"We will be at Jamous sliding maquina this Friday so head on out, there will be a Jay Mo's 10160 191st Street, all brought to you. By Miller Lights and Jay Mo's in Maquina, where we will be on Friday. 2 to 6. That's a cool place. It is. I'll always have had trouble like my address in Cincinnati, where I grew up, was one away to five bridal pathway. When I see numbers like I I freeze when I see them when I'm reading them here in Chicago one There's a lot of 160 191st street like I always find myself going. 10 1 60 like Then I just remind myself Go back when you grow up in Cincinnati. It wasn't 10 8 to 5. It was one way to five. That's what we do on the South side. That's where I'm from Southside. So, yeah. So how would I say it would be 10 1, 60 or 1016 of See? Now I have to have the paper. Yeah, Like I always get confused as to house and 6191st. Okay, so one on 1 60. Okay. One on 1 60. That's the cadence. Okay. Here of a phone number where people screw up the cadence and the phone number. You never remember. Right? 4248321? What? Yeah. No, I can't remember that right? Was that kids and that's playing in my life. But I remember my address growing up in my home telephone number 513. I still have the home phone number to five. What was it 5132 and not have I think I used to remember now I don't anymore. I did 99513. Can we call it? You should call it if you remember it. I will. I remember before you get anyway, Zander's got the lineup for tonight's the White Sox in Oakland. Uh, we've got Louis 5135632909. There It is. All right. Write that down color around Louis Robert. He's in center field. He's leading off. You know, I'm like katanas. At third. He's batting second. Batting third. Jose Bre You playing first tonight in Jimenez is in the cleanup spot left field as Monty's behind the plate, batting fifth Gavin Sheets as the D H batting six. Larry Garcia's in for T A Batting seventh at short and move on in right field, batting eighth, and Cesar Hernandez is in the last spot, batting second. And Jimmy Lambert. I'm saying, playing second base and Jimmy Lambert Is on the bump. Now. Tonight it begins like we were upstairs. I was asking you about your White Sox confidence in the eye dot bullpen and remember, I got reminds you to start seeing motorcycles. Motorcycle safety is everyone's responsibility. Learn more at life or death. Illinois dot com It starts now, right The run to the end of the regular season starts tonight. Game one of the three game set with I Should Say We've talked about this, too. I'm sure you guys hit upon it after the field of Dreams game. Tony sat the guys down and said, Look, Let's treat this like a playoff run. And they came out seven and seven. Now that was blue jays. That was the raise. Those are tough teams. Yeah, you know, so that's not anything you know. That wasn't a lie. I didn't see that as an issue. But I do as we talked to Len KASPER, this I l stuff for the pictures and wrote on. That is a concern because that is the arm tartness. Now. I can't remember. Lance had the hammy to did Lance. Have an answer? I think it was me inflammation. And Louis. Uh, Giolito handy. Hear me, Okay. And listen, I'm sure those are all things that they're going to get past and everything will be OK. Ham is can linger, although this one is supposed to be less severe than the last one he suffered through, But they're as impressive as their everyday lineup is their starting rotation in the first half of the season was the reason why I was so excited about their chances in the post Now with what's happening, Lambert tonight we've got Lopez, who has shown He's pretty strong. He's coming to spell. Uh, kaiko a few times. Yes, and in with good results, and whoever thought we'd say Lopez did the rescue? Yes, but that's been a great story this year, so Now it's time while we're dealing with the L stuff with the starting pitchers. Now is the time that that middle relief really has to step up. And of course, we have rock stars as closers. So I mean, listen at all on paper at all it all looks and lens. Very call me as we were talking about. He's very calm. Yes. You settle me down. That's an incredible baseball name. Not sure it's as good as the new Cardinal Lars Newt Bar. Please discuss Chadwick Trump or large Newt Bar. What is the better name? Well, I think Chadwick Trump. It doesn't really pretend to be anything else but that name Lars. Newt Bar is confusing. I feel like I feel like I feel like Lars Newt Bar is a candy name Gone arrived like when I say large new bar. I'm actually supposed to be saying Mars Nut bar, and I'm messing it up. You know what I mean? But does yeah, it sounds like there's newgate in it like I'm imagining what large nude bar would be, and I feel like it's Chewy. It's chewy, You know, like a little salty, sweet deliciousness. "Yes, if it rains get a rain top, right and just kind of stand in the window. But I'm telling you guys, this will end here in the next day or two again, too. Sure about that, Yes. Come on their longest losing streak of the last 20 years has 12 games. Of course. I mean, teams don't lose. I lived through 14. I know, but even that, Okay, We're getting a 14. You're not going to loot They're not going to lose 15 16 in a row. Of course. That's the logical perspective, Carmen, But the hope is that we can convince cap to do this and then they've got a tough slate of pitching matchups against the Phillies. So if the Phillies could continue the streak and sure