"It's just that we're also in a weird period here because of the pandemic and win the nba. Schedule how deep. It's going into the summer guys who needed to rehab guys who had other commitments. Whatever it is so we you know th they lost some key figures along the way. You throw lebron steph curry on this team and maybe we're looking at a completely different picture. You throw hardened end you know whoever pick your pick anybody kyri like it might be very different but the bottom line is is is chemistry as you note it is it's about chemistry and lack thereof and all the talent in the world if it doesn't cohere cohere then then you're going to lose to less talented teams and so that's the predicament. They find themselves in but there is still time to kind of figure this out. There's there's time for the three guys who just came from the finals to acclimate to new time zone and get settled in. There's time for popovich and his staff to figure out the best possible combinations and rotation here you know i. I look at data. Certainly they had some trouble scoring but they also have trouble stopping france. And i look at the possibility of an old defensive alignment anchored by kevin durant. Who's one of the greatest scores in nba history or in basketball history. You could put out there together. Kevin durant bam auto bio jeremy grant. Who didn't play against france. But who's a great three. Andy player and versatile defender. Chris middleton is a great defender and drew holidays. A great defender. You could put out there. A suffocating defensive versatile lengthy mobile lineup that could still score a ton and maybe they've had the chance to kind of get into that kind of experimenting yet or figuring out which five man unit can be most effective at a given time. Because this team just hasn't been together that long but that is part of the problem as you note these other teams. France have been playing for your spain australia argentina. They got a lot of the same guys coming back. I'm not sure. I wanna see slovenia. Either after luca went for forty eight and thirty one minutes. I mean good god man so it's formats it like it is tough there are warning signs clearly but they're gonna player on next by the time people here. This may have already played them or that. Maybe that's on tuesday or wednesday so iran's time it's like well wednesday it's like eastern time at twelve forty in the morning. It's whatever watching that one. You know they'll win that one most likely if they lose that when you the by all means sound the urgency pot three and emergency. I'm not answering. Yeah i look. I take your point i just i think a week is. It's not a lot of time to kind of figure. Things out and booker middleton holiday just enough plane on sunday morning. I'm sure they've been studying the offense last couple of days..

"Guys. I'm a bit baffled. That in the brian steph have driven ratings board. Lebron is popular and polarizing and look polarizing. Some love you some hate you but usually that means they'll watch you look it up floyd mayweather something like that. And it has it translated from the brian. What i would guess when you compared michael jordan and the way he drove ratings to lebron. Is that jordan's game was so much prettier right. His game was so much more graceful. It was just beautiful to watch him. Play the game of basketball now. Lebron in some people's eyes is just as effective. But he does it a different way. And it's not as fun to watch now steph. On the other hand i would think is closer to jordan. It's smaller player. Shooting threes changed the game. Great ball handling. I would've thought people really wanted tune in to watch steph. So i'm a big baffled by having driven in the fact is they have. Let's have this philosophical conversation. I've had with marcellus before. I think outside of addressing groom. I'm not gonna blame this on the brian and steph. Because what we know is this right. Now tv distractions the market is more saturated than ever with content sale. Correct me if i'm wrong. I think it was you who were having this conversation with me. And i think it was telling me that will never be another michael jackson and there will never be another michael jackson. Not necessarily because of talent. My dog marcellus please along with not necessarily because of talent alone but the fact of the matter is we just didn't see michael jackson and there weren't a lot of distractions. It was michael jackson. Eddie murphy michael jordan. There wasn't a lot of competition. there wasn't twitter. There wasn't instagram. There were bloggers weren't youtubers. There wasn't netflix or wasn't who luna word streaming it was just as all your primetime entertainers. You're trying time sports. You didn't even get to see taco tuesdays. And what they were doing. You saw michael jackson. It was just like you saw god because you only ever see michael data on the two. I don't know if it lebron steph. Just aren't that captivating gore lebron steph have to compete with war competition than ever as far as eyeball watchers and as far as viewers. We might be careful what we wish for because we go look back at the end of this ratings and wonder just how. Many people are tuned into the bucks and the sons. So i just throw that and more soul of knowledge in there because broussard. I don't want to blame something on lebron steph. When if we look back. I don't know maybe sheer coincidence. When was twitter founded. I believe two thousand seven when lebron played the spurs. I believe two thousand seven. I'm not gonna say that. Twitter is the exact reason why lebron didn't have that but i will say when did blockbuster start to fall to net flicks. I believe it was two thousand. Six two thousand seven when lebron and the cast later spurs. I believe it was two thousand seven. I just think some of these are also just happens. Dance as opposed to bits on the brian in. It's on steph. I think that's fair in that. That's certainly a part of it. There's no denying that. However when we talk about michael jordan and we are talking about cable television existed. It wasn't obviously like today. But we're not talking about going back to the seventies and eighties. Maybe where there were three channels. You know where you had to watch. Abc nbc or cbs. So i get what you're saying. And i do think that's part of it. But that doesn't account for all of it and so it look the viewership shares which is the percentage of television sets that our own that are viewing. The nba are higher than they've been this playoffs since two thousand and two two thousand and three. That's that's incredible to me now. Granted a lot of people are watching it on their phones and stuff today but still the percentage of. Tv's that are owens. That are watching nba basketball in. These playoffs have been higher than ever since two thousand and three. That's saying a lot is saying a lot of. It's also saying that. Michael jordan is different