"With the likes of Patrice bergeron and David pasternak. Since the start of the 2019 2020 campaign, the only players on the planet with more points in the NHL than marchand's are the Edmonton Oilers twin terrors Connor McDavid and Leon draisaitl. Now since his rookie season of 2010, 2011, only Alex Ovechkin. Alex Ovechkin has more goals and points among left wings than does marchand. So Greg, I want to understand why this guy who is a top 5 player in the league, maybe. Why that dude keeps on crossing that line. After the break.

He does a day in day out, he supported by a bunch of teammates that he loves to lead, and that work hard for him. McDavid scored twice to push his goal total to a career high 46. "Play so much on the power play and even at 5 month 5, the velocity that the best offense is the best defense is a good offense, right? So, and the oilers do struggle despite their elite power play. And their top ten in the league and 5 one 5 scoring. They struggle to move the puck out of the zone. Who's better in the league than Erik Carlson doing that. And you look and you watch, I'm not sure how much you're able to watch the game last night between those and red wings, but there were a few times where Connor McDavid and Leon draisaitl were gathering speed out of their own zone, looking for a breakout pass and were missed. They always like to park twice when they had clear cut. Clear possession of the pocket led the goals in their often suing face offs. That's an area that they can improve on. And there's no one and no one better than an air Carlson who can do that. So to me, again, not a guy that I thought of, but the more I think about it, it could work. It's just the money and the assets that they would have to move and to be able to kind of make the trade work that seemed to be the biggest kind of hold up for me. Well, let's take those things one at a time. I'm with you that I didn't initially think about it just because I think as recently as a couple months ago, it would have seemed reasonably unfathomable that Eric also would move anywhere, right? Like it was kind of the contract to use you to so prohibitive in terms of the future commitment. Regardless of what he did, it would just be a no go for anyone, especially with how fly the cap has been, and then how it tied up against it, everyone is. And I think, you know, we should start with as a testament to the type of year in the caliber of play of the level of play. He's been at from the start. That he's reached this point where it's a legitimate discussion, right? Like I think he's gonna win the Norris, I believe. And justifiably, so if you look, he's got 6 more 5 one 5 points than any other skater, not just defenseman in the league he's on a pace for like a 110 points. And so I think we can get into all the minutia of his game and what he'll bring to the table. And I think that is actually a really interesting part of this conversation, right? Because initially, at first blush, a lot of the pushback, I think, as well, boilers have enough skill on their team, like goal scoring isn't a problem for them. They need better defenders, right? I think that's kind of like the thought process that people have typically chosen or the stands they've taken, and that's why they've been linked to guys like a lot of slav gavrikov and Joel edmondson. But it's interesting they've also been linked quite a bit, I think. At various points to John clayburg and Shane goss's bear, right?

"From the leaks perspective, the pandemic can not be overlooked in that a lot of the problems I believe stemmed from contracts at resigned before the pandemic, assuming the cap was going up on the projections that they had. And then it got smashed with a steamroller. And so the cap has been flat. People say flat cap and I don't think they take the implication of what that really means. There's no growth, but the contracts are still on the cap that you already signed before the cap flattened out. that's why I think the league will be really reluctant to do anything because they'll say, look, after next year, the cap is going to go up X number of dollars, then X plus number of dollars. And they'll tell you that there will be more flexibility. Yeah. The one thing that I'd like to see, the one thing I'd like to see the one I think I don't think you need to change the system because that's a far more involved, longer negotiation. I've been a proponent to take one salary and be able to franchise cap that salary. So each June 20th or 25th, because free agency starts on July 1st, each team designates one salary for that year that comes off the books. So it might be Connor McDavid this year. It might, but then Leon draisaitl comes up for a contract and he leapfrogs him, so it might be Leon draisaitl the next year. It doesn't have to be the same salary all the time. But each June 25th, you can take that salary and put it into your franchise tag. If you do that, that gives you another 12 and a half $1 million of capital. Owner, if it's McDavid, owners can do it or not doing it. Doesn't matter. Up to them. It still keeps the salary floor in the same place. It keeps a salary upper limit in the same place. But you're allowed to take one salary and take it outside the player pool and put it in this franchise tag. To me, it opens up space. It opens up flexibility. And it doesn't decimate the system. I like it. I like it. And Carlo and I have gone back and forth on a luxury tax. He's a proponent of a luxury tax. You know, so then you enhance revenue sharing. So it balances the haves versus the have nots. For me, that gets a little bit more authenticated. And then I also ask, okay, well, what's the give back that