"The show instead a breaking news episode of the podcast day and three of our heavy hitters to weigh in and give us that comments on the news today. We'll be joined by jonathan noble luke smith and checkbook so leg talking about the announcements. But we all knew it was coming. But you never really know until it's a done deal. And that is that valerie bots will join the alfred formula one. Same twenty twenty two at the start of what. The swiss outfit says is a multi year deal with the fans. Departure from mercedes has been expected for some weeks now. A return to williams was on the counts before it became clear that his destination was indeed. Alpha may kimmy reichen ends retirements announcement. Last wednesday was the first in a series of pieces of the drive market puzzle to fall into place confirmation from mercedes. George russell will be joining the well. Championship team hasn't officially happened at the time of recording. But surely that's happening in due course maybe today or later in the week or both ask will be reunited at alfa romeo with the team principal. Fred visa now. He worked with him but iot and at three back in two thousand nine and ten g. p. three and twenty eleven. That's when he won the championship and despite the strong contribution of batas over the years the prospect of promoting russell from williams ultimately proved irresistible for mercedes and the team boss. Toto wolff with the austrian was involved in balsas acids management for a long time before conflicts of interest. Obliged him to step back but wolf has long stressed that he wanted to ensure that his former protege found new seat. Should russell be given the nod for the mercedes drive and said after boss assis move to alfred was confirmed that he would absolutely have deserved to stay in. Twenty twenty two. Let's hit from john luke and festival. Jbl on the podcast debate joining me to talk about the big news across the great artists ephron reports league smith and most sport dot com ephron editor. John mobile gents. What do we think about the moves that just happened. I kind of makes me think of the pretends to be shocked. Gift costa ronald asian media. Because the thing that's kind of everyone's reaction that way. It was for so many weeks. I think it's been pretty clear what's going to happen over the zandvoort weekend. Joe dresser revealed that he'd been told practice. Bob what he would be doing. Obviously both he and value both asked have been quite klay with our answers. They both kept saying that there was not an use to shabbir. That didn't mean that hadn't been decision types of wolf. He said that he had taken decision. But it wasn't the right time so announce it so it's been pretty clear which way the wind has been blowing by. Get it finally out in the open. Put an end. So i think the big drama of city season and i think Yeah pave the way for a new shop so both full volleyball tasse out for may and really exciting options. If george russell finally with that mercedes team thinking the a decision that makes sense for all camps really. George russell come and send his contract williams. It was clear he needed to do something. Different be somewhat different being a different competitive environment. If if his career was going to progress voice it just becomes a williams driver a such a thing that kind of forced the decision on mercedes vouchers had his had his time at mercedes is giving his all just hasn't clicked not necessarily all three his own fault. I think touchable said recently. That bad luck seems to be stapled to voucher potus steering wheel because he's had a lot of misfortune and like along the way but his wins pole positions his contribution to the team on the of confront of evolving there and i think titus comment about veltri deserving to stay. There would have been correct if there wasn't george russell sitting there needing to be placed in moved somewhere so An alfred says squad car goodell fit for veltri become a team leader. He gets his multi renews. Punish with fred vesa With twenty twenty two rules. who needs. Who's going to be who knows who's going to be quick. He's gonna be slow next year. Maybe some of these midfield teams gonna make a big jump and push towards the front. We will get shocked. Podiums in twenty twenty two so i think a satisfactory outcome everybody williams. Who's in for for both houses while app. He has taken that route to go down for mayor. Have off the most ideal. What was the thinking behind that particular. Move on his part because it's quite baker kifah out for isn't it is a great me for alpha mad Nothing fred adversaries. Being quite clear for while veltri was at the top of his list he knew is capable of when they worked together from the three in. Gp three He's now he's now a race winner in formula one. He's now understands. What a championship. Winning team how it operates what it does what the mindset is will the staffing levels alike the facilities alike and that can be invaluable for a team alpha mayor especially in this cost copyright where you're having to choose what your resources go Solving is very very good for him. I think with alfred mayor he. He gets a chance to completely new environment. There's no longer any kind of element or cessation. We've williams is not going backwards in his career. He's not coming back to where he started out in formula. One a clean break on a thing. We've not seen the full. Potential of alfred meyer. This year. that bad season last year we seen some good qualified illnesses and gm nazi especially in zandvoort lost. We can but this is a team that hasn't developed by car at all When i spoke to fred vassar recently. He was pretty clear. We are the of the past the only team that has not developed the car. One bit so in theory they should have fallen down the order Be stuck at the back but at delivering occasionally the surprise performances so with this extra resource to twenty two could they spring a surprise. It's a good environment full boss. I think that jon. He's in really good spot now..

