Can Bitcoin Avoid the Partisan Curse?
"Today on Long Reads Sunday slash Saturday, where I want to start is with some further analysis around Ron DeSantis's announcement that he was a running for president and B in so doing was hoping to protect Bitcoin. Because this isn't a political show, I didn't get into the politics of DeSantis in America, although they are, of course, very complex. Plenty of people have pointed out that his focus on the freedom that Bitcoin creates is perhaps inconsistent with some of his other positions. But holding aside specific policies, there's also questions of what his embrace of Bitcoin suggests about how it fits into the larger partisan framework. CoinDesk's Daniel Kuhn wrote a piece this week called DeSantis and the Growing Culture War Around Bitcoin. Daniel writes, This week, CoinDesk published one of the most thought provoking and balanced articles on Bitcoin mining I've ever read. The report is focused around the Greenwich Bitcoin Mining Company in upstate New York, which was at the center of a protracted media cycle last year after environmental activists claimed the facility was boiling the waterways and poisoning delicate ecosystems. Those claims went on to influence an actual policy decision by Governor Kathy Hochul restricting Bitcoin mining in the state. The thing is, most of the worst claims about Greenwich were straight up wrong. CoinDesk's Nick D, Doreen Wang, and Cheyenne Ligon took a trip to Dresden in upstate New York to take the temperature of the lake and speak to locals, finding that not a single lawmaker visited the Rust Belt town or spoke to its mayor before drafting what is essentially a freeze on new Bitcoin miners. Most of the Bitcoin mining debate today has centered around the Bitcoin network's environmental impact. Greenwich became a lightning rod because before the company moved equipment into the plant that now uses natural gas, it was deactivated, meaning that when the miners were turned on, they weren't just drawing on electricity that would have been produced anyway, but actively releasing quote unquote fresh carbon into the atmosphere. The Bitcoin network uses as much energy as a country like Norway, and trying to wrap your head around whether that is or isn't worth it often comes down to your point of view on how you value permissionless money. Individuals can certainly make up their minds on the matter, but how a state should treat Bitcoin, for instance, whether mining should be encouraged or banned, is a societal level conversation involving politicians, stakeholders, and those affected.

Biden: Debt deal 'very close' even as two sides far apart on work requirements for food aid

It appears as though work requirements for federal food aid recipients have emerged as a final sticking point as president Joe Biden says he thinks a deal is very close. Ledger's Shocking Move: Has Our Trust Been Betrayed?
"Every Saturday, I ask what the week before will be remembered for when it comes to crypto and the larger economy. And to me, there are two big things that stand out this week. The first is, of course, ledger. For those of you who haven't listened to the ledger episode from earlier this week, the TLDR is that on Tuesday they announced a feature called ledger recover. Now ledger recover was a way for people who were maybe new to the space or who are just generally insecure about keeping their own seed phrase on a piece of paper, which is how ledger normally does things. This new feature ledger recover would allow them to effectively have a backup. And the way that it would work is that the ledger device would send out a copy of the seed phrase split into three parts. It would go to ledger and two other companies, and the person would have to use ID verification services to request to have it come back. Now you might already have spotted some of the issues here. All of a sudden, a hardware wallet which is supposed to be a self sovereign device and totally outside of the realm of tamper ability, has introduced a whole slew of new weaknesses. There's a KYC and identity verification process, there's these three companies that are involved, but the biggest thing that had people upset was that in the past, ledger had made it seem like there was no way for the device to ever send out a seed phrase, however that seemed to be changing. Because of the device could copy that seed phrase and then encrypt it to send it out in these three parts, didn't that break the relationship that people thought they had with their ledgers? Now, over the next couple of days, ledger really dug itself into a deeper and deeper hole. At one point, it's team tweeted technically speaking it is and has always been possible to write firmware that facilitates key extraction. You've always trusted ledger not to deploy such firmware, whether you knew it or not. It's important to understand that at the end of the day, any hardware wallet solution to user chooses to go with will always require that person to trust the developer to build and maintain a secure device to store your assets. This was exactly the wrong thing to say. And just further outrage the community.

