"Playoffs? I believe that Philly can challenge in the Eastern Conference. I don't have them in the same tier as Brooklyn Milwaukee and Boston. I guess my question mark with them is and this is I hate saying this because it actually sounds like a TV pundit, but it's the truth. Other than Doc winning obviously the hardened and maxi Tobias, they've never had obviously hard made the Conference Finals, but they've never had a finals run. There's no sort of reference point in the playoffs. And with those other teams, I have reference points. And then I think those other teams are really good. The key for me with Philly will be shooting. And if they have a cold series shooting the basketball, that's really worrisome. When they're three point shores when the Yang's hitting and Melton's hitting and Tobias is hitting they're a great basketball team. It all comes down to George Yang just as we thought just as we all. Hey, this is the whole thing. I've been on this rant all season and I will say this as many times. Everybody always says, oh, your bench doesn't matter in the playoffs. I say bullshit. Sorry if I can't cuss on the show. Yeah. No, listen, the bench matters. A series a game can be determined in these four to 6 minutes stretches when you rest a Joel embiid when you rest a Nikola Jokić. Like those stretches of games matter in the playoffs. And so if you have a guy like George Yang, who can get hot in a series or can swing a couple games, that could be the determining factor of who advances. Hey, look, I'm a hawks fan. You don't have to tell me that when they made that run to the Eastern Conference Finals, those Solomon hill minutes were the most terrifying minutes of my life. Yeah. I mean, I lived it in the playoffs, a number of times where, you know, whether it's you're taking a guy out or you're putting a guy off the bench in and you have that feeling of trepidation, like we got to win these minutes. They're important. And it's not always the star guy that determines that. Well, so one more Easter conference player we wanted to ask you about is a gentleman by the name of Donovan Mitchell. He had that 71.11 assist game last week, which is still just surreal to even say out loud. So what has been your impression of Mitchell during his brief time in Cleveland? I know from speaking with Donovan on the podcast on the old man on the three back in October and from conversations I had with different people who are close to him over the off season, his thing was like he didn't feel like he was as efficient last year as he's been. And he wanted to get better and he's definitely gotten better. And I've told him this before to me he's got one of the best foundational bases on a jump shot that I've ever seen in my life. Mitchell steps back. He has another Donovan Mitchell now has 6 threes on the evening. He's behind in the ball game with 28. Every night, Brad. Every night he does his job. It's just so repeatable. The mechanics are so good. His legs and lower body have such a strong base. And he's shooting the ball really well. He's attacking, he's a film freak. I mean, the guy watches film all day every day. And he's just getting better and better. It's just an accumulation of work and knowledge with a great fit with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Well, the Cavs before Tuesday night before Mitchell's return to Utah, by the way, were fourth in the east, obviously they made that win now moved to bring in Mitchell, but the core of the team is still pretty young. Do you think they are ready in theory to make a deep run in the playoffs or does this feel like a team that needs a little more time to gel? If I look at metrics and I look at the eye test and not the narrative around a young team, the answer to that question is yes. Again, my concern is them figuring out who that 5th guy is because look, I think Kevin Love can have moments in a playoff series. I think chetty Osman can have moments in a playoff series, but right now it's like they're doing it this sort of 5th guy by committee, whether it's Keras lever or Lamar Stevens or Isaac okoro and I don't know if it's Jay Crowder as the guy, but to me they need that prototypical 6 years ago, three and D guy. A guy that doesn't need the ball in his hands. A guy that can knock down spot up threes and a guy that can guard bigger wings on the other end. And a core on Stevens haven't shown that they can do that from behind the line and Keras levers more of an on ball guy and not quite the defender you would want at that position. So that's the concern. But look, top 5 defense, top 5 net rating, two guys that can really score two guys that can protect the rim, Kevin Love can knock down. They have a lot that you like about a team. But again, I got them in tier two with Philly. Okay, well, so let's widen this out to look at the whole Eastern Conference, JJ. We haven't talked much about two of the other top teams at Celtics and bucks. I know there's a lot of season left, but if you had to, if you had to bet on one team, any team to represent the east and the finals, who is your pick as of right now? It's Boston. I think they're the most complete basketball team. Brogdon has made a big difference to me, and I think come playoff time. He'll be really impactful. My concern with Milwaukee is Chris Middleton. If he can't be the all star Chris Middleton that we've seen for a number of years as good as Giannis and as good as Brooke is and drew, I just don't think that they're the best team in the east without Chris Middleton being that good. But on the other side of that, they haven't shot the ball well. Chris has been out of the lineup, drew's been out of the lineup some, and yet we're sitting here and they're two and a half games out of first place. Giannis has been awesome. Again, at the game Monday night in New York. I've called a few of his games, but I've seen him play in person now four times this year, including the games I've called. And I'm just so impressed with his passing. And so the addition of a guy like Joe ingles who last night hit 5 threes, I think that's meaningful. I really do, because Giannis is such a great passer. You mentioned Boston a bit. You mentioned the impact of brogden. I mean, we know we know what Tatum and Jalen Brown do. But what is it about that team on the whole that makes it your pick? No defensive liabilities, shooting, rim protection, too high level shot creators and the pieces all fit together. And they have depth. So if I'm looking at roster construction for a 2023 NBA team, I think they probably have the most complete roster. "They are a Tesla under the luxury tax. They're like 65 grand. I have no idea what a Tesla costs. I just thought that was an expensive car. There are Tesla under the luxury tax. And when you're a Tesla under the luxury tax, you do not want to buy a Tesla that takes you over the luxury tax. It's just not worth it. It's not that nice of a car to incur the penalty and not get the windfall you get for being under the tax. I don't know. But they also don't have a ton of expendable salary. They're not trading sharp, Payton just signed. Josh Hart's got a really team friendly contract. He does a big big part of their team. Grant Simon's Lillard are keepers. Nasir little is on a contract that he's been injured most of the year. He'll come back at some point. He's on a four year $28 million extension. If he just plays, he's going to play himself into being a much more powerful trade asset than he is now if they ever want to trade him. I don't see, I don't know. They'll search around, but they're pretty solid team. They could use a backup center. They could use another wing, they could use lots of things, but I don't know. You see anything for them? It's hard, you know? I mean, as you said that they're tax situation, they're draft pick. I mean, the other night, they've got some injuries in the Minnesota loss, their bench was Shane sharp, jabari walker kian Johnson, Julie Eubanks, right? Like that was that's kind of who they are. I think they're 5 and one in games that Lillard scores more than 36. So that's certainly something to keep an eye on. I mean, the heart and he's been good for him. The heart situation is interesting because he's got a funky contract where basically he's got a he's got a team, he's got a player option for next year and if he opts in, then the contract becomes non guaranteed. So like, are you concerned he's going to become a free agent? What the cost is going to be? I don't think you have to move off on him. You could probably just let that situation play the play out here, but I mean, besides him, it's really like, you know, the winslows, the, as I mentioned, those are your, that's your, I mean, he's been out, that's your $4 million guy. And you're not going into the tax. So you're kind of who you are right now. They could just use a minute sopper, even if Kuzma is better than a minute stop or bodon which is those guys, even if they just filled minutes that are currently going to the guys you just mentioned, even Winslow, like I'm not really sure I trust the justice Winslow thing if you get healthy. But again, the salary makes it hard. Josh Hart, the one thing I love Josh Hart regular ten things like guy, one of the best rebounding guards in the recent history of the NBA. He's weirdly just stopped shooting threes. I don't know if you noticed that he's taking 1.9 threes per game. And he's passing up too many open looks to drive into nothingness. Now he can make plays out of that sometimes, but they need him to shoot threes. He's an average three point shooter. That's fine. He's got to shoot him. And they just need dame to stay healthy. And I think they're, I don't know if they're going to crack the top 6. But I think their floor is pretty steady as long as name stays healthy. Yeah, I mean, just because I had to put a trade in for everyone from my Cleveland section I put Josh Hart, you know? Josh Hart for jetty Osman and Lamar Stevens. Like, you know, they're looking for two bodies for one for two bodies for one. I don't know what it does for Portland. It gives them another bench guy and some shooting here, but I just, you know, I think, as you said, I think they're in a, although they're tuned 5 in the last 7, compared to where they were last year. It's hard. It's hard kind of going from the bottom in the lottery here to be back in the top 6 where they are right now. What's the most they can give grant tomorrow? One 13 for foreign, right? Yep. I wonder if he even signs that what can you do if he waits to be if he does he have a player option for next year? What is he? Just straight free agent bird rights. So if I'm him, do I just wait it out and he's having an absolutely outstanding season. All star worthy, right? I think you could probably talk about him as a potential reason, there's gonna be a lot of guys as a reserve. 