Impact Learning with Jared Magee

"The school we've rebranded as impact learning. I would love to hear about impact learning so the impact then is we. We basically take in some of this exciting stuff that we do and rolled a lot of into several of our dynamic programs together and so we clearly. You recognize that one's high school education is going to have a pretty decent impact on them right. And we're hoping that we can through impact learning this sort of Attempt at dynamism make it even more again personalized and something that a kid can feel great about and so if the learning is interesting to that student research shows that they'll learn retain more if they believe in what's what they're learning is really important to them in their future research shows they'll learn and retain more and we also and the research that we've seen says that if you do something rather than just listening or watching and being passive it you'll you'll learn and retain more so impact. Learning is is a combination of two or three programs. We've had in the past. One is our co lab program that is short for collaborative learning. We type it out really funky. Because it's a mash up of two words. Co lab is collaborative laboratory. Yes just so for those of you. Who are listening at home. Sure you are. It's capital c. o. L. and then lab in in the middle of that is all caps and then thank you so much for that. I appreciate that. It is a little confusing. When i say at allowed right but it's right it's a it's a cool idea when you see it. The visual of it is very telling about whether it's all about so in that way. Tell us what it's all about sure. Well the concept is for these courses the miniature courses and they've had lived many different lives have been reincarnated time and time again but the brass tacks are that it's interdisciplinary utterly immersive in utterly collaborative between a group of students and their instructor essentially well before cova came. And reinvented the world. It was very much field-based just constantly in the field trying to certainly emphasize fundamental skills and habits mind but also helping students delve into interests or cultivate passions. You know explore those curiosities and make sure that is a passion that they want to cultivate an in that you know. Of course you try to touch on character and risk taking and persistent all that good stuff but you know time and time again we tell the story in in our co labs we also have it as part of our collaborative program internships and independent projects. So a student can be a little bit more independent in that that reach other than the faculty led stuff and one good example of of what we're talking about when we mean cultivating that curiosity and insuring. It really is something passion that you want to move ever forward with is we had one young lady. We arranged for her helped her get an internship at a local hospital and they were there. Were a great partner hospital there in gardner massachusetts and she went in and saw some blood drawn day one of her of her nursing ship or sort of pre nursing internship. Pass right out out out right. And here's this girl. Her entire college search her entire high school trajectory had been aimed at med school. And all of her. She's a senior oliver schools. That she's looking at our nursing schools in one day of hat program like the actual practical application of that in. Just you know seeing if this curiosity really truly is something. She wants to cultivate into a passion. She pursues she very quickly. Sort of took a left turn and decided. Maybe this isn't for me. No and it's so much better to do with hat when you're in high school and there's still plenty

And you have the most delicious pudding the caramel or or salted caramel whatever. It was and the banana flavor. Were out of this world. It was like heaven heaven in a little glass bowl and all the other children in the eighties. Were were eating that but the best of all legs gentlemen. Let me introduce you to via natta. We've creamy vanilla ice cream and let it melted a little bit because you don't want to completely frozen and it was absolutely delicious and some of the people on twitter would say in celebration also the vetter always sought the annetta. Look like cuttlefish vice versa. thursday night always shopping night. Vinet gone by eight o'clock It was supposed to lost to wake lived on these during three power cut. Three power cuts. We just left them outside the floor out. Veneta was only served in a sunday dinner. it was a classier ice cream any other night. It was the awful vanilla from the plastic tub and a mate with trying to impress a girl invited around for a meal border veneta for pudding but left it in his bag and it started to melt. He genuinely believed that if he stuck it in the freezer reconfigure and it did not Every time we went to my aunt betty's it was the pudding choice then at a hands down hands up everybody who spent ages trying to cut through the bottom layer frozen chocolate before realizing it was the brown plastic tray. The inauguration inspires more art

"Sure. But artists also played a big role as you might have heard. Earlier in the show. We got to see Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez perform. There was an art installation at the National Mall. But outside of Washington, one particular piece of art really struck us. Hoarsely. Allah Barriers is a poet from Chicago. He often writes about his identity as a Mexican American from a mixed status family, And this week he was commissioned to write a new poem. It's called the People's Inauguration. It's your part of it. So let our imagination be as expensive as our love These In the beginning, there were no police until someone imagined them. So let's imagine the end of policing. Imagine medicine for the sick. Imagine bread for the hungry and don't stop imagining and struggling until we have a country worthy of inauguration. Jose Olivera is reading some of his poems, the people's inauguration. Put the olive areas as poem was commissioned by a U. S non profit called the Center for Cultural Power. And for more Jose's on with me on the line on Zoom from Jersey. Hi, Jose. How are you? I'm good. How are you, Tom? Powerful poem. Thank you. How