"Yeah that was pretty talking about guys momma but the problem with it is is that these refs have too much control. And it's going to cause 'cause it's going to happen in a playoff game or big game you know we're a guy's gonna get flagged. No the fans are gonna understand. Why he got flagged you know and it's just going to cause a lot of dissension But if you look at the rule. Here's the rule it says that Taunting to promote good sportsmanship and respect for opponents. The nfl competition committee nfl coaches nfl players association all strongly recommended the taunting of an opponent. Be a point of emphasis for officials. And that's what they memo that was sent out horse the fucking nfl. Pa is on this. That jc treasure is central. Oh my god. I don't know who is who saudis and i know why would you agree to that in in in the memo goes on it says what is taunting taunting is any flagrant acts or remarks that.

"Notice a lot but they're not they're not doing so well We are secondary is ninth in the league for yards per pass night best at six point. Six six point six yards per pass rely. Yeah yeah That's that's not really that good at all bills. I with four point. Nine th really good They did the average ran eleven yard. So that's goes straight but when you're not allowing yardage by the run and then also art allowing yardage by the pass i mean on some pretty sweet deal yes Were fifth for completion percentage. Which that's not too bad. I now at seventy two point six v. worst. The vikings are i with seventy seven point. Eight we're four interceptions with four mike edwards sound the two sexes probably highest score in defense two probably danger close to Patriots have five interceptions. So they're leading the league again. Think catch up yes. We are only one of seven teams. That's not giving us a forty plus yard pass. How about that okay. The longest pass thrown on us has been thirty one yards and only two other teams have shorter. Longest passes well. I hope we keep that up through sunday. Yeah i think we will know what we did. Dow's and they've got some pretty receivers cooper cup different story but we'll get into that here in a little bit so I have something else. I want to cover. It's not really a factor. Follow up but it's something we've talked about a little so we'll we'll consider it a follow up the taunting everybody's freaking out on the taunting in rightfully so you know who was actually seen people defending it. Yeah yeah who you gotta stop hanging out with these people now. It's on twitter. I mean right now. It's like a dumpster fire. I don't know why but there were people like you know. We don't want people starting to fight. I'm like speak for yourself a hall. We do who we were watching. I think it was the rams game last night. And i don't like how they've gotten to where they blow the whistle when running back as running and he'll get sworn to with a bunch of people whatever and they're still they're still standing up in the russell blow the whistle for ford momentum or whatever but you know used to. You didn't blow the whistle..

"What i got is tough because i know i am a donor so i will be donating network and said i got that part but also too. I did play professional football for eight years of my life and so donating my brain to science for. Cte research is also a thing. So it's like. I'm kind of both you know what i mean. You're dohrn re donating organs. Keep people alive but then also have to you know. I feel like i have to donate for for research for science so sorry to cop out of this one i feel like i'm in the middle because i have to do both. Yeah you're not in the middle of do both. I'll do both but yeah. I didn't know that was an option. Not an option coming rules in because of the issue we we never ever let anybody cop-out so no you to pay clunker. I'm going okay. i'm going. Wow i gotta keep a life alive cute. The life alive keeps someone else alive. But man i would love to just get the re more research behind. What's going on with the i personally. I don't have the right donald dig. I mean i feel like i'm will. But i do want to go. What's the mind the brain of you know athletes after dude. You don't know man the nfl where the rice it soccer whether it's basketball. I think that there is some research behind. That's another story for another day. Yeah hey that that's good though because there is a lot to that because you don't know what's going to happen in twenty years to your brain seriously. No joke. i listen stick around everybody. Karen kay got a traffic update and then coming up as kirk is going to start calling these college football games and he's going to have pac twelve and big ten. I wanna hear his his thought on this giant alliance now between the pac twelve. The acc and the big ten are kirk. Morrison is in today for george sodano sodano and cap on seven seven. Espn coming up in a matter of moments. We're going to give away. La fc sweet night. Tickets got a pair of tickets to the seven ten sweet when l. Afc takes on sporting kc. We'll tell you more details about that coming up in just a couple of minutes. But kirk i gotta ask you. You know you were talking about this earlier. How you got the ucla hawaii game this saturday. Then you've got northwestern versus michigan state later in the week and then the last game of the week you told me was like east tennessee against vanderbilt. That i get your whole schedule right. Yes you got it right. Followed by a unlv arizona state game the week after the east tennessee vanderbilt. One was the one that i'm like. Did i get that right. I can't believe so. Let me get your opinion about what is happening in college. Football because when oklahoma and texas took off for the sec. I came on the air the next and went. Okay if you're the pac twelve you gotta start really thinking about what you're gonna do in the future because you don't wanna have teams like sc. An oregon picked off which some people were talking about the big ten trying to go after those two schools. If anything if you're the pac twelve you wanna go out and try and expand not let your premier product be picked off lot of alliteration there so so tell me what you think. Though now of of what we're this is the early stage. Reports are pac twelve big ten. Acc will combine forces in some way details to be determined but really in an effort to team up to combat the power of the sec. Kirk morrison you're a college football analyst for espn. Tell me what you think what i think. Is there like you mentioned. They're trying to stop. What the se building. The sec's already built a juggernaut. Now you add to programs oklahoma and texas to. Let's be honest. they were the big twelve. That's why the big twelve crumple because the two teams who are. Actually the big twelve are no longer there. Oklahoma state tans estate baylor. It's all good schools. Trust me good schools. But they weren't they didn't bring in the near the revenue of texas and oklahoma. Texas and oklahoma has one of the best rivalry game that we watch every single year in the red river. Show would call it something else. But i get upset when you call it the old version but that's the one big game a lot of people watching those two schools going to the. Sec is going to be a lot of money. i knew it when. Abc espn took over the sec. In the coming years in terms of that saturday window. That cbs own for so many years. The sec game of the week would now be by premier football. It is it is it. It'd be the equivalent of sunday night. Football be equivalent of monday night football. It's a standalone game and it's not necessarily stand alone because other college games will be going on but that one in particular is going to have major impact. It's all about the dollars. Let's be honest. Scotty it's all about the dollars and now with espn plus moving the way that it's going a lot of things that we see now are subscription based so the sec will be subscription based in some aspects and. I think that's where you see the alliance trying to figure out. How do we do the same thing. How do we get that same lure that same appeal. That the sec hat. So what do we do. Let's try to schedule a usc versus clinton right there. You go or this goal. Michigan versus oregon where these are like household gangs three four times a year within their respective conferences. But i'll be we've been pondering isto we've been pondering this i want to set you scott. What about usc.

