"Now, as I said, Jesus answering questions which have been posed to him by the religious leaders of the day, and while they don't realize they're doing it, they're following a tradition which is part of the Passover. During Passover, each person offers a lamb to be sacrificed. That lab must be absolutely perfect. No flaws of any kind. Part of the Passover ritual is the inspection of the lamps, the priest would examine the lab for imperfections prior to sacrifice. Now, if you recall, Jesus was proclaimed to be the lamb of God by John the Baptist very early in Jesus ministry, so the questions which are being posed to Jesus by the religious leaders are there examination of the lamp.
Pennsylvania's Senate Race Will Stretch the Democratic Party Faithful
"One of the issues that we talked about having with the Democrats is they're policy issues of the far left. And basically it's very progressiveness. It's not matching up with a lot of the country. And in that you got fatter money lamb. John fetterman and Connor lamb for the most part who are running in this primary federman is way out in front right now. And federman is if you go to most I've talked to some democratic consultants, they would tell you that fetterman is going to be the harder one to try and keep this seat in some ways, although Pittsburgh Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and other parts of the state will go heavily for the current lieutenant governor. It is a race that is going to stretch the Democratic Party faithful. We'll see how the Pennsylvania is not a New York. It's not a California. It's not an Illinois. They're going to have to see how a fetterman would play, although he is one statewide. He's now going to have to play on a different stage. Conor lamb came out of the Pittsburgh area, a very well funded. He won the House seat. He has been one of the consistent, more moderate blue dog Democrats, if you would, which seemed to have played in the state of Pennsylvania very well, but so far it is just not. Fetterman's money advantage his notoriety and others have just played. And he is well on a double digit lead right now in this democratic primary. I do not see lamb overcoming that and it sets up an interesting race, whether it be federman and McCormick or Fatima in Oz, that one is going to be a one to race.
'The Silencing of the Lambs' With Author Michael Brown
"Michael Brown, my friend, welcome. Great to be with you, Eric. Thanks for the memories. You've got a great story, which we're not going to get into today. We've talked about that many times on the program before, but you have a new book out, and unfortunately it's very important. The book is titled the silencing of the lambs, the ominous rise of cancel culture, and how we can overcome it. So what do you say in the book, roughly speaking? There really is an attempt to shut us up to silence us to cancel us to marginalize us and to put us in a place where we can not speak up and get our message out. When I say us, I mean followers of Jesus with conservative biblically based values, I'm not paranoid about this. In fact, a large part of the book is strategies as to how we can overcome. But this is real. I mean, we're in a situation today where it's not just a matter of we disagree with you. But we have to cancel you out. You know, in China, we'll talk about someone with disappeared. They use it as a vowel. They were disappeared. They suddenly, they're not there anymore, or under Soviet Union. Some of this disappearance, they're blanked out. They're blotted out. That's what's happening in a different way. Barry Weiss has spoken up about this. She was in New York Times journalist, a liberal feminist quote, married to another woman and she found the atmosphere in New York Times for her to be so toxic that if you raise a narrative, you are not just criticized but you would cancel she called it social murder and it's so extreme now that you have voices like the irreverent atheist Bill Maher or reverend Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman or actors like Alec Baldwin or sports personalities like Dana White and they're all raising their voice against this Nick Cave singer songwriter in Australia said that cancel culture is mercy's antithesis. So you do one wrong thing. 15 years ago, something in your useful days. It comes out today. You can lose your
USA Today Faces Backlash, Deletes Series of Tweets Which 'Normalizes' Pedophilia
"USA Today which used to be a respectable publication came out with an article recently and the title was that they believe that pedophiles are misunderstood. They wrote an entire article, by the way, on the day of child sex trafficking awareness day. Let's just be clear. The day that you're supposed to talk about child sex trafficking, they say that pedophiles are misunderstood. Could you imagine if USA Today on Martin Luther King Jr. day said that racists were misunderstood? Or on Juneteenth? USA Today was lamb blasted. This is on the blaze dot com for publishing an article framing pedophilia as misunderstood. Swift backlash caused the publication to delete tweets promoting the article, which was originally titled quote when the public keeps getting wrong about pedophilia. The complicated research behind pedophilia. Continued by saying, pedophilia is viewed as among the most horrifying social ills. But scientists who study the sexual disorder say that it is also among the miss most misunderstood. When most of the public thinks a pedophilia they assume it's synonymous with child abuse. USA Today researcher says, it's actually when we study pedophilia, we say that term describes an attraction, not an action, and use it interchangeably with abuse that fuels misperceptions. USA Today was forced to delete their Twitter thread. Yeah, I don't know if USA Today was reading the room correctly. But platforming like pro pedophile arguments, don't think the country's there. Hopefully not yet. USA Today tweeted out, quote, we think we know what a pedophile is. There's a lot of misunderstanding. Or there's a lot we're misunderstanding. USA Today said, quote, a pedophile is an adult who is sexually attracted to children, but not all pedophiles abuse kids, and some whose secretion abuse kids are not pedophiles. Oh, thanks for that distinction. That's super

Biden and Harris May Become Sacrificial Lambs as Inflation Worsens
