But gender segregation and Islamic dress code will be mandatory. The higher Education Minister Abdul Baqi Haqqani, laid out the new policies that are new conference yesterday. Several days after Afghanistan's new rulers formed an all male government. "There's a whole lot in this package, well, progressive Democrats who want both of them together, however, we're seeing this fracturing that's happening with the Democratic Party. So far, Senator Joe Manchin said yesterday that he wants to strategic pause. He says. It's not necessary. Right now. There's no emergency for the deadline to happen this week for them to rush back from recess and do all of this. He wants them to take time to debate what's in this bill and bring the price tag down considerably before making any moves on this. On the other hand, you have the progressive Democrats who don't want to hear about the strategic pause. Senator Bernie Sanders responded yesterday, saying that you know there's a real danger here that if they can't pass the reconciliation package to go along with the infrastructure bipartisan bill that was passed earlier that the bill could fit could feel like the whole thing could all stale. So there's a showdown happening on Capitol Hill right now, and neither side is Giving up Plicating in alright, faith. We appreciate your reporting. Thanks so much, and we will talk again soon. "Nothing. Mortgage bankers are at this number. 855 on radio. That's 8550 n r a D. I O. And now it's time to talk about trends. Schacknow. He says that people love trends. You and I. We love outer banks. We love Animal Kingdom. We were, Of course, we were watching the Jordan documentary when that was all the all the rage. Speaking of trends you love the Jordans. But what about trends in the mortgage industry as we're heading into fall of 2021? What are you seeing? What is the crowd interested in doing also like power album? Definitely getting into Vikings. Right now. I'm almost done with the first season loving the cocaine cowboys. I still remember watching SportsCenter and seeing Sal upon the screen. And having no clue what he was doing other than racing that fast boat never could have dreamed what was going on behind the scenes, But I like trends in the mortgage business. This is what a lot of people say is what kind of motivate motivated them the call. Now I can tell you one thing. I'm really into the real estate flips right now I'm really into Airbnb s, you know, finding really low price houses, buying and fixing them up and reselling them to working great for me, especially closest, um, Amazon Centers of Stone Teresa Bill before the show. But real estate right now is probably the number one thing people cashing out from the primary residence. Not really the investment, not really the second home. They're all using the primary residents to get the rock bottom reads their purchasing flips or houses that they want to do an Airbnb. There's a lot of P m e elimination. That's huge. Right now. People are sick and tired of it. House values are soaring. You guys, I don't care if you put 5% down six months ago, call us back. Let us try to get rid of this P m I with or without the equity position. If you have over 700 credit scores and PM me it's a no brainer. That's one of the easier calls. People are getting rid of personal loans, like one main financial lending club. Net credit, They're sick and tired of those 12% and 30% rates. With all the hurricane and disasters across the country, the new home generators, Bowman Cash out instead of doing a home equity line of credit is booming. People don't care about saving 123% off the rate that fallacy expired like late 19 nineties early two thousands, the new saying is, if the savings outweighs the cost and the effort. It's goodbye. You should say yes, Another thing is, people are switching out the adjustables in the fixed rate mortgages and rates are going down. People cashing out the maximum. They can, regardless of that number, and then still spending the same amount on their mortgage. That way. The same is coming. Out of their pocket. The only difference they weigh a little more pockets are fat pockets are full. They got a lot of cash on hand. People are always eliminating credit card debts, car notes, student loans collections, Um, and then we're in an age G t V world, you guys. Everybody is a professional home designer nowadays. So what you guys are doing is down 855 on radio. You're asking for cash out. You found out a set number that you have your heart set on I can tell you constantly. It's going to be higher with contractors these days in the price of goods and How long everything's taken. It's going to be higher than you think. So cash out slightly extra. A lot of people finding out that they could pay less per month, but then upgrade the property to make it look like that. H g T V show they've always wanted, so that means a lot And then and then, at the end of day, people just happy they're pumped on the month off the mortgage. The Esseker refund. They're already purchasing stuff for the holidays that are coming. I live here close to L. A with new Sulfide stadium. We're getting a lot in the L. A market that is already pulling cash out. For Dodger tickets for the playoffs. They think they're going to win this thing. They also think that the Rams are going to have a good season. A lot of season ticket holders across the country. People are getting into the sports again now that you're back in the building, so I love those phone calls. You guys are speaking my language. If I was on the phone with you, we will be talking for days on how we're going to utilize that where you're sitting..

