"We'll so matt remind US About Roy Holidays career before he joined the Phillies Roy. Halladay was probably the best if not one of the best pitchers of his generation and the Blue Jays win. They're dating much emotion as we've ever seen him but he was overlooked because he was in Toronto with the Blue Jays and he didn't get a lot of notoriety despite putting up tremendous stats despite winning. Cy Young Awards Roy. Halladay has one hit. The Yankees just witnessed one of the fun is performances of his career. It always fascinated me how he wasn't really talked about as often as he should have been. I mean this guy was really the last sort of type of his kind. I mean you don't see pitchers complete games anymore. Roy Halladay made it a point to complete as many games as he could and really we. We won't ever see a picture like that again. I don't think and what kind of reception did Roy. Halladay have upon arriving in Philly. I mean it was crazy and the camera and the media. They were everywhere. Recording with this guy was doing his first couple of days affiliate uniform now this guy I mean. The phillies really hadn't seen a picture of his tight for a long long time. I mean they're famous for having one of the greatest lefties of all time Steve Carlton they had curt Schilling in his prime in the nineties. But Really Roy Halladay was unlike any pitcher the phillies that required he was in as in his prime and there was just this incredible amount of excitement around him joining the phillies because they had been trying for so long to acquire and they finally got him what the State of the Phillies at this point in two thousand ten when they add this as to their staff I mean the phillies are coming off back to back. World Series appearances. They've never been more popular in the city than they were at that time at the beginning of the twenty ten season. I mean they have popular players like Chase Leeann Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins and they add Roy Halladay to that mix and you know really the expectations were to to be in another world series and Roy. Halladay was given the ball on opening day and he was there to really set the pace for this team. We'll so matt take back to May Twenty ninth twenty ten set. The scene for US Live Stadium here. Miami Florida Josh Johnson. In the Florida Marlins of just taking the field as the phillies are preparing for well. The first thing I remember is that it was game one of the Stanley Cup finals. And the only reason I remember that is because the flyers were playing the blackhawks. And it's a Saturday night. You know it's late. May it wasn't really a great atmosphere. I mean there weren't a lot of fans there two of this series but also game five of this road trip. Let's take a look at Charlie manual. Starting Lot of brought to you by Xfinity. There really wasn't a lot of attention. I don't think in Philadelphia for this phillies game. Well and how did HALLADAY START THE GAME? Was He hot right out of the gate. He wasn't I mean. The first inning might have been one of his stress strenuous innings behind three and two. I mean it wasn't necessarily his best command. But he made the pitches really when he had to the outside Corner Call Strike. I think knew what he was. Just hoping that the fire Mike to Mural. Give him a pass. There's obviously this whole baseball etiquette of not talking about a perfect game while it's going on but to you in your head at least. When did you first start to think? And he could. He could really do this. I think it was around the sixth inning and it was a ball was hitting the whole. So you have Wilson bowed has. Who's just this bench player career bench guy and he has to make a really challenging play to his right and it's challenging because Cameron may is the one you hit. And he's probably the fastest guy in the Marlins at the time shortstop which could be a maven speed deaths. Hurries time to get six three on the put out to but that stuck in my head and just like you just kinda sort of started feeling like this guy might do this thing. What's that moment like? When halladay finally gets the twenty-seven everybody on their feet nowadays is not an amazing play. It really isn't. It is a good play made by Juan. Castro is the third baseman. Who's filling in and the ball? If by Ronny Paulino. Who's a backup catcher? He's pinch hitting and he's not very fast. So this ball takes a hop on the dirt and he does this little turn rose and he gets Paulino by considerable man. It was not a close play at first base toward third. Castro has spins fires the second perfect Game Philadelphia Street. He faces twenty seven. He retires. It was just a perfect play and really was. I hate to use that word. Because it's it's it might be cliche but it just really was. There's something about that played. It is so indelible in everyone's minds Roy twenty seven batters twenty-seven out tell us a little bit about it to say You know we felt like we grew early and about fifth or sixth. I was just following. I can't say enough about so matt. You and our colleague Meghan Montemurro wrote about the unique way that Roy halladay celebrated his achievement afterward. Tell us