"Know, the Bank of England is predicting that we're going to have 13% inflation in October that they wanted something that matches the cost of living that their fears in. Tell us what kind of disruption this will cause. And which areas of the economy will be affected. Felix saw is the country's busiest port. It's kind of unclear as to just how much disruption this is going to cause. It's not a just in time port. There's a great deal of stock still left at the port. I think logistics UK, they're the transport body has said it's not expecting massive disruption. So there's not panic yet, but if the strikes continue after this, it did a period and that might change. It's just one of many strikes we've just had and strikes that are possibly coming up. And the country is facing energy price hikes plus a new prime minister in September. It does feel like the country is in for a difficult time, right? You often hear about a winter of discontent, but we're sort of in the middle of a summer of discontent as it stands. So you've got rail workers on strike, but you've got royal mail workers head to walk out, teachers potentially going on strikes straight, perhaps even nurses. For the new prime minister, this is a party leadership contest that has been played out with a very specific group of people at the moment. I don't know whether both of their tones may become more conciliatory when they take office. They both talked about the need for some peer strength because they're concerned that inflation busting pay rises might lead to the kind of wage price spiral that we saw in the 1970s, which is also a risk when you consider that the country is likely to enter a recession a recession which is three quarters long. It's a very difficult picture for whoever takes office. That's Rachel, we are mouth, deputy political editor of the new statesman. On the latest strike to hit the UK this summer. You're listening to NewsHour from the BBC. I'm Audrey Brown. President Gustavo Petro of Colombia has told the military to prepare to become an army of peace after removing a major obstacle to negotiations with the last act of guerrilla group, the ELN. Speaking at a cadet academy in front of newly appointed military leaders, mister Pedro said troops had to switch their focus to threats to national sovereignty from abroad, including from drug trafficking gangs. He said the Colombian people wanted to see a change in the role of the military. If we want peace, it will not come through unlawfulness or guns. What makes it possible to reach peace is unity between the military and its people. That's what we have to reach because it has been broken in many parts of the country. Joining us now is Megan Janet ski who's a freelance journalist based in Colombia. Welcome to NewsHour, Megan. Just tell us more about this announcement. How significant is it? Yeah, absolutely. So Gustavo Petro is Columbia's first leftist leader and also an ex insurgent who went through his own peace process a long time ago and basically this announcement could, you know, if Columbia and its biggest Korea group, the national Liberation Army, were to sign peace accords. It could be this new president's legacy. And in a country that's struggled with armed conflict for decades and is facing deepening conflict right now. It could shift a lot of the regional dynamics and lower violence in a lot of parts of the country that are being torn by currently. There have been numerous attempts at the peace deal with the ELN, so how confident are the people of Colombia that this time it will be successful. You know, will people are skeptical also because you have to remember that this is, again, a country torn by decades of conflict and a lot of people have been victimized by, if not this guy than other armed groups. So there's always a deep distrust of our groups. And then this piece talk looks to have a bit more potential than past conservative governments. Simply because a lot of these past governments have been a lot of about force against these gurias and fighting this war. And this is a president that is promising to usher in an era of quote unquote total peace. So it's generating more trust likely with these gurias that are going to be negotiating. So it could significantly shift shift things. Yeah, it's a big deal, I think. You've been on the border of Colombia and Venezuela where the alien have been active. So what are people there been telling you? Yeah, I mean, this is the place that essentially the hub for the ELN, the very, very important area in which they use to escape the grasp of Colombian authorities. And a lot of people have been terrorized by this group and they're just hoping that there's a ceasefire soon and that a peace pack is really signed because it could literally mean life or death for them and their families. Now that have been peace deals with other groups, how successful have they been, is there a blueprint that's being followed? Yes, I mean, there have been various negotiations. The most recent piece packed we've seen is with the Colombian guria group the farc in 2016. In largely due to failures in government implementation, it has been a very troubled process. And that's another reason why perhaps the ELN would walk with a bit more skepticism is Columbia has an entirely followed through with their promises, but because we again have this different kind of leader, there might be more of a generated trust that you wouldn't see otherwise. But previous previous accords have been a mix of success. But the most recent one is even struggling to move forward. It's actually a large campaign promise of petros is to implement the previous piece accords. So he's kind of juggling these two different deals with these groups. Thank you very much. That's Megan Janet ski, a freelance journalist based in Colombia. Now Singapore's prime minister said the country will end its ban on sex between men, but he also said it will take steps to defend the institution of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Lee San lung said Singapore society was becoming more accepting of gay people and the British colonial era law was now out of date. The legal ban on sex between men, while not enforced, has long been criticized by LGBT activists, although many more conservative citizens still support it. Joining us now from New York is Jane Barry Moran director of research and program strategy at out leadership. She's a leading voice in advocating for pathways to success for LGBT individuals in the workplace. Welcome

