Do the podcast we talk about. The nba is almost one. Am on friday morning. And the milwaukee bucks have just taken a three two lead one game away from setting up a buck. Sons final Joining us from dallas texas. Where it's still thursday is banned men howdy partners joining us from the fi- served forum or he is covering the eastern conference finals. Is tim bontemps wearing the five sir forum. Are you at this moment. I am sitting in a suite next to a picture of oscar robertson. Who is on the box to last time. The box made the nba finals. Or i should say that last time they won a championship fifty years ago this year as was as was lew alcindor at the time and this by brook lopez might have been the best bucks. Big man performance the playoffs. Since liu and then kareem's rain. I have to research that to verify that but Bombed him he's gonna stick up for bob lanier though mommy that is correct. Looked it up bob. Lanier never scored thirty three for the bucks in a playoff game. This not bucks. Brook lopez bogner tonight brook lopez looked like what what would you say. Like two thousand eleven. Two thousand twelve thirteen brook lopez. When i covered the brooklyn nets and brook. Lopez was known as being a masher in the low post as opposed to the three point flow spacer that has become in recent. He looked like two thousand like two shack. The box allies today For the first time in a while Especially at the first time since game three that they are enormous and far bigger than their opponents and proceeded to beat them into the ground like a varsity varsity team playing junior varsity. Yes so the bucks just got i mean without jaanus. Obviously they needed guys step up. They just got incredible all around game. I mean drew. Holiday played terrific especially defensively bobby portis who is becoming a a hero or is it. He's the already a hero in milwaukee They love him because he plays hard But you know he's discount today he also shot eight thousand percent open threes this year for the box and certainly has endeared himself to the fans for that reason to we only took twenty shots in this game tonight. I can't imagine they ever envisioned him taking twenty shots when they signed him less summer or public health. Doing it though. Bobby definitely envisioned it. Sorry bobby portis completely dominated. John collins like you want some this game up in a nutshell. Forget brook lopez and everything else. I mean john collins ended up with nineteen and eight. It was pretty invisible and most of it was in garbage time. I mean bobby. Portis completely outplayed him. That's the that sums up this game from soup to nuts i mean. Just listen to these numbers bobby. Portis twenty two points. Eight rebounds three assists about three assists steals all right brooke lopez thirty three points on fourteen of eighteen shooting seven rebounds. Chris middleton twenty six points. Thirteen rebounds eight assists jrue holiday. Twenty five points. Thirteen assists six rebounds But that's just all just awesome basketball and you know the bucks you mentioned about being on the paint. They shot twenty four twenty eight in the paint painting game to which is good. As i've ever seen a playoff game. They were thirty three of fifty in the paint in this game without jaanus not a great night for the frequent capello's case as a top five center in italy. No yeah you'll only played twenty minutes. And it he got he got railroad in this game. I mean look the bucks had forty four points in the paint in game four when they came out and insanely shot fourteenth three pointers and 21-shot shot attempts in the first quarter and again forgot the fact that they are enormous and should be just pummeled in reference only started. Don't even get me started the steam. The steam never does the things that it should. It's just a it's a constantly's is an all. I have to assume that. Mike good holzer is. This is not deep level analysis. Shoot attack the rim and by the way it's like. The hawks played a tight to one to zone. You know what i mean. I don't think they're doing anything to dissuade pain attacks when they're trying to defend but I mean look the the box got over. Sixty points in the paint are averaged over sixty points in the paint in games one two and three. They had forty four points in the paint in game. Four the come out tonight. They had twenty eight points in the paint in the first quarter. Wild twenty boys. The honest sweats janas watching on the bench and they had forty four points in the paint in the first half the same number. They had all of game for so yes. I think the box very clearly remembered that they are huge and they have a center. Who used to be a guy who averaged twenty points a game and shot incredibly efficiently all within five feet of the rim. And they said all right. We're going to smash these guys into the goal and they did that over and over and over again and while the hawks back in the game because the box do their usual thing where they messed around and kept it more interesting than they should have. Ultimately that size advantage was too much and whether trae on comes back and game six or not if they don't fix that in game six. The series is going to end on. Saturday may not have to fix it because it may they may not shoot pay in the paintings in game six well they. I mean brook lopez brook lopez was also walking to the rim for dunks. I mean they were giving up just ridiculously easy shots. I mean the bucks are bigger than them but some of this was also just. The hawks were just completely demolished in the first quarter. It is crazy how you see games at this level because the bucks came out in game four days i mean look sometimes you miss shots but it is amazing to watch. It's not just this series happens foot happening for almost twenty years. I've covered the nba. It's wild how often in playoff games team start flat in the free in the first quarter of game for the hawks got out to attend to run and led the game within the first three minutes. The bucks call timeout tonight in game. Five the bucks got out to attend to run in the first minutes of the game and ox gall was just a saves the same game in reverse right. Let's is the way it goes sometimes game four. I thought the bucks. We're gonna win that before you honest. Got hurt because he was starting to take a game. They were dominating in the third quarter before. Yeah and then he got hurt and all the air out of the balloon. Well we'll see that. You honestly injury. I i mean Off the fact that there was no torn ligaments. No sprained ligaments. If we're to believe Very you know that's amazing. Well thank goodness. It went straight back. As painful. As i'm sure it was instead of any kind of side to side you're in the arena and here in being in the arena the other night and hearing your honest y'all when he went down i i was thinking the worst as we're like everybody else. N lo was. It was scary. I don't think any of us are a real optimistic about seeing them again. In this series much less in the playoffs i think is very best but at least it's not something that's going to be a surgery going in the next year type of deal. Honestly that was. That was all i was thinking about when he went down with. Just let's have this guy missile next season. So that's the news. yes. I mean the night that. Can you answer that phone in the. Maybe i wasn't me. Oh this is my. This is my teenage daughter. Who's on vacation with our mommas. Just now call me back today. Time to order desert in the suite so the the night the night durant went down. You know the black people were like well. Yeah he's out for the series of made a lot of people were like. He is off the series of. I'm like the series dudes. He tore his achilles. We're not for a year right. And so like and by the way he may never be the same again now. Luckily he has been recovered amazingly. But you know. I'm just i'm thinking about janas like oh man like you know we're in we're in july. I mean he. He's may be gone for next year and who knows like his recovery. I was like just really really sad. So the fact that like if you're the bucks you're you're saying can we please somehow get him back out there because we're right here. We're you know we're five games away. You don't wanna you know you don't wanna lose this great opportunity but at the same time. I was afraid that this was going to be area. We are altering moments so when that came back no structural nan. Like if he's out the rest of the playoffs. I'm like okay. I mean it's a bitter upset thing but it's certainly head that certain. Yes it's certainly better certainly better than alternative and look you know who knows if they can get through this series you know. I think there's a chance to come back at some point You know who knows. They haven't really said that. I mean the fact that he was doubtful for game. Five certainly gives me some optimism that this is a extremely long term thing right like if he was just out. You would think you'd be out so you can at least you can at least hope for if you're a bucks fan. You can least hope for a near-term recovering again. Like i said the other night when he went down i was thinking the same thing as you and everybody in that arena. What's like you obviously. That's an arena. Full hawk stands and the whole place. You couldn't hear a pin drop all us on the ground like everybody. I think just real especially with the injuries that we've had in these playoffs into a lot of big name players. I think that was a moment where everybody was kind of like man really like this going to happen now and for him to get up. You know like millions at after that game. I thought it was pretty classy. How the fans in atlanta handle that and like you said brian. I was very relieved. That news came back the way it did. And you know see him sitting there and st calls tonight watching his team rampage around. It makes you think if they can find a way to get through this series and get to the sons in the finals. you know. we'll we'll see if you can make a return at some point. Yeah so trae young. I mean there is some. I saw some people bemoaning that trae young. You know you know the other night. I thought well was a anklturn. You know he probably go play through it but then it came back. Bone bruise not turned ankle. Bone bruise and you know up bone bruise just to be right right right. But the bone bruise is the problem and I don't have the exploits. The athletic exploits like Mcmahon does. When i was. I was when i was a teenager. I was a catcher in baseball team. And i got a bone bruise in my ankle when was a play at the plate. And that i mean not that. I'm comparing trae young just to be clear. That thing was vicious for couple of months. So when i hear bone bruise i think people go. Just a bone bruise. No big deal. And he's obviously varying degrees. But i assure you this was a vital game two to game. Fives are work. Careers are made quite frankly and for for about two bill play. He's he's obviously very I think there was some footage tonight. That the tnt showed of him doing some knowledge watching he was out here shooting before the game. He got some threes and floaters up. would you think of that. I mean. I thought he was moving. Okay but ultimately it comes down to You know sort of the same decision game four. They got through to forty eight hours a rehab and treatment and he went out there and tested it and he didn't feel comfortable on it and so he didn't play and it's the same thing tonight in game five and i think the hope was Pay let's see if we can get another win steel and other win without trae and have them ready to go. Hopefully in game six In atlanta and try to close a sing out. And i you know. I think navy the attraction to be a game time decision again and i expect this to kind of be a similar thing. But you know i think you know. I think there's at least a chance that he'll play in game six and you know certainly would be a welcome boost for atlanta. They could get him back out on their home court to try to keep their seasonal mcmahon news. A deeper team atlanta are milwaukee. Well i was. That's a question. They both got a star and a key guy out right now. I mean i think it's atlanta. I think it's atlanta too. So you know if this is a i was talking about temps. The other night at this was at chess match. And i don't i don't know just well enough. I don't know if would janas be the queen and and trae be the key. I i don't know what this just do it. This way of the remaining players in the series. You're taking in my opinion. Chris middleton and jrue holiday first second and some order so if the light and then brooke right right so in in brook is up there somewhere. tie on the list to what i'm saying is is is if if you're looking at this on a balance sheet while i'm saying he one team loses janas i i sort of think it's advantage hawks. What that's not while. What i'm saying is at the end of the day. The hawk the bucks have the two best players left in the series. So this isn't this. This series remains on the bucks bracket and if if they lose this series even without jaanus. They should be embarrassed because three league with home points. They just look again. Just look at this game today except for the game where they decided they were going to do. Shoot threes for forty eight minutes. This team has walked to the rim. Every second of the series they should they should have dominated the series from the beginning and other than like i said at the end of game one. What they completely disappeared and in game four. They just did insane things before you honest got hurt. And then they got snowed under in that. Run right after that. But they have they have largely controlled the series and they've done so because they just physically are much more. They're just overwhelming the hawks and again if they can just stick to that at least in one of these next two games they should be in the nba finals for the honest back or not well whether trace back or not because those physical advantages aren't going anywhere proud true but trae can shoot you to a win. Listen i'm not. I'm not saying i'm not saying hawks are incapable. There obviously capable. They've gotten this far. They've got through the sixers right. they got through. i mean they. They've had a terrific playoff run. I'm not saying that to diminish the hawks but the box. The box are the better team and they should win the series too including a home game. And if they don't win it it's on them. it's not because atlanta like atlanta will do things well if they win these next two games but that's going to be a loss for the box for that. It is a win for the hawks. In my opinion as the bucks showed in this series and trae look if this is a regular season. He's probably missing at least a couple of weeks right so he's trying to come back day to day when it's probably a multi week type of injury are now so you say well. How well is he going to be able to play on one wheel. But then you say well donovan mitchell just average whatever thirty some odd points you know for two series on one wheel basically yeah. Let's trae young again trae. young's really good. The hawks have a good supporting cast. Bogdan bogdanovich has been really good the past couple of games. That's been a big step for them you know. They've got a good collection of players. Come tamraz's come back. And he's done some stuff. Kevin hundred other piece trade deal. That's right you. The he was the first round. Pick in the in that trade so look they. The hawks definitely are talented. But like i said if you just take the guy's remaining in the series as of this moment with trae jaanus out box out the best to players if the team has the best players series. how often should they. Who's the series basically never right. So you're you're win the series. Yeah your point is well taken especially at this point because they did play so well anada game plan that worked and you know they have two games to win one to to make the finals for the first time since kareem demanded a trade. You know it's funny. Kareem is a cream is a sidelight potentially in a buck sons finals because I mean it's way back there. It's kind of. It's you're kind of force in the story line but You know part the sons history nineteen sixty nine their second year They're they're tied with The walkie for the worst records. So they're gonna flip a coin to see who Is going to get the number one. Pick and lew alcindor lew alcindor. Was you know everybody knew this guy was going to be a superstar. Instantaneous changer you know Lebron james shaquille o'neal type stuff. You know inhabit even faster impact frankly than the and shack shack was pretty. Well he he he was. Ucla yeah he was. He came in he came in and it was one of the best players the moment he stopped in on the court in the whole big exact they had a coin flip And the coin flip was over the phone There's actually footage that exists jerry colangelo and the head coach of the sons of the time. I can't remember who it was now. But a very young you're young jerry. Colangelo listening to the coin. Flip over the phone. Walter kennedy is the is the. Is the team partners. The nba commissioner and they had a contest in phoenix. Should they call heads or tails. Somehow they got to make the call like before and they've there was some vote and it came out fifty one percent heads. Forty nine percent tales. So they voted heads and they flip the coin and jerry just listening on the phone. I mean you. People talk about the frozen envelope. I mean you. Could you imagine conspiracy theories now. Let me think wasn't needed you. Maybe there was even a coin. The coin j walter kennedy catches it. It's heads but as is the tradition you flip it over onto the back of your hand like we used to do his kids or whatever and so it comes up tails bucks gets here one of the all time. Yeah and they win a championship. Two years later yup robertson and other hall another all time. Great player in two years later the title. I saw this story. Wendy i i had never heard of the guy. The sons drafts that i must admit neal walk number two pick. Yeah didn't have a terrible career. I was twelve point six point. Seven point seven rebounds at over eight years respectable pro-career the all time leading scorer. All right you know the in this this thing and we just had the lottery last week but you know this. This is everything you know. The the pick is everything when you have a player like that it was. The was the case in the sixties. It's the case in the twenties and You know when career you know they wanna title. Then they went back to the finals and lost. I think in game in seven games to the celtics they lost in seven games. kareem kareem asks to be traded. and that's it they haven't been back since The forty years to get another player anywhere in the same ballpark as cream and they've had very good teams. That's very good names. But forcing their way to the lakers. For generation superstars marquees johnson right city market those teams in the great scenes eighties with linear city. Moncrieff in junior bridgeman. And they had the the ray allen glen robinson read michael red teams. And you know they've had some really good teams. They want a lot of games here but they had a. You don't get you. Don't get top five players in the league but you get them. There's there's a reason there's only a handful of them in the league right. You only get them. Unless you're the lakers. Basically a handful of times