"They did some cool stuff where they're really establishing him a couple of weeks ago they were just dumping off to Julio constantly. And one of those losses. It was like one of the last two games that they lost where they were just snapping the ball and throwing it to him. They used that as a setup to kind of mess do some kind of high low stuff with some of the Seattle defenders and zone. Led to some big gains to Mike Evans today, which, you know, it's cool that all this stuff is happening now. They're taking some of the stuff that they were doing. They're now utilizing it as a weapon towards the latter end of the season, but Gary, that was the worst. It was the worst trick play that I've ever seen in my life, and I don't think it's even remotely close. I love the idea because it really is something that someone who's half watching the game possibly after like 7 beers in the crowd would be like, they're not even covering Brady on this wildcat. Just throw it to them. And that's fine. As like an option, but they did cover them on that place so basically you had you'd learn fournette not only thrown to Tom Brady who is covered, but the throw they asked him to make was like, that's when you draw up at the pro day. That's like, that's like opposite it was not the degree of difficulty. And I don't know, surely they didn't tell Leonard fournette like you have to throw it on. Or what? It was his poor decision too, but man, what a mess. You were asking your running back, so just in case maybe some of you hadn't seen that play, maybe some of you are German and opted not to watch this game or some of you just didn't feel like waking up at 9 30. Maybe you were a Seahawks fan, right? And you didn't feel like waking up at 9 30 or no. You got 6 30. 6 30. Yeah. Goodness gracious. Dad, body clock, yep. Oh my God. But Leonard fournette, Tom Brady is basically on the sideline and Leonard fournette is rolling out to the opposite the hash opposite the sideline. I wouldn't ask Zach Wilson to make that throw. Tom Brady is 46 and he's being covered by Tariq woolen who might end up being the defense of freaky of the year. The whole thing was spectacular. It was just so rich. And God, why would you ever throw the ball to a 46 year old man? Why? I don't know. It's a little comic relief in a day that it was. Look, this went really well for the box. This was, I thought the best they've looked since the since the opening game.

"That's it. End of story, then you don't have to worry about it. I mean, I know he's screwed with Tiger, creating his own tour of the Rory tour whenever people want to call it, but I don't know, man. The thing about Rory is like, still got Greg off ahead of him. It goes without saying, but he's not 21. Right. Or whatever. There's going to be all sorts of people coming up. So like, what's this all going to look like? Their skin probably have to be a marriage in this deal. The rumors on the street this week was John Ron was going. Like people were like popping off. There's a top ten. He's pissed at the rural tour. He doesn't want to play. Everybody thought it was wrong. I guess Ron came out and said fake news, not true. But there's more people are going to go, right? At some point, there's going to be some mergers, so maybe he's playing his cards. Maybe that's the deal. Maybe you talk shit the whole time. They were like, God, we're going to have to really pay this dude to kind of like, you know, come over to the dark side or negotiate or whatever. Who knows? I have no idea what's going to happen, but as a golf fan, I want the best guys playing plane in like mcelroy, what he thinks about the writer cop. I mean, I don't need to be rude, but it's totally irrelevant because the writer cup is run by the PGA of America, not the PGA Tour. And it's run by writer cup Europe, right? They have no say on who's on the American team. So if a couple of the guys make it, who cares? And as an American fan, I want the Americans to win. I'm not a freaking traitor, I want us to have the best team possible. So why wouldn't I want that? So then banning American guys hurts the American team, then banning Euro guys does it really hurt the Euro team at all. That's true. It's a good point. The thing that I really don't understand with all of this is that so you've got Rory you got Rory McIlroy in these guys talking against the live, okay? And you got guys that went to live. And you got PGA Tour players that went to live. And by the way, there are a couple guys on the PGA Tour that are playing this week by our boy, Jimmy walker, who's a friend of the pot, Jimmy walker, a great guy. And he's playing this week at the Leonard fournette championship out there in Napa Valley. And he's only playing because he was 54th in career money. 5 four. And four guys ahead of him went to live on the career money list. So he moved to number 50 and got a one time exemption to use on the PGA Tour, right? Because you get an exemption for top 50 career money, you get an exemption. Is that into everything or how does that happen? That's a full year. That is a full year. So you get a one year full year. If your top 50 career money, you get a one year full year career, you get a one year exemption. So like David toms is used one river. He was talking about that on FTP. Yeah. But there's a top 25 in the top 50. So Jimmy went from 54 to 50, so he had a one time exemption for an entire year and he's using it. This week, we're using it this year. He's playing the entire year, which that's helped a bunch of guys. Which I think is cool. Even though the guys that ended up leaving, obviously, are kicked out and banned forever, but whatever. Well, until they merge, wish they will merge, they will merge. This is ridiculous to not think that the lip tour and the PGA Tour will figure something out. They will. Norman and monaghan will run on the beach together hold hands