"Radio accompany you to work. And now from the air WGN's traffic copter brings you live, updates on your daily commute traffic on the outbound, Stephen So you're right to work isn't work on Chicago's very own wtn. Tuesday afternoon in Chicago, and another day we're all wishing for just a little bit of sunshine. I'm Lisa Dan in for an ID of Lantus. The headlines always say that everybody is moving out of Illinois, and there are statistics to prove that and there might be a little bit of spin on this story. I pulled it from the patch, and I find it a bit amusing because, the headline says Three Illinois cities are among the U. S news. Best places to live. Anybody want to take a guess as to what those three cities are? Best places to live. They looked at 150 metropolitan areas across the nation and three in Illinois made the top 50 list. One of them comes in at 1 33. So is I mean, yes, by, you know, by their criteria that that is one of the top 1 50 places to live, but really So new additions to the nationwide list include to Illinois suburbs and Chicago. One third of Americans say the coronavirus pandemic has them. Reevaluating where they live. I think we're all going through that. Maybe that's what's behind the big House sales boom, But with that in mind, some of them say they actually want to move to Illinois. Where are these people? Who did they interview? Peoria, Chicago in Rockford are now listed. As number 87 12 and 1 33, respectively, as the best places to live in the United States. That's according to a new ranking released this week by U. S News and World Report. Now I find that stunning because I was born and raised in Rockford and Rockford always gets a bad rap and often with good reason. Um, they have a tough time They have some struggles. They came in at number 1 33 on this top 1 50 list. Peoria came in at number 87 Chicago came in at 102. So it's the 21 22 list that ranks the countries 150 most populous metropolitan areas. And it's based on affordability, job prospects and desirability, and I heard John Williams talking today about you know some of the the best places to live. You know how that factors in and there's just so many different lists like this? But this year, researchers also looked at how the top communities fared. Through the pandemic and how much work is needed to recover because that's a big factors. So for the second consecutive year like I heard, John Williams say, Boulder, Colorado is named the number one place to live due to the high quality of life. Their robust job market and high desirability scores. Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina jumped nine spots to take number two in Huntsville, Alabama. Moves. 12 spots up to number three and a lot of that again has to do with how they reacted to the pandemic and what has happened since then. So overall, Peoria received a score of 6.5 on a 10 point scale. Their job market comes in at 6.3 the value It's really the value of the house and and how you can live as 8.1 and quality of life. Chicago followed with the score of 6.3 and a 10 point scale. And they had our quality of life at 6.3. But the desirability was at 7.7. And then Rockford received a score of 5.8 still makes the top 150 cities to live in the job market is only a five point. Oh, but the value is a 7.4. Quality of life is only a 5.8 So pandemic related unemployment played a big role in where these cities landed on this year's ranking, and some of the biggest changes included Boston, which fell 13 spots. Vegas, which dropped 50 spots in San Diego, which is supposed to be you know, America's finest city. Dropped 52 spots. Honolulu fell 42 spots. Interesting. Um, somebody just from 815 said. Have you been to Rockford lately? Check us out. I'm in Rockford every week. That's for my family lives. So, yes, I do Love Rockford. It was where I was born and raised. But being a kid who went to Rockford East High School In my first year of high school, they passed a referendum that eliminated all sports All theater. All drama, every extracurricular activity that carries with you for a long time. Sometimes in Rockford, Decisions were made that might not have been in the best interest of the people who live there. So I get it and I love Northern Illinois, or I simply wouldn't live here. There's a lot of news being made about what is happening at school board meetings are trying to track somebody down. Who was at the Naperville School board meeting. Were you there last night? I'd like to talk to you 312981 72 100. Apparently a lot of division as you can imagine, because parents are divided over whether masks should be mandatory win. School resumes when when your kids go back to school in the fall. Do you want to wear a mask? Or do you not want him wearing a mask? Lake Force superintendent of schools called on Governor Pritzker to let the schools make the decisions about the masks and the vaccines. But apparently last night it got kind of got kind of heated at Naperville District two Oh three school board meeting because they were talking about keeping students and staffs staff fully masked when the classes resume. August 16th. Yeah, back