49%, 45% from three, solid defense. Like if I'm him, do I just say, I know that that was sort of assumed by everyone in the world when you guys made this straight for you, but I think I'll just wait it out and see if I get the max. Yeah, I mean, the market, the market, this off season is better than it was last year when there was four teams. I think we're looking at 9 that maybe can go to 12 or 13. A lot of those are the rebuilds. The Orlando's of the world's Houston, that whole group, Indiana. Maybe not Indiana. We don't put them in there. Detroit is former team. I don't think that's going to happen. But there is a more of a marketplace for. Players like him this off season than it was probably this past July. I'm glad we talked about these four teams. These are four really interesting teams in the thick of the play in slash playoff race. You could put them anywhere, I mean, if you just look at the west now barring injury and someone's always injured, particularly in New Orleans, everyone's always injured. Denver Memphis, New Orleans, has kind of solidified itself as a top three. There's a three game gap then between Dallas and Sacramento at four and 5, but the difference between four and 9 is very, very thin. Like those teams, the teams we've talked about other than Utah, maybe Utah too could go anywhere in there. So it's an interesting group of teams, Bobby marks, when does this come out? 16th, my poor editors, I'm already up to 11,000 words. And I am on the ems today. Miami is today. Miami, Minnesota, Milwaukee. I'm going to have to set aside, I don't know what I'm going to do. If the weather is nice, I'll maybe sit outside, print it out, gold school, get a little cup
Mitchell leads Cavs to 105-90 win over 2022 playoff foe Mavs
"Donovan Mitchell scored 34 points at the Cleveland Cavaliers routed the Dallas Mavericks 105 90. Cavs who led wire to wire improved to 18 and 11, while the Mavericks dropped to 14 and 14. Cavaliers caused JB bickerstaff says their defense set the tone from the outset. It was right away. We didn't wait. We didn't smooth our way in. And we led with our defense, like our defense set the tone tonight. Cavaliers defense limited the Mavs of 39% from the field. Lamar Stevens had 18 points 11 rebounds for Cleveland while Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 30. Bob Stephens, Dallas

"See you, sir. All right, let's continue our tour through teams that mostly stood pat in the off season, but are worth some discussion nonetheless with the rising exciting play in losers of 20 22 in the east. The Cleveland Cavaliers who have not done much of anything in the off season, but that doesn't mean they're boring to help us get through them. Chris fedor from Cleveland dot com who just owns this beat. How are you, sir? Zach, I'm doing great, man. How are you? I'm hanging in there. Let's talk some cab driver. It took some calves. They got some jerseys. They got things like, what do people think of the new jerseys? They're happy with the new jerseys. You know how this goes, Zach, there's a segment of fans that are going to be happy with them and there's a segment of fans that hate change. So I would say it's mixed reviews on the jerseys. Some people wanted them to do a little bit more and other people are upset that they look like practice jerseys. They can't possibly be as bad as Utah's revamped look. Which looks like Utah is New Jersey's looks like they're intentionally not trying. Some sort of avant garde public art project like how bad how little effort can we put into making professional jerseys before people will get angry and this was this amount it turns out. Let's start with the most important question, which is, is sex land in jeopardy of a breakup being destroyed all together. Colin Sexton is sort of the biggest free agent still left hanging. All signs point to, I mean, either a prolonged standoff or a prolonged standoff that ends with him. I guess coming back because I don't know what else he's gonna do. I think you reported last week details that you had heard about the latest offer. Can you share them here? Yeah, so I had heard that the Cavs made him a multiyear offer around 40 minute million total. And that makes sense, right? That's kind of like foreshadowed by some of the other moves that they made throughout the course of the off season, Zack. And I think it's telegraphed by where they are in terms of the celery cap. The Cavs do not want to go into the luxury tax. They do not want to start that clock this year. So there are about 13 million away from the luxury tax right now. And you know this, Zack, they can make other moves around the margins. Lamar Stevens is on a non guaranteed deal. Dean wade is on the non guaranteed deal. They could try and package a couple of picks with Dylan windler and consolidate the roster, maybe jetty Osman as well. But the bottom line is, well, you just in 30 seconds, you just went through just a who's who of anonymous Cleveland cavalier role players that only sickos like me and you know. And by the way, there will be no broaching the subject of trading dean wade on the low post podcast because dean wade might be the most anonymous player in the NBA. He's sounds like first he has the Dwayne Wade D wade curse, which was amplified by the debris halcyon Dwyane Wade era in Cleveland that went so horribly. Second, he sounds like an accountant. Like, oh, I gotta call my, I gotta call dean today. Go ahead and do my taxi. Dean wait for all your accounting needs, dean wait. But good things happen whenever dean wade is on the court for the Cleveland cuddlers. They play him at the three. They play him at the floor. I'm beginning to think they could play dean way that the one and good things would happen. So Chris fedor be careful just using dean wade's name in vain on the low post podcast. I didn't mean to do it so flippantly and JB bickerstaff, Zach, not to get off on a tangent or anything like that. He calls dean his lucky charm. The guy that he starts when everything else is not working for them or they have a bunch of injuries or things along those lines. But the point is, like if they need more financial flexibility, there can be a path to it. But I don't think they feel like they need to go that direction. They're looking at this situation saying the market has spoken for Colin Sexton. We're giving him an offer that we consider is reasonable based on what else is out there and available to him, which is essentially nothing, so they're looking at this as a multiyear offer for around 13 million annually. It's higher than the mid level exception, right? It's higher than the qualifying offer. It gives him enough security and enough cash and it also allows him the flexibility to become an unrestricted free agent down the road. So that's where they're at right now. And it just seems like from the very beginning of all of this, Zach, that the Cavs have had evaluation on Colin Sexton and Sexton's camp have had an evaluation on what they feel like they're worth. And they're just not close enough to get a deal done. Well, that was the case before the season when Sexton's camp was a different camp, but different agencies represented him then. He's now clutch. And you have to feel for him because I think the extension offers then we're much higher than three years, 40 million, and he turned them down, thinking justifiably, I just averaged 24 points a game on 47% shooting or something like that. Shot the three really well. I'm a hell of a player. I'll have a market, then he gets injured. The team plays well and he's sort of left out hanging in the wind. I mean, his qualifying offers $7 million. That seems like a stretch that he would take that. If I'm him given the amount of teams that are going to have cap space in the next couple of seasons, I don't want to sign a three year $40 million deal. I might do a two plus one at that at that number with the one being at my option so I can opt out. I bring this up to say he's kind of a forgotten man right now when people talk about the Cavs. It's Garland, mobley, Allen. Oh my God, the super big lineup with marketing at the three. That kind of worked and Rubio's back in January ish when he recovers from an ACL injury. Kevin Love was second, I think, in 6 man of the year voting last year. Up and coming, rising team. To me, I think Sexton is an important player. In the sense that even in just the short term sense, he's a good player. No matter what you think of Colin Sexton his limitations, his size is defense his shoot first shoot second shoot third mentality, his lack of playmaking, which I frankly think he's a better passer than he's been sort of pigeonholed as, but he's a good player, and if he's the 6th man or the 7th man on this team, and you have a bench of eventually Rubio, but how will Neto for now a Coro who I think they will turn into a bench player or at least a plan I think for now is for him to become coming off the bench Sexton love and jetty Osmond and I just can't quit jetty Osmond either and of course dean wade will be playing at least 40 minutes a game. I think to calves are legit, good team. Like I don't think that I don't think they're record last season was a fluke.