Can you imagine pitching that to the networks and the early sixties or how that went over? Unreal. Great show the great character development. Great characters. I'm Dave Sirio. It's Saturday morning, and that means you ought to know. Let's go to the phones and talk to some folks. Bill is in Monkton. Good morning to you, Mr Bill. Good morning, Dave. Thanks for taking my call. I listen all the time. I really appreciate your work. Well, thank you, sir. Appreciate listening to thank you so much. So of it, General question about his tired sure about a new truck and took the tires off the 1000. Miles goes. I wanted to touring tire instead of the highway. Tired, okay? I got these tires and, uh, you know, uh, I spoke to a couple of people that sell used tires. One guy wasn't interested in five. Other guys is basically, people don't really care how good they are. They just don't want to spend one in $50. I'm not two point Yeah, He's got a valid point. Yep. And so I'll put it on Craigslist and I've got to tell you. I have my concerns last Saturday night. Email from a guy who said I want to come to you, but not oclock after work on Saturday, and I said, Yeah, you know, Not too bad. He's pressuring me and then I never heard from him again. Well, that's that's the definition of Craig's list. He probably wouldn't have shown up for some reason. Yeah. Yep. Sell selling stuff at it from your home is a pain and you don't want people. A lot of these people come into your home. It's really tough. It really is. No, I mean, you know, throw the things the land That's right. Worry about who can show up, right? Yep, exactly. Adding suggestions on what to do with Tyler Miles. Well, I mean, you can. You can sell them to a dealer. Okay, There are some used tire dealers in the area. Everyone wants to While you'll find one that will. We'll buy them from me, but they're not going to give you much because they're going to make money on the other. The other thought process. If you deal with something like Craigslist, or if you deal with something like like Facebook marketplace is like that. Uh, since these tires are transformed transportable is that you want to meet somebody in a public place. Okay and and do it that way, instead of them coming to your home, and that's the way that I would do it when I was selling a car and I was on marketplace and I had a lot of people contacting me. That's what I did. I met them at public places with the car. Instead of, you know, having them come to my house, So that's that's the recommended situation is to let let someone know what you're doing. You know, a friend of yours saying, by the way, I'm going to this place here at this time to meet someone in case you don't come back or something happens. You know you want to have somebody knowledgeable what's going on? But I would take a public place and have somebody meet there. And if they buy the tires from you, they there you go. You give them to him. Take your money and go. Yeah. All right. All right. Okay. Well, thanks very much. Appreciate it. No problem at all. Bill. Good luck to you, sir. Thank you. Bye. Bye. Melvin is in Laurel. Good morning, Melvin. How are you? Good morning, sir. How are you? I'm doing great. Good to talk to you today, sir. Great. Um, Dave, I've got a 2012 Ford escape, Okay? And I replaced the belt Tension or poorly. Mhm mhm going to say about three or four months ago. Okay. I was hearing um A lot of noise in that area, right? Which sounds like the bearings were going bad. Uh huh. Almost sound like you know, when you come out and late And the evening when you hear a bunch of crickets. Yes, Yes. Uh so I determined that in that area, I replaced them. There and it stopped. Okay, well for stopped for about I'm going to say maybe two months. Did you replace the belt also? No, I didn't. Okay. I just replaced the polling. Uh huh. And the north Stop. Two months, Uh, lady in the north Begin again. And what happens is, is that When I come out in the morning, I'll stop the car. You hear the noise and then the North will cease after about two minutes. All right, and I never had that problem again that day. And it hasn't happened since. No, no, it has happened. I never had a problem. That resident I got you doing that day. Yeah, once I thought it up in the North will stop. The North was seized the entire day. The next day. When I come out, it will repeat yourself the same. All right? Well, you either have a problem with the part that was replaced. The tension of that was replaced as having a problem. Or it is the actual belt. And that has to be determined. You don't want to spray anything on the belt. Okay, That's the first thing of anything has been sprayed on the belt. From the previous diagnosis, meaning that when you first had the problem if anybody sprayed anything on the belt to find out if it was a belt or not, that could be some of the issue, too. So it's either the belt or you've got a part that's going bad. The brand new part that you put on two months ago. Is having a problem. Okay? And I did when I heard the noise, uh, spray on the belt, and I was trying to diagnose to see what areas that was giving me the problems like spray on it. Would it just spray on the belt? Um mm. Was CRC CRC or? Yeah, Mother Nature. First of all, Go ahead and replace the belt. Okay, That's you're going to need to do that, anyway. And let's see if that solves the problem. Yeah, you don't want to spray stuff on the belt. The older belts the V belts, yes, but the serpentine belts. They don't like that at all, And it could be slipping on a pulley making that noise, especially in the morning when it's drier. So that's what I would definitely do first is I would replace the belt and let's see if it takes care of it. If it doesn't take care of it. It could be the CRC, which is a fine quality product, but it just isn't meant for this application. Could have gone on to that poorly also and caused the problem. So let's let's do the belt first. And if it turns out the belt doesn't take care of it. It needed to be replaced anyway. Okay? Then then replace that the attention of the and take it. Send it back as warranty. Okay. All right, okay. Thank you, sir. Thank you very much. My pleasure, Melvin. Good luck to you, sir. Or have a blessing. You too. Alright. Double line. Rita is in Baltimore. Hi, Rita. How are you? Friday's.

