"In Las Vegas. Now, a game that I don't see getting to the total, it will be in Los Angeles between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles Rams Jaguars 12 and a half point dogs, total 48 for the game and of course last week the Jaguars losing to the Atlanta Falcons, which is certainly not a good loss and the rams losing to the Green Bay Packers a little bit more understandable Aaron Rodgers looked really good in that game. I think that the packers kind of starting around into form offensively. And it's a game where I think we're going to see the rams offense continue to struggle. Odell Beckham is on the injury report as questionable. He was supposed to be kind of the missing piece to save them, especially with Robert Woods out for the season now with an injury. And, you know, Odell hurt now. They're going to have to rely even heavier on Cooper Cup and you're relying on a quarterback in mat Stanford who you don't know if you can trust at this point. He's banged up and he's kind of regressing back to that Matt Stafford that we saw in Detroit for so many years where he just does not give you a full season of consistent football. And I think that that could be a real problem this week. Again, I think that the real lack of scoring here is going to come from the Jacksonville Jaguars who are gaining a full yard per play less than the LA rams this season. You know, it's interesting with the Jaguars who I better be careful about or Eric is going to leave me another one star podcast review. I'm not saying they should go to London. That was a joke. But, you know, Trevor Lawrence has been doing a better job of not turning the ball over, right? He's had just three interceptions in the last 8 games after starting the season with 7 in his first three games. So he's getting better at not giving the ball away. The problem is they just haven't been able to consistently move the ball in Jacksonville and I think that's going to continue here, especially as the rams defense knows like, look, this is a game that we really need to perform well and we can not give this one away, dropping to 7 and 5 before we face the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. I mean, that could end their season in two weeks if they're not careful. I think the defense shows up, but I think that there's some real flaws with that rams offense that will still keep this game under the total. Somewhere around the 24 to 14 type of game here, I think would be pretty much what I would expect from this contest. Moving on, we'll go back to the AFC north. And we will focus on Raven steelers. This, by the way, the second straight week where the ravens are playing a division opponent, they will play a third straight game against the division opponent next week when they take on the Cleveland Browns for the second time in three weeks. And Cleveland, by the way, on the buy right now, they will play two straight games against the Baltimore Ravens. And I believe it was Westwood won the radio broadcast for the Sunday Night football game between the ravens and the browns who said that it's like the second time in somewhere around 30 years that a team is going to play consecutive games against one opponent. So that's a pretty crazy scheduling quirk for the Cleveland Browns. And for the ravens, I mean, three straight division games is no cakewalk either. And they come into this one four point favorites against the Steelers total of 44, and it's a game where, you know, I really don't have a strong lean one way or the other. I mean, the ravens, yes, they've been winning ball games. You know, they beat the beat the bears with Tyler Huntley. And they beat the browns last week, but that was an ugly performance by the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson just whipping interceptions left and right. And I don't know that I have a lot of faith in them on the road here, second straight division opponent, but I also, again, the Steelers just absolutely have gone off the cliff offensively. I do not have a lot of trust, and then both teams, by the way, both in the bottom half of the league in yards per play gain. Bottom ten in yards per play allowed these teams not as good as their as their records might indicate. And as their reputations might indicate, I think that's reflected in the total here of 44. You know, kind of saying, look, both of these offenses just not that good at this point in the year. Both these teams below 500 against the spread and maybe you think the theory could be that Pittsburgh comes out firing at home here after an embarrassing loss against the division opponent in Cincinnati, but I don't trust this Pittsburgh team to deliver in that spot whatsoever. You know, more competent team, I think I would trust after the embarrassing division defeat, but I am not with that with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is a complete no play. As far as I'm concerned, I don't like what I've seen from either of these squads to be completely honest with you. I mean they have Baltimore and botching goal to go opportunities, having to settle for field goals, turning the ball over, just disastrous stuff from the ravens, but the Steelers not much better in any regard, really. Now let's go to the final Sunday afternoon game here on the program. We will talk niners Seahawks niners three and a half point favorites over Seattle on the road, total 46 and a half. And it's a game listen. I lean toward the niners in this contest, Seattle has completely fallen apart. Their offense has been, I just disastrous over the last few weeks. I mean, you have the shutout and Green Bay and Russell Wilson's return. Then you put up 15 points against the Washington football team that is near the bottom of the league in yards per play allowed, and near the bottom of the league in terms of there against the spread record on the season. You lose outright to them. I just I don't know what's going on there. Thrusts Wilson. He's not getting DK Metcalf the ball. What a Metcalf have one catch in that Monday night game against the Washington football team at is certainly not going to get the job done. Just this is a complete fade on the Seahawks. I think that reputation, the 12th man, it's going to keep the numbers when they are at home a little lower than I think they should be based off of how they're playing right now. And you look at the niners on the other hand, they're playing some really good football right now. They are a team that really could be poised to make a run through the NFC with the way that they have been playing Jimmy Garoppolo, helping that offense to put up points. I will say debo Samuel questionable for this game dealing with a groin injury. That is a legitimate concern for the niners. The way that they use Samuel the way they can use them in the running game, the way they can get him the ball in the passing game and the way that he can create in open space without him, I think that this game would be one that I would back off of completely. But I just think that the niners are a team that are heading in the right direction and I think the Seahawks are a team that are heading in the complete wrong direction with the way that they've been playing offensively. So I would lean toward the niners here. Niners, by the way, a marquee matchup next week. They get a late afternoon game in week 14 in Cincinnati, which is pretty nuts..

"I'm Doug Kazarian joined like I always say I'm on Fridays by Joe forton ball. How are you, sir? Can't be worse than Taysom Hill in those four interceptions last night. I'll tell you that much. Now, we ended up getting home with our unders, which was very nice. I saw you at one point in the third quarter talking about how that game was doing everything it could to go over. I was thinking to myself, Doug shut the hell up, but I also realized what you were saying was true because they were trying to stumble into that, but we got home. We got home with that play. It's crazy. Just when you think the live line, I mean, think about as low as 39, and then it's like, oh, the long touchdown run. It's like back to 47. It's like, come on. So the live line, I actually admitted some of it. I played back 42 and a half, 43 and a half so I got there at 44, but it was one of those games that should have been a stone under and then every just when you're ready to relax, there was a big play to make it, you know, flirt with the over. Dallas was so dumb at the end of that game off those picks, how they were still throwing the ball. Just run up the clock and do it with Tony Pollard. Why are you still running Ezekiel Elliott? Like this is why this team is going to find a way to not meet its expectation to not meet its destiny because they're going to make mistakes like this in big spots and they'll eventually get eliminated because of it. Well, they were missing their wizard. Mike McCarthy wasn't there. Yeah. We got there the spurs plus 5 and the money line got their nice convincing win. Very Portland in trouble without Damian Lillard for sure. So let's turn the page. We got obviously college football conference championships this weekend. I'm up and triple option. A lot of pressure. A lot of pressure leaner card to go from, I'll let you start off, but actually you know what I lied. I'm gonna go first. I'm gonna start with the Houston plus ten and a half. Look, I think the Cincinnati team is gonna get smoked, but that doesn't mean they don't go because we've seen other teams from the power 5 get smoked in the playoffs. So I just think there's all the pressure in the world on the bear cats. I think Houston's pretty good. And I think ten and a half too many points. So I think they keep it inside the number I like Houston's team total over as well. So you're looking at 21 ish, so 22 or so. So I would take that over for sure. I am in agreement with you on Houston. I think the big storyline coming into the game is Cincinnati and the playoff birth. So a lot of people aren't looking at the cougars. If you look at them, you'll see that they lost their first game of the season of Texas tech. And then they rattled off 11 straight victories by an average of 22 points per game. They're a top ten scoring offense and a top 20 scoring defense. They can play. So I'll take the ten and a half. I agree with you on that. I'll actually give you something for tonight as well on Friday. It's gotta be a three. Don't play the two and a half, but I take the three with Oregon and the pack 12 championship game. These two met just two weeks ago in Utah Utah was like three and a half in that game. They smoked Oregon. Now we change venues two weeks later and the lines sit in three. I was surprised it's not a little bit lower. I think by kick off, it's gonna be two and a half or lower everywhere else. I don't like these rematch games or I should say I don't like backing the winner of the first encounter when you have a rematch game on such a short turnaround with a change of venue in there as well. We see this in the NFL, the example I use a few years ago, the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson went to I think it was LA at the time against the Chargers beat them and then like three weeks later in the playoffs, the Chargers and Anthony Lynn went to Baltimore and completely shut down Lamar Jackson. The losing team knows the adjustments it needs to make. The winning team comes out and probably just tries to implement the exact same game plan because it already worked. And I think that's an advantage for Oregon. So I would play Oregon plus three tonight in the packed world championship. I agree with you on Houston. I got plenty of others, but I'm just gonna throw the hot potato back to you to unload a few more and then I'll jump back in. Yeah, I mean, my favorite play for the weekend is Kent State, and I hate that it's gone to three and a half. I got some three earlier in the week. But I still think they went and covered northern Illinois, incredible season worse to first in their division. They have 7 7 one score wins, including three by a single point. Lombardi's the quarterback expected to come back, so obviously he's a little bit better. These two teams combined for 99 points in the regular season meeting Kent State one, and IU will score a little bit, but their defense is awful. I think Kent State team total over I think can state covers the three and a half. They're the better team, a little regression for NI U, nice season could still win, obviously. This is but I think Ken state wins by about 7 or ten. All right, I'll fire a couple more here. SEC championship under 49 and a half Georgia and Bama. As you know, Georgia the number one scoring defense in the country at about 7 points per game. They have a top 20 scoring defense as well at 19 points per game. I think band is going to struggle to move the ball in this game. I really do. I leaned to Georgia -6 and a half as well, but the unders my favorite play. A lot of people will point to that pick and they'll say, well, you know, recency bias on the auburn game. It's not just the auburn game. All right, when Bama has left Bryant Benny stadium, they've had issues. They barely beat Florida and that turned out to be a terrible Gators team that fired Dan Mullen. They lost that Texas a and M a and M didn't come anywhere close to meeting the expectations we put on them pre season and they should have lost the game at all but when they went against a good defensive line at home against LSU they got pushed around in that game as well. I think they're going to get pushed around in this game. I think Saban's done an excellent job, but he lost a ton of talent and he's exceeding expectations, but we hold him to such ridiculous expectations because of how good he is. I think George is just going to put it on him here. So I like the under 49 and a half for sure. I lean and I will probably play Georgia at anything less than 7. I also throw the mountain west championship at you. I would play both San Diego state -6 over Utah state and I play the under 50 points in that game. We just saw this game for youth tall state a few weeks ago. They were at home hosting Wyoming. And Wyoming is not anywhere near as good as San Diego state. Wyoming does one thing very well. And that's defend the past. They're a top ten team in opponent yards for passing attempt. They don't give up big plays in the passing game. That's what Utah state wants to do. They're 15th in the country in passing. Well, guess what? San Diego state is 9 in the country in a pony yards per passing attempt. And there, a much better defense in Wyoming. Their top ten scoring D, Wyoming went to Utah state and hammered them in that game, completely shut him down. San Diego state is hosting this game in Carson, California at their temporary stadium. I like him to cover the spread. I like it to stay under San Diego state likes to grind the clock. They don't play at a fast tempo. So mountain west championship Aztecs -6 over Utah state, under 50 points in that game as well. Yeah, I think you're on to something with that under there in the San Diego state game. That's just too big of a number, especially with the potential quarterback injury for the aggies..