"This inflation crisis is going to get worse than the troubling part about this inflation crisis which the media is not telling you but some people are starting to sound the alarm about is that the crisis is going to impact the poor and middle class more than anyone Now why is that I'm gonna play audio in a second of the great Ken lango and Home Depot found They're an entrepreneur businessman He was on what is CNBC Yes Talking about how this inflation crisis is a lot worse than people think And this is why you're seeing the dinkins effect The David dinkins effect I call it when eventually even the left wing media has to acknowledge that in order to save the Liberal Democrat movement they've got to throw someone overboard Biden Harris are at this point now You're gonna see them turn on them I promise it's not an act of benevolence They're not trying to be truth tellers or philanthropists or anything of the sort That is not what's going on What they're trying to do right now is save the Democrat party from these two buffoons So they have to pick a sacrificial lamb and Harris and Biden are going to be it It's happening I've seen it I saw it with David dinkins the old mayor New York I saw with Jimmy Carter where they eventually threw Carter into the bus You can't have this foil effect right Where people who just a year and a half two years ago before the pandemic had great jobs the economy was booming during the Trump years You can have this foil effect where now people are miserable inflation kicks in you got to eat cat food for dinner or whatever it may be You can't have it and continue to try to defend the people doing it to the people it's

"Who who. Who will he choose. We are waiting with baited yes. It's minted baited breath. My friend take it away. I know everybody wants to know what is club. Radice pick who who is club or diga pick. Who does the combat she think will win the rubber match between tyson fury and deonte wilder. Who's gonna win before. I give my prediction. Let's see what led up to this so we all know about the first fight. It was a draw me personally. I thought wilder should one. That count was kinda slow. I kinda slow. The count was low and When weary with furious. I got floored he got up damn near one that round if wow they knock them down fear would win that fight. It was still close. It was a draw. Some people say if you're a one but because of that devastating knockout. Some people gave to wilder giving edge either way. It was a draw bill to the second fight. Second fight i mean fury swishes holtkamp. Camp up start training macron boxing with with with sugarhill legendary Transco for manual store recipes. You know saying nobody number legends in heart in hard hitters came out of a crop. Boxing up there in detroit but Gower sugarhill changes. Oh game playing math. Every Founding Father Said You Cannot Have Liberty Without Virtue
"And this is in my book read discovering americanism I would argue that the three most important books I ever wrote American Marxism liberty and tyranny and rediscovering americanism Rediscovering americanism being the heaviest He explained in his book and I quote liberty in short can not be discussed in the abstract As if it were totally independent of public virtue and the framework of institutions John Adams knowledge that freedom is a delicate plant that even watering it with the blood of martyrs is dubious nutriment Impels them to outline a practical system for liberty under law Liberty must be under law There is no satisfactory alternative The liberty without law endures so long as a lamb among wolves Even the compass of civil laws does not sufficiently hedge liberty about Under cover of the best laws imaginable freedom may still be infringed If virtue is lacking Damn near every founding father said you can not have liberty without virtually Kirk says what sort of government then will stimulate the indispensable private and public virtue comprehended in the golden rule And the answer of course is a constitutional republic that's on
John Zmirak Loves Eric's New Book
"Some talking to john's mirror and it's really really really depressing. John do we talk about something positive for for change. Sure how about the best book. I've read this year. And you just have a new eric. I'm the author get get outta here avalon. All you know. I do not flatter. Because i don't care what they think and your mum that list of people i just i don't care enough to flatter europe or the book is just actually good. If it sucks. I would not i tell you in an email but i wouldn't tell you on the air but this book is atheism dead is fantastic and i wanted to describe it to people. I purposely took this book with me. E book version to a greek restaurant in in dallas. That i take you to. When you're in town cost is cafe. Wonderful cafe on greenville. Very authentic When i was once reading your book stared the waiter comes up and says the author is greek. And i said yes. And he's a friend of mine and he eats here sometimes he said go tell telling to say hello next time. He is in restaurants. And i'm reading his atheism de kostas cafe and i realized that your book is like the athenian combo on the on the menu. Where it's not just lamb chops. It's also shrimp scampi. And it's also an order souvlaki. It has a huge filed. Three different wonderful thing. You get all of that for the low low low low low price of fourteen ninety seven if you go to eric. Metaxas dot com. It's supposed to be a thirty dollar book. Four hundred plus pages. And you're telling me and i know this is true. It's basically three books in one. I mean i'm not joking like it is. It's weird right. It is three short books in one. It really you should have sold them separately and now seldom together in a special authors anyway. Three books in one the first one is a fantastic book on intelligent design and how physics and biology and cosmetology and chemistry and chemistry are all pointing towards the fact that life could not exist. An orderly universe couldn't exist certainly advanced life and then human conscious life. None of these things can be explained by the quaint victorian nineteenth century superstition of random chance. Darwinism and survival. Of the i mean and that's putting it very mildly and i oftentimes when i'm writing my books. I established myself because i discovered things. I think. It can't possibly be this dramatically true. So i think when people read the book they will be
Light at the End of the Tunnelfor Air Travel?