I know we're only like you're gonna stop asking questions at a certain point but like sometimes the younger ones you're like i don't although myra pretty open about it but like yeah. That was a really excellent way to pass that. Buck though i know well. So here's the other thing that happened. Is that probably a parenting bail. As well and i knew it as it happened and then i was like an fuck it. They so dustin dustin you know has been thrown into this whole thing with these two children right and he dated. Say something to me kind of recently. He was like not could. I know it's me. I got to work on it. He was like but you know they talk about sex like a lot and they'll do it in front of me. I am so uncomfortable. And of course i get i was like oh. Yeah they were boys. Would you get uncomfortable. He was like yeah. Okay and i said well that is partly you. You gotta deal with it. But i'll i'll talk to them about trying to tone it down a bit and there and i said i'd rather than i'd rather them talked me. I'd rather them ask questions. I should probably better about answering the little one. would you like. I'd rather them ask questions. I i'm thinking to answer those questions. I was very for that question either time. She asked me. But i do want them to talk to me. Because i really do want to have a healthy discussion about it. And i knew i just wasn't prepared for the nine year old but most of the time i don't want the maximum about my sex life but like if they're talking to me about sex then i feel better in the sense that like at least they're learning and being harper s asked me if i've ever had sex with her dad i guess that's a conversation we should have so i talked about it and they were like yeah..

"To your shows after your last show started thinking about one of my questionable parenting decisions. There's so many for some background. I have two girls ages nine and soon to be four. I have worked last twenty seven years in early childhood education and i have seen many parents. He fails and successes through the years. I can parent the crap out of some little kids but my expertise stops at age five. I sometimes i feel like that to go get if when they were under five. This is much easier crayons. We could deal with a juice box right now. It's getting solve with box right band-aid okay. Now it's leftover testicles. Sorry i've never let it go. God that being said. I have no idea what the fuck i'm doing when it comes to the nine year. Old which good. Yeah she's gonna be but lost in the world of social isolation preteen hormones and being stuck with her crazy three year old sister and i on the daily for the past year so to the mishap. I have always tried to be straightforward with my kids. As i can. We did the period talk a couple of years ago and how babies are made but she never asked how they got there well. The question finally came In front of the meat counter at the grocery store she asks. I mean she was. You know. Talk about freudian anywhere right right in front of the salt. Yeah she asks so sweetly mom babies in woman's belly in the car so obviously she said we're gonna doug later in the car. I warned her that after she knew this information she could never unknow it. Sure she wants. She wanted me to go on. So i give her a very technical explanation. You know the woman has an egg. Man has the sperm. The penis fits in the vagina. And bam the baby is made. She was appalled. Maybe i should have given her a more loving explanation. I don't know. I'm just not a very touchy feely type person. That's what this whole. I read this and i was like this is celia millions. I personally ah. This was about four months ago at this time. She mentioned that occasionally and reminds me that she will never have kids because she will be never doing in quotes that things she wishes she didn't know about al also over the course of time. She's noticing things lyrics and songs about people being attracted to one another's bodies continuing with explaining things outright. I have explained to her. That when you get older people become attracted to each other sexually and enjoy looking at each other's bodies you don't ever. I.

