Juneteenth Becomes a National Holiday

"June 19th is now officially of federal holiday. You're gonna see me dancing in the street. I tell you, I'm so happy. I don't know what to do. That's 94 year old Opal Lee affectionately referred to as the grandmother of Juneteenth. She's pushed for the day to become a national holiday for years, and now it is at a White House signing ceremony, Li described a momentous day of June 19th. 18 65 General Gordon Granger, um, made his way. To Galveston, with some 7000 colored troops they were from Illinois was in New York, and he had and Red General Order number three. That said that all the slaves were free for slaves in Texas. The news that they were free came 2.5 years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation and two months after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at a town called Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia in signing the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, President Biden said the importance of this day must never be forgotten by making Juneteenth a federal holiday. All Americans can feel the power of this day and learn from our history. Celebrate progress and grapple. The distance. We come With additions we have to travel because, says the president, this is not just a day of remembrance and reckoning. It's a time to repair racial divisions. This is his day profound in my view, profound weight and profound power. Day in which remember The moral stain the terrible toll. Slavery took on the country. Everyday Business Storytelling with Janine Kurnoff & Lee Lazarus

"The difference between storytelling run. The mill selling is the run selling these days not these days but pretty much forever sales transmission based on look. Your job is to persuade somebody to buy your product. Thus there's only really one solution possible. And so i'm going to use persuasion a hammer to convince you that you need to buy this so why not. Just skip to the resolution because there's only one resolution that's it whereas instead storytelling and and my belief is my next book will the all about this is. We're really trying to influence the choices and trade offs that the customers make and persuasions not the tool to use for that so storytelling becomes a good way to approach it. I love everything you just. I know i was. I was hoping you were gonna say influence. When you're like storytelling helps. You influence the conversation. It's not pushing guideline and align right. And i think this is where janin's go manip- at this concept of this big idea that ultimately does help you differentiate yourself from the competition but it does it at a very strategic level. Yeah so and i'm going to tag him on that lee. Because we've got these four signposts right andy and it's in the book we spell it out really simply and to me. It's like giving people a common language. It's letting them learn how to speak a new language right. It's called story. And if we all talk the same language especially as we work in collaborate with teams it makes it a heck of a lot easier to put together narratives and iterating collaborate with others. So we take those four signpost but we kind of layer on because when you introduce conflict which is the third time post and by the way the first three can go in any order from it can be verbal. They can be visual when you introduce conflict in any narrative it creates tension in the room right the virtual room the physical room or the phone your audience all of a sudden your customers like okay. Hold the phone. You've just disrupted what i know to be true. You've just killed my status quo right. We say conflict is the status quo killer. But that's actually a healthy thing. It's a good thing it's a it's an essential ingredient in storytelling but with conflict comes discomfort and so to get your audience from discomfort to okay. I'm with you. I'm going to breathe again. We need what we call a mental

The Psychological Toll of Long-Term Unemployment

"Spent every single month since the start of this pandemic picking apart jobs numbers and unemployment claims. But there's a lot happening in the labor force that doesn't get captured in that data. Right like the toll that long term unemployment during a once in a lifetime pandemic can take and how that long term unemployment is creating less predictable back to work economy. Marketplace's kristen schwab has that one be. Lieberman's daughter has an auto immune disease so in the virginia. High school where she teaches computers and coding mandated. That teachers come back to work last august. she quit. I really thought i could find something. Even if it was part time employment. She applied to software companies that work with schools but she has no sales experience. She applied to teach spanish which she's taught before no bites job. That have nothing to do with computers or teaching like an hourly position at the dmv helped. You just have so much time with just your thoughts and it eats you up. Losing a job is already isolating says art goldsmith economist at washington and lee university and now there's the isolation of the pandemic itself that has created a lot of poor mental health more so in this recession and in previous recessions long-term unemployment changes how people feel about their worth is workers sarah damascus associate at penn state before the pandemic she followed people who lost their jobs by the twelve month mark they were describing themselves as having fewer and fewer john's that they felt that they were qualified for this can create a pattern. Someone gets job. Low their skill level or one. That has nothing to do with their skills. They're unhappy and leave or let go because they were never a good fit and then they're back out there searching. It's devastating for their career in the long run each time they scramble and find something in fail. They fall further and further