"All right let's get a check on traffic and then let's come back and find out what kirk things about this trade that the rams made stick around everybody yet sadako and cap on seven seventy. Spn kirk morrison. You know him from his days as a raider. You know him as the pre half and post game host with travis rodgers here on seven hundred ten talk and rams and we're coming right to your phone calls but before we do kirk i gotta get your opinion on what the rams did by going out and getting another running back. Everybody knows a camakers was hurt before. Training camp daryl henderson sprained thumb but he was in practice the next day so they went out and they make a move to get sony. Michelle a former first round draft choice from the new england patriots. The guy who rams fans will because he scored a touchdown in the super bowl that kind of put it out of reach. What do you make of this. Move by. The rams to go acquire sony michelle. I'm not the biggest fan of the move. I'm just not When i first heard them they wow. They went and got him. And i'm saying it does serve a knee but i was. I'm not the biggest fan of the move. I think that there were more options. That will come available. I think that not a fan of the move. But i understand. I understand the ram needed to get a running back in there. I knew they will get a running back. That was his way too. Young even d'oro henderson only in his third year in the nfl to me you're still learning the nfl. You're not necessarily a veteran veteran just yet. So he's in year three and he's been a guy who's been off injured daryl henderson then the guys behind him have never even taken a snap in the nfl. We knew the rams go get running back at some point. But i think the injury to darrow henderson with the thumb and i know he's back but that definitely made the the rams say you know what we gotta go figure something out because we are one injury away from having to rely on a couple of guys who have as many carries in the nfl is mean. You combine cap. I only have one. You got one okay. But i understand the move i get i just for me. I think in the coming days and weeks. The rams could have possibly saved that draft capital when i'm still getting conflicting reports on what they gave up. Is it a fourth rounder. In or fifth rounder in twenty twenty. Two and it's another pick in two thousand twenty three all late round picks. Nothing you know before round four which is a good thing. But i just felt that for a guy who was declined his fifth year option. So just remember that song. Michelle was already not going to be coming back to new england. Next year at the rate that he was possibly supposed to get he was going to be a free agent regardless. I just think that he was possibly on the bubble anyway. Rams could await it at least thought to you. Know the final cutdown day and bring him in but if they found the need that they want it they got it. I'm just it's something about these georgia running back right. It didn't work out with the last one. Name talk girly people say what makes chubb with the georgia. Yeah okay. he got a contract extension. But you know. He had a little knee injury in college and sony. Michelle is very similar to todd. Gurley has guy who'd been banged up while he's been in the nfl but the rams are gonna gamble. They're going to go with sony michelle. I just wanna see what else was out there in the coming weeks especially after this last preseason game which gives you time to see who was on the bubble and who teams really saying make their roster and kirk. We'll come back to this coming up. Because i i see just slightly differently. Which is to say that the rams for some reason targeted this player you know and we're willing to give up late round draft choices for him. When there's so many available free agent veteran backs they decided. Hey we'll take this guy in all likelihood you'll only have them for years so i'm also curious about the move but i kind of liked the fact. They went out and got aggressive rather than saying well. This guy sitting at home they actually went and got a guy that's been in training camp and they know his game so we'll come back to it but stick around everybody. Let's get to your calls. The question was this. If you're a grown man do you take a baseball glove to a major league baseball game. We're getting a lot of reaction on twitter. Let's go to the phones. Here's mitch in new jersey mitch. Checking it on seven. Espn what's going on today. Mitch how's it going. Scott how you doing kirk. Greg's mitch moore i i like to sony. Trae by the way I just wanted to the rams have any drift choice of lessons. Thinking i would take my love. I've got a lot of Surgeries i do. I'm not gonna look at a bigger man by getting hit the mouth be more money I hate pain. Get more money to take the gloves. That was a great. That was a great catch by the way But i believe the fans have a give the feel a chance. Allies all out. It's it's like in football right. You do the screen offense liming can't run downfield to a certain I spot how kirkwood new. That's your your specialty. I got you. I got you. Thanks for taking my call. I met you got him right. So there's a vote for yes bring my glove to the game. Here's mike in palmdale. Checking in on sadako and cap kirk morrison filling in today for giordano. Mike jump into this. Conversation does a grown man take a baseball glove to a major league baseball game. What are you saying the last time. I wonder what was when the dog is placing yankee stadium and I took.

