"Up Kenny cold, not a cold. Even Eric DeCosta, the general manager of the Baltimore Ravens, says he will try to get a deal done with the Mark Jackson this offseason. Lamar and I have had a couple talks. We did spend some time together a few weeks ago. Then that went really well. We haven't really gotten into the actual contract proposals negotiations, things like that. It was more of a general conversation. About a lot of different things. The team, the more you know just how we were going to go about in negotiation, like there was definitely some different moving parts that make this Different than a lot of other negotiations we've done. So, um, I think from our perspective, it hasn't changed from what I said post season, which is Lamar's there really important part of the team. He's a leader. He's an outstanding player. He's a foundational type of guy for this organization. I really think he loves the organization. I think he's very appreciative of the organization and in our stance and different things. And we're confident and committed to try to get a long term deal done, and hopefully we can get that done at some point, you know, in the near future, you may take a little time, but we're willing to try. You know what that sounds like to May. That's Eric DeCosta basically saying, we love Labarre. We don't want to go anywhere, but he loves the organization. He appreciates the organization. Take a pay cut. Take a pay cut. Take a pay cut. That's what it seemed exact. Acosta was imploring the least the tone that I got Lamar Jackson to do. So you may want to get a deal done now, because the rate for quarterbacks only gonna keep on going through the roof. Jack just got four years $160 Million without winning M V P Like Lamar Jackson has already won. So my question Eric DeCosta. You got to get a deal done this offseason got a little bit of the answers. But how about Dak Prescott contract. Will that affect the negotiations for Lamar Jackson? I don't think so. Every negotiations different every player's different. Every GM is different, and we have a strategy and we have a relationship. That doesn't really affect me. Lamar's play three years and you know what? He's a good player. We feel really good about him. I think he feels really good about us. And it's up to us to get a deal done..

He looked like He was 80 years old. I'm sure tough. What attacks were talking about your go said about they had cigarette ass trays welded onto the lockers right out loud. Let's go to JD and Dallas. What's up? J. D. Hey, what's happening, guys? Or you made about it? Hey, man, I think this press conference was beyond bad. I think it was classic. I mean, when you have them out there saying we've gotten the QB situation Have we gotten a QB situation, right? No. Have we wanted enough games? No. Everything else is there. They put it all on Tra vis key. But mad You took the credit but your biscuit when he was playing well when he said, See, I told you what happened when you trust yourself for biscuits not responsible for developing player. He's not responsible for Eddie Jackson, not tackling the guy throwing punches. He's not responsible, taken a year and a half to find out. Montgomery can run the ball. It's you know, it's like naggy. Maggie took Robiskie, a guy who played 13 games in college and pair them with the cultures who called four games. The office of coordinator and we want to put this all on service Key. I mean, I'm not saying service gives Lamar Jackson but Labarre Jackson is not a M V P quarterback their offices system has made him made him that They want a playoff game with Jackson thought for 190 yards with no touchdowns and one intercept. They're adaptable. You can't and you can't get me through on the three points. In this game with this team. I mean, that's a joke. They're complete joke and they're beyond their beyond back there. Just at the point. Where did this classroom change? Fair enough. Good point. Thank you. Yeah. I mean, you know, they found Greg Roman has found a way quite brilliantly, too. Utilize the strength, I suppose and do what they do best on they run the ball up, but they still can score a lot. You know they might do it slightly different than most modern NFL teams. But Even though there are run heavy offense, they score a lot. I mean, I want to say Baltimore. Still what seventh in the league, I think in scoring. Thanks. So seven. I think we certainly in the top 10. Well, they had the highest point differential that they had the highest differential. That's right, and I mean, they can really put points on the board and score they they can score 28 again. At what point Don't we realize when a team wins? The quarterback is going to get all the credit When a team loses, it's going to get the blame. It's an inordinate amount of credit when they win. It's an inordinate amount of blame when they lose, but that's the way it is. I know we we broke on