SF Giants exclude Aubrey Huff from 2010 World Series reunion, citing 'unacceptable' tweets
"I got it wrong in the last segment by saying that Aubrey huff was an average to below average major league. I looked up the stats over the break and he was slightly above average. So don't mean to disparage man Just because of what it is that he is saying that is getting him. Banned from giants. Reunion I do find interesting STU gods because I don't believe Sports franchises are generally moral entities. Bright leave business comes first and in San Francisco especially where you have a customer base. That is more liberal than Middle America. Say you can't be offending a women when he's saying things like quote divorce rates among athletes will continue to rise until the justice system is rightfully fixed. Way Women who have never thrown a touchdown pass hit a game winning three or hit a two. Oh slider deserve half of a man's hard earned money just for having babies and while it really shouldn't matter considering like his comments the fact that the giants actually have a woman as a first base coach does add another layer to this. I'm I wonder though because while I don't think that Aubrey huff makes for a very sympathetic victim. I do think that these reunion celebrations should involve the if people have their freedom if the players have their freedom right They should involve those players like the giants are doing an awful lot like the giant built. This monument of a BALLPARK ON BARRY BONDS. His feet and then kick them out of the park. The giants are also run by an organization. Run by a man the only man I can think of in baseball at the top of the sport who got into a very public videotaped and banned domestic abuse situation in front of people that people got to see and baseball punish. Is there a line though? Like if the met celebrate the eighty six team and Lenny Dykstra as a free man. Should the mets have the right to not include Lenny Dykstra and that celebration? Look I am just telling you that these are moral entities and when they start waving around there moralities I tend to be skeptical and think they're trying to protect their business. That's about customers and not morality. Yeah well this is a business venture and I mean I guess Kudos to them getting out in front of it because if Aubrey huff does show up to this and they either choose to ignore his past or do it. Dan says which is this really for the players. Let them get together. Whatever then you have all sorts of protests outside and becomes an ugly situation. And then what's going to end up happening is you'RE GONNA end up bending the public pressure anyways and uninviting him but my the Aubrey Huff I'm guessing has not changed much since two thousand ten. In fact he hasn't changed. The Times have changed. The world has changed okay but to. I guess to Dan's Point Aubrey. Huff was a big part of that team in a reason that he won the world series. And he's the exact same person now as he was then but the times have changed. Should it be excluded? Because The Times have changed. I mean they have a two thousand ten but I think what I believe. Is that the moralizing around sports. As if it were something pure doesn't need to infect these particular things which are just nostalgia and memories like you you 'cause almost as much attention bring almost as much attention to this nobody. Do you think a lot of people would have said you think a lot of people would have said Aubrey. Huff should not be invited to that. Because Lenny Dykstra has committed actual crime And plenty of people would have enjoyed seeing Lenny dykstra because the remembering the baseball player. They're not remembering the human being. I imagine it came up in some sort of promotions meeting where someone right raise the question. What are we? GonNa do about Aubrey. Huff and someone asked. What do you mean? And then they brought up these tweets these public comments and they wait everything look. I'm sure I'm Aubrey. Huff probably knows what's headed in his direction. If even chooses to attend one of these things at the very least it's massive amounts of doing it could be picketing it could be all sorts of ticketing union. I'm Aubrey huff. Could become the face of something larger in an election year in a in a tumultuous time in our country I think he could be lifted up to be something more than what. This is really a ten year celebration of a sports team. And I can't fault the giants for not wanting any part of the conversation in that city. There's picketing the cubs are actually celebrate that world series and Chapman. Is HE GONNA be invited or people are GonNa have a problem with that? I mean he was a big part of that team Chapman. He's got some stuff I just I don't know how you're supposed to do this stuff. When you say you've heard me say last week I hate being governed by public relations and what I'm telling you is the giants just invited it. And we might not have even noticed that is postulated bigger story. It it it may not have arrived in our doorstep. It might have been a San Francisco story but it might not have gotten all the way over here to the other side of the country. If the giants hadn't