A highlight from New England's Historic Loss & CJ Stroud Breaks Out

"Hello and welcome to the MMQB NFL podcast. I'm Conroe. That's my dog Ernie upstairs barking at the FedEx guy. Albert Breer's here and I'm going to start in New York because Albert I can't believe that we're still doing this Taylor Swift thing. And now the NFL is doing the Taylor Swift thing. Do you see that they are their subhead on their Twitter pages. The Chiefs are now 2 -0 as Swifties. I did not see that but I am more and more. It's fake. I think so too. I think on Friday like the radio show I did in Boston. They leave me at the like and these guys are really creative and they kind of like took me through their full like tinfoil hat like conspiracy theory. You know like you know what this actually really makes sense. Like because the NFL has forever chased the female demographic and they've struggled to get it. And they know that there's nothing more buzz worthy on that side of the aisle than Taylor Swift. And they were shameless enough to cut like I mean we've seen some of their shameless acts over the years to try and get the female audience. And this wouldn't even rank in like the top 10. You know what I mean like this would just be sort of par for the course that they would do something like this. So I really like I am officially on this Monday morning Connor especially after the 10 million shots that box last night. I'm all the way there. This is all fake. This is all like this is all contrived. This is it. Everyone wins situation. Taylor gets to promote her movie. What else is it? There's one other thing right is a new album coming out. I can't keep track of all of this. I have no idea. OK. So Taylor gets to promote that stuff with a different demographic. Right. Like football different demographics different than hers. The NFL gets to try to take a swing at the female audience. And then Travis Kelsey gets an enormous benefit from this. Travis Kelsey's following has exploded. Nine hundred thousand new followers. This is like an everyone wins situation. And it's all fake. A 14 point 14 whatever place jump in Jersey sales. Like we were taught in school to follow the money and it's right out in front of us. Like it's like you know we're not even it's not even like they're hiding it. And I think I'm only read some of this stuff sometimes, though, and like like over the last week, like actually clicking on some like people dot com links, you know, I've seen some stories she reads. And I always think that the page six type stuff, you know, and I always think it's funny when there's like an insider into somebody's relationship, like who would be the insider into your relationship? Connor, I, you know, when they when they when they when they put sources into your relation and then people's relationships. Yeah, the sources be I mean, it would be like my neighbor or like my mom or my wife's mom. It would be like, yeah, I think I think they're fighting, you know. Yeah. Yeah. I don't have a publicist. I always think that's great. Like is the sources into the like the insiders into the relationship? Like is that person like just coming over and hanging out on a Tuesday or something and that makes them an insider? So Brian Costello, who's awesome, Jets beat writer for the New York Post, and he tweeted the the bio for the NFL's Twitter page, which is the Chiefs two and O's Swifties. And he's totally right. This is the kind of stuff that fuels nutjob conspiracy theorists, not just the ones with the podcast. But the fans who watched that game last night and saw their saw the outcome derailed by an extraordinarily questionable call on Sauce Gardner. And listen, I'm not saying it's good, bad, right, wrong or indifferent. But if you're a Jets fan and you've already seen your entire season railroaded by the NFL's greed and desire to milk whatever they can out of this franchise and you had to do hard knocks. Every single game is on prime time. Your schedule is ridiculous, ridiculously front loaded and impossible at the beginning. You know, I don't know what else you could think right now other than your team is just being actively manipulated by by the league. And listen, I don't believe it. You know, Andy Benoit and I used to fight about the I used to get him going on the NFL's fake thing a while back. We had a lively discussion about that after Peyton Manning's second Super Bowl. But I don't believe it. I'm not one of those people. Well, you're not making them go away. I just noticed I just went to the NFL's Twitter page. It is now the header is three shots of tail left. And like if you look at the bio, I think this is a tailor. I think this is a tailor reference. We had the best day with you today. Maybe is that a reference? I think it has to be right to be clear. I'm not anti Taylor Swift. I think she's a fine musician. Yeah, I think she's a genius. Like, yeah, I think she's a legitimate genius and everything she touches turns to gold. And there's a reason for it. She's obviously incredible. Yeah, I just don't like I want you know what? I think I'm hot, too, because I'm coming off the I wrote about the way those are the lyrics to it. Those are those are lyrics from a Taylor Swift song titled The Best Day. Okay, I think I'm just a little hot coming off the Toy Story broadcast, too. Did you did you catch any of that? I was actually coaching third grade football during the Toy Story. Okay, good. Yeah, I threw that on and I was just like, what are they doing? And I get it. You're trying to get kids to watch football. But how about just allowing kids to watch football or to have kids play football and not to watch like a I mean, the technology was incredible. But it like it looked like a like a like Minecraft, you know, and like I just felt like I watch it with my son for a minute. And I was like, they're trying to just it's like cocoa melon. They're just trying to hypnotize them. So we we bang that thing fast. I mean, I just feel like that's like there are some people at the league office who don't have enough to do. And that's how things like that wind up coming to life. Like like fix, fix the problems. Like we're focused on Taylor Swift and the Toy Story broadcast, like like digital chains so that like chains don't break during the game. Grass fields like like like fix the actual problems with the games. My God. Anyway, twenty three twenty, the Chiefs beat the Jets. The Jets fall to one in three. The Chiefs are three and one. I think my takeaway from this game is the takeaway that everybody had, which was this was a feisty, very feisty Zach Wilson game. I think that Robert Sala, to me, win or lose, just earns so much credit because during the week he knew he was going to get demolished. And he said, you don't throw people away. You just don't throw people away. And I give him so much credit because honestly, this is job on the line stuff. And he stuck with Zach Wilson. He dug in. There was no sample size. And Zach played really well. I was very happy for them. And look, like I think that the biggest problem that Robert Sala had was like, can he continue to sell Zach Wilson to the locker room? Because the premise of that entire team, the construction of that team this year was we're going for it. Right. So there are guys in that locker room like Allen Lazard and Adrian Amos and Randall Cobb, guys that were like that are older vets that are there to chase the ring. And like guys like that aren't going to have patience. They don't care what this means for your franchise in 2025. They care about right now. And the younger guys in the roster are going to be worried about what's going to get them in a position to get paid. So it can be hard to sell a developing quarterback to a locker room. And I'll give Robert Sala credit for standing by Zach Wilson, because if he didn't do that, like it would have been impossible. It would have been impossible for Zach in that locker room. you And, know, it sort of made me think of something I said earlier in the day about how Josh Dobbs should get us to question everything about how we develop quarterbacks, how the NFL develops quarterbacks, how the NFL nurtures quarterbacks. Because, you know, you have this guy in Josh Dobbs who got what, six years to kind of learn away from the bright lights. And then because he was on different teams, because he had different experiences, because he was developed away from game action, because people invested in him, because he had a chance and people had patience with him. And, you know, every single movement of his wasn't, you know, litigated on a public level on a week to week basis. You know, he had a chance to kind of get better in the background. And now you have a guy who's so adaptable that he could be traded a week before the season and start and take maybe the worst roster in the league and have a competitive over the first month of the season. It really like to me, like looking at Josh Dobbs makes you question everything. And so if six years can do that for Josh Dobbs, why are we throwing guys out after two or three years? That's what I don't get about it. It's fair to make an assessment on a guy and say, like, he sucks now. But to say guys never going to be good, just ignore so much history. You know, like Alex Smith is a phenomenal example of it. Right. Like how many times was he given up on in San Francisco? Yeah. Like, oh, he can't play. But no one was looking at the fact that like he had five coordinators his first five years in the league. He had two head coaches. Everything was completely unstable around him. And then Jim Harbaugh gets there in 2011 says, no, I'm sticking with him. And he takes off and then he's in the league for another decade as a starter. You know, like it's just we have so many examples of the of why we shouldn't make definitive and declarative statements about young quarterbacks. And yet we do it over and over and over again. And like I do, I think like the intention of the Jets in the first place was we have to press the pause button with Zach Wilson. We may have wronged him by playing him too fast. Right. And by putting too much on him too early. And so the whole intention on bringing him back this year was to allow him the chance to do the Josh jobs and develop in the background for a year or two. And that got blown up. But just because that plan got blown up like that's not Zach Wilson's fault. That plan got blown up. It's not anybody's fault. So now you're going to just completely throw the kid out. Why? Because Aaron Rodgers got hurt. There's a lot of like really faulty logic that goes into the way that he's been talked about over the last couple of weeks, I think. I agree. I'm not just saying this because I wrote about it, but to not even, you know, I think we're in such a easy Twitter dunk society that when Zach Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett get paired up, everyone's just like, oh, this is going to be terrible. And without looking at any of the history of any of these guys. The AFC championship came with Blake, Blake Bortles. He got Ryan Nassib drafted out of Syracuse. I went to Syracuse. Do you know who was the quarter? The last quarterback drafted before Ryan Nassib, Donovan McNabb, Donovan McNabb. I was going to say I was going to say Troy Nunes. Like I think drafted as a quarterback. I think there was a couple of quarterbacks that turned into tight ends, but in literally broke all the school records with this guy. And then he got Kyle Wharton, I believe, to the doorstep of the playoffs. Yeah. Two MVPs with Aaron Rodgers after he was lost in the woods for a little while. The guy's good at what he does, you know, and we're seeing in Denver now, who knows? Make your own judgments about what happened there. But I think that this thing could work like, OK, yeah. The Jets are one in three, but their schedule softens up a little bit. They played a lot of their best defenses up front. You know, Zach Wilson is going to look bad against the Cowboys, but how many other people are going to look really bad against the Cowboys? Right. And now in the next few games, like they have the Broncos coming up. I mean, Zach Wilson could could legitimately put up 50 points against that team. The Eagles, who are really good defense giants, Jets, Giants before Halloween, which if he can handle the pressure. I think that's coming off a buy, too. So it's coming off a buy. You know what Wink Martindale is going to do. He does it well, but you know what he's going to do. And then the Chargers November six, the Raiders November 12th. You don't play a really good team. You play the Eagles in the bills in the next month and a half. Otherwise, you're good. Well, we're kind of like that's like and that was the whole logic behind this. And I think we talked about this last week. To me, the problem with going away from Zach Wilson, like in the whole in the first place, was a there's no better option out there right now. Right. And B, once you go away from him, you can't go back again. You know, so I think so. I think so. I knew that like it was if we bench him in consecutive years, we can't sell him to the locker room again.

