"She's very fertile. But rachel remains barren. Laya has four sons in quick succession. Ruben shimon simeon levi. Levi and judah and rachel has zero children in each one of these four children. She names the child based upon the feelings that she's having an appreciation that she's having four what this creates in the family and she names. For example judah the word yehuda means appreciation or thankfulness. And she's thankful to god that she has a fourth and therefore she names him judah. The tommy tells us that until laya thank god for having a child when she named her fourth son judah there was no one that had that same level of appreciation for god in history. Chapter thirty begins where rachel sees that she doesn't have any children and her sister is having many children and she becomes envious and she tells jacob. Give me children. Otherwise i am dead. Simply stated rachel was envious of the fact that her sister laya had children and she did not rashi tells us something very fascinating. Rashi says that. Rachel was envious of her sister. She was envious of her sisters. Good deeds that resulted in her being meritorious in having children rashes revealing to us a different understanding in in the torah that the envy was not just simple base envy rather it was envy of the spiritual dis that resulted in laya having fertility so rachel tells jacob you have to pray for me. Ultimately rachel takes her mates from bill and gives her to jacob. They have two children together. Laya sees that she stopped having children so she take her maid. Servants zupan also gives her to jacob as a wife and she also has two sons. So the final. Tally is that. Jacob has four wives. Rachel laya bila and silva and thus far he has eight sons four from laya and to appease from bill and zilkha and then we read the story about the do dime. These do dime are some sort of herbs or spices. That were believed to help. Contribute towards fertility ruben. The oldest son of jacob. The oldest son of layout he goes out and the time of the of the wheat harvest. He finds these dime these aphrodisiacs or some other sort of herbs in the fields brings them to lay out. His mother and rachel says to laya. Please give me some of your sons. Do give me some of these herbs or plans that could contribute towards fertility. Soleil responded very surprising way. She sat her was. You're taking my husband insignificance and now you take even my son's do dime and rachel responds. Therefore he should lie with you tonight in return for your son's do dime so so lazarus reaction to rachel's request is very puzzling after all rachel forefeited beamed jacobs sole wife by revealing the secret code under the canopy and here laya tells her was. You're taking my husband insignificant as if it was rachel who took leah's husband not vice versa. And i think what this reveals something very very incredible rachel when she revealed the secret code to assist olaya. She didn't reveal to her that really she was supposed to be the wife of jacob. She conveyed it to her sister laya as if she was the messenger. Oh jacob want them to send you the secret code. That's what she told her. She never revealed to her. She never made her feel bad to say that. Although you know. You're the johnny come lately you're the second best. Thus inlays is it's rachel who was the one who took her husband not that she took rachel's husband this i think shows us the greatness of these women first of all shows us incredibly how how rachel was able to not only forfeit. Her husband's soul attention focus but also that she never rub this in the face of lay. Elena never knew what we know that really..

"Today. So what do i do with a voice. Like i can't turn it off. And she was like well. Maybe the point isn't a turn it off. Maybe the point is to realize and become present with when it was turned on like when it arose. And a what is it about those feelings and these specific triggers. That brings this right back to you today. And what your body what. Your inner child really is showing you and asking you for right now isn't to fix everything isn't to get into this rigid space of making the list and fixing this. It's like what is your inner child. One and i'm like sitting with it like i don't know she's like well when laya is in the space like if imagine laya was really feeling really alone feeling really rejected feeling like something's wrong with her. Can you imagine that. And when i put it in that view like a imagine. It's her easily right away right away as a mom like i know what she needs like she needs to be held. She needs to be seen. She needs to be heard and listened to like. She needs kindness and compassion. You know that's what she needs. He doesn't need everything fixed and organiz in a certain way like she just needs to be held. Okay we'll so there's my answer like when that voice gets really loud what do i do. I find ways to hold myself. I find ways to be kind to myself. I find ways to take care of myself. I right before. I look at everybody else. And what everybody needs. And fixing everything on the outside for other which. I'm so great at also. Because it's a massive distraction from ever having to take great care of myself. It's like okay. What would it look like. If i spent every day this coming week completely honoring my own needs before anybody else's really in presence with my own heart and also listening and holding that space for my inner child at hey i'm triggered now..

