The Breakdown
A highlight from Institutions Are Getting Ready for the Next Bull Market | Weekly Top Five
"Welcome back to The Breakdown with me, NLW. It's a daily podcast on macro, Bitcoin, and the big picture power shifts remaking our world. What's going on, guys? It is Saturday, September 9th, and that means it's time for the weekly recap. Before we get into that, however, if you are enjoying The Breakdown, please go subscribe to it, give it a rating, give it a review, or if you want to dive deeper into the conversation, come join us on the Breakers Discord. You can find a link in the show notes or go to bit .ly slash breakdown pod. Hello friends, back with round two of the dialogue news analysis show that I've been experimenting with with Scott Melker on Fridays. Still doesn't really have a name. So for you guys, it is just the weekly recap, but on this show, we're digging deeper into a bunch of things that we've covered this week on The Breakdown, as well as some things that we haven't. We talk about Visa's stablecoin settlement program, the FASB changing the accounting rule, a slew of discussions around Genesis and DCG, including Genesis suing DCG, a little bit more ETF talk because it's 2023. So what else are we going to talk about? And then the recent CFTC decisions against a set of DeFi protocols. As always, this content is a little bit more opinionated and analysis versus just what happened. And I think that if I have to sum it up, what all of these stories sort of look like to me or where their common through line is, is entering this phase of final cleanup and preparation and transition from everything that was to everything that will be. You're seeing half of the stories that come out about new TradFi integrations and institutional programs and infrastructure being built, and then half the programs that are about legal battles and cleanup from what happened before. To the extent that there is a shift in feeling among those legal battles, more and more of others and availing themselves of the legal system to actually get better policy made. And so I think net net the trend is towards positivity and the next thing versus being dragged down by the last thing. That said, there is still a lot of cleanup left from last year. So let's dive in and see what you guys think. So it was pretty challenging this week to get down to a top five in my very humble opinion, so much so that I kind of like listed a few honorable mentions here. I am not even in the top five apparently as a jam or JP Morgan moves into deposit tokens for settlements. Stake was hacked by North Korea once again. How can we stop North Korea from hacking us? We have apparently the U .S. authority is an FBI looking into DCG and the IMF saying not to ban crypto. And those aren't even in our top five stories. Pretty crazy week, I would say. But what is is visa taps, Lana and USDC stablecoin to boost cross border payments. Do you want to dig into this for me? It seems that they already were piloting this for quite a while. They've been doing it on Ethereum, but that they've now moved on mostly to Solana because it's faster and cheaper. I mean, I think there's a couple of things that are interesting about this. One is, you know, I think the overarching is Visa just absolutely plowing ahead with the integration of crypto rails as part of its normal course of business. I think what's meaningful about moves like this is that you're sort of moving out of the realm of, oh, it's a cute pilot project for the sake of headlines into this is just another option to settle transactions, which is the core business that we're doing. And I think putting kind of a fine point on that is the fact that this wasn't like I don't believe at least that Visa sat down with the Solana Foundation and cooked up something big. This is just Visa tapping into existing public infrastructure, making a decision to do it, which is exactly what you'd want to see in the normal course of sort of crypto adoption is, again, not sort of headline driven partnerships, quote, unquote, but just integrations of infrastructure. And I think that's that's what we saw here. Yeah, I agree. And Kai Sheffield, who's the head of the Visa side of this, did a great thread on it and said exactly what you just did. You basically said, listen, this is how this thread you guys should take it. This is how Visa works, right? When we settle a transaction, it's between the merchant and the bank. And this is just a better way to do it that we're piloting for anyone who wants to use USDC. They're effectively saying what we've known all this time is that there is a better way to do this, a faster way that eliminates intermediaries and settles even quicker. I mean, it seems like such a layup, but like you said, this didn't require them going to the Solana Foundation or calling a CEO. They just said there's an existing technology here that can make our business better and are adopting it. I think there's just absolutely huge. And yet again, one of those things that's not making noise in this bear market or this crypto winter, whatever we call it, that will be in a year. One of those narratives that we look back on and go, holy crap, Solana is working with Visa and this is how Visa is settling their transactions as we see Solana go up by a few hundred percent. I really think these are going to be meaningful stories in a year when the bull market picks up. I think one of the things that is going to be sort of fascinating to see is Solana has had a real trial by fire, which it was always going to, you know, anytime you have an alt layer one that rises to be sort of the darling of a bull cycle, it has to then go through a bear cycle and see if, you know, was it just venture capitalists taking advantage of a new narrative to make a bunch of money or does it have actual staying power. And Solana had it extra hard because of its association with SAM and FTX and Alameda. And