"Free agency is upon us. Adam Schefter is here with the latest. Jimmy Garoppolo reached agreement with the lost Vegas raiders, our three year 67 and a half $1 million deal. Jesse Bates is signing with the Atlanta Falcons a four year $64 million deal. $60 million guaranteed for Juan Taylor, Michael blinch, she's got a 5 year 87 and a half $1 million deal. We've lost 50 he is off there working the sources. Patrick Peterson is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Aaron Rodgers watch continues. No more text being Adam Schefter wondering what's going on with Aaron Rodgers. Welcome to NFL live, presented by toro. NFL free agency in full swing. We're with you for all the breaking news this week. Lots to discuss. We begin with Adam Schefter as always. Let's start Adam with the top wide receiver off the board. Where's he going? Jacoby Myers is going to the Las Vegas Raiders Laura on a three year $33 million contract that includes $22 million guaranteed and that move essentially brings him into Las Vegas and unites him with Josh McDaniels, who knows with Jimmy Garoppolo for the Raiders are going to sign one three agency opens. They've made some moves together and Jacoby Myers now will be a Las Vegas raider once the new league year opens. And that also allowed the Raiders to go ahead and trade Darren Waller. Their elite tight end to the New York Giants for a third round pick in 2000 23. It's a hundredth overall selection that the Giants got from Kansas City in return for kadarius Tony. So the Giants essentially traded kadarius Tony for Darren Waller, the Raiders get back to third run pick. The Giants get a new tight end and a new weapon for Daniel Jones and the Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a one year deal with Rashad any. We will go in there on an incentive laden contract. We'll see how we perform coming off the injury, but they feel like they'll take a flyer on them, see how it works out. Remember miles Sanders, early as a free agent, we don't know whether he'll be back in Philadelphia so the eagles have gone ahead and added another talented running back in the interim. Michael Thomas reworks his contract today, a one year $10 million deal worth up to $50 million to stay in New Orleans. There were some questions here about what would happen in this future, but he got that figured out. He wanted to be there, working with Derek Carr, the new quarterback, and now that's official with that New York contract. And Al lazard is working with the New York just to see if they could figure out an agreement. There is other interest in our lazard he does have other offers out there. We'll see how that plays out over time, but it's a situation where you've got a case where they're working with the jets and Aaron Rodgers as people that they want to bring in there and we'll see whether or not that gets done. Obviously, I don't know one of the players that they want to get done in there. And the jets also obviously would have interest in Randall Cobb Mercedes Lewis if they can get a deal done with Aaron Rodgers. We'll see whether or not they can make that happen. That's still out there. There are issues to work through. They're trying to restructure a contract down Rogers, figure out a tray with Green Bay. So that still hangs in the balance without resolution, Laura. We'll continue to watch that and continue to follow those breadcrumbs at them. The elephant in the room, if you will. His name is Aaron Rodgers. We're all playing this waiting game to see what happens with Rogers and New York and for more we bring in Diana rossini with more perspective. What can you add to Adam's reporting on Rogers here? Well, you take a look at all these players that the New York Jets are talking to right now and they sound a lot like players Aaron Rodgers wants to have around her right guys that he's familiar with and you can add odo Beckham junior to that list that the New York Jets are just looking into right now, perhaps to make Aaron Rodgers happy. This deal is not done yet. This is not official yet. Yes, they're optimistic. Yes, it looks like it's leaning in that direction. But nothing is official until it's official and especially when you're doing with Aaron Rodgers who had come completed retirement, right? So we're at a point where we're just waiting for that official word, but the jets are doing everything they possibly can to continue to try to build this team through free agency and obviously with the draft coming up. But inside the building, I can tell you, they feel really good about this. They just want to get the ball over the goal line soon. Yeah, it feels like we're all trying to get there and we'll continue to work on that. Thanks to Diana for the latest there. And we'll keep our eye on Aaron Rodgers, but there's a lot more to get to today. We will carry on on this subject as we welcome in Dan orlowski with Adam, of course. And Marcus spears and Dan, there's a lot to go through there, okay? But what do you make of these requests from Rogers, whereas he's saying, essentially, bring all these guys in and then I'm good to go. It's felt that way for a couple of days that it was going to be the deal happens last, but the moves happen first. Hey, I want these pieces or these transactions if that happens, then I'm more likely to come. The Allen lazard one, you can make the case that the jets could have been interested in indifferent to Aaron Rodgers. Good player fits their scheme what they want to do. Talented, reliable, kind of slot big body receiver. Randall Cobb and Mercedes Lewis mean one thing that they were specifically requested by the quarterback, hey, I want these guys to be. And I get it. He's going somewhere brand new for the first time and what 15 plus years. He wants some of his buddies there with him. I think the reality too is this. He knows Aaron Rodgers knows the Jets have absolutely no choice but to do this. If you are the jets and you don't get Aaron Rodgers, you have two options. Throw everything you can at Lamar Jackson and see if you can get them away from Baltimore. My guess is what Baltimore would match whatever the jets could throw. Or move up to number three in the draft. Somehow, some way with the Arizona Cardinals because those are your two most realistic indoor like these options if Aaron Rodgers doesn't come, but I think it's already a done deal that he's going to. Yeah, I mean, just really fast. You think about what it would actually be like if they had to draft another quarterback. That's where it sits right now. You'll see that. They'll figure out some sort of veteran to pry loose to get something done with Lamar would be a guy that you could transition to. But I think everybody is operating right now as if they're hopeful and optimistic. This Aaron Rodgers deal will get worked out and figure it out. It is not done. And again, they have to get through a number of issues. But the signs are encouraging. There is some optimism within the organization. But they're going to have to figure out a tray with Green Bay. That is not a given. That is not an easy thing to do because the two franchises are going to have diametrically opposed ideas of the value that Aaron Rodgers is worth. You got to restructure his contract and see again how long he wants to play in New York one year, two years. What are you doing with that contract? Then you got to go make moves for Aaron Rodgers. So there are a whole host of things that have to get done before this happens. I think there are some jet fans who were just thinking, oh, snap. We're getting a decision. A lot more complicated. And I think it's a lot more layered and nuanced than just a simple, oh yes, I'm playing for the jets and the Jets have found their quarterback. You know what? I'm about to do something that I haven't done ever. I don't think when in regards to Aaron Rodgers. And I'm gonna give him some, yeah, that's the number one I did that for the first time this morning. Here's the thing. There's something smells good in here. I gotta give, because I can't sit here at this dish as a player and talk about player empowerment and not applaud what Aaron Rodgers is trying to. Okay. Like, seriously, like it would be an oxymoron for me to come on and say, well, why the hell would he want Mercedes Lewis and Randall Cobb? But do you made a great point? Like some familiarity going into a new situation after all of that time. And looking out for other guys. The dynamic of the NFL and locker rooms are. All guys ain't gonna like the guy. Right. And some guys are gonna be his friend to the end and they gonna ride with him. So I gotta give him, I gotta applaud him for trying to do that. It's a little bit of that like those guys can also teach exactly to a lot of the youth and everybody at home. This happens in the NFL where teams, I was a part of a veteran presence for the Baltimore Ravens because they were ushering in a lot of young defensive linemen. It could be that case, and obviously you want to get some production out of those guys. But I'm gonna get a man credit for trying to get these guys to come to New York with him. If nothing else, if you're one of the guys that Aaron Rodgers has said, I want you to come with me. Yeah, you're probably feeling good about yourself. And that was really unusual out of you, but we like it. Date down.