"Oh five oh so sons. That moment i have done a bunch of okay. Maybe i don't want to see a bunch but say i've done maybe three or four. Yeah that's probably that's probably right. Three or four solo adventures like solo little mini trips. Even in aruba twice. I rented like a little house on the other side of the island. Somewhere by the water and it just went to stay for a couple days by myself. And i really struggled doing that especially the first time it was something i felt like okay. I need to do this for myself. Care i need the space. This time to be alone and i felt so guilty. I mean i felt so overwhelmingly guilty saying goodbye to laya. Who had wanna say goodbye to him. You know it's so hard to say. Goodbye your kid no matter how much you want space from them. It's like you want to be with them all the time you know. It's really hard to say goodbye to her. And then saying goodbye to dennis and trying to make sure he figures everything out being alone and food and you know. There's a lot of. I wear a lot of hats in this family. Like it's it's hard for me to just can't just up and leave right. There was a lot of planning that went into that. And then the moment i got to that house remember feeling wake was dark. It was a little scary. I was like what's the point. Why did i. Why did i come all the way here. Just some stranger's house like an airbnb somewhere. When i have this perfect home with the perfect family that i could be on the couch with right now you know. Why did i do this. And then all it took every time was one night's sleep alone like completely alone where i decide everything that happens where i set myself up for that sleep in my way doing what i need really able to tune into my own needs verses having the antenna always listening to what does everybody else needs. Lay okays then as are the dogs. Okays the business okay. Is the house. Okay you know. Is rachel okay like i never really asked myself that question and wait to listen for the answer. I just make sure everybody's okay. And then i would have bet you know right collapse and bet in the night. I don't sleep. Well and then i would wake up after that first night and just the sun is shining. Had a good night's sleep. No one's asking me any questions like practice..

"Everyone this. Is allan shark and welcome to another episode of shark bites where we have some really great conversations with tech leaders across the country. This morning is no exception. We're going to be talking with leah. Mcgrath who is the executive director of a new group called state ramp so laya. Welcome to the program thank you. It's a pleasure to be with you. Allen great well i have been kind of an observer of fed ramp and i know there's a connection which we're going to get to but we always start with. How did you get to where you are. We're fascinated in this program with careers and some people's a straight line. I wanted to be this. Got there others like me and others. We've interviewed it's like the weirdest route but it all makes sense when you look back to tell us. How did she get to where you were when you woke up one morning. Did you wanna be like the doctor. The lawyer the airline pilot or heading a major technology initiative. That's right Such a great question. And i would say my path has been like a scribbler line on a paper so i don't know that i repeat it and certainly didn't predict it but i graduated from pretty diversity and i actually started their in engineering and then came out with all sorts of different degrees In communication and and political science and had a real passion for public policy. So i guess this is the world of technology in public policy coming together for me with state ramp but have spent the last twenty years working in or around state and local government. Most recently served for about five years as deputy mayor for the city of fishers indiana at a time that we were transitioning from town to a city and in the last decade between working with the city Also worked with the municipal league here in indiana and the state of indiana on mod modernization efforts. So i kept finding myself back in technology whether it was. How do we delivered digital service for constituents. How do we protect that. And how do we modernized. And continually do more so Having a chance to be a part of the state ramp initiative for the past year has just been I i feel very very fortunate to have had a chance to be a part of it to learn from her steering committee members to now be launching state ramp here today

"Karch. It's was made to be that way. Because god wanted me to hear him in the air. He don't want me to read a man maids Holy books when they translate those holy holy scripts They will change it. The whole time. in the way a man is thinking so it's going wrong many things inside low totally books and the more they translate the the more error there is so. That's what i got that. I should listen to god in the air and notably some to him in in books. I could use books. But only for i do it when i i have a question from a person can go and see if i could get anything from from a book about that. I wanted to read a small part of a page. So that's everything everything i talk about to. You is what i have heard from. God in the air in the if there is some Some words that. I am saying that sounds like that's in the bible that seen the book the holy book like that. That's a is not that. I know it but god give me the same text as it is in those holy books is not me that no it god have given me. And that's what they saved. Many times. I i say to them. I don't know where i got it for that. That's i don't know today. That god the place it into my brain to turn the papal days a porch. That is the same as in the bible or in the in the koran or other holy books it can happen but i have not studied among read.