"lamar jackson" Discussed on The Lead

"The ravens plan to do before the season even began? Yeah, that's a great question. And I do think it's a combination of things. This is a team that's lost in the divisional round two years in a row. And they have not been able to make enough plays downfield to win in the playoffs. Things get tighter and teams honing on your weaknesses and take away a little of the run. They've not been able to get it done. They worked all off season on trying to become a more dangerous offense downfield that was not just the coaches. It was Lamar and the receivers and all that. And they knew they were going to have to be that offense. And that's what they've been working on. So we're seeing some of the results. But yeah, like you said, a lot of it's been necessity. I mean, they just haven't been able to control games with the running games like they have in the past. So I think in a sense, what we've seen now is a good sign that they've been able to win when people have taken away what they've done in the best. So, you know, if you're looking for a silver lining for them, not running the ball that well. They've been able to put this new passing game to the test. And as of now, it's past all the tests. While a passing game that really stood out and the next game that we want to talk about was Jackson's epic comeback performance against the colts and week 5, one of the criticisms that come up the most with Lamar Jackson is that he can't bring his team back from behind, and he obviously did that in the colts game. What do you think has been the difference for him in situations where he has to dig his team out of a hole like that? Yeah, and he has three comebacks in the fourth quarter of this year and that's something everyone said he couldn't do. You know, I think the improved personnel around him, their improvements that they're receiving core has really been a significant reason for that. Jackson for duvernay to catch in the first down gain of 15. This is a formation they love to get in three by one and you're gonna see the number three receiver just runs a crossing route and this is something you'll see. Marquise Brown run these routes, you'll see duvernay run it and duvernay has started to pick up his face. Nice throwing catch. You know, they went three receivers throughout that game down the stretch against the colts because they need to score quickly and that never was kind of a formation that they used to use because they were running team and they didn't really have the strength with the receivers to do that. Their ability to do that and put more talented receivers on the field has made them a more dangerous team down the stretch of games. Lamar loads up for Marquise Brown. Makes it look easy for 43 Greece. They go right over bothe keys for the touchdown. First, but you know, the biggest part is he's just in control of this entire offense. He's much more comfortable in those situations. He's confident in himself. And he is mechanics are better. It allows them to put the ball more places that could result in the ravens making big plays downfield. Lamar steps and throws finds Brown in a seam and he's down at the 12th game of 20. I think it's just natural and athletics until you start doing it on the consistent basis and bring the team back and you have proof of that. I think that's when people really start believing and you kind of take it a step further with the respect people have for you.

"He can win by throwing. Yeah but like. I feel like i said i feel like he. He puts his team in that scenario where they have to be like that because he runs when he shouldn't run. I remember explicitly. It was a third down in that game in. He ran for for three yards. He had nowhere to go running the ball. He had way better chance throwing the ball but he was really opened. There was people wide open. Mark injures was just on a coral route right there. And you just disregarded and try to run and i'm like yeah i mean well the decision making argument it makes a little sense. I'm not. he's no aaron rodgers thrown the ball. That goes without saying. But i'm not arguing that he's the best in the league but i definitely think he's in the elite here and other than a couple of guys i think you can. He has a good case for being better than any of them in like with their argument with like the braun. And the cavs. i think. That's more russell wilson. I think russell wilson absolutely carrying his team. I don't know i think. If you put other quarterbacks in In the ravens i feel like they would be d says well i mean i feel like lamar. I dunno offenses so tailored for his. Yeah i mean yeah. That's the thing is like they're they're decent with joe flacco but when they have lamar and it was kind of a different thing But i i. Don't i don't know i like i think he's not a russell wilson. I think i definitely lifestyle or values team value to his team. I don't know i. I think he's not a russell wilson. I think that he kind of hurts them in also helps them if he gets. I just think it comes down to his decision. Making with which mainly primarily is like with the running his when he decides sarojini decides to throw. But yeah. I think that because normally with quarterbacks elite quarterbacks they always looked throw it they don't look to run first the and that's what separates them and i i don't know i just feel like if he has his better decision-making than he'll be an quarterback but for now i don't know i don't. I haven't heard time without owner's time to. He's still only twenty four years old so that decision-making could could come. I mean that's a fair knock i. I don't think it takes him out of the elite here but if you're arguing against him that's probably the right thing to point to and i just wanna quickly. We'll probably go into next week but My front runner for mvp right now just in herbert. His carter's is lamar jackson. So there's that. I just want to throw that out there And yeah just you know this hit us up and think think of your opinions on our argument and who had fair argument and i feel like we both had a decent argument. I feel like it could go either. Certainly arguable subject. That's what we gotta keep finding everywhere exactly. I think the next one is justin. Herbert versus patrick mahomes. Which is i'm coming off my stansell juicy though that's the thing coming off my stance a little bit so that chiefs game. I don't think it would have been better. But now it's it has less to do with the chiefs game and more to do with what herbert's doing. It's hard to take anybody over him for the future right now..