"You are listening to ESPN radio brought to you by progressive, So Trae Young has a bone bruise on his ankle and was able to play in Game six after not playing the previous two games. He ended up stepping on a referee. That's what happened. I believe last Sunday in what injured his ankle last Saturday and injured his ankle. And he was not able to go for several games as the Hawks fell behind in the series, paving the way for the Bucks to make their way to the NBA Finals. JD for the first time since 1974 betraying insisted That he was going to have no regrets at the end of the series. He did not want to be thinking about this all summer long wondering what would happen if he didn't play. No, he was not 100% in Game six, but he decided to give it a go anyway. Here's what he had to say after the game about why he made that decision to play in Game six. I mean, all I wanted to prove coming into this season as I can win. I mean, I remember Sarah asked me that, uh, before the season started, not. I mean, I just remember telling her that I didn't care about no individual things, accolades. Anything else. I just cared about winning, and, uh I think, uh, hopefully people Have a different mindset when they look at me and that type of light So I understand what he was like What he's what his prerogative was. And I don't think you can blame someone like Trae Young. I mean, he didn't really get much help from any of his teammates last night when they needed him the most. I mean, they shot 41.3%. From the field and outside of a really good performance from camera dish. Um, the rest of the Hawks were six for 26 from three point range. That's not enough, and especially when someone like Trae Young because we were talking about this on ESPN radio earlier in the week that You could see this thing going to seven. If Trey is able to go lights out and just have a tremendous shooting performance in spite of how good the bucks could be inside the paint, which again they were, Um, but man, it's just tough to see because he is such a, you know, young, rising superstar who established himself as such in this series. And I'm sad that we don't get to see Trae Young in the finals. But you know nonetheless what an unbelievable performance from him throughout the entire postseason. And I'm really excited to see what this Hawks team can do next year and I don't fault him one bit for playing in that game. I mean, You can't have it both ways. You know, people expect their superstars to come out and perform. And he's the superstar that Atlanta Hawks team they are trying to stave off elimination. He felt like he could give it a go. He went out there didn't shoot well at all. But you know what you expect him to try to play in the game that matters the most the last game of their season. So I I have nothing but good things to say about Trae Young, where his career is going just the way that he has been emerging. Um, I think Atlanta you know, could be good for for many years. Quite frankly, they've got some decisions to make in the off season. But I mean, I think he makes that and it's more attractive place to play Courtney and that's what the NBA is all about. It's all about, you know, superstars getting other superstars. To play with them, and Trey Young is is phenomenal and I like what he said to You know about. It's not about my stats. It's about winning, proving he's a winner. And you know what? He is a winner because you had a little bit of that. I mean, there was a little bit of that perception that he was just such a big numbers guy. It was he Was He really like a guy that could be the star of a winning team. Sure, and I think he proved no question. He is a winning basketball player, and I think he proved a lot this postseason. I'm sad to see it and but I think for him the best is still yet to come, and stats were not great. In his return from injury, 14 points, his fewest in a postseason game. He's four for 17 from the field. Which is his worst second. We're shooting percentages postseason over six from three, his first postseason game where he did not make a basket from long distance, So I mean I look at this, though, And when you mentioned the free agent market in the free agent destination right now, typically Fourth of July weekend is when we start to see teams change in and rosters change because you have free agents going different places because of the landscape of the season in the schedule. That won't happen for at least another couple weeks. But I'm curious to see how Atlanta's roster changes now that they've established themselves as a place where you can come and play. And you can be with some really, really good talent. Trae Young. I don't know where you put him in your top 15 top 20 if he's even in there among your top NBA players, but he's established something there. The whole Atlanta Hawks team has. I mean, think about this, like they make a coaching change midway through the season, and this was a team. A lot of people pegged to be a first round exit once they get into The playoffs and and I think a lot of people wrote them off early. Trae Young was easily the most frustrating player for opposing defenses in the in the in the in the postseason. I mean, think about it took three rounds for someone. Mike Budenholzer and his staff to figure out how to stop this guy, and it really came down to one game, which was game to where it was an annihilation, where they were completely able to eliminate Trae Young. But beyond that, he still got his. And I think that that's why you know he's going to be such a big storyline going into this offseason and wondering who can you pair with him? JD. To try to make this thing go even further. I mean, they're one game away from making the finals and had it not been for an injury to him. That was just a freak thing. You can't blame it on, you know, load management, any of these other storylines and narratives that are out there like he stepped on a referee and he's a bone bruise on his right foot and sprained right ankle. You couldn't prevent that. But now, as you move forward like Atlanta was a year ahead of schedule, I'm really curious to see what they're able to do next year and how they can upgrade this roster even further to make it into the NBA Finals in 2022. I mean, the selling points are very easy. We've got Trae Young and oh, by the way. We went to the Eastern Conference finals and we were ahead of schedule. So I mean, I I get it that you know they haven't Atlanta historically, um, you know, hasn't been a championship caliber franchise. But again, you can say Hey, look at what we had. We had injuries, not just Trae young. Other guys were injured or out and look at how far we went. I think what is proven, is the star players..

