"Farm. You'll be very happy that you did. I know i can say that. I am very happy that i did because he is now my insurance agent and <hes> it's it's kinda like with financial advisor. I think initially people just kind of take like friends who are getting into the business and you just kinda just go along and then all of a sudden it hits you like oh. I really need somebody who's who's on top of this and that's james carlton and it thrills me to hear james when i get together for lunch. How many people have made the switch. It just makes me feel now. First off makes me feel good because he's an advertiser and i wanna. I wanna deliver a return on investment for him but secondly i know the listeners who have switched to him are in now better shape because there with james carlton. That's important to me those of you who have made the switch. I bet you know exactly exactly what i'm talking about those of you. Who haven't i'm telling you. I'm not just saying this. It's like it's. This is what i did me and my wife did. We switched james carlton. You can do so and they do all the paperwork for three one four nine six six hundred forty eight hundred go online at carlton insurance dot net. If your insurance cost an arm called james dalton state farm the blues and game seven against the stars would have been the textbook. They dominated the game. They had a game seven at home. This was the year and then what they outshout them something third and then they wind up losing and instead you have the hometown kid of course winning that thing and that launched people into absolute manian etienne even though it's only three years removed from what happened against san jose in the western conference finals. I felt like this took it to another level for whatever reason i don't know famous brower goal. You're calling the brower goal in in two thousand sixteen forever and i felt like there was more belief this year. I guess it's easy to say because we know the outcome but i don't know i just felt like there was more belief that this was real and keep in mind. They lost game one against the sharks but everybody i felt i remember tweeting it out and get like four thousand votes. You lose gonna win game two and like seventy five percent like yes. That's it just wasn't the mindset of the blues fan years path. You're always waiting for the shoe to drop in. This year's like they're going to be fine. Yeah i felt like after they beat dallas that they would be san jose and i felt that they had a better team than in sixteen and they lost six games with san jose better a team. Maybe they didn't have carlson <hes> thima meyer. Wasn't there really good young player but i felt the blues were much better team this year than they were sixteen. I really did and as it turns out if you look at that series they just rolled over the sharks. They should have one in five yeah they really should everyone looks at the hand passed goal. Well shirks tie the game with the goalie off. They should have never letting overtime. They wanted five and by by game six. You know you saw the game. Sharks were just they were a minor league team. Yeah they were in pieces so they were just the better team and i felt going into the series. Is that a really good chance to win the series one of the things i loved about that series if anything it's the highlight and there's the post game after the hand pass game carlson thornton burnsville not mistaken in and carlson you know i mean what are they gonna say. I understand but he's like well. We weren't playing handball out. They're just like if i know this group of blues the way i think they work. They're going to be like okay. Screw these guys. We know better. We played them in game three anyway yeah. We're just going to run them. They're not going to win another game. This is over six and that's exactly what they didn't lose another. Yeah exactly i mean they ran them to beat the hell out of them. As it turned out tim i think it really galvanized the team and hand fast games and i really do. I think it really pissed them ma and it should have and they said we're not losing. We are not lose in this series and as it turned out. They didn't lose another game so they get back. I mean that night. I was there with my dad. I was there with my wife and to see the team. Go to the stanley cup final at home an incredible night. What is that night like for for you and your family. You know this is this is this is this is the kelly name here. That's a bigger this is. This is something that i i was thinking about throughout. It's like bobby players eggers in with frank coucilman right now doing it. I was always thinking about players in in kelly's obviously the name of the alumni are so prominent town but there are some names synonymous with this is that i think about what was that night like for going back for the first time. It was a special night. It really was <hes> my entire family. Was there <hes> so you know we watched the handshake line postgame work for fox sports midwest and then the blues had <hes> a private party in one of the clubs and they had the western conference championship trophy in there and we went in there and took pictures with it and <hes> celebrated and had a few cold ones and i it was it's a really special night but <hes> you know i thought about it a lot. You know might my dad. He called the blues for the second and third her trips to the finals he wasn't here. The first year young buck did the games as you know <hes> so to think about you know back then my dad probably felt that oh oh man this is easy every year and lo and behold they don't go back for forty nine years so you know i thought about that and you know mainly. I was so happy for the fans because you could you could just feel it in the building tim how happy they were and how badly this team they wanted this team to win a stanley cup and now they knew after the san jose series. They were four wins away. I know the go there was a goal in the third period can recall who scored it and at that moment because it's a little tight. Here's a push at the start of that third period they were dominating acting and i'm like oh my god no no no oh no no maybe bows acts goal to make it was and couture had a breakaway opportunity been intimated save and then the blue scored a few minutes later and then at that moment uh i think people like this is really going to happen came countdown in a celebration which was so incredible and then all of these things are attached to it on top of it. You know i mean that's the thing about this. It wasn't just a great hockey. Team