"Dot gov slash moving matters. Hi, everyone. I'm Katie correct. I've been covering the abortion debate for the past 40 years. I've always thought there were two sides of the issue. But there you go. See, even in that statement, we have been trained to both sides it. It's not a both sides. That's actress and advocate, busy Phillips. The story of abortion in this country has always been a complicated one, and there's never been a more urgent time to dive into this issue. The pro choice framework assumes that you have choices. This June, I'm bringing you an in depth 6 part series on the history and future of abortion access. It's called abortion, the body politic. I consider my abortion the greatest act of self love that I did. Join me on this journey to understand how we got here and how we can ensure that reproductive rights apply to everyone. Roe V wade was never meant to be the end point. It was meant to be the floor. You can find abortion. The body politic on the iHeartRadio app, or wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes every Thursday. Let's go Justin Fields here who I don't know. We're supporting cast in football. History? Probably, yeah. Yeah. I'm still all the way in on this. My hot take is, I thought Justin Fields is the best rookie quarterback last year. Wow. Yeah. I thought just like in terms of being a guy that looked like maybe he could just put an offense on his shoulders. I thought they were a lot of moments that he had. I think the two games that made me think of it were the Steelers game on Monday Night Football and the late season Vikings game that they had on my too. And it's just like, I felt like I was watching early cam to a degree, not in terms of how physically imposing was, just like, man, there's a lot of good throws on this tapes that aren't getting caught by anyone or, you know, you're kind of stuck in the spot where like, Darnell Mooney is your number one receiver and they're still here. So I thought that Justin field had a really impressive year once he started getting the hang of how fast things move at the NFL level. And they're just like, all right, do it again. How about that? How about you do it again while also learning another new offense with maybe even worse players around you this time? So it's weird because I'm really bullish on this future, but I don't know if it's going to materialize right away. We'll see what happens. But I'm still I'm the leader of the Justin Fields bandwagon I think right now. I'm not the leader of the Justin Fields bandwagon, but I view myself as sort of a an attorney on retainer for the Justin Fields fan club in that I've been very vocal about the fact that he needs to request a trade for, I mean, I wrote this for the first time 6 games into his rookie season. And I wrote it again before I think it was right before Memorial Day and then all of a sudden I got pitchforks from bears Twitter and I'm now public enemy number one. But I mean, as a quarterback, you have to take into account, you have to really believe Ryan polls and Maddie floss. And like, is what they're saying to you, does that make a whole lot of sense that like, yeah, you're our guy. Here's this, you know? And all the bears, fans are saying, well, you know, you know, they're going to rebuild and they're going to rebuild. Quarterbacks don't survive that. Young quarterbacks don't survive these types of roster changeovers. And I was wondering the other day, if you look at their offensive line, theoretically, they're going to run some version of what the packers ran. You know, they got Luke gets you down there to be their offensive coordinator. Do any of those guys have experience running like pure outside zone, which is a specialty set of moves and steps, like are any of these guys outside? I think you could even cut that question short. Do any of these guys have experiences? I've seen Cody whitehair play some go football. What about the other guys? Who's Larry boram? It's four new starters, right? And new start haven't started anywhere. Did I miss did I miss a Lucas Patrick revival at some point? No, I don't think so. I have a buddy who's a bearish man. He's like, well, we drafted all these guys. Dude, there's 6 and 7th round pigs would be talking about. Yeah. I'm just kind of baffled at what the bears did this off season. And I know that they didn't have a lot of pics, but you know, if you're gonna come out here and say, we believe in Justin Fields, we believe in Justin the fields. And honestly, I think he gave you enough on tape last year to justify that thought, why are you spending two first round picks on DBs? Like, yeah, you don't D beats, but that's not the most important thing that you have going on right now. It was just a weird, a weird set of priorities at the bear show this year. I think it's kind of going to screw them in the near future. Maybe the long-term, because that kind of said, it's hard to power through these situations with a young quarterback. And then these teams are liable to just discard you before you even get done. So the bear is like maybe the bears are just like, all right, 20 22 doesn't matter. We're in the game for 2023 when we have our picks back and we have cap space, but still just punting a year of Justin Fields development seems a bit rash to me. I mean, look at what and this is, you know, part of Carson Wentz's