taken the preemptive public relations measure of punishing a guy who Understandably some of the things. This is not a defense of anything that he's saying. I'm just wondering whether or not they've brought attention to something this by virtue signaling here by by saying look we are a virtuous franchise. That doesn't tolerate Aubrey huff. Unless he's winning the world series for us. I mean I never would have known of Aubrey. Huff stances comments or what he tweeted out. Had the giants not invited into this? There hasn't been much of a secret people understand that he's been one of these people who says things that are objectionable questionable. Often you know just not ethically sound some of the things that he's doing and I understand why the giants wouldn't want that voice at a reunion but that face was in their uniform. That face was wearing Their colors and holding up that trophy and I just don't get making ten years later a ceremony. That's meant to celebrate the achievements. I don't get Bringing this kind of unwanted attention to your franchise by taking a measure that I feel is something. That doesn't have a lot of precedent. I don't you know if a guy's in jail because students is bringing up Chapman thing Chapman Chapman lose games in baseball for that domestic abuse crime. I know that it is something that was questionable when they signed him because they overlooked whatever you Think the morality should have been there in order of in order to choose one hundred and three mile an hour fastball. He was suspended. Thirty Games So you've got to assist Aubrey. Huff not been suspended right and I hate for this any of this to sound like a pencil plate for ten years. I I hate for any of this to sound like. I'm defending this dude. Or what he says but I just don't get the idea of attaching morality to a reunion

If you had to pick a team I mean look I mean the Yankees are they're looking strong. You know I mean when he said deal right. I said the N._F._l.. But yeah you can do you can throw so so on the N._F._l.. Again I mean that's kind of you know. It's Kinda up for grabs or you know but <hes> you know who's playing the best in right. Now I mean the dodgers are strong wrong and you know they they got. I mean quite a line of men that that's shortstop is is just a theory and then they had that's great bulk of you. Know solid all around so you know so I I would put I would say I would saying that. The dodgers dodgers world series dodgers are plus one hundred now. Is there any any chance you would take a shot at like the phillies fourteen to one to win the pennant know eh them for them to win the panic. Yeah I mean I think they're right there. Maybe a game stack and forthright yes so yeah I think the postseason there. That's that's a bad got kind of work. You know <hes> or something that's worth taking a risk because we get such good. You know to probably pay pretty good. I don't know but but as far as I said <hes> it's just hard man to to bet on baseball man people you know it's just very very difficult and and you know from what I understand. Basketball is real easy to bet on <hes> football's number one thing to bet on is is football you know and and like you know again no ice football lot at the end of the time Sundays Danny Sheridan Guy. I want somebody just to confirm my bed and I it was some fucking Bozo. I didn't you know but in your gambling we start losing like you know either desperate things you know all your football players out gamblers out there because you know there's you know the sixty million people in America that bet on sports in thank you know five hundred the dog industry you know and so it's Kinda weird. I was telling you this about this yesterday. When we talked is that you know you're not strip club? I remember we were talking Yeah Yeah. It was fun man John Joking joking joking so we have so I'm going. This is is that <hes> you know at the end of the day it comes down to being like it's hard to bet on on on something that they these they get so figure it out. You know what I mean. The market is really cornered yeah yeah but so we're going with that. Is that if you have if you have somebody that can you you don't give me some tickets and and they can typically sixty percents. I think at six fifty percents of the break either right with the with the big yeah. I think it's a two point four percent yeah there you go so that's always I and you know. I don't really well my cousin. Sell you know he's pretty handicapper did well. You should check our show. We're we're going to be hitting eighty percent this season right. "And I got called up the big leagues my first game against the reds and T- roads so playing you know <hes> manager player you know replay? I chose manager so the first thing about that I chance into versus hero says congratulations kid the only got four thousand go to catch me sounds like some would say that but so then as he goes on on like you know hearing all rumors we don't what's going on but you know like right before the game like is why is a change you know feel platoon situation. Whatever we're pretty game? He scratches a starter and starts as middle reliever you know and next thing you know. It's like five enough to third. Stop Pinch hitting for peace so it's like. Everyone says he's got the over. 