I. N. "It's partly partly filmed that that feels most like I've seen this before is the tail I've seen told a thousand times as a young kid growing up falling in with the wrong crowd but it doesn't under the teacher trying Savin Moon. His mother is looking on a gas as her son goes down the wrong the wrong route in life but doesn't necessarily play out the way you you expect to play out and I don't think the bad guys quote unquote bad guys. NECE are necessarily two dimensional characters. There's there's attempts there to to certainly we give them a bit of a bit of backstories a few grace notes as well and that's why. I really really liked about it. I really liked the fact that it's it is unconventional. I think it's shot beautifully as well. the budget for this thing must have been really low but a move makes he shoots urban. London and a really interesting way he shoots the tower our block on which family lives makes it like a prison at times as well but there's some lovely touches inspire bankruptcy spike. Lee were you know he's kind of floating floating through the air cameras attached him and he's he's walking through school in certain state of mind. Shall we say there's there's a really really lovely elliptical touches as well lovely transitions between time periods as well which we actually called me and it's a really well acted film. I thought it's definitely worth worth your time and some of the woman the young kid tie. It's tie golden plays as a as a kid. He's terrific as well to me. is certainly someone. I think he's going to go places and very very any faster data yeah. I I think he's fantastic speed for the MAG for introducing slow and it does feel like he's sort of emerging talent just about to burst onto the scene. I already feel like you're going to be seeing him. Everywhere very soon. Forced US yeah we have. I really impressive. He's I think show Moon San Antonio only a both talent start really. I think you should watch out for yet are going to be on the scene for a long time. Indeed Lee Beasley Four stars in for the last tree hell of a week so far she will bring me quality down above the Goldfish sure. Let's turn all right this. This was our Schram. Helen isn't here because has read the book and therefore brings a whole new dimension to this intensely tedious and long term. I skipped the book partially because I think all books should be one or two things they should be the Steven King Book or they should Jack reacher in it or ideally both or both like under the Dome which mentioned richer yes. I have read the Book Burnings Review. The film is Jack reacher. Jack reacher is not injury. Stephen King did not write it one of my favorite books of all time it's a piece of work it's stunning and beautiful and emotional and heartfelt and surprising and interesting and also reading it. I remember member thinking. This probably wouldn't make very good film. That's very interesting because the film is none of those things why why would not make a good film well because it's very internal like basically all of the book is set in the brain of Theo the the the the lead character and you know it's it's INCR-. It's all about his interior not and that translates very badly onscreen all the time. I think that's a very hard book to adapt. Yes too hard. It seems yeah this is this is Donna tarts elephantine novel translated into two and a half hour movie so this this dust the young man you kind of loses his mother early on and Illicit Eliciting gained a painting of a bird which is exciting i John Crawley's adopted this for the screen and and you get to see him into slightly tedious time. Alonso Burghley pays him as a as a sort of a younger version an answer l. Go as he gets older but as you say I think the problem is and I find this literary fiction. It's not so much of it is a scripted so much of it is internal and unless you're GONNA go full interior monologue awful voice over and this does a bit to the US lots of that so theo comes across in the film assigned so I felt like you don't really understand what makes him take. You don't really get inside his head. You don't really know a lot about him. He feels quite thin character. which is a bit of a problem given that his character is the backbone of the entire book and this hops between the two the two time zones and it moves at a point slow pace which again I can see totally working in the book look but it also feels very reductive feels like this is a weird paradox because the film is too long because two and a half hours and it's really boring but equally it feels like Russia's things? It doesn't go into the character enough so you don't feel you get to know him well enough and I think this is one of those things. Where if you've sold it to Netflix is a ten part series. Maybe they medifast yes to this and maybe it could of words but as a film it doesn't I mean I don't need to give the king because every single critic on the Internet has already mauled the shit out of it. It's been famously. We salvaged from every direction savagely Goldfish yes. I've been ripping this Gulf in Japan but yeah unfortunately I. It's it's not goods. there are everything from dodgy. Russian accent too. I mean this guitarists Nicole. Kidman isn't the rest of the mother of a friend of his you take him in after his mother is killed old. Luke Wilson Patients Deadbeat Dad returns at one Sarah Paulson as step now now now it's actually leads from has a central Father Sarah Paulson his stepmother uh-huh he comes into great performances in that bar. It just doesn't hang together and there's you know there's the sort of quote unquote unrequited sort of. Oh come on unfulfilled shoes. I love interest. He has across the years pleading that feels a bit thrown away and unexploited Phil insubstantial. I think there's very little emotional engagement in in this film and this is why it comes across his boring because from a pure plop perspectives it you know not really happens it got into a weird espionage kind of Actiony pillory be at the end which is strange but run up until then it's very much the exploration of this boy's motive and it's an emotional journey except you don't see the emotions so you know all. I can say from this is rather than spend two and a half house watching their spend two and a half days reading the book and you'll probably have a better time. Wouldn't you agree on yeah. It's it's disappointing because the book is one of my as I say one of my favorites and John Crowley director his last film was fantastic the Brooklyn which was and that was really beautifully done and did not feel reductive. He really felt the characters you felt the story is more motion in that story for lot more happens and I don't rely quite so much of the interior tinkerings from someone's mind if it would have been better as a TV show