Do Five Year Olds Know Who They Are?

"So let's play the opening of this video. Well, we will, when we can. And I can act it out. You probably could actually. I want people to understand what you were asking people to sign that a 5 year old be allowed to do this against the will of the parents. I'm not talking about putting on a dress, okay? I'm not talking about putting on some makeup. I specifically said you're going to go through hormone therapy and then surgery. And then, you know, when people were signing, I was so incredulous that I even sent a couple of times, did I mention that she's 5 years old? Oh yeah, I don't know. And they would go in and say, oh, she knows who she is. She should have the right to make these kind of choice that age. She has exactly what she's doing at 5 years old. I'm not sure I wasn't throwing my feces around at 5 years old. I think I might have been doing that.

Spencer Levine on Making His First Cut in Nearly Five Years at the Shriners Children's Open

"We can get into a bunch of shit because you're not on social media, but like the people love you. I've told you this before. Especially especially we'll get to the happy Gilmore putting scenario at some point 'cause obviously you came in hot, you said you win your old man's garage and you saw this thing and it was dialed or whatever, but first of all, man. Like the Monday queue or whatever, like I saw that and I texted you once I saw you were in or whatever because I know how that shit can go. You can end up in a playoff out of nowhere, but what were the emotions going through? When was the last tour event you played? What were the emotions going through just getting into the Monday queue? I think last time I was in Vegas, you maybe made it to Vegas that time. A couple of years ago, but how are you feeling? Yeah, that was the last tour event I played due to a couple of years ago in Vegas. So yeah, it was nice, man. I went in there, you know, this Monday with not a whole lot of expectations. I mean, I've been playing well at home, but hadn't been planning a competition, but yeah, I just had a good day, dude. I hit it well, and was able to make a few putts and that course is, you know, one of those courses where, you know, you see the scores are pretty damn low. So if you're driving it good there, just kind of like at the actual tournament course, you're gonna have a lot of scoring opportunities. So I drove it really good in the Monday and then I shot a low score and made some putts and I was waiting around. I was in the morning, so like you said, I kind of figured I'd be in a playoff and then it kind of felt like a bonus not to have to play off, so. Honestly, dude, I just felt I was just happy bro I was just happy to be in a tournament. I had a lot of my buddies came out. My dad came out to watch the tournament, so it was just a fun week, man. It felt like the old days it really did. It was a good time. The whole week. I couldn't ask for much more. It was great.

"Now, here's Mitch. Come back here in 7 60 W there will know the problems that we had recently with flooding. With storms here in the area, particularly in Detroit with homeowners and particularly in basements, So many Valuable items, precious items, family items, things that you can't replace ended up being lost, uh, in in floods that nobody anticipated well. Turns out that actually, some people did anticipate them to independent investigations of the flood. That came five years ago. You remember in 2016 that really messed things up over on the East side of Detroit. Actually suggested ways to deal with future storms, but officials did not implement Those measures, including creating an alert system for vulnerable homeowners that might have stopped what we are dealing with and what they had to deal with this summer. MLL Rick, the Pulitzer Prize winning reporter. And East Sider, who has been calling for Ways to deal with floods in Detroit for for the last five years is on the line with us right now. M l How are you? Mitch. It seems obscene for me to complain about my basement flooding as traumatic as it was when I'm talking to a guy who's helping people in Haiti who are dying because earthquakes and because of an even more incompetent government, so I I hope we can keep Some perspective.