that last little bit piece of news there. But Rob Sala left the Jets building without without a contract, which I believe is Very foolish, and he is now taking the 90th minute ride down to Philly to meet with some sure Jeffrey Lori, and you know how we Roseman and the Eagles. I know he's going to I'm always gonna be with. I do know he's meeting with the Eagles. Um, before we get into Steve Sarkeesian, who had a very interesting press, Speaking of press conferences and hirings, very interesting press conference. Yesterday out of the oven AUSTIN, Texas Which of the two job now somebody else could still jump in? I mean, five other jobs besides the Jets and the Eagles, but off the two given both sets of circumstances, you know him intimately, well back and forth. Which is the more appealing job for you right now for you mean the between Philly and the Jets. Probably Philly because Yeah, just because it's they have the most recent championship. What does that do for carob though, Rob Salon? Nothing, but they have a have a fantastic fan base. Not the Jets. Don't away If I don't hold on, I'll take that one personally, But E j. Me, e don't know, E don't know the don't know if the Eagles fans are rooting for their team to lose the last couple of the you know, weeks They've done worse. Anyway. At least, I think I think ownership is it is better that I agree with me that I'm a big fan of Jeffrey Lori ever since my playing days, and when I retired, and he was there at the press conference, based on my last game was against the Eagles. For those who don't know Jeffrey. Lori came in and, you know, said something. It was my last press conference. I have a lot of e. I don't even remember that. I don't know. You said that on this show what happened again? So you remember my last year by new hundreds, Of course. Yeah, So my last game was against the Philadelphia Eagles know that wild card around and just kind of parallel. Remember getting up there talking about my first game was also against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was in giant stadium, though. And Jeffrey. Lori got up and you know you spoke a little bit about me and my career is just fine. So it's great having affinity for very nice, But I also know that they run that organization. Really well, radio. Historically, they have, um I think I mean, I hate to say it because you really want the best opportunity for you. But it's hard to ignore that fact. You know what I mean? Like it starts with the top down. And I've told you the story about LaVar Arrington difference between the Washington football team now with Washington football team and the Giants. He was that both, he said, You could feel the difference between ownership. At the Washington and it New York and in New York. It was It was just like you're on a different, you know, stratosphere as far as accountability and you know the processes of going through. You know what it takes to win and lose. And I think that's a big part of hiring a coach at least when the coach has options like Rob Salah. Yeah, Sala high say so are so it's a lot. It's either Rob so sorry by her boomer in jail. They they have no idea. I think it's Sala. I believe it's Sala or Sola. I believe when you say he's um Lebanese, he's Lebanese descent. I believe it's accepted both ways. Salah And Sala. Yeah, but that that those of the to think that I think the latter is the one that he did that I've heard most. Sela. Okay, but whatever it is, but he has options. So when you have interviewed with five of the seven teams, that's exactly right. Which is crazy. But if you have options, you're gonna pick the best one organizational. Yeah, Well, listen, if it comes down to ownership, then the Jets have no chance of that Rob because Christopher Johnson's lost and Who knows what the world would you I don't even think would he has deluded was but tweet. I thought he was back though I thought he didn't come. I don't think he came back yet. I know Christopher Johnson is the one who met with with rob today with, you know, and they need to get a contract. Whatever. But I was thinking about, you know, you and I get you when you evaluate a job you've got in anything. You've got to look at. How's the company? Run? How's the team run? It's the other stuff. And maybe this is just my fandom tricking me, But I believe unless you unless you are fully convinced if you're rob that Carson Wentz we could. This is not a rehabilitation, that young man still a stud. We'll get him going. Then you have ownership. You have a guy who could win the M V P. That's no brainer. But you look at salary cap hell and aging roster. That's kind of where maybe I thought That's Philly. I thought maybe the Jets might be more appealing, but we'll say he's gone. Would've filled and that's a smart move by the Eagles. We'll see what happens with that. All right. So Steve Sarkisian, the good news is good news is right away..