about that soon. After halladay pitched a perfect game. He wanted to find a way to you. Know thank his teammates and thank people around the phillies and this is not unusual. I mean we've seen guys in the past give out a ring or by a watch or do something special take take guys out for a really nice dinner. But in how his mind he he thought that this transcended that he thought that there were more people to thank than just the people who were on the field within that night. He thought he should thank everybody. Wanted to buy these luxury watches. He's bomb and mercy watches. They were you know a couple of grand apiece and everyone meant the clubhouse staff the video guys the trainers the front office. The doctor the bat boy his family his agent the scout who signed him sports psychologists who helped guide his career. He ended up getting sixty seven of these watches. And not only did he get these watches. He had them personalized with each person's name on the back of the face with the line score from this game. He designed a box that they came in and there is an engraving in the front and it says we do together. Thanks Roy Halladay Royston. I pitched a perfect game. We did it together for some guys. Like rich. Do is pitching coach and someone who was extremely close to him. He wants to wear the watch the watch almost every day and anywheres it because he wants to be reminded of the person that Roy. Halladay was selflessness. That you talk about reality know wasn't he deflected everything the attention of attention that he got any of just all.

I don't think she remembers that she added me on this particular page, there are no pictures of her self or her face in her real name isn't on it. She posts random pictures with the wildest captions. Maybe are not wrapped around spend money on things that really if you can't afford. I could see if you could afford it. Or maybe if her dad is paying for her parents, then it's probably not that stressful. We should drop that in culture that her parents have to pay for the wedding. Did unfair thing. What if that family doesn't have money? They feel the pressure right? No. I agree. It is it can't be weird. But if parents have the money, then you know, but most people don't have the money as my point is throw it. Most people don't have the expendable income just go, you know, what I gotta wedding been saving up. I wonder if that's like right now, we don't think about our daughter getting married one day, and we're not already saving for that already saving for college for them and stuff, but not hopefully by then you don't have to do that. Now, her wedding Bobby will become president outlaw. And I'll say, no more. This release shifted these money rolls. Grammys this weekend best country album. Here are your albums up for it here. Let's do brothers Osborne. They have port Saint Joe up. Asked him bride has girl going nowhere. Casey must has golden hour space cowboy. Christina Bilton from a room volume two. Kelsey Ballerini has unapologetically. There you go. Here's this. The grammy's. Pick anything's gonna win the album of the year. Oh, man. That's so hard. It's gonna come down to Stapleton, Casey. Right. Because the the coal call people vote for the Grammy's. Yeah. And also probably the best to record the brothers Osborne. Me personally, the two of us to the most are Casey brothers on born. But, you know, everybody likes to for stable, and 'cause he's awesome. So you're saying, you know, no. Of course, not. Yourself. Dream. What was your dream? My dream was the same thing. That's always been the Casey record. Listen to dream. By the way, I'm not Johnny-come-latelies to this earlier. Like favorite record record record. She's poised to have a huge Grammy's. And if she dies, I think, it changes everything for her with the traditional country music community who hasn't totally embraced her dumbly. Because if she does the almost undeniable what people that are going. They don't do like you go. So if she does have a big Grammy's, I can see that that shifting. Hopefully, it does. I think Casey wins it. I think Chris close one though. Amy. Go ahead. I'll go brothers loss more because TJ's your neighbor. That is great. He wants to your house. He is great. Box August Abelson. All right. I think since Casey's performing she wins. It I feel like it's a like a little combo. You know, that's not always the case. I know one of the most legendary stories is when how do I live when it was cut by leeann Ryan interests year would write and Tricia record. How do I live for country? "I know I go back. everybody. Thanks for hanging out with us. We are in sunny, Los Angeles. We don't wanna make anyone jealous, but it is seventy five and sunny, and I know. I don't know why it feels so delicious to be gone when it's so cold. I think your question. Delicious. Thing about it is all the greenery. I mean, everything grows year round here. So it's just so I went on a walk this money rounder. Yeah. Yummy, lovely. So anyhow, okay. So yes this morning. We woke up to the news that the Vanity Fair. The Hollywood issue which every year is their March issues. The cover was released this morning. We did post a copy for you. And I