"And it was an exclusive show. The syndicated show that we did with Jim Ross just keeping the train on the tracks and Paulie dangerously referencing New York. So the show wouldn't play well outside of New York because nobody would know what I'm talking about. Right. But what I'm sitting there and I'm talking about, you know, these two are in competition like. Two dragsters going down queens boulevard. Or you know, hey, you know, they not only got a Nathan's hot dog on Coney Island, but you know, hey, they each had two conditions. And outside of New York, I don't know how many people. If you live in New York, you know what a condition is. I mentioned famous, you know, catches delicatessen. We're big Nick's pizza on the upper west side. Or people come to New York now and they know they know about nobu. You know, but they know about mister chow because these are world famous brands. If you live in New York, you would know about tani 52, which was just the sushi spot backpack in the late 80s and early 90s. So. WCW always wanted me to get more and more publicity in New York, which is why we did, we did an event with Lawrence Taylor in the Meadowlands, which was the night that Ric Flair regained the title from sting. In the middle of a blizzard, we used Lawrence Taylor against an opposing corner against me in the Meadowlands. As the Giants were getting into the playoffs against the Chicago Bears led by Mike Ditka. This was when LT warrants Taylor was the biggest board star in New York. So I was at the China club all the time on Monday nights. And anyone was there, I was the, I was the guy, you know, I was, hey, you know, you know what, we got to have you meet Paul, you know? Okay, and the office was the place the funniest place. The funny thing is, it wasn't that it wasn't that great to hang out inside the China club by the bar or the main area. On a Monday night, the place to be was the office. That's where everybody hung out. And Michael Jordan was hanging out at the same time. I was hanging out. And the photographer, the China club, the gentleman named Dominic condi, who was just a fabulous photographer said, I gotta get you guys together. And I said, okay, you know, and then we're just shook into a schmoozing about some common friends that we had in Chicago. For a moment and then when I said, oh, Dominic wants to take a picture and then boom, we just kind of had the idea of going back to back and with me doing this about it. All there he is than I am. That's great. That is great. I appreciate it. Michael Jordan was a wannabe Paul Heyman guy. Yeah, he came to meet you in the back. It's like very Sopranos ish. Like in the back of the bada Bing or something like that. I have the meeting with Tony. I am the wise man.

"NFL this morning as defensive lineman JJ watt has announced via social media that he will retire after this season. It's Patrick to the air wide open touchdown and it's JJ watt. That is the touchdown. This guy can do it all Audio courtesy of CBS and that was watt catching a touchdown pass against the former Oakland Raiders back in 2014, but he was well known for what he could do to opposing offenses. He spent a majority of his career with the Texans after he was drafted in the first round in 2011 and in the first 5 seasons of his career, he amassed 74 and a half sacks. That was the most in that span since Lawrence Taylor in 1982, he was a three time defensive player of the year and is just one of three players to win that award three times, along with Lawrence Taylor and Aaron Donald. He has also been voted as a first team all pro member 5 times and was a nightmare to deal with for offenses and made a huge impact on the field, but he made just as big of an impact off the field after Hurricane Harvey devastated the city of Houston in 2017, he helped raise $41.6 million in relief efforts. This was through his foundation, the JJ watt foundation, and that was just within the year. Now he is a sure fire Hall of Famer and is regarded as one of the greatest defensive players of all time. He writes on Twitter, quote, my heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It's been an absolute honor and a pleasure. He'll play his last ever game against the San Francisco forty-niners. At the sports desk, Stephen Langford K CBS. Is there something really absurd that schemes you out? Getting a paper cut on my eyeball. I fear you can't

Matt Harvey's MLB Career Is Over
"There's a new story now, Matt Harvey, who was a great pitcher for the mets. They called him The Dark Knight. And he's now involved in this death of a California angels pitcher who was taken percocet and did Coke and Harvey happen to be there. Harvey happened to give him the pills and this guy ODed and Harvey's career is basically over. Because you look back on his days as it met when he didn't show up for spring training when he had a fight with a teammate when he left, but he needed to get out of a game early. You go, wait, those are cocaine moments. You recognize that now, some of us saw that stuff happening and said, he's on, he's on blow, man. I can tell. I knew when Doc gooden was getting high as it met. But Coke game was all around us in the 80s in New York, especially in New York. We had our athletes alone, Lawrence Taylor, Michael ray Richardson, Doc gooden, Dallas strawberry, Keith Hernandez, his career was almost room because he couldn't shake cocaine. Mike Tyson, of course, everywhere. But this fall of Matt Harvey's has been quick and steep.