are you doing? It's been ages since we talked. How you holding up? I'm holding up, Okay. All things considered, you know, the most important thing is everyone's been able to stay safe. So I feel really lucky and grateful for that. Well, we're lucky and grateful to have yet In the end that poem, which is which is beautiful in we're gonna get some poetry from your later You refer to a country worthy of inauguration. When you were watching the inauguration. Were you in any way confident that this new president might be able to steer the ship in that direction? I'm hopeful that at the very least we won't Live under the constant kind of terror and anxiety of the last administration, where we just, you know, would wake up to news that there was you know the Muslim bin and then the next day, there was another catastrophe. And so it feels like At the very least, it won't be four years of one catastrophe after the next I feel a little bit less a little more hesitant, saying anything more than that, because I think there's this idea that a return to normalcy is good enough. But normalcy was not good enough. Normalcy still meant that a lot of people were living. We're still suffering. So for me, we have to do better than just getting back to the way it was before Donald Trump one of the most beautiful moments of the inauguration, Certainly one of the most standout moments was from the poet Amanda Gorman. 22 years old youth poet laureate. I can see you getting excited as I talk about this. She brought the house down housing significant Was it for you to see poetry used like this. It was so powerful and so great. You know, Amanda is like you said, 22 years old to see a young person. Given that opportunity to shine, I think just goes to show You know how many talented poets there are in that young people when given the opportunity can really rise to the moment. So I was really happy to see a man that just absolutely crushed it on that stage and as a poet yourself, it must have been so exciting that all these songs did very well. But it was a poem, a poem that reached so many people that made such an impact. Absolutely, And the poem was so musical. I mean, you could hear the rhyme scheme and the different rhythms that Amanda incorporated. My favorite moment is she has a line that said, You know something along the lines of harm for none and harmony for all that little flip is just so beautiful and I think worthy of what of what we want and what we're trying to build. Well, I'm excited to listen to some poetry from you as well. You're going to read from his later on,

You'd have to come accustomed to you have to in order to get you know we all see that the person that you can get to a needed to achieve household, affect them and domino effect the butterfly effect to the people they love and they life for the rest of their life cut trauma will affect them is deep when it come telling us deeply depends on observer and I'll open mind their their minders. Part of the reason why I also wanted to make this interview happen with you ineffective to jail because at this thing that a lot of times people they look at, Oh, he's imprisoned. Just for your listeners just sometimes. I've learnt. Not, to judge people in China. You. And that's helped me a large. And I feel the same way you know I don't judge people because we all fighting the battle ain't. No one else knows. You might know you might not know. "Christianity was all about not knowing how that were flesh out, but I knew who came and got me, and I knew who healed me. And I, knew set me free, but what I did not know is how do I delivered that to others in such a way where they understand their faith, and so my foundation was as such that they gave me Christ that they could not give me a reason to defend why crash so bet set on a path of being this now? apologists one who defends the face. And I also teach others how to defend Christianity from a biblical perspective, and so that now shates mile world, so let's talk about your book. You are the author of four books. Tell us about the books. The first book I wrote out was working in a salon working inherit placement for a company and we did not have a supervisor. We were just working trying to make things happen and we didn't have a supervisor. The Lord beginning show me in scripture that the did not have a supervisor psalms. Proverbs six says take a lesson from the end you lazy bones learn from their ways and be wide, though they have no prince or governor ruler to make them work. They Labor hard all summer gathering food for the winter, so I began to study the proverb of like a little bit before that time, so out of that emerged my first book that I wrote in Twenty, sixteen, six highly successful habits of the AD. Arming Yourself Against Laziness, and this was this came out of an understanding that ants don't need anybody to tell them to be great. They don't need anybody to tell them to save money. They don't need anybody to tell them be a team. So this first full six, highly successful habits of was berthed at a bad experience and the second book that I wrote was the Apostle Paul Transformational leadership ancient. For today's leader I wrote this. When I was taking a class on transformational leadership. M, my professor at. What is called a culminating paper? I was supposed to take five six months to write it and I wrote it in less than three months and my professor on the phone. I attend a region university in my professors. They know is my work. They don't know me. They don't know what I'd do. They just know and I go to school online, so they just know my work. So he called me on the phone and he said I. Don't know what you do, but this to be Set me on to publish this puzzle. Paul Transformational leave now while I was at finished apostle Paul I had also gotten a lot of done a lot of research on self leadership at communication given that my master's again in organizational leadership, so what I did was took some concepts for the third book six highly successful habits of at two point. Point Oh, self, leadership and communication I, wrote the first one in twenty fourteen, and so by the time I started, doing research found out that these organizations are teaching the same thing that we have in biblical Prince..

