"The big variant on the back. Yeah and that was also funny when they had the conversation about jetskis it. It reminds moebius what he's fighting for I i forget how he described it but it was pretty funny. That's his inspiration. And we talked about this on the last review vega designed the interior of the tv a what type period. They go to the nineteen eighties. It's so specific of all the different timelines. They have access to what is he fighting for. Nineteen nineties jet skis. Jetskis are pretty awesome. They are pretty cool. I'm very interested in the timekeepers though. I don't trust them. You know what. I really hope. They are giant cgi lizards. I hope they don't just make them regular dudes like they hype them up as these monster. I want them to look like celestial beings that they are in because the way they describe on that they're unwielding the knots of time to determine the future right so it's not like they're writing it. They're just trying to figure it out there trying to map it for everybody else right. Yeah kind of just like china map out everybody's path and sounds like a shitty life to live but if they chose that is the definition of being burdened with glorious purpose. Yeah this guy. Local things taking over new york city is glorious purpose. You got the timekeepers on. We've and time and shit But the the the The back and forth in this episode have been so well written just the vibe of every scene like when moebius is talking to the judge trying to get the okay Just the way. It's shot the classical music and like the interior decoration. It's just the tone of this show has been so tight. It's a weird place in its shot like it is strange foreign place right the weird unfamiliar. Yeah you obviously you know where those sets come from but it is strange. Yeah off and like you said. Those conversations throughout the episode are some of the strongest parts. I think and they all involve owen wilson. Larry bounces off the judge. How advances off loki. How he mounts his off his coworkers. I it really is. He really is just a standout. So far the show for me because you already know how lucky is and how great tom huddleston is is and how great tom huddleston is at playing that character but this is just a welcome surprise and well. He's a character with a strong moral center and he's not phased by all the local news so even though he doesn't agree with a lot of the things that loki will do. He's not so offended by it. And you know. He's not going to hate loki for for backstabbing him. He's anticipating it. He's a very smart character. And like i said he's got the moral center. He knows what he's fighting for whereas loki has absolutely no clue. So that's why. I kind of makes him the perfect pair. Yeah he's that's the thing. Tomlinson has had such great chemistry with every character. He's played off of in the mcu. Now he's getting the chance to lead doing a great job of it and he's got his perfect complimentary player here with moebius you find it odd that it's so earth centric though that's always going to be the emc right always going to be earth They haven't they haven't gone to any other planets touched on rag narok right. And that's the thing with with the variant loki. They're very aware of the other planets in the cosmos. So i wonder if we get more. That moving forward will go to asgard at certain points or different planets within the realms nor caused a lot less than filming an asgard set filming oklahoma or wherever they were at the giants superstar abandoned superstore. Strouss it up at cgi right. Yeah now..

"Even in the total burden in the Larry Larry's bounce off me into where we're all together but it's a man so yes I gotta tell ya I was needing to smile I am looking for a smile and let users let me up thank you capital joining us we're August due on V. O. mo gas line I I gave him I'm gonna let you speak for yourself but your your Instagram story today is you get a lot of reception and positive reception there's a lot of tepid statements out there from leagues and teams and people personally I found what you have to say today to be very comprehensive and and genuine and I I appreciate you and thank you for that man I I appreciate it and again like I I certainly don't have the answers I don't have nearly the amount of information that a lot of the the black players that I've been around have on how the perspective I don't have the experience but I can certainly ask them which I've done and I will continue to do and I'll follow their lead and in this particular case I mean the action steps are are simple for people in leadership positions in baseball and clubhouses that stood to listen you listen carefully and then to speak up right use our voices use our platforms and and say out loud what what so many people are are thinking which is gonna be anti racists it's time to to not accept our racism sexism homophobia any type of discrimination in our sport and in society and I may take this opportunity what what people are listening to speak up you know in in in unfortunately in baseball that that that makes you kind of an out liar that that's a rarity we were talking about this last week I forget the the context or even who we were talking to but you know I I grew up loving baseball because it was passed on to me for my grandparents a group playing baseball and and not that I was going to go anywhere far with it but it got to a point in my baseball development where if you were a