to school. In just over a month. And that comes despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation that school guidelines be relaxed, but they were talking about making sure that the staff and the students are fully masked when they go back, and every parent, of course, has a different viewpoint on this, it's going to be interesting to see Where where it falls. What school districts make this decision to say kids don't have to wear a mask. Teachers don't have to wear a mask or whether they do and you know that, you know, in your own family. That's a heated debate. Let alone if you try and bring together a whole community of people with many different points of view and Children with a variety of needs, or or accommodations that need to be made. It's It's a very difficult situation to have, and I would not want to be on a school board these days and have to Moderate or even answer those questions in a form like a school board meeting, But that's what needs to happen. Everybody's got their voice. Everybody's voice should definitely be heard. Okay. If you are furious at your parents for aging, apparently you're not alone. I'm kind of saddened by this story. Apparently, some people are getting angry, especially those in the sandwich generation, meaning that not only are they taking care of a school age child in dealing with masks and At school teaching and all that kind of stuff, But they're also dealing with a parent who needs attention and financial support as well. And they say, if you are struggling because you're witnessing your parents age and maybe decline, you are not alone because it is a very stressful transition. They say when adult Children begin to see their parents less is capable caregivers and more as those needing care themselves. They're really looking at their own future, and that's what causes stress because you're like. Is that going to be me? Am I going to be the one that needs a hearing aid at age 70? Or am I going to be using a walker at 75? Children begin to wonder how quickly they'll declining When I say Children, we're talking about people in their forties or fifties. They're also concerned about how financially sound their parents are and what their future living situation will be. Those are all very difficult things that we all have to face at some point. I mean, I consider it a blessing that I got to face that. With my mom. You know the last four years of her life. She lived with us because it was too hard to take care of her house and my house. And that means you know, the snow shoveling and the law knowing and everything else. Otherwise, she would have been Been fine to live in her house on 28th Street in Rockford, Illinois, even up to age 93 or 94, except the neighborhood had declined just a little bit. So if you're one of those people going through a stressful situation, they said, just hang in there and rely on other caregivers. And it is interesting that hair dye in wrinkle cream are kind of embraced. You know all the things to keep us younger. When we you know, are faced with hearing AIDS and walkers. It's kind of like, Oh, now we're getting old. Everybody just wants to beat the age thing. Half of adults in their forties and fifties have a parent 65 or older and they're still raising a young child or financially supporting a child, 18 or older and still trying at the same time to take care of their parents offers something Maybe it is lawn mowing or, you know, shoveling snow. One in seven in the U. S. Is financially supporting both an aging parent and a child. Have you been in that situation?.

There was a search warrant performed at his house. June twenty eighth complicated. They will also do a search warrants on richardson tiles. Find thomas anything that could be possible weapon or in his cell phone records check in all of that july they also sent security officers to check the entire columbia area apartment complexes subdivisions parts. They went everywhere looking for my brother including my dad. My dad made his own quest to find shelton on his own mini nights late nights. He would go out looking and swats lakes forces like my dad was fire military. So was out there with flashlights. Looking and looking for my brother. Between june twenty second and july the second we had local news coverage That had twenty thousand dollar reward for anyone that about shelton's whereabouts and in trying to locate car Driving actually the case went tunnel at a standstill until their will the dispatch to police in april. Two thousand three on twenty six two thousand three dispatched to the police for noise. Disturbance was called in to richland county sheriff's department. Doing they got there at the greenbrier apartment on park lane avenue in philadelphia. That's when bay round the nineteen eighty eight oldsmobile regency that my brother was driving and they ran the license tag and that when they sent the license tag plate number over may call it in. They said this is linked to the missing person chilton sanders. That is when we got the news about that was requested from richland county that the case be transferred over to some county or continuation