"I get to go <Speech_Male> first. Ok make <Speech_Male> your picks <Speech_Male> i am going to take. <Speech_Male> I'm going to take <Speech_Male> new england at home. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> A three point favorite. <Speech_Male> I only have to give up three <Speech_Male> at home <Speech_Male> for new <Speech_Male> england. <Speech_Male> I know the <Speech_Male> saints will probably bounce <Speech_Male> back but Jameis <Speech_Male> winston is <Speech_Male> still showing signs <Speech_Male> jameis. Winston i'll <Speech_Male> take new england minus <Speech_Male> three. I'm <Speech_Male> going to take las vegas <Speech_Male> minus the three <Speech_Male> and a half <Speech_Male> even more <Speech_Male> bolstered by the news. <Speech_Male> That jacoby perset <Speech_Male> will begin. Start at quarterback <Speech_Male> over <Speech_Male> to a who's <Speech_Male> out with the <SpeakerChange> injury <Silence> and <Speech_Male> was <Speech_Male> a little bit of trepidation. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I'm gonna. I'm <Speech_Male> gonna buy into the <Speech_Male> cowboys. I'm <Speech_Male> probably going to regret this. <Speech_Male> But i'll take dallas master <Speech_Male> four <Speech_Male> all right. Well that's why. I'm going <Speech_Male> to start. Because i'm going to go up <Speech_Male> on you. <Speech_Male> I'm going to take the eagles <Speech_Male> getting four <Speech_Male> points. I think <Speech_Male> it's going to be a really close <Speech_Male> battle. Nfc <Speech_Male> east battle. <Speech_Male> I wouldn't be surprised <Speech_Male> if the cowboys win. <Speech_Male> But the cowboys gonna cowboy. <Speech_Male> They'll find <Speech_Male> a way to keep <Speech_Male> you in the game <Speech_Male> Like i said <Speech_Male> the eagles are big <Speech_Male> powerful front. <Speech_Male> I like the <Speech_Male> eagles <Speech_Male> With the four point. <Speech_Male> So i don't know <Speech_Male> the win but i think they're <Speech_Male> going to cover that game <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> And then i <Speech_Male> am going to. <Speech_Male> Gosh i really wanted <Speech_Male> to get on the broncos <Speech_Male> but ten and a half is <Speech_Male> just too many points <Speech_Male> for me. So i'm <Speech_Male> going to bypass <Speech_Male> that but i will take <Speech_Male> the cardinals <Speech_Male> over the jaguars <Speech_Male> seven <Speech_Male> and a half points <Speech_Male> cardinals <Speech_Male> dynamic. <Speech_Male> You can't get that little <Speech_Male> mouse <Speech_Male> guy down the place. <Speech_Male> <hes> quarterback for them <Speech_Male> collar murray. So i'm going <Speech_Male> to go in that direction <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> With them <Speech_Male> and then <Speech_Male> ultimately <Speech_Male> i think lastly <Speech_Male> here <Speech_Male> This is a <Speech_Male> big spread but <Speech_Male> the chargers <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Male> being the cowboys going <Speech_Male> to cow. Well i think the charges <Speech_Male> are going to charge her <Speech_Male> chiefs <Speech_Male> six minus <Speech_Male> six and a i liked the <Speech_Male> chiefs. I like the <Speech_Male> chiefs to kind of bounce <Speech_Male> back. They've had <Speech_Male> a loss they've <Speech_Male> had to really close <Speech_Male> games were defensively. <Speech_Male> They've given up twenty <Speech_Male> nine and thirty. What <Speech_Male> six points respectively. <Speech_Male> In back <Speech_Male> to back weeks <Speech_Male> i think. They tightened down <Speech_Male> the screws. Little bit <Speech_Male> I think <Speech_Male> offensively. They're still <Speech_Male> as productive as there always <Speech_Male> are. I think <Speech_Male> they'll Hamstring <Speech_Male> charges a little bit. <Speech_Male> I like them to cover <Speech_Male> that spread. <Silence> So i've got the chiefs <Speech_Male> of <Speech_Male> got the <Speech_Male> opposite of you <Speech_Male> on the eagles <Speech_Male> over the cowboys. <Speech_Male> And i got the cards <Speech_Male> beaten. <Speech_Male> Jags all right. <Speech_Male> I don't care if they <Speech_Male> beat the jags. <SpeakerChange> All <Silence> i know is i just want to be you. <Speech_Male> Well <Silence> i mean. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> can understand that <Speech_Male> after the <Speech_Male> but weapon i put on <Speech_Male> you last <Speech_Male> in the <Speech_Male> picks against the spread <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> even <Speech_Male> was so altruistic. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I mean this is how <Speech_Male> gracious i am. <Speech_Male> I purposely went <Speech_Male> over three <Speech_Male> in week. One. i'll <Speech_Male> give <Speech_Male> you a huge lead <Speech_Male> new hot snap. I'm <Speech_Male> already really new <Speech_Male> in. This already <Speech_Male> really knew. It's <Speech_Male> funny to me. <Speech_Male> The guy who loves <Speech_Male> to post videos <Speech_Male> where he's wearing all <Speech_Male> of his super bowl rings <Speech_Male> as the <Speech_Male> ultimate testament <Speech_Male> to winning when it <Speech_Male> matters the <Speech_Male> fact that i kicked <Silence> your ass in the <Speech_Male> playoffs <Speech_Male> last year and the <Speech_Male> picks <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> now all of a sudden you're <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> like well look at me mr regular <Silence> <Advertisement> season guy. <Speech_Male> No <SpeakerChange> response <Speech_Male> right now. Yeah <Speech_Male> you got you gave <Speech_Male> for everybody. <Speech_Male> Everybody <Speech_Male> thought <Speech_Male> for everybody <Speech_Male> has been a part <Speech_Male> of the stick of truth. <Speech_Male>

