"To ensure people have access to vote we do make sure that dates and counties are equipped to actually provide voting machines that they have election security in place both cyber security and physical security that they provide enough information and during this call the nineteen period we need universal mail in ballots we should ask people to choose between their health and getting to exercise their right to vote the mass that has been created over there because there weren't even voting machines in some of the precinct locations where people showed up to vote at seven in the morning which is unbelievable I also find it funny how the machines that send out the notice to collect your taxes never seem to go missing or get broken down but just about every time these voting machines somewhere go missing or get broken down it's ridiculous you recently started your own pack the people first future in order to support down ballot progressive candidates what's your thinking behind this type of local support as much as we talk about the national level and there's a lot that can be done on policing at the national level a lot of the action happens at the local level it's at the local level the police union contracts are negotiated use of force discipline transparency accountability so much of that happens administratively within police departments policy is made by city councils and that union contract is negotiated by city councils and signed on to so we can get council members mayors and also district attorneys that are willing to hold police officers accountable when they engage in excessive force which usually they haven't been willing to do we can make a big difference in this problem that's former presidential candidate who Leon Castro William thank you so much.

Iowa, Why Are You First?

"Start with Iowa caucuses so the New York Times Times is reporting that more than one hundred precincts reporting results that were internally inconsistent that were missing data or that were not possible muscle under the complex rules of the Iowa caucuses more on complex in a little bit. Before example vote tallies weren't adding up precincts allotted the wrong number of delegates to candidates and in some other instances the Iowa Democratic parties reported results are not in alignment or don't don't sync up with reported precinct results. While this does not mean that the election was rigged sound like Bernie Sanders moment or that. There was any need deliberate effort at all to compromise the caucus results it is nonetheless troubling and it merely begs the question. Why the Hell Iowa anyway? My first question is for the Iowa Democratic Party. Why in the hell would you roll out a new APP that nobody is practiced on pretty much? It's none of your precinct. Captains download it for the first contest in the Democratic primary that is not surprisingly susceptible to hacking it's acceptable to hack into. There's no proof of that. There's no evidence that it was hacked given our experiences in both the twenty sixteen and the two thousand eighteen election's in this country entry. You can't help to pay attention to your spidey senses tangle in just a little bit number two Iowa Democratic Party after you saw. The APP was not working on Monday. Why don't you just do an immediate hand? Count as my friend Michael. Harriet said on twitter. If you just would a solicited any local Deacon Board they would've had counted down to the penny me in minutes third. Why did you stop answering the phone? People were on hold for hours trying to just report in the results. The last question I have and I I think frankly is the most pressing question I hear you I. That's what we really want to know. You're more than ninety percent white at least almost ninety percent light. You don't represent the base. You don't represent the party in you. Don't have enough people living in the state anyway. I so because you see questions one and three three Donovan matter. If you aren't I so let's go back to win former presidential candidate. Who Leon Castro? I raised this very important questions wasted. We can't say two black women. Oh thank you thank you. You're the ones that are powering. Our victories in places like Alabama and in two thousand eighteen and and then turn around and start our nominating contests in the two states. That have barely any black people. In 'em I mean that doesn't make sense. We can't as a democratic party Freddie continually and justifiably complained about Republicans who suppressed the votes of people of Color and then turn around and start our nominating contests in in two states that even though they take the role seriously hardly have any people of color. That's just the truth and it is just the truth and I think that it's time for the party to reckon with the truth. You cannot continue to to go into black churches into black community organizations and to black organizing entities into labor unions. And say that you devalues our votes one person vote but you don't see any people of color until you get to South Carolina that ordering doesn't make sense in it's time for folks to really really have to wrestle with this end Democratic Party leadership. Here's the thing. The caucus process itself is not even real democracy. It's not one person one vote. They're either I know I serve a god of second chances. So maybe I'll just design your primary that way but it's confusing and it sets the stage all wrong while the party is in in the middle of finding itself it's new identity determining who its base really is even though a lot of us already know who the base really is. It's imperative for us to ask why why and to answer it because it's always been that way is not a good enough answer and it never has been