Bumble Goes Public & Bans Body-Shamers

"Past year between the presidential election social unrest caused by racism and discrimination. A lot of companies have had the chance to come forward and make their missions and values known. But there's one company that's been forthright about their stand on social issues from the beginning and it may surprise you but that's the dating app. Bumble unlike other dating apps bumble allows only female identifying users and heterosexual matches to make the first move or send the first message as it were the app which launched in two thousand fourteen seeks to empower women. Looking for love and make up of the company itself is full of women in power its founders female and seventy percent of its board members are women that's basically unheard of in the corporate world. Bumble hasn't been shy about taking a stand before in two thousand eighteen in the wake of the deadly school shooting in parkland florida the band users from sharing images of guns or other weapons at the time. Ceo and founder. Whitney wolf told time magazine quote we will always put our values above our bottom line unquote well. The company recently had a chance to once again. Put that promise into practice. In late january bumble told it's now forty two million monthly users that it was explicitly banning any form of body shaming on the app in a statement they defined body shaming as quote forcing. Your opinion of a good body onto others unquote. They said they would prohibit users from sending messages critiquing. Someone's body or sharing that a certain body type was unacceptable or undesirable in their user bios and they explicitly said language that could be deemed fat. Phobic ablest racist colorist. Homophobic transphobic had no place in their app and algorithm will flag such language bumble will give rule breakers a warning and repeat incidents can cause a user to be banned from the app entirely anyone who feels like they're the victim body shaming meanwhile. Ken report a user through the app. The move came just a few weeks before bumble went public which made ceo and founder heard the youngest female founder to take a us company public and the youngest self made female billionaire bumble sold fifty million shares in its initial offering reports. Cnbc heard is no stranger to dating apps she cofounded competitor tender and twenty twelve. She left tender two years later and soon after filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company the parties eventually reached a settlement tender has community guidelines that discourage users from harassing and mistreating other users and relies on its estimated fifty million users to report violations of these rules last year the company began using a new machine learning to the help flag offensive messages according to wired but it's diverged from bumble and other ways following fumbles move to ban images of guns attender spokesperson told mashal that quote. We're not banning guns. We don't have a blanket ban of guns unquote tenders owned by match group which also owns dating apps hinge match and okay Prior to going public bumble said it acknowledges its competition but that online dating is not a quote winner takes all market reported. Cnbc that's because the company said most people have an average of two different dating apps on their phones and with this move bumble is hoping that if you were tired of body shaming and other offensive comments that can play the online dating world. How to Fill a Few Seats At The Cinema? Rent Them to Gamers

"March in the early throes of the coronavirus pandemic. We brought you a story about how a devastated movie theater industry found a glimmer of hope by turning to that old american classic the drive in movie theater that hope was short. Lived though as many drive ins were forced to close because of stay at home orders in some cities and cold weather and others. But now there's another small light at the end of the tunnel for an industry. That's been gutted by the pandemic this time. The story starts in south korea with movie theaters around the country closed or operating at a limited capacity and film releases largely on hold due to covid south korea's largest cinema chain. Cg v had a bright idea. the company started renting out. It's largely empty theaters to folks who might enjoy the use of a big screen and surround sound. You know video gamers gamers. Pay up to a hundred and thirty five. Us dollars to rent out a theater. Video games consoles and controllers not included and renters. Told the bbc that gaming in theaters pretty cool the sound quality is top notch and the graphics are almost lifelike turns out a. Us theater chain was already on the gaming in the theater trend after a gutting year for the cinema industry most us movie theaters shut down in march early on in the covid. Nineteen pandemic and while some chains opted to carefully reopen some locations. Last summer those were shuttered again. In the fall when cases spite put simply putting up two hundred people in a room while they sit on coke munch on popcorn at the screen. Well you know. It's just not safe so malka theaters which operates thirty-six cinemas in the southern. Us rolled out. Its malko select gaming at several locations. Last november up to twenty gamers can book a theater for one hundred and fifty dollars in play until they drop or until three hours is up. Whichever comes first. i'm thinking it might be. The latter malko also allows customers to book private film screenings for up to twenty people and sells food and beverage packages alongside the reynolds malkhaz twenty twenty revenue down ninety percent from twenty nineteen thanks to the covid nineteen pandemic and while renting out theaters to gamers film. Buffs is one way to avoid closing down completely. It's not making the chain much money. Karen melton malkhaz vice president and director of marketing told the bbc quote. It's gaining traction and becoming popular but nothing is adding to our profitability at this point on quote and that's the harsh reality for many theater chains. Amc theaters has spent much of the pandemic on the edge of bankruptcy after revenue fell ninety one percent. The chain managed to raise over nine hundred million in new equity and debt capital rap reported. The injection allows the chain defend off bankruptcy for now. Amc started renting private theatres last fall at around ninety nine dollars a pop for screenings though not for gaming although for an extra hundred bucks you can score a microphone to welcome your guests. Meanwhile screen rental from rival cinemark costs around one hundred dollars another chain. Alamo draft house offers private screening starting at three hundred dollars which includes tickets and food when you think of the average pre virus movie screening with around two hundred customers paying an average of a little over nine dollars for a ticket. That's eighteen hundred dollars that the theater brings end before even popping a single popcorn kernel at the often pricey concession stand private screenings and video game parties just can't cut into all that red still on the horizon for cinemas is. Well what is that. Hope as a million americans received the covid nineteen vaccination each day some theater chains are cautiously reopening at diminished capacity. Of course most amc theater locations are open in accordance with state and local guidelines and malka reopened several theaters in late january and earlier. This month of course strict guidelines are in place for one you can say goodbye to endless soda and popcorn refills and in theater service but still after the year that the cinema industry has had anything is better than nothing. Even if at anything involves a little. Mario kart