Panthers' Matt Rhule Is Making a Bid for Best NFL Coach This Season

"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. That outside of right tackle graded poorly left. Tackle all the way to right guard. What matt rule is doing with this sub optimal often. It's of line. The scarce number of three out the revamping rebooting of sam darnold is really mind-blowing

"Have won the game on the road and baltimore hideous to turn over the medium. Talk about mahomes. Just pick with love the guy. That is the dumbest interception i've ever seen. I mean that was the jason that was at saint throw that pick their so. He throws an awful pick. You you have a drive early in the game. they're backed up fox turn thirty eight because he had a bad snap and you have a penalty on top of it. They had opportunities to really put the ravens down and out. It couldn't do it. The biggest one ended with mahomes. Pick dan opportunity to win the game. All likelihood bucker is nails on every field goal. I every february attempts words lara's carrying the ball gets a loaf of bread. He fumbles then and i get. It's hard they shot if they stop them both more going for it. Yes i agree with you pass tuba. And if they don't get that the ten yards to go and kick a field goal. The cheese had chance after chance after chance after chance after chance they blew it and now to me we. We'll tell me point. What do they do coming out of this game. Do they go play the chargers and give a five hundred yards or they go kick los angeles his ass and walk out of their winning thirty eight twenty and you go all right a bad game baltimore you move on to and one who cares. Don't worry about it. And we're off or does herbert throw for four hundred yards and the cheese after score. Forty five point these game. Yeah we got another question this one from from michael brown and maybe this goes to use darling because you already mentioned it. Is it time to end the chris. Jones defensive end experiment now second game. This is first time. Basically in the nfl. Playing against lamar jackson in matt. Remorse said maybe the most complex running offense. He wasn't prepared. It looked like he wasn't ready. It's it's it's too early to make a judgment. I'm not gonna say yet. Cut it. Scrap it moving back to demons of just inside. It's too early first game. He was phenomenal. he took over. He dominated the fourth quarter against the browns was to call to go back inside after back. He's gonna Growing process is going to take time figuring out. He's too talented to athletic. I personally prefer him on the interior but with the lack of talent lack of pressure on a d. end young was needed to put him there. I don't have any problems being the guy. i mean. look to saxons cleveland. I don't like what chris johns like. Every bit of defense night was atrocious. I mean i. I'm not sitting there watching the film you. May you go back and look better or worse happened. As as a unit they get an f minus and they were they were about as bad as you can be and especially when you look the raiders. Defense up front baby up. The ravens did beat him up like kansas city. Could do anything of fry. I'll say the thousand. I don't even care that. They've lost his game in the grand scheme. I really don't i really. I know probably infuriates and people guys get their schedule even with the injuries. that's probably the hardest rogaine. They're gonna play all year. Probably i mean. Maybe the chargers on thursday night later. And you're maybe. I didn't baltimore's tougher. Okay there are other road games. This year aren't anywhere near as hard as this game. You said you're talking washington philly. The raiders the broncos. The bengals cares. Titans maybe it's tough game. I could win their thirteen fourteen games. I really do..

2021 QB Consensus Rankings: Who Takes the No 1 Spot?

"Jump into our consensus rank. So is what we did here for. Anybody that doesn't understand. Consensus ranking each of awesome rank our quarterbacks from one to thirty two and then we come up with the kind of the average comes up with the consensus. I did thirty three. i'd include sam darnold. Oh okay wow. I'd so our number one quarterback. God mahomes a sexy. Is patrick mahomes. Hattie mahomes no surprises. Mahomes being number one. I think he's pretty much. Everyone's consensus one going into the quarterback position this year except for you. Thanks trial a segue. I have lamar. Jackson has my number one no surprise. Probably based off the trivia. Very lamar related both because of his his rushing upside by yes. Mahomes is not a far distant to put it that way over his last year's starter he finished as qb one in two thousand eighteen. He was cube seven and two thousand nineteen and he missed two and a half games that season and then he was q. Before last year missing a game if mahomes plays all seventeen games. He's a guaranteed top five quarterback with potential. Qb one overall like we've seen in the past and unlike the next four or five guys. He doesn't offer a huge amount of rushing upside. he does offer two to three hundred dollars. but much difference than you know. You're rushing upside type quarterback yeah. He has the highest ceiling of any quarterback. And as safe of a floor is any quarterback. And i think that's a really really important combination to have. It's crazy how consistent. He's been with the fact that he isn't a huge rushing quarterback. He certainly runs more than a lot of other quarterbacks in the league but he does it through the air. He's averaged over twenty four fantasy points per game since entering the league. Which is absolutely incredible. He's got the best weapons in the. Nfl andy. reid is a phenomenal head coach. He is so safe as long as he is healthy. Yeah i agree with that. I just disagree on the part where you said. He has the highest upside. Because i don't think he does. I think lavar does just his rushing and you can project the marta have more passing yards. You can't really project. Mahomes rushmore the only argument against that. I don't think he has the highest potential. Now that we've seen what lamar can

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Back at Practice After Recovering From Second COVID Bout

"Is back with the Ravens after testing positive for Covid in late July. That was his second bout with Covid after testing positive and missing game last season, according to reports. He is not among the Ravens players who were fully vaccinated when they reported the camp. Listen, I know Lamar Jackson is not the only player who is not getting vaccinated. I understand. It's a complex situation for some people for a variety of reasons, so it's not just about him. But I would ask the question for all the guys who are not getting vaccinated. What are you gaining by holding out and avoiding the vaccine? Then

"That was down in tampa bay that that j. maxx right. So you guys like j mac just raining on james wednesday. This wasted run on himself has brought it on himself right. Okay if you're calling plays where you're challenging jameis winston to try to sit those balls into those those pockets and it gets picked off. That's why you had those percentages you either. Choose to take to take the chance or you. Don't take the chats okay. They did not take the chaz lamar jackson. It's not worth risking it with lamar jackson. Now you add these receivers would that tight end and you're able to open this up. Here's some more game for you. You know we're quarterbacks. Love throwing the ball in the scenes in the center of the defenses crossing across those defenses. You want to know the worst place that most quarterbacks throwing deep outs. i don't want to throw the ball deep out. It's a very nerve wracking. Throw to make most guys. Do not wanna make those passes in the mid range too deep areas because it has a very high potential of getting intercepted. Go figure so when you think about what they're doing with lamar jackson. They're keeping within that ten your fifteen max yard radi radius ratio race. Whatever it is. You know what i'm talking about. You want to go too far down to fill get outside of fifteen twenty yard area where he has the vision and he can automatically either deliver the ball or pull it down and run. Those are the things that lamar jackson will be able to do more. Because they're going to open the filled up. There's gonna be more there's windows you break the field into three zones you had this zone over here. Say to the right. The right of use one's own the center zone and the third zone is to the opposite side. Now you break that down and you see how many defenders are in each one of these zones you have windows of opportunity at different levels and each one of those three zones. So when lamar jackson comes into this season he has a guy that can run routes. That's in that that third zone in that first zone and that second zone then now it becomes easier passing opportunity for lamar jackson and it becomes easier forties offense coordinators to put together plays that are gonna work to his advantage into his favor and then he looks like a good passer problem. Lavar is that in the playoffs. Everybody knows what's coming and that's why for three straight years. Lamar jackson has struggled. The offense has been bottled up in the postseason. The cornerbacks come up. And say i dare you. Lamar jackson severi predictable. Hunter is predictable. Runs coming and the defense is bottled up then. The narrative builds well lamar jackson the playoffs. Because they've become so predictable but under the new bateman bateman a lot get far but they do one other note they do really miss hayden hearst. If you remember two years ago they had the two tight end sets was andrews and hearst and they just were dominant then it came to the playoffs and they bottled them up. I i'm optimistic for this year. I have two questions about the offensive line but go ahead. Well lavar hollywood brownwood beg to differ with you. He he complained he tweeted out and then deleted it. He thinks that they should throw more to him. He thinks he's capable of making those catches are. I don't know if he is or not. We have a really saying it but my point is i'm outlook i wanna see. We haven't seen the mar- make those throws so i. I don't know how you can sit here. And say he definitely can make learning because of the improvements that he's made in his passing game just these few years we've seen i mean that's the big question not consistently you heard j. Mac just give the numbers and then when it gets to the playoffs they really go run heavy and become predictable if you can make the throws that time to make them support offs and so we trust and the confidence make the calls are in those moments so you got to keep in mind kenny make the throws consistently or can they get open consistently those are the things when you become predictable. What it is that you're gonna do because you have the weapons you know. Marquees brown can complain all he wants. But if you're the only one out there that can really get open outside of your tight end. There's really nothing to complain about. Because defense is going shale their defenses to be over to stay over top defense him or keep him in front of the defense. It makes it a much easier proposition. That defense team. That's trying to run. Bottling them up and taking away that one real real receiving threat versus having to more threats to that one marquee should have a better year this year. Now he wants to complain this year. Having sammy watkins in bateman out there. Then that's a different story if you wanna say. He can't throw the ball after this season the now. That's a different conversation but until that happens. I've seen lamar make enough throws listen. You never mess up lamar or lebron. You know why. Because i know i'm lavar and most people don't do it the same way they say. Look more in lavar. Lebron whatever it may be. I always get it right and i got this right as well. We'll have a good year all the amount of good he has. He has a good amount of throw it outside if he can do that. Then watch out because obviously that would open up. Even i am optimistic but avar errington note. The ravens had a top ten offense. According to football outsiders all season seventh trailing by a touchdown or more that offense fell down to twenty second now that from behind. He's not good at playing from behind the football. It's not he's not they are not see this. Is you gotta be careful again. Who's the entire the entire lavar yet. But you have to live within the parameters of what your offense is going to provide you if you get behind. You're your year to be able to play fast paced from behind. That's not all on your quarterback. That's all schematics. That's all play call. And that's on personnel. If you don't have the personnel to do that then you're not going to just saying when we talk basketball. If you have a personnel grouping that can shoot threes then then you know what you're going to have to play them differently than if your team that catch shoot. Three's if i gotta play you style that says to me. I got a bottle. You guys up because we got to score two pointers to be able to win this. You're gonna play vastly different. That's your comparison with brooklyn versus the lakers. It's the same thing here you have guys on historically on this ravens team and you can look outside of west out a win flacco. Was there with the titans receivers that he had to throw the ball. When have you ever had a quarterback had success playing in baltimore in the passing game. This is not a quarterback situation. This is an offensive scheme and offense. Identity. this is a team that has has been favorable to the run. They run heavy and they play defense. They're not going to play well.

