"To friend Angie what's up brother how you doing what's up and you know you don't want I am over there you'll probably get a hold Leon is he's across the hall of justice to set this up for that but I don't know how you could you know but WGCI in the morning he's our on our sister station he any does many things as a television show is a comedian he's but activists he's a leader in our community and we couldn't think of anyone else better to talk to this morning to sort of tell us what where do we begin what what what what do you think it yeah you guys are in there all day yesterday yes we were yeah so yeah what are you thinking man ma ma ma ma home is my friend as I sit and speak to you today is with a heavy heart and to be quite honest with you ninety percent of me is filled with anger and just to be one hundred to watch that man be executed like that on camera and have seen many of the black man executed candor to land okay Neil garner when you hear about Trayvon Martin when you hear about Sandra bland and nothing comes from these things I want people to understand I'm not promoting violence or condoning violence against anybody or any person but there's only so much so so so much you can do there's only so much you can keep boiling a situation to liberals over and this George Floyd is a boilover like there's a breaking point yeah the stuff that's going on in Chicago these young men and women are angry now I'm not talking about the people there are two types of people first of all let's explain it there are people that want to expose racism in the police force expose what happening to African American men and women out here on the streets and then there's people that want to explore I'm not talking about the people exploiting George Floyd death and just wanted it to the grocery store right the girl steals about those are not the people I'm talking about I'm not that talking about the people that are actually out here each and we can't get a fair answer anywhere we turn we try to do a peaceful thing you try to sit down and talk and it doesn't happen so for me to sit up here and not be honest with you all who are who are loving respect deluca workers nonsense I respect the hell out of everybody over there I can't honestly sit up here and tell you I'm happy with the state of affairs right and and and and quite frankly people nine color won't fully understand what we go through because you don't have to go to apply for it like I could go somewhere with Fred and be treated differently than if I go to the same spot without free right and that's a problem the nets yeah that's the first step and Leah Rogers is not with us and I I've I've been saying it all morning because I think it's so important because I've been asking for guidance to for people like you and and and and other friends of mine in the community you know what what do I say what's the right thing to see because I can never I could never understand what it's like to be you I can empathize I can hurt anything to want for change but I don't know what it's like to be useful so I don't know always what to say what the right thing is what to do except to be supportive and be a listener you know and I am not the one that's the best thing that's the first time being able to listen to a lot of people are not able to listen and they won in polls had a steal the handle on the situation that is just not happen today this is four hundred years of systemic oppression and how people are being treated as less than a third of a person this is in the constitution this is not anything I make it up this is not conjecture at one point in time I don't know if they amended it but in the constitution we were considered as a third of a person you understand what I'm saying so at the end of the day of Fred and you you know the starts with listening estos just sitting in the room and absorb and what's going on and there's been a huge you can you can grow we don't grow up the same way none of us did that's what all makes us unique people but when you say what what can you say to make it right there's really nothing you can say your actions have to speak right because we've heard to tell her we're going to do this with her we're going to do that and then you turn around and the guy stands over a black man like he's a big game on and then you wonder why some people are enraged NMS anyway when king background we will MalcolmX was zeroed in executed so you know it's just a tough time and all I would say is you know if you have friends be receptive shouldn't listen just sit in the room and absorb and soak up what's happening you you'll never feel the pain that they feel I mean it's a shame I have to talk to my daughters my nephews about how to survive a confrontation with the police it is it is that we want to do that we don't have to do that as parents you have to do that and you had to grow up that way and and it's so important I think is well for people that you know don't understand for all those of us that are not in the black community to check people in our lives yep that are saying things or doing things that they're they shouldn't be doing that the jokes that they tell that you know we have six people and tell them why that what they're doing is wrong and I don't think you know you're sitting at there's always that you know that racist uncle at thanksgiving this talking about all his races things you gotta check people and not just sit there and let people you know spread these views in these messages that are completely racist and wrong energy Everett if that doesn't happen then I don't want to come back to me saying we down for it because we know in this which you know not yeah yeah you can't tell me you're not in this with me because one is said and done you're going to go back to your peaceful area where you live and I have to deal with this yeah like I said I shouldn't have to talk to my kids about if you get pulled over driving my car this is how you got to deal with police should not have to do that at the father because now not only am I worried about him just being out in the world as teens or whatever but not a word about the people that are paid to protect them looking at them crazy and doing some wrong swim and you know it just comes down to understanding this and be quiet Sidna won't listen to your plans see what they're going to see what they're going through because you can't tell them what they are if you can't tell them what they're going to you have to listen yeah watch yet to be resolved you have to be receptive and like you said when you see somebody acting up with their firm that's a little off color chapter yes yeah that's it you have a choice we we do have a voice by the way and this is I don't intend to make a political statement you know do what you will but but you know what's what's happening with our community leaders watch what's happening on on the national level and and cast your vote do what it is that you have to do I mean check it that we're talking about prosecutors talk about judges were talking about you know at home ever I mean we have to we have to look at this from every level and I know you have to go oddly a lot Leon Rogers and WCI is our good friend and obviously what he's our competitor but you know what it is yeah I do I want to play one last thing before I leave and you know the offense man you know Iraq which are and I and I don't want people to think this is free and you reaching out today well actually I know we we thought we should that we drink together we take it you know and and I understand where they're coming from Mr it's a good natured thing and I well I want people to understand where I'm coming from is I want you to really see what's going on I want you to see your pain I want to see her but I I and you have got to give a special shout out to your husband Jason he text me at two thirty in the morning and it was crazy god had me up and will cry is there was but we care about because I was so angry I could not sleep and chases worse to me like calming down so that's my man a hundred grand and I try to patch you pose just because it's important for us it's important for us to you know reach out to you and let you know that date I see you and that you matter and that we're with you yeah when I say it was a blessing because you need to start in the morning like out of all people was full and the message that you sent I'm not going **** because after twenty meeting him was was powerful enough to just so you know I I and I let him know that number that you know that and I'll let ya know Opry should shop will give me the platform to talk to your listeners thank you for reading come on right and I we appreciate you we love you and you know I got a busy day but you have a loud voice and a respected voice and that's what we want to do well with us and and I know you're gonna you're gonna share that with the world as as we move forward let's continue to be great Chicago we don't get through this the cold in nineteen and there's George Floyd thing I just want you to recognize the one all I just want you to recognize that saw what you did listen I want you to learn from the African American and people of color and I want you to get in the game if you don't get in the game get in that day and what you got to be at it with both feet you can put one foot in the boat and one foot out that was why it was so important to have you on our show this morning I'll our listeners needed to hear you say that yeah they did yeah thank you preach it you have a great day yes I'd be great the best side let's take a break we'll be back in just a second friend Angie Angie.