So it's clear you've always kind of had this entrepreneurial bug in you but it wasn't always that you were you know this aspiring kind of business owner so talk to me about the story from you going on a life changing trip to haiti to go on all right. Sooner or later for some reason it's like a geise bubbling up to the surface. You bring up this historical perspective. That is super super helpful. You'll have of history so talk to us about what happened in two thousand sixteen according to the baron and what is the impact. How much because. I think mike flynn was right when he called sixteen a peaceful revolution. How much has politics changed. And what do you expect in the near future in terms of the way going to shakeout. I've in the republican party changed and likely for our because what what one from being a country club republican party you know funny polo shirt. Republican party ties blazes. As as now a populist nationalist a good way working working class pro america republican party and the lines are drawn so clearly between those who stand for the american flag. Those who don't between those who believe there are genders that should be assigned at birth and knows who do not between those who wanna fight back against china and those who do not so. "Last year. Chargeable reported that there were twice as many new english-language podcasts that were created in twenty twenty compared to the previous year and many languages so much more growth the highest being hindi-language podcast which grew by fourteen times more which was doubled the growth of chinese and spanish podcasts. Plus currently there podcasts and ten new languages in india including thumb in telugu milem canada and even assamese and bulge bully to name. a few. I've been working in the space for the last five years and in the last three years i've started my own company to create a one stop shop solution for creators and brands and platforms to make podcasts. I have worked with audio streaming apps gio salmon and audible where we've licensed our shows or created shows for their platforms. I've worked with well known pastry chefs to create an entrepreneur. Podcast no sugar coat or worked with a gynecologist to create a women's health show. 'cause she says she's fine or may chose with comedians. Like a matchmaking. Show the comedian called caen sorge or comedy panel show with comic called a beach matthew and it's called on experts into any twenty even though it was a really tough year and twenty twenty one even more so i was really hoping that could have a chance to speak at podcast movement in nashville itself this year. But of course. We're living in pandemic times and i'm grateful that i'm at least here. Virtually one of the most interesting aspects of twenty twenty was at even though it was a difficult time it was. We realized that there was growing attention. We were getting from brands. I got the opportunity to work with. A dating app called bumble. And their indian counterparts to conceptualize and produce an original podcast with them called is romance dead. The show was about understanding the idea of romance through the things. We consider romantic like love songs. Food films books and told from the viewpoint of musicians filmmakers wedding planners counselors bakers and more. I mean come on. I was able to do a gas about romance. And in the title with bumble. That's a pretty big achievement for me.

Not very <Speech_Male> well <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> proverbs. We should follow <Speech_Male> what he says. <Speech_Male> We should follow who he is <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> again. <Speech_Male> It should be <Speech_Male> a new shock to you that the <Speech_Male> advice that culture gives <Speech_Male> you is terrible. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Do not trust your <Speech_Male> heart <Speech_Male> and do not <Speech_Male> make what is right for <Speech_Male> you. The thing that is chiefly <Speech_Male> important in your <Speech_Male> life <Speech_Male> because <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> how many of you realize <Speech_Male> that what is right for you. Maybe <Speech_Male> isn't being a great parents <Speech_Male> lawyer time. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Maybe what's <Speech_Male> right for me isn't being a <Speech_Male> great employee. You got other <Speech_Male> more time to do my own <Speech_Male> thing <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> like these kind of <Speech_Male> weird ideas. It's <Speech_Male> this idea that i should <Speech_Male> be selfish. Can be <Speech_Male> for myself and do <Speech_Male> my own thing <Speech_Male> when the truth is <Speech_Male> that our selflessness in this <Speech_Male> when we make others <Speech_Male> are focused. <Speech_Male> We honor god <Speech_Male> by serving. <Speech_Male> We honor him by <Speech_Male> giving <SpeakerChange> the good <Speech_Male> that we have <Music> <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> so the conclusion <Speech_Male> is this. I'll <Speech_Male> leave you with this thought. Do <Speech_Male> you trust him <Speech_Male> and his word <Speech_Male> or do you trust your heart. