"At Shake Shack. Where is it Chick-fil-A? You just really getting chicken? I obviously go Shake Shack here. That's like France. We have friends who own Chick-fil-A's. So if I want Chick-fil-A on a Sunday, not really a problem, I can get it. How are you breaking news right now? I mean, I'm not bragging. That's on a Sunday? It might sound like I'm bragging. You're not the only member of the CBS. Community that can do this, by the way. Our own David Cobb. His wife works for Chick-fil-A I believe. As she's a Chick-fil-A influencer, I think that's what she's making. Maybe you misunderstood what I said. My Friends own Chick-fil-A's. Okay. Franchises. They own franchises. They're breaking in on a Sunday. Tossing on the fryer. I can get a Chick-fil-A tray whenever I want. Whenever I want. All right, there we go. And yet, and yet, you betray those close to you and pick a Shake Shack. If you want the pole will be up for 24 hours. This is an SEC pre. You know what? Chick-fil-A, SEC preview pod. I actually think that makes a ton of sense that we were talking about Kyle often in Florida. By far our longest conference preview and I do want to do what we've done in every single other one and legitimately give a mention of every single other team. Let's just stroll through the bottom half of this. You go ahead. I'm going to daydream about. Okay, let's go. I'm just going to do it. I got almost next. I got a 55 overall in the country there. Matthew morrell is the name to know. He averaged north of 15 points in the final month last season. I think he is the dark horse to be like a first team all SEC guy. He will be the MVP of this group. Why does it all miss do a promo? Mister morrell in the big steppers. Maybe they will. How do you know that's not the case? It's a free idea for you folks down in Oxford. And the big steppers. Just keep an eye on old mess because if they don't dance, you know, I'm not saying Kermit Davis deserves it. It feels maybe hot CD, you know, we'll see how it goes. If they're competitive in the SEC, they were bad. They were bad last year. They were hurt last year. Top two scores barely played. I know. Just, you know, I got a middle of the league if they're there. You know, maybe Kermit survives. If they're bad, like bottom four in the league and then they're gonna, there's gonna be another coaching change there. Then we'll ask it to a lot of these schools with new faces and new places. I got LSU 62 overall and a lot of that is due to KJ Williams coming from Murray state who was a power conference player thriving at the mid major level. There's a couple of Mary state guys that came over. McMahon billed out a good staff there. I'm a little ambitious on him, but a lot of this was also tied to, yeah, you know, SEC will be top heavy, but there's going to be some teams that break into this. Like when we look at the net torvik Evan Maya, Ken palm, Sagar and we're going to see a few of these teams in the top 70 of those rankings, even if they're not competing for at large bids. So I put LSU in that company overall. And then I've got it from an SEC standpoint in my overall rankings. Then I've got a significant gap there. The next highest team after LSU in the high 60s, you scroll all the way down to get to South Carolina at 87. Frank Martin's out, Lamont Paris, who just took Chattanooga to the tournament, he's in Gigi Jackson is the big, you know, big player there. It was the number one player in the class of 23. He reclassified was number 6 and 22. Let's not put too much on his shoulders here. Caroline is not going to be and then subway tournament team or anything like that. But I mentioned to see what he does there. DD Jackson in South Carolina feels a little bit like Anthony Edwards at Georgia. Yes, and he won't be and he won't be as good. So that's actually I hadn't considered that GP. Bingo bango from you right there. Then I'm speaking of Georgia, got Georgia 93rd overall. And Georgia is by most as seen as bottom two team in the SEC. I went off of Mike white on this, okay? Because yeah, the team was 6 and 26 last season, final year under Tom crean. But Mike white has won 66% of his games in his career, and that was at Louisiana tech and then that Florida combined, you know, they're not going to be an NIT team, but I'm going to say that he, you know, he does all right for himself here in the first year. I've got the narrowly ahead of Mississippi state who's 97 overall. Christians. And I even admit in the story, I could slip up on that one. Like I've got Mississippi 97, maybe Jan's immediately does damage makes moves. Has the bulldogs, you know, kind of a listless directionless program trying to push its way into the NIT. Maybe there are top 65 teams. I could whisk on that. I got him 97. And then the only two teams I didn't have ranked in my top 101 were vandy and Missouri we'll see, I wanted to, frankly, I wanted to make room for a few mid major teams that project as clear cut champions in their conference. I think iota will be better than Missouri this year. So I have iona ranked, and I don't have Missouri rank. Now, Missouri is 41. That's not, I noticed that myself. If you're 41 at Kim pom, you are in at large contention. If you're 41st at Kim pom on March 1st, you are in at large bid contingent. So, you know, I don't know if they'll be able to live up to those expectations, but the computer number next to Missouri's name is something that I noticed. 47 at a tour 41 slow but speeding for your mizzou tigers there at Ken pom Isaiah Moseley is the big transfer from Missouri state. You know, top 5 top three score of anyone in the transfer portal there. So we'll see how he handles the jump up Kobe Brown returning is significant as well. Dennis Gates is the new is a new coach there. And then Vanderbilt just hasn't yet gotten there. You know, under stackhouse, maybe it does. Jordan Wright is a big time returner of the Lewis Scott Pippen junior, someone's got to finish 13 someone's got to finish 14 the SEC. So that's an overall scan. We agree. It's going to be it's going to be a pretty fun, pretty entertaining league. There will be a surprise at least one. I'm mentioned to see who it will be. Let's get to our predictions on player coach and freshman of the year. What do you got?