"While they have been quite a lot of new developments over the past fortnight in terms of international travel some bad but also some good in summary getting back to australia over the next couple of months unfortunately looks like it could be hotter than ever but this finally light at the end of the tunnel with talk now of opening up. Australia's international borders at least for some states by the end of this year. There's been a lot to take in so joining me now. To dissect it all is travel agent and regular guest on this podcast. Allan lamb from netwave. Trevor woke mellon so back in july listeners. Might remember the sterling government javier. The number of passengers allowed to arrive each week into each of the different states and so the arrival caps before july would there were three thousand spots a week into sydney melbourne and brisbane with age taking in one thousand people and perth and adelaide were taking in five hundred thirty passengers. H week bought from july when the government half those caps that reduced And the so. The number of passengers allowed to come in on commercial. Flights into sydney was leave. One thousand five hundred a week. Melbourne brisbane dropped down to five hundred passengers. Awake and perth adelaide. Down to only two hundred sixty five eighty per week. The impact of that was already quite devastating but that was only supposed to be until the end of august. Sadly last week the australian government extended those halved arrived caps until now the end of october and that in fact they didn't even have the courtesy of announcing this publicly. What they did is they just informed the airlines and the airlines have now had to stop dumping twenty seven thousand. People in total of flights. Were booked on over the next two months ellen. What does this mean overall in terms of flights to australia. Unfortunately we've seen a lot of flights get canceled. Four raza timber and in some cases. The of started cancelling fraud type as well as even that reduction kept now in places where the toyota That means that a little flat to being played cancelled and the can't cancelled innocence operating That means is. I know your passengers being carried and the cap is now low at two hundred sixty five seeing some of these carry about ten passengers and often the majority of these business plus fortunately with adelaide is not as many airlines flying in. So because it's mainly qatar airways flying they tend to be taking a hard number sir about thirty forty passes per week into add

I the sheriff for penile county in arizona. Sheriff mark lamb. Welcome back to the salem radio network as you showed us the signs the evidence of the smuggling when we were down there. Tell us how the events of just the last eight days impact what you'll trying to do. We've already had analysis that that afghans are going to exploit the southern route. Have you seen anything. Or what are you preparing for sheriff lamb. You know we always prepare for this. We've known that there's people from middle. East countries would say call high interest countries. Which would be iraq afghanistan iran. I talked to the sheriff in Yuma county and he told me they had seventeen the comment that have come to the sector this year alone out from those high interest countries. There's been people from ninety seven countries coming in through a coming in through these borders and so this is of high interest to always but now with what's happening in afghanistan. We are very concerned about this. You know why because we haven't presidency to build a secure southern border from those coming from the south american countries never other countries. Why would i have any faith that they can protect us from those coming from these high interest countries where terrorism where they breed terrorism.

"Of the Lambs. And it was the tape I had, and I will tell you. We watched it so many times. It became a funny movie, and you can watch that movie enough that the horrible, horrible things that happened become funny to you. And so we actually would kind of sit. And to this day there are lines in that movie. That we will quote back and forth to each other in text messages just because they have become funny as gross as that movie was, so that was one of them. That I rented was silence of the Lambs on and it also gives you a little insight into how warped I am. When I tell you. It's now become a comedy. For me. It was just on cable this weekend. It was on Remember, which was HBO one of the networks and I watched it it still funny. I mean, how did you guys like? Rented a bunch of times? No. One time. I just kept it. I kept it. So you might have a warrant out now. I had to pay for it. I ended up having to pay for it later. I forgot I had it. Do you remember how much they charge or how long you have no idea. Like years it was and I got I had gotten it from the Phoenix Public library. And so I was like a library book. I didn't return, so I ended up having to pay that fine or whatever it was years later. I hope the library and over there is listening to the show, right? I paid, but I paid so I paid for the tape. It's mind. She's like. That's where our tape went. That's where no. They knew where it went. They sent me a notice and they sent me a bill. So I paid for it. But that had become a comedy and I watched it. And I still laughed except for the very end scene where she's in the pitch Black being followed by the guy with the gun in the night vision goggles that still creepy But the rest of it, you know, had become funny. In a moment, we're going to talk about unemployment benefits and what the governor of Arizona is doing all that's coming up in just a moment before we get to that economy stuff. Let's talk about your personal economy. Let's talk about your path to retirement. Covert 19 has taught us that it doesn't matter how good things are going. There's always something that can jump up and take everything down. Now the stock market is doing very, very well again. A lot of people with Flora one K's and Ira's retirement accounts are doing very well. But does that mean it's going to stay that way? What's going to happen with the new Biden economy? More important? What about tax laws as they change? If you're not ready for that, you could cost yourself a lot of money in the long run. That's why the fiduciaries a trade and wealth of the most important people for you to see to make sure you are on track and you stay on track when it comes to retirement. They've helped so many people.

