Tudor Dixon: Press Corp Fails to Fact-Check Gretchen Whitmer
"You know she's very deceptive tutor Gretchen Whitmer I watch your debate you did a fantastic job you are not some career politician You did amazing She just lied though At one point she rather condescendingly turned to the camera then suggested that kids in Michigan were only out of school for three months Well tutor that's just simply a lie How the fact checkers weren't all over that I mean the evidence was everywhere Lansing Detroit schools were closed for three and four times that length She's the one that did this She did nothing to fight to keep kids back in school Nothing at all And we have such a miserable press corps in the state of Michigan They won't even fact check this It's so ridiculous but it did honestly people across the state went you've got to be kidding me And I think what the way you said it is so right because she stood up there and she smirked and out of the side of her mouth She said our schools were closed for three months And people have come to me and said how could you possibly look in the camera and say that to people who have had the kind of scores that we've had come back recently Michigan is in the bottom ten for education in the nation We've dropped several points We have had we just got the nape test back and it said that our fourth and 8th graders are so far behind that in some cases they believe that we've lost three decades of reading progress in the state of Michigan And the bizarre thing is you have these little activist journalists that don't understand what that means I had this woman say to me you know you really hung up on third grade reading And I said yeah pretty much And she goes don't you think there are just some third graders that aren't going to learn to read and I said which one

"All got started in Lansing I mean what opened your mind up to this need and then let's talk about ways that people can experience this Oh boy where to start So it's been a long 5 year journey that we've been working on this and it started a very innocently with the Wharton center for performing arts which is a facility here and Michigan state university's campus that offers all the touring Broadway shows wonderful national level performances For instance we're hosting in early April Hamilton so lots of top marquee type of things Well they have the opportunity to partner with Broadway Disney to do a 100% sensory friendly performance of Disney's The Lion King And so they wanted to do that And we had a year to prepare for that And so what that means is that performance was that there were all accommodations made to make it something that people could enjoy without the stigma of things that maybe were out of their control that a bright lights were an issue or loud noises or they needed a tablet or an iPad to enjoy the performance just as a comfort piece And so all of those accommodations were allowed in maid for this performance but we thought you know if we do this and have such a big presence with the event how about we take in broaden that throughout the entire community So what else could we do that would make our community welcoming to come back to or to partner with that one time event and really be able to welcome everyone to our community So we took the information from that partnership and then just started to spread it throughout the community So we have 14 attractions that now are able to offer some sort of sensory friendly programming either on a monthly basis or a special opportunity basis So that these are things that are happening year round here in the greater Lansing area And so a leader with us has been our zoo Potter park zoo has been the first sensory friendly designated zoo in the state They've gone through many different levels of training and when we've worked as a community to train our frontline staff so we've trained about 1400 people to just be able to understand the needs of guests coming in that might be on the spectrum have other neurodiverse issues that need different accommodations than that we need to understand what that means that if there is a quiet place that's needed or we need to provide more information that we know how to do that So that's where we were on such a trajectory forward and then of course the pandemic took a bit of a hold on all of us So we're really proud that we've been able to relaunch almost all of the programs that we had in place before and continue now the training and really move this forward to all accessibility and in the meantime over these 5 years when you look at children being diagnosed according to the.