"Involved and no final decision, but the jets are trying to reunite lazard and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. And perhaps Aaron Rodgers. But that's according to Adam Schefter. Age 7 7 three DP show email address DP Dan Patrick dot com. Twitter handle at BP show. Pauly with a packers question for the room. It is a two part question there. Okay. Let's say Aaron Rodgers does go to the jets and the packers are due some trades, some draft picks as compensation. If you're the packers, would you ask for Zach Wilson the quarterback to be thrown in the trade package as a throw in? No. Or would if you're the jets, would you offer it to get him off your books? And get that problem out of your, 'cause he's got a guaranteed contract. Well, he might be able to learn something. I think he's got to learn maturity. I don't know if you're going to learn that from Aaron Rodgers, but he needs to learn how to be a professional. I don't want to put him in the mix with Jordan love. Right. I want Jordan love to start clean and now it's your team. I don't want Zach Wilson trying to look over his shoulder. Something, yeah, I don't want that. But do I want to throw him in? I would keep him. I think he's got talent. I think that's one of those one and done type quarterbacks that we've seen. They have one great year in college, and then you go, that's our guy. I got to see a larger sample size at that position than one year. And we've seen that before. These guys come in and they're like, man, that guy's great. Wait, was he even going to start this year? We saw that at BYU. We've seen it at TCU recently, where you're like, is that guy, you know, he wasn't even going to start, then all of a sudden he becomes a Heisman finalist. Zach Wilson. It wasn't going to start. Then he does start and has an unbelievable year. And then you're like, okay, that's the guy we're going to take. And so now you start to look at these guys. Trey Lance. He had one great year, unbelievable year. Didn't throw an interception. National champs. That's not enough. You can see that there's talent there. I got to see you do it. I'll go back to Sam darnold, who is now with the forty-niners, by the way. Sam darnold, if he left the previous year, then I think people would have been like, oh my God, that guy can't miss.

"Kerrigan, Bloomberg radio. Friday's jobs report was seen by some as being a real good sign for the economy. Anastasia omarosa was chief investment officer at I capital and she says the jobs report is consistent with a soft landing for the economy. We're seeing phenomenal job creation. We're seeing job openings that are still at 11 million. And as a result, these layoffs are not resulting in higher unemployment numbers. So as long as consumers, a game fully employed, that's going to prop up the economy. 517,000 jobs many more than forecasts were added in January and the unemployment rate ticked down to 3.4%. All right, so Americans are ragging up a record amount of credit card debt. Bloomberg's and mos two has those details. A new report from TransUnion puts the total at $930 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022. That's an 18 and a half percent jump from the prior year. The average credit card balance rose to just over $5800 as consumers increasingly rely on plastic to pay for food and rent. And most do Bloomberg radio. Global news powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in over 120 countries. I'm Susanna Palmer. This is Bloomberg. This is masters in business with Barry Reynolds on Bloomberg radio. I'm Barry holtz, you're listening to masters and business on Bloomberg radio, my extra special guest this week is William cohan. He is the M and a banker and author who has written such bestselling books as money and power how Goldman Sachs came to rule the world. House of Cards, a tale of hubris and wretched excess on Wall Street, the last tycoons, the secret history of lazard fres and company, his newest book, power failure, the rise and fall of an American icon, is all about the rich and detailed history of General Electric, William cohan, welcome back to Bloomberg. Thank you, Barry. It's great to be here. So let's talk a little bit about your career, which began as a reporter, went into an M and a banking and then went back to writing. You start writing for the rally times, tell us a little bit about what you were doing there. I was doing something I probably should never have been allowed to do, which was write about public education in wake county, which was fine, I had just graduated from Columbia school of journalism, getting masters and journalism. And I had done my thesis on public schools in central Harlem in the central Harlem school district. I went to one of the best schools in the district in one of the worst schools in the district and just sat there for like 6 weeks and tried to absorb what was going on and no one had ever done that. I had to get special permission from the board of education in Brooklyn back when they still had that to do that, but and then I went to Raleigh and covered public schools in Raleigh, but I'd never been to a public school in my life, so other than sitting in the classrooms in central Harlem. So it was great, but it was like anything a total learning experience. So you end up becoming an investment banker, you work at places like lazard, freres, and Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan tell us a little bit about your banking background. What did you do? What sort of deals? By the way, this wasn't like I'm going to try this for 6 months and go back to writing. You did this for 17 years. Yeah, and I actually started out of business school and when it got back to Columbia. So I graduated from business school in 1987 and went to G capital for two years financing leveraged buyouts, and I also spent a year there working for the chief credit officer at G capital learning, all the different business lines at GE capital. And then I went to lazard and so let's stay with GE capital for a minute because they're going to loom large later. Plenty relevant. In the 80s, they were really a financial arm of GE in a way to facilitate its client base. It was seems like in the 90s it evolved into something else. When you were there, was it a financial engineering firm? Or was it a more traditional finance firm? By the time I was there, it had started in the depression. Financing customers purchase of GE appliances, right? Because credit was hard to come by during those years. Everybody General Motors had a credit arm. Manufacturers. GE had a benefit over other companies in that regard because they had a triple-A credit rating. So they were able to borrow very cheap and then lend out expensively and they were able to arbitrage that credit rating, which of course Jack Welch did in spades. And by the time I got there, Jack had been CEO for 6 years and he was well into turning G capital into a financial powerhouse. So by the time I got there, it was well beyond just financing customer acquisitions of appliances. I mean, we were actually, I probably shouldn't have been doing it because I had been a journalist covering public schools and nothing about leveraged buyouts, but I was financing leverage by I was a G capital. And that was one of 18 or 20 business lines that the business was in. And just making huge profits, arbitraging that credit rating. So you go from GE capital to lazard next, tell us about lazard. Well, lazard couldn't have been more different than GE. Old school classic partnership managing risk very different headspace. Oh, totally. Totally. I mean, I'd always been fascinated by lazard because I had read Carrie Reich's