which is why when you train a guy. Like james harden. You'd have to say to yourself. We may not have a guy this for twenty five years. I mean they had or forty right before these extreme but you know they had a you that you say that. But i mean look. We're talking about bucks greats. If you follow this guy on twitter you will know. He's a he's just the king of You call them the mean king. Zalin name he he joe ziya johnson. Smart keys johnson. Son how about that about that royalty about one of five I've a very important question. Okay why do people not clown little wayne for how he switches teams like The wind blows well. he's getting. Can you inform me on lewin's Team switching i. i did not know he was I mean raise trait before before right now. Honestly you could say that. Chris paul him go all the way back to new orleans when when p. Who's just getting started. But a little. Chris paul just clinches his first finals berth. And you know he's hugging this. Long haired You know there's long haired human being on the On the floors someone with long blond hair from the back who it is and it's a small. It's a short person you know. It looked like a woman. I'm just let's just be honest. Just be honest. Yeah and we just lost a bontemps by the way. Oh yeah so. We can pick back up with a little easy. He says my computer died. I'll be right back. I was trying to quietly plug it in ran out of time. Although i read all bond. Tim's techs in my bond tim slash But head voice he area. He is very attainable. He is he he but faced me the other day. What does that mean. Mainly facetime pocket facetime. Dial but face. Oh okay i told him that. I was not very happy to get a. I'm sorry face. But i wouldn't have to get a facebook from about face. Hello sorry about that. All right you back. Can we pick up a little little easy. I yeah i yeah. I think my computer was. I heard you talking. When i heard you talking when mike when my think cut out so yeah i think we could start there. Yes a little easy. You know bus. Through the i guess you sit in court cy. Bus out on court hugging sepia three ep. Three clinches first follows bertha touching moment when he came out there. i'm watching at home with my fiance. All she sees this huge main of Of blonde hair. You know hugging on chris. Paul looked like an elderly an elderly. She goes she goes all how cute chris poles got his. He's like he's like waving and smiling at his family up in the sweet it wasn't it was unrealistic to think that said they came down. I was like that's not his mom as louisi- i'll give up. I guess i'll get my semi pass because he he was really. There's a chris. Paul fan. Not a suns fan gig. Easy way back when. But i know but i've seen them rooting for and against a lot of different. How about chris. Paul just like storming into the fans stands repeatedly you know he was just i mean i know he just immediately was in the cove protocols but like everybody else was like within the ropes on the court and he's just running into the stands running back out running into the stands running back out. I was like what is going on right now. Protocols were dropped by the way ball the who has picked the last time it was in the draft class. Last time the bucks had the number one overall pick look at you way back in the in the andrew bogut days so i don't have an answer to this And it's a weird thing to. I'm going to be honest with you. It's a weird thing to try to get an answer on So i just really didn't Chase it and maybe there's maybe. There's a really really good explainable answer. You know but this was obviously the biggest moment. Chris paul's career okay and we knew going into the game that was potentially one of the biggest moments in his career. He didn't know he was going to have one of the greatest halves of scoring in the history of the western conference finals because he had thirty one the second half. But do you guys find it on. Do you guys find it a little bit interesting. That to two other members of the banana boat crew were down the street. It was it was. It was very interesting there at the sparks game instead of at staples center. I did find that very interesting. Yeah and obviously hey all four support in the wnba but you know game. Got a chance to finally punches. A punches ticket to the finals like you only. You're best friends that raise. My eyebrows wondered about that. That's no criticism of the wnba. All they could've been they could've been at a movie and it would have been the same thing. It's like i i was in the had fifteen thousand things that they were doing what they were literally in down. And that's that's what i'm saying i was at. I was at the final game of Dwayne wade's retirement tour in brooklyn and i think chris paul was there indefinitely. Lebron and carmelo were there and and like you said i immediately was like wait a minute. They were at the sparks. Ace's game last night instead of game. Six fully the next building over the next building over ma- maybe they couldn't get tickets yeah. Lebron does have trouble getting tickets for her true. I don't know. I wish i could give you some sort of inside. I don't have to be at any finals games. You know Yeah i mean look and by the way he was still here. We're still there. I mean for all. I know they came over and saw him and the celebrated afterwards especially in music live tweeting the nba playoffs from home. He's been tweeting about all these games and everything that's been going on so made it all the more interesting for maya. Well i mean little little wheezy made i mean like maybe maybe. There's a new banana boat. Crew starring chris paul louisi- and find a couple more people. I don't mean to say their little sphere. I don't mean. I thought lebron come onto the floor. That's not how he rolls. And i'm sure he communicated with him after the game but the sun's high tailed it out of there. They were back In phoenix going there was a there was a parade in the middle of the night at phoenix airport. When they landed the the players were going down in between fans going out of their sunroofs like they did the same thing. I think after the conference semifinals against denver. To if i remember think so the the suns are having this amazing run that was not the fans. There didn't expect it. I mean they were just hoping they would somehow claw into the playoffs for the first time in a decade so I've i can relate to this I'm a big ohio state football fan and when they won the underdogs will you have nothing. They have nothing ever go their way but when they won the national title in I think fifteen last time. They want their their their first. String quarterback got hurt in the preseason. Their second string quarterback got hurt in the middle of the michigan game. And they go to a third string quarterback who carded genome daily news and not only was the running credible. They pulled off a couple of Pulled off a huge upset of alabama. But we did not as a fan base. We did not expect it. It was just an so i mean. Obviously they were a good team but the joy of having unexpected success like that. You know if you're the if you're a warriors fan you're not gonna be as excited in two thousand eighteen as you were in two thousand fourteen inch it's not gonna. It's not gonna be the same. So i i mean there's some people have said. Oh the sun's know act like you've been there before no don't act like you that they had and also they're absolutely demolished and everybody in their path and you can talk about their real run across with these injuries in that. Whatever what chris. Paul did last night like that was historic stuff. You know especially considering his his career arc and to do it. You know in the staple center forty one points no turnovers just absolutely dominant nemesis patrick beverley getting adjusted for to hand shoving him in the back and say i. I wrote about the game last night. And i was in on all the sons post game interviews. Nobody nobody asks. Chris paul about beverly really was so in the moment and by the way like I there's a bunch of blasphemed questions that everybody got to ask so. I'm not indicting. Everybody but chris. Paul was so euphoric and midway through the The the interview devon booker came and set the the trophy down next to him. It's the first you know of any kind chris's one You know We asleep good. Because i was such a. It was such a goon move by patrick beverley to do that that like it. I don't know. I'm almost glad it didn't get brought up like it was just such an absurd thing to do like you know. Everley paul us some of the Not the same tactics. But they're both guilty of they both their professional knucklehead their professional pitzer offers. That's what they are but we're just ridiculously skilled professional pisar off on. That was just such you. Don't you don't hit somebody in the back frank was bodily and it looked that was it was. It was an admission of utter humiliation right because he had. I mean chris. Paul scored thirty one in the second. Half he's out there. You know going gnashing as as they call it going underneath a hoop behind his back. Does knocking down jumpers seven of eight three. You know. get whatever pull up. He wanted poor boogie cousins. Like man it took a minute to figure out you know they brought the zone in in game five and it just the sons weren't ready for it They were ready for it in game. Six. i'll tell you what they're just sons are really really really well. Coached and look. Chris was rusty when he came back from from cove. Like he didn't he shot terribly for a couple of games and they more than made up for in game. Six i to say you know as gone into game six. I'm sitting there saying you know. The clippers have really kind of been the better team. After game one you know they. They lost game two on that met miraculous. Play the clippers They were right in it in game. four down the last ten seconds. Defeat the sons are the sons one of the sons greatest weapons that they have is their free throw shooting. They've won twelve consecutive games dating back to the regular season twelve consecutive games. They have won That have been decided by five points or less. And i looked at the numbers trying to figure out how they do that i was like do they shoot much. Better like holding the opponent's to A lot lower percentage than no. Actually they shoot worse than their opponents and clutch time in those winds and those twelve win in the wind's not just all season in the wins. They're shooting less than their opponents. So i was like well. Maybe they just don't turn the ball over. And you know what What executives were talking to me about today More than one. I talked to bottomless fries. Paul what's going to happen if slash wen chris. Paul ops out of that contract. yeah. I see no good this year. He's gonna get a lot of money to sign somewhere whether it's to resign with the sons or go somewhere else. Does he want to go to new york. I mean but look like you know what the. Let's let the sons play the finals. I think we can hold off until after that to speculate and chris paul's next. I think the point is the guy's guy looks like he's got a lot left in the tank all. Yeah no he's gonna get a huge contract he he'll opt out probably a forty four mill and not take much of a haircut in the first year and get two years added onto it. Yeah i mean there's a and that is a discussion for later for sure but You know in the the people who live in the world of the nba. That's what they're talking about today right right because they're like now what's going to happen here and It's all coming up. Chris ball right now but i think i think we can let we can let chris paul bask in the glory of one of the great all time point guard playoff performances In store line fashion and get ready for finals. I've i called it. I couldn't call the most improbable. I didn't have the research to. But i called it one of the most improbable run to the finals in league. History yeah look. He's putting he. He'd already obviously stabs himself as a no brainer hall of famer. But you know he's he's he's putting the finishing touches on a legendary resume and still has a lot of juice left in the tank. Do you put juice in a tank. Run that well yes. so now. they're going to get some time off. And let devon booker's knows he'll and chris. Paul gets stronger and everybody gets some rest. You know one of the things. I was talking to To a guy who knows the sun's really really well. I wish i You know what. I'll just say who it is David kevin. you should follow him on. Twitter the four point play. The four is roman numeral. This guy is probably watched more suns basketball than maybe anybody. But robert sovereign the last decade and He he He lives in australia. And he watches the games in the middle of the night and He does a lot of analysis on them and he you know did analysis on them when they were winning. Twenty two games. You know He's not a johnny-come-lately like a lot of people are and he was. Just you know that. Eight and You know somehow eight and sometimes gets tired and And when he gets tired he his His just like anybody whose execution goes down. Because i thought aden on the last couple of games just didn't look quite right and so even though he's not injured and You know still pretty young age. Never had it run like this before so you know. This isn't just going to charge the guys who have negative energy. It's air who have negative injuries. It's going to recharge all of those guys and you know if atlanta wins another game here enforces game seven. You know we're we're talking the middle of the end of next week before the final start the sons are going to have home court no matter what bontemps and they're going to have such a great rest advantage which people talk rest. I rust and a lot of years. Because they don't have anything to talk about Inbetween series well. Let me tell you something in two thousand twenty one rest is what you want. Well as an health. And they've got that too. Yeah they're the healthy team in the rest team. That's a pretty good combination. You're going into the nba finals to be healthier and more rested team. Both nets no matter who they get. Whether the hawks come back or whether the bucks goes to sing out they're going to be playing the team that's that's not as healthy in them and it's certainly not as rested as them and here's the other finals. They've been around around since nineteen sixty eight. So what is that. That's fifty three years. Now this is our best chance of ever had. Maybe the best chance they ever have. This is it and this is why line with corey. Craig's revenge series. Well this is why you know maybe look dude the karma potentially the karma if the bucks when one more the car on lew alcindor coin flip You know this is why. I see people complaining about the injuries. And you know they start. Talking about asterix's drives me crazy. The dumbest says the dumbest conversation the absolute dumbest conversation the astros conversation whatever. The rings and trophies are going to be real shining expensive. So what you want. You know where. Everything's if chris paul or whoever wins but especially chris paul if he wins this like hang out to apologize for any sort of you know bad luck in the playoffs right. Yeah if you go back every season in nba history you can. You can asterisk each year based off of guys getting hurt or whatever if you want conversation. Yes that's right and i love tom and bill. Simmons says on the same thing he wrote in his book basketball he wrote which was like one of the great anthologies ever written about the game. He goes basically. You're basically here's the celtics didn't win it you know. If you want to be honest. He finds reasons why they didn't but put that aside. Tom did it sarcastically. Tom with point was that it's silly. It statistical article. I know but. I still don't like it because it doesn't because because even discussing it irritates me and so like you know just just in the suns history. Okay they lose a coin. Flip in seventy six. They are in the finals against the celtics. And they play a triple overtime game in game. Five t two series and lose when paul silas called the timeout didn't have which has lost history people don't ever think about the only thing about chris webber but People some people believe that that game which was a triple overtime game in game. Five of the finals back when the games are shown on tape to light is the greatest game in nba. History They lose that game and then they lose a series They have the greatest. I've ever had in ninety three charles barkley the top of his game. Mvp they run into jordan Steve nash era. The one year they're like tearing the league apart. Joe johnson falls and breaks his bonus face and is not the same player and they lose and then two years later steve. Nash gets checked into the gorge stable. Mr stoudamire runs up to do it. He gets suspended and they lose in that year which is a year that they could have won. They lost the spurs who ended up winning the title. I was year that Whoever was going to get to the finals. it's going to devastate. The cavs ended up being the spurs and not the son's probably because of marched item. I ran up after robert. Ory body-checked steve nash. Don't look at the sons and say they've not had Things go against them so if things go their way. New set mcmahon chris paul. I think has had three different playoffs three different injuries in the playoffs and ended his playoffs during plus a couple of blake right. Yep for sure. So i just you win a title. You win a title period. I mean i feel bad. I mean like yes. I feel bad that that Anthony davis got hurt. I feel bad. That jamal murray was out there. I feel i feel bad The the series didn't include kawhi leonard. But you know what are you gonna do. It doesn't cheapen. It doesn't cheapen the accomplishment in any discussion of it is stupid. Yeah so they've no no more astra stores are you will get on. The bad side of brian windhorst so seriously like the other day. I was on mike. Greenberg's radio show. I was in a feisty mood because it's something else that it happened with somebody who's doing repairs at my house if you must know what. I was pretty irritated about you. know that. turn of events and We must not know but thanks for sharing. I first year world. Windy here we go. It was it was the first world problem. But i was pissed off. Okay and greenie on radio show and he brought up this asterix thing and i got i got. I got a little out there. I got a little. I got a little out there on and now he wants. I'm i'm doing. I taken era enough for steak but get up in a few hours. Asked me about it again. I think he's going to expect that i go. I go wild again. i'm not. I'm not sure that the but it does. It does start moving. My blood because it just something i just don't like And so i say sons fans enjoy every moment of this and don't listen to anybody who tries to say anything about how this is somehow less than listening by starts talking about stuff what you do is you grab 'em right by the the neck if they're wearing chain gravitate pull down an uppercut a bunch of times we don't we don't four sons. Yeah that was. That was the one karma thing that i loved. I loved at when they're when they're then was fights at this. You know during the sons nuggets series back in phoenix. They had to put out a statement. Saying we don't condone fighting courtside seats and autographs brave and everything but it was just once we