was the team is in last place hockey players in general likable but a lot of personalities emerged who you probably already knew a great personalities always but you knew about the layla anderson story and what went on with her in her presence with the team <hes> video of bobby plager- walking around he can't watch the game became aware of that guys knew about. I'm sure forever but that he could watch games and then chris kerber comes to you and says i want you to call the second period of of the stanley cup final games. I'm telling you i mean so often. I'm like okay. Somebody did this but this is. What's in it for them and i know it's not going to get the ends. Justifies the means but this is like the most selfless gesture in an appreciation of history. It was perfect perfect so how did it all come to pass will actually can't pass in that in that party room. After game six against san jose <hes> as i said i was in there with my a wife and kids and and chris was in there with his family there were one hundred people in their employees and and and executives in chris this came up to me and said john. I want you to call a game <hes> appear in every game of the final and my reaction was no. I'm not gonna do that. It's not my job at your the job and he said john. It's not an option for you. He insisted and jennifer my wife was there and she was she was all crying and i call my mom the next day and she was just over the moon and it yeah the word that comes to mind to me. Tim is unprecedented he because it's never been done before that i know of where radio announcer has said you're going to do part of the stanley cup final or any championship so you know it's it was unprecedented and i am forever grateful for chris for making that gesture i mean i initially i thought it was one of the second period the game one of my right. What a great that great anyway great idea was that it was second period of all seven games. I mean it's just something else and and and how much different is it calling ling on radio versus television. I mean there's there's some elements to that. I would imagine that happy. You have to be cognizant of that. Of course the people listening or most likely not viewing unless they've picked doc emrick fans and there aren't a lot of those no and by that. I mean not a lot of people who are not fans of doc ever yeah obviously you're. You're way more descriptive but you know tim. I came up in radio. I did six years in the american hockey league. Were i did eighty games a year on radio with no collar man and i was the engineer holt. Oh oh days early broadcast right and then. I did some some games in tampa bay when i was there on radio but i'm not gonna say that it was seamless. It's a bit of a it's a different <hes> challenge and it's also unique to come in in the second period plan and but you know you you you just are coming in and the first periods over and but i would listen i would sit next to chris and joey in the first period so i could hear everything they said so i didn't repeat if if they gave a stat or a quick anecdote or whatever i repeat that right because there everyday like they are getting ready for the games and things like that so it was a lot of fun it was a lot of although i must admit in in my seven second period periods. I was a minus player. I knew you were coming in of like what did he have. In the second period of that of the game in front of thinking like k. ain't nothing really doing in. I aims game three was bockel. I felt like they got up early with riley's wraparound in game four and i was immersed career right yeah. I'd say ah game five. It was more famous with the bosak. No call in the peron goal that was third period game six was a tobacco goals there yeah i did call. I believe in game five o'reilly made it one nothing that was very early in the second backhand. That's right. That's right. That's right that's right but then as you said peron got the winner in the third on that controversy. I'm just having i was. I was a minus announcer but it was it was the greatest we drank from game says all said i wanna i. I happened to see you. I don't know if you remember this by the way <hes> before games james and young page views in his chinchilla yeah so he's about to appear on the fox. That's the thing so i was talking this guy. I know where i was going with it. <hes> we were talking and then mike torika walks by because we're all by the sets of fox sports midwest and n._b._c. and you said hello and then you guys wind up talking for a few minutes and i felt like he was saying some very kind things i didn't like. I was over there with a chinchilla. I've got i got. I got two things i'm dealing with but what was what would mike obviously had appreciation for the significance of this for you and your family. He knew who he knew of my dad and i don't think he ever met him but he said great things about him and actually i complimented him. I said mike i can't believe what a great job. You did. <hes> doing a few games on n._b._c. S. n. when you had never done hockey before and i meant it from my heart <hes> because i know how challenging it is to call play by play and here's this guy that comes in in the middle of season and again. I don't know if he'd ever done hockey period in any at any level and i thought he was fantastic..

"They did it. It's over over this series is over. The wait is over. Saint Louis blues are the Stanley Cup champions. I. History. This is after hours with Amy Lawrence. One of the coolest moments in sports in two thousand nineteen and we're just halfway through the year. I know it's going to survive. Awesome victory by the Saint Louis blows. It was a game seven Stanley Cup final in Boston. But one of the things that I appreciate it. So much was the team's willingness to include eleven year old Layla Anderson, who is just an awesome, little girl who has fighting a very rare autoimmune disease, but loves loves loves her blues, and so her relationship with the team, especially Colton Perico. She was there on the ice with the Stanley Cup the videos, went viral course the victory parade even in the rain this little girl has the most I can't mile just incredible ability that sports have to heal and offer hope and at the same time you could understand the inspiration that the players themselves draw from this little girl who is fighting with all she's got. To be able to get healthy again. Chris Kerber with the call on the blues radio network. It was a different eleven year old who I think brought most of the audience to tears when the NHL awards were handed.