bro. Michael jordan is a top four nba series finals. Five of the top six and number nine of the top ten now to point tremendous point. I made it to them. Outside of address room longtime ago he echoed is real. We're not as enamored would are stars as we once were in part because we used only see him perform and then jumped into a limo and then perform again like that was it. We didn't have all of the personality that colored the entire picture fewer channels as well. I'll give you all of that but if you look at the bottom ten rated finals. They don't have the same disparity top ten rated finals. They stop at the nineteen ninety eight bottom team. You go back to nineteen eighty nine thousand nine hundred eighty one at even last year so it covers the entire range in terms of our viewing experience with kind of undermines. We were talking about it. The dressing room. Something's going on. But i know what if lebron or steph going on. Not everybody's interested crazy coming up y'all just upgraded to questionable for game one tonight. Should we be concerned. The books rushing the two time. Mvp back that's next. Don't speak for your sad. Jaanus has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable tonight with a hyperextended left knee reports. Say he is quote going to fight tooth and nail to be in the lineup asunder favored by six points at home game. One according to fox bets fourth book. Chris bussard back with us. Marcellus worry the bucks are rushing. Janas that no. I'm not worried at all Speaking from experience. I had hyperextended knee before. And you honest you don't have to fight tooth and nail to come back you need to fight ice and still bring your book back. All it takes is to reduce the swelling and deal with the level of pain. Think about it when you hyperextension knee and you obviously put that pressure on your joints. You stretch it out your muscles. At least structurally. He was fine so they're intact your bones. Strong darren tech so now is just about less reduced the swelling so therefore you can have a level of pain that you can manage and go out there and perform now. The pain in your body is always telling you what hurts and how much it hurts. It's funny people always thinking like. Oh can i play or not this until you're paying your paying to tell you exactly because if tell you exactly what your body is feeling and going through so you're not telling your pain anything you're paying is leading that monologues. All i know of janas does come back. We've all heard this before from doctors. Well if you come back the chances of you risking further injury is minimal in this one. They're actually telling the truth. They lied the k. d. when they get it wrong in this situation you can't get it right because he would not be able to even participate if the level of pain swelling as too much. So if you see him out there is because he can manage it and it can go out there and perform. Oh no no no. No no what they do know in. They are rushing. Kim back and it is going to be to the detriment of the bucks and the detriment of the entire organization. Why do i know that. I'm looking at the past. What happened when the lakers rushed. Bet what did they give them. Six minutes no points. One rebound one assist what happened when the nets rush. James harden back game five against the same bucks. What james harden give forty five minutes over eight from three one for ten from the field five points in forty five minutes. They are robbing peter to still not pay. Paul and peter and mass going to be a problem if you rush on his back. You're gonna rob game one to still not be able to pay game tour game three back that a matter is this. The lakers lost a game. Came in and played six minutes left. The nets won the game. The james harden played those forty five minutes but not because james harden they wanted despite james harden they want it in spite of james harden they want because katie dropped forty nine seventeen and ten if the bucks are to win this game they would be winning it because of middleton not because of a hobbled yana saturday cuneo. Don't rush him back. Don't rob peter particularly if you can't pay paul anyway. Just let him chill and play game to game. Three.

"Kevin arnovitz how you doing man. I'm well how are you. i'm good. I'm kind of preemptively overwhelmed. Kevin because i'm looking at the schedule for the nba playoffs four games. Saturday four game sunday and then it sort of continues on forever as this thing tends to go. Are you already overwhelmed or you cited. Where are you emotionally. I'm well-named excited. I neither some great first round match up. So i. I think it's kind of a more interesting season. I think kevin arnovitz has covered the nba for espn. Since two thousand and eight and he has a steel trap of a basketball memory. So i wanna start with game. That is still stuck in my brain. Kevin and we had this moment where the nba even as it is variously. Well-named was sort of all gathered around television watching the same exact thing. And i'm talking about the lakers. And the warriors and what. They did on wednesday night. Because lebron steph were certified filling every kind of dramatic potential that we hoped for them to meet. James drives onto scotto anderson tax at home curry reverse with the english class. Had lebron hitting an enormous absurd prayer of a thirty four. Footer puts up the three expires after which he admitted that he was seeing like three rims. Because he'd been poked in the eye by draymond he may have been plagiarising rocky four in the process but he wins the game that way. The whole thing was insane. And what i want to ask you about. Kevin is what you thought. The phoenix suns were thinking when they were watching that game unfold. I think phoenix is oddly. Confident like i. Obviously you run a great risk when you draw. Lebron james and anthony davis but i sort of liked the way. Phoenix is approached. This whole thing