and bathing suits and the world will be fine and a year probably. But until then, we've got to figure it out. And yeah, the top 50 career money list. That's kind of an interesting deal with all these guys going to live. It's opening more places up on tour for career money. Yeah, I mean, I love Jimmy walker like, I know your boys with Sam and he was on our parties and FTP guy and every time I look at his Instagram, he's like, here's this new grill. Here's the steak, reverse Sierra, like garlic butter, like I don't give a fuck. I wouldn't even know he was a golfer. I thought he was like the guy that does the sprinkles the salt. Yeah, I thought he was like the white southern Texas guy version of the guy that does that. But all of a sudden, I see pictures of him in 7 irons. He's like, here's my 7 iron swing and I was like, who gives a fuck? I was like, well, now I know why, because he's top 50 and he's practicing now. He's in an internment. And I was like, well shit, now we gotta look at 700 swings instead of how to cook a delicious steak, but I'm here for, I'm here for regardless. It's a Friday, which means Chris brockman is going to ask me a whole bunch of scenarios and what is more likely going into this huge college football weekend in advance of the first week of the NFL season also some brockman burning questions about teams 20 through 16 on his list of top teams in the NFL, all of that good stuff is here on this jam packed program. I think that no one's keeping count of. Well, the guy who employs me should know that I'm valuable enough to show up every day for him, but all I'm saying is if the mets do make the world series rich, this streak is going to come the way. Oh my goodness, all of a sudden the mets and the doctors bought by that place it out there real terrific baseball games between the mets and the Dodgers, no question about that. As the NL beginning to heat up, the Yankees are in Tampa tonight as the Yankees are only 5 in front of the braise in the lost column. You've got a lot going on the Mariners can't lose baseball games all of a sudden in the Pacific Northwest they are a terrific baseball team. Maybe they could take out the Astros for me. First Yankee's got to make the playoffs. That's how we're rolling into Labor Day weekend. My gosh, college football. You know, when I first started with the NFL network and everyone was wondering what we're going to talk about every single day of the year and football begins to start really taking off in this country. And that's really when things started to heighten, you know, was right around when NFL network began. I remember leaving SportsCenter and we were having some concepts about what we're going to talk about in late spring of that year in 2003 and somebody mentioned, how about let's break down the top cornerbacks in the NFL they were laughed out of the room. Is that being an idea to talk about on SportsCenter in late April, early May, and now the college football season, it appears, starts earlier and earlier every year, and then the games get more and more intense right out of the gate. I know the week zero game between northwestern and Nebraska and Ireland got a lot of people's attention because it was really it was the only game on the map in a way with all due respect to other teams that played each other, two big teen ten pig ten teams playing each other and in Ireland. And then now, last night, I mean, the NFL season starts in a Thursday night and now the college football season is kind of taken over the Thursday night before the NFL season Thursday night. I don't recall. They used to be just a bunch of teams and if you will, lower echelons of the FBS world or the division one world as it used to be called. Now you've got another Big Ten game last night between Penn State and Purdue. And then the backyard brawl, the first big game in the history of aqui shure stadium. Between Pitt, one of Desmond Howard's final 14s and West Virginia and last night, the intensity was late season mid season. It was lit between both games, you had a pick 6 in one, you had a puke 6 in another, you had a targeting call you had a coach who didn't go for it on fourth and one late in the game up 7 right around midfield. You had a lot of action that is causing a lot of nails to be bit down to the cuticles, and it was awesome to see last night. I mean, West Virginia in Pittsburgh, a blood sport rivalry, the backyard brawl coming down to what it came down to, and then with all due respect to you, sir, Penn State, I was rooting for the boilermakers. Last night. I know you were. I know you were. And I was a little worried. Clock management was way off, and it was just, they scored way too fast at the end. They left a whole minute. Also, backyard braw rich two teams with quarterbacks transferred in. JT Daniels goes from USC to Georgia. Now to West Virginia had a great game for the mountaineers and Keaton slovis, who was USC's quarterback. They were teammates at USC, JT Daniels and Slovaks and now he's a pit. It was awesome. Football is so, so back. It was such a great night. Nice kick-off to the weekend. And it was the first time I think 11 years those two teams have met. And growing up, that backyard brawl. Why? You know what all comes down to money with these teams, right? So the president, money I mean, I don't know. I mean, you were the same. When Pitt went to the ACC, but how about we get that back together? To schedule it right out of it. Perfect. Perfect start. Well, it's perfect for us. I don't know if I don't know West Virginia and pitfalls. I know, like you're putting seasons on the line right there. My Desmond Howard wanted to think Pitt would make the final four. That would not happen, even if they did go through the ACC undefeated with that one loss potentially. They'd have to win the ACC championship, but yeah, I see your point. And coaching our doozy lost his it's a funny thing about coaches. You can win a game and he was talking to Scott van pela after the game. It was fun. First of all, he was mad because someone at ESPN said West Virginia was going to have an advantage fan. 75%. 