South African COVID-19 variant identified in Seattle's King County

"In South African variant found Monday in a positive test in King County from late January. That person could be reached by a contact tracers could not be reached. So There's no way to know how much if any of the strain might have been spread. County health officer Dr Jeff Duchin says the current dropped in case counts is cause for guarded optimism. But we must remember vulnerable to a potentially severe fourth wave, given the large number of susceptible people that remain in our population, the presence of these variants of concern that are expected to increase and the easing of restrictions on activity, presenting more opportunities for the spread of covert 19. State health officials also tell US number of known cases. Of the UK variant has nearly doubled the 39 so there's concern because that one spreads more quickly and because vaccines might be less effective against the South African strain. "Upfront funding to extend Ella's leases for project room key through the summer. The program started last March as state and county officials looked to find short term shelters. For homeless residents over 65 or with serious health conditions, hoping to keep them safe from the coronavirus. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, had reimbursed 75% of those costs under the Trump administration. But in late January, President Biden issued an executive order toe fully reimburse the cost of these hotel rooms. Cars had, he says the city will now begin filling 300 empty rooms today. GameStop Reddit-rally sends Wall Street tumbling to its worst week in months

"In late January, a handful of unlikely Wall Street stocks began to skyrocket in value. It has led to big market volatility, and that will be the subject of a special meeting tomorrow with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and other government regulators. As Paul Solman reports, the spike in these stocks was driven. By an unconventional group of traders who banded together on a buying spree determined to take on the market for their own reasons. It is the latest in our economic Syriza's making sense. The frenzy. Obviously, this thesis is based largely on the fundamentals, Internet chatters hyping and buying stock and seemingly more a bun companies and you're right. It doesn't make any sense at all. AMC Bed, bath and beyond, and the bubble Gamestop crazy, and we're not as dominant as everyone thinks we are. We know what we're looking for. Is the regular Joes versus Wall ST Joe's using the free app Robin Hood to buy Gamestop, a money losing brick and mortar monger of video game disks that seems obsolete now that games are bought and downloaded online. And yet the stock skyrocketed last month, we're going to try to explain what's been happening with Alex Seamus from the University of Chicago Business School and my grandson show violas 17. So Alex set the scene for us What's been going on? There's people on this platform called Reddit, who decided to buy up a lot off the stock a lot of shares, partly because people hedge funds on Wall Street started short selling it. Okay, before we get into that, Joe, So I remember taking you to game stop when you were younger to buy you video games as kind of nostalgic appeal. Absolutely. And I think a lot of people my age in a little bit older grew up with Gamestop and I'm seeing a lot of people on platforms such as red It were saying isn't bye Bye Bye and Gamestop Two reasons one to make money, and the other was to stick it to the rich elite of the hedge funds. Hedge funds that have been betting against retro games stop by shorting its stock that is Now. In keeping with the retro theme, Alex suggested a retro product to visualize short selling. So here I've got an iPod, which I scrounged from somewhere in my basement, right, so on iPods kind of late game stop, it was very popular in the two thousands. And, you know it's not a bit obsolete because you know everybody's got music on their cell phones. So how do you short sell an iPod? So let's say I'm a hedge fund, and I think that the iPod is worth less than what it's being currently sold for. I go to you, Paul and I say, Can I borrow your iPod? So what I do is I sell the iPod that I just borrowed from you. And then buy it back for the future price. So if the price goes down, I make money because I'm basically getting the difference between that You just want me to lend it to you. I'm gonna borrow your your iPod. And I promise I'm gonna give you a little bit extra money whenever I return it. And to promise contractually to return my iPod by a certain date or whenever I ask for it back, So now you get wind of this short selling Joe. And what do you do? Okay. I grew up with this product. It's got a certain nostalgic value. I'm going to tell lots of my friends on social media may be read it to go out and buy iPod so we can all get in on the trend. What happens to you The hedge fund, Alex so because I Embedding that the price as actually going to go down in the future. If it ends up going up. I end up losing money because I have to buy it for Maura than what I sold it for initially and as you buy it, you're driving up the price even higher. Exactly, And that's what happened with game stop. $18 a share just last month. My grandson bought one share last Wednesday. And what price $293 I want to point out that I did not advise on this trade. I'm thinking that as more people are saying on social media that they're going to buy the value is going to go extremely high. Well is that I want to continue to stick it to the man, these people in Wall Street who have been running everything. And sure enough out on the street. I think it's great that rich people are losing money because capitalism is destroying this world. I look at the whole game stop with stocks is a revenge of the nerds. Kind of attack. This is one of the most complex attempts to coordinate on a single strategy that I think we've ever seen a sort of people's hedge fund says he must coordinating on the Reddit Forum. Wall Street bets. Urging one another to buy with rocket ship Emoji is which is to say, Look, this asset is going to keep going up so everybody should buy and toe hold with diamond hands. We are not going to break. We are going to keep the price up, and there's even a buy and hold sea shanty with diamond hands. They knew they profit if they could only hold But hold on most Wall Street. Hedge funds aren't short sellers. They bet on stock's going up. And in this case, some hedge funds have actually profited hugely from the so called revenge of the nerds, as have Robin Hood's paying customers, big investors, many of them hedge funds, who, by information from Robin Hood, about what people there are trading As for short sellers, are they bad actors? Sure, they bet against a parent losers like Gamestop, but also against frauds like the infamous end Ron, which short sellers helped take down nearly 20 years ago. By exposing its phony

