"To hear what the first thing got grown two years ago. They got him first. Now going to Rose's headlining over this past weekend role comes out there doing Paradise City. They pull the plug. Would you like to finish your story? I interrupted you for what was it about playing a house up and nap? I asked if they pull the plug on you. Oh, yeah. Don't Fox's story You were wearing your Giants hat, which was a good vibe. I was wearing my giant said, Yeah. What else happened? Um, enjoyed some wine We find some means. There's another kind of meaningless story from kills another one of those just during the Dodgers Giants series this past weekend, I had to do what I had to do, Tony. I'm no, I'm not judging. I'm asking, you know what's funny is I was president was probably during the Bueller game. And I was kind of like, you know, it's one night that turned out to be holy Men Game versus Miller. No chance. I'm sorry. I thought no chance now kicking it around the horn here, guys after that Dodger series like They did it on Scotch tape and paste and like just terms of pitching the Sclafani to gotten out six innings the first night, I thought it was huge to set a tone totally have a lot of respect for him. Just gutting that out. You know, he's from Freehold, Bruce Springsteen's hometown. Did you not know that they're both for that's an obscure talent type? Real? Yeah, yeah, pretty rare. Um, so he's got that attitude. He's got that Jersey attitude, so that was great. But I'm just saying, like, Where are you guys now, with the overall scheme of things, concerns about pitching any other Comments. You guys We haven't talked in a while about John. Paul. We have to talk, you know? Mr Webb, Mr Logan Web Right? Like I mean, and we're due for a song. Polly. I heard you talking ideas on the show on the measurement. Something. Yeah. And I traded text about ideas about Well, yeah, both mine. Yeah, don't reveal anything. Okay, but we've got ideas that are going to make something happen. She know I got a list. It's gonna get busy here. I'm giving you both You guys a heads up. It's about an idea right here. I got it. I got to put a whole bunch of new ones in the Logan Web is now the ace of the staff. And it seems like Gausman has finding, you know. Well reconnecting with splitter. Yeah, and disco disco. Funny. I mean, like you said That outing was huge in L A. Yeah. And if they tax the bullpen that night, who knows that the rest of the series sold ones up looking at a guy who I had some faith in like about a month ago, Cueto now seems to be. He's got an injury. Yeah, he's where he is like. I don't even know man. I don't even know if he's in the state of California, by the way, Logan Web by listening to sound bite of him last night and he was like, he told Kapler. The during the bullpen game. He's like, Hey, I'm supposed to throw bullpen today. So if you want me to throw an inning tonight, I'm your guys sweet man like that. That rules sweet man. So nice. That's the attitude of the whole team. Man These guys want all want to win is not an ego that's with another. It's incredible, man. Amazing. The vibe of this team is so thick And it's all for one kind of a thing I got to say, let's get you know what channel Let's give creative, Tony a little bit of credit here. No, I'm serious. Okay, because you were one of the earliest believers. This whole thing where I was not. I was not. I didn't like the way a lot of this felt, and I didn't. Um, but look at Doug, Did you get hurt? Duggar comes up. Right, bro. I love dog try to did you Did you happen to see And I'm gonna G cover a second LaMonte Wade in his last at bat last night. We're recording this Wednesday. Yes. He hit a line drive down the right field line, and I slow motion to his swing. And it was a thing of beauty. I love them. I wait. What nice it was I mean, the pitch was up in the zone. So as right as well house like it was on the inner half of the plate and lefties. At least I'm left. At least I didn't lefties. I know loved fastballs inside to turn on. And man, He turned on this thing, and it was just like that guy. What a player. Great player he's been clutch to. He'll come up with a clutch hit Can exactly exactly so it's just it's this team is so fun. Um, we all wondered what capital was going to be like, right? And that the he is you got to give him credit and his staff that he assembled with far and Scott Harrison. You saw something I didn't because you were even saying, like Farhaan believe in them. Yeah, they believe in and I'm like, I don't know, man like I need to see. Well, now I see it. Keller. How about this? Speak to this. Dude, I'm just checking the numbers to it. Yeah. Today again. Anybody listen to his podcast is being recorded September 8th the If the Giants win tonight, that'll be 90 wins, which is more wins than some of the World Series teams. One like the 14 team won 88 games. So, Tony Shannon Shannon lets you take this one? Yeah. On September 8th. If they win tonight, they got 90 went. You can't build a case where this team does not win 100 games, right? This is going to win over 100 games. Shane a. My fiance and I are sitting down. We're having copy today. Yeah, and I'm telling her what's happened in Colorado after The Dodgers series, and she just says, Who are these guys? True? I don't know what's going on anymore, right? And honestly, like you're looking Astrada, you know, that's it from other guys like Tony said somebody else open games. I'm sorry. The three of us Did not grow up in a world of bull palm afraid of him. I'm afraid of her happened because you went to triple and you said, Who's my next best starter? You never said I'm going to manage my way through these different lineups, And it's hard to do now than it ever was before And here we've got Kapler that says, You know what? I think I can navigate it with my guy Bailey. And if, of course, his duo. Yeah, Yeah, he's growing in the beard. Now. Did you see that Even flame last night made a comment that guys like basing his look on gay flick, Or is it the other way around? I'm not sure. But hold on, guys real quick. So 2010. The Giants won 92 games 2012. They won 94 so this team is on pace to at least Get to 94 wins. Yeah, Least. So, uh, unless they really, really bleep the bed, which they won't which they were confident they will not exactly. So, Shannon, as you were saying, Oh, no, I just I can't believe There were watching this team where you know I've I have been feeling very nervous about their starting pitching, and that was like talking about it For weeks. You and I honestly on the job cast. It's like our theme. And last week he winning last week I was in a place of desperation. I mean, I was looking Sclafani. I didn't have any hope for him and his start and Gausman get you through five, maybe six. If you're lucky, Gausman has been turning it around again. He's just good and like, Tony said. Disco Fanny start has paved the way for this stretch. I mean, without his start those bullpen games don't go anyway. I feel like I'm also sorry, Polly really quick, but also Gausman and, um, uh, Web and hopefully just go funny today as we record this on Wednesday. Our Nutting up to help the bullpen get.

"Well, I think that I think the concerns there. I think the concerns are no doubt. I don't think they just pass the buck on it there and to understand what's at stake also, but I think when they came home and saw Alex would not available now, Cueto's down Now you got to hold so you don't really have. And then you've got to look at 40 Man roster. You gotta look at 26 Man roster push your adding to players. Which they did in September. 1st. I think what they didn't do is look at what they had in Triple A and what they had to do to add a picture on a roster and then you lose a picture and and things like that. You know, I'm with you. I really felt they should have got a starter at the at the trade deadline. That was one thing that if you heard far, Hunt and Scott Harris said, that was a priority. That was the first thing they were going after. But they didn't do it and they had opportunities to do it and they didn't do it. And now it's coming back to bite him a little bit because of the two misses in the rotation, and they said one of the reasons why they didn't do it as they felt Logan Web could step in and still continue to pitch. But how can you look at those other four guys and depend on them every fifth day to throw 456 innings and it's sure enough, two of them aren't and now they're back into this bullpen game. It's just tough. It's this tough and I keep reiterating. You can't just throw a guy out there to start a game that has never pitched in a rotation in a starting rotation, the mindsets different You want to do more than what you can do, And that's what that's what J. Jackson went out there today trying to do and he walked guys and he got out of sort, and that's what happened with Alvarez the other day when he started and you could even go back to little when he started. Skies are bullpen guys. It's the total different beast starting a game. He got good call, though. I appreciate that. Let's go to Mateo and San Francisco. How are you doing today? Hey, Bill. I'm normally calling from Brentwood. But I'm staying on my boat next to the stadium going to nice, Nice. One thing I wanted to talk about was I was really confused at the end of tonight's game because I was thinking the whole way through. That would either be Canton A or long tomorrow and Cantona got in. But I just was really scratching my head. Why long got in in that ninth inning, and he obviously did not do very good in the ninth inning. I think that kind of goes back to the starting first reliever minds that you talked about a little bit earlier. But he's one of the only guys who hadn't pitched at all and the bullpen in the last couple of days and he hasn't pitched since. Atlanta Really, because he just got he's been moving up and down, but I really thought they would try to save him for tomorrow because that's what I thought too starting experience, and I thought that that would be a good option is he's been we're a little bit rocky. He's had some good start to get a really good start against the maps. He sure did just took the words out of my mouth. He threw. He threw great in New York. Matteo he through really well in any struggle in Atlanta, of course, but You know, That's why I thought he was going to give Kayla Burger both innings. I really did the way Caleb through the first thing. He went right through it, And I thought for sure he was just going to use them. Who knows? Maybe Caleb Burger might start tomorrow. Who knows? We don't know the starter tomorrow, and the options are everybody that through today Jackson Garcia Alvarez Little Quintana Group. Robbery, a burger and long, most likely long is not gonna pitch. Garcia has thrown two days in a row and he's been fabulous. Alvarez tried it before. I hope not because I don't think that was something that he could handle. We just don't know until tomorrow and who knows there might be a mind shift and they might be bringing somebody up from Triple A as a starter, and I don't know what they could bring up that they have to make roster move and things of that magnitude. Yeah, I know. And the theme of the giant to see her is moving up and down a lot of pieces very frequently, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are some losses removes tomorrow for pitching, but I just was really confused on that one. I could see Cantona's during tomorrow. BC that experience as a starter, the only two thirds of an ending tonight but No Kappler. He prioritizes really like getting his guys the ultimate amount of rest of there's zero chance you'd try to four day star anyone like Gausman or that he definitely would save him for cause. I don't think you're going to do that, especially when you only have three really good starters on this team right now, and they have to fill in that hole. Next week. They play three in Colorado. Then they have a day off. So maybe Friday turns into a bullpen game, and these guys all come back in that four day rest, and they go through Chicago with Gausman and Web and then they come home. And of course, when they come home, they're playing San Diego for four. So somehow, some way they got to find a starter. And they got to do it quickly, and they need to get somebody either from Triple A or somehow some way. Uh, you know, put some of these innings together where a couple guys go two or three innings because they're going to wear this bullpen out sooner and later. Yeah, I think gay was kind of expecting J to be able to pitch to today. He's been doing that throughout the season. But it's good that we're able to add Cantona be if he is another guy who had starting experience, so that should be interesting. But overall, it just kind of a bummer that we have a bullpen game going against Walker Buehler and the stuff he's had, but it's good that we're gonna get a lot of our lefty bats in there tomorrow. Hopefully they sing them up early. We have LaMonte Wade. We have Crawford hopefully lost. Ella gets in the lineup that we don't have Buster, but hopefully we can just get Walker early and often where we really haven't been able to use a lot of lefties early in this year. That's a good call, but tell that really is and you're going to see a lot of lefties in there tomorrow. Most likely you'll see Caselli in there and give Buster Day off. But, boy, he stroked the ball. Good tonight, Man. Three for four. All forward. Bats were just the old Buster and he was in a slump. No doubt about it, and we don't over five. On Friday, even though he got the game winner wasn't an R B. I was on an error, but still he made contact in that It was just great to see him swing the bat Well tonight and so same thing with Chris Bryant. Chris Bryant swung about 12 tonight, and like I said, I want to see this team come out there with that healthy in field of Longoria, Crawford, Estella and belt. And I want to see that I'll feel come out with LaMonte Wade, Chris Bryant, maybe a strip scare Slater in center field and you can have rough off the bench. You could also use rough in the left field. That's the offense that I want to see. Come out. That's the team that I want to see 26 games left and see what they can do on the offensive side with that lineup. Yeah, I was going to say the one positive was that Buster and KB really had some great heads with got him off a little bit of funk. So that's great. But thank you so much for taking my call Bell. Really? I'll have a good night on that boat. Tonight will be nice and calm for you. Yeah, Definitely. Thank you. All right. Thanks for tail. Let's go to Stephen. Oregon. Steve, you're back. How are you? Yeah. Sorry. It sounded like our to do in the last call straight. Yeah, He had some static going on. But that's all right. You're back. I appreciate your call. Now, just a couple points just to finish up on the runner at second base. Um, you know, it seems like hitting the other way. The bunts stolen base, you know, actually manufacturing a run without getting hit. Those days are gone. Um, and last, you know, game last night was critical as well. Yeah, last night was critical that they won. Even if the Giants, you know, perish the thought they may not win the division..