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Do you <Speech_Male> look to him in his word. <Speech_Male> Inform you or <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> do you allow your <Speech_Male> feelings and your emotions <Speech_Male> and your will <Speech_Male> to be the thing that guides <Speech_Male> you along <Speech_Male> how much <Speech_Male> you changed over. Are <Speech_Female> there any changes <SpeakerChange> <Silence> you need to make. <Speech_Female> And <Speech_Female> what. I mean by. This <Speech_Female> is obviously <Speech_Female> <SpeakerChange> when <Silence> we talk about cash flow. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Your income <Speech_Female> is your income. <Speech_Female> And there's <Speech_Female> not a lot you <Speech_Female> can do about it <Speech_Female> short of getting <Speech_Female> a raise or an <Speech_Female> extra side hustle <Speech_Female> or picking up an extra <Speech_Female> client. <Speech_Female> All those things <Speech_Female> are great <Speech_Female> and inflows <Speech_Female> are <Speech_Female> fantastic. <Silence> We love the inflows <Speech_Female> but <Speech_Female> it's the outflows <Speech_Female> that we <Speech_Female> really need to <Speech_Female> be concerned <Speech_Female> with. The outflows <Speech_Female> are where <Speech_Female> a lot <Speech_Female> of these bad habits <Speech_Female> that are just kind <Speech_Female> of unconsciously <Speech_Female> carried <Speech_Female> through our childhood <Speech_Female> might show <Speech_Female> up <Speech_Female> and <SpeakerChange> we <Speech_Female> might not even be <Speech_Female> really <Speech_Female> super aware <Speech_Female> of it so <Speech_Female> focus on <Speech_Female> your outflows. Focus <Speech_Female> on looking at <Speech_Female> each of <Speech_Female> your outflows. Every <Speech_Female> little penny that goes <Speech_Female> out of your bank account <Speech_Female> and say to <Speech_Female> yourself. <Speech_Female> Is this getting <Speech_Female> me. Closer to <Speech_Female> michael's <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> is this not <Speech_Female> now. Of course every <Speech_Female> outflow again is <Speech_Female> not gonna get you closer <Speech_Female> to your goal and they're going <Speech_Female> to be a lot of things you have <Speech_Female> to pay <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> that you just have <Silence> to pay but <Speech_Female> that extra <Speech_Female> money that <Speech_Female> extra bit of money. <Speech_Female> That's what we <Speech_Female> really need to be looking <Speech_Female> about. Because <Speech_Female> these money habits <Speech_Female> passed down <Speech_Female> they can be tough <Speech_Female> can be really <Speech_Female> tough to break. But <Speech_Female> i <Speech_Female> think it's it's <Speech_Female> so worth it <Speech_Female> not only will lead <Speech_Female> to a better relationship <Speech_Female> with money for <Speech_Female> you <Speech_Female> but it's also going <Speech_Female> to create a better relationship <Speech_Female> for future <Speech_Female> generations <Speech_Female> for your kids <Speech_Female> and everybody that <Speech_Female> you come in contact <Speech_Female> with <Speech_Female> and this is <Speech_Female> how we change. Money <Speech_Female> is a culture and society. <Speech_Female> <Silence> I believe that <Speech_Female> it <Speech_Female> all starts with <Speech_Female> you and that <Speech_Female> change can <Silence> really happen. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> So i want to give a couple <Speech_Female> of shoutouts. <Speech_Female> We're starting <Speech_Female> this new. Shoutout segment <Speech_Female> on <Speech_Female> a podcast. <Speech_Female> We have <Speech_Female> a shoutout <Speech_Female> from rebecca. <Speech_Female> Who said <Speech_Female> i got <Speech_Female> married <Speech_Female> last month. I <Speech_Female> had been postponing <Speech_Female> my wedding for <Speech_Female> over a year. <Speech_Female> I had the most <Speech_Female> magical wedding <Speech_Female> and a fraction <Speech_Female> of the price. I <Speech_Female> have to tell you <Speech_Female> that. I am so <Speech_Female> grateful that i actually <Speech_Female> waited to get married <Speech_Female> because <Speech_Female> this was the wedding that i <Speech_Female> was actually supposed <Speech_Female> to have so <Speech_Female> congrats <Speech_Female> to you. That <Silence> is incredible. <Speech_Female> We <Speech_Female> have another shoutout to <Speech_Female> brian. Who <Speech_Female> recently paid off <Speech_Female> feel last <Speech_Female> two <Speech_Female> thousand dollars <Speech_Female> of student loan debt. <Speech_Female> I mean that deserves <Speech_Female> a <Speech_Female> champagne. Her mission is to help other female entrepreneurs on their potential so they reach their goals. Live their dream