"Name is Dr Michael Ramage, and he leads a team of architects at Cambridge University. I went to meet him and he's somewhat cramped workshop of a basement corridor. It's not just the sound filling this room. It smells well, The aroma of sac and sawdust and resins love it. So there you are. You've got a block of wood on there. What's so important about that? Yeah. I've just been cutting some cross laminated timber or CLT, which is basically very large play wood glued up, and it's used as a structural construction material. For Buildings large and small. The fundamental importance of this piece of wood is it's the first new structural material we've had in probably 100 years of construction since reinforced concrete and what's his relevance to climate change? As trees grow, they Suck carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. They store the carbon in the trees, and they give the oxygen back to us to breathe. So, Tom, tell me a bit more about this cross laminated timber. Pieces of wood glued together sounds terribly simple. It is and often the best ideas are this one comes from the sawmills of Austria. In the late 19 nineties, they started gluing together thick layers of sawn timber. At right angles. So the grain runs 90 degrees to the layer beneath its like chunky plywood in effect, and they realized they could make great big slabs to build walls or floors with not only are they cheap to make, they're also really good at trapping heat inside buildings, and they can be made off sites are loads of advantages. Choose your woods and glues more carefully, and you can create amazingly strong beams and pillars. Architects are now designing buildings using cross laminated timber, which are more than 20 stories high. So you're telling me that when you glue pieces of wood together to make a cross laminated timber, it's really stronger than they still beams well, cross laminated timber can be engineered according to its and use of broad and Steph for walls or floors. I've even seen a lift shaft made of it, or particularly strong for beams and pillars, and Michael's got a hydraulic press to test the strength of materials. Wooden surprisingly strong, he says, strong Can you prove it to me? I can tell you How strong it can be. Really? Yeah. We're up to a metric. Come there. Yep. And whilst I can feel it's complaining. It's by no means broken, is it? No. Yeah, well to 1.5 metric tons, So right now we've got the weight of a car pressing on an area the size of a 50 p.

I was reading last week and I can't find the Article now, of course, But then a lot of people are reassessing as you've talked about their jobs, because a lot of, uh, owners are now concerned about filling some of these jobs, But they're looking for new gigs that kind of thing, but one of the other things they're looking for. And you do address this in your latest blog post that I've seen is that millennials Are looking for more flexibility, and they want to be part of an organization that considers new approaches to getting worked on and achieving goals, which is all good. Are they going to be able to find these kinds of jobs owned a few months they have left to kind of refocus. Right now, with the government plans that they're living on now, so to speak. We're going to find out because right now there is something going on in the labour market that we've never seen. And first of all, we have not seen the power shift from the employers to the employees. We haven't seen workers have this much power since the late 19 nineties. That's number one. Number two. You're absolutely right. It is a very curious part of the pandemic that it seems to be accelerating a lot of trends that were already in place, and we knew that millennials, which are by the way, it's the largest portion of the workforce now that they wanted something slightly different from their work experience. And I think what we're seeing is that that's really gone. Almost done Steroids. They not only want to have a hybrid work environment, but they also want an organization that has an approach to working. That is a little bit more inclusive that it tries to take into account what their workers they're younger workers especially are looking for And I think that as you said wisely that you know, I don't know whether they're going to find that. But there are more and more companies that are offering it. It's going to be really interesting to see in certain sectors how it shakes out. You know, for example, in banking and finance, a lot of large banking CEOs have come out and said You know, tough luck, youngster coming to work or we're going to move your job to a cheaper area and I'm I'm anxious to see whether the younger people are going to rebel or not. It's going to be they say they will, but they haven't yet. We're seeing the market adjusting. Also, obviously with service workers specifically, bar restaurant owners are are saying that and, of course, um part of that is wage development going up, But there's there's some other things that are kind of interesting