enough for whatever reason the Cardinals sweep them. You got the all Star break. That's not that's not the possibility until all right a week. I didn't think I didn't think about that. That's the hope but out of the All Star break, they play the Diamondbacks like six times. So I mean going to at some point, That's a good point. I mean, if they lose through the weekend come Monday. It'll be all right. He's He's stuck because they don't play again till Friday. Correct. That's a good point. All right. I am telling you guys, it's going to end tonight or tomorrow. The losing streak will end tonight or tomorrow. It will it just It's baseball. Like like Chris said. He goes. I don't know It's baseball. It's weird. And you're going to be on the There'll be a heavy underdog in one of these games, and they'll still find a way to Papa 65 win. It's 27 Yankees greatest team of all time. Their longest winning streak was nine. Exactly. They didn't have a 10 game winning streak. That's what I mean. Baseball is weird. Crazy. All there is to I'm going to get out of your rights. "Rest and rehab. Maybe does come back. He's on the 60 Day. I l We have light sax baseball tonight at 6, 30, Connor Len. And Darren Jackson with your pre game and then your call of the first pitch tonight between the Blue Jays and white socks and an awful lot of adversity, and we haven't even reached the halfway point of June. And they've done well with it so far. Um and you just wonder if they can continue to do well. They do have the great pitching. Let's talk to the voice of the White Sox right now. Len KASPER joins us each and every week he joins us right now in the Corona hotline. Then what was your reaction when you heard the news about Nick Madrigal? Well, you know it's interesting guys, because you know, I do that Tony LaRussa show every day and We generally have a time frame and that got pushed back a little bit, so I immediately thought it's probably about an injury. And then when Rickon shows up on the media zoom You go. Oh, and he even alluded to that, so I didn't expect it to be good news. And it wasn't the first place I go as I feel really bad for the player. It's the way I felt when a lawyer went down. It's the way I felt when Luis got hurt. And it's definitely how I feel with Nick, who was having a really nice stretch. I mean offensively, starting to hit the ball for Gap Power. Four triples to Have a share of the American League lead. I think defensively has been much better here of late. Just a guy you can count on every day in your lineup and to now no That he might not be available for the rest of the year, which would be the worst case scenario and I think you have to kind of operate with that, at least in the back of your mind. If you're the White Sox, it's pretty devastating. And the other part is Now that you look ahead. There wasn't a ton of depth in terms of middle infield here, and you're really starting to test that. Fortunately, it's a team that's in first place, and that helps a lot, But it's a bad one. Not going to lie. It's amazing isn't Atlanta I just mentioned the adversity that this team is face? We're not even to the halfway point. June 13 games over 500. I mean, you've got some great individual performances from their rotation. But the vibe in that clubhouse has been so good and so strong at at some point, you know, All of these injuries have to take their toll on their record, doesn't it? Well, Not necessarily Tom. I mean, I think that I think they are really good. And I think they're deep generally, and you give this front office a lot of credit and and the manager and the staff and the players themselves for having Defensive versatility, with all the infielders having to play the outfield. I think that's kind of the silver lining behind all this, but I look at the Toronto Blue Jays. I mean, half their bullpen is on the injured list. The Yankees have been One of the most ravaged teams in baseball, the last two or three years with injury and they just won 100 games every year, right? The Dodgers have battled a lot of injuries, so nobody feels sorry for you, anyway, is an industry type thing where a lot of guys right now are hurt an important players. But it doesn't make it any easier in the moment, I guess when you have to contemplate life without a guy like Nick now I don't know if and when a Loy and Luis Robert are going to be back, But I think the flip side to this Is for these three guys in particular. If you get them back at all this year Now you kind of feel like it's a bonus, and it could be a huge lift late in the season. If any of that happens, Len, I know you're an exceptionally sharp guy. I do not know. Apologies, whether or not you have a medical degree, but I'm going to ask you the question anyway. Okay, But kin is there any way to connect any of these dots? I know the alloy injuries and upper body injury and they Robert Injuries, a hip injury, But you just mentioned there's a series of of injuries across Lee. Can you point to anything that would explain why they're so many injuries? Not just with this team that may be in major league baseball to this point, I can't. I think there are some theories out there about the starting the stopping the starting again last year. That weird year everybody had And that somehow could be connected. But I I don't really know. I know. Every team is trying to figure out how to prevent These things from happening, But at the end of the day, man.