75 percent. He was so mad. He was heated about that so he and Scott was like, hey, I got nothing to do with this. I didn't make the prediction. But then he's like, how long are you going to give yourself to celebrate? He goes, the players will get 24 hours, 12 hours. I'm going to get zero minutes. I'm already mad. It's like these coaches just don't allow themselves rich to even enjoy just the tiniest one. I mean, that's why some of them burn out, but great start to the college football season to say the least. And we'll talk more about it on this program. 8 four four two four rich number to dial. Thank you, Jay billis. Yesterday. Slagging on pickleball. It's just something we could beat J billis and pickleball. He's got the length. He's long, rich. The issue with pickleball for tall, big time problems. No, you're supposed to just hit it. Hit it in the kitchen. And you can step into the kitchen after it's bounced. You can get in there, but if you keep it low, low, it's low is death in pickleball if you put it high, you can just like this. Come right down. I mean, if you hit it high, it's a problem. Certainly if you try to lob it over to an issue. But if you go low, it's tough. It's tough. Rich, you know, certainly if a man of a certain age, we talked to you last week, we kind of touched on a pickleball story that you didn't hear, and then I remembered that we never got back around to it. So really quickly, in Pittsburgh, there was a story that a grandmother named Meg burckhardt had sent her daughter a picture. She went looking for a pickleball game in Pittsburgh, went up to a court, found a couple guys jumped in the game with him. She texts her daughter that me and the guy in the green shirt kicked the other two guys butts. And then she start wondering why people were asking for pictures. She's like, well, she just thought because she won the pickleball game. That's why they want the pictures. It turned out that the guy in the green shirt that was her teammate was minka Fitzpatrick. Hey. And the guys that she beat were Alex high Smith and TJ watt of the Steelers. Okay. And she had no problem. Make a Fitzpatrick is on our radar screen to join us soon. We're going to have a chat. So there are men a certain age. Aren't they too? Very young. So TJ watch playing pickleball? TJ what? Damn it. Alex hi Smith. Another big difference Patrick, is he playing pickleball? He and Meg one. Last game the guy in the green shirt and the other two that everyone else wanted to take our photo. And so her daughter tweeted that out on June 11th to which TJ watt responded, Meg was serving the capital letters hate. We had trouble all day. I'm telling you, you get a certain serve hit you in pickleball. It's very difficult. It's very difficult. You would not last very long playing pickleball. So the winner was of a certain age. You wouldn't. It's a very, it's a significant workout. I think you would tap out. The court is very small. Okay, great. I've never played. I'll beat you. Great. Terrific. Let's do it. Let's see it. Biggest news of the day without a doubt is that arch Manning is chosen University of Texas to play as collegiate football crafts indeed. I just, I don't think people understand how massive this is. This is a massive this is massive. The most anticipated college recruitment probably in the last 15, 20 years. Obviously the lineage there, being the nephew of Peyton and Eli. Everyone wondering where he was going to go, was it going to be old miss LSU was in the mix? Georgia was in the mix and to go to Texas what a coup for Steve sarkisian, Matthew McConaughey. And that's right. And all the other longhorns. This is massive, especially with UT now joining the SEC. It's just going to be awesome. When do they join the SEC, not next year, but the year after? Right, he still has one more year of high school, obviously. He is going in. So the year that he's going to the SEC is the year he arrives. Right. He will usher Texas into the SEC. Is that what it is? I think so. And already projected to be the number one pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. You know, the first year that he would be eligible. I mean, anything less than a national championship. Heisman. A Heisman Trophy. I think will be a disappointment in the arch Manning longhorns era. It's a pretty big deal. Pretty big news. 2025 is when they join the SEC. Okay, great. So it'll be his what? It'll be if he's next year. Sophomore year. And then he'll come out after his junior year. Bruce Arians has said that they would need an extraordinary offer to trade Ronald Jones. I don't believe that because Leonard fournette has handled a majority of the snaps jail Bonnie Bernard has looked good out of the backfield as well. So I think a reasonable offer you can get Ronald Jones. Ronald Jones has been demoted to the second back this year, hasn't been used much. But last year, ran for 978 yards, almost 1000 yard season, and he missed a few games due to COVID at the end of the year, which is why he was unable to surpass that 1000 yard mark in which is also why we saw Leonard fournette sort of take the reins from him. So I think he's a great bag here before, only started 9 games and ran for 724 yards. So I think he's an excellent back who could fit in this system and just ease some of the pain. He won't be able to replace Derrick Henry, but it's all about easing the pain and just staying at bay at the current moment. Ronald Jones is one of those guys. Another one, which of course happens to be in the same division, sadly, as the Tennessee Titans is the Indianapolis Colts, and that is their third string running back Marlon.