"The giants scored four two out ninth inning runs off Dodger closer Kenley Jansen to pull out an improbable five to three when they're in rough drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game and lamonte Wade junior then capped the rally with a two run single listing it too much about what else is going on interesting about focusing on my bed when I need to do to have consistent bad and you know try to help the team out so you kind of just focus in on that get a good pitch to hit likely did not object to do that it was Jansen's second blown save in two nights LA ace Walker Buehler held the giants to a run on five hits Buehler struck out nine before leaving in the eighth mark Myers Los Angeles

"You mentioned a couple guys in Luciano and Ramos, who are not going to be part of the story in 2021. We see Jalen Davis now on the major league roster. Is there any other help from the triple in? Maybe the double a level that could factor into this thing before were said and done. Well, I mean, I think the Giants probably would prefer No, because I think they'd like to keep the group they have intact. If they're getting a lot of additional help from double or triple. It probably means they're significant injuries. You know what they really want is some of these other guys coming off the injured list and maybe, you know, not having to have guys like Jalen Davis on the Big Big League roster for a long time. That said, This is a really great opportunity for Jalen Davis, and he seemed as if he is feeling as confident as he ever has in his career. And these are the times that guys like Jalen Davis. They have to seize the opportunity when they get it. They have to. Even if you know they're not necessarily promised a big league job for the rest of the season. They have to imprint it firmly on the front offices. Mind that. Hey, if you call me up, I can do the job. Even if you even if you send me back in a couple of weeks, I want you to know That I am next on the list to come up next time you have a need. So you know that front offices have so many different things They have to keep track of. And the big things this time of year. Of course, our trade deadline and things like that. But there are also keeping an eye on the little other things that they might crop up from time to time. So all of it works together. And, you know, I'm so impressed with how How well that they've compiled these steps, spaces and also the timing they've had with adding guys and making sure they're really ready and swinging a hot bat to, you know, to really maximize what they're getting from guys who are coming up. It's interesting. We're talking about prospects with his team when the foundation remains guys who have been here for what seems like 40 years, right and and the reason the Giants are where they are. Let's be honest is because, well, Buster Posey is playing like Buster Posey circa, You know, 2011 and Brandon Crawford is on Used to shatter his career record for mark for home runs in talking to those two guys in particular. What is it that has them playing at such a high level this season? Well, Buster would tell you and anyone that it's full help, you know, just simple as that that hit you cannot be an effective hitter with a bad hip. Uh, and surgeries like that typically take two full years to really feel back to normal. But time off is helping him. Uh, you know, I know a lot of fans are frustrated by that They like to see him play first to get as bad in the lineup more. The Giants see his value. Really? As what can you give us behind the plate? Because he's so superior back there with his work with pictures and how great a catcher he is and at the plate, and they want to keep them fresher. Both things I think that's worked out beautifully at eight broke. Brandon Crawford would tell you and this is a little bit surprising to me because I I and a little more old school. I was skeptical with the vast number of coaches. Uh, there. You know, some of some relative inexperience in the coaching ranks, and Brandon Crawford says that coaching staff especially the hitting coaches have really helped him. Um you know, they did some things with his swings. Some adjustments. He looks a lot of guys have said he looks better than he ever has. Which is remarkable. You know, he's a multi time All Star and Gold Glove winner and he's playing better than he has ever had. And he says it's the coaches, you know. So he says that I believe I'm very impressed with him. I want to ask you about LaMonte Wade Jr. Who has now been tasked with playing first base semi regularly with Brandon Belt on the shelf. But even before the belt injury, he was seeing a lot of time in the outfield. And here's another guy who was blocked in Minnesota. He comes over totally unheralded, and now you look up at the at the break and in 100 plus at bats. He's got seven homers. He's hitting 2 70. Is this sustainable? How legitimate is Lamont Way? Junior? I You know what? This is a cow. Cautious optimism kind of thing that when he came over in a little bit under under the radar move, the Giants said. We think he has more power. We think that we can work with him and really harness that power. They made some adjustments. You know, he had time because he he was there for spring training and also had time in the minors. He's had time to really hone all of those things. Unlike somebody like a Mike talk man whose they've also revamped things, but It's just too hard to make that many changes at the big League level. Uh, but last night was such a nice showcase game for Lamont. Wait, You know, he did a little bit of everything, sacrifice fly a double a great play in the field. And then, of course, the home run. Uh, he This is a really good player, and he's so much better at first than I think anybody realized even maybe the giant Uh, you know, that is not his natural position. He's got time. There is that experience there, and every time we expressed surprise instantly, you know what I played there. He is a good athlete, but, uh, he he might be their second best first baseman after Brandon Belt because of the athleticism. And, you know, he seems to have real instincts there, Which is, uh, that's surprising. I I just I love the whole LaMonte Wade thing, and you couldn't have a nicer guide to just when and batting leader This was a guy who was, you know, I think really overlooked in Minnesota. And really, you know, not necessarily about the Giants. I think they knew what they had, and they had plans for him. But it was kind of an under the radar move. And this guy has been really one of the keys would for me in terms of being able to fill in for some major major absences and then show that he he's probably in everyday piece for them moving forward or at least Pretty regular piece shocking and under the radar move that's paying off for the Giants. How? How? How novel every day Seemingly. So if you were to ask Gabe Kapler or any of the players about the L A Dodgers, I am quite sure you will get the standard company line that you know, we're not concerned with what anybody else is doing. And look, the Giants have more than held their own head to head against late at this point in the season. That said, there's no getting around it right. I mean, this is the £800 gorilla. This is the most talented roster in baseball. They have a whole home. 50 wins at this point, and that's with Mookie Betts basically being pedestrian through the through the first three months. It's with Cody Bellenger, missing a ton of time with injury. I mean, how much concern is their big picture about having to content and forget about the Padres having to contend with both these teams, but particularly if you want to win this division and avoid the coin flip one game wild card playoff. You got to deal with the Dodgers? Yeah. I mean, that's really been the thing all year. Um, you know, that's why most people thought that the Giants were going to be a better team and a decent team, but not a playoff team because you know that the big dogs and the division are very talented teams now. The Dodgers are, of course, looking at being without, you know, one other top starters here for potentially indefinite in the circumstances around forever. Bauer. Um, you know, or something that could create some, uh, you know, maybe some internal thanks, uh, that they're going to have to deal with, because that's just an unpleasant situation in general. Uh, It's hard to say, you know, the talent is just tremendous. The fact that the Giants have done what they've done in the first half is fantastic because it puts them right up there..