but it's the answer that stuff this why is a you must answer because of the ordering because of the amount of money it takes to run a campaign. We lost the majority of the candidates of color in this race. If you count of Patrick it's it's half we don't have Kamala Harris. We don't have cory booker. We don't have Hulu on Castro anymore. We lost three people who were speaking directly to issues of concern to the voters of color on the debate stage. So the big tent right now. It looks like a big rich white tint especially when you look at who qualifies for the debate eight stage that said Kudos to mayor P. and to Bernie Sanders for ending the caucus debacle in a dead heat at Twenty six point two and twenty six point point one respectively at least as of the latest count. Not by the Deacon Board and Mayor Pete as we know declared victory on Monday night there were some people who were bothered that he did that but it was his game to play. He clearly knew despite a winner still not being declared. It was a historic night for mayor. Pete Mayor Pete. It became the first openly gay candidate in American history to earn presidential primary delegates towards a major. Party's nominating process on Monday night. He called his has been chased in the future. First Gentleman of the United States the two later hugged onstage and on Tuesday mayor Pete said validates for a kid somewhere in a community wondering wondering if he belongs or she belongs or they belong in their own family. That if you believe in yourself in your country there's a lot backing up that

How Women of Color Are Shaping Our Democracy

"So I always like to start with everyone introduce do some cells but of course I also had to ask everyone a question along with that. So can you tell everyone your name where you work which you do and what has has been one of your favorite moments from this election cycle so far. I know there's so many to choose from because even though it's only January sorry this thing has been long. But what's one of the things that has been in the forefront of your mind. Hi everyone thanks so much for having me on the show My name is unleashes saying I am the Director of Judiciary Democracy Affairs at planned. Parenthood Action Fund. My main role is to make sure that we are linking and connecting the dots on why reproductive healthcare is so important and why the courts and democracy reform or so crucial for protecting our rights when it comes to reproductive health. Care one of the things I mean. There's so many things that have been I feel like monumental in this cycle but one of them is the fact that there are and have been so many women who were running for presidency and what that really means for communities of color what that means for communities across the board what that means for young people who are looking and seeing people represented on the screen when watching these debates when watching the campaign trail and seeing that reflection and then what that has meant for the conversation as well right. We've seen all the Democratic candidates. Come out in favour and support of reproductive rights in repealing the Hyde amendment all of which I truly truly believe we can pay tribute to the fact that there are so many diverse voices that are pushing each other to be bolder and vocally boulder in their policies. Hey you too often. I'm Richard from Los Angeles. California live here in the area. I'm the national director for the college. Division at the National Association for the events and of color people for now referred to as P and I have to so one of the last night when Elizabeth Warren said or she made the awareness known that all the women have not lost an election but all over to elections. I thought that was pretty. Shed asked I was like I think she's had a lot of iconic moments. Yeah I love the very visible presence and leadership of black woman the campaigns I love the chief of staff from Leon Castro's Camp I love watching Black Women for Warren and love watching black woman for Bernie. I mean this this notion that like there needs to be a special emphasis that is very public and other public for black women. So it doesn't matter you've ever moments in this campaign so far yes I do not like how many debates we're having and how late they are and how they they they are late imile. I'm emily career and I am the one of the national national campaigns directors at the League of Conservation Voters Lcd. We elect environmental champions At all levels of government and hold them accountable in two thousand. Eighteen were One of the top outside spenders in electoral politics spinning over eighty million dollars to help get environmental champions elected on the ballot I actually actually have to favorite moments I would say. The first is the fact that there is an Asian American presidential candidate. That's on the stage. Yes he's a man. It's it's the Asian American that's huge for is for the community. I would say the second. One is similar in terms of a diversity of of staff on these campaigns and the height. How hyped highlighted They are. It's very tough to be a minority as a political and to have that standard and to have that bar and feel like Minorities have an opportunity to work in this business. is huge It's really changing. The face of how campaigns are being put together and who's clean the lovers our next question talking talking about women of Color voters. We know that will be crucial to this election cycle. You can't win without us. That's just how it is and we are one at every four voters in Florida Texas Arizona and Georgia. How have you already seen women of color shape? This election cycle particularly the work that you do. I think this is like like such a crucial moment. And we've