"What is up, Marty? Man, I'm excited for this one, brother. It's always great to be at the iron bowl. It doesn't matter where we are, which town doesn't matter what the records are. This one always has so much excitement and it matters so much to the people in this state. And I'm thoroughly impressed with auburn since Cadillac took over. He has those guys galvanized. He has them passionate. They're running the football downhill with a lot of physicality and coach Saban has preached that to his team this week that we have to match that intensity and in speaking with those guys at Alabama. They're really impressed with the energy that the teams had this week. They're diligent this week. They seem to be tremendously focused. And that hadn't been the case in every single week this season. So I think coach Saban's really confident he'll be on Marty and McGee tomorrow morning around. 9 45 Eastern Time so we can ask him ourselves kind of where his head is as they head into this weekend, but I wanted to just share something real quick that I'm gonna have. On SEC nation tomorrow, we have an amazing feature, a great producer and friend of Paul and Monday in Esparza. And I have done a piece on the operation iron rook. I don't know if you're familiar with this, but this is military veterans from both auburn university and the university of Alabama who participate in a 151 mile ruck march with 22 pounds on their back and one reason they do that is it's awareness for veteran suicide. Which is something that we should all be aware of and something that these guys are doing such an amazing job to raise awareness there with operation iron rook and we'll have that feature tomorrow on SEC nation. Yeah, we had a retired general on the other day on Veterans Day. And he alluded to that as being, as you know, by far, one of the most serious issues that is face veterans. It is. And I actually have a stat here. This as we started to work through this piece and learn about what these veterans are going through this stat is unbelievable to me, suicide is the second leading cause of death for post 9 11 veterans in the United States of America with one 125,000 veterans taking their own lives since 2001. And these are the heroes that fight for our freedom and that sacrifice every day so that we can be free. So what these guys do is they deliver the game ball. They bring the game ball from one campus to the other campus. So deliver the game ball for the iron bowl. So appreciate what those guys are doing and look forward to meeting a bunch of them tomorrow. They'll be at the set with us at SEC nation. Yeah, I wanted to make one reference to Veterans Day piece you had. I was, I think in the hotel room a couple weeks ago and I came apart when you had the veteran of FaceTiming with Jack Nichols. I thought that was one of the most extraordinary things I've seen. Thank you. Yes, his name is sergeant Aaron silton. He was a marine raider. And was engaged in a firefight in Afghanistan and took a sniper around through his jaw here, the left jaw, ripped his tongue off and went out as carotid artery on the other side and had a bunch of strokes between the battlefield and them getting him to the hospital, spent more than a year in rehab and ultimately found the game of golf and the game of golf saved his life. And so I reached out to mister Nicholas and asked him if he would invite sergeant silton to American dunes, which is the amazing course up in Michigan that the folks at folds of honor built in mister Nicholas designed and did that and I'll tell you, Paul, you and I engage in a lot of different people every day, but when I saw sergeant silton remove his hat. When he saw mister Nicholas, I just as good as it gets and man, I'm full of gratitude just to get to spend the time in fellowship with that guy. What's he wrote? Yeah, I got to tell you more about your encounter and obviously there's a lot of famous people that you know or friends with, but it's really the people that we've never heard of until you bring out that probably tug at me the most. Well, one thing that that was such a keen reminder of for me that specific story and even what we're doing here with operation iron rook is we engage in people on a daily basis and we consider what they are, not who they are. Right. And it's such a reminder that all of us are going through something. Everybody's going through something. And if we just take a moment, maybe to learn their story and ask about their life, it might have a profound impact on them when they need that feeling of hope. And sergeant silken certainly reminded me of that because I mean, this is a guy who's teaching people about their golf swing. He's selling them golf clubs. And he, you know, he has a bit of a speech issue because of the strokes that he had. And you wouldn't know why, unless you asked, and then if you ask and you learn what a hero, he is for all of us, you can learn so much about his life. And I'm full of gratitude for him. Incredible. And thank you again for sharing all of that with us. Thank you for your Paul sent me the nicest note that morning via text and it just meant so much to me. Thank you. Thank you, Marty. We'll see more tomorrow morning on Marty and McGee plus a visit by Nick Saban. We're not done here yet. We still have a long way to go. Another hour with a number of people, including Cole, will join us in a couple of minutes, Steven M Smith, Chris doering, and more of your phone calls as we head toward the final hour in Tuscaloosa. Thank you for listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast, the Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"Thank you so good here. It's almost out of, but I really haven't enjoyed a year ago. I've had a good time, man. You got a good job. I know I'm hard on your time. But you're not always worse than I am. We all good, man. You know? Well, Larry, I'm glad I feel good about that. And let's have a good year. We need one in this crazy world that we live in. We should, but thank you very much, Larry. Ken is up next. They can't go right ahead. How's it going, Paul? Very well, Ken, good to hear from you. Thank you. Great to be on the show. You're one hard son of a gun to get in touch with because of your popularity instruments jobs that you've done over the years. I agree with Ricky. Taylor Hicks has got some chops when it comes to car Monica. I play on Monica a little bit myself. I wouldn't play it around Taylor because he wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. But I enjoy and appreciate a good harmonica player and a gifted musician and how serious do you think he was about fans. Helping him with lyrics as far as suggesting lyrics, excuse me? I don't know if he was serious. I was serious. Because I once participated in writing a song, Ken. It was a fabulous experience. I mean, I went up to muscle shells in one of the famous studios there with accomplished and successful songwriter. We did write a song together. And I think the audience would have a blast if we could just chalk out a good amount of time one day and tell you we're up there with. Hey, thank you so much, Kim. We'll continue that conversation as we head to the break here. We are live in Tuscaloosa.

"Yes. And he ended up I said he got stuck with auger on it. He did win a national. I want a national championship. What are you going to do? But yeah, this is going to be fascinating what happens. But that's why I thought when this reporter tweeted whatever he did out of Mississippi the other day that the story would be on Friday, it was almost no way the story was ever going to come out on Friday. Well, not after the information has come out that it's going to be on Friday. I mean, everyone can just hold it. You know, there's no real difference between Friday and Sunday, except for that you do have the result of the iron bull at that point. And whether we, I firmly believe that at least right now, that does not factor in to this hiring. But things as we know can change so quickly in this coaching search and coach hiring world. You never know. It could. Well, the common sense of a big time athletic gets run over by the emotion of a fan base, clamoring for somebody, and it's happened. Many, many times. That was so well said. I actually am going to write that down. I might say it tomorrow and pretend like I made it up. Thank you. I look forward to it. Yeah. You're so smart. Well, I don't know, Paul, you know, sometimes we're not sure where Paul is and the show's about to start it. It would be 9 a.m. local, by the way. Okay. The show's about to start and we're like, has anyone seen Paul? I mean, the whole where is Paul thing is actually a very real question that's asked often. You know what we were talking about today that was funny. I know we have to go to break. Remember that time a couple years ago when you were having travel issues and you were trying to rebook your flight and it was during the show, but no they cut your mic. So you're on the phone. You think I can make this quite, you know? I'm like, Paul, hello, is that you? It was in Baton Rouge and we just found out they had shut down the New Orleans. That's what it was. And I had a really sure. I was trying to get to Connecticut someplace. Well, I know how hard it is to get to connect. And it wasn't easy. And I was literally booking it and then finally Marcus spirit, what are you doing? It's so funny. I mean, obviously you don't think that you're on air, but you know, listen, in fact, we are lucky that live mics don't catch a saying crazy thing because we say them. Anyway, they don't. They have me. I know. Oh yeah. Believe me. I do. And by the way, it wasn't mine wasn't some faux pas that I said all that Nick Saban is. It would have been better had I criticized the coach. I was talking about the people I worked with. He was talking about me. I was fine. He said it all to my face. It's all good. Anyway, Laura, great to see you again. It's so good to see you. Mister Lashley. Zach, I'm so happy to be back. And we'll see you next week in Atlanta and I can't believe it. That's going to be so fun. Etsy championship. We got a ton of shows too. That's going to be a blast. Are you going to be there? I'm actually not going to be. Look at this topiary. Oh my goodness. We're back, we're live and touch collusion.