"Did you have evidence early on, Um, that you could share here? That you you knew that That was the likely theory. The lab Lee Dan. Thanks for asking about this. Yeah, it's been quite a year in that sense, uh, the the evidence we had in the spring of 2018, so I first started talking about this publicly back in The end of April. Beginning of May. The evidence that we had at that point was pretty clear but everything we've senses and has validated that the most likely solution we can't prove it. But the most likely solution is pretty straight forward that this came from the virology lab. They were conducting military activity there with a we know they were taking these viruses. For sure. We know they were taking these viruses and amping them up if you will called gain function research, making them more lethal, more transmissible. And we saw that back in the spring, And as as every piece of evidence began to turn up, we were going back. We were trying to convince our Chinese counterparts to come clean to fess up to help us understand. We're trying to Save American lives. You remember what the spring was, like, last year. We're all trying to get her hands around this thing and we were trying to get the Chinese government. When we could see who could see that everything around that lab was closing up. They were disappearing doctors that were getting rid of journalists they were destroying viruses. Everything seems to point in the singular direction of this being a leak from that laboratory, So we called it what it was based on that data and science that we had at the time. And then, of course, we're accused of playing politics. Nothing could have been further from the truth. In fact, This is pretty clear Now. These journalists have all said, Yeah, it turned out. It was Trump and Pompeo. So we had we had to try and undermine it. That's just that's dangerous and

Liberal Tries Defending the Media on Missing Major Scandals

"How is it that they keep screwing stuff up? I mean, we've had these major stories. Now we don't know the lab leak story to be absolutely true. I want to be clear, but the evidence is piling up that that is the most. Right now. The most likely theory is the lab. Lee. How does the media keep getting these stories wrong? You had the hunter Biden story, which, regardless of your feelings about Joe Biden, the hunter Biden computer stories real. There's an FBI case number. I read it on the air. Uh, you know, the spy gate story. You call it a hoax? All your mom. We know the name of the actual spy. Well, you know, in the media descend, the lab leak was promoted by a guy who lied more than any other president in the history of this country, So if not, it's important People remember that that Gave an extra skepticism. I have said on the air, though many times that a last week is absolutely something we should be thinking about as something that may have happened with covid 19 Not necessarily maliciously could have just been so many you know, uh, left the place with it on their clothes or contracted it accidentally within the lab, and it got out. And I have a feeling that's what we're going to find out happened, But, you know, you know, I saw you did that back. You slip that trump taking there, But I'm sorry, I I can't like I gotta stop. GOP Senators Claim 'Unequal Justice' in Capitol Riots Compared to Protests

"Justice must be administered equally. Republican senators demand answers for 2020 riots and Capitol Hill riot from Department of Justice. Group of Republican senators sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding answers regarding punishments for those who stormed the capital in January six and those who ride it over the spring and summer 2020. So the daily caller first obtained the letter, in other words, was leaked to them. Which was sent to the Department of Justice by these senators. Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz, Tommy Tucker Field at Tuberville. Excuse me, Mike Lee and Rick Scott. The letter, the group of Republicans Why only five? Let's 123 where all the rest of the Republican senators, every damn one of them should be signing this letter. In the letter, the group of GOP senators draw parallels between the treatment of the capital riders to the treatment of riders throughout the spring and summer 2020 and call for clarifications on punishment. At the spring and summer 2020. There were nonstop protests and riots after the death of George Floyd cities were set on fire in companies in small businesses were looted across the country. Republican senators Asked, among other questions, how many people were arrested for committing crimes during the 2020 spring and summer riots in federal law enforcement used Geo location data. For defendants cell phones to track riders down how many of the rioters were released on bail? The federal law enforcement utilized Geo location data from defended cell phones to track prosecutors associated with the unrest in the spring and summer 2020. If so, how many times and for what locations and riots? How many individuals who may have committed crimes associated with protests in the spring and summer 2020 were arrested by law enforcement using pre dawn raids and SWAT teams. These are damn good questions. But you only have 10% of the Republicans who signed this letter. Where's the other 50? Excuse me 45