"Says NFL Hold our beer again right once again hold our beer, right. And Michael K is telling, uh, that's not Gary Cole that he should be throwing at Josh Donaldson, Josh Townsend's ribs and breaking her. I agree with what what Jason is saying. Give us an explanation for why you came to the conclusion that and you know where I stand on this. I have said it is in the age of zoom in the age of technology, and Mark Lazarus, who covers the Hawks, and an interesting thing like we don't even need the umpires in that the umpires are not even involved in this. They have the stupid headsets on And as Lazarus put, you could put a green light red light. If the challenge is successful to green light. If it's not, it's a red light. You don't need them. Why are we watching umpires and headsets? What we need is what the XFL did. I don't know if you remember what the XFL did, and there should be a camera on the guy reviewing the play, and he should talk you through it, and they should put it on the jumbo trying In the stadium and on our broadcast. We should get the camera in the sound of the guy. We're reviewing the play in New York, and he could announce This is the angle. It's inconclusive. We don't know where he tagged him. And this is why it is full transparency. Full transparency. What are you afraid of? Like we don't need makeup umpires. We don't need these guys. These guys stink anyway, They're going to be robot home going to D. C with some of the calls Last night from the I was watching the Cubs Padres game. I don't think I've seen a worst performance by a home plate umpire all year long. And there was one game this year where I've got, like only 85% of the strikes and balls, right? So it is that the home plate umpire through a bat in unintentionally and hit Jose Bre you in the leg last, so I don't need those guys might need less of those guys. What I need is New York with technology today. It is so easy to just put the camera there and to say, okay? Fans. Now we go to New York. What are they going to rule wants them review it. Getting it right is is the ultimate issue here, But it's also entertainment. And if you're looking to, and this is just another way to do it, right if you're looking to appease your fans. And give them an inside. Look at something else. How does it work? How's the sausage made, you know, show us who just think it. It's not going to be the determining factor for whether or not I sit down and watch a baseball game. It just enhances the present. Absolutely. And it tells you why. And he says, Look. Don't know if he's safer out here. We can tell definitive anyone where he was tagged based on our evaluation here, and we don't even know if they have extra camera angles, right? That's the other thing. You're you're absolutely right. Like the ones that we see on replay. We don't know if Major League baseball's secret angles. I don't know how they would do that. But I still want to know. I mean, Yeah, I think I think it would enhance and I did not really realize that. But Jason also said we this has been promised. What going forward after the 2021 season? Is that well right that they're going to be like. Think about it. The NBA referees now explain what they see at least cos you're going to be miked up and tell you what has transpired. But But I think the referee is a part of the review process in the N F in a in the NFL and also be in the NBA would think hockey. They do this to Major League Baseball is the only sport That you don't get an explanation to why they either upheld or changed. I would also think that the guy who made the call should be on the head said actually, in some way, shape or form whether it's it's Pertinent or not explaining what happened to the replay official as well or just be there. If there's a question that needs to be asked, Alright, we'll ask Len KASPER about this. His thoughts. We'll ask him what the sacks should be looking for position. Player wise, the voice of the White Sox Len KASPER joins us next, he was listening to Waddle and Sylvia..