"Carrie booth is not a finished product. We talked about how JP australis still growing into his body. Ironically, those guys are going to be teammates next year, Brewster academy. Neither one elected to reclassify. For Carrie booth, that course of action might have made more sense because he is not as far along physically. He's got to keep filling out. The reason for the intrigue is the overlap of size and skill. Obviously, he comes from good genes. But with his front court size and his ability to stretch the floor, he shows some glimpses of athleticism when he's in open space, but doesn't yet have a strong enough body to play through contact. And the other thing with Kerry booth is he is as high of an has as high of a basketball intellect as you would expect for a GM son. He's a very smart player in the front court. So just like Australia, you can run offense with him. Carrie booth, not a finished product, his best days are ahead of him. If you're deciding who the best player is right now, you're going to be lower on him. If you're deciding who the best prospect is long-term, which is what I think evaluators and college coaches are doing, you are going to be higher on his long-term projection. So because his production is longer, we could have a situation where maybe what his pool of programs recruiting him could that expand even more in your opinion? Yeah, I don't like he's not a one and done candidate in my mind. He needs time to grow out to fill out part of me to grow and fill out. He's got a little hitch in the way he shoots, even though he makes threes, you know, his even his gate when he's running the floor. That could be more fluid. He's just a guy who needs time. And that's not for big kids. That's pretty normal. I'm going to go ahead and play outside the top 102 four 7 sports rankings. I couldn't help but notice him. He'll also feature into a story that I'm going to have for later this week, but we are one out of Pennsylvania, Thomas hawke. Come on. Yeah, yeah. And the best part about this is the way he is that he spells his name, and he pronounces it like the bird, like hawk. If I'm as Thomas hawk, but it's a. He seems, again, I'm trying to give a little highlights the guys who stood out to me. He's one who clearly stood out to me. A lot of potential and frankly, I say this, but he just seems underrated. He's literally underrated. I don't know where he is. If he is, that's on me. And I'll say this and obviously he's committed to Florida. He's a guy that could have gone in 2022 because he graduated. He's electing to go back and do a post grad year. Two years ago, he was 6 foot 7. He has now been measured at 6 foot ten. That is super relevant because with the way he moves at 6 foot ten, now you're talking about a potentially highly versatile front court defender. And he's not a guy who's going to go out and get you 20 consistently. In fact, I saw him play 5 high school games this season. He didn't have double figures in any of the 5 games, literally. His high school coach and I were literally laughing about the fact that his high school coach said to me, he said, Florida, you were probably going nuts. He sucked every time you saw him play. So it was, but kept growing, maintained his mobility at every stretch, he plays the right way. He is a guy who impacts winning. He's a Marco Jackson's teammate. He's content to move the ball. He can finish around the rim. He's got shooting potential and you're talking about a super versatile front court defender. So if he hits and that's the kind of term that we don't often use in high school, even though we should, if he hits, he could hit big because you're talking about 6 ten front court guy who knows how to play who moves the ball who has some shooting potential to develop and is going to be able to be switchable defensively. And that's a prototype that does pan out long term. So not going to be the type of loud stat stuffing performance. It gets you all the accolades in high school or AAU, but has markers that translate to potential success in the future. Last player out of the greater Baltimore area. I guess maybe it might be a Marilyn lane here. He's a big, maybe 6 ten Derek queen. I believe he's going to be at montverde down in Florida for this upcoming season. It seems like still something of a project, but you couldn't help but notice him, at least I couldn't when I watched him play how much development is there still to go versus finished product having said that like you can clearly see there's like development to go, what's the rundown on him and do you think he'll eventually be a terrapin? Well, he's a 24. So he's got two years left of high school and he was, he was a guy who was recognized at a really early age. In fact, he was number one in the country as a sophomore. I'm sorry, the tail end of his freshman year. So he was in COVID, I remember there was the first NIB C event at Saint James in Virginia. He was there and it was like the only game we were able to see live and the freshman was dominating and really, you know, just jumping into people's field of vision in terms of a really intriguing long-term prospect in the same way Cooper flag and Cameron boozer did this past week. Transferred to mod Verde, had some growing pains this past year, but he's still got two more years. He's older for 2024, so it is possible you see him go up to 23 and kind of follow that gg, Jackson pap that's not, you know, I don't have that on any authority. I'm just saying based on his age, that's a possibility. He's a finesse dick. He's highly skilled. He has got phenomenal hands. I mean, this doesn't matter where you throw it. He catches it. And that also makes him an elite rebounder. He's a passer. He's got really good footwork. I'd like to see that touch start to develop into a little bit more floor spacing. We haven't seen that as much as I thought. And he's got to continue to work on his conditioning. He's made really good strides in the last year, but it's a work in progress. And as I said, just a rising junior at this point in time. Adam, I barely know what to say here. This has been such a productive, free flowing conversation with no long asides, no talk about camo fighting, dodo birds, leaky black. Is that how you guys usually roll? Well, you never really never know. Last year, when we did this 50 plus 15 cycle on the tab, and I hear dodo birds, I'm like, yep, plus skip 15. Skip 15. You might not be the only one, my man. Last year, Christmas about 20 minutes of this podcast absolutely slandering Jalen Durham. Now, that somewhat age well, because he said he's never going to be the number one pick in the draft, but there was none of that on this on this year's edition. Before we get out of here, for those people that do care about the rankings, and let's just focus on 23, what is our timeline on when two four 7 will refresh and we'll get a new arrangement, a new Echelon, if you will, on where those guys stand. So I don't think there has been a definitive date established just yet, but it certainly is in the coming weeks, because we have the recruiting period is over now. Everybody is shutting it down. For me, that means just because I'm kind of a basketball nerd. I'm going to go back and watch all the film and as I said, try and dive into whatever I missed. But I think certainly in the coming weeks, you will see an updated rankings that will be potentially brand new and obviously have a new number one. Now that Gigi Jackson is in the class of 2022. GT Jackson is in the class of 2022. He will be playing college basketball at South Carolina, Lamont Paris got himself a high profile commit. We'll see how that works. Adam finkelstein is the director of scouting.