'cause he really really the only thing controlling baseball I mean you can't really control control anything else because I mean even if you have your grace going okay I mean he's still could lose because the other team might not score enough runs but if you WANNA lock in a win in baseball you know that you know obviously when t- Rosewood pull star and put a middle reliever there around the drivers pretty obvious but but yeah so that's <hes> again we we didn't it was so public you know that we all knew in and then by the way he acted so yeah but again that's on something else. WanNa talk about because <hes> tea rose but I've been doing this real quick on tvos Jefferson whether it's like people out there listening to understand when it's like 'cause like I saw him another the time card show and I said I don't even talked about any outside. Just find out how the hell you twenty years went twenty years and get two hundred hits to my best year sadly at everything okay I mean I was right at two hundred years when ninety seven whatever he did it for and I said to crack me by the way by way try twenty three so. Did you know they don't crazy that is because the player I mean and so but what's necessary use betting on your own fucking team though you know I mean that's Roger Clemens not in there and he's the one right hand are didn't want to say this guy was a fucking me Harry fucking aspen who you know I know politician right hand but human remains Biaz look like fucking red-headed stepchild when he broke his bad the winters wrong right yeah yeah so yeah so <hes> but as he was going to say as a player I think we were talking <hes> before. We did the podcast couple of days back. You were saying you had noticed some trends as far as baseball like Wenda wanted to bet on a team went to not what was that your point you bring up actually so so I can't tell anybody how to get baseball because like I said I played games and. Tell you if I was GONNA win. You know unless people advantage in you know so so so I'm going this is is if you look at the staff anyway. I don't have a bunch of people out there that do things off involved with the computer so so if you take the home Sanit has to Sunday Day game has to be at least espy more than seven days so ten game wholesale. You have a lot of or nine game so what happens is is the home team 'cause they're leaving. The managers had a force is starters. Oppose the rescue them with people do on Sunday games and then the team that's been on the road for ten days is done tired and ready to get the hell out up back home and so it's probably about an eighty to ninety percent win rate infancy Sunday <hes> and you bet on the home team. You know so look to fade a team. That's wrapping road trip the Eh Getaway Day you know what I mean. We came like they're all tired. Do they even chasing those g and drinking for ten days to go back home each of your batteries. You know what I mean Yeah Lenny when you're on the road. What was I mean? I feel like you probably have a million stories. But what was your best era for as far as chasing tail in your playing robbing night ninety three ninety to steer.

"Did you ever play with guys that you think were betting on Games. Did you ever see any sort of that action going on no one ever bid on sport like I said you know I tell somebody you know about heroes. I played in the fucking game like save is GonNa win so but it's still like leading into that joke whole problem with this whole hall of fame deal the way you know like the three players in the history of baseball aren't in the hall of fame which is bonds Rose Clemens and like I mean escorted out of them offices many times though his I asked him I said I want to know what the threshold is to make someone a bad enough guy that I'll be in the hall of fame because guys that are in the hall of fame now well if you took a look at Babe Ruth or some of these other cobb was not a good man right and they they had we had now they would've used it to so but they still did the same thing worse. You know like I said what happened. What about some of that beats our white? That's okay I said like so. Where do you draw the line? What's fucking threshold? I said Infanta means are okay. Everyone has those guys in the hall of fame. All admitted there on felonies green is seem to thing what is it and it says they won't answer anything. They were answering. I said I want to know what the funky threshold is is to get into the hall of fame. Is this a good guy contest or just all how's it works and so the next thing you know not in cuffs this time because I've been on before you know and so we oh you storm you go to the baseball writers hall of fame where they get together and decide who's going and kind of go into their meeting. Why go into the extra vases you know we're talking to the people that are there and then more people are coming but so that leads is being to betting on baseball so I broke in and I got called up the big leagues my first game against the reds and T- roads so playing you know <hes> manager player you know replay?.