so the fact that you still have people building on it that range from, you know, small projects all the way to sort of Visa, I think is testament to the fact that it's sort of gone through and is working its way through that trial by fire. Yeah, in fact, I mean, from a market perspective, you would think that because of the relationship with SPF and FTX that it was almost beaten down more, obviously, than it should have been and should be one of those that actually has further to rise, right? I mean, the reversion to the mean for Solana when you see the things Ethereum doing and that Matic and Polygon, these partnerships should be tremendous to see. There's still a ton of building happening on Solana. For what it's worth, that's been my assessment of a lot of, you know, we got down to, what was it, you know, 17, 18 ,000 in Bitcoin, you know, sort of the lows post FTX, and we decoupled from the larger macro to the downside. And I think a lot of what we've been doing since then is to some extent finding where the bottom was supposed to be for this cycle, you know, to the extent that there is such a thing. You know, it's always been kind of interesting to see people kind of, you know, why are we at 26 or 30 or whatever it's, you know, my feeling has been that it wasn't necessarily some sort of, you know, big move. It was just that reversion to the mean of, you know, this thing isn't totally dying. And we're back to sort of where the bottom might have been had it not been for catastrophic fraud all over the place. A hundred percent, even if you just look at sort of the four year cycle, we had what would have been the bottom on the chart when, you know, people view that metric in different ways, but where weekly RSI was oversold and all this bottomed around 20. And then all of a sudden we got this sort of FTX black swan, but retraced that across the entire market in just two months. So I really do think that right now, 25K is just sort of fair value. Right. It's where price was before and after Graysdale, before and after BlackRock and before and after sort of FTX. So I agree with that. I think that that means this is just that part of the cycle. Yeah. There's something to be said for people like not being real stressed out about where the price is too, just as a psychological indicator of that. Like, you know, yeah, it would be nicer if it was 30, but at 30, we're getting kind of excited. At 26, we're just sort of hands up shrug. I guess this is kind of where we are for a while. Absolutely. So I think the next story, and I think that this one is one of the biggest stories of the year, actually, is FASB's crypto accounting shakeup could learn more corporate investment. Michael Saylor and others argue for anyone who wasn't paying attention. You've probably watched the show. You've probably heard the nuance of this, but effectively we had Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy buying Bitcoin, sparking the last bull market. I think it's fair to say it was like August 2020, and that led to the massive run up Tesla buying, Square buying. And we saw that Michael Saylor sat down with, I believe it was 2000 CFOs of companies. We were all so excited that February of 2021, he was going to teach them all how to put Bitcoin on the balance sheet. Crickets, right? It absolutely didn't happen. And it turned out that was a result of the way that they had to account for their Bitcoin on their balance sheet, which was effectively to peg it to the lowest point it was during that quarter and then take the loss. And even if it was higher, you couldn't take the game. Well, those rules are now changing in 2025. So I don't think that this is a massive catalyst at the moment, but this opens up just huge potential in the future. Yeah, I mean, it's funny. I love the quotes around this one because the people who are on the FASB were basically like, it's very rare that we get to do something that's incredibly obvious, time saving and right. And but this is that, you know, and that's why it had a unanimous vote. It just the way that it was accounted for didn't make sense before. And to your point, Scott, you know, I don't think this is going to be a theme to any time you start to kind of look at institutions getting involved in some way, there's a temptation to view every story as it should be a bigger deal than it is. But really, it's all about the slow accumulation of normalization. And this is just another part of that. You know, no one is going to make the decision to put Bitcoin or either anything on their balance sheet because they know how to account for it, but they might have come close and not because they didn't know how to account for it or the way that they would have accounted for it didn't make any sense to them. So it's kind of a barrier clearing process that I think is part and parcel of where we are in the cycle as well. That's right. Now, if they want to, they can. And before, if they wanted to, they couldn't unless they were out of their mind and wanted to piss off their board and shareholders. Right. I mean, Michael Saylor obviously here saying fair value accounting is coming to Bitcoin. This upgrade to FASB accounting rules eliminates a major impediment to corporate adoption of Bitcoin as a treasury asset. Like I said, guys, this is a 2025 thing, but this is going to give those CFOs and risk managers a long time to actually consider this. And then James Lavish, I just want to point out, he did an incredible thread on this. If you're looking to have it explained to you, I think in more layman's terms, this is the thread you want to go to. Now, listen, we I think we all are clear on that one. This next story, we had to effectively like rope in five different things because this is everything grayscale at the moment and it's a monster headache, in my opinion. But the first one that I went, I think, went completely unnoticed as part of the Genesis story is