problems are obviously on Carson, but when the eagles essentially went to a full on hero ball offense, it really screwed up his development. Like really screwed up his development. Who's to say that that can't happen to Justin? I think he's going to have to, I don't know. I think he's going to have to make some pretty ugly decisions in the pocket, you know, pretty soon in the year. I mean, are they starting a 5th round pick at left tackle at this point? Yeah. I mean, that's the plan, you know? And, you know, I just don't know, man. I mean, statistically, right? So you have a 5th round pick 6 two 6 round picks and a 7th round pick that you drafted this year at offensive line. One or two of those guys are gonna hit. One maybe two are gonna be adequate. Right. Yeah. And then the bears will point to that person and be like, oh yeah, the strategy worked, like you can get good offensive linemen on the cheap, but I don't know. I mean, outside zone when it's not blocked well, is hideous. And I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know. I know. It's gonna be bad. That right now. I know. I've cooked into my crystal ball of failure. Justin feels number one on that list. I just want him to be in Pittsburgh so bad. No. No, no, no. What we need is for him to take again this year, who cares what happens to Mariota and Ritter. And then I can finally get what I wanted, which is I wanted the falcons to take Justin Fields forth last year. But if he's bad again this year and Ryan poles and his little goatee are feeling the heat about what's going to happen for his future, maybe he's like all I need to get my own quarterback. We get Justin feels for a second round pick. And then I have everything. I have Kyle Pitts and Justin Fields. That's what I'm looking for. It's all coming up Charles. Yep. Well, I mean, I deserve something. We'll get to it later, but something. Come on now. Justin Fields is like exhibit a for abolish the draft. When we start and when we, I mean like me and Connor and that's it. Start having this conversation like 2029 about finally getting rid of the draft. We're going to point to Justin Fields. This is why it's not fair. Yep, and Trevor Lawrence. Yeah. Why should I be attached to someone who's out here doing that stuff on camera during the season? I've always argued, like if they did a giant NFL signing day with all the rookies, that would be the TV would be so much better than the draft. Yeah, men all these fans. Oh, well, what if my billionaire doesn't want to pay for

"He's going to take this next step even more and become one of the true like right now he's a top three Top four fantasy quarterback. He's not a top three or four quarterback overall. But maybe by the end of the year. We may consider that I saw a tweet. I believe it was Sam Monsoon from pro football focus which really resonated with me and the essence of the Wheat was Look that roster Ryan Pace had built a good team. And in In Mitchell. Travis Key had to be the icing on the cake and the fact that they whiffed on Mitch when the rest of the team was solid. It's ironic now, if that's the right word to use that Now it looks like you Ryan Pace may have gotten the quarterback right, but the rest of the roster has disintegrated in a lot of ways because of mistakes He's made right and I want to get into I do want to Marcus. We will get into that, like the luxury spending that Ryan Pace has done. But neglected. Some really important parts of the roster is is where I think all of this starts. David and Hammond, you're on ESPN, 1000 and David. Hey, fellas, How you doing? Good question for you. So today, Matt Nagy was in a press conference and when they asked him about Justin Fields, will we see more of him next week? The smart that he had a little laugh that he had. Do you think that that could be? There could be a possibility. We'll see way more Justin next week. I mean, for series. I think you will see more of him. Um Again my approach. This is sooner rather than later and I won't bore you with my prediction again of where he will play. They've got so many other issues to clean up as well. Like He's just one piece to the puzzle. You've got to fight. Larry Boram is out. More than likely. Jason Peters got hurt your down to Elijah Wilkinson as you're starting left tackle. I mean, you're offensive game plan was basically put together in fear of a pass rush last night, so everything's coming out quick. I don't know how you can grow your offense against good teams when you are still fearful of the same issues, so and then you factor in a lack of a pass rush. To go along with the secondary that is is affected by being thin and inadequate at the cornerback position like Again. I believe this team will beat bad teams. It's what they do. But I do believe that they will continue to struggle against good teams, which puts you in NFL help. The problem is they have less bad teams on their schedule is is very good. It looks on surface right now. 3123323776 if you want to weigh in Interesting poll question. I threw out there who was the most to blame for what happened last night? Was it the offense? 13 points? Was it and and Dalton's your starter? Was it? The defense who didn't down anybody? They blew, uh, these big plays and made it easy for them. Miss tackles, No pass rush, Or was it the coaching 3123323776 you're listening.