"Worked hard my whole life. I've been surrounded by amazing people and always just wanted to be successful. I didn't know what it was what I was going to do. Phone love with golf, and it's transcended into today, and it's it all kind of came out. I never let myself get ahead all day today. This is after hours with Amy Lawrence. First time major winner. Gary woodlands after he thinks birdie putt on eighteen from thirty feet. You hear that call with Joe buck on FOX the player of the week brought to you by Grainger. So let's take a look at the one who got it done at the US open Pebble Beach that icon. Ick course and because conditions were so. Nice were very scoreboard. Very playable. The weather helped a lot with that. So it was not rainy. But the cloud cover the see the marine fog, if you will kept the greens, pretty soft and kept the course not nearly as dangerous as what it might have been. If you had a bunch of wins in the course and the greens dried out, but Gary woodland, actually finished it minus thirteen which is better than what tiger wood posted in two thousand when he. Was at minus twelve and won by fifteen strokes woodland talked about how he was able to stay in the moment. And that's huge for him because he very often had opportunities to win tournaments and the reason path, and just could not close. In fact, he would fold in the final rounds he would give up fifty four hole leads, but not this time not even with two time defending champ. Brooks kept breathing down his neck. So he finally figured it out the waiting for his first major was not a waste it prepared him for this moment. And if you have not seen the FaceTime conversation that he had with a Special Olympics gopher named Amy I retweeted it earlier. In fact, it was just before I went on the air, the PGA tour shared this on their Twitter. And then as I say, I retweeted it I'd heard the story, but theing the FaceTime conversation with Amy pretty amazing. They met at a recent tournament. I think it was a pro am of some sort and they were playing a whole together. And she. He really amazed. Gary with the way that she was able, she got into a bunker and then she still had to get out of the bunker, she got up and down for par. She was talking to result, the whole time really encouraging yourself and staying positive. And they've developed a pretty cool friendship. And so while he was standing there with the US open trophy on Sunday. He was FaceTime. Ing with Amy and like I said, the PGA tour put the whole conversation up, and it's really sweet eight all warm, your heart. A little bit like the St Louis blues relationship with Layla Anderson, and so, I would encourage you to watch it and to me, this is what matters most what matters most is, when we have a platform, and we have the ability to influence and impact others. And we do it in a positive way. So congratulations to Gary woodland who's been around a long time, and now is a major winner, the player of the week brought to you by Grainger, grainger's. Got your back when it comes to the safety and industrial supplies that keep your facility running get what you need when you need it at Grainger dot com. So you can find. Me on Twitter. A law radio producer. Chris is using our show account our show Twitter account to re tweet a lot of your answers to our toys Tuesday question, which are making me feel better and also cracking me up. But before I tell you where this idea came from, I wanna quit clarify something. Dave. So you were talking about Christmas story, somehow my brain. I got stuck on Christmas vacation. So I was thinking Chevy Chase. And remember he got what he thought was going to be this huge bonus check and his boss came over to their Christmas party. And it turned out to be like a, a ticket for free steaks or something. What was the gift? It was something. It was something really ridiculous. It might have been like a free steak deliver with something dumb yet. Don't remember what he gets, but I do. Remember what you're talking. I got Christmas story and Christmas vacation mixed up. But the lamp is now up on our Facebook page as well as on Twitter, so it's the leg lamp. And now remembering some of you are, are sending me the, the different videos, the gift, whatever. So. Yes. 11-year-old Blues fan celebrates Stanley Cup
"Old Layla Anderson has an incredibly rare immunodeficiency disease because of the disease called H, L H. She's had bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy, that has meant some pretty significant hospital. Stays Anderson is also to put it mildly a fan of her hometown hockey team the Saint Louis blues and during the team's visits to the hospital, Leyla got to know many of the players on her favorite team. Her beloved blues were vying for the Stanley Cup versus the Boston Bruins in Beantown last night the day before the game. Her mother, Heather posed a question to Leyla captured on video. If you could watch the game anywhere in the world tomorrow, anywhere in the world, where would you watch boys play games, Boston, which seemed highly improbable, because Leyla Anderson has not been able to travel, what if they told you the blues called in they want you at the game. Boy, how said it's okay. He did. So Leyla found herself at the garden watching as.