Why are you guys having so I was just told to detail about this down the line. Why you guys having such a rough time interpreting what he said? Because it doesn't make it doesn't make sense goes way should play it because people won't know what we're talking about. We'll get toe. What we did to start with, but this is bothering me. Okay? You tell Jeffrey Lori talking after the firing of Doug Peterson. I guess trying to explain what went into the decision. Here we go. I would say strategic mistakes. They were made in the name of China. Hold the band together. Kind of bring back the band together. There was a lot of short term decision making an allocation of resource is that gave us probably a slightly better chance to go back to the Super Bowl in 2018 and 2019. Okay, waiting for like, What's next? What personal things that tops first. Like, I think whoever cut the cut Cut out the rest of his sentence. Yeah, because that's what I'm waiting for. I don't think that's how we ended it. I think what it said was and as I I did do was he probably said something like Personal. What he's saying is we try to run it back once more probably took some chances. We shouldn't say we shouldn't have taken In hindsight, we got burned, and I think he was getting prepared to say based on what we did. It gave us a better bridge, theoretically, to win another Super Bowl than 2018 and 24 19. But here we are. It didn't work out and we were four wins, and we got a new coach coming. Yeah, that's what he's saying. It's still It's still very complicated way of saying Doug Peterson screwed up and he mismanaged how He coached and handled the Carson Wentz to jail. It hurts situation and had horrible optics in week 17 the regular season and therefore we had to move on from that. That's what he should have said Well speaking by the way, and we'll definitely get to this coming up A little later. Speed of Jalen Hurts. We got a busy show that Irving stuff really is is getting it's getting Is getting worse or it's just beginning. Well, let's let's clear a Z Every day goes on. He's not playing the next couple of games ruled out, at least for the next basically half a week or so. So what morphed into the eyes of some one game at just not being mentally ready to play? Is now I should say, morphing into something much bigger and you know, and now there's video surfacing. Apparently, coverage was out having a good time. Granted, it was his family, but he was still there. Now there's the issue of when he comes back. If he comes back, I'm not so sure he's gonna ever play again. I don't know. I'm starting to think that BT, but if he ever comes back now you have to wonder about Based on the NBA's protocol. How much longer will he had to sit out the Nets and and all the while their general manager haven't heard A peep from who I think is a really good early young GM. I think Sean marks done a nice job. Distinguishing himself. But the Mets are a train wreck right now, and we'll get to them later. The game last night. Um, you know, take the way it went down with with sermon getting hurt right away. One carry done better, And I know his replacement actually played pretty well, but that changed a lot of their dynamic. We talked about Justin Fields having to be great. Yet When he overshot somebody in the may have been a loving I forget it was in the quarter of the end zone. Which the past you simply have to connect on the throat out of bounds. The next play through it into traffic and was picked off. He didn't play terrible, certainly didn't play very well. Bottom line is this Alabama's machine if they play 10 times, and both teams are totally healthy. Believe Obama's gonna win eight. Maybe they went nine on down Ohio State's a power program themselves. That's just how good that Alabama is. Look, this this Bama squad and even we've been saying it all year long because I went to a couple of didn't couple those games. I came back every time I said, I don't know who beats his team. Any ever E mean they might compete with the Jets to season? Be honest with you. Because of the talent. I'm joking with that, obviously, But the talent on this team is just another traitor is just It was just ridiculous. And Maura importantly, they didn't make mistakes. It was one mistake in this game. Mac Jones, you know, trying to be a hero, escaping a player blitz, which he's just not the athlete to do You also you also wrote me on that and said that he can't get away from nobody looked really slow, like the recognition and just the way it turns. Yeah, we had some other runs where he made, but he looked Oh, hurting you like you look like me turning away from that base A soon as he made that mistake in my mind. I'm like this kid is gonna play perfect for the rest of the game because that's just who he is. That's just too Mack Jones is I don't know what kind of pro. He's going to be Probably a great backup somewhere. Maybe a J. McCarron type of player. I don't know if he's athletic enough in today's NFL to be a stud, but he was a stud Bt all season long and after the game, he said, something that caught people like a little off guard because of what we witnessed the last year with Joe Burrow having one of the great if not the greatest season, probably the greatest for a player in college football, But Mack Jones wasn't talking about Himself or his teammates. He was talking about him's hit the team and he was he might be right. I think we're the best scene ever play. I mean, there's no team now ever play SEC schedule like that again, but the same time. We're just so happy to have won this game and kind of put the icing on the cake. You know where there's not a lot of pressure. We just wanted to go out there and play the game that we've been playing since we were all five years old. So we did that. Really well, Then they did beat G and I mean there's some merit to what he's saying. BT when you look at, you know, three of the of the top five Heisman finalists were on this offense Now. Defensively. Yeah, they were compromised a little bit. And they weren't is as talented as you know, Some of the elite defense is over the history of college football, but as a team offense, defense balance special teams you have your best player returning Kickoffs and punts and they're hot. They Smith. I mean, This team is one of the best that I've ever seen because this national championship game BT last night, it looked easy for them right. They did. How state had no chance to stop him on any drive until they stop themselves. That was the only way that they weren't scoring on every single drive in Ohio State's not a bad team. No, they're not How you they've got a lot of pros out there..

