"Or an endorsement. No i'm actually looking forward to the next issue of green lantern too. I kinda wanna see where that's going. I'm i'm feeling some. Dc by absolutely there might be something me adult pair bet that it actually matters cerita. It's like but i'm just like valid because obviously do ultimate fighter cast. You're not reading any iranian some exit and still hanging onto marauders but by vivid on by freeman. Or did you see like in that x men legends. They got coming up. I i do in like a story about that. You know the original x factor team and then the arc after that peter. David's coming into his ex factor. Okay that or just wait for the paid for the trade kind of person at this point. Because i don't have time to invest i just don't that's only. Tv shows on backed up on so many book not on veggie right now. I just walked floppies commercials for her. She needs the trade so Talking to forty or through invincible. Yeah now oh okay yeah. So here's my big question. Were they employing that the immortal was abraham lincoln. I believe they did that in the comic. Then it they gave me abraham lincoln vampire actually. I was down for their on. That and i didn't get it until that moment and then it was like. Oh okay. i don't know his whole story. But i i like it. I like that. He's got apparently ultimate. Deadpool healing factor. Which is great. i mean the basic. It's the what vandal savage war. Jimmy now is a cave. You know straight strange. Meteor comes immortal. Why i guess he can usually heal again here. He kinda did wants his head reattached and you know one of the molar. Twins pounded on chest. And you know he can at anti fly all that other stuff so it's like you know it's it is pretty cool seeing the mortal back and again obviously not the last. We're going to give him because he already came back once and this he didn't even tear them apart insight pushed his hand to room. If we're gonna assume a man had previously been shot in the head and had his head taken off a you know really exactly. It's like clearly this man is is able to come back so that was pretty awesome. That's the drake kids. Spoiler abraham lincoln almost took down on man this episode. Yeah and it's just the whole thing. It's it's really great and you know i get the idea. That's the thing it's like not having ever read the book. And i really haven't gone to read them 'cause i don't want to get i don't want it to be spoke for me or did new super turned. Yeah which they should which they should quite. Frankly i'm curious what it is. I get the idea that there's this idea that maybe he was supposed to come here. And enslave the earth and the sudden love. And you know that whole old you know. Well you know. I'll be honest about that. No he cares about He also not his mom and cares about the cancer. Cares about lois. Who cares about jimmy. Well yeah that is recruiting team. You know as long as we have someone with a double l. Around will always be saying the name was also larry lawson then well no because you know then luke boy had break up the monotony edge but I guess i guess the only thing that that it. I don't wanna hate on me. Ma'am 'cause i've using that. There's a lot more to his story than we've gotten and it's like why now is the time to kill the guardians that sort of the question and that there might be something deeper too it it could be here you know and why he won't talk about it. It's like what exactly is the issue here. the bread and butter of heroes. Don't you say what big event happening in episode one in his life. What happened in episode one His son powers. But why does that mean he has to kill the other. Superhumans can breathe me successful. Oh i know i. I don't know that it seems like a thing to do. Quite it's premature in action you know and it all much though in a lot. That goes down the comic books. Any did kind of drive a little bit so i feel a. They kind of ended up for tv adaptation. So if you wanna give the radio it oh he was worried because that they were two whatever amna crony and You know that they would have been the that. He feared that they would be targeted by these other. Top level. superhumans okay. That's that's an interesting argument but it's also kind of a short sided argument on that on that rush time schedule. I just wanted to know if. I just wonder like me. Read the book. We know why he doesn't book. I just wonder if they're going to flip the script and with different reason just so people talk like he definitely is like like. I said he said he wanted to do things differently. For the tv adaptation. Then i mean that would be the biggest thing you could change. I think well especially if there is this idea of there being this antagonistic relationship between omni man and the earthbound heroes at it goes into this idea that you know if they tolerated him because he was singular but now that he is doubled. It means that they're going to accelerate their plans against them. That's that's problematic. So you know taking that preemptive strike. Well moe's the best. Diplomatic goal is.