"I have adored by this time I It had my daughter and she was a few months ago. Uneven apartment at me somewhere states a perfectly just had one to open up so I moved out move there, but I was determined to get back at him so what I said. said to myself, I said if the next guy whoever the next guy speaks to me, say hello to me. I'M GONNA. Invite him in so the concept of that my mind was hey, in order for you to get over another guy. You've got to replace in with another guy now. The only problem with that is that you're gonNA. Always be replacing men. If, it's always about okay. He hurt you. Get another one here. You get a number one. So I'm by this man into my life with my one year old daughter and I know that he was not only matter of fact. He had a beer in his hand when he said. Are you doing? Out Kim GonNA so some callaway. He ended up moving in with me so here now I'm Sango with this baby now with a guy living with me on while I was on section eight. So it's just it got worse and worse so I want at said I've got to get back to church so I. Tell Him Hey got a break up with you. I gotta get back into my relationship with God in going back to Chirp he's going with you. He goes to church and he joins that church before I did, and I'm looking like he's like. See I'm saying now. We can get married so I felt pressured to marry is. So I did because I I didn't want this. Look that I had OC. She's a single. Parent she's a single mother. Judgment Judgment. judgment I just did not want that staple. If anyone that stigma on me, so I married him, so at least persona would look good when we go to church when we pull up in this raggedy BMW the credit card that I've gotten from. macy's known in the world how they would send. It was rich time credit card to the project a sent to me with this suit on looking good. But you know broken. So you know? I knew that I wasn't supposed to marry him but I. Did because I didn't want this stigma wanted to least look like wasn't a single payer and my sister spent the night with us. In the morning, we woke up in. She said that he molested. He denied it he. He denied. So. The man who you brought into your life when your daughter was a year old married follows you to church wanted to. Continue the relationship turns around and molester sister will it gets worse. It gets worse. Yes, he enlisted my sister and my sister would not comeback over. He says I didn't do it I. Don't know why she's lying. So by this time I'm pregnant with my daughter by him now that pregnancy didn't have because of I wanted it. What happened was I moved out the bedroom after that I still did not know at I ended up moving into another place. Much nicer place, so I really didn't know how to get rid of him. So I moved into the bedroom I was working two part time jobs. And then also I was doing hair and I fell asleep and some kind of way I was a very tired because I worked two three two part time jobs, and then I also did hair on the weekend. And I would stay up doing hair like almost twelve to fourteen hours, so I fell asleep and he he. He's some kind of way manipulated me..