"Only have to do it once. Yeah, it's all location, Location location, I think for the far north suburbs, northwest suburbs into the west suburbs and southwest suburbs, For the most part, you know, inch or less if top So I think you know you're safe to give it a go if you want to shovel but anywhere across Southern Lake County Cook County into eastern Will county to the east of Joliet in the northwest Indiana. You know we're not done yet, so you might want to hold off. But on the other hand The real heavy wet? No. And so they sometimes referred to his heart attack snow so you might want to do it it shift just to lessen the burden on your body because It is, you know, it's great for snowball. Great for snowmen and so forth, Right, but not good for shoveling. Yeah, well and good for snow blowers A supposed to Yeah, me out there with travel that that will definitely be the way of the world. Now. You are also saying earlier and I just wanna give everybody heads up on this. A part of a polar vortex might drop on us this week. Yeah, it's not the whole polar vortex itself, but a chunk looks like it's gonna break off. Sometime next weekend into early next week, and that would deliver Chicago some of the coldest temperatures of the season. Actually, by far in a way, we're getting some sub zero numbers at night. Off our rock computer model guidance, um, the timing of the cold snap. It would last about 36 to 48 hours one models, bringing it down the cold air down on Saturday. Another one on Monday. So we don't have the exact timing yet, but it looks like yeah little chunk of the polar vortex is headed south toward the U. S. I still have a week to go with this, but we're getting some pretty solid data that we may dealing with some very cold there as we head into next weekend and beyond, were like in the worst of it right now. Write them in this. End of January early February. I know that there have been exceptions and you know the you know, Tax day storms and you know we've had odd storms, but generally January February are about the worst so Hopefully weaken, you know, sneak out of the next month or so with Eyes. A little harsh weather is possible. Get this late January early February period really seems to be the wheelhouse for polar vortexes and and big snow storms over the last 10 to 15 years for us here in Chicago. Three of our top five snowstorms have occurred this week. In January 26th through February 3rd and and yes, seems like Climatologically. If we're gonna have some really nasty winter weather. This seems to be the you know that well out toward the last week in January 1st weekend, February Looks like this year is gonna be the same story Got storm today. There could be a storm ahead of that, Uh, cold blast next weekend, too. So somethingto watch there so next weekend. At this point looks like it's going to be a very active one. COVID's Impact On Chinese Fine Wine Consumers

"I'm going to be talking about the impacts on china's why market on how those impacts affected consumers buying behaviors. First of all this year. The buzzword hearing is locked down on but in china and we talk about lockdown. It's in the strictest sense one household household can only allow one person to go out once a day to purchase all the necessities unlike in europe. Or in the us where you have the luxury to go out and to do a lot of chores. In china it's really strict on areas. That are most affected by the pandemic. You're not even allowed to go all. There's a community officer who is on standby just to send all the necessities to you to your door. So this is the contact where talking about when we want to understand kovic impact on china this is also the circumstance under which a lot of the business have to operate for three months from late january to april. So this is something i want to want. Everyone who's listening in to bear in mind to keep it in the back of head on back of a mind to understand the corvettes impact. So i upon. I'm going to talk about cova impact on china's wine imports. So what happened to win. By the end of january china had locked down the whole country as a result restaurants hotels essentially closed and miss the most important chinese new year sales for anyone wondering how big and how important is chinese new year for a lot of wind merge and a lot of the a lot of them who i talked to told me chinese new year wine sales account for roughly twenty percent or even up to thirty percents of their i knew sales so imagine seven day period was lots okay and then imagine. That period was attended for three months. That's the challenge facing a lot of the importers in china and of course logistics were delayed because quickly the pandemic spread from china to the rest of the world Even when china in may and june recovered from the pandemic countries are like ryan's italy and you were in the depth of the pandemic dot affected global logistics while because we have the latest figures from china customs at a showed import volume declined by thirty percent. Thirty point eight percent to three hundred forty seven million leaders in poor value declined roughly thirty percent as well to u. s. one point eight four billion. This is quite significant. Because i want to joe attention to the fact that last year china's one import value already declined. We saw roughly ten percent job in volume terms and one percent in value terms because of the economic slowdown and trade war between china and was so the downturn. We are saying this year is a continuation of what happened last year as well. So that's you know might have a projection for what is to expect on what's to calm right okay. So next one. I am going to talk about because of the job in wine. Imports and how it affected merchants consumers and the price points are was sane on the shelves merchants of course when you have stalks that are meant to be depleted for chinese new year. That a stew setting in the warehouse. What you do when you have uncertainties facing forward you'll become a more cautious your becoming more cautious with your spending what to buy how to budget. That's natural response. A market exit suddenly. We're seeing a lot of merchants exiting the market. Unfortunately one of the examples with sane is from jovial. Many of you guys familiar with jovial so basically joe view is a wine and agricultural importing company backed by the tech giant nenova. Five years ago when it entered the market to stop two important should be winds. It costs a lot of fanfare and naturally they had the peak around twenty key bruns. Included a the biggest Organic winery madonna in in chile. And also jong here moe's fabulous wines earlier this year due to the pandemic it's general manager said they're suspending the wine business. This is not a small one time importer. we're looking at a company. Dots actually has the scale. That's the direct impact of the pandemic. I'm coffee cards. Of course a lot of wineries and importers were having zero sales in february in particular consumers when you have job uncertainty because of the pandemic what are you gonna do. You're becoming more cautious with. You're spending your accounting or the non essential standings unfortunate wine is counted as numb- essential on like you know maybe in france or italy or in the us consumers of course they're trading down if they are buying winds at all. They are really budgeting what to buy. You know what is the best value. What is the most affordable wine outing the market this can be reaffirmed by the expert on expert data we just from burgundy from january to september export volume to china shop to by roughly thirty percent and in