"That doesn't appear naturally in this little viral computer code here, or I shouldn't say it doesn't appear natural. I said that on my podcast this morning, too. We have not seen it in nature yet. Comparing April 2020 Headlines About Coronavirus, Potentially Knowing It Was a Lab Leak

"Dr Fauci, is that a White House press conference? He's asked about the lab league theory on April 17th 2020. He cites a paper and says, Ah, I don't really dig this lab Lee theory. There's a paper coming out, he says. I don't really know the authors yet, but this paper is gonna refute this lab leak hypothesis. Well, as I asked before the break. Is this the paper? New England Journal of Medicine, escaping Pandora's box, another novel, Coronavirus. Cause you know what's really odd. The authors of this paper Peter Dash, AC Jeff Taubenberger and David Morin's one of the authors Peter de Shock since Fauci and email the next day after Fauci waves off the lab leak insights this paper and thanks him for doing so. And in the paper. They're pretty clear that quote implicates a bat origin. In other words, pay no attention to the lab leak behind the curtain, you idiots. You swear the story shockingly gets even stranger. So just six days after that press conference, Maybe we look weak. A little less. Maybe I don't want to nail it down to six is the fact that he was 6.27 days. Let's say around a week later after that press conference where Fauci sites, this paper authored by Dash AC and others who, Thanks, Pao chief reciting it. Just six days later. You see this headline The articles actually from May 11th, but quotes What happens. Headline Trump Administration cuts funding for coronavirus researcher jeopardizing possible covid 19 cure. So the media instead of wondering why Donald Trump, who probably got wind that we may have been funding gain of function deadly research at a Chinese bioweapons lab instead of saying, Wow, good job, Donald Trump That sounds like it could really suck for us. Of course. Scott Pelley had CBS 60 Minutes, which pretends to be a news magazine, which is quite hilarious. Of course. Their headline is about Donald Trump cutting funding for this researcher jeopardizing a possible cure, which is ironic because the vaccine happened under the Trump administration, despite the same media, saying the vaccine wouldn't happen. Regardless of your feelings about vaccines, those facts are

Did a Wuhan Lab Plot Biological Warfare?

"Is I don't want to be first. I want to be right. And I want to get as close to write on a story as I can. Maybe some details here and there later on, we'll have to go polish him up a little bit. If something changes will always make a correction if we have to, But I don't like to leap out in front of potentially explosive stories because you can be wrong and Given the history of fake news media people I'm not going to be one of them. But I've been sitting on something for a couple days have been gathering information, and I'm not over selling it when I tell you that it is absolutely mind blowing Let me just get to the bottom line up front. And then we're going to walk through and I'm gonna make a case for you Just don't go anywhere the whole three hours. I'm just asking you for a personal favor. Please don't go anywhere because I'm going to need you to hang around for this. Bottom line up front. They're a criminal investigation going on into the lab leak origins and a potential cover up. Mhm. Oh, that's not it. You may say that sounds pretty serious. Some of you may have heard that some of you may have never heard that before. Not just as there are criminal investigation going on into a potential cover up. Don't worry. I'm gonna produce you. I'm just throwing this out there here. I'm not just tossing this out there anyway, so I waited. But secondly Is the lab. Lee cover up that there may be a criminal investigation into Are they covering up the creation? Of a bioweapon. By the Chinese government. Yeah. Whoa, t. Oh, baby time out. Time out. It's not a 22nd, either. We're taking a full time out. That's a really Whole thing to say. It would be if there weren't very prominent people who had access to sensitive information in the coronavirus task force who are kind of floating that idea right

That Time Sean Hannity Gave Dan Bongino Advice on Hiccups

"True story. The great Sean Hannity gave me a trick. I'm not name dropping. Hey, we could be. I cooled him. No, no, no, I'm not kidding. He called, he said. Really, really solid, dude. Called all the time he was always like. You know? Hey, man, how are you doing? And I told him about the hick up thing, And he's like, Listen, I've been in this talk radio business forever. Hiccups. It's a real problem. Right, Jim? How are you gonna do a show? Hiccup? It'd be weird. He's like Take a glass of water. And drink it upside down. I'm like what? How the hell do you do that? He's like the fluid will come out of the other side of the cup because you were upside down. He said. I'm telling you what, folks I don't know. I'm not messing with you. That was the on Lee thing. That stop my hiccups. The only thing drinking water upside down. Try it.