"Where eagles are struggling. They throw some hurts. Plays in their and success. Have some misfires there. But eventually hurts comes in again he obviously. They're not as good as the ravens word in twenty to twenty nine hundred. We didn't leave them to playoffs but they were kind of in the mixed in by week. Fifteen sixty yeah so The friction was a wooden say like it was nearly to the level that the eagles are experience with whence hurts and and the that saga However word yes As as for. Joe flacco you know. He said he was confident. And i think He he earned a bit of that respective like. I'm still the starter. Like i'm here for a reason and i plan on you know not giving up my position you know. I think it was more of a competitive Vibe than it was Friction but i think there definitely was some like anytime. You are the starting quarterback and your team spends their first round pick or a first round pick on a possible replacement. You're gonna be concerned in a little bit Agitated i think output it Joe flacco in Harsh or didn't like show. Chris criticism publicly Outside of just saying like i. This is my position. I plan on competing for it and it was You know in week one. I believe he threw three touchdowns against the buffalo bills that year and performed a great in a forty seven three blowout to begin the season. So you know. Joe looks very much. Ready to continue competing. Meanwhile lamar jackson needed to get up to nfl speed And that's not due to Is literal running speed. It's studio the mental game in the mechanics game because amar's speed is is among the elite in the nfl. He just had to get in the playbook and and operators mechanics and get him up to nfl readiness. I look at the mar in a tearoom soft when it comes to speed and that dynamics schism at quarterback position. Let me look at tier two. I think jalen hurts is right there similar to a guy who also played in oklahoma. Kyle mary not as murray better quarterback prospect better passer clearly at this stage of their careers. I think they have similar styles and heard a nice blend speed in size played. The cardinals last year had a very memorable run. Where he knows truck stick a bigger goes in for a touchdown and that was one of those moments where he got this guy something. Can he be doug. I can be a franchise. Guys flash pam. How did the ravens are balls. Thereby greg reminiscent Offensive coordinator seen so integral to the success. That lamar had kind of making a unique offense. That's not really seen as much in the pro game college down. i don't mean that an a negative connotation because mara obviously add tremendous trim one of the most accessible college quarterbacks of all time and sometimes you see pro pro coaches little reticent to bring those odds those intricacies to the pro game. It seems that roman did that so well for the mar what do you think how do you think they put him in a position to succeed because he essentially immediately in two thousand eighteen and then runs away with the mvp award the followings. Yeah absolutely once. He joined it on the team. He went to six in one as a starter in the only loss being in overtime loss to the kansas city chiefs the bane of the ravens existence. Right now but more importantly your answering your question. Be significant aspect was the the ability in the unwavering confidence to just switch Schemes they knew. What lamar's Strengths were everybody knows. What lamar art speed agility and acceleration among the best in the world and he does so under center in the gun and the pistol. Whatever what have you. And they also had a pretty staunch offensive line that they could run behind lamar Assuming marshall yondo is still a part of that squad. Far too frequently we've seen plays and All throughout his career of let's run behind number seventy three onto onto hot like that was. That was the running game Help that gus. Edwards was part of that team a perfect complement to lamar speed. And agility is an absolute hammer of a of a heavy running back. That's capable of gaining yards on just about every single kerry. I think just the confidence to do. So and and i like that. You put that switched to a little bit more of a college system in which they're allowing the quarterback to the more mobile they're allowing easier throws in. They're trying to scheme up an easier system for him. As compared to win. joe flacco was under center. I think not having any shame in in doing so is a is a key component there because some people like you mentioned it's not necessarily a negative but you're looked at differently when you include a a lesser system quote unquote and the ravens said. You know what this is going to help us succeed john. Harbaugh was was getting mutterings of being. Let go at season's end with crazy in rodgers absolutely free but they make this switch. They know lamar strengths and they said you know what this is going to make us successful. We have a tough offensive line or a tough ravens team. We are known for playing defense in running the football now. We have an extra mobile player in lamar jackson. Let's utilize these drinks. And they came out. They did so In that is what was so in a rural in getting him going in the. Nfl was they knew his talents. They knew how to execute it. They had the players to do such a scheme and they were already there on the roster and that allowed for such a tr- smooth transition more than anything support for this episode comes from forward..

Sam Darnold's Time Is Coming

"I'm gonna start with arguably my most controversial take of the day sam darnold. What's the heartache. And if he is he gonna go sir. Not darnold in slinging. Sam darnold three year career. He's never finished inside of the top. Twenty five at the quarterback position. He's also never thrown for over thirty one hundred yards or twenty touchdowns in a year his career completion percentage sits at fifty nine percent in addition if we look at last year specifically. It's his worst year of his career. Twenty two hundred yards through the air nine touchdowns and eleven interceptions in twelve games. If your take is that sam darnold is bad like you. Just prove that. He's bad like. I don't know where you're going with this but darnold is bad. You're trying to say is gonna finish outside of qb. Thirty two sam darnold careers. Been absolutely terrible. Nobody is going to argue that including myself. It would be pretty easy for somebody to up his career as of bust in move on and in fact. Almost everybody is already done that rightfully so sam. I am one of the few people that still truly believes in you. I'm here to tell you why showtime darnold is going to finish the season as a top twelve quarterback showtime where nicknames coming from you top twelve top twelve quarterback darnold the prospect in darnold product have been polar opposite so far. But let's remember that he was a number three overall pick in the two thousand eighteen draft. He went ahead of josh allen and lamar jackson. The reason he was drafted ahead of them is because scouts were drooling over his size his arm strength and his playmaking ability on the day of the two thousand eighteen draft dane brugge a well-known senior analyst for nfl draft scout listed darnold as the clear number one quarterback in the draft. Obviously that hasn't been the case but the point that i'm trying to make is a talent was there and i know space jam to just came out and unless the monster stolas talents. I'm confident in saying that. Those talents are still in that