"A second to stop. Yes i feel like there's more there's bigger names here too. But i feel like i should just stop their crab brown. John john hurt. Dustin hoffman patrick stewart. Louis gossett junior robert duvall. Jack nicholson and robert de. Niro and germany is was actually. He turned down the role and then hopkins got it at the end. I think jeremy irons could have been fun. I think that would have been a fun. One i think so. There was also another choice. We be besides jodi to play. Cleary's michelle pfeiffer. Oh she was actually a jonathan demme's first choice. Michelle pfeiffer was too much like of a. She's too beautiful. I think that if that makes any sense right. I think jodi foster was more of like the. Aww shucks country. I think that lend itself there. Yeah number eleven. The film was actually briefly considered to be a direct video to Direct to video release because a studio exacts felt. The subject matter was too distasteful especially then. Yeah ironically look at how many oscars one last two. I'm very interested in your take the godfather the as twenty fifteen year only two sequels to win best picture the godfather to lord of the rings. Some people consider the sequel. Yeah i was gonna saw. I've been i've been. I've been wanting to ask you something here. Was it ever contemplated. Because i mean i've never seen mind hunter and now we're gonna talk about a little but after i've never watched men mine hunt or man hundred and it is incredible. It's so good so good when they decided to make silence was there ever a contemplation of just re getting the same cast because of the money it made no money. It was a complete failure heart which makes sense. Yeah 'cause i thought it was amazing. And i would think i was thinking. Manhunter is more of a horror movie than this is. If i feel like it yeah i do. See what you mean it feels. I only not only. Does it have the eighty synthesizer score which i fucking a door. Yes yes If felt very much like a stocker feel of a film. Yeah no. I see what you mean interactive go ahead. I'm sorry now based on the rules that we've all like know about movies. I guess this is a sequel though. Yeah that's why. I was like i wonder what you guys think ryan do. You didn't get a chance to see how to right. No okay right. It is fantastic in artist. Your parental watching. It is really really good. The last the last one and alternate ending. Show dr hannibal lecter on the phone with cleary's and after he hung up. Chilton was shown tied to a chair. Dr hannibal holding a knife and tell him. Shall we begin before the camera fades the black. I think i liked the ending. We got better. What do you think. Paul eager and that throw eager. And that's if for silence of the land. Let's move on to. I guess to movie me and leo. We'll talk about manhunter. Listen i love. Michael mann director. There's just something about the way he films movies. That just really attract me. I saw silence of the lambs. Hannibal and red dragon. I it took me a while to see my manhunter but man was i blown away. Oh seriously i love heat he is. He is still my favorite michael film. But i think this is. I feel this number two. I sincerely think this is the second best movie. And ironically the the the main will graham. The guy that plays wolfgramm is on. Csi and the movie is the inspiration for csi. how really yeah. Like the whole procedural investigation stuff. That's all comes from manhunter. What do you think your succession fan. And i'm still only two episodes in. What do you think. Brian cox all. So it's funny. I barely recognize him. I couldn't quite place his face like what he looks so familiar. I'm like wait striker from excellent. I i am. I do wanna do some quick facts here. I only got four here for this one. There was someone considered to direct this movie. That was not michelman. David lynch was considered to direct. He ended up having a major effect in the future of interpretation Dr hannibal lecter. Anthony hopkins jonathan. Demme was inspired to cast him because of the elephant man. Can you imagine david lynch man. Until i can't imagine. Dave so can i go. Is that Thanks thanks to you. I watched men hunter right because typically in my mind i always realize about red dragon was the only prequels. Does i can ask you a question since you seem. Both doesn't it. Lessen the quality of of of red dragon. It's so it is. Because i i. I enjoyed red dragon as well. Though i did like it but i didn't know there was a better version of it and and i was. Oh shoot this is. This is the only thing. I will say about red dragon that i like doug. A lot was the the tattooing that he did like the old on him becoming And i think that that's something that the that manhunter like lacked. But as far as like everything else i thought it better But in the cool part is that the main ca. I had forgotten about red dragon to be honest with you until we did the rewatch now and i completely forgot that we'll graham. His story with hannibal is the whole basis of the tv. Show really yeah man. I think he would really enjoy the tv show because it really does a fan and mad. Max nicholson as hannibal I think it's it's such a really good way to flesh out that world and it's It you you get a lot of like these david lynch type moments with like a little bit of like You you start seeing what grams like sinking into psychosis to try to match the psychopaths that he's trying to catch and it's in a very visual way. That reminds me of david lynch stuff. Yeah could've imagined like some out there seeing to like when he oh man a movie it would have been but regardless i love this version of it In terms of will graham. Richard gere mel gibson jeff. Bridges mickey rourke comic lachlan harrison ford and don johnson were all considered for the role like to which makes sense his david. Lynch's i guarantee you. If david lynch directed comma glaucoma would have been wolfgramm. Would've been amazing. I wonder he's like i'm gonna do that. Smelly and i'm not going to do it anymore. But i'm gonna make this show called twin peaks and when this show twin peaks. I think i'm gonna bring calm mclaughlin in did i. how did i do. Was that a david lynch. Actually that was pretty spot on real good. And the old last two facts here in a fit resemble after david lynch walked from the project zik as producer renta's initially offered writer and director. Michael mann the opportunity to direct based on a similarity of his surname to the to the revised title. Stupid and finally. I did this for for ryan. Not as much leo. Because i knew ryan wasn't gonna see this one. Brian cox superior next men to that's all. That's that's all. I got here and and finally hannibal ryan. Did you get a chance to see. Hannibal yes i did i go for it. It was fine. I mean. I didn't like and they were moe's i was like okay. Like what about you. Leo what do you think.