"Bottom of the hour we step aside for Xavier Basketball Xavier today and home against Providence. A rare 11 a.m. tip on a Sunday Anyway, that's at the bottom of the hour. Today, three more games in the NFL. Ravens of Titans bears its Saints and Browns it Steelers by the ways in that Bear Saints game. The Saints probably will get both Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas back. That is huge. That's huge. The other thing that's a story line in this game is that it could be The career ending game for Drew Brees. He's he it from all indications. In fact, he said, as much he's done after this year and already One major network, NBC is lining him up for a broadcasting job and any of the Bears They scored over 31 points per game over the final week of final Five weeks of this season, they started five and one lost six straight. There were five and seven at one point But yet here they are. In a playoff game today in New Orleans against the Saints. We already told you about the Cincinnati connection in this game. Big big factor in this game could be David Montgomery. He has been on a tear. He is 1000 yard rusher just barely, but he is 1000 Yard rusher. In the NFL this week this year and game Big 1 46 against Minnesota won 13 against Houston. And he's not someone who was shy about carrying the ball 77 carries in his last three games. So ah little tidbit on the one game today that looks like it might be at least going in lopsided. Standing by to weigh in on all of this good guest of this program. We have about a lot during the football season and even what it's not football season to talk about The NFL. He writes for sporting news dot com. Great website. Terrific journalism. And it's our good friend, Veni Iron who joins us right now, here on 700 wlw Vitti. How are you on this glorious playoff Sunday? Doing well, can Ah A little, but, you know, for some years playoffs for here that morning will help people. It is cool. I'll give you that we got we got three interesting and diverse games here off the three that New Orleans Chicago game looks like the one that might be a game that might be the most one sided. Cleveland Pittsburgh. Traditionally has been a tough game, and I know Cleveland's been ravaged by covert and Baltimore Tina Tennessee looks like it could be a just a terrific game. That's the first one up. So let's deal with that Baltimore in Tennessee in Tennessee. That's the one o'clock kick today. What do you think? Yeah, that's been the nemesis of the Ravens that face in Tennessee in the playoffs last year was pretty ugly. They couldn't score it all and lost. They were so high expectations that were 14 into the number one seed. Then they did not play well if the titans of many times because of that to the Patriots of well before falling short of Super Bowls in the overtime matchup in week, 11 Was 30 to 24. The Times were able to win that one. Both of those games where Baltimore but if you look in the past five weeks Who's played a lot better football overall in your face. The Ravens Labarre Jackson is in his own playing like the M V P with Mark Jackson. We were waiting for this to develop all season long made a few adjustments. Offensive line third, throw the ball more aggressively. It's better for you to play action better used with running backs. JK Dobbin huge. Everyone kind of knows about him. There is a state of Ohio of what you could do so they finally unleashed him running back so Ravenshead rolling momentum here. The Titans. In France. I think that's going to be the question mark there much better defense this time of year in the playoffs a year ago because of Getting some kind of Patrick some kind of covers. They don't really have any of