"Do we begin I mean I don't I don't even us so yeah I was on the yesterday for a little while and I got to be really honest when I say that I they're very few times in my life where I feel like I don't know what to say that's certainly I'm so we never had a shortage for words but the truth of the matter is as a pertains to everything that happened over the weekend and ends there's so much and I I gotta say that I don't have the answers and I can't possibly fully relates to the pain I can't at all relate to the pain that many of you listening are experiencing now as a pertains to the riding and most importantly the protest in a peaceful protest in but of course some of the violence in writing that is this come as a as a by product of that I can't I can't even begin to imagine to to feel what what many of your feeling but I I want to understand and I want to listen and I want to I want you to know that I'm a little afraid of saying the wrong thing even though I have been nine intense and my intention is to to to do the right thing to be here to talk to people I just I don't know everything I don't want to learn and I feel like I have to say that because you know here we are on the show in this platform and we have an opportunity to hear people and listen today and I think that's that's what we need to do yeah as opposed to maybe talking I think it's time to look for many of us to listen and to learn absolutely and and I don't think you should be worried about saying the wrong thing I mean sometimes that's how we learn things you know having these conversations with people who know better or people who are experiencing things that we've never experienced or never had to experience so yeah that keeping that conversation open you know especially you know people outside the black community that they need to hear certain things and learn certain things now is the time to get that off your chest and educate you know the people around you your family or friends and you know we love our listeners and so this dialogue should be both ways we want to hear what you're feeling you know what you're experiencing and what we need to do as a people to make sure that these things don't keep happening yeah I don't think it's that I'm I'm not well said by the way I said that I I think I want to say the wrong thing it you can that will be heard full or something like that but I just I have to ninety eight the fact that I just I can't relate to this I I'm no white man can yeah and and and I was I I don't I don't know I needed to take away for myself and saying it but I'm I'm I'm of the old white guy of privilege I understand that and so so when people say well I know what you mean I understand what you mean I know what you must be feeling all these people out there protesting I know they must be feeling I I can't possibly be really but what I can offer is a tremendous amount of empathy and a desire to help and a desire to use our platform in the right way and and so you know I want six phone calls a little bit I want to hear from people here people are feeling what this makes you feel like to watch this stuff what it makes you feel like like many of us to live among it you know my building the the front of my building is boarded up did I ever think that the building night that I lived in the city of Chicago would need to be boarded up for safety reasons no I didn't you know that I think that that we would be doing curfews and and and having to close the loop in public transportation is closed and and somebody says no I didn't I didn't it's scary it is very very scary it's very scary it's very sad we live in the most beautiful city I think in this entire country and to see it the way it is right now it just is heartbreaking yeah and you know I understand everyone's anger people should be angry but the damage is devastating yeah I mean I don't even know what to say about that yeah yeah so yeah I would I'd love to hear from you know our listeners I feel like they're our friends we all chat every single day so no one is feeling the other point I was making yesterday was was that I feel like a lot of this looting in the damage in the burning of cop cars and and the violence and all of that is it is without question I don't feel it is without question taking away from a much greater more significant message here which is justice for George Floyd and his family and I just want to say that if you are one of these people who are admitting on the news that you have nothing to do with this that you are that you are not in fact there in any form of support for the for this very important social movement that's going on right now this this is this the but in this moment of humanity yes if you're just causing problems to cause problems then you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself and I know you're not listening to me now could you probably you don't care but I just it's unbelievable to me that there are people out there who would who would read who would make this somehow about anything other than what it is and take away from this statement that's happening right now and give anyone the ammunition to say well look look at that look at look at the fact that our city is burning down that that's not in my believe what the vast majority of the people who are protesting are about you know you rest your voice use your body used to be peacefully protest fill the entire city I don't care but as far as burning things and breaking things and stealing things that's got to stop I also don't believe that that isn't you know you know other groups that come in from out of state I mean you can't even bias can of spray paint in the loop you know I'm saying and these are the people that are doing a lot of the damage that I'm seeing on TV are you know white dudes from out of town is what I'm saying I don't know I just it's crazy to me what's going on and there needs to be some ugly conversations some real conversations and some real solutions going forward let's take some calls eight five five five nine one one or three but I want to hear from everybody I want to hear from everyone listening now and you want this to be a positive discourse of course you're welcome to call and say what you want we may or may not agree with you but you know this that's what this is it this is is it we're here for everybody and and hopefully though most of what we're hearing and what we want to hear is from are you know we have a a white leaves the vast multicultural audience and they're going to be people who can't believe what's happening can't relate to it but it they're scared and they want to talk about that and then of course there are people of color who listen to us who are directly in the midst of this maybe you're one of the protesters maybe you've maybe you've been part of all of this and you want to talk about your experience and everything in between eight five five five nine one one or three five will do that also later on this morning about a half an hour from now a good friend of our show he's on our sister station a morning show on WGCI he is A. as an entertainer a comedian he is a a pillar of the black community in Chicago and just an overall great do Leon Rogers is gonna join us because I want to hear what he has to say about all of this first time you know what better person to ask then than a guy who's just right across the way he's on WGN morning I know they're dedicated to talking about this and get being involved in the community as well so we're gonna bring him over in a little bit one oh three five Fred magic good morning.