"Happened to be watching CBS sports network yesterday, and what flashes up on the screen is our call in number at times on CBS sports network. So this friend of oil can Boyd in Rhode Island sees the call in number. Here's us talking about it. Right sit down, and then send it to oil can Boyd himself says these guys wanna talk to you. So oil can Boyd all day long is dial in the call in number to try to get to us or what he thinks is us finally gets through from one to three during CMB, Sean marash, the producer over there. Picks up the phone. Goes. Hey, it's okay. And boy, oh boy. Imagine, Sean marash. Betting oil can Boyd. If you're the relocation Boyd spell oil can. I don't believe you. Race between oil can't the one word. So what is your uniform number? So then Carlin gets on the phone and carlin's big time producer, he produced Mike and the mad dog, he's an all time producer. He gets on the phone, and he starts vetting oil can Boyd getting into some real stuff didn't Carlin text you during this moment. Did he texted me and said, hey oil can Boyd called in is it. Okay. If we put them on because I guess he thought I had reached out oil can Boyd because I said to you reach out the oil, and I said, I have no idea how to reach out oil camp Boyd at. But he called it coming call them. Dennis boy. Well oil. See that's one of those nicknames that you have to call them oil short because that's what everybody knows it. But if I said Dennis Boyd, you're thinking that's a guy lives down the block from you can Boyd is the guy that we're talking about. Right. So they venom it's the real oil can Boyd he goes on the show, and when it's like a serious topic about whether or not you've been subjected to racist language, and people are prefacing every question with oil can tell me about this racist tirade. Zaki was doing that. Everybody was everybody oil can oil oil can can throw a couple of racial slurs. Can you tell me, yes? Or no. If for okay. Start with. So he goes on a says that he didn't hear this stuff. But he thinks that it probably happened. Right. And he also had some interesting takes on racism like he believes it. Wade Boggs is a racist. But Wade Boggs of the godfather of one of his kids doesn't blame. Wade Boggs for being a racist. Because he grew up in Florida away on it went from oil Kamboi one from Lenny Dykstra, and Ron darling to like Wade Boggs. Well. Example of how people become racist. I guess in how his take on it is and who he forgives for that type of stuff, whatever. So I'm not up on Boston Red Sox baseball. But is this like a big story or has it been a big story in Boston between oil Kamboi Wade bond, though, not don't think so because they're friendly oil can said it was in his book. All right. I guess he had a book wile ago. Now, Rodney this is not the first time Ronnie has written a book. So this is an interesting part of this. And I gotta give a hat tip to my buddy, Sal licata who works here part time S and why he had the Ron darling because he's a sick met fan. The Ron darling book couple years ago, I think three years ago that was game seven nine hundred eighty six. So he's I think I heard this story before so he ends up going through finding that story. And Ron darling has told this story in another book a couple of years ago, the differences, and we could sit here at breach of the passages. But we'll put you to sleep the difference is when he told the story the first time he used language like unsuitable comments venomous chatter. His tirade was remarkable. Fearless tasteless relentless never said anything about racism and never really talked about Lenny Dykstra character. Whereas in vis one this one hundred and eight stitches one near the hero of game. Three was also an a hole of the game. Lenny Dykstra, wanna baseball's all. Time thugs there always seems to be a guy in every organization in every walk of life who gets away with murder murder being a figurative terminus case while that was Lenny. So the point being is that the language in this wholly different is totally different. But it's the same story. Yeah. It's just for some reason Ronnie decide to unload on Lenny Dykstra in this book, and that's racist part of it. I get it. And I I would think that if our money I'd be responding to it the way of money probably is responding to it as well. But I'm not saying that Ron darling is wrong. I mean, Ron darling was there. Yeah. And he is probably the only coherent one there, by the way, sitting there listening between this, of course, Ronnie goes on in this book and starts talking about it. And then invokes the whole while I should have done something about it. And I did well and this kind of lives with me to this day sticking a couple steps ahead because people are going to say, well, what are your sat there and didn't say anything about it? What I'm saying