive watching him kind of grow immature eclipse and didn't watch him take the League by storm doing that brief wave. He is a guy that he is athletic. But man he uses his athleticism as a last resort he is willing to hang in the pocket and make those throws really. He is the ultimate quarterback when.

"And now move the sticks ten takeaways from week eight and guys we're going to get to our ten takeaways here in just a minute but there are a couple a big news cheer and a Fifth Rounder in twenty twenty one your thoughts on that move man Create a resurgence of his career. I don't know if I want to hear that I mean they got him out the school that up yeah no just you're not there to I need a defensive tackle but the price didn't seem like it was too high resigns with the giants will elevate to a fourth so if he ends up resigning there it's a it's says he develops but Leonard Williams going into a contract contract you're zero sacks this season of line is and how close they are to ruining a promising I said you'd better have some assets to go get that done today stink is all time bad group I take a short who kind of exceeded expectations if you can get the big as it alleviates some of the roster Dj last thing I'll say onyx and we want to move on here but Oh you know what I think you can get all those guys for a honey Bun I don't know any of those anybody any guy contract all they can imagine anybody really going off any of trade compensation you still got to pay the money right one real quick thing here read on hitch on this cj what it was a phenomenal game to watch with Shawn Watson pulled that thing out at the end but Laremy Tunsil so ended up on I are now in three of the last four seasons it's been a rough gopher go to to to I'm seeing also a five and a seven hyphen. Jj Watt is like I don't know if anyone expected him to come back and play the way he played over the last the Houston Texans will do what they're playing when it comes to looking at their defensive line the taxes is now no longer that how does bill O'Brien replaced it and how does he do it without empty no furniture that's Whitney mercilus right now past Russian second down in seven breeze in the Gun Murray to his right to tight ends right two it.

"Get pulled in mid day show but in going Roberts on a very busy Monday which turned out to be a busy Monday the jets don't go over the weekend the giant defense stock over the weekend and so this trend of bad New York football continued but Dan about ten minutes ago we were given a New York football surprise for the first time ever a jets giants trade Leonard Williams going from the jets to the giants for a third round pick and a fifth round pick that could turn into a fourth round pick if the giants sign him long term which we fully expect that they will I he did get home it is not treating a third round pick for Leonard Williams when the season is likely going no where this is probably a five or six win team there's no way you make it a trade is if you're trying to you know with the division here are trying a wildcard spot this is a move you make with an eye towards the future so we would be a stunning development of Leonard Williams is not re signed long term by the giants and so jet fans have a chance to watch Leonard Williams potentially develop if he actually does develop a these big time defensive end that we all thought he would be with the jets trapped him sixth overall maybe the bill for the giants toll free number eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six I would not want what do you think the value I get it right now we have to watch you play in life every week you know and I know I train with the giants and you know you always end up being a solid the giants but the bottom line is we got the good value back and now I'm just hoping I'm hoping they don't trade industry and I think I think if the dealers right they will how did you trade in this is because if you're going to develop his quarterback was already taken steps backwards because it a brilliant coach you got to keep their the city here is about a third round pick to try to keep this quarterback it all was moving in the right direction a lot of work to do it right now because he your last year he ended here he took two steps forward and now unfortunately he got sick or changes so much on the second six steps back because your injury because it came around you know you're going you're one point you're coaching you catch reaction may be innocent you're just taking Sam and you know for the rest of the year for the letter Williams deal the value I'm good with I don't like trade with the John is not really a day okay doesn't matter you know that's at the only goal in game Bob feeling it does bother outside it no but but you're right but you're right but is it that will bother me if he has a big game against the jets but the Y. que traded the giants no no I will I give there is some debate about this song yeah there are some differences in this but the Mets were out of a pennant race and they were gonna clearly tree J. Bruce okay they thought about trading into the Yankees the Mets are out of it the World Series the Mets didn't want to do it because of a subway series that was going to occur five there are later right right did you do you think that was dumb that was done okay so wouldn't have been dumb for the jet yeah it turned out he should have done in August saying that you at you know that you know I just don't is not great that I got to see a giant so I mean you know otherwise I could care less to iris point about the giants ask yourself this if they will have the same offer from Dallas and they took it from Dallas would you have said it's great fantastic we govern the letter got a three to five or eight two is the giant aspect that's making I told you I don't care what but I results well and I don't think you should because they're not competing they're not in the same division please try the once every four years has a hard time saying the coach thinks I mean we want to say the coach they of course but I'm saying to you see him as a baby it's cold you know it may be on may be set well I mean come on Jim is going to dinner with days of now hold gazes paint Jim Jim how are you I'm very glad that are you what's on well at the beginning of the fourth season there was word that gays never wanted bell right right now you're right you don't want to pay the money you're going to say right about that exactly so do you think gates the type of guy that would cut open yes bye baby I don't and you want to die yeah I don't get a lot of maybe yeah why not why would I think that why should I like that kind of a guy that ball yeah