I think the only real authentic one was the demarcus lawrence forced fumble demarcus. Lawrence is definitely a winner tonight. I think demarcus lawrence was awesome. But the first interception the cowboys had the trayvon digs on was a tipped ball. Off of leonard fournette. Yes that counts. Yes that's true. Yes that count statistically but you know that's not necessarily your defense making a play on the ball cowboys also got an interception on. Tom brady at the end of the first half throwing a hail. I'm this is going to be a really good year for over trading down in certain spots you know when you know a couple of the examples we went over today with like pittsburgh when you have juju diontae johnson chase play claypool all going around five through seven and you have leonard fournette ronald jones both going around six and these things can move a little bit one direction or the other but like i would like a couple of stabs in the fifth or seventh round the old to go snag. A couple of these pittsburgh players and i think that that applies to a lot of different situations. We're going to see in the draft gets late around so for those out there if you can. Trade draft picks. Just something to think about. Especially if you can't get one of those top running backs and i'm talking Not even talking link top six or seven. I'm talking like getting your choice at top three early indications to me in any to sit down and look at this little more but as we get closer to this you know the the middle half back after the first round might be a great spot to do exactly what you're saying because all of the running backs get moved up and if it's not a super lea running back then why am i gonna take this wide receiver there if i can get a hundred catch guy in the fourth round. There's just kind of laying. Around over there with cooper tyler boyd of the world. So it's also going to be a year where and no says we're gonna probably have. We have a couple more months to talk about this but this is going to be a year. This is going to be a year. I think where you hear me. It's people are going to be tough a top position. It's not a strong of a consensus running back as we've seen in years past i wouldn't even surprised. Delvin cook just goes one. You know at this point after what he did last year. Mccaffrey coming off another injury with more questions at the offense but i do think that they are the definitely the one into and after that it gets it gets even more swiss cheesy right. So you don't want wanna be kind of picking and having this this tiny feeling in your gut like how man hope barclays good in the offense and he doesn't get injured and like all of these things like you don't wanna be picking on a top five and having that kind of feeling like he you know to your point. The top end of this draft is is going to be presented some very hard decisions one hundred percent and dalvin cook missed over twenty games as i four years. This is a guy who always misses time. Yup but yeah. But i i guess these are first world problems. If you top five pick really feel sorry for you at the same time. Y- at this rate. "Tom Coughlin. The Jaguars executive vice president said Thursday that players absent from the beginning of phase one of offseason workouts, quote were close to one hundred percent attendance. And quite frankly, all of our players should be here. I mean, he's still doing this stuff. The old military, man. Buffalo's a playoff was a playoff team last year inexplicably. They found a way we had that last minute play from Andy Dalton and the Bengals that helped lift buffalo into the playoff. All the buffalo wings got sent to him the donations all that great stuff. But that was much more of a fringe playoff team. And they were one that was going to be in transition with worke quarterback. And so this year you've seen the come up from that team. A team that's been able to rally around defense that is over performed for Jacksonville. This season has been a disaster. And so you see that moment for them. And you look at buffalo, and I say fight, I say all these things about buffalo that you can spin it as a positive and endearing sort of thing. And obviously this moment isn't all that endearing to anyone. But on the other side for Jacksonville. This just seems to be the death rattle that this team is in right now as they continue to lose games as now the defense is falling victim to what happens when you've got a team that so imbalance that can't count on its offense to bail it out ever that even a defense that we know has good parts that we've seen perform well that its top level got you to an AFC championship. Now seems to be falling apart and seems to be pulling apart at the seams. When you see that situation, I know Leonard for nets offense a player, but it's the death rattle of this entire machine. And you wonder now for Doug Marrone? What this looks like for him. Because when you fall this hard, nobody walks out of this thing blameless and for Tom Coughlin and this organization. What do you do address the quarterback position going forward? Because in the meantime, your players just be punched in the face.