"24 at O'Hare 25 at midway it's 23 out of 23 as well in Lansing Some flurries being reported actually up in Waukegan where it is 23° I'm James Sears on Chicago's very own 7 20 WGN Blue manfredini are mister fixit has heard Saturdays on WGN you still got the same time slot over there Lou I am still 6 to ten So really what happened is bob Surat and I was he said well Lou has 6 to ten that's what I wanted He wanted to be and in fact called bob Surat tomorrow and ask him what to do when you're changing out of toilet and he'll be happy to take your call Right Hey by the way I do have a question Can I ask you a fix a question Sure Absolutely My bathroom sinks Rainer rolls slow and I've been pouring stuff down there Nothing seems to be happening Should I get a snake and put it down the hole or should I turn off should I unscrew that pipe that gooseneck pipe underneath the sink and rout it out from there Before you do any of that there is if it's draining slowly and is this in the older home that you're living in now Yeah Okay So there is a product that I really like called insta flow And it comes in a bottle and it's actually a dry chip It's a dry material You're gonna take the pop up out of the sink and then you're gonna boil some water You're gonna pour you're gonna pour some of these chips over the drain until it creates like a pile And then you're gonna pour boiling water over the top of these chips until they dissolve It's gonna give out a pungent odor so don't put your nose over the top of it Wait 90 seconds and then pour the remaining boiling water It is unbelievably effective at munching up some of the gunk and whatnot that's going on Chances are in an older home the leak is not in the trap It's in the wall but as long as it's running slowly this will probably work That is amazing and you call that what do you call that Insta flow and it comes in a bottle that kind of resembles a large vitamin bottle I got a question for you pizza hey we've got to take our break Let's do that and then give me some other tips on what to do about the ice Give me some product names and descriptions of the chemical compounds okay We get to continue here So let's just keep rolling Are you ready Sure Okay give me the poop on that now So there's a bunch of products out there that you can buy And you'll get super confused by all of this Of course rock salt is the least expensive that you can use and it's probably the most abrasive on any of the surfaces that you would put it on there So I know a lot of people that use rock salt and they're really happy with it But it does the most damage to the lawn and the garden and then surfaces on top of it I'm not anti rock salt but if you're gonna leave it on there and you notice piles of it make sure you broom it away when you get a chance because that's where you'll really do a lot of damage Let me ask you this Is that if you've got cracks in your sidewalk or wherever that's sitting Is that going to exacerbate that Not as much as the ice would so I'm a big proponent of using ice melt from a safety perspective What people should be using in a cost a little bit more as you can buy these blends of calcium chloride and potassium chloride And then there's all these products that say they're safer for pets And a lot of people use that But what I don't want people to get the false sense that oh I can use this I don't have to worry about my pet It is still the same compound makeup They put some buffers on there and so anybody that has a dog If you let them outside one of the tips is to keep a damp rag by the door as well as a dry rag And when they come in use the damp rag to wipe off their pads and then the dry ones so they don't get wet feet all over your home But the thing that I really want people to start using which I think makes a lot of sense is now for the past probably 7 or 8 years maybe ten years There's a product that's called liquid calcium chloride And it comes in both gallon and 5 gallon jugs It is exactly what it said It's a liquid You put it in a pump sprayer The one thing that has happened with technology now is we know exactly what the new weather is going to be right If they tell us it's going to snow 8 inches it usually does I mean maybe not 8 but it's gonna snow This stuff you go out pre storm and you spray the sidewalk or the driveway And what will happen is this will put a nice layer over the top of that And when the snow hits if it's light enough it'll just evaporate You won't even see it Heavier snow will make your life so much easier when you go to shovel The beauty part about the sprain is you can pinpoint control it so you don't get it all over the lawn Keep in mind potassium chloride calcium clarity is still not good for your lawn They're just slightly better than rock salt Liquid calcium chlorides your first choice the calcium chloride potassium chloride mix pellets like a pellets maybe would be the second and the third choice the one you like the leash but you don't hate it as rocks No Correct And the other thing too is we don't need a ton of this okay It is I don't I mean I don't salt my food but if I was gonna do just a little bit you know like a little on your hand Don't go crazy I don't need a giant layer of this stuff plus the fact that it'll cost you less money just a nice even dusting of the product across the areas that you're concerned with pay very close attention to steps This is where we get falls and trips and whatnot And so you really really have to be careful with that stuff And the nice thing about the pretreatment is after you do it a couple times there's residual value on the liquid stuff and so you may notice that wow I'm not getting any ice build up whatsoever That's because there's a nice layer that's been absorbed into the concrete and it continues to work And you'll use.

Was the Government in on Creating the Illusion of January 6?
"Talking to Julie Kelly Julie, your book is January 6th. And you're laying out some facts here. And what is your conclusion based? I mean, you've looked into this a lot. But as your conclusion, roughly what mine is, as I listen to you, that the fix was in, that people like Nancy Pelosi. I mean, this is chilling that the Speaker of the House of Representatives was in on wanting to create an incident that would give them political leverage against their enemies. Can this be happening in America? Is this possible? It is a hard reality to confront that the people in power are that evil. Are that a moral? Are that desperate for revenge against their political opponents, including millions of Americans, that they're capable of doing such a thing? And it's been a tough reality to confront through my reporting over the past year, but Eric, when I listen to these line prosecutors, what they say in charging documents, the accusations that they make against American citizens. When I listen to federal judges, berate Americans for parading in the capitol, accusing them of trying to overthrow the government, sentencing them to 30, 60, 90 days in prison, people with no criminal record just for walking in and out of the capitol for ten minutes where they thought they had been permitted. When I take in what I hear and what I read, I do believe that that is exactly what this government did on January 6th. It was months in advance. You only have to go back to some of the lockdown rallies for instance in Lansing Michigan in April of 2020 that created a lot of the same optics a lot of the same news coverage. I considered a dress rehearsal for January 6th. So this is not far fetched conspiracy theorist thinking. This