Batman is going to request? You know, to alter the system to that point, you know what he's going to ask for. Okay. Guaranteed contracts. That's given. All right, buddy. "We need a effective proper voting campaign for the NHL second leading scorer to be in the All-Star Game. That's a problem. Like Leon Leon draisaitl should not have to be voted into the All-Star Game. We have the in the central division and great story. He made 64 saves the other night, but because of but UC sorrows is not the best goalie in the central division. Hey, you watch, you watch your time. You watch your tone on this PDO cast talking what you see sorrows that way, okay? I love UC sorrows. I love UC stars, but based off this play this season. He is not the first goal at first or second goalie choice from the central division. Now, is he the first choice from Nashville? I guess? Well, the amazing thing is that three you could argue the three of the best 5 or 6 goalies in the league though are from this central division, which is just so ridiculous, right? That's your point. That goes to your point that all of those guys should be then recognized as such. Yes. Yes. You should just get rid of divisions. Get rid of divisions. Okay, there's a couple. Yes. Well, there's a couple of factors here at play, right? One, I think the ideal version in our minds of what you'd want to see, what you and I would want to see here. Is a competitive setting where all of the best players in the league not only get to go up against each other, but get to play with each other if they're on the same teams, right? That's what we want to see is that dream scenario of combinations of guys who are on 8 year deals playing on different teams, making ten plus $1 million that will never actually probably get to play together on an NHL team, but we get to see them on the ice in a competitive setting against the other best players in the league and see who comes out on top.

"Straight. The jar is on. He is, I mean, let's face it. He has to be what is it? Always ten O one one. Ten O one one street right now for jari. So to get in the goaltending, Crosby and malkin are on a good run. Malkin is really been quite productive since the first couple of weeks of the season. Crosby's had a Crosby's 35 years old. At one time, like we're going to not take it for granted that he's going to be one of the best players in the league, but he still is. And so now the pens are in a far different spot and looks like that division is going to be a slugfest, right? It does. You know, it makes me wonder about like, can the Devils hang on like that great start? I'm just looking now. There are four points in front of Carolina and Pittsburgh. All that work, your four points ahead. Yeah. You're no more. Let's go to Edmonton. All right, we saw that was a fun game too. I didn't watch all of it. We were just cleaning up the mess after the rangers and the leafs last night. So I watched when I finally got home, but Connor McDavid was grumpy after that game. A shootout loss, I should say to the singing Lewis blues. He was called if you haven't seen it. I mean, it's made its rounds and by if you have and I'm talking about anybody listening or watching. He was called offside in overtime, which disallowed the Leon draisaitl would have been a game winning goal. The situation room determined that Connor didn't have possession of the puck. So I'm going to read his quote, and then I want you to weigh in on this right. Because I do understand star players frustration, not just in this case, McDavid. McDavid postgame says, quote, the league has got to clarify some of these rules. What's a kick? What's offside? What's goalie interference? It kind of depends on the night, I guess, says Connor McDavid. So again, he to the moment stuff, right? That game got away from them. They felt like they deserved a better outcome. I guess the one thing that I would question and full disclosure, I did not talk to the situation room last night. And I haven't reached out to date. But when I'm looking at that video, correct me if I'm wrong, but you know, if that puck is anywhere in the vicinity, like, I mean, two feet of Connor McDavid are two feet from his stick. Isn't possession kind of assumed? Or did you see that there was a lack of control and they got it wrong? To me, the play boiled down to one thing. And that's as McDavid goes over the line. You know, he doesn't have the puck on his stick, right? It's in that bubble zone as you talk about. Yeah. He makes contact, his stick makes contact with the blues defenseman stick. How could he have possession if he's got contact with the blues player stick? So key. To me, that's key. And this is the problem. This is the problem with trying to, you know, we all want the consistency. It drives us all crazy. Same thing with the goalie interference. The goalie interference is even more difficult because that becomes even more of a judgment. But the car play last year and the McDavid play this year. They're similar, but they're not the same. Right. Like I, in my view, I can see that. As soon as he makes contact with a stick, I'm like, yeah, he doesn't have possession. Yeah. Because he's stick battling with the blues player, even if it's just for a second, that you can't say, oh, but a half a second later. It doesn't matter. No, does it work? No. They fixed this offside rule. They killed an ant with a sledgehammer. No. And from when Mac duchene was 15 or 20 feet offside and they somehow missed it and we got into this quagmire of the offside rule used to be the simplest rule ever. Yeah, it used to be simple. Yeah. And then it was, you know, skate in the air, break the plane. No, I don't know. I