"We're back on the faculty. Podcast is dave walker with gina. Kelly and our guest michael rothstein of a rake i. This is part of the editing process. He's he's like pulling the curtain away and showing everyone the magic. I feel so i feel so violated. Just the wizard of oz you know we are talking with michael rosty. Espn who has graciously come back on. And which again. Thank you michael of the parents away. Well i started off by making you. Michael matt online roth suits so we'll we'll just call it even at this point so we taught a unintentionally. We talked a lot about the offense in the first half so actually wanted to shift gears. Because i think what falcons spans From what we're seeing at least at the site on twitter what they've really been sorta surprised by is the defense because you know. The falcons have historically been known for having a painfully bad defenses. And they've brought in a coordinator who has an impressively long history in the nfl of coordinating some great defenses and dean pees. They've got you know some promising players you've got obviously the standouts like grady jarrett and dion jones. But you've also got these guys like h rail. You've got some rookies like eddie yoga indentity. That is beginning to stand out. What's your take on the defense in camp. Are you a little bit surprised by what you've been seeing. Where do you think that you know dean pees. This is what you expected from a guy like this. That has this resume. I mean. I'm surprised with what i've seen defensively again. I'm new so i'm going mostly on what i read what i saw last year when i watched some stuff and what i was led to believe in the via the the names and who they have but dmp's has been doing this a very long time gp's has been doing. Defend coordinating defenses. Are being defensive coach at college or the nfl literally. since before. arthur smith was born. little league. smith was born since before i was born. Actually so that's just. That's a long time very middle aged and i'm not surprised at what. Db's doing these days is doing. What does which is be aggressive. You know love blitzing with nickel and dime and an from everywhere. We've seen that in preseason games. Which by the way if you're doing that a preseason game which is a very vanilla ish time You're ace sending a message. Be like he's gonna have some really exotic type things here. I think once the season starts if he's just like a quarter blitz randomly. Here you know. I was at either during a professor. I think it was maybe during a game. And just like where's or brits okay like i mean that was surprising so i think the thing that surprised me the most was that i think secondaries going to be all right and people are talking about pass rush this ensure by wake me when when that happens in a real game You know i i. When i think dante explosive i think dante fowler. There's there's real potential airframe now breakout break out again. I guess we'll call it because he had one already ramp but really get to that type of again. I think that there's a possibility there. Because i think that the pressure that we're talking about from corners and safeties nichols and more linebackers is maybe gonna force teams to not focus so much on dante. Fowler could also go extent degrading jared tube and maybe they get more single coverage. Because they're worried about you know on three A corner blitz comment or something like that and then maybe that lead single coverage or leads to a delay which may be gives donald fowler. A greater jerick. Just will sliver room that they need so that i think will help. But i've been impressed with how they cut me listen. Aj terrell. i think it's legit. I think i've been leading that like writing about every day I hate calling hike trae. Because that's not what i'm trying to do literally writing what i see but i'm definitely you know every day for the most part maybe not the last couple but mainly that right you know in my teens type stuff was see what that looks like tomorrow and thursday but almost every day i feel like he's making play whether pig whether it's a a couple really impressive. Pb or just blanketing coverage or shutting down calvin ridley or one on want where every day. You're seeing something out of aj. Terrell that's like that's like he. He has the potential now. Let's see what it looks like. He's going up against you know a will. Just go to frankly. And either chris gardner mike evans right. He's either got my bs. Toughest tests all years for his complete receiving quotes goten Based off of who they play. I forgetting somebody. I mean that. That's if it's not there. His heart their heart is match up. It's like number two right. So i'm very curious to see what it looks like then by. I've been really impressed. With what i've seen and i think that he's he's still going to be growing. They're still going to be some mistakes by. I think their trajectory he's on is really impressive. Drawn harmon and eric harris. The question today with both of those guys wasn't they play but you know how their body to hold up with what their speed is like. So far i think pimple pretty good. They're just veteran dependable. Safeties as long as it's not a physical thing they're not gonna let guys get behind him all that much they know what they're doing fabian. Monroe's been fine as the second quarter. You're not hearing a lot about him. Which you know some people are like. Oh my god if no again quarterback like there's one or two things why they wanna be tyrrell's do it or you want to be heard about non because i mean they were just kind of they're not making big mistakes. Fabien moreau to me. Lordly has had a camp where he hasn't made a ton of mistakes and he's literally been with the first team since day. one really since the spraying. there's no reason to think he's not going to be the starter opposite. Terrell this point is oliver has shown some real flashes of being able to handle the nickel. Which i think is a good sign for him. I think it's a spot where he can really use that athleticism and like i said. I think there's potential there now like everything else. Death is a question You know richie grant has a lot of potential. but he's young You have to have a little bit concerned there if you had to put him in too big of a role too early but i imagine. Db's will find a package for him or two packages for him to get him on the field and and make sure they're doing that. But it was clear from negra drafted. Richie grant that. That was going to be the the plan with him because they had to veteran safeties really three and jalen hawkins pointed nobody had and jalen hogan's i- jalen hawkins has had as good of a campus any defensive player. He's been very very active. He's been very very all over the place. It's been some boomer bust. But he's settled into that number three safety role and i think when you're looking at it long term big picture. You're you might have your to starting safeties in two thousand twenty two on the roster already in jalen hawkins and richie grant how much they play together. How much they play it all might dictate be dictated by what happens to season by. If i'm the falcons. I feel good about what i've got depth Defensive line jeff at inside linebacker even though they got good performances at adoring three general thompson. And i think one of those guys will make i.

