"It is whether it's his interviews with Jim Gray, or that when he was being questioned about the Flake gate, and he just kind of sending really last that the question And you don't not acknowledging even in post game that he didn't know was forced down. I mean, here, that's right. Yeah, they're okay. There's a good examples. I think I saw you call and I saw Joe how we screened it. I'm like, What is this take gonna be, But those air probably good examples, but the same time though, Rick, thank you, Rick. At the same time, how many years is it? If Tom Brady wears his shirt funny. It's the story. How How is it? I don't know. I I I'm in the middle of this, and I don't want to go too far here. All I'm saying is, I don't really hate him. But I think I can understand if there are times when You know, it's something he does something that sort of silly or weird Or even you wouldn't do it or you don't understand it. And it sort of goes on the list here. I'm entirely it for me really is entirely about football. Like the, uh, dogs in the supermodel wife in the photo shoots and what? Like whatever the rock you know the celebrity life. I mean that I don't I don't care. Good bother me at all. I'm just I'm just tired of him being as excellent as he is, And I just, You know, I'm gonna hold the Patriots dominance against him for a long time. I mean, I still you know, my default setting is still the mentioned Bob greasy, and that was 45 years ago. You know, like I'm still there with Larry Song with that stupid hook on his home. It's like, screw that guy, you know, like I don't even like Alaska because of Larry's unca, and like, you know, now I got Brady and it's just I'm just I'm just full scan. I got nowhere to put it. Plus you live that celebrity life. So who are you? Do you look down upon it right? You know, we do have Ah, cottage, so Yeah, sure. That's it. E mean, is this you watch this video of him throwing the Lombardi Trophy over water. And completing the past, so to speak. You're not like it's not cool. That's not cool. That's pretty good. Like if that's not right, That's pretty good. I'm so I think and Whatever that makes me. I don't know. I guess I have to live with it. And I think that that shot of him throwing that thing and the video of him doing that. Wouldn't have taken that chance. Probably The rest of his career. I could do it again. The closet another make me forget the 30 times, though, that he that he beat me over and over like that disdain will always be there for May. I feel here's who I Hate. That's where reason here's why I hate and sports. With hockey. This was always easier for me, and it's not so much anymore because the game has changed so much, but those guys who would hurt my guys, I hated those guys. I hated the Bruins. Hated the guys on the Bruins, who looked like they were out to hurt my guys. The sabers. That's who I hated in sports. This the goon guys like That's that's that There's a difference there for me. You know, you beat me playing the game. I don't I've never gonna hate you for that. Just wouldn't I don't even know it just doesn't seem right at all. It just sort of you. I tried. You won. My team lost. That's that. I mean, I'm jealous. I am envious and jealous. A madam upset. No, I don't hate you. But you go like that. Richards, who played In the I guess I subconsciously I wanted to sound really old saying that that Richards who played and we're just like he was so dirty. Guys like that. The dirty players I always hated those guys didn't go to Dorne offer there. What is that? What is Dorn offer? I know what you mean. But just Yeah, that he was like that Dawn Harper instead of Richards Richards, at least played like, you know, in color television in HD, like if you don't offer would be version of that reference. I'm sure you and I could think of 100 guys over the years that were just like dirty players. You know, there's there's as I'm older. Now there's a part of me that special sort of wishes. I would have liked them that some of it was an act. Not all of it. Some of it was sort of an act. But like Claude Lemieux is just like obvious. Oh, my God, I hate this guy. He gets away with it. Why don't they just throw him out of the league if they really cared, But you know, I'm wiser. Now I know how it works. And how the hockey does want to throw anybody out of the league. They just wanted What they want a state. They want to get the news they want. They want toe want to continue to exist, and they it's a whole different conversation. It's just like those of the guys I would hate in sports. This guy doesn't really qualify like that for me. I don't think I've ever really felt differently about it. Too much, at least. I think the most interesting thing is that it's sort of Maurin tense for you now. Because of how it won't stop. Brady will not stop. And I think I would say that probably for most fans, it goes the other way. I think there are probably a lot of fans now who I met say, I'm not sure I'd say they like him or or even like him at all. But they might hate him less. Is this was really Amazing. At 43. Yeah, well, It's possible that I hate him less and I'm just more comfortable expressing it. S o. It comes it comes out like Aida more now that I did five years ago. Uh, I don't know. I mean, that's possible. Um so it could be me that's changing. Like I just feel more. That he's sick. Suppressing my maybe just like here in your attic. Yeah, right. Right. It