"Quarterbacks to understand studied the coverage and what they're getting where to go with the football and at the same time no we're all five eligible are at all times where they should be and based on what you see on the front side knowing the timing of the play. I don't like it. Let me get to the backside. It's not they're not covered The guys that were supposed to be let me get it my check down right now and and he does that he. He's got that sense of timing in his head and again i don't know if that's just been. He's been coached all that time. Or just really. It just makes sense to him. Well that's new england and the saints Game of the week bar none tampa bay and the rams and are the rams ready to win this kind of a game or is this the kind of matchup that if it happened. Six eight ten weeks from now. Maybe it'd be different but maybe the rams right now aren't ready to to beat this version of the box. Yes great question. It is is a great question They jump out to a big lead. And then you end up getting kind of real back into the end and still win the game against indianapolis book. I you know it's at home right. It's in it's in los angeles this is going to be. This is going to be interesting. Because here's the thing that i think is benefits. The rams. The rams and john mcveigh have this. It's the the illusion of complexity or it's the illusion of spread. And they wanna make you feel like they're this big time spread football team. We're just gonna you check it all around the barnyard. When really sean mcvay it is at his core comes from kind of. There's a lot of mike shanahan. We're going to run the snow the ball and we're in a cramped down your throat or setup. All the play action. Well interestingly enough your face and tampa team that historically over the last couple of years they don't let you run the ball on them. It's not what they do. And so it'll be very interesting if the rams can establish that run and be and i'm not talking about you know six yards carry. Let's gash him. But i'm saying can we get our twenty two to twenty five runs. Can we average three and a half four yards a carry. Can we open up all that crossing stuff in the flood route concepts on one side you know. Can we get the boot keep game going. Can we do some of those things to create some explosives for matthew stafford. I think those are the things that intrigued me about this matchup. So you and. I have a friendly debate about you. You insist. aaron. Donald is the best football player. Correct in the nfl. And i always like mark it. It's always going to be a quarterback. So he's going to be a quarterback because of the importance in the nature of the position. And how the league bills everything around the quarterback. So would you agree then. Would you give me this when a guy like aaron. Donald is going up against tom brady. This is a game where aaron donald has to wreck the game to show that he truly is the best player in football. Yeah i think that's a think it's a really good statement mike. I just don't think even if he doesn't like the game like he's recommend the rams win the game if he doesn't if he doesn't right. Oh okay i don't. I think i think that you know you can play great. You know one things. The rams historically have been at least last year's is they'll let you pick them apart they'll let you throw it underneath it at you. Know four five yards a clip They just realized that at some point during the course of that drive it takes you twelve plays aaron donald gonna wreck one of them you know and then paget grams. You're gonna get pick or knocked down or whatever and so they they really they really play into that kind of philosophical approach to to the game. The thing that's interesting to me is that you can really take advantage of their just pin years back in rush the passer attitude that the rams play with but you have to their certain plays you have to be able to run to take advantage of and and when you when you look at bruce arians and tampa. I mean they're gonna they're gonna play gaps can play twenty to do. Oh there's gonna try to get double teams across the board and say are big guys are going to beat your big guys up and we're gonna get forward and full forward for four yards and every now and again your linebackers gonna get lost pop inside my gonna go outside and that four yard game becomes a twelve yard or twenty yard gain. That's kind of how they play When you plan a guy like donald. I want him up field. I want to invite him up field. I want to invite him up. Field and trap him. I wanna invite him up filling withdraw and run something right underneath them. Like i really like. Obviously you can put that in. You can install it but at what cost when you're installing something new that you're not really running very much do you. en- do your players really understand the nuance of that. Play right his you can steal it from other teams and teams do this all. The time they steal plays.