"The AM one. Oh 4.5 on the FN Either way, these sports leader and either way You're heading into Giants baseball. And all kinds of pregame festivities starting at three PM first pitch 7 10 from the Arizona Desert. Sammy long taking the baseball or the G men later this evening. And our next guest is very heavily involved in all of the aforementioned Carrie Crowley good enough to join us here in, uh, preparation for his pregame duties later today carry haven't talked to in a while. How's things has the holiday weekend treating you? You know, treat me well, Scott. I'm a little nervous right now, In the middle of the day down here in the desert, I have to make the five block walk over to chase field to my hotel. And it's about 104 105 degrees, So I like to pack two extra shirts before I get on the road and make sure that by the time I sit down, I've I've recovered from the five mile walk that turns into a hall here in Arizona, or you can just throw caution to the wind and go shirtless. That it's better off for the people of Phoenix, but I don't do that. Yeah. Fair enough. Fair enough. So a lot to get into with the Giants. Um, but let's start because it's been sort of the the theme that I have come back to over the last three hours, and I do so because it's an obvious talking point. Right When you're at the halfway point, you played 81 games. You got 51 wins that put you on pace for 102. So the obvious question is how sustainable is this? Um do we dare think that this team can come back and win 50 games in the second half like they have in the first Well, there's 102 win pay sustainable. I don't think so. And that's just because the schedules little more difficult. The second half in the first half, and the Giants already been ravaged by injuries. Look, Evan Longoria, Brandon Belt likely to be out for most of the month of July. The Giants get the Dodgers seven more times in July, so things are just shaping up to be difficult. But he is the element of the Giants. Hot start where they look like a playoff team sustainable. I think absolutely, That's the case we've seen throughout this season. The depths is their friend in a year where Injuries have ravaged so many different rosters across the nature's. The Giants just have a much better 2nd and 3rd line of defence that so many other teams and you saw it on Friday night at Trace Field. Lamont Way, Junior pops a home run out to right field. The A sitting in Cairo. Estrada Pops a home run Grand Slam out to left field tonight setting two months ago, and you asked the average giant state If they knew of either of those players. The answer would have been no. And it's really a remarkable testament to the depth the Giants of amassed in their next man up cliche mentality they've used, but yeah, I do think that the 2021 playoffs You could definitely be in this tips future. Well, this is maybe the most remarkable aspect of this season to me is that you look at this team now and say, Well, they have all this depth, and that's why they're so successful. You again. You look at this roster in March. You wouldn't have said that you wouldn't have looked at you know Estrada Flores Rough Duggar, Right? Never mind LaMonte Wade and said, Oh, yeah, Boy. Great depth. This team is really, really deep. And that's going to take them far this year. What is it about this organization is at the analytics. Is it just the ebb and flow of baseball? But there has to be after three months is a pretty big sample size. There has to be something to what's going on here. Well, I think what Farhan Zaidi Scott Harrison's Ackman, asking the director of pro scouting have done for this organization is ensured that the 40 Man roster they've built is well rounded Mitt. If there are holes or if there are weaknesses, they aren't significant in any way, shape or form. And so what That means is what the Giants go into on a daily basis or on a series by series basis is a roster that can almost always exploit an opponent's weakness. I go back To the Red Series a few months ago, when the Cincinnati Reds just didn't throw enough strikes to be the patient Giants offense. I go back to the Phillies series that they've played this season where the Phillies she's made way too many mistakes in the field that the Giants taking advantage of You go up to the D backs series and how the Giants play the D backs all season. The D backs pulpit is an absolute liability, and the giant have taken advantage of that all season. So when you're a team like the Giants that may not have any Overly pronounced strength may not have the star power of the Dodgers and the Padres. You need to be able to beat teams where they are at their worst. I think that's what gave Kapler's club does really effective and really efficient way well, and it's fascinating when you say things like no overly pronounced strengths because you look at the roster and that's entirely accurate and you look at the numbers and it's completely wrong, right And they're leading the league in homers right there leading the league in O. P. S and their top three in e, R A and whip and I mean across the is statistically they do every Anything? Well, they're the best fielding team in baseball. So again, I guess I asked the same question again. How the heck is this happening when you know that that you could you could say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But I'm not sure that even captures what's going on here. Well, and you make a really good point there, and I think that it's important to point out that the Giants don't have of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Or a Shohei Otani or even a Jesse Winker. But what they do have is one through nine. Everyone in the lineup can hurt you. I think the other day I looked at their home run breakdown. There's 12 different players with at least five home runs this season. They're probably going to have 10 players hit 10 this season. They're probably gonna have four or five players reached 20 this season. So what you have an incredibly well balanced offense at a pitching staff. That throws a lot of strikes like the Giants don't open. That's gotten significantly better in the month of June that it was in April and May and has the opportunity to be really good here in the month of the month of July because the makeup you're giving yourself a chance on a nightly basis, So I think it's really important. The organizational philosophy the Giants have adapted to so well as throw strikes. Swing at strikes and catch the ball and throw the ball in a fundamental, efficient way. And I just think that it's all kind of humming together in a way that really makes the Giants stand out compared to a lot of teams they face because you know, there are teams that are above 500 right now that have clearly pronounced weaknesses and the Giants. Just don't at this point, So I think that that's what's enabled them to get off to the fifth..

This would be the third time at those clowns have been featured on that show. Grant Brisby talking giants joining us next year on the sports leader. T K B continue except today. It's Bt Brooks and Thompson, Rod Brooks and Marcus Thompson on KNBR one. Oh 45 and 6 80, the sports leader. Oh, Just blue Marcus, his mind a reference the arrow in the FedEx logo. It's in the negative space, No arrow, and if it was between the the in the action just snuck that in there, and now you can't unsee. That's great. Want me to blow your mind? And here's the auditory version of the You'll never be able to unsee it. Listen to the beginning of smells like teen spirit. Then listen to the beginning of, um not to drop the bomb on me. But early in the morning by the Gap band and you'll find out that the drum doctor doctor is exactly the same. Dave Groll down with the gap bad, then I just blow your mind. I believe I just blue Marcus Thompson's mind. Grand Brisby joining us talking giants. What's up? Great. How you doing, man? I'm doing well, but I can't compete with that. I've got nothing to blow minds. Oh, no, no, no, no. You're here to pacify months. You're here to ease minds. That's what you're here for. No. You know, the Milwaukee Brewers. That old logo looks like a glove vaccine M and a B C. You just blew my mind. Now. We knew that. Absolutely. I mean, well, yeah, we do it, right. That's all I got. You know what? I don't like the fact that you're selling yourself short brands. Grant Bisbee listen great. This guy is over here, like press like like off the top rope elbow in the panic button, like jumping off doing a triple black doing the Triple Lindy and landed on the panic, But I believe that is a bit of a mischaracterization lacks. It's just the It's just the Giants reminding the fan base to temper expectations and shield. First of 50 buys you some time, doesn't it? You listen, when you win as much as they did what they were like winning goofy amounts of games like they're not the 98 Yankees, right. We knew that there up to 2000 and one mayors like we knew that at the same time why they are while they're winning. It's fun. You're enjoying it, but it allows a little bit of a buffer that when you go over 732 with runners in scoring position that you don't have to start, you know doing that that's flying burrito into the panic button. They're going to get a hit at some point with runners in scoring position. If these streaks are going to happen, maybe panic a little bit on the inside, but not so much on the outside. But the fact that this stretch coincides with losing a couple of games to the Dodgers. The Dodgers now being right on their heels for first place, half a game back. But also it sure seems like the injuries many injuries the Giants have sustained. It's starting to catch up with him and manifest itself in a team that's only scored eight runs in the four game losing streak. Yeah, that's I mean, that is there's no way around that when you had you had Evan Longoria and he was rolling. You had Brandon Belt. He was hot. You know, it's O. P s is almost up to 900 you. You're not getting anything from Tommy La Stella. So far, that's 3/8 of the lineup, and if the Giants were going to do anything this year, it was going to be Because of a strong lineup, and they've gotten good help and Phil and work from Stephen Duggar, LaMonte Wade and and, you know, it's not all doom and gloom, but they are missing three key colleagues of their lineup and that's no joke. It's no joking it's going to affect them. I actually think like I was telling Rod. This is a great thing for the Giants, you know, because first off struggle comes with some humility and Giants fans really needed some humility. But also you're coming up on a trade deadline and the worst thing that can happen at a trade. That line is you get gassed about how good your team is before the trade that line that you don't make any moves. Am I right? That's about right. I mean, it didn't know either way where you think that you have like the world's greatest team, and then you make all these big traits and you mortgage your future and then you find out in August and September. We were actually pretty bad. I guess we should have picked up on that. I mean, that's happened before. It happened to a lesser extent, like 1997, where the Giants are in first place. The safety makes the big deal to get Alvarez Roberto Hernandez, and it turns out they really weren't that good. And it wasn't Alvarez and Hernandez, who propelled them to the World Series, and they gave up A huge chunk of their farm. You know, you have that kind of risk to where you can take these big swings. But at the end of the day, if you're surprising team, maybe there's a reason. No one expected you to do this. And you know all of a sudden you're trading. I don't know. Like Joey barred away your training Elliott Ramos and you look back and you go. Oh, right. We were kind of a year ahead of schedule. Whoopsie Doodle. Here's where, though the don't panic thing definitely goes off The top rope. Easy is is a part of the ethos now is that you're starting pitching is still really good. That Johnny Cueto, who clearly were struggling last night, Johnny Coy does not The reason you lost that game. Um you know, this company is still pitching wealth. Gosman, you know who is going to make the All Star game? He has been an absolute ace. So what? What has been the tip of the spear for the Giants team this season, even admits this this bad run right now. It's still the part that's carrying this team and doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon. It is, but you know to be a little bit of a contrarian. That's still the part of the team where I look at and go. You know, I just hold my breath a little bit, not because of the of who's doing the good things difficult. Funny's good. Alex Wood is the talented pitcher. Cueto's good, but they have a really recent history of being hurt or being ineffective. And that's the one thing if you're going into the second half 162 game season, the year after Weird Mutant 60 game season, you're not entirely sure what the second half is going to look like four pitchers who are ramping up their workload. So I I agreed the tip of the spear is a good way to put it. It's why the Giants were the first to 50 wins at the same time. It's just if that might be even more than the bullpen might be an area where, if if I'm running the Giants, I'm saying, Okay, maybe one more starters degree take a little bit of the pressure pressure off of Gosman. You bring up an interesting point, And I think you I'm pretty sure it was today. Right? You're you wrote a piece about Posey, basically making his Hall of Fame case of no brainer this year. I'm wondering. Is it fair to expect a bit of a decline from busters?.

