"On flights last Wednesday. The FAA says there is no evidence of a cyberattack, it blames a damaged database file. There were more than 10,000 delayed or canceled flights across the country in the middle of the week. Michael laris, transportation reported for The Washington Post, joined WTO's Dimitri sodas to talk about the full stoppage, which we hadn't seen since 9 11. Yeah, this notam system is a way for pilots to learn if there's something, some sort of late breaking change that could affect their flight. So this is crucial information that they need and there were problems with this system with the notices actually going out actually reaching the airplanes according to secretary Buttigieg. And that really just sort of injected a bit of uncertainty to the whole system and what officials said was that out of an abundance of caution they shut down the ability to take off to deal with that. Now, of course, people remember it's not exactly ancient history. Christmas and new year's week, there was the bad weather followed by the Southwest Airlines computer problems. So really just so many disruptions in people's plans. Do you think this is going to fully get the attention of Congress and could lead to an investigation, maybe a cut in funding or some other change? It's coming up to the time when FAA funding gets settled for the next several years and Paris congressional officials have said that they're really going to press hard on what happened here, but also what happened in southwest and then what needs to be done to make sure that the system is safe and efficient. So they've said that they're going to use this as a jumping off point secretary Buttigieg has also said it comes at a prime time and it's going to after they figure out exactly what went wrong exactly what the root cause was. It would give them an opportunity to address issues if they're there. Michael laris transportation reporter for The Washington Post. "The FAA says tonight that a damaged database file is to blame, the administration says there is no evidence of a cyberattack. It is now not only trying to patch things up, but also to prevent such a thing from happening again. At last count there have been more than 10,000 delayed or canceled flights across the USA Today. Hundreds of them affecting flyers traveling through our three major airports. Let's take you live tonight to Michael laris. He's transportation reporter for The Washington Post, so good of you to take a few minutes to be with us, Michael. You're reporting this stoppage was the first of its kind since 9 11. Can we talk about the impact this has had and really is still having even as people try to get a flight tonight maybe. Yeah, I mean, I think it's shaking people coming after the big problems that happen before and after Christmas, the airlines say that they're working through the problems that started with the FAA. Today, the transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg said that those are going to continue to ripple through the system today exactly what's going to happen tomorrow is still remains to be seen. Can you talk about what system exactly failed to the best of the description from the feds and why did it lead to what it led to, which was this big mess in the air and on the ground today? Yeah, this notam system is a way for pilots to learn if there's something, some sort of late breaking change that could affect their flight. So this is crucial information that they need and there were problems with this system with the notices actually going out and actually reaching the airplanes according to secretary Buttigieg. So really just so many disruptions in people's plans. Do you think this is going to fully get the attention of Congress and could lead to an investigation? Maybe a cut in funding or some other change? You know, it's coming up to the time when FAA funding gets gets settled for the next several years and various congressional officials have said that they're really going to press hard on what happened here, but also what happened in southwest and then what needs to be done to make sure that the system is safe and efficient. So they've said that they're going to use this as a jumping off point secretary Buttigieg has also said, hey, it comes at a prime time and it's going to sort of at least after they figure out exactly what went wrong exactly what the root cause was. It would give them an opportunity to address issues if they're there and finally as best as we can tell may not be clear at this hour. If you've got a flight tomorrow or in the middle of the day tomorrow, are we, can we expect to get back to normal? Was it simply too early to tell that? You know what? We've been asking airlines that same question and the answers were pretty vague. I think people are going to have to just take it, talk to their own airline and figure it out. We've been trying to get some sort of general sense from all the different airlines and it wasn't there was no one answer is the answer to your question. Right. No one answer giving us the one answer that you just have to be super aware and keep checking that app and be patient, of course. That goes without saying, Michael, thank you. Good to talk to you. You too. Michael leris is transportation reporter for The Washington Post. We know this much the FAA is talking about some kind of glitch in its database a corrupted file that led to first a ground stop and then this long series of delays and cancellations in the air. Stay with WTO, we will keep you up to date here. We're checking on the capitals and wizards, both in action tonight. That is next. When you wake up to go to work, do you ever think about