His points per game actually went up into finals. But now we go slide him his assist or to say but now we go slide him and his three point percentage is even better in the finals and has been arrested away measuring man against themselves. That sounds like greatness to me. It sounds like top five. All time covered up video asphalt. We'll tell you if we like his response. We certainly don't like asphalt best next and we'll see for yourself. I like your saturday man socks battle the yankees plus the giants based apart and astros take on the white sox. Saturday six thirty eastern box box for chip level. Loosens game your show up. Forty water and lamar. Jackson took some heat earlier this week for video. That went viral him. Just for kicks responded wednesday tweet. It's better to have the kids out there having fun. Playing with guns and bleep next year running it back even more fun. So you like lamar jackson defensive by ask video due and don't okay. I like it. Because i liked lamar jackson as a human being. Do to stay true to himself since day. One like the didn't come in and try to make himself a company man. He didn't shave off the twist at dreads. He didn't come in there and try to go with fresh fade. I know so many. Nfl players have actually done to make yourself more marketable. I've talked several agents about fat several clients. He ain't do that. He didn't come in there and try to change the way he talked to speak to different people differently. No do he came into the league just like he left college same cat. He answers random kids face times audience classroom hops on. I live with kids. Lamar jackson is as real and authentic as they come. Lamar jackson train of thought. Sellers like look is gangs violence when i was growing up sports drugs. Violence and those are the options. I'm trying to make sure they choose. The right option. Like i chose however don't drown yourself trying to save somebody else. Oh i the on car little bit the aspect that i don't like is don't drown yourself trying to save someone else and that's the only potential allama here. Okay because lamar jackson the reason they care to play the game of football with you on the court is because you play the game of football professionally. Because you're lamar jackson unanimous mvp. I could go onto a concrete asphalt court right now and nobody's trying to play which boy wouldn't wasn't all that special lamar jackson. If you cease to be lamar. Jackson a great. Those games are not going to exist as they continue to lamar jackson. Great by getting hurt. It all comes back down to getting kurt. So hopefully we are on the back. End of the cove nineteen pandemic but assuming we are not. We all had to learn that when a loved one contracts the virus do what you can to support him ubereats. Leave him some water outside the door. Leave some food if you need to some flowers a car but you might not want to get into the rule. Massless up close and personal. Because you don't wanna drown yourself you don't want to infect yourself while trying to tend to the needs of somebody else. I love the intention of lamar jackson. Kudos to him for that but in the same breath don't get hurt while trying to do a good deed. i love that take. I love that. Take him a push back after. Get mine out there. You can see where they land homeboy. I love what lamar jackson said. Now wholeheartedly like you said put. Most of me loves what he said. Because i love double down statements. Double down says oh you. You'd hear me the first time we'll let me say again but louder and that's what he did. My floreal take debt. Take that take. And i like that. I don't like clarification statements because we are too damn smart too damn intelligent too damn sophisticated been on this planet to law. Patrick mahomes to be acting like oh you oughta hear me correctly. What i really meant is now. You've meant that the first time you just don't like how we took it. So i like lamar jackson for doubling down. I'm gonna be there again now. Here's the part. I don't like which leads me a little to push back on your take. Let's not act like in. The only options are wake up in the morning. Play on asphalt lamar jackson or go rob and kill somebody who. I hate that because that was the narrative me growing up. And that's why. I had the we leave around narratives around individuals who believed in a stupid narratives that that was the only options we had and i talked to the mayor competent so many times because this was something i wanted to highlight what compton because competition just got glorified and known as synonymous vyas me. You don't mean vice presidents. Come from compton you know. What many chairman. Ceos just managers teachers come from company. And all we know order rappers and a few ballplayers and i was like. That's the same thing that's getting lost is all other avenues. Not just a major boulevards baltimore if you get it but even between how real it is a baltimore. There's a student. There's a kid who's going to harvard. There's a kid who's like look. I'm a walk and we've around all these narratives that this is all we can do violence or play ball. And that's the only thing. I want to push back on the mark jackson now to your point. Don't drown as the lifeguards. Say go out there to save them. Both your not drown. So if they don't wanna be save on you. I love the fact that he is engaging in the three ts. The three ts. This time talent treasure. You have to give all three. Hopefully you do it. I see it all the talk. And i do it as well now. You could pick the times where you pick time talent treasure. He's using talent in this one right now. And he's giving them his tongue respect but also in that time you can also help them navigate into a mindset that there's more to do being on this asphalt plant football or being out there being a victim or having a victim mindset about what surrounds you and circumstances but all things considered i respect when he say because he doubled down and said it with his chest unless preface with this because now we can almost but to the aspect of is hard to ever condemn somebody for doing a good thing. What seems like it seems like in theory. We come up here how you're picking the margins but getting back to the hood as not even that. It's just a more efficient way to do that. There always is so. You don't know this because i came on the show during a pandemic. Every summer i go to nigerian medical mission. Trips with my family forty doctors and nurses were living hope ministries. We go there. We do roughly two point. Two two point five million dollars free medical work. Finally we built a hospital after several years of doing it. I realized we'd be doing a lot of stuff. Inefficiently like just as far as navigating the crowd in navigating the crowds out. We should probably sort the lines outside before bringing people inside and then asking. Hey what do you need. "Okay. Let's move on to a guy that's being compared by now to rashad. Bateman in that is lonsdale more. He went to the arizona cardinals in the second round. And this is a guy that a lot of people are on dynasty as well. Collier thoughts on rhonda. More from purview. Run more than other guy data you know. I like the talent. I kind of wonder what his role is going to be in arizona that they do have the passing volume there to support him to become a fantasy viable wide receiver. If he's talented as he can't is athleticism has shown. I think he can produce a to be coming up a pretty valuable fancy option. I just. I'm not really in love with them. Taking them in the first round though. Because i'm not confident that he ends up becoming a very coveted player long-term. I'm just not sure that he that it's without getting the volume that Some of these other top receivers. You're going to get. I'm not sure that his death. The targets are going to be Extremely valuable and so. He's renita rely on a lot of catches now again with the air raid being spread system. There should be a lot of underneath stuff or that. It can complement deandre hopkins. So you later in their careers and you might see these. Two guy switching. But as coming out of college rancho moore's is very limited in what it skills that is He did almost everything. From elias scrimmage whether handoffs or getting short yard passes and running after the catch which is it's good for a lot of offense is like i said he could be a nice compliment out nice Robin but to deandre hopkins. But i i definitely cannot see a batman batman Combination there so. I think that the upside is. The ceiling is a little bit low for me for wanting to spend a first round pick. I think that What you can do with a lot of these guys is if there if you're kind of not sold on them at a back in first or early second round picks you know people covet. Those rookie picks quite often. And you can sometimes get undervalued veteran that you know is going to produce next year i agree with you on wanda and it's baffling to me that these two guys have with similar with shout bateman in baltimore the guy. We just talked about a similar. Adp in dynasty rookie draft right now average draft addition. They're probably going round. Pick eight pick or so but like you call. I think that rondo more is more of a second round. Pick because of the fact that hopkins is already there and i'm gonna touch on that a little bit more and say that long-term if let's say rhonda more sticks with the cardinals. Is he ever going to be a number one receiver in target for cal for calamari. Because as long as the andrea is there and he's demanding one hundred seventy targets. There's not a lot of room. That offense to morris thrive. So that's why i'm with you on route. One del more. I think he's a talented receiver but Even before the draft i was not as high on rhonda with a lot of receivers seeing this landing spot to me makes him in less desirable of a prospect for me. So i'm not on the vonda more train either. And this is probably a guy that i will avoid. I have no problem taking him in the second round. But based on where i've been singing going i think he's not gonna fall to a second round. And if there's a toss up between vonda more rashad bateman the board that i'm gonna pick shot bateman That's what i'm going to be doing every every time. Because i just like Bateman a lot. More than i do rhonda more at this point. Yeah i do i. She liked the landing spot. You know. being tied to collar long-term is a is a positive. I think as far as you know where people are going to proceed even if he does come out and flashes rookie year. People are gonna get really excited to you. Know that that's one thing that i think that You either one of these guys are tied up the young quarterbacks that can rush around and can hit a deep ball i just wondered what his development curves because the way he was using college and if he does maybe this guy could be a terrific type because he really is at that super athlete of prospect. Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 02

"We're going to hop right back into it and we're going to start with rishaad bateman from the baltimore ravens. He was picked with the twenty seventh overall. Pick in nfl draft. And there's been a lot of conversations about rashaad bateman as to where he compares to some of the other receivers in this class. I know in particular out of people have been comparing him to rondo more but is there a conversation to be made that he's better than other receivers qadir's tony that went before him. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this call. Would you have to say about rashaad bateman. Yeah as far as a baby. And he's a guy that i think. A lot of other people in the industry were were higher on that. I was going into the draft. One thing i do think kind of happen with his leaning spot is these kind of seemed to fall down in some bricky drafts that i've seen and he's kinda back to where the place that i kinda thought he should be all long You know if he falls any further than where he he's kind of going like i've seen him fall as far as like Seventeenth overall in in some superplex ethic. That's just a little bit of over reaction from the from the market you know It probably settle down. He'll probably move up a little bit more as addressees goes along closer to the season. But i think there's people need to be really careful because we saw with. Aj brown where he went to a a a lesson desirable situation a few years ago and people You know pushed him down too late. I you know second second round rookie drafts and turned out to be a pretty big mistake you know. You can't overreact. To situations. Lamar jackson still developing as a passer. And we really don't know whether the baltimore offense may open up or not you know the part of the reason why they might be writing so much inhabit says low volume and passing is because they really dependent on their own their defense and the running game but it also might be an issue because they didn't have the water receivers with the skill sets the to produce so bateman adds a very vital piece in my opinion that they did not have or last couple seasons in in a possession. Receiver know that moves change as well as a another red zone threat to help out with mark andrews because really their receivers have not been responsible for touchdowns last and Marquees brown where i think. He's a good. football player. Is for a stretching the field when he's healthy i. I'm not sure that he's the type of guy that you really want to depend on in dynasty especially in ppo release because he's not going to have a high volume with the with the average depth of targets that he gets. I'd argue that this landing spot for bateman is fantastic landing spot for a rashad baby because you have an offense here with mark. He's brown and like you said. Mark brown is used primarily as deep that this is not a guy that's gonna be demanding by receiver one targets. I think he's gonna be demanding some targets. But he's the guy that's a good deep threat and he's going to have big games here and there but the baltimore. Ravens are lacking a number one receiver. And they haven't had a number one receiver for quite some years. And i can't remember quite frankly the last time they had a number one receiver and resod bateman guy to me that could hop right in there in become a true number one receiver for the baltimore. Ravens this is a great possessing catch. This is a guy that is just an all great receiver. He's going to be a great match with lamar jackson. And he's probably gonna get some solid targets away out of the gate and so i was. I'm pretty how. I was pretty high on them. Before the draft started. I had him publicly about my fourth or fifth best receiver and landing spot to me. Doesn't change anything for rashad bateman. I still think he's worthy of a late. I ask pick in dynasty rookie drafts. You could depends. Maybe even a little bit higher. But i think overall basements a great receiver and i would even argue because i know a lot of people are considering bateman to be the top of the second tier for receivers. But i would argue that. Maybe he should be considered with the first tier receivers as well because if considering jalen waddell to be in that first year a battisti receivers this year now. People are than i have to make the case. The bateman is right up there with jalen waddell because you look at geelong competition and wolf Devante parker for targets. And then you look at batman's competition for targets as well and you have like brown and the opportunity is actually better for the women's and i'd have to argue that. Lamar jackson is a better quarterback than a tiger. Ryo as well and yes. I know that they've been known for the running game in the past. But i think that's naturally because they haven't had an alpha dog receiver like rishaad based in also rashaad. Bateman is a guy that is going to be able to handle a lot more targets than jalen watteau. I don't see as high as many targets in receptions for jalen models i actually think that rashad bateman of very good receiver and he's someone worth considering in your dynasty rookie draft him would be a great value. Fell to like the back half of the first round in your dynasty rookie draft okay. Let's move on