value terms jumped by roughly around twenty percent and we see some increases in areas where Or shop elise. Those kind of increases assertion guan crew premier cru in terms of red and whites that Racing price-wise wines priced under one. Hundred orrin be is the most popular category one hundred. That's about fifteen dollars. So what happened to on trade and why on trade matters like any other. Why importers in in the war in europe or in the us traditional ones heavily dependent on trade on restaurants and bars and hotels to win. The pandemic happened especially in china. Were the strictness of the lockdown is so severe on so carefully scrutinized at enforced restaurants bars were treated during the pandemic on china. We're talking about country that has ten million restaurants chinese new year. Like i said completely shot during the seven day. National holiday dining sector alone lost five hundred billion. That's seventy six billion. Us dollars lockdown. Measure of various strictness were enforced from end of january to april lasting three months. Even in some cases restaurants were allowed to open. Are you can only do delivery service delivery service it go to. It's a growth factor at a hall make makeup for what's lost from in dining services and heidi loud. That's another biggest restaurant chain. China lost to five billion to stirring saint periods just to give you an idea of the severity of on-trade unfortunately among all the alcoholic beverage categories. Wine was hit the hottest. This is not said by me. This is actually coming from one zooming secretary general of china alcoholic drinks association which is the official drinks association in china. That's regulate Anything related to alcohol in china. It's very powerful organ and he basically said homecoming function for wine was essentially non existent as heavily relies on social consumptions such as restaurants to the decline with shoppers. A wong stall too short before giving any thinkers on the decline. But we can guess it's melted doubled. It's not a single digit

"Michael Morale. We're back to intelligence matters. Today We are doing something a bit different. CBS News Intelligence and National Security reporter and the producer of Intelligence matters. Olivia Gazza's Is interviewing both me and Admiral Bill McRaven on the operation that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. McCraven. Let's bring you in and fast forward to late January 2011 because at that point, having been presented with the intelligence as it existed, the president asked for some concepts of operation and that the military be brought into the fold. You were told in the have said in the past that there were leaves on bin Layden whereabouts before did this particular intelligence stand out? You know, we have a lot of leads on bin Laden. You know, some of them, you know fairly Tangential. But part of the responsibility of my command must work with the agency and those that had leads toe kind of track these down. I remember at one point in time somebody had reported that bin Laden was up in the Hindu Kush in northern Afghanistan at 14,200. Ft s. Oh, sure enough, we send a helicopter to 14,200 ft. Track down who we thought might be been lot marching through the snow to say wasn't there, But every time one of those leads came up, we would do the best we could, you know, kind of follow the end of lead. Having said that when I first got notified about this was actually in December of 2010, the chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff. Have Mike Mullen came out Tio visit us in Afghanistan, which he did quite frequently, and after he talked all the folks in my headquarters Today. But let's let's go upstairs and talk. So we went up to my office. And he said, Look, they think they have a lead on bin Laden. And they may call youto come back and take a look at the intelligence they've got. And I'll be honest with you. I was a little dismissive on Ly because we had seen a lot of leads before and again. I didn't have any of the intelligence. It was just double Mullen telling me that the agency had had a lead. A couple weeks later, I get a call from General Ross Cartwright, the vice chairman of Joint chiefs, and I went back. And that's actually when I met up with Michael and he laid out to me in his office kind of the intelligence that they were looking at, and they didn't give me in all honesty. A complete look behind the curtain was really it was all I hear is the compound at a bottle bod. And if your special operations forces have to take down that compound, how would you do it? I said, it's a compound. It's what we do. Every night we were doing about 20 to 25 missions night in Iraq, and we were doing about 10 to 12 missions a night in Afghanistan and your average mission in Afghanistan was you take five or six heavy lift helicopters Image 47, the twin waited Special operations. Helicopters put a whole bunch of seals and rangers or army special operations and rangers. You fly about an hour you'd landed an offset location. You'd foot patrol for about 10 to 15 kilometers, so the enemy couldn't hear you Come in. It's around the compound. You put a blocking positions around the snipers would get up on the wall and then you lock it down. You know, actually actually would come out with a bullhorn. So you come out with your hands up. That rarely happened. But if it did, you know, we get the guy And if not, things tended to get a little sporty. We'll get the guy. We put him on the helicopter. We're taking back. That was a profile that the force was running again about 10 to 12 times a night in Afghanistan. So when Michael showed me the about Abad compound course it was this large kind of trap His Lordship compound with kind of the big three storey building the middle, a couple of outbuildings. I said, Well, you know, it's a compound. We know how to be a little bigger than what we're used to. And clearly as Michael kind of tease me with the intelligence. It was at that point in time I had to admit it was it was pretty compelling. I went after we have the discussion. I actually went back to Afghanistan and then came back very soon thereafter and then howto had a discussion and they really kind of opened up all the books to me, and I had a chance to look at all the intel at that point in time again. I thought the intelligence was Was very compelling. And then we had our first meeting with the president. And and that was again. I have come back late January early February to your point, right? And then there came a point where a decision needed to be made whether to leave the operation in the CIA's hands or in list. Special operations you've written about how you made a concerted effort not to make it seem like you guys. Did do this every night and may have had better ideas on how to approach it. Then the CIA. Why was that important? And Michael after Admiral answers the question. What does knowhow that was received within the agency? Was there a side of relief was their resentment. Tell us a little bit about how those discussions So yes, when we were brought in, Andi was me and I actually had a Navy captain who was in D. C was kind of helping coordinate aside, bounced back and forth between Washington in Afghanistan, but but very early on. I mean, this wasn't about. You know, the joint Special Operations Command. This wasn't about the military. This was about doing what was right for the country. And if the best chance of getting.