"Mike how are you buddy. I'm doing good i am. I am fascinated by the opportunity. You have this week because you know you you move around the nfl. You've called a bunch of games. You got a chance to be around a lot of teams a lot of coaches but one coach and one team. You have yet to be around that you will be around this week. Bill belichick and the patriots. Are you kinda what what are you. Are you curious. Fascinated little nervous about going into a new england. I am more. I'm not. I would say nervous. I don't know that that's the right term. Apper not apprehensive or nervous. Because there's sort of been a mystique riled up over the years about you know how they do things there. I guess i'm curious. I'm curious so i have a history. Obviously i played against bill. Belichick coach teams Back in my nfc east as when he was the coordinator with the new york. Giants and i was a player for washington. Would you call them today. Wolfed the wolf just with with anyhow And so we've got a history there that goes all the way back to the late eighties. And then Actually played for him in a pro bowl. He was coaching with the jets and bill. Parcells wouldn't travel and go to hawaii so he was the kind of pro bowl head coach for the jet staff so i played four him there And i've covered the league forever. So i don't yeah i haven't i haven't ever actually to the best of my knowledge of never actually had a one on one conversation with the guy and you know and it's funny because my producer at fox berry landis berries had is the many new england games over the course of his career and he's always like bill is awesome. When you're talking anything but football like anything other than the game. I i shouldn't say football. You wanna talk about navy football. You wanna talk about the history of football. You wanna talk about lawrence taylor the giants you. You went to any of that stuff he is. He is chatty cathy. You start talking about specific questions about game planning and what the game's going on and you're going to get football football. You know you're gonna get that you're going to get the bill belichick standard. I'm not gonna tell you anything. Answer and so. I'm just interested to see how that flow chart goes. You know like how you start off meeting like do you start off. Yeah obviously you start off with introductions and stuff. You can't just jump right into asking him questions. Now you gotta play on your history between washington the giants. I think you start there. Like oh man. I'll tell you what i i literally used to pee. My pants when i was staring across it lawrence. Taylor you gotta tell them how you call mr taylor. Yeah talk about icebreaker right. Because he's one of his all time favorite right all time favorite players right. You tell them you call mr taylor. All you'll have him eating out of the palm of your hand. I probably should tell them that. The the story of when we put encounter outside so we were big. We were big counter team. You know in washington we counter and so if you're playing you know if you're in a right hand formation you run seventy seven counter. I'm screaming down. The line of scrimmage you know pulling from my i was right guard at that time right gar all the way. Down the line of scrimmage and you're just blowing them up and you knew like you knew he's froth at the bid down there line like you peak out of the corner of your eye you know you try not to tip your hand like i'm trying not to let the defense no what i'm doing right and you're like oh gosh here. We go and you knew deep down inside. Hi this is gonna hurt me a lot more. It's gonna hurt him. You go streaming down. The line of scrimmage is try to blow him up and he just unquote on you right and which is like all and you know and it didn't feel good right. It was nice. And you hope the back cut up inside and you get a couple of yards. So you know the coaches noticed. You know how how lawrence just absolutely shortens people's necks. So here's what we're gonna do. Up screaming analyze. Scrimmage like we always do right at that point of impact slip him scope pop outside of him and tackle who's pulling behind encounter cuts him puts him on the ground. We pop up and then you take over the forces. So it's the safety rolling down if it's the corner force so now all of sudden i don't have to hit lawrence taylor i slip him and i get a go up to the second level and get myself a safety. Sounds pretty good right. you know. Avoid a collision right next to say the same length right. I'm like all right. I'm in his lawsom. So i go screen online surveys lawrence taylor at the bit. I slipped him. Joe jacobi cuts in a roll up to the safety. We get like a fifteen yard gain counter outside. I'm like yes easy. This is great. I'm walking back to the huddle and he is. I mean he steaming and he screams. Hey hey got a few choice words. He's calling me right and he's just like if you ever run that play again so kill.

I know businesses business. And i know that tees need to be crossed is daughter eventually but it seems like i mean there's a holden going he is not participating in team drills. It appears that he is having a hold in. He's not holding out. He's there but he's not all there and he's not there to the point where the steelers like if you don't practice you don't play and also like we don't give guaranteed money past the first year contract as you heard mike florio to say. Look what one of these are defensive. Player the your candidate. He's clearly your best player on defense. He's clearly somebody you have to have for. That's why he's holding cards but no are cards that we hold as we don't do it that way here will tough and i'm like let it doesn't compute again. I'm not there. i don't. I'm not in the negotiation. I don't know what he's asking for. You get asked for like way too much. He could be asking for the ultimate moon and look i. I understand go this certain way. But you can't sit here and say the reason why we're not doing. It's not the way we do it. Bill belichick told the story on the set of the nfl. One hundred with lawrence taylor sitting right there on the set on the nfl. one hundred all time team shaw. I've told the story before. I'm gonna tell it again right here right now. He told a story about lawrence taylor being late for a meeting. Bill was the defensive coordinator of the new york football giants. He told cells after the meeting. I just want to let you know. Lawrence taylor was late for today's meeting. And what was parcells response. Was it like art. I gotta sit down. I gotta talk to nope art. It's just like i can't believe it happened again. Like just gimme one. Just tell me. The next time. At his answer was wide. You start the meeting without him. Par cells to bella check. Because there's only one lawrence taylor who know anybody else comes up and says hey coach you started the meeting late for lawrence. But you don't do it for me. The answers you're not lawrence taylor done. I don't understand why other operations can't operate that way. Jimmy johnson shared the same theory about troy. Aikman remembered dallas players. But i promise you. I just want this guy to be mr michigan so bad we have got to be ohio state. Well no and obviously ronnie bell who had an incredible one hand catch waved off because it was offensive pass interference and then that was one of the best catches the i know. "It's not like he moves better