"Massive stuck spe has behind me. I did a livestream. An okay. Yeah it was up. It's been a long time. I did it's been forever and I don't know I mean have you. Ever actually like talked on the phone or anything, no member we used to we used to chat online when I lived in La Yeah in two thousand twelve. Both doing crazy fast. sped moment on tall things. Like. That's absolutely right. Bad. Yeah. That's it's such. A funny period like doesn't that just seems like another lifetime now Eight dollars an. Hour for. In the music was fun at the time but. I really believe what I do now is a bit more time less like I wouldn't go back and listen to. Think, high's music is a is a lot more a lot longer life span on. Glad I ended up. Doing nine basically. Well Yeah we'll. We'll talk about all of that for sure I mean I was just stoked to have you odd man. Thank for doing this in the first place not someone. Oh. My God Tel Aviv and I mean, how? How has your year been because I mean for you? You know I mean you just released the boiling point album, which is I mean that's a big deal for any artist I. Think for for what you've been doing. That's kind of like a benchmark moment but then we're in this weird time in the world right? It was meant to be probably the best year and We had to cancel half the album to album was coming out at the end of March. So we we come soda and but it's a funny one because it's a bit like it's a great time to release music as well as being a bad song because you can't really benefit off. Getting, loads of bookings off the back of your album when his notebook ins. Much doing I'm actually doing a few things lately outdoor things. Yeah it's not the same bombing still Scott veto and it's better than nothing. Yeah. Well, when you say you've been doing stuff have you been late are outdoors shows that are happening over in the UK? Yes. Lhasa idea to and you capacity car park and everyone was. Set in these little metal so a cages. Saddam Dune a bigger one with Jonas blue, which which is more in the country. saw it up. North. It looks really Nice Scott Stream flowing through it like between the DJ in the crowd and. So that's good. That's great. For Dj's you don't want to interact with anyone because there's a river separating. So. We lose call I'll say everyone sat on tables and then. The Saturday after similar one down Saif. Paperless starting to do stuff but the winter's come inside don't know what that means. Really. Yeah. I mean there's been some of those. I'm in Washington DC I. Know I should have you been there for that where you were back in the day no I've Kinda bounced all over I've been in DC now for about a year and a half before that I was in San Diego and I back when you and I were talking, I was probably still living in Chicago back then so I bounced around a little bit. Think. You're American. Oh really. Where did you think I was from? The French. French awesome in. All right. Yeah thought you'd moved from somewhere to America? Now I'll take it man. I'll lean into that. That's great. He's probably all that Jack Daniels or used to drink. Fish. Are you are you off project Daniels now hostility during but not not a lot but I don't J. Daniels and I remember back in the day there was some there was some. Times at Avalon in Hollywood and stuff fly that it was. Fun. Miss some. Signs a bit of a mess right now. Yeah. I mean here in America we've got kind of a perfect storm of the pandemic mixed with with trump, which is its own nightmare and you know it's you're kind of seeing like the decline of the American Empire Right now so it's it's just a bunch of shit happening all at once you know people are becoming much more aware of like the racism in this country and it's all happening at the same time. So it's with all of it on top of each other I mean, how has it been in the UK what's the? What's the mood over there? I'll think. Think paper a little depressed really because. It's just so dragged on iron. Eight. So my slyke nothing's changing fast. It's am I it's nor it's gay normal Iran, and even when paper during these events allow vape lawyer that's rubbish in ice of a guide and it's sad because right now, I can't see them letting clubs, I've paypal sweats and all ivory. Anytime say Moi worries for next year because if next year suffers hits a bit like these big companies that do all these big festivals, they gonNA thing. Let's do something else. Gil Beyda (Comcast Ventures) - Always taking risks

"Hello and welcome. I'm Alex Nick and this is moving up a podcast about secrets to success. Struggles along the way and life in general in the pot Gill Beta from comcast ventures on the pod Gill shares what. He thinks the key to all his successes and then we go deep on his pretty awesome journey. Let's get into it Gil. Thanks so much for being on the Alex. Thanks invited me. Looks like we're GonNa have a good time today. Yeah I mean we've already been bantering going back and forth here. It's always like we have such a conversation. I'm like oh now I don't see anything more. Let me let me hit the red button. I wrote to say oh like we said before. And that's usually how it goes. The listeners. Love that so comcast ventures genesis ventures. We'll get into all your venture capital stuff. You got going on today. But like when I ever venture capitalist I haven't met with one and yet that said Oh I knew I wanted to be a VC. When I was a kid do you is I did not I have a technical background so I love Computers Program Computers Earth Way back in high school and college? I studied computer science and Decided that I wanted to program computers and some of the first ten years of my career was all about Being software engineer for a companies large and small I helped develop l. up a part of the UNIX operating system. So something you know you know really down and dirty and then also Develop applications locations financial branch automation. Applications did did the full stack Then I founded my first company which was an ad Tech Company Company and I was the founder CTO Then that company exited founded another company and then after that second company I had an opportunity to go into venture so it was a series of accidents decisions But I've been in venture for eleven years now and and having a great time so let's let's stay in the early days for a few questions at least where. What is this like equation? Technology this entrepreneurship side of you'd that come from your parents your parents entrepreneurs like do you want to work for a big company yourself like what. What