really seen this wave of engagement and energy and progress being made when you look at the Reproductive Justice Movement and special shout Out to groups like all above all and others that have really paved the way for reproductive health care and reproductive freedom reproductive justice issues and legislative policies. I mean they are responsible for the fact that we're seeing all these Democratic candidates saying that. They're they want to repeal the Hyde amendment though the push of the conversation and the narrative of in that direction has been particularly helpful with because of the leadership coming from reproductive justice organizations. And I would say I'm just to piggyback on that much planned. Parenthood you know we have seen affiliates as well and we were huge in the Virginia Sweep in November and Virginia affiliate Elliot endorsed sixty two candidates. That were pro-climate. Three of them were women. More than a dozen were women of color so you have folks like delegate Hashmi who who and also folks like Jinro Tucson who won their races Who ran on climate? Who ran on on on environmental issues? Who wants and to really advanced certain issues like climate change in everyday you know I guess highlight it at a level that necessarily may not be through the Lens of of a minority female now and especially in communities where they are Less not less equal. But we're the disadvantaged and have someone that can speak up in the fight everyday. I been away what I'm thinking about what you want said. There's been a wave of. I work with young people. Anybody twenty-five twenty-five younger that's my audience with young black people across the nation. We have over three hundred and thirty nine chapters across the country. I gained thirty two chapters last year alone. We work at twenty three thousand young people across the country and when we see Abrahams running last year and we went to polling places at Spelman and Morehouse in Atlanta in in Georgia Really got there are students got there and stood in line and realize that there were no outlets are there were no plugs of there. Were No Wires for the voting machines and it was young black women at those schools at Spelman who said to the end of the Lacey. Pe- we need to file a lawsuit because this is not how democracy should be working.

News Brief: Presidential Debate, EPA Changes Clean Water Rules

"Now we know what it looks and sounds like when all the Democratic presidential contenders share the same stage that's right the ten leading leading candidates met in Houston Texas Joe Biden who's been leading in the polls stood near the centre. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders stood to either side. Now it'd be hard to say that anybody decisively one debate so many months before actual voting but this event did seem to highlight genuine differences among Democrats including those three the at center stage. What were the differences well? NPR POLITICAL REPORTER ASTHMA Hollywood is in Houston Good Morning Aspe- and our senior political editor and correspondent Dominica Montinaro was watching Ching to Dominica Good morning to you and let's start with you Dominica. What did you see is? Those candidates spoke well. I mean you know the big thing here is that this was the strongest debate eight at least to start for Joe. Biden was crisper than he's been. He seemed ready to go on the attack but he also got some help early on and that's a big part of why is able to do better from amy cloche are the senator from Minnesota. She really decided to Kinda hug the moderate lane and seemed to put a floor under Biden in didn't wind up turning turning into a pylon like it has an other debates pylon Joe Biden and instead there was this division in the Democratic Party was several candidates on either side and asthma something in close to I I think close to half an hour of disagreements on a single big issue healthcare that's right and we've seen other healthcare debates in the first chew debates but what I think is unique about this. One is at the focus of the healthcare conversation for much of this campaign cycle has been concentrated on the progressive left specifically around around Bernie Sanders Medicare for all plan last night. Biden was much more aggressive in defending his ideas around healthcare and I want you to take a listen to specific bite of what he had to say. I think I know that the senator says she's for Bernie Yeah. I'm for Barack. I think the obamacare worked. I think the way we added to it replace everything that's been cut at a public option guarantee that everyone will be able to have affordable assurance. I guess we should clarify. Senator says she's for Bernie. He's he's referring to Elizabeth. Elizabeth Warren yes exactly and you know the Biden. Campaign sees this argument as a clear strength for him in war and world and people sort of laugh at the idea that health insurance people like their health insurance company. They'll say people like their doctor. They like their nurse and Massachusetts. Senator doesn't really want to take the bait in specifically wind Biden is pushing around this idea of taxes and costs which is something we saw last night. They feel like that's an intellectually dishonest honest argument about whether or not taxes on the middle class will go up the thing that really you ought to look at total cost but I would say look a lot of voters aren't going to get that distinction between between costs and and taxes kind of lost in the details what they're essentially acknowledging your taxes would go up aren't they but they're saying your other cost your other healthcare costs would go down in many cases so we've got Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren favouring Medicare