"Favorite part is the and that's it. That's all i want. That don't have cane. Sugar have stevia. I want some kind of reduced fat. He's helped me. Why gaining on him. I mean he doesn't have sugar and it's better but you know. Look this is why. When lee will always ask me. If i wanted coffee from starbucks. I would state thank you. Thank you because i know extra. And that's a long list. So the what i would do. I would buy my coffee. You know with the app. And i'm like oh you know what already grabbed it like. If you're going to go down there which is mind getting it for me. So i buy my own coffee extra or will you can do is just get a screen shot of what you get. If the person really wants to buy it they can just show it to the barista and then you're good. Well i gotta give you. I gotta tell you it takes a lot of guts because i. Here's what i would've done. I would've gone and bought and that that apple thing which i think sounds disgusting at the beginning and i would have gotten it tasted it not liked it throwing it out and that would have been the end of it but instead to go back down and actually say to them. Hey look this drink. Smells bad and i didn't know that. Oh you didn't know what you did on the radio. The radio didn't do to them. I went and looked. They love me down there. So i just went. I went back because i felt bad. That you know. Greg paid for the drinks and we were going to throw them away. So it's like. I'm gonna just go and grab them what he likes. And i'm gonna grab what i like because i actually won't cough. And what did he get. So what greg were i get. I get a java chip with no whip cream eighty. Yeah but it's not black coffee black coffee but i'll be awake so anyways i just went down the gate. Can i get these two. But i happen to have the other two drinks and they just saw me get them. So he's he didn't like him was like nah. This wasn't boston i got. I didn't like it and he's like okay. Cool so i would literally got my app. And i got. I got someone went with me. They could see that apple is about a pay for and he's like now. We're going i was like. Are you sure he was will like. Don't worry about it but nice. I tip them while went down there and they like me all right. Well listen. I think that the the end all be all to this conversation is what you need to know. Is that based on two people. Thus far starbucks is over two on whatever this apple pie. Coffee sweet apple rank your s makihata apple. Chris makihata there over to and that is what you need to know brought to you by morongo resort and spa good times less than ninety minutes from wherever you are so so so listen i gotta say real quick if you want to jump in on this does a grown man bring a baseball glove to a major league baseball game. Go for eight seven seven seven seven. Espn eight seven seven. Seven three seven seven six and coming up. I want to hear what kirk morrison thinks about this sony. Michelle trade from the patriots to the rams. Did the rams give up too much. What did they get. How long did they get it for. We'll talk about all of that coming right up. But i do want to mention everybody. Sunday swagger if you are a seven ten listener you're hearing this sunday swagger commercials running all day long and you're going to be seeing a lot more of them because coming up next week two weeks away. "Like haiti linkoping jamaican republican from region. Down to lose so other caribbean island. Yes mookie atta crazy catch. Wow watching him play. Second base is so cool. Yeah i think. I know that sounds crazy but i think he should stay there seriously. Play any position. He's just he's so amazing. And you just hear the combinations of who's throwing to who and you're like wow. Mookie started that double player. Like listen to that. That's all right. That's really interesting. So greg since you are the big dodger fan here on this day so How how frustrated where you yesterday by the over thirteen with any runners on over ten with runners scoring position and eight runners stranded. I what i really liked liked to actually that walker. Bueller pitched really really well throughout the game. He said he did not pitch. Yeah right so if you can do better than that great. It was frustrating. I didn't know what day was really doing when he had cody bellinger in that six spot instead of instead of aj pollock there. I mean he was trying to do the right. He looked to use the always comes back to poor dave. Well i mean. He's the one that made that decision and out. When he came up there was too long. We talked about this. A manager never understand. I seriously never so difficult is when you look at his lineup. Like what is it that you pick apart that you go. You know because of my experience. Managing it literally. That's because that's what i do. Listen i manage literally. I can figure any of this stuff those seriously. Like what are you looking at you go. That's all wrong. That's all wrong. He should be no. I don't actually think most of the time he does many things wrong. Just that this was a situation where you see. Cody bellinger there and you're like i would probably be things wrong. He doesn't say the other ways. Joe he doesn't do any words talked about the floor. I don't use them very well. Words blouse but it's cody in. That spot. seems like he would be better lower down lineup today batting eighth right because of because of the exact same reason now. It's funny because like if you talk to like the big analytics types in baseball they will tell you and they've actually done the math on this like somebody actually did a whole report. I think it was fan graphs or one of those sites where you can they look. They took every single lineup. In major league baseball one season and they just reversed the order of the lineup. Right as opposed to the number one guy. Yeah it'd being is that he was the ninth or whatever you know what i'm saying and the difference was negligible basically and then they started plugging people. In all the different slots and the difference was negligible now in a one night scenario. Get your your potential beef but ultimately over one hundred sixty two games. Is it really make a big difference. No it doesn't. That's why i'm not upset about the loss. As much as maybe other people want it to be upset about mercy that noise you know i mean seriously i mean you got fifty three thousand people the largest crowd in any major league baseball game this year. You've got the hated astros that nobody wants to forgive. You got people throwing inflatable garbage cans onto the field oscar. The grouch was all over the stadium. Awesome so it was. It was great to show up and boo and be loud and everything else but in the final analysis you know what you really gotta do in a situation like that especially at home. You gotta win. Yeah is it possible that because of what you're talking about cap that dynamic where every single battery was if they gotta win that instead of being relaxed and just playing baseball and just being the better team they were trying to get revenge for what occurred years ago and everyone's expected to get revenge. What happened two years ago and they were pressing well to your point. L z walker bueller. I watched the post game yesterday. And he was asked about the atmosphere and he said. I haven't felt anything like this outside of a playoff game here in this building. Was that kind of amped up. And he's like you know he. He kind of alluded that maybe we wanted to win it for the fans. He's like for us. It's just another game you know at this stage but for them because it's the first time they're back there was that so maybe there was. An custodies has gotten more patient. He's not the most patient battery we know that but he has gotten more pace got noted and i felt this up last night. He was impatient. I thought he was impatient. Because he knew this was a moment that the fans wanted as opposed to let me wait for good pitch to hit and see if i can move the guys you know from from one base the other or if there is a mistake made i can take advantage of it. I as if he was like all right. Let me do this for the people and it was like. Yeah yeah and i wonder if the other side of that is true which is houston locking in like. Hey like get. Imagine though the whole pre-game you know. Hey against like sixty thousand people out here. We're not just playing against those guys dodger. Uniform we gotta play against so everybody just lock in pitchers hitters everything well to your point when you ask athletes regardless of the sport right like you know you ask them what are you. What would you prefer scoring the winning play in a game and having the crowd roar or silencing the opposing crowd and a lotta guys will tell you silencing posing crowd yeah so to your point there could be. They look pretty happy at the end of that. When i saw carlos correa grab jose altuve as you know what. I mean like that you could tell. They were laughing. Your shirt was he too shy for that. He was too shy. He doesn't like the show through the doesn't exist really small because he is so how about tonight though. You're max scherzer. You've competed against the dodgers beating. The dodgers now you find yourself where in la hat at a press conference. It says dodgers behind you and tonight you get to step in to this moment. I mean it's really cool to see sherzer and kershaw sitting on the bench together and talking. But now you're actually going in your starting tonight. I start for your team and you come into the middle of this. Let's talk about that a little bit on the other side. We gotta take a quick break. We've got what you need to know in between as well without so we'll have that coming up..