totally get and sympathize with McDavid. Totally get it. But it's not just the star players. It's every player. It drags, I told you this, I think I told this story on the podcast. One year they had switched from tag up offside to when you couldn't tag up off site. And we shot the puck in, it was in an exhibition game, somebody shoots the puck in and the whole bench is yelling outside offside and the linesman turns around and it's like, guys, we changed that rule in the summer. And we're like, oh, we didn't know. You think, you know, but you don't. Well, one thing for sure. Whether it's Mike Murphy Colin Campbell and hockey ops or Steven wacom with officiating. You know, he to the moment, okay, they don't have access directly with Connor McDavid. I guarantee you if McDavid wanted a better explanation or wanting to go painstakingly through the rule book with all three of the issues that he raised, those men would happily take that call and explain it to McDavid. So when a voice like that speaks, the world listens. It carries in the game. Drake, I've said this before, I would love the league to take the rule book, put a committee together, start at page one and streamline the rules, so more people can understand them. Because I think they've gotten rather complicated for most players, coaches, and certainly the fans. So why not simplify it? Yeah, I may have heard from some NHL people that you were badgering during the broadcast meetings prior to the start of the year. Your peppering with a lot of questions and staring up trouble and trying to not a lot of questions. Just one really direct one. Hey, why don't you fix the rule book so everybody could understand it? To me, I don't have that. I got to be pretty quick. I'm sure. So say it takes 6 months to do it. Who cares? Say like you started it now this committee of retired officials and player like I recently retired players and coaches and you came through the rule book and you presented it and it starts for next year or the year after. Why say the game's great and we never want to improve it. Keep trying to improve it. Why not? Well, speaking of the rule book, we have seen some pretty big hits this year. You don't see them every game, right? You don't, and maybe that's why they become such a spectacle. There was one earlier this week with Ryan Reeves, man. It was just a big nasty. And then before that, you know, Jacob trouba went over Anthony at Tennessee of the Chicago Blackhawks and trueba has a bit of a history of that. But I'm not trying to paint the picture of these being dirty plays because they're not. I mean, they're deemed illegal. The Reeves hit was legal. But you had to draw the ire of many. Mostly media, some player agents, but many. So are you good with the way it stands or would you like to see a penalty where any head contact is a two minute minor? And then it elevates from there depending on, you know, the lateness of the hit, all of that stuff. Or are we just the physicality for the most part has been largely ruled out of the game right now? Does it need to be further

"Blackhawks Edmonton is now 58 16 and four when both Connor McDavid and Leon draisaitl each score in the same game. I'm Joe brand. You're listening to the Blackhawks postgame show taking you up to midnight tonight. After the hawks losing skid now unfortunately stretches out to 8 games, but this was a different type of game tonight. Blackhawks taking on a very good, very talented, very fast Edmonton team. And they get within a goal of them for the second straight night. Not only that, there were a few opportunities for Edmonton to just let this game go away and just kind of put it to bed, but the Blackhawks didn't allow that to happen and nearly tied it up with 13.6 seconds left. Let's get to the highlights of tonight's matchup at the united center after 20 minutes. We had no score, the oilers outshot the Blackhawks 14 to 6, we thought we had a goal. It looked like Zach Hyman had netted the first goal of the night. However, the Blackhawks challenged it saying that Hyman had cross checked Seth Jones into the Blackhawks goaltender of arvid soder bloom. That challenge went rather was overturned successfully, good challenge by the hawks in a remain to scoreless game Edmonton at a lot of good scoring chances they had a power play in that first period. They had 7 shots on goal in their very first power play. It is just a very talented team overall, let alone with a man advantage. So we moved into the second period and Edmonton didn't waste too much time. 54 seconds in Leon draisaitl picked up his 14th goal of the season. Darnell nurse with the primary assist, his tenth of the year in nurse also playing in his 500th career game. Later on in that second period, Ryan nugent Hopkins would take a stellar feed from yes he pull you Yahoo, pull jarvie, excuse me. Behind arvid solar bloom's net and just fed nugent Hopkins who came cruising in from the right wing and made it the two zero lead for Edmonton. So a moment right there in the oilers continued to pile on the pressure offensively. But the black clocks had an answer for that and it was thanks to a shot from Jack Johnson, although it didn't end up being his goal. Hyman will clear to the line, kept