"They've already had their hearing. So the Memphis, which is not FBI related, the James wiseman thing. Memphis is on a track to be resolved before Kansas. That's been the case the whole time. Arizona still has months to go. LSU still has months to go. The hope I think with Kansas was that this would be resolved by the time the season started, I guess there's still a window for that, but they have not gone and faced the jury here and had self sit down in Indianapolis. We wait and see when that happens. All right, that's the news peg. Let's go big picture here. Our annual PCM special that's going to be frankly the best one yet. All right, so mokin coincidentally enough, a program that obviously Kansas is quite connected to. Mocan, short for hello, Missouri, Kansas. They win peace jam. We'll get to that in a second. I do want to, I feel like there are actually multiple news pegs coming out of peach jam at them. Absolutely. What do we have to start with Gigi Jackson only? Now, it was expected. He was going to reclassify and then he was going to commit to South Carolina. So we can take this number of ways. I'm going to let the floor is yours, my man, but let me cue you up this way. One, Gigi Jackson, reclassifying. Is he still in your mind now the number one player in 22? And two, for South Carolina fans that are just about this, big picture, how impactful do you think he's going to be with the gamecocks this season? I say that because in talking to a few coaches, some of the feedback I got was interesting talent, but some coaches who saw them saw him aren't even convinced that he's going to be like a top 25 level player in college next season. But do you disagree with that assessment from some coaches who saw them in person? Well, there's two levels to this evaluation in my mind. There is how he projects at the college level and then how he projects at the NBA level because with this move he's now eligible for the 2023 NBA draft. So we'll start with college. You ask the question, is he the top ranked prospect in the class of 2022? The answer to that is no. Nick Smith, who's going to Arkansas, will maintain that spot. Frankly, I don't think he's number two either. I think that that goes to Derek lively, who's going to duke. The 2023 recruiting class, even with the amount of players that it lost, whether through overtime elite G league or reclassifying 2001 is still a much better group than the class of 2023 from top to bottom. The reason why that's important is because it speaks to the caliber of the subsequent draft. So GG Jackson, while he would have been remained the top ranked prospect in the high school senior class of 2023, as a college freshman, he's top 5, maybe top ten. But not number one. And he is an interesting talent. He is a guy who is certainly provides and listen, let's start with this. For Lamont Paris, home run, obviously. I believe this was the initial plan with Frank Martin. When Frank Martin was the head coach at South Carolina, it had been widely speculated that Gigi Jackson would commit there would end up reclassifying and ending up there as soon as potentially even earlier than he did now. So this, I believe, was the initial plan. There was some speculation that he always wanted to go to North Carolina. I think it was a little bit of a divided house in terms of his parents and where they wanted him. But when Frank Martin gets fired, it opens things back up because they had been very clear with that administration that Frank Martin was their guy. So Frank Martin gets fired anyway, and at that point, that's where North Carolina becomes the option. Obviously Lamont Paris comes in, they continue to work that. They flip the commitment and the fact that he becomes draft eligible a year earlier is significant because at North Carolina, the roster is much better. They don't have the immediate opportunity for GG to go in and make the splash. He can now theoretically make it South Carolina. The question is, and you alluded to this, what is he capable of doing year one for a first year head coach on a roster that is not considered to be in the top half of the SEC? For me, that is a fair question. I think offensively he's a guy that right now really wants to stretch his game to the perimeter. He calls himself, you know, he's a four who wants to be a three who's actually closer to a 5 in my mind. He's at his best around the rim where his physical tools can really shine, but he shows potential putting the ball on the floor and long-term as a shooter. That's going to be more important, I think, when you start to project them out to the NBA. But what he's not is a polished shot creator or someone you can build your half court offense around next year to the point many of the coaches you talk to were making. So and then from an NBA standard, you project them out and you say, okay, we think he's going to be able to shoot. We think he's going to be able to put the ball on the floor a couple of times. But is he as versatile defensively as we want him to be? And that's been the concern that I've heard the most from NBA scouts because those have been the people I've been talking to most. And they said, you know, they list them at 6 9. He may be 6, 8, and our world he's closer to a 5.

"I wouldn't put Mike white that far behind it. And among the 6 hires. So this is, this is amalgamation of kind of what big picture, long-term, how these hires work. And what people in the industry kind of feel, power ranking the hires in the SEC. So this is not strictly my opinion. This is me gathering info. And some near the top are near the bottom of the list and some near the bottom are near the top of the list. But I would say it goes like this. Mike white to Georgia, being the best, because he was good at Florida. And now he goes to a Georgia program that has historically irrelevant. I mean, it's had like 7 seasons of note ever. George has never good immense college basketball. It's actually fascinating. Mike white might be the guy to change that. Again, 243 wins to his career. So it goes white, then Chris jans, then I would say it's probably golden, narrowly ahead of Dennis Gates, and then you get to McMahon and Lamont Paris at the bottom. McMahon, because of all the sanctions, and it's also a huge jump. Some wonder if he is going to be the ultimately the right guy for LSU. Again, I'm not saying that I think this, but I want at least, you know, I'm not going to hop on here and here's the thing people would whisper about LSU. Is that. The way it's forever gotten done at LSU? You can say it then. Okay, if you're gonna win an LSU, you gotta be wired to be a cheater and Matt McMahon does not carry that reputation whatsoever. That's basically it. But now let's say this. What if what you used to have to do to get players at LSU is legal now? You can just, however, yeah. Yeah. That's an ongoing discussion of like, what's cheating anymore anyway. And so there are some coaches that still think like, you know, blatantly inducing players with all this money is still a little improper. And some people are like, whatever, it's just, you know, I don't know. Anyway, McMahon doesn't, he's not, I think, I think it's a great fit. In fact, there was a lot of curiosity if it was McMahon to Missouri, Dennis Gates gets it. So we'll see. But yeah, and then Le Mans Paris just has Lamont. He's 5 seasons of Chattanooga. 