jessica. Welcome to the show. Thank you very much having me. I'm excited is You know ten pm here. I'm quoting but i'm so. He thought chevy hopefully later today will go well so this is certainly been a difficult year for people to even more than ever to have that work life balance because work now is in your life all the time because it's at home absolutely and I mean you know you lost your i. I had an office. And i had all these different things at one point i think just before the pandemic he i was running five different businesses. I had a warehouse. Had offices i had all this craziness going on. I was actually on a plane every three weeks so my life was a little bit crazy and throughout the policy. I think it's been a good listen for all of us to take a step back and really look at what successful. What happiness means us. And very yeah. I mean started to chat more about that. Do you think that united states. It's hard to find people to join your company. Not only because of the unemployment benefits the federal government is giving but also people are really reevaluating. What they wanna do for work because they've had a chance on the last year and a half really to pause for maybe the first time in their life. Yeah definitely having similar things here in australia. Is that You know the government auditing out on important than sorry. There are a lot of people who've just enjoying their time at home. Not necessarily doing things. But what i think is super important and the message that i heard to share with a lot of entrepreneurs out there that the old idea of having to be jet-setting all the time to having to and you know x. Amount of dollars. The things that i say the words that i see around on social media at the moment is i wanna be a sixty entrepreneur or seven figo entrepreneur. And it's like what does that actually main to you. And i found that a lot of entrepreneurs or a lot of these people. I just deciding that that is what success means to them. Because that's what they see other people doing. And i just decided we'll about what society thinks in success having the slash office slash 'cause you know the gucci handbag. Whatever that is that they think themselves into this whole and they never have actually stopped and often. So why do. I want to create new sweden. All why am i working. Twenty four seven notes any any time with friends or family or or having fun more. Am i really doing this. Four and. I don't think anyone really stopped. I mean that's why. I was being of the five years running five different company Globally before i even had that revelation myself to stumping ask myself. What does success really mean to me and through a lot of those discovery in so jenny. I'm an internet. I love being by myself so he actually working from hardens is the best case scenario for my office. Yeah not bad at all. you know. it's interesting to me. Just because i think that people are attracted obviously to the financial success because it's easy to define right and as you said they see also two other people out there doing the same thing and i certainly think that money. Financial success is a part of success. But then i asked other people okay. And what else is it besides that because just because you get there doesn't mean you're going to be happy. How do you think people are changing now in hopefully and i say it really in quotes a post pandemic world. How do you think they're changing their definition of success now doesn't mean that. Oh my god. We were scared out of our minds. As last year we might die so they really want to do something else with their life. Besides just make money. Yeah i think for everyone. Everyone jenny would be completely different. That what. I think it caused the ol- to do is instead of constantly looking outward constantly moving to the big wide world for the answers it caused us to actually fled and look inwards for one and slurred down and actually give al bringing the time. And you know we hear all these things either. Mindfulness you've gotta do meditation. You've got to do these things. But how often do we actually really stall and do them. It's just adding another thing on out to do at least but i feel like in the pas. Year is being a ton of ups and downs. Everyone being on the arm roller coaster. And you know obviously some. He will cut it tougher than others. But i think everyone can probably agree that we've actually had to look inwards. It'll be and it's helped us to reassess what we actually doing pre pandemic. Because like i was saying. I feel like people get into these mindset. They just working. And i think to a lot of entrepreneurs out there particularly female on and the first thing i always ask them in morning joe go right now and the number one answer i hear is i just want to grow my business. I just want to scale my business but they never knew how much i never know why they never know exactly what that looks like. And so we've constantly working for more more more but what is more. Why are we making more. You know it's very. I think the thing really cool you know a lot of Introspection and looking in