they're shuttering their crypto trading desk for the U .S. market. This is their OTC trading desk. I'm going to be honest with you, Nathaniel, I didn't know that they still had a trading desk. Yeah, I think that's why they went unnoticed, because people would have assumed that it was just gone already. Right. But I really thought that in their bankruptcy they had capitulated and that their business had basically wound down. But apparently they were still a major player. And this is important because this is how huge entities largely buy and sell Bitcoin. Right. They're not going on Coinbase and placing a bunch of bits. Michael Saylor might be, honestly, but most of them do this through institutional OTC deaths. And this could leave a gaping hole. I mean, Max Boonen, who I love, said, so Genesis trading stops trading. Why? And no one on crypto Twitter is commenting on it. But at the same time, we see the news. Coinbase begins offering crypto loans to large U .S. institutional investors. That's the other side of Genesis's business. But clearly, Coinbase is coming into is stepping in to try to fill this Genesis vacuum. Yeah, I mean, it is a big loss to have sort of a prime brokerage esque service that, you know, the most notable one totally decommissioned. But at the same time, you know, you have to think that any institution worth its salt, any investor worth its salt, saw the writing on the wall, you know, basically probably as soon as withdrawals started being halted in November and started making other plans. So even if there was still business going through there, you have to think that some of that was starting to shift. It does leave a vacuum, but, you know, nature abhors a vacuum and so do crypto markets. And especially with so many institutions now lurking around the edges of the space, building infrastructure for it, you have to think that that's that gap is going to be filled by more than just crypto native companies like Coinbase real, real soon.

Georgia Has Never Been Poor in Culture and Spirit
"Home brothers, you got a lot of the stuff back here, but you also get into the old southern raw genre, not necessarily, but Leonard Skynyrd, you get, you know, the Marshall Tucker band. You get Lana rhythm section. I still have memories of Atlanta rhythm section, you know, in the late said, you know, doing champagne jam. I mean champagne jam, yeah. Oh my God, filling up ticks, you know, Georgia Tech stadium back when we're doing those kind of things. And that's just, I think, John, from my perspective, it comes from a culture of sane. And people don't realize this in South Jordan but in north tour as well, that Georgia rural, you know, for many, many years. Atlanta is, of course, blossom, but it is still that people we came from a society that was, we were poor in resources, but not poor in culture and spirit. Exactly. Exactly. And so what we had was is you would have families or people in communities get together and on Friday and Saturday night they would have what we call hooting nannies or they would have people over and everybody would be cooking barbecue and they'd be playing guitar singing or they singing in the church and this is how that culture just developed. It is. I had there are two boys in my paternity, the holder brothers, Gable and wit holder. And they could pick guitars and sing and harmony. It was a true, it was a true southern tradition that they learned from their parents, going to church and all that stuff. And it was so amazing to hear. I remember they did a version of 7 bridges road by the eagles. And I was just left speechless by their ability to play the song and to harmonize at the same time. You know, I have Travis trit on that list too. And he is a hometown favorite because my son's gonna get in the background here. He's interested in the music conversation. But Travis Tritt, a growing up in Marietta, Georgia, post oak tree, you hear stories about Travis's grandfather being a bus driver in that area and I used to get my hair cut at a place called bob's barbershop off the sandy plains road and highway 5 and I never saw him there, but the rumor was that Travis used to go there to get that mullet trimmed up and looking good.

"That's okay, just because you're on the show to give it doesn't mean you have to be that best mate forever. Everyone gets their own powers. And so that's where life as well, right? And they are getting on. They are getting on in the villa. There's no doubt about that. They are really getting on. Whilst we're discussing one of his relationship with Lana, what do we make of PDA? They don't show a lot of it, but does that really suggest they don't fancy each other much? Yeah. And what are you guys like with PDA? I love PDO. Because I only knew the answer to that. That's the right way. Are you joking? Right. Hug me kiss me. Don't care about anyone around me. I don't do it to show it's not my way of proving to other people for me, but physical touch it just my love language. So when I don't receive PDA, I'm like, what is going on? Are you okay? I'm a little bit different. I don't think I'm so full on PDA. Until I have one tequila shot and I just feel so sexy. I just can't help it, you know? Yeah, I feel sexy, you know? Two shirt buttons come down. I'm ready to go. I think I can salsa. I've never danced in my life. But now the hips are moving. Anything goes. Anything goes. I just think sexual chemistry like, it tells a lot. It does. Yeah. So when we put that to run and Lana's relationship, what do we think? Just because there's not much, there's not a real connection or I don't think it means it's not a real connection. I just think it's harder to see the connection. I feel like, I'd have to understand you guys as a couple to know that, oh, you really connect. Also talking about situation where they spend every second of every day together. No couple has that. You kind of do want a little bit of a break as well.