"That can be a really deceiving pension because we've seen the swings and misses. That's what I remember. They used to say that about Jonathan Sanchez a lot that you know the hitters. Obviously we'll tell you how good your stuff is, but it's not just about throwing strikes fast guys. It's about how you make the big league hitters look at these guys at least early in his career so far have done and picking up the curveball, he said. A lot of good swings and misses. I feel like I'm On that picture over his first with he had 45 outings at this point. Well, this is his fourth coming up now, But, you know, the thing is, you brought up a good point. And that is soft contact. You know, One of the reasons the Giants defense is so good is that the contact from the starting pitching? Is soft and it's analytically. It bears out. It's in just about every analytical formula. You see. And that's part of what you're talking about. And the key to pitching is getting the hit her off balance. That is the key and along with the curveball can get you off balance because he can throw 96 97. Then come back with, you know 82 that that's the deal. Yeah, it's the It's a great point about the soft contact, and I think we've seen that out of the bullpen with Tyler Rogers, which at times has gotten a little funky with him. But I think to the to the Evan Longoria injury play where it was, like three infield hits like in a row or something in that night's inning, and guys are sort of running around out of position, looking for a way to feel to put your right it more consistently or more often than not. These guys are making weak contact on the ground, and you feel good about guys like Brandon Crawford at short, Obviously, when Longoria is out there, he plays a great third base when belt is out there. At first, he's great LaMonte Wade has been fair. Fantastic. At first. Donovan Solano is his moments. I think we're all have a defensive lapse. For the most part. He's done a pretty nice job, So I'm with you the soft contact. I think it has played a huge role in why the defense has been such a positive element for the Giants. And also when you have guys around the infield, these veterans who have gold gloves and know where to position themselves and nowhere to make up a step. In their age 34 season. I think it does wonders for this defense. Well, it's funny. Adam Copeland with us the host of the leadoff spot Walk versus Walk, and I said, It's Spy versus spy. It's the old Mad magazine here. It's Who's going to walk more the age of the Giants and the and the Giants. Don't walk you And they've got the best walk ratio in baseball today in the A's have lived for years and getting that walk and then building the rally and getting a home run. And the Giants. Just don't give you that advantage. What's so funny? We kind of joked about that over the last couple years. I think with far on, you know, managing the Giants or building the Giants of the way that the A's were built for a number of years, with low budget to acquisitions and small trades and pieces on the fringe, and guys who were just sort of extra players out of the rosters, and you snatch him up when it goes deeper than that to your point, Marty, I mean for 20 years. We've been talking about this style of baseball for the age where they grind starting pitchers out of the game, and the Giants do that now those at the plate But then, to your point on them out there, just not walking guys. They do not give up free passage. It's all about being able to locate and I think that's why we see guys like Caleb Carragher, who's been option down the triple and he was banged up for a minute. But his walk rate was not fantastic. He had A couple of instances where you're getting a wild hair up his nose. I think we saw that a little bit with race. Meron to also, obviously he's been injured. But when guys are coming into the games, an issue and walks and if you can't give up three passes like that, especially in the home run era that we're in right now, if you're up a couple of runs late in the ballgame, and you put a guy on vacation. Next guy up. It's a bomb. Then then you're in some trouble, so I think obviously the Giants were built for 2021 baseball, But it's a great point you make about the style of baseball. The Giants are playing compared to what the age have done for the last 20 years, and it showed over the last couple of games last night included. Well, that's the challenge for Sammy long today. Is not not give up those free tickets and make them earn whatever they're going to earn today. And for coal, Irvine. It's the same deal. You know, this left the out of the University of Oregon and he can strike you out. He's got pretty good control. So this promises to be a pretty good matchup today. Well, I'm on a new crusade Crusade here and that is to get dug her out of the seventh spot. And when the season started, Posey was down there and I was yelling and screaming about that, you know, because he can hit Get him up to the three spot which thank goodness they finally did. I'd like to see Duggar higher up in the lineup. I think they're wasting them down in that seventh spot. Yeah, It's interesting because they about Lamont wait up there a lot right in the leadoff spot against against right handed pitching. Where do you want to see Duggar hit which fought the lineup would would make you feel better. Well, I would, You know, Honestly, I hate to say it, I'd put him second and I put you Stransky first. And, uh, it's kind of the last L a business, you know, but he's got the fractured thumb. Now he won't be back for a while. And I put weight further down the line because I think Wade can drive people in Think you can hit the ball out of the park. He's got five homers in mud 80 some odd it bats and I think he's a very, very disciplined hitter, and I'd put him in in that five spot or six spot. That's right. Put weight. My only concern, I guess with you. I know you're Strunsky strikes out a lot, I guess and put them in the night and everybody strikes out on holidays. I guess it would be the end of the world. But I want to say they've tried Mikey Stransky in the White House spot A couple of times over the last few years have had some success for that. I've got no problem with Stephen Duggar hitting higher in the lineup. I love his speed scored from first base on a double up the line yesterday was fantastic and Hunger is a guy who, you know, he sort of had to fight for his opportunity to play again this year. You know that the canoers in comes in, and he's a guy who had a number of injuries and had struck out a bunch. It was supposed to be this Steve Finley like leadoff hitter and it's sort of finally come into fruition now and as long as he stays healthy. I think he's going to be a key contributor because it was a great center field. Marty. I love the way he runs the bases and You said it. These guys that sort of gap to gap power would get him up at the top of the line up. Maybe as gets on, and then he can knock him over to third or drive him in their from the two holes. So I'm okay with that with where he's been in the seventh spot. Maybe it is the coveted seven spot Now, Marty, maybe everybody gave Kappler plugs into seven gets hot like a Buster Posey and the Stephen Duggar So we'll see what happens. All right, Well, tell him to put rough in there at the bond and see what happens if that happens. Hey, Where's your podcast partner? Do you know where he is? Our carry? No, He just told me he was getting away. And like he was not going to be reachable. And so I haven't talked to him since Thursday morning. I don't think all right. I think he's in Park Ranger school at Jellystone National Park. Something like that. I'm looking forward to this stories when he comes back next week. I'll tell you that. Yeah, Me too. Me too, buddy. All right. Have a great Sunday. Always a pleasure. And I'll see you soon. Thanks, Adam. All right. Marty was that you later? Take care. That is Adam Copeland of the leadoff spot. You can hear, uh, every morning Monday through Friday at five A.m.,.

"Baseball, you know why the drama of baseball and we saw it last night at Oracle Park Fabulous game before 33,168. The Giants get their first walk off win of the year. 6 to 5 and 10 innings over the Oakland Athletics Giants, now nine and four, an interleague play. And on the season they are 50 and 26. Number one in major league baseball. The ball club is 1 10 of 11 22 of 29. They're 16 and six in June. Yes, Ar 15 and eight in June and believe me, the A's are not an easy team to play. For the Giants. They are now 26 10 at home. The A's are 21 15 on the road and the Giants at two more home runs last night to put their total to 114. As the dust settles this morning, we'll go through this game a little bit. It was one of the fabulous games of the year and one that we're going to remember for a long time. The Giants do win at 65 10 innings as I say. The Dodgers beat the Cubs, so they're 46 31. Now the Giants are 50 and 26. They've got five more games till we get to the halfway point of the season. So the Dodgers winners last night there 4.5 back, But San Diego lost 10 to 1 to Arizona. Merrill Kelly. Well, the best picture Arizona has the Giants will see him later this week. Beat the Padres, 10 to 1. The Padres now dropped 5.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants. And in the loss column, the Giants of 26 losses and believe me, We've got two long months ahead of us, then our race to the finish. So a lot of baseball, But right now, the Giants have seven games up on the loss column on San Diego and five games up in the loss column. On the Los Angeles Dodgers. Well, when we take a deep breath and look back at last night, there are a lot of things that happen in this game last night that the Giants can build on And it wasn't necessarily the big guys. Obviously, Posey is out with the tight back belt is out with the knee injury. Longoria is out of the side injury, and basically it was Brandon Crawford of the veterans holding the line last night. Alex would started for the Giants, and he struggled last night. I thought they were going to pinch it Forum in the fifth inning, but Gabe Kapler didn't and would then got in trouble in the sixth inning, and he was gone at that point. But when you look at the game last night This is the game, The Giants trailed one to nothing. Then things started to happen. Lamont Way, Junior and Mark a. Simon says on Twitter. He said it to us on the pre game yesterday. LaMonte Wade Jr gets a pitch in the strike zone, a mistake pitch. He doesn't miss it. He's hitting 500 boy. He hit a big home run last night into the pavilion on an 02 pitch. From Frankie Montage to put the Giants up 2 to 1. Well, then the A's came back and tied at 22 on a single by Moreland and went up for two on a two run homer by Matt Chapman up into that pavilion off of Zach Lou, Tell And then things started to get interesting as we got into the latter stages of the game. Giants made it 43 on a base hit by Wilmer floors. They made it 44 on a home run, who struggling against left handed pitching, as Susan Slusser pointed out in the Chronicle this morning. Donovan Solano is first hitting 16 at bats against the lefty. Put it into the left field seats to tie it up, 44. All right, then we go to the bottom half of the ninth inning, and it look like the Giants were going to pull one out here. As Brandon Crawford came up in, Ken, Correct on the broadcast was warning everybody, you don't want to face Crawford here. And Crawford got a base hit to left field and then a very interesting play happened. Tony Kemp, not with a big arm, throws the ball to the cut off man. Matt Chapman, who's got a rifle. And LaMonte Wade is cut down at the plate to end the ninth inning. How about that before 33,000 excited fans? He's cut down at the plate and we go to the 10th inning. McGee was in there in the 10th inning, and we know he gives up contact the sacrifice fly to Chapman. And then we got to the bottom half of the of the 10th inning, and this was one of those Classic classic giant games last night for Stephen Duggar. He gets the base hit with the Ghost runner on second, and I'm telling you, it was a rocket into center field. A rocket at the center field scores that run the tied up 55 Crawford scores that run And then it's Curt Casali, and he was our difference. Maker of the week. He's got a sort of a little bit of a tight back. He's in there for Posey, and he hits one down the left field line. Uh, Tony Kemp has trouble digging out. In the corner a little bit off the wall down there. Duggar is flying, flying around the basis and he ends up scoring the winning run and the Giants walk it off 6 to 5. Over the A's in 10 innings last night. Wow, what a game! I say you look at the amount of walks and strikeouts and the Giants amount of hits. But the big hits counted last night and the players who are coming through our players who or not well known there, not and we've got a long season ahead of us. But they're coming through and very confidently coming through as the Giants win it last night 6 to 5 in 10 innings over the Oakland Athletics Well, Interesting, interesting game exciting game close to four hours. Long and boy you invested sometime last night in the game was a tough loss to the A's. They fall three games behind Houston, and they turn today. The coal Irvine left handed pitcher He's 27 years old 64 to 17. He's 79, Lifetime five and seven this year. University of Oregon and the A's purchased him from the Phillies, where he had pitched in 2019 and 2020. So Cole Irvine goes today. 35th game 19th Major league start. In 15 games. 86 innings 95 hits, nine homers, 15 walks and 60 strikeouts for him, Uh in June four walks, 15 strikeouts 22 innings 28 hits in a couple of home runs, so left these 3 18 righties to 63 7 of.