"That I believe that that and I've said this a thousand times at nauseam this morning I believe that this message is is predominantly a message of of of of the evolution needs to take place and it is not to be did the violence in the burning in that diluting it can't attract from that right he is but he just can't yeah absolutely I mean it it it definitely is very effectively I mean and now I was not trying to go to the store but I'm essentially trap why am I going to wear anything candle store can't help restaurants of clothes and stuff like that but you know it's part of the whole racing down I mean it definitely have it start with our well yes I believe that we as black people we also need to help us out in our communities by building each other up instead of down on the bottom on one particular yeah right we all have to do it together the only way things like we all do it's not white versus black as a lot of people have been saying it's it's everyone versus racism right now it's it will all have to have the message and we all have to have conversations and we all have to listen Justin we gotta move on B. please guys a from thanks for sparing thanks for holding I have a good morning thank you I'm I'm I'm coming off preachy I don't mean to come off pretty that was my that was my one goal this morning was I wasn't gonna be a pretty but and then here I am TJ good morning welcome to the show how are you yeah thanks for holding I know you held for a long time but what did you want to say I'm sorry I'm just so full of emotion and while being on hold I've been listening to other people and it's delivered so many products and all the people that are just talking about the looting and the storm broke eight children more I always feel like people are more upset about their target being close to other one might be closer than not leaving their house or if we need to stop and think of human life this is what it comes down to like when I saw that life leads that nobody on no no no yes no that's it okay that video yeah the video of George I mean how will we ever get that image burned out our brains in Missouri and we probably shouldn't we should we should never forget that and keep that image in R. and be angry about it and make sure it doesn't happen again and it's just a lot she held for like an hour please call back we'll get you back on Jessica welcome to Fred Najee how are you good morning good morning hi Jessica would you want to say noninterest with no heart we I have to teach our children you know what try being outside Chicago yesterday my eight year old what's going on yeah explain it to him how do I explain things like friends are treated like black friends brothers are treated that way why I can understand yeah it's it's that's a whole other let me there's so many layers here and you know when your parents in it is you know my child is looking around terrified she knows why it's happening you know but I I guess I would just say you know you just keep talking to your son about at it and going to say I don't have the answer yeah it's where I would I would imagine as painful as this is Becky and I'm asking because I don't know Jessica is an opportunity to have that dialogue is this yeah from where sars is something hopefully positive right here on my shoulders HM there you have it yeah you got to share the good the bad the ugly this is very ugly but it's they need yeah it's a teachable time with our children yeah Jessica thanks for calling thanks for sharing I know it's hard take care have a good morning site leases but what's that nothing well PJ was there and she dropped again so so here's Lisa we gotta get PJ Verizon phone as well come home Lisa hi Lisa welcome to the show thanks for holding all right thank you thank you you too you know what I've been listening to you guys for like twenty years your my all my way home from work has we've been on for Thomas we like fifty one flight we can't move that involved in dance and then don't even track yeah I wonder if they will you know when the corpsman nineteen build down and and everybody came home even the movie stars hello this is a good chance to raise you choose I understand if you don't like the girl saying informed me about is scary but this is the time to tell the truth I remember and you know you don't talk about that don't say that no nasties children know what is going on in this time and age and what we're going and I'll be the examples you know I fear that it might be even more chilling but this is the time but hearing impairing teen birth death me and the children your home with my thinking by but I think we're we're back to the movie stars who may need and raise their children well and where I came from it was the neighborhood then you know and my neighbors and my neighbors the mother of my neighbors my friends my mother's friend saw me doing something there I'm going get spanked by her and you know not disciplined use sh I feel to be young he is these parents the younger parents the fans that are at home with their children and we have a whole some less hoping to get back matter in September talk to you like you say you were having a conversation over the radio and I think it's the best thing you ought to be doing guys I appreciate you like about the listing of the twenty but but the younger I think this is the time even talk to your children I don't know what's going on make them understand that the color of your skin does not make a difference of who you are in your head you know yeah well Lisa thank you for that and thank you for holding and thanks for listening for thank you you are thank you yes thank you I believe so thank you we love you have a good day twenty years that's dedication PJ PJ is backed by TJ and I'm not gonna touch my phone this time Hey say what you want to say to just hurry up before hangs up again you know I just want to say it like you can build your target again good you will have it stored again he going for Khan will be back in business again you're answering your uncle's pizza shop and I know I feel bad for small businesses and people of minority and colors that have businesses but I've lost people close to me a number of reasons obviously and I if you're years from that large and if I could have saved up and put the pieces of their body together just hugged them one day George Ford mom can not do that you can't think about for twenty years and bring him back and I don't care take everything from target you want to come into my house and take everything in just barely my life and my loved ones by mode all you want is and I don't violence is not the answer but at some point and unfortunately with many people you have to affect their pockets to get an answer when we have become so selfish that the only way to get attention is to reach into someone's pocket that's what's happening I hate saying it and I don't condone this at all is what I'm saying but I'm saying you can't bring a life back if that was your son your brother or your husband you can't bring them back you can bring the stored back he alighted very fragile let's go back to back you know like that man the light will never come back your stores will open one day six months from now and my other point is to the police officer that called and I know into your house are on that same I tried I think I think we all did yeah I want to stay in a very respectful way I do believe that not all offices are bad obviously and I'm sorry that he feels like all officers are being treated badly and that he's afraid to go out but guess what that's your job that's not the color of your skin all black people sometimes are looked at as bad people that you can change your job they can't change their skin color worried that your job is going to make people look at you differently I'm sorry or get a different job yes in the old white black here he can't do anything about the color of the skin and then talking to him from the moment he was born you know we just like just a little bit to have compassion think about your own family members you want to lose them to something so down so I don't know I just existed so many emotions but that's all I can say and I'm also in the end and I just want to make a point to what Leon Rogers was saying we do have to make everyone aware you know it all right said white people you know we all make jokes I know people of many different cultures I have friends that are all different races and colors and our family members joke but you know we have to change that guess what the civil rights movement was by Martin Luther king suite with a black man that was all done by people of color and we as individuals sitting in this country now better immigrants have all of our right number right some of our right because of that movement yeah so join forces and be thankful because your kids will have more right because the facts TJ thank you so much for all of that is you know and I know I know it's raw and we we're grateful that you called thanks for thanks for getting back with us after after losing connection have a great day okay okay Hey I route you pick up on that last line and access our butter boy lieutenant Steve lieutenant Steve good morning good morning right our Tennessee now hold a lieutenant Steve is our body from Hammond police department he has he is knighted me and made me a I'll sell a lieutenant of the Hammond police department I haven't got my bad yet though but "It won't get five five seven five shots number one for hip hop and I'm being on the line of Day. We're going to talk a little. Mba My