"The last Saturday of June for us, and that comes with a lot of important announcements along the way. Number one. It's the final garden line appearance slash book signing of the season and for the season. I mean through June because we rarely do we do appearances and book signings End of June. Through September. Be one because I'm traveling a lot, too, because, uh, it's just not fun to go out in the heat and try to do you know, nurseries and book signings. And even though we're doing one today and an ace hardware store that can be a different Game altogether, but frankly, in July in the months of July and August, I'm not around much, so it's hard for me to kind of stay up with and agree to do these appearances and book signings. So with that said today is the last one. Until we start the home and garden show season back up very late August. So it's really a little over two months. You don't get a chance to let me be that pair of eyes. That's really what I love to do. You guys have taken total advantage of the last 34 weekends. We started the first one on June 5th. So you may not know where the closest one is, and that's good Now to write this down. It is a very good idea to write this address down. Website address. Ace hardware,.

"Answer but it if this next story is true. Does it make a difference. They say you need a vaccine carter. You don't need a vaccine card to get on a cruise ship because this latest one allegedly this. It's a celebrity ship right. Yup a you had to show proof of a vaccine. But they tested everybody. I guess as they were getting off the ship in two people tested positive. So did they lie about getting the vaccine is that you can still test positive but be a symptomatic because they said they had no symptoms whatsoever. Does this news affect the tampa case. Which again a judge is still deciding. You know what i usually say. Follow the money in this case. Follow the timing. Is it odd that this happened the day before the judge the day. The judge gets this case unlike. I think it's i think it's worth questioning. You may be right. But here's the deal to passengers. They say and a caribbean cruise. It's it's an honest liberty cruise. that's winding up today. They've tested positive for covid in the end of ship testing so they tested before and i don't know whether during his this like you said to get on and then when you're getting off it was this like one of those little test cruises. That's what i don't know. is this the. It's probably out of saint. Martin that say morton just left. It might have been celebrity. Millennium is the boat said last saturday. It's royal caribbean company. It's their offshoot. It's like the it's like the lexus toyota. Okay that's what celebrity is already first major cruise ship to allow american passengers since the pandemic shut down the industry. Royal caribbean said in a release. And this is all. They've said that the passengers who shared a state room. They were together. Okay or now. Isolated weather ships. Medical team monitors them completely symptomatic. To if you want to throw that in the mix. So no. But i. I also read that. They had a show proof of vaccination before they get on the ship right. So if that's the case did they lie and they had a fake vaccination card or were they vaccinated and they still tested positive. That's what they don't know that's that's the you know. Because it was the first one they had all kinds of media people on the ship including this. There's there's like crews experts. Oh so this guy was on there. Thankfully people had their shots manic they weren't the they're not in any discomfort and Thankfully they're not going to hospital or out on a ventilator Which which really shows the importance of the vaccine okay Yeah but they wanna hear from the passengers who i wanna hear from because they can say no. We got her shots. We're fine or if we don't lie did they did they. I would you do in the first one. i. I'm thinking the timing you're right. The timing is quite remarkable the same day. The judge is getting this case gay that but either way it it. How does that affect the judge because if these people really did get vaccinated and they still tested positive was that a false positive or can you still get covid. They say you can after you vaccinated. But you won't be hospitalized and you're not gonna die. Don't you think the bigger story would be if no one else other than the two on this ship..