"Look, the packers end up pulling this one out in overtime. This is what was kind of cool. Especially if you're a packers fan and your team is one, you've just been kind of waiting for like a month now for this team to get some kind of break. Some kind of one, get a couple bounces, and two, just some sort of breakthrough performance. You got that from Christian Watson. You got that from a couple of turnovers on sort of miscommunications among dak Prescott and intended receivers. And you end up eating a really good team. Yeah. I thought when that ball was in the air, the first deep ball to Christian Christian Watson. I thought this is the season right here. Really? And you know, if they come down with this thing, if he scores, I think this team finally gets some juice and here we go. And that ended up being the case to the point where when he scored his third touchdown, there were like three guys open on that play and there were two people on Christian Watson. So, you know, if this is where we're at now, where you're starting to draw some double teams, Al lazard can kind of go back to doing Alma's art stuff. You're cooking with gasoline here, I think. Yep. And Watson almost had another long one. You know, the throws are there for Aaron Rodgers. Lazard, the long RPO catch and run in overtime. That's what Allen was our does. Just encouraging stuff. It's still going to be a struggle. There's still, I think it's a year away from any sort of like true breakthrough, but you just got some answers in this game. And like I said, you just got a couple of breaks along the way. Last week in Detroit, that's a game they're probably in most scenarios leading 17 nothing. Instead of having it scoreless midway through the second quarter, you just get a couple of weird turnovers and that's the way it goes. But encouraging stuff and stylistically a ton of ton of stuff on the ground, that's what they're going to be. They're not going to be airing it out. It's not going to be Aaron thrown for 400 yards. It's going to be sort of a patchwork passing game and hopefully a foundational run game here. Yeah, Aaron Jones, I thought, a little bit of a bounce back performance. And I think the packers are going to kind of, whatever's going on with AJ Dylan, I think, and that I think is a big part of the story. I think that they're just, it's got to be a hot hand approach at this point. It's like, whoever's going to come in there and just start smashing people is who's going to get the ball and we really don't care anymore. I think they probably like the idea of AJ Dylan a lot more and what he represented.

"You look at Evercore lazard, but again, I mean, we're talking about JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs and Citigroup and all of that alike. And I think what's notable for Jeffries is perhaps they've been flying under that radar for a little bit, but when you kind of stack them up where their core business is really that advisory business that M and a advisory business, they actually rank larger than Citigroup now by fees, consensus expects them to exceed Bank of America this year, so really kind of gaining that prowess in that space. One of the businesses that you hear from the larger diversified of mesa banks that they really like is that the private wealth management business, it's low capital, steady fee business is Jeffrey's in that at all. No, so they are not. So they're, again, really focused solely on that investment banking business, both the fees as well as the trading. I think, look, there's obviously benefits to having that larger wealth platform. You see the successes at Morgan Stanley at UBS. You see that's kind of the piece and the portion that Credit Suisse is really focused on keeping and growing while shrinking that investment bank, which again we see that as an opportunity for Jeffrey's going forward, but I think Jeffries is really focused in doing what it does well. And not necessarily trying to be everything for everyone. Which is so tempting for these guys to always go into wealth management. I feel like everyone like Goldman trying to do that too. It really ramped that up. Like that's attempting feel. Before we let you go, how are they dealing with the expenses? How are they managing expenses right now? Yeah, so I guess as I noted earlier, I mean, the biggest, most variable cost that we can look at in this kind of environment is that compensation expense. So the cost for talent. So we've seen revenue come down about 30 or 35% so far this year. You've seen compensation expense come down similarly. So they're managing that expense well, which is fairly notable, considering how much talent that they've hired over the past few years, which can obviously put upward pressure on that comp ratio. But being able to manage that in a period where activity is not so great is incredibly important. And to be able to retain that talent going forward because eventually capital markets will open back up and you've got to have that work for us. You got to have that talent to serve your clients. All right, good stuff. Neil really appreciate it. That's Neil sips Bloomberg intelligence. Thanks, analyst. All right, coming up on the program, how underinvestment in oil and

Another up week for the S&P 500 Index a fourth straight week of gains, the longest such run since November, stocks ended the week on solid footing with traders assessing whether an inflation slowdown could soon make the Federal Reserve reduce the pace of its most aggressive tightening campaign in decades. Wrong temple is co head of multi asset at lazard asset management. I do still believe it's bear market rally, I mean, I could always be proven wrong. We always have that risk. But when I look at it, I think we need to wait for data next month. I expect CPI to come down again. I'm very interested to see the job numbers. They're mixed signals in the job market. Lazard's Ron temple, San Francisco fed president Mary Daly says the cooler inflation reading for July is welcome news, but the fight against fast price growth is far from over. So when I'm balancing the risks, I'm really balancing how quickly can we bring inflation down without tipping the labor market over and that's why 50 basis points makes sense to me right now. San Francisco fed president Mary Daly speaking with Bloomberg's Kathleen Hayes, and at clear harbor asset management, CEO Aaron kennan says the fed isn't done raising rates. "Offense investing in things like green steel And the like Do investors have to get used to lower returns as a practical matter No I don't think so and certainly not on a risk adjusted basis One of the things now for a moment David I'm going to speak about defense Unfortunately which is one thing investors increasingly will need to do is think about terminal value Think about where certain assets are going to lose value and potentially lose value quite rapidly because they're not decarbonizing fast enough or they're just not suited for a low and zero carbon economy You referenced part of the energy sector fossil fuels You know there's elements of that which will not be there Or certainly it can't be there if we're going to get to where we need to go So investors need to look at that On the offensive side just a range of a range of opportunities as I say looking into I'll put it this way in terms of an overall framework first which and this is something that will become increasingly common to think about which is what's a company's emissions today not just their own emissions from their operations but also from their suppliers and from those people who use the product So the most complex example really is the auto industry huge range of suppliers from around the world And of course when we drive around in our cars we're burning fossil fuels and there's emissions So what are their emissions today across that whole value chain And where are they going tomorrow That's former Bank of England governor Mark Carney Coming up lazard CEO Ken Jacobs describes how his business is changing because of ESG That's next this is Wall Street week.