So are we reaching a new level here in college football in particular, where not only are they playing college football to get to the NFL? But now in some cases, they're not playing college football in order to get to the NFL new Loman creeping to that point. I remember miss year ago two years ago, Leonard fournette and McCaffrey to running back from Sanford didn't play in their bowl game to protect their draft. As remember these guys were big. Didn't last right. But these guys like they just made your bullets if they were the first ones to do it. Then both did it last year. So that was a creep in a little bit. Now. And he wants to get his kids into the NFL and get paid before an injury might happen. And here an injury has already happened to Nick Bosa to me the other part of this. You didn't even mention Kenny is that he just dropped out of school. So I mean how obviously he could care less about going to college. There's nothing nothing in his core injury. That would keep them from getting to class, right, buddy. Say well, what's the point of being in school? If I'm not gonna play football. It is October. Okay. The draft isn't until April. But I just think that this is more and more just becoming glaringly obvious point that college topnotch college players are only there. There to get an NFL career. And now, they don't even have to play pretty soon. Kenny, it's going to get to the point. They're already missed the bowl games. If injured I'm not gonna go. What happens if you're you're really great all American player. But for whatever reason your team is foreign foreign. You say, you know, what we're not going anywhere. We're gonna get in some crap bowl game that I don't care if I go to or not I'm not playing the last two games of the season. I'm just gonna sit it out. Right. I don't need to give back from some urban Meyer, probably fine with that. Because what is urban Meyer ultimately interested in next year's he's already paying. Jaguars vs Chiefs Predictions
"Hill, I guess. This is one thing. I we don't know. What's the deal with Sammy Watkins yet? Right, right. Does that limited in practice yesterday? Limited in. Practice yesterday with a hamstring and drought will be huge. They need that other weapon. I mean, this is a team that plays through their offense. Obviously, I think I'm going to give the Jaguars de the edge in this matchup. But I want to say this. I think their offense is going to play a big role in that. Because I do think their offense is going to be able to display smashmouth in-your-face football against the Kansas City Chiefs defense, which is the worst in football, and they're going to be able to keep the ball out of the hand of Mahomes too. So I think that kind of plays hand in hand. Well, I think that's really the match up that's going to determine the Jaguars offense against the chiefs defense and the chiefs defense at times on Monday night looked horrible on one of the touchdown runs Royce frame and going down the right side guys were just grabbing at him. There was no effort to try to to try to tackle him. So there are deficiencies on that defense and there won't be Leonard fournette for the Jaguars offense. He's already been ruled out with an aggravation of his hamstring injury. Can Blake Bortles do over the passing game? And I like the idea of grinding it out and shortening the game and frustrating, Patrick Mahomes and putting them in a position where he is when he is on the field. He feels like he's got to make the most of his opportunity because who knows how long it's going to be until he gets another opportunity. I still think though what we saw from Mahomes and hostile conditions on Monday night in Denver. I feel like that they helped me find even against that Jaguars defense. I feel like he'll be fine. The Jaguars have never seen a quarterback. Like this guy. Who's allusive a guy who can run and throw with velocity with touch on the run can make good decisions go left handed if he needs to they have that array of weapons, I think it's more than the Jaguars defense can handle and playing in Kansas City. Definitely an edge for the for the chiefs. But but can they slow down the Jaguars offense? Not jaguars. Offense is great. But we saw what it did a couple of weeks ago against the patriots. I really think that's what's going to decide this. When you know when you have one of these games where you've got a really great offense. And you really great defense on the field half the game the other half the game. It's the suspect offense against the suspect defense, and that's what's going to determine this one. Yeah. You're exactly right. I I look at it the same way the chiefs are horrible on first and second down if they can get the third down. I think I said this yesterday, and I believe I got to look it up. But I'm pretty sure that the number one third down defense and football. That's where they can be confusing for a quarterback was defensive coordinator, Bob Sutton.