"Out for the year with a hamstring tear. A Drew, who listens to the shell responded to by Scottie Pippen thought which I just say the guys who live in glass houses, he wrote this book. And I think he's still writing it. It's called unguarded. I believe it's coming out November. I can't. I can't wait to read it. It's gonna love it. But, he said, spoken like a true Jordan Fanboy to soften the blow in Scotty's book reveals the truth about Jordan. And what kind of a teammate he really was. And this is less about Michael. Because I'm I believe that if you really watched closely the last dance, I think The last dance revealed that Michael was a jerk. Michael was a bully. That even though it was his production, we kind of knew that. Yeah, we will. And for those who didn't I think it's sort of highlighted it. Yes, but like nothing new there. I I just think that that Scottie Pippen you tell me And again, I preface it all by saying I love Scotty. He's one of my favorite all time players, but his warts are big and his wards are real. You give me a bigger Chicago sports offense than sitting out the last 1.8 seconds of a playoff game. Because you didn't get your play drawn up. Give me one like people crushed Sammy for leaving a game early in 2004. The Cubs were out of it. It was the last game of the year and he left. Scottie Pippen set out 1.8 seconds because Phil drew up a play for Tony Ku coach. Pretty egregious sports. Really give me give me like a bigger give me any bigger. Chicago sports offense. Yeah, I can't find one. I don't think you top of my head, and so I like he's going to point fingers at other people. I don't think he can win that battle. I just don't I really don't. Um all right before we get to Benetti, Chris, let's play. You're on censorship that you put together describe what we do here. Well, Yeah. So what I've done in the past. So have you guys ever watched Jimmy Kimmel? Yes. Come on. You know, Jimmy Kimmel has a segment called unnecessary censorship. Right? They take clips of press conferences, Presidents. We had a good one about capping his salmon. Right. Speaking of a bit like back in March. Here's a good one actually doing salmon tonight. With a hard pass. Uh, you haven't had my salmon with cream sauce. Yeah, that's it Worse now, it's delicious, man. What do you make? How do you make a cream sauce? And don't say I I do. I take fresh peel it. I put the pieces of the orange Into a sauce that has some cream in it and has a little bit of bad to just want a little bit thicker. Put in a few pieces of orange and then I squeezed Get the juice in there. Let it cook up. Let the orange steep into the substance, the sauce and then I drizzle it over the top of the and then I make broccoli in the oven. When it's just about done. I Sprinkle but let that bacon and melt. Oh, what a dinner, man. Yeah, you know, good fun, right? Yeah. Cat, unnecessary censorship. So this morning I was listening The cap and Jay Hood our morning show 7 to 10 every weekday morning, Right here on ESPN 1000. And here's some unnecessary censorship on cap and Jay Hood back in your day cap or when I was a kid, I'm watching and I'm seeing the not white But there was something on it. Where, like, Okay, well, there's enough, but on this thing where I could be able to have control and and that's the difference, because when you get a fresh, you get the To start It's slick. Yes, you've got to use some spit and you've got to kind of rub it up so it doesn't slip out of your hand. Not supposed to be that you get from the store is not supposed to be that simple. It's supposed to be rubbed up. All the highlights all the I remember getting what it's like this. Not even like the one I play with at home because of one I won't play with at home is from the store or, like Pearl White. Oh, that's that's fantastic. Oh, these like I don't know what they were rubbing up. Oh, no, the spit and everything. What were they talking about? Yeah, I don't know. It's not the same as the one I have at home, guys. That's good. That's really good and and speak down. That is unnecessary censorship. We are uncensored on crosstalk unhinged if you have not checked out the ESPN Chicago APP for the latest edition. Carmen and you're gonna Waddle and Sylvia crosstalk. It's back. It is uncensored. It is uncaught. It is commercial free, and it's exclusively available on the ESPN Chicago app. So make sure you go there and you download the app. If you haven't done it yet, and you listen to The crosstalk unhinged. People love it, and we will lot of conversation about, didn't we? We touched on attending sporting events the etiquette with regard To leaving when this is the right time to that's where I first brought it up, and the Merkin range ball discussion is on there and and some sports in their, uh more some more dinners, conversation. I believe away just so everybody knows. Merkin has returned the range balls that were left in his bag to the range today. Meaning he went to the range and actually was hitting the balls that he'd taken from the range previously, so he gave them back by hitting to a different range, though no? Yes, or was it the same range? Is he like my guess is it's the same range it looked like he had some yellow balls and some white balls. And he dropped them off at at a rain. Yeah, I think he was trying to actually show everybody that his process is actually not that bad. Okay? Yeah, I don't believe it. Because what did he bring an extra bottle to replace the one that he hit into the water that I don't know. I'm not sure about that. All right. So let me play this from Benetti and then Len KASPER is going to join us at 5 30. This was yesterday. I'm and and like you said Waddle. Grand doll is sliding home. Yes. Where was he Tagged? You know they called him out. He looks safe. But can you can tell, really say he was saying there was talk that maybe the tag was made to his back foot? I didn't Tony was having none of that he was and I wasn't either. I just didn't know I couldn't tell whether or not his front foot ever. Actually touched the plate or it was hovering above the plate. That was my question. So at the end, man thinking probably not going to overturn this because it's inconclusive. Right? So, um They then rule against what the broadcast thinks is going to happen. They think it's going to be reversed Grand all scores big game at this point important time in this game, But Benetti is point isn't necessarily that They called him out. But he wants an explanation. Take a listen to some things from NBC Sports Chicago. This is one of those. There are enough angles.