"Time, 9 local right here. And hosted hosting tomorrow morning will be Laura Rutledge. I like how you said that S, EC nation. That was cool. Dashes. Little extra pizzazz. What's going on? We missed you last week. I missed you guys. I'm so happy to be back. You know, it doesn't feel right when I'm not with my family, which I was with my actual family, but I feel like you guys are my family. So for those who are always itching and bugging me on the streets, tell us, let's get behind the scenes with the Laura Rutledge family. You've been back. You've been in Alabama for a couple of days. Yes. So my husband's family is in Coleman, Alabama. So we have been in Coleman. We had Thanksgiving. By the way. Yes. Exactly. I saw that sign. We had Thanksgiving at G sugg's house. That's my husband's grandma, Jean sugars, is her name, but we call her G show. So that was fun. And not an entertainer. I've heard that. Our fancy. She cooked so much good stuff yesterday. She was putting on a show. But yes, we did that yesterday, got to see the Rutledge family and the sugars family, which was great. And then I came on over here today. I'm sure that was riveting for everybody. Paul, how was your Thanksgiving? Did you have a big meal? It was nothing like, you know, hanging out with these shook, but it was quiet. You can come next year if you want. Yeah, well, I know. Open invitation. Is that a standard when you can be in this when you're in this part of the world? Yeah, usually, yeah, totally. When we're in Alabama, we got to stop by Coleman. It's not that far. Anybody who's from this area knows 45 minutes ish north of Birmingham, the whole deal. It's a good spot. So anyway, we made it to the iron ball. Honestly, this sounds like an old lady thing to say, which I basically am an old lady, so it's fine, but I can't believe it's already here. Are you 30? I am. You know what? Turn 34 this year. I'm like an old fart now. That's why you got you're like sick of me now because you're like, ah, she's old. 34. That's all for me. Well, well, you know, some people do have that cutoff. Like they say, certain people. Is there somewhere in the 30s where it hits? Right, like if your past, I mean, for some people, it's like 25, but for you. And there is an age gap thing for some. And I'm talking about just purely friendships here, but I'm obviously mature for my age. So that's why you have embraced me even in my younger years. But yeah, I might be aging out of your you're not. I do not, I am not dismissive of a friends no matter how old or young they are. I don't have that many. That's probably the only thing. You gotta hold on to them when you got them. It's not about age. Well, you can't get rid of me. So, I mean, but you know that. Okay, but really quick. So what was your Thanksgiving meal? A little bit offbeat. We're not disclosing it yet. Oh. For security reasons. Oh, well, I mean, did you eat some meat that's. Not okay. We had buffalo buffalo steak. Did you eat like contraband, you know? No, no, it was just a little less traditional than usual. Oh, okay, well great. So not turkey, I'm guessing. Yeah, man. I'm not like wild about it. No, not everybody is a huge turkey fan. I'm included. I had chicken yesterday. I don't know. Is that bad to say? It's part of the same. It's poultry. Chicken and turkey. It's a bird. Oh my goodness, look at this baby back here. She's got her little belly out and her two two on. Hey. She's so cute. So do we have a video of baby reach at the Thanksgiving? Oh, yeah. Yeah. She shook. Yeah, Reese, Reese was loving it. She doesn't. By the way, I do this. There are a few people out there that are this drives. The drives them. Oh yeah, well, I know. I know. People are so annoyed with this all the time. It's fine. By the way, if you are annoyed, we're doing this for you. So yeah, Reese loved it. She was into it. Loves a big gathering. You know, she's a real party girl. So she was about it. And she had a big pick this week because she's picking the iron bowl. So we'll find out tomorrow who she takes, but yeah, she was enjoying it. Oh, we got some real tide votes. That's usually not much mystery. Well, I mean. It's a daddy bingo. The thing is, he had nothing to do with it. He walked away, and at this point this year, I mean, for people, no one really cares, but for people wondering, before we start her pick every week, I ask her who she wants to take. And she tells me, so she gets to decide and she, you know, whatever it is that day that is tickling her fancy, that's who she goes with. She's been pretty good. She had a rough stretch early on and then she's been on a winning streak ever since. It's been a tough season too. Sounds like you with your picks, Paul. I mean, golly. How right or wrong have you been? I'm not even sure. Pretty good. Oh, really? Yeah. Well, that backfired on me. Yeah. I can't wait to find out who you're picking tomorrow. I'm going with auburn. Oh, let's go. And come on, what are we going to do with everybody like to give it away? 'cause, you know, the whole coffin thing was under wraps, but I've got one tomorrow that will blow you away. Oh, yeah, a big surprise. Think about this, I'm picking auburn. And they're gonna go, where's Paul? Always. I'm still here. I still heard that in the coffin. Yeah. And then everyone's gonna look and coming right over there. Oh. Driving in is going to be me driving a Cadillac. Oh, my goodness. I can't believe you just gave the whole thing away. By the way, I mean,

