"That that's that's a question and you know. He's just like the the swing skill which i think america. His shooting is going to be point swing skill for him as well. But defense the athleticism switch ability The lane he's fully six nine. I'm going gotti boss. Oklahoma city s up. I i love that pick I'm scotty barnes fan. As well. And i think a way to think about him. I'm not saying these are the same players by the way but he can have an impact like draymond. Green has an impact even if he's not scoring the basketball because he does so many other things well and he's going to be able to defend multiple positions. And i agree with tony that he seems like a lock as far as an oklahoma city type of prospect here and so i think that's a great call at seven. That gives me the wizards at eight a team. That has you know. Been surprising lately. But i think the long run we know that russell westbrook i and bradley beal are not their backcourt of the future. that this is ultimately going to be where they're going to have to address that that at some point We're going to see some changes there. in washington and and so that leads me to a and and you could pick a lot of different guys here who i think the best wing to is on the board and i think for upside to me. That's going to be key on johnson. Tennessee who already is an elite defender. An elite athlete and the question. Mark is going to be again around. his shooting That's swings right now that we're gonna watch closely offensively. He's had some some really good games for tennessee and he's had some games that have not been not been so great but i've seen him come on as the season goes on. He's again one of the younger players in this draft. I think he's got a lot of terrific upside. And i think he's a good long term prospect for Washington at you know. I you know i love that whole conglomerate in tennessee You know the one thing that about. He's really young. You know you still eighteen I think he has a lot of upside I think if because some weight on the if you look worse at jump shot you know. I think that he's he's a guy that you're gonna look at the one thing about this tennessee team right in. If you're an nba team everybody on that roster defense or else you're just not going to be on the floor and It's kinda like the kind of like the j. right thing right by you know. You're getting jay wright kid you know you're getting A guy who has a chance of being lee. Nba role player. He knows how to play. He mashed she plays the right way. Lose basketball like this does a ton of things that come with drafting a of villanova guy that you know that you're to get and i think that one of the things with tennessee under this rick vines hours that you you know you draft one of rick's kids on that guy's gonna come in. He's going to know how to defend right away. And i think the desk valuable skill at the nba level often. That you can't discount that and look there's other shooting guards or wings that people can make arguments on. But because i believe kion johnson brings that skill to the table and i think that we can count and bad on that skill. He seems less risky than some of the other guys. Where you're betting on a lot of different skills that they're going to bring to the table that puts the chicago bulls In your court. Tony at nine. Is this where we get jaylon johnson. Oh sorry jalen wow. It's a cold day for jaylon. Johnson is cold david johnson. I'm staying. i'm staying with tennessee. I'm gonna i'm selected jaden springer. I listen. I think the jaden springer has a chance to be really.

david johnson jaden springer jaylon johnson bradley beal jalen Tony jaylon washington Mark Johnson russell westbrook oklahoma rick six seven eight Green johnson Oklahoma draymond

"Yeah and that's that's you know that's the other thing is that that he's not involved in that kind of jam session. I think was the three others. Because he's the vocalist. And you know the older though. Come later they'll they'll get added and so forth lurks will be created and to to to fit some music that's already been laid out Yeah so Ed Vallon Court. The Silent Ed is played by John Fetish and like I said both John and mark were actually musicians. I and then became actors. for for this. I don't know if I remember right. I don't think mark really did anything before this. I think he's done a couple of things since it's more stuff than than John S. unfortunately But but then Jason Jason Lee NBA card up as the actors that then have to learn how to and and Jason Lee last because he only has one or really who to singing things. The one previous that the Something in the air and he's actually. He's playing guitar there. That's most fans have have that Among their members that they can do so multiple things of course multiple instruments and But then later on definitely with the cover of the Rolling Stone Song that he leads Yep and that's why you hear his real voice in those two scenes as is the is the point versus the other guy Marti Frederiksen that when he's onstage whenever we hear here whether it's alive or recording Stillwater songs Mardi seeing that. I don't think there's a whole lot more I wanted to say. You have anything else on this man. There's just a desert Shah with them so borrow cactuses and CACTI. I mean in the in the minute right before it ends all and I guess back to. The Black Crowes always seemed weird to me in the early eighties because Kate Hudson ended up marrying. Yeah Right Chris Robinson and it's like the Black Crowes just are still water. Essentially like bullock way later but the that's how they dressed especially Chris Robinson. Yeah yeah sure. Yeah seemed like life imitating art there. He's like well. I'm not I'm not gonNA marry a Jason Lee or billy credit because they don't actually look like that day to day when they're just walking around California but this guy does well and something actually in trying to find my notes. the John's name Of of Silent Ed Also came across stuff. I added into my notes. Not Too long ago Out If you're familiar with that there's been a almost famous musical. Oh cool and so it stayed in a had all. It's it's it's whole like initial like month dish mother so one or two maybe the most Run all in just just Sandiego on pretty sure All at the same theatre in San Diego. But then hopefully it's GonNa make it to Broadway gas or something or or may be destroyed around the country and maybe around the world but they wrote new songs to express the plot. They wrote new songs to express it. It is in the style of like stillwater seventies rock band no it's definitely still stillwater. It's still this ban. It's called still water but I mean the music in the musical. Yeah I believe. I believe the songs had been written for this movie. I think they are reused and more songs also written to to do to like what you're saying express certain things going on throughout. Yeah but that the band the band so I mean they certainly do some things with you. Know For both the band so water and the the Bandaids YOU KNOW A. They have some different types. I think that they're going for that. I think they wanted to get some other A A better you know. Twenty twenty a vibe of mixture of people and and you know racism orientations and different things like that but Definitely they have a way. Amanda Penny and same. Same named members of the band were just with is definitely one of them. I believe is is is an african-american fellow so forth okay. But you know there's but I've even gotten gotten a little bit of talking with. I'll