LazyLedger: Layer One Data Availabilty and Consensus Solution

"And said a Great Intro Too Lazy Ledger. Before we go into kind of. Details, from Lazy, Ledger. Curious like. What are you guys want the impact of Lazy that you to be? As I mentioned right they leisure is basically I think Leger. As a very basic layer one. I, would call it the minimum viable Laon. So if you strip back canal one to his Co. components and may the scalable as possible using existing technology? Leases that your? So. Effectively, license in simple times is basically a blockchain where people can dump arbitrary data onto it. And that data gets ordered. And the consensus don't care or process what data is. And so you says basically a blockchain for dumping data on anew and the data gets ordered. And you can use these primitive to build an all kinds of applications and blockchain's. Now. What this is really useful for what has impact for I guess to explain the overall kind of vision. is as follows. So when Bitcoin came about. The kind of vision for Bitcoin was. August technical architecture for Bitcoin was that. It was using a blockchain. For one purpose of of what application and the application is cryptocurrency payments will store value depending on who you talk to you. So it's basically a single packers blockchain. Then Came about. The idea of was Let's actually create General Pecos blockchain. where he can for every application. That kind of general purpose virtual machine where people can upset spot contracts. So those architectural visions various talk. To each other. The same time there was tenement antenna tenement was more similar to bitcoin vision. When I get tenement is that allows you to create your blockchain for your application. So until the moment, basically he wanted to a application on blockchain. This early really to waste that. The best way to do that is use a shed, his execution environment or shed computer like cerium. You code up your spot contract applets Small contracts runs on this team. guess machine the same chain as everyone else to spot contract. And thus basically the willed compute model and I, see him kind of create. The the problem with that is that. The city of Belgium sheet is very limited. In. Terms of what you can deploy on. and has very high gusts Bills Applications that the the investment machine does not native these sports success, for example, complicated catastrophe or. Perfect proofs that have native guilty and functional team, Edm. So if you WANNA, do that for the build more complicated applications. that. Support you have to basically build your own blockchain using something like tenement. But the problem with Tenement is the problem. GUESS THE DRAWBACK OF TEN DEMANDS, east? that. or any kind of he's in order to create your own blockchain does a huge overhead for creating your book convoked increasing bushing. Because you also wouldn't you create your book chain. You also have to create your own they for that book share, you have to quit your consensus later. And that consensus layer nowadays yeezy based on of stake, which is what tended provides for you. And to do takes a lot of work. You have to, for example, credit to. Make distributed decentralized may have to make sure there's evaluators until unsafe oils. So what in lesion is that as your provides A modular plug -able Laya one. That does nothing. But consensus on data visibility. Layer one that least Fischler one does not do smart contracts execution. Later they want basically those core things that they went dos and nothing else. And that makes it very useful as applicable a one. For people that want to create the earn chains, but don't want to go to the overhead of having to create a consensus network. Instead they can simply plug lays ledger in.

As the Skywalker saga wraps up, what's next for Star Wars?

