Larry Elder: Not Focusing on Saying Bad Things About Trump or DeSantis
"What do you make of Ron DeSantis as a presidential candidate? I mean, is he a viable challenger to president Trump and de Larry elder? My producer is fired. Done. But I ran for governor Michael. I did not say one negative thing about any of my Republican rivals. Not Caitlyn Jenner, not Kevin faulkner, the two term mayor of San Diego. That's the candidate that Kevin McCarthy and the Republican congressional delegation in California wanted. I said not one word about John Cox. He's a guy that Gavin Newsom ran against in 2018. I did not say a single negative thing about any of them. When they tried to get me to do that, I said, look, the issue is not cost. The issue is not Caitlyn Jenner, the issue is Gavin Newsom, the way he shut down the state. In a more severe way than did anybody else? The issue is the fact that people are even California for the first time in a 170 years. The issue is that we're spending more money paying through 12 than ever before with our scores near the bottom. It's just homelessness. So you choose crime. And if we had focused if my opponents had focused that way, then maybe just maybe the first part of the ballot, which is the one revenue some out would have succeeded, and you'd be talking to me from Sacramento. So I intend to do the same thing here. I'm not going to bash Donald Trump. He's had a extraordinary president. He's got a strong record to run on. I think Ronda and his has been an amazing governor of Florida, has a strong record to run on. We should be celebrating the fact we have such a deep, deep bench. Again, I'm auditioning to the American people. Do you think that I am somebody who can carry the American first flag and who is somebody that you feel that you could vote, not hold your nose and vote with happily vote for so we can carry the day in November 2024.

"Larry elder dot com is the website if you'd like to go and support Larry's campaign, obviously it's a long shot, but so is your bid against Gavin Newsom and did you get 46% of the vote in California? My family correct? They got that wrong in the daily caller. It got 49%. 49%. Yeah. And think about this, Michael, in 2003, we recalled a governor here in California. Arnold Schwarzenegger became the governor. Since then, there are now 5% more registered Democrats, 50% more registered independents and independents in California according to The New York Times, vote Democrat, there are 25 to 30% fewer registered Republicans and still on the replacement side, I got 49% the same percentage as did Schwarzenegger back in 2003. That's pretty impressive.

Larry Elder: Auditioning for the American People
"Have that empathy for the American people and you have that America first mindset with a likeability that shorter your argument, isn't it? I think the same thing applies to a battle between you and Ron DeSantis as it would you and Donald Trump. Well, my argument is a little different, Michael. My argument is, I've been talking, debating conservative issues, defending them for some 40 years in print on radio on TV with callers. I ran for governor of California. I got 3.5 million votes around the Santa's got 4.6 million votes in Florida with a battlefield far less daunting than the battlefield out here in California. On the question two replacement side, I carried 57 to 58 counties in California, the only one I lost was San Francisco, and I lost that Michael by a whopping 149 votes. Got in with 8 weeks left. In 8 weeks, we raised $27 million from a 150,000 individual donors, half a home came from outside of California. So there's a record there. And I've never said that I'm running against Donald Trump, we're running against Ron DeSantis or anybody else. I'm auditioning to the American people. I want the American people to look at me and say, can you deal with this guy? Somebody like Larry elder, whose father, I came from abject poverty, never knew his biological father. Ended up cleaning 20s for a living, started little cat say when my dad retired Michael, this 8th grade dropout had a net worth of a little bit under a $1 million, owning the restaurant property, probably next door in the home we still have in our family. So that doesn't tell you what it can happen in America. I don't know what can.