"The shotgun staff give it to Williams off the right side, gets out of a tackle in the backfield, bounces outside the numbers toward the sideline and finally has put out of bounds by Fuller, who makes a diving attempt to the ankles of Damien Williams. He knocks him out at the 25 to run a three They had a first down for the Bears word from downstairs Larry Boram and ankle injury. He is doubtful to return. So the Bears playing now with their third string tackle, Elijah Wilkinson. In there trying to protect Andy Dalton. There ought to be. I wouldn't be surprised if I see 99 going sliding toward him to see if you can take advantage of the youth. Dalton the shotgun. He's got Montgomery to his left, and Williams do his right. Slot left single man right. Williams goes in, most not to the left. Here's the snap. Dalton fakes The handoff pumps left it in the backfield. Dalton gets away, backing up it again and now will be sacked. Back around the 40 yard lawn. Justyna Hollins wraps him up and drops him. That's a big loss on the play, and as soon as we say it, he goes to the right side. He finds the young players And he gets right to the quarterback. Dad. Aaron Donald was the first guy to hit Andy Dalton. He was able to slip away from him. But then Justin Hollins was there and he finished off Dalton. That's a loss of 15 yards. The defense made a play when they had to second down 25 3 receivers left to the right. Dalton all by his lonesome, the backfield along the near side, right hash lifts his right leg gets the shotgun snap back to pass. He looks he throws left along the hash marks, and it's dropped. Trying to get it to coal Commit who couldn't hang on Kenny Young was there in coverage, and now it'll be 3rd 25 coming up for the bears that was close to being a turnover ball hit his hands, and he almost popped it in the air. Luckily for them to RAM defender dropped it. So 3rd 25 Now bears have converted for their last five on third. Now, we mentioned earlier the struggles they had all year and got off to a slow start tonight. But lately they've been good Montgomery back in there until back. He lines up the Daltons right. Two receivers left one of the right. Dalton gets the snap back to throw. Dalton sets his feet looks throws left side caught by commit at the 35 yard line, gets out of an ankle tackle runs outside the numbers and dives down close to the 30. That's well shy of the first down Darius Williams on the stop Taylor Rapp was there to help its again at 10. They're going to go for it. Matt Nagy is leaving his offense on the field with 10 minutes and 30 seconds to go in the ballgame down by 13. He doesn't want the field goal. He's going to go for it on fourth and long. This is still 4th and 15 yards to go. What he's saying. That is. He doesn't believe his defense is going to stop the offense for the Rams for the rest of the game, so forth and 15 here they need the Rams 15 for a first down golden. The shotgun slot left single man right, Dalton clapping his Hands gets the snap. He's back to pass. Don't has time looks rows deep, right side knocked Out in complete, Robert Roselle was able to get a hand out there and knock it away. The third time the Bears have turned it over on downs. I'm really confused by that play call because they knew they had to get the first down, and they only had three receivers in the Rouse. Now the Rams turn away the Bears again. L A will take over its own 31. We come back 10 on one to go in the game. Rams 27 14. This is Westwood one's coverage of the National Football League. "Rams 13 bears Nothing second down 11 Chicago They've got it at the Rams 13 yard line after the time out, was taken by Sean McVeigh. Rams have one time out left. Larry Boram checked in along the offensive line for the Bears. Taking over for Jason Peters had to tackle spot. Dalton signals over the sideline receivers left single man right here is the snap. Dalton back pressure coming. Don't steps up, moving to his right. He's going to run across the tent cuts back to the five dives down at about the three He's going to be just shy of the first out. It appears Darius Williams with the tackle. It's a run of 13th down and one inside a minute to go here in this first half. Outstanding job by Andy Dalton. Everybody was covered up. He did what he had to scramble slide in don't have to panic. You have great opportunity to