"I'm Matt Bellamy Filling in for Kim Masters and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me. Is Lucas shot of Bloomberg and Lucas. I want to talk a little bit about Star Wars here because we've got the final installment of these so-called Skywalker Saga heading into theaters this weekend. The rise of skywalker and it's an interesting interesting test case here because it's going to do huge box office the you know. The predictions are between one. Seventy five and two hundred million but this this one is kind of getting pummeled by the critics. And they're focusing on this issue of Fan Service and the safe route and basically basically highlighting the fact that star wars is not really a movie. It's just a franchise that needs to check box. In order to perpetuate wait itself and I saw the film and I kind of agree. I feel like there's no way to win with these with the star wars franchise right now because you. You have these diehard fans who have certain expectations for the movie and if you try to satisfy them you're probably going to alienate the mass moviegoing audience and and it's also a reflection of Disney owning. Where they just you know. They want the franchise to make a lot of money. Yes they wanted to be creatively successful and all that. But the goal is to justify why they spent four billion dollars on Lucas film They've done that. It is probably the most over analyzed hit movie franchise where every movie makes more than a billion billion five but creatively and it has left a lot of people asking for more And they've tended to just sort of retail the stories stories from the original movies. And that's also what you're GONNA get. Frankly when you put a guy like J.J. Abrams in charge of the franchise. He's not somebody known for coming up with them whole new world he's been a very capable steward of existing intellectual property for ten fifteen years though right and they hired him to direct force awakens. which in two thousand fifteen relaunched the franchise? Chai's and was considered a big success. They then went in a bit of a divergent. Way For the last Jedi which came out two years ago and was is a critical hit but some of the hardcore star wars fan boys did not like some of the creative choices and said that you know it was taking the franchise in a different direction and it obviously made a ton of money but then they bring back J.J. Abrams for this new installment and it is back to the same old. You know hitting all the notes oats remaking the third movie of the of the Star Wars Franchise Return of the Jedi in a new and modern form and the point. Here just seems to be to wrap it all all up. Hit all the notes. And then they're going to figure out what star wars means for movies in the future because they have this very successful show on Disney plus the first TV. TV Show in the Star Wars Live Action Universe the mandatory and that is doing well and people seem to like but these three stores movies have not set up the franchise which is for the future and the question they have now is what is star wars moving forward. Yeah I expect that they'll take some time off and figure you're out of a full plan kind of Disney has done with with the marvel movies where you know five ten fifteen years into the future. These are going to be the movies. These are GonNa be the T. the TV shows. And I assume or at least I hope that both die hard star wars fans and the general public would be happy to see them. Take some risks and do I mean not that the mandatory in is a huge risk but they took characters and worlds that had been unexplored and really blew them up and that gives you a lot more room for creativity than trying to bring back Luke Skywalker and Laya or Taliban solo origin stories. Although the original characters people have firm ideas of who they are and if you try to keep reinventing that that becomes dangerous whereas we're Marvel's had a lot of success is taking the characters that were not as well known blowing them up in contrast contrast with DC which is definitely had a hard time making everybody. Happy with Superman and Batman and those that are really well known we will see a post Skywalker Star Wars. Thank thank you.