to me, and that is and a lot of people have. It's a quandary. What do you do with the 16 year old who can finally get their first job? In what way should that be? Because if you get a $15 minimum wage and face this young people who can't even count change. That doesn't that doesn't seem like that. That I should pay That kid. $15. You know, we are an hour. Excuse me if I own the restaurant. Well, listen, I guess we're going to find out because if they they're going to learn very quickly had account change. I promise you, but if you can't find workers, you're just going to hire anyone. You're going to cast your net wider. And economists really believe that, actually, that casting a wider net is really a good thing. In other words, think about all the jobs that you and I have heard about, even just think about like what we do for a living, right? We talk for a living right? And the question is, Do you need a college degree to be a news anchor? I mean, I guess you do, and it would be helpful. But there are a lot of jobs where you say you don't necessarily need a college degree. We're asking a lot of people to go to four years of school. Kill themselves, get a bunch of debt come out for a job That probably is more suited to someone who doesn't necessarily need a degree but needs on the job training or some sort of certificate. So is it okay that the labor market is really trying to shift and find other people that can do jobs? I think it's a good thing. Hey, you know, the the largest number of people that quit during the risk In just massive numbers. It makes sense. People over the age of 60. Why did they quit? They were at risk, right? I'm over 60. So I'm at risk for the virus. But the ones that were over 60 without a high school degree who had jobs like Hey, I worked in Walmart as a greeter. I worked in a pharmacy. I did this like they kind of had, like nice. Late in life gigs. They all said. I'm not doing that job like I'm scared. I got to go home and I'm going to retire, so I don't know whether it those people are not coming back into the labor force, and those jobs have to be fulfilled. And you know if I'm a college graduate, and I say, Do I really want that job or should I try to get a job where I don't have to do that? And you have more options. And so the trickles down in a way that you say, Well, maybe an 18 year old working at your local pharmacy stocking shelves. Doesn't need a college degree. And so that's what's happening in the labour markets, like those mini ships and stories are playing out over and over and over again. Appreciate your time. Thanks, Jill. Just last.

"Is intelligence matters with former acting director of the CIA. Michael Morale. We're back with more intelligence matters. I'm Michael Moral. Our guest is my Elaina's career CIA analyst and manager of analysts. One of our nation's leading experts on foreign weapons developments and proliferation. So Maya that's just a great story. I love that story. Just a few more questions in the time that we have here. Where were you? During this timeframe right from the late 19 nineties to 2000 and eight What were you doing? What was your role in all this? So I was in the wind Pack front office during much of the period when this story was unfolding Remind our listeners that wind Pax stood for weapons Intelligence, Don Proliferation and arms control center. I was selected as the deputy director of Wind pack in late 2003. Immediately after leading the internal Iraq WMD review and I was in that role when we honed in on the particular region of Syria when we found the Enigma building when we obtained and analyzed the handheld photos I became director of Wind pack in October of 7 2001 month after the reactor was destroyed. And I was in the director role during the Syrian cover up and the administration's public rollout of the story and how many just to give people a sense. How many different analysts from across the intelligence community, do you? Estimate worked on this issue over the Timeframe we've talked about. This was extremely tightly held Director Hayden personally approved who could have access to the handheld photos? Well, I don't know the precise number of icy analysts who worked on the issue. My recollection is that there was a small core group probably no more than 10 analysts across the entire icy Who worked on the issue from the beginning. Now the number grew over time as unique expertise their capabilities needed to be tapped and to ensure that we considered all alternatives. The alternative analysis needed to be conducted by different analysts, analysts who could provide a fresh perspective and we're not invested in the existed in in the existing analytical line. And as the public rollout approach we had to bring in help to make the video. So maybe this is a bit of a hard question, Maya. But what was typical about this issue the analysis on it, and what was What was a typical I would say that it is fairly typical for an analytic effort to begin based on a single intelligence report highlighting some interesting