"HD, two Cumulus station. So close we are we were as a team. We're. Fit all your and we pronounce whatever we says it doesn't matter because it's it is. Yeah, I mean listen. What do you expect from the Bruins players? It's gut wrenching loss expected away near a heavy favourite going into, you know, they just could not solve Jordan and bidding tin consistently in the series. There were games that they did. And they were able route them, but there were other games where they could not and could not get a puck past Bennington. And then when you start to press, he get what transpired in that third period goals, three and four before they were able to get their first great goalie like being ten as a young guy, rookie will definitely pull the life out of a potent offense. And that's we did he shut them, down and shut the crowd down and shut everything down that that awesome. Keep that kid is great. So he's got a great career ahead of him. Yeah. He really does. And TASR also a wonderful scene. We should we. We'd be remiss if we did not mention, you know, the wonderful story of Layla Anderson, right? You know, she has been diagnosed with a life-threatening immune disease disorder called L, H, L, H, the team, the St Louis blues team broader to the garden into Boston last night, her, and her mom were there watching it. She celebrated she's kind of like the blue superfan. She celebrated it was able to kiss the Stanley Cup after this game went fine. I mean just awesome. When they when they showed her in the, you know the luxury box watching the game. It's really, you know, it doesn't bring a tear to your eye. You know you have. No. I mean, it's just a wonderful story. It really is. It's a great job amazing by the blues to get her to end by the Bruins organization. You know, I'm sure they set her up the right way that she was a member. She was a guest of the blues, you know, 'cause the organization I'm sure they saying by both clubs. She's a superfan point, right? Yeah. Right. You know what I mean? I know what you mean. I mean right. The Bruins I mean listen. Look at a young woman, young girl that's gone through, you know, a life threatening disease that's fighting for life. That's a huge Louis Blues fan. And, you know, his become kind of like the focal point of blues phantom out there and say Louis to see her there and being able to celebrate and be with the Stanley Cup and celebrate it with the blues team. It's just a wonderful story. Really? Yeah. Yep. And here she is after this game courtesy of sports net. I couldn't.

"Hey, good morning. I'm good. Thank you. Good. Kind of put them back to the K D thing really quick. Kinda noted over the past week, every Monday night, and the entry obviously is kind of a whole narrative chain a little bit. You know, has been into Oakland. Joining throwing team already but he goes out he plays for teen and now he's just around with nothing. But love, you know, now that the injury happened just seems by the warriors by the fans fan general, some of, you know, some of the critics out there when he did join the warriors. But now it seems that we've all kind of come together just comport him. And, you know, it's interesting Kelly really quick to cut in here. I actually saw guy on my Facebook page, who called this karma for him, leaving Oklahoma City, a ruptured achilles. Karma for leaving. Okay. See, so while maybe the fans that you've encountered have this this, this happy, happy joy joy in. Let's all support Katie attitude. I've certainly seen a lot of the opposite. Where people are saying he deserves this. Whatever the hell that means. I god. Yeah. That's horrible. Fame. But I thank you for taking my call day. Sure. Thanks. Have a great Dane Atlanta. Yeah. I deleted that comment off my Facebook page. Because I think that's awful. I mean, if you want karma if you believe in karma than how about you start talking about other people like that he deserves it. He deserves it how because he made a decision to join the Golden State Warriors, and win two titles in two NBA finals MVP's so for that he deserves to lose a year of his career and tear his achilles. What is wrong with people? I asked that question a lot and never really get an answer rhetorical. But gross. If that's really how you feel. There's something wrong in your brain, and you maybe should try them compassion empathy. Again, if you believe in karma, you better watch out to it's after hours on CBS sports radio and on Facebook. So if you haven't seen the video of Layla Anderson blue superfan in finding out that she was going to game seven in Boston as a guest of the franchise of, but they're also videos and I've put. Them on Twitter Ehlo radio of her. Getting to hold hoist kiss the Stanley Cup with her her best bud Colton Perico and I really appreciate not just the blues as a whole for adopting Layla and remembering that sports have the ability to inspire, and create hope and lift and support encourage but how about the individual players. So Perico went to visit her multiple times in the hospital. The players have talked about how much it means to them that Leyla been a part of this, and that they're, they're rallies. So to speak. We're almost parallel there pads were running parallel, as Layla was going through chemo and was getting that bone marrow transplant in January, and then recovering an isolation that was about the same time that the blues were putting together their run to get back to relevance in the NHL. So if you haven't seen the stories you haven't seen the interviews with Layla or with her mom and just. The cool videos that are mom is put on social media couple of them on, on my Twitter. But also the blues have all kinds of great videos with Layla before we take our break here at the bottom of the hour. I want to say Bravo John beeline, and Bravo Cleveland Cavaliers. No. I know I wasn't on the air after the swin, cash anals put so swin cash is a former uconn star and actually I did my first ever. Westwood One NC double A tournament game with swin cash. So she was my partner on Westwood One radio. That was a really neat moment for me. And for her, it was the first