"David. I'm joined with today. Ryan would you fuck me. Fuck me and leo second. I gotta refill mike. The anti let me tell you something. I think ryan has been trying to use that line forever and now that he knows where it comes from. I like i always knew where came from. I just never seen the source until this week. Doesn't it make it funnier. Oh yeah yeah. 'cause it's like such a serious movie and then they use it for such comedy in clerks but yeah it's always fun understanding like the tropes and the popular stuff and you're like where it comes like. Oh man this is dope. So we buy our lovely introductions. We're actually covering thirtieth anniversary of one of the best best picture winners of all time. The silence of the lambs Wilson we'll talk about its predecessor manhunter and the other movies in the franchise before against that. We got a lot to cover today. Brian you can go away for now. i know leo likes facts and stats so i gotta throw him some stats and facts. so wgn gaap winners announced. This week i'll start with. Pga pg as the only organization that votes for their best picture the way the oscars role for best picture. Dave is producers right. Gee as writers correct so winner. Pj this year was no mad land. it's not over. I think it close as close to over. It could be because nine hundred seventeen last year. One everything and then lost a parasite so it's not over but it's as close to over as as it gets Wg a went with promising young woman in her original screenplay which really really helps. It's oscar chances and a movie that. I got jenny to see this week. Leo borat what adapted screenplay. Wg a screenplay. Wow okay jenny like the movie. She was shocked that she liked the movie. So it has no shot of winning the oscar. The only reason in one is because no land and the father was in here because they didn't qualify because wgn or stupid. Ancient rules are awry. You can come back now okay. So yeah the oscar. People wanna work anymore. The oscars are in two weeks. Liles fever shows next weekend side and I hope we get to hear why. Everyone's an actor so that that should be fun Next expert of news black widow and crew ella are going to premiere disney plus a among other movies that i am bringing up as well but i kinda wanted to focus on these two. They are going to premiere with a thirty dollar price and they're going to be a day and date release within theaters as well. I'll kick it off with ryan what i. I don't think you're shocked. Are you more are you more of. It's about fucking time. Yeah if you know. You're going to release it. you know. Dane data and get it out now. I agree totally agree. I wonder like. I think disney plus as a model that you release one big thing a month and i think that's why they moved black widow. I actually don't think it has to do with the pandemic this time. I think they wanted to just keep carell in may and they don't want to overdo a with two releases on premier in the same month Leo would what do what do you think i totally like that. Because i think that kinda even mimics the model that they had when they first started the mcu when it was like one movie a season and then they got bigger and it was like two movies a year. 'cause like even even right now in march We got winter soldier. Falcon plus we got the thing. That just premiered this past week with with the mighty ducks yup. So it's like they're starting to get into the flow of what their normal calendar looks like. Honestly when i'm most excited about is through the fact that it's been pushed and pushed and push there's been no talk about any dumb reshoots or anything. They've had to add to it. So like i don't i i feel like the movie was still gonna fit into the the way with meant to fit into the easiest and i think we'll works out for us. Mcu fans as we waited two years at this point. it'll be over two years since we got a marvel. marvel release because Spiderman was july fourth weekend. i believe This means that in the next six months starting from july. We're getting four. Mcu movies thank the lord. So we're getting black widow july. We're getting shanxi in the legend of the tearing which moves to september. We're getting the eternal and we are getting spiderman or spiderman. Nia turtles and i think now chloe's about to win an oscar. I think he's going to have a lot more hype to it. Because how do you feel right now that you've been hyping this director before. She even got the like marvel thing. And it's like now everyone's gonna know. Her name feels good. Feels good. it's she's a very interesting director like i said. I don't know what the attorneys are going to be. But if it's based on her other movies there's going to be a lot of character development which is what those specific character needs because they had such. That's such a small run in the comics. That i think that's very important for us to give a shit about them The other movies. Like i mentioned carell is a big one. I think carello do well on there because if feels like a movie that's going to be seen by a lot of families and they don't want to have to pay the be one hundred dollars to go to the movies for our family of four type thing. Emma stone is a superstar. I think she'll sell it on on that alone. i think that'll do well on on on the premium. I think i'm gonna. I'm gonna see both of these in theaters. I i'm fully vaccinated. I think i'll be okay with going to see them both in theaters and then the other disney pixar. Luca is is going to have a soul release. they're not going to be in In premium plus. It's actually just going to be dropped for free on joel. On in july of believe and then we're also getting free guy moves to august thirteenth kingsman moves to december twenty second deep order mussa january. Fourteen two thousand twenty two and death on the now moves to february twenty february eleven. Twenty twenty two. What's ironic with that release is that there's a chance that image.