man. He has the inside scoop if you will on all things. Nba My man Brandon Scoop Beam. Jackson what's up Bro? Working my tail off are you man. I know you're out to secure in the bag. Some nice bags by the way too. I follow me on instagram yet. Guilty as charged I man. Let's talk about this Kobe. Nineteen pandemic and how it's affecting the NBA and the NBA is even still taking about getting them. Play outside because that's a lot of money man a lot of money. I'll tell you that what I have heard through the grapevine as that they are considering darting anywhere between June and August. And would they do resume as it'd be about six eight-game remaining schedule on the docket and then from there they'll start a playoff? I scoop of acts of course is so when the playoffs start going to change the format of the playoffs to shorten them like go back to like. They used to back in the old days. Best three out of five first round and you would change it or where they keep it as is hear that it would be back into active gang series. You know the way that I'm hearing it if the first of three games to win so I guess you're right. That's three out of five now. How does this affect? Some teams? Like the Lakers. Were on a roll are they. Were healthy. They were doing their thing. And then some teams and I was talking to a Stephen Jackson about this. Some teams were in the process of building. Their chemistry liked in Los Angeles Clippers. Everybody would gather. How's this affected some changes and also. How does this affect the REX? You talk about. Chemistry took the clippers. Kawhi Leonard Paul George that thing into a fake where you know. They had chemistry from LANC- than they are half that load managed to make baseball players. That until record one thing I did want to ask you If they do start these playoffs so late as we get into the summer. How is that affecting preparing for the next season beginning for the next season? We know what's interesting our or Christmas days. You Remember Derek. Worlds and his relics staple center against the Kobe. Bryant and the Lakers back then. I think that it's going to be interesting to see how the following sets up particularly. Because you wonder if there's GonNa be football because football's outside you know so you look at the logistics the NBA. Kinda is in a precarious situation. Where I think honestly this computer setup for the next couple years as their Internet will be the number one sport in the country. In my opinion football had a chance of that now for basketball to shop a lot of watch that for so Howard decides six survived the other player's GonNa be with their wives. Well I'll tell you this. The players got their checks on April. First and then it's going to be questionable weather dot the fifteenth out of. They'll be able to get him more. Check onto your questions. Regular people are getting paid like that and the NBA players. Checks are limited now so now we are sidekicks affected the Strip club. Everybody's affect me. "You guys own a host of later with Leon Leon Rogers on under the hood he'll never forgive part Leon and I were very aware of what was going on with our Kelly early in his life I remember this as and I'm a class of ninety sar member this as a so yes arm so in eighty nine ninety I heard stop and then when I start working at Casey you always heard Hey you know just what you know R. Kelly's pulled up in his blazer right after chilli queue in front in front of us Kenwood academy so you can see this you really need to watch this but you seem artist right what what stands out listen because I don't know the lot of this is not surprised I did not have I watched a little bit documentary I didn't have to like this is common knowledge only thing probably some new stuff is that some of these new girls that he has but here's my thing and I got into some debates with a couple of friends of mine and I said are they was like well I'm not defending our Kelly but once you say that I have not us in the man is in his fifties dating teens but there's nothing listen I have three teenage daughters in nineteen fourteen and one a six I told my but as I said if any one of you all came to my home to pick them up I would kill you flat out yes No all bets are off I'm in your house out in I said there's something wrong with him yes he has issues stemming from childhood or whatever before you ought to sit up here said well you know the sixteen year olds know what they're doing and that's probably true because kids and teens will scheme to get whatever they want but you as a grown man have the ability to shut that down okay how fat she is I don't care if she don't look like she's sixteen at the end of the day you talk to a long enough you will vet the process that you will come upon something that she has no idea and this is true for for me because if you're in your thirties and I start talking to you about something world events kind you don't know about it I don't want to talk to you right right that's all the mint mentality has to be but it's easy it's like Fishin in a pond look at this I can offer take if that is what I can offer gym shoes here yeah I'm a god only you know and and and it's a promise always been like that so when would people with the whole outrage of the documentary I feel like that was for people outside of Chicago because I feel like if you were here in the entertainment industry in Chicago no man knew about until about it all the time you know about out of time it was Nash it was nationwide news when he beat the trial so somebody listening to our show right now it was none of the hood Leon Rogers studio with us somebody's listening say well why didn't you say so the well here here's the thing you hear a lot of stuff I mean I'm I'm without the side so I I so I'm group what twenty minutes from can would you heard stuff when I was working doing radio okay Casey you heard things you didn't know the names but you knew that this dude is grown **** man had his blazer with the ticket windows in front of a high school and the police even outside of school in doing because it's like well he's going to try to get one of these young ladies a big break he know you exist at all he's a star right they didn't know he was Fishin for able to put in a stable to control their minds and raise them up to he wants to be so if you catch them at fifteen sixteen and you in bed this and a lot of time the seventeen eighteen they really believe that you're looking out for them you know the a Leo story this thing is yeah yeah the same thing the same thing people are getting mad at our Kelly for right now but they idolize but should die one will write a shot of the Dow wanna shut up means to see more on them but that's what it is and I'm a finance some poor misguided soul who's mentally I know my level and I'm a truck that struck and they don't walk whoa and I benefit from it were to get out not the story of a leader use it more heartbreaking because we knew I mean shame on our parents similar appearance but but we knew that she was fifteen against me he was twenty nine right but let's say they forged documents they with eighteen but to thirteen and that's crazy yeah you know so so listen my wife is seven years younger than me I mean we got I met her I was twenty six she was nineteen is there was I tell everybody she was living with a moment of that all right so you know I'm saying like you you're still under my roof I'm still doing for you your child you were a child and people can say whatever they want to buy these young girls this younger that as a man issue a responsibility to stop yes and I don't think so not a problem in the African American community right now a lot of our men I'm not around so these things happen even where rock even when I tell you I feel like if they were positive males in his life they would have got him help earlier for whatever he's went through because it's obvious that man is went from something I'm not condoning his behavior but he's been through something something has happened to him where you grew up feeling like this is okay I can do this I don't see what's wrong with it remember remember the interview he did what to write on ABC when he goes well what do you mean by when you say Tina right what do you what I mean right see scenes you no worries yeah but really do at the end of the day to do a musical genius absolutely no question I mean we grew up on his music yes you could you could literally say he's our generation's Marvin Gaye but without a problem but with all the stuff coming out it kind of makes when the inspiration for the songs weren't even able to get into Arlington park race track without a a guy parent that kind of makes it tough so really long form conversation that's in the archives of into the podcast with Leon Rogers not talk not R. Kelly because that documentary came out we talked about it we had a terrific twenty nineteen and we thank you all year for listening and be part of our program here on ESPN one thousand thanks you for listening thanks to my staff Tyler Shawn Eric Felix check out the feelings as well on the other side of the glass our team here and under the hood which on the telly Carter doc Walker you're consuming on rice in principle Qamar Jesse and Brian Hanley the brown Candace Parker Tim Anderson Dumpty Pongo the late check topic Kelly car all part of this bad stuff go to the archives check out this podcast under the hood which are the hope that you have a great holiday in a great new year and I will talk to you again at twenty twenty four under the hood with Jonathan her.