just mention at least William The actor the actor playing William from at least initial roll. This initial allow Ryan was. Casey likes soldiers may put a little throughout their before. We get to the end. Here are minute Out hopefully maybe he may come on for just like even like a special episode down the road here the band-aids not they not in this universe takes place or bandaids not a real product. Do they do not really nothing when you say I just looked they were invented in the nineteen twenties. So okay well. Yeah Yeah. That's yeah that's not. I think that was a play on. You know I mean. I don't know if they were really call bandits back in the seventies if it in Cameron's you know the ill-fated Cameron went through You know being a writer and Tori going on tours but I don't think that's a if it was then. If that's what the the other penny putting trouble or any of the other two or three lead Groupie Type Women that Camera New and amalgamated into to be to be this. I think If there was if any of them call themselves. Bandaids what's another name. There was a name of fine garter girls I think just point that out from somewhere else in the world the real name by that penny had come up with back then but but when but when Cameron Crowe went to writing this I think you know. Yeah I mean if you know bandaids are. Things are real your product yet. You know. It's you don't need you can you? Can you can take something like that and make it a a the name of this. I'm official non-profit. Making a group of girls of groupie girls. You know. That's the kind of you know copyright and so forth issues. They're they're just doing this as a as a play. I mean I knew I would think that you know I could find two or three friends and we call ourselves the Nike guys or something. You know they're like problem. They're like well. We're just start making money all of a sudden we're just girls that like to hang out and help the band and like give them attention and we're called the band aid brand adhesive bandages group but I was thinking. Maybe there's some sort of imagery there too because you know you're missing your spouse or something like band aids are like you put them on and it just takes a second. If you're hurting you put them on there and protect yourself. But then after a couple of days year rip them off and you throw more. They're definitely disposable and everything so it might be evoking like like. Oh we definitely help. People get better benefits and it's like well. Then how come you're all in the trash like because we helped already? I stop an infection. Maybe that's interesting. Yeah wow well. So that's about it. Yup Yeah so great. I really appreciate you being on these three times. And and the police. Give us a rundown of some of your Summer all of your projects. Oh Yeah The author five podcast O F F. I v. e. that's progress. "When John Murray is eating this thing is going to be like well. This is good. What is this and I say it's a mustard group-based dressing that's why your nickname should be mustered? This why is that. We'll get long into the night and I'll convince him that his nickname should be mustered. His name was Jontay. Zach Lowe had him on human would he would you feature in one of his ten things. Like I don't know if I left then maybe in too long I would definitely think he didn't like you got you guys are having dinners. I got a different plan. I'm having PJ Tucker over for SMP's Saturday morning pancakes the man is the pancake okay King of the NBA So let's SM PJ's. I feel like originally like when we first sat down. This guy is GonNa hate me. He seems like the Kinda guy that would hate a silly media media guy but then you know maybe I'm wearing exclusive robe or a very fancy pair of house slippers or something that will catch his eye and next thing you know. We're talking about fashion. Eating Bacon. Bacon could be a good time with. PJ token to answer. I'm going to keep it simple. I'm not gonNA over thinking I'm going on. I haven't Tacos on a Tuesday with Lebron. See what he's going to deliver here. Because there's I've seen some people question some of the Tacos that he's consuming on Taco Tuesdays. Yeah but it's tough to tell from the look of the TACO. But what do you mean by questions. That's just not not super high quality you can obviously get in California. So let's say you're GONNA have you're going to have high quality tacos. Sounds like I mean not all said. I'm a member of the idea of spinning meet. I've never called it spinning meet. What go down to? You've got to go round. Love that song. They used to play that on Strafford. The next question do you can tell. This is our second show Next one hey no dunks gang. It's been quite around Andrea dollar the last few weeks. He's under contract back with Memphis at the moment but said he wants to play for title. Contender where would you like. EGO dollar to land keep up the great work that's Aaron Andrea Diallo. Hasn't played a minute this season. Just just hanging out. It was traded from Golden State in the off season cash saving move so Andrea Della. He's very active. He's not retired. Where should he go? Yeah yeah well. This is a good because he's saying where would you like equal not where Willie I think he's going to. The lake is eventually yes I think so. I think it's just a matter of time before it gets it because there seems to be a role there obviously title contender. I mean if he's available they'll they'll try to make the make the roster moved to get him in the team. I mean he's a fantastic play. You know he's won championships. He's going to bring that experience. He's GonNa come off the bench. You're going to play like Paul George Leonard to to try and guard. Yeah Yeah exactly I mean he just he'd bring so much to a team in basically in few minutes as well. I mean you might play ten minutes. One Ninety might play twenty five minutes. You might throw him into the starting lineup. One night maybe he just comes off the bench. We know we can hit clutch shots. We know he can defend we know can handle the ball if necessary brings so many tools to the table. So that's why I think the Lakers are going to figure out a way to get him eventually. But I would love to seem gene. Got The blazers because I think they could really use them. I think I think he could turn that team from periphery contender into perhaps a contender. If that's if that's it's an upgrade from the periphery to the perhaps look. They've lost a lot of the perimeter. Defense Amino Hawk those sort of guys not there and again all those other things I said he can take the offensive. Hate away from Lillard and McCulloch. He can defend he. Can he can do all. These things can come off the bench so I would love to see him in Portland. Betty could use in Portland to go like that. I mean you just know. He takes care of himself so if even though he's not playing right now he's going to be ready whenever he does get picked up by another or whenever the situation in Memphis crystallizes and he gets out of there so I would love to see him in Portland similar note. The Houston Rockets aren't On the top of everybody's contender Louis. But they're in the realm and so I'd I'd like to see him go there because you know I I like a lot of people. Don't totally believe they can win a championship. But I also aren't. I'm not going to discount them. Because of all the talent they have. I think he can go there because they desperately need depth. I think he can go into the locker room and tell them what they're missing as a guy who beat them