have to say, I was absolutely delighted this is the issue. That's always a unit devoted to the bright things of Hollywood who's hot right now last year Oprah like had to hand someone else said to me that was great. Last year. There are no Photoshop areas that I can see. But it is the most diverse group they've ever had cover the gal who plays the Maguy elites from Roma. She's on the cover Regina, king, Chadwick, bozeman rhyming. Malik Henry Golding from crazy rich, Asians, which we will be seeing them this weekend. Search Ronin Timothy Shamali, John David Washington, Tessa Thompson and Elizabeth Becky, and then why nNcholas Holt who's been around forever. Well, he's in the favourite. But I was like somebody else could have been in that spot like lady Gaga. Well, that's that's what I thought. I that was my media thing because they're talking about new Hollywood in Birmingham Mallorca's, you know, these people have been around, but it was kind of the bright stars rate now. But anyway, that was my only thing was Timothy Holt was only one. Yeah. Nicolas Hoult, rather. Yeah, he didn't really need to be on the maybe you already have this information guys. But it's the the issues the twenty five year history of the magazine. It's the first time the majority of the feature stars are actors of color. No. It was just it was like it was like Yay. I'm shocked that it was so diverse because usually it's not did not seem to be any extra hands ties legs. And ladies are couple Regina king and Tessa Thompson in the red dresses were dying. It's so good. So thank you for that. Donnie, sure, so many shades of beauty in that shot. Okay. So Marcia gay harden, I told last weekend? Yes. When I was staging for this trip packing that I stayed in my girl cave, and we don't even know why she stages so much because we don't know what you back but yet. Organiz? I always forget what I pack. But anyway, I sat and was in a lifetime fever dream. And I watch Robert low in the bad seed lifetime network. Yes. And and then I kept seeing ads in like why is Marcia gay harden Oscar-winner? She's in the lifetime movie. But yeah, I can't I mean look at all the success you had over a net flicks. And that was a lifetime option. So Marcia gay harden is in this movie called till death. Do us part. Ludwig love you to death. And I kept seeing the trailers for it. And it looked so compelling. It's this woman who's got you know, she's like Munchhausen's. Yes. She doesn't really explain it. It's Munchausen by proxy poxy where she's literally since her daughter was born has been making her sick. Right. So she gets attention for herself. That's right. And she's a big issues wearing a fat suit in the thing. And I'm just I can't even believe it smart. And I'm then I'm like, okay. I got a DVR day because then I ended up watching another lifetime movie after the bad seed that I just needed some popcorn. Should it's kind of interesting because the first time, you know, she gonna tell us the story down at all. Yeah. The first one is the issue talks about the movie is based on real events. And what it was like getting into this thing. I was I was surprised about in the third hour the today show because then she also talked about her apple TV project with Reese Witherspoon. And Jennifer Aniston, but what they didn't ask her was. Okay. You know, all these new ways of being on television. They didn't you know, be non lifetime being an apple TV. And I just kinda thought that that's the question. I wanted wanted to know is it because you have more options or why why the, you know, you don't usually see Oscar winners doing lifetime movie. That is where the girl Hussein blue met, Eddie Scipion. What they run a lifetime movie. All leeann Ryan is not the same as much harden. I'm kind of a disconnect back to know lot relationships have started on movie sets swear, we're now you're talking about. And that is where the gal who's dad star Aaron spelling center matter dean, her husband to. Yes, again that is happening. Why don't we listen to that? Yeah. Marcia gay harden? Love you to death is actually inspired by real life store has to be a story. This crazy can only be a real life and the daughter is in prison right now. Because as we know from the movie this terrible story of the Munchausen disease bomb Habur, she kept her daughter sick her entire life and convinced her she was sick ended up in a murder. I keep getting into that role the emotions going through your mind to just really capture was has a mother either washing your show this warning. You're talking about the nurturing another mother, you just interviewed another nurturing mother, and the love of mother, and this case this woman that I played with such her behavior was so monstrous, but you can't play a monster. You have to play a real human being capable of monstrous behavior and everybody thought that she was the most loving person in the world until they discovered the daughter who they thought had been kidnapped in a wheelchair bound and the daughter is walking around perfectly fine. So I had to just sort of understand the physique was really important to me the transformation was really important to me and trying to find what love