"Did this we did I mean Felicity Huffman. what she said is probably inexcusable still to a lot of people but I mean if she's being sincere she had money and influence and she tried to use it to help her kid which I think a lot of parents woody. if given the opportunity yeah I mean there are a lot of make it right no not at all we innately as parents want to do anything I don't know the. I mean is that right but I mean if if Lori Laughlin had said something similar then I think that she would. receive a more lenient sentence in your life is going to jail for a while she is they're gonna throw the book at her Kristin capillary posing a revealing that black dress I'm in New York City street yesterday posted it on Instagram nine eleven with the caption. NYC for twenty four hours and what a time to be here always remember to take six clothing brands in our short post bands quickly caught on to the marketing ploy on summer day hours later she changed the caption just to NYC for twenty four hours reports say that Kristen social media manager is the one who posted a photo and caption and that manager was promptly fired should be fired yeah I guess down people we we we've got offices no better when people post a picture of themselves in a bikini and then they say of themselves in the beginning and they go into and honoring our veterans today it's like they don't know you're not you're honoring yourself in a bikini right in a preview for the printed to roast of Alec Baldwin which the air this weekend I cannot wait Caitlyn Jenner hit back at jokes about her transition by highlighting the accomplishments of her children she began on all of you are making the silly comments and jokes about how I kind of cut it off let me let me remind you it made Kylie Jenner the youngest self made billionaire in history it made Kendall Jenner the highest paid model in the world I was right I raise ten children I'm coming up on twenty grand children I didn't cut it off I just retired it it was done they'll talk to her anymore do that they're not I mean the Kendall and Kylie do but I the Kardashian girls are kind of like salty with them I think because of weather the book and now her yes sorry because of the book and and the stuff that was sad about Christian herself those jokes are written right like somebody they have already comedy writers right yeah for them to the ends well we'll do that Leon Rogers DCI our our sister station he writes a lot of those too a lot of jobs for them to more to check out online to tag let's see what we have out there you can see some of the stuff from Caitlyn Jenner when she talks about cutting it off also Selena Gomez casually popped into her old middle school of course people went crazy that Fred anti dot com there's a picture. it's going viral it's it's different anti dot com a young mother to be left terrified by her pregnancy scanned because it looked like she was growing up to have a baby inside of her when her daughter looks at the camera and grinned it does look scary apparently it's a perfectly normal picture was the twenty four week gender scanned the midwife showed they heard a tiny babies beautiful face before breaking the news that she was a girl and they rolled over the bump with that I guess I called the doppler a second time to give her one last look a teenager was left scared as your baby flesh to bizarre grand with eyes wide open it does look a little freaky the pictures of reddit dot com you can see it now hold daily now it check this out this is wild to me Hey a Paris court has ruled that a French company is liable for employees death after the worker died from cardiac arrest while having an extramarital affair yeah actually in the process of having extramarital sex with a stranger on a business trip think about this so he was on a business trip he's on a business trip his wife when he dies and having sex one cheating on his wife sues the company and one I believe that. yeah. I mean he was on a business trip he died on a business trip it's it it's not about the cheating having personal business yeah but if it is. but you're still on a business even die doing anything professional but you can you can be on a trip I mean if you're you're still live. sending him out on the road to do a job and he chose to cheat on his wife and going to cardiac arrest while shooting does this has nothing to do with the T. L. way it's about the fact that he died while absolutely not on the road for work so with the argument be that he wouldn't have died had he not been sent on that business trip is that what his lawyers anyway no I understand but I'm the thing about the cheating like it's the fact that he died while at work technically on the road for work that is crazy no lie see how it would pass I I really didn't get drunk and god for bed get into a drunk driving crash and and dying kill someone else on a business trip if you made that I don't know what the law says but if you made that choice to do that I'm I'm me as the employer I. should be responsible for that. king and driving was a legal fell but what he was doing was illegal it was morally wrong but he was still on a business it was a personal choice and it was and I'm assuming it was not in a board room a conference room or while while doing a professional duty unless he was a professional hooker but he would have died had he not gone on that trip I guess he would have died if you hadn't had if you had to me having sex with someone outside of the scope of his job I'm just trying to think like their lawyer if you want a business trip and you die in a professional doing a professional duty or you die on the way to do a professional duty that to me is different than if you make a poor choice outside of the context of your job and die. that's crazy I don't know he he would have been there though if the radio station if not for the one for work if another radio station sends. someone to do a a club remote and they overdose at the club god for bid that's not on the radio station same situation I think if you die at work it is on but it wasn't a job obligation to sleep with someone it wasn't action to do drugs it was not in it he was sent there for work the like works that he would not have been in that situation had he not been sent there by his company so I have a question god for bid what if somebody gets sexually assaulted on a business trip would that work be liable. a good question they're a victim of a crime then no I understand I'm just so I don't know maybe thinking I think is is the class only flea so what did what did all the art that the employer argued that random hotel sex is not an act of caring up professional duties the state health insurance provider that categorize the death is a workplace accident argue the cheating on your spouse on a business trip is just like taking a shower or having a meal no it's not. spills court agreed with that argument. that is. yes I would agree if you send me on a business trip and I slip in the shower and crack my head we might have a conversation. technically work what I your but in that case I was just doing every day activities and maybe that's his everyday activity I. I don't live in the shower when you're there you certainly don't have to have sex with someone is not your wife and have