Sometimes he can figure out a k. sometimes he can't get into a covered with really loose wooden slats so he has to punch his way through it. You know, that would have made so easy. Just cypher, not in a good way. I don't think I do you say the influences though unlike the ID slash movies and like the Terminator and scream, then a movie here. And I understand, you know. Yes and shooting him a whole bunch of time. I was thought that was just baffling to me. You know what I thought? Because this movie is quite brief unless Iffley brave. It's like ninety minutes. I was like, oh, man, because this is the point where. Laurie Laurie strode is she's she's corn and she's in a, she's in a wardrobe yet the monsters come in and get a, you know, this is this is this is a why. This is the perfect I encounter her in this monster. What's has has this gonna turn out? It's the first and lost. Yes. And then and then and then the guy that she's never met just runs in shirts, six times, and then he falls at falls out of a out of bed and then he's gone. He's gone. Yeah, investor run real fast. Yeah, Ryan, I don't understand thinking few in and again, that's a lesson learned. I think in light of movies not just of this franchise but of just horror movies. Generally, what would happen then in now it'd be some contrivance. It'd be a cat. Would me our Dogwood bark. Just sort of find me on animal situation. What happened and the pig widowing k. "Get to you. And just one moment went to hear your thoughts on this newest development in the Brett cabin nomination. Six one seven two five four ten thirty. Triple eight nine two nine ten thirty the woman accusing him of sexual sexual assault has named herself. I want to hear your thoughts. I also wanna throw into the mix is to say, I'm asking you all out there. Do you think there's been some bias in the coverage of this? Because do you remember back a few weeks ago as a bene- home month already where Keith Ellison had some accusations alleged against him by former I think it was a girlfriend. Am I saw a about it? And I've seen nothing sense and those are very serious allegations. But my in my inbox is are being flooded with this story on cavenaugh. So I'm seeing a little bit of disparity between the level of reporting. Is that have anything to do with the fact that Ellison is a progressive democrat and Kavanagh's Ben Ben nominated by a Republican you tell me when I hear from you six seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine hundred nine ten thirty. We're gonna go to Laurie Brockton. Hello, laurie. You're on the air. I thank you very much you work on I've been reading I've been reading about this and one of the things she also said is that somebody came into our friend came into the room and pulled them off of her. Now, I believe that they can find that friend who can confirm that story doubts. Hopefully, we'll be put to bed well apps witness witness. I I. Hand witness testimony is very good evidence. Absolutely. Absolutely. And so I think that I'm hoping that that's what they're busy doing. Now is to try to track him down. They do that then that gives credence to the story in my opinion. He should not because of that he should not be confirmed. Now to the Anita hill hearings. Be witnesses who wanted to state. That she was not alone. He had made a disparaging remarks on the women Joe Biden Godrej. No, he's still around. No, he is. I don't want anything to happen. Live course, I I I will never forgive him for that. Because now we're living with Clarence Thomas until eating passes away. Well, let's see I wanna bring. Stepping because you're making a good point in that like all the Democrats who are so on board with women's rights. All of a sudden, we're the very ones who treated Anita hill terribly in those hearings, the democratic men, right? I think so that's what I could give Joe Biden for that. If he ever run through president I will never vote for him because we're stuck with Clarence Thomas because of that he hasn't stopped the other women from testifying who knows how that vote would have gone. It's it's I don't think he would have been confirmed. If the other women had been a allowed to state what they what he said to them. This is not stating words, this is actual. And so I think that because this is actions and not words, this is far more serious. Now, you say why did she wait so long? I think that that question was answered in what you said, she was so afraid for whole life. She said now, maybe that sounds a little over dramatical. But at the same time thirty years ago things were very very well. That's what I want to be very precise Laurie. I did not say my bar was not that she came forward as a fifteen year old in the nineteen eighties. No way was that. What I said what I'm saying? Is that many years later when she was more secure and she had her footing. So I'm holding her to the bar of the of the year two thousand two when no we're in two thousand eighteen so he was nominated about twelve years two thousand and six that's different two dozen sixty. Things behind you and more Fullwood, not everyone is a warrior such as you. And I think you're you're a definitely a model that many of us anyway in that area. Thank you, not everyone is whites that many people feel. The fear of God in Laurie. Let me I wanted to. I wanted to ask you question. But I'll I'll answer to that. I, and I know a lot of people always say that to me not everyone is me, and my response to that is you know, what it's hard to be a warrior, and I have the scars to prove it. But why am I left out here? All on my own were while other women sit on the back benches. It's really unfair to people like me. And I have I have concerns too. I've had threats in my past to and and I go, you know, so why do I have to bear the bear the brunt of it? You know, if it weren't just if if there were more people if there were more women, we wouldn't all have to be such at such risk. If more people would take more women and men good man, we take on the responsibility. And then maybe like those of us who are who are fighting the fight on the front lines. Don't have to put ourselves at risk