time doing it a couple of years ago she got hired in the front office by the New Orleans pelicans, and we'll talk more about the pelicans coming up because they've got some news of their own. In addition to swin cash, and maybe she's going to be a part of the Anthony Davis decision. But how about this Lindsay Gottlieb becomes the latest coach too? I should say the latest female coach. I mean you can tell that she's the sheath of Email. I guess there are some mayo Lindsay's out there but Lindsay Gottlieb becomes the next female coach to join a staff in the NBA. So she's the first one to come from the college ranks. But she's doing this, this growing movement in the NBA where guys like Gregg Popovich, and others are bringing females on board and could care less about their gender couldn't care less about their gender, what they care about is whether or not, they can coach and teach the game and communicate with today's players. And so got leave has an incredible track record from her time at UC Berkeley. She went to a final four she took her teams to the tournament seven times in eight years. And she's the first women's college head coach that's been recruited to an NBA staff relatively early in her career. She's only forty one and she's going to be right there with be, and also see it head coach Bickerstaff. So I just think this is awesome good for. Coach P line for Koby Altman for thinking outside the box and not being limited by what's been done in the past or what conventional also as a side note and selfish a little selfish. I really am thankful that there are more women who are joining staffs, whether front office or coaching staff in the NBA because I believe it's only a matter of time until female gets a job as an NBA play by play announcer. And I would like to be that I one so congratulations to coach leave also love it from John line, and the Cavaliers they're going to have a lot of young players there and coaches, obviously like coach beeline is obviously able to communicate with players about that age, so college age remember, a lot of guys leave college early in bolt to the NBA. And so that's right in her wheelhouse. And she's again how to track record of success. So as long as you can teach and coach the game as long as you can communicate, it shouldn't matter whether or. "But if you break it down to individual players. Maybe you can have them Pathy, maybe. I mean for Brad Marchand to talk about how he still hasn't gotten over two thousand thirteen when they lost the Blackhawks, now this, that he's never going to get over it, honestly. I was a little taken aback when I saw Marshon crying that I didn't expect that. He's considered one of the well, some some people would call them the dirty at one of the dirtiest players in hockey. But he's edgy. He's tough. He likes to push the envelope. He loves to get up in your grill. He's trying to get under your skin for sure. He's kind of a no nonsense player and he's crying. And so going back to two thousand thirteen. There are six guys that are on this roster that were denied by the Blackhawks, although five of those players did win the cut back in two thousand eleven but I can understand you force game seven and then you lose it on your own ice with a performance. That is going to haunt you. Let's be honest. They had a wealth of opportunities against Jordan Bennington. But it wasn't just bidding tin coming up with thirty two say's and thirty three shots just side note similar to game five. The Bruins outshot the blues thirty three to twenty in this game. And so going back to that game I talked about missed opportunities how in that first period of game number five. They had so many chances and yet it was the blues who came away, feeling like they had gotten off to a great start because they dodge the proverbial bullets. So in addition to bidding ten saves. Twenty one block shots for the blues, sacrificing their bodies putting themselves in the line of fire. And Jordan Bennington. We'll have to wait his turn for Smyth because goes to Ryan Riley, just amazing the way that he came on late. But obviously without Bennington. This team is not in his final dream this for so long and you is a kid that just like that, that feeling is back to just like what it means. To, to win this thing. And I just I still, I still can't believe this, this is, I can't believe I'm here right now. And and the Stanley Cup champion with this group of guys his production for us all year and then throughout the playoff. I mean he was just the relentless hockey player for a long time. Never never never quits and just such a smart way player. He's, he's a special player. So Craig Baru be and his con Smythe trophy winner Ryan O'Reilly before that twenty three playoff points is a franchise record when you're in the same categories, a Wayne Gretzky or a Mark Messier, and he tied a couple of Weli tied. Wayne Gretzky for four with four consecutive Stanley Cup final games in which he scored in a row. So Gretzky was the last player to do that score in four straight final games. But also with Mark Messier. He had a six game point streak in the final and the last player to do that was. Was was messy ninety four so two of the greatest players who ever put on skates and rhino Riley is in the conversation with the way that he rallied in the Cup final, and you know what he had missed a bunch of opportunities on his own before that, before he really got going, and the way that he set the tone for them. Also the way that he took advantage of what was there and the rebounds that he would jump on. So it kinda Johnny on the spot or Ryan on the spot and only his first year with the Saint Louis blues and yet I bet for a lot of fans that feels like he's been there forever. So you can find me on Twitter, a law radio. We're gonna get your calls here. Eight five five two one two four two two seven. And then our Facebook page two if you haven't seen the video with Layla Anderson superfan, for the St Louis blues, got to be in person in Boston and then on the ice to kiss the Cup after her favorite team was crowned champions. And you know how much I love the number two..