87 72 just made the tournament there. South Carolina's search was a mess. And so I think there's the most uncertainty there specifically only because the process to get there, remember, they wanted Sean Miller. But man, I think Dennis Gates is sneaky if he wound up being the best. He's Dennis Gates is not like he's not a guy who's looking to self promote, give a great quote, but I think he's got a long time disciple of Leonard Hamilton. He's got a real shot at and I know Missouri fans are like, please, can we in the next guy be the guy? We'll see. He did a really good job at Cleveland state. He did interview at other places. Those places, you know, didn't offer him a job, Missouri was the spot there. But I think big picture, I think Mike white is the most, some would say chance some might even say Matt McMahon. I had one coach, tell me that he thinks that we will look up in like ten years. And yeah, McMahon's going to be the one that lasts from this and he's going to be the one that stays. Another saying it's going to be Gates. Gates is going to be the guy. I think Mike white, because he has won 243 games in his career that he made the tournament more years than not at Florida. One 62% of his games there. He's my bet for the best long-term long-term because of, again, entry point is a big time deal. Expectations. It's all relevant. Georgia is nothing. So I think that he's going to have the best chance at being the best coach. Listen, I don't have much interest in getting into predicting failure for any of these guys because none of us ever know. You get some right. You get some wrong. It seems, I don't know. As I've gotten older, I just don't have much interest in crapping on any of these hires. All of these guys, again, have accomplished something to even find themselves in this position to be the head coach of an like that in and of itself is amazing. No matter where it goes from here, you have reached a point in your profession that almost nobody else reaches, which is you're a head coach and a power conference. So, but they can't all succeed. And it's not going to happen. Again, it's just not going to happen. Every single year, Parrish, we go through this. So yeah. Yeah. So they're not all going to succeed. Some of these guys are going to be fired in four years. And some of these guys are going to get contracts extensions in two years. And you know, I could guess on who's who, but it would just be a guess. Like, I believe in Chris James, 'cause I've seen him, when you just absolutely kill it at a job, relative to your league. Yeah. And Jane's like, he understands how to navigate all the things you've got to navigate at a place like Mississippi state. I believe in that one. He is also the toughest job in the league. So no, people say that. What is tougher, South Carolina?.

"Saturday, April 16th, live on showtime pay per view. So 6 of these 13 new power capitis are in the SEC. It's Todd gold at Florida Mike white at Georgia, Matt McMahon at LSU, Chris James Mississippi state, did escapes, Missouri, Lamont Paris, at South Carolina. Here's a question for you. Which of these coaches makes two NCAA tournaments first? Great question here. 6 changes in a league, this isn't even a trivia time. This is an outsourcing to our listenership live on YouTube if you have not already please. Hit that like button, smash it, please. If you could. I want to know the last time I want to know the last time a power conference had as many as 6 job changes in a given season. It's probably happened, but I don't know. Now, to your question, who wins two first? Makes two. Not wins two games. Makes two. Let me run down, I'm going to run down the resumes of all 6 real quick here for you. And then I'll give you an answer. Mike white has 243 wins in his career in 11 seasons. Two 43 and one 28. He has a 6 and four NCAA tournament record and won 62% of his games at Florida and he got nudged out. Christians, you mentioned it before. I think you mentioned his MSU record. I've got one 43 and 44 overall and 6 seasons. He's made three tournaments and it would have been could have been four in 2020 if there was one, but there wasn't. Todd golden is 57 and 36 and three seasons. He just brought San Francisco to its first tournament in 24 years. Again, he's just 36 years old. You've got Dennis Gates, who was 50 and 40 and three seasons at Cleveland state. He made the 2021 tournament after resurrecting that program. The Cleveland state situation when he inherited it was an outright disaster. He turned it around quick and was a hot commodity in the past two seasons. He finally gets a power conference job. Matt McMahon was one 54 and 67 in 7 seasons at Murray state. He made three NCAA tournaments and did a wonderful job there obviously in the OVC helped basically trampoline that school into the Missouri valley for next season, but he will not be there. Lamont Paris was 87 and 72 and 5 seasons of Chattanooga. He just made the NCA tournament almost be Illinois. His Chattanooga team led Illinois for like 59 minutes and 22 seconds of that game before losing in the closing minute there. The first coach, how about, man, I do like, I'm going to say, I'm going to give you, man, how are we going against golden right now? That would be my pick. I think he's like, I think all these guys are good coaches who have accomplished something, right? You don't get these jobs unless you've accomplished something improving yourself. So, you know, I won't get into who's better and who's not. I think they're all good. I just think Todd's probably set up to win to make multiple instantly tournaments more quickly than the rest of these guys. It's the best job of the 6 Florida. Would you agree with that? I would agree with that, yes. Okay. And some would say LSU. But you're facing sanctions. Right. Right. And some would say all things even LSU is better. I actually would still Florida over LSU all things even no sanctions, but I just, just for our listeners, some people would actually debate that LLC is the best. Right. I get it. It's debatable. But it's not debatable under these set of circumstances. Where Florida's not dealing with a pending NCA case in LSU is. Colin castleton just announced he's coming back. That's a big development. I'm a fan of smart people. And guys who are, I think they'd be successful, whatever they did. And they just happened to be college basketball coaches. Now, this doesn't guarantee success, obviously. You know, at the end of the day, you're not taking the standardized test you're trying to run a high major basketball program. Derek Dooley at Tennessee is an example that runs counter to what I'm telling you I like. Really smart guy. Every time you heard him talk, he came across like this guy's well read. He's an intellect. He's smart guy. Couldn't do the job, you know? Just couldn't do the job. But I start from a point of, I believe in smart people. And I think Todd's a smart guy, a good basketball mind. And he's at a place where you're set up to win. I mean, I know Mike white kind of got nudged out of there. Or at least felt like he didn't want him there anymore. But he won there. Maybe didn't win as much as you'd like if you're a Florida fan and maybe certainly he wasn't Billy Donovan. But he won there. And I don't see any reason why ty golden won't win at Florida as well. There are some skeptics on golden to Florida. It's a huge jump from San Francisco to Florida. No doubt about it. I actually, he hired, we won't get into the weeds on staff hirings and stuff like that. But I will say he hired Carlin Hartman, who he's known for a long time. Carl Hartman, former Oklahoma assistant, spent the past season at UNLV. I think Carlin Hartman is a future head coach. If you told me he was a head coach in a year from now, I believe you. So he's actually built a really good staff there. But just to kind of paint a fuller picture for our audience in talking with people around college basketball in recent weeks, the golden to Florida one has piqued a lot of interest because there are some that think it might be too big of a jump, I don't know, but you asked who will get to two NCA tournaments first. I would narrowly say golden, but.