the mother had. I mean, I hate to call it love was keeping her prisoner. And she's like Patricia Arquette like Tilly and escape at Dan Amora. She's completely ten. This is on lifetime in such monitors tomorrow night Saturday, it reminded me of Patricia Clarkson and sharp objects because she was she we had that with her daughters. Yes. In one of them had had passed. Yes. And they all kind of. Yeah. Yeah. She does that to her. It's very wild. I mean, a half the TV or I kept I kept wanting them to, you know, say, but I don't know why you're so obsessed that that is not a it's very unusual. That's all I'm saying. They did you think everybody's trying to figure out how to make things work out. Yeah. I know, but it's like seen Halle Berry in a lifetime movies. She is not far away. She's not getting the Hollywood roles. I'd I don't progress because they love lifetime. But I just think I wish they would ask you that. So she could have said lifetime is making a lot of good movies right now on their with money, Marcia. Why did you decide to do movie? Unlike time, well, you're not you're winner. What they gave me the opportunity. And I needed money. Under new.

It's really good because it's like the love boat. Yeah. If anybody remembers the love boat every episode with a new crew of people coming onto the boat. So what happens is you're just following the life of these kids young people young adults working in yachting, not the yachting that Colleen and Bradley talk about okay like an actually yacht. They have a job there is a captain and they live on below the dad. Yeah. And take care of you know, these these people who charter this. Yeah. How? And then at the end, it's exciting to see how much of a tip. They're gonna get twenty thousand dollars. Yeah. Charter a hot. I don't can't even afford the. So it's just really fun because it's also about the relationships of the people working kind like Vander pump rules. It's very much like that. Yeah. These people who work together and who's? Vander paroles, you think, oh, it's totally did, you know, I I did at once he told me a few weeks ago you've been really holding out on us. So Steve shayna, right? Yeah. Shayna went to school together college together. And how those two turned out from that like conservative Christian university. You've got one Steve Patterson, and then you have one shayna who very different slept with Eddie Cebrian when he was still married to landfill. So that was murder the drama of one of the earlier seasons, but who did not sleep with. I mean, honestly, not good. And he and leeann rhymes are still two other together. Can you believe that they're kind of both equally like a little off the rocker? She monitors his every move. I guarantee it I think she should I would not want to be in a relationship where I had to I wouldn't either. But I think but she kinda she knew she cheated on. Very long time coming because first of all I had to try and get all these people to sign up to be involved, and then actually turned up, and it was immediately amazing. This is Rachel Williams. A guardian journalist who's managed to organize. This extraordinary meeting between mothra David leeann Ryan, and Ben and Steve all had an operation on September thirteenth twenty seventeen. People really seem to just just chatting Tim O needed them to stop. So I could introduce someone else. It was too much at once basically said did you have to kind of run around to be like, hey, this is David. He's got one of your over little bit came in Royan lay. They were they were there first and then Mathur and David from north London. Thank you say. This is math. Meeting Lee, he now has one of her kidneys. Martha immediately wanted to know that her kidneys have always worked. Well. My mother always I could we for Columbia because I was always way all the time. I kick this work since I was a child more than I thought. Well, it still working. PTA's really quite taken aback by it. Yeah. I can take understand what she was amazing. All her husband's illness has had a huge impact on base. It him nine years of the and then transplant and then with the prospect of Bialystok again, I couldn't think that we I personally could coke it more. What is this game? The UK living kidney sharing game makes it possible for people who who need a kidney transplant, and they have a living donor. He's prepared to give them a kidney. So somebody close to them like a partner or family member of friends. But then it turns out that those people aren't compatible. He needs to be compatible by blood and tissue type to exchange a kidney. But if that can't go ahead Easley, then as a pool of people here in a similar position will Pat. Go pat. And very sophisticated. Algorithm goes freedom and works out pets people who are compatible and put them into groups. So you might have agreed three pairs where you can rearrange the order of the past. So that everybody gets a kidney. But they're not getting it from the loved one who wants to give a kidney in the first pace to getting it from someone else's basically, and that all gang, compatible kidneys. Yeah. Kind of like I said if loss of aether. Everyone wins. Yeah. Kind of really good lottery.