I'm trying to find a price conversation. Nope not gonna do all right. Donna would you rather till ally for a good reason or tell the truth for a bad reason. Why have been known to do the ladder So i i'm i'm gonna stay on brand and say that i would rather call you a horses ass to your face and bad reason and didn't know for good reason. Tell someone the truth for a good reason for nobel batteries. Lie for a good reason. Right truth for chris morale's so you're telling the truth for a batteries. They like what would be an example. Here's an example like let's say for instance of your buddies has his girlfriend and she's cheating on him and you busted her new now you have to tell him the bad news. I would tell them the bad news. We've had this conversation for something like that. Yes the ladder. Yes laura allan donald man the truth. The truth is always better always better. But it's bad reason. No it's not a bad which means the motivation to tell. The truth is the ferries. No no act is various or is it because something not thousands of truth. Is your motivation for telling. The truth is it. That is that what you're saying. Yeah i mean it can be taken either way here. I have no idea take batteries for eight. Bad intentions are intentions. Because i want to take them. No no no. I don't wanna do that. I've lied to plenty of people about their cooking. So gotta hate to live with the live though. "One of the button and you does it. Otherwise i just throw it away. I i can't do much. Thank goodness for football. No i just want to jump in and talk about the secondary now. Because i see you in the offense versus defense period out here. Yup and you're on the sideline and your coaching up the secondary and that's got to be a group where there's a lot of competition because there were a couple of guys that were starters that left episode. What's going on with the secondary. And what kind of coaching i think of you as an offensive coach. Honestly kinda coach and you do just congratulate nor making sure whatever that call is defensively. We're kind of in alignment with our our techniques are fundamentals and our calls and communication. But i couldn't be more pleased with the leadership that i've seen from jalen ramsey. I'm really looking forward to watching. Various williams continue to build on a great campaign last year jordan fuller and his second year. You know expect him to potentially wear the green dot which is a real credit to the confidence and the communicator. That he is and so. I think rehim coach avro coach cooley. They've done a great job. But it starts with those players and jalen and outstanding job along with fuller of really leading. The way sean. You've been here a number of years. Now as i head coach. Where have you grown the most. I think it's i really know i've said this before. But i think it's continuing to rely on the people around. You know having trust in them being able to delegate when you're surrounded by great people you can really trust those guys. Hey great people right now this. La thing it's just great isn't it. i love it. But it's it's i think it's continuing to the you know preach the importance of being surrounded by great people. We talked about religion. But i could go on and on about our coaching staff. And then when you got the right key players in place you know you can lean on them and sleep better at night. We've talked to you about this a number of times over the years. You've always said that in the off season you gotta try to find more time to just do you. And i'm sure veronica feels that way as well crust besides the crust. What what did you do this off season. That allowed you just to be. You know what we went to mykonos for a week incongruous this year it was outstanding fun lot of good food a lot of but it must be answer and thereafter to step in getting down. You know what the liquid courage is real. It was fun. We had a blast. And then i think it's you know when you're and unplug lay. Let's let's be present. That's the big thing you know. Just be totally present. And whatever you're doing and that can just lead to living the life you wanna live. I mean it is pretty amazing when you take a step back and say this is what you do for a job i. "License. Let me get your opinion on something. Right have nothing to do with football. But you've seen what the lakers have done in the last couple of days. Yeah what do you think. I mean mean i i kinda sorta like it and Extent it's like you know they're kind of old but at the end of day you know. Sometimes you know you got there guys and bring them together. They might know how to get to it sooner than you know. Having these young guys and having to take him through steps and learn it so not like it. You know rest overseas thirty two. He's not as but he's a vet. And then you got you know. Trevor rees is back on the legacy one. A ring with the lakers actually grew up with him. Good friend of mine but You know man last year was tough man. I i'm allegra. Fan dr fan so You know i gotta get back to that ring man. I gotta win that trophy ono man. We'll see what they got to create chemistry right. There's a lot of new new bodies for sure. Same thing out here. How's that how's that part of what you're doing going. Yeah steps man. Anything know professional sports minute steps to jalen together. I think you know the off season being able to come back off a year like the year before last. we're kobe. issue is able to get an ability to work together with guy. so i mean you can't forget about them steps and stages to you know camaraderie with your teammates and building just hanging out and doing them type of thing. So i mean as long as teams are able to do that and you know really figure out. What is this guy. And he's on a on a corridor. He's on the field. What's the back of his mind. What does he think so. Having them characteristics having guys played a lot you know like a stafford you know. Cool myself rob you know. It's like that speeds it up a faster. So it's definitely a good thing to have is around. You've worked with a lot. Of guys to sean sean jackson here long beach poly zone with this on seven ten. Espn what has it been like. Know kind of working with matt here as he's gotten here and just kind of from what you've seen from him. How impressive has he been now. He's been awesome. And i i definitely been able to watch them from afar. Not really you know. i mean. I've met him times times here and there but to really get a chance to really know understand his mental near gaza. Very smart guy and I think a lot of. I really don't really want to say it. But i gotta say but that man like he'll throw a pass and not even be looking national. I know patrick mahomes has been famous for stuff but like it's my bothering the way he's doing these passes and he's not he's having defenders go one way and throwing the ball obvious away like it's been three or four times. I've seen it like effortlessly. So i'm definitely anxious to see how he's gonna make defenders. This year spent man. When you and i don't want you to bring up matt so take out of it and you've been a league for many play with a lot of great. Qb's who's your favorite. and why. now. I'm gonna have to go back to my early days in philly mayor michael vick man. I think you know growing up you know always love. Michael vickers a quarterback and you know just watching this story and what he's been through. I quarterback you know. I pick math for me. I was like a dream. Come true man and play with michael vegan. Be able to be on a game like so many people that i don't know how many games wind which all mad at one money like michael vick ren back around and just doing the deep. Aprc so man is my favorite quarterback. Mike but i'll play with some chords to man. That was the michael. Vega is probably my favorite one of my favorite players. Watching a man could do anything on the field for sure i loved. I loved it. Let me ask you you. You had a really nice piece of jewelry on. Okay see because there was so much life. I assume he was excited to be here. He glow went. I mean that to me when you think of somebody says yo. That's nice ice that's it. That's that's a picture right there. I'm thinking about something you know. But i need something fake man. I need like jewelry talk. You know what. I'm not aware. No jury you wear core space you change. We put together. We can't get one. Becky work hard..