"He's playing the most random weird seed music creepy. It is well. You think it's very. I remember like it sounded like this very creepy. I don't know whoever wrote. The song had that my further saw. It changed the trajectory of this song. That we're talking about is win james gum. Buffalo bill dances in front of the camera and he does a tuck back because again he he does not want to see himself as a man And so it's a very high personalized yes. It was improvised by. Ted levine. A bucket so before we go off buffalo bill. The most you know we're already talking about precious but the probably one of the besides the quotes from hannibal. The most notable quotes in the movie are the lotion of it puts the lotion in the basket. He's just so frustrated or it gets the hose. Do you have any of that. Do it rubs lotion on. its skin. does this whenever it's told mr cash. Whatever you're asking for the motion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. We'll pressure to to halt. He loves his dog. Precious precious precious. Well she's smart super smart and then she loves the dog. she won't let it go. She feels bad that she was to kill the term. I don't think she would have killed the dog. And i don't even think she was really hurting. It was the only thing that he cared about and she had to get some power. That's the way she did it. He actually and i'm not gonna be able to remember this whole thing and i know we need to move on. But ted levine. Even talked about the voice he was trying to have. I can't remember but the he thought really deeply about how would this guy's voice sound. You know like which would be like how does somebody who's struggling with all those things and doing all those things sound i. I'm he's a little off weird he did. It puts the lotion in. It's it's the lotion which is just like come on. Let's talk about catherine martin. Amazing rake character. Talk about another. I mean. I know this sounds crazy. Because she's in the well but she's a strong woman to only she stays.

"Anthony hopkins onset avenue when i had kind of a strange relationship in the film. We only got meet once for the film started which was a table reading in the city. I had gotten there early. Nobody was there. So i talked on the phone and i did some stuff and by the time i came back. Everybody was sitting at the table and they were like okay. Let's start so. I never got to talk to and we did a table reading of the entire movie and he scared me to death. I got really scared. And he was really ominous. And so i couldn't talk to him after that. We all kind of went our separate ways. I never saw him again. And then we started shooting and we do one person side one day and then the next day we do the other person and a lot of it was also direct camera so we didn't get to look at each other even so there were few moments on the film would have that where you're drinking coffee and you're there and and i would kind of site left him and i go go. Girl's body donna. West virginia right. I thought it was kinda cool. They actually go on to say. And i can't find the clip where i think after the movie was wrapped. They had some time to spend with one. Another and tony hopkins. Like i was terrified of you because she wanted academy awards and jodi foster like terrified me. I'm the fbi agent playing this role canada. Yeah you're the cannibal. But you could see. Be totally intimidated by jodie. Foster thing is. I think we have to remember that anthony hopkins at this point was not anthony hopkins. He was he was he had had roles but heat. Now we know him as sir anthony hopkins but so he. I read the same thing that he was like. There's this woman. She's an amazing actress. Everybody in america loves her and so he was. You know nervous to act with her actually really surprises me. That they didn't meet. Because i don't know wasn't the thing back then but when you have like that relationship kinda like made the entire village that was really important and usually you would have a chemistry read. Am i wrong. Maybe because of the way. John jonathan demme plan to shoot it the fact that you heard her say that they would focus on her one day and then him the next day so while we're watching the movie thinking they're staring at each other they never really were now. They obviously had a few scenes when he was in the cage in tennessee and then when she he calls her back. After migs were they are face to face but those are very few scenes. Okay win the first meeting when we just like at one half half like was he not like right. They are camera doesn't like i. I think that it's better when it's just back and forth it's like easier to make the conversation seem more normal and it's normal as talking to a cannibal can be i guess authentic. We all want to talk to you. I know authentic so. Let's pivot over to lane buffalo bill. Yeah he's pretty freaky. So i have all sorts of things about buffalo bill so i want to say. Ted levine. the actor is he really. I was kinda reading an article. It just so happened. In article in rolling stone came out two days ago about silence of the lambs because of the thirtieth anniversary he really. He wanted this role and he fought for this role. And as you guys may predict he had a kind of a hard time getting roles afterwards because he everybody kind of identified him with buffalo bill. he wasn't heat. He was in some other major movies but it does. That's a hard thing to break out of what i'll say about his like. He had a lot of ideas that he brought to buffalo. Bill and i know that buffalo bill was based on ted bundy. Ed get three different weather guys. I never heard of were awful human beings so basically like the scene where he when he first meets catherine martin and he's got a cast on his arm and he's got the van with the. That's totally ted bundy. Ted bundy's to do. But the other things like skinning the women that was another series ca- malcolm a bunch of serial killers I will i wanna talk about probably the