Thoughts will check in with hammer at oakland. It's quite weekend again at oakland. Some some nice racing but not a not a headline weekend. Still plenty to come there though. Of course but The no double the feature. But we'll see what else Hammer last week he was having such phone trouble. I know there was some put a handful of things that rick wanted to get to and nick. Of course nick. Tamra top of our three. The haven't mentioned the the cartoon aqueduct. Fun starter stakes series. They've been doing the last few years. And of course two of the races will be involved. The ninth and the tenth will be involved in the cross country. So we'll go over that with with nick and The cross country involving the turf way the final three stakes. At turf way the ninth tenth eleventh. The ruby the the burnett and the kentucky cup as well as that ninth and tenth from new york which are tough a mile and three eight The stunned muffin. And for those. That are members that muffin and the dad's caps are the two starter stakes fields at twelve Seven eighths on the dads caps. Tough very tough races and then you fold in the turf way races. "Carrying Grandma Proud trucker. I've loved more than four million miles in my true if people knew what I know lives could be saying I was driving outside of Ohio when a gentleman stopped suddenly in front of me, but it takes my £80,000 truck 200 yards to stop. I've given myself extra room, but it's not a chance worth taking. It's our roads. Our safety visit www dot share the road safely dot gov. I'm Russ White for MSU. Today. I caught up with Detroit radio legend Dick Burton, who told me how he honed his on air philosophy. I think that my philosophy Developed. By listening to morning radio in Buffalo, where I grew up with my parents again include human but Clint B'elanna, but was very good on service. Time and traffic and the things that you hear on A J are kind of station, and so I had that aspect of radio what was important, and But then, when I was in New York for a little while ago on trips, their visit friends there They listen. Tio Morning Team Cleaven and Finch. W N E W and they were they were hysterical. Ah, I also heard Bob and Ray when I was in New York, and then later I heard him on the mutual known NBC had a weekend service or something, and they were fabulous, too. But I actually like Bob and Ray better because they were Mohr. Sounding like there were more spontaneous. Indeed. I think they were human. I just loved it. I loved what they did how they did it, and that's where I first heard that kind of radio. And the problem was it I couldn't into this day. Can't do voices cannot do it so well. I want to do that kind of show. I had to hire people to do the voices Did I want Teo? My concept was to entertain. Yes, Definitely. That was the concept from the beginning to the end. To entertain. That was that was the concept of the show. And then if I couldn't entertain if it wasn't funny, it wasn't witty. It wasn't this. It wasn't that Then I realized that I had to be informative. So if you can't entertain Be informative, And that's basically that's the theory. Dick Persons advice for young people who want to get into this constantly evolving broadcast and communications world is to understand and embrace what appeared to be the industries of the future. You know, five of my six daughters our $6 As I've said before, you know it took Gale. 54 months took me about six minutes, so and I hate to brag, but you know, you have to tell the truth. But anyway, it's I guess I would say to Ah The young people today. Especially the people of Michigan State or in the broadcasting field to also get into the high tech. Communications field in terms of Internet and watched to come after the Internet. I mean, get into the understand how you And I realized this is is beyond the interest and the capabilities of many students, including a guy like me. What is you can attach yourself as much as you can to the industries of the future. What appear to be any way that the industries of future And there will be other ones that they haven't even announced yet. So like I can't even speak to them, of course, but Because you've got to make money. That's the problem. You have to make money. And if you don't make money It limits a lot you can do in life. It's not everything, but it's an awful lot awful lot person told me about learning that two of the most famous and successful talents in radio today consider him their hero, and those two talents were 1st 1 was Rush Limbaugh. The 2nd 1 was Howard Stern. Wow. And so I look at the money these guys have made and how successful they have been To think I was their hero. Well, what it was was in Limbaugh's case, hey, had been as he later explained to me. He had been, and he's mentioned me on the air a couple times, but he had work in Pittsburgh with V radio, and he was in a shock. And what I didn't know was that ABC, which owned take you via time and W x Y Z, where I was working at the time here, trough, Senator you know, and what I didn't know is that they were making copies of my put on calls the column. Prank calls now or whatever. Scammed whatever you call him that they were making copies of them and they were mailing them to him, and he was listening to him and then doing them in Pittsburgh. And so that's how that happened about I was his hero as Faras, the Howard Stern thing we played a song. Called Liz Taylor thighs because when I was a seat this member list later it was very heavy. Hey, you can't say fat anymore. So anyway, she was very, very heavy and So Larry Lawson, who's a doctor, friend of mine, wrote a song called Mystifies to The tune of Bette Davis Eyes which at the time was a huge song. And so I played that well, somewhere along the line and to this day, I don't really know how The Washington Post picked up the story and printed it in their Sunday magazine. So big deal. One of you know, in those days, the magazine with Rodrick ofyour was a colored, You know a lot of colors, the magazine and maybe still is, but anyway Stern seas. This story in The Washington Post about my song list. If I was playing it on in Detroit and all this kind of stuff it was on C K Lled W here when I was over there, Stern's telling people on the air, and I'm hearing it from people who happened to hear Stern in Washington, D. C. Who are calling me telling his Howard Stern, who had been in Detroit, remember prior to this that he is claiming that I stole his song, so I call up Howard one day. Howard. I understand you know that these folks that I've heard your