with to really discuss y. You know it's interesting to me. Because i always say there's always someone be richer smarter than you right. So there's really no limit up for me in my life. All i would say always. But i was but i'd say over the last twenty years i've defined success as being able to support my family at something i love doing. How do you define success for yourself. Jess. yeah so interesting. So i also think the definition of success can change because you know we really different periods of life and when i fought my first. We've missed it was a seymour. Fashion brand a global brand. You know. I got to go to new york fashion week and believe things and i was twenty two when i started this business. Sorry my ideas exist at that time was getting to jet set to get to all these events and get to go to the fun for their sheets and hang out with the models and and you know how really cool designs that i made myself and that was cool but it wasn't necessarily fulfilling and i think a massive potholes deciding what success means to. You is really doing the work. I because if you don't completely know yourself in all areas in all avenues and understand yourself enough how can you really define what success means so. I went through a ton of you know. I have a bunch of coaches myself. I've done that ton of self development work and all these things and what i now can truly understand is that i am an internet i. I'm someone who who loves helping. People in concede that a ways that people can can create the successful themselves and sorry. I haven't really found my passion in the coaching. That i get to do but in that i have been able to build a business that supports my lifestyle just today for example friday i think friday bust. I don't have any clients. I don't have in meetings. I go to and do puerto rico day and just do something that is enjoyable. You know before these life what my business was hobie and play for me. I mean lagging that health a slower lifestyle and you know making making a good amount of financial income but i feel the need to constantly always seek more because i mean more would be. Now i can take care of my helpers. I actually have time to cook myself dinner. Whereas you know rewind free four years. I wasn't eating properly. I was just grabbing You know the quickest thing. I khuda off. I went again. Sorry to me. Success really health and looking after myself in my mind my body And making time for things that are outside of my business that just like me up and so you know success with different for everyone. So i don't want anyone to sort of listen to think that doesn't grad probably on friday and go out and do that but decide what it really means the. Where does that have to decide for the rest of your life thing time. That's why in the last twenty years is when it's meant for me but where does the inner work really stark. Because i think people's definition of success is what other people think of me. Do they think i'm successful. How do you start to do that. Inner work to figure out what you really want. Yes so. I think the idea of wondering why the people thinking all you know. A lot of people get stuck in comparison Because the lady but our brains. The wyatt is to categorize and to put them in boxes. And so the way that our brain makes extensively world is to compare. You'll sell weed wear someone else's in our people below you other people above you there sideway. Where do you see in life. But when you become suba hyper west from me on my journey. It was You know mostly working with coaches and and really understanding how the brain works and the and the functions and just getting myself out of my sign. This is actually something that. I really close to a lot of female entrepreneurs now in that they come to me and say jess. I wanna grow my business. Just i want to six figures suggest you know whatever it is but what i do them. The very first time is i help them. As a mindset coach. Really del date became going into little bitty find seattle. We have our conscious brain that says. Ooh i want to grow my beating. I wanna hit sixty. This is what i'm thinking. We have sub-conscious brain. some conscious grain is what. Keep the hot beating how to move. We got you know thinking of every single bodily function we need to do but ask some conscious mind is also what runs at conscious mind and and how we act and how we facilitate a whole life and sorry by utilizing a lot of months at tools and helping to coach my client through about to beep date into that some conscious mind. You already have the answers. We'd be nieces. The problem those everyone constantly wiping out with like you said what other people think of me. How likely perceived what you know. I wanna things figures and because someone else's big figures in it looks fun but you already have all the answers within the certain if you are feeling stock at this time i would encourage you to just off yourself. Why why why. Why why why. Why do i want this. Why do why does that make sense to me. And the more that you can be deep palm you can definitely try on earth that yourself.