so the guy who's a bad cold yeah right so you don't care you know I'm gonna stay gone all gonna be bad I just got to help me but I don't care what is it let's say the their shopping Livio about what getting the LaBianca very ticked off the trailer I would too but what are you getting for him I don't know look around the league what team is kind of a shop in Amman I don't buy that well I gave me the shopping him but I don't think they're gonna like with the offers are you any like a chop them all day I don't think there's anything out there that's gonna make you say oh Gee I make this deal is it Adam gazes running off franchise into the ground yes yes not at it well into the ground so I'm sick I've had a stomach ache old like I like I woke up in the middle and I is true so I will come into like to lock in one of my stomach just kill everything about the game well I'm sure that's part of it on I mean I I I think a lot of it is that you know maybe I don't I don't know if it's if I'm thinking at all it's happening and I try to handle it you know as well as I can I went out for a walk at once the one o'clock games with on now we told the one o'clock finals are in that and then at that point if you were the last game was was the Houston game used in the rating game Palestra one o'clock o'clock and one o'clock AM I think was the Tennessee game yeah right right right right that's right that's what game and I went for about a two mile walk just to get out of my good amount of well I had it when I do suck this I can't run anymore second will say as I just it is that you get it out of my brain and I came back to watch the rest of the page you can always tend not there when I got in I got it but I mean just not so I mean I just think there's no doubt the Chester affected me yeah I know that I was hoping that the nats would make me feel better in the loss of the mother the two allows the team so sometimes the distractions work to Minnesota a ten hour you could I get it done a you know what I'm every guys ever see this show on HBO many years ago called born rich one of the Johnson kids it would have been probably the owner the jets his nephew I think he was one of the Johnsons the family exactly and he goes around the interviews all his friends who are all very very wealthy and toward the other show he goes up to his father he says yeah there are really kind of don't know what I'm gonna do is my life and again is really passive tone says don't work you don't work and so then I I don't remember when woody Johnson bought the team but sure there after a P. by you by the team I think you know these guys are never going to go anywhere owners of really just doesn't care I mean just well you know I don't work it doesn't matter I've given all this money all my life who cares I mean sorry be very bad news out of this is breaking this combined with the deal and it's a common trend with a lot of teams that we both route for any of the teams that you for and I don't root for yeah I live from the guard so no it's a familiar tone we understand that but I'm going Roberts coming right back the satellite lounge presents an evening with progressive it took a bit of a risk Singin that song but of course.

"Know they they Notre Dame's offense line had a had a heck of a day. And you know, they were they were in catch up mode, a lot of time. But the thing that stood out even the when they didn't win the game Sam battled. And he, he never he never backed down. And he competed all four quarters, even though things in goes way. So you know that that stood out on my initial exposure to Sam, then when I get back and watch the tape after after the season's over see a lot of special traits with him. You know, the, the athleticism the quick release. The accuracy the ability to go through progressions quickly, you know, all the things that, you know, make quarterbacks good in this league. I think he's a young man that has those traits what stood out to you about the rest of the jets roster that you are inheriting. You know, there's some exciting pieces. You know when you talk about a guy like Jamal Adams, you know, just a fierce competitor warrior mentality you have quitting Williams. There's one of the best alignment, if not the best deal lineman in this past year's draft Leonard Williams, young young talented defensive lineman. And then you mix mixed those with some, you know, you addition, some really good additions like CJ Moseley, you know, best linebacker in the free agent market Levy on bell best running back in the free agent market. You know, guys like Colette you assembly, you know, rugged tough guard, you know, and then. And then a lot of people might not recognize his name. But a guy like Robbie Anderson, you know, explosives vertical threat that you have to be aware of on the outside. I mean, they're they really are some some very good building blocks here, I think rob, he's got a chance of a very big season. He's taking care of himself this season. And he's right and healthy as a chance to be very formidable. He's, he's dangerous. I mean all you have to do is throw on last year's game against the Broncos. He he showed what he could do. Did you sit down when you're interviewing for the jets job in watch this roster like that, because you just brought up a performance that Robbie engine had against the Broncos. Do you watch things like that before you accept the job that you watch this team after you took the job? How does that work? Yeah. So you know, once once the notification came in from the jets and you know how you're not talked about the opportunity you wanna be prepared. You want to be prepared to talk about the roster. And so I was able to go back. I had had a few days to prepare for the interview and part of that preparation was was watching game tapes. You know, I can't sit here and say I watch all sixteen games. But I was able to watch at least four games on both sides of the ball, just to get a little bit of feel. So I could talk talk about the roster before the interview, and that worked out pretty well, I guess, I think so what stood out about that interview there. Joe to you. Yeah, it was great because you drive up. And so, you know, it was it was an easy drive up in. Luckily, no traffic on the turnpike and was able to get in checking in the hotel running run, right. Into Christopher Johnson able to spend a couple of minutes with him before we went out to dinner and you know, it's the first impression is wow. This is a good man. You know, just a genuine just a genuine straightforward. Honest guy. Just just you could tell that within the first couple of meat minutes of meeting them, go out to dinner have a great time with..

