Fresh update on "leafs" discussed on The Instigators with Andrew Peters and Craig Rivet

"Just one coming off the heels of the leaf lost Now This is not gloating. Although I did glowed in a group chat last night with a Much of Canadian guys who loved the Leafs. So, um, that being I'll read that conversation. If you'd like. He was actually pretty was very entertaining. Um Cris Johnson. SportsNet He basically helped us. Get to this buy, sell trade. He mentions, you know, there's there's a video at the top of it. David Amber and I caught last night. David Amber, Elliot Freeman and Brian Burke spoke about the May believe playoff exit at the hands of the Blue Jackets. And what the team needs to change going forward, and the headline is perfect. Why seismic changes needed for Maple Leafs after predictable loss Well. They just changed the coach. So I I don't believe Shanahan's going anywhere. Which leads us to the buy, sell trade. Big changes are coming in Toronto following the playoff loss, and I mentioned earlier river and I want to give you some air time here. But I mentioned earlier What Ellie Brian Burke. We're discussing. Was the salary cap figure for martyr Matthews to various and knee lander, four leaf forwards. At an estimated I think about 40 million To a Columbus 12 man forward roster of about the same amount of money. And Brian Burke spoke, he said, is the former general manager, successful one. And he said. It did not allow them to spend money in areas that they needed their weak on defense goaltending suspect I'm paraphrasing here. He may not have said that, but basically saying You know, there wasn't a left. It wasn't enough left over and now you have possibly a hard cap for three years, maybe four at 81.5 million. You're in a tough spot in Toronto. Yes. I'm gonna sell this flat out. I don't think that there's going to be big changes in Toronto. I don't think there needs to be big changes in Toronto. I think they've got you know, great president in Shanahan and do best is a young G m, but I think he's done a really nice job. To be honest with you, Um They have a star studded talented group Mitch Murder Matthews, John Tiberius will kneel and er this is a group of hockey players that are going to be great for years to come. Do I think that they.

COVID-19 relief bill negotiations fall apart as lawmakers remain divided

"Congressional leaders, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi met with the trump administration today for what we think was an eleventh round of face-to-face negotiations on another covid relief package for Americans who are out of work or otherwise up against it in the seventh full blown month of this pandemic Democrats offered to knock about a trillion dollars off of their relief bill, which should otherwise been pegged at three point four, trillion, the White House apparently said no to that offer. Many. The deadlines to replenish or extend the relief programs that Congress has passed in the past. Those have already come and gone deadline to continue paying the extra six hundred bucks and unemployment benefits that tens of millions of Americans have been relying on since they've been out of work that deadline came and went July thirty first. The deadline to extend the ban on people across the country that passed on July twenty fourth now as many as twelve million people or risk of losing their homes if they don't get help. Technically the paycheck protection program the Federal Loan Program to try to keep small businesses afloat. Technically, that program is still alive that program doesn't expire until tomorrow, but it does matter tomorrow. With all these federal leaf relief programs either collapsing on the verge of collapsing the trump administration is saying no to the Democrats compromise offer they've been making vague noises about the president trying to do some of these things by executive order the president talked about that tonight at his golf club in Bedminster but then quickly pivoted to spending the next half an hour remarks basically holding a very small campaign rally. Left unsaid at all was how he intends to muster the authority to try to do any of this single handedly since it's congress, not the president. That holds the power of the purse tick tock though in terms of how much Americans need relief right now, there's no end to this pandemic insight. The reason these things are expiring is because when they initially past people thought this would be over by now. It's nowhere near over Americans are suffering just as much as they were when these things were passed in the first place. How's this going to resolve? Joining us now is the Great James Clyburn South Carolina Congressman Chair of the House Select Committee Oversees Virus Relief Funds Congressman Clyburn. It's really nice to see you here. Tonight it's been too long since you've been here on the show I really appreciate you making time to be here. Thank you very much. Can you just give us your overview perspective on what you think is going to happen whether you think that these programs that so many Americans have been counting on will get extended what kind of lapse that will be looking at between those programs initially expiring and them getting re upped when ultimately some deal hopefully, it's worked out. I think we. WORKED OUT WE'LL be the tremendous amid of the week. Weekend. We will have. Some politicians tomorrow I think we're getting close to something happening. That will be beneficial to everybody. When the president talks about doing some of these things by executive order, I feel like I'm going back to my school house rock it's just I'm just a bill kind of basics about how the different branches of government work I mean the one thing the president doesn't have is the power of the purse when he says that he can do some of these things just by signing. An executive order when we're talking about, you know sending money to people weren't talking about an unemployment benefits boost when we're talking about changes around taxes that he's talking about, it doesn't seem to me that he has the power to do any of that as as president. But yet, the White House seems to think that that's a that's another way to get at the relief that's needed. The purchasing is saying that there is no congress, the acid deal with no people the he has to listen to He says these things up think as always throwing something up on the wall to see if it was. I think he knows better than this. The general owners that he issues have gone to court time and time again and they've been thrown back into his face as appointed time. I think he's get the message from the Courts as well. But keep working and we'll come to some agreement I. Wish that Mr McConnell or in the room so that we can get the legislative bodies together but he seems to have. Turned over to the White House, but we'll get something. You you sound confidence and that. Is booming to me because I feel like you're pretty clear eyed observer about what is capable what what Capitol Hill is capable of doing just ask what you would say to Americans right now who are really scared about not just the health aspects of this but the economic aspects of this I mean so many people that I know just in my personal life with their small business owners or whether they are employees of public or private entities. people are worried about whether or not the the economic. Blow that's been dealt to individual families into our country. Right now is something that we're going to recover from in the long run. How do you? How do you see that and? How do you think the government has done in terms of trying to fix some of these these wounds? People are worried and. Something, I'm worried. He got a really a pandemic, but then a pandemic here. When you really look at it they got a big healthcare crisis. They got an economic crisis, and as we focused on trying to do something about the economic crisis, the fact of the matter which are not yet it saw without solving this healthcare crisis. So it's a double whammy here. We have to try to operate knowing full well that you cannot operate within the silo here