Go check my bathrooms. Go check my path so I go and check the bathroom clean Emma. Need you to check my dining areas acclaimed my tables, and by bet at the bat as a new I. Didn't WanNa work at McDonald's so I kind of told her that Monique quit. Thank you for the opportunities. So I immediately quit after she chooses looking at me like I was crazy, but I knew I didn't want to do that. So a friend of mine called me and said Hey. They have a two. Two for one at the college. "So why are we living in the project? So later on? We will learn that. All of her money was going to church, but she still refused to accept food stamps like I said. Said with that. She was kind of forced into that situation we were in my stepfather was a fireman, so he worked, and she worked, plus they had this check so I remember a stain in a wonderful house in the suburbs with bananas, growing in the backyard 'til we were in the projects with you know rats I'm like. Has This happened? So it happened because she you know. She did not value money as much as she. She, but as far as a woman that was that was determined that her children. Would you know not circum- to that environment? She was that she made a mom as cheech. If you were down somewhere at Johnny's house, and you had no business being at Johnny's house. She's knocking on the door. She's Janis. Damato Johnny old and she's go snatch you buy your Kala and drag you back home if she had to that old school. Love it. So maybe your mom probably had the philosophy that the more you give, the more you receive, and you know maybe her hope for all of you as you stated, was just her. Being determined that you guys are GonNa. Make it and be successful and in her giving, she receives well. I explained to her actually a couple of months ago. She was kind of apologizing for not knowing and I'm like mom. You don't have to apologize for that. No first of all. You were like twenty something who knows anything? But they. Didn't well she. She had almost eight kids by the time she was thirty, so I'm just wondering why you still have your mind. I had new kids an called. Can you explain to me you did this? So but I sit the most important thing that you could have given us is Jesus, and so I believe her life is prosperous now. My mom is strong. You know long before Kobe buyers and I must say this covid nineteen. Nineteen. My mom was wearing masks. My Mom will sit in the church for sit in the bacne. She didn't want anybody off. And this has been over like ten years and we laughed at her. WHO's like? She wore masks graduations. We just called her job just being phobic mom, and but the even with with us living in the projects. We still had a clean house. She demanded it so so my mom is a strong woman physically. Mentally emotionally and absolutely spiritual, and so I have no regrets from that because that gave me the to nasty to do what I do today. Wow, absolutely am other strong. Absolutely you know. I also wonder you let me know did her mother I would assume that her mother was alive during the Spanish flu epidemic and I wonder you know, does she ever or has she ever said anything about that?.

"I'm just consistently overwhelmed at the good that comes out of it with the go fund news that people are doing breaking styles of dollars from people. Don't you know I mean obviously? Don't give a lot if you if you don't have it but people are able to raise a lot of money even in this uncertain time why because people are still striving for good amidst the Bat. And it's really incredible time. You know just prayed that we all come through the situation as best as we can. It's really a difficult time that we don't forget what this experience has taught us either about humanity. Absolutely we are all we have. It's about people helping people and if that stops when trouble yeah true true. Everyone has a part to play completely. All right we'll switching gears. Let's talk about help ruthless. I love your work when replace my friends and I watched the show so wonderful to the aided role as Halley Well it was a surprise. I was just talking to an actor civil actor friends of mine and we were kind of commiserating that everybody. It seems like everybody. Who gets you know that dream job that dream gag that booking where you quote unquote you made it? You know which is serious. Regular is a top of all of our electrical lists So it definitely was surprise but we were commiserating that it seemed like the story behind it as always. I was ready to quit acting. Oh I was just about to quit. And then he came in and all of us are like We wanted to quit like ten million. I mean we didn't book a series regular and it's funny because that was my story to on this one but what we realized is it's because those people got back up. It's not that that was the first time and same with me when I book. It wasn't the first time I had decided or said to myself. No I can't do this anymore. I'm done. This is too challenging. I need to. I have a masters but I said I'm going to go back to school. Get something else that's GonNa make me some. I mean Because of a masters in acting but it just had to do with it just happened to be that time that I said that as opposed to the previous times and the great thing is that I have had those moments and I wasn't that place to where I was very frustrated with my career and that there's a great time span and I don't think actors realized that when we first come into acting that there's these massive gaps between booking right and so you can't base your success in this career off of if you book if you don't book because there's a ton of factors involved so I think the success can be based off of the maintaining relationships as in casting directors calling you back which is what happened with Tyler. Perry so I know the roundabout way but definitely wanted to talk about that. Because I know a lot of actor when they hear people say oh I was at the end of my rope It can be sometimes depressing because they feel like then. Why was it successful for them? But I'm at the end of my rope. It's not successful for me. I believe they were at the end of the roof multiple times that they