"None of that's that's a rookie of the year. Ogm little big leagues is grandpa owns the twins. He passes away. He gives his grandson is like twelve years old the twins and the kid points of self the manager of the team. Yes. Anyway, the broadcast in that movie did things like it's dumb stuff. Like. Yeah. This guy in the third week of April on Tuesdays. On odd years hits three seventy five that reminded me of RJ. They're dropping like it's like it's like, Mike Angelina. Yeah. Kinda Mike Lennon the big daddy grants producer, you guys listening. Now, probably listen later night to he's like that. He just has offhand numbers and just games remembers that and I think sometimes I remember a lot. And then I talked to Mike for five minutes. I'm like, oh, I don't remember anything that happened. Eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four pound nine four nine four. Verizon wireless, cell phones. Jeremy's downingtown. He's talking to Phyllis. What's up, Jeremy? Jeremy? Jeremy goes back on hold and matzo Ryan in south Philly talk about what he wants in an athlete here in Philadelphia. What's up, Brian? I just wanted to know. I know you're looking for athletes that just wants to win and a lot of college have been calling and talking about, you know, they also want hustle. What championship or go athlete just wanted to win didn't have the hustle sports that. Can you think of the didn't hustle here? My point isn't that? I don't want a guy to ever hustle. I just think we overrate the idea of of the half the hustle every time and that it makes that much of a difference. If you don't. Those guys that actually make a team a championship team. Tom Brady's Joe Montana. The Jerry Rice is Michael Jordan's all those guys also put in the time and effort which built that team. The morale around the team and expectations and held them accountable to that type of style play bachelor, we need we need somebody that comes in here. And does that for a team? Yeah. I hear you. But I do think different sports is different. Ryan like the quarterback in the NFL is way different kind of leader than let's say the third baseman on a baseball team. Like Manny Machado is what he is. And he said, he's not Johnny hustle. His team got to the World Series. Like his team won the National League championship with him. Sure. Okay. Well, then go back to the Orioles like before they got bad this past season for five years. They had more wins the American League than any team. He was the best player on their team. I'm not saying. Oh, I'm saying I think overall about the. Hold on. Accountable and used by the way and longevity to win. I, but I think there's examples where it was like was Jimmy Rollins always hustling. Yeah. Leeann Ryan Howard and call HAMAs, and they have a lot more talent on that team to make it without. Yeah. I understand. Put that same mentality and I'm talking about. Yup. Perfect world in a perfect world. I'd rather that. Yeah. I know you're in a perfect ROY the phone call a perfect world. I'd rather that I just don't pass players up because of of those kind of red flags like all the this is the way I look at it. When it comes to the Phillies or it comes to any team. We're talking about all of these moves are just their their bets. They're betting on people. They're betting on their betting on the future. So what am I betting on? Am I betting on Johnny hustle? My betting on talent. I'd rather bet on talent in in every almost every case every everything the Phillies or any of these teams do like let's go to the eagles. They bet on Carson Wentz. And they have a lot of reasons to bet on Carson Wentz. And I'm sure his personality, and we are all the stories that are in the small town where they went to go. Visit him in North Dakota. And he was so nice to everybody. And he was just smart guy on the chalkboard. But why did they bet on Carson Wentz beyond all of these things? They've been on Carson Wentz. 'cause he was six would five with a rocket for an arm and athletic. If he didn't check those not really, no, no. If he didn't. The first thing you bet on a guy that works as hard as Carson Wentz. Do you not evaluating prospects the tangible 's outweigh more than what is on the field? He was not a perfect quarterback prize. No, he wasn't six five with that arm. They wouldn't have they wouldn't have gone in North Dakota. That's my Baker Mayfield. Just got drafted number one overall. And that's an outlier. Isn't it? Well, I think I think what people are learning is that intangibles is becoming more important than total package, Josh Allens a total package too. Well, he can't throw it away wants to throw in just say no Baker Mayfield, though has incredible accuracy. He's at a different kind of trait. I just think the first trait that