for all but as Dominica mentioned Joe Biden was not the only person saying wait but let's do something a little more a little more moderate here and Dominica just mentioned actually specifically Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar who defended many times this idea of healthcare Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has made a point of saying he wrote the Damn Bill around Medicare for all so he knows that people are mischaracterizing it well. Here's what Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar had to say about that while Bernie wrote the bill I read the bill and on page eight age eight of the bill. It says that we will no longer have private insurance as we know it. I don't think that's a bold idea. I think it's it's a bad idea and this idea of eliminating choice is something we also heard from south. Bend Indiana me or Buddha judge who tied his idea his plan called a medicare for all who want it and basically he says that you should trust the American voters to do what they want to have the sense to choose what they opt for okay so quite substantive debate bait there. Maybe not a lot that was new but people could sit there and look at the differences between the candidates. Now we mentioned that there were ten Democrats on stage but sometimes it seemed seemed almost like there were eleven. Let's listen I WANNA give credit I to Barack Obama for really bringing us this far. We we all know huge debt to President Obama who fundamentally transformed healthcare in America and of course we owe a debt of gratitude to President Barack Obama Dominica at sounds like President Obama had a pretty good bay. It's quite a difference from what we've heard in past debates when they've been pretty critical of Obama's tenure as not progressive aggressive enough of those newly warm feelings tell me they recognize Biden still in the lead and just how important older black voters who've been really supporting Biden are to who wins this nomination. I mean President Obama is still very popular within the Democratic Party and a lot of voters who we've talked to on the campaign trail sorta chafed at this idea that there were sort of dismissing him especially with President trump in the White House. They're saying well. How far do they want to go? we kind of liked to what President Obama had to do. I guess we should be explicit about this of course Joe Biden. Having Been Barack Obama's vice president naturally associated with Obama's record Glenn he's wrapped himself in President Obama and everyone else has sort of seeded the lane which was kind of jaw dropping to be totally honest. There was also a difference last night on gun laws Beto total rourke Democrat of Texas noted early on that his city. I'll pass oh just suffered a mass shooting just weeks ago and he was pretty definite about assault style rifles hell yes. We're GONNA take your fifteen. Ak47 what does he want to do. And how does that. Compare to the other candidates on stage so he's proposing a mandatory gun buyback program Stephen you heard that line was so enthusiastically received in the debate hall all but that that just shows you. It's really popular maybe with the activist base of the Democratic Party. Most of the candidates do agree on some sort of version of voluntary gun buyback back program but our work is going further with this mandatory idea. I think what's really interesting. Is that when you look at the broader electorate mandatory Tori gun buybacks are really controversial recent. NPR PBS Newshour Mayor's poll found that forty six percent of Americans are against Congress passing such legislation Asian forty five percent are in favour and really the divide splits along partisan lines Dominica one of the question for you. We've talked about the five or six leading candidates. It's did anybody a little bit further down in the polls standout. All you know you look at over work. I mean he certainly was in full remote reboot mode of his candidacy and all these other candidates are starting to feel the heat and they were really trying some hail Marys yet Andrew Yang with this competition to give out a thousand dollars to to ten different people. Amy Klobuchar went for broke in the moderate Lane it who Leon Castro forcefully going after Joe Biden at several turns so you had a lot out of these candidates realizing that votes are going to be cast shortly and had to take some risks last night the Medico s Mahala. Thanks so much you're welcome. That's that's. NPR's here's dominicos Montinaro and NPR's Esfahan. The trump administration is changing what qualifies is as the waters of the United States the head of the Environmental Protection Agency signed off on the repeal of an Obama era era regulation for many years federal law has aimed to limit pollution in lakes and rivers the administration of President Obama extended that rule in ways that would regulate pollution on wetlands and smaller waterways they were to be regulated in part because they flow into the bigger waterways. EPA Administrator a straighter Andrew Wheeler argued that rolling back that rule would reassure farmers and home builders and landowners NPR's brought is covering this story for us and he's on the line naked morning hey steve what regulation exactly so what scrapping regulation that was finalized in the waning days of the Obama Administration called the waters of the the US rule or for short okay because you know as well as I do Steve Every federal policies only as strong as its acronym. That's not on August acronym. I got but anyway go basically with the waters United States did was tried to define which rivers streams wetlands and lakes should deserve protection under the Clean Water Act the clean water act itself largely