"You're listening to Russia's Week in review and Hello, everybody. It's great to be back. It is just a thrill and a delight to be back here behind the Golden B. I b microphone. I really appreciate your your patients and you're hanging in there supporting our guest host on Hermann last Thursday and Friday, Mark Stein, all the rest of the guys, I I just I really do appreciate it, but it is all going to be back. Here is the telephone number. If you want to be on the program, it's 100 Way to 2882 and the email addresses Rushmore. Wendy Ivy net US. Okay, time for an update on my condition, my circumstances, my my treatment. I told you all from the very beginning that I did not want to be a cancer patient here on the radio. Now those of you who have been through this or have had family members go through it. You know that It takes over your life if you let it You know that It has deep seated psychological impacts on everybody in your family, including the person who has come down with it, and it takes a yeoman's effort to get past all that it takes. A lot of a lot of effort to try to live. What used to be and what you try to make a a normal life again. But there's always that cloud hanging out over there. So rather than talk about blood draws and all of the medical specifics. What I thought it would do was use a sports analogy. And since I used to work for the Kansas City Royals understand baseball baseball is probably the best sport to you is To analogize where I am to date in my treatment for what is for those of you who don't know there's new people listening in tuning in each and every day advance stage lung cancer, which was diagnosed back in January. On the 20th. So leaving on my time at the Kansas City Royals. I thought the best way to Teo update you and to inform you would be with baseball analogy and it was in late January that we learned Of the diagnosis. That means we learned of a really tough opponent. So it was time to go up to bat. Times walked to the plate bat in hand. And that is exactly what happened and my 1st 2 at bats. My first to advance struck out Nothing to show for it. The first to attempt To deal with the cancer failed. One was a targeted therapy of clinical trial drugs, which Work but nearly killed me in the process. And so we had to get off of those, but it did you know that that at bat showed me I could hit pitch. I wasn't going to strike out. I was at least able to make contact we had we had some some hope that there would be a remedy. Seconded bat. After we had to get off. The first of the second at bat was a total and complete failure. I struck out on three pitches did not even make contact. So I'm now up in the bottom of the ninth. I'm over to I have not reached first base. I didn't coax a walkout of anybody. I didn't get a hit much less of double or a triple. But in my third bat 1/3 attempt I managed to get on base. I have a solid single. And then stole second. I am currently on second base. Hoping to slide into third and eventually make it all the way home. We're in the bottom of the ninth. If I get all the way home, we get extra innings. And that's what we're shooting for here. We're shooting another reason why I chose baseball, football and basketball. Have a clock in the end. Baseball doesn't Baseball goes as long as the game is tied. Right now. I am tied. I need around the bases. And score. I need, However it happens. I need either steal third. I need to steal home guy Hitting behind me needs to come up with something, but that's what we're shooting for. Here is extra innings and we want as many of them. As we can get. Now don't be alarmed by my direct mention of the first Two at bats being total failures. One of them was that they were both total failures, but one of them held promise. The current treatment regimen and folks, it's really tough because I know that you have you've known people or you've. You've heard other people that are in media who are going through this illness or any other kind of builders. They're so eager to share with your good news that they do. And sometimes they get premature sharing the good news and it isn't long enough to come all we've lost ground or its come back or what have you And so I am and vowed to be Very garden with the with the good news because we're talking about cancer. There are good days. Good week, their bad days and bad weeks. This past period I was past treatment, which was a week ago tomorrow. This has been much better than I thought I was expecting because of the cumulative effect of the toxicity I was expecting to be, you know, in in in that Just debilitating fatigue for 10 days, and I wasn't it lasted two days. Thursday and Friday. The weekend was good, but again, anything can change. Rapidly and and on a dime. So it's a blessing. I believe prayer works. I know it does. It is. It is a blessing that in my third at bath, the last shot that I haven't.

"Eddie said he Taylor was alone driving thing at Toyota down the highway. I believe behind him behind me here. We got I look in my review guys. I swear Taylor Swift was behind me in a car. What kind of Car Ford Ford Fusion? Asian maybe maybe something a sedan or she driving. Yes no one hurt. That's the Toyota Sedan. I mean come on well I guess why would I say Ford. Unless it's maybe similar labels taking him take back right does a symbol Ford literally says well. Would you like to enter the rear view. Humira a lot of steps fuzzy backwards a lot of different things. Blue Yeah so that's the word Bobby. Can you take it back. Take it back take back. I take back my Dick. I never wanted to get it. I know you know admitting when I'm wrong outwardly internally gals wrong about that Dang I should do better next time how can I improve symptoms. I think stuff and don't say Mitch's in general in life so Eddie Alba's wrong wrong wrong uh-huh that could've sworn it was a Toyota. That's crazy that I said those words back Len Ford Fusion less in Florida. You're on the bobby bones. Show at Lisa. How are you okay? I am here for addy because I was just in Nashville well. It was a wasn't Josh. You're always there for her butterfly year old and she popped in just randomly and and we happen to be in the Gulch and she was leaving in a great Toyota. I have photos on my phone with her mom and her dad got. She was right next to me and got into into her Toyota with her driver. Okay well we know. She's into Toyota Documentary Toyota. So yes we're not doubting alone or genre Asian. Okay thank you so do nothing. They gave me this platform. I could've sworn audio right now. I hear that mind hunter. That third season is not coming back and I really liked that guy. Did you see that. Yeah it's unlike an indefinite hiatus. Now I guess the directors offers or producers and the actors couldn't be on the same schedule because the producers working on a different show and so they basically had to see everybody from the payroll all until they could be on the same schedule but as far as they know that's never going to happen again but show is really good on that Flex Kevin started. It's called mind hunter. And it is a real story about a detective trying to figure out serial killers and they kind of get into a second season they they focus on one but all that's happening while the btk killer and Wichitas like starting earning his deal real good. I was looking for three. You know what stinks about bingeing. Because now I'm starting to get off the benching and like every week episodes coming out more because I watch a show. What did you think about that? I I mean I just I just can't I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he had so much potential. I realize what an amazing football player he was and then obviously playing for the Patriots and has