"Len KASPER is going to join us at 5 30 your thoughts on this and again. This is just 10 days after Tony LaRussa forgot the rule, let's in two weeks ago of the 10th inning, and when you can run, Ah guy who made it out when the picture is taking that last out position place, And instead he and his closer running the bases, and he was worried about his safety to begin with, And he didn't know the rule. He had faulty strict strategy during that game, too. With with the way with Billy Hamilton on day elected to steal like there, There's so many things that we could Nick Williams batting fifth instead of Mercedes, and then you d F a hymn that Foster on the on the mound. I think it was in Seattle not challenging in time. How many weeks are we going to continue to talk? About not having the right connection with the manager. How many We would do. We would be killing Rick Regnery. A. We would be killing Joe Maddon. We would be killing Jim Boylan. We would be killing Matt. Meggie. We have killed Matt Naggy. And you know what? They understand why I would like to hear from some of the players. Hopefully, we'll get some responses from them to see how they feel about what has transpired and we'll see if passing can remember. Radio voice len kasper on the show as we are few weeks into the baseball season getting closer and closer to the month of may lend. What's going on how of the first three plus weeks of the season gone for you guys pretty pretty. Well chris. thanks for having me on. it's It's it's been an interesting start for this team to say the least Kinda bullpens struggled early. They're kind of getting it together. Now offense if you look up and down the lineup some guys would track records have really not gotten at going but collectively. It's been pretty good. And then the starting pitching is really activity disclosed and being able to call a no hitter. Carlos roa down a couple of weeks ago is was exciting and Fans in the stands. I think is the big takeaway chris. I i think every broadcaster baseball would tell you that they're essential to the experience and while we had to do it without fans last year. I don't think i'd prefer to ever do it again. That way because it just it adds so much energy and he just. It's not only reactions. It's it's anticipation right. And i think the fake crowd last year you got the reaction noise. But you didn't get the the anticipation. And i think that's been a huge huge lift for everybody in the game. Yeah i think you're right there. That's one thing that You know as good as the in game presentation is that's one thing that you can't replicate right like kind of who the collective breath in as a line drive is headed towards right-center or breaking ball drops out of the zone. One thing that will never be able to replicate without the fans. No that's right and again there's just just so hard I think when you have the the canned version of its For to sound real now again. I think they've done a pretty good job in all sports trying to just you know. Add some ambience but Having the real thing is is awesome ants. You know we're starting to increase capacity here and knock on wood. That'll continue But you know you put eight to ten thousand people. Even socially distanced in an open air ballpark and they can make some noise. And we've heard it every time you're mean mercedes cubs to the plate seems to do something pretty spectacular There've been a few goosebumps moments already and That's interesting and i take down the road. We'll look back and you'll see a number eight thousand two hundred fifteen and you'll say gosh it felt like to sell out so You know as it increases the ten twelve fifteen twenty thousand. I think it'll be even Even better you mentioned no hitters at the fifth. No hitter that that you've called one it is number five year In all have kind of an interesting twist. I guess i called the bronco neutral site. No hitter that was the first in major league history. An eight that was against houston in milwaukee due to the hurricane i called z. Is technically a cubs. Home game right. It was an astros home game. Technically because the series was to be played useful was yeah but the cubs fans in the stands. I remember that and remember that vividly watching that game and just all of the different circumstances rolled up into that one. I'll i'll i'll never forget. That was for a lot of reasons. I think and then the cherry on top best outings umbrellas career that that was for lots of reasons. Just i think an incredibly memorable game for fans forever. Yeah no no doubt. And it was the first cubs no hitter since seventy twos so he. It had been a while And then the area at a number two no hitter on the first one. I didn't call. It was the sunday night game in la because it was a an espn game. But i was in the dugout and i interviewed area. And miguel montero together Right after the game so that was that was pretty cool but the second area no hitter i think is still the biggest blow out. It was like. I think it was sixteen. Nothing biggest blowout in a no hitter Then i called cole. Hamels no hitter wrigley. It was his final start as a philly of the next day. I think he got traded to texas That was the first. Oh hitter at wrigley. Seventy two and then Yeah alec mills Last year we call that remotely from chicago. That was in milwaukee and you know. He was a college walk-on and pretty neat story. And then the rodin knows it herself. And i carlos you know there's always going to be a question about it was also close to perfection. You know the one out in the ninety roberto perez on a foot but a no hitter has nothing to sneeze at but it would have been cooled if he had been able to just two more guys for perfect game. Yeah maybe we need a name for or maybe there is something That is a no hit. No walk game or there's an air as a blemish remember shelby miller with the cardinals and twenty thirteen. I think walked or hit eric. Young junior the first batter the game against colorado then went twenty seven. Twenty seven down have called that a hidden perfect game. Yeah and you're right. There are different You know it's kinda like the hall of fame there. There are tears of hall of famers. Once you become a member of the club your immortalized forever. But they're still there's a. There's a small group that kind of stands above everybody else right and i think with no hitters even and You know. aj burnett walked nine in a no hitter in two thousand one markets and no.

