"Accustomed to using cruise control, that's a big no-no so us using that, while it's raining can be dangerous. Because if you hydroplane your vehicle is actually going to accelerate in are in cruise control. So make sure that the minute you get into a rainstorm take the cruise control off. So you'll have full control of the wheel. And if you do hydroplane, take your foot off the gas, slowly. You don't want to slam on the brakes just maintain speed. Keep your hand on the wheel and eventually, you will you will regain control but it can be a little scary when that happened. No kidding for those who have team drivers constant source of worry if you're a parent, I went through that three different times, what are some tips to help keep them safe? Parents have. Got to be role models. First of all, make sure that you are doing what you tell them to do. You know, not just saying it, but certainly not using your phone and you know, making kids aware of the dangers of it. If you're going fifty five miles an hour, you can show kids that you're actually traveling eighty feet per second. So that means even glancing now for just a few seconds to look at social media or text message means that you have traveled the distance of a football field while you were incredibly distracted. So, you know, these kinds of little lessons for kids and just being a role model for them. I think is a great way to make sure that they're doing what they're supposed to do. You can also certainly limit their use to the phone, but with some apps that are out there that make it very difficult for them to use the phone at all while they're in motion. Moreover good tips, and I hope you have a sound and save summer yourself. Thanks so much more. Formation, Laura Adams dot com or driver's Ed dot com. It's twenty propel insurance.

"And no she was not a drinker. In fact, she was a teetotaler didn't drink at all. But that doesn't protect you when you're out on the highway. So it occurred to me that it would be appropriate to talk with Laura Adams about why this holiday season could be exceptionally deadly Laura is the safety and education analyst at driver's Ed dot com, MS Adams, welcome to the program. Thank you for having me. So tell me this this season in particular is going to be a danger. One described for me why or for my audience Y. Yeah. It really is every holiday season, we know hundreds of lives are lost to drunk driving accidents during the Christmas period alone, an average of forty five people die an alcohol related accidents. And and that number increases to fifty four per day over the new year holiday. So this is definitely a challenge every year. But we also know that increased winter challenges like increase snow, sleet, blizzard all of these things kind of pile on top of the the challenges with drinking and driving to make it even worse for drivers. So, you know, this is also something that we're battling when we're talking about distractions as well more people are on their phones and texting while they're driving. So when you layer on all these distractions and challenges, I think this year could be the most dangerous that we've seen and that even though we've got at least a couple of innovations from the last. Couple of years that that could make it safer and believe me, I'm not saying this out of turn I use some of the ride sharing services as well. Not so much for you know, for drinking reasons, although if my wife, and I decided to go out to dinner, and and have a couple of adult beverages than than we take an Uber home. I think it sensible, and it, and it doesn't cost too terribly much. You can take a cab if Uber isn't available. But Lubar I always thought when it first came around even before I never had a chance to use. It seemed like one of those things that probably was going to save some lives if only people would actually use it. That's right. I use it as well. And love it. And also to your point even if you're not drinking, maybe you're going to an area town that you're not. You're just not sure where to park or went the traffic pattern is going to be like, and, you.

"What's up friends i'm laura adams author of the award winning book money girl's smart meets world thanks for joining me on another weekly addition of the money girl podcast where my mission is to help you master your money so you can live rich and love the journey i just got back from a fantastic vacation on the rhine river we did a cruise from amsterdam to switzerland it was fantastic if you've never been on a river cruise i highly recommend it it's a really great way to see a lot in a short period of time and you're in a narrow river the whole way so you get to see scenery on both sides of the boat constantly it was really beautiful so when i got back i had a couple of questions related to choosing retirement account so i thought that i would dedicate this show to that topic it really is important because retirement accounts are very important tools that you can use to build wealth for the future and they're complicated so they confuse a lot of people and i think hold people back from using them because they do come with a lot of rules and regulations so if you are confused at all by tax advantaged retirement accounts and you're wondering what options you have this show is definitely for you you're gonna learn how to choose retirement accounts and what may surprise you is that you're probably eligible for multiple accounts and while it's great to have more choices than fewer choices it can certainly cause analysis paralysis when you're trying to choose which retirement accounts a right for you which ones you're eligible for cetera so instead of getting caught in a fog of retirement confusion i want you to get clarity on these accounts using one or more retirement accounts to suck away savings on a regular basis is the best way to build wealth for the future so in this podcast you're gonna learn three simple steps to choose the right accounts for your situation and i'm going to work in the answers to a couple of the questions on this topic.