don't need another. It was so insane that they completely embrace that that was that was the craziest part of the whole thing. So here's this crazy on the internet beating the crap out some nuggets fan then the next thing you know. He's like you said he's like getting fed at the games so on in his defense. It was self defense. The nuggets fan earn an open and he just delivered it. Saying i understand i understand. It still was an odd move from an nba team to celebrate some guy getting in a fistfight of at nba. Game was a weird weird move. They also wouldn't he wouldn't push that you know what you're right about that also tonight in milwaukee The bucks fans went to one of their favorite chance which was bucks and six which dates back to brandon jennings infamously. I was covering the heat at the time and the bucks were playing the heat in the first round. I don't i might have been a two seven. Maybe it was a one eight series. I can't remember what year it was and brandon jennings rather infamously it predicted. You know very loudly that the bucks would win in six. I mean you know. What are you supposed to do to say now. We're we'll be lucky to take a game. I mean you may believe that but you can't say that But you know bucks. Six became like a bit of a thing and so Not not doesn't have the same connotation sons four but They were enjoying the tonight All right well. We are very excited about guys. I'm excited about. They're actually not being game friday night. Because i need to get some get some rest you you take an wi out to dinner. I haven't gotten to that point. "Very Monster they're great. You WanNa make the gaps really deep. So then you want to build around the speed and defense you can do that. Not Cornfields back. Do you WanNa city do you want you know the Old Tiger Stadium? Overhang whatever you so. That's something that's really cool and it's not just fun to play with it also impacts the game right if you have a short porch in right field. That's GONNA mean something. So that's something that that's really really cool. Something else to that that we really are getting a huge positive response back dramatically improve the scouting and the drafting. You know you remember ten years ago. The Major League baseball draft was something you might read about in the newspapers but nowadays right. It's almost as big as the NFL. Draft your mock drafts and stuff like that. So we built a lot out in scouting and drafting. So when you're running your team. The draft is now a big a big part of of the game. There's a whole bunch more that I could go on but like just right off the top of my head. Those are my two Dave my favorite to new things that weren't in the game last year. Well I think about all the different types of leaves you can have and you know rookie through diamond level perfectly promotion relegation talk about just you know. Pe- VP and playing people online. Yes so perfect. Team is a persistent online world. It's completely separate from the sort of traditional mode and it's really it's like an online you know I. It's just a fun online online world so basically you. You play perfect team you you. Rip Baseball Card Tax Digital Card packs. You get baseball cards of of player. Some could be current players. Some could be historic players. Some could be really high rated players like diamond card and some could be just sort of ordinary average and then you rip of card packs you get more than enough cards to put a team out there and then for every Monday for Sunday of every Single Week. It's a hundred and sixty two game season lineups and rotations and you can get more cards and more packs and then if you do really well even get promoted up to the next year And and you you start again on on Monday morning and it's a really fun online persistent competition that you can play in addition to the traditional mode and what what we've heard from fans. Is that perfect? Perfect team is actually a really great to to`real from the main game because you got a lot of the fun part of the game like setting rotations and the lineups and seeing how players are performing Without some of the other stuff that can be a little intimidating. The first time through so perfect team is persistent online. Every single week is a brand new season promotion and relegation and we've had success and people enjoying perfectly As as a as a new way to play baseball. Those birds aren't indigenous here so they had to raise their hand and say okay. You're right we put in fake bird. Sounds so which I love so there was a recent article on slate. That talked about how they went to the masters last few years to check in on this and they went to a guy named John Fitzpatrick who's from Cornell. And they have a lab of ornithology and he said I will confess that when I watch golf on TV. I keep a list of all the birds that I see and hear like cheese Louise so they ask them at the last masters. What did you see? Was there any geographical chicanery going on there? He said all I could hear was a cardinal and I think in eastern toll he to the species. They're all accurate as the ones calling there at this time of year in central Georgia. So they said well in the past year is what have you heard? He said the tufted tit Mouse Carolina chickadee Carolina Wren Eastern Bluebird Northern mockingbird northern cardinal and that eastern Tau. He to- He. He said sometimes it can be a thin year but he remembered that in twenty fifteen he also heard a great blue heron red bellied Woodpecker American Crow American Robin Brown thrasher a northern Peru. La a pine warbler a yellow throated. Warbler a chipping sparrow. And a white throated sparrow so I first of all I love people who are experts in things anyway but experts and things of which I I know nothing but I. I just wonder how long it would take like. I can tell you what a crow sounds like. We all right right right. We all know the pigeon. Were we all know that I can tell you what blue jays sound like? I hate him. I know what Robin sound like. I think those Siegel we obviously know. What a seagull sounds like sold five five birds and my life I could hear and It's a seagull. That's a crow. That's a stupid Blue Jay. I call them stupid because they used to torture. My cats would swoop down and try and peck them on the head. So if you catches them that's what they get plus. I don't like Toronto Blue Jays either but it's a horrible horrible mascot but I just love the fact that the Sky John Patrick can say that's a Carolina wren that's a yellow throated warbler and he doesn't go yellow throated warbler and the pine warbler and the white throated sparrow. That's not too bad and by the way they don't actually go into the internal machinations of the throat of the bird to find out. It's the it's the first feathers whenever you want to call it But that CBS. Apparently it was not just Augusta but they said that maybe. Cbs The television network was going for this relentless. Coffin of bird. Sounds as well and like yeah when you hear bird sounds you know whatever it puts you at ease right usually. Don't think about the horrifying traffic jams and viruses and things. Unless it's the bird flu actually I I take that back but The the bowing down. I have to do to get anything. What does it do for society? When does this help society well? First of all it helps with bird conservation. I'm sure right and by the way I knew when I woke up this morning talking about bird. Conservation said of human conservation. But you gotta go to an expert and I'm telling you whatever it is you know. It's like lip-readers. Somebody can read lips and I remember watching these old war one films years ago and of course back then. If you've seen that Great Peter Jackson documentary they shall not grow old. How the guy cranked the film if he went too fast and everybody going too fast and then if he cranked too slow everybody looked like they were walking so but it showed this one guy in the British army and he moved his lips like this like that and they got a lip reader from Scotland Yard and she said I need to get out of here right now. I gotta find a way to get out of here and then you watch it again. That's exactly what he said. So there's an expert in everything if it except one thing and that's the krona virus because it's brand new and I think we have any experts people who are experts in fact spell. We don't know our side effects and it usually takes a year to year and a half of voluntary human testing us the prisoners who said that to see if there are any side effects. Because as you say okay. Yeah cure the virus. Oh but it shut down his kidneys and stop his heart and gave him brain damage. Well then we don't want that vaccine so those are some of the things working on right now all right. Why don't I talk a little sports on? That might be good. I'm rick. Tidwell comeback files took at twenty eight. I'd struggled with opiate and Meth addiction for twelve years. Midway digital four K ULTRA HD Combo. Pack Blu Ray Combo Pack. Dvd as well. Thank you for that all right. You mentioned the email Paul and Yeah the the room about the All Star game. I just saw that this morning myself and they pushed it back to. April is a write off. Okay if you want to whatever you WanNa do you WanNa invent something you want to write a novel you want to write a screenplay? April is looks like the month to do it because nothing will be back up like we know it in April. What we're doing now. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse than this but we're going to have at least we have now. It looks like through April. No-one says they're going to be back. In fact the governor of California said what it looks like. We're not even going to be going back to school until next fall. So with the opening day being pushed back to mid May and whenever it does return one of the possibilities is that they just start with the All Star game and rather than just canceling it. Now Mike Aziza. Who's a baseball writer for? Cbssports DOT COM. I know he wrote an article on it as well and he said that would be a perfect way just to celebrate the game coming back and learning. Everyone in and there was some precedent kind of for this as well. When I was a junior in high school we had the work stoppage and we had to have remember the as the first half royals are. The West played the royals the second half winners of the West for the guy knocked down the lcs big time by the Yankees but when baseball stopped. We missed six weeks. It was mid June alway to August and we missed over seven hundred games so the second haw second half kicked off with the All Star game so how would you select rosters and the proposal would be that the American knee league and the National League? Each team will propose sending one position player and one pitcher. That'LL GIVE US THIRTY. Men Rosters with fifteen pitchers in fifteen players. That's very interesting and they all get in everybody you send gets in. So who would you send? The angels would probably send Mike Trout and show you the Astros sent Delta. They inver lander by the way he's just had surgery. I know somebody said with the as match happened and Liam Hendriks. No no no no no The by the way that's who went last year at least match Allen was in the Homerun Derby and do not Do well but you look at the Indians. Would it be Francisco? Indoor and chain Bieber with the Mariners. Send Dee Gordon and you say Kikuchi. Who would the Orioles Austin Hayes and John? Means it's an interesting thing this red sox Zander Bogart's and Chris Sale. Chris is going to be back. Is that what we're going to have? It could happen the Tigers do they. Send Miguel Cabrera. They'd Probably Send Young Matthew Boyd. It's an interesting thing the Yankees Aaron Judge Garrett Cole that could be the Rockies Nolanda and Otto and John Gray you look around the giants buster posey and Johnny Cueto the dodgers do you send Walker Bueller or Clayton Kershaw other way the team USA for the World Baseball Classic. There's been a lot of recruiting going on there. Some really good young players on that team right now the Walker world people are actually signing up for it and I think we might actually have a good member. Mike Trout speaking to him. After mentioned he was sitting in the stands at chase field with Vernon wells watching team. Usa Eating Popcorn and laughing is our best player. Watching Brewers Christian Yelich Josh Hater Cubs Hobby bias. And I don't know Yu Darvish how about the diamondbacks. They could send Madison. Bumgarner and cattail Martin with a dodger centers. Their position player they send. Mookie Betts the Matt Speed Alonzo and Jacob degrom the nationals Juan. Soto and Stephen Strasburg or or Max Sherzer. Either of those could come into play as well but it's an interesting thing and I think it's a pretty cool idea that you actually don't have to and by the way the guy who's doing the recruiting for the Dream Team is Marcus stroman. He's the guy who says that He will actually because Marcus. Stroman was on the bump last time we wanted all but the gold medal. He took a no hitter into the seventy my remember but he already got commitments from two guys who were on that team. Christian Yelich Eric Hosmer Which is good. He said that Nolan auto who was also on that team. He said he'd be back but some of the young guys. Joey Gallo is in Trevor Bowers. And Cody. Bellinger said yes. Trevor Story said Yes. They mentioned Walker Bueller. David Doll said that He wants to come as well. A Pita Lonzo said if at USA baseball name me to the team national team. I might cry. I tried out for the under eighteen team. A while back and I didn't make it would be an honor to put on the red white and blue and rep the stars and Stripes. Pete Alonzo always say the right thing even at the home run Derby. He's a very likable guy. Stroman replying yes at Pete. Underscore Lonzo twenty. Need you buddy degrom McNeil and Conforto as well. So that's not bad. Stroman said he's reached out to Mike Trout and McKee vets isn't heard back yet. In bets is scheduled to become a free agent. We know maybe. He wants to suspend spring training and year one with his new team. I don't know but as I said I don't know what's going on with trout trout. You're locked up. You have your guaranteed money. I don't know if you're getting afraid of getting hurt at one. But they've struggled to get to get big names. We know that and if team is how if a guy's healthy a team cannot block that player but the team by the way this is supposed to go down in spring training of next year. Two Thousand Twenty one. We mentioned the dates. The other day that the pool play is going to begin. March ninth next year and Championship rounds will be held a little bit later that month and they'll all be championship. Bronze at Marlins Park in Miami so And by the way just to let you know this weekend Sunday will be the anniversary of the WBZ gold for our American boys an emblem MLB network will be airing eleven hours of wbz themed programming including the championship. Clinching game which will begin at eight. Am OUT HERE ON THE WEST? Coast and eleven. Am Back on the East Coast but when you think about Buck Martinez being our manager the first time and Davey Johnson. You know and I'll never. I'll never disparage against the guys who showed up for that and where people saying. Oh my Gosh Matt Holliday. You Suck my at least Matt Holliday. Showed up when Alan Iverson got a lot of heat and and Mitch Richmond and the Guy who went to Athens when we won the bronze medal. Meanwhile the late great Kobe Bryant and Lebron James Shaquille O'Neal they didn't go. I really the guys who didn't go. Then I would for that but if you look at the lineup right now you can have rail new show at catcher and then if you go around the field you can have pita Lonzo Alex Bregman Matt Chapman Trevor. Story Max Muncie outfielders. Bellinger Yelich there on already but you look at Mitt worth met with Mary. Field says name wrong but I'd rather have trout or bets out there if you could do it that's not bad. A rotation of coal degrom Stroman and then who else Jack Florida. The cardinal said he would do it. I'd rather have Max Scherzer then in the bullpen coming with Kirby AIDS and Josh Hader Ryan Presley and it'll come home back. Jj they found the two pills. Night on the discovery channel's going to be a two hour deal at eight o'clock Jj Out here in California. We have this shelter in place going on in fact. I'm doing my show from my house via skype right now. How are things looking in the volunteer state right now at this cove? Nineteen you know. It's a little crazy. You know what I'm saying. You can't say that ain't but you know. I feel like the real have a lot more serious things that we're about that so you guys are still you got bars and restaurants. Still Open and stuff. I never got a Bar Restaurant Kinda Guy Somehow. It hasn't changed. I you know my my wife Cooks breakfast. My wife Cooks Dinner. Her my family. We eat every night at six or seven o'clock. Our lifestyle hasn't changed course. I guess everyone else has no doubt and I know you got a lot of little kids in the family that that's nice. You got all American family. Mom Cooks Dinner. so throwback yeah we just you know we we. We stay at home. You know country simple life you know and and trying to stay out of the way. That's all right. That's how you know like yesterday. It was writing. It was raining and and My daughter She's been dying to get into this race and she's twenty three years old. She's a manager and he was shut down so she's over and I said Hey let's go out to the shop so glad she's asking me a million questions. I'm counting like teaching her. How about the cars and everything? So we just use bonding time now. That's really cool too. But the whole thing about when you're racing for pinks or whatever you got going on race in for cash every year your fans who love this show and they love you in precious and everybody else. Jj You gotta you gotTa keep thinking what what can we approve What what can we do better? What did we do last season? That wasn't that great. And we gotta do more of this year and I guess that's a cool thing knowing that your your fans keep expecting it to get better Right you're not. I never looked at it like this deal that I have a discovery and they just come out with their with their cameras and they film and they let us do our thing as real as it gets and of course. We're going to do things that people don't like in people are going to do things that I don't like but you that's part of just you know life we're out there and we're racing to realize is nothing's discovery don't tell me nothing and I don't tell them nothing. They sit there they do cameras and we and we raised this as real as a Kid. And that's the beauty of it. That's good stuff. What's it like when you're out on the street and you bump into somebody in there like wearing one of your t shirts got all the merge? How cool is that you know at times? It's this may sound crazy account as it and makes me a little shy. You know but you know when you know. Here's why on that. Hey I'm just beyond when always be me? I love it to the one with the cross spark plugs. That one is really cool. I gotta say you know it. Just This is really growed and thanks to discovery. They've done an awesome job. You know at at covering all of this. We're while we're doing it you know and you know there's some great moments and then there isn't bad moments that's part of life is all great. It wouldn't be real well this season. We got some new drivers. We got some first time racing teams and we got Molly Gully putting it on the line and the ugly duckling calling the car Tusla more about Molly and the in the ugly duckling their JJ. Ah You know Molly always say she She's one of the ones that proves that If you're real in your blood you know. She's been the college he's been the everything to do everything except this and she come back to Earth you know. Her father category does a great job. You know he's awesome as related gets and she drives a little travel heavy last year. This year we put her in a little sixty five Chevy two Nova now that we we took the motor out of time and she does really great job. Speaking of the ladies. Doboy you live Chelsea. She's getting behind the wheel. This season. Doboy Watch Chelsea. She's going to be driving a car that I bet your steak dinner that you've never heard of a sixty six three hundred so vail I love. Yeah those are awesome. They're tough. I believe those girls are more passionate about it than us guys feel hit in the seventies and I saw Camaro or Chevelle and they had a big blow or coming out of the Hood. Sometimes the blower is so big. I don't know how the driver could see the road. Is that just for show or is that a real thing going on there? I'm not a a big person on the blowers 'cause I don't know anything about it. But Hey those cars go really fast for those blowers you know that. Those blowers allows those motors that make six hundred horsepower to make two thousand horsepower. So you know yeah. They are tough. I've seen some really fast blowers you know me. I'm old school. You know I'm county you know I I got you know what I can put together in the shop more questions for. Jj DEMOSTRATE ALLIES MEMPHIS. Monday eight o'clock two hour season premiere. One more question about stuff on cars. I sometimes you know I know. I understand the why spoilers exists like Formula One open-wheel. You don't want the car to become airborne but when I see a Honda accord with spoiler. Is that necessary? I don't WanNA knock those cards. 