"But you know, I just don't think there's enough right now creativity beyond Garland on the floor to really happen. I mean, they kind of need love out there, but they often feel like they can't endure him out there defensively. He didn't play in the fourth quarter in the latter half of the fourth quarter of that game. I just think this is a very incomplete team. I think the poor Cleveland Cavaliers who've been an amazing story and I'm hugely optimistic about their future. I just think right now they're not a great team and they're playing against, as you said, the whole net. And I just don't think that's in your asking me to rank four games. It's not that interesting to me. Kevin Durant right now, and it's not just the pin downs and the pull ups and everything else. If he is driving in the middle third of the floor, you know, it is absolutely fatal, particularly now that you have curry on the wing, ankle or no angle. Drummond's a capable enough roadblock. Bruce Brown is some Martian other sized one or undersized 5 or this size three. I have no idea what he is, but he's an exceptionally effective basketball player playing with the kind of skill set that Irving and Durant and the other guys have. And I'm just down on this series, not because I don't love the Cavs. I just kind of miss the Allen cabs. I just think this is a case where he was so integral to what they do. I love mobley. He still sort of work in his way back rhythmically. I don't feel like he's the same mobility. I saw a couple months ago, and I'm just sort of sad because I want the if you can give me the January cabs against this, this is my number one game. That isn't happening. Jared Allen's absence looms large, not only on defense, but the nets are the worst defensive rebounding team in the league and Cleveland's shot at this game. Part of it lies in just pounding them on the boards and he's, you know, their best offensive rebounder and put bad guy and that's not there. And you mentioned love the nets will hunt love every time he's on the floor, which reduces the effectiveness of the triple big lineups now. There's only one triple big lineup. It's love marketing and mobley and it's just, you know, it's got an easy and easy spot to pick at. I'm also interested in who gets the Durant assignment in this game because they will use a Coro on Irving. They have preferred anyway to use a core on Irving or harden when Hardin was on the nets which feels like 9 years ago that James Harden was a member of the nets, and they've tried marketing as the primary guy on KD. Okay, I mean, he's big, he moves his feet, okay? They've tried dean wade, who's injured. Dean wade, got it fine, by the way, deep weight was, he was solid early in the year under it. He had a couple of, I mean, that was their most effective defender, which isn't saying a lot on ramp, but it was fine, but now he's gone. So, you know, I mean, marketing was kind of, I wouldn't say a disaster, but it wasn't good. They've tried Lamar Stevens. I assume we will see that look some when Stevens gets in the game. Their best option is probably mobley and they've been willing to switch the mobley has started games now. He's their starting center. My guess is he'll start on Drummond because they want him on the glass and around the rim, even though Drummond can push him around, but they've been willing when KD and Drummond run pick and rolls, they've been perfectly happy to switch mobley onto Durant, so maybe they'll just keep that set up, but he's probably their best individual option to guard Durant one on one. None of these are great and just Durant and Irving are amazing all world players. By the way, Isaac okoro I don't know what to make of this guy. There was a moment at the end of last year where he started scoring when I was like, okay, and at the beginning of this year he was taken into the rim and transition and it's just all then he got hurt and he missed time his usage rate is down to like ten or 11%. He just never actually does anything anymore and he's a good defender but he's not like Kawhi Leonard. Like he's gonna have to start doing stuff just some stuff like even if it's just shoot more threes or pump and go and finish at the rim. It's just hard it's hard to be PJ Tucker but as a two and just do nothing on offense and by the way and not shoot corner threes like PJ Tucker. So he's an interesting guy to me. I just don't think they have enough answers defensively or offensively frankly and garlands are stud, but I don't think that's going to be enough. I have loved watching Garland kind of master the pick and roll game this year. I mean, he was already good and I just wish he had a few more tools in this one. You know, I like a Coro as a glue guy, but you can't, again, I mean, he's not a weak side threat. He's not going to hit you from the corner. You can kind of I wouldn't say you could slough off him, but you don't need to pay him a hell of a lot of attention. Yes, yes, yes, you can. I mean, he missed a big wide open three in the corner as sort of the game was getting away in the fourth quarter. I mean, I like him potentially as sort of a guard glue guy, but again, you know, those that position isn't normally available as sort of an average size wing on a roster. I mean, you have to be a PJ Tucker. We might have inflated the definition of glue guy, or we had definition creep or something. But I don't know. I mean, a Coro, I also wonder if it is he on. Is he one of your 5 best options on the floor? If this game was within reach in the fourth quarter, meanwhile I sound like I'm talking, I mean, I do feel badly, like I'm sound like, hey this is gonna be a blowout 6 minutes into the third quarter. And maybe that's my expectation. I do feel like I'm in a little down because I've really enjoyed Cleveland season, and I love where they're going. As a team. The nets record with Durant, it was 32 and 18 at one point I don't know what it finished at. That was like a week ago. So it's something like that. They're at home. They're playing a team that's missing one of its two or three best players and would be an underdog anyway. I mean, I don't really see it. Bruce Brown, he'll probably start guarding Garland, which is an interesting matchup..

"Has a realistic chance to win four straight playoff rounds. Are there anyone's top three in the east right now? No, I mean, even go to FanDuel. I was looking at the east ads and they were 5th in the east. Yeah, Milwaukee plus two 50. Brooklyn plus 360, which is crazy. Celtics plus four 20. Miami plus four 40 in Philly was 5 to one. I'll tell you what they did do. They beat the shit out of the lorry market in Lamar Stevens at Davis frontline today. They really did. That was fucking worked. Listen, part of my turn around, I'm just like, I think McCollum was better than I think he was getting credit for. And I think carden might be a little worse than people are factoring in like, oh, he's just not happy in Brooklyn. Went a little deeper than that. So we'll see, all right, we're going to end this draft. With our apologies to the guys who didn't get drafted. Carl Anthony towns. He can't be drafted. He played himself out of the draft. It was a great job. He would have been a top three pick the last three. He came back for his junior season. Dame Lillard too easy. I don't feel like it's unexpected if it gets traded. I would say it's I would expect it more than I would unexpected. Wait, this didn't turn into a surprise draft, though, then he should have been taken. No, we said unexpected final season. It was unexpected that this was their final season. I don't think it's unexpected. The ones we thought were most likely didn't we? Most likely that they also.