Debate over mail-in voting heats up

"Another issue that is rising to the surface. The debate over mail in voting and the president critical of states like Nevada but very supportive of states like Florida and Arizona, which, by the way have Republican governors versus a Democratic governor. That's right Now, Trump has tried to draw a distinction between male voting and absentee voting, and there actually is a difference, according to election efforts in a state like Nevada, they are actually sending a ballad to every voter. It's different in Ah, in a state like Florida or a lot of other states, Republican and Democrat run election administrations where they're not sending every voter of ballot, But they're sending every registered voter an application for a ballot. So an absentee ballot is considered something that you have to ask. For now. A lot of states are Doing this for the first time sending absentee ballot applications to everyone removing the need for an excuse for an absentee ballot right in my state, Virginia and a lot of others in the past, you've had to. Ah, Ah sign affidavit that says, I have to vote absentee because I won't. I won't be here. I'm disabled or there's some reason that I cannot vote in person. States, including Virginia are removing that requirement. Removing things like, you know, notarization and witnessing requirements. To make it easier for people to vote from home. But still shop stopping short of sending everybody has ballot, which some conservative voting experts say that just leaves all these ballots lying around that people may not have wanted and opens the door sees an opportunity for fraud toe happen, and there have been a couple of isolated cases of that. Nevertheless, in almost every way and certainly when it comes to ballot security, the experts said. There really isn't a difference between vote by mail and absentee voting and the distinction that the president's trying to drive mostly based on where his friends are right which states he thinks he thinks you're likely to vote for him in which are likely. To vote against him and again, in spite of his attempts to turn this into a red blue divide. You really do have states of both political leanings across the country dramatically ramping up people's ability to vote from home ability to vote remotely. Not all. There's still some some outliers, and and so that's what a lot of election officials Experts to worry that that there's a lot of room for bad things to happen on. And like everything else that Corona viruses sort of exposed. This is a system that already had a lot of problems right. If the pandemic hadn't happened, you could imagine that you and I would be sitting here talking about foreign election interference allegations of voter fraud. All of these issues surrounding our election infrastructure there were already very serious and then the pandemic comes along and simultaneously exacerbates those issues. But also forces forces action. So we've seen this wholesale transformation in a lot of places of the ways that people are going to vote in in ways that could potentially because ah lot of confusion and a lot of delays. Once the once election rolls around, and one followed to that point, and you write about it in your time magazine piece is the president essentially trying to sow the seeds of doubt regarding the outcome of this election in November. That is the concern of a lot of experts again of both political persuasions that you and this is a drumbeat that Trump has has been ah, keeping up since since before the 2016 election and Ah when he said, You know, I couldn't guarantee that he would accept the result and then, of course, and now, of course, Republicans accused Democrats being the ones who never accepted the result. The legitimacy of the 2016 An election, although, of course Hillary Clinton did concede the day after. But again we have the president over and over, saying this election is going to be rigged. This election is going to be improper. The very existence of people voting by mail, a system that existed in many faiths long before Donald Trump was a candidate for anything but just saying that the existence of that system automatically guarantees This election will be fraud fraudulent on and part of the reason that that's potentially so serious number one because you know, democracy relies upon a certain measure of trust that people Trust in the system. Trust in institutions believe that it's an accurate representation of the popular will, but number two because there's so many unique challenges to this election because there's going to be such an unusual value of people voting by mail. I probably will take a while to count all those votes and you could imagine a situation where you know the early vote count goes for one candidate. That is more votes come in. It's hard to change. That's been very easy for that candidate Seo will somebody's monkeying with the number. Somebody's doing something improper, creating doubt in the minds of their supporters, potentially making their supporters want to take to the streets because they feel that their votes are being taken away from them, And that's very dangerous when it's not warranted when it's when it's nearly No Jen DUP in one's perceived political interests that really endangers the bedrock of our democracy. And so there's a lot of concern that that that people have accurate information that people understand that the vote will take a while to count very well may not know the winner of the presidential or many other close elections on election night, and that's OK. That's not something going wrong. In fact, that's the system functioning as it is supposed to function. We should all just take a deep breath and pay for those votes to get

"So if nothing is free, we might ask ourselves what that means about our faith. Does it cost something to get into heaven follow Jesus. What could you give to? God. That would make him give you heaven. To be honest if the world was a completely fair place, we couldn't get into heaven. There's nothing that we can do on our own. THAT MAKES US worthy? Of Heaven. We can't bargain our way in. We can't pay money to get in. We can't work our way in. So what do we do? Thankfully. God. Knew there was nothing we could do that would make us worthy of having. In Paul's letter to the Romans, he tells us that all have sin following short of the glory of God. It explains further that even though we have sinned in aren't worthy of God through Jesus Christ, we have been given a gift. All of us. God leaves nobody out.

Getting Naked in San Francisco: A History

"Who other than reporter just plot check could take on this not safe for work assignment off she goes from. The state of California has indecent exposure laws, but those only apply if someone is being sexual like masturbating in public or intentionally offensive flashing someone. But what if you're just hanging out naked minding your own business? California leaves that up to local governments. For the first half of the Twentieth Century San Francisco didn't have public nudity laws. FRISKIN S- just didn't go nude much but then the sixties arrived and with it naked people. Some saw disrobing as a form of political artistic or personal expression college students got a taste for streaking and then there were the hippies. It's just delightful to be in I'll be in and that's what this is another exotic prank to add to a growing list of student oriented rites of Spring. It's sort of a happy happening for hippies in San Francisco hippies wanted to get closer to nature and they got naked a lot in golden gate park. Here's a quote from police chief. Thomas Hill it wasn't uncommon for a Gal that come out of the bushes there in the. Panhandle. Without a damn stitch and stand right in front of you with our hands up. I was out in the park in two started going to it on the lawn beside me just to remind you sex is sexual and as such already illegal according to the state. But still conservatives wanted tougher local laws to prevent this kind of behavior and they eventually got nudity banned in the parks. However, the rest of San Francisco was still fair game. As time passed other cities made public nudity illegal among them, San Jose, and Berkeley Berkeley's interesting because it's been mostly due to one naked Guy Andrew Martinez a student at the University of California Berkeley. Decided that American society is sexually repressed and in an effort to write things he began attending classes and going everywhere else in the nude save for a pair of sandals backpack people theorized that Martinez was able to go nude without major complaint for so long because he was easy on the is Martinez attempted shock tactic soon, became old news among his fellow students to me was simply the naked guy. Administrators however sent Martinez home to stay warm until his case can be considered by a student conduct board in Nineteen ninety-two Martinez was expelled showed up naked to his disciplinary hearing at UC. Then in one, thousand, nine, hundred, three here arrived naked to a Berkeley city council meeting members were offended and voted to make public nudity a misdemeanor crime. Back in San Francisco Nudist, enjoy their time in the Sun City developed a reputation for bodies in the buff especially at certain public events like folsom street fair a leather fetish festival or Beta breakers of rambunctious twelve k race who was an exhilarating experience people on the sidelines cheering. Go naked people go. All right. This is a rich Pasco in nineteen, ninety eight he started running naked in Beta breakers. Pasco is also the coordinator of the Bay Area Nature rests we're group of people who believe that the human body is God's divine creation nothing to be ashamed of, and that our interaction with Mother Nature is enhanced by removing the barrier of clothing. POSCO says it wasn't just public events where people could let it all hang out there also newt approved beaches in certain places where nudists would congregate lose a group of people in San Francisco who thought that going new to Jane Warner Plaza would be a good idea. Augustines Teenage Coauthor