if you like you spend Hebei miniseries like what Senator Jeff Flake a question we can perhaps explore on a later podcast when we have more time what is the longest book to be successfully adapted a single movie his isn't there a problem with lengths books and and and cinema as a whole you know yeah. Y- yeah it's very hard for me to go over three hours. Okay so is why the stand would never work as a as too much he's Williams. It had to be spitting. Two chapters lured ringed split into three some of the later. Harry Potter DOORSTOPS HAD TO BE SPLIT into two chapters as well same thing. Maybe a more judicious editor could've could've approach that may or may one movie but what's the longest I is there is there a couple of points for example is a six hundred pages seven hundred pages press discussing. Perhaps if you listen to this at at home you can tweet us and let us know what you think. The answer is. Maybe we'll discuss later podcast. Maybe there you go but the Goldfinch. I just done a bit of googling here. In the European Goldfinch. She is a small passer in bird in the finch family that is native to Europe North Africa and Western Asia and I'd say James. You didn't mention any of that reviews. You've been found wanting sorry Patou stars stars which is actually won the more generous reviews of this movie. I just had a quick look at it and disaster in shredding and all sorts of Hara words that mean very bad things it came up in my and my search so to stars end for the Goldfinch. Do not go see the bench very very quickly. We have two films to talk about one both of which you can watch the comfort of your own home one if you you have sky cinema and that is hotel. Mumbai which is a harrowing and I mean harrowing recreation of the Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai in two thousand eight which culminated in siege in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and this is a bit of an all star cast feels a bit of a Modern Disaster Movie Death Patel Army Armie Hammer Jason Isaacs people like that Jimbo. What did we think of this This is one of the works very very well in that tile it tells it's so upsetting an so harrowing and it's told so unflinchingly the IT works really well in recruiting events so there's an insouciance easy ants to the violence in this where people are just casually gunned down innocent people in this hotel and it happens with alarming frequency and then the camera moves on and someone else it gets killed and then that's intercut with moments of horrific just upsetting sadism light terrorists trying not forcing the receptionist to call rooms to tell people. The rescue has arrived so the door to the people who then shoot them. I mean it's really ready litany of horrific things. I think what's Ansi Mars who directed this festival director what he does very well with. This is get inside the heads off. I think more the terrorists than the victims so the victims come across as a little too too much. They'll have their moments and you have that disaster movies. That's up at the beginning where you see what they're doing how they will fit into each other's lives and is really hard hitting. This is an incredibly difficult watch. I think where this film may be. Slightly goes wrong is it too focused on the character level stuff and it never steps back and it never gives you a broader picture. You never really understand you know why it takes so long for the Indian special forces to get there. You never understand how this fits in to geopolitical world. It's very concerned with the three days. It depicts nothing really beyond that feels it. Limits film scope in doing that that said I do think it's film people should watch and I think it's you know in the mall sort of camera work so as you go through the labyrinth of the Ho- talents of watching people sort of hide from these people just roaming the corridors trying to kill him..

"Dallas Cowboys, and he is prone to making outlandish statements shoot from the lip statements that can wreck his football team because of the word that you love so much expectation he can just shoot them through the roof that used to be a hole in the roof at Texas stadium. But in this case, Jerry just spoke. A fact this is the all-time, duh to me, this is the most obvious statement in the history of obvious because clearly they're just going to be even better than they were last year. How can they not be better? Even better. They have won the division two of the last three years. And now, let's can we can't the ways Amari Cooper changed life than Dallas last year. Once we got through that nightmare debacle on that. What was it Monday night? Yeah. Tennessee, I still haven't quite recovered from that game. But they recovered and they went on a roll and they won the division, and they just stopped on those eagles. And they took Carson Winston school couple of times, and they won the division and they won a playoff game at home last year over Seattle. And again, they give two hundred seventy three yards rushing. They will plug those holes next time, which means they're poised to take the next step in the playoffs. Will it be NFC championship game or could it be Super Bowl? I not be shocked by pseudo. But Jerry did not say we're going to the Super Bowl. He didn't say that. He just stated the obvious Travis Frederick is a Pro Bowl center who will re solidify this line. As the best offense of line in pro football. And it just gets deeper by the draft because they drafted another kid out of Penn State, another Connor. Yeah. So again, I I really trust the line with Travis Frederick back at center as the quarterback the offense of line Jason Witten is going to return, and again, we'll he contribute that much on the field. But just in presence just in aura mystique just having Jason Witten as a coach on the field coach in the huddle coach in the move. Obey the end zone is he won't get the ball zone. I'll bet he will few times. And I keep telling you Randall Cobb is only twenty eight years of age, and he's going to take it up one level from what Colby's Lee, you better than beat lease Lee, Beasley, he is better. He's just more electric. He's he can he has better deep speed than Kobe's got a lot of tea, but he doesn't have that run. By you speed that Randall Cobb has he'll have new life new lease on life after he got out from under that finger pointing? Oh, they're laying off and Green Bay. That was not right. This is by Jerry and his cowboy don't take shots from a distant listen when players come later in their careers to America's team. It's like, I have rebirth. Robert Quinn will have rebirth in Dallas. He's only twenty eight years of age. He will help the pass had digits accents Wenski. Okay. And I told you he's going to find no lease on life. Ok George Lopez. Started only seventy nine NFL games..