score touchdown right here bears all four on third down, we'll give it to Montgomery straight ahead. He's got the first down diving for the goal line. He's in touchdown bears David Montgomery with a three yard touchdown run, and with 34 seconds to go in the first half, Chicago is on the board. Rams on top 13 6 with the extra point coming up. My only question would be did it give too much time, But I don't think they did 2034 seconds left on the clock. Outstanding job by the Bear's having their best field position of the night, moving the ball down the field and a cruel situation and getting that touchdown before half Montgomery getting out of the grasp of Aaron Donald. And surging ahead for that touchdown. So now Cairo Santos is on for the extra point. Try. O Donnell, the punter will hold it. Patrick Scales is the long snapper. He sends it back to O'Donnell. The ball is down to kick from Santos is on the way. It is good. Breaking the action with the score ramps 13 bears seven. You're listening to Sunday Night football off Westwood one. "And Dan joins us on the Corona hotline right now. What's up, Dan Boys, how we doing? Fantastic. Little shunned. I think of dollar. Chris and I do about not getting the invite for the guy's night out on Thursday. What? Really? It's okay. Dad will keep you guys in the in the loop of the excellent. Uh, yeah, It was just crowd were down the street. It got really rowdy. It got really brought it to a bus. Pizza and beers. And then it just got super rowdy back on night court. Yes, Yeah. All right. So what was your biggest takeaway from this weekend? That there really wasn't much to take away. I hate to disappoint the masses on you gotta you gotta call hater. No, This isn't about hating anything. It's just that it's rookie minicamp, and so you get out there. On Friday, and there's a tangible buzz. There's excitement from everybody out there to lay eyes on Justin Fields for the first time, and then about 45 minutes in the practice, you realize Oh, yes, rookie minicamp with 33 players and the things that they are. Focused on this weekend. They're very, very minor. It's not even like a test drive. It's like the first time you went out with your dad. So like the high school parking lot of the cemetery to drive around, right, you just go in 10 Miles an hour. It's basically Much Justin retain from the playbook and bring out here to the field and execute and it was so very surface level in basic that there wasn't a lot to see. I will say physically being Justine, Fielding up close. You see how dirty he is. You see the ball come off his right hand with zip it that it has. There are things there that with your eyes up close, you say Yeah, I see. I see what everyone likes. Here. But in terms of actual action on the field that was so minimal on Friday and Saturday that there's not a lot to report yet, Dan. What is the learning curve from your perspective with regard to the system? He was running? At Ohio State and the procedure that they went through to run That offense versus just what he'll be asked to do it the next level with huddles and cadence and all that other stuff. Yeah. So you bring up those two things, and those were two of the things that they were focused on this weekend, Right? It's how much command can you have in the huddle? With by the way all guys who are essentially rookies or first year players. So you're not having to call a play for an eight year veteran right in there, and it's a different environment in regards to that. What is your cage and fly to the line of scrimmage? You know, Matt and John D Flip. We'll talk a lot about the first wide vision, which is when you break the huddle. And you, you approach the line of scrimmage and you're diagnosing everything to your left to your right. The play clock. You know the motions, the shift everything that goes into it. How did that look? So it's all this very technical stuff here. They were focused on on the first weekend of practices with Justin Field. Here's the good news. He comes from a system in Ohio State that ran a lot of pro concepts and the one thing that you hear from a lot of people that spent time with Justin Fields at Ohio State. You know, even going back to high school that is athletically gifted as he is, and he could have dominated James as an athlete alone. He has been so dialed in for years now. At polishing