And then I'm thinking I'm gonna do Will grant get a touchdown. That's like two to want things that don't matter really. Maybe a little more. It's not so And then, um, And then will there be a special teams? Just so it's fun? I think I gotta return. Go to safety this year. Hmm. See anybody going away? Trying to safety safety is always a long shot. Thank you, Danny. Never no pun over the head. You step over the head, you know, Safety for the first score is usually crazy, like 45 or 50 to 1 and it hit a few years ago. Whatever Denver Denver Let's see. First play the game, wasn't it? Yes, I don't know. It was the first place was that opening drive? That's right. I think it was first offensive, and I'm like, Whoa that went back. Quick, that stuff. It wasn't a bottle. Still, he was so confident the Broncos we're gonna win that game and within, you know, his loss of Peyton Manning Chorus line, and it's in Sylvie was drunk and Waddell's house by the end of the second quarter, the silver gets blinded by his love or hate for certain athletes. It's like the LeBron Steph Curry thing You know he made today, guys. He admitted that he was blinded like his objectivity went away because of his hatred for LeBron at that time, by the way, one of the six eights that have come in as a final I left only six out of one. Wait. I love the sheet and I said sheet in my office. I apologize. I don't have The special times defensive odds. It's in my office that they don't have. You've got to five or eight year pulls. Special teams defensive touchdown You get, plus 2 to 1 on your money for Yes, Minus 300 for no. "This is a piece I wrote in mid twenty eight teen and it goes back and talks about my belief as Philadelphian fan and trusting the process. So here we go. Trust the process. As a native Philadelphian, and huge basketball fan. I fully agree with the seventy Sixers fans rally cry trust the process even the players such as Joel Embiid have echoed the sentiment of fans. He loves saying during the home games. So for those not in Philly and not too familiar with NBA trust the process just explains the seventy Sixers rebuilding process under former seventy Sixers GM, Sam hinkie. And if one simply goes to Google types in trust the process, you're going to see an image of Sam hinkie on the front page. And so in SAM's mine, as well as many who watched NBA, a valid theories to win a championship, you just need a superstar player coaches can help but superstar players are the most important, you might say, well, what's the evidence for this? So what I do they say, consider since the nineteen eighty three season happens to be the last, seventy Sixers championships? I list eleven players who. Had multiple championships. It's Larry Bird. Magic Johnson Isiah Thomas. Michael Jordan allies, Lon. Tim Duncan Shaq Kobe, LeBron Steph and Katy, the only three missing championships in from nineteen eighty three until now was the four pistons, which, again was a great defensive team with five really good players. The await Celtics had the big three of G Pearson, Ray Allen. And it's eleven Mavericks were Dirk took down LeBron in his first finals as a heat. So what you can notice is that all of the eleven players I just listed they accounted for thirty two of the past thirty six championships was around ninety three percent. So where does trusting the process come into play with regards to the seventy Sixers? Right. So examining this from the seventy Sixers perspective. Let's go through steps when. A championship goal. Right. So your goal is one when championship second. What's the process in logic? Well, they're logic at that point. Time was to intentionally lose essentially in order to increase the probability of getting high draft picked will. Why would you do that? While remember that ninety three percent of championships went superstars and superstars generally get selected higher in the draft. So by doing this, it's giving you a hard chance of getting a superstar, and then the third part, which is the rallying cry is trust the process. Right. So the seventy Sixers fan during this multiple seasons of losing came up with a slogan of trust the process in kind of became a rallying cry. So this is mainly an investing podcast, so hell in the world is trusting the process apply to investing. Well, are there any parallels?.

"Get in the lane, you'll get a floater like he's, he's an extraordinary solution player and it just it I looked up those numbers today because it was fun to see him be like I just got a score like I'm gonna fix toward the pig. I'm going to go the other way just gotta score and he can do it. He's completely capable. I mean it's just even Steph, I just feel like I mean, we watched them do we watch some just kind of burn a couple people with the dribble, which you can do. He can get around people. I just feel like even when you think about how easy it would be to just say, okay we're throwing a second third personnel. We're gonna make them go through all this help level. Defense. When guys around of shots. Mean that's why they lost between that and the defense we said when, when you're getting forty seven out of step, but then you're giving up more than one hundred twenty on the other side. That's what it turns into. But like I said, it's always been fun to watch the guy play offense. I don't know. I I'm gonna point I understand the idea that people don't see him as the best player in the world because of what he may not be able to do on the other side of the ball. But in terms of his offense of skill and kind of how clearly and you know. Oh hardness the best offense a player in the world. Durant is the best offense play where LeBron Steph has to be in that conversation. Because when you talk about why he's not the best player in the world to me. I feel like you have to put more at the lack of versatility that he has on defense compared to the other guys. That's not what interesting because Ben Cohen wrote that piece for the Wall Street Journal about his plus minus over the last five years. And we all we've all knowing that the warriors with him on the now. It's hard to like he's on the floor. Draymond lots dream second in the rankings. But, like there's just something he's doing, and it's obvious what it is that has power that is not being captured by more traditional metrics, and it's such an overwhelming power that. It turns them into his super team, regardless of what his alleged defensive limitations are now. Like you just look at what collided the hones-. I mean like Steph, can't do that. You can't weaponize Steph that way on the other end of the floor, and it's, it's become fashionable. And I think correct to say that on the superstar level offense is more important than defense because you can affect every single possession offense and you can't on defense because maybe they don't involve you and all that. But I've, I've, I've, I've changed my belief or less four or five years at it's the when you're evaluating individual players like that defenses half the game. That's what I used to believe. It's not quite that. But I think it's closer to half the game than some other people would suggest because you look at what like you know who impacted every defensive possession coil, Leonard right in the conference finals, he impacted every single in that, that he would have been your MVP up there isn't. Yeah. And so it is possible. Steph, just can't do that. But to me, the best offensive player in the NBA is Steph, LeBron like above heart and above whoever else, you want throw in their above Janas like it Steph or the LeBron. We saw before last season in Los Angeles. Those are the two best offense players. And my forgetting someone I'm not sure anyone belong else belongs in the conversation. I mean anybody who's putting co and that conversation, it's because of his all round game at and then like I said, I feel like why just off. I'm just talking during Iran, Iran. Still forget. Yeah. Like Durant is different..