and that's not to be disrespectful to tyrod but how much teams realistically game planning. Even for him. Their game plan for a system. They're not game planning for a player. That's how you're doing with them now. When you play like at quarterback when we'd go in and play green bay fr- instance and reggie was on the team it was. We knew what they were going to do. But we spent a lot of time on how we're gonna make sure number ninety two doesn't take over the game right and that's even on a team. And when reggie lined up with two hall of fame offensive lineman a garden tackling random rand mcdaniel gary berman so when we played the giants same way. We knew what they were going to do. They didn't do a ton they lined up and knock the hell adia but we game plan for the giants defense but one guy in particular we had to know. Every snap where lawrence taylor lined up when we played the pittsburgh steelers filthy. Nasty defense everywhere linebackers. That could run it. Beat the piss attia but we had to know because he played safety and corner and he played off the slot. He was a great blitzer. So who'd we have to rod woodson. We had to know where he was too. And when you play dion you gotta know where he not for the physicality part of it. He not tackled many guys but you kind of had no formation wise where you're going to line up because if you wanted to work the field you wanted to make sure you didn't take stupid shots against dion. Because he was such a good cover guy well and then on the other side. When you're a defense listen when we played marino. Yeah how we gonna prevent him from getting the ball out of his hands so quick. With how do we disrupt that. So instead of disrupting marino. You had to make sure we've made a played a little more press man with help over the top. See you could disrupt the receivers timing. Get him off as mark so dan couldn't throw on time. Does that make sense. So while we were game blaming for marino or game plan shifted to make sure. How do we affect marina. The best where you never get to him because he didn't take many sacks. The ball came out so quick so we had to disrupt everybody else because one thing. Dan could never do was moved. Four feet but from the pocket is good as we've ever had and when you played against elway there's a guy game plan against dude. All the other stuff was fine and dandy. But john could kill you in so many ways. You had a game plan against him when you play the kansas city chiefs. They got fifteen weapons but mahomes is the guy at the truth matters all those other web you got a game plan against a bunch of hence why they're always in the super bowl right so that when it comes to hear who who you game planning against brand cooks no no. You're not who were not even the running. Not even the running game game playing against that. Oh you know what it's going to be. There's forecasts that are gonna come and run. And you know. Listen i know that seems like a negative way to go into it but if you really are arresting quote unquote purist a lot of times. When you hear. There's going to be celebrity involvement. The biggest thing you can hope for is just. Don't let it be a disaster and this was anything by right who's excellent. I agree damn good man come on for an outsider to come in and have the performance and lt had absolutely tremendous especially with the omen of the huge pyro. That we have planned for lt which of these giant letters lt that lit up and then shot off all this crazy pyro and everything and the fucking thing fell. It was probably. I don't know maybe twenty feet above the ring and they lower the damn thing we get ready to shove sheet off the pyro to rehearse it and see how it looks and everything first time doing it and you know it's one of those everybody clear back from the rain. We're going to be lowering this. We're going to be shooting pyro. We gotta test us. Make sure it's good. And it hits the fucking i don't know if it was the l. Were the t. One of the letters just drops in crashes in the rain early on. I guess we'll be doing that. Interest tonight next adam that shit down and take it back would i. Yeah loved it. who's excellent. Was dammed a job on. Everyone's part even you. You go back in the football players that we had down there. That were pros. All the way through. Chris spillman class. Just personify ken norton statement michael. They were all every one of them was eight pleasure to work with and happy to be there that i remember them coming up Like the day of or the day before we have in the day before they were all arriving in the lobby of the hotel. And just were just just fucking great but they asked us of. I'm hey I hear you guys have a party after wrestlemainia Do you think we would. We be able to come to that. The parties for you you know and they all came and were just respectful great That was a great crew of people from outside of our business came in appreciated everything. We did and embraced. Let's talk about the show Even though at immediately afterwards you guys are bragging that said all kinds of records on pay per view it fell short. It was down fifteen percent from wrestlemainia ten but the gay was seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Which isn't like double or wrestlemainia. Ten was and in fact. It's the seventh largest gay in america so huge numbers here and the pay per view is actually costing more money so even though we're down fifteen percent when total buys win for twenty nine ninety five to thirty four ninety five so we did get an increase their Do you remember being disappointed. That all this mainstream publicity and press didn't translate to the number of originally hoped it was a little disappointing but at the same time. There was a temporary expectations because looking at l. tea's appeal outside of the new york market. You had to be realistic about it. Yes he was a bad ass football player. He was beloved in new york Bananas football player doesn't translate to the rest of the world this an american spy Yeah but i mean not was enough of a of a celebrity beyond that that we kinda hoped would but at the same time we all kinda had the right. This is going to be good for. This is going to get a lot of outside media in different eyeballs on us into that it did. Was it as big as we hoped. I don't think so as far as featuring the nfl we've certainly seen other opportunities where nfl players got involved and wwe but we haven't seen another nfl player. Headliner wrestlemainia do you think that could ever happen. Is there such a thing as make at this point feels like. Wb is such a global brand. Obviously what's part time. It was primarily north america. But that's a longer the case. And i just think i'll just wonder you know does football translate. Maybe the way basketball or soccer. Some of the other sports i- globally. I don't think it does. But however when you look at the united kingdom and what have you. Football's big deal over there. Yeah i think the rest of the world when the when you say football. They're talking soccer so it doesn't necessarily translate in less. It's a tom brady. Or you know. Peyton manning somebody like that peyton would mean shit right now but a tom brady will. Here's something worth discussing The rumor and innuendo from the observer at the time the idea was that after bigalow put over taylor they would have mutual respect. Bigalow was to turn baby.