"In three eighty, nine Augustine Co wrote a book called it the teacher. The title comes from a Text Matthew Chapter Twenty three verse. Ten. which reads for you have one instructor or one teacher. Christ. Augusta and said, this book discusses and inquires and discovers that there is no teacher who teaches men knowledge accept God. As, written in the Gospel and he quotes Matthew Chapter Twenty, three ten of course that is very significant the title of the Book and where it came from it's also significant that this book was written in three eighty nine. It was just three years after Agustin's conversion you remember his story, he leaves Hippo there north. Africa goes up to Rome goes to Milan is literally running away from God like Jona or the Prodigal son. But God catches him. In fact, God has been directing him and directing every step of his path straight to him and in three eighty, six in. Milan. He was converted and three, eighty eight he leaves Rome, and heads back to Carthage, and then onto the gassed and hippo in North Africa, and there he will serve for the rest of his life as bishop. But this is in three, eighty nine. It is early in his Christian time. So the title is significant the date is significant but what is really significant is that Augusta had a CO author for this book and this was not just any CO author. It was a teenager sixteen year old came along to help Augusta and write this book. And was not does any sixteen year old? It was his son at data's the teacher is a dialogue, a dialogue between father and son the father. Augusta and the Sun Addio data's his son's name literally means a gift from God dot to means Gift Day Oh of course God and awe is the preposition that means from. He too was converted right at the same time Augustine was, and they were also baptized by Ambrose there in Milan and audio Dada was baptized as he was turning fifteen he went with his father back to Carthage, and then in three eighty nine, they wrote this book together in the confessions. This is what Augusta says of it. There is a book of mine called the teacher which consists of a dialogue between Avocados and myself, and now Augustine who in the confessions rights most directly to God, and so he says, you know addressing God let all the ideas expressed by the second speaker in the discussion his. Although he was only sixteen when it took place and I learned for myself that he had many other talents, even more remarkable than this, his intelligence left me spellbound and who but you who but you? Could work such wonders is so here's a guston singing. The praises of his son at your data, and as they wrote this book together well in the Book Augusta. Talks about how we use words to communicate words are symbols, their signs, they signify things. Patio donnas comes to realize that words put us on the alert they make us ready to learn. But ultimately, the words we used to learn ultimately all that is sourced in God in Christ is our teacher well, then conclusion Augustine says this to no end to love him and his to know and to love God is the blessed life which all proclaimed that they are seeking but few have the joy of really finding that is to say all want the good life but only few find it. And that was Agustin's hope for his son Avocados. Well, sad to say that a year after this book, his son at Yoda's died in Augusta who was very sorrowful from this could at least take comfort in the fact that his son died in Christ and so a Guston was confident. His son Bodice was with God.

We can't only report transpeople than media. When died we need to celebrate them when they're alive and admit E. N. is such a core thing. So I'm so excited like play her story on this podcast. Should we get to the interview? Yes I am so excited for everyone to hear the conversation we had. To this is Scott and e Enfield Stewart. Here it is. Still. Em thank you so much for joining me for taking the time. I'm just going to jump right in I. Really wanted to sort of learn more about the work that you're doing at the OCHRE project. Can you tell me a little bit about what it is and bring me back to where the ideas started? How did you come up with the idea? I was sitting on a couch in December two, thousand, eighteen in my home eating their ways a masculine person who was part of the organizing meeting and they were talking over me a bit and I really feel like I was being heard. So I put myself on mute and it turned my friend Nyla and I said Hey I have this idea and I had been thinking for a couple of weeks that I want to do something to give back to the Community because I knew that I was going to be going back to a home and family that raised me that I felt comfortable being my complete self with and I knew that that was a privilege that I possessed. So I said tonight you know what if we were to raise money through your fund that you've created, which is glad Trans Solidarity Fund and it's reparations group that is dedicated to shifting funds from the mainstream back into the hands of black transpeople. NYLA thought the idea was great. So we use those funds to pay a chef we worked with me August of Zadie kitchen. The I had the ideal Sunday on Monday a we had a meeting with Maliki Maliki greed. Our hope was raised about like five hundred dollars worked with a couple people. We released the project on a Wednesday and by Friday we had raised six thousand dollars all through individual donations. So we were totally blown away by and made the commitment then and there that you know, will you know run this thing to the wheels fall off and the wheels have now fallen off yet so here we are I'm wondering you know, why do you think there is such a resounding amount of support whicher analysis on that? You know it's interesting. I think that I constantly find myself shocked and puzzled by why and how people believe in the work that we do. It just seems so strange to be a part of something that people are actively saying, Hey, we believe in an Arlington we believe in it, but we want it to continue I think that part of it is that you know it. The idea of taking luxury and making it something that's accessible to the most marginalized people saga. I personally am very committed to interrupting this idea that luxury should be exclusive and rather making luxury something that is available to all people and most importantly to the most marginalized in our community. From you the idea of having you know a black trans. CHEF. Come into your home and cook a healthy home-cooked Pacific meal for you. Unit for black people in particular, the kitchen is such a place of familial lineage. It's a place of community place of love it's it's just were so so many things happen in so much a daily life occurs in the kitchen and so to have that kitchen be filled with someone who looks loves and lives like you as a luxury and a joy and builds community because you're not just having kind of this person who comes in and cooks for you and then leaves, but you're rather creating an experience of community where this person is someone who? Can become community. They can become chosen. Family knows what is possible when someone who looks loves and lives like you chooses you and prioritizes you and says, you are special and you are worthy of receiving this meal and you are worthy of sitting back and relaxing and has someone do for you and I think that that for a community of people who for so long have had to make everything out of nothing I think that's just such a gift and such a beautiful thing to have someone say I will do for you because you're worth it.