"As we, Uh guess where people will be listening to this this weekend giants in the Asian Oracle Park you excited about the the capacity crowds at Oracle Park returning this week? Yeah, I'm pumped. I'm also taking vacation this weekend, so I won't be here. But I've been hyping it up for like, two months now, coz I'm like The city is back. Just wait until June. 25th can't wait to see what Giants ace full capacity. Crowds are like I know how fun that's going to be, but I also have had a long scheduled vacation, so I knew I knew it this weekend most difficult matchup for the Giants since The Dodgers. Yeah, I I would say the Cubs were pretty difficult came in hot tubs came in real hot. They'd won nine of 10. They just swept the Padres and the Giants made it look like the Cubs were not a good baseball, at least that captures boys and then get out of town to exactly the hell are you doing here? But I will say the ayes have, I would say they have a little bit of an advantage going with shaman Dianne Kohler Vin into those three games just because the Giants do not hit lefties as well as they hit righties right now, I'm so glad you said that carry that's gonna bring me the quality question number one for you today. Talking a lot about trade deadline stuff because it's it's approaching. We've got about a month or so until the deadline is here. Jim Bowden of the athletic wrote a great piece about potential trade pieces or players that could be traded. It's basically all the Orioles all the Rangers all the nationals ranking, maybe a couple of the Cubs or maybe a dee back or a cup or Trevor story floated out there. I'd expect forever stories. He's gotta go. He's got to go because otherwise practice of the Colorado Rockies new general manager who I have not yet learned his name, and you may not have time to by the time it's also it will be now practice if neither he nor John Gray were traded. It's pretty bad. Yeah, By the way, he loved it. He's like, Send a bunch of money with Aaron Otto to, uh, to say it will take him and take some cash to 50 Million. Unbelievable. In Aaron Otto. Unbelievable, Anyway. Quality question number one is what is the biggest need for the Giants at the trade deadline. Is it? Startle. Is it right handed relief. Is it a right handed bat for the light up? Or is it something else? What's your pick without question starting pitching. Starting pitching at the very top the list. Then there's a huge gap and maybe a right handed bat or Excuse me. Yeah, maybe a right handed bat in the outfield. Maybe Mitch Hanniger and then maybe another writing in the bullpen to help them out at the end of the games, But to me, starting pitching as far and away this team's biggest need. You get into a playoff series. Right now you've got Kevin Gausman. You've got Anthony de Stefani and you've got a bunch of question marks. It's a good call. We don't know what happens with Logan Web coming up. We don't know what Johnny Cueto's future is going to hold. Alex Wood has not been giggly is good. As we'd hoped in that that that piece by Jim Bowden. He linked the Giants a little bit, too. Matt Boyd, left handed starter for the Detroit Tigers, who's kind of been linked to the Giants of the deadline for the last three years. He's having a better year now that he wasn't either of the previous two seasons. What are your thoughts on that boy to the Tigers like Matt? But wait a lot because he's a lefty, And I think that you want that right now, especially with Alex would struggling and unable to throw his slider effectively. Right now, I think that you want someone like Matt Boyd. I also wouldn't rule out the inner division trade of John Gray coming to San Francisco. I think that he's Someone who kind of fit the oracle Park profile. He would do well in San Francisco. Hard thrower similar a little bit too, DeSclafani. So maybe they could do something with him. But obviously a one if the nationals were to ever give him up his Max Scherzer. Yeah, that would be the tough one. And that's Of course, if you're if you're not checking spin rates, and you want to make sure that he's got nothing. You got to check his hair before you acquire them, I guess would be the move of the capital. Not a con artist like Girardi. Yeah, but it wouldn't be Kapler. It would be like we need somebody to call. I just hear you be calling the manager. We need Jace tingling to be the con artist. Right? Yeah, Anyway, let's get to quality actually, one more on the the trade deadline tip. Joey Gallo isn't in that's been floated out. Obviously a huge bad A guy who can place him first has in the past played third. But not since 2017 can play all three outfield spots won a Gold glove in the outfield in 2020. Joey Gallo would be a huge price tag, especially because he's under contract for next year, but it would be a huge bat to have in the middle. The lineup. He said. 40 homers twice in his career. Yeah, I don't see it. I think that he strikes out a little too much for the Giants. I think That their current left handed outfield makeup of Dickerson and left and then Duggar and center and Yazan, right, Lamonte Wade being the fourth outfielder as a left handed hitter. I don't see this being a perfect fit, but maybe if you throw Dickerson in that deal with a few prospects, it works out. I just don't know that you want to mess with the chemistry of this club that way to me. I'd rather see Hanniger in San Francisco who can hit lefties and a girl from the rights had to be great. Also, like a Gold Glove caliber player and a guy from the big area to ready high school, bring him on that used to hold the West Catholic Athletic League reception. In record and the guy who was second on that list for many years. Brayden Bishop Well, also with the giant system, former Seattle Mariners outfit Incredible. Incredible giants love their former Mariners. So what do you think? Maybe maybe flip Joey Barton up there for for Mitch Hanniger. I don't think that you need to give up Joey Bar to get Mitch Hanniger. I think that Alex Canario and maybe a curb in Castro will get the job done. Maybe you throw in Austin Slater to to give them major league piece right now. Whoa! I'd like to keep all my guys who were playing college ball in the bay Area here and then keep my keep my college guys from the Bay Area here. Another one here. Let's get to this one towards the end of the quality questions here. Um, how many suspensions at the end of this season? Will there have been issued for sticky substances? Two pitchers? I think under five If the If the way the league is enforcing it right now continues, I think under five. I just don't think that there's gonna be a whole lot of people willing to subject themselves being caught publicly on the field the way that umpires are doing this right now. Yeah, I think you're right. I was going to say under 10, but under five is probably I mean, I guess under five is under 10, but I was here. I can't. I can't see it being all that many. All right time to get to our walk one pitch to one and drill one. If you walk. These are three guys going to come up to the plate. The guy you drill is going to come out and fight you..

Kevin Gausman Jim Bowden Joey Barton Alex Canario Matt Boyd John Gray Mitch Hanniger Joey Gallo Anthony de Stefani Lamonte Wade Johnny Cueto San Francisco 2020 Alex Wood Bay Area Detroit Tigers Matt Seattle Mariners Yazan Aaron Otto

"Will be listening to this this weekend giants in the Asian Oracle Park. You excited about the capacity crowds at Oracle Park returning this week? Yeah, I'm pumped. I'm also taking vacation this weekend, so I won't be there. But I've been hyping it up for, like, two months now, coax. I'm like the city is back. Just wait until June. 25th can't wait to see what Giants ace full capacity. Crowds are like I know how fun that's going to be, but Also have had a long scheduled vacation, so I know I know it because this weekend most difficult matchup for the Giants since the Dodgers. Yeah, cups, I would say the Cubs were pretty difficult came in hot tubs came in real hot. They'd won nine of 10. They just swept the Padres and the Giants made it look like the Cubs were not a good baseball at least like operas, boys and then get out of town to exactly how are you doing here? But I will say the ayes have, I would say they have a little bit of an advantage going with shaman and cooler even in two of those three games just because the Giants do not hit lefties as well as they hit right He's wrong. I'm so glad you said that carry that's going to bring me the quality question number one for you today. We've been talking a lot about trade deadline stuff because it's approaching. We've got about a month or so until the deadline is here. Jim Bowden of the athletic wrote a great piece about potential trade pieces or players that could be traded. It's basically all the Orioles all the Rangers all the nationals, right, and maybe a couple of the Cubs. Yeah, maybe a d back or a cup or Trevor story floated out there. I'd expect forever stories. He's gotta go. He's got to go because otherwise practice of the Colorado Rockies New General manager who I have not yet learned his name and you may not have time to by the time it's also will be malpractice. If neither he nor John Gray were trading. That's pretty bad. Yeah, by the way, he like lump to he's like sent a bunch of money with Coronado to, uh to ST Louis. Take him and take some cash to 50 Million. Unbelievable, unerring nado. Unbelievable. Anyway. Quality question number one is what is the biggest need for the Giants. At the trade deadline. Is it a starter? Is it right handed relief. Is it a right handed bat for the light up? Or is it something else? What's your pick without question starting pitching. Starting pitching at the very top the list. Then there's a huge gap and maybe a right handed bat or Excuse me. Yeah, maybe a right handed bat in the outfield. Maybe Mitch Hanniger and then maybe another writing in the bullpen to help them out at the end of the games. But to me, starting pitching is far and away. This team's biggest need. You get into a playoff series. Right now you've got Kevin Gausman. You've got Anthony disc Afari and you've got a bunch of question marks. It's a good call. We don't know what happens with Logan Web coming up. We don't know what Johnny Cueto's future is going to hold. Alex Wood has not been giggly is good. As we'd hoped in that that, uh, that piece by Jim bound, he linked the Giants a little bit, too. Matt Boyd, left handed starter for the Detroit Tigers, who's kind of been linked to the Giants of the deadline for the last three years and having a better year now that he wasn't either of the previous two seasons. What are your thoughts on that boy to the Tigers like Matt Boyd a lot because he's a lefty, and I think that you want that right now, especially with Alex would struggling and unable to throw his slider effectively. But obviously a one if the nationals were to ever give him up his Macs shirt. Yeah, that would be the tough one. And that's Of course, if you're if you're not checking spin rates, and you want to make sure that he's got nothing. You got to check his hair before you acquire him. I guess would be the move. Captain is not a con artist like Girardi. Yeah, but it wouldn't be Kapler. It would be like we need somebody to call. I just hear you becoming the manager. We need Jace tingling to be the con artist. Right? Yeah, Anyway, let's get to quality actually, what more on the trade deadline Tip. Joey Gallo isn't in that's been floated out. Obviously a huge bat. A guy who can place him first as in the past, played third. But not since 2017 can play all three outfield spots won a gold glove in the outfield in 2020. "Think you got robbed, actually, as an angels fan, because was he really out at the plate? I mean, I think I mean, he was that looks so I thought he tagged him before he touched it. I mean, I could see if they wanted to go with the tie. But Put it this way. Uh, when I first saw it And they slowed it down. I said he's out. And I thought it was pretty clear. I mean, is it one of those two Buster thought he got him and he said, I just got him. Yeah. I mean, it's weird because these guys slide and it happened so fast, initially. But then you realize that kind of bend their legs and sometimes the front leg doesn't even touch home plate. It's usually the back leg touches it, which is a weird sliding technique. Uh, okay. Slide in the front foot up. It's like, well, that, does you No good. That was great before replay. No one cared if your foot touchtone played as long as it crossed over home plate. That was good enough. But now with replay, you better make sure you touch it, and it just surprises me. That these guys don't have that front foot. That front foot down. I mean, when I was like when I was young, I I did that. I I did because I was little goofy like that. As a kid. I worked on sliding all the time and I was in my backyard in my backyard on the grass. You know it's slide, and I always always slid. And I can't turn right at it kind of turned my body a little bit so I could keep my front foot on the ground and kind of keep my toe pointed out and not because There was replay because there wasn't I just wanted to be able to touch the outside part of the bag. So when I was sliding into second when I was stealing, I was just trying to get the outside part of the bag so it would be a little further away. For them to get me and I can still catch the corner and hold onto the corner without sliding by by the bag. Now, at that point, it didn't really make much difference cause you could flight over the bag and touch it. And it wasn't replaying it was. You know, it was 13 14 year old, so it didn't really matter. But now things have changed. Like people that like Go ahead 1st and 1st base Now it's like you do realize there's replay now, right? You're not fooling anybody anymore. You may fool him, but you eat four in the eye in the sky. They're going to find out whether you're safe for now, because that was all about deception, right? That was all about. You can't hear my foot hit the bag of my foot Doesn't hit the bag with my hand hits the bag and that kind of screw with him a little bit. Maybe a little dust in there and everything, and that'll confuse the situation. Great. He may miss the call. But the understanding was a definitive like I thought it was field was out or they call on the field was safe. So I thought it was going to take really definitive video and then I don't know from the angles. I saw it was really hard to tell if if the toe was over the bag or touching the bag because it's not unlike the other bags. Complaints, not a not a bag, right, So it's like you can't really see if he was over. Only the UMP can really tell right there if he's if the toe is touching the ground. I don't know to me. You know what? I was happy. I don't want to argue, argue, but I thought the Giants got away with one there. You know, it's definitive when someone who's rooting for their team says he's out, Okay? When you say your own teams out, that's pretty defended. I thought it was out. I didn't want it to be. I would have rather had the game over. I would have rather had the game be over. At that point, Dave Fleming would have rather had the game. Be over at that point, Uh, but the game wasn't over at that point, so You move on. You had your chances and You end up, uh End up losing your guy talking came to at the big home run yesterday. Oh, thank God after five punch outs. You know what do you What do you do with him? Because you can't go any further with a guy striking out five times in a game. You can't be. It's a home run is six and badly I know And and, you know, Farhaan has told us the same thing gave him four hard on the same page, right? They told us both on the show that Hey, you know, we don't look at the results as much as we look at the process and how what kind of that batch There are. But I mean LaMonte Wade has got to come up Dickerson's hot Lamont weight will now because Delta Yeah, well is built. What is there? I can get the update. I don't know, but it looked like it didn't look good. I can't imagine. He's in a play in this series. He got double that for a fact. No results. As of yet, Okay. No, no results publicly as of yet. Yeah, but when you don't wanna put any weight on it going down the stairs and you collapse after you go cross home plate. I mean, that looks like I don't want to say significant. You know, at least a sprain something you know it's baseball, and they had a good size of the size of a lead right now, and they're rolling and they've gotten through it before. So you know, I wouldn't surprising and just take a week or 10 days often? No. What would give us a chance to get weighed back up here? He plays first base. It sucks because you're thinking, okay. Longoria. That's why I never try to say well as soon as they get healthy. You never know If they were going to get healthy. One guy comes back. One guy leaves all he's about to come back. I mean, somebody else could go down. I mean, Longoria's by not too far. Too far away. But you just I mean again. You never know. So things tend to work themselves out. But, yeah, I'd like to see Wait up there. Wait. If there to be a talking to me, I know. Look, I I'm with you on this one that like I love the baseball. You go by the approach, and were you swing at where you don't swing at and all that. But at some point there's going to be results to go with it. It can't be like dude. I love this guy's approach, which you hidden 100, but I love his approach approach is incredible. I mean, at some point, he's got got happy zone ducked down. If anything mid or up, forget it, and he just happened. He's gotten three down pitches. And he's hit them all out, but he swings through every other pitch There is at the belt. He's late. J T Snow is talking about it last night as far as his mechanics with his lower body. You know, I don't know. You know, I'm not a hitting coach, but he seems like a guy who at this point, it would be best to make up an injury. Get him on a rehab stand, Get him in the minor leagues away from the stats away from the competition for a week to 10 days and then find out if you can figure out you know a plan because you got better options right now. But you would think it would take care of itself because they have better options. If he keeps going down this road, even if the at bats are of a quality nature if the results continue to not be there, as they have not, with the exception of that home run yesterday. And I just think again, it's going to take care of itself. They're not running him out there because they have to run them out. They're they're running them out there because they feel like again. He's giving you quality at bats, and it will eventually turn around. But if it doesn't turn around and you have a better option Most notably LaMonte Wade, which is kind of Houston. Him and this, you know, sort of binary discussion. And he'll eventually come up and he will eventually take over and talk man will have to go and figure out what's problematic for him with his swing. He'll go have to do that in the minors..