He, She, They: Workplaces Adjust As Gender Identity Norms Change

"A lot of Americans are using gender pronouns differently this is pretty simpler was in the past she him her but many people are acing what they see as a more inclusive way of speaking using gender neutral pronouns like they and them for people who are gender non binary and don't associate had to be binary in order to get care and that that was enforced by the medical community the legal community and so on and then there were the in appropriate questions from co workers everybody wonders what's in our pants nowhere does this get more personal than the bathroom for transgender populations bathrooms this is associated with uncomfortable staring harassment and even violence they've also been at the center of political controversy three years ago north thing other than male or female the idea of being gender neutral or part one part the other felt like fit so Byron who's twenty four some employers are already shifting policies United Airlines gives customers the option to identify as non binary when booking tickets retirement company t this is breaking some rule norms about gender have been changing studies show more people especially young people identify as something other than male or female princes from old jobs might be unaware of new name or gender identity and often Jacobs says employer health insurance requires a person to choose you has to deal with Chen start right from the application process employment forms for example often include only to check boxes male or female rough forty percent men forty percent women and twenty percent flexible including non binary people and Brown the firm's director of global diversity and inclusion and some workers themselves are making changes doing things like including their pronouns on business cards in email signatures that can raise eyebrows and sometimes co workers don't understand alright jacobs identifies as either he she or they jacobs says the workplace is still a very gendered place challenging moments that the person I a instructed employees to introduce themselves to clients with their preferred pronouns the law firm Baker McKenzie earlier this year benchmark at staffing targets came out as gender non binary to friends three years ago Byron wanted to be referred to in the third person as they or them as in they meaning Dan the pronouns are referring to Laura Jacobs and New York psychotherapist says these changes are new and somewhat rare how to handle non binary people still something Oh Byron realized dressing up as Princess Laya was unconventional for a boy it wasn't until young adulthood that Byron I encountered the concept that someone could identify remain a hot button issue for employers and for Co workers who don't feel comfortable sharing bathrooms with transgender people Marson is director of Human Resources Mary the new employer had no problem with it and hired Byron but being out at work commenced fielding endless questions from colleagues is this really a thing how can Tiran asked their friends to honor their wish but they didn't feel comfortable asking the same of people at work out very supportive trend group and then I would sort of lineup passed a law requiring people to use bathrooms corresponding to their assign gender at birth that law was struck down but mark Marcin says bathroom Zhen says the policy is designed to reflect the shifting demographics these prospective policies and as we go forward we know we have non binary colleagues go to work and I would not think about that part of myself that changed two years ago after Byron applied for a teaching job in New York a reference outed Byron as non that I don't think most of the players really have a sense for how to handle Jacobs Councils many transgender and non binary individuals personally jacobs identifies as both that's in the process he was also educating himself about the sensitivities of people who are gender non binary are quote unquote forced myself to go allies for health and well being a community health clinic he recently participated in an online discussion with other HR executives about making the workplace gender neutral good sixty if not more percent other the conversation was about bathrooms at the time Marcin says he was rethinking his company's restroom policies into the what was the women's bathroom and I realized it doesn't matter Marcin realized a bathroom is just little pronoun refer to one person as well as more invasive personal inquiries I think people feel really intensive outta especially feel like how can this be can this be bathroom he ended up relabeling them simply restroom and restroom urinals from a worker's perspective this change can signal acceptance for in many do not and for Byron things like restroom labels and dress codes become a litmus test for how their manager might react how strictly masculinity might be forced but changing long held gender paradigm isn't easy the terms used by non binary people can be difficult to understand in fact it can be using even for people who identify as Non Binary Take Me Shapiro to Piro prefers they and them pronouns but this is where it gets complicated