"Off the fouts There's a lot more rotary and and Friendship that not many people realize and that's kind of what really brings people continually back to this game is is not so much the same way. It's not so much the celtics are gonna win that night. It's about going to the game going to the the the event in having the time of your life. Saint people haven't seen in a while catching up letting loose for a little bit. Obviously playing some cards toss chips around but at the end of day you know win or lose relieving you know with new members in saying that was an awesome. Yeah and i think that you know. Give yourself a lot of credit. I've talked with a lot of people. Obviously i'm heavily involved in the media and for you to be named or for the tour to be named mid major tour circuit of the year two years in a row I said you but it is that it is at because yes you know one of the great things that you do is. We have a lot of the ambassadors. Come in. we're all using our social media to really kind of get this hype up such a great idea but so many people talk about how you are walking around and and a lot of the tours you don't see the face of the company around. They may be. There may be in the corner working. You know this is no discredit to the wb circuit. There is no some. there is no such thing as that there was no owner walking around. But you're always there. You're always around your either giving shots at some of your talk somebody or whatever it may be and that brings that family aspect and i think the of the embassador as well speak highly of my teammates. They are really good. A steph van. Everyone's all jovial and gung ho and we're all talking. And i think that what i hear a lot about is that it is just a party and it's so much fun and it's something that i used to do with blake ation. We do still every once in a while. You don't focus on the turnament so much but you focus on the experience and that's really what the run good poker series is. It's about the experience about having funds about your friends. Don't get me wrong. I'm not gonna forget winning the inaugural event it was. It was a great day. It was one of those great moments in my career. But i look forward to going to the events. Not because i'm thinking. Oh i can't wait to win another but more i can't wait to hang out. I can't wait to have fun and so for people who haven't experienced a run good poker series. Should it's a great event lower by ins. But the main event significant money i mean tens of thousands of dollars in. You're not gonna rip up the check if you went. Trust me so Definitely great serious testimony to you Tana for doing such a great job and so many people compliment you With regards to it when we come back we're gonna talk more with tana about the return of poker for the run good poker series in twenty twenty one and also a little of what he did in this covert pandemic year and kind of what. "So. Yes, if you were to come over to my house I, would ask you to wash your hands during this this cove in nineteen situation and hopefully that will stick with you even after it's long gone because again, washing hands really does prevent a lot of colds, and so that is my tip for you I wish and hope that you're safe. You're well. You're not sick and that if you need to figure out how to make Santana sanitizer. That's how to do it now. You may be asking yourselves or me. Saint Lee why why? Why make your own sanitizer? So the reason I created my own version of hand. SANITIZER is because I cannot stand the consistency of the stuff that comes in the pump I just. Don't like it. It's squishy and. And so if I have to use it, here's what I do. Here's another tip so if you have to use the squishy pump hand sanitizer, put it in a Napkin. I and rub it into the Napkin like take two sides of the NAPKIN. Rub it into the Napkin and then wipe your hands off with it then it's not so squishy Nikki in my opinion. But again the best way is to actually just wash your hands and I could go on and on, but I think we've been inundated about corona virus, so I'll leave it there. I would like to share a shout out. That was given to me via house of Lee NYC Dot. com you can go there. Leave voice memo, and so I met up with dawn from I three bliss dot net, and so she left me a message. We met in the elevator. Actually she's got a creative intuition course at her website I, three bliss dot net, and again that is again is in letter I three the number, three bliss, or you can go to. The Bliss Dot Net, actually just go their intrinsic bliss dot net, and you'll meet dawn and to check her out anyway. Let's have a listen to what she has to say. Highly, this is dawn, so I was. Listening to your podcast and I thought it was really interesting that you thought that you said that I could go to your website and leave you a voice message, so this sounded pretty cool to me so I'm checking it out now and I'm leaving him a voice message I just really enjoyed listening to the episode where you talked about the book that you're reading. About basically embracing another you know I identity, or what have you on? That really resonated with me, so I'm glad I took that one, and you have such a nice radio, voice. So. Anyways, I hope you how to save travel back. Hope you have an awesome day. Thank you don for that..