"Mother Father is out here, which leads me Polly to my first question of the day on a bright and early on a Tuesday morning is that Tommy? Is there a new Jimmy and Joey by the bay this week on Jimmy and Joey by the baby Jimmy is called a mother, Father by Tom I mean, seriously, how great you need. You may need to get Tony and Shannon going for a new episode. So you see this whole story about the Brady Tell me about it. So, um, here it was, it opened with this TV show. I guess he's going to be doing this show called the shop. Who's this? Brady called HBO's The Shopping. Learned his lesson after that thing with the kid and everything he should have learned his lesson. Remember, he was under heavy fire for just kissing his son? Yeah. He's going back for more radium like I'm not doing any more TV. He's going back for more. HBO's show called the Shop and it's. It's a clip of him during his free agency last year. Yeah, and in the tes He reveals how he felt about being snubbed by one team so there he doesn't say the team, he said, But one team said no to him, and his quote was you're sticking with that mother, Father. And now we know we spend our day speculating. Was he talking about mixed Robiskie? Was he talking about Mother Cam Newton? Was he talking about Jamis? Winston? Or was he talking about Jimmy Garoppolo? Which is unbelievable is, you know? Have you ever said that by the way about okay you're friends with because theoretically, Tommy and Jimmy are our civil And then when he's out of the room, you're like, Yeah. I was so glad that mother fathers out of the room, But sometimes Mother father can be like a term of endearment. Like, you know, you can be like that's true what you guys were doing last night, but I was at this mother Father rags is true stuff. Got crazy over there. Very true. Mother, Father it really It's contextual. You know what? I like that? Yeah. Where you just, uh yeah, it'll be like, Oh, Joe Perry that mother father can play. You know what? Saying Like you, it depends on the usage. Confess. I haven't seen the show. It's LeBron and Maverick Carter show. I haven't seen it. I got it. I guess I gotta get. I guess I got to see that in the hitman's bodyguard. I would recommend it didn't That's another one. You want to watch the kids in the room only because it's quite violent, but it's cartoonish. It's fun. It's a really funny movie. The first one copes You got to watch the first one. Now I wonder if it and your thumbs up in the second. The shop is the one that Draymond Green's been on a few times. Yeah, anyway, so you could just like other fathers? Yeah. LeBron So, yeah. Just no NBA last night. Either she had no John Derek Carr to he was talking about. Yeah, no NBA. No, no, no, no. No NBA, no giants part. Did you watch Padres Dodgers at all? Not too much of that. Actually, I watch what I saw. A little bit of diagram diagram got frisked yesterday. Did I patted him down? And he responded by just throwing like 101 passed everything. I think I'm clean. Let me go get some more strikes. No doing his thing. So what I did Murphy. I dove back into this. One of the few TV shows that I watch like, and I'm totally alone with. This is Animal kingdom. They advertise it a lot during the NBA playoffs. You guys seen it on T and T. Uh, bank robbers? Kind of what you do is force Whittaker wonder, though. No, no, no, That's godfather. Okay. All right. That's a good one to who's an animal kingdom. Then there's some sort of Ellen Barkin was like the big name and like all of her sons and nephews are all like these criminals, And they do these these heists and stuff like that. It's kind of like, um, You know, the Point break. It's like a theatrical TV version of Point Break a little bit better than point break up while that you're into that shut out, right, I know, but I'm sucked and say We started watching back episodes of that last night, man anyway. Well, yeah, the animal kingdom. Who's with me, Marcus, you would love Animal Kingdom. Check it out, Rob a few banks, you know, I mean, go on Dodgers Padres and, uh, probably I just had died to hit the hay early. Yeah, I did, too. I did the same thing, a little fatigued of like, which were Murphy's. I went to bed early last night. Got a really, really good night's sleep. Still kind of groggy like I'm still like It's almost like the more I slept the garage here I am. Sometimes I do better on light sleep. It's weird. I don't know We did the morning practice yesterday. Now what happened up there? Well, I mean, it's good and it's bad because you get the kids out of here. You're like I got morning practice. I do it again. And their Yeah, it's good. It's bad, but probably don't mess with your body clock. My body clock is attuned to that sandwich at 10 for that nap at a certain time, like a racehorse. And, dude, when I messed with it yesterday, man, I was walking around like I just taking a transcontinental flight. More like an international flight. I like really, I felt like when you fly to Dublin. That's how you feel. You walk off your heads like Whoa. Where am I? Man? I got no idea where I am. So I fell for most of the day. You know it throws me And maybe this was a factor for you. The big thing for me now, especially now that I'm, uh, we've been doing this so long Your body clock all changes and adjust your schedule. I'm usually the lunch like in the 11 o'clock. Our question, Paulie, If I go into Was no commute. What you're doing The pre 11 am didn't waste any time. Let's just overseas in the fridge. My my family was quite baffled. There's like Are you eating lunch at 10? 30? I'm like, what else can I understand? I know it's just the way it is. But now and you can't get to lunch day because of a practice or something. Oh, everything goes haywire a mess. It's a mess that it was a financial planning out. Yeah, And now we're planning on some sort of contingency plan today. What you gotta do You gotta power Eat before the practice. Candace is going to bring a sandwich something he's going to bring a sandwich to meet me. Help Help! What? A loving wife my Goodness, anyway, even after the screen door miss up. Well, yeah. Do we get that came home to find her laboring over the screen door. It? Yeah, I know. Head you get involved. I just dropped her hands and knees and start like pulling a whole long time. Just leave it alone. Yeah. Just change the subject. Leave the room. You call. Think about something that the right way You got to know how to deal? Yeah. Look at the net net here. We fixed the deck, but I kicked the screen door open. So, uh, Anyway, guys made some moves yesterday. No more lamonte Wade. Polly is kind of sad, like, come on Jason Foster, But you've got to bring back a dick in a rough they come back and the Giants get going in Anaheim tonight. How about this start to have 6 38 pm 6 38. You know? Yeah, right. My dad was big on that He was big on the What time we What time we leavin to 31 big on that and I've adopted and I find myself because I'm the carpool guy For all these kids who living on on the team. What time I get what time you get me, coach 9 53. That's what time I tell them. And I try to nail it to probably try to pull up right at 9 23 Anyway, 6 38 tonight and then day game tomorrow And then here come the A's. This weekend. All right before the next segment. We should all pat each other down just to make sure that we're all within the confines and regulations. Uh, kind of a. It's just provocative thought there. I'll tell you what, Murphy, if you're uncomfortable, you just go ahead and pat me that. Don't worry about it. I remember..