himself as a pocket passer, right and so being able to come from a system in Ohio State that that challenged him with pro concepts with a guy like Ryan Day, who's Who's been in the NFL and knows what it takes. At that level to be successful the quarterback and have a quarterback like field who's so dialed in. I'm making sure he knows all the fundamentals that are needed to be a sound and consistent pocket passer. You've got a good head start on things, and that's what I can tell you in the middle of May of 2021. Now it's upto Matt and flipped and laser and everybody else did develop him as quickly as possible. So that the outside world's excitement can actually turn into something that excites people on Sunday, Danna I know it was just the rookie minicamp, and there wasn't a ton to take away. I remember watching Tommy Harris in his first bears many camps, So this is with veterans, so it was going up against some offensive lineman. You just saw how quick he was when that ball was snapped, and how quickly could get around. The blocker. It just You just saw it. You could tell that this guy's a football player. Were there any moments like that with with field this weekend where you're like, Yeah, that looks the part. Well again. It's his size, right in 63 to 30 that position. You see it and you go, OK, you know, and I wrote my column in my, you know, just sort of setting the The tone from the weekend that even when he's just doing sort of the Prix, practice, jogging and warming up, he's got a purpose about him right And he's so he's got this presents multiple, physically and with the way he's working, that you can tell immediately, is contagious to the guys around and you heard it from some of his teammates over the weekend. Larry Boram Dad's Newsome said. You look like we're learning. Very quickly with this member of our draft class that he's all business, and he wants to get work done. And because he wants to get worked on, it sets the tone for the guys around him. Those are things that you can take away from, you know, the first weekend. Of Justin Field is existence in a orange number one jersey. Yeah, wait till you see him just kind of on the move as well. Like he runs a legit for four. I mean, like a tooth 63 and 2 20 like when he decides to tuck and go. I mean, not only can he go He could run your ass over his well well, And so I'll tell you this as well, because the one thing that I was looking forward to seeing that I didn't get to see was high volume of deep balls. Right? The more you go through his college film, you go home. God, you know these deep balls are not only accurate. But a lot of these are they've got some zip on him. There's a fearlessness about him. And I know the bears coaching staff is absolutely and just thrilled and enthralled to be able to use all that going forward. The fact that that he is Your listen throwing it. The fact that he can throw it with success is gonna open up this offense in so many different ways. They did very little vertical passing over the weekend. And so you're like, God, we gotta wait another week and a half, two weeks now. To see that again, and I'm really eager to see it because I know the Bears are very confident that that's going to unlock the parts of their offense. But the last two years we were all going dark money that Darnell Moonies, They're excited about this as well. And when I think you know what Dan and silly the one thing that I think we've all overlooked a little bit. They added some speed recently marquees Goodwin is, you know, is a speed receiver that played most recently. I believe of the 40 Niners. They signed the kid Bird. I think they had a good year last year from the Patriots. I think the biggest adjustment on the field that Justin Fields may have Dan is because he was such an accurate deep ball thrower. Is learning in the NFL. Sometimes you take the take the lamps and you don't always have to hit the home run. You don't have to read the field and hold it forever to hit that home run because sometimes they'll take it away. Sometimes go into the flat isn't isn't a bad option. No doubt, but also sometimes and this is the other side of that coin. That's very exciting. Sometimes it's nice to have a 55 yard touchdown, right? And you guys better when David Montgomery busted out that 80 yard touchdown run Against the Texans last year..