Mom yeah so zach feigns injury and she's like at once again i've defeated mutai defended and like nardo runs away anzacs just like That was really weird and then just like all right back to work. You walk into the central part of the temple and as you walk in. There's some like breath or like air escaping from the ceiling and these two giant monsters fall down. Anzac like Shit you must be anti shandra monsters. I've been hearing about the killing the first time. So go ahead and ratchet that bonus death counter up to one boot. Oh flock if you feel like this. How do we feel about that day. Oh i didn't fucking. He'll before i walked in. I should have healed think. You're getting double teamed. Usually am i. I'm at zero. Hp but it's letting me modulate yeah. Multiple happens at least you got a power surge all first game over so we need a zach counter. I guess reignited that fight and did a lot better the summer thing. What do you think got pretty much. Crushed it yeah so crush that and then that kinda gets the word from ngo that. There's five minutes until detonation. So get out zack. Guard which we've seen a couple times. Now that zack is really bad about dropping his garden. Losing his focus especially post combat. He always thinks like i did it. Like walkaway as he walks away. Just a giant fucking monster falls from the ceiling. Hey but he beats beats it but then he drops his guard but then he drops his guard again and is almost like by this giant monster. I don't know how to a troll. Kind of thing burger ogre. Ogre is a grade and as he's about to kind of just faces last he's pinned up against the wall about to get just absolutely cleaved by a giant maze. You see a line kinda. You should do better. I wanted to do better but let me. That's one more you will me. You lost your focus. Yeah oh sorry if your sword got anywhere terrorist on it. You're a little more important than my sword but just a little bit cool guy what i call a guy. I really like angie also fire angels. Yeah so we both out with angel- and we meet up with director. Lazard was our. It's like hey you did a great job. Think you're performing at the level of class to keep it up and zack's just like he doesn't say anything that you can just like feel that palpable like like we have your year end review at work. And they're like yeah. You're performing right across the board. And it's like while i was having i thought i was doing more than performing. But okay all right. Very relatable et. Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm not used to being on his voice are you at. I think it is okay. You didn't have to come. Oh i will to this. Operation will bring an end to the war. "All this training assignments like they're hanging out to dry. You must be pretty busy with everyone. Off-base wait haven't you hurt. There's been a mass. Desertion soldier appears one of the first deserted. He took a bunch of seconds and thirds them to nobody knows way left or what. He's up to this mass desertions. There is no way trainings on hold heads up a first zack new assignment. Wou- family some real action. This will be your show. Yes report to director. Lazard will give you the details. Lazard is interesting. he's kind of just. He seems very bookish to me like not really soldier like heidegger. I could see being general when he's the head of the charlotte whatever peacekeeping but lazard is more intelligent than heidegger. Not really a big reach there. But it's you know it was something that i noticed. He's got glasses. You can tell exactly. Yeah classic anime roles zach. It's good to finally meet face to face lazard director of soldier. Hey can i interest you in a third beautiful man on the beautiful men. This lizard is cool. I like him so far. I have a bad feeling about him. But i like him a bad feeling. Because you like him. You know people you like are inevitably going to become evil. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Basically he's also schinder person. Like i have a bad feeling about ngo and zach even at this point so we walk into lizards room. Lazard gives us kind of the. Hey what's going on of the game. And so he introduces us to the character of genesis soldier. First-class genesis month ago went missing during a mission in blue tie. This not a clue. Mission is currently stuck in limbo. That's why we've decided to send you to yes. This war has gone on long enough so the main thrust of what is going on here is that wants to mine the wto region for moco and doesn't want them to do that. That's fair. I mean this is literally like like you cannot get any more realistic and cut and dried than country or an organization and being like. Hey we want your natural resources in that country being like now and that the bigger country being like won- gonna come take them so we have this scene with anjil cloud and lazard and then of course kuntzel in the background being being baller where cloud said cloud earlier. I'm not sure if. I say cloud at any point i mean zach listener lost. There is actually cloudy. Cloud comes into and what she means cloud. Maybe we'll see so in jail reveals that he's put in zach's name as a recommendation for first class and that they have a mission and this mission is to go to and basically take it out at this point. They're sending in a crack team. It's going to be just basically zach. Angel- lazard himself to roll in and clean up and also clean up the deserters so this is a big chance to become first class the is going to be watching and Zaks pretty amped about it. He's he's very emotive which is fun. Who's very like ask. The little zach emoji. Discarded makes a lot more sense in his personality and like sense. Actually i've recommended you for i. Don't make me regret this. So that's all you secret. Zach might be my new favorite compilation there. It is really enjoying really really enjoying zach. If you can tell gills really cool to so eventually you being in. Woo tie with Ngo so you're on this little trail up to tie and ngos and you have a conversation so way to put it the dumb apple. Yeah do you know what a dumb apple is and zach like oh and ngos just like that's why you're not first class and its acts like what is it like. Why don't you tell me like run off together or just waiting to hear what that's about. I love their relationship. It's a lot of ngo saying something and just walking away like what. Why what it's very good. It's really good. I really like angela. Zack they're very fun together. The director is watching from somewhere. Right i have to make a good impression zach. Do you know about dumb apples. How now how about these apple know. What does that unbelievable. How can you not know about dumb apples. You stupid head. "You know, he's He's fun to be around, and unfortunately got these terrible plexi glass things between us, but well, you know, we've had some good conversations over the last couple years. And Bronson is one of those camp guys who kind of catches your eye. He is such a positive guy. I mean, I think he Every second the day. It seems like as a smile on its face, and I just love highlighting those guys because they're not always going to get the most pub, But they're they're the type of glue guys for The the beginning of a foundation of culture that are so important in camp settings where you can lean on a guy like Bronson, whether you tell them or not, which probably won't but just like being able to look over him, and like just kind of tap into that happiness that he has, on a daily basis is Just a special thing to do. I know guys are looking at me for you know, energy or enthusiasm or resolve or whatever it might be, and it's nice to have You know, guys like that You can draw your own inspiration from and I just feel like it's important to, you know, treat those guys as if they are the Davante Adams of the team because That that to me, is what true leadership is all about Aaron Rodgers on leadership in joining us, So, Erin, if somebody listening right now is thinking, And I'm one of these people. But if somebody is thinking, you know, man, I want some of what Aaron has in terms of that peace of mind and that ability to remain present. Is there a book or two or a tactic? That's been especially helpful for you, especially when things are challenging. Yeah, I think there's a lot of different things you can do. I mean, I I enjoy going to Barnes and noble or local bookstore and and going in some of those self help sections and seeing what some of the new books are. That's not a terrible place to start for me. I've been meditating for about a decade with regularity now. And it wasn't until this offseason did. I came upon transcendental meditation, and I think the reason I mentioned this is because for a long time in my meditations have struggled with the idea of a quiet mind. And almost having some some negative self talk If I couldn't quiet my mind in certain situations, what I learned in TM Is Just a reminder that you have 50 to 70,000 thoughts on a daily basis. So instead of trying to clear your mind if you can't being, you know, down on yourself for nuts. Being able to meditate the right way. We you know, in that. Practice. You embrace the the the thoughts you embrace. The images in your mind and the more do you embrace those, the more they actually dissolve and you're able to to relax in the meditation even more so, So, learning TM this offseason been a really important part of continue to call my mind and And my heart rate in moments where I need clarity or moments of heightened You know, testosterone or whatever might be where I need to Just relax a little bit and calm down. So researching ideas of meditation, I think is a really good place to start. We don't take time. I think in our daily lives to just pause and Do nothing. Let's look at your phone or maybe binge, the TV show. There's we, me. I would just advise to embrace the silence a little bit more and and to help turn your brain off. It doesn't have to be trans mental meditation or even You know some other, you know, fed meditation, fat. It can just be, you know, listening to an instrumental song or reading a book or doing something where you're You know, enjoying the silence? Uh, which I don't think many people do on a daily basis. Appreciate that. Aaron Rodgers joining us. I can keep that up. I could have that conversation about life and mind set and never get the football. But before I let you go, why don't we talk a little bit of football? So you've got to the NFC championship game each of the last two seasons. Erin, How does this current team in your mind compared to the two that have come before it? Well, it's different for sure. You know, we have a new defensive coordinator. Um, I think you're going to see different players having opportunities and maybe having in the last couple years based on the scheme that That they're playing offensively. It's a deep receiver room, which we've had some some good ones over the years. Uh, this one is One of the best that we've had. It helps a lot having Randall Cobb come back, giving you legit slot player. But I think if you look at this camp compared to last camp Marquis about is canceling and Alan Lazard. I've really had fantastic camps now. Last year, they were in the top four for sure during training camp. Like I told quiz and lunch the other day, I said he's in the we don't worry about you anymore category with him and Davante Adams, where it's like they Is in a league of his own. But Marquis has become such professional. With his practice habits. Just give him so much credit for really, truly becoming a pro and mastering his craft. I'm very, very proud of him. Allen's artists had a fantastic camp. And I say that Jim was interesting to me about both. Those guys is Over the last couple years. I've seen more growth in them off the field. I'm talking about habits and mindsets and meditation and the things they're thinking about. I mean, Marquis hit me up and First aid camp. He said. Hey, uh, I want to start reading more. Can you give me some books and like, yes, the best thing you can ask me do so I went to you know Barnes and Noble and got him some little starter pack that I thought was pretty good. But it's the way that they've approached their off the field training, not just physically, but mentally that allows them to be so calm and composed and comfortable on the field. I'm just so so proud of those two guys. Obviously, I love having Randall back, and um and the young kid from from claims in, um Ari has done a nice job, but I really like those those receivers that we get Aaron Rodgers joining me for a few more moments in terms of device a few weeks back you and he both happen to post The same image from the last dance in your instagram stories. Erin, Are you approaching this like it might be your last season in Green Bay. What is your approach? Yeah, I definitely am. But I did last year to Jim. Um I really felt like Was looking for some sort of sign that it wouldn't be my last season. Ingrained bay after, um You know, after the draft I felt great about the way I played. Didn't feel like there was any, uh, kind of commitment past the 2021 season. So obviously went to the whole op season and I've talked at length about that, but I think in order for me mentally to wrap my head around this season, the journey and the focus is going to take. I feel like I have to have that perspective. And this isn't some You know, ultimatum or Major statement I'm making It's just the perspective that I need personally to to put myself in the best frame of mind to be able to lead the right way, because I think With any great journey you have to have. Gratitude. For the moments that make the journey special, and some of those moments are tied into the uniqueness of Green bed uniqueness of being at 17th Year pro and the opportunities that that presents from a leadership standpoint. So I really feel like that puts me in the best friend of mine if I focus on how special this year is with no guarantees after next year. And you know, I did last year with and and obviously a lot of success, And that's what I'll be doing this year again, sir and I got about 90 seconds. I want to ask you really quickly. Jordan Love missed last week with our right shoulder injury He's talked about your relationship is quote Kind of like the master and the PATA one kind of thing. Curious. How would you describe that relationship? Yoda and Luke Skywalker. There you go. No. There you go. It seems more like Starsky and Hutch sometimes, but um, but it's been it's been good..