that this year, so the raisins if they play the way they played the past five weeks be consistent. Yes. Marky ground ball early openings up in the running game. It's gonna be really hard for the Titans to stop that. I think the Ravens Different have had their issues this year, but part of it's been injury related. Different Bactine on line up. I think that's where the big edges here for the Ravens. Who look they have a competent defense all the time. Really don't have any after Transfiguration. Well, the other thing too, about this game, too terrific running attacks. Now, as you mentioned Dobbins and Gus Edwards for Baltimore. But also I mean, Derrick Henry is a load. Hey, you know, I would. I would be shocked if both teams don't try to go and establish that at first. What about you? Yeah, I think that will definitely be on mine. Both teams. They have similar aspect to their offense that they used the running game to kind of do everything I mean, setting up the play action downfield passing, so We see the times they've kind of use that in games of teams gang up to stop Henry there. Use right panel on the move and get Egypt Brown accorded ball downfield. I think they're Ravens. We're going to try that as well, knowing that the running in hot And they're gonna do everything they can to stop Jackson in Dublin when opening jump downfield so into me, those early place growing in the team. You've been throwing in the run. That's gonna open up the play options. So it's about who can contain the run, at least on those early downs. And yet, either Ryan Tannehill or Lamar Jackson and predictable passing situation? That's when you're gonna have success. Three defense? Yeah. The Chicago New Orleans game. I You know, I looked at the Chicago and okay, sure. They won three in a row. I think they won five of the last six. There was a point this season, where they had lost six in a row. And I'm I look at Chicago. I don't know if they have enough firepower to stay with New Orleans and I look at the teams they've beaten in this five of their last six and honestly. The only the only team you would look at and say OK, that you know wasn't that was a pretty good wind was Tampa but none of those winds occurred. A significant winds occurred on the road. How does Chicago stay with New Orleans in this game? Yeah, that zbig question Mark here. They are the biggest underdog so we can't go. Double digit going into this game, so that tough, tough match up on the road and in the state over Know that they've had some tough history. They lost the Vikings at home another and if the north of wild card team last year to open the playoffs, that they're going to be wary of that isn't the biggest thing that happened to the Saints. That kinda helps them is the second The running back could not play last week. That means album tomorrow, the day before, even though it was not intended there. Gotta rest last week, they did have to play and take that physical abuse anonymous bars because they Virtually for what for the game, but those guys will be rested The Bears defense I think that's the funny thing is the Bears have done. It was often they were unprecedented stretches, scoring 30 or more points for the first time in 55 years, get them in the playoffs. And that's funny because they had to score a lot because their defense which he who you count on worth of getting himself so There's a lot of things look out there and I definitely think That the Bears are going Theo struggle defensively again. They might get some guy's back and secondary, which would help on this one. But I think the biggest problem Comey was running back tight end to the same. That's the kind of offense the same quarter run anyway..

