"For things that people spend time sitting at home but not necessarily you know going out and doing the things that they're used to doing your shopping for the things that they needed and now that the economies are turning back on then they're going out and they're beginning to do that I just wonder though if they get sick if there's a hot spot if your barber shop that becomes an infection point rate and transmission point then it's just going to all go away and that uncertainty you can't live with you can't pay your bills like that you can't live your life like that people are saving their money wondering if they're gonna have a job in in three months there's major companies doing wide layoffs companies you wouldn't even think of doing Laos it's uncertain times and that's not good for the economy is when consumers are uncertain of whether they should spend their money or go to a business or do any other things they were doing before I will say though I I I do have pent up demand for some things I have some holes in my jeans I should not be wearing them to work I mean I gotta wear a longer a longer search to cover up falls at I can't go try on jeans right so I think there's there's some truth to that there is there's a pent up demand but again we're seeing the reality of opening up too soon in Lassen county in far northern California they have fights over nineteen cases nights sided put the brakes on re opening as their as their planned obviously we don't know how often people getting tested in Lassen county and and and Shasta county and those places that are opening up with the governor's blessing by the way yes but in the more testing and get them in the cases increased and you know how how far we can put the brakes on the economy yeah can you any mention of that county that saw their case it took one that I love this line all it took was a single infection that spread to four other people before Lassen county which has thirty thousand people temporarily rescinded the orders that reopened restaurants shopping and other services and then it went on to say that it was a resident who traveled outside the county became ill tested positive and then all these nurses employees went around track down every person that person that come in contact with the tested them and found out who was so this you see this is just a small example of what needs to be done on a larger scale and think about how difficult that is as we start to re open can you name everybody if you were out and about as you normally would how many people did you come in contact with yesterday how many people did you get within thirty feet of yesterday or last week tell me where you were last Tuesday where did you go what did you touch who did you come in contact with can you remember are you writing it down probably not well if you give me a really detailed diary or if you're not leaving your house it's a lot easier to say I have left I have I I I went to the grocery store okay would you pass in the aisles did you happen it's it's it's it's all of that in certain do you understand why people say it's just easier to stay at home now and again you know and then the interactions of people are doing right now with the protests I fully support people's right to protest do I want to see the violence that we're seeing absolutely not but when you see a man die on camera right before your eyes he was killed right before our eyes van Jones of CNN called it a lynching that is what a lynching looks like and everybody saw the watch that video so I understand the protests I don't want to see the violence but I understand the anger and we will be talking about the starting next hour we will be going we'll be talking to Westwood one's Jim rope will be going out to Minneapolis Minnesota with CNN reporter Nadia Romero but I'll also be taking your phone calls on this as well because we're dealing with two major stressors my health crisis a pandemic that is threatening our lives and those of that we love and then the racial injustice that seems to be part of the American fabric and it doesn't matter how many protests how many years pass it seems to be the same response from the same people and the president of the United States as it make it any better with his tweets although I will say I'm going to apply its whatever flag and that although he retweeted it said when the looting starts the shooting starts that is that was re tweeted from the official White House Twitter account after Donald trump's Twitter account was flagged he put the exact same tweet on the White House Twitter account this is America let's take a quick phone call before we go to the break because Kevin's been waiting on the line Kevin's calling KGO from San Jose and Kevin I I'm assuming that you've seen the images you've seen the video of these protests happening around the country yes I have and I I guess I want to say that I feel for the people of Minnesota Minneapolis but they need to understand people of Minneapolis need to understand that it's okay for us to land and dabbed protester and staff but when we started burning down buildings started setting fire to a recent study morning this city and burning down a city and destroying their city that's thank you that's something that cannot continue it can happen do you understand the anger that leads to something like that and let me just also ask you this real quick do you understand that it may not have been the actual protesters that triggered that look that match I can understand that yes yeah I think and I think that that's what people need to keep in mind is that sometimes there are people and I'm not saying we don't know this although there are suspicions that you know it's not actually the protesters that were out there to protest the killing of George Floyd the start of the violence started the looting there are people actually go out there with the sole purpose of seeing it burned down to change the narrative do you know how to overtake it with the violence is it keeping it on focus but I understand the anger I really do four one five eighty eighty eighty eighty eighty eight.