"Go to J. R in Anchorage, Alaska. Next up on CBS Sports Radio J R. Go ahead. Hey, thank you so much like, Listen, you definitely hit it on the mail. That is the reason when you're talking about what was going to be like in the room and in the In the locker room. That's the reason why I'm saying they're gonna trade Aaron Rodgers. I say this with certainty, because I think there's a facade there. There's attention there from what we're seeing. When the locker room with Roger's Greg Jennings spoke about it to Michael. Cindy talked about it. Randall Cobb has alluded to it. And I think that rounders is doing more damage building. Let me ask you a question. You think the locker room doesn't like Aaron Rodgers? I think the Aaron Rodgers as a whole is creating some sort of tension in there in the locker room. I agree on that. And here's why, Jerry, I'm gonna let you finish. Here's why I vehemently disagree with that all throughout the season, We praised Aaron Rodgers for how he handled this and the only time there's been drama Here is when Aaron Rodgers lost that now, all the sudden because of how we handle the post game press conference, I thought was an overreaction. Now they have to trade him. I think the guys in the locker room realized his importance. I don't think they're upset with him. What can I get? Can I add onto this? Them, Um Looking at the game. We're always talking. We're talking about Matt Lafleur making these calls and these decisions now you mentioned the fact that Aaron Rodgers himself didn't make some big plays, but they were dropped balls all all across. But I think that is to blame. Partly or mostly, is Aaron Rodgers because in the beginning of the game, we look at those first times that were in the red zone. He was just going for de Monte Adams and somehow not distributing the boss. Draw the players. Making them feel left out. And then at the end, they he was throwing the ball in, and they were. They were dropping it here and there, but If you have this mentality that he's just going to go for Davante Adams and you're just playing, um, you know, taking fake routes or just playing your role. It changes your whole concept. You're not prepared for the game, and you're not said because That's what that's all. I'm trying to say that I appreciate it. I think we're reaching here. Because, and Rogers couldn't move the ball on those two drives, or even when he got the Reds on the offense stalled. That now all the sudden the locker room isn't healthy. The gala Lazard loves and Roger. Think NVs loves Aaron Rodgers. I think Robert Onion who hate to say being nobody, but probably would be a nobody with that are Rogers. I think they all love him. I think a lot of people were overreacting. Any time something happens. It's the end all be all. Keep them trade him. Gotta have an opinion. I think you keep him. The guy just came off Vpc. So I think I want us to probably get a sitter and tell you I do. What's the benefit to trade him or not to get three first round picks and Vernon Jordan love on the field, and if he's not ready, what happens if you're in his confidence? I think you wait. And then Yeah. You really do believe in love? Then let's see where we are next offseason. I don't believe the trade package should be that much of a difference Mark in Sherman Oaks will get you on the other side. We'll get the closing bell in as well. We'll update You also on the poll question results, too, but first up with later CBS Sports Ready Update. We get to Bob useless. See me? Yes. Sports sports flag. Exact. "Get in the zone. AutoZone, the Buccaneers just punted. Radios thrown a touchdown pass seven. Nothin bucks. Green Bay will be at 10 after the punch. First in 10, Rogers is squinting into the sun in the gun. 1st and 10 at the snap takes the head up. Those passed laterally caught on the five by the tight end, Tommy in quickly grabbed by two takes them on his shoulder to the far sideline and out of bounds carries him like a mule. About 12 and picks up to on that lateral throw to the far side by Rogers. Huge part of the Packers game is the R P O almost every run. They have has a pass option to it that they're just pulled it quick screen to the tight end. But now this, can't we missed him his block on the outside or would have been a much bigger game second down from the Packers, 12 shotgun snap, the Rogers left tackle, buckle was hit from behind him. We go check for a second time back at the five set by Jason Pierre Paul jumped on his back and wrote him down loss of seven on the play the second set given up by the Green Bay offensive line back to the Green Bay five in a matchup to watch all day long. No couple weeks ago, David Bachtiar e one of the best left tackles in the business. Suffered that knee injury. And now Billy Turner in that spot against Jpp be protected. Aaron Rodgers blindside didn't do it very well. Right there. Now. Rogers will be in the gun five yards away from his center, but he is standing in the end zone to our left. Swimming into the sun. Third down 15 Rogers in the gun looks into six defensive backs belt high shotgun snap. Got it rolls to the near side rolls to the sideline at the goal line goes down the sideline, leaping to any catch at the 29 on the sideline by his receiver Lazard right in front of his coach, right in front of his bench below us here, 28 of Green Bay and on 3rd and 15, Kurt Warner. Packers get a completion of 23 from Rogers and a first down to their 28. That was just an interesting play. They roll to the right hand side. They have three receivers over there at three different levels. Nice job by the receiver to push up the field and come back right down the sideline and a great throw by Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is under center from his Green Bay 28. Moving left to right, not the snap, drops back and throws a quick lateral pass by Adams 30 step on his way. 35 579 40 runs up the sideline ones on a real estate of the 43 Green Bay runs right into the Tampa Bay sideline. Across the way. Adam's a catch around 15 a packer first down to the 43. Another one of those are pose. They just put Davante Adams outside in a stack position and so tough Press because he's so quick off the line. So if you play.