just decided in some way some how they were going to keep moving keep moving and then eventually Whether they were burned out at the end or eventually whether they were excited at the end Bloomberg care came that opportunity. It was just that they stayed at it with it so I had been auditioning for can Coleman's office UTHA casting director for Tyler. Perry out here in La and he you know him he writes. He's known for work in such a short amount of time so he had several pilots being taxed at the same time and I got called in for one of them for sisters. Actually I got called in for one of the leasing sisters and got a call back and got you know he by the to Atlanta. It's an incredible experience and I came back and heard nothing and that was like the third audition I had done in Coleman's office which again is why those relationships are important. You know Because she kept bringing me back in and then just a week later after I saw that this is this cast and things seem to be like just plugging along with the oval and everything. Well I got a call in for tally. She was a re release of a role and I went in and I. I shouldn't just like every other decision and I love and then two days later I got the phone call agent. Hey they want you to come to Atlanta on Monday. They're going to start filming the oval and I was I was completely floored. Now this is my. This wasn't the series regular. This was a recurring so You know they come in different here. There's regular being the top top. You know but recurring was still my first ever recurring. So yeah I was. I was blown away off of this recurring role but the thing that was crazy about it and this is just I feel the grace of God in my life and what he had. I truly believe what's reused for you and that everybody has their own path as far as Things that everybody has their own journey. And it's GonNa look different but it's GonNa be incredible no matter what so book that I did. My episode eight episodes spend oval as Kali character. And at the end. I am a big. Thank you card person. So I gave Tyler. Perry thank you card. Also he is like always running running running so you got to you. Can't you're not going to necessarily get a second to talk to him so I wrote it down and I said thank you. Today's my day and he shook my hand and he said Oh. But it won't be your last time on that we're going to bring you back and that to me. La- well Mine yes mind. Loan and little. Did I know that he had this other series in his mind again? The man works just. He's a genius. He's really a genius. How he can do all these things at once but he had ruthless already in his mind and so when he created it. He brought me my character. Tally and roof over and did a spinoff series of the overall with as you know now ruthless and my recurring dot transferred right into a series regular. There's nothing but the grace of God like I can't orchestrated account planet is just favor. It was just a massive blessing. A massive blessing. So that's why I feel so like it's so necessary to tell my story because the only reason I would. I was even able to make it to those auditions at that time. Because I failed myself up on those moments when I was done with podcast. Like you're hearing other people make it because everybody has a diversity of different kinds in whatever field going through the bottom line is. Are you going to keep pushing because you have to just believe got? The blessing is on. Its way that lesson is on. Its way it's GonNa get there just beef as coal and it will arrive and it'll be great it will be beyond your wildest dream. Yeah you are basically making history with tyler. Perry being a part of what he's doing. This is the first ever series on the beach. Plus clock on me ask. This is the first original series on bt pluses popcorn so that when you said it was like Lord History. It is show is on hiatus until four thirty. We cannot wait we need to know. The show is absolutely crazy crazy. Yes I know so many people are asking. When does it does it? Come out and we're asking too because we didn't we haven't seen the edited version of it. So we watch the same time you guys watch. So we're anxious to for the thirtieth day here so we can you know what's GonNa Happen Next? He was going to happen with everybody next so and yeah I think the biggest question that everyone has you know they wanna know how it all ties because most people questions asked okay. Well tally that shot on than when will she gets shot Michelle. Everybody's trying to connect the dots. Everyone is trying to connect the dots. I'm like you have to keep watching. You have to. Trust Tyler. Perry's mind it's exciting. He is just. It's a gift and I think I'm just. I'm just grateful her him on speaking along the of people who have really sought after their purpose like I think. That's why I'm so excited for your podcast. Because Tyler Perry had so many dreams connected his you know what I mean like just this year alone. Five hundred thousand people were able to work through his studio. Five hundred thousand employees went through that gate. So that's just this year and he's been doing this for how long and how long if you're gonNA continue so I always have to think on that if I'm basing difficulty or if I'm in challenge how many people's dreams are attached to nine. And how selfish would it be of me to just give up knowing what I know about tyler that he was homeless in his car and kept pushing to get to where he is now to give us all these opportunities you know so being just there is an inspiration on its own just in the facility just the whole studio is an expiration all on its own well thank God. You have been given this wonderful incredible opportunity. You are definitely a superstar after that. No you need to call my mom and he will let us know she's not yet. Yeah Yeah Blonde Maistre. We're humble and kind of bottom line. No matter how many screens get on because it is the goal right the same Mix for a wonderful platform to do good. So I'm not denying it. "In order to see reality because what's going on in the house. Yes is real. Yes it's happening but your true reality is not that of