4 Reasons to Use a Blog to Build A Brand

"I think of blogging now or any kind of online activity, I'm thinking of the next five to ten years at least because that's how brands built so with a blog, you know, that your going to have that block for the next five ten years, and let's be honest. It's not going aware and while new software platforms and saw might come out. People are still always going to want to read. So I am almost think of the long term. The next reason why you need to build a long-term Brown with a blog is ownership. So if you think of the internet as layers, so let's say laya one is what you build a blog on top. Of that's layer one. It's also the same layer that mocks bug and EV Williams built Facebook in Twitter on so Facebook is built on top of layer one Twitter is built on top of layer worn when you create a Facebook page or an Instagram profile, or when you create a Twitter handle your building on their lead to that's what they own you don't own that. But when you build a website when you build a blog, you're building on top of layer one. So that essentially means that your competitor to Facebook, you're building a competing product for eyeballs to Facebook. Now that might sound a bit ridiculous given the size of Facebook. But it is the more people that build their platforms on top of layer one the more competition Facebook has essentially or Instagram or Twitter or YouTube and so on so with les warn, you have the ownership with laya to you don't own any of that any algorithm change, and he changed with terms of service. And you know, you can be out of there. We've seen that already. It's old news really the Facebook algorithm that has just completely dissipated. Now, you look if you get one percent reach it's all paid for whereas four five years ago, you could get like sixty seventy percent reach. So the amount of money that was spent on building those Facebook pages. And now they just worth nothing is just kind of makes the point really. So that's the reason number two ownership reason. Number three, why you want to build a long-term brand with a blog is you can essentially build your own media empire. Let's call it a mini media empire because now with blogs blogs and just about the written word anymore. You can integrate podcast you integrate, videos, the great for imagery. And with what press where the vast majority of blogs, the built on these days, it's changed so much. So as I mentioned two thousand and five when I first started my own WordPress blog now, what price is a completely different animal now. To what it used to be back then too much more functional. It's much more easy to understand this more features more plug ins and so on and with web press. Now, you can have your own mini media empire. That's yours. And you can do whatever you want with it. I know what press Brady. Well, I know for a fact that I can build a publication using WordPress. You know, if I had journalists and people writing for I could easily build very robust media publication that is built for such engines and Bill for social sharing and so on, but it's it's getting the right as that's the most difficult part for me anyway, and even some publications the New York Times used to use what press for their blogging section. Whether they do know, I don't know. I think they use their own proprietary software. But for a long time, they use what press, but there are different companies now like vox, vox media. They've got their own proprietary software publishing software that they use. But again for a long time WordPress was used tech crunch huge blog. Well, it's immediate publications not blog. It started off as blog. But now, it's a media publication. And they still use WordPress. Marshall, Bill more press still is on WordPress. So the tools are at your disposal to create your own mini media empire. So why would you want to build on top of Instagram? Why would you wanna build and spend all that money on top of linked in like, yes, use them? But don't kind of depend a hundred percent on them. The next reason why you want to build a long-term brand using a blog is content. So what's the half life of tweet, maybe twenty four hours if it goes viral, or if it gets a bit of traction, usually a couple of hours if that the vast majority tweets have a half-life of maybe an hour or two hours, depending on who's tweeting, and what kind of content is and so on, but they don't last very long. Let's be honest and then not meant to either. And again, like a Facebook post Facebook post don't really have any kind of traction. The literally don't really get seen much at all. So the half life again Noverre long and Instagram post twenty four hours, maybe a bit more. Again, that depends on who's publishing it with a blog, you can have content that can last you for not just days, not just weeks or even months, you can have content that less you for years. And if you can write a blog post that gets a lot of visibility gets a lot of traction, maybe people see it and share it in. It's a ridge it'll than that blog posts can repay you for months and years in such

"When your stocks go down. However, that doesn't always happens. We just saw especially if interest rates are going up bonds tend to go down. So really it didn't make sense to have bonds in two thousand eighteen I don't know about nineteen. Some people think interest rates are going to continue to rise. I'm not sure probably funds will be better than they were a eighteen but still not the ideal asset class. As far as I'm concerned. So a lot of people agree with me. And they're like, well what else can we do that won't necessarily go down at the stock market's down, but will still give me a chance to make some income or some growth. So there's some alternatives that I think are getting much much more attractive, especially as people have seen that traditional stock pond. Mixed doesn't always work and one of those is real estate now real estate has done very very well over long, periods of time real estate has some great tax advantages. It provides income a lot of it depending on the kind of rules that you get he gives you the ability to get a check each month. You can reinvest those dividends depending on the time. The kind of real estate that you're investing in and over long periods of time, depending on your measure of it real estate's actually outperform stocks over certain time periods, and it also tends to have less volatility, especially if you buy private real estate now if you buy public real estate. Laya publicly traded read that tends to have just as much volatility as a stock. You really getting premium for a publicly traded real estate by issue. What kind of real estate would you rather own real estate that you could sell at a moment's notice or real estate that is a little less liquid? He asked to find a buyer. You have to maybe pay a commission. There's some transaction costs. You would say I'd rather be able to sell my real estate right away. If I needed to of course, everybody would rather have something as liquid the non liquid all things being equal liquids better. But the problem is people are willing to pay more for liquidity, right? People are willing to say. All right. Well, I'll take a lesser return. If I know I could sell whenever I want to sell and get my money back. Right. So the yields on publicly traded real estate isn't as good as the yields and private real estate. And so you have to ask yourself. What's more important? So I wanna make more money and make more income or I want to Billy to cash it out. Out and spend it or do something with it at a moment's notice. And that's something that everyone has to make that decision for themselves. But typically if you're an investor, and you're trying to either grow money for the future or you're trying to get income to live. You don't really need to cash that money out. So I would rather get real estate that has less liquidity that pays me a higher return. But obviously, that's something. Everyone has to decide for themselves now public the real estate is very easy..