"To your teammates about being a little hotheaded. That time. Elton Jenkins had gotten the better of Aaron Donald during his pass rush attempt on Darrin Donald did not like that very much. And with the rib injury, the protective wrap that he is wearing on those ribs from last week, but he's out there, he said all week. I'm not missing this. 15 yard penalty moves the ball to the Rams. 21 works first down and 10 for Green Bay. Jones is the single back motion from Mazar from right to left. Boss played, Jones started left. Cut back to the right and up the right. Has she goes to the 17 yard line? That's a four yard game. For Aaron Jones and brings up second down and six with 14 20 until halftime. Okay, second time for the Packers that there in the Red zone last time, a lot of passes down here couldn't get it into the end zone couldn't make the completion. Let's see what they tried to big mass substitution. The Ram right now. Three guys off three guys back on. They were best in the league. This year, They scored touchdowns in an 80% clip in the red zone at first gold before in himself for a field goal on their first possession. Second six at 17 Yard Line. Four receivers time emotion into the slot right side to the other side. Shotgun snap comes in Helmand. Hi quick Toss. It's called by Lazard Potanin and struggles his way to the nine yard line words first and goal for Green Bay eight yard pick up on the plate. Alan Lazard, the undrafted receiver out of Iowa State of 33 catches of the year. You know, I remember a year ago when I was doing the preseason television for the Green Bay Packers and watching those are kind of progress. And he became the guy that you're thinking What? I hope they don't cut him. Because he's kind of like the eight died, and he moved up to the seventh. And he just kept moving up and up and up and has really found a niche for himself In this offense. Three receivers left to the line. Davante Adams. What? 14 Red Zone touchdown catches, motioning to the slot left shotgun snap. Give us two. Jones starts left cuts right and Jones down to the seven yard to yard pick up. Second and goal in a 33 ball game Packers knocking on the door trying to regain the lead, their 13th play the drive coming up on the Packers ability to just line up the offensive line real close in the line of scrimmage. And then even substitute. So now they're substituting. And making sure that you don't have 12. They almost had 12 Aaron Rodgers backed away from the huddle and let that 12 guy go out a seven minute drive and counting is a lineup second goal. 263 receivers left of the line running back Jamal Williams. Adam's motioning from slot left to slot right shotgun snap to Rodgers gives to William starts still left self fights his way towards the one that is down at the one of five yard game third and goal for Green. Hey, there is so much attention being paid to the body Adams that like I mentioned when you get down this close to the goal line, no safeties or not, is deep. Will these safeties they're still backing up. All eyes are on the body. Adam's until the snap and then Aaron Rodgers hands the ball off and you're almost in the end zone. Third and goal at the one. Rogers Has Williams to his right is he lines up in a shotgun on the left hash three receivers to the right. Adam's in motion now from right to left. 33 ballgames third and goal on the one. Adam's motioning back from left to right. Rogers throws across Adam's hasn't backs into the end zone Touchdown Rogers to Adam's, they hook up again. They did it 18 times in the season and now once in the postseason for a 93 pack early, Okay, let me see if I can aptly described this. You remember those old pinball machines as the ball's coming down? And it's getting bounced around. So devoted to Adam is on the right side. He goes in motion slowly to the left side. Then he comes back kind of slow toward Aaron Rodgers. And once he gets there, Rogers, he goes into a four all out sprint will this whole time On the other side, Jalen Ramsey has been shadowing him. But Jalen Ramsey has to run around the linebackers around the Safeties, So he's like the pinball and he was behind about the Adams by a couple of strides in any busted everybody on his old team. You guys were in my way. You gotta move on my way when I'm trying to cover him. No way to cover the monster Adams at close to the gold ones, Sometimes you the pinball. Sometimes you're the flipper. In this case, the Packers get the pin ball into the end zone. 10 3 lead. This is Western once coverage of the NFL playoffs. When you try the new tempera Pedic breeze, you'll feel how it helps.