truly -ality that a life still was love and joy. That's what God has for. You Guy says that he knows the thoughts that he thinks the war you peace love hope and prosperity not thoughts of abuse. And I'm going to beat you up every day. That's not what Gosh as for. And that's not how life is supposed to be designed but you don't know that until you see it for yourself and as we teach our children we teach our doors. We teach our son how to treat people in it. That's why use the work bullying earlier. My husband abuser was a bully. When did the bullying start bullying start when he was a kid or did the bullying start when he became an adult her being beaten there? You go there you go. So there are some form of healing. That's necessary for both the abuser and the abuse. Yeah wow what a what a story you have. I wonder You know was he. Abusive Torture Son was not in my son loved him so and I've asked. "Tyler High Samaya. How hello so you know. I know you have teenage daughter. Who is approaching the talk? Where correct correct and you guys are officially starting the College Tour Process. Tell me how that's going. We are so for the most part has stayed on the East Coast that we visited schools in New York. You see couple of Ivy League another stretch. You're considering a couple of Ivy Leagues and then on. Monday is our first time headed down south. So we'll be going to Atlanta on Monday. And while we were there visiting emory and then also without men. So she's excited. I'm excited it's a new venture for the both of us. We'll move awesome school. I know back in the day I wanted to go to spelman. I do remember my college tour there as well. So wow we love to her. Well let's talk about how you are a Pennsylvania license rules are what made you go into real estate. So I'll kind of start my story at my entire career pass and really you know my vision and how I got here so for me. You know gone up my parents so both of my parents neither of them graduated from High School and I just noticed the struggle you know as a result that they went through right with getting jobs I mean we both went to trade eventually but still the jobs that they had weren't high pain. Remember life bringing the conversation back to college when I fly to trial it. You know you gotta be transparent you gotta put your your parents financial information to get financial aid and I remember putting their income. My Dad had just passed and I put my mom's income and I remember thinking like wow like how does she. How is she making the offer list? And so you know not knowing much at that age. I told myself I was like you know what some one day I'm. I'm just going to create a path to make six years. I don't know how long it there but I gotta hit a hundred thousand dollars and so again not really having a right. I just knew that with my goal so when I went to college I said okay. What do I do for me and high school was always Mary Strong Science so I started? That was a biology major. Hated it. I always Kim physics. It was way too much talent science at one. And so you know this was the early. This is late nineties when I was in college and so I went to my counselor and I'm like you know what I I can't do the science major anymore but I don't WanNa lose all credits that I had. I think it was a sophomore at that point. And so what? Major can switch to where 'cause they'll make a decent living but still classes so computer science was his recommendation and this is the time when we were all talking about like the tech. Boom and technology was really emerging at that time. So it's like okay great. I'll I'll be a computer. Science major ended up hating that too but I did learn. I learned to program I can say I went to a predominantly white university. So for me. I had a lot to prove because my class is not only just in the university computer science major. I would only black female you know in my classes and so I always felt like a head. Something's approved I have to stick with this major. No matter no matter how much I hated it I had to stick it out so ultimately graduated with my degree defiance and then I was like okay what next do I do but again holding onto the global that financially I wanted to be stable and I remember what my parents went through and when I go to college the numbers that I saw when I put in financial aid application and so throughout my career. Truthfully it's been a lot of learning. I've always had great mentors and I've always. I've always taken chances right so I was never afraid to which Ajab Pie for something new even if on paper I mean I have been qualified and never let that stop me and eventually I found something that works for me. Which was it but working in project management. It just naturally fit my personality but after during that. So I'm coming up on my ninth year that I did. I did that and I felt like you know. It's a chance for me to kind of step away from working in corporate. I climbed that ladder. I got to the six figures which with my goal but once I got there it was like a really. This is not even. This isn't much right. There isn't a lot when you're here. You think it is. I got their financially and then I'm like you know what I don't want to be a part of corporate anymore. I want to work for myself. I WANNA earn six figures and earn even more but I WANNA be my own boss and so that's how this transition to being a realtor team about. I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready to take ownership of what I do. I want to work for myself and I'm going to have a kid going off to college. It's really the time to focus on me and building in career that I want definitely and I feel I don't know a lot about real estate per se but I feel like you can make this however you want to make it to be. You know there's so much creativity in earn your money. You know with Ways to I guess expand. I Dunno expand the market. That you WANNA serve. You know there are way too niche a certain aspects of real estate their way to do that they are so a lot of people are Mitch. Realtors so you have people who focus only on luxury right so there are people who have a certain dollar