is that inside of you? That kind of pushed you that way. My parents were the consummate entrepreneurs alcohol they neither of them had a college legit education. I'm not even sure whether they graduate high school But a so. They started number of businesses in the in the clothing industry Where they would sell clothing They had stores and all and I worked in those stores and saw a You know at age of Eight nine ten eleven working in the store selling women's clothing and They were very entrepreneurial. They grew their business from from one store to many stores And so was always in my blood and all during in high school and College I was starting a bunch of businesses and of course malt. Most of them failed But was always thinking about it about problems that need to be solved about opportunities markets And you know I remember back in my early days. I I used to keep a list of of ideas of companies that I would start at which I which I advise every entrepreneur to do is just can't keep a running list of of ideas and keep right reprioritising them which ones you think are less possible now or more possible. which ones are you more more or less excited about And funny A while back I. I look back at that list. And this list was from from the eighties and Their ideas on it. I actually think are still good ideas today and I challenge some of viewer. Your listeners may be to To do one of these businesses. A one of them was. I don't even was possible. But it's popcorn that POPs in the shape of an animal so like animal crackers for popcorn now so the margins on popcorn or probably nickel Lord. I but wouldn't you pay extra if the popcorn was in the shape of a zebra elephant or a lion or something that was one of my early ones. Some of them are crazy. Some of them not not so crazy and all But I always knew that I was going to to start a business and So I was just waiting for the right idea. I mean I love hearing about this because speaking of business side ideas starting businesses and all requires practice. It's not like you just have some light bulb moment and it's like i. I didn't think any businesses knife out of my very first one and this is going to be the one I'm GonNa go do and it's like it's a muscle that requires like use use. Yeah I I it you put it perfectly Alex that you have to be practicing you have to be an entrepreneur is not just somebody who starts a company it is somebody who is constantly continuously in that process of starting a company and then one of them actually sticks and you end up doing that for many years. It's also so feeling pain points and maybe maybe it's easier to start off if you don't have the list you've never thought of a business. Just to think of problems takes a long time to drives the airport or wait in line at security or whatever it is right down problems on and you can try to think of business solutions to those problems will. Maybe some. Don't have a solution. Maybe maybe some do I think it's a AH. There's a parallel though an opposite universes between entrepreneur and a comedian a comedian goes through life. Making all these observations of of Oh like a while waiting at the airport or whatever and they turned it into a joke or life. Experience and an entrepreneur makes those same mob's rations but instead of trying to make it funny. They actually try to solve that problem. I like that a lot of great one. Okay so you're this entrepreneurial kid growing up starting stuff left and right you go to college rate. Yes where do you go to college. Cal State Northridge California. My Business Partners to oh great from L. A.. I am from La and the clothing store was in La yes what part of La The clothing store was actually in Inglewood. we lived in La Proper and then eventually moved to Beverly Hills. Oh Great We'll talk about that later. Okay so so you you you gotta see sign and and when you're there you're still you do still have this like entrepreneurial passion because I was like you I was starting businesses left and right growing up and then I went to school and I I said I went to Pennsylvania and now it's like everyone's like I want to be an investment banker an accountant or a consultant on my. Oh there's like these prestigious jobs that society is telling me that I should go get I mean that was my path but in hindsight I was like wash continued starting businesses and your own the biggest dirt farm and by now or something but You get caught up kind of like what all your friends are doing. Did that happen to you. I was don't let any of my kids here this but I was not focussed on school at all. School to me was something that I knew I had to do that. I knew would look good on my resume But it's unless it was fun and interesting. I wasn't super engaged so during high school where I founded and one of my first companies called Mind Games which was A video game for the original Apple Computer so I would spend Days and nights and programming The game and maybe showed up for class maybe didn't and so in high school. My grades were marginal may be. I had a C. or a C. plus average I think in college. Maybe I opt it to A. B. or B. minus But I knew that the grades that was not going to be my taken And I have a lot of respect for those folks who are focused on maximizing their the university experience and I think that's that's super important for me adjust didn't click and so even during high school and and in College I was I was starting companies and probably migraine sufferers. It's I mean I think it's a good testimony so you were able to realize that school is not what I want to be focusing on I want to be focusing these other things because like I kind of feel like I was similar to you. I didn't school but did it anyway because they gave all pressure's it's like oh you need to do this and I should have just been. I mean not should've aminals my path until sure so I'm actually kind of envious of you that you had that south awareness to say. Yeah this is not not really focusing. Nobody has ever asked me what my GPA was not unless your like in the top the commodity And nobody asks you what an anybody's I volunteered it. Because I'm mullahs proud that I actually you know did not get as and BS that. I'm actually a C.. Student and was able to do quite well Um mm-hmm and so for all those people out there who maybe are focused on other things or school isn't their Forte They're still lots of opportunity out for those people

The twisted story of how we wound up with two 'Captain Marvel' movies (and why one of them is called 'Shazam!')