Can here annoyed schizophrenia. jan for those that. Don't know schizophrenics the the way 'cause like graham hancock and a lot of these other pseudo historical people talk about consciousness and whatnot. Rooms name told me about the trip. Because at the time i was kind of a fucking in was kind of going crazy and this was a lot younger and i was kind of mentally unstable and angry all the time and that was worm and that the red is do with like fucking dark entity or like evil energy in shape but there's all sorts of different interpretations of it. Yeah so strange lights during the northeast blackout of nineteen. Sixty five was driving to deliver candles to a friend to a friend's house to a friend whose house had also been swallowed up by the rolling darkness that swept through the neighborhoods en route via flint. Street still notice a bright light overhead. She saw the same going object that visitor that visited her for years before this time however was traveling through the telephone poles along the highway. She was driving down. That's for her chair. And confusion was temporarily hijacked by strange dark car that seemed to suddenly appear on the highway. The black car was a few feet ahead of stellar and appeared to be driven by the light cars and rolled off the highway down a hill to a standstill drove past it. "Yeah it's really funny. Because i feel like no one in my family knew like they were unreasonably shocked when i came out even though like i was always sort of like kind of the boy of family not necessarily aesthetically per se but sort of like if a guy was mean to my little sister like i will go beat him up like my dad would be like okay. You know what to do but they were so shocked. But then i feel like there were like people like friends who i probably told things to who i would not have told my family who were like. Oh yeah no. That's totally tracks for you. Kind of thing. I had someone trying to tell me. I was get one point. Like wow isn't a relationship with a dude. He was like your boyfriend gave away and you are to exactly say like that. But he heavily hinted it and i got so upset was like okay. Maybe i'm wrong. Never how do you react my parents. I'm not kidding us to ask me growing up. If i was gay point blake to my face. My dad would be like melody. Are you gay. Like because i hated man. I was like getting in fights a lot. Seat me to widen. My dad asked me if i was gay. Just such a more him probably problematically like judging my character as a lesbian. Not that i'm showing interest in women but just like all signs of your personality point to gay rights. Are you the way he was asking you. I'm sure like if someone asks you in that way but people asked me but if they ask it with the subtext of are you fucking weird like of course they're going gonna say no because i've weird but not like weird the way you're thinking i'm weird like would i make out with a girl chasma. Sure like but that doesn't mean weird like is it in your head. I think if people use a different in town they might get the truth right..

"Then like guys would come hit on us and i think that she s speak for her but i think she was kind of like. Oh this was the point like go away. We're busy like when the screen he doing so. They're like a lot of their really obvious things like that where i should known book. Both of those. Who didn't even identifies by. After those. I like i forgot about both of them. I fully fucking repressed them completely and after years of therapy was like. Oh my god. This actually isn't that crazy. 'cause i've done stuff with women before i remember it. That's so funny to me because earlier. Today i was watching this sketch from at lily's show that somebody posted and it's called queer and it was like a game show and the whole thing was like. I don't know i was watching him like. It's not that hard and i know listeners. Like hold on a second. Like i know for some people. It's really hard to figure out. I know it's hard like when you're you're young and stuff but just from my experience personally. It was like well. I am attracted to two women. I wanna make out i to date them. I want to like do things with them. So like yeah i'm queer. It's easy and then if you don't wanna do that then then you're probably not queer. That's as simple as it is. I know it's more complicated for a lot of other people. But i think the complicated thing is we've talked about before is just that not realizing that you can live your life like that that you're not just doing like this weird thing or that it's like this offshoot part of who you are. Maybe yeah i mean i think also like you know there's so many factors that like religion moving around like. What are your brain chemistry. I grew up with somebody in the exact same circle like literally. Same circumstances like french-american was part of the religious thing and they're non binary and they're queer and the second that they realized they were queer in spite of like the influence they were just like fuck it..