"It was a little Oh, Marva skill like when that pop up would go up and Omar would knock his hat off and runs, you know, backwards looking over his head so that the hat one screen, you know, looking back as he's running towards the outfield wall to see the ball better coming over his head. And Johnny did that right away, You know, to show up that nice, Erin that headband He knocked the helmet off and he took off. And I said, Uh oh, Here we go. And, um you know, his sprint speed, I was told was just as good as Lamonte Wade. They had him rounding the bases. And I got that from the analytics department. I guess that someone tweeted that out there and, you know, I had almost stopped him because I was so worried that he was going to pull a muscle. How you know, because when you go 90 ft as hard as you can. It's uh it's not as dangerous as is going three times that that's what he had to do. So I was so concerned that he might pull a muscle at this longer. He kept going and I almost stopped them a little bit thirds. I thought Pereira was going to catch it. You know, he probably should have a message. So I gave him a quick, you know, hand like, slow down, and then I continue to wave him. I tell you, he didn't miss it Be here is one of our best base runners of the year. He didn't stop completely didn't quit. He saw me and then he saw me wave him, And he just He just downshifted for about a half second, And then he continued, and then on the way home, I knew he was going to make it easy. I started chasing him down the line because I didn't. I wanted him to take it easy. And he was still going on. And I was screaming. Easy, Easy, easy, but he didn't hear me. I loved it. I saw you yelling at him as you as you went down the line. You know, we'll go to school with the professor on this Sunday morning. A couple of things one. Crawford sort of got caught in No man's land on the ball that Harper dictum in right field. But Croft played it correctly would take us through that just a little bit. Yeah, You know, there's some plays on the field that just happened so quick, And that's your biggest fear as the third base coach in and runner at a base. It's when it's a line drive right now. You're you're taught to go back to tag. Which he which he didn't do original because it looked like the ball was going to be in there. Um, and it's a tough read because it happens fast. It's not like a high fly ball, so he went off the base. Then he started to go back as as Harper was getting close to the ball, because You know, you don't want to get doubled off, taken off to home, and he catches the ball. So as he started back, you know that By this time he saw the ball just landed in front of them. And now you have a you know, a guy with a plus arm. Standing and shallow right field and he has to go because Duggar had a good read on it, and he was coming the third and, uh, odd, just hightailed it home, and you know, there's really not a lot of coaching you can do at that moment. This particular plays like that which is the most difficult for a runner. You think about your standing on third, and there's a line drive to left, and it's going to either be caught by the shoe strings or or it's going to land. You know. What do you do? You've got to make sure it's down first, and then hopefully you can score, but I've actually seen Line drives in that manner with the guy in third, Clinton scored because he had to wait so long and then boom. The guy has the ball and and he's standing real shallow and you can't score. So cross had to go because he saw Duggar was on his way here. And Harper's throw was offline, and he made it by great play. Great play are one more here. Uh, yes, they Archie Bradley was complaining about the mound. And my question was, Where was Greg Elliot? The grounds crew took him like 15 minutes. Where were they? What was going on? I think they're getting a Pete's coffee and a cha cha ball at that point in time. Um you know the communication part of it with this Covid is a little bit off. You know they have their little area where they hang out. Usually most of them are down in the clubhouse, but they do. They do go back to their location. But you know, the radios weren't working the way they were supposed to. And and I just took a little longer than normal, but we'll make sure You know that? That doesn't happen again. We have the lines of communication correct here. So what was Bradley complaining about? Oh, I don't know. You know everybody, uh, you know, steps different when you know when you land. Usually it's the landing point. I didn't really watch because I was trying to find the grounds crew myself. I don't know if I had to do with the rubber where his you know, balanced foot was on the rubber. Where problem most like this, where his landing guys digging that out all the time. In both locations and he probably he probably just wanted that, you know, dressed up a little, but I'm not. I'm not sure I didn't really watch the work they did on the mountain. Yeah, well, I was looking for Greg Elliot, but I never saw him. So, uh, does a great job the groundskeeper, But it was one of those moments that what's going on here? So that's what part of baseball what can I tell you? Yeah, it happens. Let's bring Bill and Bill. Good morning. How are you? Hey, Good morning, gentlemen. How are you guys do and I'm glad to hear Ron. He's had to ballpark getting ready for this final game against Philly. Uh, both of you doing good. Yeah, that's so far so good of Father's day. And, uh, it's a Sunday at the Ballpark and Zach Eflin. And what about? Whoa, What about on the bill? What about on the giant side? Sammy long today? How about that? Well, I'll tell you what. I'm excited for him. I'm glad he's starting the game instead of the opener. I think he'll be fine Run. You don't want to ask around a question here. You know, in that Arizona series, Castellanos came in with a great glove. And this was before Yes, hit the Grand Slam and they changed it to a black love. Now there's a lot of teams that the pictures are using colorful gloves. Is this something that you guys saw or was that just mainly from the umpire? Great question, Bill and Happy Father's Day to you, but extra. Yeah, No, it's you can't have a great glove. Um, and it probably has to do with the gray uniforms on the road. Um, it's so you can't a pitcher cannot use a great glove and no matter what, so that was, you know, you can have a colorful gloves. You could have multi colored There was a point where it had to be two thirds one particular color..

"Pitch, maybe a different thought about hitting the glove busters, always after telling him the direction of what he wants to do, But he was off all the fastball wasn't popping today change up. He missed a lot with he missed lower that And then the slider was here nor there, so he's got to get it going His last four outings when you were when you're pitching. How did you handle that? One when you didn't have your best stuff, and you had to just gut through it. I mean, what do you do? I mean, that's not easy to do, it turns and I'll tell you what Bear turns into a mental game because you've got to talk your way through it. How do I hit that corner? How do I get that next pitch down and at the same time you're trying to throw strikes? And your mind is trying to throw an outside corner and get up, throwing the ball down the middle. And I mean, you look out of three innings, six hits, He gave up a home run to Hoskins. The error, of course, gave an unearned run, but he just wasn't on. He had a hit by pitch A couple walks. He loaded them up in the first inning. Then he finally got out of it. He has not pitched consistently his last four outings, and that's why I said, You know, it's last four outings. 18 innings 19 runs He's given up so far, so he's going to have to go to the drawing board. He's got another day off this week, so that might help them. They have a couple days off Another day's rest. Maybe to look at video. Maybe he can pick something up that, uh He's doing wrong, and hopefully he can complement that before his next start, And I know you have other people online, but just really quickly my talk no options left. What the hell do they do with him? Well, they're stuck with them. And of course, they're trying to use a different approach with his hands and you're getting to the ball. It's just not working. He's scuffling. He struck out again today. He's he's on under 200. He's trying like hell. But you know what you got? Lamont Way, Junior who is just hitting the cover off the ball, Duggars hitting the ball, you stream ski. And they're running those lefties out there. You have to. You can't throw a guy that was struggling, and they did earlier, but it was always an out. It was always an hour. Sure, he got the Grand Slam in Texas, and he's caught two great catches. But you've got to get some offense out of an outfielder in Lamont way Junior is definitely come up behind. You have to remember something about talking is, you know he works the count and when he was at the Yankees in 2019 here you had, like 16 17 home runs, but he's known for working the count, and that's why I think he's still there. Yes, it is. And that's why I think they changed his grip. And and the last thing I want to talk about you said Look, Lamonte Wade. What a revelation about getting How did Twinkies get this guy up? You know, I don't know that Sean Anderson, the Giants gave up and then Sean Anderson discount outrighted and optioned out and Rangers picked them up. So when you look at this trade who got the better deal, Farhaan got to deal with that, no doubt about it lasting at least What the hell happened with the Giants Ground crew when I'd like to know, too. That was that's pretty good. Berra. That's pretty funny. Nobody knew where they were. Where are they? They're usually sitting down right next to the dugout. That was kind of strange because those guys are so good. They're great people. They work their tail off, and I was surprised them anywhere because I know these guys and I guarantee they're they're wondering. Wow, the one time we weren't there. They needed us, But they're good people. I'm going to tell you they take care of that. Alright, Bear. Take care. You too. All right, Let's go to Michael in Redwood City. Defense. Defense defense? Yeah, The Giants are playing pretty good defense. They made a big error today. Mike, what do you got? Yeah, It just seems bills. Some of these guys are getting tired. We've seen do bond make errors on back to back place. Solano's made some really nice place this week, but he's also kicked the ball a few times. And just barely gotten guys. You know, they play a lot of these guys in different positions and moving around. I'm just wondering if some of them just need a break and they've got you know a bunch of roster problems coming up. In the next week or so, with Dickerson coming back, so talk man really has to step it up before Dickerson comes back. And what do you do with Darren Rob? Um There's lots of questions there. But as a giant fan, I got to say, you know if I'm five and one this week from Monday to Saturday, I'm not happy. Then we lost today. But hey five and one is five and one You know, like one of the one of the things I look at it his last weekend they win two games out of Washington against Washington scored three runs. That was it three runs. And when you start looking at what they've done here, they had 37 runs against Arizona and five last night six today another 11 out of that's 48 runs in six games. You can't really complain about that when you start looking at it. Exactly And you know they've got 45 winds right now, uh and we're not to the end of June that projects well over 90 wins that's going to get them in the playoffs. Hey, we got to be grateful, and I don't think they're afraid of anybody. You were talking a little earlier about the 2nd 3rd of the season. Being a little harder than the 1st 3rd. But They can beat anybody they go up against right now. I think they have that confidence. I was at that game Tuesday night. Um, when? Yeah, slam Yeah. Well, I was in all five wins so far this week. So so you didn't go today? Is that what you're trying to tell me? Yeah. You know some some ccs things going on today, so I couldn't Get out of that, But, well, Mike tomorrow if they can pull out that wind tomorrow, That would be one hell of a home stand, especially taking two out of Philly sweep in Arizona. You know, it's so difficult to win four games. It doesn't matter what team you're playing with. They fought And like You said that Tuesday night game was one of the most exciting games. I've watching a couple years and and today, you know they were in this game except the Phillies bullpen. Shut him out. Right. And one other question. You know you're talking about Alex would before they've got days off on Monday and Thursday this week, right? Maybe he just needs to skip of start. I know they're sort of starter and doing a bullpen game with Sam Long tomorrow. But if they skip, um wouldn't the rotation for one turn that might be what it needs to straighten him out. It might put that extra day. My to you know, you know, he's frustrated. I watched the post game He was upset. He was angry. He was just didn't felt. You know, you saw the little, uh, talk between him and Kappler in the in the dugout. He wanted to go back out there. He was trying to to pitch the capper..