milwaukee Last year chicago aj burnett Sean eight thousand last year two thousand fifth Carlos eight colorado april Twenty seven may miguel montero ten twelve fifteen twenty thou two more guys roberto perez today

"Both like you said, Think about weird. Tyler Chatwood got 13 million last year to pitch for the Cubs. All right. Think about Tyler Chatwood. Three years here. 13 million. You could add area and last year for much less than that, for the third, much less than 13 million. Thing about that you could end up probably both for under 10 million But They don't want to. They made a decision not based on what they thought that Lester could give them. But based on some of the financial constraints they thought they had they couldn't give him the comparable deal that the nationals gave him. But then they found a little bit of idea. Yeah, it's confusing. I'm telling you as a Cubs fan, it's the most confusing season in a long, long time. If you want to weigh in 3123323776 plenty of socks talk coming up. That will be one of the top stories and there's some other really good stories with some of the pictures and how they'll sort out in the sacks. "I'm Fred before we get back to baseball Blackhawks retweeted here and it looks like Reese Johnson. Matthew Highmore will get into line up liking and is the starting goalie tonight, So they're playing. Okay, Promise to take it on Columbus. Six o'clock need to be done fun need to beat them. Yeah, I need to get a win. They've lost three in a roll. One promise that goalie player from one from overtime and cane's got Kane's gotta Beria the puck and he had a couple opportunities the other day. He had 10 shots six on goal. You know, it's one of those things where you know it's just bad luck luck. Eddie would call it and at some point that's going to change. But imagine now. You know, we thought maybe things would be much worse. At least I did. We didn't know coming into the season with the goalie situation would look like and then all the sudden, you know we're playing. Okay, We're missing some key key parts, so hopefully we'll get to bring it back and the people there in cane's going to start scoring, and then we may be awesome. No, no other team in the NHL has is without their to their to frontline centers. Exactly. There's no tapes. No doctor. It's tough to win games. Right now. The Hawks are finding that Out. Let's go. Woodridge and Bill. Hey, Bill, what's going on? Maybe you're in for sports phone. How are you guys doing? Well, Bill, I knew it was you What's happening? Does three things and I'll make him quick. A lot of snow out here in Woodridge. I got to tell you, but you probably know that study anyway. Um, first thing is, I did not know the word on the street was the Jon Lester would have played for just about anything to remain in Chicago. I think that's really bad. I think he was done wrong. Um, he was a good egg. And why would you be probably got one more year? Maybe two. Is that? Why would you? Why would you gotta kick a guy to Washington Anyway? That's just my opinion. I didn't know it. Second thing is on the upside. I was thrilled to hear that the Cubs picked up John Peterson. Yeah. Yeah, we'll never when Jack came up with the Dodgers and hey, have Ah, Hi. Ah Hye bar to climb, so I haven't really followed him as of late, but hopefully they're giving him seven mills for one year. I think so. So hopefully that's gonna work out well, and the third thing is I am thrilled the White Sox come in the ESPN 1000. That's That's huge because I think the White Sox are on the are around the verge on the cusp of getting to the the next level time. Yeah, It's really good timing, and I think around thrilled that Len KASPER is coming along because it is my opinion, but I think he I think personally, he is the best play by play Man in MLB right now. He's no, that's saying a lot. Bill. I appreciate the call is always love talking with you. Yeah. The Len KASPER Edition was awesome. It surprised most almost everybody here at the station. Um, because, you know, a lot of that was You know one Casper talking to the White Sox and the White Sox, letting us know that Len KASPER is coming over and as real Lisa's far as I know, Okay and having the White Sox here is great evidence. White Sox fan since birth pretty much and nice to have them here. I was not here when they want in 2005. Um And so, but it's great to have the White Sox here We could hear White Sox weekly every Saturday right now. Nine o'clock with counteract 90 B, a two hour show once the season gets underway. As for Jack Peterson, Theo only problem with him is He doesn't get on base a lot. He's a home runner. Nothing guy as far as I'm concerned, um, in seven years with the Dodgers, he had 2 30. His on base was 3 36. He racked up 25, or more homers and four seasons. Out of the seven. But this past year 1 90 to 85 3 97. So his his batting averages on basis slugging. He had seven homers and 43 games. He did have a really nice Um, postseason a couple years ago. Hey, does God have world serious ring as he wins with the Dodgers? So he comes in here, He's gonna get some playing time. Apparently, the White Sox offered more. They offered 10 million For one year, but they couldn't guarantee him playing time. And apparently