activity. And that initial report Then leads analysts to look at past reporting through a different lens. Thereby potentially finding some additional relevant reporting. And that initial report leads analysts to generate collection requirements for all types of collectors to gather additional intelligence related to the activity going forward. What was atypical about the analysis on this topic was that CIA was asked to make a video documenting our analysis that would be shared with the press and the American public. Most of CIA's analytic work is and remains classified. So this video that we made and I remember it like it was yesterday, people can actually our listeners can actually find it online. Where can they find it? And I guess more broadly, Y did the administration decide. And make a public video. So the unclassified video the CIA made can be found on YouTube. It's been broken into two parts, so just search on YouTube, Syria nuclear reactor Part one and part two, and they've abbreviated part to Petey. As for why we made it, we were tasked by the White House with producing the video. Ah video that could be made public. Um As to why a video was twos, and this was a relatively complex topic. And the Iraq WMD failure was still fresh in the minds of many of the presentation, laying out the story of the Syrian covert nuclear reactor, Alka Bar needed to be easily understood and very compelling. So it was decided that the video would be the best approach. As the saying goes off pictures worth 1000 words and we had great pictures. Sure did. This is intelligence matters and Michael morale we have with us today. My Elaine is talking about the intelligence community's discovery in 2007 of a covert nuclear reactor in the Syrian desert. My only a few minutes left here and before we finish up love to ask you a couple of more questions about your career at CIA and start by asking you what advice You would give to new intelligence officers as they start their career and and they think about how they can, you know, do do their best of the job and be successful.

"Know, in the Breederscup Classic, he came from non links behind and in the blue grass. He was on the lead. He can do it just about anyway and and I think he I mean, he's been my pick the whole time. Haven't gotten off of him because I've been on him since before the Breederscup juvenile and I'm just not going to do it. I don't I don't think he's gonna win this race easy. I love highly motivated. Really like rock your world. There's a couple other ones that I think have a chance. But I think in central quad, I'm not going to not pick essential quality after I've been on him since you know since last October. But you just made mandolin sound like he was these. He's looked better than anybody else. He just doesn't have the stomach to do it. He has. But you have that last race there, Terry, that you have to disregard the past performance. And I mean, he does. He looks a zwelling. Anybody out here? It looks better than anybody out here. It's still there's that sixth place finish. Doug O'Neill's hot Rod Charlie is also popular. Very popular and kind of the bus horse or a little bit of a buzz horse. On the backside because you know, a bigger horse when he comes out in the mornings, you know, he is a big physical looking horse. Um I like him. I just don't know He's gonna have to win it being on the front end. I think, Rock your world. It has a better chance of doing that than he does. Jim Boeheim. I know, he said. He only has a couple of tail feathers or tail hairs or whatever, he said the other day, But that group Hidden stash this horse, there's gonna be a lot of local money on that, is it not? Yeah, just Yeah. He doesn't have a whole lot of chance. I don't think but but it is a mean they got a horse that Um, you know, that earned his way here and they, you know, if you get the gate everybody has a chance. We learned that with mine that bird it just It just happens to be fluky, sometimes. A job. A home was actually is actually here today was down in the paddock earlier and I think he is. Got the Hidden Stashes is up against it Didn't stash is up against it Just because just this year hasn't looked like he is competitive with these other horses. Victoria Oliver's the trainer. She's the daughter of former Churchill chairman G. Watts Humphrey, her first Derby, man. Would that be a glass ceiling to get through? Wow would be Only she isn't she'll be only the 18th female trainer toe ever Saddle a horse in the Kentucky Derby and Shelly Riley remember with casual lives way back in the late 19 nineties. Kosovo's president resigns to face war crimes charges

"Cost of a president Hashim Thaci has resigned from office announcing a special court at The Hague was indicting him for war crimes. Mr Thatcher told a news conference he was stepping down so that he wouldn't face trial while serving as president. He said his resignation would protect the integrity of Kosovo and called on people to remain calm. Kosovo specialist Chambers has yet to respond to.