"Thanks for having me. I'm very excited. You really are a big fan of the show, aren't you? Yeah, I actually am you know, and I realized once I got asked to come on this, I was like, yeah, I'm there. That's when I realized I'm actually super fan. Favorite couple of the show so far. From day one, from literally day one. Ron and Lana were my favorite. But my opinions did change as the weeks went on. I'm not gonna lie. Are you buzzing at the outcome? Honestly, they're so cute. Meant to be. And they look great together. This is the perfect episode for you to be on. Literally. I'm glad. Let's get into that last episode then. We saw Casey and Rosie get close after she chose a couple up with him on Friday night's episode, of course. What do we initially make of those guys together? Guys. I was literally like, they're not going to turn the heads. This is it. It's time for them to go. And now I'm like, wow, I stand corrected. Okay, see? He's ruining my chance of being mystic Meg. See, I actually personally are taking it. On a Casey, I kind of expected it from Casey if I'm honest. Yeah, why? I don't know what it is. I feel like maybe the whole Lana situation has made him feel well, made him at the way he's acting now because he just didn't get what you wanted from the beginning. Yeah. Maybe. Or maybe he's just doing what you're meant to do and keep your options open. Also a good point. My thoughts. I mean, Claudius left been left very upset after the recording and the fact that Casey wants to get to know Rosie. Shall we hear what she had to say last night's episode, let's do it. I wanted to do a speech.

We're Sorry To Say It, But Thin Brows Are Coming Back
"Well a few weeks ago. Bella hadid wall thinner more arched brows. She was going to con film festival. She was wearing that black dress. You might have seen it with that gold lung like necklace. And she's never had really bushy brows but have browse with china and more sculpted than average browse. This spot more conversation in the beauty world and thanks to all things nineties trending at the moment which you'll see every way thin- browse are actually back. But don't worry we're not talking about that pencil thin sort of one hair. And that's all you've got weight is talking about more of an odd and more sculpted and coveted confirmed it. They interviewed new based brow expert. Joey healy and he said yes. It's influenced by the nineties but what we're saying is a bit more structure so instead of that boy brow that was really beacon straight with stray hairs everywhere. We're just seeing more sculptured more lifted and he says the trend is partly to do with the pandemic as well so after every year wearing mosques. The focus is back on the. Is we sean. This last week's episode with lana tren but because we're not saying the lower half of the face. People are really tending to put more emphasis in more effort into the upper part of the face. And that's with more seen sort of sculptor browse when we say the and we just mean fina then really thick. We daren't mean really really thin erin now. How do you feel about that much better. Obviously when i wrote about it hurt. My soul's took me ages to grow out of my butchered thin browse. I have naturally quite thick brows. But i think it's really good. Because i don't think everyone falls into that kind of bushy brow- car delving category so it doesn't mean you can't find a trend to match your browse since ted if using product after product to kind of fill them in and make them really bushy. I think it's great to see a trend that kind of encourages people to work with what they've got. I agree and to be honest. I was never going to have that. Really bushy-browed look it just wasn't possible with my brows eyed thin them out too much and it just wasn't what i had so i've kind of gone from eighty brow with a bit of lift at the art because that's what suit in my face so suddenly i'm on trend and i didn't even try. I mean show my brows nee doing in the pandemic because they haven't been done for quite a while but i'm all for this and i'm also you know what who cares about trans. Just do whatever suits you face