"Not spike. We'll go ahead and that something like if you don't mind i know we're out of time but this is also something else that added that when we are taking in projects one of the things we've tried to ask is. How big of a risk is this. Is this something that oh you just need to have that. You don't really gonna make a decision on all the team's going to move forward any way versus like we think we're going to invest a lot of money in this but we really not sure those are two different very different risk levels and Really add value is lists for the low risk that really full of high risks. The we can collect Information and bring that risk level at least a little bit down. That makes a lot of sense and i think that's a great way to wrap up the conversation which i hope people will take the newest single conversation and use it to really influence them to learn more about. What's more about so many things. Thank you so much thank you. "Momentarily. There were two separate acts in the play first on more results in two shots. The second act during the ball is a flagrant penalty to result in the injection and two more shots. However, we will see four to make three score three points in this place there, Baldy side out with 24. So Marcus Morris Sr has been outstanding in this. Siri's stays on the first to get to, but he makes 22 makes 14 makes three essentially here, But the big story is Marcus Mora Sr. Rejected with a flagrant foul team file there to roll out flavoring is unnecessary contact. Flagrant two is unnecessary and excessive. You saw yesterday you and Sean Kelly had a big injection in the third quarter. J. Tucker and that was a flagrant, too, and a technical foul Deadball technical fouls. On PJ PJ Tucker for the called It The Bobo, Brazil soft head, But some of our listeners got the reference that well, yesterday we had arrested reference today we were with the combination of boxing. So Luca is going to shoot forth free throws to make three first is good. We're watching Marcus Morris senior head off towards the flippers locker room. Aryan second free throw is good. Luca has been struggling in the play offs from the free throw line talking, somebody shot it's 76%. In the regular season is at 68 in the playoffs and again, it's hard to criticize this fantastic player, but he's got such a good shooter missed that when they get the last one, he's got to get his free throw up in the mid eighties. You would think you'd be in 85% free and close to a 40% 3 point shooter Right now he doesn't do either of those missed the last two of the four attempts, so the game is tied. 27 27 Marcus Morris senior ejected On a flagrant two and now possession to Dallas with a minute seven to go in first. And look for this game to be called very, very tightly for the next 5 to 7 minutes for the referees to establish and maintain control of the game. Remember no path. Beverly was out again with a calf injury. No, Marcus more senior the rest of the way. Dallas looking for the league Smith to the dotted like jumper, Good. First lead of Game six of the Mavericks here with a minute to go in the first a long time ago when it crossed half court. But that was a pretty good trip for the Dallas Mavericks with a bunch of points out of that one hears Lou Williams getting the contact floater. No, we'll go to the free throw line with 51 9 10 seconds to go here in the first quarter. If you blow on a player for the next couple minutes, it's going to be a foul. No question about that. Both teams were chirping allowed. We bragged about the crew. What is strong, cruel wass. Go team just got off on the wrong foot didn't like calls, And there was a lot of chirping. And then when you had Marcus, more senior and dodge renew acquaintances, that means the game's going to be called very, very tight again. Siri's. There's been 14 13 Technicals, too Technical Rick Carlisle Rejection also too many texts to the flag of free throws ties the game at 29. Clippers and Mavericks Game six leading three games to 2 43 seconds left in the first teach on the NBA's logo. My letter gives you about 5 ft. Now he walks up to the three point line is open. Look up for three splashes at home underneath. Just wait. They weren't doubling was waiting for him, Lucas said. Why would I go and get you shot Lou Williams going and missed the last point blank checks the rebound. Dallas up 3 24 seconds to go in the first, about five seconds. Difference on the shot clock. They can wind it down, but we think there's a double to dodge again. It gets rid of it. Smith left Corner outside the arc inside. Marjanovic pivots and flushes. Dallas with 30 for in the first quarter, five point lead 10 seconds to go stop here for Dallas. Carrie defending Reggie Jackson with four seconds took Kawai catching Shoot, missed it off the front. That's the end of the first quarter, and the Dallas Mavericks have a 30 for 29 lead despite being down seven early, exactly what I was going to say, excellent job getting back in the game Clippers are really upset. Barking at the officials again right now and again. Marcus Morris was off to a great start and Marcus Morris other than Kawai is their best defensive matchup. Luca Dodge Marcus Morris with nine points and now ejected from the game.