is like he's removing himself from the vitriol, even though he also is saying that he sat there, and he supported it because I guess in his mind, and I'm only thinking the way that an athlete with. Thank hey, we won the game. That's all that matters. And that was the impetus of us ultimately winning the World Series was getting off to the start that we got off to in the first any against Dennis oil can Boyd. Yeah. So. Lettuce language here is is what is fueling everything. Right. Absolutely. Same story different characterizations. This is since line is since we all know, what Lenny stories over the last five years now all of a sudden this. It's a lot easier to pin. Something on Lenny Dykstra, when you know, what's going. I if you're Ron darling isn't what we're saying yesterday. If you're going to tell a story or out somebody Lenny Dykstra life makes it easy for people to believe that he could be involved in something. Like, right. Well, he says he basically says, you know, he was throwing every insult an expletive in his direction foul racist. Hateful hurtful stuff. I don't want to be too specific here because I don't want to be. I don't want to commemorate this dark moment in Mets history..

"I mean i'm thinking man here's a guy that was really great made a lot of money and now he's really done well after baseball in about ten months after that episode he was imprisoned thousand eight he was estimated to be worth fifty eight million okay and then in two thousand nine he filed chapter eleven there you go this thing less than fifty thousand in assets to make things worse by the way sort of a segue on the lenny dykstra story wayne gretzky purchased his old six bedroom eight bathroom mansion in thousand oaks california for thirteen and a half million dollars now that alone not really newsworthy because she say well wayne gretzky all the money in the world right it is a property that gretzky previously sold to former baseball star lenny dykstra for eighteen and a half million played five million bucks in two thousand nine it says that dykstra was living out of his car and in hotel lobbies how do you have fifty five million in oh eight and living out of a car in oh nine i mean now he's he said that he auctioned off his world series ring for fifty six thousand dollars while yep yeah that's few problems he took a lot of money from a lot of people that's what got him in the in the big house yep and then he was investigated for grand theft and two thousand eleven prison and embiid been charged with embezzling from a bankruptcy estate he faced up to five years in prison if convicted that say and then he went three you definitely end yeah he went in bankruptcy fraud concealment of assets and money laundering and then there's richie incognito this story is gotten better than it was yesterday richie incognito says he apparently thought he was under surveillance by government officials when he was taken by police officers who believed to him to be an altered paranoid state they took him in for an involuntary psyche valuation and according to the report when officers approached him ritchie told them he was running nsa class level three documents through his phone and according to the officers he also said he.

"It's been a helluva time line there thankfully for lenny dykstra he doesn't play football or else he would be told that he now has to right right right also but he would still be picked up by the cowboys donlevatar you are the best and when i say the best i mean the very worst and most evil stugotz the worst but this time worse this is live at our show with a stu gods on espn radio let's head to the shell pennzoil performance line where my buddy espn senior writer arosh markazi joins us he can follow him on twitter at arosh markazi so the lineup the matchup is set it's going to be the capitals versus the golden knights and arosh always gets the plum gigs which means hanging out in vegas for the first ever stanley cup final involving vegas professional hockey team so now that we know that the caps are in arash does this change anything about how you're predicting the series goes not on the ice but in general the coverage in and the story lines no you know i i kind of figured if it was tampa bay would've been harder route because you know the first two games would have been in tampa bay a potential game seven would have been in tampa bay that would have been hard but now vegas not only is in the stanley cup finals but has the first two games has a potential game seven so i'm a little bit more confident and i know capital fans don't wanna hear that but listen i mean this is a team of destiny they found a way to win and whenever they've won by the way they've won on the road so i mean they they could potentially close this out on the robot you want that potential game seven to be at home.