amount. Is there an area and types of property and that's their niche the only service customer? And that isn't it. And then you have some realtors who are highly aligned with investor right so investors are buying properties within in selling and a lot of religious realtor's also finally earn passive income. So that's another thing that I'm interested as well. We're building my own portfolio properties. So another reason I got real estate. Because I'M GOING TO START. Buying Properties owned or to sell and flip this well but there are so many different things you can do in real estate in there because there are so many connections right there are connections with people who provided inspections their connections with all the other vendors that you property insurance all those other connections that you have there are different directions you can go in as a realtor if you truly have an interest in that niche stay competitive with the market appearing saturated with real estate agents. You know so how do you how do you stay competitive? That Way. There are thousands of realtors. But there's one tonight you so for me to stay competitive. I truly up myself and as much as I don't like that's what I learned for because a little bit in my career actually get stale and then never saw myself is deal. I When I was in his job I was the youngest person and their job and I looked nothing like anyone else in the office but I did the best and the reason the reason that I did the best. It's because I didn't it out this issue I am. People are buying from me as a person is not the product. It's me so I figured out how to connect with people. I figured out how to be authentic people realize that this person is trying to sell me. This is who she is and people really by from the person. So that's how I approach being a realtor. I show up extra night here and we build a relationship and you decide whether or not you WanNa work with me if it's just if you want someone who truly connects with. Then it's me that you're GONNA YOU'RE GONNA partner with you know in his day change where we talk about. Real miss. You know. I feel like it's pretty hard to come by. You know for the most part if people real. They're real if they're fake. They're fake but learning to connect to other people would be one tip that you offer as advice to others one how to connect with other people for me. It's not I don't write to connect what I try to make sure that I'm doing right now. On degrees mind if someone comes to manny thinking on looking at work with a realtor. If I'M NOT FIT I don't try to position myself could be a bit. I truly show them who I am. What I'm capable of doing and what I would you for them. And then if it's if it's an organic natural connection it will be if it's not then then it won't right so connection isn't something you can force it. It has to happen actually. And the way you allow that to make sure that you're showing up as you are interacting. And so that's why I try to make sure I do and I love people who could have been potential clients but I know I don't necessarily have what I need to service them and I'll be honest about that and that's okay because they're always be someone else behind them right so so that's how I do it. Yeah and it definitely makes you expert etre crafts knowing your own limitations on what you can and can't do makes the people who you do serve even more happy and they will refer clients to use. Us pretty awesome is there. You know you shared what you're looking to do in terms of expanding in real estate. Is there any other ventures are interested in for now? It's just a real estate? I've always said I wanted to. When I was a project museum. Consider it may be teach you know people entry level and if you WANNA come on join project management how to do it so now. It's a realtor. I'm thinking at some point. I may end up teaching. It will be years from now but there may be an opportunity for me to teach and real estate as well. I I think I I WANNA get the in year right. I WANNA have my own. We're folio but then I'm always that kind of personal. I WanNa hear what I what I've learned with other. I think that's our responsibility to do that. You know what I learned is not just for me but there are other people can use it as well and go just as far if not farther so that that's something that's my horizon eventually visit with which they've I should give you daughter and other young people going off to college and pursuing a career path. What's what's the one piece of advice that you think you have to offer them? That would help. I always tell young people and this is what I told my daughter. You don't have to start off knowing exactly what you want to do. And I in fact I would. I would recommend that you not have this narrow focus and say this is the career path. I want someone like me. I've been through multiple career paths right and and so I I say college is your can't explore cake classes. Take things take classes for Were things that are interesting. You right hold on one of those interests because the things that you're kind of a natural you gravitate to those are your passion and embrace them. Don't just say you know I'm GonNa do this career because I go through a lot of money because it doesn't matter how much money you make if you're miserable you're happy you know whereas only say explore sugar out. What were you feel naturally the fit for you and then personally? Don't go when thinking you have all the answers you don't have to at this age. This is your age to experiment explore and figure it out. Yeah you sound device well tonight and where do people reach you is? They're interested in having rules or to help them buy 'em on instagram and facebook. So I'M GONNA spell my name because it always trip people up. There are some double letters. And they're showing. My first name is spelled S. A. N. I Y Y eight and so my instagram is to Niagara Underscore real estate again. This S. A. N. I Y Y eight underscore real estate also. Send me an email available for any questions. So that will be Nyah DOT Tyler at K. W. dot com. You have any questions right. I'm right so tonight.