Leon draisaitl on the power play scored the game winner with two O two remaining. We got to start winning some games consistently and do it the right way. Well, Jonathan Connor McDavid is, of course, only one player on this Edmonton Oilers team. Who else has really been contributing to this playoff run so far? What else have been the keys to their getting as far as they have? Well, that's just it. And we talked earlier about how one player can't really overcome a decrepit team around him. This is the farthest thing from a decrepit team. The oilers have some weaknesses, but they have just superb tear once at the top end. I mean, it starts with Leon draisaitl after McDavid. Ordinarily, during the regular season, dry Seidel and McDavid were on separate lines. They're playing together now. The reason for that primarily, aside from the fact that it has worked, was in the first round, Leon draisaitl was taken down by Mikey Anderson and he's been playing on what we believe to be a sprained ankle since. They had to have them at the wing because you have to skate a lot more at center than you have to skate on the wing. And he's ridden wing for Connor McDavid before, and their chemistry superb. There may not be a better player in the offensive zone than Leon draisaitl in terms of just pure passing and shooting. They've got the kind of supporting cast up front. They haven't had in ages. Guys like Evander Kane, who came in at mid season, Zach Hyman, who assigned the summer. And Ryan nugent Hopkins, who's been there forever, but really hasn't had any peers. Now they've got three of those guys, and it's made all the difference. Mike Smith, their goaltender, you know, he's 40 years old. He's a fantastic story. Coming into the playoffs, I was a little bit skeptical of Smith. He gets very hot and very cold. So I've seen him be very good and very bad, but he's been very good for most of this playoff run. He's bounced back from some really difficult place. You know, he kind of gave away game one to the kings in the first round with an atrocious giveaway. And he came back and responded with some of the best hockey he's played in Edmonton. So you really have to respect his resilience. But the other key I'd say for the oilers has been the coaching staff. They changed coaches at mid season, something that GM Ken Holland has never done. They brought up Jay woodcroft, who was a very up and coming minor league coach. They brought up his defensive coach, Dave Manson, and those two guys have worked wonders. The oilers are a different 5 on 5 team under Jay woodcroft. They're much more competitive. And Dave Manson's kind of earned a reputation as a defenseman whisperer because of the way he's developed the oilers prospects. He has found new levels from not a pedestrian defense, but one that's really not that remarkable, especially with Darnell nurse fighting through injury. He's found contributions from guys like Brett kulak, Tyson Barry, players who were regarded as somewhat one dimensional. So a lot is how to go right for the oilers to get this far. And it's a big story beyond Connor McDavid. This matchup against Colorado for the neutral hockey fan at least is absolutely mouthwatering. I mean, you have two of the league's most exciting and fastest, most skilled teams squaring off against each other. And they treated us to an old school shootout of a game in game one on Tuesday night with abs hanging on to prevail 8 to 6. Jonathan, what do you think the series will ultimately hinge on? When I look at Colorado, the player who's frightens me the most with due respect to Nathan McKinnon is kale macar because will kill macar has done this season. I don't know if he's going to win the Norris trophy, if not he'll be one or number one or number two. He's a phenomenal player and to me he's every inch the equal of McKinnon. Those two are the key point for Colorado. The differences that Edmonton has extreme skill up front. So you look at guys like Nathan McKinnon. And Gabriel lambda skug, the oilers can go toe to toe with those guys. Nazem kadri. You look at what Colorado has on defense, guys like kale mccart and Devin taves. Edmonton doesn't have anybody like that. Darnell nurse is the closest piece. And he's playing through injury. He's not a 100%. So to me, it's really going to depend on whether Colorado's defense can tip the scales of the McKinnon McDavid battle is going to be fantastic, but that McCarthy is saying that's something that Colorado has that pairing at something Colorado has that Edmonton just doesn't have an answer for that I see on paper. You mentioned McDavid and McKinnon. In those two guys you have two former number one overall picks, generational talents, arguably the top two offensive players in the league. What's also somewhat similar games as well, right? Both guys, it's just all about speed and skills simultaneously. Does this feel like a potential rivalry of the future sort of centered around those two superstars? Yes and no, because it's easy to look at McDavid McKinnon and kind of go, oh, well, this is the new Crosby Ovechkin. The problem there is when it was Crosby and Ovechkin, it was Crosby and Ovechkin with McDavid McKinnon. You have to throw auston Matthews in there too. Who's very much in that same weight class as a heavyweight offensive forward. But the cool thing about McKinnon and McDavid is like you said, they both go out with speed. Matthews is an unbelievable goal scorer. So as much as he's in the conversation and kind of makes it a three way battle instead of a two way battle, he's a different kind of player. And we'll see if Edmonton Colorado stick with a power versus power matchup where McKinnon and McDavid are playing each other all the time. I think Edmonton is going to try and get away from that as much as they can. They like to double shift McDavid. But that kind of speed, I can't think of a forward match up to that compares. As a rivalry, I think it's somewhat lacking because they're not playing each other in division play during the year, which makes it a little harder with Crosby and Ovechkin. You got more regular season matchup, so it was a little easier to.

