So Dustin and his wife drive down there, they get to the campus. They're like, this isn't, this isn't FAU. They didn't even think they were in the right place because they had gone to an AAU term like two years before in Jupiter, Florida. So they get there. They show them the football facilities. He meets the AD. He meets the president and he meets a few other folks in high ranking there. And he just gets such a great impression off these guys. They want him to have the job. They put a contract in front of him, and he just signs it. He's just so excited, Mike white at Florida was the coach then dusty was on staff at Florida. His brother had just gotten the FAU job and then he goes into the bag. He signs the contract and goes into the facility after for the first time. There's a pickup game going on. The facility is terrible. The locker rooms are awful. The weight room isn't good. He's walking around and as this is happening, like a cloud of darkness forms over him, but he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to insult the people at FAU, but he's like, good God. Like, what have I done? I can't do this. What have I done? What did I walk into? Goes back to his goes back to his hotel room, his wife is waiting there. And he has an emotional breakdown. Like he's like, I can't do this. Like, I'm going back to Florida. I signed a contract. We have to get out of this. So his wife convinces him not to do that. Mike white convinces him not to do that. He stays on at the job at first reluctantly, like even a key muscadine who's now an assistant at Georgia, but was an assistant there to start. Even he gave me a great anecdote I put in the story where he got a call from daris Nichols, who was a Florida system, and he was like, hey, dusty's looking for guys at his staff. Would you be interested in going down to Boca Raton and working at FAU? And at that moment, muscadine is literally like, he gets the call. He's wiping the snow off of his car and Kent, Ohio, because he was an assistant at Kent State. And he was like, oh, wow, okay. He like, Google's the images of the campus. He's like, this looks good. I could do this. He gets down there. He has the same exact reaction as dusty may. He's like, what have I done? I left one of the best assistant posts in the Mac to come here? What am I doing? Now they made it work and in dusty made the incredible thing about it is he's been above 500 every single year. I mean, he's won a 101 out of a 160 of his games, but to go from this point where you don't want the job hours after you sign the contract to coaching this team in the final four. It's just incredible. It's unbelievable and originally the plan GP was that dusty told me this in January is like you can write this eventually once we get better facilities or some years down the road. But then I went to him after they made the sweet 16, I was like, do you make the final four? I'm writing that story. He's like, you know what? Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. I got him in a moment of euphoria. And so then on the court on Saturday night, I was like, we had a deal. He's like, you can write it. I was like, okay, good deal. Because at the same time, like you're doing this, you're like, by the way, the facilities were absolutely terrible. When I started, there's a part of that where it's like, it's not like you have upgraded sense, but like you're on a dating app, you ever hear about these stories, you're on a dating app, and you get all excited about the idea of the date, and then you get there, and it's like, oh wow, this is not, this is not what it appeared to be. You know? You got Tinder dude. That's what happened. Yeah. But now look at him. Look at him now. So that's the best story. What's number two winning it? I would say it's Yukon because of the brand power and Yukon's back and they win it all early third coach and 12 years. I would say that's probably number two, but maybe you disagree. I would agree with that, actually. Big brand Hurley that quote from a few years ago is gonna get replayed over and over again. It's coming, better get us now. Yeah, that's probably that's probably the second best story. And then Miami say the real estate we could kind of lump together. It's laryngeal winning the title. Is it learning? Listen, that would thrill me. I don't know how much that resonates, like how much that actually resonates like our buddy John Ross team when Leonard Hamilton was in the elite 8 at some point or had a team that was final four good at some point. John was on this thing where he was like, you know, how cool would it be? Like how great of a story would it be Leonard Hamilton finally getting to a final four? And I'm like, do people care? He thought it was like a sentimental thing. And it was coming from a genuine place. He'd be like, you know, people are going to love to see Leonard. And I was like, dude, I love seeing Leonard Hamilton get to a final four because I love learning Hamilton. But is that something people are really talking about? Boy, would it be wild if Leonard Hamilton got to a final four or wouldn't it be the perfect way for his career to draw near retirement to finally get to a final four? And so I'm asking the same question about Larry and Aga. I think so. Do people care? He's dancing in the locker room. There's a real grandpa's done it. Like, I don't know. I think there's a lot of that. I