thing. That's kind of been the most criticized about silence of the lambs is his depiction of and i'm using this language on purpose. Because it's what's used in the movie as a transsexual character. That at the time. And i think continuing to this day it's getting much better but a lot of times characters who maybe their gender identification wasn't clear or even their sexuality wasn't clear like basic instinct roxie or you know that for those of you who have seen it that they often either were the dying early more. They were murderers and so the lgbtq community was not super psyched with having somebody and again. I'm putting sneer quotes transsexual which we now know is transgender Again i know even within that word. There's a lot of different ways to identify. So i just wanna be clear but what they say in the movie and what jonathan demme consi- continued to say but this was also written into the book and the script. It and i'll just quote doctor lector. He says to cleary's our billy wasn't born a criminal flurries. He was made one through years of systemic abuse. Billy hates his own identity. You see and he thinks that makes him a transsexual but his pathology is a thousand times. More savage and more terrifying. What jonathan demme explained. Was that buffalo. Bill wasn't a gay character nor was he necessarily transgender. He was tormented man. He hated himself and he wished he was a woman because that would have kept him away from himself. It would have taken him as far away from who he was as possible. And so now historically the character the actors and actresses especially like Jodie foster is a gay woman herself. They have said that again. The language that was used was not great and that they could see the pattern of characters not being represented in a fair way but the movie is trying to say he really wasn't translate. It wasn't trying to put him as the bad guy because he was transgender lake. Route wasn't even in the equation. And i have a. I have a clip of the there people protesting outside theaters and all that and i had a little clip on. I think jonathan demme talking about that very thing. The interesting thing about that is that we were being picketed. Our film sort of that lumped in with basic instinct. Were they Some of them. More activist groups really that it portrayed. A gay character is being psychopathic and that audiences would be confused into believing that you know if you were gay or transgender. That must mean you're a serial killer son. Maybe you can help you i can. There's no real suggested. As far as i'm concerned of gay lifestyles in this guy. There is a mentioned earlier that in his youth jayme gum had hada homosexual relationship with one person and to me. I thought that click. He's tried everything now. He's trying to turn himself literally into a woman skinning women to put their skin on where the movie and that character tumbled into a tradition of negative gay stereotypes in movies and some individuals were quick to pounce on the character and an oversimplified way. But i think it has vanished from the legacy of the film because on further inspection. I think people really realize that that was kind of a superficial reading of the movie. And it's a film that will last forever. It's there's a timeless quality to it to the way it's shot to the way it's cast there's nothing trendy.

"Of these men over the the shorter woman. Remember the scene where to get on the elevator. And there's like nine guys behind her and she just steps into the elevator all by herself. What came to my mind was when they're doing the fbi training and they're having to turn with the pillow and a guy will hit a pillow and then she'll turn to somebody else and she's the only she has a best friend who's a woman but they are both in this situation where men are just pounding this pillow and there. She's like a foot shorter. She's holding her own but it's ten times harder for her for them. You don't have that strengthening what i've heard about punching is you have to be more strategic you have to throw your entire body behind you and not just your arm. It's just different and they're totally watching her while she's doing training like she can't get away from it and didn't really mention it. I mean he tried to make her uncomfortable a little bit but he'd never really seemed like he was interested in her that way. I don't think he sexualize. But the woman aspect right when she shows up he tells her what she smells like a member. He's like Not the way mixed us but he tells her the kind of perfume she wears and then she also he also comments on her shoes. He comments on what she's wearing So he so the woman aspect he wouldn't saw anton that with a man ya and so she has to learn it. So one of my favorite. It's a really quick moment but when they are going to do the autopsy on the girl who was pulled from the river and jack crawford wants clarisse to come. But then there's all these men county troopers or whatever it is. Jack is like he says to them. We need to go in another room. I'm not doing this this is not verbatim. But he's like we need to go into another room and they all look at her like we can't talk about such a thing in front of a woman and then they leave and all these cops are left to stare at her god. It's so uncomfortable. And then later when they're done. Jack says to them in says to clarissa car okay. Great victims victims skin removed. This time in two large sterling told us sheriff. We shouldn't talk in front of a woman. It really burn. You didn't. it was just smoke starling. I had to get rid of them matters. Miss crawford cops look at you to see had act matters or taken the money only one. That doesn't like crawford in this movie. You're not supposed to. He's fine nothing like he's not the worst of them. Obviously i mean there's the doctor and hannibal but he's none of the men are super likable. I don't think you're supposed. I don't think. I like the way that camera just said that. I don't think