"You've got maybe the only defense court that I feel might be able to keep up with McDavid might? Yeah. Maybe potentially. That's a huge luxury for the abs in this series. And that's the other thing that they can't hesitate on. You can't worry about Manson or those guys have to play an outrageous minutes burden in this series. They have to be on whenever McDavid is. Yeah. Well, I think they will. I think they will do. I think that. Worrying about it. I do want to talk about Leon draisaitl here, obviously, because he's going to be a bit of a footnote just because of what McDavid's doing. Yeah, it's very tough. Stylistically, like McDavid is just such a supernova that regardless of anything else. He has the numbers to back it up, but just like watching them, that's where you gravitate towards, right? But just I don't have 15 assists in these 5 games, 17 points. On one leg, he's up to 26 points tied with McDavid now. I think what's so fascinating to me about him is, yes, on one leg. He's clearly basically functioning on one wheel right now because that ankle injury. And so at the start of his postseason you were alluding to this, the first 5 games he was struggling a lot where they were like just trying to have him center his own line and do usually the Andre sad stuff. And he clearly physically couldn't handle it. And game 6 they adjusted by being like, all right, we're going to lean on our depth a bit more here. We're just going to try to make life easier for suicidal, playing with McDavid, less of the heavy lifting for him, but maybe maximizes offensive potential, right? And since then, the numbers have taken off. They're up 16 to 5 in like a 104 minutes or something. They're 6 and one in terms of their win loss rate. Yes. So it's worked out. For me, I'm no doctor by any means. I do have a bachelor of science in caseology, so a little bit of other human body, but obviously this is just very elementary stuff. But I would say you see that it's hampering them the most. Like when he's trying to shoot, especially that patented one timer of his right circle. And it makes sense. When you watch him when he's at his best, there's so much lower body torque where he's like trying to move his body quickly to and especially him because he has the most deceptive release point I've ever seen, probably. Honestly, I mean, his particular skill is that you don't understand when the shot's coming. You know what I mean? I see no way if you're a goaltender to predict when or how or at what angle dry cycle is going to shoot from because it feels like he can, you know how there was never a bad pass to Randy Moss, right? There's never a bad pass to Leon draisaitl for a one timer, like he can hit it off his heel, he can hit it all in so many his wheelhouses just gigantic. It is. And he can do that. It's stride, you can do that with his wrist shot. I mean, but yeah, you're right. I don't think we have a dry sad with the full battery of tricks at the moment. And it doesn't matter he's finding other ways to be. Well, here's why. So effective. I brought that up against the flames. He attempted 9 5 one 5 shots for the entire series. He's taken 25 for the playoffs if I one 5, which is tied to the Kyler Yamamoto on the team for 11th most..

"You lose them. Hey, I lost them. They send you a new pair, man. That's an unreal deal. Yeah, you know? Fucking right. Confused. No, I'm still thinking about the situation. I hope I didn't come off too hard, too, 'cause I'm trying to see all the sides. And even for yo, you think you always the head coach there next year? Don't forget guys, they had a 37 year old right-wing playing in that line up that night too, that has like four points. So they're not too worried about the future. So why don't you put yandle as a 13 forward? Or the 12th, you know, or 12 forward or 7th D he doesn't need to play the power play, but you can't say it's all about the future and you have this 37 year old with four points. And I also heard it was the coach's decision, which I'm not in those conversations. I'm not in that room, right? So then I was like, what? That's bizarre. If it was the coach's decision and he was the one who was putting him in the lineup to break the record, why wouldn't he just keep him in? And I don't want to keep talking about this, but wait, do you think I was too critical and taken seeing both sides of it? No, no, there are two sides to it. Like I said on every single story and event in this league, there's always two sides. It's just, I'm kind of on the side of like, you have nothing going on there this year. There's zero reason to end that streak. There really is. And even if you want to end it at a thousand and give somebody the three final games. To me, I completely disagreed. But having seen Mike ruppell played a lot more games than me and Hal Gil played a lot more games than me, completely disagree. You know, there are definitely players who don't kind of sit with me, but I also know what was said inside that locker room. Hey, wasn't the D who stepped into minus four? But I hammered the hammer the leafs though that night. You just knew that flyers were going to get bad karma. You knew it said the locker room wasn't going to feel good about that game and the leafs went out and what they scored 6 