'cause they suppose cars are fast also just how much you're passionate about it and saying you know the rear wing that. I don't like the looks of a rear wing. I'm not a fan of it but let me tell you that rear wing does play a big role in straight and it keeps the rear tyres planet in causes it not to spin hoppy if I get to. A road is loose. I'll start raising the wing up on those cars and it makes a major difference. You know you can put more power south now Do I like the looks now? I like the look of a real car. But that's part of it. My Dad who's in his eighties. He said as a kid is dream was always to ride in a rumble seat. Which is kind of the antithesis of safety. Now remember it used to pop out in the back. And you sit down. Did you ever getting old car? And riding a rumble seat near days. I never owned a rumour. Save that I remember my mom and dad around and it'd be wintertime in the Omega in the Mall Cars and she had me a blanket and I'll be in the floor and I feel that he also cars. You don't remember yesterday. And some of them had cloud within the fluid. Rusted out even if I gave you a choice and I said look you can just race on the street or I'll put you back on some some dirt roads there Mississippi County and Arkansas. And all that what in your heart of hearts are you more of a dirt guy or a street guy. I'm a street racer what I'm saying. Of course I grew up when I say you know you back home. That's just a form of you. Slaying when you say dirt road old gravel roads you know. Hey that's where I grew up in the small country towns right here on the age of Memphis kid right but what about making things street legal I mean. Do you care about that sometimes. Like if smokey the bear comes along and says you ain't got tail lights and you need your speedometer and all that you know you you try to respect the cops as much as possible. 'cause they're you know they're great for the country you know and You know acted slander and find on me and things wrong with nine different things you know like playing golf. What if someone took a golf club and used it the wrong way? Okay the shut off now. You know far street racing. We try to always respect cops and make sure they're safe as possible. Hey but here's a little bit of rebel in us. That's what we that's why we do it and I do speak. Raise my cousin my financial. That's why we always glued to it. I can tell you this. If Donald Trump may Mary's precious nobody in the world can outrace? That went out. Beat her on the track track. 'cause they're no what. What else can we expect in the in the new season? Do you have like a a new nemesis this. You're gonNA see these girls come out and you're going to see things you don't like and you're GonNa see things you love and if you like real you enjoy it. Hey it's it's real as it gets discovery. Don't tell us nothing. They come out with their cameras. They film us. Everything goes and yes we get passionate about what we do and because we love it. I can come hyped up thinking about it but you know those girls. Are there tough? You know their family their from generations of this racing and I love it in you know you. Don't talk out there like he would talk at home with your mother or your kids or your or your aunt or uncle because it's a different environment. Now I understand. I think discovery does a great job of finding people like you and all their shows that were while. It's a reality show. It's not like you know being on trump show or being on big brother or any of that other stuff you guys literally have found a way to at least ninety nine percent of the time. Ignore the cameras and just be yourselves right absolutely. That's what it is you know. Sometimes I I watched myself. I get embarrassed because I get so at the moment I was caught up in it and I said something but I'm Dan dear to my heart but didn't have to calm down and you're at home and you see on tv you county embarrassed or your county you know man. I wish I wouldn't have done it. Hey that's the part of being real about it. Do you get a lot of feedback from people. Talk about an especially with our troops stationed around the seas. And just knowing that you know to you. You're just doing what you do. But that it has a profound effect on some people and just helping them get through their day. Yeah absolutely I feel like you know I messed up a lot in the earlier. Part of my life you know. My mother was pentecostal. You know and I got up and made some bad choices but this part of my life I feel like I'm doing as much as I can and I'm giving back to the world and if I can you know if I can help I'm you know. Hey on their back and get out and send hug a little kid or shake a man's hand our feet are hug a female and it means something to it. Gives me the feeling knowing that doing that? Hey I guess it's not. Call me crazy street out. No well. That's why they call him the boss. It's Jj boss and it's great to have him on the show again and he's on because he's talking about a brand new season of St outlaws Memphis and that is going to debut on Monday March twenty third eight o'clock eastern and Pacific. It's a two our deal to get you going on the new season. Jj congratulations on everything. Stay safe out there buddy. And we'll talk to you soon. Thank you guys. And it's going to be often issue. There's wrestling starting back up again. 'cause things are starting to stabilize certain areas of Japan? But the reality is we have no idea what's going to happen once everything opens up again. I mean this thing could spiral out of control in Japan again. We have absolutely no idea. Whatever it's happening in Japan with things stabilizing. I mean it's very different from what's going on here in certain areas of the United States. I mean in some areas of this country. I mean we're on the same trajectory as Italy. Which is a complete disaster. It appears in Jim would probably know more about this than anybody because I'm sure he's following this. It appears that things of somewhat stabilized in Washington state. But I mean we've taken some pretty serious measures. We have not been told to stay in our homes but I mean a lot of people are just staying in their homes. A lot of people are not but California lockdown. I think New York is now had locked down so I don't think that we're GONNA be seeing a lot of live pro wrestling with crowds in this country soon. At least I mean we will at some point but Jim. What are your thoughts on the way things have been heading a couple of details on the one thing about the stardom showed corker and that I read? Is that all of the fans who attend at the door. They will be handed a mask to wear during the shell. So that's one thing to keep in mind as we talk about Cinderella Tournament. It's their big singles tournament. Crown a major star every year sort of like a future challenger. It's almost maybe Kinda like king of the ring kind of a thing. I don't know but as far as things go. You know the California order. That just came down. I think a lot of people are anticipating being here on the West Coast and given some of the edicts that have come down from our governor. Jay Inslee that. Perhaps that could be our future. My in laws are snowbirds and they're down in California and they made the decision like minutes before the announcement was made that they're going to get out because he obviously they're older and they want to be near their primary care physicians so they are on their way back to their their home here in Washington. It's a very serious situation. I hope people take it seriously and more importantly you know inform yourself with with real information. This isn't the time for feary or wild conspiracies. You don't get health information understand. The virus understand what? It does what it can do and also understand that. This isn't just about death. This is about our healthcare system where you live where I live and I'm literally about a mile away from where this all started in our state. Brian and we've talked about. I'M IMMUNO-COMPROMISED ATTENTION BUT UNDERSTAND THAT. This is about healthcare capacities. Well the hospital were right near where everything's happened in. Our state is practically full if it's not full right now and it is a very busy busy busy situation there. There are other hospitals in the Seattle area also near or at capacity and I'm sure their stories about that in other cities and other places if you live in a small town it's not affecting you be happy about that because you probably have fewer hospital beds so keep in mind. It's not just about death or comparing it to the flu. It's also about our healthcare system and not having that be overrun we'd have a bad economy ended overrun healthcare system. And that would be to to huge blows so keep that in mind. I got a question for you and I don't know if you've ever even thought about this before but there was a newspaper in China. I don't think this is a conspiracy theory. There was a newspaper in China. The reported that the first exposure may have been all the way back in the middle of November. Okay you and Dave went to the Tokyo Dome in January. Okay and have you ever considered that? Maybe there's no chance no okay. I'm just going to tell you what happened. Okay this is GonNa get me in trouble. Here's what happened. I don't WanNa get you in trouble. It's okay they're they're not listening anyway. I was sick more than likely before I got to Japan. I see okay. I more than I went because it was Christmas. Obviously before wrestle kingdom so I was at a family event and some family member showed up and they're like oh we were just sick but we're not sick anymore and I probably got it. I tried to keep my distance from these people as best I could and I failed at that and then when I got on the plane to go to Japan I got stuck in the mask section of the plane. There's like everybody around because Workman's okay great. I'm in the plane in the infirmary ward and then to top it off. There's a couple of other things it wasn't that bad. It was probably pretty mild but I was super super busy as you know in Japan. A lot of running around to do it was a holiday so I could not find a pharmacy that was opened there were they were few and far between and I couldn't get like real serious medicine that I could find in the seven elevens and things. They had a lot of herbal stuff. And some other things that work to a degree but not to the strength that I needed from a real pharmacy. You know I didn't a lot of sleep. In that time period there were a lot of factors So when I came home I went to my doctor. I got some strong medicine. I got some sleep and I'm fine so I everyone. It's funny to make a joke about that. I'm patient zero and infected. Dave and I paid. You know I didn't think you were patient. Zero. I just. I'm making an observer of Bullet Club patient zero t shirt for my new progress stores. No other reason I thought about it because you both were in Japan for Dave for sure I mean I mean one of the main symptoms. Is that dry cough and this dude is still coughing. It's it's March twentieth now. He coughed last time. It's not like it used to be but you know for a while. He had that really bad cough. So I sorta. Yeah all right. Well the taping schedules you noted not only the Cinderella showed you. Will you be given a mask at the door? But they will be taken everybody's temperatures. You must be ninety. Eight point six or below are they're not even allow you in the building which is good but I think as as most people have figured out by now a symptomatic people that don't have temperatures are also spreading this so I think the mask is actually probably going to be. It's probably better to wear the mask than to give the temperature taken honestly. So that's GonNa be the details of how to get into that show and W me at this point. I don't know what they're gonNA do for smackdown tonight. But I shouldn't even say this but I'm going anyway. The impression I have been given is that after the ECKSTEEN number came in there was a push to actually do pro wrestling on the show. Since INEX- tea was all video packages and recaps. And that show did the worst number they've ever done in the USA network so my guess is that they're going to be taping SA- matches and I don't know if they're going to go live in fact. I've got an update here tonight. The show will air live with the two subsequent smackdown some March twenty seventh April third shows taped over the next two days at the performance center. It is not clear if both tape shows will be completed tomorrow or how that will work raw. Will Air Live on March thirtieth. I'm sorry to air live this Monday. And the March thirtieth show. We'll be taped on Tuesday. Wrestlemainia appears to be being taped but the decision is being kept secret and as far as being kept secret means. The talent has no idea what's going on. They're not telling anybody anything. And I would not be surprised if there were a lot of closed sets like a cameraman to wrestlers in a referee. I don't think they'd make them sign non disclosures but God only knows at this point but that is the plan. There's a lot of taping going on for WBZ. They're barreling on through. I guess with the idea that you know. Let's get some shows in the can and hopefully by mid April will be doing live shows of fans again. We will see if that happens. It's GonNa be a trying time as far as WWe. You're still figuring out what to do it. You W you know. They did an incredible job on Wednesday. I think a lot of people acknowledged that but at the same time they were still in some uncharted water. It worked out very well. That was great of their biggest audience. So fantastic but these are uncharted. Time is going to be a lot of experimenting going on Interesting with the. Espn story as far as wrestlemanias. Now going to be flexible. Yeah hold that thought. What happened Wrestlemainia? Thirty one and thirty three and thirty three as well but this Sunday seven PM Eastern Four Pacific Classic Additions Wrestlemainia thirty so the Great Story. Line the wwe planned out so well and did the long slow burn and put so much work into the coronation of Daniel Bryan and yes L. Mania all right. So they're skipping the show where Seth beat Roman and Brock lessner. Yeah and also undertaker versus Wyatt. Maybe they didn't want to show bray white getting beaten. I duNno I duNno and triple h versus sting which I saw live and I loved and then went home and everyone said it sucked and then Wrestlemainia thirty three is a main event show. Roman reigns and the undertaker. So I guess they don't WanNa show bray white or the undertaker getting beaten so thing I can figure and Brock Leser beating Goldberg although Cadman I'd put that on. Espn think so. That's the closest thing to a sport. They've got an eighties wrestlemanias. Ed Match was awesome. But here's what I WANNA know Brian. Any thoughts on the fact that He. Spn is airing these. Does this mean. Maybe there's a deal coming for over the top content with wwe and ESPN plus. Well it's possible but I mean I I mean I think clearly they've been negotiating in fact I can tell you they've been negotiating but you know. I think a lot of this probably just has to do with me able to sell discount. And they're not gonNa make like you know the amount of money they would make for a live wrestlemainia on ESPN plus but they can make some money to sell that content is ESPN's got nothing to air. I mean there's no sports going on right now so you know the impression that I've been given is that despite would. Vince said in his last earnings call. Where like by the end of this quarter a year. We're probably GONNA have news about Wrestlemainia or not Russell. Each said his the network events and and over the top service. They are not close to a deal so whatever that means whatever that means but I'm sure they're negotiating but they're not close to a deal so it was not going to happen for Wrestlemainia one way or the other. Yeah given the situation right now. Not Kids definitely not going to happen anytime soon and for the time they were reasons outside of this to blame it on that for blame it on. Everything's happening right now. Sure that that's what they will do they will. They're going to blame everything on this. We've also got ratings for Wednesday and I talked about earlier. I mean it's patently. Obvious that at a time where everyone's at home and every major sports league is shutdown including UFC. Last fans WANNA see some action and so the dynamite show with live wrestling nine hundred thirty two thousand viewers. It was up thirty five percent from last week in eighteenth forty nine at it was up twenty two percent in total viewers and literally. It was like it. Beat everything except all of the new shows that everybody was watching. So if you weren't watching the news most people in age bracket are a lot of people are watching eight. W didn't even track in the top fifty. It was number eighty one. Second time. It's been out of the top fifty. It had five hundred forty two thousand viewers for a show of video packages. I mean you know. There's a very loyal group of of INEX- viewers but I mean even some of their diehards didn't watch the show because it was just recaps of stuff that they'd already seen and a few new interviews. Were good but people wanted to see wrestling. That's the story of Wednesday night and we'll see how that plays