it's like they're trying to make him the villain by any means. But clarissa smarter than jack crawford and jack crawford really holds all the power writing But that moment is a bit redeeming for him because all she says it matters so when you do that they look to you to see how you should treat a woman it matters so at least that's really quick moment for thirty years ago. That's good Him like you'd think we'd come further but what else. What else is there to say. I mean in that scene. remember right after. I don't remember why. But he tells all the cops to leave and she has asked him three times to go before they actually listen and she did that on her own. She's i go home now. Goodbye we got this. And then they don't move. And i'm like oh. Is this going to be like really embarrassing. And then she's like go. She holds our own and she. You know at first seeing you know. They're all like getting ready for this autopsy in it first. She's really overwhelmed by it but she's able to do her work. I mean i think it's probably her first autopsy right you know. And what she sees but like the white powder under her nose. I know thought she was like i was kinda confused. Unlike which part she was just like. That's the way she talks him which part she was about to start crying totally well. That's jodie foster. And i do a quick jodie foster thing sugar so interestingly enough todd actually just watch taxi driver for the first time the other night but he and i have been talking about taxi driver because the rewatch ables one of my favorite podcasts. Just did taxi driver and one of the big parts of that. Movie is jodie foster. She's twelve years old. She plays a prostitute in the movie. Which is a big deal in itself. Having a young girl bubble ma for those of you who know the story. What ended up happening is sexy. Driver came out. john. Hinkley shot president reagan. And he said he did it to get the attention of jodie foster so what what happened after that. Is she kind of pulled away from acting for a while she. She stopped pretty much and went to yale and digital the more typical paths for a young woman and then when she came back to acting she did the accused that was like the first big role she did. Maybe she did a few others before. But the accused was the first starring role and she wanted an academy award for it and then the very next year was when silence of the lambs was casting and she wanted the part and it initially was going to go to show shell feifer. Because that's who jonathan demme thought would be good in it and she passed Because it's too violent and meg ryan passed. I the way i heard. It is one and jodie foster was too and you know what. I probably didn't read the right research and the way debt because this was demis words that i heard this morning he said when we knew michelle. Pfeiffer wasn't going to be the one he because jodi foster express interest knowing michelle pfeiffer was the number one and he's like i just wanna be your second choice in case it doesn't work out so after pfeiffer was out of the picture She went to meet him and he said the way that she just walked up to him. And i don't think she's being in character jodie foster's a fierce strong smart woman and he's like that's claris. Just the way she walked up to him was enough for him to say yes. This is your role so basically. She won the academy award for best actress in nineteen eighty nine for the accused and then won the academy award for in nineteen ninety-two for silence of the lambs. Good road that's like tom. Hanks thing that's like a philadelphia forrest. Gump she was actually nominated for best actress for taxi driver to donate nineteen seventy seven when she was twelve. Yeah wow so. The youngest was tatum. O'neal think she's even younger moon. Oh but she won so maybe she was in the youngest dominy. Jodie foster was also nominated for now. But i i didn't love now. Who's now now. Nelson's an interesting movie. Let's talk about that right now. Because i have other things i need to say. This is about jonathan demme. And how he direct when characters are talking to starling. They often talk directly to the camera. Correct now before. I move on. Obviously you guys notice that. What did you think of that. Style of filmmaking. Okay i'm seeing a lot of movies. It's not my favorite style. I like seeing like just two characters talking to each other. I don't like close ups on one face but it was very genius in the way it made me uncomfortable and like it me feel like every character was like somehow villain for a second like it made me like suspect clarisse like the first time. 'cause whenever you do that in a movie where they don't do that a lot like you think someone's up to something so it definitely set the tone for the movie so good when she is talking to them includes is talking to them. She's always looking slightly off camera director. Jonathan demme has explained that this was done so the audience would directly experience her point of view but not there's hence encouraging the audience to more readily identify with her. I don't know what else i got. part of. Jodie foster's deal for doing this movie. Was that orion pitchers would also allow her to direct a movie and she directed little man. Tate which i love i love. It was a great movie. And then last. But not least after jody cameron you'll relate to this little man tate She plays the mom and her sign is so aware of what's going on in the world like he so we could call it his i. Iq was high but really it was his e. q. And so he would see newspapers of like things going on in the world and it would make him so sick so he just had like. I think you have really a high q. Like that jimmy. And so i kind of feel like you could relate to that where you kind of have to put up a shield and be like. I can't take all this crap. So but yeah. That was a good movie. I don't think it got the kudos at Trying to think of. I'm trying to find the right spot. So this is about jodie. Foster and.