"I gotta get the talk hockey which on every retargeted at the bike lanes. And the bike lanes are basically blocked all over the city. I think we'll be it'll be mostly bike lanes. And then we'll sprinkle some hockey. And now look forward to that. Yeah. That will be some fun coming up in two hours showing a in studio. Now, one of the thoughts that came out of this draft locally was that the giants are now being mocked like the jets used to be mocked that everybody's laughing at what the giants did. And here are the jets acting like the giants just going about their business. And nobody seems to be criticizing them if anything it's there heaping praise of what they have done. And then a report comes out where if this were to happen. Then all of a sudden we'd be talking about the jets like the jets again. And it I started with Mike Lombardi now, Mike Lombardi is a guy who has had a bunch of jobs in the league. He also he was with the Brown. There for a while. He did a bunch of TV stuff. Patriots patriots as well. Close friends with Bill check the okay. So. Yeah. So Mike Lombardi puts out that don't be surprised if the jets make major changes to their scouting department, including may be moving on from Mike maccagnan general manager after the draft because there's a lot of crap going on in there. And then there's some other stuff that starts flying. All rumors all rooms that Adam gays and Mike maccagnan have been at each other's throats free agency, and they aren't on the same page the players that they're bringing in and that center from Denver, Matt Paradis, he was the guy that Adam gates wanted without question. Mike McCain's pursuit of that didn't match what Adam gays wanted. And then they've tried to sit down and get in a room and work it out. It's just not working and Mike maccagnan after the draft was going to be fired. So it still hasn't completely calmed down. Because there hasn't been anything yesterday. But it doesn't mean that it couldn't happen at some point early on this week. But you know, the jets do you believe that there is any truth to what's going on with Mike McCann could the jets actually fire the general manager that they kept that they used in the coaching search that they now have spent another draft class with this general manager selecting the players and then fire him after the draft. We like, you know, I guess there's always a smoke fire kind of thing. Yeah. So it wouldn't surprise me. But it would really disappoint me. Because I think what do I thank you. My I would Mike is done here. The last year and a half has been pretty damn good. I mean, he traded up. He got Sam darnold that we liked them. What we do too. Now. Sam darnold turns out to be the player that we all expect them to be then that is going to be the. Weather in his cap, and that's why he should keep his job. You know, a couple of these guys Jamal Adams, Leonard Williams, win Williams all fell the him in the draft you and I have made those decisions you know, what I mean? But there's a little bit of luck involved. And he's got those players, and he did sign CJ Moseley, which I think is going to be a big aspect to what? Greg Williams is trying to do on defense. I think if there is a difference of opinion in that in that building over there at him. I would say that it was probably tied to Levy mbelle. Okay. I sent I think we all think of Levy umbrellas, this potential hall of fame player, this guy that was such different difference banker. Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers to the point where Sam darnold talking about about way. But we don't know what we're going to get from Le vian bell. And I don't necessarily know having a guy like levian belt in that locker room given what he did. And what he was a part of the Pittsburgh locker room is what the jets really want what Adam gates really one. There's no way. Remember he had a big problem with Jay Ajayi ended up trading him. They got rid of indomitable sued. They got rid of a lot of guys down there in on that team because he felt like he had to be able to control the team. I think that's one of the reasons why Gettleman Shurmur are Pershing the players that they've purged from their own the culture problem have. Although those are the buzzwords, but the point being is can the coach control the locker room and can get players who absolutely truly love football on his roster. That's what everybody keeps talking about. Does. He really love football as he really do it. Well, Daniel Jones is really into it is Wayne Haskins really into it. Or is he into being just more of the celebrity quarterback as opposed to really dive in and digging in and eat and sleep at a drink and football. I. I don't necessarily know that Lebanon bell fits that kind of thought process, Adam gays, and of course, he doesn't and it's no real problem in that locker room if things aren't going. Well, right. Absolutely. And that is one of the things that we brought up when they ended up signing him. And it's really no surprise if Adam gates as a problem with the direction that Mike mcadams going with some of these players because Adam gates was in full control of the personnel with the Miami Dolphins. I would also say for Adam gay. So just be careful what you ask for because you know, you have not been exposed to this media hord and