"Into the picture. A little ways away from where the shorts were found was a pelvis and a shoe. Inside the shoe was a foot. And shortly after this 33 scattered bones were also discovered. And DNA testing confirmed that these bones belonged to Chris and lissan. Now again there's something weird here. The foot found in the shoe still had skin on it. Like a normal foot. And there were multiple fractures throughout the foot. And the foot wasn't really that far into the decomposition process. And this was Lee sans foot. But when we look at the pelvic bone the spoon belonged to Chris the bone appeared to have been bleached. And not by the sun. I saw a comparison between Chris's bone and a sun bleached bone. And they are very different. The sun bleached one isn't all one color. It's kind of splotchy, just different colors. And Chris is is all one even color. I don't know how accurate it is, but I found that very, very interesting. I will post a photo on the Instagram because this photo was really hard to find and I want you all to see what I mean. Now, it's just so weird, how their bodies can be in such different states of decomposition. Like day and night differences. Granted they could have died at different times, but they were out there the same amount of time. They went out together and even if they died a day or two apart, the decomp wouldn't be that different. You know what I mean? This all again leads me in the direction of foul play. Especially the part with the bleached bones. Those clearly do not look sun bleached to me, and it's just very weird. And to top it all off, a Panamanian forensic anthropologist stated that after he examined the bones under magnification that there were no scratches or markings of any kind on the bones. There wasn't a single mark to be seen from animals or otherwise. Which is so wild to me. You would think after all that time out in the wilderness that an animal would have gotten to the bones at some point. But the fact that they didn't? Just brings me to some one having done this. Someone taking them,.

"These photos were taken in complete darkness with the flash on. Some of these photos were taken just seconds apart, and some up to 15 minutes apart. These pictures don't seem to be of anything in particular. We don't really know the method to this madness. But it is clear from the photos that the girls were near some sort of ravine, and you can see that it is raining in a lot of them. Some of the most widely talked about photos include one of a twig with little plastic bags on it, and it's on top of a rock. Another one shows what looks like a backpack strap and a mirror on another rock. And there's one it looks like down a ravine and a lot of people think that they see a body. It's very, very hard to pick out, but a lot of people think they see it and with enough convincing, I guess I can see it too. Another photo shows what appears to be the back of Chris's head? This has been assumed based on hair color as Chris had strawberry blond hair and Lee San had dark brown hair. Some people think that the girls were trying to light their way through the wilderness with the cameras flash. And others think that they were trying to draw attention from someone nearby. I mentioned that one of the photos was of the back of Chris's head. You can find this photo and all of the other ones on the Internet. These photos have been very heavily analyzed. Now I am not telling you what to do, but if you can or you want to, I really think you should look up this photo while I'm talking about it. So you can see what I mean and you can have a visual. Because like damn, this is weird. So if you just type into your Google, Chris kremer's hair photo, it's Chris with a K, kremer's with a K, one M so if you have it pulled up and you're looking at the photo..

"At one 37 p.m., another signal check. And this is the first time that there would be an incorrect pin, entered into the phone to try and unlock it. April 6th ten 26 a.m. a signal check from Chris's phone and an incorrect pin? One 37 p.m.? Same thing, another signal check and another incorrect pin. Then there's nothing further from the phones until April 11th. This day, at ten 51 a.m. there is another signal check from Chris's phone and again. Another incorrect pin. Then add 1156 a.m. the phone was turned off. From here there was no further activity and the battery was left at 22%. It is worth mentioning that none of these calls ever made it through as far as I can tell. They're just wasn't enough reception. Hence all of the checks for signal. I did see in some sources that one of the calls did connect. But it was only for a second and nothing came of it. I am not sure if this is concrete info or not, but it is out there. So we have a lot of calls made to emergency services. Clearly they needed help and very soon after going out, did they need it? The calls span over days, and then the remainder of the phone usage was searching for signal. The weird thing is that Chris's phone recorded an incorrect pin being entered starting the 5th. This was the day after Lee sans phone died. Many people believe at this point that Chris was either incapacitated, unconscious or dead. Because if Chris was using her phone, she would enter the right password. So many people believe that Lee San was attempting to enter the password on Chris's phone, but just didn't know it. Another theory regarding this incorrect password is that someone else was trying to get into the phone. Because ultimately, we don't know if they were alone this whole time or if they were with somebody or what have you. There's a lot of theories about this case, and Reddit is teeming with thoughts and ideas and rabbit holes..