"Me if you're watching live on YouTube, please smash the like button like your brain and Davies. You have consent when it comes to the like button you always have consent, so please smash we thank you in advance. Dead leg. You know, one of the weird things is thinking about this last night. About the sport of college basketball is that some of the most interesting off the court developments. They happen right in the middle of the Internet like tournament so they get overshadowed because we just, we don't have time to deal with them, talk about them, but it's been a week now. Since Bill self at Kansas, when his second national title, unless you're like really into the transfer portal, things have slowed down in the sport considerably. So now we got plenty of time. And with that in mind, we decided to spin this episode, reviewing some of the coaching hires and discussing some of the biggest moves that might, in some way, in some places reshaped the sport. If you've got northlanders coaching changes track or bookmark, you likely know two things. One, it's a 19 minute read. What do you want from me? I got a gift capsules on these things. There are 54 coaching changes. Of course it's a 19 minute read. Christmas. Now, hold on though, it has evolved. If we went back three weeks ago, this puppy is a sweet old 9 minute read. Oh wow. It changes. Don't worry, I'm gonna give it another edit, I'll try and get this down for you GP. I'm gonna try once Elon fills its spot by the end of the week, which I expect to happen. I'll try and get this puppy down to 15 minutes for you. It's fine. Like the little bitty capsules are fine. I just wanted to goof on the fact that I did notice when I clicked on it, it is a 19 minute read. The second thing you probably know is that there are 13 new coaches in what we generally regard as the best 6 conferences in college basketball. It's a 5 power conferences, power 5 conferences, plus the big east. It breaks down like this. That mod is the new coach of butler, John Shire is the new coach at duke, Todd golden, new coach at Florida, Mike white is the new coach, Georgia Jerome Tang, new coach at Kansas state Kenny Payne. New coach at Louisville Matt, new coach at LSU, Kevin Willard's the new coach at Maryland. Chris jans, new coach at Mississippi state, Dennis Gates, the new coach at Missouri, shaheen Holloway is the new coach of seaton hall, Lamont Paris, new coach of South Carolina, and Sean Miller is the new coach at Xavier. Dead leg, let's start with this question. Of those 13 new coaches at new places in power conferences. Which one will be doing the best at his job three years from today. Three years. Okay, so we're not trying to predict like, you know, let's go ten years into the future and who's done the best. We're just trying to get a look three years into the future who will have done the best job. And it's all relative to expectation, reminder, as we get into this, because there's a lot of parish. There's a lot of really intriguing hires. I go back to two months ago trying to figure out, trying to predict what jobs would open, what jobs wouldn't looking at candidates. And at the time, thinking, all right, what kind of, what kind of coach in candidates are out there for these jobs? Is this going to be a deal where we have, you know, 7 or 8 jobs open in the power conferences and there might be one or two interesting names, but there might be just some hires that are made that you're kind of like, eh, that's not the case here. There's a ton and I am including Shire, you know, to duke, even though we've known he's the deal. He's actually officially he's taken over in an official capacity as the head coach in the past week or so. In fact, just as we started this podcast, a meal Jefferson was as expected promoted to assistant coach at duke there. Three years from now, I think relative to expectation is the important thing. If you want to say overall who's done the best, I think your three biggest candidates are Sean Miller Xavier, that butler and John Shire at duke. And the reason why I would say those three is, well, you take a look at what Sean Miller and thought have done. Each of coach 17 seasons, Sean Miller's won 73% of his games, that modest one 74% of his games, that matter has a 24 and 13 NAA tournament record is obviously made in national championship game in multiple final fours. Sean Miller has made multiple elite 8s as a 19 and 11 NCAA tournament record the last time he was at Xavier, Xavier was in a tent school. He went one 20 and 47 there. Overall, Sean Miller's won 422 games, Thad modest won 439. From a pure win percentage experience standpoint, coaches that have been at those places, which is obviously a trope this season. You've got familiar faces returning to places they once were. It's them. And then as John Shire, who seems to be dead set on landing every imaginable 5 star possible from now until all of eternity, because what I got two calls from coaches, one in the ACC, one outside the ACC and a power conference in the past 72 hours. And one coach specifically called me to say, John shyer is recruiting right now at a level that Mike scheff is the head coach never did. If you look at what he has done in the 2022 class on the 23 class, it's insane. Now we might see, I don't know if this is going to be the case. We might see a case where Nolan Smith by virtue of having left duke to go to Louisville. Maybe we see one or two do commits, go to Louisville. I don't know if that's going to be the case or.