"Get into it. What's the good week? We watched a lot of marvel movies this week. I watched none. Because. You know, so well, we're going to watch the word tomorrow night. And I know last week we were talking about getting the hulk, but we got thorn instead. And the only thing I can think is a lot of people are taken the T J P marvel challenge. Thanks, everybody. Yeah. And the hulk just was not available through Netflix. So they sent me the next one in the queue which was Thor. So hey, man, we're going to watch that tomorrow night. So that's how you're gonna watch it. You're just gonna watch it watch it as they come watch it as they come in. It's like could do it's all I can do. So I'm not going to send it back. How about you? What did you watch this week? So this week we watched Thor we watch captain America the first evanger. And then last night we watched the avengers the first one. Okay, cool. But that's not in order, though, is how they came out. I think it is is it. Okay. I think the only one we've watched out of order is iron man to but and made me print out an inst- and info graphic. So I have an info graphic at my office because I did not bring it home today. But we will. Be following the graphic for the rest of the way. Nice. Yeah. A few people at work. They listen. And they're like we're going to do the marvel challenges. Well, you know, all into it too. I'm like, oh, cool. You know? I'm like, yeah. Maybe you're the reason I can't get the hulk. Hey, how about we get into beer, and then we can talk about a few other things. There we go before we get rock, and you wanna go first I will go first because I have a beer that I picked this week for you. Oh for me. It's a beer I picked for you. Although I'm going to be drinking it. Oh, well, hey, I appreciate the I'll show it to you. And we'll put it on the website Thorne Thorne brewing, Thorne Thorne brewing. But look at the little logo seven percent. Little logos. Little raccoon on. He's writing a penny. Farthing? I love it. A penny. Farthing like, I don't know. That's your nerd. We we we listened to the show. You know, I make my family listen and the whole time my daughter is calling us nerds. So I just thought I'd share that. So wait, did you not know that was called a penny? Farthing I say, it's an old timey bicycle. That's what it is. It will you know, some people call them a high wheelers. But there you go. Yeah. They're known as penny. Farthing penny farthing. Yeah. So I love the label on this. I don't know where the name comes from. So I'm not that much of a nerd, I just know the name so. So I love the I love the can. And I was like ooh the essential IPA series. And I love the idea of them having this this iconic brand of this raccoon on a bicycle and then they have like this whole line of different various beers. They're a company out of San Diego, but this essential IPA series. It's like they have this. I think it's like Argyle, and you know, their their logo their mascot. Yeah. Yeah. And it says if you wanna see the name of the beer, it's stamped on the bottom. So they put a lot of different beers in. This can I'm like, ooh, that's good. That's like efficient. And and it still has the this beer is the IP far far away. See what they're actually saying. If you wanted to the of the beer you have to drink all the bottom. See the name right here. I'll get I'll get it going. What we talk about it. Okay. Yeah. Oh, that was a messy one. I I saw. saw it splashed all over your computer. Always. So is this a handy market a special? Yes. So handy market was was thrown off a little this week. Dude. I gotta get the handy market handy market is the best. You know what I got it? I got it you when I go to your town. You take me rounded, like the clothing store, the store all the place. We talk about it's like a tour of a tour dates head TJP tour of LA. Yeah. And when you come here, I'll it'll be LaTour. Jim. Let's take your onto the places. I go very go to it'd be perfect. So this is a galaxy and Simcoe. Is that sense? I am I saying that right? Simcoe hop Simcoe. Galaxy hop. I don't I I've never used a galaxy hop. There you go. This is the first. So let's say, oh, I see you have the Stella glass, I this Stella. And look, it's it's filtered. It's a non hazy hazy. So yea good job thorn brewing. Let's not fall into that trope of hazy as well. Here's the funny thing, though, is like I don't really understand how Hazies work because I don't filter, but my beers are clean because gravity just takes care of business. Right. So I'm not really sure how hazy is Hayes. I I haven't really gone down that path yet like how they do that suspension. Exactly. Yeah. Because at some point gravity drops everything to the bottom. Oh, this is really good. This is. So it's it says it's an Australian varietal of galaxy hop. So I guess it's the that's galaxy. Okay. And it has additional citrus. Pine and dank overtones from the Simcoe. Oh dank. Yeah. The Simcoe strain. So it has that piney thing that I think you like that that American cone kind of figure a mountain it has that those that west coast IPA. Exactly, exactly. Yeah. The Sierra Nevada type PA. All right. So while you're doing that. I have no idea what's in my hand. So I've Scott, wait a minute. What is? Okay. This is total accident. I know it might sound. So if you can see the can I love it. I know I know this company tell tell me the company because I modern times beer. Yes. Modern times has the best cans. Yeah. It looks like it's out of New Mexico state flag or something. Right. Yeah. So honestly, this is this is no bull. I just this is complete honesty. I didn't know what I bought because I looked at the can I just happened to turn in noticed the government warning label, and I'll show you if you could see the government warning label is wait, but there's a little bit of gold below it. Well, the name of the beer roles rate out of the government warning label. So it's like intertwined in the government learning label, you gotta take a good picture that put it up on our website. Yeah. I will. And so when you look at the government warning label like who reads it right, right? And the and the name of the beer, the style of beer, whatever is writing. A government warning label, and it's so funny because I'm in the liquor store, and I'm looking around like tech is kind of beer is this. Well, anyway, and like I I know it sounds like a stick. But this is the the God's honest truth. Like, I just accidentally just saw just now a Berliner style. Oh waste ale. So it's a wheat beer. Yeah. Man wish my glasses on with raspberries, blackberries and black raspberries added. Oh, my God is going to be a wine cooler. All right here, we go. Let's see what this is. Well, Berliner beer. I don't even know. I've had they're kind of like lager ales in a sense.