"Because that is their asset they can't really attach much to it because they've traded all their first round picks. They forfeited their second round pick this season in the tampering in the book Don Bogdanovich tampering thing. And so I don't really know what I guess they could trade. They have to trade. I've heard they could get a first round pick for divincenzo. Well, I don't care. I'm trying to win the championship. I can't trade a rotation player for a non player. I have to get a player. So I guess they have to look around and say, is there a player on a long-term deal that fits our team that their team doesn't want and they like divincenzo? We can throw out names. I don't know if there's any names you like. I don't particularly love any. I might just keep them. Yeah. Well, keep them and then you figure it out in the off season. And then as you said, like, a first round pick doesn't really do much for you if you're trying to win a championship. Even if it's, you know, pick that's in the 20s right now. And I know it then pat Connaughton gets hurt, and you're like, we're down to 6 guys. Yeah. I mean, because what you've had, you know, the Rodney hood, the guys that you signed in the off season and really haven't the minimum guys really haven't, you know, you're playing like 7 man rotations, 8 man rotations. Yeah, I mean, I don't think that I would be surprised if they trade Dante for that reason, right? I think they look at it as we're trying to win again, and he's, you know, look, we see all these teams, like everybody's trying to find a wing players. Like they have with him and grace and Allen and pat Connaughton. They've got an extra wing player that they can, you know, they can play small, they're playing Giannis at center more, especially when you're unsure about your center depth, right? At least they have the ability to play small effectively. So I'd be surprised if they move on from M plus I'm making enough money to where I like to your point. If they could find a longer term piece that may be fits at a similar sour structure, like sure, I could see that, but there's not a ton of those guys in his price range that you're going to say, yeah, this guy can play a similar role to Dante. So I think that I think that makes it tricky. To figure out exactly what they're going to do. We never really talked about Cleveland. The only thing I'll add about them is that you're going to talk where you're going to talk about Cleveland. You've got to go talk on the collective in two minutes, you're going to have to go. But by the way, speaking of Grayson Allen, what do you have to do to get suspended for more than one game in the NBA? Do you have to take a literal weapon out on the court? You have to take a two by four or a crowbar onto the court somehow. People what do you have to do? We've somehow gotten to the point where unlike any sort of stuff from 30 years ago, we see now is, you know, this can't be happening. And yet people can't get suspended either for more than a game. It's an interesting juxtaposition there. Well, James Harden didn't James Harden complain last night that you can't touch anybody on defense without without getting whistle for a fail. And yet he claims he's getting filed all the time on offense and it's not getting called. While he's shooting more frequently last year, it's great. I don't want to keep you waiting. I don't want to keep Ryan horse waiting. He's a very important man. All right, I'll see you guys later. Thanks for having me. All right, we've lost Tim Bon thumbs because he's got to go to Brian Horace Brian is a very, very harsh podcast host. If you are late, there are punishments doled out, like he does not tolerate tardiness, Bobby Mark. So Tim's gone, we haven't talked about the calves who are so wildly exceeding expectations, even though they've now dropped a fourth 5th actually in the east. They still have the best point differential in the conference. They have all these really good young players despite Colin Sexton and being injured. They have picks. They have Rubio's expiring, they've been linked to basically every guard that's available in the league. I know for sure they have called about some guards that people don't realize might be available and maybe aren't available. They are searching everywhere for more ball handling. What is your read on how aggressive this team is and how aggressive should they be considering they are ahead of schedule? I think they are aggressive, I think if you look at the top 6 teams, the teams that we've talked about, if you would, if you could pick one that would have multiple trades by when the tenth is over, it's would be Cleveland, just because as you said, they've got picks to move. They've got players contracts to move, they've got disabled player exceptions. They've got trade exceptions. They've got a little bit of everything here. And I think, you know, certainly, for me a little bit, I think the Garland injury is a little bit of a concern. Back in July, they held him out of a game recently. I think they've said it's been something that's just kind of been lingering. Yeah, I mean, you look at they lost in Houston on Wednesday night and you look at kind of like the bench where you've got basically outside of Kevin Love, you know it's a mix match of veteran minimum guys, right? Like you're just, you know, if you're going to do something, it's going to be with your bench unit. I mean, that's the reality of it, where the pangos, Ed Davis, Lamar Stevens, dean wade group. You know, spot minutes here and there, but like you're gonna need a guy to come in and give you 18 to 20 minutes in a playoff game. I will say every time dean weighed plays and he's been starting for Lowry marketing for the last bit. Despite the fact that I've now seen dean weighed play, I don't know, a hundred NBA game 50 MB games whatever. You go through the sensation of like, oh, not great that they're starting dean wade. And then like 8 minutes into the game, you're like, oh, I forgot this guy kind of doing helpful stuff everywhere on these I don't feel bad, haven't dean wait around. No, I mean, I think two in transitioning a little bit like, is there another point guard out there that you can go out and get? Point guard in some depth, some scoring. That would be my, that would be my wish list if I was Cleveland. I think the rondo trade was just a band aid for right now. I don't think that's the end all be all as far as I'm looking for more point guard help. Yeah, agreed. There are definitely point guards you can get. It's just a matter of like, do you care about Dennis Schroeder, you know, is that changing your life? I mean, maybe it changes their life a little bit just because of what minutes is he replacing. To me, having called around the league to all these teams who have these guards and are talking to Cleveland and this, and that and again, this is prime disinformation season. And frankly, I think that may be a little bit about what's happening with Beal to go back to that. I think there are lots of lots of entities around the league who would have an interest in Beal asking out in Washington and thus an interest in sort of getting the wheels turning on that as if it's like a self fulfilling prophecy..

"Made is the official podcast documenting the making of don't look up. The new film now on Netflix. Out now, on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, Tony, we did the easy part. Disagree with us, but we did the easy part. So of course, you're on the clock. It's the Sacramento Kings. And I just want to share an anecdote here. We got to start and maybe I've got a little bit of something against the kings because I'm from Kansas City and they left years ago and went to Sacramento. But we're looking at 16th year in a row missing the playoffs right now. And I had a general manager tell me that before the season, the kings front office thought that not only were they a playoff team this year, they thought they were a contending team this year and were upset that the prognosticators whoever those are that do the preseason rankings did not have them in the top four in the west wow. The delusions run deep. In Sacramento, it's been a disaster. They've actually drafted okay, tyrese Halliburton, dear and Fox, Davey and Mitchell coming off the bench, defensively, with a little bit of a surprise. You know, Harrison Barnes is good. There's talent there. Again, I think this is a team that we probably see very active at the trade deadline. I'm not sure whatever team's team we're looking at right now. It will not be a Sacramento king pass. Buddy hill Marvin Bagley is another guy. Maybe even Harrison Barnes. We might see gone towards the trade deadline. They're desperate to make the playoffs. So maybe they won't end up at 5, but I'm questioning whether they're going to make the playoffs this year. But if they're at 5, we've talked about the four consensus guys and I think for most people, those are the four consensus guys. So blank slate, Tony, who's your guy in Sacramento at 5? You see me rubbing my hands together, right? 'cause this is where I usually drama. This is why I usually drop a bomb. So you ready for this? I'm so excited. Who's the next great hill, Tony? I'm taking Kindle Brown. Okay, that's not it. That's not a big reason. But he wasn't even on the board before this year. Yeah. You're right. You're right. He's having a great freshman breakout year. Tell us why Kendall Brown. I actually really like this pick for a second. Okay. 6 foot 9 two O 5, two way wing. Those do not grow on trees, right? It's the reason why if you're the Chicago Bulls you hang up if the Detroit Pistons ask you for Patrick Williams, like you say, thanks for no thanks. Take Kobe white. And we'll give you two first round picks and you give me Jeremy grant. But I am not giving you Patrick quince, right? Okay. Isaac a coral can not shoot a lick, okay? But he is making a difference in Cleveland. Just off of his sheer athleticism and his ability to defend, right? His ability to cut. He's actually a really good cutter. So he cuts really well. I get to the basket. He defends. He's got an NBA body. Lamar Stevens. Can't shoot a lick. But he is making a difference because he can defend and he does the right things offensively and he plays off of guys. So what is the lesson here, fellas? That ladies and gentlemen, you can never have enough wings who can defend who are athletic and Kimball Brown from my money is a better prospect at the same stage than Isaac or crawl because he's shown his jump shot is not consistent yet, but he has shown up his jump shot has upside and he's a better score than people realize. And he's a very, very good. Good passer, too, actually. Really great feel for the game. That's actually one thing that really pops for him. Yeah. Pops off the screen for me. I'm a big bet Kendall Brown fan. I was thinking about Johnny Davis, just because of how good he's been this year. And because for me, Johnny Davis doesn't have a lot of weakness in his game. But, you know, I mean, I cover a team right now in the Utah Jazz that could use Kendall Brown. Perfect, yeah. Or you turn Jones or use Jaden McDaniels. You know, you just get those guys with length and athleticism. And if they have a feel for the game, they shoot right up to the top of the board, almost instantaneously, and you see it every year. We've seen this for a couple of years running two years ago, it was Isaac crawl. And Patrick Williams. Scotty Barnes last year, Devon vasel like the year before that. You know, you get any of those guys 6 6 to 6 9 who are athletic, who can shoot the ball, can handle the ball can defend. Those guys are going to the top of the board. So I'm taking Kevin Brown number 5. Can totally live with that. I agree with everything that you said about him right now. I would have taken him 6. To San Antonio, and I think he's a San Antonio player all the way, but I like him in Sacramento for the fact too that this is a terrible defensive team. They start to turn the corner with Davey and Mitchell. In the draft and adding him to the mix, certainly I like that. There is one wing that I like better. And this is a little bit of a risk, but AJ Griffin out of duke is a guy that the more I watch him, the more he reminds me of a young Jimmy Butler. NBA body really tough kid is shot the lights out in duke, which is the one thing that I think gives him a little bit of an advantage over Kindle. But I think Kendall brown's a little twitchier of an athlete and has got the size. Advantage over AJ, but the shooting definitely, I think goes in Griffin's favor. He's only going to be 18 and a little bit over 18 and a half on draft night. And I think this is one of those cases where because of injuries and high school, the last couple of years and then he misses pro day for duke with yet another injury, kind of fell off scouts, radar screens a little bit, but now that he's starting to get consistent minutes, he's moved back into duke's starting lineup right now. And he's never going to be the focal point of that team with Paulo Ben Caro and all the weapons that they have at duke. But he's another guy kind of like Kendall Brown, he pops whenever he's on the floor. And I really love him. And I think these guys to me are kind of like 5 and 6. On my board. So you'll take Kendall brown 5, I'll take AJ Griffin 6. I may have switched the order on interesting what you think about AJ.