For trae sitting next, Mike Golic golick junior. So, you know, obviously, we've got Memorial Day weekend. Yes, we do. I mean it's missing Letterman the only person. L I IT's. You might also consume sports. My question is, do you believe on Monday morning? When golick and wingo comes to air, there will still be an Eastern Conference final going on. Will we be talking about the NBA finals man? I, I wanna believe it goes seven, but I've been wrong on the last two, I thought Milwaukee win their last game Toronto thought they will win last night. In the way they started out. I thought I was going to have fun flipping through channels finding something else to watch a long with the buck, kicking was gonna watch in Toronto comes back and wins that one. So I wanted to. But man, I, I don't know the way Toronto's playing the way they've kind of figured out what Milwaukee can and can't do. And the way Toronto is going to Fennelly and at home. I think it's going to be over wrong last time. So if I continue my streak obviously there's game seven I picked Toronto in this series obviously Milwaukee was gonna go back home win last night. I didn't see this coming in the more we've seen the frustration of Yannis defensive. Has been consistent and Leonard despite being physically ravaged at this point. I feel like it's still getting done. Like I just think Toronto finds a way to do this for the rest of the supporting cast they've stepped up in a way Kyle Lowry, especially that. I was not ready for you said, physically ravaged, and it's funny. It hasn't been enough of the conversation. They're not telling us anything about Coa Leonard supposedly there's no injury. Right. Right. But he turns around he's walking back to the free throw line. And he's got a noticeable, limp. He's favoring leg. There's no two ways about it. And he still absolutely crushing everybody. Like, it's I feel like we're gonna find out long after this runs over that there's something wrong. And then we're even going to appreciate this more because the level of dominance getting into the lane one legged it's standing, which I think, again, is gonna disheartened San Antonio fan for what went on last. Right. Right. You know, and where I think it was obviously an injury and the mistrust that they had that had a lot to do with it. But still a lot of going wait a minute injury that lasted a lot longer. Andrew luck feel where we kept wondering why the description of the injury didn't match the time line of, how long was out and so time to come back. He was like, what am I gonna come back for you guys? All steered me wrong. No. That was the first time we saw Leonard act up and part of me. Glad we did because maybe it'll make us appreciate the postseason effort. We're seeing now can we acknowledge? Though, there are handful teams across the NBA that wanna know what that limps about because this is this whole Colli run is cute. It's fine. It's awesome. Maybe he went to championship. Maybe he just gets the finals, and maybe that's enough to keep him in Toronto. But there, there are a handful teams in the league that are putting together, whatever it takes to get collided. I'm there. So there's keep an eye on it saying, maybe we can find out, you know what? Let's put it this way. Coming off the San Antonio thing, because Leonard, so tight-lipped we didn't know how he's going to be after injury and who still blew up their entire current roster. Go ahead and get him Toronto. And it says, everything to how good qui- has been that frankly the conversation about what happened in San. Antonio has just died. I mean he essentially took his own destiny into his destiny into his own hands, which is rare for athlete to be able to do he did not put himself back in that situation, forced his way out of team. All of these, if he comes out and plays poorly, we are just piling on, but he's played so well, we don't even talk about San Antonio. What happened there anymore? It's that chapters closed, and we've moved onto mazing how we talk about collectors. Look at other stars of the league you have Joel impede what a monster he is the Greek freak and what he can do. Lebron is LeBron Steph with three hard with the step back. Three drank shot, wherever he wants to get a shot. Ally. Is coin collide. Does whatever he needs to, to be great. Whether it's a pull up jumper, whether it's take it whether to whether it's dishes, nine assists, all going threes, or whether it's locked down on defense. It's amazing. I said this last night on Twitter. Him de'andre Hopkins in the NFL are very similar to me because you can make a strong argument this point that both of them are the best at what they and they don't get that credit and they don't get that recognition because not only do they not act up in the way that most Hooper stars do say anything. One time I tried to say something he laughed. And then we all made fun of say anything ever again. That's on us. I mean let's be honest here. If you had to flip the two superstars if you took Colli in this series and put them on the bucks and put Yang and put them on the raptors I'm still going with whatever team, he's on. He's he is absolutely been thing that is taken this entire series over. I mean as much as we talked about Kyle Lowry over the course of the day in the supporting cast for the bucks. And what everybody else has to do. This is simple. Coa Leonard is out playing Jaanus onto both ends of the floor making all of the difference. And he's doing it in a lot of ways with even less support than the bucks are giving us. He's been the focal point of the bucks defensive effort in much the same way the difference is you have a guy who's? A final MVP who's been through the rigors of playoff level defense that Tim Legler described to us is different because you've got time, you've also got very capable defenders Toronto has, but you've got the time to kind of set this thing up and Kawais been through that he knows how to respond to that, we've seen the benefit of that experience he has along with obviously the collective effort defensively, but I keep going back to what Tim Legler said earlier and check it out on the podcast, if you missed it, he used the word exposed Jaanus has been exposed, not by somebody figuring out to play great defense. He's been exposed by Kawai figuring on a plate defense. And now I feel like we're watching two great players one on one once figured the other out and the other has no idea how to break through that. And the one team the one guy getting better help from his bench. Thirty five points last night to fifteen in favor of Toronto. They had thirty five thirty eight points in the last game off the bench. So he's getting done in his in his help getting don't you give that baby? Vanfleet any credit does Bucknell along the Fred, not. The word van bleeding looking into ram come on shoot in the gym. He was is incubating birds. Thoughts. Right. Talk about sweet Lord. I I'm trying to make this end the NBA game. Six tomorrow. Eight thirty on ESPN radio. Thanks for hanging out with us. Have a great weekend. Hey, good morning and welcome in to the.