Eighty two hundred eighty five pounds right. You know what i mean like. They were big dudes pass. Block and rules were so it didn't really incentivize having these three thirty guys that he came to a now. These guys slimmed down a little bit but lawrence taylor at six four forty five or two fifty. I am bigger faster and stronger than literally everyone who plays my position and i am a maniac right. There has not been a single player since lawrence taylor that you watched and we're just like oh my god. This dude is everywhere. Like i didn't realize this. Did you know that. Joe gibbs invented the h. Back just because it was like we gotta figure out something to do with lawrence. Taylor did not know that. But i would have guessed it like if you ask me. Where did that come about. Probably 'cause lt was killing folk that like you look at. Jj watt who put up twenty-six seizes a four-time defensive player of the year a really good but he did not change the way offense was played. Because you had to figure out something to do. What does one do lawrence taylor out here at every turn just running fascinated by occasionally drop back in coverage might get a pick and take it back to the house and tackling people with imitable style. Where he's bringing his arm over your shoulder right behind. Lt is now wrapping up behind his spinning around. He's trying to break your collarbone. There's like i think i mentioned this on pause. Awhile ago is like. I feel like the next frontier and like really figuring out how to build a team and pick players is fully understanding psychological makeup. Because you've talked about all the things that make lt special in the last thing you said was. He's a maniac. And i feel like that was a real big part of the older who i'm around players in the more. I get an understanding of like people. I think that we focus a lot on these other measurable skills which is fine and we focus on intelligence which is important but the mentality is something that to me feels like cannot be changed enhance certain things but there are some people in certain positions that fit with certain groups and part of that is your makeup. And i know that you can. I've been reading a lot last year. I think about like gene editing and stuff and like they have come to understand that they believe that. Like even like down to whether you're a morning person or you're not a morning person is like your genetic code so like there's gonna come a time when doctors can like determine whatever combination of genes gives you a certain mentality and i like that is going to be like the future of draft analysis was like. Yeah who got that lt dean. Let's by william. Let's also hire an extra coats who were just palm around. How big is with. The g also comes cagey cracking. You gotta figure out like at a level editor. Was one of the highlights of my legal career and my life when I was able to beat her and spend about an hour with her. Wow. Yeah, she's so diminutive, but at the same time so powerful. And I think you know that juxtaposition was a large part of how she became so impactful and why she has such a large voice and you know she was obviously a champion for women's rights. But she was known to say that she wasn't fighting for women's rights, but rather for the equal stature of men and women, and I think that's what advocacy in this space is really all about. Not one side trying to gain advantage for the other. We're just trying to level the playing field for anyone who's marginalized either be because of your gender, your sexual orientation or your race. You know, there's a lot of quotes that I find myself of hers reflecting on I think one in particular fits cities programming, she said. Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you. And you know that's not always easy for someone who can be. At some point if you have a minute if you can get through all of the UN subscribing you're doing today Look up the set. 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers defense. They're the best defense maybe ever, but they didn't win the Super Bowl. That number five number five is the 86 Giants. Lawrence Taylor is about all you need to say, but they were an unbelievable defense. They also had the Hall of Famer Harry Carson. They were second in the league and yards, allowed third on the league and points per game allowed. 59 sex 24 picks. They knocked out quarterbacks and felt like every single week they beat Joe Montana, 49 to 3 in a playoff game there. Number five on the number four. Number four is the 2015 Broncos. Because very few teams have ever been fully carried by their defense. The way that one was to a championship at Von Miller and those guys. They were first in the league and defense that year, and in the playoffs, they beat Roethlisberger, Brady and Cam Newton, allowing just 44 points to those three quarterbacks in three playoff game. Number three. Number three is the 2000 to Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yoga. McFarland's team, You welcome book. Actually, you could be higher on this list. Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, Unbelievable defense. The numbers of ridiculous They had 31 interceptions that year and gave up 10 passing touchdowns. The 2000 to Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Third on the all time list of great defense is to win the suit number two, The 2000 Ravens or second They want that all by themselves. And on that note, Welcome back to another critically acclaimed edition off straight out of Vegas, the weekend adaptation Tonight, I will quickly revisit the Brady Belichick interlocking Tory's and it should come as no surprise who the victor is, or at least around one. But last August, I did this last August that chronicled Bella checks left before and without Brady. And the data I shared in still leads me to the same conclusion that I will reveal tonight. We'll do it in a minute. Also last week, I surmised on who in the A F C could knock out the Chiefs. Tonight. I'm going to do the same for this sleek looking Green Bay Packers can anybody Prevent Aaron Rodgers Quest to get to the Super Bowl will analyze and about 15 minutes, Steve physic. He'll join via phone as we chop up a busy wildcard Super weekend, three games or in the books. What did we learn? Three more to go, and we're gonna look ahead with the kind of analytic thinking you've come to expect. Later on after Brian Families epic update Sleepy will win on another best bet. And, of course, we close down the show with Macken on sports and plenty of fodder to stretch your brain. Not before I give my analysis and prediction of the college football National championship game Monday between Alabama and Ohio State sports their entertainment, but they're more than that. There are shared experiences such People want to talk about them. You've come to the right place. We've got a lot to talk about tonight. This is straight out of Vegas. The pregame show you always wanted. As they say in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It's gonna be lit all right quickly. Brady versus Bela Chick. I'm calling it a saga. It's It's not a divorce. Come on, stop it. That's a lazy name and so lazy characterization. I don't recall them taking any vowels or any solemn promises. Till death do us part. He was a business partnership, and typically those don't last forever. Eventually, they dissolve. Challenge. Interesting is both Brady and Belichick