all that and just signed a forty million dollar deal and then he would be out like shooting people and then play a whole season and it's just crazy crazy. What he was able to get away with for a while but then that he would do that when he had so much like I get sometimes you do that desperate times? Or that's the like you remember. He had an out not didn't have to be a part of that life. It stinks about the Patriots. Why put them right back at home where he all that trouble was? They were saying John by Seattle or Oakland. Taking them away from that. I understand that now yes. That's true. Gone because he could have been away from the from the kids. He grew up with that. Were trouble for him. Hey Taylor paid money you have to go to the rich people things like each other. Right I guy figured there's probably some issues there I didn't know I was thinking because of Scoot abroad maybe. Oh yeah that's the thing you know. It's funny I told Ryan seacrest Oya. Ah The gym. So I'm GonNa you would think Ryan would see cross was so famous et that he would like block out places. Toyota's two and stars driving but if wheat unknown she was filming a documentary. I would believe you then. Okay because you think Roddy and her documentary. She's trying to look relatable. I get that going to get a Toyota but you are right and we were wrong that when Eddie Saul hers the same day as filming. Why didn't see a camera? That's well it'd have to be a crew. You can have one one person with the camera. Add by herself in her Toyota when I saw her. Okay I'm sorry. Did you just take the win. Where did that come from because the king of debt jokes is is addity but my dad? But it's not just being a dad she goes. You just be sitting somewhere. I'll even it's not even funny joke. I didn't even mean into as you like just comes out of you like what does that mean so a dad joke doesn't have to be from a dad. Know just an unprompted a joke that is somewhat corny nature. Yes like like. They're trying to be funny or they're trying to be sarcastic and they're just trying a little too hard and most of the time it is stabbed doesn't does it mean but most of the time it is and Eddie just really fits the description really. Doc Not in the microwave but we have a gas stove so I taught her how to do it and I've been working with her on it but I guess I didn't really feel my my husband and on that because maybe it's times where he wasn't home but I was like this is how you turn it on and make sure that the gas is all the way off because you don't want it leaking and I guess she felt comfortable with it and she was home alone for about thirty minutes the other day in between my husband's like ships passing and then he walks in the door and she's at the stove top off like whipping up dinner for everybody. Nice doing her thing and he calls me and he said guess what I just caught doing and I'm like great. What like I'm thinking? What did she do? He's like cooking and I was like awesome. I love that and he was like what he didn't know that you had todd or had at a gas does it's not about it at all. He's like I said No. I've been working with her on it. I think that's great. She loves she loves responsibility. She thrives off of that so to be able to like go to the fridge and put the stuff on the stove and maybe even feed her and Stevenson like that is good for her some people not but for her. That's good so he he's. He's he's anti it and we're we. We had a fight on on the phone and I was like I really don't have. I can't believe we're talking about this right now and I was annoyed because I I said you didn't yell at her or she's not in trouble right because she didn't do anything wrong because I've been working a had told her it was okay and he was like and he said no I said hey you know I'm proud out of you for trying but let's somebody has to be home if you want to cook on the gas stove and then in my my a bad parent because I think it's okay for her to cook on the gas stove without apparent or an adult so I don't know because as a kid we had a gas stove and I was for sure cooking myself stuff on it as a kid so i. I don't know what the rules are. I think the rule is just generally do feel like she's emotionally responsible enough to do it. Regardless of our age nine. I was cooking at home. I don't even ready to cook for me sometimes. Those I was learning how to cook at nine. I just think it's if you think she is regardless of the number that she is I if something were to go wrong which she be able to fix it or or God forbid have to call the right person if it went really wrong. Yeah I think it's mostly it's like when you have kids to drive a car. I mean that is so scary but it's when there are sixteen. Do you feel like they can go and drive a car and be emotionally responsible and make decisions that need to make things do go wrong when they go right no problem but it's when they go wrong wrong. That's where the training comes in. It's like your husband is a pilot like anybody can fly a plane if they trained enough but I want somebody that can fly a plane when things go wrong so I think that's the point. Do you feel like if something went wrong in the stove. Caught on fire or something like that that she'd be able to fix it or stop it or at. Please call nine one one or not. Let the house burn down. Hopefully it doesn't get to that point right. Yeah Yeah Yeah I think she I want yes I do field and so I think we're just GONNA have to. It's still an argument. We're trying to figure it out because I think she should be allowed. There's time she wants to cook. I also think you just let her do it while you were there a the more you do something the more you get comfortable. Maybe that's what he needs to just be more comfortable because I'm the one that's watched.

"Join me as well and my co host. Kara price as we will you through the true revolution immobility ability that will change the way we interact with the world around us. Join US and here just how close we are getting to a more connected future. This time tomorrow is. He's now available on the iheartradio APP. Or wherever you listen to podcasts. The bobby bones post show pre show. Your dancing style. Style is as unique as your fingerprint study finds that you do have a unique dance style. Yeah we what does that mean. What is my dancing style? Unique Half nerd half soul good. It is Kinda like a nerdy soul combo like a fusion. I would say but then you got professional professional training. Did they tell you anything dancing with the stars. Like hey bobby. You're like this kind of dancing. They were like you and I will to myself elves dance. I was looking at my trophy last night. I don't spend a lot of time. It's just been sitting there for a while but it's been a little time last night. Appreciating it the further. I get from it to crazier. It is one that show because when you're ended just life and you're like I've won. Go you got to go. You don't stop go or you stop when you don't get the goal but the further I'm separated from one. I went on a reality show on one a reality show regardless of what it is right but then I think to go on a show. I had no idea what he's doing and do but I was actually having lunch yesterday two days ago with one of the heads of ABC and we were talking about that and now he was shocked to and he's over all those shows and he was like you know you Kinda came out of nowhere we we didn't we didn't win but then once it started His note was the first show when I fell down and then I ran into the stands he was like. Oh all we were like well. This is going to be something. We don't know what it's going to be but it's GonNa be the the thing or it's GonNa Quick. You had separated yourself at that point. I knew I had to. I was