tell you that, yeah, like he has come across really well in this institute play tournament. I don't know if you saw his. It must have been pre game, day off, Saturday, press conference. We carried it live on CBS Sports Network. I was in studio. And he was asked pretty directly about name image and lightness, because it's well documented. That program benefited in a very public way from name image and like this. And he just, he was so good talking about it. He didn't try to, he wasn't offended by the question. He didn't try to talk around it. He just sort of talked about it candidly straight straight on. And I thought that came across really well. He's done. He has gained fans in the process of this tournament. I think that's pretty clear. And so, yeah, Florida Atlantic, then Yukon, and then, yeah, I'll go with you. Sure. San Diego state would still be. It would still be awesome. In fact, it would be the first trivia time. Okay. "It's a pro sports town. Miami and Boston college were the two that I felt like there probably the most difficult jobs in the league because they don't draw well. And Miami especially because you got the good weather and it's approach to sports town. Nobody cares so much you're winning at the highest level of my end. And then they dealt with some of the NCA bullshit. If you remember and they got cleared of all of it, but it hurt them at that time. They lost some guys that they were going to get in and never showed up at Miami. So Miami to me Lauren egg in his 70s, it's kind of caught up with them. He probably needs to retire soon. Leonard Hamilton. It is 70s. That's the one that's probably the biggest surprise to people this year. They're really down, they've been good, but they've had probes. They do not have pros this year. Yeah, and I think that will bounce back. I think he recruits a too high a level. He's done it for a long time. I think that if you look at it next year that could be back to being Florida state. I don't look at that as a problem. Then you got behaved in his 70s, brings his two kids in this year. I saw him in the preseason and I was like, all right, listen, there are gonna be days when they compete anybody, because they've got three or four elite shooters, Cole swider, finally started to shoot the ball fairly well, but buddy's not shooting it great from three, but his all round game is better. Joe girard, the problem with me, and I said this, if they're not making shots, they can't really put it on the floor. They can't they're not great defensively. They're not athletic. But not athletic. That is pretty wild. They're probably athletic. You have to be a bad zone. Long ass love. And they're not. So who's there up? Logan, my girlfriend. She's doing an art project. They executed the offices in defense of the anything our guys were kind of motivated, just wantedto go back out and not go to that feeling again. You know, you know, I think I think we're growing up a little bit true. We're also be improving. I think we will find out a little bit more about Team Charles R. Rotation, They learned how to play with each other a little better. We have a freshman court guard. There was a power forward. Always life. He's making the unbelievable adjustment. We have some four new players that were trying to integrate into our system that are important for We need to play well for us to be successful, So we kind of been spread around a little bit this year, but we plan a lot of guys. And we're playing so many different combinations. It's just taking us while the start figuring it out, and now we're way making baby steps and this team has AH, lot more improvement. "Tournament is allegedly underway. I see, you know, see almost like a combination of a linebacker who jumps like Vince Carter. Is really nothing we've ever seen before in terms of his explosiveness athleticism. But also how hard he plays and steals activity has energy just off the charts. We're so used to comparing people you really can't compare them because there's really been nobody quite like him. That's how unique Zion. Williamson is all right grant beyond Duke. You've had a chance to study the brackets who do you like beyond the blue devils? I mean who jumps out to you as a team that could could at least get to the final four not further. While there's a lot of teams, and I know a mouse opposed to say this. But I think North Carolina is really talented trouble for that. I can get in trouble for that. So I if anyone says anything I'll just pretend I'm seeing Smith, but but not North Carolina. Roy Williams has done a fantastic job. I do think UVA they've had a lot of setbacks adversity in the tournament. But I do think this is this is Tony Bennett's most talented team. And I think they'll get through and get to the final four. I think Michigan state. I know they're in the same region as Duke, but I I was at the big ten conference tournament last week. I followed them Tom Izzo. This team is just balanced tough. They defend they can score. They really don't have a weakness at all as a sleeper team. I like Texas Tech the best defensive team in the country. They got a kid Jerry Kover who's probably wanted to top five players in college basketball that nobody knows about he's capable as they are. Taking a long run. And I love Florida state. You know, I love what they've done Leonard Hamilton. They won twelve of thirteen games in the regular season.