show there are claiming you stole. I stole your song because he had a song called Liz Taylor Thighs. I said Howard, I didn't steal your song. I didn't know you had a listing and he said Dick, he said, Listen to how high he said. You know me. I just talked to talk, he said. I know you didn't steal a song, he said. He said, It's a matter of fact. I didn't even write it, he said. One of our listeners did. I said, Well, Doctor, friend of mine wrote mine. And so anyway, At this point, he said, Listen, I was in Detroit for What a year. Whatever it was. I'm a W for And he said, I solicit to you a lot tape your show in the whole shot, and he said, You're my hero. That's what I want to do. And I said, Well, Howard, I don't believe you. He said No, really. I said, don't believe you, but that's nice. You to say anything. Thank you very much. So I have always marveled at these two guys who do talk. Don't play any music that talk, talk talk. And I guess you couldn't say there's two more successful people in the broadcasting business and those two guys, and I'm their hero. So I'll take it with you Stay in touch with Detroit radio legend Dick Parton at Facebook that come slash dick person. "Shannon Scott we won best news talk show poorer what was it major market in the state of Colorado or or something like that for this for this year and so and there's and there's producer Shannon right they're making me talk about it on the air so I thank you Shannon thank you for always knowing exactly the right sound and music to play among other things all right so yeah I was a little proud of myself today for for winning that but I wasn't willing to talk about all right let's switch gears this is an interesting story to me I mean you you've all heard the story of course unless you've been under a rock about all these rich people mostly but not all in California who were going through this dude named Rick singer to essentially cheat slash bribe colleges this specially yes athletic coaches at colleges to get their kids who were not athletes in two colleges that are very hard to get in to get them in as athletes right say that they road crew and take pictures of him on the rowing machine when these girls have never been on a rowing machine in their life and then and then bribe the coach at the college to put in a word say you know told tell college admissions Hey I want to recruit this person for the crew team or whatever the other team it was it was rarely a big visible major sport where you'd be able to tell you what it would mean this guy's quarterback right I mean he he doesn't even know how to hold a football you can't throw a ball for yards why did we recruit him as a football player it wasn't like that it was more of these well behind the scenes kinds of sports that made it easier so anyway a lot of these folks have been indicted some of pled guilty and gotten fairly easy sentences but the actress Lori Laughlin decided not to plead guilty and decided to play hardball and it hasn't been working out for her but it looks like that might be changing a little bit with a very very interesting story now Laughlin and her husband who's a guy named Mossimo G. a newly are accused of paying half a million dollars okay half a million dollars to get their two daughters admitted to the university of southern California USC half a million I mean I guess they have enough money to to them it it really doesn't matter and it did seem real silly at the time you remember that when this first came up one of their daughters who goes by the name of Libya jade and she was kind of a a YouTube star one of those people who is sort of in the Eris Helton mode of having a famous family and then in their own right is really just famous for being famous and not really for anything else it's a weird thing in this modern online world but anyway she said that girl said I really just kind of wanted to go to college to party and hang in you know that's all I wanted tell her parents were bribing people with half a million dollars to get her to get their kids into college so that the kids could party well anyway on Friday U. S. district judge Nathaniel Gorton issued a three page memorandum in order which there's a chance it could really change this thing right because Lori Laughlin I mean if she were to lose and get the maximum punishment I don't think she will get the maximum punishment although I do think she'll lose if it if it actually ends up going getting to a verdict she could face up to fifty years in prison for bribery and related stuff but here's what's happened in this case according to the defense the prosecutors got this quote unquote consultant Rick singer who was the guy who orchestrated all this so he would collect the bribe money from the parents and he would pass it on to the coaches and he would take his cut but it appears that he told the parents I mean the parents knew they were getting their kids in a way that wasn't really kosher but he also told the parents that some aspect of it was kind of charitable it seems and they donated money to something that on the surface appeared to be a non profit which is probably part of the criminal charges against Larry Lawson I'm not looking at the charges but there's probably tax fraud involved too because they would have donated this money to something that was listed as a non profit and then maybe taking it as a tax deduction when they knew it wasn't but anyway so this guy singer never really said it out loud as I understand it while this scam was going on never said to the parents you know this is we're bribing people never really talked about it that way but apparently the government agents the prosecutors and law enforcement working with the prosecutors when they got their hooks into singer they got him as they were wiretapping they got him to lie to the defendants to try to get the defendants like Lori Laughlin to say things will like the word bribe even though it never come up in their conversations before and the judge is saying is that some of this behavior by the prosecution is very very troubling and that they made a big mistake by not turning over singer's notes to the courts before and it looks like some degree of prosecutorial misconduct which doesn't mean that Lori Laughlin didn't do what she did but it does mean the prosecution might have some serious trouble it is not impossible the case against Lori Laughlin and against many others might be thrown out can you imagine that all right everybody have a great rest your afternoon Mike rice next year okay away newsradio Monday.