There's no like straps or they'll crow or bells or any buttons. It's very simple it just kind of slides over their heads. It's called pack crew go and actually take a video of your cat in the lion costume, and then it drops into minted reality of your cat like in a safari in the jungle. So how cool is that? There's like three post arms that move and they stimulate your cat. Yeah. And it keeps them entertained, and this is pretty fun. Well, our last tip for this is for all of the pet parents out there. Are you feline fanatics that are listening? This is a way to keep an eye on your babies when you're busy guards Zillah has a fabulous. It's a wifi video takes it in HD. And it's a great way to check in on your furry kitties. You're very felines. It has three sixty us. It is a great surveillance system. It has night vision. And you know, for example, say you know, your kitties mostly congregate. You can get several and put them in different places in your home. "I think the probably the best is open ram fans. Probably the best judo ram fans. Ma-? Wouldn't it? Be the Rams in New England. Be the best Boston LA. Yeah. Just had it in the World Series. Although that did not translate to huge TV ratings. Now the series was over in five Boston L A didn't click for baseball like it. You know, certainly used to click for Laker Celtics. But I get what you're getting at. I know there's there's no batch. But there's no bad storyline. Right. I mean, if Kansas City goes there, look it. I can make a compelling argument. If you took the top five weapons in football in this NFL playoffs. Three of them would play for Kansas City. It'd be Travis Kelsey it'd be tyreek hill it'd be Patrick Mahomes. Right. Three of the top five in all. So you've got four teams three the top five. Offense of weapons are on one team. I think you think make it very compelling argument for that. So I mean, there's an impact Mahomes is certainly, you know, is is certainly going to be the MVP. They're gonna vote him in there, regardless mean, fifty customs. It's only happened. What two other time? So he's gonna be the MVP. So you know, there's it's a great storyline. The Rams are great storyline. Eleven first rounders on that football team. Jared Goff went from. Hey, he can't play to get in a coach. And be like, oh my gosh. He's great you know, Todd Gurley. I mean, it's amazing story. Sean McVay is is probably, you know, the poster boy for the Los Angeles Rams, and what they've been able to do drew Brees. Great story. Sean Payton, you know, all that what they've done in New Orleans is is a tremendous story. Maybe maybe the worst of the story lines is is New Orleans. And you know, I mean, and then New England plan this own respects us chip, which is ridiculous as that is Mike. Having been in a locker room it works. How have you believe it here? The freaking patriots. This is your eighth straight trip to the AFC championship game high. I get it. But like Tom Brady still gets emotional when you talk to him about being bypassed in the draft, you know, eighteen years ago, or whatever it was like that chip on your shoulder stuff. If you believe it like, we're being disrespected Julian Edelman, you know, may t shirts about it. Right bet against us like that stuff works in. Here's the deal. I think there's a certain like you always have a bunch of professionals in the locker room. But if it hones your it, it's usually not for the forty three's for the ten. You know what I mean? So it hones your ability to focus during the week. Maybe put a little extra preparation in little extra focus in practice. A little extra attention to detail that can't help but pay dividends on Sunday. On a football field. And so those things work, you know, when you feel disrespected us against the world type of stuff, it doesn't it doesn't matter. I remember playing a Super Bowl being thirteen point underdogs to the Green Bay Packers. And we ran the ball against everybody. I mean, we could run the ball against the Russian army for crying out loud. And everybody's while they're so much bigger. You can't run the blow we faced a bunch of teams that were bigger by the Green Bay Packers. You know, the biggest Eline in in football. There's no way you can run against this. And we're like, wait a minute. We've run against everybody. There was a certain amount of disrespect that we felt within that locker room thirteen point on dogs. We've run against everybody. And all all you guys can say is you can't run it against this team. We had put up three hundred plus yards rushing in a playoff game against Jacksonville. Just a couple of weeks earlier. And you're saying we can't run it against you guys. It pissed us off. It was real it was inspirational, and you if you. As long as you believe it. It doesn't matter. How ridiculous America makes it is. If you believe it meant, it becomes part of of your rallying cry. Look guy respect intangibles, you know, that I'm Cathy, captain intangible. But in this case, I'm going to have to just throw some hard facts..