as much we have to. I mean, that's like, you know, liberals are supposed to be about sharing the risk. But it seems like and I've been the room with a lot of Democrats seems like, unfortunately, not a lot of people want to stick their necks out. And I think you can't get the accolades for coming out and speaking out and. Without taking some criticism and some heat for sitting on your hands because it has a real to address that permit me to just that please you are very fortunate as many young women today because they stand on the shoulders of a lot of great women. I've never denied that. I have never denied that came out in an age when women were becoming more vocal more vocal about so many things. Young women are so much and this woman is older than I am Laurie. That's the point I'm making this woman is older than I am. You're greeting my case here, pleading my case you saying she came out she happened to her at a time when an even later on even two thousand two wasn't such a great year for women. And I think that the only it was better than nineteen ninety one bit abused abused. I've been violated. I was in the army, and I kept my mouth shut deal with that now in post traumatic sexual sexual trauma. Might have to deal with that. I am I still have I still. Still have things that bothered me at night. I live with this. And I'm seventy five years old. I can't put this behind me. And it was easier for me to discuss this. Now, we because people are willing to listen to it. When they weren't willing to listen to it and two thousand to believe me, they were willing to listen to it. You're fortunate that your mother was a strong woman, and she was a good. He was a good a good solid example THEO van Laurie Laurie Laurie let me break in here. But that's only half the story. So everybody's like, you know. So like now, you're making assumptions about me that, you know, nothing of and so like, you know, I was fortunate in many ways, but there were a lot of you know, and I'm not gonna go into my entire personal history. Okay. My father and his father is a Vietnam veteran, and that should be enough said, okay. So I had challenges as well. And I had a lot of different things going on in the eighties with girls in high school and and girls in college. But you're seventy five you're twenty years older than this woman. So you're you're the generation I'm talking about that you really had no choice is what I'm saying. So it's a case by case basis, and I don't put you in the same category as her because you're a someone that did not have the ability to come forward. Right. And you were in the army, which is even. More and even more difficult situation. Right. And so what I'm saying is I don't expect her to have come out in the eighties. I do expect in two thousand and two. I do have that expectation that again, like I said, it doesn't matter. You're always gonna win when you're a woman in the situation nineteen ninety one and I'll delve into this into an in another show, but nine hundred ninety one is when I came smack against a professor who was inappropriate. Okay. Nine hundred ninety one. I was not protected the person. I went to you know, said the right words, but you know, kind of pooh-poohed me like, you know, I'm an alarmist, blah, blah. Right. But I did what I had to do to protect myself that was nineteen Ninety-one when I was completely powerless, right? This woman in two thousand two that's twenty one years later. I do have a higher bar for that. Okay. Let's let you have a high bar, and I can respect that. We're not talking about you were talking about her. We don't know. She said she she saw five is after that. I can believe it. She it bothered her. She couldn't get out of her mind. Five years after you. She wanted to walk back into that at two thousand two she struggled to try and get past that in for over five years think, but that's a burden. All that aside. Let's all that aside. All that aside. Let's make the assumption for a moment, please. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt, especially if they find this witness. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. And it actually happened with do you think he should be confirmed if this actually happened? No, thank you. I wanna know Laurie Laurie. I do want to before I let you go. Because you know, I I wanna come back to your original comment. And I wonder if you have do you have a source for where you saw that the she said a friend pulled them off a for do you have a source in the media? You know, what I read the news every morning. Might have been in. Huffpost. Okay. I it might have been an article in half coast. I would suspect it might be. Okay. Because what I wake up in the morning. That's the first thing. I read to make sure I haven't missed anything in the middle of the night. Okay. When I wake up. Yeah. And the other thing, of course, is I read and MSNBC I watched that faithfully. Well. I'm getting credit for work. This is about to say more power to you on that. So you you had a great show earlier. I wish I could've heard the whole thing. But I had to go to work today. September fifteenth corporate deadline and get done. But I'm taking tomorrow off. Thank god. I'm tired. You should. What I do. I love what I do. I to we came up the hard way. I went to junior college and then finished up my bachelor's. It's up. I became an enrolled agent. Licensed by the US treasury. I went on to get my masters a topic. While I was still working. And then I went on and took the United States tax court exam past that, and then I can represent US tax court fat. I wanted to be a lawyer. But if I became a lawyer, I might have to defend people that I didn't like. It's hard to be choosy and believe me. But you know, sorry. Let me correct that it's not hard to be being choosey takes you a lot longer to do well in the legal field. This is what I'm saying. Yeah. And I have a a pretty high pretty high bar for doing what's right same here. Which is the question of integrity and ethics. I would never feel that. I I would have the integrity to represent someone that I truly believe let's guilty. Yes. So they are entitled to the fan..