into tonight's raw next week. Six t how much live rustling going to have? And how are we going to shoot it the same way or the way they w did which was I mean is anybody thinks? That way wasn't better. Except like Vincent Kevin Dunn Anybody. I think those are very valid. Points the other thing. That's interesting. Is it really shows different performers and the dynamic and the situations where they really blossom and the situations where they were they. Don't you know I watched the stardom show from last week? The first one the no people gate and I expected that show to be really awkward. Like some of the shows we've seen lately and it really wasn't. I thought the performers did in amazing job and there were times where I literally was surprised that I didn't notice that the crowd was there. David shoot empty seats a little bit. Yeah I mean that's unavoidable at time. I know but it wasn't like they focused. Like the hard cam was opposite empty seats. No okay but I mean the performers went about their business like they were wrestling and like you didn't hear called spots it. The vibe was really pretty strong. I know Dave didn't feel that way. And that's that's that's fine. You can have a difference of opinion but what are your thoughts. You know being a being wrestler having experience the difference between people who are able to adapt to this type of situation and those who have ability that maybe is limited depending on the circumstances. Well I think I mean I was thinking about this when I watched the AWA show. I mean the big thing that I learned on Wednesday was I mean we always talk about how w e is rigid but my God they are rigid like we got a corona virus outbreak. We got no fans allowed in the building and they're running the show exactly the same as they always do. The exact same camera shots the exact same floating camera to show that in fact there's no people in the building. It was like a w show I watched the W show and eight. W obviously there are people there that have been cody. Jericho now Matt Hardy Etcetera Etcetera. But a lot of those people came from the indies and one of the problems early on a W was. There's like no rules like everyone's just doing all this crazy stuff they did in the indies. Because that's what they did on the indies and it took them a while to like you know Pentagon and Phoenix. You guys got a tag. I know you don't tag. You GotTa start taking we need. We need uniform rules here in. A W what are the benefits is all of these guys that worked out. Here on the indies. I mean the big stars mostly worked giant events but every single one of them worked a lot of shows with very small crowds and a lot of them also did backyard wrestling like I did backyard wrestling. I did as a kid and clearly. We didn't have fans there in the audience. I mean there's a lot of things that you can do creatively when you're doing an empty arena match a match outside with your buddies or whatever and the big difference was the. Awa crew was allowed to do that. They were allowed to do whatever they had to do to make this damn show fun. If that means Sammy Guevarra grab a mic and sing and Chris Jericho Song if that means M J F and his buddy out there gambling and screaming at the baby faces on the other side of the aisle. Whatever they did whatever they had to do to make it entertaining whereas w. e. kept it as rigid as it always is and dude if you're a creative person which you have to be to be in pro wrestling like there's a lot of ways to make a show with no fans exciting but you've got to let the wrestlers out there and be creative. That's what you've gotTa do also showed a lot of good instincts basic instincts. I mean it's like I mean. Everybody is wrestling. Should have some semblance of those instincts. I mean even the WWe crew. That's forced to do what they're told to do right now. I mean if every single one of them if w we went under tomorrow and they all had to go out on the indies. I mean some of them wouldn't be able to figure out what to do because they've been doing this style for so long but like a lot of them would very very quickly adapt to an indie style and those old instincts would come back and they'd they'd be far more creative. It would be just like a. It would be totally different. You wouldn't even recognize some of these people juice Robinson. I mean there's a prime example right there look at that Guy Annex t compared to better than almost anybody I got a better example. Cody Rhodes Cody Rhodes. When he first started on the indies very. Wwe style were like and now look at him. Well I mean to be fair. There're a lot of things about the. Wb style that are very good. Okay there's a lot of things you can learn from the way. The Debbie wants you to do the matches but it's also it's too strict it's too structured. And they're so many matches. I see where I feel like these same two guys. Did this match in. Hey W or new Japan or defy any name of promotion anywhere on the planet. If they did the match their the match would probably be better more fun. That's just my thought I was. I'm sure some people will disagree with me but I very strongly feel that way. I think it showed a lot of great instincts by a lot of performers and I think also on the flip side is this goes on at times. We're going to see maybe support. And that's that's going to happen when you're in an experimental unknown blue ocean phase like we're in right now. Not Quite sure I understand. This person's question does wrestling in an empty arena being on TV for free. Take away from the mania show because people have already been exposed to it well no because Wrestlemainia as before crowds and people are exposed to crowds. I mean not every match but a lot of the WRESTLEMANIA matches will be from parts unknown and let me tell you something if you let those people go wild with creativity. Those could be some really fun matches. But I don't know if they're going to do that. You know. I tweeted out a match. There came from one thousand nine hundred eighty seven new Japan pro wrestling. It was between Antonio Inoki of the jungle match the jungle match with Mr Saito and it's a terrible match. Don't get me wrong but it's fun. Yeah sure went out there on an island and they get a rowboat an island right but they're two smaller islands jungle boats. Hey Standby Jim back with more observer. Alvarez and Mike Zimmer v on the sports byline broadcasting network the Sheriff is busy fighting crime and because he did not answer the phone onto attempts so we will attempt to re book Keefer Bartik. That's two in a row by the way man. I we had the whole issue with phone's cutting out and not working and we tried to have Shazad Mackenzie on. Then we got the Fella who did not even give us any contact information now. This fellow's not answering the phone makes it very difficult to support all of these these folks but we'll try again. We're trying book this one and we are booked through early April so fear not everyone air is more to come. O'brien with this quarantine. I was watching some of the pro wrestling this week. The Joe Gordon Solely magazine show from the eighties and they showed a clip from a wild west wrestling which went up against briefly against world class in the eighties. And they taped from billy. Bob's honky-tonk in Fort Worth Texas like this huge honky-tonk that is still there to this day. What an amazing venue for wrestling. I wish I would've known that last December because I am now obsessed with Billy Bob's and going to see Billy Bob's and I really want wrestling to be there because it looks incredible. There Dude I want is for this this John Sina. Fiend matched actually take place at a hooters. Because that's what the scene said he said if we do this wrestlemainia before no fans. I promise it will be at hooters. Okay well that it has to be an orange light not a red light and thought of that. Hopefully no light. I'll write person. Says was mania thirty when Brock broke the streak. Let me find out feeling. It was it. Yes so they are actually air that one. It's right here in the press. Release Wow by the way. You didn't pick up on it. But I was being very sarcastic about Brian. Daniel Bryan's win because all something they lucked into even though fans wanted we kept demanding it and all of that. It wasn't planned out at all on there. It is yeah Daniel Bryan winning the title. They they so intricately planned by bearing him for several years and yes listener beating the undertaker. You don't mind book have unplugged it for Awhile. One hundred things. Wwe Fans should know and do before they die. Best Book of Two Thousand Nineteen The Observer Awards Three Time Best Book Winner. Hear Myself. Think you very much everybody. Last Time Jim was in studio. I think that if you want a nicer trophy you'd have to go to win a gauntlet match in Saudi Arabia. Oh Lord Oh Lord I actually honest to God. I don't like breaking cafe here on the show but I was going to produce like just the biggest trophy you've ever seen but I could not find one in time so I ended up with this thing right here but anyway in the book I talk about my memories of being there at Wrestlemainia thirty when the entertain her when he streaked. And it's it's fascinating in hindsight because there's two things number one guys. Oh why undertaker streak ended. Because IT VINCI'S MIND. Somebody has got to beat the undertaker on the way out and when the undertaker showed up at the building the entertainment and no undertaker showed up at the building. And I guess Vince just like he thought and this guy may be it and so he made the call that since this probably was going to be it for the entertainer. Brock was going to beat him and so brought. Beat the undertaker at here. We are six years later. Undertaker still doing these high profile matches wrestlemainia. If the meantime he took off his boots and his gloves when he wrapped everything up and laid them on the mad and basically did a retirement ceremony in the ring. They came right back. It's like A. I mean it helped make listener but dude related need to be made. It made the guy who made the face who had made. I can think of that gentleman's name cool guy but anyway it's really shows the difference between the thought process of people in wrestling and the fans. I mean I understand like the old thought of you. Leave the territory you leave on your back. I understand that thought but there are certain things that reach a level where it's now ruined fans can't talk about that anymore because not only was it. Ruined with rocket was double ruined with Roman reigns. It reached a historic legendary level. Which should not have been touched. Same thing with Kofi Mania the way they killed Kofi in seven seconds. You know that mattered. And now they're trying to show documentaries on the network. Oh remember the inspirational Kofi. Maybe I'm just like I got a bad taste in my mouth because of the way you killed it. There's a different sometimes. A disconnect where people in wrestling don't understand the way some things are viewed. I mean yes. People do need to lose. Not Everybody can win. Not everyone gets the Goldberg Streak. But there are a few things like the undertaker's streak and Kofi Mania where it's at a certain level where hey let's not try to ruin these beautiful memories we've created but then they go and ruin them because wrestling thing. I would mention is that and I'm not the only wanted has happened to you but it was. It was bizarre. I'm watching the match and listeners and F. Five and entertainer kicks out and nobody in the crowd thought anything of it this early in the match because nobody in the crowd believed the Brooklyn was beating the undertaker. If you remember the bill to the match it wasn't even much of a bill. It was just like they. They announced it and then it was like going to take place. It wasn't like he was a six month feud or anything like that so it was like just kind of a throwaway match for both guys. Nobody thought that Brockett any chance of winning and I swear to God when he hit whatever at five that was like the fourth F. Five or whatever I and many other people who were there live we all remember the entertainer kicked out and all of a sudden they were playing brock's music and like nobody had any idea what happened. We're baffled like what did they screw up to the refs. Screw up like he kicked out and you know everyone's in shock after awhile and finally they show that replay and dude. He didn't kick out at all he was dead like he was flat on his back Brock. Laser pens guy and industry. It was like the craziest thing like I was not the only one of the thought that I when I talked about on the show. The people going. I saw the same thing like he kicked out. I guess just having seen undertaker kick out so many times and your brain telling you. There's no way this guy streak is getting broken by Brock. Laser here at this wrestlemainia like our brains just kicked out for him. But it didn't happen. That was the end the end of the week. It's crazy I remember used to be talked about. I remember I watched an episode jeopardy one time where it came up and even Alex Trebek knowledged. It like he knew about it to some degree. That Alex Trebek's does Jon Stewart. Used to talk about it on the daily show when he was on it was a thing and now it's like. Oh yeah remember that time. He'd lost brock. Oh yeah remember the time that Roman one and got nothing out of a two yard and he's the big dog and you just like I said. There's just a disconnect sometimes sometimes. Wwe Is right and fans don't always understand but this was a big. Maybe their biggest disconnect Kofi mania and losing the undertaker's streak. Those things were beautiful memories and they ruined them for really. No good reason may see something here so I've been alerted if you go to the instagram of Ricochet which. I don't even know what is in screaming type in ricochet here. God only knows what might come up that King Ricochet Kenya on twitter. So yeah he has shaved his face. They said that true. I don't see that picture. What's this guy talking about so I guess new look from Ricochet? Oh here he is. He's he's going out to the beach. I think up no. He's got a beard. I don't know what this guy's talking about anyway. That's that that's what we that's what's breaking news here on this show at this point. They'd Ricochet Shaver. Not all right. This person here's says Bray White is been the best thing about these no fan. Wbz shows his character really shines in these quiet environments. I look forward to seeing what he does tonight. Well I mean the interview segments with Johnson was very good but guess what the edge one was to. I think the key is if you're a great interview if you're a great promo and you don't rely on audience reaction for your promos. Then yeah this. This empty Ren- is not the worst thing in the world. I seen some good promo work done with. No no fans the fans air to ruin it. Yeah there's no chance I was actually kind of hoping they would do the hall of fame in Empty Arena Hall of fame. So he wouldn't have idiots. Try to hijack everybody's speeches every thirty seconds with a you deserve it. You still got it done at and just like not make it about themselves and just a nice quiet respectful atmosphere or can pay tribute to these people and they're very special night as opposed to people who wanna make it about themselves. And did you hear that chance? I got going but it'll be delayed but hopefully people were respectful. If there is an audience in the future says I was listening to last night's Brian Vinnie show when Vinnie pointed this thing during talking about the trump of Gargano field feud I also believed Ethics D. T. is indeed the show filled with characters that have shades of gray. It is more personality strong. The W which has clear baby faces and heels exact opposite sentiment cody presented a year ago. Then I did a little research and you know what I found out. There's only been one. Concrete turn in the history of Awa so far and that is Brit Baker. Everybody else's stayed true to their traits. M J F is an exception. Who is a. He'll but still stayed with cody before he betrayed them. That's right I mean. They are very very consistent. Maybe face and heel characters and I said this months ago when cody said the thing about shades of gray I was like I watched this show. There are not shades of gray. Like there's there's baby faces and there's heels now to a degree when you've got the hangman and the young bucks and Kenya Omega. And they're all having they're all having issues there and Chris Jericho's character even pointed out. No one has any issues in the inner circle. We've never hit each other with our finisher. Well elite is having problems and so it is a little bit shades of gray. Whose side are you on as a fan and sometimes you get fans booing or cheering different people but I mean at the end of the day. Everyone is true to their character. I think that's great. It's really been fantastic. And you can see the psychology of everybody. You understand what everybody does. And even when someone's surprises you like the drawn out story line without them page. He's still been consistent with his character. Nobody's ever you've never gone. What was that about yeah? They've had to pivot a couple of times. The dark order at the beginning things like that but by and large everybody has a moral compass a moral code and a psychology and they have been very if not completely consistent of all of those so this person says any truth to the rumor of listener who lives in scheduling. If I'm not mistaken not being able to make it to me because of the travel ban. Well okay so all I can tell you for sure is that they believe Brock's during the match and I don't know Marach is an American citizen but he has a house in schedule on and he lives there and I don't know I actually don't know if he's a dual citizen but I presume that he is and I think as a dual citizen my guess is that strings can be pulled and he can fly to and from Canada. Yeah I've only brock work for somebody who had connections with with the federal government presidents in their hall of fame for crying out loud or maybe a member cabinet. I don't know yeah rich. People have a way of getting things done. I think he'll be just fine. I actually as a decent point here any chance. They fill matches twice with different finishes. And then. Vince picks whichever one he wants. So like basically to avoid getting out spoilers you have drew beat. Brock and Brock beat drew and then on Wrestlemainia Sunday. I'm sure Broccoli told but maybe drew it after watched the show to find out whether he was champion or not. I mean you could do that. I don't I can't even say anything. They can do. Special thing where drew comes out with the belt? It'll be just like lex Luger all over again. Look there's you have to go to ricochets instagram story. And you could see him with a shaved face. Seven News Stream is supported by advertisers and contributions by you follow us on facebook twitter and instagram on that curve because like when can Italy for example? The people have gotten very creative. They're starting to see a little bit of that here as well and I mean you kind of applaud that because they're doing the best songs on their belt songs on their balcony exactly because it's been going on for some time there and you know here in in this area and in Illinois it's been only only for a couple of days we were just at the beginning