Baker Mayfield’s Contract With Cleveland Browns Extended Through 2022

"The Cleveland Browns picked up the fifth year option for Baker Mayfield. Guaranteed at least two more seasons of the man, maybe more. He gets that contract extension and he's eligible for He was selected number one overall in the draft. That included Sam Donald two spots after him, Sam Donald looking for a new start right now, with Carolina Panthers. You can also take a look at Josh Allen selected at seventh overall, he played at an M V p level last year. And then someone who did when the M V P And has a regular season record. This is just ridiculous. I think the record might be 30 and seven Is Lamar Jackson. Baker Mayfield is to do that's just like you would select the number one. How come the other two guys had better careers or better starts than you? Baker did throw 27 touchdowns that rookie year. He did regressing year too. He did light it up last year. Think Baker is the man. I think he is the long term answer. The Cleveland Browns. I think he is able to turn things around, especially with all of the talent that he has around him because he doesn't have to do it

"So Dominique I truly hate to butter up. . You're already greasy ego but I summoned you here really to discuss Lamar Jackson and so I did two things. . The first thing I did was look up his forty time, , which was a self reported four, , three four. . And then I looked up your forty time and. . The Internet done. . Tells me that you ran. . A four, , three four. . Well unlike Lamar Jackson I do not have an MVP trophy to show for it. . I'M GONNA say it's because the Thanh hadn't caught up I was a high school quarterback. . Position I'd be doing Lamar I don't even believe that. . But as for Lamar Jackson. . It is also fair to say that nobody bought stock in this kid faster than you. . You call them a league changing prospect. . Before he was drafted, , you wrote about him last year when he was on his way to becoming the second unanimous MVP, , an NFL history. . So what did you see that other people did not? ? Think that he has the set that is. . Transcendent to use an overused term in sports media. . I think was more important in your piece that I wrote before the draft along with me times that <hes> we talked about how important it was that he landed in a perfect situation and when he went to Baltimore. . Being that it was an organization that I played in a city that I grew up in I knew that that was an organization I was smart enough to build around his skills. . But back, , then people didn't really think that way and they thought Lamar Jackson wasn't a guy who could fit. . So he clearly does or maybe he doesn't fit but they built a team around him that would fit him, which , is the way that you do with ingrate player. . So looking back now on his brief time in the league so far Lamar did face his fair share of skeptics doubters any even be competent NFL. . Horrific performances we had ever seen I'm a Baltimore Ravens Fan I'm concerned has got a lot to prove but now dominique based on how he season ended last year. . I can kind of feel some of those same doubts creeping up again. . I mean, , the Ravens scored twelve points in Jackson had three turnovers in that shocking divisional round loss to the titans. . So on that Game I. . What actually happened. . Lamar didn't play his best game, , but it's unfair to hang that on the Mar and I'm sure you've heard many stats of how long it took a lot of other great quarterbacks to win their first playoff game and even make it to the playoffs but Asaf Net if you watch that game again, , tomorrow perfect. . But it's six drops and that defense that had been stout all year was getting run all over by their Kendrick Henry breaks the tackle thirty. . Henry ten Henry down an eight yard line and they couldn't stop anybody and Lamar and a tip ball for interception. . Jackson. . Taxi fires down the Middle Ball ticket buyer. . Need through one later that was probably his fault and gave up a sack fumble. . Taxing under. . Pressure. . grabbed. . Compost. . There's a fight for it. . So he wasn't perfect but I think it's unfair to hang it all on sodas. . He threw some really impressive passes some of which were some of which were dropped but to be this earliest career to have as much success as he's had I think is. . is encouraging, ,

"Game Designer Landry getting into altercations. With had nothing to do with me my at but. I just to be a guy who had to deal with opposition coming. So I always try to defuse oldest issues, but it led to running a lot faster than he probably would have. A Thought. Over through it and it dropped right into. The perfect spot man so I learned that day. Never questioned one andy's play cards and never think that you out though these signs. So. Funny because I'm a little jealous because back in the day on mad and I used to play with your cover athlete at once you really celebrated for being a revolutionary, the quarterback position when Baltimore there's another guy that's being celebrated in the more Jackson early on, you were able to identify him as a special player what about him makes him so special and Why were you able to see that beer really early when he was in college but I just fun to watch like you know when the mall coming into a game, you're going to get some things that you don't normally see that's worse foremost and watching him at Florida state game to happen to have a Saturday where accurate it's relaxed and watching college football. You know I caught Lamar Jackson because I've been hearing about how good he was and how dynamic plan here become saint them just dismantle Florida state and I'm like that's not easy to do you know this is one of the top tier teams in in college football and they just don't get ran through. By anyone. And I I had to go through extremes to make something happen against Florida state. Physically and mentally exhausted you going through their process and then he just made it look so easy and effortless. Just breeze through the defense and everything they call he like he was enjoying the play call like give me more give me more and then next thing you know the school like fifty two points and I'm like that's happening against Florida state like don't happen to Florida state man so. Instantly my mind and I'm thinking about what this guy's GonNa look like when he touched the NFL and I know what it's like to have. You know uncanny ability you know unlike some others where you can do different things. And he was able to make it look different and I just think that this was going to happen in the NFL and a couple of years accorded back. Then I'm not going to continue to say that you know I don't know why I said that he was better than me at the time but I felt it. You know, and now he's proven it and you know a thousand yards late at one season like early group, my records and everything he's proven that he's GonNa be one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. We had gone. We talked about it and you can even use the phrase actually hold on I. We have the tape because I want to roll the tape back. So you can hear what you said. You can say reference it a little bit. We roll the tape here. Let's roll the tape. What was your impression? The first time you saw him on the field yeah. I heard about the mall on. Several occasions and that was the first day I was actually in the House on a Saturday. Watson College football and I happen to Catch Louisville Florida state. And I could not believe what.