"Of them with us. And so I just heard a promo from clay Travis in his bold prediction is that the patriots missed the playoffs. Crazy Bill crazy town. Was that rare coming from clay Travis? That he. Okay. You're saying crazy opinions or fluids come on, man. That's secret. Breaking news here. Always do always keep it real. Yeah. Well, that is true. You do that can't help it. So I asked the crew as a, hey, what's your bold, prediction and Lee says that a receiver will reach two thousand yards receiving this year season. Yeah. And I said who he's like anyone that's bold enough. I don't have to specify. Oh, you got. Hey, Jerry Rice, eighteen forty eight one year. I think another wide receiver could pass that if ever year that could be this season, you said two thousand two thousand who is the closest to do their mega truck. Eighteen forty eight. Well, Jerry Rice did of eighteen forty eight when you're right but mega mega trend was in the nineteen year. He was really close to two thousand right, right? Right. So. Yeah. So is there any mega Tron? De'andre hopkins. There's a Josh Gordon plays a full season. Okay. So again, I ask you are there any mega trans because there's only one mega truck actually this to mega John's, but. That one year played in Detroit. And I met him for the first time, and I should hand. And he looked me. I'd I as he six eight I'm looking at a receiver whose hands were bigger than mine. I see well. Who in the world? Who created Lord? You don't understand how that feels like as usually one of the biggest guys on the field to walk up to the received say we're in the huddle. Right. And we're in the huddle, and we're just looking at each other. I don't like lettuce. If I lose one hundred pounds. I could be him. Goodness, majoring dropping some weight being a wide receiver. Now, I had had. Remember, I was one hundred and eighty five pounds. I wasn't. Big at all. I didn't. That happened later you were one hundred and eighty five pounds at six five six five you realize I'm five eight number one seventy four thin, you're yes, I do know hyphen. Yes. I do. It's crazy. It's that's just what it was. What's your your bold prediction from you already know what it is that the forty Niners get to at least six and ten very you're going with you in the playoffs. Playoff or not as in the playoffs. Yeah. Man. I was off. I was almost off to a good start with my bold prediction that the eagles missed the playoffs as defending champions. But nope. No, Matt Ryan and and company couldn't get in in the red zone at the end of the at the ballgame. So didn't work out, man. Tough tough by the way, Julio Jones had eighteen seventy one in two thousand fifteen and Antonio Brown eighteen thirty four in two thousand fifteen as well. Okay. I mean, it's bold denying. It's a bold predict. It would have been if you're to put a name to the stat just throw a blanket stat out there and be like anyone who does it. Somebody does it. That's huge. That's out on a limb. That's like a quarterback throwing for six thousand yards in one season is like what are you talking about? Aaron Rodgers anyone anybody know anyone can do it. It's literally three people who have the do. Maybe. All right. I'll put maybe on Julio Jones Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon. All right. So you've whittled it down from the lead to three receivers. No Odell Beckham put the Andrea Hopkins in front of Odell, okay? He has a better quarterback right now. He does. Okay. So now, we got a bold prediction with three names attached to it. For more likely. More tap-in mil. Well, can I do tyreek hill all purpose? It's morphing. This prediction is more faith. It is really it really is growing. Now Kansas are getting better. You know, I like a bold prediction from Steve two Sager coming up next. I don't want to throw it on them right away. I want him to think about it a little bit. And we'll get his Bobo are you sticking with the Cowboys in Super Bowl. Cowboys hitting the Super Bowls my book, addiction, okay? That's pretty bold. Yeah. It is. We played pre-season looking pretty good for us. Right now. You have no receivers. But a single one you're going to run the ball. Yeah. Kobe's lee. Beasley still good Michael Gallup might be okay. As a rookie might be might be good for both predictions. I might hit the lottery tomorrow, right? Come on out. Michael Gallup might be. It's probably better odds that he's good than you hitting the lottery that is true. That is. Yeah. But it's it's it's the unknown. Your bold prediction is still like. See how everybody went bold prediction in a positive way. You're the only one that went Bo prediction in a negative way. Right. Miss the playoffs. I'm going eagles miss out. This is this is what I'm talking about. Be everyone is thanking everybody's thinking how everybody's thinking. Going up and and accomplishing something, and you're just tripping things away. No. You are. You're like the anti agent. Is that accurate would make you look good. And like, oh, hey this guy. Here's