"After hours with Amy Lawrence, the voice of one Jordan Bennington on sports net. And he is a major reason why the blues were able to climb out of that hole. They dug for themselves in January as the worst team in the NHL according to records, maybe now the Cording to skill or talents or abilities. But according to record and you know what I say about pro sports, you are, what your record says you are. And now here they are there. Records says they won the Stanley Cup final four games to three in Boston and Bennington eight and two following a loss in the Stanley Cup playoffs. This is a guy who had a few games in which he was pummeled. In fact, the first game that he ever got pulled was game three of the Stanley Cup final. The Bruins had everything going and the two one final lead. But that short term memory that -bility to bounce back. And forget how you failed the game before the day before it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. Loved to talk to you hockey fans you like this ending and of course, we still have one more champion to crown either on Thursday with Toronto. Raptors, they could end up being the second consecutive night of history. They could represent that as well. If the raptors can win game six at oracle not only do they end that arenas long and storied run. But they would also celebrate their first title in their own franchise history. Or we could see. The NBA finals go to a game seven as well. You know, I'm all about the game seven and the DRAM, so on Twitter or Facebook after hours with Amy Lawrence. I appreciate all of your reaction to my, my question about Kevin Durant, and about what you would do, if you're the general manager of an NBA team. Some of your reaction was ridiculous sorry. But if you really think that Kevin Durant is hurt because of karma, something's wrong with you. And you're taking your sports too seriously. But aside from that, those of you who entered the question, and gave me, your honest, opinion. I appreciate so you can do that still, we'll give you the latest on Kevin Durant, as well as here from both the warriors and the raptors in advance of game number six so yeah, we could have backed back nights with sports history. But there's one reason that I am even more giddy over the blues winning the Cup. And when I think. Eighty when I say celebrates because I love this kind of stuff I am a sucker for franchises winning for the first time ever for, for guys who have been disappointed and for a franchise that's been long suffering, but it dish into that the way they did it. I'm not sure how you can not be impressed by the six month turnaround for this team. And the individual stories as well. But putting the sports element aside, you may have seen whether photos, videos, or heard of eleven year old Layla Anderson and Kenny Albert mentioned her name. She is a blues superfan that they adopted as their favorite. She Thirdly developed quite the friendship with Colton Perico and. I love the, the parallels between what she has gone through and what the blues went through in winning the Cup. Now hear me out the Cup is sports Leyla her struggles going through chemo facing four months of isolation at home. She couldn't leave her house for four months, because she has a rare autoimmune disease. She was diagnosed two years ago. And she had to go through chemo and bone marrow transplant in January, but even before that, she loved her Saint Louis blues. And so she would always stand where the little kids are allowed to stand. Right near the, the tunnel, the entrance onto the ice and she would do fist-bump or handshakes, and she agreed the players as they were just about to step onto the ice. And be she became such a familiar face if they started asking her her name. But then she was diagnosed with this rare immune disorder. In fact, I was watching one story on Layla, and there was a doctor who was part of her treatment team that said her specific version of this disease which has a long and scientific name that I can't pronounce but her particular strain of this disease this disorder. Only fifteen people in the world have ever been diagnosed with this particular version of this autoimmune disorder. So it's extremely rare and she went through chemo, and then she went through a bone marrow transplant and she was in the hospital. This is an eleven year old and her face changed. She was thin. She had long blond hair. She lost that hair. Her face got really puffed up, her body type change and the doctors told her and her family that this is what would happen rare and almost mutated genetic strain that produce this disease. And so they warned her and her family about all the different things that she would have to go through. But she is amazingly tough. And so as she is going through chemo owner bone marrow transplant, and then going through the four months of isolation at home because they didn't want her to get sick. Layla watching the blues and she keeps pointing out to her mom, mom. There rallying to look at them, they're starting to win. They're starting to get better. Like I am. And so this part I love, I love this element to her story. She finally allowed to leave the hospital. She's finally allowed to leave her home. And in may the doctor said she could go to a game. So she comes out a month in months of isolation. So she's not susceptible to, to a lot of germs. She doesn't get sick and the doctors finally agreed that she can go to a game. And you know what it was game three of the conference finals? And that's the first time she got to see her blues again in person. And so the blues adopted her, not just the individual players as I say, Perico went to visit her multiple times in the hospital, and they really developed a sweet friendship. And so if you haven't seen the video, it's on my Twitter, it's gone viral, so I'm sure many of you have seen it. But in between games, six and seven the blues reached out to lay LA's mom, Heather and invited them to come to the game in Boston as the blues guests and so on video. And again it's on my Twitter. Law radio on video. Heather somehow, keep a straight face and And tells Leyla that not only are they going to game number seven. But that the doctors are allowing her to travel, and she, of course, starts to cry. I started to cry when I saw it and then she was on the ice as well with their friend, Colton. She got to be out there and they hoisted the Cup together overhead and then she got to kiss the Cup multiple times and to see that little face and to see the joy. And of course, she's overcome by tears as many of the blues players are their families. Even more than the sports element of this, this rags to riches story. How about this little girl, whose life is forever changed who has gone to hell and back and is now recovering though is likely to suffer from this autoimmune disease, the rest of her life and may affect her as long as she's on this earth and eleven year old. Dec- little kids go through something that's hard, this painful. And yet, she has that same resilient safe and a massive smile. And she has affected the blues organization, the players with our joy not to mention everyone who hears her story. So check it out on my Twitter. We'll put it up.