"Talk about, let's talk about that. How we looked. I thought he looked better than I expected him to look. I thought he looked great. I mean, look, the shot is the shot. My thing, I kept getting asked on my podcast and others like, well, what if clay is only like 80% of himself? Do we need to recalibrate expectations for clay? Jeff van Gundy was talking a lot about this, you know, I don't know what our expectation should be and Vis-à-vis that. Well, how much will he really nudge up the warrior ceiling if he's only like 80% of old clay? And I'm like, I think we need to, it's not like clay, if you just look at it like this like clay is coming back and he's not taking minutes from a star. You're getting 30 minutes or 35 minutes hovered ends up being when it counts of Klay Thompson and 6 of those are Jordan Poole and 5 of those are auto Porter and 6 of them are pneumonia be aliza and 5 of them are Andre Iguodala Lake. If he's just better than those guys, then it's a big net plus and he already walked onto the floor. I thought he looked awesome. The shot is the shot. I thought he looked mobile and pretty fast. He's got to get back into the rhythm of the offense, but you start to see some of that, the opening play of the second half was a Steph clay pick and roll where he flashed flared out and then made a long two out of it. Defensively, it was interesting to me that they put Wiggins on Darius Garland and put clay on lesser threats like Larry marketing and Lamar Stevens and jetty Osman, but I thought he looked I thought he looked pretty good. I thought he looked a little unsure of himself when he got switched on to Garland like he was giving him almost too much space as if he was afraid of getting blown by, but he bought it up Evan mobile pretty well. He moved his feet pretty well. I mean, like, I don't know what you thought or what the players said after the game. But to me, from afar, he looked pretty much like Klay Thompson. It's hard to imagine that a guy who does not need the ball and doesn't dribble very much and doesn't really have the ball in his hands a lot. Can make other guys better, but I think his impact on the team will do that because he's gonna open up so much more for them. And there were face guarding him last night, but wait from the ball. Like when he even when he was just standing around and I thought he did more standing around a little bit than he will do when he's back in it. But like he was standing there, there was a couple possessions in the first half I think on the left sideline when he was standing there and jetty Osman was like hugging him. And that's it. That's enough right there. Yeah. I would say that the offense looked a little stagnant at times naturally when he was on the floor early especially because obviously he's just coming back. It's not going to be as seamless. I thought it might have been even more seamless just because the dude doesn't need the ball in his hands. But I think he'll get that down. The shot, you know, look, hey, miss a lot of shots, I thought he would make. He had one little spurt where he scored 7 points. He had three shots at a row two mid range and one three, and you could tell he would start to get cooking a little bit. And so I think the shot will be there. The athleticism and the mobility was what surprised me. Defensively, he said, he thinks he's can get back to being that elite defender and he can start he felt good on that standpoint. I think that's where we're really going to kind of see how good he can be because he hasn't been challenged from that standpoint. I mean, the calves, they were going to be overwhelmed from the get go with the way that building was. So they were not going to really kind of challenge the warriors, but that's where I want to see how clay is going to do, but clay did say, listen, that dunk really kind of showed me how he said he said something like, even though I didn't dunk in scrimmages under the bright lights, I felt like I had a little more bounce. And so that was a big indicator for me and what I can do. And he said, from here on out, it's all going to be on up. And, you know, the words are like joking. He got 18 shots up in 20 minutes. And Steph said, that's so Klay Thompson. But I think they were happy to see that because and I think probably more than anyone else, Steph has got to be happy because he had really been struggling coming into this game. I mean, he had that epic two game slump where he had shot the worst he had ever shot on a two game span. Last night, he opens up the game. I think he hit like this first fourth threes or something like that. And then kind of cooled off. But I think Steph is probably looking forward to having somebody there to really kind of shift the defense off a little bit from him. I agree, I think the timing is just perfect for the warriors because they kind of have hit the doldrums of the season where the hot start and all steps Stephan draymond are back and there's clearly like they're playing great and this is their blitzing the league. That's kind of worn off in the last month. So since December 13th, so almost a month, they're actually 24th in offense for the season they're down to 11th in offense. And I think they need a little juice and clay's gonna bring that. I actually didn't even mind the turnarounds and the fading mid rangers because I wonder I'd actually be curious to ask Steve care about this. This is basically the most mathematically optimal quote unquote Golden State shot selection has ever been in terms of like they take the second most threes..

"It sounds like within the next couple of days and so we'll come back out of the health and safety protocols. As you said, they have rondo, rondo will come in now as Garland's backup. But those aren't two guys who really can play together. I mean, they maybe they will just because they kind of have to. It's not ideal. But this puts for at least the next couple of weeks, puts a lot of pressure on guys like Lamar Stevens, who's really more of a three than he is a two. And then Dylan windler, who's been unable to stay healthy for most of his career, the first three years of hit are two and a half years now. I guess he's misconceived, but then they've got RG nem hard on a two way. So you're going to see some names you probably aren't overly familiar with for the calves just because they're going to need those guys. It makes me wonder, we've said over and over again that guy carousel verb makes a lot of sense for this team. Now do you get lavert because you kind of feels almost two roles? He could be. That's starting wing alongside Garland and also then shift over B in effect the back up point guard. If not levert, somebody like that. Again, it sounds like two, three weeks, so it'll be back. Before the end of January, at least the probably about three weeks or so ahead of the trade deadline. But it's a spot where you can use some depth anyway. Yeah, absolutely. Now the cabs have lost four of their last 6 games. They're a bit of a scared, but I'll tell you what, I'm excited for tonight. It's gonna be cabs against grizzlies two of the young teams in the NBA that have really made waves this season and Darius Garland is not on the injury report anymore. So should be back in action tonight to take on John morant. This is gonna be a great matchup. I'm excited for this one. Grizzlies are coming off stomping the nets last night in Brooklyn. That's the only downside for them. They're coming in on a back to back with travel. But I mean, they went in and handled Brooklyn with these. If you look at the final score, probably looks closer than you're probably like, yeah, that's not that bad, but it wasn't as close as that final score looks. I mean, they really hammered that team and really, really took care of them with very little problem. Their Brooklyn was especially led by ja, who was great. Once again, player of the week. John morant. I wish conference. And yes, he was player of the week, which is, I mean, he's been absolutely phenomenal..