we should look for is the is the best player, and then you figure out the rest. Yeah. But I think when you're I think quarter quarterback for you got to be a leader of a team. And all that. Sure. That's why the third baseman baseball team is way different than the quarterback of a football team. I do agree on. You're never gonna wanna quarterback that doesn't give one hundred ten percent all the time that that's a tone setter for your football team. The baseball player in just the scope of baseball's a little different Nick in south jersey. What's up, Nick? No, no, no to Machado Machado. No. No. And I'll tell you why. And I agree with you on some of the points. You're making hostile is a little bit overrated and a third baseman or the baseball team is a lot different than a quarterback this guy steps all players foot on purpose twice in the playoffs. Tell me he did I played baseball for thirty years. I didn't stop guys for them. First base in thirty years. I'm gonna tell you that he didn't for the second one. I'm gonna tell you why the first one I do not doubt. He did what he did on purpose. The second one like he and Steve Pierce who was the first basement in the World Series for the Red Sox. And that play they're really really good friends. I forget which one but one of them was like their daughter was the flower, girl and the other one's wedding. I for no part of me believes he tried to step on Steve Pearce ankle what happened with Alar. I'm with you. That was that was predetermined. I think he did on purpose. So he's back bigger clots that he missed the bag by that. Well, I don't know what he is. I just I can't believe Steve Pearce said after the game that he there's no part of him that believes was on purpose. Like, they're good friends. I it doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah. I hear you. I hear what you're side. And then the other thing is his entire demeanor. It's not good. It's not good. I just fan. I don't wanna watch this. I'm going to have a big problem watching this as a fans that demeanor on the baseball. Yeah. Look your of your right to say that the Phillies listen as much as they pretend. They don't. And Nick, I appreciate it, man. They listen if enough people say, they don't want him. They're gonna have to pay attention mcclintock's said yesterday perception does matter reality matters more to me and players like this at this age. Do not come around very often with a bet on anyone like all these guys are risks every free agents risk every contracts the risk every trades risk. I'm going to bet on the one that's least risky, and I think twenty five year old superstars are less risky because you could sign them long term and they're going to age into their prime. Not they're not ready past their prime. This other stuff. It doesn't bother me as much. I don't like that. He stepped on accolades ankle, I think there is something that that bothered me, though, we did hear from earlier who said that might have been the only he might be the only guy in the team that would do that. And the first baseman would move his leg, and he was kind of trying to help us teammates out there. Maybe earn some respect of this club. I don't know. I'm not out there. I just know we all saw that wasn't quite pretty eight eight seventy nine nine ninety four ninety four pound nine four nine four on your ATS. And Verizon wireless cell phones. We'll come back your phone calls. What do you want? What do you want in your athlete? I just want to things I want you to be a good or great player town is the number one requisite for me. And the number two is I want you to put in the work and care about winning the other stuff the perception where you look if you have. If you have the kind of demeanor that bothers some people that doesn't bother me as much I was Bobby Bray you fan I was an Andre dollar fan because they were good players. The heart and hustle. Johnny hustle. Freddie galvez. We'll check the poll which I can't believe is where it is right now. I don't need that. I need players that could play eighty eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four that is. So you get aboard sports radio ninety four WIP sports radio ninety four WIP twenty twenty sports brought to by Marx jewelers on Tom Kelly. It is the eve of major league baseball is free agency. "On the infield Ramirez. Part of a remarkable double play on the bottom of the third. Here's a ball fastball. Mrs again, it is to me watching the replay. He got his feet sorta tangle maybe even tripped over the bag is he took the throw from Donaldson and went to make the throw to first he was the pivot man on the double play. Here's a pitch outside again three. And as he was falling down. I really don't know how he made an accurate throat first