"Stream on Hulu and welcome back live in Oxford here on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. Let's get to the calls. And Jacob. Is up next. Hello, Jacob. Hey, Paul you there? Yeah, go ahead. You there? Yes. Can you hear me? Yes. Oh. Well, I was going to ask you your opinion on the game this weekend, you know, lane. Was sort of talking this weekend about the fans, you know? Kind of not being there for the first three games, but my thing is that it was sort of a group of 5 games. And you know, like, it was 3 p.m., one was at 6 30, but no one was there, and I just didn't know if you thought that was because of who we're playing or the fans or what you think. I asked him about that when he came by here earlier in the show. And I am one who is a little tired of Elaine kiffin's and the Nick Saban and everyone else in the fighting about the fans. The fans have thanks for the call, by the way. Fans have every right to do whatever they want. They're fans. They pay whether it's, however, they get sick of it as a student. And I just think it's quite frankly crash of coaches to criticize fans to come out for miserable games. I'm a commentator. I get paid to do this. And I'm not watching those games. There's too many other good games on. And I know you're a fan of the school and you want to cheer and at least you show up, I was watching, I watched the game last week from UCLA, I mean, there wasn't 20. There weren't 20,000 people there. So don't criticize people that show up for your games. Once I get there, they paid money. They've driven from Jackson or Memphis or anywhere. And to me, I find it really tiresome that coaches are criticizing people that are supporting their programs. Let's continue with more phone calls and Kevin, I believe. Is that right? Kevin is in Austin. Hey, Paul. Hey, good afternoon. How are you? We're doing great. Hey Paul, I've been with my wife 27 years. I'm predicting trouble at the fine bomb household tonight. I learned a little being made up here. One of the, you know, Laura Rutledge is great friend. Everybody knows the backstory with us, but today she abused that relationship. I agree. You know, these millennials, they don't understand, yeah, these millennials just don't understand the rules. I mean, you don't get on TV and start calling out a guy on his former TV girlfriend and lifetime body count. What's become very obvious if I could help fill in the blanks is pretty clear now she knows all these things, so it's good because we're good friends. And I never revealed all the dark secrets that I have about her. And you know why I didn't reveal them today? Why? I'm saving them for a book. I love it. Hey, Paul, that reminds me of an accident. Exactly. I'm guessing you're right, though, that hers are probably more entertaining than yours. Oh, by far, listen, I wouldn't spend $3 to read my dating history. But hers, yeah, it might, it might be a good seller. Hey, Paul, I do. I do want to ask you. So all of us have that person in our lives. It's a thorn in our side. And that keeps turning up like the bad penny. And I think for you, it's Daryl in Georgia. But for the aggies, it's Mike leitch. And I'm sure you may or may not be aware, but Mike leitch has been a pain in the butt for us for 20 years. Going back to his days at Oklahoma as an assistant and then obviously Texas tech where they play us like they were in the Super Bowl every year. But one of the things I always find over the years, I've grown to appreciate Michael H and I one of the things I always find fascinating about him decides the fact that he's probably the most over educated coach in America is that he seems to go to these schools that are the second fiddle schools wherever that may be, whether it's Texas tech or Washington state or now Mississippi state, they're the perceived second settle, but he gets those guys to play their tail off and play games against schools that should beat them like it is their annual Super Bowl and I think tomorrow they're going to get us. I think they have a better quarterback. They're more physical. We are just not going to be able to make enough plays on offense. And that's my prediction. I'm curious what you think. At the moment, I tend to agree with you on that and I think just offensively this a and M team is a struggle. Hey, thank you very, very much for your call. It's great to hear from you, Matt, is up next in San Antonio Heyman. It tastes like just might be good because of your administration. No, he's not. Michael is overrated coach. He can't recruit that well there. He can't bring in the big talent. He's never going to win a national chairship. We're not going to lose tomorrow. We're still going to do it. That's what's so great about Mike leech is that he's able to do that. You understand that. I'm not straight for a question. Would you like to sign my speech at a big time or make you think he's in there? He's gone. We'll keep it up. He beat your team last year with all the great recruits. And we are live in Oxford and we have a long way to go. We hope you stick around. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast.

"Here is a Emily. There's some great hairs, though, around here. Good head of hair. A hair person? Yes, Emily yimmy. She made me very uncomfortable today. She was doing weird. She said, do you mind if I cut a little bit off the side? Did she? Oh yeah, you know what? It looks really fresh. Yeah. It looks great. Sometimes, you know, you can let it. If we do me okay, are you game for you? No, I said, yeah, totally. Like it's only there's nobody you're concerned about. No, no, no, it's all, it's all out in the open. It's totally good. Okay. Yeah, so here's the other thing. So then what we should do is go down the line and see who else wants to do an expose. I think it's a great show. Right? You got the call. You got all the big people that are your Friends, but I'm just a lowly guy. So I'll leave it up to you. I'll leave it up to you to make this decision. What did he say? Wait, what'd you say again? Uh oh, pull away Joe test so he can help host it. I mean, I want to host yours, but then maybe you've got to be part of mine. Of course. Well, exactly. I don't think that's a mystery. Now they're like, go to break. Okay, that was too far. Whoops. Hey, okay, the other thing I was going to tell you. Is that earlier I met juice kiffin the dog. And I know how much you love dogs, so I just hope you get to meet him. He's so cute. I have not met him. Yeah, he's a really, he's a real cutie. He's your kind of dog. The coach bring him by or is he? His handler, which the handlers, so it was pretty funny. This is a true story. We're doing like a little shoot with him for something tomorrow on SEC nation. And I threw the tennis ball to him, and he got it. And then I thought he was going to come back to me and he just ran out of the stadium. And so the handler guy who's a lovely man is like running after him. He's like, somebody stopped the dog and no one really had urgency to do it. So then I started running as if I'm going to stop the dog, and I'm running in these ridiculous cowboy boots that I seem to be where I don't know why I keep wearing cowboy boots for whatever. We're in Mississippi this week. I know. Like I'm still in Texas mode, it's fine. So I'm chasing after this dog. I don't even know how far he got, but it was like actually a scary moment. I thought, we're going to have loss juice, kiffin. No. He was like the most famous dignitary here. We got him back here. Spoiler alert, we got him back here. Okay, well, listen, crowd has swelled since Laura has been here. Oh my gosh. I love you guys. Well, no, they're only here because they heard that we were doing an expose on your dating life. So that's why everyone showed up. But guys, that's coming soon, okay? Is anybody here ever dated Laura Rutledge? Oh, anyone? Oh, he has, okay? Cool. Anybody else? Yeah, I remember you. Oh, back there, those Kentucky guys. He has, listen, I have no shame in it. You know what? They're all bring your wealth management fund by and we'll check you out later. And see if you're eligible. It's terrible. I would especially consider the person that said I would go to jail for a year for finally. I wondered how we started this conversation. Actually, I said I'd go for a $120,000. Okay. And you said. Anyway, Laura, once again, never disappoints on Friday afternoon. Oh

"Laura Rutledge, just the most anticipated moment every week on this show. Right? When we all hear about. Nobody actually says that, hey, what is this? Fear somebody with that. Squirrel. You made squirrel. Yeah, well, I saw him. Yeah, this is an arrowhead. That he collects these. He found this in Tennessee and I'm saving it. Just in case I go to prison, I'll use it as a shank. Well, I did see that you answered a question that was asked to you last week about whether you would go to if you had to go to prison for a year, but you would make $5 million. You said you would go to prison for a $100,000. Do you remember that? Yeah, I did. Oh, okay. So you might need this. Well, a $100,000. I'll spend a year in parchment for a $100,000. Yeah, what do you guys think? Is that crazy? Or anybody else do it? No, yeah. Parchment is considered what the worst prison in America. Maybe, you know, I might. I don't know. I've been forced places. Where? Name a few. Okay, I'd rather not say. Okay, yes. Family television. Yeah, no, that's right. I didn't tend to get to those places, but I got there. I know where you've been, Paul. It's scary for people to know. If people only knew the truth about you. I think I might do it for a 120,000 dollars. Okay. Yeah. You're forcing me now to take that to another level. I mean, our friends asked me that and I was just trying to be funny. I mean, we both do a show. A bunch of pretty well off folks. We're the poor people on the show. And then we actually work for a living. We do. And we're trying to scrounge around. So if we could just kind of have a quicker option, it would be a year, but I thought with the way things are, the stock markets. Why not? Plummeted, it's almost nonexistent. And all the money I was planning on buying a motor home and tailgating on college football in my retirement years is now gone. So I'm looking for a quick buck. Wait, don't you guys think? Now by the way, I never want you to retire. I want you to be up here just basically like a pile of dust. You know what I mean? I just don't think we could all survive without you. But if that day ever came, the fact that there could be a possibility of you just motoring around the country and hitting up the best tailgates ever. I mean, here's a reality. This place is so good when it comes to tailgates and everything else. You'd be here a lot, right? You'd be rolling up. I'm moving. Oh, guys, he's moving out. You're newest Oxford resident. Ladies and gentlemen, Paul feinberg. Accepted a job today as an instructor at the school of something. I don't know what it was, but I said, yes. The school of dance. I ran into somebody with the university. I said, I'm looking for a job. He said, you're hired. Yeah, I mean, you know, you have that kind of clout. I do. You're a big clout guy. But I do think it's funny imagining you driving a motor home around and seeing where you would end up and, you know, just living your best life, friend. Early in my adult life. Whose family that's the dangerous time, by the way. Whose family took a motor home every week to auburn. Really? Yes. Where did they live? They lived, not that far from where you used to live in that one. Oh, but so they took the motorhome. Right. And I think the father would drive it down on a Tuesday, which I thought this was crazy, by the way. Why are you getting there on Tuesday? Get a good spot. Oh got it. And then they'd all go back Friday and they'd hang out in this motorhome. Okay, so with the father stay there the whole time. I would leave the motor home and cook. This was a time Laura before you were born. You could leave a motorhome on a college campus. And no one was getting and you were not concerned. Because everybody looked out for each other. We missed those old days. Yeah, those were good old days. And then Friday, they'd all go back and I would drop by for ten minutes on Saturday before they go. What were you doing? I was just fortunate. Well, no, I know what you were doing, but I mean, what were you doing at the RV? Well, I was going. Are you imbibing? Well, no, no, no. But I was going to visit my Friends parents. Got it. You understand all this, don't you? No, this sounds really nice Paul. You know, it's funny 'cause I just painted your early adult years is really wild and crazy. And what you just talked about sounds like a very responsible young adult just trying to be a kind sir. I remember something because I didn't I've never stayed in the motor room and I asked my friend. Was this a man or a woman? Oh. Oh, well, let me just. I'm sorry. Baby watching, okay? Okay, well, listen, lovely lady out there, Paul's early adult friend, friend. And by the way, not a friend, obviously. Was this woman in TV? Was this the one? No, no. Okay, 'cause he did date a woman. Who was in TV. I'm outta here.