"Jimmy church Sunday morning here in LA. We just passed the one one one one one one on the studio clock. I love it. When that happens. We have Tessa vedic Philip k Dick's wife with us. And and Tessa. Are you familiar with the Mandela effect? Oh, yeah. Okay. This this is from Sliema, jed, I think that's how you say it on on Twitter. And there are some this is the question there are some who suspect that the Mandel affect another paranormal phenomena are glitches in the matrix of our reality, perhaps Philip k dick adds some insights that allowed him to see through glitches into the underlying matrix of our reality. What do you think about that Tessa? Oh, still didn't show Chad that he remembered living a very different life. The present not the past not such future. But as he was living. He thought things were different from what they are. Which was such as the man in the high castle. Right. He. Well, he. On a cheerleader. Intellectual level insisted the Nazis won the war. That's right and lost. But the Nazis one. I remember him speaking about this. And he said it in such a way I remember this specifically like my hair stood up in that. He was writing it as he experienced it that this wasn't necessarily fiction or science fiction. Well, even in our realities and Nazis, one, not only through project paper, but also by raping Europe of all kinds of wealth. Sure. Sure. Escaping to South America. Where by the way in the early sixties Martin Bormann who is supposedly get cash. The check for a couple of million dollars. I didn't know about that. That's interesting. Are you ready to take some phone calls? Sure. Let's let's start out west Jeff you've been on hold for a while out here in Santa Rosa. But you're up first on coast to coast AM. Welcome. My name is Jeff from Santa Rosa in which Jimmy pleasure speak with you again. Thank you. Jeff. You're very welcome. Does a either getting a crash course on your life in Phillips life, and it has been difficult. It seems to me. So I'm rather hesitant about asking you this question, and maybe making it more difficult, and you're both have my serious them sympathies. And I mean that the rumor that I heard was if there is a satellite orbiting earth, it's called the black Knight, and it seems to be run with artificial intelligence. It has a minimum date of thirteen thousand years old with an upper limited. Nobody seems to know. And I've heard rumor actually I read it on the internet that Philip was deemed by this thing, and that that was the source of many of the stories, I read do androids dream of electric sheep. And of course, really Scott made the blade runner film common. Household language. So I'm asking can you verify that? The black Knight satellite thing rumor, I enter outright goes. Well, I think that's what was calling. He was aware of. That some kind of satellite was in orbit and it wasn't ours. I also heard quite recently. The black Knight satellite has disappeared and either fallen or been shot down. And I wouldn't just council. Rumors. But you have to take everything with a grain of salt. Even Phil did, for example, when aliens and time travelers told him stories. You can't always believes that everything they tell you is true. You might have to act as if it's true, but you don't necessarily be needed. What's interesting here? Let me let me stand. That's an and thank you for the call chat. That's a great question. Is that you are suggesting and balances great, by the way, it is one of the the the best things that Philip road. But are you suggesting that possibly some of this was channeled? I understand that visitors in your living room and pulling information from that. But he didn't necessarily use that in any of his books. But that this rumor about the black Knight satellite. If I'm understanding you correctly that Philip may have channeled or had this information fed to him. It's possible. Really against the kind of channeling you hear about like the right? Channel aliens from the eighties. But if he could accept it as a message from the Holy Spirit and being very religious. He he would accept that. And he also was convinced that weren't of these past or future. Selves could also communicate with him. Unbelievable. Go ahead. Go ahead. Tessa usually in twilight stay either just waking up or just falling asleep. Let's go to let's go to wildcard it's got to me. Add in New York way out east Europe, next on coast. Yes. Good morning morning. Very very excellent. You have to love Philip k dick. But I would my question I'm going to preface it somewhat to the question in light of the fact that we hit news has a Chinese doctor having without peer review, and without any ethical review or stand as he has eight claimed to have produced twin using this genetic Chris Chris technology that has everyone astounded and also in light of the fact that with your Jess remarks about how Philip thought that they did. Nazi says really one where we seem to be heading toward it us versus them politics. And I am just finishing up a book that I want to recommend to everyone by philosophy professor in Stanley. How fascism works the politics of us. And then so the question is, please. Flesh out when the visitors came and they said that they did genetic cleansing. I'm sure you mentioned Philip have many more encounters hoping that you can flesh out his thoughts on that. And exactly what they shed in terms of Connecticut disaster. And I listen well in New York, we don't have you on radio, but I listened over the internet and thank you for this program. Thank you mad so tests, what do you think about that? Were there any warnings? What were the details of this genetic cleansing or comments? And that's a great question. Their eugenics program. Resulted in realty. They couldn't have children anymore. And of course, they were deformed. Do they look weird? And they said they were all dying from old age and some from genetic defect. And they warned that we shouldn't do that. And by the way, that Chinese geneticist has disappeared. And I suspect that he made it up. The crisper snipping of the twins. Yeah. They were supposedly hybrids. Short. Didn't know that he had disappeared. That's interesting. Well, back to so what were they what were they trying to warn us about were. They were they from that future. Or were they present