Now CNN says they could get as many as thirty five to twenty three to take control. You don't want. Watch Nancy Pelosi speaker. The the Republicans keep the Senate though, they do keep the Saturday. They've gained three seats. Maybe they're gonna gain four seats. Right. So this is not a big Blue Wave. Now, if you read the stories earlier in the year, they were gonna get both the house and the Senate because everyone hates Trump. That's not really the way it's playing they might have fifty five seats Republicans. Yeah. All right proposition. Six repeals the gas tax results are trickling in. Dreary exciting to two point nine percent of the ho-. We're almost at three percent. And yes is winning by ten thousand votes. Four hundred eighty three thousand four hundred seventy six thousand Ray says refresh it how up to four percent and. Crap. We're losing. Okay. Can I go back to the old page page better? I like we're losing. Five hundred sixty nine thousand five hundred fifty thousand. I tell you this is a yoyo night roller coaster. Can we just keep doing the show all night? We get the other ninety six percent. Jump out the window. Are you good to counties again? So that's to. Can you figure it out? You know? It's a big four process. Siskiyou county. Yes, that's on the Oregon border. Oh, they voted. Yes. Forty seven hundred thirty seven hundred now. Yeah. That's it. Let's see. County which one Lassen where is that on the Nevada border way up north that's another fifteen hundred. Yes. Eight ninety no see the margins are big enough. They should be. Nobody lives at Lassen county. Oh, yeah. Add a year twenty four people twenty four hundred people voted in Lassen county. That's right. You know, that wasn't even one block of L A. How 'bout one apartment building on Wilshire plumas county? I didn't even a plumage. This leaves the eight counties. Do you know them all know one day? We'll do a test. Let me go back. I tell you when the LA county results come in. It's going to be ugly. Yeah. Cisco hasn't come in yet. Oh, that's even worse. You're right. That's going to be like ninety ten percent. Oh, I just want to run down a list of Gavin Newsom promises. So you know, what's coming? Oh, yes. Sure. Guys. We can't take this new sevictory lightly. Here's what he said on election night. These are actual quotes guaranteed health care for all guaranteed healthcare for all you'd have to at least double everybody's income tax for that. Yes. A Marshall plan for Ford -able housing. You know, what that would mean tax money to find a home for every single vagrant county there sixty thousand right there. Vagrants and don't wanna home a master plan for aging with dignity. That means deluxe accommodations for every old person in the state a middle class workforce strategy. I don't know what that is. That's pretty that. Sounds like, hey, think tank wonk. Yeah. But where's is giving everybody preschool? That's coming cradle to college promise for the next generation cradle today that means a sui as they're born. They get put some kind of education program at right to college, and we pay for it all an all hands on approach to ending child, poverty, that means that means tax money for all the poor people in the state, and that's twenty five percent of the of the state is in poverty. He wants to be audacious and bolt. Listen, no, family should ever lack a roof over their heads. No child should ever be raised over the poverty line. No patient should ever be denied access to basic health. Care, and no Californian should ever have to choose between the three how the hell do you pay for all this guy? Those things are all wonderful, but people should do that for themselves and not to mention high-speed rail would still keep chugging along. So that's the thing. Everybody should have a roof. Yeah. And and have but you have to pay for it yourself. You're going to take responsibility for your light. And we've imported billions of people in poverty to begin with. I mean, the nice easy way to explain this or the homeless people the vagrants if you don't have a mental illness diagnosed then get your act together. It's just that simple. Just because you don't feel like living under the rules, and you've got drug and alcohol problems. Sorry, we're not taking care of you. By the way, has he spoken yet. I guess not. So imagine she's in DC is not a displaying it. He's a Todd Spitzer is winning in the early vote count for district attorney. It'd be funny. If they didn't make her speaker, the Democrats just decided they wanted to do I just don't want to look at her anymore. And I want to hear she's got that Hillary Clinton nervous system. Oh, no, no, don't do that. Just stop. It a wake up Toma six percent until you're ready. Oh, no props six losing. Almost fifty thousand votes down seriously. Well, yeah. I don't make Crowley eight percent to fifty two percent. No. Yeah. Sorry. I don't know where the votes came from. That's your job. Well. The no votes are coming from sonoma's county Marin county, and now that Santa Clara county Kosta getting them out of the way, you'll low so what still open there we got looking. "Drifting down from the wildfires in Lassen county in Oregon for more. We're joined live in the KCBS ring central Newsline by Walter Wallace. He's with the bay area district and air quality district. So thanks for joining us. Walter air-quality being affected in the bay area. From fires in Lassen county in Oregon must be a strong winds there. Yes. So we are we'd let people know that the issue here qualifies just let you know that you may see smoke, and if you do smell smoke, you're probably being impacted and we want to let the people in the community know that if you are you have young children or the elderly you can take preventative measures to make sure that you are safe just by staying indoors, you know, putting the air on recirculated and just limiting your exposure outside while we have the air quality advisory in effect if you do smoke. Okay. So talk to us about how close we are to federal health standards. So right now, we are in the moderate range. We don't expect any type of exceeding unhealthy for sensitive groups. So we're we're expecting good in moderate all throughout the bay area. You know, people don't need to worry about us succeed in a federal health standards. But we just want to let people know that we are here. We are monitoring it and you do have vulnerable members of the community. Just let them know that if they do smell smoke. They are being impacted, and we just wanna make sure that they know that. We're out here working hard to make sure that they're saying. Okay. So as firefighters up north trying to get a handle on these fires that are burning out of control talk talk to us a little bit about. Forecast that that your district has when it comes