or 7 goals. I mean, they've also lost the leafs. They're awesome. The leafs have me and Philly's two thirds of their game right now. Not gonna lie. I boys has been tons of score in the season, tons of points. That means a lot more milestones and Connor McDavid, Wednesday night in the four three shootout win over LA, he reached 100 points for the 5th time in his career. He's up to a 105 points in 69 games and he's got 12 more games to pass his career high of 108. He's probably going to blow that out of the water. He's the 19th player with 5 100 point seasons. He's only in the 7th season for comparison. Sid has 6 in 17 seasons, so not to make a McDavid versus Sid, but just to put it in perspective, only two guys in league history with a ten plus 100 point seasons of Mario and Wayne saw again McDavid just on this unreal trajectory. And just last night his teammate Leon draisaitl became the second player this year to hit 50 goals and he made it 6 to one versus Anaheim, just the second time he's hit 50. He needs one more for new career high and he's the third active player with multiple 50 goal seasons after ovi and stem. McDavid just keeps getting it done, Leon right alongside him. Well, and McDavid, he would have hit it in all 7 seasons if it wasn't for the shutdown because of COVID and then the injury as well. I think he was, I think it was a year where he ran into the goalpost, wasn't it? Yeah. That good point. So he would be 7 for 7. Guys, it's remarkable. And it's almost like we're the term I'm looking for. We're so used to it. I mean, we don't even really have them in the heart conversation this year, but he's going to end up running away with the scoring title again. Yeah, we're taking them for granted at this point, but it's very special. They got two special guys that are fun to watch. And I mean, as far as dry style is concerned, I mean, the guy kills penalties as well. So he's just an absolute fucking horse. And you talk about being scared of the Toronto Maple Leafs. I'm starting to get a little bit scared of the oilers. And people are like, oh, what are you scared about? They don't have any goaltending. I feel like they are starting to get that mojo. And their record under the new coach is incredible. They're just finding ways to win. They look like they're having a good time. I can tell you a lot right now, sorry, but no, no, go ahead. I've loved following your guys Calgary Edmonton bed all year long. I've wrote a couple blogs about it. I've made some boost because of it. And I've been on business side the whole time. Like the oilers, there's brutal, but I just was happening to look at the standings today. Edmonton would play the LA kings and Calgary might have to end up playing Las Vegas. Vegas. That is not a good matchup. If Edmund can even get home ice first the LA kings, they're moving on and then Calgary has got to deal with Vegas who nobody wants to deal with. I agree with you on paper that scares me. I have actually, since they've been on this run, watch more LA kings games, that even though they got some guys you've never heard of in the lineup, they are fast, they play extremely well defensively. They get timely saves, and they're a bugger to play against. They ended up beating Calgary in Calgary the other night in that shootout. And then where do they end up playing the night before that? And then they win a peg. They got 5 of 6 points Edmonton Calgary Winnipeg. And then they ended up coming back on Edmonton scoring those two quick goals. But but if I could a 100%. Edmonton looks knock on wood three times at your right hand. If Edmonton gets in. There could be no other matchup you'd rather want than LA. Give me that. Not for sure. That's what I'm saying. And the worst matchup would be vague. Like you don't want to see Vegas if they get all healthy. I sent out a tweet after that oilers win the other night. I sent her to tweet. I said, I'm starting to get a little bit nervous. I'm starting to get nervous, just like you were nervous the entire season about your left ear getting pierced. I'm starting to get nervous about having the Peterman's biz on national television. Somebody reach out to me too. Maybe a jewel well, I know we got Larry flowers as a jeweler, but I don't know how much money I could spend in terms of I want the cross if I do lose the hanging cross to be like two pink Whitney bottles that I'd be kind of sick. You know where I put a little advertising on the cross that I'll have for pink diamonds call. Is there a name for them? They're asking the wrong guy. I told you my my schedule for the conference finals. Actually tough with travel and and my Responsibilities but i was thinking than conference files wise. I actually think you guys have a chance to win that series. So do i even come to for the conference finals or do i have to save up for the finals ticket. Like because that's gonna be pricey walking it's gonna be priced. Sounds like the greatest problems and then the other crazy thought. That went through. My have. Which i don't i could. Maybe but i don't think so because of my tough work schedule. I think i have to wait till the finals to potentially go to a phoenix game. And so now. In my head i'm like is phoenix. Sixers like the most optimal thing for me to see. Chris paul