"Neither of those two LA teams in the clippers are lock closer, obviously with a forty eight went team and cap space, there a lot closer to being something to being what Toronto is what's Ronald there. And I say the headlines Ronald gotta deal with something like a wide Leonard because he's the best player Neil. He's the best player in this series limping around. On one leg. He's the best player in this series. They're going to have to really have some effort by the walking on the road in Toronto in game, six to not Toronto out of this thing and get them back here for game seven quite Leonard right now the four seems to be with him even if he struggling on knees and quads and all these ailments. He's got going on in the box score in the final analysis. He doesn't seem to be struggling very much at all that six game as Saturday north of the border, one other no Packers lineman. Dave. David bacteria was back beer chugging courtside joined by a pair of local MVP's. Neither Packers quarterback. Aaron Rodgers nor brewers outfielder Christian yelich could down their beers at the same pace of the Packers offensive tackle, more NBA, Janas, and James harden, unanimous selections to the all NBA team, though, max Kellerman, have this strong take on the beard, as a first teamer when you're taking harden, you can have money team, the Greek freak available. You want hard katie's available. Do you want harden, Kawai? Lebron Steph, tell me when you're taking hard over one of those five guys, the answer is you're not, and you know, it I was going to be sitting here this time this year saying he flipped the script.

He's the best player in this series. They're going to have to really have some effort by Milwaukee on the road in Toronto in game six to not Toronto out of this thing and get them back here for game seven Leonard right now. The four seems to be with him even if he's struggling on knees and quads and all these ailments. He's got going on in the box score in the final analysis. He doesn't seem to be struggling very much at all that six game is Saturday north of the border, one other no Packers lineman. David bacteria was back. Beer, chugging courtside joined by a pair of local MVP's. Neither Packers quarterback. Aaron Rodgers nor brewers outfielder Christian yelich could down their beers at the same pace. Of the Packers offensive tackle, more NBA, Janas, and James harden, unanimous selections to the all NBA team, though, max Kellerman, had this strong take on the beard, as a first teamers me when you're taking harden, you can have your team the Greek freak available. You want hard k D's available. Do you want harden? Lebron Steph, tell me when you're taking harden, over one of those five guys, the answer is you're not, and you know, it I was going to be sitting here this time this year saying he flipped the.

Lebron Steph covers proven re he's the two time MVP he's been fabulous. But I wanna give shut up to Steve Kerr and his coaching staff because they got guys on the bench who have come into game going back to game six against Houston, and played fabulous. And that's the coaching staff. It lets me know when they're not playing games. They're working with those young players. So though, to two things that stood out to me doing this four game winning streak against the blazers and being the rockets in game, six Charles, you liked Portland, all year. A year. And even this week, they had double digit leads in the last three games. I mean, clearly they weren't scared the warriors, but they couldn't close. What did you see? Why couldn't they close any of those games out? Mike. I'm not gonna watch. I was very disappointed the trailblazers. I picked him to get to the finals to have three double digits lose lease and lose those games that can't happen, but was more disconcerting to me dim getting swept. You know, one thing, I'm very proud of I never got swept in a four-game series. You gotta have guys on your team. At least one guys that we're not gonna get swept. You can lose the series. But you can never give swept that tells me some stuff going on, they're not mentally tough enough Charles you. And I of course are here in Toronto for tonight's game four with bucks. And raptors can you see for a second straight game? Toronto's defense with all that double teaming ill led by Leonard keeping Janas having a mediocre game again tonight. Do you see it happening again? Well, I think it's going to be interested in night because of the double overtime game Kawai looks like he's a little injured to me to raptors. Do not have the depth to complete compete with the bucks. I think is going to be very interesting. How they come back physically from a double overtime game. I really want to run toe to win the game tonight. I would love to see a six seven game series to sit on this over out west of amendment. I think just walking that line of of reminding of stuff that like, I experienced Robert ory hip checking Nash into a scores table and Boris Amari take step on the floor. You know, we all remember LeBron Steph and over dream on and, you know, the reaction like this that reminder of the history of our league. And it's my job as coach to share that sort of information..