"So Cesar below. You gave four seats. Me sees her below. I gave one to two C++ in a sea. You were the tougher grader today. Yeah, I mean, I would expect nothing less. You're soft, so. Wow. This is like the surprise of the century. It's not. It's not that. And plus C isn't bad. I mean, it's like we're giving up D's and F's around here. I don't think there were any bad bad hires. I don't think you could say that. There's some fits that you would question. That would be a better yes. I think all these guys were kind of deserving. I just don't know again in the SEC. My seeds were all in the SEC. McMahon, golden Lamont Paris. We're all guys that I just don't know are built. The minnows. That's the main takeaway of today. Yeah, that's the tweet is a sharks in the minnows. And right now, Todd golden, Matt McMahon, Lamont Paris. You're a minnow. You're all minis. We got that. All right. Before we go, and we'll do it next week. When we actually see each other for the well, we saw each other recently. We've seen each other a couple of times. Yeah, I got you a show cocktail, what the hell are you talking about? That's true. I went above and beyond for this podcast. You did. You actually did. It was a little warm. But it still was good. Yeah, okay. You bring the ice. I don't have any device. I got the food. I went back to the hotel. And they didn't have any ice, so they don't have ice down the hallway, don't you know how to get your own damn ice? Dude, I had a game that night. I wasn't worried about delivering you a chilled shrimp cocktail. You're like, you're like urban Meyer. You're demanding so much of me threatening me with being fired..

"Yeah, I mean, I thought you'd be handing out a's. I thought you gave an 8 a Louisville. Like your favorite teacher, I thought you'd just be handing out like somebody gives you an apple and you're just handing out everywhere all the way around, but you're not. You're not. There's no screwing around here in Chicago right now. I'm getting down to business. You are, you are. Christians goes from New Mexico state to Mississippi state. I was there watching Christians and shit. They almost pulled up another upset and beat Yukon and then beat Arkansas to go to the sweet 16. Dancers are Bowling Green. Got fired for something off the court. Went to New Mexico state. Has done a really good job there. John Cohen, the AD at Mississippi state hires him to replace Ben howling down and stark Vegas, I love it. Like, I love it. I think this is a perfect fit. Now again, Mississippi state when they won at the highest level, it was slick Rick, stansbury. You know, now you got so many IL that you got to deal with for James, it may take some time, but I love the fit, I think he'll get him to the tournament, maybe two tournaments once he kind of gets this thing going. I'm giving it an a minus. 25 plus wins for the last 5 years. His teams are tough. They played super hard. I agree that he fits in. I think with kind of what you need to do to win at Mississippi state. So I'll go, I'll go be plus. Okay. All right, that's fair. South Carolina. They're replaced Frank Martin with Lamont Paris. They tried Sean Miller. He chose Xavier over South Carolina. There were some other guys that kind of tried to work after ended up getting them on Paris, who's been a Chattanooga, took them to tournament this year. They almost beat Illinois in that first round matchup..

"At the office. You're in one with your family and it's got 8, ten, 12, 14, 17 guys. You're going to want to go with a lower variance bracket and move in Arizona forward. But if you're in a CBS pool or an ESPN pool and there's millions of people entering these things, you're going to want to hire variant pool. So maybe you will extend Houston past in Arizona. Yeah, definitely a little bit of game theory that I think is worth repeating here. If you are in a pool with a thousand plus entries or you're trying to make a splash, go big or go home. Try and zig when everybody else zags, but if you're in a pool that's a little bit friendlier, maybe not so friendly, but smaller amount of entries in volume to pain's point, you may want to stick with some of the higher seeds and mirror the field figuring out where you can make up ground elsewhere in that field to your point talking about Arizona. It'll be interesting to see exactly how healthy chrissa is. The picture that he put out on social media of that ankle, which I would assume is a high ankle spring. I'm not sure he plays this weekend like he was optimistic about or said he wanted to. I'm not sure Chris is available until Arizona potentially gets the elite 8 or even maybe even a final four. If Houston was a pull off that upset, you would need a career performance from a streaky shooter and the likes of Kyler Edwards to get something done who does have a little bit of tournament experience. But before Houston could potentially get to that match up assuming they take care of business of UAB, they would have to go through the winner of the Illinois Chattanooga matchup a four 13 showdown where it's the fighting align IE 7 and a half point favorite total at one 35 and a half at FanDuel sportsbook in a game that you'll be able to see Friday afternoon at 6 50 Eastern Time. UTC, two and zero all time versus the fighting Alana, which includes an NCAA tournament victory way back in the late 90s. Meanwhile, Illinois head coach Brad Underwood three and 5 in the big dance, but no stranger to being in some of these spots. Illinois looking to try and get back to their first final four since 2000, but 2005, excuse me. Surprisingly enough, they haven't been in the sweet 16 since 2005 either, which is a bit of a black eye for a proud program. Meanwhile, Chattanooga, the mocks back in the dance for the first time since 2016, played arguably one of the more entertaining and exciting title games in dispatching Furman and overtime with a couple of last second shots. They ran through their league, dominating the silicon by an average points per game margin greater than ten. They're 12 true road game victories with the most division one this season and they have a couple players to watch highlighted by malachi Smith. Chattanooga is really interesting to me because if you watch him play, they kind of remind you of Wisconsin and that's not completely surprising because Lamont Paris, their head coach, a former badger assistant. And I think at its core, when you look at Chattanooga, it's the kind of underdog you want attempting to slay the dragon. They have some size to deal with Kofi, really good guards, nougat can hit the three, and they slow the game down to an absolute crawl. They are a half court offense. 319th in possession length. They do rebound it well enough to not give up second chances as well. And that's kind of the pedigree you want from an 8 point dog. In saying that, after we had this embarrassing exit for Illinois in the tournament last season, we've heard Brad Underwood, we've heard some of his guys saying all the right things this week about focusing in like never before. We know the talents there. Illinois is clearly rested. We've kind of been waiting for them to peak and it just hasn't happened. Maybe it never does. Match up wise when I look at this, Illinois forces you to take bad shots. Underwood does a really good job kind of having his guards blitz the three point line. And then with Kofi on the back line, most teams end up settling for mid range shots. Chattanooga's tenth in mid range efficiency. So if they are hitting their mid range shots, they have a chance, it's just, as we know, the least efficient way to play basketball is taking contested mid range shots. Offensively, if you're facing Illinois, you want to put Kofi in conflict, right? Make him defend ball screens, make them defend pick and roll. Chattanooga's outside the top 300 and pick and roll frequency. Chattanooga also likes to run its offense through the post. You have Josh and I, you have the Kansas transfer there and de Sousa and the post. Chattanooga's 18th and post up frequency. The problem is that's not really the way you want to attack Illinois in Kofi defensively. Illinois is 9th in allowing near proximity shots 45th and defending them. This one's tough for me because on the surface, Chattanooga is everything you want from the kind of tempo to the guards to the shop making, the rebounding, but how they actually attack offensively isn't the most conducive way to beating Illinois. But if you can hit enough shots, 8 is a big number. And I don't know. I'm hearing all of the Talking Heads. How Chattanooga's the side here, Chattanooga's the best dog to be backing here. And I don't really like to get caught up in that kind of stuff. But Chris is now the highest in the market. They're at 8. This open 6, again, typically 7 has a lot more relevance in terms of key numbers in college basketball. During the regular season than now, but it's still a relevant number that's worth more than 5 cents. And we've just kind of blown through that number. And so market indicators are kind of saying something drastically different than a lot of the Talking Heads, which makes me a little nervous here. I definitely it costs for concern and I think you raise some interesting points. I mean, when you talk about having size in the middle to contend with Kofi kober, arguably the most important player for Chattanooga in this matchup will be Kansas transfer Silvio de Sousa if he gets in a fall trouble and they can feed the big fella at the rim. It's game over and when you look at some of the numbers, Kofi put forth this season. They're somewhat staggering. 21 and ten on 60% shooting. He's only the 5th player in league history to average those type of numbers..