"From wherever you are. I we're here rams camps. Donald l z and cap and we are joined now here by long beach polly's zone wide receiver. Sean jackson is how are you sir. Doing good very good. How are you is the question. I mean off in a good man back home. It can't get no better than this. So what's that been like. I mean honestly man has been good Been able to ten. Backup with sean mcvay You know like. I talked about in the past. It's been a great thing to have You know the past three years. Not the past three years but i spent three years in washington so just to kind of see his success and His past the last few years has definitely been great and Just kind of back a hookup and go back home and play with him and he'll be man. So i'm excited about it howard's sean. Mcvay the assistant. Different than sean mcvay. The head coach man. I mean he's he's elevated to a whole different level man when i was with been washed. J. groome as the head coach and you know he played a huge aerobic office coordinator but now you know having his own show and being able to rent it the way he wants to run it. You could tell you know how much he's You know just elevated his game and his mental as far as offense and just playing days in to kind of keep the defense off guard. So i'm excited. You know they had a lot of success pass for years so i'm just happy to be addition beer. Do when you were on with us when you first signed. The one thing we all talked about was the last couple of years in your career and the number of games that you hadn't been able to play or how's your body like. What did you do this off. Season to make sure you get through the full year and actually i mean really what you do. I mean i think honesty You know to pass for years man. I suffered a couple of injuries. That just you know happen. Through football and You know. I wanna freak injury. You know fracturing my ankle but a you know what i will say is previous places where i've been. I've had definitely had a bigger workload. You know being a veteran player and you know being twelve years or whatever. The case may be to pass years in my career but coming here being on my fourteen year. They're doing a great job of care of me. Keep me fresh. I'm just talking. You guys here like men the widow taking care of me. And can't you know. I definitely could get another three or four three to five years. I think well if you're ever three or five more years i would imagine You know as you mentioned is good to be back home so being back home you said shawn's different and i know you're back here in the off season or whatnot but what's different about you being home as far as like your circle your circle of friends your family. How is that with them off. The soon as i came back i mean i had to set them straight from the get go like you know. I'm here for business. You know i've been here. My whole life You know family friends and just activities of things you know you do when you're at your hometown so you know for me in a pass. I'll i'll always been able to leave and go play wherever else always plan so now being here full time you know i had to set people straight like you know. I'm here for business. I'm here to work. You know You know to win games. Man get super bowl you know in. This team is definitely special. Offer like we definitely have a great shot but You know just trying to make my mark and hopefully get into the hall of fame winning. I gotta get a super bowl massa. That's my job. And i hear the party or play man to win games. What we know your real one. You're real real Who do you wanna.

Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 10

"Okay. This next receiver is a guy that you and i are. differ a lot on and with twenty fifth pick of the second round. The la rams selected to at well from louisville. Receive our end. I get their concerns. Ideal disguise five nine hundred fifty five hundred sixty pounds. People are questioning whether he's gonna be physical enough in the nfl. however this is a player. The i compare to markey's brown. I think that in order to be successful. He's going to have to gain a little bit more weight. But i think that to out will be able to develop especially with the la rams who don't need in the -sarily to be great outta the gecko. But i think that the upside for two atwal is especially there especially if he's going to have the matthew stafford throwing the ball and so it was back to murky brown when he was in college him and he had similar stats. Which is why. I'm bringing up the comparison the first place in his junior. He had seventy five receptions for one thousand three hundred eighteen yards in ten touchdowns. Now let me bring up to two atwal stats from his sophomore season. And they were very similar which end so to atwell in his sophomore year he had sixty nine sevens for one thousand two hundred seventy two yards and eleven receiving touchdowns and so these two guys. Besides the fact marquees brown ways a little bit more to travel or comparable. And if you're an you're seeing now to to out while falling to the fourth maybe even fifth out of your dynasty da and for me. I think that's a little bit ridiculous. Because for a guy that had a similar career to marquees brat and his cod season and similar upset that he should be considered a third round prospect for you and your dynasty rookie draft. And i'd say right now. Marcus brand is probably a second round. Pick but i think he could be worth a second or the round pick and this guy. Who's extremely fast as well. I think he's going to create separations and he's not just the speedster. He's not just the speedster he he gets receptionist as well on anyone who puts up almost thirteen hundred receiving yards in college. Season is a guy that is a good all amount of receiver as well. So don't just think of him as a speedster guy gonna occasionally break open deep here and there so yeah. I'm a big fan of to at wall of the i know Oh and one one last thing. He was picked in the second round so clearly. The rams do have a plan for two while. They're not just investing a second round pick in a receiver that they don't see being a great receiver in the long term and this by the way was the rams first pick all draft. If i'm correct so they might have even viewed him as a late first round pick. We don't know. But the fact that they spent their first round pick onto to By having good receivers shows you how much demands believe into Anyways kyle the floor is yours as to why you don't believe in to atwell. Well it says so much that i don't believe in two two at well. It's the fact. That so i am from louisville in. I watched a lot of this kid. He is a very good receiver. I agree with you. He's not just a burner. he is a good polish receiver and a lot of facets of football but my biggest problem is literally is just. This is and the fact that he's completely buried on the depth chart. I don't see any Any possibility of him getting in and becoming a number one receiver on that team like anytime. Soon robert woods. Anne cooper kupp. Both resigned extensions For last year So you already got those positions locked up now. You lose josh rhinos. But they already spent high draft capital on jefferson. Dan jefferson last year. So that position was already and then they spent another was a third or early fourth round. Pick onto harris harris could be used as a tight end. I think a lot of people saying he's going to be a tight end he he. They say he's listed as a tight end but he also weighs about twenty so if anything he's going to be like a a move titan. I don't see him being like inland blocker. But you already have tyler higby as well. You know it's just it's just a really crowded And you also have to sean jackson that they stopped they brought in you know so i. I'm just not sold that there's any opportunity for at least in the first year to now you like you said maybe a if you invest in this guy at the late third fourth round Me personally i'd rather just take dark throws on running backs. At this point you know even a third. The guys are projected to be thirds shrink or shrink. You know a rash of injuries and all of a sudden guys are going to get plight. Be starters and they're going to be valuable. You can train them. You know it would take a stream lee amount of circumstances for for you to for him to get on the plainfield him to productive enough for another team to to trade for him. It's just wide receivers just a position that you know if you don't put up stats people don't really wanna trade for him at all. I mean it's as simple as that you know and i know he has draft capital That's about the only thing. I think he has known. Form at one hundred fifty five pounds. I just don't know if it's worth the headache you know. But then again it only takes one person to trade and if you're only drafting him with the mindset of trading him than you're probably not gonna draft to tell to till In the first place. And if i don't know if it necessarily applies to atwells value the fact that the community hates him. Because there's going to be at least one guy and if you put up the stats. People are going to be willing to trade for him. So i i get that point but at the same time. I don't know if that necessarily applies to At wellness fair. Knock about the onto to at atwill. Because it's not actually something that to two at walt dead. It's more of the perception that people have about two. But it's it's what he didn't do. He didn't gain the weight which i think he will in the way he's still what in nineteen twenty years old. I think he's still