"They talked who you'd start your team with now, you're a former guard. Yes. And. A slot receiver just won the MVP and Super Bowl. We didn't have him fifteen years ago, and they certainly weren't winning MVP and the Super Bowl that for a lot of reasons some analytically slot receivers because because teams don't want their quarterback doing seven step drops and getting hit. So get rid of the ball fast slot. Receivers are big the NBA. When I grow up was a centre league it is. Now a guard wing league can't hand check. Right. So the players were asked who would you start your franchise around? Not only do they put James harden in a tie for tenth Nash, which is dumb. Not only do they put Steph curry in sixth which is just dome. It's just disrespectful. They put Anthony Davis. Second and timeout. Gets her regularly off series victory. Seven years in the league. Not really a leader. Again, gets hurt. A lot doesn't control the ball. And not a great three shooter. Like am. I nuts on this. No players are massively overvaluing Anthony Davis, and you see there, and I like a size in that list. They clearly overvaluing Davis. He's a great player. But to start your team around not necessarily staff. This is why this list is why Steph curry is going to benefit when Kevin Durant leaves this lie because Steph curry before K D goes to Golden State Steph curry was he had become the face of the league. The brand took it back when they won that championship before year and a half step with the face of the league. And it would have been a great rivalry between not only the warriors in the Cavs. But LeBron Steph to see who's the face of the NBA, but Steph was on pace. Tim Legler are former. Colleague at the old network. And we have great respect for him. He was saying Steph could be a top three player of all time not think that was a little far, but he was on pace be a top ten player of all time. Maybe dare I even broach this challenge. Magic Johnson for the all time best point guard online much better score. Right. No question and change the game as the magic to some degree. But when Kevin Durant goes to goes, they all that changes. And when he leaves if and when he leaves after this season, Steph curry is going to show people again, how great he is people. Anyone who thinks that the Golden State Warriors are gonna fall off if Katie leaves has another thing coming staff, clay and Draymond are going to be motivated. And I think we have been a bit robbed Colin we've been right that last season. Steph had before Katie got their thirty points a game every week. It was something crazy. He was doing we've been robbed and we're going to get it back when Katie lis by K D, go inside. Third title and go to New York with kyri even out the league and steps into me like players you plan the league, you got all these big guys. I had a in harden. They control games hardened. Basically is the office. It's I like Anthony I've said this about Anthony Davis if he joins LeBron they'll be better he gives you twenty four and twelve but late in games who's going to be playing off. Lebron LeBron will be the driving force in Anthony a playoff him. All right, Colin, right, Colin wrong. I will say this joy. And I have and we like LeBron we've been LeBron advocates is it fair. Now to say interview Friday, I we me I we I me are you feeling the same thing. I was I said that earlier in the year. I didn't really feel it so much from that interview. "I don't know if you saw the video that I posted which was LeBron's presser because what it is is people have to I've explained it's not like you're in a room like a typical presser they they had the entire arena and they're all next week. Yeah. I've seen the overhead shot of you're like a like a convention center. Well, no, he was actually at the bojangles stadium. Okay. So it's an actual state in the entire court. They just have the guys placed podiums set up for everybody's got their own booth. Basic exactly, and when it came to LeBron it's crazy like everyone. Just like, I mean, you Katie instead people were clapping excited. Lebron presence. Media mediates, not staff, it's still LeBron Steph is still after all this not on the brand level now, and you should see how many people deep there where you couldn't even get close the LeBron. But that's me see now, I wonder what the between media and fan base. Because like when they do the announcing the players on national TV seems to me like Steph still gets the biggest ovation. Now the media day, you'll be shocked when when Steph came and Katie you're like, oh, and then when you hear this crazy amount of fan, and psycho people to screaming and crying and wailing and people running and even have the light even. Yeah. At least fans crying. I didn't even have to look like he's just an becoming. I knew it was him Steph or not Steph Klay at one point during his press conference says that like Steph, I'm sorry. It's places says there's a big commotion behind him. And he goes, oh, LeBron shows up in my my crowd dwindles is that what happens like, okay? So what happens is, you're you know, everyone has their position, you know, for the different players because you're trying to fight for position to get in a question. But then the minute, you know, like, let's say LeBron you people leave whoever they're interviewing and they they try to rush. You might ask you a question. You just dip outbid Middel abroad answer. Yeah. And you're running over there. We're going to keep getting into this stuff because you were at the dunk contest Friday or Saturday, you rather skills contest you were there. Cevic, and I'll take Lowery and the draft said over you guys forgot to people weighed in in Dirk. Yeah. So I go I got goes back and forth. I'll take way. All right. So team LeBron has a team set. Yes. Lebron Steph koyi, I think the four best players in the world. Paul, George clay. Ben Simmons, Bradley Beal Karl Anthony towns, the ngelo Russell Blake Griffin. Kyle Lowry and Dwayne Wade. That's a winning team who you got jet as. Kyri harden? Embiid Kemba Walker Anthony Davis. Russell Westbrook Damian Lillard Yokich Aldridge Middleton Dirk. Yeah. To be a rough night for you got a lot of the foreign guys. I got all the American guys, you're very you're Zita phobic make America great again. The NBA like Turkey is a mentor to my other formulas. Dwayne Wade we'll get LeBron focused for this game actually Jetson for beating by the way. Why Chris I just don't like most you guys have to staff. Clay, who don't you like my team? Let's not they're all size there also. But I think you got the better deal with also drafted those there. Besides the warriors. Do you like anybody else on his team on his team? Doesn't matter. I'm going to have him on the bench with us to and obviously LeBron's a good player. So he's pretty good too. So. So. So warriors, LeBron hardened might outscore everybody on his team out Shuping. Westbrook. If the object of the game is to build a house, then yes, I would say that harden would be right up there. He's going to make a lot of bricks airborne threes that doesn't count against me Christian. It's just about who scores up saying they're not gonna score. If he's building a house. Barclays ideas have the US against the world. Like, I don't think there's enough. Johnson. Embiid case to the world team would be honest and GIO kitsch. Yokich? I take dawn I think Dante should have been in the all star game personal. Oh god. I know. I think I think this'll be the last time. He's not. Yeah. Probably I think he deserved it. So it'd be those guys now Dirk would be that many more. But you put Dirk on the was born in the Bahamas, so younger Eytan. So he's in I guess world guy Bahamas