"Jerry pot will be here in 15 minutes. In the meantime, since we last talked, Gonzaga has secured that I'm one overall seed in the NCAA tournament. We think they beat saint Mary's on Tuesday night. Chattanooga has made the NCAA tournament. In spectacular fashion, Georgia state has made the NCAA tournament. Right state has made the NCAA tournament. Peter kiss? We got to get out of here quick today, GP, but on the back end of this after palm, we got to spend at least two minutes on Bryant and Peter kiss. Keep going. Peter kisses amazing. Brian's in the NCAA tournament. Jameer, Nelson junior, in Delaware, have made the NCAA tournament and my South Dakota jackrabbits are in the NCAA tournament. He's been a fun couple of days, and the deadline. He just called him the South Dakota Jack rabbits. Rabbits. You know, I'm gonna get banned from Brooks. You might get banned. Hey, real quick on that? So I did headquarters last night overnight. And then I go back down. Scott van pelt show accidentally accidentally showed the San Diego state logo and apparently two years ago in the South Dakota state fans got on him. So he had to interrupt his show for like four minutes and it was doing all this stuff to apologize. So I'm just staying on you. South Dakota state. Jackrabbits. Jack rabbits. South Dakota state jackrabbits. Have advanced to the NCAA tournament. The Ukraine jackrabbits were being in a war. There we go. Yes, yes, yes, they very much do. Yeah, how about, listen, Gonzaga, we'll touch on the kazakhs. I'm going to ask you, you mentioned number one overall seed. I'm going to ask Paul about that. As well. I have to at least acknowledge the phenomenal ending between Chattanooga and Furman. Furman has finished in the top three of the sokan 7 consecutive seasons. It's made championship games. It hasn't danced since 1980. And it hits a layup with four and change to go 4.3 seconds to go. And perish. This is why we love this month. Now, Chattanooga's been a really good team for most of the season. It was the best team in the so con. So, you know, on balance on the whole, it deserves to be dancing there, but my oh, my oh, my, my man. What an absolute shot. David Jean Baptiste, an all timer. And by the way, I guess he's a 5th year senior. It's just incredible. We've actually had a lot of really good mid major championship games since we started this whole deal on Saturday night with Murray state beaten morehead state. You know, we're approaching a dozen bids automatic bids that have been handed out. We have one more on Wednesday night and oh, by the way, navy will play Colgate in a one versus two patriot league matchup on CBS Sports Network. I actually wish that these leads can figure this out better. There's one automatic bid tonight and like the big conference tournaments are starting and they're fine. We got a couple of teams that we're going to talk about that are in bubble spots. You're playing Wednesday. There are 15 automatic bits you can hand out on Saturday. Why not just spread it out? I totally get it Thursday and Friday. You have so many really good big conference games. If there's no auto bids on Thursday Friday GP, I'm totally good with that. But can we squeeze in like two more on a Wednesday night? Because you just have this cram and I don't know, I feel like if you're a mid major conference, you get a little bit just a little bit more lost in the shuffle on a Saturday than you would if you were say playing your championship game tonight, but otherwise it's been it's been phenomenal and congrats to Chattanooga for firm and that's completely heartbreaking. Just so eviscerating stuff to lose the way you lost because that three pointer was like 15% at best kind of shot that gene pappy's hit and we will see Lamont Paris mocks in the turning next week. I bet you it's less than 15%. It might be because the way that they brought that up again, no time out, amazing. That's why the don't advance the ball on a timeout is amazing college basketball for exact plays like that. I'm with you on these one bit leagues, they should be, if possible, on Monday night Tuesday night Wednesday night. Because by the time we get to Thursday, we are engulfed in power conference stuff. There's bubble games in the quarterfinals of some power conference tournament. And you get, once we get to Thursday, we're not paying attention to this stuff anymore. But on Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, these one bit leagues are amazing. And they get more attention. How many people know Peter kiss today that didn't know Peter kiss yesterday? It's literally in the hundreds of thousands. If not more, because of what happened there. Because of what happened. I mean, do you want to just push off the Gonzaga stuff and talk major till we get palm here 'cause I'm you know I'm game. Yeah, what is it to say about Gonzaga? They're also beginning they're the number one overall seed and they're the betting favorite to win the national. I don't want to ask Paul when he comes on. If Baylor wins the big 12 tournament with more quads, it could possibly maybe be the number one overall seat. I'm not convinced Gonzaga absolutely 100% has it. Last palm that in a few minutes here, you're right about Bryant, I want to talk about Brian talked about bellarmine. Okay, first of all, Peter kiss, yes. He is your exact kind of player. He's the nation's leading score and has his name is Peter kiss. Dude, dude makes Kurt krissa look like a humble choir boy, okay? He can not get enough of himself. Peter kiss loves him, Peter kiss. And yes, I know Bryant might go to Dayton for the first four. I get all that might happen. Which would be awesome, by the way. Which would be awesome. Put him on that stage. Yes, but if that happens, please, you have to feed him into Bill rafter he's call if they make the first round earnestly improper, you know? Peter kiss with a kiss. You have to have raftery on the call. This needs to be done, okay? I don't think rath worked in the first floor. No, but I'm saying if Bryant wins has a 16, whatever one 16 game raf might be calling, let's have him on it. How can you not? I think he gonna have to talk to rap about that. Dude, and then okay, in all seriousness though, they kind of got lucky.