the positives. And this is what's really good. And here's a skill set. He'll highlight the attributes. Yeah, you're the anti-ageing the other guy you'll come in. You're like, here's a guy. I wanna tell you about this Debbie Downer over here. You look what he's doing this aspect and over in this aspect. That's how you get down. No shot. All I'm saying is every single person. Did we've mentioned on this show in the Steve omega. We'll see say something negative. But as of right now has anyone made a bold prediction in with the negative connotation towards it? What? The table. It's a yes. Or no. Not off the table was off the table. What I said everyone we've talked to so far. They're bowl prediction was something positive for team. You're the only one. Negative. Thanks, Mike is high. Let's see come off the Donut Donut downstairs. Think of a couple of just on the fly here. Okay. Okay. Tight end. I love Trey Burton in that Barisan. Vowel sounds positive here. Yeah. It's going to be positive Debbie Downer. I'll say top three and tight end touchdowns this year. Same realm as gronk Kelsey trade. Very how. Okay, top three and tight end. Also as far as rushing I love Alex Collins for a full season with Baltimore so easy top ten rusher. For the entire league. Alex Collins, those seem very positive very positive. I've been listening to one co host over another. I apologize. You said nobody. In in the arena with you may ask you a question here from CD's betting lines before the season. Yeah. Season win totals. You can't take the under you realize that you go to the betting window and just bet over for every team. Well, I don't go to the betting window if you work what if I were were to then. It would depend on the team, right? Right. So I would always road with you. Positives that you would take the under on. Argument example. Let's say the bills. Always always the number one be the Browns. Now, it's the bills about the bills. Have you see their season win total? I don't know the line in front of me. It's probably like around six and a half. Are you going to go over no king over? All. Right. But is that is that the line though? Oh, it's gotta be right there. When is it? We need to find you can figure that somebody to Lee find out what the line in this out. You should have it pulled up. You know, you know, you hit a little bit. Yeah. I mean, they go up and down. You know, he'll I can get it for you real quick. I'm saying it's a below five and a half. That's what it is. Go under go under there. Debbie downer. Reality air, you try to be positive on this show from and you're taking the Onder on the Bill. The difference is that's one thing. You come to the table with the with the doom and gloom. The majority of the time had a, geez, we had a celebration for the Kansas jayhawks. I put them in the spotlight. I just goes wrong. No, it doesn't what I said was the majority of the time. It's in the negative connotation with you. You do have positive. I think this point that you're making has a negative kind of how come I? I seem that way. Are we going to pay this tees off coming.

"They they. Worked all off season they were all there And participating set Terrance Williams. Who had the foot injury what what, do you think is the reason why this team offensively. More so in the passing game is taking a little bit, longer to gel the normally, I just say that even in practice it's been a little bit inconsistent for example in over the weekend like a Saturday. Night when the pats were on, some live action a little bit on the practice field. Which you don't. Get too much in training camp the the first team offense looked great in. Short yardage and goal line but then the defense got the better of. In the two minute drills but part of it. I think Jesse is that guys like Alan Hearns missed some time with a sore groin he is. Gonna play tonight you have Deontay Thomson speedster the free agent. That they signed an off season and and he's not practicing and, he's also not playing, tonight and that's because the. Sore achilles the other thing is they're using guys like a cave on? Austin Colby's Lee Beasley has. Been the the slow Guy, here with the Cowboys now he's getting some. Chances working from the, white, out position in Tehran Austin as well he's a little dude. Same sizes Kobe's five foot eight one hundred and eighty pounds and so you would think that he's. A slot guy but he's also they line them out up at the white out send him on a nine he looks good going down the field and has caught a couple of deep balls, so yeah I think it's just. A thing, where even though they've, had some time in the offseason like you said Terrence Williams because of the foot injury they just haven't, all been out there altogether at the same time. Kristie scales joining us from the sidelines the stadium less than two hours, before kickoff between the Cowboys forty dollars Christy what are the things you're, going to be paying, attention to tonight what are the things are gonna be looking for tonight.