Solving the Murders of Katherine and Sheila Lyon

"Not like we're just talking about it for any kind of thrill. We're talking about it because we need to know what's going on in our society that's making this happen really drew. Okay, so we'll start John. Lyon, met his future wife. Xavier. University in Cincinnati. They were both students there. His wife Mary was from Erlanger Kentucky John was the Chicago. Boy. They married in Air Langer and had their first child a boy they named. Jay. Then after graduation John got a job at a radio station in Ohio, that's where Sheila was born. then. He worked at a radio station Illinois and Catherine more and they're. Following that John worked in both TV and radio in Peoria. He was on a daytime children's program where he played the guitar and Banjo. And in that same time period, nary was in a folk band. And then she gave birth to their youngest child Joe. Some pretty cool people I. Think they sound very interesting. He does. And she s in a folk band I. think that's really cool and it was the seventies. So they were kind of hit by guests. Yeah, probably. John's hard work eventually paid off. You got hired at W. M. A., l.. which at the time, the seventies was the most popular radio station in Washington, D.. C.. And John, was a pretty talented radio personality. So working at this station's worked as a fill in disc jockey, he read the news and he performed in a band, the multitask. Yeah John and Mary were both Pretty Witty People very well-spoken. So March Twenty, ninth nineteen, seventy, five was unseasonably warm in the suburbs of Washington. DC. Catherine. And Sheila Lyon. Ages ten and twelve were on spring break from school. John had worked the night shift the night before and drove home at six. Am that morning and went to bed. She learned Catherine. went to the Wheaton Mall. They had two dollars between them and they plan to get two slices of pizza. And Mary was happy to see them go together. She led the older one, didn't always want to spend time with their little sister, but recently, the two would become close played together like friends. But John Woke up that afternoon to an empty house. Mary had gone bowling and the boys were off playing with friends in the neighborhood. Mary came home with their younger boy. Joe Soon, after John Woke up, then he went back to bed for nap before dinner and Mary went and Rick. Some leaves in their backyard. When the sun began to go down, Mary really began to worry about her daughters. They were usually really good about being home for dinner and Sheila would call if they were at a neighbor's house playing. But Sheila had called and there had been no sign of the girls. But this is nineteen, seventy five. Your mind is not going to go to objection at this point. Nobody really thought like that. No, not then now. So they went ahead and had dinner with the two boys waiting for the girls to show up assuming they would. and. When there was still no word after they finish dinner Mary began calling around to all of their friends. No one had seen them though. So the family drove around looking for the girls and as time passed and they looked for their daughters in the Dr, the alarms really began to go off in their heads that something was wrong. So that's when they decided to call the police. But most runaways. The lions sisters, and they were nearly always found within twenty four hours. So when these girls were still missing overnight, the police began to realize that this was a case that was different. And the idea of follow play was becoming a real possibility at that point. The John and Mary told the police that this was just totally out of character for their girls both were honor roll students, and they both followed rules Catherine who went by Kate. Was the outgoing. Canon to SonyHow bout That?!!! and more

"Wow can just wow. If there was no doubt that Canon saw the writing on the wall, writing in Sony's handwriting. By the way, the unveiling of the company's new are five and our full frame, airless bodies leaves no doubt and if you're Nikon, you gotta be feeling a little bit woozy by the bus. Just hit you and a bunch of other darn metaphors, because cannon is not only on the board there on the board in a big way. I told you there'd be more metaphors. Metaphors and there was endless metaphors to describe the bomb draft Donnas, by cannon accompany, that clearly wants Sony to know that they're not gonNA. Make it easy on them. If you're a cannon user who's been thinking about jumping ship to Sony Ding, there's another metaphor right there. TAP The breaks hard ding another, because you now have little reason to look elsewhere. The New Canon Eos are five and six have just confirmed companies relevancy in full frame mirror less of that. There is no question now. Now none if anyone tells you otherwise, they just don't know what they're talking about. My friends. Canon has stepped up to the plate Ding and deliver the goods big time another one. Let's just say Ding so much so that if I were looking for a full frame system, which I'm not, I think I'd have to give the nod to cannon over Sony. That's how big of a deal these new bodies are I. Know I can hardly believe I'm saying it myself cannon, you've impressed me. Me Now before we get into the specs of these wonderful bodies, if you're still a DS, lar- user and you're looking for something that not only looks and feels like ds lar- especially of the Canon variety, but is a true replacement of your DSL are the new Canon Eos are five. Is that body don it just is and the egos are six is the lesser extent, but we'll get to that in a minute here if you currently shoot a cannon five. D Mark Four. Five that you're looking for this, is it the five for all intents and purposes is a meritless five d five, so whereas the actual mark, five DSL are kind, I believe it still might becoming, even though we've heard rumors recently that the mark four is the end of the line, but we'll see I give that about a fifty fifty chance, and if that five d mark five is coming, and then it's GonNa be a while you know. Cannon clearly wants entice you over into their merely system right now besides if we do. Do, see a five d mark five. I think that right? There would be the end of the line. No doubt about it again. murless sales are up DS lar- sales are down, and that's just not ever changing just like film. Cameras died out when we went digital. Now under the hood of the does are five is a brand spanking. New Cannon made forty five megapixel sensor powered by the incredible digit, ten processor from the one deacs mark three, and while we'll get to the stills in a second. This powerhouse Combo allows the. To capture eight K. raw video internally up to thirty P. and yes, that takes a lot of processing power and a lot of processing power equals a lot of heat, and we've heard some rumors about overheating. These things get taken care of so i. don't think it's really that much of a cause for concern so when all is good on that front. You're talking eight K. video at thirty P. ten bit for two to four K. up to one twenty p. that's what most people probably gonNA. Shoot and you think about it that is. Is just astounding. Right there. It'll be a good long time though before anybody's routinely using this body to shoot Aka because remember just because you can doesn't mean you should, and that applies to Aka video unless you have clients that want Aka or you just absolutely have to have something that is future-proof up to eight K.. You're just not gonNA shoot it. You're also going to need a high end computer. We're talking the fastest of the fastest out there, and you're going to need more money for hard drives, because remember that footage takes up. Space. You're saving eight K. video for the most rare circumstances in my opinion like busting out the good wine when the friends come over that now on the still front, which most of us are interested in the EEOC are five can capture an amazing twenty frames per second with its electric shudder, or what's going to be plenty for most people twelve frames per second with its mechanical shutter, all that with no crop or focus limitations, none and that's pretty impressive. Twelve frames per second is all you really need unless you just absolutely have all day to call images, and you really enjoy that which most people? People don't I wouldn't suggest shooting over twelve frames per second again. Learn how to shoot and learn when a throw those frames down range when you need them, you know if you're shooting an air show for instance when that becomes I, think again, and you've got a jet screaming past you then yeah, maybe throw twenty frames per second at it, but it's an electronic shutter, so you're probably going to have some distortion. They're also known as you're going to have a lot of distortion, so just shoot twelve frames per second and learn how to deal with