How does that affect the business and and like the warranties and the things you can provide your customers? Well, I think that helps us with service. Um, you know if there are issues that there are concerned, having good relationships with the suppliers and the manufacturer rep. We get a lot of good insight from them. You get a lot of good insight from what's going on in the industry. What's going on with products? Um, you know, it's just It's just something that we always have tried The Foster. Uh, Theo, you know, just make the better experience for consumer with the best of the products and, uh, that's for the service. Okay, Um, when it comes to warranties, how does that work? Does it depend on the project? The windows the roof, deciding, Um, how do you figure that out for your clients? Well, I always tell people there's trumped up words in my industry in today's world, One is lifetime warranty. And you know when it comes to, uh, lifetime warranty. Hey can mean something very substantial. Or there could be a lot of writing below that basically diminishes what that means. And the other word is certified. There's some certifications that hold a lot of quote. And hold a lot of substance when it comes to products. Installation practices and what you need to be certified. And there's a lot of warranties that you know. I mean, very little or being a lot with J. F were master elite. Um, there is a 50 year, non prorated warranty that transferred one time. There's no smoke and mirrors with that whatsoever. The registered warranty and not only is it the warranty on the private roofing product itself, but it's a warranty with all the components that go along with it. And David, I'm sure you know that. You know you can get a good product. But if you get, you know, crummy, complimentary accessory products that this diminishes the life of what's there, right? Indirect. You want to speak a little bit to the window certifications and warranties that we have a JB Served with our two main lines. We carry paella and Marvin, which are the two really best known brands in the window business. We do offer pretty much everything else when you were pretty well connected as far as able to source products from other other suppliers. But the warranties in certifications, Um Tele does offer a limited lifetime warranty and other products today. Um they're the only would manufacture that. That really does that, Um, where take comprehensive warranty. And were all certified contractor, which means we've gone through the certification process with Tele. There's a handful in southeast Wisconsin. Uh, we mean, we always maintained in good standing that we have power support. They do a phenomenal job, making sure we're doing things right. And that the homeowners Gonna have that. That warranty you're going is there in the home? And with Marvin were one of two in southeast Wisconsin. A, um, credited remodeling contractor by Mervyn which again we've gone through training. For the installation process to make sure everything's done the way the manufacturers wanted to be done. Not the way the contractor wants to do it on day. That's a key to the success of any product. It's really the it's only As good as the installation. You can have a great product. And if it's not installed, right, you're gonna think Holy cow that I buy the wrong product on DATs. Where are accreditations? Really? Set us apart because we're doing it the way the manufacturers want it done. Not the way the installer thinks it should be done. Yeah, I've been doing this show for. So on Wednesday, I got up at 4 30 in the morning, our time knowing Trump was leaving the White House for the final time at 5 A.m. our time after the four years of absolute horror. Trump unleashed upon this country. I wouldn't miss that for anything, and I will never forgive Donald Trump for what he did to this country or those who sat back and neither did nothing or worse. Defended his complete indefensible nous. I will also never forgive Donald Trump for his final act of cowardice on Wednesday, and the way he fled and slivered on a Washington on his yellow belly before Joe Biden's inauguration. I waited four years to see him refused to leave the White House and have to be dragged out of there kicking and screaming and handcuffs and preferably chains. But like all bone spurred bullies, Trump is a coward and ended his so called presidency with a typical act of cowardice. And so now, after four years of holding our breaths, not to mention our noses, everybody along with me on the count of 3123. Mm hmm. And as you might imagine, I got lots to say about the inauguration of Biden on Wednesday, as well as the departure of the worst so called president in this nation's history. What are these strange anomalies? You earthlings call normalcy, decency and honesty. And how are we supposed to react to a president who actually wants to save lives and not cost them? I want to begin today by replaying something I said open last week show a couple things real quick. This is the most special Saturday of the past four years as it is the last Saturday, Donald Trump will spend in the White House. And just four more days, we will once again have decent people back in office. Further than what I just replayed from last week's show. I want to read you a tweet from this Wednesday, inauguration day after Joe Biden had been sworn in It came from the chief of police in Houston, Texas Art as a veto. Tweeted Quote on Thursday, September 12th 2000 and 19 Houston police officer was shot by a suspect shortly after the end of the DNC presidential debate at Texas Southern Three days later, Joe Biden