to how long this will be in effect. Sure. So we are expecting this. According to our meteorologists, they think that air quality should improve. And as far as disability as well by Sunday. And so we have this effect in effect until Sunday, the air quality advisory was issued on Friday, and we're expecting you to be in effect until Sunday. Okay. Now the smoke. Walter is it's it's higher than the normal. Is that correct? Tell us tell us why that is. Yes. So we we do see the smoke is higher in a mainly. The reason why luckily for us that if there we have I don't wanna get too technical. But there's usually an inversion layer and the inversion is going to affect whether or not the smoke comes up or stays down. So when it does stay down, and it comes towards ground level. That's when you have to be more concerned as a as a citizen. So if you have asthma bronchitis. And and and the smoke does come down to ground level. That's when you need to be up. Concerned because it's going to exacerbate those type of health issues, right? And how about the the wind and the fog conditions here in the bay? We're going to have some fog developing after midnight tonight is that going to help us out. Well, the I talked meteorites, and they they let me know that they are expecting a little bit more onshore wind. That's that's that's the extent of what I know as far as the the wind. So with the wind will come some improvement in the air quality, and it should relieve us from some of the smoke that people are seeing in smelling in our air quality is in the in the moderate range. Right. So how long are you know, when does it get to that that not so moderate higher range where we have to have a spare the air alert. Well, you know, whether it's is unpredictable all really depend on on the on the patterns of the wind, you know, as long as the win, Tim tends to move push push everything eastward, then you know, we can be out of the the moderate and back in the good in no time. But it it just all depends on the weather according to the by the weekend, we should be. We should be okay. Walter wallace. He's with the bay area air district. Thanks for joining us today. Walter and getting uh updated on this. Know condition that we're seeing all the way down from from the Oregon border. My pleasure. Have a great day. You too..

Percent contained evacuation centers have been established how many homes, are affected something, like five hundred homes have or structures have burned five thousand more are. Threatened and no word yet on a possible containment time other than obviously with only five percent contained they have a long way. To go so there, are highway closures in the area up there in Shasta county along to ninety nine and other roads if you really want the complete information on road closures evacuations and things like. That up in Shasta good website to go to is the Cal fire site, so if you do, an internet search on. The phrase Cal fire incidents it'll. Bring up their current fire, information for all the fires Throughout California that, Cal fire is overseeing do other fires northern California going on In medicine oh county the river fire outside, hop land eleven thousand acres five percent contained the ranch fire northeast, of Yucai thirteen thousand acres and five percent contained other fires, going on the, let's not forget about, the Ferguson fire down in Mariposa county, which closed Yosemite, national park on Wednesday and that fire is now covered fifty three thousand acres and. It's, thirty percent contain that fire outside most of the tourist attractions of Yosemite. Fortunately and they're talking about reopening Yosemite next Friday. Around four PM or so but warning that there, will be limited facilities available but do you really wanna breathe all that smoke which is the reason they closed, down to begin with because of all the smoke gets settled in Yosemite valley but still the good news there is that they're going to reopen, Yosemite next Wednesday, on a limited basis A lot of other fires throughout California, that you can imagine there's one that you're not hearing much about up in Lassen county west of Spalding and, that would be north of Susan and that's eighty nine hundred acres and that's only six percent contained so Not only don't, do anything stupid like you know throwing a cigarette on dry grass or something like that but also even in your best efforts to control the, threat of wildfire you could be. Causing problems which is why it's so important that, if you do doing any. We'd maintenance as far as weed, whacking or mowing in fields this time, of year do it early in the day when it's not as windy carry a cell phone with you so you can call nine one one if possible and also keep. Water handy if you're doing a limited MO, if you will of your own property you may. Have faucets around and you could have a long enough hose with you so, that you can use it from the faucet, to wherever you're going, to be mowing it's always a good idea before you mower. We'd whack on your property is walked the area I and get rid of any, obstacles that may be hidden by the, weeds but could spark if hit. By a blade such as a mower Blade or, even a weed whacker that has a plastic. Blade or a metal blade so walk the area I do it early in the, day, don't leave, your equipment in hot dry grass either and again always. Err on the side of caution if you see smoke or a fire, developed from your mowing or, your weed whacking call nine one one first and then jump into, action with that the garden hose tip on your hose and he should have basically an on off valve at the end of the host so, you don't have to run back. To the faucet turned the water on and then, run back to the end. Of the hose if that hose, can stretch to cover the area you're, mowing you can have a hose end on off valve on there so you just need to get to the business end of the hose and do that but again think. About where you park your more or your, weed whacker if that happens and make sure it's. In a cut area cleared area preferably and again don't do stupid things like driving off road they're calling that car fire, the one up in Shasta county as a mechanical vehicle Accident and they haven't been very specific on what caused it if it was a spark from the car or some sort of faulty muffler or. Catalytic converter or or what, happened I'm I'm not quite sure but still it was a vehicle related accident that they think started that fire the car fire up, in Shasta, county in the car the car the, word car fire by the way spelled c. a. r. r. and refers to car powerhouse road up near whiskey town. Where the fire apparently had started so be careful out there in don't breathe too much if. You can alright upcoming garden events I think we told you about harvest next Saturday at the federal..