limits pollution in big navigable waterways. That's the term in the actual statute but court decisions including a ruling from the Supreme Court left the door or open for protections to expand off of those bigger waterways so like you said not just the river but the stream that feeds into it or the wetland next to it and Obama wanted to basically officially officially extend federal water protections to that larger connected water system with this regulation. I guess we should just underline the basic problem. Here is gravity. You want to protect the rivers. The Big rivers offers you WANNA protect the big lakes but essentially all land I mean everything flows downhill into something and so how do you how far you extend that protection inland. Why did the trump trump administration consider Obama's approach to be a power grab? Well you know this change was not terribly popular with a number of groups farmers developers minors they saw all this is they did many Obama environmental regulations as a federal land grab in an overreach of what the Clean Water Act was actually intended to do and look the rules certainly expanded federal water protections to new waterways but was I think was as is the case with a lot of these policies one way or the other There's a lot of rhetoric where the on the ground impact is a a little harder to discern part of that be in this rule is because it was immediately challenged in court by some of the groups that we just mentioned and the trump administration was clear from let's start that this rule was one of its top environmental targets so in some ways it was kind of a dead rule walking. Oh so we never really found out how much landowners and other other people might have been affected had this rule been fully implemented. No it was only implemented in two thousand fifteen and and and was challenged by a number of states so do we have any sense now of how landowners and other people will be affected now that the rule is conclusively debt again say you know those groups are groups are thrilled ruled by this decision. EPA Chief Andrew Wheeler announced repeal to applause at the National Association of Manufacturers Headquarters yesterday but this rule like many many of the trump administration's regulatory rollbacks is going to be challenged in court so at the end of the day the impact is probably going to be discerned by court decision very very briefly as my drinking water is supposed to be affected by this again hard to say you know in the media the federal water protections are GonNa Revert back to where they were in nineteen

"Armed officers running through the shopping mall as they try to get this scene under control in el Paso were multiple people have been shot and killed the Walmart has issued a statement expressing it shock the governor of Texas has issued his thoughts and prayers but does this scant information comes from the mayor and the police which believe there are maybe one shooter but up multiple suspects arrested and multiple fatalities multiple people shot and killed there in el Paso Brad Garrett formally the FBI and now a an ABC news contributor is is on with us Brad I I mean a rather of let's go to Steve Gomez formerly of the FBI in an ABC news contributor in its own right Steve as the authorities try to get a handle on this they're they're going to have to go through the entire mall I would imagine in order to be convinced that the scene is safe exactly there's there's so much despair information that we've been receiving which means that that thing kind of information is being received by law enforcement so out of an abundance of caution they are going to be sure that they have a good perimeter set up around the mall around Walmart and whatever other nearby area and then they're gonna go into each shop each quality each room one by one and in a methodical manner to make sure that there is nobody hiding in that in that whole area there and and and that's the complication with reports of multiple suspect and the war reports of multiple gunshot if that's the kind of information that they are receiving from the witnesses that they have been providing information that it it takes some time fortunately to really get a handle on what is happening but that's what they have to do they have to be methodical about it because you know the worst case scenario is that you don't go through that process I need somebody gets away there are multiple people that have been shot and killed at a Walmart and shopping mall in el Paso Texas and a a police officer has told us that there is at least one shooter in custody but other suspects that have also been arrested there is no longer an active shooting scene we're told by there are officers that have been seen running through the mall as they try to clear it to render it safe and we're not sure exactly what how many people at this stage have been shot and killed shot and injured we have seen a number of images of people with blood on their faces and running for for cover as people were just out shopping in a mall and a Walmart on a Saturday afternoon when the gunfire rang out we know the FBI and the a TF are on their way is the federal government contributes resources the White House says the president has been briefed the governor of Texas has offered his thoughts and prayers but officers in el Paso were the ones that are primarily responding right now to this scene and the officers with el Paso police have advised anybody to stay away from the mall certainly understandable the democratic presidential candidate battle Rourke represented all Paso said the shooting was truly heartbreaking Leon Castro the other Texan of the race is also he expressed his outrage at the shooting as all manner of politicians