little bit to something you you would not necessarily welcome if you were if you were to black or if you were to Latino or if you're too smart or whatever if you were to anything if you work outside of the norm in baseball you you you felt unwelcome and that's a problem in baseball in it because it just shouldn't be that way you know there there there it probably is reason did you shouldn't be that way yeah and and it it could bury bury St position because right yeah it's like the equivalent of you know the the off the off white or you know got very comfortable paint color when you walk into a house you know that's why you people selling homes they they painted this very neutral you know eight because it's an offensive call they feel like they can appeal to a large group and I think that's true in in conversations and decided he does well where you don't you don't stand out you don't do something that makes people uncomfortable if you do you have you have you open yourself up to some degree of ridicule from from somebody no I think the the application of this is when we are in conversation in an office environment and a clubhouse environments we are going to hear racist comments we are only here anti semitic comments we are going to hear homophobic comments we are in here sexist comments and it's a thing to do is just kind of the walk walk by not saying anything not challenge but the one thing that is going to make you stand out expose you little bit make you feel a little bit uncomfortable is to actually get involved in that conversation listening take that person aside and then have an additional a couple conversation would start with something like a tell me why you're using that word and Hey where where did that come from for you what why did that feel why is it so easy for you to say that and see what they say right like those conversations that just don't happen very often because they're all so I think those are the you the steps that we can take the way we can lead by example and and something that absolutely one hundred percent needs to start happening in in sports locker rooms and in and called hockey in baseball Hey take it personally if someone is just an important races in front of you and they do it freely it took me there saying I I feel comfortable saying this because I think come in in similar company I think you feel the same way you know which is a difficult because they're they're they're insinuating that your races and and they're insulted you so if you could allow somebody to speak that way and and such you know such terrible terms I mean they're kind of they're intimated that you're one of them and unless you tell us you're not one of those people right right and I think that the responsibility lies it are saying not okay with me and I think that if you if you challenge most people in in baseball clubhouses they will they will say they were scared to speak up in those situations I can tell you I can own that there have been times when I haven't spoken up and I'm disappointed in myself for those times and I guess the the call to action right now would not let that happen the call to action news you know there there are people who have died George Floyd died at the hands of the police officers and and we we all watched it we all had our reaction to it and there is a movement that's happening in the United States as a result of that and we have this opportunity now to take action and speak up in in a way that we haven't before and it's just too much if it's not already yeah we have to take action right now you know gave you have tremendously diverse staff that you've put together here and I I did read this week that as a as an organization the giants have a zoom call recently to discuss to discuss this a tragedy and trying to promote a healthy environment you know listening to one another and Larry Baer came on came B. R. recently and I think it was like a week ago basically said that the call was extremely powerful I'm just kind of wondering what what will your take away from that and in a lot of people say well there's a lot of people talking but where where where's you know we're gonna see action here what actions do you think you as the as the field boss for this organization can take to make this a better environment going forward yeah and I think that's a great question and and I'll get to that in a moment I just want to touch on that you can call briefly so it was incredibly powerful I had staff members who reached out to me after that call and said that leadership Farrakhan's leadership was exceptional and specifically like farm on got very vulnerable and shared his his only his own disappointments and he like he just opened himself up which leads to many of our black coaches and scouts and other employees opening up in and sharing their stories and we all just sat back and listened and you can imagine in a baseball organization how rare open and honest conversations like those are so far from our leadership to our our our staff our our scouts and our business often poorly everybody did a great job I'm just opening up and making themselves vulnerable at hard rock you got that yeah the kind of action we need immediately which is leadership not just being willing to help those conversations but actively seeking them out then we can do other things like support black owned businesses in in and not just like look for a moment to support those businesses but actively seek them out