does feel I mean, I don't have a beer here. But like, you know, There's a certain level of comfort speaking that you know it's It's just a little different. I guess I don't know. I mean, it could be. I'm just I don't know, man, but the cheating is a big deal. I want to say that I want at least stick up for that, like the two scandals. That he was a part of Matter. In all of this, and I e. I despise how we just forget about it because it's football like we're not gonna make ourselves and saying like to always bring it up. Would make me crazy. But when you really push me on it That, you know you talk about guys being dirty or trying to hurt your guys or whatever and like in hockey, and that being a problem and like I hear you cheating the game is to me even worse than that. If you cross a line competitively and like, you know, I've done it. It happens and you could understand it happens. And so it's you know, For me, it's a little more forgivable. You like pathologically choose to cheat. I got? No, you don't. You don't get to recover from that You wanted to hate you for all time. You want references to all his winning and accomplishment? Sort of. You want it referenced in there. You know what? Whichever one it is the deflated footballs. SPI geh. I wanted reference for more. I'd certainly don't expect it and that makes me mad. I know it's not gonna come somehow it works. You know, the machine just keeps turning out. How great Oh, look at this. Unbelievable. Timeless wonder, you know, so no. No one wants to write the story now about what the flight gate and spy gate meant tol his success earlier in his career, but which is still not quite clear. By the way, we're sure you know, right? It was never thing was never that clear. They got busted. They didn't He destroyed the evidence. If it didn't help them, why would they do it right? All right. Good stuff. We will take a break and look for more of your phone calls. Also, the we might be able to go to sabers games before the end of the month. Stay tuned to the update might show up in the bulldog here..

"This this is it's a it's a great story I also had tell you I think you're a great writer I'm definitely enjoying the book. Well, thank you very much. It was a lot of fun. I wanted it to be historically correct. I didn't want it to be a drug and sex, and here's who I dated after I dated share there was plenty of drugs in that book so far yeah, they are. We were stoned as hillbilly no sex though is. Very circumspect about that not yet. Oh, not yet. Okay. I got. I Got South Elsa owner. Well, let's get back to the album. It'll shine wanted shine and it contained your huge top five hit some places number one hit. Jackie blue now Jackie blue I was one of my favorite songs very different from the other stuff you guys do very different. How does that come above this like I said at the beginning of this interview we were all songwriters we all came from different bedrooms. We had a bluegrass guy we had a country guy myself I was kind of more of the rock and roll guy and Larry Lee wrote more pop stuff. When we recorded that song as you stated, Marge is very atypical of our sound. Yes. But we just as many of Larry Songs as anybody is songs. If you look at listen to that first album, you know Larry songs really different yet they fit in. Now on the second album Larry songs are really different but they fit in one of them being Jackie blue. We didn't think anything of it because we were just having a ball playing music right now they were paying us to play music. So we worked up Jackie blue ride alongside the country song and the Bluegrass Song and the Rock and roll saw does it was no big deal. But when we recorded at the record company, plucked it out of the album and made a huge hit out of. When it was a huge hit, it was starting to fade off the record company came to us and said, okay. Boys Jackie blue has done. It was Jackie red. Couple come on. Give us a little Jackie. Greene. How about Jackie Brown We and we told the recommend. Well, you know we don't approach our music that you guys don't have Jesse read now Jackie blue though I found out was originally written about a man not a woman. Yes Oud Jackie blue he was this and he do he went here. He went there Doodoo to do he was data Jackie. Lou played it that way for a while until we recorded the track Glenn took Larry Sides Larry. But what is what is the song about Larry told them about the guy and Glenn insisted that Jackie Blue Your girl? Why is that? It was thinking I don't know. But. He insisted that he said this is a number, one song jets, but Jackie must be a girl. So Larry and Steve Cash when we other room and they emerged two or three or four hours later but the whole set of leary all different settled Eric's and the newly and Jackie woman and the first time the rest of the guys in the band hurt it it kind of startled us because we've been playing Jackie blue it has a male song and all of a sudden. Oh. Jackie gown south of sex change. Yeah. This was before exchanges became more common right? Exactly. But this was probably the sex change I would imagine the easiest. Yes all you needed. A Pencil and a piece of paper different words and you're all. Yeah. So there we are. Now once again, our fans only knew Jackie blue as girl, but our close friends and family who had been listening to the Song Renew Jackie as a guy, and then all of a sudden she's going to the top of the charts..

