"With Lauren Rickets. Lauren, You're saying that word again this morning? That's no word, you know, And I think we're gonna get a good deal of it, John. I mean, we are looking at a pretty significant winter storm taking shape. What's happening is cold air unleashing across the United States and this is going to continue right on into the weekend. In fact, areas of Texas could have sub zero Windshield. So again, Cold air is going to set up shop around here and not go anywhere. So any little systems we get moving through, likely going to be Ah, good deal of winter, maybe a little mix because we're d C and we usually see that But we are looking at a significant winter storm taking shape starting tomorrow night and lasting through at least mid day on Friday today were mostly dryness. He mostly because we do have a few light rain showers in southern Maryland. Right now, some of those could creep northwestward up towards the D C area. Some stains Southeast D C and again just some spotty showers. There's pockets of some freezing rain, but this will be gone by lunchtime. And then this afternoon, more sunshine. Good news is temperatures around 50 today, That's gonna be the most mild day that we're going to see this week. We're on Lee in the thirties to near 40 degrees tomorrow. Tomorrow morning will be dry, increasing clouds, but by tomorrow sundown Snow and so will continue into Thursday. It'll continue right through the day on Thursday and into Friday afternoon Now Thursday, and even through the daylight hours on Friday, we'll have to worry about this rain snow line. How far North can I get can get mixed in? Are we going to stay cold enough for all snow? Still looks like we could see a several inches of snow, possibly 62 maybe up to 10 inches of snow. But of course, we may have to lower expectations. If this rain snow line gets a little closer, But I do believe that we will all see it least a couple inches of snow accumulation, if not more than a couple of inches again. Just have to see what this rain snow line does not like to see One more model run before we like to put out snow totals but know this could be a significant winter storm. "4 meteorologist Lauren Rickets. It's partly cloudy 86 degrees right now in the nation's capital temperatures. Upper sixties toe low nineties. Today it is 12 11. The Supreme Court today ruled that nonprofit employers with religious or moral objections can opt out of a requirement to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act. Joining us live to go deeper on this is NBC News Justice correspondent Pete Williams. Pete a victory for the Trump Administration here. Can you explain a little bit more about this ruling and how it effects? Tens of thousands of workers who get free birth control. Sure you're right. It is a victory for the Trump Administration. It's also not surprising, as surprisingly, not a 5 to 4 decision. This was 7 to 2 with just justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Dissenting What the court said here. Basically, an opinion written by Clarence Thomas is that Obama care gives the Department of Health and Human Services broad authority to define what will be covered and equally broad authority to define who will provide that coverage. So it expands. Remember when Obamacare first came about it provided a carve out for churches and mosques and synagogues themselves. They didn't have to provide this coverage will now it's much broader even for profit companies that have religious or moral objections. Can't say they don't want to provide the coverage either, And it'll mean about the estimates were about 246,000 women. Now we'll have to find some other way to get this coverage at no cost. You mentioned Justices Sotomayor and Ginsburg dissenting any sense why some of the other courts? More liberal justices joined with the Conservatives on this ruling. Well, they agreed they agreed with the holding that it provided that the law provides this broad discretion. What what the dissenters say, is that the court in the past is always balanced Religious freedom. For for those people who are believers against the interests of others whose beliefs may not be the same. But today, they said, the court seems to be ruling for religious zeal in their terms to the degree. Quickly. Another ruling had to do with whether religious schools could face employment discrimination lawsuits brought by employees. What did the court rule there? This sort of broadens the ruling the court made a couple of years ago that said, if you're an employee of a religious institution Ah, the employer. You can't super job discrimination in essence, because that would be government interference in who is going to preach the message or spread the message of the religious message of that organization. And today, the Supreme Court said that also applies to teachers and religious schools. All right, Pete, always great to have you. Thanks so much for clearing this up. We appreciate it. You bet Last decisions tomorrow tomorrow on President Trump's trumps taxes. We hope to talk to you then. Thanks, Pete. Okay. NBC news Justice correspondent Pete Williams heads up for commuters.