now come to respond but mainly the work is with the police and the law enforcement officials who are trying to render the mall safe we have seen images of armed officers running through the shopping mall running through that Walmart as they try to get a handle on exactly what happened and how many people have been shot and killed we do know that it's multiple and at one person at least is in custody maybe others after this rampage of the shopping mall in el Paso Texas I'm Erin could her ski your listening to live coverage from ABC news Brad Garrett formally the FBI now ABC news contributor is on with us now as this shopping mall is that the scene of the latest mass shooting in the country bred up in and it's it's so insidious because it people just walking around going shopping on a Saturday afternoon right and that sort of the sums up mass shootings as far as I'm concerned because by and large they're soft targets like a mall like a school I'll like a place of employment where you know they're not designed to be presto deal and or or foreboding together to go to and so as a result it's sort of for lack of words sort of open season for would be Nash shooters to go to these locations it in so that you know the sad reality Erin is that you're you're mistaken a stop shooters like this you know what you know about them in advance now no longer Forsman obviously it's one of the many things are doing right now is the shooter what his background do we know anything about it which is not in excess but always been our fear for years that you know one mass shooting could potentially trigger another only because of the mindset of

And I mean this for blacks and whites and everybody else the only way that we're going to move forward in the years to come truly as one nation with a common destiny is to address that original sin. And I believe that the best way to get at how we should do. It is actually. "Welcome back to the program. Ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to Gary Goldberg on money matters. And on money matters. We've discussed a lot of issues that range and the economy to leadership, and we have the opportunity to have leaders various fields. Join our program. A lot of them have come from a unique path to success. One of those individuals who is going to be joining me now is wholly on Castro. The former secretary of HUD, housing and urban development is with me here on money matters. He has a new book out. It is very well named its quote, an unlikely journey waking up from my American dream Leon Castro. Welcome the money matters. Thanks a lot. Gary good to be with you. It's a pleasure. I want to start with a question that I think is important for our listeners. I'm the head of the money management firm. And we always look the leading economic indicators as a signal of what might happen. Many people. Don't look at urban centers urban areas that needs stimulation as something that is very vital to our economy. Can you as the former mayor of San Antonio and the head of hood, can you tell us how important new construction is for inner cities. There is no question that the housing market is one of the most powerful generators of opportunity in our country. We saw a decade ago the tremendous negative impact that the people feel the housing market spiral downward. We went through a housing recession. Fortunately, over the last few years what we've seen is both in urban cores, ended, the suburbs. Growth, again, we've seen the housing market recover. And that means more jobs. It means more opportunity. It also brings with it some challenges one of those challenges is that we've seen the rent. A spike in many different communities big and small. It's still rather difficult or folks, even if they have good credit to get a home loan and our homeownership rate is that one of the lowest levels at forty years. So yeah, we're in a lot better shape than we were a decade ago. And that includes the urban core up cities, but we still have some challenges. I think it's important holy on Castro to understand for our audience to understand that mortgage. Availability is always an issue with new construction or their programs that truly help the underprivileged who are trying to build and own in urban centers. There actually are opportunities for folks about us beans those living in urban centers those living in smaller towns to get access to capital. And of course, that the department of housing and urban development, we administered one of those programs, which is the FHA which chores chores mortgages to folks of modest news will may not have the strongest credit score, but they actually are very responsible borrowers. And there's a good rate of repayment. I would encourage folks to look into an FHA h Wardlaw intact today. Advocate short laws fake, significant percentage of loans that go to families of modest beef across the state Julio on when we manage money. We're always looking for leading economic indicators and new. Construction permits for example, would fill that identification. I think and the point that I want to make in my discussion with you is that people should literally root for money being made available to those who are underprivileged because what happens. What happens is new construction starts new appliances. New carpets. And I can go on and on air conditioners, people who get jobs. So of course, we hear more about the suburban areas. But to the point that you, and I are making we need money made available or inner cities and areas that are not right on the forefront of the leading parts of the economy. It's everybody's benefit the stock market benefits. So those who are wealthy who say, well, I want to be not so socialistic it helps them in their market investments..