"So which, by the way, it's kind of a nice story. The Kevin Love thing because they signed him to this extension with the idea of, this will be a tradable contract. That didn't work out, then there was the whole noise about buyouts. He's not taking his scent less and he could be, you know, Kevin last year. It does not hide his crankiness on a losing team very well. Let's put it that way. There have been many encore semi tantrums where he throws the inbounds pass to the raptors and throws the fastball at jetty Osmond and gets the three second violation on purpose when he's in the lane for 7 seconds because he's like, well, anyone passing the ball. He's playing. It takes the whole game doesn't shoot. He's playing pretty well, and you watch him on the bench. Their game against the kings the other night, it was like the barnum and Bailey circus broke out at whatever that arena is called. It was just I'll loop after a loop after alip. The kings were like the Washington generals and love is on the bench going insane. Like running over to the baseline behind the basket to celebrate and like jumping doing the hip bump jump with Laura Lowry marketing. It's kind of a cool story. So when you look at how many players out there on big contracts are like in, you know, these are disaster situations. We have a disaster in Philly. We have, you know, I don't even know how the John wall situation is going to go. It's not, I don't think it's in a good place. It's just sort of going along. Who plays more minutes this year, John Waller, Kyrie Irving, they're currently tied at zero. It's a really good one. It's another podcast, though. I don't know the answer. There's too much to not see, but I got to believe wall's going to play at some point. You know, and here's the thing, like you just said, Kevin powder for the last couple years had injuries. They couldn't really get anywhere on a buyout. Kevin didn't want to give up any less money. The calves. They said they didn't have bio negotiations, but of course they had they discussed it. What do you crazy? He goes to Team USA. And I know Jerry colangelo probably was too coarse in talking about how bad he was. But he was terrible. You know, they basically said, we can't afford to have you as one of our 12 men, Kevin. I'm sorry. You got to go. And the calves were like thrilled over the moon that Kevin was going to go play in the Olympics because I thought oh my God, somebody might want to trade for him. And not only did he not affect it, but he couldn't get out of training camp. They were like, oh my God. So for the fact that this guy, by the way, he's like, now he's not produced like a $30 million player, but he's a plus player for them. He is the first big off the bench and is the other day he had like four blocks for something like that. 39% on threes can still post a mismatch if you switch. Defensively, it's a problem, but he can pass like he's a he's sort of a tailor made offensive oriented bench big at this point, which is fine. Yeah, he's so the cast problem is that their wing situation as a disaster. And one of the things that's been remarkable in this last ten, 15 games is a jetty Osman. A guy who's been left. He was out of the rotation. At times over the last two years. He was, you know, he was reanimated and has played some of the best basketball of his career. If you look over something that may not continue, I don't know if jetty Osment is because he's like really helping them. You know, they have Isaac Korra, who's really a two. That they were trying to plan at three. And it's just, you know, he's not a good offensive player. He's good defensively, but it was hard to play him with Sexton and Garland. And so now that, unfortunately, Sexton is out for the year. It clarified his role a little bit, but they don't have a scoring in that spot. Their wing situation. They love how hard this guy Lamar Stevens plays. But Lamar Stevens shouldn't be a frontline rotation player, knight and night out. So I don't know if they're focused as they try to improve this roster this year and into the future is going to be to deal with the wings. But at the there's been a breakout year for Garland after sex and got hurt, which is hurt them because you mentioned that the 19th offensive team. They struggle at times to score and not having sex and their leading score in the last couple of years. Factors into that. But it is clarified the roles for girls and it is Garland has benefited from it. And he plays pick and roll with Alan and mobile and he's just devastating. I wrote a couple weeks ago, Garland Allen is becoming central division Trae Young, Clint capela with the chemistry that they have. Garland's ability to disguise whether he's going to shoot a floater or throw a lob. Jared Allen's postgame this year has been a revelation. If he gets a deep seal even against the big guy, he has all these one recent announcer was like, he looks like Kevin McHale out there. All right, Kevin McHale was pretty artistic. Yo, Jared Allen's not very artistic, but he can score. So a corot, you can read the, you can read this any way you want from the perspective of is Sexton still part of the picture. Obviously he's gonna be a restricted free agent. This summer, they didn't extend him. He's injured. It's not a great situation for him. You can read it as exactly what you just said. He gets injured, they move a core from the three to the two, which is his position defensively. And a core, by the way, has been kind of frisky off the dribble lately and in transition. He's physically strong. He's not hesitating he obviously he's shooting 24% for three and no one is he's Tony Allen out there in terms of the defensive attention that he doesn't draw. But he's kind of a physical two guard. Got some interesting stuff going on. And so you want to say, this team is now Garland mobly Alan, Sexton, they've taken off without Sexton. They don't need them. On the flip side, they are thin on the perimeter. You know, jetty went from power forward or playing half as minutes at power forward and now he's weighing all the time. And with the only other red flag is Garland on the floor, there are plus 8 per 100 possessions, a 110.

"That don't guarantee until the cutdown date which is in mid january so three of those guys are sorry two of them played in this. Then there's also a will potentially talk about is broader thomas oates kevin gala is guaranteed. Lamar stevens is not guaranteed. And then i don't know the exact status of broderick thomas at the moment. Are there any of those guys that you wanna talk about. Ho- coven gailey a. Obviously you know didn't even make having his third year guaranteed. He's already on his second contract. Those clippers drafting of centers late in the first early in the second really seems to work out well for them Tambi one with the best one wants to one. They didn't drop the trade for yeah. Yeah so gaily couldn't hit a shot. That was something that he still has some athleticism and some toughness around the room but wasn't able to be efficient and the intrigue for him was with his shooting ability on the offensive and he's pretty mechanical offensively aside from that so i can't say that he really helped himself. Particularly and lamar. Stevens is definitely an nba athletes. Got poor. man's a coro- in some ways His three point shooting a is going to be the biggest you but has the chance to begin improve offensively and then thomas i. I can't say much that that stood out it in the film that i watch so Let's move on here since we're moving at our typical snail's pace congratulations on Now having finished three out of the thirty teams in an hour here and will move to be four. anyway will cities. Thank you off at the art. That's exciting all right. We're back on track baby and this one's going to take a little while to Because it's the detroit pistons and that starts with the number one pick cade cunningham and cunningham itogi some high profile matchups in the early going in and i thought that those weren't as those weren't as as necessarily a strong for him. But i still think you know the the overall package especially with some of his defense and the shooting that k- cunningham showed fifty percent on about nine three pointers per came in the games he played in. I think that the the people who thought he's you know he's going to be a strong player in he said that's gonna work. They got amunition. But i also think that some of the people who were concerned who said that may be maybe he was either that there was a competition which alien-green or that he wasn't that like bus bus proof new level of number one kind of in that that higher that higher error not the data. That maybe there's a little bit of reasonably. That could be possible to. So i would say the two things that stood out to me the most for him in a positive standpoint is number one that the guy just plays heart. It's really impressively among number one picks. He really plays harder than pre aim. That i can remember who is viewed it at this level of prospect and then the other thing is like i think as jumpers me really good And while there may be concerns about his struggles to finish at the basket or from the short mid range. I think that those are over if that overshadowed at least counterbalanced by how good he looked as a shooter. Whether it's coming off of screens both on and off the ball on spot spot-ups i mean it looks like he's gonna has the potential to be forty percent three point shooter on a pretty high volume from the beginning. And that's going to open up a lot in particularly you know. He has the ability to create those shots off the dribble to some degree as well. Yeah you know what if another team has an elite guy who can switch. That could cause some problems for him as an off the dribble you know. Guess what like jason. Tatum has that same issue. As of right now and you know okay did have a lot of turnovers. He's still gonna have to cut down on those at some point you know. He turned it over a ton at oklahoma state. I think once he gets into an mba system with spacing. Also having kelly lennick out there to draw the big away from the basket is going to really help him. Early on in his career you know showed some path flashes as passer You know we didn't get to see him too much in the post where i think he also can be pretty good. His assist numbers worth that high. But that's also because his teammates tyler cook was a frequent offender. Just could not finish off his passes either just bumbling the passo or not converting a good looks either inside or or from the perimeter. So i think this is about what i expected to see from. Kate did he to the extent. You have doubts about him as a finisher note like those weren't dispelled but i think he was able to be productive. He looked like the guy that i thought he was. That'd be my ultimate opinion on it out agree as well and and for me. It was also Him shooting that well on that kind of volume was also notable because his shooting was a later development cut cade was not that kind of guy in high school and in some of the team. Usa steffi didn't so you're you're still trying to build out the sample and like okay is. The is what he did it. Oklahoma state is that real. And i think we're getting pretty dang. Close that now. You wish he got to the free throw line more and made were those free throws you could see that part. You build the sample in that way as well. Something that we think is relevant. I would agree with you on that. Yes he was. He was thirteen out of twenty six from three only took two free throw attempts though in three games. Yeah that was a big concern for me. Yes struggled from to and had seven assists in three games. But as i mentioned. I thought this his passing was very solid and did have twelve turnovers versus seven assists. But and it's not awful four turnovers and three games. But i think that He probably should have had tripled the number of assists that he did at least during the time that i was watching sitting in a lot of different southerly guys to kind of talk about potentially with the hornets. Where do you want to go next. I'll leave it to pistons..