of this of this particular Stay in order Shelter in place order. Which is when we're hearing and we're exponentially exponential increases in the number of cases. Now maybe some of that is due to the fact. That more testing is available now But if we're still seeing that exponential increase. I think this is an order. That might stay in place for a while. I don't know I mean. I think the governor's going to announce what the timeframe is I had heard through. Most of April I mean schools are now closed until well and that's in Chicago public schools so then rate order will probably come with something more about Illinois schools. Because if you're planning a shelter in order place for the entire state for you know say through April than that obviously extends The the the closure for schools as well in are we talking about schools going back to school in May have been wrap up in June Kansas. The state of Kansas was already closed schools for the rest of the year I was speaking with someone who works in early education earlier today. The fear is that the schools are not going to reopen the school year. So there's a lot of a lot of repercussions that come from from what we're having to do to to maintain public health and so hopefully we'll get a lot of answers today. Press conference again if you're if you're tuning in the governor is expected to address the state from the Thompson Center downtown Chicago about a wide shelter in place order He would be following what they instituted in California about mandating folks stay in their homes not leave to go to work unless it's critical Critical list of critical industries and jobs. That will will be exempt from this and not leave to you know. Most businesses will be closed unless you're Food Service Grocery Store restaurant where you can go in and and take food out So you know it's a kind of continuation of what we've seen You know we've also heard reports brandis. I think both of us have heard that C. P. B. has gotten noticed to be on call now two. There's talk about the National Guard being used sort of To assist medical professionals I don't know that we know exactly how police officers are law enforcement is going to be Deputized in this situation. But I think there's going to be a role here And and I don't think I want to caution it's not to be putative again. Mayor Bill Park who is instituted disorders. That we're not. We're not out there to be punitive. I do think it's to assist Perhaps in getting supplies to people perhaps to assist first responders. I think I I expect we're going to hear a little bit that too and and it could be you know maybe tickets aren't being written certainly not going to arrest anybody if they find them out or asked them to prove why you need to be there but it could be a gentle nudge. Like you know you really. You really need to get back inside or you really need to get home If you know if these folks should see someone on the street just kind of encouragement. Maybe I don't know what they're going to be doing. Obviously but you know. There's I'm looking at a tweet that the governor sent Several hours ago In this you know he obviously he's not going to tweet What the plan is that? We're hearing today Some reporters broken this story. We're all getting this word now that this shelter place okay. Brennan I'm told. Governor IS STEPPING UP PODIUM. Now so let's listen in. On the governor's speech good afternoon seven to announce that we have lost another Illinois on to Cova Nineteen. She was a Cook County resident in her seventies. My thoughts today are with her family and her friends may her memory be for blessing as this epidemic has progressed. We've had to make some hard decisions. I'd like to take a minute to give you a window into my decision making because I think you have a right to know why I've taken the actions that I've taken. You have a right to the truth as difficult as it may be the here because you can bare it over the last few weeks I've reached out to and relied on some of the best. Medical experts epidemiologists mathematicians and models to help me understand what the progression of this disease will look like in Illinois. My bedrock has been to rely upon science real actual signing around infection rates and potential mortality in my discussions with these experts. I've asked for honesty and hard truths. I asked that choices and consequences of those choices be laid out for me as clearly and starkly as possible. I've asked every one of these experts. What action can I take to save the most lives? Well they've come back to me with one inescapable conclusion to avoid the loss of potentially tens of thousands of lives. We must enact an immediate stay at home order for the State of Illinois. So that is the action that. I am announcing today. We have looked closely at the trajectory of this virus. In countries like Italy and China left unchecked cases in Illinois will rise rapidly. Hospital systems will be overwhelmed. Protective Equipment will become scarce and we will not have enough healthcare workers or hospital beds or ventilators for the overwhelming influx of sick patients. The only strategy available to us to limit the increase in cases and ensure our healthcare system has capacity to treat. Those who become ill is to mitigate the spread of Corona virus in the most robust manner. Possible I don't come to this decision easily. I fully recognized that in some cases I am choosing between saving people's lives and saving people's livelihoods but ultimately. You can't have a livelihood if you don't have your life of all the obligations that way on me as governor. This is the greatest if there are actions that I can take that will save lives in the midst of this pandemic no matter how difficult then I have an obligation to take these actions therefore starting tomorrow evening Saturday march twenty first at five pm until the end of April Seventh. All our residents will be subject to a stay at home order. There is a great deal of misunderstanding. About what a stay at home order means so I want to clarify it for everybody. Here's what we'll stay the same. You'll still be able to leave your house to go to the grocery store to get food. You'll still be able to visit a pharmacy go to a medical office or hospital or gas up your car at a gas station. You'll still be able to go running and hiking and walk your dog. Many many people will still go to work for the vast majority of you already taking precautions. Your lives will not change very much. There is absolutely no need to rush out to a grocery store or gas station on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday and every day thereafter those will be available to you agriculture and the press veterinarians and plumbers laundromats and banks roads bridges and transit. The fundamental building blocks that keep our society safe and steady will not be closing down. You can still pick up dinner from your local restaurant. Pick up your prescriptions and just spend time with your family. We are doing all that we can to maintain as much normalcy as possible while taking the steps that we must to protect you that brings me to what will change all non-essential businesses must stop operating. If you can work from home and aren't already doing so now is the time when you must the heroes of this moment. Our healthcare workers first responders law enforcement officers and the individuals and organizations like the Illinois AFL CIO and other workers who keep our grocery stores and pharmacies. Running cannot stay home. We need you. This executive order is fundamentally about the rest of us and what we can do to support the people on the front lines of this fight and the people most vulnerable to its consequences. We know this will be hard. And we're looking at every tool that we have to help you through this crisis for our essential workers. We're going to make sure you have safe daycare to take care of your children while you do. The critical work to save us and to keep us safe for those who are asking to stay home where ordering municipalities. Sorry to those that we are asking to stay home. We're ordering municipalities across the state to halt all evictions. We need our local leaders to help ensure our families do not lose their homes. Also directing additional resources to organizations across the State to serve those experiencing homelessness for our students. Your School district will continue to provide you with meals and we will back them up in this. I wish I could stand up here and tell you when your schools will safely re open but that is not an answer that I have. At this time we're postponing are tentative reopening date statewide until April eighth and will continue to update you with new information. As we haven't to be honest we don't have the resources. The capacity or the desire to police every individual's behavior enforcement comes in many forms in our first and best option is to rely on Illinois to be good members of their communities and good citizens working together to keep each other safe. I've instructed law enforcement to monitor for violations and take action when necessary but that is not an option that anyone prefers the easy thing to say. Today is that soon everything will go back to the way it was but I want to be honest with you about that too. We don't know yet all the steps we're going to have to take to get this virus under control but here's what I do know about one hundred and fifty years ago. The city of Chicago burned to the ground. When the ashes cleared we passed laws requiring buildings be built with fire proof material. We invented skyscrapers. Chicago went from a small Midwest town to one of the biggest cities in the United States. And just to make a point we built the Chicago Fire Academy on the very spot where the Great Chicago fire started. Burning in the coming days and weeks we're going to expand testing in Illinois to figure out how to detect covert nineteen more quickly and more efficiently our scientists. Our doctors are working on treatments. Even now they will screen people more effectively isolate them more quickly and attack this more efficiently. They're going to learn and as they learn they're going to innovate. They're already on a path to develop a vaccine. Our healthcare infrastructure will adapt because it must this will not last forever however it's going to force us to change but that's okay. Any event of this magnitude should force us to change we here in Illinois have overcome obstacles before and we'll do so again and we will rise to this occasion. Thank you and now. I'd like to introduce the mayor of the city of Chicago Lori. Lightfoot governor I have to say again. Thank you for Your partnership but your leadership in this incredible time I've heard from people all over the country That they feel that Illinois is in good hands because of your leadership so thank you very much As the governor just announce He is issuing a stay at home order. And I hope you think of it that way. this is clearly not a decision that was made lightly nor by any one person and I. Echo the governor's statement. These are only difficult choices to be made but their choices that must be made for the good of all of our residents. The governor local leaders and iron full agreement that we need to act swiftly and in this decision is necessary as the governor alluded to we have seen what bold measures of yielded in places like Japan and Singapore and South Korea and sadly we are witnessing what is not happening around the world and countries that did not mobilize corona virus will not go away by happenstance. We MUST BE INTENTIONAL. About taking steps to flatten a curve. Today's announcement along with other steps taken in the last two weeks or intended to do just that we can only save lives and blunt the spread of this virus by keeping as many people as practical at home and safe and I want to talk specifically about what this will mean for Chicago. Our City In the absence of leadership from the Federal Government frankly is doing the following finalizing securing quarantine and isolation locations bolstering hospital capacity supporting our healthcare workers and first responders and doing everything possible to relieve the pressure on them and building supply chain to make sure that critical equipment to the healthcare system. Things like ventilators peas and other important supplies are available and given to areas of need we will continue to identify. Residents are sick and is sure they receive the treatment and resources as well rightfully deserve and put them on a path to recovery. As it's happened already with many are healthcare workers have been at the forefront of this pandemic. They're working around the clock and putting their own health on the line to keep those who need it. Most that means we as a city must do everything we can to help them. Now is not the time for half measures. But preventative and proactive plans. Once rooted in science and data and to mitigate the spread and ultimately to save lives unless we clear this has to be a two way street while the responsibility of our government is to build a plan. Your personal responsibility is to take all necessary precautions to keep yourself safe and formerly include In order to stay at home I know they're about. We are asking a lot of resonance and to make Norma sacrifices. I also understand That these times can be causing anxiety and again. Think of this as safer at home. But here's a reality. We've issued commonsense public health guidance this announcement today as a next step NA- progression so many chicagoans of already heated our calls to stay home practising social distancing for those residents. Today's announcement won't drastically change the day to day changes you've already taken but while many of listen some have not. It's clear that the time is now for us to be very definitive in telling people that you must stay home. The governor are explained what this order is and what it requires when each of us and I want to say in beclere is not in lockdown or martial law as the governor said and I want to reiterate Chicago's grocery stores pharmacies and clinics will remain open. And there's absolutely no need to change your normal purchasing patterns. What I mean is. Do not take this direction. As a reason to run to the stores by everything in sight and hoard vital supplies please the grocery stores will remain open and stock so be mindful of your neighbors and do not hoard supplies. Hospitals will continue to treat patients. The city's essential services will not cease the CTO will run. Airports will be open and your garbage will be collected. And yes you can still go outside for a walk. And but practice social distancing remember. This is the new normal for now. I think and I hope people recognize and understand that these decisions are being made for the long term health of everybody everywhere in our entire state. Let me remind you that Some helpful resources that you can access to stay informed during this crisis for Chicago. The best and most up-to-date information is public health. Well site website. Chicago DOT GOV FORWARD SLASH CORONA virus? And if you'd like to get text alerts text kkob in Nineteen that C. O. V. I D. Nineteen to seven eight zero one. Five that's Colbert. Live I also want to announce it? In light of this order. We will be closing fully Chicago Parks and libraries for the duration of his order. Some of these facilities may be re purpose to help support some other essential services by third parties but effective tomorrow at five PM. All city parks and libraries will be closed. This is a make or break moment for a city in our state never in our lifetime has our own health been so intertwined with the health of every single person with whom we interact neighbors. Coworkers loved ones frontline. Workers please realize your responsibility to them and continue to take care of yourself. Now as I said recently while this is a period of physical isolation we should remain in contact with our families friends and neighbors please call and check in with seniors people who are vulnerable. We have disrupted normal social networks and interactions but it is critically important that we not lose our sense of community. This is not a time for every man for himself. This is time for every man woman and child to be together. The choices we make today can renew and restore health and Prosperity and Chicago and throughout Illinois. It is time to do more to flatten the curve and build our pathway to the other side I have faith in Chicago's resolve and resiliency to help us get there. Thank you very much. Thank you mayor very much for your remarks and Ladies and gentlemen I Have over time been relying upon experts both here in Illinois across the nation The research that they've done the work that they've done has guided me in many of the decisions that I have made. I thought it would be important to have one of those experts. Here today. It's outside of our department of Public Health Who has some very important guidance And background on why? This order is so important. And so I've asked the lead epidemiologist at University of Chicago Medicine to join US here today. Dr Emily Landon good afternoon. Everyone first of all I want to send my sincere gratitude and support to all of the healthcare workers in Illinois and around the world despite doing our best to prepare for a respiratory virus pandemic. We now find ourselves facing a brand new virus with too little information. Not Enough personal protective equipment changing protocols every single day and no second chances the University of Chicago Medicine and every other hospital in the state has been and is working very closely with our public health departments without these partnerships with each other and with public health and the CDC we could not have made it this far and we will not get much further and so I also express my gratitude to everyone working in public health all of us in the field of infectious diseases and the public health community are united in our efforts and agree with this course of action. I have spoken with many of my com Michael colleagues across the city and the state and we all acknowledge that this is the only way forward. This virus is unforgiving it spreads before you even know you've caught it and it tricks you into believing that it's nothing more than a little influenza from any of us in. May Not be much more than the flu. And so it can be very confusing as to why schools are closed restaurants or shuttered and now the viruses taking. What's left of our precious liberty but the real problem is not the eighty percent who will get over this week. It's the twenty percent of patients. The older those that are immuno-compromised. Those that have other medical problems. Who are going to need a bit more support some oxygen or maybe a ventilator life support. We do amazing. Things like this to save patients in our American hospitals across the world every single day. But we can't take care of everyone at once and we can't keep that low mortality. Promise if we can't provide the support that our patients need our healthcare system doesn't have any slack. There are no empty wards for waiting for patients or nurses waiting in the wings. We barely even have enough masks for the nurses that we have looking back to the last time we were limited tools and having a dangerous infection spread quickly was the beginning of the