"Series, just wanna get your final thoughts before you head over to the TV side, as far as what's going on down the ice you at a chat a chance to chat with Jordan Benny did at so many of the blues final thoughts before outside. Well, it just an incredible. An incredible spectacle here for the St Louis blues, an incredible run. Going from last place in January to this point and the, the level of belief inside this blues locker room. They, they had a lot of different different parts different guys contributing a goaltender that started the year in the minors, and now is able to come in and, and win a Stanley Cup rhino Riley coming from an organization where he missed the playoffs. It was disappointing really was their best player all year long, and then eventually wins the Kansai trophy, just so many incredible story lines. And it just goes to show you that timing is everything if you can get your game into form at the right time of year. Anything is possible, a tremendous job by Craig ba- ruby to get these guys to believe in themselves to dig out of the hole that they were in to see the excitement in these guys phases. I mean it's something else, the next player that who never won and came close. At one time in a Stanley Cup final losing in six games. I know the pain of being on the other side but to see these guys and how happy they are truly as something something to see. All right. Affects boost great job. Thanks guys. We'll see. All right. Brian Boucher heading over to. NBC S N as the blues continue to celebrate Colton break. Oh, just posed for a photo with eleven year old, Layla Anderson, and the Stanley Cup tears in her eyes. What a seen what an unbelievable scene. Colton Perico was really the player that connected with her early on. And they formed a son, believable relationship, she with him him with her, and it grew to what it's become here. And then she's been in port and part of this blows team. Golden break. Oh handing the Cup back to Pat. Maroon family members friends around the ice, the Saint Louis lows will four one victory in game seven over the Boston Bruins they win the Stanley Cup in seven games. And they continue to celebrate here at TD garden. The St Louis blues are the Stanley Cup champions, much more to come from Boston. When we return in conjunction with NBC.

"Of these Stanley Cup final. We're joined in the last segment by Kenny, Albert will be on the call for Westwood One. Kenny shared with us a little bit how that story. Started out with the Saint Louis blues players, a few of them were actually at a local Philadelphia stablishment. I guess they were getting ready to play the flyers. And while that was happening. They it was before the game day before the game, they're in town and the eagles and bears are playing in their wildcard game. And when that game was happening, as you remember it was the Cody parkey doubled. And then you had Cody park, you the next day going on. Good Morning America. The today show and it was the whole sympathy card. Oh, he's the most audible player because Cody park, he missed the kick and handled it with such class. So now that we have thought or him, it was sickening watching that stuff. So few players were at a Philadelphia stabs watching that game. And this was documented NHL dot com. And they said, we got together with some friends and watch the game with the bunch of Philly guys who grew up there. They had a DJ in the bar and whenever. There was a commercial break the DJ at the bar with crank up the tunes and all these guys from Philly who are at the bar with dead up and start dancing someone that has lived in Philadelphia for the last seven years. I could see maybe a few alcoholic beverages being involved here, and they're having those fantas go, go baby and doing a little Philadelphia shimmy. That's probably what was happening so they start dancing around. They play the song Gloria a couple of times. And this one guy looked at the DJ and said Cape playing Gloria, so they kept playing it, everyone would get up and start singing, dancing, the blues players. So they just sat there and right there. They said we should start playing this lung after our wins. We won the next game. We gotta shout out a shutout, so we just kept plying it always love those hockey stories involved with it. I remember I was around the Rangers. When they went to the Stanley Cup final before they ripped my heart out and loss to the Los Angeles. Kings, even though they had two big leads in game one and two. And when I was around the Rangers covering that team during their run they would always play Maxine Nightingale song, right back where we started from and I would hear it in the locker room and then I would play it my car before every game I would have bizarre routines before they would play before they play a big game for example a game six against Montreal. Or in the first round, they took the flyers the seven games. So they had the comeback against the penguins that they were down three one and that went to a seventh game I would have a bizarre routine. I would play Maxine Nightingale's right back where we started from I would then go to the gym run on the elliptical for about forty minutes, and then I would come home, and I would watch miracle. And that would be my routine before a big game to get pumped up when the Rangers were in the Stanley Cup playoffs and we're having some success, and then I would get on a train and go into New York City and watch the games. That's what I would do cover the games and then speak to the players after the game. So nice little touch there with Gloria and the stories of the blues, we talked about Jaden Schwartz. Eleven goals in the regular season twelve in the postseason his family's had to overcome the death of Jaden Schwartz's sister, who died from cancer in two thousand eleven Pat maroon elects to Sam gonna go play for my hometown team in the Saint Louis blues. He gets the game winning goal in a game seven in the second round his kid is there in the stands crying when the kid found out that daddy scored the game winning goal last year or two years ago. You had a similar moment, not in the playoffs. But it was with Jaden Schwartz. Jaden Schwartz was Pat maroon coming home for a regular season game. And he scored a goal in the kid was actually it wasn't the kid who was crying. It was the dad, and Pat maroon, who was crying if memory serves me. Right. You've got choked up talking about his kid after the game and then with the blues, it's remarkable. Like we said earlier, the number seven nine and three when they fire Mike