"Like when i get going so like. Yeah that was like what i was like when i was a teenager and then i found like acting and like oh i can actually use these feelings rather than the like throwing them on other people and like so for me. Brianna was kind of who i could have ended up being. If i hadn't gotten out of town. Yeah i mean you play a so well and i saw you posted some tweets. That people were having about the cancer answering all my mean tweets to see these. I can only imagine mackenzie. You're killing it by answering the mean tweets. But you're right. It's like you know you're doing well because it's making people angry and people are having this like really big reaction to your character. Yeah yeah it's good. You wanna hate her and like her character. Has a whole journey like spoil anything but yeah excited to see it. Well let's talk a little bit more about you. You know your your beginning. So i just think it's so interesting. You grew up in france. And i forget the exact story but i know i met you mentioned something about your parents being a cult so i kind of say that i view it that way under some other people don't view it that way but i'll stick by what i said. My parents were missionaries. That's how it is. Though a lot of people there's a lot disagreement as to what's a cult. What's so. I think if you think it's a cult to a that's kind of how i feel. I think anything like discourages leaving that cuts you off from the rest of the community that you know tries to marry you off young like shit like that. I just. I'm like mix you wear purity ring like i'm just like my parents. Luckily actually not as deep in it as other people. It was kind of a group that we were associated to but my parents were missionaries originally. They're not anymore. And so that's why we moved around. We lived in the congo and then we ended up in france. Kinda through happenstance ended up stuck there because there was more of the congo in that we ran out of money and ended up staying there for like my whole life. Until i moved here. Basically wow when did you move to the states. i think was like nineteen or twenty. Okay yeah. I think it's a cult because it was just it was intense like i wasn't allowed to watch my little pony growing up because it had magic in it and magic is from the devil. I see that kind and they did it. Start out in the. Us were you born in the us. I was but we were passing through like not all my sisters are born in the us. Okay i was born in new jersey because my mom drove there because she wanted the doctor who gave birth to meet to never have performed abortion. Before why oh. That's the only reason. I was born in new jersey. We weren't living there or anything. Where were you living at the time that she like like abortion central like we live in constant. But we haven't arrive all the way into new jersey levine side planned parenthood. So we had to like that. No i actually to be totally honest with you. The first few years of my life are kind of fuzzy. Getting the timeline straight. But really we didn't have a house of our own. We were more or less like surf couch surfing and like staying at grandparent's house while we do with a lotta missionaries do fund. Raise they get other people to support them so that they can..

Willman has gotten to the point that i might joining twitter. Just like can follow her or something like that right so game against thing i did. What happened is the. I checked my inbox and had a message from her from like four years ago being yo finding on instagram. I sure it was her. It was her like social media person. Or whatever no it was a miller percent but she was like. Oh my god like i had a shot. Like four you shall. I sat there and i was like. Do i do something about this. And so the thing i did this week. Is i panicked about something. That happened four years ago and did nothing about it. That's perfectly gay and perfect for this. Podcast it's on brand owned brands. Yeah we have. Emma willman perform and a lot of our shows. We love her so much. She's wild and she was totally trying to shoot her shot. Wow yeah very gay. Gay panicking love agape panic story going back to murphy's town off it is what we're texting about lot this week. Like we're our new favorite show and we've only seen two episodes. It's so good. What was it like to. And i promise. All the questions aren't going to be about. But what was it like to call her fucking bitch face only god. It was so exciting and like it was really scary. People really tweeting. It looks like she was going to punch you weren't there. I thought she was gonna hit me. Like i sort of think she was going to hit me. I was convinced she was going to fucking punch me in the face. 'cause she's so in character and music lived at the end late. Cut it but like you know. As i walked out because i i kinda wanted to see if i can get her to do it because i thought maybe it'd be cool like i don't know what was going on my head but i was like something like that so i like as i was walking out. I think i told her to kiss my ass added that line and then she likes yells at me as being escorted out of the station. Or whatever like someone better change your fucking diaper trammell or something like that so we have cursing at each other but she's really like great and as soon as the camera cut was always like super nice to me so i felt comfortable being rains because she was like you know she was good with that. Yeah i mean. I listened around amazon came out i listened to her interview on. Npr where she talked about the filming of mary's town and told the story about riding in the trunk to make the actors more comfortable for a scene. They were filming. And that's what i mike..