"Year's presidential election. As I am sure you've heard It's It's also also one one of of the the key key states states for for the the fracking fracking industry industry up up and and down down the the ballot. ballot. As As I'm I'm sure sure you you have have also also heard heard Fracking Fracking for for gas gas has has long long been been thought thought of of as as a a bridge to get us to wherever the cost of wind and solar Has made those renewables as cheap as gas and his marketplaces. Scott Song reports. A couple of new studies suggest that time may already be here. It just gets cheaper and cheaper to make solar panels and wind turbines, says analyst Marlene Metical at Deloitte. The actual cost of the components are declining, but also the efficiency. Of the technology is increasing, so the wind turbines are now becoming larger and larger, and as a result, solar and wind are now the cheapest ways to add power generation in most of the world, says a report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Another report from the investment bank, Lazard says building and maintaining the solar or wind farm costs as much as keeping an existing gas plant running, all of which threatens the market for natural gas. Nico Sappho said. The Center for Strategic and International Studies, says pressure's mounting for folks in the gas business. This may be an industry that could be shrinking in 10 15 20 years so How can I be sure that my project is the one that survives? So it puts you in that mindset rather than a mindset where everything is growing their space for everyone. A typical natural gas power plant last 20 years or so bye, then wind and solar will be thriving. So some gas plants will have to shut down early, predicts Sue Tierney at the analysis group consultancy. You would expect to see disclosure statements by companies that there will be much slower utilization rates or a truncated life that's being discussed in a lot of places. Because of that, Tierney thinks a lot of money invested in the natural gas business won't be made back. I'm Scott Tongue for

Tyler Gibbs and Jack Irving of Toyota Racing Development's TD2 driver development program

"Now. Let's get to part two of our conversation with Tyler Gibbs and Jack Irving just this I want to give you guys a chance to put some names with some faces here people who are listening. We've mentioned Christopher Bell. You guys mentioned Harris and Burton. I was reading a motorsports analytics story today in which Jack was quoted very highly on Chandler. Smith just wanted to give you a chance to tell us a little about. Who'S IN THE LINEUP? Right now and we're the names. We should be watching it from the Toyota racing development driver program. So it's funny. I think we have some remarkable kids coming up of all different ages all different ranges But it's still development like Chandler. Smith is is a gifted driver. I mean in in we've been with Chandler for three or four years i. I don't remember how long it's been a few years. He's been fantastic. He's always been a strong late model. Racer Kinda in his family team was was quite gifted enabled to kind of compete at a very young age with some very high level guys in racing and then he transferred that into Arca adventuring end and has been fantastic and the more he matures the better. He gets Which is really exciting. He's similar to like a younger Jones in that respect where he's young and been around it and he seemed so much older in a car and so much more mature in so that is translated into the truck races he ran last year and and I have some pretty high expectations of him as he does of themselves but he's definitely one of our up and comers that is on the young side mean seventeen and still developing and then obviously there's the Raphael Lazard the neckaces that we've been with for quite a while and I think most people know of Kazan truck races now. That were pretty happy about. And then there's there's lots of kids that we actively engage with and develop in all different areas were lucky not geographically focused either because we have teams all over the place and that's helped us engage with maybe some kids we probably wouldn't necessarily always get access to so there's some good kids in California. There's kids racing for Keith in Indiana. There's just there's just a lot of strong drivers out there the thing that's so interesting though. Is that their kids and kids. You never know what's going to happen so it's still development. I mean it's it's People. WanNa say whatever they want to say about how what what it takes to make it? But they're a work ethic focused drive a passionate WanNa do it is all super important to to make it and at some point maintaining that from fourteen fifteen. Sixteen seventeen is very very difficult to do. Know we can talk about it all the time about being focused in wanting it and all that but the proof is in Monday through Friday. And how hard? They're working what they're doing and to to be on top of their game and and for whatever reason at times that lapses and you know you could take a great kid who's Fourteen Jesse. Love is a kid we've been with since he was twelve. I think thirteen stupid. How young that was East we're really excited about him and you know then. There's kids like Geo celts. Who came out of nowhere in dirt and had outlawed program in in our racing with us and pavement. That's a little bit kind of a different road that he traveled and then we have Holly Holland and Greasy Trotter. Who really come aboard and done a really good job in kind of in all of our testing have looked quite good still have a lot of development to do. You know there's there's kids we lost Based on Ford coming in that is painful to so. There's I think there's a lot of good crop of young kids coming out racing and as long as they all continue to work hard developing keep good people around him then hopefully we'll see him down the road. We really good group. We have a good team of kids. it's exciting to them kind of interact with each other watch the quote unquote older kids. Who may not actually be older but have been in higher level than others and back and forth and so he has Jackson. We're really excited about about our kids. You mentioned most of the ones I attend to hit their Jesse loved Yosemite. I think Logan. Cv also part of the lineup. I believe I mean so. Logan was Logan is not as involved now. We still are working through some things to see if there's ways to work together it's just difficult to the process is difficult and how everybody fits in where they go. I mean Logan is ridiculously talented. I mean it's it's just finding the path and making it work is always hard. You know I mean you look at the McNally Lineup or venturing lineup with I mean. You have Corey Haim and drew dollar and Michael Self Austin Hills Rachel H at hr e and in. He's ridiculously good. And He's twenty four with two kids for God's sake so I mean it's awesome right. I mean in in in in Austin Hugely Involved Maximum Laughlin with with a jury in there. There is an amazing group of kids in. What's interesting is we're kind of lucky. We have some really driven dedicated guy who want participate and show up every day. And I mean that's what's crazy about the performance central a lot of those that we talked about minus the group their local to North Carolina. Right you get into dirt kids in our dirt. Kids are Cap. GotTa be the younger kids we've ever had consistently with Daisin Ken McIntosh and Buddy I mean it. Just these they're all babies right in and so they're and they're out. There racing are trying to raise eighty times a year. I mean it's it's just an amazing amazing situation but I think we've been very lucky. I mean part of it is. I think what we've done is a little bit different and and our teams of Baden in. That's been a big part of it. That's it goes back to what I said before. The integration of the teams is pretty special and something. I think I'm probably most proud about. Is that all those teams engage in actively discuss things with each other to try to help develop the drivers.

What could TE Austin Hooper bring to Packers offense?

"Was a report from. I think it was robbed a mosque. Who covers the Green Bay packers and he made you know at least the packers are aware that they need more pask actors? They reportedly planned to add two of them via free agency and the draft. And you can certainly get a bunch. But I'm not sure that the guy that he talked he said they're played into. Target Austin Hooper. I'm not sure that's what Aaron Rodgers really needs. I would rather see somebody more explosive. I don't know what you think about that but either released Jimmy Graham who's just Zaslov signing for them. I would note that Matlin. Flair was the Falcons quarterbacks coach when Austin who was a rookie in two thousand sixteen in Atlanta But Yeah I. I don't know I'm not sure awesome. Hooper is exactly what fixes. What's wrong with Green Bay right now? Which is clear. It's Green Bay at margin only feels comfortable throwing to Davante Adams. Yeah I think they're awesome. Hooper would be fine signing You give the packers a solid possession tight end just really reliable. Almost eighty percent career catch. Ray Can block enough from a dynasty standpoint. He would block J Sternberg who drafted in the third round. This past year in. I mean I really liked him coming at a at a Texas. A&m But you know. Yeah he he would be a big roadblock in the way of j Sternberg. I'm completely with you. Though in Syria I mean I. I think that they should sign two guys. I mean I think that Al Having Allen Lazard as your number two option. The passing game isn't good enough and I think that even if they signed someone like Austin Hooper. I think should go robby Anderson. You know I think that Robbie Anderson Opposite Davante Adams would give them Just a completely different dynamic in their passing game. I think that they need some any they I think they need an explosive field stretcher. And Yeah if I was. I would focus on a guy like Robin Anderson. I mean mark has vowed is scant laying in theory had the skill set to be that guy but he just did not take a second year. Yeah there were some reports from Our friend Matthew Berry had noted that era jittery like Salazar staff-related Allen. So I think they're going to add a wide receiver for sure. But for now I would consider Allen Lazard the front runner for the number two wide receiver job. Assuming they don't add anybody which then was certainly