"leon castro" Discussed on News 96.5 WDBO

"Now, the data show on news ninety six point five WDBO. I don't understand why some of these Republicans are not saying I'm out of here. Let me go into private practice. I'm a I'm a big shot in my community. I'll get a job. I'll get paid well better than I do in government. Probably. And yet, I stay and say will I'm staying there to keep an eye on government because we don't want to go crazy. I understand that logic. But there's a point that in many of these people who are now with Trump gonna be tainted for the rest of their lives. They are not going to be people have not really sick with the they think they want to be with him. And it's gonna make the give them something. But they are paying such a price making a deal with the devil of scary. Oh my gosh. That's Robert de Niro, what did he say said some things like what I don't know Trump's the devil. Go go go. I just like I can't I can't to things that get into first off Heidi Heitkamp is apologizing for an ad in which she apparently missed identified victims of abuse without even their consent. She apologized because she had an ad where a newspaper ad aimed at her opponent where victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape relisted, and they were misidentified. She said that show only recently learned that several of the women named in the ad had an authorized or not actual survivors of abuse. She says this is incompetent. It was wrong. Should never have happened. It was a very flagrant era of the campaign, and I own it. Oh, that's kind of a big deal. Wow. Wow. Democrats have a real hard time with that don't they they have a real tough time and like not leaking stuff and just using people like that. Golly. Stop. And also Houlihan Castro says that he is likely to run in twenty twenty. He's one of my favorite Castro's. Now. Have you guys? I if if you listen to the radio program for any length of time, I told you that you should watch these brothers Julio and Joaquin Castro their mothers co-founder of LaRosa and they're down in San Antonio. And he was I think the what used to be the mayor of San Antonio Castro was the mayor of San Antonio and one of my favorite stories about that happened several years ago at a river walk parade. And San Antonio. They get the barges out, and they decorate them ever river walk parade and William Castro was on the city council, and he was also running for he was running for mayor Baylock a fundraiser or something that he needed to go to and so he skipped the river walk parade and in his spot. Installed his identical. Twin brother Joaquin Castro. It's like the plot from parent trap. But with mayors in San Antonio. And so they were on this barge, and Joaquin was on the barge, and he was waving at everybody and the radio hosts that was announcing it said, he was never told that it was going to be Joaquin Castro that he I mean, it's just said on Castro on the list, and so people were waving, and apparently, they just all pretended. Like, he was the mayor. And apparently, he was the who's the city councilman and. Inadvertently was uncovered and their excuse was quote, I can't help we can't help. But that we look alike. And what keen said, well, they were shouting Liliane at me. And I said, no, it's Joaquin, but nobody can hear me because so many people were loud. They're like twenty thousand people there. Not. Do you really believe that? No, it's not it's walking my brothers at a fundraiser. I'm just pretending to be have like kind of facetiously. Is it worry you that? I mean, like an identical. Twin is the president? Does that worry you does it? Do you think that they could be doing something like Lindsay Lohan stuff? I'll parent trap could be. I mean, there's always that possibility. But then what if they don't get along? And one of them's going to be doing nefarious stuff. And the other one is. And then they can get messy. It's it could get messy. I would think it would make dangerous for the twin? The other one who's not in the White House doesn't get secret service detail. It's true. Because he would look exactly like brother, that's kinda creepy. That's what I would be like, you gotta know, you gotta get some surgery or something Roka's this day, your hair or something because this thing on work. I'm not going to get targeted because you want to run for the White House. I honestly because they both have families. Super tiny secret service for him. I don't know. I don't think they make those. But I I don't know. I it just anyway, I was he's got this interview in Rolling Stone. And he goes he's likely to run in two thousand twenty I called this in two thousand twelve I call this in two thousand and twelve when he gave the keynote speech at the DNC I said they're going to groom him like they did Obama watch him. I said they're gonna make him up and coming except they're just lackluster, he's a total socialist, total socialist. But that was legit. My favorite actually tweeted that story out earlier if you follow me on Twitter at D lash. Because