"In Arlington and a gorgeous fall day 97° and we welcome in Laura Rutledge. Hey, I know we were on camera. Sorry. Did you have I saw you up there? It looked like you were reading a book, signing. Honestly. I told him I felt like a rotisserie chicken. Just roasting like turning on a spigot. It is so hot up there. 96°, but it was funny because I left Connecticut this morning. And it was like 46. Wow. Fall, you know? Taking it all in. Go to Texas. Boom, and bake. Mac in the face by a hot weather. It's nice over here though. You know, I was going to ask you, I like how you've rolled your sleeves all the way up. Like you turned it into a T-shirt. That's a cool thing about taking the shirt off. I would vote for that. Anybody else? Take it off. Oh, sorry. Thank you. Anybody want to go ahead on that? Oh, they said no, sorry, Paul. No offense. What's going on? I haven't seen you in a whole week. I know I missed you. What is going on? Man, it's been yes. Yeah, I did the buffalo Tennessee game, wasn't much of a game. I thought the balls were playing Florida. Oh, good one, Paul. I must confess, it got out of hand quickly. Yeah, it did. Well, it was funny because it really was a game into the second quarter, ten, 7, and after the first quarter, Sean McDermott the bills head coach kind of said to the team like, hey, you guys are way too amped up. Just calm down. And I guess it worked because then after that, they were kind of on a roll and Josh Allen's unstoppable at this point. So we'll see what happens when they run into two a chunk of a lower in the dolphins though this week. Yeah. Are you talking to NFL on your show ever? When we talk to you. Oh, okay, yeah. That's what I'm here for. But yeah, no, crazy week. How about you? How's your week, Paul? Any drama this week? No. It has been really calm. Yeah, a little bit of drama from auburn, but we expected that. Yeah, yeah, we knew that would happen. You could kind of feel that even when we were there a little bit. It was sort of obviously dependent on the way that the game went, but didn't go in their favor. So I'm curious, do you have a lot of Tennessee fans calling in this week saying, Paul, you better pick Tennessee or, you know, anything like Florida. Oh, you're picking Florida. Yeah. I just figured love it for you, Paul. I don't like this too many people on the Tennessee bandwagon right now. I wouldn't be a contrarian. Are you really gonna pick Florida? Sure. Okay, because I actually, you know the statistics, don't you? Are you the last person in America that hasn't heard what's happened the last time? That's the problem. I've heard it too much, but I will say, I thought you were going to pick Tennessee, so I was planning tomorrow on SEC nation to just throw in a surprise pick. So somebody picked for it. You're going to do it. In Florida gator. Okay, there you go. Let's see your gator chomp again. It's one of my favorite things. Never again. Yeah, we got some interesting ones. And I can't wait to see who you pick an a and M Arkansas, too. Yeah, I mean, I think everyone knows what's happening in the Tennessee game, but the Arkansas game is very tough. A and M a two point favorite the last time I checked. They are, yeah. That could have changed a little bit, but you know, it's interesting because I'm sure have you had Marty on yet today? No. Okay, so he had a conversation with Jimbo Fisher that's going to air in SEC nation tomorrow. But some of the stuff that I'll let him do it, but some of the stuff that he shared with us about that conversation. Made me have a little bit more confidence in a and M that I had, but I still, they're the type of team this year that's so far through a small sample size. You're not sure if you can trust them in a game like this. You feel like Arkansas comes into the game as, you know, maybe they don't have all the physicality or excuse me, all the physical talent that a and M has, but they do have a physical team. They have a team that is consistent and can be at times. I'm concerned about their secondary, but either way, you know, maybe slightly more reliable. That's why you would go with the razorbacks. It's a tough one to pick though. Yeah, well, that's why they have the point spread at two points. Right. They don't want to make these. Right. They're like hey. The Tennessee game is like ten, 11. We have to really be a brave soul. Well, apparently you are, you're picking Florida's. Well, that's today. He's so fickle, you guys. You can't rely on him. I make this new policy. I never liked it. I've already picked this game a couple of times. I know, I know. I've been seeing you pick it. I don't like the, if you pick the game early in the week, then you have to defend it all week. You'd rather just wait until the end. And then you can wish you could be a little wishy question. So I was watching all I know. We picked the yellow shoe, mister to be stay game or not. I just said I wish you because it sounded good. Yeah, you really did. You had all the negativity. People do not like when you don't pick their team. Well, you know what I love too is when the people screenshot the picks and then tweet it out and they're like uh oh, oh you put the clown faces on everyone who picked the team they didn't want us to pick. Yeah, it's funny because it's like they think that we're going to be able to predict everything that's going to be happening in the game. News flash, we can't. By the way, there is a difference between predicting a game and actually putting your own money on a game. I know. Okay, that's true. That's why they're mad because probably because you pick LSU, if they don't have a dog in the fight, you pick LSU, they put money on it because they think, wow, he's Paul fine Bobby. The mouth of the south in the airport and maybe there's a TSA agent.