"Are Tom Joins us on sports byline the former defensive tackle played nine seasons of pro ball with the raiders in the Eagles in both the AFL and the NFL, and also he won a super bowl championship when he was part of the Oakland Raiders Team and Super Bowl eleven that beat the Minnesota Vikings are take me back to New Jersey where you grew up what it was like growing up in New Jersey because I know you've played high school football at brick, township in New Jersey and Wayne High, and then you spent a year in the hargrave military academy. Yeah absolutely well, I was born in two neck, and then we moved to Wayne and that. After, my sophomore year in high school, he moved down to the Jersey shore to brick town and that That was a great way to spend my high school because he's got the beach every day in the summertime and. then. As we were getting ready for football you know run on the beach in line in the sand and make are stronger and get ready for the season that You know we go back to the Jersey shore every couple of years and. Spent some time there the soft white sand and the warm water and July. And it was it was great growing up there. One of the things that I remember about the Jersey shore and the couple of times I was there because as a kid I grew up also on the East Coast that Jersey had a particular personality I mean Jersey along the shore and elsewhere maybe you can help me out a little bit. Tell me a little bit about that personality of Jersey. Battalion. Well, a lot of Italians, a Lotta, Italian food still Villapiano from there. But. You know I mean it was. It was great definitely. The Italian influence coming out of. New. York City and. Jersey City in northern California coming down a lot of people coming down the Jersey shore deliver the. Come down the weekends the Garden State Parkway it'd be packed on You know Friday coming down and Sunday going back and. We used to wear the feather chips and the long collars roles and I had quite a a Hairdo when I when I was in high school and had hair you know slipped sit back on the size and then coming down in the front and just that. Italian influence. You know it was just there and It was part of part of growing up on pizza. Jersey Mike subs I grew up on Jersey Mike's subs back there. That was the original in point pleasant new, Jersey and. You know and now as you know out here and in Dublin and a couple other locations. I think they have quite a few locations. Jersey grew up on Jersey. Mike's let me ask you a little bit about how you ended up at Syracuse because you played for one of the legendary coaches, Ben Schwartz, Walter, tell me what it was that they saw you and how you ended up in Syracuse. Well, it was kind of a kind of a funny story As you mentioned, I went to Hargrave Military Academy I graduated High School I didn't have any football scholarships I could I could've signed with the mets at high school as a catcher baseball. about four, ninety, six, my senior year, and I had a good arm and. Called me games but I wanted to go to college. So my high school football coach suggested Hargrave and so I went there. I was only seventeen I graduated high school so it was kind kinda young and. Tell them skinny, and went to Hargrave and. Filled down and. Got My grades up and I actually wanted to go to duke and I told all the colleges You know that I was going to do but back then they had I had to have thousand over my of were On My college boards and then they had achievement test back then I don't think they have those anymore but. You had to have three achievements s over five hundred and I had to. The my English composition was three, ninety four. And looks at if you if you take it again and get over four hundred, we'll take it. So I told, all the other school is going to do come down you know don't call me anymore. So I took the English composition again I got three ninety four again. So the. Head coach Do you know? Told me that we you know. We just can't take you and I'm starting to panic and he said, well, where where, where would you like to go? And I had visited at Syracuse I said, Syracuse. So. He got on the phone call Ben, Schwartz, Walter and explain the situation and. I was off to Syracuse. Let me ask you about Ben for just a second because I had this image and I didn't see much of him. But I always had this image that he was like military drill sergeant indeed in my correct and then observation. Absolutely. No water darn practice and the. You. Know his pep talks where you know like getting ready to go to war you know and yeah he was There was some stories about him just mowing down Germans or something I don't know how true it was. Just line them up and bound but yeah. He was military discipline guy. and you know we had some good teams I went to the Gator Bowl my sophomore year we had Larry Song I'm floyd little in the same backfield and wants to the Gator Ball, we lost Tennessee but. we have some good teams not that's good. My junior and senior year but get enough. To. Go on and be a number one pick for the raiders you were taken in the first round of the nineteen sixty nine common draft by the American. Football League's Oakland Raiders of course, that was the last year that the AFL existed formality wise and I'm just wondering what did it kid from New Jersey know about Oakland California. Well during my college career Well not much. During my college career you know we had gone out and played and cal. You got killed like forty seven zero punter. Then I, tend a month for my hands on. went out on our own five yard line. and we played UCLA and we played we beat them And we beat you USC I think. But I just wanted to go to California I mean the ideal for me was to California because I liked it the weather and everything and The good experiences I did have visiting there and You know it's To combine that with to go with a winning team, you know to go with the raiders and. Let's just a dream come true to come come to California what did you know about Al Davis..