maybe he miscalculated the market and he heads up, citing for three million less with the Cubs. I don't get playing time. Yeah. I'm wondering, Would Schwarber have taken less than he got to stay with the cops? Yeah. I don't know that answer with the whole arbitration stuff. He would have been in arbitration arbitration for him. Yes, it was a six or seven. Yeah, something like that, so he probably would have had less. But you know, that's again. He's one of the few guys who, actually out shot is whatever his number as in free agency, right, so he actually made a little bit more. So he got 10 million for the one year so Yeah. You should be writing about this with Jack Peterson. Yeah, I was too what he signed with Chicago. I figure was gonna side with white socks because recount apparently liked him a lot. And like I said, when I heard from some one of the reporters out, Los Angeles is at the White Sox made a better offer. And he decided to go somewhere. We have more playing time He frustrated me about three years ago. People wanted him. He had a really good year with the Dodgers that is following year. Not good. Never never got it with a high average. Um,.

"Indiana Sports stuck. I'm running King Glad to welcome on a great friend from baseball senior writer from the Athletic Chicago covering the Chicago Cubs. His Patrick Mooney. Hey, Patrick. What's going on? Not much. Good to hear from a man. Good to hear from you. Hey, I know the stove has not been very hot this offseason, but with the Darvish trade. It's getting going The Lindores stuff to the Mets. Do you think the whole indoor thing might get things started to roll a bit more? I'm not sure if it's Lynn door as much as teams waiting on clarity in terms of what the season's gonna look like, and I think the Mets have clearly been And out liar, in part because they have a new owner in Steve Colon. Um, you know, the the Cubs did this to kind of jump start their farm system and he had a gentle lawyer says they're going to be active in free agency, not at the top of the free agent market. But Feeling. You know several holes throughout this roster, so I think just everything's been kind of pushed back here that you know where you said around this time in December. You have the winter meetings and things heating up. I think everything's just pushed back. Weeks, if not months of people. Wait, wait for answers and kind of wait for direction. Where? Patrick Mooney, senior writer for the athletic, Chicago Hey, man, this talk about this summer and being at Wrigley covering these games, David Ross's first season. What was it like for you to be a reporter? Even cover? The cups are so long. It must have been just interesting every single day to show up to the yard. Well, it was definitely surreal. It was On some level nice to be able to go to work and Wrigley Field without anyone. There is actually pretty peaceful and soothing. And then you look to your left and there was kind of Ah Last divider between you and the person sitting next to in the press box and everyone's wearing masks. Everyone over Zoom, Um, for these group, things is Obviously sub optimal that you know it's Exponentially better to be able to go into the clubhouse and look someone in the eye and kind of observed, But I think everyone understood why we had to do these things and, you know, hopefully I don't think 2020 21 season will be normal, but hopefully we start inching our way in that direction. Well, it really hasn't been a normal offseason. In the sense, I guess, Patrick that Cubs fans, maybe since 0 2014 2015 have been used to a sense of just consistency and from a personnel perspective, But with everything changing since December with feel Len KASPER Yu Darvish, it's been a bit of an interesting I guess. Overhaul Kyle's former there. Wilson. Contrary to rumors, the Chris Brian trade rumors have been going on for years. So I will be very interested to see if Jed Hoyer pulled off another trade in that direction. Before players report to spring training, I think clearly Uh, if they don't do that, they'll be thinking about the trade deadline coming up this summer. Whenever that would be, uh, because clearly they're not going All in two in this year, and I think a real telltale sign will be how quickly and how aggressively they reinvest the money that they're saving from training. Darvish, San Diego to see kind of Um, you know how much they pour back into the major league team, And if they're able to kind of thread that needle, you know, which was a phrase that Theo Epstein used to repeatedly before. Hey, step down in November. What do you remember most about covering and talking to and getting the know Theo. Let's good question. I think they're amazing. The learned a lot from our conversations over the years and think of ah, very quick and sarcastic sense of humor that do not always match with kind of the persona. Was presented in Boston. I think if someone who could really see the entire field that when he would give an answer or think through a scenario, he could really kind of process. How that would be received, saying the manager's office in the dugout in the clubhouse in the media, you know in the bleachers, um and also Give me a lot of credit for being really available to the media, and, in