"But you know what I mean? Yeah, you know, it's it's. I made this for a number of reasons and and you know, self expression is not my first goal. Really a really try. To work in art forms were a. I go for disembodiment you know, I, I love to be carried away by things, and that's one of the reasons I'm doing a lot of ritual reality work now because you know, you can really loose yourself in in that world. That's the kind of art. I like the best. I think I guess that's about loss to the, but that's that's so funny because I, I think we're under I can be under some false impression. Sometimes that self expression is the is is the most honest, honest form of art, not. And I think I mean, I would honesty wouldn't come to mind in terms of maybe narcissism. Where'd you know? Let me tell you more about myself through notes or colors. You know, I, I really don't care if you know me, they're not. Yeah, I want to ask. When question about this, I, I did hear that you did play your peace with the Kronos quartet for Liu, and I'm interested to hear what he thought. Oh, he was really helpful. And he was very encouraging. He loves string music, so it was really something he knew huge amount about how an acoustic string resonates and then pushes it into electronic realm and how those two worlds be enforced each other. And that's really what it was going for in this in this work because I'm essentially playing a hop to feel that has a lot of potential harmonies and weird kinds of things. And so I and that's how I did this quartet did melodies on this by Lynn with these different filter so that all four parts would be available in in one strokes pretty easy way to write a quartet in certain ways. Although I have to say, I didn't think it was easy. It was terrifying generated quartet. It is challenging. I thought of using the program finale the other day. That's all. Medika just put in one melody would auto arrange into, of course. I thought if Mozart was around what he would. So I quite as taking Laurie Laurie. Have you been back to that basement since or recently? Oh, yeah. Yeah, it looks pretty good down there. I mean, there's nothing in there. What feeling do you get when you go into the basement now? Do you get any feeling at all..

"Can see what we're walking through it will dramatically impact again my life is more dot com i invite you i'm so open to that i love that a love having families be a part of this and not just individuals see the impact it has all right that's my that's what i get excited about right now if you missed any part of the show you can also go to that website my life is more dot com you can hear the first part of the show you can also ask any question about anything you've heard and i will get back to you directly i can't always feature every question on the show but i do get back to everyone who writes and again it's my life is more dot com speaking of questions let's jump into our lightning round so every week we get questions from folks and i love getting to as many of these i can i get ragged about this because often give too long of answers some sorry but we'll see how many we can get through here first question was from laurie laurie wrote in hey i'm looking for some last minute tax advice should i contribute to an ira or a roth for two thousand seventeen okay so if you don't know this thank you laurie for writing in you can still make a two thousand seventeen ira contribution but time is running out the clock is ticking right tax filing deadline is april seventeenth so you have until april seventeenth to make a contribution still for last year and laurie is saying is it better to make an ira or a roth contribution this entirely depends on your situation so let me give a hypothetical here and i are a if you don't know what that is as an individual retirement account that's a pre tax account so if you contribute to an ira it lowers your taxable income so if you are someone right now who owes money you're about to cut a check to the irs because you didn't pay enough in taxes last year you could instead contribute to an ira and lower that taxable income which will lower what you.

"General air of yes of washington dc nece and institutional formality yes and what what's even i think more funny as that we usually think of people wanting to come film in the beautiful areas we've got a beautiful library outside of our building is just gorgeous but sometimes when the film crews tom they start around the building and they actually see a hallway stairwell like oh this would be perfect so there's a lot of versatility in our building and so that's where we've had parks and rec the house of cards national treasure i mean even the most recent spiderman movie filmed and did a lot of scenes up on our roof because you've got sweeping views of dc right near wall on the da blog that the west wing filmed da or headquarters nine different times more than any other location in washington in dc i believe so yeah do you do you know any of the specific episodes or or moments when the day our headquarters was used yeah so one of the saints that really shows off our genealogical library actually doubled as a law library in the first season when i believe was laurie laurie and her friend yeah so laurie as it's the day before her graduation and she's studying quote unquote studying in the law library and you see the sweeping view of our beautiful library space it closes in on her and even just with hallways i believe one of the scenes with john goodman i visually remember him walking down a hallway with there was a marble bust in the background and it's beautiful hallway and he's just walking down the hallway and that was filmed in the and our portico we've got this beautiful portico with.