as partners and and and beat consumers out of their businesses but it doesn't stop there and again I just want to make it very very clear that I don't believe that I have the answers and the action that I can take right now to be intellectually and emotionally chariots and all you ask the question listen and take action based on one year how incumbent L. incumbent is it gonna be for the leaders of the team the white leaders of of the team to tell a black member of the team look if you see something tell us don't think it's going to be a distraction if it becomes a story it won't be a distraction we're here for you because in the athletic article a couple weeks ago I read Torey hunter right Howard to be rolled into the Torrey Hawkins talking about you know they saw stuff but they don't really want to bring it up because you're one of twenty five and you don't want to you want to be a distraction because we're all in this together we're trying to win games and we don't want to do that take away from that but I think those days hopefully they're gone now but it's gonna be incumbent upon the white leaders say look if you see something do it we're there for you don't think of it as a distraction think of it is think of it as moving us forward yeah I I I don't I don't know the answer to that question if it's comment upon white players to do anything but be very cognisant and listening carefully to what our black teammates are things like that the most important thing then taking action steps not necessarily taking a leadership role in that in that scenario I'm glad you know we we feel strongly that that's the right thing to do by a black teammates again let me just reiterate ing and state clearly and strongly we need we need to listen we need a less and and be open and be prepared to to support I think that that the number one thing and Torey hunter by way of example G. wrong somebody that gets to know very well in Philadelphia look for Hawkins was all about discussions while they did a tremendous job of leading in telling us what what they need Tory was my teammate in in nineteen ninety eight an error log Holly any use is what born the same year as I was he he's his birthday just a few days before mine so I consider appear I consider him a friend and and now I considered him a mentor and I think for the White players don't the white leaders with privilege we can look to these black players in the black leaders as mentors right now and elevate them as as such Gabe Kapler yes the big cap was joining us here on the Taubert Krueger and Brooke show too so what baseball related matters now it for you for me gave you are kind of my baseball optimism meter in terms of getting the season started so when you're optimistic even norm read stuff like I don't know if it caves optimistic and I'm almost there with it so be my optimism meter here we've got dueling proposals from both sides I'm not asking you to pick us out or whatever but when it comes to Gabe Kapler seeming limit seemingly limitless optimism and where are you on actually being able to manage your squad yeah I mention I mentioned this last week and I'll and I'll mention it again I think we're we're in the middle of a negotiation and it's a.

"Over time day EH wrong for for so long. So don't be surprised if you don't see him in the not so distant future. 'cause he's on he's on the deal that's amazing But yes so different different Things were for other people and there's no better feeling men and then gain to the weight room pushing some weights around absolutely great feeling Home what am I. What another question? What as he was growing up Who's your favorite baseball player? WHO's you look up to baseball baseball player growing? That's a good question I would say I so I grew up in the glory. what we I'm from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Originally so I grew up in kind of glory age of out of Philadelphia sports icons and I'd say as a two thousand seven. The two thousand ten era of Billy's baby supposed to I really truly looked to Cole Hamels from pitching perspective. The State is the one guy I actually he is. He comes out to work out with us. fairly frequently the last couple of seasons. He's come in and I've only guide to be honest with the only guy in the world that I've ever been starstruck all angles Alvin for that reason. When I was six or seven th grade I was watching him when world series titles to be? I guess a decade removed from that Than swee working out alongside him throwing alongside him it. It still gives me a little bit of chill so a full circle experienced So were you you. Are you still in you fan. I'm a diehard Gov Soi Cowboy. I'm actually I'm actually a Miami Dolphin and we're good here. Well that I do like the giants a lot actually but just because like. I know that I know you're probably not going to agree with this foot. Like he likes like Odell was my dude. I sell Odell in a giants uniform way cooler than hotel grounds. That is so so true. Let me put that out there. I I was no delve. Like from the Star Guy picked him up on waivers that rush got drafted and he was one of the best. Ask Fancy pickups of all times that's where my love modell's stamp like over so he was so cool it's so much swag and like I always really liked the giants family kind of split a little bit dolphins the giants so of course in front of your good but as I said huge college football guy so like it always kind of pisses me off a little bit