essence being accountable to fans. I think it's really disappointing. When you look at other sports or other executives. You really kind of hide in their GM, sweet or up in their offices and feel for a future Hall of Famer was around a lot. On, Would you? No answer anything you ask, you wouldn't tell you everything. But hey, no doubt would kind of take the heat and try Todos elect some pressure off the rest of the club. You mentioned him being available. I remember when we were out at spring training together, and we did an interview and before the interview, you went up to Theo just a chat, and you know he's watching the guys stretching You guys spent 20 minutes just kind of going back and forth. I thought that was awesome. Because, like you said, you just don't really see things like that. But now as it transitions to Jed Hoyer, taking over Trades have been made. What do you buy into about the whole Contreras to Theeighties, Jal's or K B to the Mets talk. There's definitely something to the Angels and contrasts. Mike colleague Ken Rosenthal reported that and we're not exactly sure. How serious or how aggressive the Angels will ultimately be the really difficult to maybe kind of line up things here, but there's no doubt that Joe Maddon On Come of the coaches who fought him to Anaheim are big fans of Wilson Contreras. The Cubs are definitely in listening mode for all their players, Jed Hoyer said. I'm not in the business of talking about untouchables. I think Contreras is kind of unique among these players that are bandied about in trade rumors because He did have a good season. He has improved in his pitch framing,.

"I'm a for a lot of Cubs fans. It's been a very down off season. What are they doing with the roster doing back? Are they totally rebuilding just more than a retooling? Deal walks out the door. Len KASPER shocked us all. He's one of our teammates now, and he's going to be the voice of the White Sox. That absolutely shocked us when we got that new did, But when that door opened, you were the first person to suggest a name. Yes, I mean, and he's been a friend of the show for the last year or two, and he's so smart and I love a play by play voice whose opinionated as well And boobs. She Ami has done just great work on the network and as a teammate of ours on ESPN for many, many years, and you want a guy who just loves baseball on a guy who's funny and a guy who cares about the game and makes you smarter as a listener. And that's what boob does. And and I didn't know if Marky was ready to make a move like that. There were rumors going elsewhere, and I was so happy I was on the treadmill. Yesterday when Jesse texted you and I saying it was just in all caps. Boog exclamation point. I thought he was calling you a boob and just misspelled it. Or yes or you're talking about my boobs is they were flapping on the treadmill. But boob shandy is now the voice the cubs and it is great to hear. He joins us, Right, Alan, the Corona hotline boob. Congratulations, my friend. Thank you guys. I'm So funny. I feel like I've done so many so many appearances with y'all and now to come on. And in this, uh You know, in this moment to say that I'm the voice of the Cubs is crazy. It's really I'm so excited. I gotta tell you So, yeah, like, take us through that book. I mean, you've talked about the Cubs with us for the last few years. You've done a lot of Cubs games. I think you even did their wild card Syriza against the Marlins recently. Yeah, And and so you know, when sitting there a guy that you know in that chair me like, Did you ever dream that? Hey, that's a job one day. That I could see myself in. So that's sort of the funny part of it is that you know men's not just somebody I've known if he's one of my closest friends, so over the last 20 years You know, there's probably no one else that I've discussed broadcasting with more than Len and so When he started navigating. What his next step was going to be. Look. I like my gig at ESPN, so I wasn't really Looking, and I understood. The things that lead was trying to fulfill it. This point and, you know, radio wanted to call postseason games. Those are two things that I was fortunate that I have gotten a chance. Do so I got it, but because of how close I am with him. Was really more focused on helping him navigate. Okay, we can do you do this and just listening to, you know Okay? Yeah. This you'd be happy doing this, and I was really more focused on that. And I didn't. The time to like, sit with whether I would be a fit until I did And then when I did I know that it sounds weird, but it's just You know, for all the times I've been doing the job that I've been doing. It's one of my if not one of them, not my favorite stops, and I Yeah, once you once we started to talk, it just kind of watched over me. OK, this really seems like a phenomenal fifth and the guys from Marquis were awesome and the Cubs were were great and There. The whole thing is It's regarding ridiculous. It's like it wasn't as if I know that you asked the question that I dream about it. The answer is no. I mean it was Len's job, so it was just not something I was programmed to think about, and Dad. That was kind of all I've been thinking about it. I'm just I'm so excited. It Z. I don't.