"It's alliterative. They should be the long wood long Woods. Would you like that? Yeah, and their mascot would just be a long piece of wood. Oh, is that what the mascot would be? 'cause there's a couple of interpretations there. So, okay. Or a penis. Well, perhaps the mascot could be a penis. Okay. Gosh. It's the lancers. It's the lancers. Well, maybe they should consider changing it. All right, elsewhere. It's a late Sunday podcast folks. Cleveland. By the way, I meant that I meant to make a drink before we started this and then I forgot. This could be a lot more fun. I was actually going to be committed to drinking and having a drink tonight during the podcast since it's so late. But plenty of other opportunities, I'm sure of it. Cleveland state wins the horizon they're the one seed that's going to start this week. Northern Iowa is the one seat in the valley and Loyola Chicago is the four after loyalist Chicago lost in overtime. There are some who think that loyalist still has a case and a chance to get the at large if it makes the valley title game. I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm a bit dubious on it though. I don't know. Now San Francisco is still in the field for now. Loyola Chicago's got the win over them. If they make the title game and lose, it's going to be intriguing. They got to play probably northern Iowa again. In the semifinals, valley championship has always on CBS, and that will be a week from today. Asan, your number one is Jacksonville state, sun bell will start this week. Texas state, NEC, Bryant came from behind Wagner was undefeated until about a week and a half ago, Brian, Jared grosso. Number one seed in the NHC tournament, which is among my favorite small league tournaments because they do it the right way. If you are the higher seed, you host the game. I know sometimes logistics are some of these other leagues that they like having one kind of destination. I get it. I like how the NEC does it. If you're the better team with the higher seat, you get to host the game in the conference tournament in your own gym, shouts to the NEC for that. And then two more, Colgate's the number one seed in the patriot league that will be on CBS Sports Network championship game. Later this week. And then so Khan Chattanooga, maybe it's next week for patriot and then Chattanooga is the one C Lamont Paris has done a great job. Might be a coach that is a hot name to maybe get a bigger gig in the next few weeks. Chattanooga. Number one, and what should probably be a pretty good soak on. That's a top 15 league this season. And those are your one seeds in the small leagues that wrapped up regular season play over the weekend. Oh, and middle class team, I gotta give a shout out to Nick. David, big D and B fan. They won 5 games a year ago. On Saturday got to 22 and 7 clinched conference USA east division title. The other side of that league GP's got, you know, you're dealing with UAB, you're dealing with north Texas who all have stuff on later on the site this week. But one of the bigger turnarounds of in the entire sport has been middle Tennessee. And I'm glad you brought that up because when he replaced Kermit Davis at Middleton, I was like, he's going to do really well there. And it hasn't gone well. And I was like, why is this not working? Because he's a good coach, he's a good dude. I was like, it got off to a rough start. But like he has broken through this season and he's got that to a really good place. I always assume that he would. I was just, I mean, frankly, I know this is like really in the weeds for your casual college basketball fans. But I was like, why has he not got that? Because Middleton seems like Kermit was consistently good there. And I thought Nick would just pick up right where he left off. Now Ian heritage. I mean, like everybody left and then they had an injury and there was no way he was going to be good immediately, but I was like, just give it a minute and he'll be fine. And it took, it took two minutes. Maybe three. But they're there now. It's a good for them. They are, they are there now. You got anything else you want me to just give these folks a little heads up on what we got in terms of TV Monday, Tuesday. Every minute we spend here is another minute, my 5 year old could text who knows. Okay, Monday night. Here we go, real quick. Three games, three big games to keep an eye on. Baylor, Texas, 9 o'clock eastern ESPN, San Diego state Wyoming, CBS Sports Network, 9 o'clock tip, those mountain west games always worth the watch there. Get yourself prime because that's gonna be a really good conference tournament. And then UCLA Washington is a late COVID makeup game 11 eastern ESPN2. And then Tuesday is pretty stacked. Providence nova gets a go in 6 30 eastern Fox Sports one. Kansas TCU is an ESPN+ game at 8 o'clock, but TCU and a good spot their home see if they can get it done. Michigan state plays at Michigan. Obviously an urgent game for the wolverines, 8 30. You've got saint bonaventure VCU 8 30 CBS Sports Network, just two good a ten teams, intrigues me at least, and then two more Purdue Wisconsin. That's the game of the night, Purdue at Wisconsin, see if the Big Ten regular season champion could hang in the balance of that game. Wisconsin wins that game. It's guaranteed to do it. And then Arizona USC, another good late tip. 11 eastern on Tuesday. So when we talk again on Wednesday morning, we will have all of that to talk about. And oh by the way, when we talk again on Wednesday morning,.

NEC Loyola Chicago sun bell Jared grosso Cleveland CBS Iowa Khan Chattanooga Chattanooga Asan Kermit Davis NHC patriot league Middleton Colgate Wagner Ian heritage Bryant