of the investigation. Eventually shelton's missing vehicle was located sitting in an apartment complex. I could non understand how had it had sat there for two years without arousing any suspicion or getting towed will vary explain this because the par was sitting near for almost three years. They got a t shirt in their a sprite in seven. Can we the ashtray things. We love compartment stirring real. They try to test. All of that woman all came back positive had wondered how the car got there. It obviously didn't drive itself to the complex. I asked will vary if she thought that richardson drove the car to the complex in an attempt to hide the car law enforcement is saying they believe mark. Richardson parked there after he gets killed at olympia when they give the search warrant on june twenty eight two thousand and one they speak to the neighbors of martin. Richardson and they said that they heard three three gunshots. Between eleven. fifteen and eleven thirty. They hear three gunshots and they come outside and coach mark from behind the bushes. 'cause they couldn't hardly see him because it was nighttime and he said oh not. That was nothing that was just my car backfiring with his three each gunshot powell powell powell and they said it was definitely done shocked when they came outside. It startled them so much that they had thought they were doing. Come outside and xm's everything alright. He said that everything's fine. It was just my car backfiring right so they believe that. My brother was shot and killed at the olympia avenue. House mark. richardson's residents and martin. Richardson took my brother's car and parked it at the greenbriar apartments. There's different theories of what happened. I feel that there was a reason for that car to be parked there. You just don't just pick a location and say hey here in the just happened by look that nobody reported it well. The car was was reported by residents at the greenbrier apartment. More than one on one occasion. It was actually documented than it was reported twice but because the apartment complex was under different management during those year. Twenty two thousand and one or two thousand three. They changed out management several times. We do have a resident that was interviewed and was on the witness stand. He actually said that he was the one that reported this car because he said he park next to the car several on several times and he noted that the are never moved car tires or before heading into the ground and the oil was coming out and reported the car park complex. Did nothing about it. The car was parked in between in eighteen and building. Twenty greenbrier apartment. This apartment complex was checked back in two thousand and one but the person who checked it the security officer with a different regions in the columbia area that check their whole entire apartment complex. So that's why the car was found in two thousand one. They say they didn't check the entire complex. I found it unusual that a car could just sit there for two years and no one was ever seen around it. I asked if any of the neighbors saw richardson or anyone else getting in around the car. Note the people that they're they interview at that was living at the greenbrier apartments. They said they know the car was there. They just said they see. Many people pass by the car like going to their far in near it would not doing anything with the cars. It was just sitting there. I'm not sure. They gave him a pitcher with mark. Richardson look like to to compare it or not. Will basically that just sat there without movement for over a year. They said they know for sure. It was there for over a year but when they took the car into the lab. They said that the car had lost all of its oil. Gasoline tires. Hypic laid it. So they definitely want to say that it was there on june nineteen because of the condition that the problems in our for this part of the interview. I spoke to detective sergeant. Walter sean mc dangles of the richland county sheriff's apartment. He is the detective the case together against mark richardson. I asked detective mcdaniels about the possibility of trying. Richardson again. If they uncovered new evidence or located a witness he's still under pressure of you know potentially going back to court. You know this particular time. We needed We had an all star team on the solicit assigned basically To be have three premiere attorneys trying that case and the case went really well it was a seven five split on the jury and so it it needed to it. Needs to actually have the same star lineup to be honest with you to to put this up. Typically in south carolina a lot of listeners are uncomfortable with trying a no body case despite the circumstantial evidence after speaking to wolf area about the hung jury. I wondered if they would have found richardson guilty. Had there been a body. I think this particular during may have convicted. Richardson had there been a body. Maybe they felt like they couldn't convict someone. If they thought that there is a possibility that the person might somehow still be alive. I asked detective mcdaniels.