base. It's body was parallel to the ground and to be able to make a pro of that magnitude with that kind of lots day was impressive. Here's a fastball for a strike from coal. If the throw gets away from first base read it comes into score to vape presumably is gonna end up in scoring position. So you got the game tied and he got your best hitter coming up Alex bregman with a chance to put Houston ahead to that was a very big play by Ramirez Santa Cleveland defense. And now they need Ramirez to come through offensively. He and Lynn, nor the keys to this offense listener already home rain in the top of the third, but Ramirez is a guy despite the great year that he had only hit two three from August. Second on now. Big curveball interest strike, it's three to city. It's a win the series. They need their big boys there MVP marriage to come early. Three two. Pitch. Rivera's strikes out. Got a high fastball coal comes back after falling behind it. Three strikes out Ramirez who continues to be frustrated. In the postseason it in the second half of this twenty eighteen season one out nobody on for Granada Xiang and that was just pure power against power ninety eight mile hour fourteen thousand ball by coal and you'll get the five strikeouts. He's had so far in this one four of them are breaking balls. That's the first time is out of punch out on a fastball in this one. Years. A ball to end crunchy on Jose Ramirez has gone thirty seven playoff at bats. Now without an extra base. Hit guys an extra base hit machine. In the regular season. Here's the one. Oh and cross takes a strike one. And one can artsy. Own is hit thirty home runs. Seven in -secutive years. Five with Toronto to with the Cleveland Indians. During the two hundred runs at six of the seven years, and they only year he didn't he drove in ninety eight and a big run producer one of the best. D H is in the American League along with JD Martinez of the Red Sox and Nelson Cruz in the Seattle Mariners on one pitch curveball infrastructure too. Certainly cold on a very good job. Adding and subtracting though in the ninety eight then throwing the curb and throwing the slider different shapes different angles different velocities? Very good job of keeping indeed hitters off balance. One to pitch curb walkout him swinging dirt scooped up by mouth an auto puts tag on Granada's y'all to complete the put out to down and at now the six strikeout for Garrett Cole you're the fourth inning with the Indians ahead. One nothing. And Garrett Cole this year. Eight different starts double digit strikeouts. Eight different starts dominating. He's become. Think of all the great pitchers in the history of this Astros franchise from JR Richard and Nolan Ryan and Mike. Scott royals wall was here to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. They had Pettitte the Clements. Avert lander. Here's a ball. Low from coal. Colin Burland of this year five hundred sixty six strikeouts combined. The most by any combo in the history of the Astros, and that's saying a lot when you had Nolan. Ryan JR Richard here. Leeann Ryan and Mike Scott had the previous record most strikeouts by tandem in one year. Here's a swing by Donaldson at twenty one. Lot of star power. The history of this franchise. One is gonna amiss ninety nine mile hour fastball. One or two. Nice to see the star power still here with the actual deal being well taken care of by John. Jay leno. Jeff Bagwell, Craig busy. Oh, next royals wall. And ryan. Capelle all here yesterday and today one to pitches, low at one, oh one ramped up. That's funny about Garrett Cole. He's one of the hardest throwers in baseball. But he saves symbol for big spots that one he missed badly. Two. Kohl pitches curve ball and Donaldson just gets a piece of it topped. It foul. Josh Riddick the right fielder. Just before that pitch was thrown taking three or four steps. Do his left Donald's perfume vision was able to see that. He probably could have been able to guess the breaking ball was coming down the way. So one negative issue of doing last-second shifts on pitches is a lot of times you can give it away to the hitter. Toll takes little walk behind the bound just to gather himself. This fifty nine pitch here. The top of the fourth inning one nothing. The indians. Leave Donaldson at the plate to outs. Nobody on. And the two two from Garrett Cole is swung on strike three strikes outside his seven strikeout up the day already. Power pitching dominance from Garrett Cole here the fourth. We will go to the bottom of the fourth bregman. Correal Gonzalez coming up. It is one nothing Cleveland. This is the American League division series on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Presented by autozone. NPR's succeed. Milan's been worn out by.