A lot of people are kind of you know i. It's been brought up so many times over the years disney disney disney. You know who who knows who really knows What's going on there. But when you look at lana who you know again. I don't like being in people's pockets but she was rumored To be making about eight hundred thousand dollars Last year outside of wwe brown strowman having a contract in the millions per year. You know you you could look some of those examples and you can kinda you know maybe say to yourself w. Wwe you know who who knows why. They made the moves that they did today. Rousseff frigging there. You would've thought that after rousseff left. Wwe that if anybody was going to begin eating big old plates of shit storyline wise. It would be law unsure. We saw those weeks after weeks where she was getting. Put through the announcers table by shayna. Baszler nine jags thinking to yourself okay. There's there's going to be some type of payoff here for lana without a doubt or some type of payoff here she gonna get the ultimate revenge. She's going to become the women's champion. Here wh- what is likely. Yeah and it's weird because you would think that's where the story line was eventually going to go buy. It did not go in that direction and that was just kind of one of those head scratching moments right there where you're going. What this makes no sense what was going on. And there's been so many instances where you've looked at her story arc and it had just continued to revolve round. You know later on there and had continued to revolve around lonzo and shane obeys ler. You just kinda fell okay. We'll all right. Are we see how it is probably gonna end. It didn't play out the way that we thought it was gonna play out. You couldn't help you say to yourself. So what exactly is the whole point in in this. Lana story arc. Where exactly are we going with this. Look not everybody not everybody is going to be a wwe champion just go down the list tag cruiser etc etc cetera. Not everybody is going to be a champ blah and there's nothing wrong with being a good made carter. There's nothing wrong with being a utility player in enhancement talent. There's nothing wrong with that right And that's it then. That's really what lana was. And i don't really think lana had a problem with that. It was just all about giving being given the opportunity to go out there and perform and everything you know. She really cared about her fans. She really cared about entertaining. The fans and everything. An look man. If you've never watched her little twenty. Four special i definitely would encourage you guys to go out of your way and and watch it because by the time you get done watching it never in all my years. Last thing i'm gonna do is try to be to face. Try to talk one way but then wait a minute. I said all these other months prior in years prior. Okay so lemme be consistent here. I am slightly disappointed that lana was released. I'm slightly disappointed. But there's a part of me that is also okay. You know what this is all right and let me explain the reason. Why now granite. When we were first introduced. Lana pretty much rousseff. And x t loved it loved. Everybody was behind a. You couldn't fi one fan. That was against this. They saw a la lot of frigging potential in this pairing and for me. I remember in those early early years. They're watching their career down in annex t. I remember come on his show and say man. This feels like or seeing something from the old territory days. This feels kind of like mac. Imagine russa van. Lana running around the bruno. San martinos time as wwe champion or a pedro. Morale is or a yell. And that's the type of throwback vibe that he was giving me big time. And i just looked at that. Nfl man in wwe guy paid or right here. They got themselves a nice raking gold. Mine and i of out of all the call upson exchange. That was probably the one where i looked at insa- jesus there's no way you can screw this up. Wwe you got yourself something really special here and yet somehow they did and i think when you really just kinda go back to the focal point of you know what was now one point where things just kinda you know. Essentially blew up there. I think it's two parter for me. Personally everybody's opinion will differ on this. Who my personal opinion is when lana stargate breaking character. And she was posting videos on her social media accounts in her native american Native her in her native is native american in her native. No american Yeah you're like wait. You're not russian. But you had a russian accent like what the is like. Nah asked us is just the fright. Like i think that is what really started making heads turn and then the times when she would go on social media and you know break into these key things that were happening with her and rusev of slash mirrow behind the scenes and everything not really living up to the cave. Fade guys definitely. Remember some of those examples. I'm sure you remember some of those headlines from back in the day there and you're like probably maybe we kinda doubt that back a little bit. But i remember. Lana really just trying to stand her ground. She was not gonna waiver in anything like that..