time? The worst that I saw were from the pitcher. But you know, feel had experiences that I didn't share any just totally about them. Like walking to walk down the alley to the store because it was it a straight shot and no traffic, and we did we had a car, but we've rarely drove. Anyway, he would encounter people that he knew were not there, and they look human but claimed to be a lien. And and you gotta remember they don't always tell the truth. Now, what was this was this in southern California when you were living south of LA? Yes. Downing fullerton. Okay. Behind the orange curtain as we use the orange curtain. Absolutely. So just so I'm understanding you you guys would take a trip. He would walk down to the local convenience store and between your place and the convenience store you would encounter. People that said that they were aliens that they were not from this earth. Right. Now, this was were they physical or was this. They didn't seem so to me. They seem more like maybe a will of the west. What does that mean? Be sorta the day for that right around briefly. And then just dissipates. Now, one would say that this sounds like imagination. But this happened often. Terribly often. But I put it down through imagination were you? That's a great answer was were. They were they there for you for you. And Phil I mean. You mean on our side? No, no, no, no, no. We're they there to meet you. I think they thought that could change. Future by changing the president where we were living, and he get in many ways by writing the actually four final novels. Vallis and. Transmigration of Timothy Archer is fine invasions and one more title. I always forget, I can't remember maybe you can help me here. Vallis wasn't that made into a I a movie, but they didn't get to part two yet. Am I right on that? I believe there is a low budget still stylish now. But right. That's what I'm talking about. It was pretty good actually the one I really like is Radio Free album much. That was really good too. I think it's really really the best. It really does keep part from the novel. But when you're watching it, you don't notice that you swear it was word for word. You would you. I totally agree with that. And again, independent film both of them. And but well done, and I agree with you. You would think that it was word for word. Let's go to go to Charles in Elgin, Texas, Charles, you're up next. Hey, yeah. I mean coy. Yeah. You get some of the most intriguing I guess. One and a half good test. Well, there's sort of two things I guess the second thing will be something that maybe you shouldn't fire some some filmmakers the movie makers but the first marijuana. Well, I guess she testing I guess we're still over there in around the Berkeley or something like that. It seems like as the as the person personally, really know anything about Philip k dick you're pretty valuable person in this world, and you know, important details, and he's the kind of guy you gotta know lots important kinda unique details of those things where you can just. But anyway. Yeah. It seems like hopefully, people are sending us some money or something. I mean everybody that is still take dick fan, especially those that are listening to this show tonight. They are just something at least a little token, the dollar theater, and you know, just kind of you know, maybe Bush Jack a little bit. Things going over there in Berkeley. Okay. What's your question? Charles. Okay. The question I have is have have has any aspiring moviemaker considered making a movie about based on based on you know, novel. The what's the time out of joint time out of joint. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Charles. Thank you for that Tessa is time out of joint. Not that I know of but his daughter ISA is in charges of the movie, and those things now, I do know that she producing a novel. I mean, I still from you Vick. Which is the novel in which dead. People are put in cold storage gold pack, and you can still communicate with them for awhile in what Phil called half life. We're going to be headed towards a break in just a second. But I wanted to ask you. How long did you end up spending with Phil including the marriage? About ten years. That's quite a long time. Isn't it? Oh, yeah. But you know, we had a child together. And I made sure that Christopher had a good relationship with his father. I just couldn't. Well, so it's not capable of being faithful. So I couldn't stay with him after. Okay, you're married for four years. Five years. Four years. For you married for four. And then the remaining six years was that after the marriage, you guys stayed together. We work together almost a year before we married, right? So that was the total of five years and then five after the divorce. Absolutely incredible Tessa stay right there. We need to take a break. And we'll continue with your phone calls and Twitter. Our guest tonight tests to be dick the wife of Philip k dick I'm heroes Jimmy church. This is coast to coast AM heading into a Sunday morning. "They haven't played great. I like Carolina here, but I think this is going to be a great game. I really do. I really do too. I think Carolina's favorite in this game, correct. They're favored by three points in that game. I think that'll be a good one to watch out for and I want to say Thursday night football. What we got this week obviously was what it was the Browns in the jets and people making jokes about the Thursday night schedule. But next week we get the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams night here in LA. Yeah, I just wanted to say, I think that is a, we're obviously way ahead of schedule here as far as preview in that. But I saw that last night and I was waiting game. Interested in a great game yet San Francisco, Kansas City. When you break that game down, you know, San Francisco's going to score, but when you play Kansas City, that crowd noises such a factor and they're really good in the kicking game in Kansas City. Jimmy got to play better. It's to be better with the football. It's going to be more accurate with. What do you think about these little some leak reports that were coming out this Shanahan and Jimmy have had some some back and forth because Jimmy is more it's a, it's like he's basically add living. Allot. Shanahan