and kill two birds with wants the cool by make tick pick just hook it up now cancelled. We got a little Little yeah fun exercise here. So you'll saying because he missed mother's day and we are his mother's abe said you know get us back for father's day and he sent some gifts so i got an edmonton oilers franchise correct. And so i guess i had. I thought he was like joking. Because this pliers obviously amazing and like he throws him and what the puck but now after seeing aims the camera would you have an opening in the goaltender on the winnipeg jets right. Yeah you don't have to say his name yet but now a point out that maybe ego sins hold joke outside of it being from tim. Horton's which sick i feel like that's like the coolest part is that it's tough to pronounce her last name. What was the thought behind these gifts. Also so i mean just to start off. I would like to congratulate both of you on being the owners of one one hundred twelve special edition tim hortons collectibles over like there's twelve players we've got. We got an off twelve. Yeah like there was only of this one ever made no like there is fires. Yeah they get sick. World sixes here tens. no like. That's like that's the whole thing you want to try and collect twelve school cool. Put it on the blockchain. I'm a little more interested but people are selling the whole flushing for like a hundred bucks. Stop you there for a second. Yeah the two thousand and twenty one and be as most available player niccolo. Yokich just got a did in game. Really apparently took a cheap shot at cameron payne at of frustration I'm seeing people say deport yokich stock down. Seeing people say was flagrant to go. Mvp the most valuable player. Just got it as team's gonna get swept tonight. That's all he went thirty to ten. That's that's school steak. That's he's so good all right. So what do we have here so we have. That was the thought. So they're only six players by ram. So you selected these two. Yes so obviously Well i had to keep that one for myself. It was the only one who is a There was there was caps. But then i thought you know what i'll keep it canadian and i thought i should pick probably the two hardest last names to brown three. So abe i got number thirty. Seven on the winnipeg jets opened up a little locker room. I guess did this because of nhl player comparisons connor. Kim hunter help. Conor hell book. Managers can't be held. The you're closer the first time conner hilo bouc. I feel like that's been less of acadian accent on that one book. You're getting close connor. Hello book asking twice. I feel really how. It's spelt though. I just got evil said was i got four. You're getting closers. But i got one syllable time out of them isn't exactly how spelt halibut halibut. It's yes h. e. l. l. y. b. Seek a feel over. I've only shot bell on h. e. l. l. e. u. y. k. I circa why is there a you there you know now. Why is there why they're seeing k. Make the same noise. You only need one of those. I mean my literally. My name is jack so so you get it so i really only needed one of those all right so my toy so you got lyles. Going say was yeah. It is my nhl player comp. He's american he's an american goalie. Six four a lefty in two hundred seven pounds. That's about my exact measurements. So i even knew. This guy's first name which i think is impressive. Mr leeann Shutout leon rodman orange and blue one with guys named leeann. That's great He's from cologne germany. And it's leon draisaitl that they're youngbleaux only know this because the pronunciation no because he won most valuable player. Whatever you weird. It was called the award. What is it the hart trophy hart trophy last year. And when they announced it he was an oiler which is which mc fraud is an oiler. As well. And i was like. I've literally never heard this player in my life. How did he win. Mvp on mic team. And so i learned about remember talking about him. I think we talked about it last year. Stick comes out. That'd be cool. Cool so i can like oh thirty. Eight tough goalie stick which is pretty cool. That is cooler and it's an of twelve. What else can we even put a little curve. And that's really cool. 'cause what else can we get gifts for. I kind of like getting stuff i mean. My birthday's coming up in a month. In even i will be together if you want to kill two birds. One stone wilson. My half birthday end august. We could sneak across the border. For jack's birthday eagleson by the way sorry. I said that we're going to take you to the cup but you guys didn't win around plows and when you guys were talking about the the sixers having an easy path like the finals are pretty much there for them is. It was the exact same thing for the team that i use that. Did i say anything about taking the final game. No right. i'm good on that okay. But you're paying twelve and a half for connor mcdavid and you're paying eight and a half for leon draisaitl worth every penny of. That's twenty one million bucks into guys right. Where are you getting a goalie. The one that he's talking about. Yeah where are you getting him. You like i think fans sometimes live in a fantasy world like you can only put eighty one million dollars into an eighty one million dollars cap. I have this free. You can't put five pounds..