Leave policies have not caught up for women in office
"Are serving as state lawmakers across the country. But in most capitals, family leave policies have not changed. That leaves new moms with few options when having Children. Abigail, since he has more from member station W. K a. R in Lansing. Mallory McMorrow was part of 2018 so called year of the woman. When a record number of women were elected to office, she flipped a Michigan State Senate district in the suburbs of Detroit. Your first interview you're very hungry. Seven weeks ago, she gave birth to her first daughter. No. Uh uh. She's like the size of the microphone. You know, Like many parents, McMorrow is taking time off to be with her newborn. But while state employees get 12 weeks of paid time off, there's no parental leave policy for lawmakers. The answer to their constituents and their pay is written in the state constitution so they can technically take off as much time as they want The catch being they miss votes. I can't vote remotely. I can't proxy vote. I have to physically go toe Lansing. And I have a newborn who naps for 20 minutes and then is up again and ready to eat and be changed. Michigan is one of a handful of legislatures where lawmakers worked full time. Senator Vic Morrow said she spoke up because she could already envision attack outs criticizing her for not being in the capital to vote vote She missed so she could spend time with her baby. Are we comfortable with the idea? That we don't want working moms in the Legislature because that's the message unless we change the system, she says. This is a conversation she's had with many women that women can have it all. Just not all at once on that feels true for her in the Legislature. The
From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion
"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. Cooper what connections. Were you able to make between cooper the coach of the lansing catholic cougars and cooper the coach of the stanley. Cup champion tampa bay. Lightning guesswork me. Talking to guys. That new men who've now that he hasn't changed much in terms of his personality he had kind of style which coach's house you through professional level versus coaching. high school. Kids a lot of the same kind of tenants but he had then he still uses today. Kerry that floss with me all the way through the nhl in onto the honestly. It doesn't really change. Human beings are human beings and everybody needs to be motivated. It's just finding the right way to motivate. Rose stood up in my living room and watch the game and cheer tampa. You're welcome. you're welcome for started. His rise

"Terry Nelson, this is John Brandon radio Show on NewsRadio. 700 WLW We have checked in with the coach already don't have much more to talk about where basketball is concerned. We didn't hours worth last week with no games to play, so we're going to transition on the show tonight. We're going to move to football for our next segment. And right now it is my pleasure to welcome in the new defensive coordinator at U. C under head coach Luke Fickell. Mike Trestle back to Cincinnati after being gone for 14 years, Coach How are you? I'm doing great, Dan. I appreciate it. So you were here from 2004 to 2006 with Coach Dantonio. And then you went with him to Michigan State and you have been in East Lansing. Since. Are you floored by the upgrades in facilities that you see and Nippert Stadium. Yeah, There's no doubt about it. The press box at the stadium. I was actually when I was first getting back on the campus. I was asking questions about new athletic facility because they were just Building. It is. I was here last time and obviously that's fully completed. But, yeah, there's no doubt about it. The program's looking big time. I'm impressed. Coach this Terry, How you doing? Doing real well. You saw what took place last year and and how the defense sort of catapulted the offense. The offense started a little slow, but the defense was so lights out with what elite defensive secondary coming back and the pass rush really added to it. The offense caught on and and, you know, 40 points per game was outstanding. I guess people are wondering what defensive philosophy will you keep or add to or replace as you come to new defensive coordinator here? Well, first off offense averaging 40 points a game Hard for me to say that started slow. I mean that that's rolling pretty good. I think that both sides of the ball rolling Real well here in the bear can football program But dance your question. There are a lot of returning veterans on the defensive side of the ball and Certainly we're not going to try to completely overhaul things. I'm not gonna come in and pound my chest and say this is the way we're going to do it. We're gonna play to the strengths of our guys. And will the world be some differences? You? Absolutely, I think Pontifical done a great job of evolving every single year, But we will play to the strengths or guys and we're not going to try to change things with too much with the group we have coming back. Talking to new defensive coordinator Mike Trestle coach. You were at Michigan State for 14 years. You enjoyed a lot of success there with Coach Dantonio Big 10 titles, Rose Bowl appearances You got to about 14 playoff while you were there. I imagine you and your family were very comfortable there. What made this job attractive to you? First one. I would say Coach. Sickle is somebody I've known and he's one of the coaches out there that I said If I had the opportunity to work for work with, I would jump at that. Um, so I'm excited to work with Coach vehicle. I think the culture he has established right now is amazing. And and I was not going to leave Michigan State for some place that I didn't feel like I had that culture already set up, and certainly coach simple has that Um You know, I guess the bottom line with coach Dantonio retiring. Some of the people. I'm a people person. I'm not trying to move quickly. I think it's about the relationships we're putting in 100. Health is a week or whatever it might be. You have to be real comfortable and have great relationships with the people. We're with. And And right now, I guess that was an opportunity for me to get with some people that I trust here that you see in the place that I trust. And there's people should even outside of the coaches like John Witter can or other people that have been around. Four years since I was here last time, So it's been awesome. I feel I felt like a bear cattle along. It's been awesome to watch his program grow of the past dozen years. Coast Year 25 Year coaching vet. Obviously, you gotta grab some like a video game. Every level you goes, you're gonna grab some nuggets from each level. What is some of the last things or some of the mineral things that you remember just on each stop that you had? Not even each stop. Just so some of the things that stuck out to you? Okay? Were you threw me with each stop, and I've had a little bit of a journey. I mean, I have coached Division three. I have coach Division two and I've sort of been one of those guys worked my way up the ladder. Probably something that's interesting is my first six years of the football coach. I was on the offensive side of the ball. So I've experienced as an offensive line coach I've experienced of the Quarterback coach. And when you flip over to the defense of side of the ball from that you have a Little different perspective and something that's coached on one side of the ball the whole time and coach Trust on my uncle was the head coach at Ohio State. When I went there, and that was my first opportunity to work with coach Sickle. And it was actually coach Tres, who said, You know what I like to take guys who've worked on offense and put them over for that different perspective, and that's when I Lift to defense and certainly Um, I think having a background of both sides told me Um, Coach Tressel coach Dantonio most recently coach Mel Tucker and Michigan State. Ah lot of guys who Even though Coach Trust with an offensive guy really take pride and great defense really think that relentless defense is is critical to a great football team ball control turn over some of those Face. You know Fundamentals of football had been sort of raised with that. Um I guess just the fact that I've coached a multitude of positions, and he had opportunity Coach a secondary for the first time this past year under under coach Tucker it, Miss Michigan State makes me sort of well rounded. Talking to defensive coordinator Mike Trestle. You referenced your uncle Jim, who led Ohio State to the National championship in 2000 to your dad was a long time coach of Grandfather was a highly successful coach. Did you grow up thinking that this is something you wanted to do? Probably haven't had a false Saturday since I've Was born, and I haven't been at a football game. That being said. I think that.