called me to check in on our officer and stated the following quote. If you think it would be helpful to his spirit and recovery, I would like to visit him in the hospital, no media. I simply want to lift his spirits and quote. After checking with the officer and his family, Then Vice President Biden and I visited the officer in his family. The visit took place during a campaign yet not a peep of the visit went public. The officer. His family and hospital staff were all lifted by the visit. I share this today to illustrate the decency of the man whom we now call Mr President, although he prefers to be called Joe and quote Shortly after that chief asked a video posted that tweet again on Wednesday. The officer who was shot Taylor Rock, a Fort texted chief ASA veto to photos and asked his chief to share them, which he did. In another tweet, and there, the officer was in bed surrounded by his dad, his chief and then candidate, Joe Biden again that was back in September of 2019 long before the election and even months before covered. And we just learned about it four days ago on January, the 20th 2021 if that doesn't encapsulate the fundamental decency of the man who will, thankfully replace the inherently indecent and a moral Donald Trump. I don't know. What does And how refreshing it is to witness a genuine act of pure, selfless decency like this after a complete absence of decency for the four past long years. I mean, when Trump last went to a hospital to visit shooting victims in El Paso in August of 2019, he essentially abducted this two month old baby to make him and his blatant photo up. He thought Look better. Problem was the baby's parents have both been killed in the shooting. And he had Melania hold this orphan while he stood there with his stupid signature showbiz, the smile on his face giving a thumbs up. At the same time. Who commemorates a mass shooting with a broad smile and the thumbs up holding an orphaned wave. Answer a certified psychopath who was incapable of expressing normal human emotions because he doesn't have any including empathy. Hey, Your parents died a week ago. That's okay. You're only two months old. You didn't know you won't remember him so big thumbs up and smile for the camera, You little bastard. Sick, twisted, demented psychopath. And yet there are millions of people who are so brainwashed and stupid. They actually wanted four more years or even more of Norman Bates in the White House. Which begs the question. Has anyone actually checked the attic? In the White House? The past four years, There have been reports of a foul odor that's been wafting down from above. But everybody just assumed it was from Trump's bedroom. Sometimes. When she talks to me like that. I feel I'd like to go up there. Cursor.

"The first thing that i wanna say is while i'm not talking about resolutions. I don't want you to think that in any way shape or form in my san. Don't set goals for yourself for the year. Please set goals for yourself for the year says realistic goals and then says some big goals some big dream big goals right set them and set out to accomplish them but i feel like whenever people use the word where revolution that's because it revolution is on. It's all my tongue. You understand me whenever people talk about resolutions. It just seems like like. It's a firework gets real big and then it fizzles out. We don't wanna firework. We want a longstanding flame. We won a volcano. We want something that's going to last so instead of saying resolution. I just want to encourage everybody to set goals. Make goals and work toward the goals. And don't put too much of a time constraint on the goals just keep chipping away at it and be encouraged and just take your time. Another thing i want to say is that i don't want people to buy into the concept of like hustle culture or like obsessive productivity culture. Just just do your best. You know what. I mean kaz somedays. Your best is gonna look like you accomplish in a lot getting a lot done and then some days doing your best is gonna be you sitting on the couch watching period pieces all day. Which is basically what i did last saturday. And it's okay. It is okay to do absolutely nothing in. It is okay to do a whole lot as long as you are meeting deadlines that you need to meet for work as long as you are not letting yourself slip away into state depression as long as you are feeding your children and yourself and washing and

"Looks like two or something in his knee is he landed? You know, Myron, You hate that for the kid, But it's also an embarrassing way to get hurt. Unfortunately, Especially in social media. People are going to play that over and over again, but it is unfortunate it is unfortunate. Hopefully he'll be okay right now. The other bowl game old Miss Leeds, Indiana, 13 to 3 at halftime of the Outback Bowl. Jake Trotter is ESPN NFL reporter that covers the Browns, and he joins us on the Goodyear hotline. Your drink, Jake, that we We've talked a lot about the Browns over the last little bit and what's at stake, But you can tell us. Where are the Browns Right now. Going to the game. Who's out? The facility was closed for the third time in four days. How are they looking going into the Steelers game tomorrow? That's so huge. That's a great question. He really it will take me, probably 30 seconds. Theo. Rehash everything that happened this week, and they're going to be missing a legal genius. Literally just omitted the other team in an institute you without their offensive line coach bill to use you as an assistant to stop Peters. Who do you think you would have a three inch of assistance Sunday