"Well and over at all. Debates. Chris Bureau, Great guy, Sammy Dale and Paul Mina Mina ceviche. I want to make sure I shout out to them and These are very special people in the world. All right, Terry Crowley. Good morning. How are you doing? Quite well, Marty, How are you, sir? Pretty good. Pretty good. And you know, it's I've had so much fun with the show today, Bill and I've been all over the place with Henri Schoeman and All sorts of people. Are we getting too excited about LaMonte, Wade, Vossler and Duggar? I mean, let's face it, You know, they're got a long way to go. And this is the major leagues in the pictures. Figure out what you can't do. Are we too excited about these guys? Well, that's a good question. And I think it's an important question. Considering these guys are performing well above expectations right now, Marty and well above the level they've ever performed. In the major leagues. But at the same time what I would point to is the guys at the top of the roster. Brandon Crawford, Buster Posey, Evan Longoria before he got hurt. They were all having career years. It was part of this identity, part of this organizational philosophy that the Giants just continue improving at the major league level. They continue developing their major league players. Now we're seeing the role guys and LaMonte Wade and Jason Vossler and Stephen Duggar step up and make those improvements so well. I think that it's fair to say that they won't perform like this all season. It is realistic to think that they could all have career years and that's what you need when you have a special season and so far we've seen a really special year out of so many different players on this team. Murray Well, it's been fun. I mean, Duggar to me. I don't see anybody moving them out of center field. And absolutely amazed at Wade how he has grown in the last couple of weeks, and I brought this up the other day. I'll throw it at you, The Ostrovsky home run that you can circle that day. But for some, there's something about that day in that 98. And these guys look different after that. Now you're absolutely right. I said it on the post game show that night I was filling in for Willard and I said at the end of this, don't you fill in for but, Hey, I'm I'm anybody left there. Anybody left? Hey, anytime Anyone needs a day off, I raised my hand. Look, I'm a role player here. Now you call Jeremiah Crow Correct and said, By the way, you want to take some time off, I'll do your job. Exactly exactly. So anytime anyone you know, calls out or calls in sick, I volunteer. I step right up to the plate because I'm the role player on the 26th man on this can be our roster, Marty, but you know, I go back to that night and I said on the post game show that at the end of the season October 3rd win 1 62 is wrapped up wherever the Giants are, and I do believe that they will be a playoff team. They will circle that game. There will be 456 different games. They'll circle on the calendar, and they can point to is the reason bill that they got to where they are. And I think that That Mikey Stransky home run. It was so important, not just because in the moment it got them a win against the D backs team that they should have swept and should have beaten, But it also taught them a lesson. Seven runs is not too big of a deficit they can overcome and that early game dugout chatter when they're facing a deficit. It now matters because it's convincing that they can come back and win a game like that Bill. Absolutely carry and you know that your Stransky home run had so much excitement in Northern California. Anybody that was wearing the orange and black that was just so exciting of a moment of the game. And I want to do tell you carry all the spots that you've been filling and came here. You've been knocking it out, my friend. I've been listening doing a lot. You're doing a great job when you fill in, So I just want listening to too much. You've got to get a life, Bill. No, no, I'm this guy's on at five in the morning and anyone great Marty, Marty, Bill and I bill and I don't read we listen. That's something that's our thing. We're good. You can assume the Giants no breeding out at midnight. You could be on a midnight and five AM and I'm concerned about Bill If he's listening to all this stuff, Bill is, uh, he's constantly providing He was on the show last night at 11 30, Marty, he was hard. He didn't even know that sunscreen and rosin we had a great time. Was sleepwalking, or was he? Well, he was He was getting ready for bed in his full Giants uniform as you have that goes to sleep on the weekend. I had my giant pajamas on listening to you. And, yeah, it was a great little talk. But no, I tell you yesterday last night, you had a whole host of good callers, and you know you should. It's excitement Marty's been doing in the radio for 20 years. He knows when the teams went in. The phone lines are are hot, and that's what's been great about it. Postgame shows two for myself on weekends, Marty you and I talk about it when they're not winning their cold. You're begging for a phone call, but giant fans are on board. They're seeing this team. And I really believe guys, both you these last five games, they've just taken off and it's been in front of the giant fans. This offense has just been jelling one through nine guys coming in pinch hitting..

"Alright, Nice to have you back with us. It is Aaron Nola, right hand there on the hill for the Phillies today. As he goes against the lefty Alex Wood, who makes us 2/100 Major League appearance today is 150th Major league start. He's 30 years old. Six and three on the year. Bruce Jenkins. Good morning. How are you? Hey, doing Well, Marty. Thanks. How was the trip to Oregon? It's very good. My daughter graduated from Oregon, Uh, four ft in four years there, and maybe it's difficult with the pandemic, But, yeah, you know, the grabs the ceremony was kind of stiff. The parents couldn't even get in, but they had a nice parade in one of the streets with the kid. Kids, and we got up close with Molly and got a little fist bump. And it's a nice video. And and then some good, good. Uh, you know, social contacts all through the weekend. It's very, very memorable and very touching. Very good. Glad. Glad you're back. Well, in your absence, uh, we had the Washington series where they didn't score many runs. Then all of a sudden, all hell broke loose as they like to say when the Diamondbacks came in, and Bruce what? A four games with the Diamondbacks? What can you say? Yeah, It's obviously a really good thing when they come into your town, Whatever town it is, you're going to sweep them and then you figure it out. What happens from that? I mean, literally, um, but, you know, Still, I mean, if the Washington series had maybe believing maybe this maybe this incredible run of hitting is is finally coming to an end. It was inevitable that No, I mean this team, is it? The fun never stops with this team, And that was, uh, there was a series. They really felt like they needed to sweep the Arizona series. But but they did. And you know, a lot of lot of terrific things happen. Typifying the season that they're having. Well, it's uh, evolution right in front of us. Bruce's team is evolving day by day, and you look at LaMonte Wade and Stephen Duggar. Jason Vossler can swing the bat. Uh, the veterans are still doing it. But you know, we've We've been down this road before to watch the team sort of come together and to me the Diamondback victory with the straps his slam. Gave them such confidence that they look like a different team today. Yeah, they really do. I mean, you know, they came from so far back, and And if you're watching this team when you start believing that anything is possible, any great play any clutch hit his possible And tell you they've been so fun to watch. I mean, you mentioned you know the Basel er I mean, this is just It was just one of these guys that that they pick up but he can really hit. He's a hard hitting left handed bad. And you know, weight has showed off his throwing arm. He he can. He could feel that you've got you know the occasional miracle from talk, man. And you have no idea what these people were in spring training and you know, I gotta I gotta headed to, uh To anxiety for his his, uh, just his wisdom. You know, he was known for this with the Dodgers and Max Muncy and everything else, but he's got an eye for guys who might be able to help this team in specific ways. They're not going to be Mike Trout or Juan Soto. But they can do things and then and Gabe Kapler's has been very good at putting guys in positions where they can be successful. You know, they're pinch hitting record is remarkable. And just just on and on and anchored by a really good, mostly veteran rotation. There you have it. You know Cueto was fun last night, wasn't he? I mean, if you're looking for entertainment, how about he? He says I don't want the jacket. First of all, Yeah, that was good and then weigh. Just crushes one, and he scores from first and he was moving. He was I'm glad they showed showed him as well as the track of the ball because he was he was moving. You know, You see this guy in the clubhouse when we could go in the clubhouse and you're thinking if you didn't quite know who it was, Who is that? It doesn't look like any kind of ballplayer. But You know, he says they're like Bartolo Cologne. The guy's an athlete, you know, and, uh, you've got to move in there. He got around the You know, he scored from first. I love Wotus sending him that was great in itself, but Just another. You know that the Giants that they they believe that they just believe in themselves and that that was a great moment. And it wasn't It was a hilarious outing for Cueto. I mean, Is like a 78 pitch at bat there. And and what? I'm sorry. Who was Arctic? Who is that guy? Who? Moreira Google Herrera Herrera? Yeah, and he falls off the mound, and then he comes back and still kissing. Really? Yeah. Tremendous. Every night every night. You know you could write your game story, and Jody. John Shea was great, he wrote. He just figured I'm just going to write about quite all tonight. But every night almost you could. You could build your game story around one guy and you know his entire game. What? He didn't his entire game and some of the insight behind it, And that's that's when you know you guys up in good going. Yeah, You know, Henry said something this morning. That was good. First. I think Henry should have his own show. I think he really, really terrific on the radio. You know, I point out that they're chewing up the secondary kind of pitchers. Guy like Velasco was last night. You know, 50 pitches and two innings Amero Kelly 40 pitches in the inning. They get these guys If they're not the aces, they get these guys in positions where they knock them out, and they wear them down and Henry said William Majors to say, Well, you know the so get his Don't worry about it. It's the other guys that I'm going to take care of. And that's kind of what the Giants do. Yeah, absolutely. You know, Spahn and Burdette will get you but you better beat Carleton. Willy, you know? Sorry, fans. I'm going back a few years. Trowbridge or join? Yeah. Bob, Bob, Bob. You'll, you know? No, but but, Yeah, you know the Giants when they do come up against the ace. They're not necessarily trying to work a walk..

"You knew it was coming. And I've said this before I said it yesterday. You cannot manage against the Giants in a traditional way. You can't try to squeeze that fifth inning out of your starter if he's starting to get hit. You got to get him out. And you have to play these games. Sort of, like their playoff games. I tell you, Marty, you tweeted that out yesterday when he said Thanks, David Ross for falling asleep, and I was writing notes down and I went. Oh, my goodness, Marty, you think of the same thing I'm dead. I'm like this guy had no clue with Lamonte Wade Jr came up. He had no clue, but yeah, exactly. I was like, Thank you. Yeah, I loved it. So David Ross, thank you so much. That's a rookie manager, you know? And And, of course, the bullpens getting chewed up a little bit, But that was the turning point in the game. Uh, Stewart, the righty. Wade got the base hit. And the Giants went up 3 to 2 and really, never look back. All right. We've got a great show this morning. Bill. You've got Bill.