"The Leafs two to one and regulations of the lightning's magic number stays at thirteen points for clinching a playoff berth but it's still a big lead they have eleven point lead on the Leafs right now and they have a fourteen point lead on the Florida Panthers and when they reach if when they reach a point where the Panthers for the Leafs if the Panthers overtake the least cannot catch the lightning mathematically the lightning will have clinched a playoff berth it's also possible that if the Panthers at least get extremely hot to win the wild card teams will reach a point that it can't reach the lightning a lighting will be secured a spot in the top eight but these have more work to do it's it's not a foregone conclusion yet but they have twelve games left seven at home five on the road after this loss to Toronto let's bring in regular Elian Greg about what two hours and forty five minutes ago we were having this conversation about the intensity level or the desperation urgency level and I was wondering if the lightning we're going to be able to match what you figure was going to be a very high urgency level from Toronto given their place in the standings and they're tough road trip out in California in the it's in the first period was no but after that the answer was yes and unfortunately for them they gave up a couple of power play goals and cost themselves a chance to get some points out of this game you mentioned David anything special teams this probably will look back and say that was maybe the difference in this game I thought Frederick Anderson to his credit was really good you know he was the guy that had been a bit up and down this year and was talking to couple Toronto people on my show and and they felt like he needed to really be big not only tonight but from here on out I thought he was really good so kudos to him from that standpoint but you know the first period wasn't great and you know Eric and I were talking about it Dave in that intermission maybe a little deflating to I know you did as well with their Kalani maybe that was something that you felt like if Tampa Bay got one maybe Serrano would you know kinda wilt a bit but they didn't and to your point special teams though was was the big difference in this game I don't want to over analyze it too too much you know they were a bit better and they needed this one a lot more so give credit them brining mom and I talked in the pregame you wear that interview and I asked his opinion on where the lightning's game was that they are not at the point that they were for much of January and February when they went on that twenty three two in one stretch in terms of their team defense but if you're gonna get out competed you're gonna have a hard time so let's let's throw the first period out the window and and look at the rest of the game once their compete level matched where the Leafs were and I think five one five they did a pretty good job tonight and I guess moving forward you know we're gonna have to see you're only as good as your last game I think generally over these last few games understanding like circumstances played a role certainly in in the Detroit game with the the travel and all of that I think there five on five game is coming along where I am seeing areas of concern though is the penalty kill so the penalty kill had gone seven straight games where they allowed at least one goal in all seven and an all the allowed ten power play goals over seven game stretch then they strung together two games where they went three for three three for three against Boston to Montreal the homestand but they allowed power play goals in all three games on this trip and there there have been some some leaky play I mean no other way to put it where whether they're losing faceoffs are not getting pucks down the a store on the Matthews game winning goal that was a coverage issue and I do think especially if the C. Toronto in the first round now try was scored four power play goals in the last two games against them they need to they need to tighten that back up to where it was when they were on that hot streak that to me is the bigger concern than any kind of five on five play that I'm seeing yeah and you know times Coleman and growth look really good together ands you know maybe this is a situation where you know those guys the more they play with one another they'll feel a little bit more comfortable I always feel like two special teams David go in spurts and so you want to see Tampa Bay may be tied up for the stretch run maybe a good stretch of PK is going to be happening here moving forward but I think a lot of it too is you know the faceoffs what you do before the faceoffs and being smart as you mentioned with the Matthews will there is a break down so the good news is I think it's correctable of course the best way to stay away from that is not taking the penalties and you know come playoff time zero know how officiating is going to be right now once you get all that and you bring up a good point I I I think I'd mentioned in the lighting our in the top three for most time short handed and that is an area they want to improve this year yet that's going in the wrong direction they were shorthanded five more times tonight that needs to change for sure because that's something that they've been preaching and it's probably the one area where they've come up a bit short this year when you talk about everything they've tried to accomplish from training camp on so it's easier said than done for sure but if they can limit baths and be a little bit more discipline takes a lot of pressure off of your penalty killers in addition to vast Leschi yeah exactly now I didn't want to end on a down note I thought the lightning do deserve credit for for pushing back against a desperate team as they did in the second and the third and the power play conversely didn't score of eight nine shots and they had scored a power play goal in three straight games coming into this game so while the penalty kill lighting is leaking a little bit of oil to me I can see the power play particularly as they just a life without stamp goes in the immediate future through the end of the regular season certainly they're finding ways to to get some looks and I think that's a positive side so for me all in on that let you kind of give me your thoughts on that little side off you know it's a good point and sometimes when you take a player like Stamkos out maybe you can simplify things a bit you know we've seen circuits have have maybe a little bit more of a shoot first mentality because of his abilities to do that getting the pucks on that junk ever talk about this couple days ago it's been a little bit of a weakness for them this year in terms of getting blocked or missing than that but they can simplify that a little bit more obviously having Victor Hedman nominal you know not the lab that that hurts as well but I'm not too concerned about their power play because I think there is enough talent there to understand if it's the perfect place not there we can simplify it and we see enough games this year were just getting the puck on net can be beneficial but you know it's your point came up a bit short tonight but I I think that's something they'll continue to improve on even listing of coson had been nonaligned up right now all right Greg C. Thursday fires by the way no longer winning streak so that he can be seen the lightning looking to end a losing skid as they lost to Boston tonight no of the the out of town scores as well all right that'll do it for me thinks that waterfall tonight's broadcast Morgan lashed back at the lady reading over studios Paul gatt along side me here in Toronto for Greg when Elian error Kurland said this is Dave Mishkin saying so long from Toronto final score tonight it was the maple Leafs too and the lightning one goodnight.

"Goals in his last ten games. He's got forty this season. Six hundred ninety eight on the career chasing chasing Wayne Gretzky eight ninety four for Gartner Espo Dion Hall Yager how then Gretzky and you look at the game against Los Angeles. They held them. Shot Lewis for what was it fifty four minutes and then bang in four and a half minutes. Patrick I know I used to. Maybe I still do a little bit chuckle. When David Amber would say he's going to be Gretzky? I'm still chuckling. But it's quieter the you know. I have to say this. I want to find this clip from the two thousand Sixteen World Cup of hockey or inaugural events. Go and ask them about Gretzky and I will say Oh veterans a lot of great interviews. He wasn't as best Thaddeus but when I brought up the Gretzky thing he immediately perked up and he looked at me like I was nuts past five hundred goals last year the NHL Record for goals eight ninety four wing Gretzky. Do you ever think about that being number one ever. I don't think Toco somebody will be disrupted and this Hockey right now in this sleep. I think it's possible impossible Gretzky. It's impossible you could challenge so you might be able to do. I have to have six season for fifty goals. I don't know if I'M GONNA be able to skate on six years. But you know what you can tell. He wants to do this. Everyone's talking about and I talked about angles is impossible to deal with when you give him a compliment. If.