when these guys get big like. I've known Juju since he was like in high school last year. And he's like blew up on like this. This is so annoying. Absolute been tweeting to this guy. Seventh Grade I have all my sweets like when I was in seventh grade. Pour my heart out of these guys like please for retreat. Or whatever and I talked to Amari Cooper like all these guys right now. It's like everyone knows whatever it's like you knew years ago but exactly it's crazy right. I mean the power of media today asked really credible how fast you can blow up in when you're when you're some of the best of your craft it doesn't take loss exactly what's so guys like. Oh Gallon Jarvis like. I've been watching them for years before their league in them yet. I mean Jarvis me a little bit of bad feelings. DNC left the dolphins. But but I think so. Yeah that's why I I can tell you that I'll wash exa- you can say whatever you want about Odell off the field shenanigans whatever all field. He's SALITA entertainer. I respect myself one hundred percent under present. There's you know Jarvis Landry like yeah. You can't kind of skill. Does she loved me upset. I would a beautiful beautiful throwback Jersey and they played too much later. You're going to sell. It wasn't upset but now the guy like you said they're elite entertainment aparna show each and every week for us they are so so that brings out. My my next question would lead into was favorite all around athlete. Not just strictly to baseball favorite all-round at the album. So I would say this one's Kinda easy for me I would say Tiger Woods and I say that for a deeper reason I loved tigers phone through different different stages of his life and and different stages of his career mentally and physically and I can completely relate to that now being Like a professional professional athlete. Myself When you're a kid everything kinda comes natural to you and you don't think like too many things through and it just you Kinda I just be and do and you don't think and Tigers been through Early success Probably the greatest of all time and then so he's seen astronomical highs and he seen the lowest of lows the lowest depths that maybe any athlete of his caliber has has ever seen in ever will see and I respect a I mean as an athlete I went through a few mental struggles. Myself Roy just make different different changes in my pitching motion and kind of like the consequences that come with that and then kind of having to address them from a mental and physical standpoint. It same thing with tiger. He's gone through three different swing changes and that obviously brutal public divorced worse he was able to obviously last year. We saw the culmination of all that hard work mentally and physically in blocking out negativity and ultimately winning another major way the masters last year so I hold it deep reverence for Tiger Woods. So great other great peck Like you said Larry Bounced back from everything I mean we dealt with that adversity as it was incredible. Absolutely you know like you see. Sometimes I can't. They tend to break out of that weight on their shoulders. They can't break away from that he was able to do that and him when he The massive last year that was it was incredible. Oh absolutely absolutely incredible. holded deep reverend raval to dig themselves out of a hole win and kind of get back to Some to normal life and success so and I'm not even a massive golfing. I mean I was. I was glued to the TV for you. Know everybody in your day. One like he'd real shy and I think he was using. I mean like like right up there as I believe. Everyone was glued like the next day. You're like Tiger Radio frigging do it. ABSOLU- and I think that was the greatest Week of twitter. I just WANNA go on. I think that was the greatest stretch of twitter or instagram. Because at that same point in time game of thrones was just starting their final season. So my my timelines is just full of tiger woods. Winning the Masters and game of thrones means stuff like that so I wanna go on record. That's that's half ten stretch of social media construct to Irish shoes. Like what like one of the most therapeutic things to do is is go the driving range and just whack. Some Golf Ball grabbed my clubs. And just Whacko ed you are not alone. I know myself I know a lot of others like dance in any way I could do it. Man Have you more style traditional. Whatever your lefty Kogo Agos switch and river anything she got? Yeah I mean it it. It helps man it's therapeutic and Ali now to go back to my Spring Training Stores House with the Red Sox on forget one of the nights so Dustin Pedroia going through some injuries struggles right now she was Down on Rehab. When I was spring training and It will big leaguers suggest left out and extended at that point And we me and my roommate was Kinda boarded. The hotel room at the Red Sox hotel like yeah. Let's go hit some golf balls us we get there and who do we see Dustin Pedroia. We just saw silly earlier in the day. He's hitting golf balls at this random public driving range and for ours Florida's uh-huh it just goes to show. I mean he was going through some mental struggles as well as his knee. He was rehabbing at the time. And it's just so therapeutic yet that get out there he even talk to me. I had breakfast with them later. That week he talked to me about how golf is just one of his favourite games and he goes out and plays a sale all the time in him and David price though.