Now, we do you know, and and and run around for no reason just walked to the park. Not not gonna walk to the park. No, actually my dog. And I we've got this great park next door house that she absolutely loves we might have to get out there. We've we've had some really good weather here lately. By the way, I came in to the station was crazy Newsday yesterday. But I as I was coming in. I heard Christmas wrapping by Kurtis blow and it put me in a good mood. Okay. A Larry song. There. I hadn't heard it in a long time. Yeah. It is a funny song. So it it put me it put me in a good mood. And it's interesting because I love all new music. But I this is probably in the last few years. I think it's when you get around sixty that all of a sudden music is just not what you love to hear. But becomes nostalgia. I can't believe the old time Christmas songs that I heard a kid, and my parents played I hear it on the radio. Oh, man. My drawn in. Yeah. It just it doesn't bring back. I'm out one of those people. I wish I could go back there. Not that. It's a, you know, it's sweet nostalgia said it was interesting because my wife and her sisters and their husbands. "It was all said and done because some time in New England, but he had more years with the chargers and probably played in more pro bowls with the chargers than anybody else. I bet you in charger history because Callan Winslow was great. But he didn't he didn't play for fifteen years. There was a ladainian Tomlinson who then finished with the jets for a couple of years. So he didn't make it dairy with ladainian is I don't want any more L teas, and we designate the F word to now. Now, get all confused with who's using what? F- work. And when you know what I'm saying? Let's get this right. By the way, I just want you to know is a man of Justice, I did confront ladainian Tomlinson and scolded him. I come on man there. What do we do L T? There's already one in your own sport. How many pro bowls that junior have surprised by this twice as many as Fouts? He had twelve Fouts at six, right? Fouts was with the team for more years. I'm still trying to really starts. It says that Fouts's with the chargers from seventy three to eighty seven. I'm not as old school with the seventies and early around. So I don't know if he was a starter junior. Wasn't there for them in the years junior was only there for twelve years? Ninety two two thousand two putting only in front of one guy was there for thirteen or fourteen guys ever twelve he missed him by year or two figured out. But anyway, he went to he is the the leader in the clubhouse for chargers franchise. It's been around since the fifties or sixties for the most pro bowls. Junior, Sal, then he goes into England when they're eighteen or nineteen eighteen to know. And they're gonna go nineteen now because they're going to beat the giants because the giants loss I James, right? And he's gonna get his finest gonna get his Lombardi, and then he's going to sail off into the sunset. Instead, they lose dramatic fashion junior. Does not ever get his Super Bowl ring. And then kills himself a few years later after retirement, I think in San Diego or somewhere along along the Pacific. Okay. That is snake bit. Yeah. That even when you leave the franchise, although I'll get not the not the poop on your point that because it's a great trivia question Super Bowl six the Cowboys and the dolphins who catch who are the guys who catch touchdown passes from Roger Staubach in that game Bambi, Lance Allworth, formerly of the San Diego Chargers. One of the all time greats and Mike Ditka. Those are the guys that catch touchdown pass. For the Dallas Cowboys. It's weird. You think of one is a bear the other one is a charger, and yet there they were getting the Lombardi way, I was at nineteen seventy-one. Your larger point is true. Speaking guys out of place and out of uniform, and you know, the answer to this. But it's still crazy and getting back to Miami who were talking to a little bit earlier. The running back for the giants when char- heart. Check does a'miracle in the Meadowlands with her med words. Yes. Yes. Number thirty nine. Larry's song. That's right. He goes off to the world football league with Jim kick and mercury Morris. And I forget even what town they went to. But that was a we I don't I have no memory of that that predate my Lusetti, but anyway, good stuff. Good times talking about the great game of pro football web more of that coming at you later in the week. In the meantime, let me tell you about truecar not sixty minutes of football, just sixty seconds. That's how long this commercial lasts. You know, what else you can do in a minute..