Those those thoughts are not good thoughts. I didn't great thoughts. I think that that's actually a pretty astute of sort of Analysis and a smart way of looking at what's going on. It took delivery of a new model y and notice that on the passenger seat. The lumbar support control had been removed. So that's the area of the seat that would support your lower back. Previously could move that upper down. Inter out and tesla has decided to remove that from the new model three and model. Why again for the passenger seat. Only driver seat still has the control so understandably pretty disappointing for a customer to have to find that someone was expressing disappointment on this on twitter. They're they're imos just to be manipulative like that. That's not that's not safe and it's not fun so no i'm trying thankfully i've never had I mean i've definitely had friendships. That have ended with like i said earlier. It's been more so stuff that they were going through how to deal with. You know whatever whatever but not necessarily anything that happened to me. You know why i had to make a decision to end a friendship but the one thing were that as i was thinking about it. Shirley nets come to mind if i had the It would be and this is just in general cross with lana Disrespect you know. I'm semi you know for me because i'm real big on honor. Lana no. i'm real big on words. Any kind of winning right especially more than you might want. Time might like okay. Don't do that number right. Disrespect in say intentional. You know disregard. You know something like that but thank never had to go through it but that would be very high on my list. Who aren't so this lemay. Maybe a little heavy but so twenty. Twenty indian twenty twenty one there was a pandemic and then of course that was a whole racism and anti blackness being constantly thrown up in your face like more than it ever has been in the past so how did how challenging was it for you all to maintain that deep connection number one through the pandemic where y'all were able to come together and beat together like physically be together. How challenging were the for you to continue to growing your friendship during the pandemic and did you find that you needed these other more during the pandemic and the whole racism anti black win situation. What's funny yeah. This is like nothing really. Pain is concerned. Yeah my momma is what seventy two seventy three. So and she lives with me and yet nobody was coming to worth around. No one was traveling in the beginning. Also probably for about five months march. March april may june liberal like three months That we went without hanging out seeing each other during the pandemic. everybody was on lockdown. I mean that's a guess but having a tight circle of people that i know like you said lana bet like i know if anything happens i have someone i can call and they know that they can call me and i'm like i'm the i'm i'm someone that you can reach out to someone that you can call like and i'm not going to turn you away and i'm not gonna be upset that i'm not gonna feel bothered but i'm also an only child and i'm used to being you know alone. This is a practice that i've had to engage in my whole life just learning how to extend myself to someone else and let the chips fall where they may and sometimes things work out. Sometimes it doesn't or sometimes things work out and then you know we just drift apart. Someone moves away or things like that. And then i have to remember okay. It's time to try to extend myself again in a time like that in time like this is a little bit more difficult because not going out to the bookstore to the coffee shop and all that kind of stuff so you go to the bookstore up. "Says like not using any kind of manipulation tools but like really grounding the relationship like truth and growth like what do you want to create was the truth and sometimes it's so hard to say the truth because of course everybody wants to hear the bass about themselves and compliments. Let's it's hard to hear that. Something's not quite bare. Your partner doesn't quite feel connected to you. It's it's really hard but actually that deepens intimacy. This is how we sustained doubts of this connection because it's beautiful it because it's true. Well it's interesting too that we do tend to get our feelings hurt by things right. We don't want to hear at. This is so fascinating to me because we do personalized things and you don't wanna hear that there's something about you that your partner doesn't like right whether it's a physical trade or in emotional seeing a reaction a word you use like whatever people get very injured when their partner says something that they don't care for about them right into me. I well of course. They're going to be things that your part to me. It's so lodge but see i'm logical extreme logical to a fault to me. I'm like well of course they're going to be things they don't like like i'm sure there's gonna be things that i don't like about my partner to you. Nobody's one hundred percent. Nobody's perfect. We're not a perfect fit for one another but it also doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you just because you to your food with your mouth open and your partner doesn't like that things gross or whatever it doesn't mean that you're a gross terrible human being right. It just means that. That's that's a piece that you guys do differently. It's nothing to get your feelings. Hurt over or to be injured over to have a fight over. It's just normal like we're all gonna have stuff that we don't care for about each other and that's okay. Yeah yep absolutely. That's their self worth is the foundation. So when somebody doesn't like they will be always people who don't like something about us so we we can't possibly focus on that and just do the people pleasing thing but this this pattern is so deep like i find so running so deep and subconscious because we were also brought up this ways like what we would this appropriate. What does not appropriate. This is how you supposed to feel with your marriage and when you love somebody not supposed to feel disconnected like you can't say that because it's going to hurt feelings though it's actually a totally normal cycle connect disconnect. That's another thing. I teach is like it's the universe law of rewrite maxi disconnects when you disconnect from your partner you actually.

"There's a matt in another that. They are open than not open to to hear us to help us to give us with want. That is kind of the foundation of nonviolence communications. Who are i think. It's my favorite tool that they teach couples to us. Yeah i love that. You said that too because we do get in that space of. Oh he's mad at me. And i say he because i date men so for me like that's where we. Oh he's mad at me and really. It's not about the mad. It's not about how your person is speaking in that moment or if they're angry it's getting to what's underneath that and understanding that there's a feeling underneath that mad you know or irritable or whatever and the feeling getting to a place where you can have empathy with that feeling like. Oh wow wait a minute. He's fearful about something you know. Something is made him uncomfortable. Or he's fearful of the future whatever. The thing is but really connecting not to the behavior or the reaction of being irritable or short tempered or angry or whatever. The thing is arguing getting underneath that. To what the actual feeling is in being able to relate to that and then also i know for me. That's what helps. That's what makes me want to care for my person instead of fighting with them right. I don't i don't want to. I'm not a fighter anyway. I am communicator. And i want to know exactly what's happening so that i can be respectful. I can be a better partner. And and so i understand my person better. You know because. I don't want to continue to push those buttons if i don't have to yes absolutely and by the way men process emotions like five to ten times slower so usually we need to pace it like. That's with with the mostly men like get really patients. Confused that like why why we can resolve it because it takes longtime evinced across emotions like it's it's compensated on the physical level. Let's say in the sexual connection. They they move much faster than us says no. We're much slower so it's compensated..