territory, though, isn't it? Territory. Need a passport to get there? So Al Horford we at one of the Dominican says another get that would actually be a pretty good game. Yeah. Nobody from. I mean, you don't. USD movie far deeper. Tony Parker is now he's not worth way more. Obviously who else would there. Be parker. Can play up or zingers Vigo good team fon maker whose he's been one of the biggest disappointments in the league. I thought he was going to become I thought he was going to be Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett said that. Kevin Garnett said this guy looks you know, could be the next. It's not at all. It's more like Kevin gamble. But. Yeah, this this'll be interesting. But what you would not be entertained by that game. Yeah. Marcus all I guess market saw at forty. But is having a players what Mukti all star team that desert to them. Right. Yeah. Because I mean, if you take the top twenty five players in the world, I would top twenty four players in the world. I would assume sixteen eight from everywhere else seems about right? So guys would get robbed went that way. I get in the NHL you can do it. Because a lot of the from the world. Exactly. But I don't know if they do it in baseball. Yeah. I just don't know for best. I end up doing. I just think it would be. Yeah. It would be. But you the world team would have far better chemistry able Gabby fight. Yeah. But you also coach of the world team would be David plot. But you also you guys is it's an actual international rules, and he would try to coach his ass off against what Ron Ron you guys on the world team that don't have to be all stars, David Blatt. He works whole career to be NBA coach LeBron got him fired the world guys be better than beaten Janas start. Guys, got us Yokich those are two desert three guys who are top twenty players right now. But you have guys that don't deserve y'all stars that are on the world team. Yeah. Yeah. That would never start and she's going to be a top ten player. Awesome. Too long. Yeah. But like Christian said if you if you take the top twenty four players in the NBA, probably sixteen from the United States eight from the rest of the world like full guys. Guys that do off. Yeah. Exactly. So that's not fair. But it would be kind of fun. It's a game is for the fans. I like the idea of just having the draft between the three point contest in the dunk contest and have live and LeBron Yana stand up there. And they just say, okay, I pick I'm taking K D walks up to team LeBron. And then someone's going to be picked last who was picked last is here. Not Milton idealistic. I think it was it might have been Kemba Walker. No, no. It was Dirk. I would imagine those guys guys might have been Kemba Walker member go bear. That's another guy we've been talking. But remember last year when they told Westbrook that he was the last pick. Yeah. He was a joke. Yeah. Yeah. He was furious. Like went out like forty twenty and ten Simmons and carrier, both born in Australia. That's right. Yeah. So you got the you go get them. Yeah. That's right. It would be a good game. Okay. No. But but but Kyrie ever done the Olympics on the Australian team. I don't think he's played for team USA. I don't know. I don't remember him playing for team USA he could play for the Australian team play was born in southern California's dad was born in the Bahamas. I think he's is does he go by. He's Australian I think he plays for the native American team. Now, the and Elizabeth Warren, but Karl Anthony towns for once carries mom was actually an accident. Elizabeth Warren is one one twenty four th or whatever. But yeah, Simmons could be an international player. Simmons eight healed is Bahamian is well heeled who was probably deserving of all star game. Again this year. I'm telling you there's some put together it would be a damn good team. So before we break for the week, Jetsons Europe the game is thing you probably didn't hear this. But Cedric Maxwell did a little something even to not. Someone who never played an all star game. But was a finals MVP. Yeah. He has his intricacies. You know when he's doing the broadcast rights yet. Sure. Get an old man moment here. Well last night right before the tip while they're on the air. Well, he did this. Me right now seventy who's call you during. Why why do you answer on identified costs? Wants to be a millionaire. Don, don't answer your their life. "Mine off the top of my head was someone who is unstoppable. And lifts his teammates. When they can't do it. But you could be a great player, but we be one dimensional. You know, Ben Wallace was one dimensional. He was great defender. Anyone defensive player of the earth? Think a couple of times. Now does that make him a great player? He's more of a great role in a niche. You know, like like LeBron James, you could say is a great player because he does everything. But that's not really it's more. Like when he's off the court the team looks a disaster. Whatever team he's on. Yeah. I don't know if I have like a definition that if I attach it to a great player. So the second part of the question is is James harden, a great NBA player based off your definition. Does he give his team a much? I mean, we give them a better chance to win them when he's off the court, but can his style lead you to a title. No. But I think he's a great player because he's the most unstoppable force in the game today when it comes to scoring. He's the most unstoppable player in the game. But that's interesting. You said his style cannot lead you to title. Well, I just don't think with a perimeter perimeter based guy who's going to have the ball all the time. I gotta have guys involved, and I'd like to see the finished product when everybody's healthy there. Because I think the key for hardness is Chris Paul and some of these role players because hard and I don't want hardened scoring forty night. If he's given me thirty great because I want him to give me eight or nine his has the ball an awful lot. And I look at Houston style in I look at Golden State style. And I think if Houston is healthy, and they incorporated a little bit more Golden State's ball movement. Maybe they're a better team. And I take away some of the I just don't want hard and wearing down again. In may. And we've seen this before. And it's a long long run there. But but what he's doing? It's incredible. He's he is unstoppable. In today's game. He is unstoppable. Yes. Mclovin. I don't think we pay enough attention to shooting percentage of the great players have huge shooting percents like Jordan. Kevin durant? Lebron Steph curry hardens way below those guys. So it's Mike Antonio, you know, you saw Nash win to MVP's because they shoot so quickly you rack up these gigantic numbers. Although it almost want them title last year. Yeah. That's the way they got to game seven and should have beaten the warriors. I think he's doing what he has to do. Now. I totally agree. And, you know, do I want a steady diet of that? I don't because I don't want him to get injured or where down, and I just don't think you you're capable of continuing this night in and night out. But it, but it is an incredible run. What we've seen so far? So it was that the poll question you wanted is alive? Another one on. An upcoming guests. No, Greg Maddux. Would you rather have three hundred wins in baseball or hit? And I'm trying to find the number five hundred home runs. But if you three hundred wins, you're obviously I bowed hall of Famer. But to me, I would still rather be a five hundred home run guy that one of those great pitchers. Wait, you'd rather have five hundred home runs and three hundred wins. Yes. No. Greg maddux. Nobody dreamed what.