multiple times with the Golden State Warriors. I think yeah. The Blazers are sort of their in that bubble and the rockets. They're not far. I definitely don't think they're far despite their lousy defense to start this season not bad about Eastern conference teams full full circle. Go back to the Philadelphia Seventy sixers. That's a thin team. He would fit in there. Just being another guy who plays defense and he'd be able to make plays which I think would take a little bit of pressure off off. Ben Simmons come playoff time or maybe even the Toronto Raptors. It'd be a decent three for them you know they've got og. They've got norm Powell who are both running out at the small position position but not bad getting the guy with some championship experience. Another vet. WHO's GonNa make place? We saw how the vets showed up for the raptors in last year's playoffs Igwe Dallas. Seems like you'd be the exact same kind of guy. Great Great Question Erin. I do think likely was saying though. I think he's ultimately going to end up on the Lakers. But he's a guy if he stays in shape that you can basically good plug into almost any teams in a reserve role. He's going to be able to contribute. So it'll be cool to see him. Hopefully one of these teams one of these sort of title contender teams a little bit later in the year. It's GonNa be weird though if he goes to the Lakers that he's reportedly wants to retire as Golden State Warriors. Just kind of bounce just going to be a little championship type chaser. Maybe be a roger. Clemens just show up for the last couple of months of the season try and win a title for a couple different teams then go back to the warriors. I don't know maybe just loves Gold Old Jersey Smith. Nuggets Warriors Lakers. Who else all right next one here this is from at? PJ underscore will says on twitter. Do you think there will be a commissioner's choice. Choice for the All Star game again this year. And if so who. Vince Carter and Jamal Crawford would get my vote again. That's from. PJ alluding to the fact. That obviously doc Novitsky and Dwayne Wade were announced as commissioner choices. SORTA like bonus additions to the all star game and everybody loved it. That was great but do you like the idea of always doing it. I think it can be a year by thing. I'm fine with okay. I don't think you have to have one. And you don't even have to have to in fact every year. If one player is deserving of it. Then I'm fine with I mean I don't think it necessarily is. It has to be going his last season. I think it can be a guy who we all agree should have made an all-star game but never did and never will will someone like a Mike Conley for example. I actually hate this. Although veterans of a of a legend commissioners choice being the first all-star selection. That's why calmly to me. No Way Jamal Crawford. He's not in the League right now. It should be Vince. This is your last season. He's a million years old. It should be him and it should only be events events but I don't like the idea of a guy never made an all star team so we'll throw him. I hate that too. Yeah Tassotti last year it was. It was interesting because weighed burk. Definitely didn't deserve to be Ulster's last season but they didn't look out a place out there because it's an all star game in these are the most talented people in the world and there's not a lot of defense being played so there are making it happen. It was fun to see them. Come off the bench and so my initial thought is yeah. Why the heck bring a couple of guys who were definitely already going to be in the hall of fame so this isn't going to boost their resume? Whatever events on further West you've got to be in the uh-huh Revenue Craig? Hodges I mean let them run out there with an MBA. Maybe the nuggets assignment in February. Just so he can be an all star. There's not really a good one in the west to Jimmy Soul. But he's not really an all-star gay you need to have a What's the point? Then I mean it worked with Durkan. We don't get me wrong long We sort of knew that was the end guy played so long it was just perfect. You know one being in the east and one being in the last but yeah I like trying to like like. We have to now debate it and convince ourselves every year. If like this was a thing I don't like it either with with trae like what. It feels. Fine like Vince. I could get bored. And if mellow was in the League views views on team he would sort of make sense to while I'm hanging up at the end of the year Scher but otherwise. Yeah we don't need to like who's got who's going to be this year like we're GONNA GONNA get into some crazy people down the line good question all right next one here. Hi guys loving the new format so glad you're back being paid to talk about basketball with your friends might be considered acidity by many to be a dream job but I wanNA know what were your dream jobs growing up from Ricardo in Brazil. Thanks for emailing Ricardo Dream Jobs growing up. I dreamt about not having a job when I grew. I think that'd be awesome to not actually have to work for a living and just be independently wealthy living my life. That's actually still my dream job but other than that baseball player. Not just any baseball player. I wanted to be actually Ryne Sandberg. V Ryan Sandberg yet. So I don't know if we can figure out a way to go back in time splice genes. Maybe I'll be able to make a work at some point. What did you like about SAMBA? You gotta you had the power and speed. Aw Man you're telling me second baseman sitting forty Jack's winning a gold glove guy could do it all. Yeah he's Pedis. Well yeah I mean it's basically you're supposed. Yeah that's not the sexy position though is at second base isn't a shortstop where you want to be. Yes Sean Johnston. They're playing pool arm. Got The shadow meter. He almost got a three hundred one season. Wow three hundred right now. He's GonNa hit thirty percent of the time. It's sick Ryan Sandberg First Million Dollar Contract I think in. MLB really yeah. I guess that never some calling the original Jeff. Ken what a compliment. Delman where we see San on survivor. That'd be great hope for JD. What was your dream job growing up? Rockstar yeah you made it then. Jd Not quite the pink palace in Scotland's Yeah Plan American Pie for the backpack careers drummer. Yeah that's You know but I wasn't really interested in learning how to play any instruments. I never took a lesson for anything that I played. So who was who. Who is your frigging natural? Who's your who's your idol Keith? Moon probably my and then I mean this is is a little dark but when did you know when did you know you are not going to be a Rockstar era. A moment a Gig. Whatever it was the year two thousand thousand are banned just broke up? That one had no desire to like do this for ten years. Here's where I was very much work. Yeah like you know Holland up and down stairs you know we were our own roadies. I was the driver ever if the van so it was a lot of work so I said screw it. I'm going to Ryerson. Lukens looking joined another band. I'm pretty much to us. I was wrong I was wrong about Rien advert. He was the first six million dollar bid to the man. Okay just had to get that out there because I did follow the baseball game Very closely back then. Because I was a baseball definitely want to be a baseball player on to suit up. I didn't really have particular position I wanted to kick the dirt at. You know the sweet smell the grass. Oh Yeah Ed Lee NBA player. I assume that was that was the hope that I actually.