"Alternative explanation the bears noting but has received little discussion. So far is the continued. Integration of the chinese grit as china developed its energy resources and became the largest builder of energy infrastructure over the last few decades. It developed an extremely unbalanced grid with enormous mismatches between supply and demand. China's scale and varied geography energy. Grid meant that extremely abundant energy resources were being produced in remote locations where there simply wasn't demand for them. In northern provinces huge amounts of power from coal and wind and solar went on consumed in the southern provinces abundant hydro resources far exceeded local demand. The major operation centers in china are mostly along the southern and eastern coast thousands of miles away from the most abundant and cheap sources of energy as a consequence trying to become the world's capital of energy curtailment as described by ohm's law. Electricity simply doesn't travel. Well it standard voltages and so must be produced relatively close to load centers when there isn't local demand for energy it goes unused so in two thousand sixteen. Reach fifty five terawatt hours a figure equivalent to the entire energy output of the country switzerland in two thousand sixteen china curtailed. Another fifty two point two terawatt hours of wind and solar there simply was insufficient local demand to consume this abundance of energy leading authorities to rethink the grids design. Starting in two thousand. Ten china has been constructing an ambitious continent spanning ultra high voltage power transmission network to transmit power from remote regions with abundant energy to load centers. Balancing the grid today. Forty thousand kilometers of high-voltage transmission exists with the longest line stretching over three thousand kilometers. Much has been made of the chinese. Communist party's ambitions or general aversion to freedom tech like bitcoin in justifying the mining ban. Less has been said about the fact that the presence of minors in china was always contingent on the availability of stranded energy. The central and regional government had hitherto tolerated the monetization of excess energy. Because it simply wasn't being put to alternative economic us but as the grid integration and load balancing has improved in the last five years. Bitcoin miners have increasingly begun to compete with other industrial and commercial uses

"Wanted to share three things. I wish i'd known done five years ago. Which i'm now making sure that our team sales for spills into the product tell other company leaders in sas not make the mistake that i did. The first one is what. I call account based support. We've all heard of abm. We did that in hearsay. Abm didn't help us with bob. Abm actually made bob madder because every time we try to nurture him with thought leadership or up sell him on a new product. He was reminded that we were working on things other than the thing that he asked for three years ago. So if we take a step back right first let's talk about what kinds of support cases usually get resolved. I throw the quick and easy ones. The ones that you're tier one support agents can do first call resolution. Everyone's happy restart device reset your password. Reauthenticate burlington account then. There are the high severity cases. You're step one step two your psychos down. Everybody from engineering is no rushing into the proverbial office pulling all nighter to get the site backup asap l. Hands on deck. Third category are the issues that lots of customers are complaining about. Good pm's in pm one-to-one we're trained to focus their into the the rest. Lets you become accustomed development shop that leaves the risk zone. The ever elusive important. But not urgent quadrant in this is where bots ticket was waiting for us. He really needed it for how they are enterprise. It environment was set. Up wasn't a quick fix. Didn't qualify as one by any means it would have benefited other customers to but to him. It was an enormous pain not to have it but it got lost in the mix. So i've been thinking about this pretty much nonstop for the last five years and this notion of account based support it's meant to solve issues like box and if you think about all of the different customer facing functions be have enterprise sales it's inherently account based marketing has gone based in the last few years. Now it's supports ternan services. Turn so that we can factor in whether someone is a strategic customer which is whether there's an open opportunity which his company did have whether they issued in rfp which they had this data we know exists in our companies that existed at hearsay. "Not everything happens for the same reason but we need to be open to letting god show us. That's all i'm saying today. Be the when you have a problem. The first thing you need to do is go to god. Yes and pray. Don't just ask god to take care of it. Ask him if there's anything you need to see. Maybe you're praying for god to get you out of debt and you just need to stop spending so much money. Oh never thought of that. I needed more energy. And all our gods good go walk. Well you know. I thought i was doing good but i sit ours ours ours and study. I sit hours on planes. Getting to where. I'm going to preach. And i've been working out of the gym three times a week for twelve years but the cardio exercise is a different kind. I'm just telling you move. Play some sports. Take a walk. Do something but get yourself moving so the life. The tenue can begin to flow and do something. Actually walking is one of the best things you can do. And if you think you'd like to have some time alone that's a great place to go get it an order by. Life's you know a walking partner. Well maybe you should just let your partner be jesus for awhile. Maybe you need to get out and just you know instead of getting a friend to walk with gossip amount all your other friends. Maybe you need to get out and just talk to jesus for a while. I'm having so much fun today. Now remember tonight. I'm going to talk to you about your mind. You can come back. Make a decisive dedication of your body presenting all your members faculties on the living sacrifice. Holy devoted consecrated well pleasing to god. Which is your reasonable rational. Intelligence service and spiritual worship see. Dave talks to you about the situation our country and tells you that we can't just pray. Forgot the fix it. We pray for god to fix it but to also show us what we need to do. It has become so real to me in the last five years especially that we are partners with god. We can't just sit around and ask god to do everything while we do nothing just wishing for things doesn't get it done. We have to say god. Show me the steps. That i need to take the have the result that i want to get in my life. I mean the bible says enrollment hebrews twelve that no discipline for the president brings joy. I don't have the time for that yes you do. Yes you do. You know something that. I've found out we do what we wanna do ave. That's just the bottom line.