"Are pretty much doing the same thing service designers. What they might find is they might start to running to kind of. Problems that are outside of their immediate scalpels or knowledge of how to solve them of the might go to a service agency to provide special services but I would argue that they're very, very similar. A lot of people in work in the services space will regularly design phone call waiting systems. You know there's annoying things where you you press on, you have to say after the beep what you're looking forward Tetris CETERA that's a service public most of them are really frustrating and I would argue most of them are really frustrating because actually the people that designed them. Aren't coming from board enough background. I saw I'd love to see more services. Iron is poured into those these types of projects. But yes, I'm. Similarity, there's not. Having, worked with call centers I'd say that. Very often they're the software there is designed to solve the the people running the call centers not the customers. Absolutely. Absolutely. Efficiency, and this is one of the problems I mean. One of the frustrations that I have and one of the things that services trying to solve is. Trying to organizations fixating on a local. Of. KPI, that Ashley Wade he gets in the way of solving the problem. So for instance, to give you example, a lot of course enters. War have. A timer for how quickly you meant to serve clients, and so obviously, what happens is in order to hit your targets, you try and get clients off the line as quickly as possible. So you get them off the line before they've had the problem solved. That means they will phone back three, four, five times tying up three, four, five times as many people as I need to getting more more frustration eventually going and talking crap about the brand on twitter because they've been unable to solve the problem because those customer experience directors have been told to get the call waiting times down and that's the only KPI that they focus on you look a brand like Zap. Giants who lost that game last night. So they are O and one in 2020 So far, Mike it's trips. He's gonna hit leadoff for the second straight game, and he'll also play center field for the second game in a row. So I think it is very likely that you Stransky is going to play almost every day for the James and he's gonna get a lot of starts out there. In Centre at least for the time being hitting leadoff for the Giants. Thiss evening. Wilmer Flores, the third baseman, bat second Pablo Side of all over first base again switch hitter hitting third. Alex Dickerson tonight is the D H Remember, of course. And I'm sure you know this. But this year National League American League interleague Every game will feature a designated hitter for the first time in the history of baseball. The D. H is universal this season. And the Giants had 100 pence is D H last night tonight It's Dickerson hitting cleanup. Joe McCarthy gets another start in left field. Bad fifth. Mauricio du Bon at second base, hitting sixth. Brandon Crawford, the shortstop at seventh. Jalen Davis, right fielder hits eight. And starting catcher for the Giants is the left handed hitting Rob Brantly Heat. That's nine. This would be his Giants debut. Tyler Heidemann, caught on opening night last night for the Giants Giants starting pitcher Also making his debut in the Orange and Black Tyler Anderson. Anderson, who had a nice young career, going with Colorado Rockies a couple years ago, had a very good year looked like one of their building blocks and just could not stay healthy. His knee was hurt, especially Last year was kind of a lost year. For Tyler Anderson. He is healthy again, building up his strength and stamina and velocity. We'll see how long he goes in this game tonight, but he'll make a start in his Giants debut study Game two of his Syriza left hander longed for the James. Meanwhile, the Dodgers who won that opening night, game 8 to 1 yesterday. Their new superstar Mookie Betts, tonight moves into the lead off spot in the order and starch in right field. It is beautiful down in L. A. The sun is setting behind it. Big gift aside of Dodger Stadium, so right field Is lit up in the evening sunshine. You could see the San Gabriel Mountains in clear view. So it looks like a beautiful day and there looks to be a little more wind. Then there was last night with flags or sort of whipping around a little bit, please gently. Blowing out behind center field. See if that impact play tonight as well. We're relying on our observational skills to pick up on some of these things. Because, of course we're not there. We're here in San Francisco. And the Giants and the Dodgers getting ready to start Game two of this series the umpires for the game tonight and it is part of the story of the game. Edwin Moscow So the home plate umpire, This is major league debut behind the plate. First time he's ever call balls and strikes in a real big league game. Here's the wind up, not by stripping the right hand delivers on a fastball in there for a called strike. The ball is up about the bell just a little bit. And Stransky, who has been disciplining himself to lay off those high pitch is sort of his Achilles heel in the past now, stripling wines the right hander delivers. Very high. Again pitch swung on fouled back to nearly the same spot on the screen behind the plate in it's nothing to. Got no score here in the top of the second man on nobody out for castio who's sitting three twenty nine with a couple of home runs. Josh myth works out of the stretch. And so that shuffled the roster of Lehigh valley. They had had Nick Williams down here. And in the big leagues all of last season. And going back to the two thousand seventeen season as well. So the Phillies recalled him from here in Lehigh, valley yesterday, the ones up high ball antenna throws back to burst and weldings back to the base to one account.