"A. That's a tough flight back to to personalize it a little bit more than you know than than we normally do in podcasts or do the way we talk about hockey players. It's gotta be hard flight home for Michael Hatches and like as a team like if you're Johnson bars you the captain of the team. What are you saying to Michael Hodgson on the flight back? Yeah that is a tough one really tough and you know you saw two virus at the end of the second period. Just after he gave up that fourth goal which was a really really really hard one you know making sure he waited to give him the tap like just trying to do anything to make him feel a little bit better. It's a moment jeff. That's that's really hard moment way to absolutely kill the mood. But it's a very very very fair point okay. Becomes the question what what happens with the police. He's now and do you think they're done. I don't think they have to be done. Like I think they let this breathe Clifford. They were in New York. The kings were so you know what the thing is. Clifford in Campbell probably flew home with them too. So they're going to you know they're gonNA meet the media on Thursday and they play the ducks on Friday. They could be in the lineup against. It's a team. They both know very well. I think the one thing is trevor more. That's what the Kings want. They want a young player. Quick player a player is going to get more opportunity there in here and what it allows Toronto to say is. We didn't have to give up one of captain or Kerr foot or Yonsin and that means they still have those those items in their arsenal if they wanna do more now and I think that's the question is is this just. Is this the only change they'd say let's see what happens with our goaltending now better or do they say you know what we're going out and we're getting a D.. I think the initial plan was to let this play out closer sorta deadline and see what they see how it played out By we'll see they still have the opportunity to make those moves if they want to do them one small thing as well on on Trevor. Don't forget the Los Angeles kings are kind of getting a local boy here to write the kid from California And that always plays well as much much is that. Might you know. Sting someone Trevor Moore who you know leaves his first. NHL team he is going home here you know he is going to play at the staples APL centers so as much as it might suck not going to a playoff team. The kids going home and he's going to get a chance to play more and you get a chance. Taymor ended up going home. If you're not gonNA play he's GonNa play and you know. We talked about this on the show tonight as well Elliott and that was if you're the Los Angeles kings what are you looking for you. He looking for scoring. You're looking for speed and you're looking for youth correct. Yes and he's on a good contract any on a good contract and that guy works his does too does not clear. Now I gotta say something just before we wrap this insert up so the trade broke around ten forty five and later somebody sent me a picture of tweet and guess around ten o'clock a burner account on twitter had it and I can't give you the name of the burner account count because I don't want to get fired but I was talking about this when things cooled down while we were waiting to set this up with a couple of people around the League back and it's interesting like people are going to be searching for the identity of that person who it is. No it's gotta be somebody. You knew one of the players. That's my guess. didn't have the picks Campbell they clifford and they had more. When you see something like this your competitive juices get going is a challenge to you now? Are you going to turn into the Hockey media's Hercule. Oh Farro for all those Agatha they're trying to solve this no I. I'm curious I'm not gonNA do it publicly. I am curious privately by I will. We'll tell you I was talking about it with a couple of GM's tonight and they say that that would make them crazy if it was their deal. The game one of the Jim said to me. It's bad enough when you get it all.

"I think you gotta do it because it's a free for all out there, and the officials are gonna miss a lot like EJ yesterday that they're letting a lot of stuff go because it's just unbelievable how much it's ratcheted up from the regular season, and you can't call everything. But some things get missed. So the the disciplinary in the National Hockey League has to be severe, otherwise these guys are gonna just go crazy. So I think he got a hand out the suspensions, you gotta do the right thing. And I think they got right with all the suspensions that they had makuuchi off deserve the game kucherov veers off his path. He sees a prone player and he hit him. That's a suspended defense Kadri head hunting with crosscheck is a suspended defense, especially with his history. They got it. Right. Donald says Avon love your show. Do you think the Allders finish off the penguins tonight and blue jackets finish off the lightning tonight with sweeps or the both penguins and the lightning force again five again, I feel better about the penguins of the lightning. I've misread the lightning for. Longtime here. But maybe the reason I miss read them is because I thought that they were better than they actually were. So I do believe that Pittsburgh's got the better chance to force a game five than Tampa. Does. Phoenix jet says Don you said yesterday messy wants to be the Rangers. President also wanted to head coaching job has he ever done anything to work. His way up seems like he has a sense of entitlement that he should get these jobs without paying his dues thoughts. I I'm not saying you're wrong because I've said that as far as the head coaching is concerned if Mark is really committed to being a head coach go down in the minor leagues being assisted someplace pay your dues. And then get the head coaching job. I'm not really sure how I feel about president. Because John Davidson who was rumored to be the next president of the Rangers necessarily pay his dues to be president of the blues and the blue jackets after he left the Rangers broadcast booth, but he knows hockey he interviewed he interviewed well represented the organization very well. And got the opportunity because I think it's a different job. Mark messy knows hockey. Mark Messier has relationships with people in hockey is dad was a hockey guy. You know? So I think I don't necessarily believe that you gotta pay your dues as a president. But a head coach completely agree with you. And I would say tomorrow if Marc wants an opportunity to the head coach of the Rangers or whoever else down the road. There are ways to do it look at the avenue. John McLean is taken Kirk Muller is a guy Rick tok. It's guy all those guys were assistance..

"It's so easy to look at it and say while they're gonna change the goaltender right Riddick. Split time with Smith during the course of the year. There was legitimate questions on whether Smith should've been the starting goaltender for the flames. So this would be the perfect opportunity after getting crushed sixty two being down to one of the series to go to Riddick. I say no because I look at the first three games of the series. I don't fault Smith. He was outstanding in game. One. He faced fifty six shots last night. He made fifty saves fifty. There's nothing wrong with the goaltending. It's the play in front of them. I mean this to be a solid defensive team Calgary you give fifty six shots. That's ridiculous. And you look at the goals would Smith supposed to do. New MacKinnon was on fire may car goes right off a UMass within a whisker of winning national championship wins the hobey Baker award plops in his first ever playoff game. I ever game in the NHL. He scores a gold three nothing. It's four nothing in the second period. And I don't think any of the goals were necessarily Smith's fall. So the knee jerk reaction to go Riddick. And maybe that's what the flames do. But I'd say stay with. He's been the best part of the flames game so far in these playoffs. He really has. You telling me Riddick would save the day yesterday when he's going to have to face fifty six shots. No way. And how about this disturbing stat flames one sixty one percent of the faceoff, but they could control the puck. Flames had more hits. But you know, what the avalanche finish McKinnon's just a flat-out star. He was just been sick. And and of course, taking penalties. Eight power plays for the avalanche ridiculous ridiculous to blame Smith when your team's committing eight penalties where the star scoring some goals here grow shutdown again, he was minus three. So the knee jerk could be go at Riddick. And maybe that's what they do. I don't I stay with Smith another game. Now, if they lose him go down three one if you wanna make the change just out of desperation to say, hey, we gotta change something. We're facing on the nation. Maybe Riddick gives the bit of spark that's fine because you're desperate because now you're facing elimination. But to one down, I'm not gonna panic. I mean Smith been the best part of the flames game here. They can get square through game four tied at two. And then you get home ice advantage for what in effect becomes a three-game series. That's what I'm doing. I'm not gonna change goaltender. I think that would be ridiculous. All right here. The four games tonight. It's hard to believe I'm gonna say this but the Tampa Bay Lightning facing elimination Columbus again. The blue jackets, and you know, it's easy to say the lightning to win this game going away because they just can't possibly get swept. All right. I can buy that. But I couldn't imagine they'd be down three games to none. I thought game two. There were an easy bet after they blew the three nothing lead and the three one lead going into the third period that they would crush the blue jackets Tampa game to didn't do it. Oh, well, then of course, they're going to go to Columbus member. Columbus at the two nothing series lead on Washington winning both games in DC last year only to squander it away with home ice last season. Losing those games in Columbus? Eventually losing the series in six games, you figure the same thing's going to happen. But then the blue jackets went again. I don't know what state Tampa's in right now. I mean, I don't know how they feel about their game..