Larry Elder: 'I'm That Guy' to Push Policies As President
"I got to start with asking you about this daily caller headline. I don't know if you would take issue with the way they've characterized your message. Larry elder sees a path to The White House as the likeable alternative to Donald Trump, the inevitable question then is, does that mean you don't think Donald Trump is likeable? Well, regarding the headline, Michael is better than being called the black face of white supremacy. So I'll take it. I like to ask you, ask you or listeners to ask your viewers a simple question. Have you lost friends because of Donald Trump? Are you no longer talking to cobra because of Donald Trump? Yes. Are you no longer talking to relative because of Donald Trump? Well, that's the problem. This election is going to be won or lost with a couple of 100,000 people, so called swing voters in a handful of states and the problem with Donald Trump is there are Republicans are of two minds. There are those who love, love, love Donald Trump, and there are those who love, love, love what Donald Trump did as president love his policies. Loves America first policies. But feel for reasons that are sometimes and maybe I think mostly entirely unfair, there are people who would not vote for Donald Trump if he walked on water. They'd say he can not swim. And that is a reality. So the question is, if you feel that way, if you feel that for whatever reason, unfair or not, that a substantial percentage of the population will not vote for Donald Trump because he's Donald Trump. You want to go down swinging, you want to go down with the possibility of reelecting Joe Biden and him handing over the baton to Kamala Harris and her finishing out his term and then perhaps having two more full four year terms, that's the risk that you're running. So if you like Donald Trump's policies, if you're pro life, you want the board of secure. You love the Supreme Court Justices and then lower court justices. You support school choice. You don't believe in the spending. You want to roll back taxes and regulations. But you want somebody who's likeable enough to carry that message and win against November Harris in November 2024. "The likeability factor is interesting because here's an article over at the daily caller about Larry's candidacy. Larry, of course, the well-known broadcaster for many, many years, the sage of south central, the great el dusky, one of the, the most accomplished broadcasters I know, and of course he's right on policy after policy after policy, frankly, he's sort of a dream candidate for people who participate in this show. Headline at the daily caller, I'm that guy, Larry elder sees a path to The White House as the likeable alternative to Donald Trump. Now we've been talking about likeability today as it applies to Trump and desantis because let's face it, Trump is more likeable than desantis. Desantis is not a warm, fuzzy, funny acerbic, colorful personality driven guy. He's kind of drab. Might be exactly what the country needs. We've got to roll up your sleeves, got to get the job done. The 2024 Presidential Campaign Is Already Heating Up
"Hard to really put into words sometimes that we are still dealing with that we're dealing already with a presidential campaign. We've been dealing with an active presidential campaign ever since really a little bit of a week or so after the last general election in which Donald Trump announced for his candidacy for president since then we've had Nikki Haley with having vivid Robert salami. We've had Tim Scott. He's got an exploratory committee out there. You've got Larry elder or possibly out there running for president. You got, I mean, on the Republican side, you know, there's just a lot of different voices coming out. One of the main voices that have not made it clear yet, but has been has had a rise in the polls and then is now how to drop in the post and if the nephron desantis, the governor of Florida. So it's going to be the Republican Party who's got a lot to shake out. I don't think that is done yet. We're not going to really get into that as far as the who today. I think right now Donald Trump has a commanding lead. He still controls about 35 to 45 or higher percent of the Republican primary voters in, especially red states. If higher in some of those states, even with this with the field, it is out there. So again, something's going to have to take him off track and get voters to say this is not something they want to do again. Whether that'll happen is left to be seen. Right now the challengers to him have not gained traction, Trump is being Trump and he is doing what he does very well that is connecting with people that is putting a narrative out there that is a fighting narrative and he attacks those who are running against him and Ron DeSantis is, you know, I don't know what they're thinking, but if they don't get busy and Ron's either going to run or not run. Republicans Face Tough Choices in Upcoming Presidential Race
"So we have a landscape in which we as Republicans have some interesting choices to make. There's Trump gobbling up an enormous amount of the oxygen and deservedly so. There's desantis. On the periphery right now, might be about to announce that he said he wouldn't say anything until after the floor of the legislature completes until they adjourn and that's, I think, begins the second week of May. So they'll go through the first week of May. So we were still a few weeks away. A couple of weeks, at least from a desantis announcement, if we get one. And then we get to see whether this guy lives up to the hype. He either will or he won't. I have no idea. I do not know how that will go. Neither do you. As such, I don't know. I have a certain curiosity. Some of you all don't. A lot of the folks who are all in for Trump. And by the way, God bless you, if you're all in for Trump, for some reason, fear the choice. Surely it's not, you're not confident in your guy, is it? If Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread, which was plenty of arguments that he is, he should be able to dispatch desantis with relative ease. Shouldn't he? The other fear that's a little weird is that if desantis does walk into the Trump buzzsaw, he will somehow be damaged for life, and he'll never be able to be our president because everyone will remember what happened in 2024 guys. Have you met America? Are you aware of that we have the attention span of a flea? So I ain't worried about that. I don't fear the choice. I don't fear the contest. I am thrilled that you know what now with Larry elders announcement on Tucker Carlson last night. And let me talk about that for a little bit here in a minute too. We have three absolute guaranteed proven fighters who look like, well, we have two now. And that's Trump and elder. And if desantis gets in, we'll have three. Look at that. Three actual proven fighters. In the race. And that's a good thing. It's a good thing for conservatives. It's a good thing for Republicans. It's a good thing for America. Don't fear it. Larry Elder Announces 2024 White House Bid
"It is April of the year before the election. And there is something there's a part of human nature that involves obsessing about the now. Obsessing about this week today this month. Look at this poll number that happened yesterday, surely that'll never change. When the only thing that's guaranteed in life is change. Now, does that mean that there's enough room, enough latitude for desantis to catch Trump? I don't know. That's a formidable lead that Trump has right now. It's the kind of lead that tends not to vanish, but are there so many moving parts in so many variables, and then one that's interesting right here in the Salem family did everybody catch Larry elder, announcing for president last night on Tucker Carlson's show. I did. Larry is a longtime friend of mine. Obviously, was a colleague of mine. I've been in the Salem barn here for about 12 years. And about ten years, excuse me. But it was so noble and so great an attracted so many people and did so much better than a lot of people thought and so much better than a whole lot of other Republicans could have done.