the least known person on that show. I thought I was anyway but anyway according to a research team regardless of the type of music the vast majority of people maintain a uniform uniqueness to their dancing style. Your mind's a nerdy soul Combo or Noel. Like all if a no an. Yeah no Combo by the way Morgan number two you went to Kansas state right. Yeah I did. Did you see that. You're Kansas guys. Fighting the Kansas guys on basketball. I did and it was pretty. It was pretty bad. Look for just Kansas all around. Yeah Yeah because you're Kansas Person. It would definitely was not Kansas best moment in general state right right it was just all mad as a state and not the not the best moment a three year old became the youngest member of Mensa. which is the largest and oldest high Q.? Society in the world so crazy easy a three year old boy living in the UK has become the youngest member to join Mensa his name is Mohammed H nods. He was invited to join after scoring one. Forty two on the Stanford Stanford Banana Iq test which put him. In the ninety. Nine point seven percentile. I wonder what test they give a three year old. And here's the thing about an Iq test definitely. It's not the end all because an I q is basically your potential like if you do the work you can get up to this point. It doesn't mean you're super successful or smart. I mean I have friends that did not score well on the IQ tests at all. That are way smart way successful But this is like your ceiling. He is this now. It's up to you to go and reach it. Is that makes sense. Yeah helps explain a little more because you could think. Oh my gosh. Wow that three year olds is does that mean. They're answering questions that this person who appeared. No it's like at their level and what their potential is. Yes the cops in Washington having trouble finding a guy who appears to be living in the Celia. My Grocery Store Auburn police are searching for a man. They believe a squatting in the stealing of a grocery store and stealing food and alcohol after hours wasn't even if he's not living being there and he's just in there to grab food alcohol he found a way in. That's pretty funny. Yes money and they can't find him a man's accidental lottery purchase. Leads leads to a double win twice the payout. A Delaware Man who bought two identical powerball tickets for the same drawing had the mistake pay off when they both want them. Fifty thousand thousand dollars each crazy just to win But to win twice by with an accident yeah we were talking about doing reality shows back to that for a second on the about on the airplane back and you get to do any reality show what do you do. I always thought it'd be amazing race as long as I was with like I had like a really good partner which one okay. I'll ship the question. Which one do you think you'd be really good at how paphitis which would I be good at? I think I would be good at amazing race. I just couldn't be in charge of directions. Well that's the biggest part of a major. My partner was I would be a good team player. I it would be fun but like good. I can't dance. I can't sing saying I've no sensitive either. You're acting like that is what one me the show you know. What other reality shows are that you play? I mean big brother other no people on that are crazy. Well we were talking Eddie right yeah. We're talking about survivor. Yeah I know because I've been done on both physical and mental part of it. I would love. That'd be fun. The physical bar. Maybe I could start to do but the mental part would kill me and you having to do like politics is like yeah. Everyone would think they weren't alliance on the everyone on the show where they weren't a secret alliance with me and they really don't know then at the end I'd be like screw you all uh-huh everybody's charity that they're happy again. I just got him all twisted always. Yeah I just I said years would be survivor. Know Eddie just talking about would be good at it until I was about thirty three. It'd be there have been the bachelor. Oh Yeah but then once I started to kind of have my own career. Sure where I didn't want that to kind of be toxic toward it. That became something more and more because they did talk to me about doing that show and I was like I already Kinda have my thing. I don't WanNa be known as the bachelor you know. Yeah no I agree and so up until recently but if I could go on any show like a reality audie show that you're GONNA win. If I'm going to bet on me to win a problem I don't even watch survivor. I haven't since like seasons one or two. I do even bet on your survivor done like Bob. He's lying. He wins for sure. It's crazy. How much 'cause when Andy Roddick bet on dancing handsome of stars he wants so much money? He wants so much money because he went. You have no idea what you're doing noida how to dance but I just believe in you figuring it it out and I was like you're crazy. I wouldn't do that. He bet so much money. Yeah and it didn't take a lot of money to make a lot of money because you weren't your odds to win. Were very good one. I mean I was saying you know this has been a while I thought about this but was it a real like it was a legit betting thing you bet online you get outer. Oh my goodness ray wants his. They're all the same to me all these guys game now. I'm going to start you want me to you. You Ain't up under you get one hundred bucks you'll get a hundred you get a part of what if you only put ten bucks. And he doesn't hundred correct. I get something something. "Tall it's six thirty five on a Saturday morning at ninety five point five WSP sixty five degrees outside this is not a good thing actually why because sixty five in January that means we got you some serious global warming going on war the atmosphere is very unstable I learned this Kurt Mellish and when you have unstable atmosphere you have tornadoes and storms and rain and also is unpredictable things I remember you're you're coming up on your twenty six year anniversary in four days of the show so I remember when we did your twentieth and I try to plan all these on air collars and surprises for you in whatever six years ago and we had to keep interrupting your show with him Bryant during a news because of tornado warnings man so that was six years ago this exact time so yeah you're right totally unstable I remember coming back to Atlanta from South Africa New Zealand one of the other and this city was completely shut down from snow in late January of nine eight years ago a man I crazy January while cradle so let's talk about that real quick though go ahead with with the temperature is it faking a lot of plants out to maybe into some blooms are new growth and then if we have a frost in three or four weeks what's going to happen yeah hydrangeas as well everybody's worried about because hydrangeas of mind but Sir or at least an inch long of my hydrangeas and yeah if those bugs get frozen those top two very sorry but it's on a stand on other ones a set of books the land the trees it like the blues this coming summer and so if they get frozen we won't have any balloons so if you have a hydrangea and you see the temperatures are going down if we go into the freezing your hydrangeas these we covered all the way to the ground all size was the sheets placid but press is better cover boxes where you guys if you wanna potatoes special hydrangeas they make sure is covered with the temperatures are going down because those little buds popped out all Greenham good kinda let's go to Barbara who still goes to waiting very patiently for us hi barb good morning how can we help our one can I spray weed killer on the way and taste you grant do you have weeds now or or like are you right now I have some Lee in the best cute.