"Washington, it's not lying. It's just not opening your mouth. But I still love telling each other. That didn't bother me that he misled the old mis rebels. The funniest thing is you were telling that story. I believe in his presence at a golf tournament a few years ago. He was like, oh yeah, that's true. All of it. The truth comes out. Paul, how was your Thanksgiving? What are you? Considering things that you usually like to eat. I wonder what you eat on Thanksgiving. What do you have? I'm going to sound like every other guest on the fine bomb. Just the usual. As in like, as in like a shrimp cocktail and what happened at I know you weren't home. No, yeah, we went to the Mackey inside. Got to see my family in Atlanta and then we went to the Rutledge side yesterday and I think the Rutledge Thanksgiving is still going on. So there's more than happening today. Yeah, we were in Coleman, Alabama. Did the people of common Alabama realize that you were there yesterday? They would not care about me, but they might care more about Reese though at this point. Reese was there too, and so is their prince charming Josh. Josh Rutledge was there back home. Welcome to he is kind of like the big deal there. Yeah. The pride of high school, college. Yeah, it's weird, though, because Channing Tatum is apparently from cold and Alabama too. So I think it was slight battle here. Well, I don't want to say the second most famous because famous actor that went to my high school and they came out with an article once about the two most famous people and I came in second. I was a little bit hurt. Yeah, how dare they? You're the most famous person really anywhere. In fact, you know, I've got to tell you, I don't know how familiar you are with TikTok, but I've dabbled a little bit in TikTok. Guys, how are you? You're not talking to your grandfather here. I mean close. The chicken wants you to pay attention, okay? Laura forgot that we did a TikTok thing together. Well, we did. So actually, I have no idea. Get on TikTok. Well, here's what I would tell you. You guys will totally back me up here. Paul is probably the most requested on TikTok. So we actually did one without you last week and everybody said well, where's Paul? Well, sure. So, you know, I think we're gonna do another one today. I'm gonna incorporate the chicken. So tune in to TikTok to find out what it's all about. The reality is I'm worried that Tim Cook is going to get in the way of my TikTok with you. Because he's probably going to show up and you'll be all conflict with Apple. I don't know. Apple owns all the apps. Yeah, we should ask him. That would be a good old line. Hey, how do you know? Yeah, well, I was thinking about the last time we saw him. It was when we were riding in that bus to a dinner and he was in the bus with us. And we were all asking him what he thought the best product was and he said the air buds. I told him I'd been in the Apple store the day before in New York and I saw the price..

"I sandwich was so bad and I really had sandwiches. But let's be honest here. Between the two of us your music plays. I did offer you. You did, but between the two of us who needs the calories more. This guy, not this girl over here. Paul, I'm gonna go to my nursing home party now because obviously I wish you would be ready for that. I wish you had taken a half a sandwich. It would have really made me feel no, but you ended up you actually offered it to me, but then you ate it, so it was no longer available. Hey, would you like? After I've taken a bite out of it, hey, you want this? Sounds good. I'll eat that for you any day Paul finebaum. I'm gonna tweet about how bad the services tonight Rutledge. I don't know why they're taking this off the year, but thank you. Enjoy your time in first class, Paul. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Yeah, let's try one more time. We're having a little bit of audio issues. Brian, can you hear me? Carson is up next. Carson, can you hear me? Yes, I can hear you Paul, how are you? Perfect. Yeah, apologize for those of you who are hearing nothing. We were having a bit of a audio glitch out here. And I think we got that worked out. Go right ahead. Hey, I had two questions for you regarding Georgia, Mizuno tomorrow. Yes. With mazouz starting quarterback out, what do you think the margin of victory will be this weekend for Georgia and Missouri? Well, Vegas has the line of 39. To me, that's a big number because I think at some point, Georgia gets the game in hand and then wraps it up. So I don't in watching Georgia this year, they're dominant, but I think they'd like to get JT Daniels a couple of series just to get him acclimated, but I don't see any reason why Kirby smart wants to put 50 or 60 points on the board. There's no real upside to it. Even though, against Georgia, against Missouri, that's not really a serious challenge. Carson, thank you for the call. We are we've had quite a show. We've been here for three hours. We had so many fantastic guests from Tim Tebow to Holly row at Tuscaloosa. We've had a number of great guests out here including a Porter Garner, the CEO of the former students will come back and talk to the vice Chancellor and athletic director.

"Bob Howe, that's extraordinary that you've pulled through that. Tell me about that. Well, three times I was out of the hospital three times as I was in there. All I can tell you is all 6 times, I knew that I had died Paul and I was still thinking just like I was thinking before I died. Let me ask you a question because I know this sounds strange, but I think we all are curious about what it's like. I'm not speaking spiritually here. I'm just speaking in terms of how you were feeling physically. As you think you are going, I mean, what is going through your mind? Well, Paul, it happened to me all 6 times and just part of a second maybe one 100th of a second. I was just gone and when it happened, I was sort of talking to myself like we all talked to our sales and I said, you just died and you are dead. It's just crazy, Paul, when I hear myself say this, I wonder if people think I'm crazy, but I'm not. When you let me ask you this, when you came back and you realized that you had not died, what was going through your mind other than the fact that you were alive? Well, I was kind of out of it in a way, but it took me a little bit 5 or ten minutes to kind of come fully back to where I was, but everything just came back and I guess I was just stunned, but here I am and I wake up every morning and thank God, I'm a devout Christian Paul. And let me tell you how your successful in this life either you earned a trip to heaven and eternal life or if you're a 5 year you go into the like a fire. Well, bob, I am especially pleased to hear from you. That is really an inspirational story both in terms of what you dealt with in your faith. You be well and thank you so much for sharing that. Could I get on address for you? I need to mail some very thanks to you. Yeah, bob. I will put you on hold. And the person will get you our studio address and I'll look forward to hearing from you. You'd be well, my friend. Always good to hear from you. We are going to head for the break. We've had lane tiffin up here, right Thompson, Tim Tebow, Roman Harper, Jordan Rogers a few minutes ago. Laura Rutledge is next. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Welcome back. We are live in Oxford at the grove. I think the last time Laura Rutledge and I were here, I ended up getting a flu shot. I was just thinking about that the other day. You totally did. I'd happen right in this general vicinity. And we were sitting there. I'm like, is Paul really gonna do this? Because I don't know if that's really in line with things that you would normally do. But you got wild and crazy, you get that first shot. I got the flu shot, and I think I almost died a couple of months later. I don't know what I have. He got like a little loopy, which is not unusual for you, but it was a little bit alarming, but anyway, it was great by the pharmacy. I've seen that picture before. I like my tongue sticking out. And he's a local pharmacist here. Yeah, it was great. Yeah. I'm telling what kind of shots you'd bring us back tonight. Well, let's not find out. Wow, what a day it's been here. It started with lane train. I know you've heard from him. I saw that. You know, I was over there trying to get once again, my daily crowd battle with you on Fridays, trying to get the crowd to come over with me and nobody would. I mean, it was once again, it was like, I have no friends. Everyone wants to go over to Paul. And I don't blame him. You are, you are the face of college football. You're the face of the SEC. As much as I don't know, maybe lane train thinks he's the face. I think he is. Oh, you're so funny Paul. I heard you were saying that his visor looked like other coaches. It didn't look like him. Yeah, yeah. I saw a picture of the two of us and I just said, why is Dan moan in auction? If you like that. Yeah, hey, speaking of Dan Mullen, where are we going next week for nation? That is a good question. So let me do this slowly. Okay. There are a lot of option I drum roll. There are a lot of options next week. Yep. A couple of there's almost auburn game next week. That's a great one. They're really good. If you're an old missing aubergine I think I already gave it away by my hint there, though, Paul. Okay, so I've already made reservations for Jacksonville. Should I keep them? Yes. That's easy. It's going to Jacksonville as we are want to do. We have continued to go to Jacksonville every single year in the beginning of this show. It's one of our favorite shows of the entire year. We'll be at lot pee outside the stadium, so come check us out. Once again, as usual, ten a.m. eastern on SEC network. And if you want to come out, you can be on TV, get to see all these guys here. I think Tim Tebow is gonna be there too. Yeah. Don't tell anybody about this but Friday an exclusive interview with urban Meyer. Oh. You just broke some news to me. I didn't know. That would be on Jacksonville local radio, but got it got it cool. All right, well big teaser from Paul there. But yeah, we'll see Jacksonville next week we can't wait. That will be fun. We try not to do this, but there's already some peaking ahead of that game. It's hard not to. Well, here's the thing. A lot of the SEC west I think is going to take a little bit of time to be decided and obviously it depends on the games. But the SEC east can be decided next week. You need a couple things to happen. But a lot of people think it's already been decides well, I agree, but you never know what kind of wrench people can throw into it. And so from that standpoint, I think that game has a lot of buzz around it as usual. Either way, the cool thing is, it always feels like that week. There aren't other great games. So we end up being really focused on Florida, Georgia..