"And that same day locals and authorities began searching for the girls via ground search and aerial search, which heck yeah, they acted really, really quickly in this case. I feel like you don't see that a lot. So high 5 on that one. Searches continued and on April 6th, the girl's parents made their way to Panama, with police from the Netherlands as well as canine units and detectives. And this would be the start of a ten day long search to find Chris and lisanne. They searched and searched for a sign that the girls were nearby, but they found nothing. And we're talking a very extensive search. The parents of Chris and the sand even offered a $30,000 reward for any information that could lead to their daughters. But still. There was not a trace of them. Now we will fast forward to June 14th, 2014. It is ten weeks later and something is finally discovered. A blue backpack found by a river bank, near alto Romero. Alto Romero is about 8 to 12 hours of a walk from the summit where lissan and Chris were. A local woman found the pack while working out in her rice paddies and she turned it into the authorities. The woman stated very clearly that this pack had not been out there the day before when she was at working. And she would have seen this without a doubt. So it had to have just gotten there overnight. After inspection, the backpack was very quickly identified, as belonging to Lisa. When investigators examined the contents of the backpack, they found two pairs of sunglasses, $83 in cash, Lee sans passport, a water bottle, Lee sans camera, two bras slash swimsuit tops, and Chris and Lee sans phones. This discovery is big and that's all well and fine, but there was something weird here..

"So today I have got an interesting one for you. It seems pretty cut and dry when you first look at it, but when you dig a little deeper and really organize some of the details, it starts to get pretty wild. And a little confusing. And this case isn't just about one person. We've got two today. So let us get into the case of the missing Panama tourists. AKA the missing Panama hikers, AKA the lost girls of Panama, AKA Chris kremer's and lisan Froome. So you know what time it is. It is backstory time. So we have Chris kremer's. She was born August 9th, 1992. Her parents are Rolly grit, and Hans kremer's. Chris grew up in Amherst fort, Netherlands, and was described by those around her as a very open and creative person. People around her also noted how responsible and mature she was. And at the time of the story, Chris is 21 years old and was studying at the university of Utrecht. She was studying cultural social education, specifically in art education. And now we have Lee San Fran. She was born September 24th, 1991 to parents din and Peter Froome. Like Chris, she also grew up in Amherst for in the Netherlands. At the time of the story, Lee San had just graduated from deventer, with a degree in applied psychology. Lisan also loved to play volleyball and was described by friends and family as super optimistic, aspiring, intelligent and just so passionate about the things she loved. So thus far they both sound like really wholesome, young adults..

Is this going to be the same scenario with the jets is happening with daniel jones. We watching the same exact playbook happen like the offense is limited due to his turnover prone capabilities to a degree. It doesn't feel like jason garrett's playbook is that creative offensively. We've a bad offensive line. It just seems like we're going down the road. The same thing is going to happen. That's happened with the jets. I'm gonna end up watching daniel jones on another team somewhere else. One day with a better offensive system in place. I'm going to watch him shine. That's how i felt yesterday. At least jason geared smart ivy league. I listened that play calling key. It's the most obvious offense. It's creating what's coming from the couch the worse thank you. It's worse here's my overreaction. And this is before the draft. I have now seen enough daniel jones. I know how you feel about this. And you like. I think he has a chance under the right circumstances to maybe be a solid. Nfl quarterback a good quarterback. But we're in year. What is it now. Three year for daniel jones. It's fine max. Ohi wanted just fields. Just feel i want like. Should the giants be looking for a quarterback. If i'm not saying you reach for one and try and try and invent one. If he's not there. Buttercup here's what he's talking to you jay if if he was looking at you about if if they have some reservation on data jones what you then go and do is you. Go get a you. Don't go to draft another guy. You don't do that. What you get is a throw away that get jameis winston in india reclamation project exactly. But i'm trying. I was trying to take somebody out there. That's like going gives you have to wait for them to show up just could you. I was going to say. Like jared. Goff tyrod taylor. If shawn watson were to somehow get back on the field for or yeah but he made it a little longer into you going get you a marcus mariota or ryan donahue replace marcus mariota right in. That's what a guy who was once thought a lot of who showed some promise. I couldn't get the consistency out there. That's left like that in talking about the hot seat. The hot seats already been replaced right. We gotta wait for the seats to heat up again. We gotta wait to see who might be available quarterback cam newton. But that's different that's different. That's different. I mean like the guy that like. A guide has got three to four years in the league. Like jamie winston at a teen doesn't want you go and get one.