Green Bay predictions: NFC divisional playoff vs. Los Angeles

"It we've been talking about. The announcement. Made sean mcvay announcing jared goff will be the starting quarterback this weekend for the green bay packers or four. The la rams against the green bay packers in green bay. Where right now. The packers on pregame.com. Six and a half point favorites. It's important to remember and it's obvious green. Bay's the number one see green bay. Is the one team the gutter by so the question is how to buy teams do in the playoffs. So if we look back and say okay. Let's look at the modern era. As i call two thousand twelve and beyond and that's because it's the first year four year after the new agreement that changed a practicing and all that things is. This really did change after that. And from twelve on teams off a by or with the by the playoffs who are not favored by a touchdown or more nine and five against the spread so a wonderful. Ats record for reasonably priced by team. The number one or in the past and the number two seed now the next game. We're going to cover and we're going to finish up. The rams is going to be kansas city. Who's the other by team. They're in a different category spread wise and it's different results in that game now. Why do i like green bay. And it is against the sharks. We talked about the sharps. Like the ramps and remember they like the rams plus seven and a half they like the rams a-plus avid now element mind is six and a half. So it's obviously. I don't have to go head to head with the sharps as much as i'm getting a slightly better number and i still disagreeing with them. Though in another reason is i think the rams are little bit overrated on. Defense doesn't mean i don't think they have a good defense. I think they have a top five defense. But i think this price is telling us because we know the offense is and all that good and we know. Jerry gov is playing all that well all the doubts about golf and mcveigh's questioned that's all given how they still the sharp side. It's a defensive matter or it's an anti packers. That's the only reason you could the rams you love their defense or you don't like the pack which it can't be about the rams offense it just can't be so even though you could make the case. Oh the rams can run. The ball aggressively in green bay struggled against that last year. Okay maybe but boy if you're one dimensional. That's tough and the reason. Though i think the rams d might be a little overrated is because if you look at their strength of opposition and we're talking about the opposing offenses now. There's been numerous times throughout the year that they didn't play the best quarterback that that team had throughout the year. So let's use the perfect example. Arizona cardinals were the seventeenth. Best offense in football show right about average so the rams playing that offense their defense against that offense. It looks like okay. The rams dominated an average offense. That's a good thing except the quarterback. Wasn't the normal starting quarterback for the car knows. It wasn't collor murray. It was a backup

Let's get real about the fake crowd noise at NFL games

"Revisit the Rams and Seattle Seahawks game. I hated watching the Seahawks game because it was there are so many moments where the crowd fake crowd noise was really really loud above the broadcasters like Tom and all these trying to talk on the sidelines and you couldn't hear him cuz a stupid fake crowd noise, which is even weirder cuz you know that the people on the sidelines Jared Goff Russell Wilson, he came backed up. They don't hear fake crowd noise only people watching the game on T. Hear the fake crowd noise. I hate it so much. I'd rather honestly hear the noise of people on the sidelines. Or people at the line of scrimmage yelling. I was going crazy at one point on the sidelines. We couldn't hear the guy at all cuz of the fake crowd noise and I A friend of mine from high school plays for the LA Rams and I'm going to wait till he retires to ask him this question, but I want to have them on the Shelf someday to be like hey, what do you like to play a playoff game with an empty Stadium? I know the NFL doesn't really seem to answer that question just yet. There's a reason why you haven't heard anybody complaining about it, but I'm so desperate to know like what's it like to play in NFL game? I'll be damned meaningful playoff game a meaningful NFL game with nobody in the crowd and you can hear everything. It sounds like an empty gymnasium or an empty gym. Like I I want to hear what that sounds like and what what it's like to play in that circumstance and I just hated the fake crowd noise in the Seattle Seahawks Rams game