"Telling you, it's right here. If I had a mic, I would drop it. Yeah, that's what we're all taught. I mean, listen, everyone loves the games, but you and I know that the people that sit in chairs like we sit in, that's what we're watching. Sure. And watching these two you're right and push comes to shove and we've seen this act before. That's what you're getting. What does it mean that Jimbo knocked him off? I know that's not a direct core to Kirby. But it is, it shows there's blood dropping. I mean in the past in the past people might have taken some encouragement from that. But there's been blood in the water since Florida had them on the ropes. Again. Because for a fact should be another studio because they were sitting near him, but jumbo, when these two teams met in 2017, he was pulling for Nick Saban. Not that he cared about one another national chamber. He didn't want Kirby to be the first guy. Well, that's good for Jim bow. Let's give him a participation award because he hasn't won anything yet, and he still makes $9 million a year and all he's got is a participation award for beating an Alabama team. Florida should have beaten Nick Saban. I could have called a better play than a draw at the goal line, Dan Mullen, and I mean, good grief. I mean, so he's the first to win. That's good. The Texas a and M fans can feel great about it. That's wonderful. Are they pretty good? They're gonna play the SEC championship? No, but hey, we beat Nick Saban. Okay, that's good. Go get your drink, standing in the corner. Because the main attraction is going to be Georgian, Alabama, in the SEC championship game, Kirby's had these guys on the ropes before. This year, he's got the front 7 and the dogs to get it done. It comes down to players and give Alabama credit. They've had great players making great plays in big moments. These guys are the ones doing that now. And this group right here, Paul, they're not intimidated. They're not psyched out. They've been in the top 5 four straight years again, another day at the office in Athens. We expect Georgia to win these football games. And so the odd makers, by the way, the line is what 23 points over the number 11 team in the country? There is no one like my Griffith and we certainly love having him on Mike. Thank you. We kid around, but nobody can do what you have just got through doing. We appreciate it very, very much. Outstanding. For those of you on radio, we will be right back. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Kirby smart joining us a few minutes. Laura Rutledge before we get to, I want to get your reaction because you covered so much of Don's daily. I mean, that was a remarkable moment there in Colombia. Yeah, it was. Here's the thing about Don staley. I think when we look back on just coaches throughout college athletics, she's going to be remembered as one of the greatest when her career is over and I'm saying that as somebody that she's going to have an extensive career beyond now, but just even the history that's already happened for her, the remarkable moments that she continues to be a part of. I am so impressed. And she's one of my favorite coaches to cover to watch. I think it's just amazing to see what she has accomplished and what continues to happen for that program. We'll have her in her dog champ who visited me a couple of weeks ago on the champ. I heard the champ wants to be your pen pal, but you I don't know if you've responded yet. You have too many other pen pals. I have a lot of dogs, dog Friends. Yeah. You know what? It's funny. Sometimes people ask me, is Paul is Paul fine but I'm like a nice person. Like, no, he's absolutely not. Unless you're a dog. In that case, he will love you. He will kiss you. Your moments with dogs have been borderline inappropriate like borderline PG-13 moments. Yeah, there was one, I do regret, and it happened right here. It was a Tennessee Georgia game and I've apologized to smoky. I was a very nice. As you have seen firsthand, smokey and I have an awkward relationship. Yeah, well, Paul, it's really cool. I got a price I said, smokey, get out of the way. You're like, I'll give this is my favorite dog. I know, I love smokey, so beautiful. It's beautiful, too. The thing is, it's rare for you to have an awkward relationship. So I don't know how that happened. But Bluetooth are a little bit different. Let me put it that way. So the dog pound association of America doesn't come after me. Oh boy. Yeah, you can't yourself in trouble already today. We're like, what, two minutes into this, we're already in trouble? Every week. We're like, they're like, oh no, what are they gonna do this? Well, I had a ESPN actually here's a retired executive. So I'm not really a little bit concerned what he thinks. But he was texting me during our segment last week saying get back to football. And I'm like, that's not what we do. Also, we talk so much football. I mean, sometimes everyone just needs a little break. I talk football all day long with you. People just don't we just can't share those moments in those texts. Because as we wouldn't be good for either one of us. So we're here on the campus of the university of Georgia. The number one team in the country. I mean, it's hard to wrap your arms around that. It's not if you watch Georgia play. And this is what I think is really impressive. I mean, look, here's the reality. Something needed to happen elsewhere. You needed Alabama to get knocked off. But Georgia has the most impressive unit in college football, which is their defense. And so, therefore, a complete team on the other side too. Sets and Bennett does not get enough credit. All this conversation he was a fourth. I thought he was the third. Oh, well, yeah. I mean, there have been three others before him. Maybe some others before that. You never know. I want to meet those other steps in that now let's find him. What a name. I love it. But it is remarkable what he's done. And what they've.