"It's the beginning of the month beginning of the year. In fact, that means it's time to revisit our awards. We're gonna do pretty much all of the NBA's official words for today. We'll save are kind of self created fought awards for next week. But let's get started with MVP last month. I had Yenisei Hoopoe who did you have last month? I believe I had honest as well. Okay. Well, I'm going to stay consistent, and I still have him. I think James harden has made it a pretty close racer. Yeah. I was between for me. My top three was those two guys in Anthony Davis. Davis has kind of a different case which will get into a little bit later. But I have honest number one. And what I started getting into was that he's kind of an amalgamation of the arguments for different players. So his USA trait is similar to LeBron Steph curry, incidentally, Jaanus assist rate is pretty close James Harden's, which was surprising to me, and as above Steph Currys and Yoenis, of course, has a much higher defensive value. Then the offense I guys, you know, if we want to talk about you on his DNA component that something there. But I think honest is Ben soup. Perio- offensively. And so that plus if you wanna factor in team success a little bit that has been the that makes the kind of the tiebreaker for me with him is that he he doesn't have the best argument in everything over everybody by his cumulative one is is a little bit better in the advance stats are Indiana's favor. I would say at this point in time when introduce a new metric here, I talked a little bit about this on a previous show Jacob goals jeans player impact, plus minus PI PM. And basically with that tries to do is eliminate for luck. And where does it come from? Well, it comes on defense from teams hitting unsustainable numbers of three pointers against you or even shooting a better percentage at the foul line than would be expected free. Throw defense doesn't actually exist and that offense to it. Teammates hitting free throws teammates hitting more three pointers than would be expected. Now that last point he tries to regress it back to the overall team three point percentage. So that there is. Some benefit given for players who set up their teammates, for example, for open three pointers and can help a team three point percentage that way. So it's another tool the toolbox. It's a little bit different from RPM in that. It doesn't have the ridge regression where you're controlling for the effect of which teammates you're playing with versus and then also who's on the floor for the other team. So it doesn't have that component to. But I think it's another pretty good too. Because I think one of the big weaknesses of our PM. For example. I think this is one of his inspirations for coming up with this. If you look back at quiet, Leonard sixteen seventeen season where Spurs opponents just randomly hit thirty seven percent of three pointers when he was on the floor and twenty nine percent when he was off the floor. And so that really skewed his numbers a ton. So this tries to adjust for that. And he gets one of the weaknesses of our PM that it doesn't or preps Kanta adjust for that. So Jaanus is number one in the NBA in gold sins metric, take you through the top.

And this is going to be the all star game held in February and North Carolina. Sap? What do you think of these all star games on team? Lebron all the way it's my favorite player. I like the also do. Okay, do because it's just you know, they play defense on the left here they did somewhat. And it's just a free flowing exhibition of just incredible talent. I mean, I think the NBA's right now get more talented than it's ever had led by LeBron Steph curry to the greatest of all time, they'll use the teacher gun during that run. Yes. To shoot some t shirts. Into the fly. Elf we had in the Celtics the flying come out during mission jumper on. Remember? I don't remember that we have a guy he would give them. Right. Right. Is he what's he deal? I think he's moved on. What about that guy in Philly the new the new him who's ugly flyers? Yeah. Mascot gritty really really like disastrous looking but some people find cute. Will he be at the all star game? Probably not the NHL. You mean, the mascot? All star game. What is next up? All right. The next step was Kennedy Center honors took place this week. "Three point seven fm and seven fifty a m kfqd casual sports fans know the names of the superstars and pro basketball there's lebron steph curry kevin durant russell westbrook james harden but there is one name you may not have heard mainly because it takes courage and concentration to pronounce it i'm talking about janas adecco mbo of the nba's milwaukee bucks he's twenty three years old a hair under seven feet tall and there are thirteen lighters in his last name most of them consonants so he's usually referred to as janas or the greek freak is called that because he is greek and as we first reported in march he's doing things on a basketball court that people have never seen before even if you weren't a basketball fan you have to admire his athleticism and a personal story that's one of the most interesting in all of sports if that sounds like hype we offer into evidence exhibit number one debbie were madison square garden bucks versus the knicks a stolen pass fastbreak watch janas on the right it was so quick most people missed what actually happened you'd have to slow it down and watch carefully to notice that the greek freak left right over a flabbergasted six foot six inch defender while catching the ball and stuffing the unpronounceable has become the unstoppable how many steps does it take you to get down the court.