"Playing. Dan Hampton Song, Man. Let's check in with The Hall of Famer and 7 18 Morning. Dan's. You have a good time watching the games yesterday. Good morning and It was I hate to say it kind of Ah lesson in, uh, pro football. 101 for Our beloved bears to kind of take note ourselves. If you if you stand back and look at it, what do you know? What's the common denominator of the Final four? These four teams. We will see battle it out from Sunday in the A, C and N A C championship game. It is the position that we can't get correct and You look at it and it Z. You look at the M V p voting for the National Football League this year, the three quarterbacks That will come in 12 and three are gonna be joined by Tom Brady that the goat the greatest of all time winner of six Super Bowls, so It only underscores the fact that you know having them Going to go through that 90 minutes. Session of psychobabble last week. It's just it makes your head spin. Just thinking. Hey, hey, cut to Did you think that the press conference that they threw Travis Key under the bus? Because a lot of people think that was the case. Did you think so? Gentlemen, Let's just put the cheese on the cracker, he said. Four years Get in and drive the bus they brought in a coach and coordinators and quarterback whisperers and all this You know, all this stuff suggested that helped him become functional. And if the bear modicum he's been, you know, a passable or occasion. But let's be real through this gives played himself under the bus and You can just, you know, keep you know wishing on a falling star are you want? I mean, you've had four years you've seen it and Um, you know, the Bears made a big deal out of that that Pip squeak three game winning streak at the end of the season after losing six in a row. Well, by the way, there were two other teams in the NFL that lost six in a row. Other coach and GM Boca Farm. So what I'm saying is the great players the good players. They won't let you get into a six game, you know, run like that. We didn't have anybody that you know, came out there and did anything about it till we got to. You know, the 30th 31st and 32nd ranked defense and football, and then we were able to be, you know, somewhat. Viable. Hamp the kind of watching the Saints run that a lot to take on a Monday morning this on and so is watching the Saints run that flea flicker. Yesterday that the Bears try to get them the week earlier. Seeing them hit pay dirt with it for for a touchdown. I mean, it's almost like kind of that. I mean, I guess, in a way, I mean, that's how the NFL is right. You're you're always looking for ideas and looking Tonto borrow beggar steal whatever you could find from other teams, but it It's kind of like pouring salt in the wound a little bit in it. Absolutely. You know, it is what it is. We we had a chance. But the Saints nobody receiver comfortable and are nobody receiver dropped it and You know that's the difference in the game of football and you could go back and look at you know it's true breezed in throw three picks, and if it's if it's well, it's it's about making place. And you know, the Bears were in a position during the game last week down in New Orleans forever today. Be able to make a play. And yet when we're down 73 A minute 48 left on the clock. We're just you know, in our 20th are 18 yard line. We've got two timeouts. We hand the ball off three times the third time to our third string running back. It tells you that Not only can does this coaching staff not believe through this, he can make it play. They don't even want to give him an opportunity because they're scared to And you know why they're scared? Because if he throws one of those crazy passes and it becomes intercepted, then you know the Avalanche starts. So again, it, uh It's nothing else. Anyone that's ever watch the game of football takes away from you watch basically going to transpire this weekend. It is More pass rushing is great and you get a cover corner. That's great man and man, David Montgomery was really running the ball hard. All that doesn't matter if you don't have the one position. Take it out in our gentle manager has no clue who signs my Clinton then dressed for Biscay over the two guys, you know who and Then this year, we way trade for folds and then basically emasculated him with no protection, no running game And then he becomes, you know, pretty much. You know, uh, cast off. So it Zubin. It's been a long time coming, but you know we could weaken. Wish you know Tampa Bay. They had not made the playoffs in what 15 years and they decide to take a flutter. On a guy that has been the greatest ever his position and Now they're going to the NFC championship game because of that one player. Tampa Bay last year was a joke. This year. You're going to dream that so again. If if you can't I need to get neon lights and put up outside of Lake Force Town line exit. So ran paste can see it every time he gets off the freeway quarterback. Any chance the Bears are going to get this show on Watson's You're gonna be available with the Bears go after him. They're not gonna be able to put a package together to get in. You know, there's a bunch of you know other teams that are in a position, you know way Since we have zero cap space. We're paying $41 million next year. Think about this guys. As you go to your checkbook this week and figure out how we're gonna you know. Keep the lights on $41 million to kill Leo Mac and Robert Quinn. You guys. That's almost a quarter of your now who? Who would do that? Who would? Who would put you in a box like that? Well, that that's right. It's Ryan Pace. But anyway, the point is, uh, Houston to get him out of there. You'd have to give him three number ones. Now who's Who's worked three number ones. Any. You know, Patrick, my homes, you know, has been that by the way Patrick Mahomes after leaving the game yesterday. Have a new sponsor for me, Sherman. It wasn't much of a hit leave a very important football game in the fourth quarter, but all that being said it takes three number ones. And I don't know what you're getting paid 50 million years. Something crazy like that, so What you do is You. You put on your sneakers and you hit the trail and you find the next Patrick my home. So the next dish disarm Watson and and that's how you do it. Now. I mean, he's uh He's a movie star, and you'd have to go give up the world for him. So you know again, decisions have consequences. Well, we made some really bad ones, and now we're paying for it. Which of these games going to be the best one next Sunday. Do you think? Well, both of you going to be great, you know, you know if my home's comes back, which you know with this protocol, Yeah, I don't think that's his choice to have necessarily to come out. I mean, I think that's the The observed of name made him come out again. Don't you think?.