I believe that there is a certain generation of razorback fans that hates texas more than themselves. Well it's interesting Coach by earlier and he made he he. He alluded a statement. He made earlier this summer. That these guys texas. That's that's the biggest rival. Some fans didn't know it is. It is see what i love about the what i love about the game that we're broadcasting here. Saturday night is that it's got a lot of the past. It's got a lot of the present but it's got a very very attractive future because the past is nineteen sixty nine and winning the national championship. Richard nixon's nineteen eighty-one lou. "Clinton gates we at the undefeated telling stories that remind people who we are as a culture is living breathing entity in all parts of american society. It's not just history books and social media y'all we contain multitudes and everyone deserves to be heard so listen follow and let's have a conversation. Listen or follow black history always wherever you get your podcast andrea. I mean this is a game. Am fans expect to win. And and what's interesting about. An is their their schedule is very back. Loaded in fans or just obsessing over that alabama game. But you have to play the game. You understand that as an athlete. How do you. How do you mentally get ready for games when you know. You're a huge favourite. You know there's probably not much chance of losing. And in spite of what your coaches tell you. What's the mindset When when you when you have a game like this to start the season out of the players that i talked to yesterday. I talked to kenyan green on the offensive line. I talked to leon. O.'neil senior who's in the in the back field on the defense and both of them like they're approached. They feel like they were snubbed. Last season and so for me as an athlete. I think what i would think. Is you take every game extremely seriously because for them. It's not about beating kent state. It's about how they beat can't stayed. It's about the plays that they make against kent state. Ken state's got a strong quarterback dustin chrome he is not a nobody he threw for over a thousand yards in four games last season so i think that they're taking the approach. How do they win. Games what do they make. Can they make a statement because they've got a chip on their shoulder so i don't think it's going to be hard for these guys. Get fired up for any of the games on their schedule. Even in the beginning of the season. Under before you go. I want to elaborate on that. Because athletes with a chip on their shoulder or not that is not on that is not uncommon And it usually shows the mark of of a really great athlete and a really great team knows what didn't happen right to previous year. How how does that play into the psyche of of trying to have a banner year which am fans are counting on. I think it's just energy. It plays into it because the energy that they bring it. And there's the passion that they play with even tighten jalen watermark today. We talked to him and he said they bring it. Every day in practice they treat practice like a national championship game so that chip on their shoulder. It's like fuel to the fire so texas a. and m. fans. They can definitely get excited. Because these guys are taking every little thing seriously. They felt like they had a great season last year and didn't make the college playoffs and that really means a lot to them. It hits them hard. And they're not gonna forget about it. Thanks so much andrea. Carter joining us from kyle field. That game is to morrow night. Am and can stay. We are racing through so many great this afternoon. We're not done yet. Laura rutledge will join us next listening to the paul. Finebaum show podcast. Laura rutledge rejoining program. And laura sean mcdonald chairman of guy. I know you're a couple of hours. You guys are friends with him and he was walking away. He's i got a bone to pick with you on my going. Sean sean mcdonough doesn't have bones figured anyone right usually. Yeah i mean. I really did not like what you had to say about. Reese rutledge paul that things making some waves fired reese as a as a picture on the show because she picked clemson and listen. Like i'm with you. But what i will say is what if reese is right. I think we need a wager that was. That was the quintessential laura being. I say the word on the air. But it wasn't that i had. I didn't care if it was your daughter or anybody's anybody's baby. Meghan markle's dog. I really didn't. It didn't matter to me. I just wanted to fire someone that had been so long like you really have been so incredibly gracious to everyone firing anybody. I felt like i was glad about it because it felt like we got back to vintage. Finebaum is start firing people. I don't care that you fired a twenty two month old but whatever. You're such a savage though. I know we set a record. The thing is like hey to break you. But she's picking the miami alabama game tomorrow so she actually is not fired yet bugger. We'll talk about it for next week. Reese if you're watching. She's watching your. I don't know how to describe myself in department. Usually your uncle paul. But i think i'm too old to know your god. Okay godfather. i actually think that sounds like a good segment for your show godfather feinban so i i feel like we've all asked the same questions over and over again. That always happens. The first we talk season. We did this show last night. I'm sure tomorrow morning. Sec nation will be completely different right. Yeah we got none of these same topics. I it is funny. Everyone sick and talking about the same stuff over and over again. We're in the same boat for hours a day. But but that's the beauty of the eve that we're on right now. Obviously we already had college football even beginning Even last week. Sec football started last night but it feels like tomorrow is the real beginning of it. I think we're gonna know a lot with what we see. And i with all due respect. I mean we're inside right now We won't be inside again until the sec. Championship game and there. There's something about getting out again. And i know you you dealt with covert last year on the show and and you were. You were doing what from. I was doing a little studio in bristol connecticut. It didn't quite feel like the sec. I know that's a shocker. Everybody paul. I'm so excited to your point. Just even seeing the few fans that are milling about here at the college football hall of fame. It brings the joy back that we love so much. And that's why we do this. That's where we are here for. I think to go back on campuses again to feel that vibe to be amongst people to be able to talk to these fans about their teams. I can't wait. I just thought as you were talking and you kind of have a montage. Your mind and i was thinking about all the experiences on college campuses and the audience could just give me a second here. I thought of what i think is the most the memory that is etched in my mind. The most it was maybe the first year you are on the show of the second. I can't remember and we had a quick getaway. And i kept telling you we gotta go. And i'm looking at my phone..

"Included. But that's not exactly what we're watching and certainly not what we just heard from. Joe yeah you know. I heard a few different ways to look at sincere. Certainly with joe's talking about is incredibly exciting right. That's that's something that everybody hopes will have to. You'll see that in weather. You realize you hope it right now or not you will end up to to joe's point you'll look back and say you know this was so important in what we wanted this for common and what what is best for the athletes which ultimately many of them will be professionals. It just matters what time that happens. You know i think to win you talk about from a fan perspective. What this is actually going to be like. And that's what a lot of fans wanna know like. Well what does this mean for me. You know. I've heard for many fans who've said we don't want them. We don't need texas in oklahoma. Well okay fine. But if you're that worried about and then just go out and beat them right. That's what this all comes down to. Just find a way to be better than texas and oklahoma ultimately it makes the conference better makes traditions better as we've said multiple times your it makes college football veteran. It does change the way that this all looks. I think for a fan. If you're looking for what to really be excited about. Go on the road. Go in and see texas game down the road. See them playing your team. You know go experience. Their traditions their towns go to oklahoma goto to norman. There's an incredible football tradition. There go and see their facilities. See what their fan base is like. Welcome their fans with open arms when they end up coming to campus. You know these texas fans. He's oklahoma fans in fact. I was actually speaking lincoln riley the head coach of oklahoma last night. He was saying to me how excited they are. They are so excited for this. And and listen you know. Maybe you say that's offensive to the big twelve wealth at this point. That's in the past right now. What we're looking toward the future. And i think there's a lot on all sides to religious. Be happy about to be anticipating in a way that we never thought we could. Joe let me give you the last word here and we only have a couple of seconds left translation however long you wanna go But from a historical standpoint. You've already alluded to this moment in time but but look look a little bit broader in the course of college football history. Where where do you think this moment will will be regarded number one fork in the road that sport has ever known. There are many forks in the road. The sport has had obviously what happened in the court system in the early eighties of the colleges getting their tv rights back in their hands was significant. It paved the way for what we saw for the next thirty five years. This is far different than that. And i know on the surface level looks like one thing today. I see. this is very different than that because college. Football has long been the second biggest sport in america however writes things certain marketing agreements It's still acts like a regional sport in certain pockets in certain extremists. So what this is is not just a market correction. It's really the start of filling. The gap of realized value of where the sport truly should be what it's worth. And what are the realities. Aw of it. It's been burdens and anchored with an archaic system with some regional ties with the divisions and conferences with certain media rights. And this is the first of seeing somebody and thank god for greg thank. You wouldn't even the end the position. And i'm not saying the sec. The entire sports wouldn't be in the position. The sport is void of leadership that almost collapse it one year ago right now and thank god. Somebody stepped up. The leader and said were marching forward. And now it's not just. We're marching forward. But i'm being strategic with business and saying here's where the sport must go to realize its fullest potential. And that's what's happening. We are filling that gap to realize value in the course of the next five to ten years. This will be not a super conference. It'll be college football league and in student athlete college football as renewing joe territory and laura. Thank you both so much. I could do this all day and forever. But they're telling me we have to wrap it up. I'm not going anywhere. We are talking. We will be here all day. So i'm good with new other espresso please bring. I'm in my car from the birthplace greg. Sankey and bikes live ri- right. Now upstate new york beautiful adirondack with you paul. thank you both. We are coming right back. I think math says when to great things come together. They make something greater. For instance plus one is two simple right. How about this shrunk plus hotdog.