"Here's slurry than Evans. Mike Mike Mike, what day is it, Mike? Yes, it is and here it is. We've been waiting for this. The start of Broncos training camp, the start. Of the Russell Wilson era, the start. Of the Nathaniel Hackett era May they long reign. Good morning, Mark schlereth. Good morning, Michael. How are you buddy? Let's get right to this. Folks, if you need any more evidence that it's march laris world and we're simply just living in it, I don't know what you're talking about. Oh man, so yesterday. All right, please. Please enlighten me. You'll soon know where I'm going here, so yesterday the Broncos had their media barbecue introductory, welcome to training camp, and they have some press conferences. George Payton talked to Nathaniel Hackett, courtland Sutton, Justin Simmons. So the first two to talk with Nathaniel Hackett and George Payton. And there's probably about, I don't know, there's probably about a hundred media types there waiting for this thing to start. All right. Patrick smythe, the outstanding media guru over there at UCL training center comes walking in with Hackett and Peyton and he's getting ready to lead him towards the press conference table. Then Payton Hackett lock eyes. Lock eyes with the steely eyed glint of a Marx. Pretty soon. Steak. Coach. George. They're hugging it out. Hugs for Peyton. Hugs for Hackett. And all the while, they're smites just kind of standing there impatiently. Got his arm out like he's ready to grab Hackett by the arm, but he can't grab it by the arm because he's in the marshmallow embrace. Yes. Right? So, you know, you make papa bear give him a hug. Everybody's waiting for this thing to start, but we gotta wait for Mark slurry to establish his pure media dominance. That's right. With his one on one conversations and hug fest with George Payton and the Hackett, then this ladies and gentlemen, the great Mark. Then the immortal line of all lines. Mark breaks off the hug and says, hey, guys, I got a roll. Yeah. Like, hey, listen, I know you would like to continue to talk to me all day. But I got a role. Right. I did. And you walk away. I had some stuff to go to. Never mind the fact that a hundred people are waiting on paid in Hackett. Mark's the one that breaks off by saying, hey, guys. I know, I know we could do this all day, but I got a role. When I heard you say I got a role, I busted a gut laughing. Well, you're welcome. I just thought that was funny. The whole world is waiting on Hackett and Peyton and you're the one that breaks it off by saying, hey, guys, listen. I got a role. I was busy. I got some man one on one stuff to do. I can't be bothered with your press conference. Oh my God, I thought that was something. The only thing I came to do, I didn't come to eat. I came to pick up my credential. I said hi to a few people that I hadn't seen in a while. And then I was about ready to walk out and know they come and so it was like you said, little hug fast, you know that was to the rest of the, that was me being a big bear market is territory. That's right. I just went over and scratched on the tree, took a leak on it, let you guys know, hey, my territory. And then I left. What you did to the rest of the media yesterday was basically the equivalent of a dog taking a poop, and then using his hind legs to just cover it up. With dirt and grass. Yeah. That's right. And believe me, people noticed. Look, it's Larry. What did you do? No, no, they weren't they weren't like upset, but it was just like, man, look at that guy. That guy. Boy, if Tyler was there. But you know what? If Tyler Columbus was there, that would have been so God, he had just been burning red, which he always wanted to be like more. Before I saw him, the Mac asked me if I was going to stick around for the press conference. And I said to D back in classic fashion, no, if I need information, I'll just text him. Josh Allen. Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought that was classic you. I just sitting there going, oh. That is so Mark. Right. Yes. Seriously, it was like, listen, guys, I love to stay. I would love to stay and continue to chop it up with you, but I got a role. Yeah, I said blessing, Mike. Thank you. Thank you, George. Thank you. So I just gave them the papal blessing. And then I said, go, and send no more. And I left. That was funny. Hey, listen. You got the chance to flax flex a little bit. It was good. In all honest, it wasn't trying to flex. It was just the way I offer. The way you roll. Just until you got a role. And then you got to roll. So yeah, yesterday was the how was the press conference, by the way? You know what the press conference was? What was it? It was a reminder that everything is awesome. Yeah. Well, when I was talking to Hackett, one on one, unlike you guys. Unlike the rest of the media, when I had the one on one combo with him, he's so excited. He's so excited. He's so excited. So optimistic. He is so everything is awesome. He is so excited and honestly, man. How can you not be excited for him? Of course. I mean, the guy grew up as a ball boy, the guy grew up in the NFL. He was there. You know, his dad was an offensive coordinator. He's been doing this, you know, his whole life, essentially. So good for him, man. Getting