"But he is also the kind of guy and I hate to say this because I think he's a great kid and super talented is they could also one year B the 14 into team and he throws four picks in the championship game, and that's just the variance that comes with him. But in the NFL wher you just need a guy that is capable of winning you the Super Bowl. He is one of those guys. And I think that's what people need to realize is the most important attribute who is the better career just because they're in the same draft classes at Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson? If I was betting I would better, Lamar. Um And I think that I'm worried about both of them getting hurt. I think that Josh is a little bit more reckless than labarre. I think that Anybody that drafted Lamar Jax would be able to come in this. Lamar is not running as much this year. Um and I think that I used fantasy sometimes to go. That's interesting. He's staying in the pocket. More thinking 37 passes last game. Uh, Omar was not doing that He would really run for 15. And he'd throw for 25. But now he's like throwing for 37 running for five. And I think that it's I would definitely go Lamar mainly. Also, I think both are very well run franchises. I think that I would put hard ball a little bit ahead of McDermott. But I also just think that the system man, Dave all they're really both set up for success. I would go Lamar because I believe he's a little bit faster on I believe that he's ah, just a better athlete overall. Talking, Adam left. Go right now. In the Zach Gelb show who should be interested in love Ian Bell. Do you have a few teams in mind? The names that popped up to me. I think the Patriots are interesting because they collect two positions, running backs and linebackers because they know that as the year goes on, there's nutrition and sometimes you find a Kyle Van Noy or Corey Dillon. I would say Chicago is interesting to Rekha treat Cohen goes down. I don't think they really want Cordero Patterson to be the backup running back, and I think that that offense could make a lot of sense. I think India's interesting even though they do have a lot of guys already. I know they were interested in possible human free agency. I don't know how how bad her relationship is. But Pittsburgh needs him. I think that he would be a huge upgrade over Benny smell, and I think he'd be a really good one, too, with James Connor and he goes literally everything. So if it ended on bad terms, I don't know. Ah, and then you know, I can also see him if he wants to stay in New York. Maybe go to the giant. I think that you know, we've seen some flashes from Devonta Freeman, but it's really hasn't been anything special, and I think he's an upgrade on everybody else. They're so those would be sort of the five teams that jump out to me right away. The Pittsburgh one is fascinating just because of how ugly it did, and just they throw a little juice here into the rivalry, and I know the guys hurt right now with Nick Chubb. Wouldn't it be something if Cleveland signed love Ian Bell? Sure, I just I think if there's one franchise that doesn't want a new addition to mess up a year's worth of like jelling together like Cleveland, Cleveland is the reason that so many people bet against the Bucks this year where it's like, Oh, we had a new person in it ruins the flow. I would say this, though. Good. Levian now experienced Adam gays and the Steelers experienced Antonio Brown. And I would wonder if both parties had enough experiences with somebody that was worse them then then, their experience they think. Oh, you know what? Maybe it wasn't that bad. You know, you know what Levy on left, but you didn't do it. Antonio Brown did you know and and, oh, you know what they didn't really treat with respect. But like Tomlin's a lot better than Adam Gates. So maybe that you know when you're trying to win. Don't go anywhere. I'm more curious on the Pittsburgh side, though. And the real winner to me here is Mike Tomlin. Because no more Antonio Brown number Levy on Belle. Adam left Go. They're undefeated right now. It's They were so I before the season, predicted three FT. North team make the playoffs and so far that's looking pretty good on. I had them ranked Ravens Steelers in and Browns browns are like a 97 10 and 16 to me. The Steelers are like Well, they're on 11, 5, 12 and 14 and I, The defense is still kind of getting picked apart a little bit. They have these moments We fell in the Eagles game. We saw Houston when Shawn Watson was clicking. We even saw it when the first of the game of the year against Denver after Drew Locke went down. Jeff Driscoll had success. But I think that that gets fixed because I don't know, man. Don't you always feel like after six games in the Steelers settle into themselves? Nicole the pair it just it feels like what's about to come the offense. They got David DeCastro finally back, and he's one of them pulling guards in the NFL. And you look at the weapons chase. Claypool is the new Martavis Bryant. Chase Claypool is the new Plaxico Burress Chase. Claypool is the Super Athletic, Big wide receiver. That big band who throws an unbelievable de Paul. It's up there with Russell Wilson,.