The Problem With Newton's Throwing Game in Rams Loss

"Version Cam Newton did we see here what he was asked to pass. Well, I thought that he saw the field decently well and I think he's making solid decisions with the football. The timing could be a little bit better and there's certain instances where I think the timing is more of a factor than others for instance the defaulted to Mere bird on the double move. The pressure really was a factor on that play and he had to slide up in the pocket to avoid the pressure. But if he doesn't have to slide up and he's able to throw them all on time and that's probably a touchdown or at least a more competitive play right instead of two guys being all over damiere Byrd at the catch point. He's behind the defense. He probably has an opportunity to catch that ball the other kind of issue that I I kind of see what the timing is on the short throws, you know, James White's production and and ability to affect the passing game has really hurt a lot because the cam and I don't need to put it all on cam. But when you see James White Run routes out of the backfield, he's the type of guy that you need to get him the ball sooner rather than later. You can't hold the ball and then throw the ball to James White the flat because of the players deserve. And to get James White one on one with somebody in the in space on the outside on the boundary, then the ball needs to get into his hands sooner than so he can read and react and make a play and make somebody Miss. So he saw that third down on the opening drive where they ended up having to go for it on fourth down cam just Waits an extra tick. It's just an extra tickets literally half a beat and because of that half a bead by the time James White catches the ball game turns upfield the DB is right on right and if he's able to get the ball out just a little bit quicker than James White has some time 15-20 yard game, right. He has some time to shake somebody and and eluded tackle or Thursday through the angle or whatever the case may be. So those are the little things that you see with cans timing and the timing of the entire operation that when you only throw the ball nineteen times and you start to count, you know, okay, you have the Mist default and your bird and there was a Crossing route to Jacobi Myers. That was a really tough throw that came just missed by like an inch or two and you have to make that pass because then you have to make the double dog. Work with bird and you have to get James White the ball sooner in the flat and these little things these nitpicks truly. They are nitpicks folks. We you go watch other quarterback play and it's not it's not all sunshine and rainbows for the other 31 teams either and I think we get too caught up in the minutiae of where is his Fleet and you know, his shoulders are flying open as hips are doing that and he's not pointing towards his Target and this that and the other thing I think it's too much conversations about those little things and not enough conversations about the big picture things, which is really just timing and kind of understanding what you know, your answers are that kind of stuff that I think is more important probably than all the little manush has like the throwing mechanics and things like that. Yeah, and we talked about this last week just under rated quarterback skill off of of being a dink-and-dunk quarterback. It's it's it's it's there's such negative connotations behind it. But the the Precision that it takes and the timing chain, And the placement all of those things is the difference between 4 yard losses and fifteen yard gains sometimes and those are big plays potentially if you hit them right and and being able to do that within the rhythm of this office is difficult seeing obviously James White be neutralized because there's not a lot of Playmakers on this team and he is one so finding a way to get him going. I think that really goes hand-in-hand with Cam being able to do this off

Las Vegas Raiders face 'daunting task' with COVID-19 issues ahead of game vs. Kansas City Chiefs

"Kid city chiefs at eight point favorite leg. I said we'll get to that in a second on the road against the vegas raiders on this game. Fifty six and a half. We will have. John cheering on later. I'm sure he'll be able to explain whether slightly above the market pain. i have to believe. That's all covid related to be quite honest. The raiders defense in the contact tracing protocol. We're not quite sure. If i'm going to have to get called up to play safety and let me tell you my foot speed not enough to slow down tyreek hill and open spaces really wouldn't say i mean i might try and slew coming off the line. That'd be my only shot. so listen. I the raiders offensive game plan back in week five was good. Obviously but the halftime adjustments that. Paul guenther in the raiders. Defensively really is what i think won them the game. It's really what gave the chiefs offense trouble. You really hadn't seen that from the chiefs offense before during this. Patty mahomes like run especially against the defense of that caliber. You go back to week. Five in the second half. Kansas city was successful. Only twenty one percent of their snaps. One point to carry twenty eight percent success rate through their moms is pressured. A ton the raiders. Were able to do something in that game. They hadn't been able to do most of the season which is get pressure vegas. Twenty six on the season pass rush win rate and then obviously after a few good games. Recently where the raiders have been able to apply some pressure to quarterbacks. They've surged to an average defense in pressuring the week. Five game if you look at some of these numbers. Mahomes was pressured on forty. Seven percent of total dropbacks specifically from eleven personnel. Were kansas city. Essentially lives seventy three percent of the time moms pressured on fifty seven percent of those three wide sets. I would envision off the bye with the little extra motivation of not. Just losing to the raiders but but kansas city not being really happy about gruden and the gang taken victory laps around the the stadium there drivers using using the loudspeaker thereafter the week. Five win that Andy reid is probably gonna come with a pretty good game plan here and you know past the success that andy. Reid is hat off the bye. You mentioned this. The raiders are are probably going to be without a few key defenders but You know another handful of defensive players are going to miss practice all week due to this contact tracing. It's probably isn't the offense that you wanna face short handed in in pissed off and not having practiced to four. I would think. I also believe we'll probably see a little more play action for mandatory. You know patty mahomes in the chiefs past game will probably fair little bit. Better here with play action. Especially if if the pressure starts to barrel down. I would also think that it's worth mentioning that three chiefs offensive lineman or on the cova the list it's believed to be contact tracing but we'll have to see this certainly make this game a little bit different. If if all three of those offensive lineman are out. You also expect sammy. Watkins to return in this game us a full practice participant on wednesday so he should be a full ghost that they're gonna have their their complement of weapons out there. The number in this thing is is really interesting. But i think that this tougher makes a lot of sense. I i just don't see. Kansas city's offense not bouncing back here in a major way talk. i mean. They're playing with a chip on their shoulder. Which is always dangerous to begin with. We've seen their passing offense. That was more a work in progress. Probably the nicest way to put it early on in the season and no doubt that was by design. Get on track with mahomes during for more than eight hundred yards the last two games when you look at the way. Mahomes performed against the raiders. Fifteen total touchdowns just two interceptions one of them of course coming earlier this year the chiefs loss as a double digit home favor and i think it's pretty staggering to know what costs kansas city. That game is the fact that hey look. They finished a net negative minus sixty four in terms of rushing yards. The raiders held the ball for nearly eleven minutes longer and kansas city knows that they can hit the home runs. That are widely available. If they keep mahomes operate i think. The raiders passing defenses. You mention it may trending in the right direction. There's no doubt a lot of optimism out here around the raiders especially on the defensive side of the ball. This is a different beast that they're going to try and counter and with sammy watkins back amongst others. I just don't know where the raiders consistently find a way to get off the field. I agree with that. And i get it. You have to young corners in trayvon mullin in our net and people are thinking to themselves like. Hey we're trending in the right direction. We're starting to get some pressure. Would you look you play at the browns. The total is suppressed because of weather and wind. You're at the chargers. It's likely a a lost game. If two guys can hold onto football on the back corner fate and then the broncos last week and drew lock was clearly injured after taking a hit in the second quarter but you could have been trailing at halftime in that game so listen. I think the raiders are better than we all expected. You look at who they've lost to. It's it's the bills box and patriots. All pretty good teams obviously bucks in bills being very good patriots. You know with bill tough spot. There is well off the monday night game traveling across the country. So i get the by of the raiders. I just need to see more defensively to believe it's real and so that that's kind of where i'm out on that unit. I fully expect kansas city to do some good things here. Offensively