"Man, I had to connect, the dog goes way, we haven't even seen him step foot in the US and the heights through the roof. The second he makes it behind the back pass and them. Emily game against Lamar Stevens and the Cavs, it's going to be through the roof, especially in August watching anything. I people going to page will be although it was, by the way someone just pointed out. It was. Yeah. Boo. In his third year that went that went and played. Yeah. But yeah I was like and that was it. He was gone after that. It was like Mikado before the summer with all the high. After they picked up his third year, they cut him. The people who are really hyped up about it, like just keep that in mind that James Young put on more points along. I mean, obviously, he's older. But I don't know. We'll see. Probably not much older guy was like, see, John super, how would we have talked about the last twenty minutes of this didn't happen? This week. This is huge news. You think I'm against the game talk. I've brought him up before. I know he's a hot name. This is going to be fun. Look these miss these we had to talk about these overseas Mystery Men, these draft-and-stash guys there. So yep. Freaking, cuz nobody knows. You know, you didn't watch them in college, you have no idea what you have. It could be lightning in a bottle and it's like that great. Unknown Is So Exciting, in fact, in most cases until you see them over here and you're like, you know, so you know, I'm All Aboard the game hype train, I can't wait, I want to see it, but, you know, if past experience is tell us something. If yeah men's up like on Celtics, Twitter or like Celtic credit or like celticsblog message boards were like ceiling us YouTube comments that like anywhere like that. Yeah, it's going to get to his head. But if, if you just just probably somewhat normal life off of off of like the social media or the deep dark Celtics web, then it won't go to his head off. Simple as that you get to choose red pill or blue pill. It's his choice. Which one are we didn't take the blue pill? I have a covered phone number keys. And these two were so giddy man, they kept reciting one of those viral videos that that went or whatever. They're cracking up, they're having the time of their lives and three years later. The 13 and 11 Denver Nuggets your ballerina to take on the 10 and 14 Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets went full Avengers assemble on Wednesday after dropping three straight for the first time this season, Nuggets decided enough was enough and came out first the Cleveland Cavaliers on a mission. They were inevitable. Wendler has it the other way. Throws it down to a cutter, Lamar Stevens. He loses the basketball loose Ball Monty in the front court seat dog with the right hand in the embassy. This leader 1 14 to 77. Thanks good. He's got a technical foul for celebration afterwards. But, hey, fellas, excited I would be to pay back Wasn't that like Gary Harris is first Duncan, the MBA when the referee goes? Hey, man, act like you've been here before. He's like. Haven't I have it? Loose ball comes down the RJ Hampton right handed to Allah for the dotted line home. My goodness. Get yourself some That was impressive. Why did you see the bench and look at this? Look at Denver? That's right. Nobody's sitting now literally like PJ Dozier. They were carrying him around. Light dunk. Oh, I just thought we're going to believe this game up. "The most impressive thing about tonight's win? Because the Nuggets just rolled this evening. You know what bird? I don't know what's impressive or what's not. But what I love the most and dance and I brought this up a couple times in the broadcast. And I'll reiterate it for you because I know you don't really listen. Is that when you get guys like Marcus Howard out there hitting threes, and Zeke Nagy and RJ Hampton and all these dudes out there that never get a chance to play and not only do they get a long run, mind you Um, you know, they play well and just think you know, Like, like I told them set them nuggets ever gonna practice again or it shoot arounds or whatever. How much more engaged are these young players? After a game like tonight, and then that just helps bit build franchises, Man. That's huge. Yeah, it is. And, you know, you know, I will say this Michael Malone has done a pretty nice job of mixing in These young players this season, you know, just getting them out there and stretches here. They're seeing what you could do. Maybe this is a reward for what you've done in practice, But we're gonna get you out there on the court and RJ Hampton really was. You know if you're really was the first guy and he's obviously taken full advantage of it, and is now literally a part of the rotation, but for sick Nagy to come out here. I mean, Zeke playing the first time he did. Yeah, he got in tonight in the first half is well and For him to play well in those minutes is it means a lot for his confidence for the coach's confidence in him on now, you know you go forward from that. Ah, here's part another thing. They play pretty well with third quarter today. Yeah, finally on, you know, not that this is the one that cures all of the ills that have happened in those quarters. So far this season, But it dog on sure looked like that. They took that seriously today from the minute that Jamal Murray raced it up on the first possession and dance. I think they got tired of hearing about think they got tired of hearing about their third quarters. And and so they took a nice step to see if they can fix him. And, well, you know, time will tell, especially gets better teams, but a nice Response to some of those their quarters here tonight. A bird? Who would you rather have Dean? Wait or Lamar Stevens on your team? Who let me let me ask you this. How much of this Just weapon was the nuggets, finding their rhythm and flow And how much of it is Cleveland? Just.

"Lead for Denver. Here comes Lamar. I'm sorry. Old coral coral has it on top three pointers on the way That one is no good Taken by Dean, Wait. Loose ball comes down the Marcus Howard. That's benches licking their chops. They're gonna take one more shot here. Might as well be Marcus Howard three pointer. No Good Rebound comes down to win. Lor swindler gets it across the time walk stutter Step into Dr They let him go. Goodness that's not gonna sit. Well, Malone. It is not like happened. We're looking at him. Yeah, you know, like who's coming out? Difference between game and shot clock is 11 seconds. Dember is gonna take Take a shot clock violation here. Seven on the shade. And RJ Hampton keeps looking like you want me to go because I'll go. Yeah, Runner by him to this up and then e think he really was one of the music. Should I take the shot clock violation nine seconds left to go three pointers on the way by Lamar Stevens that was no good dunked home. Me tip bio koro and that'll be it got a lot of hops. That guy remember doesn't even have to get it off Timeline. There's the horn, another saying Blow out fashions. Pick Cleveland out of the building. Denver wins it going away 1 33 to 95 Man. What a beat down. We haven't seen one of those in a minute. He has been a while and for the Nuggets. It wasn't needed one. I mean, they hadn't won a game in the month of February. So you know it's about time that they got back into the win column and just started toe feel good about how they're playing a little bit again. So This was an important win. You know, on a couple of Fort for those reasons as well, Looks like we're gonna get seek Nagy tonight. And we'll, uh, visit with him. He's doing a quick talk here with the coach. Uh, on seek Nagisa on.