saw in each other. What they saw in themselves a certain it factor in. Yes, I saw that Brady in 1998 1999. When I was Covering the Wolverines for WTKK Ann Ann Arbor. There's a certain it factor that both of these guys have, and I lay it out for you, you know, to a terrible story. The Chicago Bears once had a tight end by the name of Timor. Reitman, a Tim actually articulated at U C L A. We're Brian family win, and by the way, he also went to high school that Mary Star of the Sea where our own David Gascon went. They're both star football players. But I digress. Tim Reitman one day and the Bears were playing the New York Giants and Right before the snap. Lawrence Taylor got up in his face and said Sonny. That ball is snapped. I'm going to the left. I'm gonna hit you upside your head and I want to kill your quarterback, and there's not a damn thing you're gonna be able to do about it. Tim Reitman knew the cadence of the snap, and just precisely before The ball was snapped to the quarterback. Reitman looked at Lawrence Taylor and said Mr Taylor Is that your left or my left? The ball was snapped, right man fired off the line of scrimmage hit him in the nuts knocked him on the ground, and Lawrence Taylor looked up. Smiled it, Tim Reitman. That's the kind of savvy that both Brady and Belichick have shown. And when they departed. You had to ask yourself Well, okay, There's going to be an argument. But look, Brady was 11 and five this year you could diminish it. You can say ran up numbers against worst teams. I don't care what you say. Whatever you want. 40 touchdowns. 10 interceptions 11 interceptions. He did a lot better than the guy did last year perform. And by the way last year in New England, Brady had no weapons, then either. 24 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 12 and four. Do whatever you want with that. Here's Here's where I want to go with this, and I want to get on and off pretty quickly. I said this last dog. It's just don't stop me. If you heard me before, because not everybody's heard this. Before Brady Belichick at a record of 42 55. By the way, I am not besmirching Bill Belichick. He's the second greatest coach of all time behind Scotty Bowman. I'll get to that some other time. But the point of the matter is before Brady. He was 42 58. When he took over the Cleveland Browns, the Browns in the mid nineties had made the playoffs five of six years. When Belichick to have over they had losing records for five seasons in Cleveland, by the way, next table was his defensive coordinator. Even Bela Chick was even five and 13 with Drew Bledsoe and bloodshed was the number one draft pick. Brady steps and beats Peyton Manning and the Colts by 31 in his first game, and the rest is history. By the way, if you're scoring at home, the Patriots were a 10 point underdog. That day, Brady proceeded to go 13 and three the rest of the way. They want a Super Bowl, and there you have it. The two together, joined at the hip. Did some wonderful things incredible in any during the salary cap era, And by the way with Brady Bill a check cover the spread 59% of the time 59.7% of the time. Without Brady, you cover the spread 51% of the time. Not tonight. If you're watching TV, give them Washington football team. A hell of a lot of credit The NFL you've been served this This organization's for real. Give their personal department for finding that quarterback and bring them in and doing a hell of a job. But Brady nothing you know. 381 yards, two touchdowns. One of 43 passer rating. He's now had 31 playoff wins in his career. Second places with Joe Montana was 16 and he's beaten 17. Different teams so Don't call it a divorce. That's lame. That's weak. It's a bad characterization. Businesses don't last forever, and this one didn't need her. And I think Brady's doing just fine. Good friend of mine. Who I respect at dinner with him tonight. You might have heard of this name's Rob Parker. He thought they'd win six games this year. All right. Well, he was right. They did it by October. All right, Let's get off of that. Let's get on to What you tuned in for and one of the things I don't want to talk about before we get to Steve physic here in about 10 minutes..

Who is the most intimidating man in the history of the NFL?
"Who is the most intimidating man in the history of the NFL since you brought it up. Meantime, for some reason is sitting in the seat of Billy Gill. A Hello to see you. You can check out her podcast with their dog als. Ada has to be in that conversation was the most intimidating man in the history of football. We about to have him on the line, James Harrison. Or is there someone else you would nominate in the conversation with James Harrison? It's Lawrence Taylor. I think that's I don't want to say that in front of James Harrison. He's not on yet. Right James hers and joins us now on ESPN radio. Thank you for your contributions. You know, always solid James. Is there anyone that you've run across? And thank you for joining us where you're like. Yeah. That guy is comparable to me in terms of giving off menace and fear. And this person is not to be trifled with. That I've run across personally. I would say, you know, like like, Greg, Lloyd. And that's a good. That's that. Yeah. Yeah. He you gotta you gotta go back a little further. Yeah. Met amac Lambert. He was a guy that had. And I would have to agree with LT. They go. They don't have to worry about it. He James Harrison agrees with you. Even though Meena is mortified now that she said that around Dame's Harrison who's a guy James if you don't mind, and by the way, he's a five time pro bowler. He's a two-time champion. He was the two thousand eight NFL defensive player of the year. And he played till thirty eight years old thirty nine years old. Who's a guy though, James that you looked at in terms of body because your weight room freak? And you're like that guy should be bigger. He's got all the muscles. He looks the part that guy should be better. At what it is that he's doing. You know, it's a number of, you know, I wanna you know, like name a lot of guys that look like Tarzan play lights ain't so I just had to be forced to look like Tarzan and trying to a little bit like through. Was there any issue in these Steeler locker room when you were there that James Harrison had to be summoned to go fix? Not really I mean, the only things, you know, if you know, we weren't planned up to par you know defense. And it was something that needs to be said, you know, if I talked, and, you know, people listening because I felt that off. So if James Harrison had been a Steeler last year, and you know, lady on bell is not around. None of this happens. You just you just drag wavy on unbelted facility by his hair like air, you're gonna play and you're gonna get in the huddle, no way no way that is this decision, but is for each individual. And I cannot comment or another man's money or how each shoes to make or not make that much. I haven't how about Antonia because if you're on the team, and he's already played all the games and you're in a big spot trying to make the playoffs is anto Brown playing Sunday that final week of the season. If James Harrison tells them the plot. That that was a decision that obviously to him from what I heard, you know, the press conference released that might sound at that was something that Tom decision. Also that is not up to my decision. You know, you can't go ahead. Hey. Hey.