"They took a team that was. I believe eleven in two in their previous thirteen games and they just dismantled them. They i mean they leon draisaitl and connor mcdavid. Don't have a point They didn't even really as a team. Stressed toronto goalie. The toronto police three goals in this series and all of them look like all stars. By the time. It's finished where i was. I was surprise. They took them apart like that. But i i think this you know it tells us that edmonton ran over a bunch of teams. That are as good is toronto either but it also tells me that when you're playing teams multiple times you gotta be careful how you evaluate either of those teams right. Because that's a week in time. And that i mean if you play montreal early in the season they stampeded overtop and now montreal cat score among other issues right now. But you're like same team two different times in the schedule. Toronto was done this though at eighteen. Four and one. They've done this the whole year. I can remember one really bad game. And it was twenty two minutes of a right game against ottawa. We're up five one then. They took a nap in lhasa game. But other than that. They've been outstanding. I it'd be caught on twitter. We're recording a podcast episode. Twelve here on thursday. Rob toots goski. I get rob teach goski and edmonson is beat reporter there. i like. His work is a funny funny guy. I i find him quite funny on social media as well leon draisaitl didn't find him quite s humorous postgame. Did you see the game will. Yep now now. I saw the tail end of it. I didn't hear the first question until this morning right were dry side. Gave a pretty tight answer to rob service question so this is one thing. It's so interesting. I can easily see both sides of this because i've sat on both chairs unions to be that by an i speak from experience when i say that i was in a couple of scrums with you and i never you intimidated me and scrums. Let's be fair. I don't know if i ever visit my height healy's dare like you're just like when sherzer anyway so i just a couple of exchanges that that i recall with you scrums. So i get that china cutting sarcasm wit so you appreciate is. I cut you off. You appreciate where leon rice was coming from with. His aren't gas. Yes so but this is what. I what i know is so the reporters all identify themselves on zoom call. Of course it's different when you're standing in the scrum you can actually see the guy but you're in tentacles up with certain people right away and so you know the the things we find funny about rob in the way that rob i attacks them quite frequently man i think he's sharpened funding idea. I text him and say man that one made me laugh and that probably doesn't go over as well with the players and so when the first question is asked and i don't really remember how it was framed that basically nobody scored in three games kind of thing. I i would assume draisaitl panic goes up a little bit sir.

"I believe that they will be at the bottom of the division like had them. But i think i think it's contingent on cujo and yeah. No i've said too earlier. It was. I felt bad putting them that low because i feel like they aren't all the notes that you made all the notes that i made are. They could go either way. I just for some reason. See a tip and bad. But i don't know who knows maybe the flame hope it does. But yeah the the connects two point. Oh fuck the calgary flames cool so I guess now we can move on to number two right or do you want to say anything else about No i'm so curious why you have the oilers and number two really. I'm so curious. 'cause i i do not see at all really i. I don't know dude. I i guess maybe coming at you by the way but like you're saying hold up. I'm trying to bring up their lines. I have my notes here. But i want to take a look at them to talking. You would think i'd be better prepared. I have notes. I don't know. I think mcdavid and dry seidel the to top two like ceremony of the league. Definitely some of the best skaters you'll have. Then you also have kyle tourists down on the third line. They're senators of cultures plays good. It's going to be great then. You have tyler. Ns and james neal nut third line with him. I feel got third lines going to turn it up. Good going back to the top. Six yamamato dreidel. They play great together from all that i hear and read. They play really well together. Cocoon i mean. Maybe you could get upgrade their. But i mean he's playing with leon draisaitl is gonna play. Great oh i did forget about him but i still think there i. I don't know. And then you got ryan nugent hopkins and pulls rv bulletin. Arby's pretty young. Obviously but i think that playing again playing alongside a guy like mcdavid. He's gonna show him the ropes pretty fast and hopefully he could buy it on quick but he has played with him before and hasn't produced. You know it's like i just hasn't it together. Nhl level yet. you know. i mean. He's so unproven. Satyam yamamoto is doing fine. Yeah boy as a matter of can they consistent you know consistent which i think is a problem for them. Obviously we saw that in the playoffs. It was a problem and it very well could be again. But i mean this is a team. Last season had eighty three points. I i i don't remember but like eighty three points in seventy one games is great and they're probably going to do that again. I know that they have a bit problems with their defense and being slow. That was a lot of issues that they had in the playoffs. And their goaltending their goals any is not up to snuff. Yes yes. I'll guess thing that coskun in he is young he is flaky but he catches his stride. He plays hot. They're going to be great. And you also have. Mike smith granted. He's older he's not obviously an amazing bottom guy or backup but i think he's gonna be serviceable at least at the very least and he'll be able to play some games and again their defensible. Slow but i think a bring a gay guy like tyson bury on top. Four is gonna make their defense all the better. I feel like they're going to have much more room to to skate..