has direct plan, you know, Matt, Ryan's gonna do exactly what to do, but Jimmy is sort of going rogue a little bit more Jimmy's. Are they Jimmy's the buckle down? I think Jimmy needs to get straightened out. I think Jimmy's not playing to level he can play. He bought into the Jimmy g. hype a little, maybe Jimmy Garoppolo. I don't need Jimmy j. I think he has a little bit. I think he can play way better than he's playing right now. So we'll keep an eye on that. We'll see Jimmy, bounce back. I mean, if there's any defense amounts back, that's probably the canned city. Have you get Goodwin back to that helps them. They gotta run the ball, look. Here's the thing to beat the chiefs. If you're gonna. If you go to slow down Patrick Mahomes, you gotta play defense and you got a force third downs, and you got us control the pace of the game. You can't go out there and give him the ball for thirty two thirty three minutes. They're going to beat you every time. Yep, absolutely. We'll keep our eyes on own all the stuff is keeps going obviously, Eric Bury's another guy that he missed practice on Wednesday. No, got to keep an eye on that teeth. Defense gonna bounce back. We will be back on GM street on Tuesday. We're gonna do or week three Lombardi's reaction. So the whole year we actually. Yeah. Well, you know, I I like saints and things just to see if I can ruffle some feathers out there in the world. But we were having a great time. When these Fridays we enjoy all the previews. We appreciate everyone listening and we will be back. As I said on Tuesday, I will be in Maui, I will be calling informality being Chris Berman country, but Lombardi will be here hold the four speed, so I got you. Okay. Mile my phone. Hopefully I won't get lost in the ocean or anything like that, nor spread gridiron genus overtakes him, spread it over that. I'll say you're the norm, Chow of a football over here in the state. "First episode of season. Three is a speculative fiction story by Rebecca Roan horse entitled welcome to your up into Indian experienced TM. It's about a tour guide who gives virtual reality experiences to tourists who want to know what it's like to be native American. Thanks black, Mary meets west road. Sounds awesome. So don't miss it. You guys season three's out now, subscribe to lavar Burton reads in wherever you listen. Okay. Now, here's the conclusion. My combo with Mr Simmons. Okay. So I don't know how we got sidetracked, but LeBron LA. Yeah. And I was saying my difference from sports point of view for millennials. I'm a team person and it seems like young people now are people fans? Yeah. Like you think you're right. I say I'm a little like, you know, my boys Aker he's a LeBron fan, so he will follow Brown tail. Right? That's right. So I'm a Lakers fan. I love the brand because he's a Laker like that's different. It's been a Celtics fame. Yeah, incredible. Watching you Laker fans after years in Kobe versus LeBron in the Broncos knew how to win. Kobe does than the broad shows are here. This stuff. So happy whenever the Celtics for years and years. Kobe's got five titles. The Brian Lehrer has three. Kobe knew how to win. There's an alpha I never compared. I'm just. Lumping all Laker fans to win a very stereotypical accent. Yeah, yeah, that was that was the mindset now it's, I still think Kobe is gonna come back. That's that's another one conspiracy there. He is not going to just want an Oscar. Why do people come back because they can't get that same attention anymore. Right boxers usually come back boxes, have huge tax problems, so they have to to make money fair point and they need the attention, big ego, people boxers, musicians. Oh, that's our last tour. Oh, we're back fresh, no wrestlers. It's usually for like they kind of missed the limelight and attention. I could see Kobe just watching this and going and Kobe, Kobe. I'm just gonna go shoot some jumpers. Yeah. Oh, really? That's we. I'm glad you're playing it. Yeah, might play a little pick up with my agents, but meanwhile his in the gym for three hours shooting threes. Yeah, but Koby couldn't even play a quarter these as his body. He he, he, he played two years past the point where his body actually could do it his mind with such you heard of this out, of course, one hundred percent no chance. I I'm not a ninety ten person. That's a hundred. He's gonna come back guaranteed I, you can bet anything you want getting on it. I wouldn't be shocked because we know Kobe's celebrity. He's not coming back. First of all is talking about this because the Laker fans get so flustered. But first of all, Jordan came back and played in the frigging wizards that was weird. Yeah, Jordan's career was odd. You know he, he's sat out those two years in the primary was career. You know, for whatever reasons. I think when somebody and then there was that strike season after their last championships to that the real, yes. I think he felt like he hadn't really. Completed his somebody as a massive ego, I'm prepared for anything. That's true. That is a fact unprepared for Kobe, watching these Laker games going. You know what the need me does LeBron conquer Los Angeles. Yes, definitely. Right. LeBron's media strategy. Ironically, since the decision since probably two thousand eleven finals. The decision. He's the villain. His first Miami year, right? He completely melts down from two thousand twelve on is almost unassailable like you go back and read that letter. He did in in. It's amazing when he went to Sports Illustrated Cleveland letter. Fantastic letter. Fantastic letter, also fiction. Yeah, I'm here. I'm here now. It's time to make my roots some part of this community forever. He left it for years, but nobody cares. They handled everything so perfectly, but I'll make him make an argument to you LeBron has positioned selves as something bigger than the game game by opening designing argument. But by opening the school, that letter is correct. Let the words of the letter when he went back. He's like, I'm back. But. With any sign these one year deals. LA LA as the final act all this, keep it a higher percent here, man, Cleveland winning a championship, his bigger than sports. I it what it meant to that town transcend sports. That's why it was such an important thing. That's why they're not mad at him right now..