"Game two of the NBA finals and where this series goes from here. And of course, the ramifications which is always a subplot of any NBA season. But there was so much in this game two we may as well go to Toronto, go to the scene, and we're joined now, you'd follow him on Twitter at Mr.. Michael Michalis a senior writer for the f- wetback longtime NBA columnist and reporter who joins us now on CBS sports radio. Michael, I really appreciate the time. I'll let you steer here. What's the most interesting thing from game? To you. Well, I mean that the warriors were able to just, you know, get in the mud and pull out a really gutsy win. You know, they've, I think a lot of people know that they're sort of a flashy team with all these stupor stars and they have a hit circus shots, and, you know, they're so entertaining and riveting, but they had to get that really got one out and they know their champions and they're used to, you know, winning in every way possible, but they actually, you know had to, you know the air up against it. They lost late Thompson. They loved kevon looney. They already without Kevin Durant under your plan on the bed lake Steph curry, a bad hand, you know, two buckets cousins just coming back from a six week injury. What his leg? So they're banged up scrapping. They're fighting and they had to do everything possible to scrape three about a win and they got it. And they got the last break, you know with. The loose ball wind up in the hands of saw Livingston. And then under the dollar is drilled a three which was there for there for the taking and that just seems like what the warriors do. They needed a win desperately. They play like a team that had to win the game. And they pulled it out. Yeah, it was a championship pedigree win. No question. You mentioned Kvant. Would you say? What'd you say acting giants? Yes. Yes, exactly. They it was it was a very inspired performance. And it was also a likeable performance for them, because it felt like they were undermanned for like the first time in years. Yeah. I mean you know, you get three big three's from clink cook. You know, Steph Curry's running on Ceylon and chest. Bumping while they live live action during the day. I haven't seen in a while and they get three lobs to Andrew bogut only playing because give on loonies not around. So, you know, Steph, Stephen stuff, max. Steve Kerr likes to talk about strength in numbers. And, and it really does seem to have these moments where plays out that way where, you know the team just finds a way in whoever throws out there. You know, it makes makes the contributions that they need they just they need to just enough. You know, it's funny to they had a hundred points in game one and lost and hundred nine points in game two and one and they just really just found a way to scrap it on the scrap on the defensive end. Draymond green was phenomenal. Stat line was really oppressive. But just he was so active would all over the place energy. I think was felt by everybody enduring that big run eighteen run to start a third quarter where they seem to get just let the layup and mob after LA that was inspired by during the energy and just his, his willingness attack the basket. You know, when step is having a tough night shooting. We're talking to Michael Lee NBA reporter for the ethnic. What do we know about the severity of? The injuries to kevon looney and Klay Thompson. Kvant loonies injuries, seems pretty severe. I mean I hear what he's gonna try to play or not in game three but it looked bad with Klay. Thompson is look, he was limping on his way out of the arena and wasn't a design. But clay type of guy he's ironman he usually shows up to play whenever he had the chance to play. I'd be surprised if he doesn't try to play. I think he's going to do everything in his power to get there. And you know this lawyers, medical staff, you know, they're going to be stretched to the limit trying to make sure they get everybody available and Kevin Durant, obviously, who they would love to get back in a on the floor. He's walking around looks to be making some progress in either gonna play Ozzy game for game four. I think the win at least gives them, you know, a reason to sort of if Kevin is not all the way back. They can maybe give him another game and they'd be having ready for Friday, which would be, you know, pretty pretty awesome. If. He can, you know, stay, you know, get another extra couple of days before he comes back because I think that this series the way a set up right now with the injuries that they're dealing with. They gotta get this thing over with quickly. They don't wanna let this thing drag on, because these guys are having a really hard time, just, you know, stay healthy in, in the longer. This goes the more dangerous. It gets. I was thinking about K D And how perfectly this sets up for him. Like, if he comes back plays superman and is the reason they win in many ways. It validates his importance to the warriors his entire time being there. And then if he does leave in free agency, he can say, see they needed me to win, and then I'm going to go win on my own. It's a weird thing, but like absence does make the heart grow fonder in a way. Yeah, I think it validates its it to, like a lot of the haters. Diminish what he or disregard. What he's done already. I think that he's already validated in, you know, from a personal perspective and just how much is game has grown and just went into finals VP's into championship rings. I don't think you can question his decision to go there. I mean, I guess you can question it. But I think you look foolish in my opinion, and I think is value has been proven over time. And one of the things that I think that sort of neglected or nor when it comes to his value to this team right now is the game that they were able to win without him. A lot of that is due to the fact that he did such so much of the heavy lifting. You see Draymond green playing great basketball right now. But he wasn't playing great basketball on a regular season and he was, and he was playing great ball. Do the first couple of games or the playoff, but he was there defensively and he had the energy to do that, Dow's because Kevin Durant was doing a lot of the heavy lifting Steph curry could get loose when Kevin Durant was now because Durant it blue. Rated the Los Angeles Clippers pretty much bomb self so that took some of the pressure off of these guys. And it made it easier for them to, you know, go back into their roles when they when they open back up, but Kevin is very valuable very important. And it, it bothers me that people don't recognize how a team works and just was done through the course of the year, you know, and great players and what they do to relieve pressure off guys and Kevin data's job, if he doesn't come back and play another game this year. He's done his job for the warriors, because they wouldn't be here in the finals in those guys wouldn't have had paternity to just, you know, have those huge monster games if Kevin had done so much to get them a position, very well said, senior NBA writer for the athletic Michalis our guest from Toronto before the game. You had a piece out where you had spoken to DeMarcus cousins. And there's some there's some good quotes in there. I don't know if you've got a chance to. Talk to him after this game, but I can't imagine how s- personally satisfying, it must have been given all he's gone through with his health to have a double double in play a hugely meaningful role in an NBA finals win. Yeah. Me, one of the things that we talked about that, I mentioned too much story was how only got play eight minutes in game one. And he's like, you know, that's not enough time to really have any kind of impact, you know, I wanna I wanna contribute, like he, he really wanted to be out there on the floor. So I got after when I was like you got more than eight minutes tonight and he's like, yes show, did you know and you could just see the impact of e add just from a defensive standpoint because he's not really their offensive -ly yet. He's Abbas rhythm. But he had blah. He was, I think two or three blocks shots. He was doing everything in terms of being a deterrent. You know from from guys attacking the basket. He had ten big rebounds, six assists. So he was another facilitator out