"Espn app download now for back. Sec media days live from hoover alabama. Love saying that. This is how it all began about an hour ago. Brent ironman from the houston chronicle raking the story the texas oklahoma. Reach out to the sec. Just drove by lincoln. Riley and dave keita's. Hey hey can we get on to to let us on the buzz i. It's interesting lara. Because this is now the story of the week and in fairness to everyone who puts us on. This is not really what you want in the middle of already. The busiest week but it the early first our read. The story is almost like they're they're desperate that we really want them. And i'm not sh- forget. I'm not sure that's clearly not this is i mean these things. Just don't happen this. No that's interesting so you think the first hour read is there's desperation on their end. Because raspy organ jimbo helped shape that everything starts the first couple of in the twitter verse. Ross york-based we got out of there. Yeah jimbo. Like who wouldn't want to be. And i think until this thing settles down a little bit and it made by the end of the day because i think there's going to be some pretty hard reporting overnight that indicates there is a lot of veracity right now but there's some flippancy to right now right. Let let. Let's let's say that this is true right. Let's let's believe in the reporting that's being done by a credible reporter and we live in some world where it is being considered by the sec. Potentially because if you have powerhouse programs a program in oklahoma that has been in the college football playoff and then a texas that yes. They've been down but it's the name recognition like texas and there. I'm just playing devil's advocate here. There knocking on your door saying hey we want to bring. All of our revenue are fans to bring all of that to the sec. You're probably going to listen right even if it but then if you're texas amy like we don't want that other scotland. Tell us at this conference. And here's why some people say well. It used to be the texas who wouldn't want to get in the sec. They were literally but are too good for their that. Things have changed absolutely and now you would say well. Why does he. Sec think about this. I if the sec for whatever it's worth wouldn't want them before you say that if you say we don't want you what happens. They're going somewhere else. Good point because either way if assuming this is factual they're getting out of the big twelve. You can say farewell to that because the big twelve without those schools. The big ten thirty. What are the pros from the standpoint as a conference not just individual team point. What are the pros for texas. And oklahoma. i missed answering questions on saturday morning. I think you're quite good at that. The pros are the most important pro is this. They are brand heavy. Every game with texas every game with oklahoma is a must see television event and in the world that we live in laura. I know you don't follow this very closely. Working at the worldwide leader in bristol. Connecticut is a gold mine for a company like the one that employs the two of us. There is an sec. Deal coming to run very excited about the partnership with disney. No doubt and that's a big part of this and it just creates this supernova conference. It's already the supreme conference. But i mean i'm still somewhat breathless and trying to describe the impact of of of the university of texas and oklahoma. I it's it's it's massive and we're we're talking about football but it goes across the board right but you know just think about the games i- casual alabama texas game in october or an oklahoma georgia game or or any of these games. It is it kind of makes you salivate from just fan perspective to think about but you also wonder i mean there's so many ripple effects here it's like are you expanding the schedule to where now these players are playing an even more games which has already been an issue in the conversations around the proposals for the college football playoff at least from the standpoint of some of these teams like dabo sweeney and clemson who say we don't want that we don't wanna play in more games jimbo fisher says he's all for of course they're the team that's on the cost. The playoff missing out this past year. But if you're greg sankey here do you say yeah come on over or do you say no. I've got to maintain the sanctity of what we are Exactly laura adds more value and by the way would it also means that everyone else will be scrambling i was you. Were in junior high ten years ago when the last explosion happened. It was one of the most exciting stories with every team. Whether you're west virginia whether you're across the country you're saying where where are we going and that doesn't happen very often. The the new packbell of commissioner just sent out a tweet. Obviously the guy has a sense of humor. And i love those he says just when i thought my first job could not get any more interesting. George here you go. It's worth remembering the pac twelve started this believe in two thousand and ten when they almost grabbed texas and oklahoma state and that really brought on what we now have in the sec with am in missouri because it it set off a chain of events which which is the only person i feel. Sorry for is a person who has to come up with a new schedule for the. Sec is still recovering from from the lab from adding and but but anyway it is your car keys and you probably think this is great news. If you're a couple of other coaches you're going okay. Now i gotta play alabama florida georgia texas and oklahoma. You think this is happening the way you're talking about it and you think is happening. We'll ask the head coach of this of the involved the most in a minute. Thanks so much. Thank you.

"I'm sure online ordering a dream. Second drugs anybody that to remember this but it's not called that either butter. I remember when the ice. We'll get back to the oklahoma texas story in a minute. But i just remember being a kid running when the when the ice cream. Okay like yeah come on. This is going to go into my journalistic hall of fame Award when i've been talking about the biggest story put potentially in modern ice cream trucks. But the point laura that i don't even remember what the question well you were saying. That bryce young and the supposed- nearing one million dollars. Yeah you've you've sat here watching nick sabin. You've interviewed him on thousand times. I've have never heard nick. Sabin nut give a coherent answer and he did not get one. Today he gave a. I'm i'm not saying anymore. So i've i've got my standard. I may be wrong next year. So i'm just gonna keep answering it that way. Yeah that's what he that's what he ended up reverting to an in the funny thing is about all this is i respect that in a way but it's also like what's going to be wrong. We don't know what wrong is going to be. He's worried about people having receipts a year from now in saying well you said this about his money and that money and and either way. I don't know if this amount is true. I don't know it seems a little high to me totally honest. This might be too close or any of the numbers that are reported by the media about salaries ever extra usually overblown from what i can tell. Or or under-blown depending on the particular scenario so exactly there cannot be how true that is or isn't true. The reality is it does help recruiting you know and that's a big piece in all of this. I'm not saying that nick. Saban is is putting this out there to help recruiting. Because i don't believe that he is but it's just gonna be a piece of what the conversation will be leading up to the season during the season and you do wonder about these locker rooms. I'm not one to sit here and try to invent locker room drama and try to say that that's going to be a thing but you've got to think that there are some of these players that look over to their right and left and say wait a second. He's making that. And and i'm over here grinding. And i don't have anything you know because that happened in any other industry. Oh man. I can't relate but it just seems to me that first of all saving alluded to some people today that he was talking to this convention yesterday of high school coaches in san antonio and he didn't think the media was here. I think he knew exactly what he was doing. I think he measured the reaction on the way back. I said let's just leave it right there on a good story. That's an interesting theory because that story. I mean the second that it happened of course lane kiffin asked about it and i actually ran into lane kiffin. After he was on the podium he goes. I had no idea that the number could even been that high. It wasn't even in an you. Could you could see genuine shock. Coach kiffin 's face when when it was asked of him so yeah that one was plopped right in there where the other anything he would have said. First of all. Nick sabin are about the most recruiting. And he's already sent a memo in the state of texas. Yeah if you're a quarterback this you don't go to orange hear jimbo say that the state of texas has so many resources from the standpoint of an i l. and things that players can do for themselves and then he also said that people have been doing those he goes people have been doing name imaging likeness for all this time but now it's just legal. Did you hear that you were getting miked up. So the worst the worst place to cover this here. I know you had no idea what's going on. I'd rather watch it from home one of these times. Maybe next year i will. I'll probably be. I'd probably be forced to watch. You'll be obvious fired from any of this city mississippi. I can't wait please. Welcome me with open arms. We will take a break I feel like i'm stealing for another segment but We'll we'll talk a few more minutes about some things because we haven't talked a long time. It's not that we're sharing this with the audience. I just want to catch up. Yeah the this'll be in the commercial break. If we come back you know. We're still talking and be fine..

The Cowboys did not Jack Prescott did Jack press cop Doc Prescott. His family did. But this is a big time swing and miss for the Cowboys. I think that they took a calculated risk. You know, they tried to be patient and patient and patient and didn't want to do something like the Rams and the Eagles did. But man, that is a ton of money to give that Prescott What should the expectation Level B for cowboy fans this year? This year. It Luis, You're stuck in second round of the playoffs. Sniffing your NFC championship game, You know, like here's Here's. This is what my comment is with this, and it's the old saying too much is given much is expected. This is why I was very cautious of giving Dak Prescott a ton of money or second most quarterback money. It's going to impact your football team and we can't snow sit here and say, Well, he's really good. But the expectation status, saying the expectations have to be elevated. Not only individually Hey, what are left tackles out. We still have to win the game on the road against the New York Jets because they stink or when we don't have a Mark Cooper. We still got to play good at the position because you're supposed to be And a difference maker. When it comes to the finances. It's a bad division. I still have to wait to see what happens in Washington at the quarterback spot. If they got a quarterback that I thought was a good player arrived.