"They don't have the money or the possibility of bringing him back here next year, so they're pretty much The one in black, her junior likely in Pittsburgh this year, so saying that he might be motivated to have that big here, go get cashed out at the end of the year. I love the make a Fitzpatrick trade on. I don't know how it played out in Pittsburgh, but I beat out here when I saw it. I said this is This is a a win and a big win for Pittsburgh, and I look at their secondary with him and I look at I look. Att Joe Hayden, who I still think has gas left in the tank. I really do. But the Steelers have had trouble with that secondary. Oh, throughout the course of the last seven years. I mean, they've been rotating guys in and out Ever since Paul Amato left, they look like they've been looking for a leader back there. I tend to think That this is settled down a bit. Now that's from the outside. Looking in your on the inside, is it? Is it better? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you're looking at five years of absolute disaster where they didn't know who was going to be out there, let alone Whoever was out there wasn't very good. One they did of a border trying go hate when the Browns Who knows why the Browns cut him. I mean, brows kind of three years ago, they picked him up. They're able to get even felt last. Nobody much knows about him. But, yes, stellar state he's allowed here. Me and numbers right up there with some of the best corner the league and I'm talking. You know Stefan Gilmore's intraday via white type of guys, and then you make a Fitzpatrick and what he got traded here last year. 50 people were A majority of the moor up step because they thought the feelers we're going to a 14 and they were throwing away a potential cornerback like to our orginal thorough, so it took a couple games for people to finally get on board with Mika. But he was able to, you know, galvanized that back into the very smart individual and Craig Venter filled her type of guy, so I think the least part of their worries. Is the secondary Now. I mean, might want to look inside, guys say Okay, good. But who else But that defense is pretty good for the party. I mean, you got people walked by the freeze back. You got it. All that secondary bag got Devon Bush had a great year. They were two. It's that me if they could just match last here, which is because they have or exactly 35 turnovers. They Mak that in at your office going to slip into that? That's why there's so much Not with the Steelers might have a pretty decent you know, this year, Michael Ball, leave the Steelers. Ah vite writer for the athletic dot com Our guest here on 700 wlw. Can you think of Amore quarterback centric division than the A F C North with Jackson may feel Roethlisberger and Joe Burro. I can't think of another division. That has that kind of talent. That position, can you? Ah, No, I'm not. Not now. Maybe we go back. If you know, maybe late eighties. If the D A. That point telling Dan Marino's type of player but not now, not comparing these guys to whole families, but definitely go one All Famer and rough burger. You and M v p in labarre. Baker, who could be good. Could not be good in borough of attraction of the season. You had another few. One thing you have to say about him is how around around him. A lot of playmakers Sure is going to help them. I like it. Big question now is the office of Mine there gave protect for him. But, yeah, I mean, there's three housing trophy winner right there in the division and potentially the whole. The whole Famer is not hide from you. Don't you don't see that. There's no market Bali athletic dot com. You can read him right now. It is, in my opinion, the best investment in sports journalism. Listen, Mark. Thank you so much will catch you up in the season. How about that? Like in any time. You know, The other thing that the Steelers did in the off season is they addressed tight end and I don't know if this is flying below the radar appear in the fantasy football. It certainly isn't. But they went with Vance McDonald for what? 34 years and there was nothing there. They went outside Eric Ebron. What this guy I want to say in his career at Indianapolis. Like 27 touchdown catches. And he runs just really these precision routes. And I've been reading at least the comments of Mike Tomlin say he's just he's just he's been a bear to cover for their defense in training camp. Now again, all of this is against other Steelers. It's not against other teams. It's like the Bangles everything. They're doing all the platitudes that air coming out of training camp. It's against other players on their team, so we're not really going to know. Until we get to this Thursday night, and then next Sunday, whether or not all of this that we're hearing is true. We'll finally get to find out but I look at their offense, and I think Schuster has got I I'm not convinced that guy as a number one Bonified flat out, Justus Cobolli said. A guy that you look at and say, Wow, what do we do with him? I think he was largely a product of what Antonio Brown did when he was there, but we'll see. We'll see. And as I said they address wide receiver in the draft this year to Ebron could be the real X factor there in a team that has always Always employed the tight end. Ah, lot in its offense will find out I'd say Well, I can't wait for Thursday night. I really can't You probably can't either. It's coming up on 11 20 news radio 700 wlw. Assisting you.