"And they were not shut out all asked you're in the postseason and the thing with the hurricanes is that you knew they were going to push back at home. They are a team that's played berry well on home ice. And I didn't think they were gonna go away. They lose game to overtime. They fought back from three nothing down three two in game one, and they get home that little bit of an advantage was was a big help. But you know, the big thing is special call fighting Ovechkin which probably isn't the smartest thing to do. And he got it. Right. And a chin gets knocked out. But look how the team was inspired. I think they were outshot thirty to eight the rest of the way after the fight because nineteen year olds going after one of the best players in the NHL. Even though he got knocked on his fanny the fact is that he did it. He defended his teammates. I guess Ovechkin got into it with slave and a little bit early on the game that kinda got everybody going in the right direction as far as the physicality was concerned. But the fact that even though he didn't push back by getting knocked out the fact that he went and danced with the best in the league and animals to tougher -fession golf to do. Ovechkin felt bad about it after the game. That knocked them out. Everybody did what they had to do before nineteen year old to do that going against an icon. I think really spurred the hurricanes on the rest of the way and really the third period was flat out disturbing. When you consider the fact that for the majority of the third period, the capitals didn't even get a shot on goal, which is ridiculous and the secondary and tertiary scoring shoes. No, Otto notaire vein who is it. It's fogel. It's hamilton. That's when you know, you're gonna be winning some playoff games McGinn had a great goal to in this game. So you get four five goals on the night. But you don't get a stall goal. You. Don't get a special cough, coal, obviously. Because it got punched in the face. So it wasn't like you were carried by your superstars. But the secondary scoring tertiary scoring. That's what's gonna really help the wash the the hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals. So that was pretty big so nice win for Carolina. And also they they went up to the blue line. You kind of maybe they're gonna charge towards the the the wall to the glass and do that celebration. We were kind of thinking how would they handle their first playoff win? In ten years. And they do the things that they did the history onyx that we saw in the regular season. They didn't do that. Because I don't think there's a place for it in the postseason just because you gotta play the same team. Again, you're down to one in the series. So wasn't like really accomplished anything. Maybe they'll do it after they win the series if they shake hands with the capitals, and they move on to the second round the capital's go back to the dressing room, if they want to celebrate in that way, it just awkward to do it within the confines of the series. So I was curious to see what the hurricanes with do. I actually stayed with the game to say and the hurricane celebrated just as any normal team would went to the blue line raised their sticks to the fans, and I was probably the right thing to do. I think Washington is fine. But it was a huge statement by Carolina for sure we'll see what happens in game for back in Raleigh predators. Three to him. Over the Dallas Stars the big moment in this game was pack arena and a huge save on Jamie band late. When looked like that was going to be the stars game winning goal was tied at two stars fight back to tie it after the predators. Scored the first two goals of the game. And it looked like they were in solid control in this game three. And again, we talk about getting scoring from somebody other than your top line. Gremaldi gets his second of the postseason was huge fours. Berg lights, the lamp he of course of frontline players. So you kind of get it both ways there, but a huge goal by zuccarello late in in period. Number two..

"The. Is that game misconduct podcast with Don league-record and welcome to the Tuesday Dacian of games conduct down down the Greco. Hopefully, everybody's having a phenomenal day. A lot of great games last night. A lot of interesting storylines as we get deeper deeper into the Spurs round. Let's start from the beginning leaves take a two one series lead on Boston courtesy of their three two win over Toronto. And the guy that's really emerging as a star we saw there. And of course, the regular season it has really been the play of Mitch mourner. And just what a difference maker. He can be as a player. He's just so well rounded he blocked shots, he assists. He scores. So you look at Matthew's you look at. Yonsin and what they did all certainly that was big, but Mitch martyr is just such an important player to this team. And that's really how you know. You're good playoff team. They can go far you've got your stars in martyr is emerging as a flat out star. But even when Neil Neil Lander doesn't give you much didn't score a point in this game. You know, Marlowe nothing captain was minus one no points. Matthews did have two points including the goal for. Sure. But Taveras had just an assist no goals. But Monir gets a point. He had two hits in the game. Five shots on goal. Which led the team? He had the big block shot late in the game. When the in the the Maple Leafs are trying to protect the lead. Just a great great effort by Toronto. And they're up two games to one and they serve to be up two games to one based on the fact that they bounced back after the game two loss. Boston bounce back after the game one loss, but where's the consistency? With the Bruins right now. I mean, really. We look at this team. You know, they become more like a one line team stopped the one line and your great shape. Pasternack? They're trying to feed him. The puck did have three shots on goal. But no points in the game. Which is a problem. Bergereon no points in the game last night marshawn no points in the game. So really Toronto's been able to focus on the big three shut them down for the most part. But when I watched the three games, and you guys could tell me at Donald Gregg Nash tag game is conduct. I don't think Boston's played their best by any stretch. I don't look at the series and go well Toronto is just such so much better team because they're not you know, Anderson made some big saves obviously down the stretch when look like Boston was going to tie the game. But for the most part Boston's just played inconsistent. They gotta wake up here. They really do. And maybe they will eventually when the the series in six games and nobody's going to think twice about it. But you thought they recovered after the game on loss. They played a much better game thoroughly beat Toronto. And then you turn around and again, the efforts not quite the same. They almost still win the game three touring. That's be disconcerting for me. If I'm if I'm Lee fan is that you're really not getting Boston's best, but you not kill them either. Right. So Boston plays a little bit better place more to the back of their hockey card. I think they're still winning this series. But still you're down two games to one. You're one loss away from facing elimination. You're playing around this team. And you better be careful because Toronto's always played a little bit better on the road than at home. So even if you get the victory in Toronto in game four that doesn't guarantee anything I still think Boston's gonna win this series. I wouldn't panic based just on the fact that I think Boston can bring a little bit word of. A table so game one wasn't a wakeup call. We'll see if game three is and see if they can't even the series up at two the other story hurricane shut out the capitals five nothing. First time in seven years. The capitals were shut out in the playoffs..