there on the floor. And, and it really took you know made it easier you know, for guys put emotion offense too early work. And when they had that big run to start the second half he was on the floor for a lot of that. So I mean he was plus twelve you know, in his in his time on the floor, and you could just see just talent is really what matters at this stage of the seasons because you can have whatever scheme you want. You can come up whatever defense, you want to figure out that you just they pretty much seen it all. But if you have really elite talent that's what's going to separate yourself from everybody else and say what you will even if he's not one hundred percent and he's, you know, still trying to regain his his rhythm. He still DeMarcus cousins and he's still a really good player before the series. I picked the warriors in five but after two games and I know people will pile on Toronto for this being tough loss, given how the warriors were undermanned but, you know, PASCAL and green. Gene, and soul for as great as they were in game one. I don't think they're going to be as bad going forward as they were in game two. So if the warriors don't get better luck with health. I actually think this series is going to go longer than I initially thought in Toronto's. Okay. What do you think? I agree. And I think that defensively, the raptors can feel pretty encouraged about how they played every quarter except for the third. Yup. I'm not sure what happened to them at their quarter where they just completely had let their guard down. And just we're just missed had so many miss defense of Siamese. They just seem to be so confused by the warriors misdirections, and, you know, they were giving up layups it wasn't like Klay guy hot or Steph got hot and a three point ambush. And like there's just something you couldn't really prepare for. They were just cutting back door. You know, they were making extra pass and guys just swooping in for dunks. And I was like everything is at the rim or, you know, in the paint, you know, those are they, they obviously were pushing them out, and making sure they weren't getting three pointers, and that's, that's the defense that they had set up, but they paid the price and they'd never adjusted until you know they were already in a big hole. But I agree with you. I think that the raptors are better team than a lot of people wanted to give him credit for coming into this series. I think that they been tested more than any team to other courses postseason in terms of their opponents. And just what they, they had to offer a film. Adelphia was a really tough team. That's seven games for good reason because I don't know if there are many teams in the league to have that much talent in that compla- that well together especially the defensive in so they survived them. The bucks were sixty win team in steamrolled everybody. And they found a way to, you know, make it difficult for him. You know, Steph curry hasn't had a good shooting performance, yet, and a lot of that is because the defense that they, they thrown his way, I think if they could cut back on a lot of the turnovers some of the floppy turnover they may. And they find a way to play defense with their feet and to their hands, you know, 'cause you know Kyle Lowry found out obviously Seattle mingka's all without trouble for good stretch of the game. And I think that, that is sort of got them a little off. Course the one thing they're going to have to do is find a way. To to to to relieve alive. A lot of pressure that he feels to deliver, you know, because they, they the warriors are clearly committed to making sure he sees three or four bodies. Whenever he tried to put the ball on the floor. So the other guys are going to have to step up. And I think they're capable of Michael's. We let you go. I love the pomp and circumstance around the NBA always have always will yet Drake Obama's in the building. Give me some of the color of game too. Oh, it was cool. I mean, you know, seeing Obama, they're gonna standing ovation on the fans. It was pretty cool. Drake is, you know, Drake. He's gonna be there..

"I mean, I saw like an oxygen tank coming across. No, that's not anything. You should be here. That's not how Jerry bias ran the Lakers casino. I've got your back on that one. That would be a little disconcerting for me Cotino Mobley eleven MBA seasons. A well dressed man is fine. This guy's Taylor. Could see anybody joy with the news. This is the headline news cloth hat. Oh, no. No. No. No, no. I do not look heavily for. No, no, no. There are certain untrue. You look good enough adore. You look good. If a tow anti hat person. No, no, no. Because good hair. I have my head is shaped like a bean. I don't look good. I can't do ball, by the way. Let me see your hair, by the way is now. Now, see I think you look. Great bus. No. Because you have the perfect symmetry your faces rounded up. I look if I was bald. I would look like a taxi with its doors open. I would be it would be the most ridiculous looking thing. Very senior. Text me. All right. The terrible ending the Celtics season game five gentleman sweep Tyree went six for twenty one and south of the final eight minutes. And you know, we pretty much could have seen this coming the way that the regular season went with the Celtics about how come I couldn't? She coming. Everybody in America Sonics at me. We discuss it. We discuss it a lot. I just always felt they had enough talent overcome. I had blind when shoes. Yeah. Blinders on he didn't wanna have any doubts. Well after the game Brad Stevens to blame the blame for the season. I'll be the first to say that this is you know, as far as any other year that I've been head coach certainly been the most trying I think I've done I did I did a bad job like at the end of the day like as a coach few team doesn't find its best fit together. That's on you. I think they showed a lot of character at a lot of different times to keep coming back and the stay together. And I've said from the get-go this team in the locker room, and they're all together, his great. We just couldn't find it play together as well as we we had hoped and Milwaukee's really good, by the way that we are not giving Milwaukee any loves today, and they do deserve it. You're absolutely right there their bench. The honest has been incredible assign it'll game when they look awful Middleton's been better than he's ever been. I always worried about this team because I do think it's a baby step league. The warriors are rare. They were like nobody and great usually. It's like oh you win. You win. A first round you in a second Milwaukee last year. I'm like they can't wanna road playoff game. Two. Oh god. They're like eight deep. Well, coach best player Middleton's now. Now, Milwaukee when you watch the series by game three you're like, oh cabinet big mistake. Milwaukee's way better. Yeah. We all down in Milwaukee. Because everything you just said, we didn't know what they're expecting. They've been incredible Janas definitely deserves credit for that Milwaukee. Could not win a road playoff game last year in Boston. So it's like now the best team by Farnese. Right. And and Boston's gonna be okay. It's like you said like they're they're both in end up where they need to be end up in a space that works for him. And I just think that the situation with the Celtics they have too much of the same thing. It's very hard. When you have a young through unproven group guys are trying to not only their value. So that they can get their contracts, but they also are trying to win. And that's a weird dynamic, and you have a bunch of guys you need the ball in their hands to be successful again to rhythm. And the one thing I would say is this, you know, mentioned earlier Brad Stevens is kind of skating and all of this because he has this incredible system was kind of annoyed anointed before actually achieving anything. And that's like saying he's. Not a good coach. But there's a lot of talent on that team in this league is about talent college is not a system. Fells always been a coaches Lee NBA's a players league. And it has been since since I've been a kid in the seventies. I remember talking to a college coach your this is like dating me. But I remember when I went to college in the early eighties, and I was talking to.