"Takes exit to the outside stiff are twice on Thomas. These Alex first down run mostly through Derrick Henry and really. Nobody's playing in this way where you could win a game. Only complete seven or eight passes which the titans of done now two weeks in a row and Henry who is a free agent to being this this off season has been incredible steroid pick man takes inside the unease having a historic postseason. And he if he can add onto it and they see championship game and potentially the Super Bowl. I mean you're you're talking about a guy who could have more rushing yards in the playoffs than any running in. NFL history and we've got to talk about the trick. Play play direct. Snap Henry Trickery Corey Davis Touchdown Tennessee. The Big Man Derrick Henry takes the snap and does this soft little almost basketball jump shot of a pat. He talked about it after the game. I think he's got some opportunities to throw the ball in the past and hasn't converted. They know how to pass play. I didn't miss like two of them. All right down like man I gotta I gotta I gotTa hit this all. This is going to be ugly for me. So I'll how do gloves able to get that one too. So he was really feeling the pressure that he couldn't miss another one or they wouldn't give him another opportunity for the perfect man. I'm done that passing high school. You know aw I feel like a turning point in the game it did you. Don't the Ravens had these three drives in the second half the first one they failed on a fourth one the second one I believe was a fumble by Lamar Jackson and the third one was an interception and then the titans on the other hand. We're able to move the football and score when they got the ball so I thought that little stretch there where the where the ravens were turning the ball over on three straight drives and then you had this sequence here with Derrick Henry. That's what I felt like. The air was really let out of the stadium and fans started to think. You know what this really isn't going to be our night and we're not gonNA end up winning this game. She'll do you think the ravens got beat at their own game in a way they definitely did. I mean the formula. You look at what the titans did with running the ball so effectively and also get out to an early lead that has been a staple of out the ravens at one games all season Stan. They've just start out the gate they there's jumped all over opponents. They've gotten out to big leads and then they've held onto a more extended them throughout the course of the game. They haven't had to play from behind a lot. This season it into this was really the opposite where the titans were the ones who came in right away on the road and they were able to get out to a fast leat and then they were able to run the ball over and over and Over again against the Ravens. This is the second straight season where Lamar Jackson has had an underwhelming performance in the playoffs. And that has some people asking if there are or to Lamar Jackson's the Mark Jackson regular season. Lamar Jackson postseason Jackson. Now has five turnovers into career. Yeah I gotta say. I'm not looking forward over to the next eight months here fiery hot Lamar Jackson takes on every show around the country. But I think there has to be some nuance. Sure I think is totally fair to point out that you know for the second straight year. He didn't have a great game in the playoffs. He turned the ball over. His passing was not as good as it had been during the regular season. But then I think we have to look at the other side of this. which is that the guy just turned into an empty at the age of twenty two? And when Peyton Manning thing was twenty two through twenty interceptions and the colts were three and thirteen. When Tom Brady was twenty two he hadn't even been in the NFL yet? When Aaron Rodgers was twenty two he it was a backup who through sixteen passes the entire season? And so when you look at the growth. That Lamar Jackson made from last year to this year. It's incredible credible. And so for anyone to kind of say this is the ceiling or this is the peak and he can't get better. I think that's just absolutely ridiculous. You know all season long. We've we've been asking. How do you stop? Lamar Jackson. Did the titans solve that puzzle. I don't think so. I mean the Ravens still had over five hundred yards of offense twenty nine first downs. It was really the turnovers and in the field for downs that the Ravens didn't convert so I think the titans deserve credit. I think it's a find ways to play the ravens where you say you know what we're going to stop the run game at all costs and we're going to see if we can sort of stop your wide receivers and you're passing game with limited resources. But Lamar Jackson did make great strides as a pastor this season if he continues to improve in that area. It's still going to be pretty difficult to defend. We heard what Lamar Jackson had to say at the post game press conference. You still have huge expectations for what you guys are GonNa do in the definitely on a young commission. Commissioner offense We we get better. Get better off from you. You already have an idea of specific exit. You're going to get to work on the offseason or a little. It'll be the same took everything low. You always room for improvement. You know he said right. After the game I turn the ball over. I can't do that. It was on me. I had too many issues there and so I just they between his work ethic work ethic is leadership ship. How we is as a teammate? Then obviously the natural abilities he has I think he's in for a very long and impressive career. What was the scene in the Ravens is locker room like after the game? They were definitely disappointed. I think they did not anticipate You know in any way that this was going to be their last game of the year and so oh you know. They're all a lot of people. Giving hogs a lot of those players are not going to be on the team. Next year whether it's players coaching staff new draft picks all all those different types of things and it was really interesting that you know each player had these silver nameplates on top of their locker with their name and their number on it and it was there was probably the only two or three guys still left in the locker room. Still getting dressed or doing interviews and they were like four or five Raven. Staffers just climbing up those locker stalls and removing being those nameplates. I thought pretty symbolic of how quickly things change the fight. Finality of a loss like that. So Yeah I think you can definitely make that case simplisafe home. And how it's going to be fifty three different players not all all fifty three but certainly the makeup of that fifty three man roster next year is going to be different than it was this year and she'll looking forward to next season. What are the Ravens? Need to do to rebuild. I think there's two areas and I think it's it's not a huge rebuild. I think they've gotTA FILL A SURRO-.

You haven't been paying attention. Are the best team in football. Did you look at what they did. In the regular season it was really historic the way they dominated not just the record fourteen to too but kind of the way they won those games they had hoped field advantage throughout the AFC so they were big favorites Safeway. Some time the Baltimore Ravens are GonNa play the San Francisco Forty niners ball landed. They were nine and a half point favorites in this the game and I think Ravens fans winning expecting that this would be the first of at least two wins. Maybe the first of three wins and a Super Bowl title rob and what were the big questions in your mind going into this game. Really the big question was how the titans would play the Ravens. Would they be able to run the football and and put together these long drives because the ravens offense had really been unstoppable the entire season and the best way opponents some opponents head success was to just give them fewer possessions and so I think the titans went into this game thinking if we can run the ball a lot string together long drives. Keep the ball out of l'amour Jackson's hands. That's our one chance chance of winning the game. At least that's how I saw it going into the game and so on the very first offensive drive for the Ravens. They're looking pretty good. But then and Lamar Jackson threw an interception. You know maybe a sign of things to come. And the titans pretty soon scored two touchdowns onto pretty incredible credible catches tannahill tosses end zone touchdown spectacular tacked on the first CD. You had John Smith making this diving. one-handed left-handed really incredible grab. Yeah you really did. I mean it was in the left side of the end zone and it's always funny. What announcer started talking about one cheek in or two cheeks in or or did he? Does it count score a look at it at left cheek may have been down one left cheek work. Select two knees right Jim. What do you think I agree with Dan about the left cheek equally two feet? Dan Can you. Can you split cheeks. And then you had Ryan Tannehill launching a fifty yard pass to Colle- Raymond who really laid out in the end zone to make that catch Tara Hill for the home. Run Ball separation touchdown tightening point forty five yards tanny and this is something that a lot of teams do around the League which is after they get a turnover midfield. They like to come out on the first play right after that. Ah Take a shot and try to go for a big play and score right away another spectacular touchdown reception before you knew it. You look up and you say wait a minute. The Ravens were nine and a half point favorites and now they're down here fourteen. Nothing it's a situation. They really hadn't been in a lot this season except for maybe one or two games and even those games were against opponents that we're not as good as this titans team and then the ravens had to drive before halftime but both times ended up having to settle for field goals which is kind of on characteristic for them it is. They've been very good red zone offense. Ravens have to settle for three. It's been a frustrating first-half Boulevard Jackson the Ravens so yeah that is one of many things that was uncharacteristic of this raven steam. There really were a lot of things that were uncharacteristic fourth down conversions was another one. Yeah this is something I wrote about for the athletic during the season they really kind of embraced analytics addicts and the thought that NFL coaches are way too conservative on fourth down and that they should be way more aggressive and specifically in those situations fourth and one and so John John Harbaugh had been the most aggressive fourth-down coach in the NFL. This season they have been the best team in the NFL this season but when you get to the NFL playoffs is just one game. Try to get there. They clear the area for the measurement short. And that's the first time ravens have failed to convert a fourth and one all season it. They were eight for eight on fourth and one during the regular season in this game they were so for two and I think those two failed fourth down. Conversions agents were really huge in this game and Lamar Jackson had only thrown six interceptions all year. But he threw two in this game and had a fumble. How much of that was the titans making big plays defensively versus the Ravens Choking? Well I definitely want to give the titans credit because I think upfront specifically typically. They did a great job with their defensive line against the Ravens offensive line and so they definitely deserve credit there. But if you look at sort of the overall statistics of this game and how how it played out the Ravens still had over five hundred yards of total offense so I think the titans had a good plan that took advantage of their opportunities but at the same time. Hi It's not like they completely shut down the ravens the Ravens move the ball into Tennessee territory. Drive after Dr After Dr. They just weren't able to finish and as the game went on on the titans really just kept pounding away at the Ravens.

"Is amazing right now one moment your set all kinds of records tonight how would you Lamar Jackson defend Lamar Jackson at this point for myself you know you may do what is the feel like right now it is you know all in order to keep going all the stores are always resolution stay healthy thank you so much ravens shorted division title after they clinched a playoff berth four days earlier in buffalo with the win next week in Cleveland they'll be sure to the top seed in the AFC which comes with home field leading up to the Superbowl it's time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless head coach John Harbaugh on sports and with this EP it's a great accomplishment you know it's our first goal is there is to win the NFC north championship is not our top goal but we're happy with our province a gets a great division we still have two more games total plan the division we wanna win both of those games but it's important to us it matters to us our guys gonna Werner T. shirts and hats with pride as you can see and then we'll move on to get ready for the Browns what will mark Jackson I started walking it back like about a week two or three I I did a piece on the show and I don't I never I never was publicly critical but I I'm I know I thought after that playoff game last year I don't know this guy can do it and then obviously you all recognized what he could do and figured out how to make him what he is when did you all as a group realize wow this this could be something that's just we really haven't seen a lot quicker than you did a well we we but you know you're a big man I appreciate that you are that's it says a lot about you and yet you have a chance to say you know I was wrong I was in a lot of people work and it's okay you know we felt we can we talk about no margin action in the draft means weeks and weeks before we actually they'll fall through the draft we made a decision that and we knew that who's gonna be different it was gonna be unique and we talked about and we start making our plans and we decided that I was going to be the way we're going to go he was going to be our guide some point time a we had Joe we love Jo Jo could have been there for whatever time it was but some point time was gonna be Lamar and that was going to be our guy we're gonna build an offense around his unique skill set you know what he does well and to me that's what that's what a coach should always do for every player try to build something around their skill set and help them be the best player they can be and I think our coaches have done a great job of that but mostly Lamar's done a great job with that and I'm real proud of him that's just one phase though and your do your defense in the offseason lost so much that was the identity for for many many years and I'm so impressed with how they've been able to to form a new identity obviously Earl comes in he's been a leader elsewhere but it feels like you haven't missed a beat how would you describe the way that group has has really forged a bond they have I feel the same way we have a lot of pride you know and and we do we get a chance to read about what people say and because you lost some players you know you don't have I guess it's just the same the guys you have are good enough and guys take it personally touches take it personally and you go to work and then you try to build some around the guys you have I think we have a great system and I think that the players play really really hard they ask you to system and that's what it's all about right on cue there was a dog wireless everything for less only at a Walmart more the ravens tender straight win later in the show to college football LSU quarterback Joe Berle honored Thursday at the twenty nineteen home depot college football awards and the Maxwell and Davey o'brien award given to the best overall player best quarterback in college football one by burl in both cases he beat out fellow Heisman finalists for the way in Oklahoma quarterback Jilin hurts Ohio state defensive end chase young for the Maxwell and Ohio state court at Justin field for the Brian meantime Perot was also named the Walter Camp player of the year earlier in the day in the eight Pete named emits player of the year he is LSU's first player to win the honor and twenty one years the LSU signal caller with sports centers Kevin no Gandhi issues on our this is exactly on right how I envisioned it to be honest and I know.