"It's time for Chicago's best summer favorite Sunday night at 10 30 on W. G and T V. I'm of the opinion. Maybe you are, too, that the hotel industry probably got the memo that the experience needs to be different. You want it? You expect it to be different when you go in there. You cannot with confidence feel safe unless things have changed a little bit. But that's the double edged sword for those people, because, on the one hand they're always going to provide you with this luxurious experience that isn't home. Something that's cut above and yet now it might actually resembled Mohr. The experience. You haven't home. You're gonna have to make the bed. But maybe that's the way it needs to be. Matthew Blackmore's On a phone line. He's with soft little Chicago Magnificent mile. He's the general manager. Of that terrific hotel here in the city. Thanks for joining us today. I hope you're well. He's on. Thanks for having me on. Is that a fair assessment, Matthew? I mean, on the one hand, we want things to be all taken care of. We want you to tend to my every need. And yet at the same time, we don't want you to tend to my every need And I want some distance here, right? Absolutely. I mean, it's a It's a very fine line, and we in section a luxury hotel business, pride ourselves on keeping some of the things to keep everything clean and safe outside of the guests dies and I think the transition that's been made in our industry. How do we demonstrate quite visually that we're doing everything we can to keep people safe to keep the hotel's clean and sanitized. So that's that's essentially It's your point. We're redefining what luxury is right now. And what is acceptable Stay is going to be in the hotel business. So what does that mean? I mean, so how do you look? How do I How do you make me feel love like it's a luxurious experience and yet You're not in my room all of the time. Sure, so a lot of really for us As a company. We went through the entire guest experience and touched on each of the points in that journey from pre stay all the way through departure. And one of the things each of the thing that happened along each of those interactions to To be safe, not only for our guests, but for our team as well. So things like sexy glasses at the front desk. We're doing health screenings when people arriving into the hotel Social distance marker capacity. Signage and elevators once against the parts were leaving rooms for 48 hours before house people will go in. We are requesting that we just do the cleaning of the rooms upon departure, so that Any stay over service has been curtailed to limit the interactions between people with a lot of those steps that are being put in place to be able to do that. I heard that, Tim, but don't know if this was universal maybe was just early on the run. But that's some hotels who do every other room and then book the opposite rooms on opposite days. So rooms one and three would be booked today. And then maybe two and four for the next day. Are you doing some staggering like that? Yeah, we've We've assigned certain floors and rooms within those floors. I think once people get into their room, obviously, the interactions happening in the guest rooms will be minimized. There's no room service in our hotel, for example, right now, um, and every hotel have their own kind of combination of two point staggering rooms or floors for us. We focused on Ford. But unfortunately I get through this part of the flexibility we do have that occupancy levels are at a point where we do have the ability to space people out in a safe can an appropriate way. What about like the common areas? The lounges? It's always fun to hang out in a pretty restaurant bar lounge. What's the experience like there? Did it again. It's impacted. We have outdoor patio in Labarre, and we have a pretty good capacity on our terrorists. But again, all the tables are socially destined six feet apart. There's limited capacity indoors. On. So what would usually be a bar capacity of 16 about 25 right now? And the interactions just things like handing out a menu. We're using Q R codes on the table to ask people to scan the Q R code to get a digital menu haven't handling, uh, menu kind of physically back and forth between a server and I guess so. You know, And then on the from a meetings, perspective and the meeting side of our business has been so severely impacted. But you take some of the meeting rooms that might otherwise have a capacity of 250 When you lay it out in a socially distance way. You're looking at capacity of 50. So all these things are part of the kind of the new normal is for us in our business right now. How are you doing a hotel South hotel. Then what? What's your capacity on any given day or weekends? You're occupants have been the occupancy right now. We're not doing too bad. And of course, that's relevant. That's relative to what a normal July would be. Our summer time here in Chicago would be were generally running about 20% occupancy during the week and well over 50 on the weekend. From a business perspective one of the biggest challenges without any group business going on the cost of city on currently across the world and from the Chicago market, being so reliant on that business travel in groups meeting That all the hotels are competing for what's there, and a lot of it is leisure business. And so the raid the average rates that are being charged in hotels have gone down. So it's certainly a vastly different economic environment for us. You know what it Wass typical summer in the city? What's the What rate? Should I expect to pay? Then, on a weekday or weekend in Chicago this summer at the Hotel South Hotel? Yeah, so you'll find we have acute promotions and deals out there, But you'll find rates anywhere between below one hundreds to high 100. Where is usually in the summertime? You'd be well over $200. So I could get a room with South Hotel for 125 bucks a night..