Bill Belichick won't put Khalil Mack in Lawrence Taylor's class
"That's happening in forum is because they traded Khalil Mack in. Why are we talking about Khalil Mack? Well, we're not trying to rub it into raiders fans. I wanted to talk about Bill Belichick and what he said about Khalil Mack today. Of course, the bears are playing the patriots on Sunday and Bill Belichick. Ironically, enough won't put cluele MAC in the same classes Lawrence Taylor. Well, of course, not Lawrence Taylor is one of the three greatest defensive players in NFL history. He might be the greatest defensive player in NFL history. Khalil Mack has a long, and I mean, a long way to go before he can even be remotely compared to Lawrence sale. You know, Lawrence Taylor has also Super Bowl rings rings, plural. So for Khalil Mack. Sure. Is he a terrific player right now in the NFL? Absolutely. Is he one of the top three or four players on defense in the league right now. Absolutely. Should he be murmured in the same sentences Lawrence Taylor? Oh, hell, no. And of course, Bill Belichick was the D coordinator for all those teams in New York with the giants. So of course, he has a special affinity for for Lawrence Taylor. He helped get the guy's career off the ground. And you know, part of what may Bill Belichick and attractive head coaching commodity keep in mind, you know, he was under that Bill Parcells coaching tree is players loved a man and Bill Belichick wasn't always this sullen hood wearing callous unfeeling strategists. Meaning it was always a little. I'd say blunt he wasn't always Mr. Congeniality, but he definitely used to show a softer side, a little more, and you know, as you get a little older, and you care less. What people think that tends to happen when you're a head coach, it's a little different. You got to kind of keep your cards close to the vest. Bill Belichick has embodied that. And that's why in an era where today's NFL and really in professional sports. You have to be the players coach, the friend. I this stern disciplinarians don't really make the great anymore. But that's why Bill belch exponential to last because he wins, and he still has the respect of his locker room. All right, San Jose Sharks. Have been struggling

Bill Belichick won't put Khalil Mack in Lawrence Taylor's class
"Belichick today, of course. Bill defensive coordinator for the giants back in the day or close with warrants Taylor. Arguably the greatest defensive player of all time someone asks Bill of Khalil Mack is kind of in the same realm as LT. Lawrence Taylor now. I'm up on anybody. Lawrence Taylor's class. So. Put down below that. That does with a lot of respect a lot. Good players now but worth about Lawrence Taylor. Look how many times have I we've deconstructed Bella check over the four of this show. All the time. It's a it's a very smart maneuver to go retro with ballot. Check he'd likes talking about previous players that he has coached. He does like talking about the older days. He does like comparing one to the other one would think is a way to get him to talk about Khalil Mack. But as we

Football Hall of Famers threaten boycott over health coverage
"The NFL has a boycott threat that has nothing to do with the national anthem. Here's some of the most prominent names in football. Jim Brown, Joan Nemeth, Jerry Rice Dion Sanders. Lawrence Taylor day. In many other hall of famers said they would not attend the annual induction ceremony in canton, Ohio unless the NFL gives them health insurance at an annual salary. That includes a share of league revenue the hall of Famer said they were integral to the creation of the modern NFL, but were left struggling with severe health and financial problems. The player said they were given a gold jacket a bust in a ring but were largely left behind while league revenue skyrocket. No media response from the

Colin says Odell Beckham Jr. is everything the New York Giants are not
"Speaking of your dad actually wanna play this. This is know Colin cowherd was trying to do a speech about why the giants. It doesn't work out with Odell Beckham and he's saying that you know, Odell Beckham a little crazy, a little sexy and the giants. They are the opposite of that. And this is what he said about the giants and their history was star share. You look at the history of the New York Giants look at their stars Mark beforre, Phil Makanji, David Tyree, Jeff, Hostetler. Phil Simms. Anybody, anybody got an Espresso, even your stars are boring. Who I mean, you know, he did a really good job of trying to not name like the biggest stars, which would be who I, I mean, Lawrence Taylor. I mean, yeah, sure. Lacks co bursts. Well, I mean, there's been a number Jeremy shockey. He's been there. It's been like this choir boy setting, Tiki barber. Was he acquired Boyko? Everybody hated him in the NFL. Pretty sure I get the I know what he's trying to say. It is kind of an understated organization, the Maras or that type of family?