chattel Shade was already been rolled out to the game on Sunday, and that's just the coaching staff. Once we get to the players you're talking about in jail. Lord it was a pro bowler a couple years ago, a corner Andrus and Jae Ho. It's safety Harrison Bryant tight end You know they they are. They're gonna be down some guys against the team that's resting people. In the Steelers. So we're gonna see a lot of backups on the field Sunday. But in terms of the Browns, I mean, it has been an absolute oil wind last Seven days, going back the last Saturday when they were missing their entire receiving corps for that Jets loss. Jake obviously a unfortunate situation, but they might be playing a Pittsburgh team that doesn't have a lot to play for. My bigger question is what is this potentially mean if the Browns win and get into the playoffs if they end up having a Saturday playoff game next weekend? Probably means you're gonna be missing for guys on really. London Hearts is Jen's award. I mean, this is decent. Has been okay at times this year, but it has been powered by the stars. You know, Miles Garrett before he Contracted covert earlier this year, Wise in the running for NFL defensive player of the year and he was leading the league in sacks and forced fumbles. Then you know, then he went out with with Covad. Denzil Ward has been playing about as well as any other defender on the Browns on really look like the Pro Bowl or he was a zoo, a rookie 2018. And after those two guys, you know, they've been just trying toe put the damn basically with You know different combinations and that they had guys have some moments, but consistently it's 10, Miles Garrett Atkins awarded vials himself is still trying to get back to 100%. From Kobe, he said a couple of weeks ago after that Giants game on Sunday night, he had a coughing fit in the locker room, like just having a hard time catching his breath. And then you lose Denzel Ward, and if it's the Saturday game, it's hard to see how you would be able to play. Given the NFL 10 Day protocols brutal, positive test. So you got you got one of your two best players that potentially would be and then your other one who was still kind of working his way back. Obviously would not be ideal. But I can tell you that the Browns had he not been in the playoffs and 17 seasons. They're not looking ahead to any of that. They're just worried about getting in. You have a better any longer. Cleveland. He's getting this would be a huge win regardless of what would be ahead for this franchise. Jake Trotter, ESPN NFL reporter Joining us here on Game day looking not just at tomorrow, but beyond Baker Mayfield is set to conclude season number three, which means as a first round pick, he's going to be eligible for a contract extension this off season. How do you think the organization is going to proceed with Mayfield and the off season are they're going to get into talks with them, Or is this going to be something that kick the can down the road on? Yeah. I mean, I think that his really changed in the last couple of months with the way that Baker has played. I mean, since you know, from week week seven, the game that oh, no decent was heard off in in Cincinnati. On up until just game. It will throw that one out. You know, for personal reasons, even though dissident play well, but during that stretch There are only two other quarterbacks had a higher T B r in the NFL. One of them was Republican when the NDP issue here, watchers and then you had Patrick, the home, the other those the only two guys that had played better in Baker here is to keep you know during, you know that 10 weeks stretched so so You know, I think the first question you know, they're gonna pick up the fifth year option and I think that I think that has been decided. You know, I think that's very likely at this point. And I think the extension is a real possibility. I think they definitely will talk at this point. And, you know, listen. Baker hasn't been perfect this year, but you have to look at the contacts of Cleveland. This is a franchise that it started. Many different quarterbacks going back to 1999. This was a franchise that expended the number one overall pick in 2018. And if that player gets you into your first two playoff parents and 17 seasons It's just really difficult to not be tempted by making him your long term answer and And I think that all the moment, um will be in that direction, especially to the Browns win tomorrow and finally break the playoff drought. Jake Trotter here on Game day, ESPN Radio Matt Jones, Meyer, Metcalf and Joe 40 Baht. I'll get you out with this. What do you think happens tomorrow? I mean, I can't think of a game where I'm less sure, not just about results, but about who's gonna be on the field. How much each team cares. We know the Browns care, but how much Steelers care going into it. You're around these guys like what do you think's happening? Yeah, It's gonna be a really bizarre game. Because you know, like you said, the Steelers are gonna be resting guys. You know, Joe Hayden's out their outstanding corner duty. Oh, you know, covert issues as well. But they're going to try to win the game. I mean, that's my sense of it. And any time you get a rivalry like this, and nobody's gonna be laying down to the other team, and given everything that happened last year with Mason, Rudolph the piles, Garrett helmet swing and everything that Followed during the off season. You know the accusation. I think the Steelers would love to knock the Browns out of the playoffs with basic Rudolph in this setting, so I do not think this is going to be an easy game for Cleveland..