"To Michael Lombardi later on in the show about the NFL draft. Thanks to Michael Lee NBA writer from the athletic for joining us earlier, eight five five two one two four to seven is the number. If you're going to want to get involved. I I'm interested in having a nuanced respectful conversation. About baseball race and the N word if we can do it sports talk radio across America will see. Baseball. Let me down this week. But they didn't let me down that much because I didn't really have much expectations for major league baseball. It said man, it really is. I love baseball so much, but they get in their own way, often and. I was talking. I was on the air when the royals and the White Sox were playing a day game. In Tim Anderson, hit a moonshot home run. And he didn't flip his bat. Make no mistake. He tossed his bat. That was a ten out of ten bat toss we set it on the air at the time. Ooh. That's not gonna make the royals happy. We're going to have a bench-clearing incident before this one's over. And then sure enough next time Tim Anderson's up to bat. Brad Keller pitcher the royals hit some right in the buttocks benches. Clear people. Go nuts. No, real fight. But you know, Ned Joost gets involved recruiting three gets involved on Cooper gets involved, all sorts of old coaches and men, and it's just it's a lot of weakness. And then the ojection come down. Okay. Rick Renteria makes sense. He got a little physical manager Brad Keller. He threw a ninety five mile an hour. Projectile human being for hitting a home run off him. Okay. Makes sense. Wait. What Tim Anderson got addicted? So Tim Anderson hits a home run celebrates his home run goes down to first base after getting hit by a baseball. He got a decade for getting hit by a baseball made. No sense. So then we spent the next forty minutes of the show talking about unwritten unwritten rules and bat, flips and celebrations, and how baseball needs to get younger and hip her and cooler, and how the sport needs to manderson sport needs trash talk. The sport needs flair to manderson put on a big chain in the dugout after hitting a home run with the White Sox logo around it. Just like the you had the turnover chain from AMI football. The White Sox last year had one for hitting home runs. Tim anderson. Brought it back after hitting hope that homerun. You're like, yes. This is what baseball needs. And of course, baseball, Tim Anderson. But then we find out from Jeff passan over at ESPN. That Tim Anderson was suspended for language. He gets not only jetted for getting hit by a baseball. After having the indignity of hitting a home run. He got suspended for language and his language was calling. Brad Keller a week S F an N word. Okay. Now, we've got a thought exercise on our hands. And now we need context. And now we need nuance. And now, we need perspective. And this is where major league baseball falls short. Let me give you some of the context. Tim Anderson is the only African American baseball player on the White Sox. It was Jackie Robinson week. Tim anderson. Plays for a team based on the south side of Chicago that while baseball is not that diverse only seven point eight percent of baseball's black. The White Sox have a more diverse fan base than most because of where they're located on the south side of Chicago. Tim Anderson is very active in charity charitable works on the south side of Chicago, Tim Anderson, just brought a bunch of kids from school to do a screening of forty to the Jackie Robinson bio-pic Tim Anderson when he's been on the road. Ironically in Kansas City has gone to the negro leagues museum. Tim Anderson is a black baseball player who is involved in charities that benefit the black community around in which he plays to manderson do not appeal his suspension. But Tim Anderson offered up this quote to the local media when he would not directly address what he said. But he did say this. He said quote. I think I talked to you guys enough to kind of know where you know, what kind of guy I am and certain things that I've been through. I think you guys know what kind of person I am I'm going to keep going just keep having a lot of fun. And hopefully put this behind me, and quote, if you don't know, Tim Anderson story, and you're saying, well, what kind of guy is he just told you about some of the charitable works. He also. Less than two years ago may of two thousand seventeen the godfather of his daughter and one of his best friends from childhood was shot back home in Alabama at the age of twenty three years old when he was coming to the aid outside of a bar of someone who had been involved in a bar altercation. Someone came up behind him and shot him a couple of times in the back. Tim Anderson is the godfather of that man's child who lost his father her father, excuse me in the shooting incident. To Anderson has been through has seen a lot by all accounts is a good guy is charitable guy and got a jacket and suspended for using a word that he was not using as a racial slur. Now, I am a white guy. Right. This is not my word. But I do sometimes think that doesn't mean that we shouldn't tell for our perspective because I think it's throughout history often, it's the responsibility of the majority to stick up for those who are not in power those who are in the minority in a couple of weeks. I'm just gonna tell you personal story. I'll be out of town. And in this time slot. One of my best friends in the world. Good buddy of mine who I co hosted with when I worked in Kansas City for about five years names, Carrington Harrison, he will be hosting in my place. He does afternoons in Kansas City. I do after noon Kogyo we used to do after news together in KC. He's black yet. I'm white kit. We became really good friends. There were times in my life. When I was in Kansas City where I was hanging out with him and his friends when I'd be the only white guy in a group full black people. No big deal. But it gives you a perspective of things similar to. Maybe Tim Anderson would feel being the only black guy the White Sox and one time Carrington said to me. We've been having a couple of cocktails..

"And we've flying. Out of sportscenter, and you're sort of measuring like what's the top of the show is that Brady and Bella check. Or is it Porzingis and Anthony Davis and the combination of Anthony Davis and having the Lakers involved? That's like news on steroids. But even like, the Blake Griffin trade was a big deal and it came out of nowhere. And it's prize everybody, but it was over. And then you talked about the aftermath. The Davis thing may be with us for a while. And so it's like, you know, like trademark it is a sport unto itself. People forget the games around some nights into saving graces that. The trade deadline is not after the all-star borough that we wouldn't have three more weeks of this that we actually get we'll we'll have some closure, and then we'll worry about who's going to get out and go from there. But in in lead into we'll talk down and wrote about it will lead into a fascinating summer of big name free agents out there. Probably one of the better classes that we will see in the big big markets in New York, and Brooklyn and LA. Chicago. I mean, we have a show for ten cents, which is our Chinese partner. And I do this kind of by monthly show now for them in one of the things sometimes I'd like to hear stories and they're asking me for my all star game memories. And I don't have him because most all weekends there prior to the trade that line, and I'm thinking what about that? I a all star game. And I'm like also weekend. I'm going all I remember is it was a prelude to the Carmelo Anthony trade, and I really just remember being in my room on the phone and all those also weakens our prior to the trade deadline like I'm like, I don't have all star memories. I just remember being on my phone somewhere. But now it is better. It's post deadline. You got the buyout stuff? But it's not quite as intense. You can actually walk outside for a few minutes. See the sun, and we could probably think that the Marcus cousin straight from a couple years ago on why the NBA changed rule when cousin basic needed. So that was an easier. I was home. I remember, bro. That I didn't go to that game. I was home which made it easier to remember work on that. Oh, you know what I was there? I was flying home. I remember I start reporting on a plan. Remember, I was struggling to get wifi. So that's how I remember. These all star weekends is the moment. Right. That I have wifi or not well, probably mine is that we probably chain Jason Kidd weight during all star weekend. And, you know, not in basically green to deal on Thursday and. I think the all star game was Norrland's that year to and not be able to get a dumb because Devon George win. Wave is no trade and having having I think we had an internship outside his house with paperwork, and he wouldn't because he would have lost bird rights there and Jerry Stackhouse coming out and basically saying that well when I got bought out I'm gonna go right back because you all that whole deal away. I remember being in Rod's office when I came out and said, yeah, wanna get bought I'm gonna just go back to Dallas. And you couldn't you could do that back then. And basically the league said none. You gotta take him out. We could take Devon George out. And then wind up being Keith Van horn on the bike. Yeah. Then sign and trade Keith Van horn would have been retired for three years and they had to change that rule because yes, we game eight million dollars. He sat with a master at circumventing circa venting rules, and certainly breaking the spirit of the rules. Well, it wasn't a rule. So nothing illegal write. Eventually it went into the league Lee NBA legals, no pad. They keep for the next CBA. And that rule was changed eventually, Bobby. We'll we'll see plenty of each other here the next few days, but it's gonna be fun. Always sounds good. Thanks for listening to this episode of the worst part of big..