Essentially she reported that ocean bottom trawling for shrimp whiting. Cod and other fish emits as much carbon dioxide into the air as the entire globalization industry. Now this was based on a study published in the journal. Nature and it was pretty enlightening. About how trawling releases. Immense amounts of carbon from the ocean floor and that leads to more acidification of the water and that reduces the oceans capacity to absorb atmospheric carbon dioxide. You can check out the entire article on the new york times website look for climate solutions by katrina einhorn. There's another piece of good news. Out of molly s this month. Ps gps she would then take the lead for an invite pay penalty. Extraordinarily brilliant goal from lionel messi would see one one dan belly had a million chances he couldn't convert and then on the stroke halftime really the defining moment in the game leeann are messy having that penalty save and he just felt then boss. Lana run out belief in the second half. We didn't quite see this team. Is that fed to sally. That penalty save changed everything. Of course he did even more. So when you watch it and then you watch it again and you see mode godly encroaching and clearly encroaching and so therefore if you have a system in place that could take a look at this and say you know what this is not allowed. This is against the laws of the game so therefore the penalty should be retaken and the truth of the matter. Is that when you see this happening. You have to question how come. Vr can take a look at this and say no. That's okay it's good play on. I don't quite understand it and to your point did change the dynamic of the game because as good as barcelona were in the first half the second half years they had possession years. They seem like they were about to create something but never really would that sort of confidence that they really thought that they were going to be able to come back in this match. I just don't think that after messy and it's not only the penalties after messy misses a penalty that means for this team going into halftime. Coleman cannot get this thing going for the second half off joel's how you love var because farrah's clear the thing that amazes me right. You've got to review penalties kayla novels off his line. No he's fine. Who was made razzi. Did he encroach yes. Seeing coach retake just forgot the second aides to be fair watching on television. I saw throw variety was encroaching. And i really thought they're gonna take this one again and when they were checking. I don't think that check in just for novice. I think there must be checking for everything. I agree with you. I don't understand. Why didn't they didn't to be taken. I don't understand why they give the pse pronouncing the first place anyway. I would not have given the long lay stamp on cardiac either through there were shambles the tonight in paris it was to the advantage of psg. So i'm not gonna complain. Though the lack of consistency again showing a niece is quite dramatic. Really english officials. Frank plain english while while blamed english. I can blame mr taylor and these systems. But i can blame the the world of referees. Were doing crazy things. And and and talking about consistency. It's an consistent all the way and we can talk and debate everyday about the decision. I mean that's that's insane. I can't even discuss about the penalty in the first penalty for procedure. The first leg. Dissenting up into celona. I wanna know where in which kind of football we are going into giving penalty for crazy stuff. I mean the penalty. Cardi cannot get the ball whatsoever. Okay longley never look at e cardi. So he's not willing to make any foul on e. cardi but we still decide to give a penalty because e cardi because longley stems only cardi. Not doing it on purpose again. So what kind of football is that is not the football. I loved the football where you know something can happen. But because he's not around the area of the dangerous area we don't really care because it's what it is especially if he's not mean if he's not a on purpose. Why do you wanna give a dose of penalties. That's crazy for me. I don't understand well the encroaching stuff. It's even worse because we also that we all named it but how they don't want to see it just a question we'd have to add them and it's not because the english because i'm sure will be french. It would be the same. It would be germany would be same. So it's it's awful. The food we are we are seeing right now. We're watching rhino. He's not the kind of alike on top of what we see from the players.