"Mary. I actually watched that show where Reginald oh my God, that I was a little kid like that's how I knew it was about to go down because they'd watch putting on the heads and then we'd watch like facts lay and or maybe that was the Friday Saturday. There was a Saturday, everything. And then my dad would inevitably turn on National Geographic. My mom bitch and him about animals eating Jenner, which continues to this day, putting on it was it was like the mid eighties because I remember I remember let Richie and like. It was basically stuff that was. It was lip sync, battle for lip sync, battle thing. And yeah, that was a cow shows. Cheese, his fuck it was. My parents watch gong show. Yeah, the new, the, the nail. The new one. I remember aired the late eighty news, the ladies, and I think it was on where I was thinking almost every night and that's where I remember on the weekends. I think in lip or. When did you watch any star search search? Because that was a you wanna talk about stuff that like were American idol got its name from where it was these. My dad loves star. I will give crappy television. Yeah, I remember for a while watching. 'cause that was there was like this block of stuff, and it was either starters, soul train was the last show before they got to baseball game or the rest of the fan of movie or something. And star search would be on for about an hour and you'd have I vividly remember a lot of comics because I was by that point. I was feeling like, you know, I liked stand up comedy now. I don't remember Raver mono being on there. Although I've seen the clips. I remember Hella pound staff all Poundstone and I remember the guy beat out rid of Vermont who have this name, Kichi guy or something. Yeah, it was. It was just as one of which is the name. Remember, but then I remember some of the singer, the singers which will always sort of like torch song singing Broadway type of Laver member leeann Ryan's. Her whole thing was she was on star search, and that's how she got discovered, I think are might be complaining. But I do remember her being stars. Do you remember the supermodel the gap, our favorite part, yeah, we fashion east. I love the mon- apart with my favorite, yes. They, they would have those women competing for supermodel sort of thing. Almost Miss America like, yeah, they always had to do evening gown video on a swimsuit video and like a day dress. But in the eighties, it was all basically forward. Yeah, on dynasty. Those out there, they play that clip. And then of course you'd have three or four judges. The bit was ebbing may was hosting of these, like, you know, they tell you somebody three of your quarter stars person. You've four star. Yeah, I wanted to ensure that. Because it was probably the thing, at least that have all of these we'd probably watched. Yeah, least. And also you didn't have again, you didn't have cable, so you didn't watch the MTV stuff like you'll MTV rabs and that. And by the time we were ten or eleven, and I was starting to the cartoons are starting to wane the the music videos on a regular channel kind of gone fronted. I don't think it was much anymore of there was a video. There was a Saturday morning videos for a little while that was basically a recycle of that. I wrote a blog post last year about the countdown show from the very earliest hot. Those basically like die. It was almost like the dial TV show where the countdown of clips today this time. But yet I'm TV had become because by the time you hit about the late eighties and TV was part of the basic cable pack. Yeah, there's no need. Nobody was. Watching videos, anything other MTV and VH. Until I came along, but then you know, the six of them really was, but. Yes, sports though. Because if if a station was gonna make a decent amount of ratings into dictation, it was gonna have something to do with spies because sports like weekend, it's the easiest programming the weekend, even now if we were to turn on television.