nineteen eighteen. Pandemic two cities in America made different choices about how to proceed and when only a few patients were affected. Saint Louis shut itself down and sheltered in place but Philadelphia went ahead with a huge parade to celebrate those going off to war a week later. Philadelphia hospitals were overrun and thousands. Were dead many more than in Saint Louis. This is a cautionary for our time. Things are already tough in Illinois hospitals including mine. There's no vaccine or readily available antiviral to help stem the tide. All we have to slow. The spread is distance social distance. And if we let every single patient with this infection in fact three more people and then each of them in fact two or three more people. There won't be a hospital bed when my mother can't breathe very well or when you're coughing too much so in my house. We've made a lot of sacrifices. We don't go out anymore since the first time. I've left my house and some days because I'm leading our efforts and emergency planning from my home. My Son has traded in Sports Science Conference and the Fifth Grade. Bake sale for puzzles me learning and some video chats. This isn't the life any of US expected and there are others who will make much greater sacrifices and there are many more disappointments to come. But this isn't going to be forever like the governor said. It will last longer than any of US wanted to but in the end we will look back and see it as just a piece of what happened in our whole lives and we have to remember that. How can soccer or Book Club be so dangerous? Why ask so much of people just a few hundred cases because it's the only way to save those lives and now is the time because the numbers you see today in the news are the people that got sick a week ago and there are still people today who got sick today. Who Haven't even noticed that they've been sick yet. They picked up the virus and it will take a week to see that show in. Our number's waiting for hospitals. To be overwhelmed will leave the following weeks patients with nowhere to go in short without taking drastic measures. That healthy optimistic among us. Will doom the vulnerable. We have to fight this fire before it grows too high. These extreme restrictions may seem in the end a little anti-climactic because it's really hard to feel like you're saving the world when you're watching Netflix. From your couch but if we do this right nothing happens. Yeah a successful shelter in place. Means that you're going to feel like it was all for nothing and you'd be right because nothing means that nothing happened to your family and that's what we're going for here even starting now. We can't stop the cases from coming fast and furious at least for the next couple of weeks and in the short term but with a real commitment to sheltering in place and a whole lot of patience we can help protect our critical workers who need to use public transportation in order to safely get from where they need where they need to go. We can give our factories time to ramp up production of all that. Pp's so that we have enough masks to last and we can make more medications and learn more about how we can use them to help save more lives. Even a little time makes a huge difference. It will take more than a week to start seeing the rate of increase slowdown. And that's a complicated thing to say it'll take even longer to see the rate come down and see it slowing and infections going down so please don't give up. I've lived in Illinois my entire life and I know we'll get through this together and find a way back to the life that we used to live public. Health and hospitals have been working hard for a long time. And now it's your turn to do your part a huge sacrifice to make but a sacrifice that can make thousands of differences. Maybe even a difference in your family to A. I'd like to ask Dr Z. K. To join us now good afternoon. Thank you Dr Landon for that impassioned plea think you. I think your message ring loud across. Everyone's ears who heard that as governor mentioned I am saddened to announce another individual in Illinois with the corona virus who has passed away and that individual was a resident of Cook County who was in her seventies. We now have five hundred. Eighty five cases of covert nineteen and twenty five counties across Illinois as the number of covert nineteen cases. Being reported continues to rise every single day the state of Illinois is working to increase testing capacity by working with Illinois Hospital to implement testing within their facilities. We want to strengthen the testing capacity in Illinois by helping hospitals and laboratories to develop their own testing ability and we expect to have these tests available within the healthcare system in the next few weeks. Additionally the state is working with the Department of Health and Human Services to setup drive-thru testing sites and some of the hardest hit areas of the state one of these community based testing sites will be operated by the State of Illinois was support from the US Health and Human Services. Three additional sites are a federal state private partnership the State of Illinois with the health and Human Services and both walgreens and Walmart. We WanNA thank both of these businesses for their support during this difficult and unprecedented time. These facilities will focus on senior citizens first responders and healthcare workers. We're finalizing these plans now and look forward to announcing more in the coming days. Hospital capacity is another area. We are focusing on identifying resources and ways to increase bed capacity and Illinois to treat those who contract the novel Corona Virus. The state has been working with other jurisdictions and businesses to reopen recently opened hospitals. We are currently doing assessments at different hospitals in Illinois to determine the current condition of the facility the medical resources available staffing levels. And what else might be needed to open these facilities? In order to provide medical care for individuals with Kofi Nineteen additionally we have worked with our federal partners to develop guidance for hospitals to adopt telehealth protocols so that individuals with mild respiratory symptoms can talk to a healthcare provider before seeking medical care and possibly infecting others in the process. We ask again that everyone do their part so that we can reserve both testing capacity and medical care availability including ICU capability for those. Who Need it the most? If you are a healthy individual with only mild symptoms please stay home and allow those who are at highest risk of severe illness to receive the testing and the medical care that they need. We thank you for your cooperation at no previous time. Have we seen how interconnected we all are? And how everyone's decision or indecision can affect others. Thank you and now I will summarize the comments For our Spanish speaking audience windows May I'm on the case director? They'll they'll departamento. They Salute Public Hockey in Illinois. Thank you Dr. Z K on behalf of the one thousand two hundred ninety eight cities villages and towns throughout Illinois all represented by the Illinois Municipal League. We stand in support of the governor's actions today and we will fully cooperate to administer the local aspects of managing compliance and enforcement during this critical time mayors village presidents town Presidents Alderman Council and board members across the state from Chicago to Cairo from Quincy to Danville where elected to provide for and protect the health safety and welfare of their communities and their constituents. The governor's executive orders previously. And today do just that. Local governments and local elected officials are the closest to the people and we will get the most questions and conflicts while implementing these important steps. We ask for patience and understanding as residents encounter local public safety public works and other first responders during this time we will share as much information as possible at all times with the public and we will maintain openness and accessibility throughout municipal operations will continue although obviously limited to essential functions community leaders. Prepare for and handle natural disasters and unknown events as best we can and this is no different. Thank you and at this time. I'd like to introduce Dan. Cronin Chairman of the dupage county board. Good afternoon over the past several weeks. The governor and local leaders have been forced to make difficult decisions that disrupt our routines our businesses our lives trying to make the best choice in a series of tough choices when we consider the impacts on business in the economy and we tried to strike just the right balance when we acknowledge the costs to families to employers our workforce and our entire community. We must always remember that. Our first obligation as public officials is to protect the health and safety of our citizens during a public health crisis. These are people's lives. Today's actions represents a sincere bipartisan effort to fulfil the responsibility government has to the public to combat the spread of covert nineteen while at the same time preserving the operations of essential businesses and our local economy as much as possible. Please know our decisions are not made lightly. I sincerely appreciate the governor reaching out to me to learn more about the needs of our county are municipalities and our business community. We've heard worked very hard to create a balanced measured thoughtful approach. This is a great example. Avila annoyance coming together in the face of a serious challenge. I believe we will carry forward this same spirit of cooperation and collaboration when the immediate health crisis has passed because at that time we will face additional difficult choices and challenges. I hope all elected officials in Illinois will work together moving forward when it's time to re-open restore our commercial equilibrium. Come out of this crisis and get everyone back to business back to building our Illinois Economy. Better days are ahead but together we seek. Everyone's cooperation now. Is We act as one Illinois united to weather this storm united as we must be prioritizing people's lives and their health nothing is more important and with that. The governor will answer some questions. Thank you very much district chairman. I just want to reiterate what the chairman just said. Which is there really is nothing political about this virus or the response to it We've been in consultation. Democrats and Republicans talking to one another political leaders. Nonpartisan elected leaders trying to get this right and so with Adam. Happy to take any questions that you may have. I WANNA point out. We're going to have some questions coming from people who are not in the room. Reporters who are working from home and elsewhere will take questions from them after we take people questions from right here in the room. Yes Sir Anthony. Down at the vine punishment. Either that shouldn't be operating that are operating or individuals out so The Emergency Management Act the public health. Act in the state of Illinois. We can give you the citations for those Give the authority to either the governor or the director of Public Health To make decisions as we have for the state and so I'm happy for you to the to the legal sections of it. I have my general counsel here as well who formerly was at the attorney. General's office and Has the legal sites to give you and the other half of your question around. We're we're calling on pond people to use their best judgment to follow the guidance that we're giving them We're of course Authorizing that That members of law enforcement. If they see somebody who's violating this order they would go talk to them and ask them not to And then if the people who are violating the rule Refused TO COMPLY. A police officer could get a cease and desist order. They'd have to go get one that a court to do that And then finally in you know in last resort really You know there is the kind of reckless conduct. Misdemeanor could someone could be charged with but look. We anticipate that people will follow this order There can be consequences at the local level Recinding people's permits to do business If it's a business person And and other consequences but in the end here what we're really asking people to do is to do what they know. They ought to which is to stay at home and for those who can't say at home because they may be homeless. We are providing and attempting to provide shelter for those people. I'm doing our best to to arrange that. That's something we care. I care deeply about. I know the mayor and the chairman does to Care deeply about even in other times Now it's vitally important that we try to find a shelter for them. Yes Dana Dana. Yeah Bob Impossibility I made plus lightfoot what does that look like and how in order all of it. I think as the governor said what we're hoping to do in Chicago and I'm assuming this will happen in other communities across the state we're going to try to educate people on the compliance Look the reality is if you look at what's happened over the Ark of the last ten days people are staying at home there. Tella working They are Really paring down as we are in city government to the bare essence only going out When they need to go out so I don't expect that there's going to be widespread disagreement or violations of his order but our police departments going to be instructed that they see someone on the street. They can engage him in conversation. If they're not supposed to be al they'll give them an admonition to go home and I think for most people that will be enough. Well I look. I'm not going to get into the nuts and bolts of of resources deployment. Suffice it to say we WANNA make sure that we have enough resources on the street to keep people safe to make sure that we're protecting businesses and other property off about. Yeah thank you for those. Who ARE WATCHING. Can't hear the question. I'm smiling because there have been a lot of rumors circulating around that are Completely inaccurate rumors that there's martial law that's going to be imposed that we've called out the guard or the military out to impose their will upon the state of Illinois. Those are all false And I want people to take a deep breath. People who've heard these rumors remember in addition to people who just like to forward rumors around on twitter or on facebook There is also. I hate to tell you An effort by the Chinese government and the Russian government to feed into that paranoia. That people have about What's going on the covert Nineteen Challenge that we have all across the United States and so I appreciate the question because I have had to beat back rumors. Every day. Our staff has to even heard it from responsible. People who've heard it from someone maybe slightly less responsible who heard it from somebody who's just making it up And so that is why. We've had daily press conferences. I want you all to have the truth and giving you what I know. Honestly I'm bringing the experts to you so that you can hear directly from them. What's really going on and I'm acting in a way that I think is responsive to the facts to the science and the medicine that we have at hand as it relates of or your I'll just quickly say that that are. Dnr Parks are closed but And we don't have our personnel working at the park. There are a lot of local parks. Though around the state and the decisions about those parts will be made just as they are here in. Chicago by the Mayor of the city council Or by county board about whether those will be open to the public in their areas for the most part. I think that People have the ability to go out and recreate What WE ARE What we are trying to discourage is People recreating and not and not You know getting together. We want people not to get so close together that they're violating this kind of six foot rural We want social distancing You can still go out and you know and Enjoy the outside outdoors. You can walk your dog and so on. We just want people to be extra careful when they're out to be respectful of all the other people that are out and about so happy turn over to the ESA walk around in the park space. We're not cordoning off the Park Sleep. But what we're saying is that the facilities That happened open whether it's parks libraries are going to be closed starting tomorrow at five o'clock and we're going to turn to questions from the phone. What does this mean for domestic travel into and out of Illinois should delivery service? Workers Still Report to work the question. I think everybody can hear you. the The answer to the question is the delivery. Workers should still show up to work. We need people to To show up to deliver their so many things that need to be deliver. Our supply chain needs to continue. I even mentioned in my remarks about restaurants making sure that their delivery services are available to people so we would encourage people in fact. Who have delivery jobs to make sure that you're checking in with your employer but we are in fact that's an essential function for our state and for all the cities municipalities counties across our state health available for caring for the children of essential workers. Yes so we are working very hard to provide a childcare especially for essential workers We WanNa make sure that we're standing up remember. We don't want to put too many children or Childcare workers in the same room together in the same facility so we're actually working to provide the right size small sizes of perhaps a half dozen children for especially for our healthcare workers. I WANNA point out and I I would like to just make a special plea as go as the mayor was suggesting that our healthcare workers are really on the frontlines here so whatever you can do to make their lives easier including helping them with childcare helping them with getting groceries perhaps and dropping them off at their door. I would very much appreciate that. I know they would appreciate then. You really be doing something important for our state are there. Any plans currently plays for the Department of Juvenile Justice to let the two hundred and twenty-five youth held in juvenile detention centres to return home. It seems like it would be much easier calculation than for the adult prison population The Juvenile Department of Juvenile Justice in this state. We do not have very many Kids who are in those facilities in general i. It's a little over two hundred suggested We are making sure to maintain social distancing in those facilities And you know where we can. We're certainly going to look at the possibility of those kids being allowed to return home but most importantly we want them to have shelter. We want them to be safe and healthy. We're going to work very hard to make that. Make sure that that happens especially for those children so do see obviously a slightly more complex issue. The Department of Corrections though is something that we've looked very closely at their obviously people who were held in Cannes in confined spaces and cells in in prisons And we know that. There's a risk as there is anywhere where you might put a lot of people together. That would be an infection. And so we're working very hard to to make sure their areas for segregating people who may get the flu or get