"Hello I'm Christine. Welcome to the Ferry Very Special Review of twenty deny podcasts. It's exciting isn't it. It means you don't have listened to the previous two thousand eighteen revere podcasts Happy Birthday Delay Joke But it is indeed the end of two thousand nineteen Larry Bounce is what is December eighteenth. I'm recording this. Yes December eighteenth when we were recording. This still a couple of days to go in in a year so a couple of films yet to come out but frankly this is our only time slot so here we are and we're going to be looking back over the year that was to do over the next couple of hours. Hopefully our four colleagues of such lethal cunning. Can you believe such a thing. It was a bumper year. Helen O'Hara welcome. Thank you how are you. I'm I'm good. I'm feeling good about this year. Really Yeah is in goodbye year. You were shapes scree film wise you brought me many treats all that's nice good Gidell's Santa Film We're also joined by Bennie boy. All James Dyer is also here. No Gold I'm really tired. I'm really tired and and We spent at least forty five minutes trying to get into the pod booth so yes so that was fun literally true breaking the door down. Yeah we we for anyone to Ocean's eleven started tunnelling under and distracting people with all sorts of subterfuge but Lennox Lewis wasn't available box and having wheeled inside. It's is my banana box. I was going to go in through the vents diehard style and then we just decided to our societies for the code and now on to out and then we had to do three times. We did the different 'cause three studios and they gave me the wrong seat. I I'm here the second time and then third time lucky and literally the only one those left but then final correct just just to just to double down. You're quartering so we finally get the the third time lucky. Finding the code to get in the studio and James Starts Turning the lock the wrong way a third time of asking. You're not jet LAG Georgia's tired you can start you out very late when I was very very late Marvel public isn't GONNA play itself. Oh my God that's only partially true story anyway. That was a very very late very very early. But it's fine you don't want to hear about Mitra vials. You don't WanNa hear what struggles you want to hear about what we thought of the year. Twenty nineteen and we have a whole bunch of listener the questions to get into and to dig into over the course of the The podcast but first of all. Let's turn over the more general terms. What do we make of this year? Cinematic speaking obviously in other areas. It was fantastic for me. Football Team won the league and became argument the best team in the world. Sorry I didn't see two thousand. Nine hundred post cost is a shame. You just don't see years two or deep films lets you want to. Yeah okay so As what are we maybe think this year good to have happy. It was a really good year. For a mix of like massive blockbusters that delivered on a really big scale and also lots of Radi. It was a big year for original projects and for some really strong independent films so really good coming of age movies this year and I love coming of age films so I had a pretty how nobody relate directly to your life. Yes I'm like. ooh This is me. This is me suggest Were you had been nineties. You had book smart. You had eighth grade which I know in in the US but that was that was this year here. Yes We have blinded by the light yes foods of great great coming of age films. It's fantastic Before we get onto everyone everyone else's general reaction to the year. We should talk about the elephants in the room. Right this phrase macos but there are two massive elephants in the room. One Benjamin alluded to with their release dates. Yeah Okay So. This is all based in London were based in UK and I'm quite firm about this guy's The two films were discussing our twenty nineteen films as they came out they were theatrically released in two thousand nineteen in. UK's that means we're discussing stuff that probably came out in the state last year. Things like has Bam already mentioned. Eighth Grade aide were discussing was if beale street could Tocqueville streaky talk although stuff like that comes out in January February On these shores we will also not be discussing things like parasites which shaw or Joe Joe Rabbit which are twenty twenty releases in the UK but our twenty nineteen in the states. We don't like them. It just means they're not here this year. Absolutely if you want to hear this. Go Sam on the review podcast. It will have to be next year. You'RE GONNA have to wait an awful long time but I'm quite militant about this. I have to say I did a tweet about this. The other week on calls quite I to star I've got a few people's backs up. I have to say and I have this. You know they they're going. Well no should matter. It was when you see the film the Councilman No. That's thus issue showing off. Because you have a cushy job like we do and you're showing off. He's all film early at a film festival. But let's people don't have the chance duly so we're sticking to official UK release dates. If you don't like it as my grandmother one said he can bite me date. You can bite date That's what she used to say. Dates are delicious nutrition. She was going downhill fast. At the time none of us knew she was making any sense in fairness. Is that what you get it from..