"Altitude sports radio 9 to 5. It'll be Cleveland basketball across the way Wendler will look in 4 35 left to go in the ballgame. Now that's a blown out Cleveland in Denver, inbound goes to Lamar Stevens, hands up behind him over to old Koro Leave action. Chedi Osman. Goes back on the high left side over the old coral coral runs over Marcus Howard throws in the corner to win Lor for three and that one's good. And then we're basketball coming back the other way. Not gonna see that by 35 1 20 to 85. Howard has it at mid court Circle. Top of the key over the RJ Hansen gets a high pick from Martin Stein. Stutter Steps throws back behind him, Nagi three. That one's good again. The dude's got shots, steps he does that is three pointers from him and think of a night. That's a career high and scoring for him. Obviously Hartenstein with the block Loose ball comes down the Howard. He threw it away. Trying to thread the needle. RJ Hampton back the other way comes Stevens leans in on heartless Donna got five horrible call by built enemy That was straight up and down by, I say a heart inside. Marcus Howard. Just gonna have to put a little mustard on that pass. The idea was there. The execution on the weight of that pass has to be A little bit of seek nausea. Five of 746 from downtown. He's got 14 points in the game free throw number one for Stevens is up and in and I'll have one more night is he playing? When he stepped on the court? He stepped on so much energy. You know, And so he's created his own or luck, so to speak. He's created his his own good fortune. The third leading scorer for Denver hasn't even quite Right side his bull ball back behind him over to Marcus Howard 3.5 left to go starter. Step in a drive on the way The shot was blocked at the rib loose ball down a Jedi Osmond Osman throws out of it catching go. Lamar Stevens. Euro step blocked by Hartenstein. Loose ball. Howard Leak Hardly. I'm sorry. Hampton leaking out Howard in the three that was no good rebound comes down to Wade. Clean. Wade throws it off over the wind, Laura behind left side He drives in on our throws cross courts around the horn. They go to hospital left side now three pointers on the way and that one is up and in my teen waiting has pretty good offense, thereby Cleveland. A lot of driving kick scenario got him will be shot. Last, sir. The final three minutes or less than three minutes to go in the ball game. The ball gets tapped out of bounds by Cleveland and that will be Denver basketball on the side. Michael Malone coach Injustice heart is Right now is he was in the first quarter. And Howard looks in throws it off over the Arjun Hampton. He goes baseline jump past behind him to Nagy, top of the key to bowl back over the Hampton Hampton one on one with wind learners. Make the drive. Spin move throws out of it. I say ah Hartenstein and a dunk with the right hand Nice passed by RJ Hampton, and he'd syriza moves and when he turned Back around. He spun back around through another defender, and he dropped that right off her heart. And everybody's getting in the action tonight. Here for Denver. That's a travel runner down. The line is no good. Didn't matter by Lamar Stevens Loose Ball down the bowl bowl. Hands it out behind him over to Marcus Howard. Howard has it there. Stutter. Step in and drive on, Dean, Wait, shoots over shoppers. Good. He's got such a great jump shot. He just does. I can't wait to see him really get rolling with his confidence rises two minutes to go in the ball game. Cleveland basketball dribble handoff. It is felt away by RJ Hanson. He's got a breakaway look out. Lay up left handed off. One man, also a coral was making the business decision that he was not going to try and block that shot. Always get ready for a windmill bull ball with the steal. He's got a breakaway layup. It's good because every Duncan around here 1 31 to 89 Denver, Skip past the corner, the Osmond kick out over the weight catching, go to the baseline throws out of it on top and around the horn. They go Stevens has it down the lane and he throws at home with the right hand. I was a hell of a dunk dunk contest out here today. Well, except for the Nuggets won't dunk high right side is Howard. I guess if you do it, do it right. Howard has against Osman will take a three. That one's off the back of the rig. No good on the rebound in traffic comes down to Stevens. Stevens has enough the left sideline. Hands it off behind him over the windward right side. Now, Dean waded back on on top over toe win learn will take a three that one misses rebound down the heart style Hartenstein across the timeline. He's gonna go right to the rack Got fouled offensive found called against Hartenstein. It's just that wind Marcus Howard took the charge. He was much more stable a place than what was just occurred. Right here in this place. 40 Point.

"Okay, That's what I love about this nuggets team dance. It's like, you know, I don't want to call it garbage time. Because Ryan Bone never told me to call it that anymore. Yeah. He says. It's called Show me Time. Show me what you got to show me what you should be playing. But I love all the horses on the Denver bench that just cheer for the dudes that never get to play. You know what I mean? Yeah, for sure. And there's an intentional foul by Monte Morris to get Marcus Howard in the game was 6 12 left, and the Nuggets lead it by 38 38. Holy moly. That was I know what it's like to think that was that good now. Top of the keys. Lamar Stevens here front in mind over to Jenny Osman. Throws it over to someday named Dean Wade. He spins in the paint. Has it knocked out of his hands. Second turnover know he got a back throws back behind him down. The lane goes Lamar Stevenson. It's blocked by Hartenstein, Loose ball nausea from court. Hampton, Hampton. Was playing with a lot of confidence right now brings it back up on top to composite composite, It's a pic from Hartenstein. And Daniel Scott, the third referee says that was an even illegal picked by Isaiah Bobo into the game now, right? Composite will come out for that. Three. Biggs. I mean, look at that. Look at that front line Art, the Stein Bull Bull and Zeke nausea. Zeke is asking what position He's a man wearing my player. Yeah, Malone's.
Penn State Cinderella Story Continues, Pat Chambers discusses his team
"All right. We'd like to welcome in Penn State head coach Pat Chambers One. Eight of his last nine coach chambers. Welcome to the world's greatest podcast with Greenberg dockage. Dan Open things up because he is the big ten Guru Guru. I like it. Hey coach last night what happened. We didn't make implicity the voting go in the basket. That's a big leads with that. That's the truth the balls gotta go in the basket for you to win the game. I mean it was a rock fight. Both teams played extremely hard It gives you all know Brad credit for what they did defensively on Stevens and our shooters and then I was fantastic me. He was hurt for about four or five days there and he comes back and he looked healthy and strong and extra little kicking his step for sure he looked fresh. I think that's why he's able to make any place down the stretch for them. Forget about that that game. You won't eight in a row. You want eight zero at Penn State. You've got sixty wins in two and a half years already. Which is absolutely incredible. Most wins in the three year period. I think if I'm not mistaken in the history of Penn state and he's got a lot of season left. How did this group happened? I guess is the best question each. That's why he loved dockage right. He just wants to talk about the negative sake us right. Oh recent Yay balancing. I was conscious classic. Look I just think Lamar Stephen Staying? The course and Mike Walk and staying the course. The older yet veterans Guys that are loyal. Loyalty is is very. As you guys know loyalties everything these guys committed state committed to not only but the staff at each other the players in that locker room and the program so at Penn State. You GotTa get older and you gotta stay old now. We gotta stay old and Dan you were you. Were there at the pleasure when these guys were freshmen. We've played each state. You knew we building something special. We just have to stay the course. We have to be patient and fortunately city Barbara was patient And that's why you're able to to go through some growing pains and learn and get some shared experiences. And that's why you're able to you know as SEF just said sixteen sixty wins in the last three years. It's a great accomplishment for these kids. Twenty and six Penn State two games out of first place with Maryland. I think I don't think Maryland has an easy schedule. I think this could still get very sexy coach. Talk about Lamar Stevens. His his sidekicks other than Watkins are gone from that game but man is he been good. We'll real steady Really Mature Really grown up In his approach and everything he's doing from from cold cubs yoga to getting it. Sure shot's taking care of his body take and then his leadership ability and autos and in the locker room that practice is a kid. Who's you know? We only got a few weeks left of the season regular season and he still bought into the culture of doing all the little things that we need. Do to keep getting better. And that's been his message. You know he guys what we can get a lot better. We gotTA clean this. We gotTA CLEAN THIS UP CLEVELAND. So if we can do that now you really. GonNa put put ourselves better position. I mean we're a great position now but he wants more. He's hungry for more. I mean he's gotta be up there for for player of the year in this league. I mean there's I know guards it and I know thirty. Counting cash is another straight players. But Lamar Steve has got to be in the conversation. Now you played last night. You've played it for a while now without your second leading scorer Myron Jones. What what does he bring? What's the timetable to bring them back? See Dan I'm learning this thing here. I'm trying to create some news out of this question and that was the kind of newsy question. Dan's radio show now. This is something different dad. We J. for sure. Obviously we're evaluating. We want him to be as healthy as possible before we bring them back on the floor. I think we would be doing him a disservice if we brought him back any earlier. So let's make sure he's as healthy as possible so we can really contribute any safe. You know that's important kids. Safety Ethic is what Penn State's all about But to lose your second leading score and go three and one is about the depth and you guys know this you know. We've never had that type of depth in my tenure. We're talking about Mike Tenure I was never able to go seven eight nine deep and this year. We were able to do that for the most part now. Mj's down guys have been stepped. Brockton has been stepping up tomorrow. Wheelers stepping up Curtis Jones has been stepping up as long as we get contributions from everybody we. We can continue to compete. Continue to get better. Hey you mentioned your Athletic Director Sandy. The importance of for one somebody sticking with someone Santa. Barbara's been amazing Look I Texas Texas Tech. Today we need to do a case study other directors need to watch not jump the gun and go find out what might win the press conference or make the public happy I think it's she's been inside the walls here. She's been inside the program she sees what we're doing a culture wise inside a lock room. She comes to practices. She sees developing our players. And how we're getting better and You know I think it's all pay off both of us. How about the environment? I you know you go to Penn State. It's got this great name obvious identity but I was so. They had some issues with the football situation but the environment. What makes Penn state like when you when you take that job? It's a big job and all those other things it's more money and and that's great now that you're there now that you're having success. What makes it the right place for you? Because let's face it as coaches? You're only as good as last season you can you? Can you know people have short term memories I? It's not an easy job. So what makes it where you say you know what not only can I win but I can sustain it? I mean what's the key to sustaining? Besides just getting players. Yeah. I think it's buying. I think you both would agree with that right. Top top down by into what we're trying to do complete and total investment into making. Sure that look we.