"It wasn't gifted in a media title fight. That's okay. But to me, just the. I don't know where the Jerry Jones comment had to be there. It might just Ramiro way and maybe not other people, but in my mind. And maybe it's because Jerry Jones is just been consciousness. I know statements to be. That's a very slave owner issue thing for it'd be like, and the quote from data white was Jerry Jones. Tech's blue. You saw you saw Greg hardy? Like he's working for me now. Like what the hell is an auction while he's a tough tough SOB boy can pick some right kind right. They're gonna go like, what? What's like, what? What is the like? I didn't like the context of it and it's like you're giving the guy a second chance. Cool. Let him talk. Let them earn the like you butting in and say, yeah, well, me and his old boss we are. We support like for what that the guy answers questions. The questions were done. The comment was unnecessary. Like I just don't. It's so weird, the entitlement of these guys who are owners. Let me say that the health races. The entitlement and the ownership of every player. Or every fighter is horrible to me, and they feel like you do whatever I want, except for the rare few who break the air Rogers, kinda mcgregor's LeBron's everyone else's. Like, you know what you fall in line and. Lee NBA so different. I feel even with ownership with the sterling shit kind of rock the boat. So what they really think even ownerships kind of like seems like a partnership. Some of these other ones don't and is problematic and it's coming to light. It's like their voices magnified. Now they feel okay to say, you know what? No, you do what I say, I pay you. I own. And the the UFC is right along with that at a certain point. Like if you're not Conrad to tell you shut up. Dame, Dana white ADS. You fight whatever. He's on a contract. You'll be there. Yeah, they have the power and nobody stopping from it. Like dude, if Trump hasn't been impeached he's gonna see how far he can push the ship. So like NFL like sit on the show with something. I said it last year was like everybody player just walked like just stayed in the locker room and they say, you know, staying alive, everybody players saying locker room, and you got that visual. What is it going to do to your league. It's gonna make white people. That's what's going to do like that's powerful. So it's like these guys have pow is just frustrating to see the power not exercised at a point. And like I guess you're right, even civil rights. Everyone did. It might be unrealistic to say, what wants. Let's all just do something real quick tomorrow you go back to whatever. But once let's just do it, but I guess that wasn't the case back then. So. Greg, hardy touched on him a little bit about it's fighting aspects, not the guy out seventeen seconds. What do you think is him of him as a fighter? How far can he go? We know the heavyweight division US's old of they're looking for new blood couple guys up there to me. There's only one wrestler, Curtis blades in the division, a high level wrestler outside a court me, but he won't be there for long. Do you think Greg hardy has a legit future in the UFC Kennedy. A top ten top-five. Got him. Get hit by somebody who's not scared. I haven't seen it yet. He pulled back nicely. The kid was swinging the replaces to pull backward where quick. But if he was fighting a guy like stevia meal Chaves were, you know he would have left up swinging like that. So you know, we, I mean, we have seen one. Obviously, we got to see if he can wrestle or grapple or something this sprawl because I mean, yeah, he's wrecking guys, but these these guys are not good that he's beating up. So it's like a little bit different if he would've fight somebody like a tight. We've also somebody like that or junior though, Santos. And then I mean the upper echelon, you know, heavyweights they heavily divisions Dan, but where he's gotta show was war. So he's training with American top. There's no reason to Russian. Stephon struve. Steph where to get. If nothing gets down, you might be in big trouble. Still still still, there are key..