a heart attack if he died in his sleep. again that will be different conversation why because you're doing everyday normal activities within the scope of what would be expected on a business trip again not a lawyer I don't know didn't die because of the sex so did he yes he had a heart. thank you have to assume this this. you know you couldn't sleep yeah while on the business trip but it just so happened he didn't he had it while doing something that was not within the scope professional I don't I don't know I I don't agree at all he wouldn't have been there don't agree at all New York Post reports that Google docs are fast replacing sacks as the medium of choice among the lusty lovers which I think is also dumb because now you have a. a document rolling documents of of sexy things you're saying to one another as opposed to things that can be a race they go away partners are using the internet giant's cloud based word processing service to send flirtatious notes and suggestive images lovers typically share a single document and exchange messages both in the main body of the tax and using the in line comment function soul for example one related a boyfriend had a Google dot called bed time stories they were dating long distance and it says go to twenty seven pages wow they think it's a modern love letter it's a very fun and fantasy filled activity sometimes we just link to a radical we like Google docs gets you in the Google sheets. says them I don't know I don't know that I would want you let's say you're like riding a bunch is sexy seven posi sexy photos and and it's all in his rolling document and then something happens and you break up now you get a twenty seven page blackmail document. yeah all in one place or what if the queue what's your cloud get Zach which you could anyway they could anyway but I don't need it all in one thing that's named look at my new keys. easier for the couple involved that everybody knows you hide the newsies if you're gonna have a new document you call it twenty sixteen tax return or something you know that's I don't get a look at that trending stories bullet point to such a Thursday next at the shade on kids..

"One thousand yes. what they're grows in this new book coming up at the top of the hour right here on under the hood with Jonathan on ESPN one thousand and the SP nap shot out to the voice of our program Leon Rogers are right there we are starting is new program on fox three two here in Chicago would tear your in as as a really good program look forward to seeing it tonight so every night at ten o'clock on fox three two so look for to Leon he supports us so we want to support him on fox thirty two does a great our debut an opener for his show last night at ten o'clock on fox will have tales from the hood for you as well commute an hour from now we'll hear from the bachelorette or should I say the former bachelorette Rachel Lindsey is gonna be with us coming up at eight thirty five she's got new show on MTV that we're gonna talk about ghosted have you ever goes to someone dies you go someone who goes to lady or a guy. we'll talk about that coming up at eight thirty five part of tales mood right here on ESPN one thousand we turn now to the NFL network someone who covers the NFL like a blanket for that fine channel it is Stacey dales and she joins me job hood under the hood on ESPN one thousand ESPN apt Stacy thanks so much for joining us. my pleasure Jonathan I'm just still trying to. your ball of the first week of the NFL season you know as we get ready for retail it was a great weekend and not for their stand but you know going back to they're gonna forget about Thursday quickly hopefully for that that was a tough pill to swallow because of all the story lines that we've talked about with Chicago going into that game against the Packers on Thursday I was mentioning earlier stay so we get your your thoughts on this I can't think of the bears offense isn't clearly defined just as of yet even though the beers were successful last year a lot of it was based on the defense is there a way to define what net now he's trying to DO offense of Lee with this team because it there was not showcased this past Thursday. well hard after what we saw with all due respect to to coach navy in the team because it was so in balance I think you know the recurring discussion Jonathan as well why didn't they run the ball you know I think there may have been fifteen combine Kerry three Colin didn't didn't have a rush thank you maybe in the backfield flight and when you have like Davis and David Montgomery injury con you think okay holy cow this thing's going to blow out because they're gonna be able to really Mary the run with the past and so what we saw was just. you're right a lack of identification as to what the thing would be and I think about Jordan how you know that the thousand yard belt house now with the eagles and you know talking to folks with the bears how predictable they become with the run game and so I thought well there's gonna be some unpredictability against the Packers and certainly unpredictability when you think about Mike Patton if the defensive coordinator in Green Bay you're too but a complete new bevy of players with the Packers and what are they gonna look like but it really was just there was no rhythm I know that make you talked about that this week. hi I'm going to just look confusing and you know with the really interesting that Jonathan and I get so many great nuggets from our research team but every time I I look and I watch the roof pressure coming. one fifty according to an extent that some fifty of service these drop back he was pressured nineteen times almost forty percent of the time and that is the most of at any point in his career you think about that and so you don't know what's coming with this defense part of the time because it looks different in its new and all the emotion leading up and he really didn't have time to brief back there in the pocket when he dropped back. we'll see see you from the Packers side of things I know that they're happy with the wind but you'll be watching them again this weekend I just I don't think that the office is very sharp and I got a lot of that is predicated on it again a strong defense for the bears holding up their end of the bargain but what stood out on that side of the field for the Packers because that wasn't necessarily the vertical strong offense that we've seen from in Rogers the Packers. it's a great question you know when I look back at this game Johnson and I've gone back and watched it thirteen combined points okay that's the lowest output since we started Thursday night kickoff back in two okay so think about that thirteen point combined. wasn't able to get going most of the time credit to both the senses but when I think about what brings you to cruise has done with this team and you know use all the questions about well clean Matthews is gone and Mike Daniels is that was a shocker he's now in Detroit and. holy cow what a job at least through we've won their trade you know world has become within this defense the roster eyes they're better than people I think are going to be and we thought that on Thursday night you think about Preston Smith. Adrian Amos and that kick at the end of the