"You've got to be leery of. So I don't I don't think we should take away the win because of that factor. I do think that there's some pressure being added by Fletcher saying that they're really no untouchables on the team. So a lot of the players are. Playing knowing that they may be acquired by other organizations. So I don't believe that. There's no pressure in Philadelphia. It is sometimes a little easier to play when it's four something personal rather than for the ultimate team goal of making the playoffs. But only anybody in that room is counting themselves out. Just yet. It's not even February. So I think there is a lot of value to Philadelphia's doing and congratulations to the way that they're playing. We'll see if they can keep it up. David Hynes says as a former devil fan, which uniform color scheme, you prefer the old red and green look or the current red and black. Well, unfortunately, the the green uniforms got dub Christmas trees, and you look back at them. And it's kind of an eyesore liked them at the time. But I do like the addition of black, and I'm not a big fan of of adding black to the jerseys the way all these teams do, but considering the devils have pretty much all of their success with those jerseys. And I think they do look a lot sharper than the Christmas tree jerseys. Although I do like the throwbacks when they do play them. It's very nostalgic, but I wouldn't want to see them. Go back to it full-time. Mark says are there are rumors that is looking to make a deadline deal for the islanders. What what have you heard? And what do you think he might do? Well, he'll do anything if he feels that this team can make a legitimate Ron now, I haven't heard any names specifically. But I believe they're going to be a buyer rather than a seller. Lou when he feels like he's got a good team. Why wouldn't you feel like he's got a good thing there in first place as we start play on January twenty ninth and they'll be in first place tomorrow because nobody's going to catch them with a three point bulge in one day. Is the fact that he sees an opportunity for this team to make a run. I think it's there. I don't think there's anybody. They can't beat Tampa. I would say probably not but everybody else in that given series. I give them a legitimate shot. The way they're playing away Barzel is playing away leaves playing and more importantly the way the goaltending has been and this team hasn't been out of the first round. But once in the lab. Twenty five years when they made that run to the conference final ninety three, you know, opening a new building soon trying to steal some attention. When it looks like the Rangers and devils are not gonna make the playoffs. If the islanders can have that stage by themselves for a month as their winning two series Lucy's value in that. And if you get to the conference final heck, why not Vasa left ski, Mike it hurt. Stamkos may get hurt. Kucherov might get hurt. Who knows we talked about Tampa Bay and the best team in the league? There's no guarantee they go to the conference final..

"Whether we're going off the post or the was saved by the goaltender sometimes trying to figure out where the puck is watching on television. It's been a bit of a problem. I thought FOX's was over the top. But that was twenty something years ago, and obviously back then the technology wasn't the same. So I do think there's some value to the glowing pock you don't lose it in certain areas that some of the angles it's behind the board. You can't see it. Or if the pucks underneath the goaltender where where it is in the the soup of bodies between the crease in the slot and in front of the goaltender. I just thought. Fox's was over the top as far as San Jose. We talked to EJ they did terrific job at thought the three on three was great. My only complaint is considering that it was played in the Pacific that the Pacific Division should went second. So you didn't have that awkwardness of those three shark players in Pevez sqi and burns. Not playing in the second game and then being gone right away. And in two games being played without all the sharks in the lineup. So I didn't like that. At all, Chris. Hey, Don, another impressive win for Carter heart last night. How much of his and the team's recent success is due to the pressure being off since they all but out of the playoff contention and the opposition overlooking them or is the team finally putting it together islander the opposition's. Overlooking them I mean, maybe you can make that case for Winnipeg. But I think going into Philadelphia's always kind of got people on guard because the history of it, and and I mentioned before Philadelphia may be struggling, but you still have Cluj through one of the best players in the league Fletcher said one of the best players in the history of the flyers organization. I wouldn't go that far. But he did say it, you know, and they've got nice players..

"That game misconduct podcast with Don league-record and welcome to the Tuesday edition of game is conduct. I am the Greg. Let's get right to it. Major trade the NHL last night Muhsin goes from Los Angeles to the Maple Leafs. And we've talked about it plenty of times drop the wants to make a serious run at a Stanley Cup. They had to improve their defense more. Specifically, a stay at home defenceman. We'll Muslim comes in. It's got twenty one points on the season. He's not slouches far as offenses concern, you know, play on top pairing with Riley. So there's a lot of production that that defensive units gonna give you, but they've gotta find somebody outside of Ron Hansie who's thirty seven years old that could be a guy that could stand up forwards at the blue line that can go after the best forward on the other team, matchup wise. I mean, they were gonna lose every match of Toronto in the playoffs. It gets really good team because they didn't have anybody to go up against you know, the top line for Boston team. They're likely going to play in the first round. How do you stop Sidney Crosby of getting Malik? And how do you stop Alexander Ovechkin and nNcholas Backstrom? How do you stop stamkos and kucherov? If you wanna make run to the Stanley Cup final. So I'm not saying that Muhsin cures all ills. But it makes a lot of sense now first round pick and some prospects. That's pretty juicy but Muslims under contract through next year. It's a management deal as far as the cap is concerned a four point six million dollars. And I'm sure the Toronto will consider after the nineteen twenty season. Whether they want to bring. Him back. We'll see where the calorie salary cap structure is going to be and what ends up happening with some of their free agents. But it's not like, it's a rental. You have them for a run this year and next year and may have the wherewithal to keep him around Muslim. Of course was part of to Stanley Cup championships with the Los Angeles Kings. So he's been there. He's done that. These are the types of moves teams have to make now on the surface. When you think about defense been that I want to make a run I'm not sure Jake Muhsin was on like the top list of fans out there who said that's going to be the difference between winning Stanley Cup or not. But certainly he had been on the radar of many general managers around the league Toronto makes the move. And now they've improved themselves with the acquisition of Taveras during the off season which bolstered their offense big time and has allowed them to fight through some of the injuries. They've had with Matthews with the holdout of Neil Lander. And now they get themselves study defenseman the acquisition of Hanes. He was also a good one last year. So you sprinkle in the offense with sites with Riley with Gardner, and now you've got. To stay at home guys. But Muslim as I said could produce some offense in any given year this guy that can give you forty fifty points on on Toronto. This is a guy that can be a stay at home defenseman that could score north of fifty points on this team. So I think the acquisition was good. We've seen in recent years that the trade deadline is just a mere suggestion that it seems like a lot of deals get done way before the deadline. So even before we get into February. We're seeing these deals get done so slightly under a month before the deadline Toronto, they sound the bell. I and now we'll see who else. Decides to follow will Boston trying to make a move now to try to keep up with Toronto to try to get that home ice advantage in the first round who else in the Eastern Conference is gonna make a deal. What's Pittsburgh going to do another loss for the penguins last night? They cannot beat the devils on a bet six Owen one New Jersey against Pittsburgh over the last couple of years, including all three meetings this year being devil wins. So just it's crazy that the devils a team. That listen last year. I guess it makes sense because they were a playoff team. But the doubles do not look like a playoff team this year and still own a playoff team. But this Pittsburgh think about making move to solidify a plow spot. What is Washington do as they seem to be in free fall?.