"Ahmed complain about yeah it's on Lamar Jackson and Lamar Jackson has a bull's-eye on that leg that was injured on Sunday against the bills and he's questionable with quadriceps injury and and that we just know from from history that Greg Williams even though he's careful about what he says and does now I I think that that message still comes across and it's still a key part of football through sheer force of will and physicality and aggression that's right you can in a clean legal head yeah render your opponent on able to continue and that's one of the pathways to victory if you can legitimately legitimately apply a hit it makes the best player on the other team say honey to tap out for a little while right yeah that's right I mean I'd be disappointed if Greg Williams wasn't telling his defense to make Lamar Jackson pay if he's running the ball I'd be disappointed I mean he's supposed to do that you're right and I don't think he's gonna say they did it did it did it but but here's the thing yes we're at a point now where even saying that feels wrong I know that is such a core part of football and I think bounty scandal in the way it was handled the aftermath of it and this constant sensitivity to player health and safety it makes you feel like there's something for bidden about suggesting that that is what football is all about but I guarantee within those buildings and all those practice fields and in those locker rooms they know that's part of what football is all about yes you you do you hear it all the week even as it often supplier you know you get the sim team meetings in the coach goes through the overall game plan and says a few things and talks about guys you know you start to hear their well we got to make this guy pay when he does this we gonna make him pay do that you know we got a gang tackle we all got to get the ball and get a shot on this guy you know those are that's the that's the way football is made of but yeah it's it's not a pretty sport is not for everybody I mean we're all freaking stupid for planet but we love it and it's great and it you know don't be don't be mad Lamar does what he signed up for he'll be okay next topic what's more likely Mr Robiskie stays hot and shreds the Green Bay defense or true biscuit turns back into the guy that we saw three weeks ago I'm gonna go to risky stays hot instructs the Packers defense I think is a dangerous game for the Green Bay Packers won the Green Bay Packers defense as we know what a love it too I think matinee give it your best your hot right now I'd like to kind of what matinee he's been doing as far as game planning tying place together the last few weeks and I think Mitchell Jervis he's kind of like turn the corner and has a little confidence got the hot hand right now big cat just texted the bears are back yeah that's right I I'll tell you like that I think they're back big guy I think they are I think they're dangerous I I I feel like this is one of those games where the Chicago offense will be good but the Packers offense will respond and it'll be a point of pride for Erin raw data not lose at home to the bears I ought lose their hold on the NFC north our lead at least not yet all right what's more likely Steve's Bagnall on the chiefs defense can take out confused through lock or lock hangs tough in a shoot out with Patrick my home so okay well I always want to say both here okay I know that's not like because I think Steve's Bagnall is going to confuse drew lock okay I don't think this will be a shoot out because I think Vic Fangio on the Broncos defense is going to give me a pain in the **** but the chief still where I think this will be a somewhat close football game I just don't see it as being that kind of thing where it's a tank top in a shoot out it's thirty one twenty eight or thirty four thirty one I think both of us are going to struggle a little bit I think it'll be a game more that's like and the very low twenties if not you know upper teens somewhere around there and every is buzz Lightyear to infinity and beyond I yeah and I agree with you I mean you can confuse him but I think he's still going to have his moments you still gonna have his place he's back in Missouri playing this week he's too are now that the right to seize confident yeah and I think he makes the Broncos dangers any creates real hope for twenty twenty yeah the possibility they finally found their franchise quarterback alright what's more likely Mike rebels defensive game plan slows down to Sean Watson or Watson dominates the Titans with improvisational play I'm going door number one you know the Titans they got you know a first off will fall or the status of that's always either who knows so that does that so I'm always worried about that because he's a game changer for that offense in general but the Titans defense their creative you know the type the Texans offense is a blow me out of the water with their creativity on the other side and the Titans are up pretty athletic up front I think they'll have the right approach as far as containing him so I'm not saying the Titans win the game but I do think though slow down the Sean Watson certainly make life hard on him yeah I I agree with you and and really to Sean wants and doesn't have a whole lot to help he's got the Andre Hopkins will fuller is the wild card he was out last week after having a a couple of very good game right and they need him it can't just be de Andre Hopkins it's too easy in today's NFL to take away one great receive you've got to be able to compliment him and and the Titans just a you know with the Titans offense is gonna be a factor in this is well we could buy a theory a shoot out it could be because the tie if if they're a Derrick Henry I think is the wild card because he didn't practice all Wednesday he's got a leg problem but Henry's been great right ten has been great to be a great game and they'll be a rematch just two weeks after they play they played twice in the final three weeks they're tied for division lead and it's a great finish coming for the AFC south all right what's more likely us more specifically who's more likely to score a game changing defensive talks down on Sunday night football the Pittsburgh Steelers a buffalo bellow to great defenses I think the you know this will be a defense a struggle but I think if you make me pick one for a game changing defense of TV I'm gonna go with the team that I've seen consistently do that kind of stuff all year as much as I love Sean McDermott that bills defense man that's Steelers defense causes havoc there are really creative there are big fast physical and that that usually and they create a laid back a lot of chaos that way that can create a lot of turnovers and and angst from a quarterback yeah and it's just the Steelers playing at home in prime time you just feel like at some point it's going to pop that that they have players who are good enough to make a play and to just understand in that moment you know and and I think part of it too I think I really do think and this may sound stupid but that's never stopped me from saying something in the past I really feel like when an opponent is out there on the field and they see the black and gold come out ideas matter who's wearing the uniform ha I feel like it messes with the heads of who they're playing I'm Mike I don't disagree with you one bit there the Steelers they have a stake ma an aura about them were bigger we will fight you right here on the field we're going to beat you up and Mike Tomlin you know he he kinda eggs you know what I want to say he exudes that suit yeah and the rest of the team does too and you know when you're playing Pittsburgh you better have like your Big Boy pads on yeah and you know I know I've told you this before but when I go around training camps in the summer and I tell people I've been in Pittsburgh the first thing everybody wants to know is are they hidden in practice yeah hi yeah they're hidden I mean when we got show me a Peter king were there this year it wasn't hit and I was like are we played in like a playoff game here I couldn't get over the hitting that was going on it was like wham bam take you to the ground I mean they were just that they didn't care of just another training camp day they're gonna go after that's the way they are in Pittsburgh and I think that's one of the reasons why they've got eight into after starting the season and three are at last one which running backs more likely to hit one hundred yards from scrimmage Ezekiel Elliott or Todd Gurley of course it's cowboys hosting the rams on Sunday yeah I'm going Todd Gurley here one we saw how the rams ran the ball last last year against the cowboys they cracked the code in the playoff game the divisional playoff game the rams had two hundred yard rushers you know last week the they played the Seattle Seahawks to play the same scheme the Dallas Cowboys did and they cracked the code again there was things they did to the Seattle Seahawks last week that they did to the cowboys schematically was the same type of game plan and the cowboys as we know they don't change anything up it's always just this is what we play we're gonna play harder we're gonna hit harder that's great because the rams play hard hit hard to and they're going to win that match up and and I feel like even though the cowboys are in this fight with the eagles for the NFC east championship the rams are more desperate because they're the ones who have to run the table the cowboys don't have to run the table they can lose this week even if the eagles win and they win their last two in this they're gonna win the division is going to come down to Dallas at Philadelphia week sixteen I and and it's hard to have any faith whatsoever in the cowboys based on the product we seen the past few weeks are gonna take a break we'll return we're actually gonna finish what we started last segment the fatal flaws of the AFC playoff teams we have three more teams to get too will get to them when PFT live continues right after this.