"Right I mean I don't think many like and the mets are just a train wreck. Clown show like I don't know How's HE GONNA play boy. That's those are fighting words between division rivals twice this weekend. He struck out in both both at bats. I saw one of them and and I'm like how is he going to contribute. He's probably not healthy good if your heart your hurt but he's not going to start. Where are they going to play them over canal career base frazier. McNeil they can't plan so I'm going to say no and after all that time absence due to injury. I just gotTa Stink Yeah. I I need to see like in game want. He's got to do something of a clutch hit to you know gather some interest the ADP numbers by the way to fifty eight for him wrapped it in thirty one percent of leagues now at the time. I collect the data near opening day. Everybody knew he was hurt. So in mid March he was probably going around fifteen. I would say yeah that that's pretty likely. What are you doing say he's. What do you do with a next year like say. The mets these Matt again but he third base. He's thirty six. I'm out. He's he's thirty thirty six. He's got some clues is higher than thirty six. Just like these just WANNA point out the JED Lowrie last season to sixty seven twenty. Three home runs nine. There's no reason why he couldn't if the mets say he's our number five hitter hit. Thirty home runs with baseball. I'm just busting your chops here. You just completely assaulted. They'll I said no. My point is that age is relevant not anywhere near each other in terms of Taliban. Never of I'm not saying they are true so I'm saying if you're just dismissing Jed lowrie next season because he's going to be thirty six years old. That's ridiculous. If if you said to me the jet Larry Bounce Bounce back next year and played almost every day like he did last year and ended up with those numbers. I would say yes somewhat believable. I'm not going to invest see right okay. It's just a guy with this injury and with the past injury history before the two thousand seventeen eighteen an eighteen was just magical. I'm a no on a thirty six year old player with his track track record. Nelson cruises track record is nowhere I mean he was. He was the the model of health during his mid thirties. They're not the same and I believe we've. I know exactly what you're getting at with cruise. I just find it funny when I talk about. The players like that was actually negative. I can't believe you said a negative Nelson Cruz thing. I don't think that was it. Was You know someday when you turn thirty six Chris and you're not gonNA feel so good. Oh my niece empathy for Eh lowry here calf injury that six month the hill. It's a rough year for him. I I did because I I I. I didn't have any shares of IM anywhere but I would have liked to have seen what he would have done. Over five hundred bats you know because see he did play well last two seasons. I like players with plate discipline. He walked one hundred fifty times past few seasons so you know he always loved for forty eight point again this year. Everybody slugging percentage is up fifty points so right. Would you lower hit twenty. Five home runs this year yeah he would have the the metrics for him have always supported. He's got underrated pop and remember. He's played so much of his career and pitching friendly ballparks. I've looked at him for years and always thought there was star potential but then the injuries came so I'm with you I get there. There's something here it's just what do you do with canot no next year. I'm a no no is he draftable. No He's going to get drafted and ESPN leaks the name brand yeah but I mean is the best case scenario..