"Agent class that you can go after to find the right pieces to fit around with Brian. And and I think that I think I like what the Lakers did. I like the fact that they held onto their guys, I think is in some ways risky that you might lose a year LeBron fine, but also feel. That giving up your future for a real huge unknown is much scarier to me than than than possibly losing all year. LeBron's prime a team that's not gonna wanna championship, Michael. Go back to something that you you touched on briefly and that is that no one is really exactly sure how we got here with coed Leonard out of San Antonio and in Toronto because Kawais himself and the people that represent co, I really haven't said very much publicly if they've said anything at all, or the Spurs sitting around Gregg, Popovich RC Buford in the brain trust in San Antonio and look at each other and thinking to themselves. How in the world did we get to this spot or did they think that when when this whole thing started that this was an eventuality that maybe they were going to have to move quite Leonard? Yes. I think that was the last thing I think that they hit him probably later than they expected. I think they thought that you know, whatever was going on with Colli that it would be resolved. They could talk to him. Settle down Kelham the virtuous staying in there and building something great in being a part of organization that's been the most stable, successful franchise really over the last twenty years consistent. You know, never know. Never up and down just straight, and I think that the fact that he disrupted that to need, that's that's my blowing because you know, no, we didn't give Tim Duncan lot of credit, but just how special he was and maybe the Spurs were, you know, kind of ignorant in thinking that they could find another one. So they're really only is one duck into such a rare situation. Coack move that he's a bit different. I think that there was more we bit of a shock to system that somebody rejected the Spurs way for the second year in row because you had to realize America's offers almost asked his way out, you know, last summer, but they were able to, you know, get him back in the fold. They couldn't do that with a why. Because for whatever reason we still have not been explained it. I don't care about these bogus leaks that have come out saying he's upset over what somebody said to me. Seems kind of weak. You have much more reasons to give owners ation that invested in u heavily as the Spurs did that, that that helps you win a championship that took you at the fifteenth, pick in in help you become a top five player. That's something that you can't just be upset about somebody from that might hurt your field. As I mean, this is a business. I mean, if if you're upset, they got her new feelings. Why are you even planning? Basketball people are feeling a little floor all the time. So a lot of the students that I heard don't make any sense. So I think that at some point, Hawaii address these issues because we're just going to be sitting around and confused because to me, it's still the most amazing story in basketball d like, imagine if Tom Brady, all of a sudden just left the patriots in just said, I'm gonna play for the Jacksonville Jaguars and just left without ever explaining it. We'd be sitting there scratching my head trying to figure out obviously colliding on that level. But I'm just saying he did win five, maybe p he. Wasn't got flam building a future around and hope that they could, you know, become a champion again with him at the forefront, and he just abandoned that just walked away from it and I can't be playing for the Lakers that much of a draw that you would give up all of that just start all over and anyone that is feelings were like at that doesn't that doesn't it. That's not enough for me any of the lot more put us to make sense. Mike, Lee, NBA four Yahoo sports, where he is a senior writer, Michael, always a pleasure. Thanks man. Thank you. Yeah, that was really fascinating right there. I mean that that..

"New jersey seventeen landroverparamus dot com has jon stashower john and lisa stanley cup playoffs coming in a few weeks the devils would like to be involved but they lost in san jose last night sixty two the sharks with three goals in the first period three more in the second cory schneider gave up the first four goals for taking a seat on the bench taylor hall in defeat is thirty second goal of the year score six two i i didn't feel like it was a six game i thought we could have some some more goals in that for sure so there's just some parts per game where we're a little bit off it doesn't seem like we have the confidence with the puck right now that that we've had all season long so we have to find that and i talked to you guys a lot this year it's you don't wanna get too high not too low and still a chance to go over five hundred for a road trip so at this time of year i think it's best to be positive and just keep moving forward and keep your eyes on on what's ahead of you florida panthers one in ottawa their eleven to and one of the last fourteen games are only one point behind new jersey the last white and the devils of late to moorgate nights straight win for columbus at the garden chris kreider scored late got the rangers within one but our semi finished the hat trick with two seconds left the blue jackets beat the blue shirts five to three islanders four one over pittsburgh thirty sixth golfer anders lee nba houston made at twenty three twenty four with a win at portland that ends the blazers thirteen game win streak james harden with forty two points in it wins for penn state and mississippi state so they'll be at the garden next week ncwa tournament resumes tomorrow south regional in atlanta four teams that are seated five seven nine and eleven and the west regional in la has the top two seeds didn't make it they're either exhibition baseball yankees sat most of their regulars lots of the tigers eight to three the mets with matt harvey looking sharp in eight two seven win over the cardinals hormones for travis dr no wilmer flores and adrian's with the bloomberg nbc sports update i'm jon stashower john lisa thank you so much and other news on bloomberg.

"This is a huge responsibility on your shoulders uh for a playoff team i'll be i want to get to the words of the second which is the follow up one more day with with with a cabs with all the moves that they made i i know it's for pushed this year but do you think it's enough to to keep abroad and cleveland are do you think he's bouncing anyway i definitely think the chancellor pin leaving our arts whiteley less but i still think that we need to back them up against the elite team lee nba you may cook state you a houston arguably boston they come up short uh this is this list could have been a rebuilding years in some way that is because i don't i don't think they make a run at the championship i don't think what they did today is going to make them they can't be too contending team for the los angeles lakers i mean what are you what are you see because i mean we can talk about the warriors were and we will relate to lakers trading getting him i mean what a what does that do for them going forward i mean i think the most important here is the draft uh los angeles is probably not going to have their pick it's likely going to go to the celtics uh joe the fact that they were able to get oh what's most likely going to be a late first round drastic and two expiring contract and isaiah thomas it's very valuable to the team is still trying to rebuild uh your during clarkson is on a restricted free agent deal that was fairly lucrative though taking their money off of the cap getting that draft pick being able to find a uh a diamond in the rough in late first round which arguably the lakers or he did last year with kyle uh they have a track record of being able to climb guys outside of the lottery jordan clarkson was found outside of water so i think they're in really good shape before the next couple of years it'd be able to uh make a make a run it free aid to be able to get draft picks in to end to grow.

"To do and that was they were going to lose in order to build through the draft and play the odds when he came to the a draft lottery and there's been a lot of criticism about that process that has produced joel impede this produce ben simmons and now marquel fault and what i say is this when i look it seemed like the old of teams like milwaukee and others if you're not any lee nba team if you're not the golden state warriors if you're if you're not the cleveland cavaliers if you're not a team like the uh the san antonio spurs that had a a superstar in kowa leonard that you can build around or team like no walkie that has a budding superstar in the greek freak then you're in trouble if you're a team that is consistently the six seventh or eighth seed in your conference your perennial six seven or eight see then you're an nba purgatory the only way you get better in the nba is if either urine upandcoming young team liked the bucks who have built through the draft in through trades or you're in elite team light golden state or cleveland if you're so it and you for somewhere in the middle or if you don't have a superstar that you can bill around then you're basically the sacramento kings or you're the even better than that you're the memphis grizzlies were caught consistently in the playoffs every year and candid bath past the second round what are you the los angeles clippers that have plenty of promised mccain advance past second round and this you couldn't advance pass the the first round so if you're if you're not in the draft lottery building a franchise building europe a building your team through the draft and you don't have a superstar urine purgatory so i don't blame the sixers in what they did i don't blame them for taking that approach l let's see if that works out for them and if it does you're going to see other teams join us as well or some form of it now now been done before but not as long as the sixers head but you'll see.