he is one of my that was my favorite. Let me Hello. This is what the Castro brothers dead. And now Hulu on Castro from Texas wants to the big socialist from Texas wants to run for president twenty twenty. They don't speak Spanish, you said that you think betas speaks better. They don't speak betcha. Beta speaks better Spanish than they don't speak it. So well. So this is this is literally what their this is the story mayoral candidate says twin took place in parade mayoral hopeful who Leon Castro acknowledged Wednesday that his twin brother took his place in a parade this week wave unit. Onlookers who mistook the standard for the candidate Castro told the Associated Press that he had a convict conflicting event fundraiser and didn't intend to deceive anyone when he substituted. His brother's state rep Joaquin Castro on the city council barge without telling anyone. Says Julio unquote, we can't help that we look like each other in quote, what they oh sorry, you two hundred and fifty thousand people on the river walk. Oh, this is so funny. This is so funny. It said that they all mistook the state rep for the mayoral hopeful, quote, when he was waving they would say Julia on and he would say, no, it's Joaquin, but you can't really yell at two hundred thousand people along the route said who Leon Castro river parade announcer. Bob Guthrie told the radio station. Which first reported the story that materials provided to him showed Hooghly on his brother among passengers on the city council float he said, he wasn't told about a replacement. He goes, I thought I was Castro myself. I'm sure tens of thousands of others. Did he says quote or no said Phil harder burger when a Castro's opponents? He says that he thought it was kind of dishonest and deceptive Ed creepy onto that because it is. And he goes if you're eighteen years old and having a data might be a youthful prank. When you swipe about your brother gross. But when you're running for mayor of a city with one point three million people, and you send your brother and his an impersonator. I do see a problem with it. Julio instead that his brother all usually accompanies them and they're rarely mistaken for each other when together. Well, yeah. 'cause y'all are together. I just I don't know. He said they promised that they never stood in for one another in their official duties. Yeah. Okay. So great. Yeah. So Rolling Stone. Did a piece on them on him? Leon Castro wanting to run for twenty twenty something. Yeah. Well. Yeah. I think that's. Have you seen? Dave, dave. I remember seeing that when I was a kid. Would it be like, Dave? When they switched out one president for his d'appel ganger. Yeah. I said, I would I would think this is the whole thing is just creepy. It's super creepy. Anyway, but he's keep an eye on. Wear. Name tags is what I'm thinking they should wear New Hampshire dye their hair dye their hair surgery hair diets have I'm thinking it's like super easy just name tag. Because then they could switch the name tags. Yeah. I'm just too trusting you trust people. You can't trust anyone in this business. Can you just have to think everyone's gonna hurt you betray you? It's important. Everyone's a liar. If you realized that then going to be fine. Oh, man. Then it's all good. Well, my goodness. So I. I just I just keep an eye on those. But I knew that he was going to be a I knew they were going to be up and commerce because they kind of been positioned for that. But twenty twenty I think is very ambitious. Do you see how crowded this filter going to be you gotta Kamala Harris Quebec, Cory Booker? Elizabeth warren. Castro who else? Michael bloomberg. Crazy pants squad. That's what's going to happen while we'll sit to who's going to run the swallow guy. That's right swale. Well, swap bad. That's not funny. So yeah, I don't know. I I run Jerry Brown Jerry Brown's running late. Yeah. Okay. So yeah. All the crazy. So there goes there's no chance ever for another moderate democrat ever to run. It's done. There's not gonna be any more moderate Democrats. I think ever it is. It's it's pretty much done at this point. Yeah. That's right. You got Jill Brian naughty. Okay. Sorry. Let's do this. Again, you have Michael avenue. The guy who did the Lindsay Lohan parent trap with his twin brother Julio Castro. You have Kamala Harris correspondent. Author Warren who else Jerry Brown? Swallow, well, Biden, maybe even Hillary considering running. I mean, that's a possibility. Are you looking at me like I'm silly. But there's no way she's gonna wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have the influence in the party anymore yet to shut up even conceited. She has no influence in the party anymore. But look at the look at this the roundup, they have the craziest people in the party. The fringe is now the mainstream. Think about that. The fringe is now the mainstream in the party. Ooh. That's not good. We have more to get into today. Stupidity on the way. In the meantime, carshield's a great program to have especially as we're moving into.