this fan base. Just yet. I mean, you were when they signed you, and you're kinda like with the Daniel Jones of of coaches, you are like the last guy that the jet ban wanted. But now they're starting to warm to you. They're starting to warm to the idea they an offense of guy, you're young guy, and you're bringing in Greg Williams, and there's going to be all the competition on the practice field, which hopefully is going to find his way onto the game field and you'll be able to beat the patriots in the bills. And the dolphins on a consistent basis. So I think the fan base is starting to warm to you a little bit. But just know that if you're not all on the same page in there seems to be some sort of cracker disagreement somehow, someway, it's going to find its way to the paper. And then we're all going to be discussing it. This is not Miami. Right. This is not Kansas City. This is the New York media market. And this is what Gilman's talking about this is what we all talk about when we talk about players come into play here. I mean, the jets can't screw up this honeymoon period. They haven't even played a game. And everything is great with them. They have the new uniforms. Everything is coming up jets when it comes to this off season. And this would be that thing that would screw up the honeymoon period. I think it would just be absolutely stupid to fire Mike mcalinden. Now, Christopher Johnson who was supposed to be running this thing. He's over there. More and more and more. And he is watching the interaction between people in the building. And one of the reasons why I think that they really wanted Adam gays was because he was the total opposite of of of. Todd bowles. He is involved. He is over there. He's todd. You know, he's like Adam he's interacting with the people who work for the jets. There's a real positive energy in that building. Now, they're all crazy, all coaches are crazy. But this guy is brought a level of enthusiasm that has been missing for the last four or five years. And by the way, if you're the Johnson family if you're Christopher Johnson your Woody Johnson. And you were sold a Bill goods by Charley Casserly on all these people. Right. Right. Would you wouldn't you feel like, you know, you want to grab hold of what's going on here? Because I be really interested to know what the background was on the potential hiring of Adam gates at what people were telling Christopher Johnson. What people were telling what he Johnson. Yeah. Yeah. Me too. I think Christopher Johnson though, he has to stick by what he believed in when he kept Mike mechanic, well now make a turn on a dime. Do whatever he wants. He was one reason he is the biggest reason why Adam case is the head coach shores, Christopher John. That was that was his guy in the process, and maybe might be Cagney did watt Adam gates, and that's another part of this rift that may be happening now. But I mean, if you're Christopher Johnson, and you make that decision that. All right. We're going to go and get a new head coach. But keeping the general manager. I mean, I don't think that you can just twist in the wind, and then all of a sudden after a little bit of a oil in water with the new head coach now fire the general manager that doesn't look like a man who was leading to me. Well, but you never know how relationships are going to unfold until you until you see them. I mean, it's that bad. I don't know. I'm not sure if it is or not I I'm not advocating for me after what I thought Mike vocabulary did last year to get Sam darnold. I thought to me that that would give us a couple years as general manager may be the end of the coach which ultimately was, but I think it would give him at least a few more years. As the general manager. And I think he hit the park with quantum Williams. It's only one player and this kid polite that they got from Florida while this is going to be a player that they're going to dump on Greg Williams desk and say look do something with this kid. This is too good physically not for us to put them and find a place from on the field to make a difference. The question is going to be here. Long term. That's that's going to be a big question with that kid. But I would just say that for me. I would not fire him, and I'm not I'm not even a part of the group that would advocate barring him. But then again, I'm not internally over there. So I don't know if there are, you know, how he manages the ownership group how he talks to the people in the office. He has you lock himself in the office as he does he get involved in all the other stuff. So you're telling all, right. So you're telling me, if I'm if I'm reading the tea leaves here, there is a chance that Christopher Johnson is now more involved has a clear picture of Mike McCann and the general manager now. A good way to put it. He was before he decided to keep like, so he's so he had an idea. What might make hanging was? And now that he's more involved. They hired Adam gates now he's looking at him gates and saying, well, you know, I kind of like the direction Adam gates is going. I don't love Mike maccagnan's going with this. So there's a chance that his mind has been changed by the work ethic and approach Adam gaze, where he would think about moving on from Mike McCallum, this this is how I would put it when Woody Johnson.