"That i noticed though is i noticed that i had a really good lesson about once every two weeks so i said to myself why why do this the rest of the time if i could just have a great lesson every week or every couple of weeks you know that would be much more satisfying that's basically i always wanted to teach but in something that i was really that was really next in got to be bodybuilding 'cause i did for social time so it got me disciplined in the method of doing it and you know i i like the active teaching but i didn't like working in public schools i have to admit it takes a certain kind of patients to to work i i i was gone teacher with a was it called junior achievement i'm forgetting the name of the program now but i went in and i taught eighth graders in east palo alto which is a really rough neighborhood once a week and it doesn't sound well there's there's the normal palo alto which is all vc's love you cross the freeway there's still unpaved roads and it's where it it's an incredibly dense migrant population sort of one of those east east la yeah exactly and so i went to one of the poorer schools there and taught and mentor about just challenging just just at a emotional and as an emotional level wait like wow like it's really hard to get through it to any kids that age but particular when they weren't eating very well and they might have had stress at home and i just realized wow i i i was also a teacher at uc santa barbara are not sorry uc santa cruz for five years was a teacher of master's degree level people and the difference there was there was something that that took an incredible amount of patients for me as a young man was was really hard for me to do but i noticed that in your your teaching is very clear and it shows that you're a teacher because you know how to convey information but you also talk about this framework called learn and our sense for relax inn learn in tech about rest and sleep and meditation and i'm kind of wondering if you got to be extra pay or learned the the need for meditation because you were a teacher at the same time you're working out or whether those are unrelated that's how i made it through the day that was your i've met doing free periods you did i did all different different forms of meditation insight meditation gazing mantra did all of that let's still do it but it really it'd be saved me i mean if it helped me maintain mike will i remember one time i was doing a insight mate meditation fossa where you label your sensations in your thoughts as they come up now had already been doing that for a whole day you know sitting in the teachers meeting just wasting time listening to the stuff i had to go to graduate school anyway so i left in the teacher called me out and i it just didn't faze me at all with the principal call him didn't faze me at all and i continue doing what else doing it just was remarkable way to maintain my comments flight of mad versity no i i enjoy teaching.

"Fiji was yeah i wasn't gonna go unless it was what my wife okay and they will know it wasn't there was no candidate at that point yeah yeah have a good options no you know you know the real of that story i do know upside instead i understand all right so let's let's start where we started with mason bk the idea of yesterday was the first day of lebrun hysteria of the finals are over warriors are the champions and now it's all about free agency and who's gonna go where in the momentum for lebron coming to la has reached a point that it has not been at before it just seems again and i don't know if it's because it's all in reading i don't know if it's because it's all in talking about i don't know if it's because it's real but it just seems that every day that goes by there's another brick in the wall another dot to connect the brings lebron la yeah and i think what's really fueled the fire of late is threefold one the season's over so we if shift is story line from those champions which we already knew in september but hey we're here now that's a reality golden state once again then it's like lost vegas odds that just keep coming out which keep increasing the lakers chance right i don't know if this last one was correct but it said lakers had a twotoone chain saw two two to one and then something that's anonymous vegas if you know gary payton and what he said online hey the glove kind of win little little head of skis maybe in talking about lebron son committed to the powerhouse era came here and if that's so reality because we know he's been out here looking at schools and that is the school to commit to in terms of how much star power is the on that roster makes sense so we we should see we can find this but i saw it on youtube earlier today on the jump with rachel nichols and amine was on pippa and his son right goes gotti pippen junior is also at sierra canyon and they.

"Justin cheat on her when she was pregnant which i'm pretty sure is the absolute worst thing you can do and there's no doubt in my mind that he's stopped so like she needs to stop her intro we need to get their ss back together bass in the arms of their loving family and get away from johnston because he is an infectious disease well we were saying on the show last night that kardashian needs to move to nashville cardin film and i think that khloe intrigue should be the ones to do it i think because she clearly likes life outside of la yes she needs to leave cleveland number and she lives in dallas yes that was crazy she lifted the four seasons like eight dream totally it was a dream yeah she like she likes life on the road yeah so i think she should try out national and if she moves here we'll volmer here we're so close interesting here oh my god i know i say that about a lot of places that i go to but like this was the only one i would probably realistically do one there's no income tax too i just absolutely love it here three arbor driver told us there's every week there's one hundred millennials who move to nashville that's a statistic and especially ten percent of them were on the bachelor and the other ten percent listened to the toast i don't know it's just like it's such a place that like i would live in i wouldn't need to get like five or ten people that i'm close with in new york to move with me yeah we'll just the scenes of course and the one thing i don't think i could get my my head around is like a big part of my life is like going out to the clubs i don't think they have clubs here they have like lounges and bars lounges and bars are everything we were saying the restaurants they have here everywhere we drive like mesmerized by restaurants that look amazing because the end they have the.

"Mike brown was humiliated by being fired at her one year here but he was also park quickly in la yes but he was especially humiliated by ron tacky leaving um in neil as we've talked lebrun didn't play all that well and its last series of against boston deliver on one point oh here and in game six they were thing nine down with a minute to play and it's not gonna happen you know boss there is nothing amiss all it's free throws and you're not gonna hit a bunch of threes and somehow to win our force overtime but for a couple of possessions you have to play up the math and foul in and see what happens it's an elimination gangs and my jumped off the bench yelling falome foul abhran waved film to sit there and they just let the talk running in that that was a humiliating thing for him for a coach to undergo so it in in that context to you think that would braun who is as far as i'm concerned the best player in basketball even if yeah even of kevin duran has a great two games i am not going to change my opinion on that yet do you think abhran was embarrassed by that steph curry play uh you know probably because athletes are so proud especially someone like him but you know tony he's not only a guy like lebrun is capable of being embarrassed by curry doing that because he's a six eight two hundred fifty congo's not supposed to be able to stay with a more nimble guard look at what irving was doing to fester zeal ian and bogus before he got her last year he not supposed to be able to stay with him because he's the bronze james people expected any tried to try our all he made them work for it encouraged one behind ethic irving is the best all and learn the lake.