game those are all new additions free agency was a flash for them we didn't maybe know that the time and then journal savages he's going to be a force to be reckoned with in their secondary so that is what it out for me and then the defense is checked with Donald he stood up to the plate taking over this this group and again it's only week one but I like what I saw from both the fences and I get to see them at home against the Vikings on Sunday. you know this whole summer going into the regular season Stacy as you talk to Stacey dales an NFL network with Jonathan hood on under the hood on ESPN one thousand ESPN out this summer that there we went through it felt like the NBA in a lot of ways because we talked about so many things off the field all this this craziness and all these guys are weird story lines and then we come to find out you know what the I. R. Rogers can still win you still play despite whatever disconnect that was reported out there between the new head coach and and and Rogers he can still play a little bit even under duress you still they will get the job done. well and and there's not a whole other part that you know Jonathan exists with Aaron Rodgers even when they're not you know scoring you know. you know ray of touch down there you know they run game wasn't their credit to the bears defense they shot him down big time with their young the company it's Aaron Rodgers they automatically think when your his teammates that you can win but I think the thing that what I'd gleaned spending time with the Packers and I I would say this first coach Nagy in the bears to is is the relationship that he has with his players and what looks learner is developing with his guys if you were around that low floor super laid back you for innovative ostensibly extremely collaborative so are you want to question the Rogers look for relationship with and they want to gain okay and I talked to the Monday Adams I interviewed him after the game he he said among some other choice words like it was ugly right floppy ugly if week one I know the relationship is strong between Aaron Rodgers and the new head coach and there isn't much of an age gap between the two and I I think you know when I asked the vaunted how far away is this offense he told me and it's not far away at all you know you used faith one of the top three defenses in the National Football League ms all of the a motion they went into this game I mean what I think about thirteen points combined believe these scenes this was an emotionally draining way to start the two thousand nineteen camping. and by the way are Denver's next for the bears would Vic Fangio their former defensive coordinator now the head coach I watched that game I was on the air last night Stacy with with Denver in their loss against Oakland I just thought that Denver did not look prepared or not there's a sorry productive on either side of the football the raiders really look good I don't know if the hard knocks cameras still around they should been filming that because that was watch for the raiders hall but I I that's going to be an interesting test for the bears as well taking on a difference accorded knows everything about Nagy and the bears. yeah I I agree I think probably what might excite Chicago is that Denver's defense and then again I keep playing week one it's too early to panic it's too early to get into the my new show well they're going to take this year it's one of sixteen games but you know Denver's offense. didn't score I mean they were they were held that day they you know took Emmanuel Sanders a while I watch the games you last night on my couch and just. they just weren't as good as Oakland Oakland was so much better car was so good a hundred twenty one passer rating and that may be what Denver's defense they didn't register back so I'm not making company I'm looking at this thing like holy cow we got a protector quarterback who got the text message on the road get back to that run game because. you don't either but I'm predictability you've got to be able to describe things especially when you're dealing with what I consider a defense of my like big stand years one of the best that I've been around since I've covered football and you got of course point you have to and you know you start you start thinking about if you're the bears you lost one at home and now you go on the road but you've got the Washington Redskins on the road the week following you've got to win one of those wanted to those road games in my opinion early in the year steel feel them if you will but yeah I I think it'll be a great chess match and you're you're right Jonathan I mean Vic knows mich and he knows his tendencies he's seen what works and he's also probably come to understand what bothers mystery rescue so I will tell you when I talk to the Packers in the locker room after the game. I said I asked him on Williams in it I know ESPN picked it up in a lot of people picked it up but you know what what what were the keys because they just had no rhythm at all for the entirety of the game and he said he took some heat for this he said we want to play we wanted to Mr risky to play quarterback. and he took some heat because well that is that saying this is a very good now but when he says that and when I look back at the game and I saw all the pressures again he was pressure on drop back almost forty percent of the time I thought to myself. that's the most in his career there were no holds barred this is the biggest stage to start the season and for them the key to defeating the bears off at least from a defensive standpoint is you gotta make rich five mission comfortable you gotta make some of you know keep them in the pocket but make them uncomfortable and I think Victor going to see that model from last week you know the match and again it'll be a chess match with the Honda you response. yeah it in there was nothing wrong with that comment because the ultimately he's saying well we don't want Mitch to be rolling left and right and be able to utilize his legs because that is a webcam for tripit ski we we want him to be able to beat us with his arm and his in his ability get down the field and so that's that's great that was pretty obvious of course so that there's no controversy to that that comment to me I thought it was spot on you don't want that guy running around out of the pocket to try to get first downs and they kept him in advance a lot. they kept him in a band a lot and they they shut down the run game I mean now you could argue well where they're not. one place called and you know I I'm not the head coach in the National Football League team so it's yeah we can set banter criticized matinee game company that that's not my ammo but what I will say is I I do think changes coming this week. and they're going to find different ways to establish something on the ground beside their quarterback and again I would I would encourage people don't panic mode this is a long season and if you're if you're gonna see the emergence I think of players find their groove and find their rhythm as we see with all teams in the league but it'll be it'll be a good test on the road it is hard to play in Denver I know I know we see it every week and we can talk about the altitude but listen.