this opportunity, he's excited about it. It'll be fun. It's going to be fun to watch. I am determined to make this your earworm song of the day. Everything is awesome. Yeah. No matter what you hear or see everything is upbeat. Everything is energetic. "Step through the archway of whoopee cushions to enter the museum. Okay you call whoopie cushions. I know i'm just being cranky and here we are looking at all this stuff. It's like a proper museum with displays. You've got salt shakers. Oh yes the old. Put sugar in the salt shaker. Prank makes your hot cheapies purity disgusting toilet with cling. Wrap on it off a terribly nasty prank. If you use the toilet dodd. Say the cling wrap. Why would no they'd be we everywhere exactly. All that just seems kind of main. Doesn't it to make a huge gross mess like that even if it's a sort of funny idea. Imagine the people who get pranked having to clean themselves up and they'd probably be really embarrassed and upset oh completely and that's the trouble with pranks there's a really fun line between funny and humiliating of silly and messy like when i put your pencil case little. That wasn't a brag. Doesn't count cal. Take a look at this exhibit over here okay. So it's just a few magnets and a pair of pants. What is this. It's a historical case. Study of a prank cold. No pets no problems. No pants no problem. Who tell me all about it. Well there once was a boy named angus. hi i'm angus and his friend rosetta. Who's a pit of a prankster. Yup that's me. Zena the prankster. One morning rosetta. So's magnets into the belt. Loops of angus pants sewing magnets into belt loops. What could resume to be up to. I can't wait this is gonna be ho- laris angus puts on his pants not realizing what rosetta has done. Just a normal day throwing my normal pants angus. I am worried about you. Time to get out into the sun shine angus goes to the park for a morning stroll the so many magpies out today and puppies are cute. There are lots of people around. Some of his friends are even playing a game of footy nearby. But little does he know he is strolling a right in rosa's trap for rosetta has hidden opposing. Magnets in the grass right where angus is walking. No wait a second. But he has magnets in his belt. Loops that means. No no no no. No the magnets pull the pants to the ground and agassi's pads full straight down leaving him absolutely pets in the middle of the pot. This song vast. Why did you do that. Come on and is there was a jerk and why everyone law what's worse. He's wearing his favorite pair of grandpa's little angel underway for all to see and that was the classic prank. No pants no problems. I mean it sounds like there was one pretty big problem angus. His pants fell down in the middle of a public place. Oh yeah. I guess was super embarrassed. There was absolutely wicked of rosetta. And i don't mean wicked in the way my friend english williams says thus wicked in it but anyway this prank is two main. Yeah everyone has a different opinion on this prank. That's why it's so good to check in with the brain. Trust and see what they think of no pants no problems on my gosh staffy so embarrassing sushi underwear will if someone does me. I'd honestly probably a grudge for a long time. 'cause vastly i always have this motive to fit in and not to be embarrassed panting. Someone prop lease like. I've never had it probably gonna be. I know people who have it must be embarrassing pretending like going like that and then the person like jumps or like gods themselves is funny but not actually like actually doing it is not so funny because it leaves them with a very embarrassed day. There's a difference someone lost with you at you. You could feel real embarrassed abuse laughing at you or could laugh with them. So it's kind of like being a bully if you ask me like people like people love if someone shunt really hard feel. It's a bit like that Especially if it's in public. If it's like imprvement i'd probably still be annoyed but probably not as annoy So no funding games. Yeah well that's why. I hired an ethicist to walk around and give thoughts on the pranks. Is it met be it. I i think we both know him pretty well. He's probably mo- my friend than yours are. Okay it's okay. There's enough of me to go around thaw. There's an old saying about art. That beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It basically means that. There's no one person who gets to decide. What kind of art is beautiful. And what isn't it depends on the person who's looking at it. And you know what. I think we can say the same thing about pranks. Well i mean pranks are an art form after all Especially the old pencil case. Aroo one pencil case one disc one man willing to risk it all night. Cal continue matt. Okay well whether something is a good prank phone on depends on how the person who's being pranked feels about it if they going to enjoy it at the end of it all then. It's a good prank. But if they're not then it feels less like a fun prank and more like a bullying prank. Something that leaves the person feeling isolated and upset. So it's really up to angus to decide whether no pants. No problems was a good prank. Oh not basically this. This idea that philosophers call moral lock. Sometimes whether we've done something good or bad is out of our control. Imagine if i took all your money and used it to buy lottery tickets. Did i do something good or bad bad. That's my money and you've wasted it. Okay but.