you Craig berbie takes over the worst team in the league in January early January now four wins away from winning the Stanley Cup final. The blues under Baru be in the regular season thirty eight nine thousand nine hundred six Craig Berube, he should have never been fired from the Philadelphia Flyers. That was another quick move. They make the playoffs one year when he takes over for Laviola. Let another flyers coach that was five that ended up getting to a Stanley Cup final throw my keyed in that mix as well. Who was with the flyers and then went on to go to a Stanley Cup with another team. Those are some that come to mind with ruby though. What he's done with this team. It's unbelievable. Then you have Bennington like we said, twenty four five and one in the regular season as a rookie goaltender absolutely absurd. And the best story of the mall is the way that this team has embraced superfan Leyla Anderson, who has a rare immune disease, and she's been so positive, and even Pat maroon after they punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup final. There was a moment where he shared with Layla Anderson and said, you're our inspiration and she's been all over the television with a big smile on her face. And it's great to see what sports can do for someone, especially in such a tough time, especially with even though there's great positively dealing with what Leyland Dixon is fighting with. It's great to see that the team in her able to have that special connection and it all started with that video, where her mom told Leyla that she was going to the game. And she was so excited and crying it was it was great to see. So hey Santa Cup finals. They get started tonight. Let me spend the second talking about Boston. And the city of Boston and what there may be able to accomplish our at another chapter two and their dynastic, Ron. And that's what it's really been ever since two thousand and one where Adam venit, Terry led by the Tom Brady drive which set up the Viteri game winning field goal. It's been championship after championship for Boston just the patriots alone. They've been to nine Super Bowls nine they've won six. They defeated the Rams. They defeated the Panthers the eagles. Then the Seahawks the falcons the twentieth two three comeback. And this past year, the Rams. They also lost to the giants twice. And the eagles that team though has been to nine Super Bowls. They've won six the Boston Bruins since two thousand one they've been to two Stanley Cup final the two Stanley Cup final. They played in were the one where they defeated Vancouver in game seven FM Hoover. And then they lost to the Blackhawks. Folks where you had that crazy end of the sequence in that final game. So they've been to two Stanley Cups. You also have the Boston Celtics go in the two MB finals both against the Lakers, one one and they lost one. And then you have the Boston Bruins breaking the curse of the great Bambino winning the World Series, two thousand four and then going on to win three other World Series. So with that, all being said, they played and the Bruins without make this, they're playing for seventeen championships since two thousand and one they've been a part of seventeen championship round games. Now they've won twelve let me see if by mass writer, I'm pretty. Oh, no. Here. Yeah, they won twelve because the pats have six Celtics have won Bruins have one and then you have the Boston Red Sox with four. So they've won twelve out of sixteen championships that look at the make it thirteen out of seventeen that's been the success in Boston. So you could be a kid that was born in two thousand and one. Or maybe if you bought a fears before two thousand one when you actually start remembering sports. And you've seen your teams if you grew up being a fan of Boston sports after tonight the start game one after game on this comes to close. You'll see your team play in seventeen championship rounds seventeen and you already got twelve parades that you've been to an chance at thirteenth. We will never see a run like this in a city ever again. We never will and the Boston Celtics are the one team. They probably have to feel the worst in the city. Because patriots when this past year, the Red Sox win this past year. The Bruins can win this past year, and even though you have Saint Louis, and they've been such a great emotional story. I, I do lean towards the Bruins in this series. I hope we go seven. I hope it goes seven, and I hope it goes to three overtime in game seven overtime and the Stanley Cup playoffs. It's not fun. When you're teams in the race. If your team's playing if you're a Bruins are blues fan overtime, it's torture. However, if your team has been eliminated, it's extremely fun. So I would love to see the series go seven. If I had to make a prediction right now. I probably take the Bruins and six I'll be very curious though. How Boston does show up in game one and you'll know a lot about this game. I don't think the game gets the site in the first period tonight. You will though no a lot about this game in the first period though, tonight because you have Boston not playing since may sixteenth where they did sweep the Carolina Hurricanes out of the Stanley Cup playoffs. That's a long lay-off. And also with Boston not only you, are you trying to accomplish winning the city that thirteen championship since two thousand and one you also have some players on that team that are looking for their second ring with the Boston Bruins you do have some of those players still around never on the last team to win a Stanley Cup final. And some of those players have been through losing one as well. So you could go from a different level in Boston, sports, and the way that you remembered inside that Bruins organization, you went one. You'll always be remembered you go when they second championship though, changes the picture a little bit and changes the way that you are remembered, and even. Uh-huh. Boston was great in the regular season. Going into the playoffs. They weren't expected to be here. The team that was expected to be here with the Tampa Bay Lightning historical season. Sixty two wins one hundred twenty something points, is one twenty eight the head. It was it was absolutely ridiculous. What they were doing and Tampa couldn't even get out of the first round where you have the Columbus, blue jackets, showing them the door. And you also had another number one seed going down as well in Calgary as Colorado did defeat them in the first round. So it's been a crazy crazy Razi. Stanley Cup Lyles. And it.