"What since the five. So i had similar conifers seems and certainly nightmares in this. Do not only from the fires are saw which was only a few very serious scary stuff on scary. I mean i didn't five issue me escape because we're dealing with what we train for but in the back of your mind it's going on subconsciously years to come. It can affect fire. Police officers and military obviously stories about united vietnam veterans but it affects people in real. Were you know normal. Life like seven view as well. And that's i've never. I don't think anyone's charged murder me but not being attacked not it probably could have ended up with murder that they trying to get money from me and stuff like that or had argument which could have an altercation so that that could be murder. If you've got to know yours was you're on your own prior she as well. Yeah i mean. I was totally in shock. I wasn't expecting it. And i kept thinking. Oh it's you'll get over it and it was just one thing after another so i guess the first first year i was think anybody walking down the street in a hoodie or anybody. Walking behind me. It was that panic attack feeling of anxiety of fear. Yeah right okay. So i understand that side nam. What kind of resolves it in things as we will not much different kind of a podcast with anybody come in trauma so yes oh that was a tipping point. How did it transform your life when it happened. The final some. I said god's not going to let you kill me tonight and again overcoming that trauma. I was like okay. I'm here for a purpose now. Purposes is helping other people go through the trauma. I mean i kind of did a lot on my own self help and then i was in. Some groups stood helped me with st yup snow. My walk that's coming out. Hi dave thanks for having me a pleasure to have your hair. So i mean you're doing this work now and i've also just helping women. As well i become touring their lives. But what was the tipping point that transform your life. well actually. i've been on the tipping point because of might experience. What what was the tipping point that got you on. A tipping point is. Somebody actually tried to murder me. And the god like drowning poisoning stabbing electrocuting stopping my face stumping on the beckham and kind of break it. So what's the story. What's the background behind was because obviously to solving on films of movies and tv documentaries but tell me a real life background so this was we've been in a relationship so in your house ex boyfriend of taking. Yeah so he was supposed to be on the way out. It was called back in one time and he just went. Beserk drugs mental illness the the two key things. They actually wrote a book on it in that some like a mantra flame and the story of how that all came. So oh you as the muffin. He was fine. I kept waiting back one more time. One more time right he would get treatment or he was off the drugs and drugs. It was fine. What what kind of drugs was it. Just just to get to alcohol in math. Yeah but mixing drugs anyway trump as well so it doesn't i mean some people have scope is. I'm not great with alcohol myself. I need team specific man who not see me yeah. He was hearing voices of that night. He was say they were telling him that. I had to be destroyed or killed or whatever the alien is it says kaz schizophrenic. Kind of thing. Yeah well i mean. Obviously we don't want to get into mental health too much You know. I do support. You know people that have it because it can affect a lot of people around you in different spectrums but obviously when it comes to violence becomes a different thing in uk. You know there's kind of not a nor now it's a combined with criminal. Which will they can actually arrest them with that but obviously they have to deal with mental illness. The fact that they're criminal but of course when it comes to things on near death experience with happen to you that's obviously a different story in this unit that deals with that that separate to the irregular criminals. You know where is more of a psychiatric criminal. Unix but know. I don't want to go into the individual finger of the boyfriends serious illness side of things. But what you had to deal with. Psychologically obviously must have been scary in that sense and dramatic cure. I was like taking pills. Tell me sleep. I was focused during the day. And sleep now. Okay an eight hours night. But i don't have the nightmares. I don't have okay. So you had some dramatic simpson's from it. Yeah definitely diagnosed with ptsd. Okay all right. Yeah see that's yeah so we're gonna talk about becoming trouble in this episode anyway to others..

Wow, I bet you this thing's cable, and it turns out he was right this year, Jason to Orlando and his friends act, Milligan finally descended. Half dome on skis mean climbing half dome is dangerous enough descending on skis. It's a slab of no anchors. So avalanches occur all the time off that. And if you fall or get caught in an avalanche, you're gonna fall off the South face 1000 ft Cliff, so they scouted the location a day early. We walked up there the day before, and we slept at the base in a tree. Well, we start a little fire and kept warm for a few hours. So we're so cold at three in the morning. We're like okay with mice will go to the top. We got it in perfect conditions. This time, it was like a lay an inch layer of ice with about 3 to 4 inches of snow. Trevino and Mulligan weren't the first to descend Half dome in the snow. It's been done on skis and on snowboard, but their trip was special. Well made Our stand a little different is we? We skied the cables with no ropes. But then we see it all the way down to near Lake So another 4000 plus Vertical feet. Achieving this lifelong dream has not stopped to Orlando from eyeing other slopes in the park. Every time I go to Yosemite. I look up into the mountains and just there's so much I want to do. They're still that's Jason Tor Lana, who skied down half dome into the Yosemite Valley last month.