"You don't wanna be when anyone and couldn't help. It was just somebody that i wanted to be with. But i do. I do agree with you. Think there's some value in that in that pursuit. Here's the other part of it too. We're constantly being told especially young. Men are constantly being told. That being married sucks it's boring. Oh you got kids. life is over. We're sold that message on top of it then on the other end of it. Is this plethora of availability through all these apps and stuff and you can go on apps and see people who just want to have sex. And so i. I think all of these factors playing the to saying what what are the statistics on People staying together find each other through these dating apps. It isn't it isn't getting better. Isn't that part of why it's had so much. Success is the people that actually use these apps. And that's a good question. I believe i mean. I think you're right because you've got to think there's there's some argue i think either case. That would actually be good right less people. Maybe less people are getting married but the ones that do more of them. That's what i would think. Is it you you get to filter out so much more man. I mean there's probably a lot of relationships looking back now. That if i had to have had met him through a dating app and actually had their profiles. Like oh look. She was bipolar. And they're not going to put their their profile you. If i could have out a lot earlier you know what i'm saying. I mean wasted six months to figure it out. You're and you're right actually more likely to stay together see. Yeah that's that's a great observation. I would agree with that. That's interesting very interesting. Yeah but they're not going. Put that their bipolar on. Unless it's bipolar people trying to find other dating apps you cheat a carbon floor. Check your chris crazy. Love dot com. Have you guys. did you guys know that. There's dating apps for people with std's so they meet they meet up for people with the same std. Yeah i it's it's smart. That sorta helps right out the okay. Yeah i don't know. I just feel like we're getting so good now mind you. I'm i've never used one of these apps in my life before. So i don't i don't know what it's like to be someone going through that but i would imagine that it's making the process easier to get to figure to figuring out what it is that you really want and you can filter that at a much higher rate though where we have to take that more of at chance back when we were dating. You meet somebody. And let's hope. I guessed right on this rise. Yeah you know so. I don't know i. I think that i rejection stings more when it's Like online it's like. Oh you know i just slight left or whatever it is now i mean the truth is i. I don't think that i would ever let's say things didn't work out with katrina and i or whatever like that and i was all on the market at forty something years old right. I still don't think that i would use a dating app. I still. I think it would just prefer to do with the old school way. So even though. I'd like the old school way like order bride. Speaking of surprise i watched a movie yesterday. That was surprisingly amazing. So remember the original suicide squad when that came out The it wasn't that good right. Did you guys like the originals. It wasn't that good. The new the new suicide squad. H- laris really dwell may different castes. Saint people different cast. It's a different spin and you can john. Cnn not one. yes and the way the. It's the way that they did it. They did it such a good job..

And of course when my friend hurts out of sympathy. Then i start hurting and i'm convinced that a hernia surgery has gone bad and is not working or i'm having a reoccurrence haven't how many how long has it been since i've had hernia surgery. Fifteen sixteen weeks and it would still. It should still hurt. I don't know. But i and then i convinced myself that the surgeon is really a far left like bernie sanders supporter and he just wanted to do some damage when he got in there and not really do it right. It is just kind of. How long is my groin going to ache. And no one wants to have an achey groin. You wonder why i'm cranky. That's.

"You should never start a limerick. You don't finish folks i apologize. I did that last week. We were talking about. Fred king They're not a ton of rules on this podcast. But it's still family friendly and so chuck. You're going to have to decide. Because i'm not going to bleep myself. But you're gonna have to bleep out the the offending word. Yeah i'll do it. The lear know what makes us limerick funny kind of like a shaggy dog. You know what this is. Kind of a shaggy limerick. It's kind of a shaggy limerick. And i and i think you'll understand why As told to me by fred king originally in a crowded restaurant okay. This is a filthy limerick but he told it in a crowded restaurant. And that's what makes it so funny. Okay goes like this. There once was a man from saint cloud who liked to say in a crowd. He pulled them in near whisper in their ear. Not soft like this but really loud when he screamed but real loud and one hundred heads snapped around in the restaurant. The beer flew out of my mouth. Once again and fred kings legendary status rose yet another click. Oh my gosh isn't just awful okay One one last thing you know. We played sean mcchord song last week and i got a text today from one john magor this morning and he said ho- laris and ever so slightly humiliating. I listened with charlotte. Who loved it too now..