"She said she blasted Metallica to successfully scare the animal away that's weird because playing metallic on a hike is usually how a track it seemed like it was gonna be an okay joke but then it wasn't soul I'm gonna do to uber eats for donuts no no free donuts in here a lot of their out there all right when you're not allowed to talk about it when I turn that quickly yeah not much doing so great I'm down about eight pounds I understand I would hate to look good I'm taking off my shirt I'm going to have a mouth full of donuts out there I'm gonna come in here and I'm gonna brief with my mouth yeah well to get punched I would have hated it if I was being disciplined somebody brought donuts in here yeah but my my life is back to complete chaos and just the idea of India any left over will power for anything else is darker I'm sorry I'm going to uber eats doughnuts from ever been done I don't know I'm gonna find out here to look at I or at least you know doesn't right I had to about probably get that I don't know get fifty I should drop I should get a hundred dollars for the door how many is I don't know it's a lifetime supplies online if you go with your can a stripped down basic a get you back and forth don't know or your fancy Donna my plan is with extra features my plan is to eat until I'm sick which is which is interesting on the thirteen year anniversary of me quitting drinking I'm gonna eat donuts I think may be of Marshall have you're continually calling it the gambler might have an opinion to share sold new poll out we're gonna talk to true about what's what's wrong with young men in America because there there are problems there is your problem with young people of things IT depression suicide all kinds of stuff but the the mail thing is that we're gonna take a particular look at that yeah for you on the way a little bit a new poll out there's some arguing going on apparently the Democratic Party whether or not that it's fair that they're constricting the the the size of the the pool of people running for president with their rules for the next round of debate is it fair you have to have at least two percent national polls and a bunch of people are not going to make it oh my gosh that reminding it's in the think that's a bad some people think that's terrible no we need to be expanding the number of voices we have not contracting right right right on that theme John crazy that link I emailed to you get grab that and just somebody have that ready to play we've got to play that not now but you have it right okay so the blouse yield mayor of New York is technically at zero percent the latest national poll he's technically a D. B. and zero percent will not get you into the next debate well there would be eight billion people in the debate zero percent gap in it's a pretty good point yeah candidates have until August twenty eighth to both received contributions from at least a hundred and thirty thousand unique donors and cracked two percent and at least four major polls and that that's gonna weed some people out the stricter requirements will separate the contenders from the pretenders arm and trying to get down they think they're gonna get down somewhere around ten this is a quippy act poll which is well respected poll former vice president Joe Biden still but this is you know recently taken see got all the debates factored in Joe Biden still front runner at thirty two percent when you go down to Elizabeth Warren at twenty one and Bernie at fourteen is that number updated handsome on the the schedule of their four hundred and fifty four days till the election now thanks not till the primary war will certainly not cactuses yeah the caucuses are are in late January the caucuses are in Russia which is still you know what six months away practically as worthy of the Marx Brothers but the fact that Joe Biden still is doubled up practically on the rest of the field that the hold was with worn a burning thing is interesting to me because they're the same Canada is so much as well so if if Bernie would get out and recognize you know I've I need to pass the torch people of adopted my ideas I won I won I'm out supporters go to Elizabeth Warren should they would they would be able to compete with Joe Biden is there's a jab in John case sick of the democratic side then you drop down to calmly Heris at seven percent still going backwards yeah a man I probably should sell my stock in her it's predicted that we'll give you an even better reason for that in a second all she's a lunging I'm taking a bath bono and she adds the state is it five Cory Booker in bed or both and right at two percent from the cost beginning out everybody else is below two percent in this poll so they could be gone bye bye so we really could be constricting one of the interesting numbers to me though is the whole black vote where that is since they've been paying attention to this sort of thing in ninety two nobody has gotten the nomination without winning the black vote in the Democratic Party Biden still has half of the black vote half is somebody else have have no or drops way down sixty percent for Sanders eight percent for Warren and listen to this this is why com liars has zero chance yeah Kamel Harris is kind of at least partially run in on the whole I'm black thing right as she attacked biting the busing all answers that she gets one percent of the black folk wow how interesting Biden gets half she gets one percent I'm looking at it predicted dot org which I've got some money invested in you're predicting the for the the fates of of politicians and issues and that sort of thing it's kind of fun it said testing my predictive powers and as far as they are not impressing even me but Kamelot is down seven cents today which is only it's thirty percent her stocky buy stock in these cannot rises it's one percent of the black vote yeah that's amazing I I I'm not black black people tell me is she arm is she seems a phony or what what's going on around the cop that their income all as a cop gotcha gotcha okay her her hold arresting people for smoking marijuana and then chuckling about it when she's asked about it on a project I've taken we yeah when I was listening to rap music you know you jail people for this right after a day of it is is that's where a lot of that comes from yeah percent she's got no chance because you can't win the nomination without so another number one hit you with Quinnipiac broke this down and I thought it was interesting they broke down the the liberal crowd verses the moderate conservative dams it's almost exactly a fifty fifty split you got your moderate conservatives versus your liberal and progressive Biden has got all the moderate conservative crowd okay half of that into them the other half is basically split between Elizabeth Warren and and Bernie so that's how it breaks down it's it's a pretty pretty even divide our is Cory Booker the Joe Biden of the twenty first century Joe Biden who famously seem like a great candidate ran a couple of times back in the eighties and nineties was and got like one two percent Cory Booker stock is worth less than half of Andrew gangs so goodbye mon comparable white people explaining to me or me explaining why black people feel a certain way but Weiss Cory Booker not even show up among black voters the scene is a phony here I don't know I don't know why I don't dare make a pronouncement I haven't seen a similar thing like with cut like Tamala there's things that I see like the Kamal is a cop kind of narrative I've seen that all over the place I haven't seen any sort of unifying thing of why that would explain a Cory Booker's numbers and then rights you know among among middle class people I DO ice gosh you got to be so careful these days and it wears me out but I mean I don't spend a lot of time with the angry young activist urban black crowd you don't now I will tell you this though among most reasonable people you're looking Cory Booker and you see a big phony is just phony his words just Clank they don't ring true I don't care what the what the you know is racial background is served or or whatever is just one of those guys you listen to and think will invite was Brock's vice president that's enough and he comes off as a sincere elderly person yeah I think that's pretty well said Joe Biden Z. isn't is definitely elderly yeah speaking of the year's going by got this email from once see only going to use the name a lace frequent frequent correspondent okay as what is the appropriate punishment for a spouse who forgets the birthday of his bride of twenty years three years in a row especially when this one is a big one ending in zero not asking for a friend cool cool wow Hauser relationship I mean is it a and well be really good you have to ask I don't know some do some people are like I got you know holds in there the waiter yeah yeah but that's that's that's something I mean is that on purpose or is a horror you know all all