"leonard williams" Discussed on The MMQB: 10 Things
"There's a ton of possibilities do things. Unfortunately, all of the openings are tied to a sitting GM here, which you know, there's one GM turnover this year and eight head coach. And that's obviously in Oakland, which we're the head coach is turning over. So that part's interesting because I think that that's I don't have a huge problem with that. As a lot of other people. Do the reason why is because. I think the job of the head coach is to look at the specific year. They're in the job of the general manager is to look out for the franchise over like a five year period. And I remember the Browns were going through this a few years ago where they turned over their GM like three times in four years. And I remember somebody saying to me it's like house anybody gonna go in that job and be looking out for the long-term future. The team when they know this guy just fired like three guys who were like two years like how could you possibly go into your job and be looking out for the long term like the long-term well-being of the team when you know, you might not be there for very long. And so I think that that sort of plays into it with some of these and the other thing, of course, I think a lot of owners are just afraid to blow it up because then it's all in them. Is it the same concept is like hiring search firm? You know what I mean? Like, you hire a search firm because then if I if if bleep blows up on you, then you've got somewhere to point the finger. I think it's sort of the same thing. I think some owners are it's crazy like these guys who have, you know, billion dollar Bank accounts are sitting there, and they're afraid to make the decisions for themselves that we have so much evidence that that's the way it is. I do think that the counterpoint is at this this year. There are a number of openings that you could point to and say, you know, Steve going into we'll have his third head coach Jason light will have third coach Elie. We'll have his fourth now caveat, of course, that kubiak, you know, step down to health reasons, but still so there's a lot of situations where you know, the GM's have had time and then head coaches were basically working with a quarterback they didn't pick or a flawed roster for single season. So I think that is why it sort of his jarring this year. But go ahead with the next open. So we'll I'll just say the jets like the one thing I like about the jets. I think it's got some of the some of the markings of San Francisco couple years ago where the roster was bad and San Francisco, right? But I know there were a couple of coaches that look. At that. And said, well, that's actually a good thing because it's a blank slate. So I can walk in and I can and I'm not dealing with too many existing conditions. I can go up and set it up the way I want to. So I think there are some coaches that look at the jets and say are got Sam darnold on offense got Leonard Williams and and Jamal Adams on defense. And then it's just sort of up to me how I want that to look around and some coaches like look at that as a peeling, you know, like I have an opportunity to build a third pick in one hundred million bucks to spend sort of build this. However, I wanna build speaking of Jamal Adams seems to be thinking he's Kristiansson here or something. With the coach and the decision. Interesting click it click. Tweet was a little bit. You know, how quickly confirm that like. Oh, yeah. That's exactly what. Really? He went all in saying. This is my pick for coach. Okay. Genuis start with you on this one Cleveland. I think Cleveland might be the most attractive I have to that. Most attractive in Cleveland. It is the number one job my list. I think is a fantastic job. I think it's got the under twenty five town on that team is great. And it goes beyond just Baker. I think it's like Myles Garrett and Denzel ward and Larry ogan Jobe and Djibril peppers and Jarvis Landry. Who I think is right me twenty six twenty seven, but right in that age group, like it's it's a lot of guys on rookie contracts..
Jets trade Bridgewater to Saints for third-round pick
"As suspected. It happened sooner than later. The New York Jets have traded teddy Bridgewater who was battling Sam darnold for the starting quarterback job. Sam darnold is now the officials starting quarterback for the New York Jets. They realize he's really good. He should have been number one. He dropped them at three. So the jets are going to get draft picks according to Adam. Schefter draft picks are coming to the New York Jets in exchange for Sam darnold, and this is what we theorize and the last forty eight hours is that when you add, this is what I said. Two days ago I went into this year thinking teddy Bridgewater starts and I still think teddy mornings a little bit better. But the gap is so close with darnold and Bridgewater. Are you better off the jets have one of the five easiest NFL schedules and it's real workable in the first six weeks. Trade teddy get draft picks, and just our Bill met offensive line. I don't. Here's another thing to throw out there. Khalil Mack jets have been rumored jets have Eytan elite safety, Jamal Adams, Tremaine Johnson at corner. Leonard Williams on an offensive line. They don't have a pass rusher. They were Twenty-eight than sacks. Do you get a couple of draft picks? And then you go to the raiders and say, we'll give you draft picks. We want Khalil Mack and then you've got an elite edge rusher and elite corner and elite safety. You have a defensive minded head coach. Terrell Pryor can Terrell Pryor, stay focused. Robbie Anderson, stay engaged. The got something, but they got no running backs up note, not good at tight end offensive line is really, really poor, but the jets are making a decision and they're making a decision that all of us have watched. Sam darnold is head and shoulders to me better than all these rookie