"Well, this is the night. Of the state of the state address, of course, carried live on WJR radio and then discussed in full detail tomorrow. On virtually all of the shows. And of course, we'll start the morning off with the governor. On the tomorrow morning on Thursday morning, following her state of the state address tonight, so I don't know. Marie. Is there anything in particular we're expecting or hoping for? Well, you know, Interestingly enough on a side note. This will be the first time that will be done virtually, you know, Usually you hear the rousing applause and you know, because it's in the chamber right in the House chamber and then Lansing so this will be a little different to see it play out like this. Certainly we're gonna be listening for the tone of the whole thing of looking to see if there's any changes with our restaurants re opening school sports. That Obviously the pandemic is just number one on the agenda, and so she's got and she has many things to address under that big umbrella. That's a big umbrella, big umbrella, lots of lots to address. So we'll just be all ears. What time does it start tonight? It's at seven. And of course, we're going to carry it live right here in wjr seven PM and of course, live and then discussed old day. Thursday morning across all of our platforms here on news talk, 7 60 wjr this thing that irritates me about the FDA issuing an alert about methanol contaminated hand sanitizer. Imported from Mexico. The fact that they don't give us a list of names of the companies because they clearly apparently don't know. The list of names as Paul Eisenstein said. Some of the stuff comes into the country in barrels, and then his doled out in different containers under different brand names. But what really is is Extremely troublesome is that simply looking at the label to check for methanol is not enough because most violators do not include it on their labels. So my question is what happens to those people when they're found out? When you consider that this methanol has been blamed for causing blindness, cardiac problems, effects on the central nervous system, hospitalization and death. Exactly exactly. I just I mean, maybe we just all need to stick with the bigger brands. The brands that we all know, maybe consult with your pharmacist when you go in to ask about that. I mean it. Really. That is a very serious question, especially if you're putting out in the hands of Children or or or elderly people that you're buying for very big concern. It's just a It's a major problem, and I don't remember ever hearing After one of these things is announced, and we've announced too many of them over the years. The FDA announced today that such and such company from Mexico has been banned for life.

A fence around the Capitol building, You know, to try to maintain some safety and order if you will, But, yeah, there's real concern that Things could escalate this weekend and that just here in Michigan, it's elsewhere around the country around the country, often all 50 state capitals, but I will tell anybody who thinks that this will be a good time to cause trouble. I will promise you That virtually every state will be far more prepared than the sad situation in the United States Capitol. And look at that shot is joining us this morning to talk about that They're on high alert. Here on high alert is are all police everywhere and I It's only a matter of time before Somebody, and I don't mean the sad day Air Force of veterans.