"Coming up at the top the hour all you need to know about the Packers alliance the Vikings the bears coming up at the top of the hour right here on ESPN one thousand and the ESPN app we also tales from the hood an hour from now tales from the hood Leon Rogers from WG see I was going to be with us Leon is got a special show he's got going on fox actually track him down you know he's a he's an FM DJ so he gets real busy he gets the easily distracted also we'll hear from motley are coming up in an hour from now right here on ESPN one thousand good how are you today because this meeting she's weak because we are talking about the bears the Packers are you excited because I am I'm really excited about what we could see coming up on Thursday because there's been so much conjecture so much hand wringing on what to risky is what's risky is not are trying to figure out what the bears are with the bears are not one of things I know what the bears are is a team that is still trying to find their way to the legacy that Rogers has built with Green Bay in but even before that right far. so. Aaron Rodgers can walk away from the game tonight if they have had enough with his handlebar mustache and walk away into the sunset right into a blazer into camp. but Aaron Rodgers just like Brett Farr house scene was stand transition was from a winning Green Bay teens Rogers taking over and the winning ways continue for years the bears have been the nail and the Packers have been the hammer. and even with everything that the Packers have gone through is not been smooth sailing it seems like smooth sailing from this end of the rivalry right as a bears fan but the Packers have had their issues as well the Packers have won one. Super Bowl championship Andrea Rogers justanswer Brett farb did as quarterback leading that Packers team in his era. well we got a Mike said those piece from yes from the athletic formally from ESPN we talked about it in the summer about the quarterback two years and I love the quarterback tears you go through our archives of the under the hood podcast web you download the podcast with under the who what job hood this download it in that way you can be able to hear all episodes. and one of them is the tears are here is one of the episode names we have the tears are here if you find that you can click on that and go back to lose to my show from early this summer the tears are here because Mike Sando. always talks to executives and former players and they put together the twenty nineteen quarterback tears fifty five coaches and executives rank the NFL starters. as far as quarterbacks in so we talked about how tricky is a tier three quarter back just based on this list but in that tier one the number one quarterback on this list was the Rogers. Aaron Rodgers the best quarterback in the NFL not from your fantasy standpoint not from your bias standpoint but is in Rogers the best quarterback in the NFL well Mike Sando writes this piece about Iraqi says Rogers has at least tied for the top six spots in six years of the quarterback tears you have been at these in the top spot six times. and so. this anonymous GM says is always to Thompson's fall or Mike McCarthy's fault and when it goes to these two peoples fault then you makes you wonder life so pretty much this person saying you know why the Packers underachieved how come they haven't been in the mix with the Superbowl is this GM is this head coach now just like in the spotlight a travesty there's a spotlight on Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback for this Packers team because there's a new man in town and that guy is not Mike McCarthy but it is metal floor the new head coach for the Green Bay Packers and so. there's been several story lines where the Packers this summer. one of them is Aaron Rodgers talking to Chris Simms Chris Simms former quarterback now we're gore bleacher report in CVS. and there was this kind of whispering conversation that was caught on tape on film. Roger say you know I really just kind of like to audible do my own thing in metal floor doesn't like the audibly he doesn't like that very much in the second thing is is that metal floor says I like to be able to in practice scrimmage with other teams and riders like I hate scrimmages with other teams because of injury blah blah blah so there's a disconnect in that kind of a difference of philosophy on what Rogers once resort metal floor once now let's go back in here from that low floor from earlier today that low floor the coach for the Packers gives a starts about Rogers in audibly because as you well know watching their Rogers over the years Rogers will look to the sideline whatever McCarthy what type into this headphones and say no I see a witness to the bears defense let's go this way or let me run this way because I know the tendencies he would sometimes do it I don't know why on purpose we did it because he's smart he did because he was good so listen to it so what metal for sense about the audibly form Aaron Rodgers and how much of features defense well we'll see coming up on Thursday..

"And whether they get him or not they have these two veteran players will contribute to their team next year. But my point here is would they have signed John J even to a depleted outfield. They have a depleted outfield if not for their pursuit of Machado. There are a lot of outfielders out there. Why did they pick John Jj thirty-three last year? I think the reason is similar to the trade for Lonzo. They're trying to put some pieces in place to possibly help with ROY of Machado. It's going to take money money is going to rule this thing, first and foremost, but all things being equal any man he wants to play with these guys we've worked out with for so many years tell you what I wrote down on hair. That's good Intel can but yonder Lonzo John Jay, Manny Machado. I think if you look at the work ethic, all those guys high level work ethic has been able to have those guys push you. They're clueless surrounding him. If they go get him with people that are going to keep him in check as well. Also, I think if you have any character issues, you're worried about anything like that you got guys right there on the spot that can confront him about whatever it might be. And I don't think that's going to be necessary moving forward Manny. But if it is surrounded us guys, your thing Gaza throughout here likes this. And it says right here they're smelling the weakness in the Indians. I think the division is saying a weakness and to watch the moves the twins are making moves come the White Sox. Now's the time to start making the move. So when the central man not be this year, but the following years because it has been like this in the last couple of seasons. There's a there's a gap. There's an opportunity. That's there from Rosenthal and Reynolds on MLB network. Okay. A weakness in the Indians. Twenty nineteen. We'll tell a greater story that I can ever tell you about whether or not that's the case or not. I like the moves of Kelvin Herrera because he was signed here. Herrera twenty nine years of age combine the two and three Mark when a two point four four Yara seventeen thirty eight strikeouts. Forty eight relief appearances with Kansas City and Washington. It's a nice pickup for the White Sox. I like him a lot. But it's interesting, John, Jane, John Jay's picked up because that's a good locker room guy. Asking you the cubs locker room guy. And it's hero was talking about. Just having quality in there to try to check Machado Machado needs. Checking do you want them on your roster? I mean, Chicago White Sox. How about that? That's what I'm asking. If it takes more than five years to sign one of these players, whether it's a Machado is interesting. How this this whole thing's gone down here in major league baseball here in the off season. If it's gonna take more than five years to sign the either Harper Machado. I don't want them. There's not there's not a player that. That's right. That's available right now. That I think more than five years you should sign him. I think we learned a lot from the pool steel. Do we not think we learned a lot from that, especially baseball? It's not the NBA. Oh, now, I'm a scientist guy for ten year contract because he's a franchise guy. Yeah. What about the other twenty four players other Oster? What about the other twenty plus players to the roster? Seriously, one guy cannot change the entire fortunes of one baseball team still need pitching. If that pitcher is solid there. Maybe you're good starting pitcher. But what about the other guys roster? Does that matter? Just wondering. I don't know why you gotta bring other guys into trying to protect Manny Machado from himself. If that's the case, then I don't want. I know he and the other thing too. It put it to the sign. This is not about tickets because the White Sox are about walkup tickets. That's that's their business. Walkup tickets sunny day. That's what it's about whether right walkup tickets. That's what have to depend on even with Machado. If he signs there'll be a little bit of uptick, but not necessarily is going to be overwhelming where it's going to be filled every night because that's not the White Sox for the White Sox role. Okay. I gotta get to Leon collegiate stepped into the studio. I was I was going to pull the trigger on the Jim Boylan, but I will save. I'll save your thought. I'll save the dots. Are Jim later. I had it. Right. I ended ready. I was gonna go after Jim Jim Boylan. But now we gotta Leon Rogers coming up for tales from the hood ready. The chamber said again, just keep it loaded in the chamber. I had it ready. I had it ready. But now, no Felix said, no. And he's mad already 'cause I'm late. How others. Let me tell you about Illinois media school, call this number.