a cold or some other condition that if cove in nineteen Was something that might infect them their word and Co Morbidity as they call it And so we're we're working hard in our prisons to make sure that happens. And as I mentioned it at a point in an earlier press conference Russell looking at the possibility of people with nonviolent defenses Who have served much of their time That the possibility of alleviating some of the burden in the Department of Corrections by allowing them to be paroled with a lot of conditions associated with that Mayor Governor. Have either of you or anyone close to you or on senior staff and tested for virus. What precautions are you taking as your face with governing through this crisis My Staff Thank. Goodness has been healthy We had somebody who went home not feeling well at one point and ultimately She was tested and tested negative She's back at work. She feels fine now. we've all been practicing social distancing we've been I think Doing a good job of We've let a lot of our staff work from home So there are not very many of us. there's a core group that are working in the governor's office But everybody that works in. The governor's office is working from somewhere. if not in the governor's office in terms of myself. I mean I'm working day and night you know we're all working hard I think As hard as we work we know that we have a mission here of keeping people safe and so I'm going to continue to do that but I am practicing. I think The proper distancing and and You know Rules that I think we've given to everybody else the mayor I'm sorry There's nobody on my team that I'm aware of that has tested positive Obviously we've had city workers who have In each instance where that's happened we've done the of public health Investigation that we would do with anybody else. Which is we department of Public Health Immediately examine talks to them. Talks to their CO workers. We take the media pro Cleaning precautions to make sure that we're keeping the rest of their coworkers safe We've told folks is as we've been paring down to essential services. A lot of our workforce is working from home like with the state. And I don't think you can walk more than a couple of feet in my office if there's not a hand sanitizing dispenser of some sort so as the governor said we know it's critically important for us as leaders to remain healthy trying to get as much sleep as we can I don't do enough exercise in in good time so but We are trying to do walks in and make sure that we have some time during the course of the day just to have downtime decompress from everything that's going on okay. This'll be our final question. You've said this order is until April seventh. But how do you know it might not go longer than that look? I think you've seen that we've had to work quickly. Act Based upon the information that we're given guidance by the CDC what the experts are telling us. So I'm not gonNa tell you as I said earlier. I'm not going to tell you that I know that That the end of April seventh is The The you know that we that is in fact it ultimately the end date We believe that that gives us time and again I've spoken with The experts Dr Landon for example and others We believe that gives us time to see whether or not this social distancing And this Stay at home. Order is having the desired effect of bending the curve begins to help us determine that and and then we will you know as the days go on as we have all along. We'll keep you informed. We'll tell you what we're thinking And and ultimately you know if we need to we'll make decision as we approach that date I just Want to add that I'm very very grateful once again. I want everybody here to know how hard our staffs the the Mayor Staff Chairman Staff The Illinois Municipal League and all the members. The mayor's people are working very long hours to make sure that they're get this right that that we have the right information and that we do. What's right for the people we represent and so I just want to express my gratitude because this is I think one of the hardest periods of time that anybody who works in state government has gone through and and you should be proud of the public servants Who serve you every day? So thank you very much and you just heard Governor Jay pritzker addressed to Illinois where he is announcing a statewide. Stay at home or it's GonNa Start Five. Pm Tomorrow March. Twenty first through April seventh. But you know if you have been living your life Kind of staying at home now and abiding by the recommendations not much is going to change. Grocery stores are still open there warning people. Don't go hold groceries. They'll be fully supplied. Pharmacy's still open gas stations. You can still go run walk hike. Walk your dog. Although city parks and libraries will be closed starting tomorrow at five. Pm Brandis what. What did you take away from? You know we heard. We had an epidemiologist from U. OF C. Kind of talking about why. This is happening for folks that might not understand. Why such drastic measures right and she was very poetic and her expression of why we need to do this. You know as the lead Epidemiologist University of Chicago Medicine. She expressed that if all of us can stay home with whatever we might be carrying around or not. Then we're not out getting sick and we're especially for those of us who are young and relatively healthy Because the folks who are a little bit older the folks who have underlying health conditions? Those folks can get sick and they are going to the hospital beds and while typically the hospitals can treat folks who are sick coming and going everybody's sick at the same time hospitals can't handle that We also heard from the State Illinois Public Health Departments Executive Director in Gazi Ezekiel. Who said that the state is working on looking at hospitals? That have been closed Because we know in China they had to establish a lot of hospitals or sort of hospital situations on the quick and here. We're looking at whether or not some of those places that can be trying to bribe me. You make another run here at through here but good. Oh you're one of the hard nose law man and you'll find out soon enough Mr will. I know I've got an idea that I can persuade you yet. Marshall coke a b. a Mr Dylan out. What is it chester? I only wanted to say that I heard you got shot at tonight so. I'm sorry it happened. That's all I don't envy. A man has to be a martial dangerous. Besides that usually don't pay good. And what do you think I ought to do about it? They necessarily Marshall. If you're smart you'll stay right here and make good money and be real safe to boot. I didn't know for sure it was. You caught it but now I know what are you talking about as a stage leaving dodge about sunup. You're going to be on it. I'm opening a new game across the street tomorrow. Take Care Gun according. Oh wait a minute Marshall. You can't do that. I think I can. The whole thing including the cold started on the evening of November seventh. I was walking down Broadway on my way to Baker's cafeteria with Charlie Lester. He's in one of my physics classes and we were both feeling pretty lightheaded. I've had tough exams in my day but that was up. You've got a cold snow. No I haven't got a cold is just water. My nose runs an I sneeze because I am essentially masochist. Actually it is psychosomatic. I hate my mother and my father. Of course I've got a cold. What do you think branch look? Watch out what Franck. Who What. Thanks friend if you hadn't worn me I'd hey where are you? Who said that to me? Where are you? Can you still hear me? Well sure I can hear anybody here. Where are you? Kranish is that the referred refraction index creature of incensio. This I don't know did I pick the right one. What you're you're invisible. That's it that's it. I know the concept was somewhere in your. What are you a Valedictorian Derek? A valid a what I would you mind opening your lyrics a little wider. Please you see I am using your sub vocalisations to communicate now breeze deeply. That's better let's see now. I am the spirit of Christmas past the creature from the black lagoon bride of Franken hold on. What are you trying to tell me that you're a ghost or a creature from another planet? Same thing obviously how. Well that makes it. All perfectly clear fool can see that. A disembodied voice must belong to someone from another planet. Exactly I'm invisible on earth but my superior senses spotted approaching danger and warns you oven. Well thanks thanks anyway about that. Well what are you one of those strange voices that warns aunt Minnie to stay out of the elevator which then crashes to the basement? Something like that well goodbye. What's the matter? Well not a thing except that I seem to be standing in the middle of one hundred and Fourteenth Street talking to an invisible alien from the farthest reaches of Outer Space. I suppose only I can hear you. Well naturally great when you know where this sort of thing will land me. The concept you are sub. Vocalizing is not entirely clear. Not Look please go back to one of my childhood. Traumas where you came from and let me alone Thanks for the warning about the truck. Good night where are you going? I am going to a saloon down. Sometimes I can get across a warning just before a dangerous moment but then the connection we you mean that is the explanation of premonitions of danger right conditions might not be right for this kind of contact for another hundred years look. This is very interesting stuff for Professor Ryan at North Carolina. Not For the Physics Department at Columbia. I have heard statistics about the overcrowding of mental hospitals and I am not interested in contributing to that condition. Besides cop looking at me. I appreciate your social situation but this contact with me is in your own best interest. I want to protect you from the myriad dangers of human existence yet lost well. Your of course it'll be in the newspapers. I should imagine so and you know all sorts of stuff like that. I can perceive all the dangers that radiate toward you an extended time. My one desire was to protect you from them. Oh well look when you wait till tomorrow evening. Those two girls are giggling. Now you will let me be your protector. I'll tell you tomorrow after I read the late papers. The item was there all right. I read it in my furnished room at one hundred and Thirteenth Street man which by the crowd lost his balance fell in front of an oncoming train. This gave me a lot to think about while I waited for my invisible protected show up by the time he contacted me. I didn't know that I liked the whole idea. Don't you trust me? I just want to lead a normal life if you lead any life at. Aw that truck last night. That was a freak a once in a Lifetime Hazard. It only takes once in a lifetime die. There was the subway to work doesn't count. I hadn't planned on Writing Today. That you had no reason not derided. That's the important thing just as you have no reason not to take a shower in the next hour. Why should I miss? Flynn who lives down? The hall is now taking her shower. And we'll leave a melting bar of pink soap on the pink tile of the bathroom floor. You would have slipped on. Suffered a sprained wrist not fatal no hardly in the same class with the let us say a heavy flowerpot pushed from a rooftop by a certain unstable old gentleman When is that going to happen? I thought you weren't interested. I am very interested when where were you. Let me continue to protect you. We're not just tell me one thing what's in this for you. Satisfaction for a Valedictorian. Derg the greatest throw possible is to help another creature evade danger. Isn't there something else you want out of this some trifle like my soul or rulership of the earth. Nothing to accept payment for protection ruin the emotional experience. All I want out of life all any. Derg wants is to protect someone from the dangers. He cannot see but which we can see all too. Well we don't even expect Grafton What about the flowerpot. It'll be dropped at the corner of Tenth Street McAdams Boulevard at ten thirty tomorrow morning Tense and McAdams. Where's that in Jersey City when I've never been to Jersey City in my life? Why warned me about that? I don't know where you will or won't go. I'm merely perceived dangerous to your wherever they may occur. What should I do now? Anything you wish just lead your normal life. Sure is a different kind of protection. What would you do if an alien offer you protection against anything that would do your harm? Well that's what you're going to hear about an episode Beck's minus one March Twentieth Nineteen fifty seven protection. It started out well enough. I attended classes at Columbia. Did Homework saw movies. Went on dates played table tennis and chess all his before. At no time did I let on that? I was under the protection of Valedictorian Derg. Even Charley didn't notice it though he had a pretty good. Excuse boy you lucky. I got stuck in that elevator for four hours. So how come you walked. I never saw you volunteered. Walk five flights before well a little bird told me boy I wish I. I wish I had a little bird like that. Why don't you do something that cold? Why should I ever done for me? Not even the Derg had warned me about Charlie's bad jokes in time but he did his best and once or twice a day he'd come around and report loose grading on West End Avenue between sixty six and sixty seven streets. Go Walk on it. Of course I would once I got used to it. It gave me quite a feeling of security but the Derg soon became overzealous on my behalf. He began finding more and more dangerous. Look for an overhanging sign on the Hotel Nash. Now where Forty Eighth Street Mexico City? Don't go to the hockey game tonight. Where Toronto Street Bus Philadelphia Omaha? Don't go Surf Riding Today. Surf riding where not. Just wait a minute. Do you plan on reporting every potential danger on earth. Oh these are only a few only a very few that you may be affected by in Mexico City and Kapiti. Why not confine yourself to the local picture greater New York? Let's say low cow means nothing to me? I must protect you from everything while it was rather touching in a way and there was nothing I could do about it. I simply had to discard from his reports. The various dangers in places like hoboken Thailand Kansas City Anger Vat Sarasota and Paris. I concentrated pretty much on Manhattan. He did save me from pretty nasty. Hold up on Cathedral Parkway and the four alarm fire but he kept stepping up the pace tainted food and bakers cafeteria. Don't eat there tonight. Amsterdam bus three twelve has bad brakes. Don't ride it. Melons tailor. Shop has a leaking gas line explosion to have your clothes dry cleaned elsewhere. Rabid Mongrel. I'm proud between Riverside drive in central Park West. Take a taxi soon. I was spending most of my time. Not doing things and avoiding places. Danger seemed to be lurking behind every lamppost waiting for me. I rather suspected the Derg of padding his report all my reports are perfectly genuine. If you don't believe me. Try Turning on your lights in the psychology class tomorrow. Why defective wiring look? I don't doubt your warnings. I just don't think life was this dangerous before you came along. Well of course it wasn't surely you know that if you accept protection. You must accept the drawbacks of protection as well drawbacks like what protection begets the need of further protection. That is a universal constant. Before you met me you were like everyone else in your ran into such risks situation offered but with my coming your immediate environment has changed and your position in it has changed to why because it has me and it. It is well known that the avoidance of one danger opens the past to others. Are you trying to tell me that? My risks have increased. Because of your help. It was unavoidable. I you miserable extra terrestrial conman now all right all right. Thanks for everything. I'll see you want Mars or wherever you hang out. You don't want any further protection you guessed it. Don't slam the door on your way out what's wrong. Your risks have increased but my capacity for detection is more than ample to cope with it. I'm happy to cope with it. So it still represents a net gain in protection for you know what happens next my risks. Just keep on increasing. Don't at all. As far as accidents are concerned. You have reached the quantitative limit. What does that mean? It means that there will be no further increase in the number of accidents. You must avoid. Look if you leave me alone. My original environment will return it and with it. My original risks. Eventually if you survive fine I'll take that chance. You cannot afford to send me away tomorrow. Not Don't tell me I'll avoid the accidents on my own. I wasn't thinking of accidents. What then I. I hardly know how to tell you. A- gamper is after you owe again a lot now. What kind of a gag is this? Gamper is a creature from my environment. I suppose he was attracted by your increased potentialities for avoiding risk due to my protection. I look you can take your gamper. If he comes. Tried driving him off with mistletoe. Iron is often effective. If bonded to cop out here are you sure? Need it blow? Scrammed GET OUT. Go on all right all right. Bye-bye gone really gone. Good riddance what. What's that Derek is that you are. You're motors running. Dirk what is what is that. What is that? What's the gap? Get me out of this. Get me out come back. Did you call wave it at the gambling at blazes? Am I gonNA GET MISSILE TALL IRON COPPER COPPER COMMERCE? My Dad's checking you say in my protection. The gap almost got you. Yes yes sure did. You'll need some things Wolf Bain Amaranth garlic. Graveyard Molin is gone. Yeah yes however the grails remain and you'll need safeguard against the leaps leagues in the Melgar. Either I'll give you a list. He gave me a list and I went shopping. I ran into Charlie at the supermarket. We'll feign amaranth garlic garlic. They must have they got over here. I guess you know what I came in for tissues. What else let me see graveyard mold graveyard mold. You think they'd have it here. What's the matter with you look? Why does it goes? Why does it gamper or Griller or leap? Or what does that Jive Talk Lease Pleased Charlie? Don't bother me I'm busy right. Who has the nearest graveyard? That would be moldy this time of year. It was a game between these extraterrestrials and I was in it. Some of them wanted to kill me some to protect me. None of them cared for me. Not even the Dirk and the situation was all my fault. At the beginning I N had the accumulated wisdom of the human race at my disposal that tremendous and distinctive hatred of witches and ghosts. The irrational fear of alien life for my adventure has been played out a thousand times and the story is told again and again allemand dabbles in strange arts and summons spirit by so doing. He attracts attention to himself. The worst thing of all so I was welded inseparably to the Derg and the dirt to me until yesterday that is Charlie came to my room. Visit how you been see you in class for a while? If I hang up my CONAN. Oh no no no no. Don't don't open the closet door. What's the matter what's in there? Nothing only? That's the only way to hold off the figues by keeping closet doors closed. The leaps are more menacing but the eye of a toad seems to stop them and the Melgar iser is dangerous.