"Uhhuh hey everyone i'm laura adams thanks for joining me on the money girl podcast where my mission is to master your money so you can live rich and love the journey if you've been listening to the show for a while you know that i talk about the importance of credit for your entire financial life even if you don't want a credit card or you don't wanna borrow money to finance something big like a car or home your credit still impacts what you pay for certain types of products and services like insurance utilities and cellphones plus your credit is typically reviewed when you make an application to rent an apartment or to get hired for a job it's also a factor in government benefits so no matter your situation your credit is a major factor that you need to keep an eye on and need to think about improving if it's not in good shape right now so this show is going to talk about nine nah negative items that stay on your credit reports and even if you've got great credit you might be surprised how many different types of negative items can appear and how long they can haunt you and actually hurt your credit so it's good to be familiar with what those items are so you can avoid them in the first place and then understand what to do if you do have a negative item that's on your credit reports so just to back up you probably know that the purpose of your credit file with the major bureaus and when i talk about the major bureaus they are equifax experience and trans union they allow creditors and merchants to see a complete picture of your financial life into evaluate you accurately so your credit file is is this living thing that grows as you have new accounts in new information and it can shrink as that information expires and falls off and it's important to note that a credit bureau doesn't make judgments or lending decisions they simply maintain your credit report and it's a history of data that gets reported to them so the good news is that positive credit information can stay on your credit history indefinitely and at least for ten years but the bad news and what can come as a surprise to many people is that negative.

"Uhhuh hey everyone i'm laura adams welcome back to the money girl podcast where my missions master your money so you can live rich and love the journey i've got a great show for you today i'm going to be talking about micro habits and we all struggle with trying to layer in new positive behavior into our lives and getting rid of any negative behavior so i think the tips today will really help you lay the foundation for both short and long term success with your health wealth and happiness i try to be very critical about my own repetitive behaviors and thought patterns to make sure that they're really moving me closer to my goals and not farther away from them and sometimes it's really small things that we do that end up having the biggest impact on our life and i'll admit that breaking old habits and forming new beneficial no one's isn't always easy but i've found that one way to create more financial success is to simply begin layering simple micro habits into your routine and they're called micro habits because they require very minimal effort and motivation and even time to complete them and you're already doing many of these you've got many tiny daily habits like brushing your teeth or taking vitamins any small step that allows you to stop a negative habit or to start a positive one is what i call a micro habit they take little time but they can add up to huge massive results when you make them part of your routine so in this podcast i'm going to recommend seven micro habits that can create more professional and personal financial success in your life this is episode number five hundred thirty eight called seven micro habits that create financial success is.

"Hello friends i'm laura adams and this is the money girl podcast what i do every week is hope you live rich and love the journey if you've been following for a while you know that each podcast episode is a whole lot more than just a podcast it's really a mini training where i focus on a topic that either in the news or something that i think is important for you to know maybe it's a question that i received from a listener or several listeners and that's how i got the topic for today's show i received several questions within just a few days about the same topic and i thought well this would be a great time to go ahead and put together a show for you i love today's topic because one way to improve your finances radically and to build wealth is creating more revenue streams or more ways to make money and i can tell you from experience that's really how i have been able to grow my wealth when i was able to get into business for the first time and then get into multiple businesses and have multiple streams of revenue that's really where i was able to accumulate wealth and savings and achieve a lot of my financial goals but i know that when you make the move from let's say a regular 95 corporate job into selfemployment there are a lot of things that can hold you back in one of them that i've noticed seems to be benefits so today's show is for you if you've thought about doing a parttime side gig or maybe going into business for yourself fulltime or maybe you're already doing it but you just don't have all the benefits that you need to feel secure and i think that enjoying the entrepreneur or lifestyle is a huge reason why many of us want to work for ourselves but the downside to all that freedom that you get is you just don't have a cushy benefits.