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams

"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

"The LA Rams made it to the Super Bowl last year. What are they going to do this year? We talked earlier about what the expectations for this team should be. It's kind of vague right now. I don't expect another civil parents not many teams that lose the Super Bowl get back. The patriots first team to lose and get back and win it since the dolphins in the early seventies. And they were real questions about the Rams not the same level of star power infusion that we saw a year ago. But still clay Matthews who knows how much he has left. Eric wedge, all due respect. Who knows how much he has left. Either. Those are the biggest names that they've added via free agency guys who weren't with the teams. And then there's Blake Bortles. What what what grandma always say? If you can't say something nice about somebody don't say anything at all. So let's just move on. There without some guys. They had last year. Dhamma can sue. I think will be signing with someone not the Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Seattle. That'd be a great way for the Seahawks to stick it to the Rams a little bit. But I just you look I don't know where what the feel about these Rams. I don't know how to feel about Jared Goff. I don't know how to feel about Todd Gurley. And that arth Riddick knee. That only got worse as the year unfolded, Chris. Yeah. I think there's a lot of questions. They're certainly I mean, and you talked about, you know, the last few years we've seen town infusion every year with the Rams, whether it was Sammy Watkins, Marcus Peters Dhamma consumed last year, the Brandin cooks thing all of that. Hey, I do think Eric Weddell was a nice signing. They needed that position needed. A kind of some veteran stability back. They're losing lamarcus Joyner. But yeah, not that great splash that we've seen. But this team is pretty well set up now. Now, the big thing is there's not a lot of great depth on the football team. That's the one thing. I look at what the Rams the last two years. They've been very fortunate to avoid the. Injury bug because I do think them compared to other teams I evaluate they would be more susceptible to being in big trouble. If they got the injury bug as compared to maybe other teams, the other thing is, and you mentioned I mean, Sean McVay gonna have to reinvent himself a little bit this year two years of kind of being the king of offense in the NFL or certainly one of the kings. And then towards the last year we saw a few teams kind of crack the code down the stretch to where. Yeah, I think he's going to have to find new wrinkles and new schemes and new additions to the offense to give Jared Goff and the offense of advantages that way, but how long is the shelf life of this team. Right, mike. I think that's the big thing. You know? I, you know, is this is this one more year, and we turn this over two more years. How does it go? They got some aging guys at a lot of positions that you look across the roster and go they only got a year or two left before they start thinking of replacements. Andrew Whitworth almost didn't come back at left tackle. And Jared goff's got two years left on his rookie contract. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be with that team over the long haul. I thought it was funny a couple of weeks ago when the Rams picked up his fifth year option. A lot of Rams fans. Crowed all this means that Gough is the guy not doesn't it? Hardly means. He's the guy all it means is they're exercising. Their option to keep them around for one more year. And then they're going to figure out what they're going to do after that. They may not keep him around. Sean McVay may want to pick his own quarterback. Todd Gurley is the thing that hovers over all of this for me because they made Todd Gurley. The at the time the highest paid running back in football with the long term deal with a ton of injury guarantee. And then the niece started to be a problem. And what can he really do? And they used a high pick on Daryl Henderson five foot eight inch running back out of Memphis got with a rocket up is. But a guy who can do a lot of things in that offense. And if Todd Gurley was getting a little salty about C J Anderson last year. Is going to get a real Saudi about Daryl Henderson because I don't think Sean McVay drafts that guy so high if he doesn't plan to use him right away. Chris. Well, I and even to your point even if further which I agree with you. Right. You're right. Yeah. I mean Henderson's going to be a part of this offense. He special to I mean, he's can really make some big time. Plays screen game. Third down running back. I think that's how he'll be used probably early on. But the other thing that just shows me they were a little concerned with Todd Gurley to is. Hey, let's not forget the Detroit Lions made an offer to Malcolm Brown, the backup running back for the Rams to sign him in free agency. And the Rams match that offer to make sure they got him back and gave him a signing bonus and some money guarantee that usually don't see a part of backup running back type deals. So that to me is a little bit of a clue at least that hey, they wanted to have somebody there that knew the offense is a veteran have been around the league and knows what it's like to be a Los Angeles ram because they're a little scared of Todd Gurley. But I'm with you, Mike. This is a big big question altogether. Hey won the offense. Align was not great the last seven eight weeks of the year other than the Dallas cowboy game where they cracked the code of what Dallas was doing on defense. Their offense aligned did not dominate people. And then out of the fact that Todd Gurley was not one hundred percent that does scare me. Because you know, we forget the Rams are kind of a run I football team. They were towards the top of the league at all rushing statistics. And a lot of their play action passes and things and then they're passing offense come off of their ability to run the ball. And that's something I certainly will evaluate as as we get into the season. They do get Cooper cutback from a tornado assuming he's healthy that will help the offense because Robert woods and Brandin cooks can only do so much themselves Cup had become a very potent addition and without him the offense was different. So injuries are going to be a factor for for all teams, and you're going to have to respond and adjust and adapt. But that really did seem to affect that offense. They they seem to be much more. Effective earlier in the year at the end of the year. It's just kind of felt like they were hanging on to their credit. They got to the Super Bowl. But I think it was a surprise. You know by the middle of October. We said this team is destined for the Super Bowl by late seventies early January. There were real question marks about the Rams, and I'm still stunned. They came back and won the game in New Orleans and disrupted a saints patriots SuperBowl. And I'm more than stunned that they only scored three points. I just wonder how much that scars their psyche going into twenty nineteen right? The fact that they they put in all that work all that effort to get to the Super Bowl. They only score three points. Well, they have enough faith in themselves this year to that. They're going to be around at the end of the season in a viable position can climb the mountain and have a better showing than what they had a year ago. Yeah. Well, I it's hard to replicate that type of intensity, you know, the have the ball bounce your way few times, whatever it may be it is I mean, it's just the NFL seasons long and grueling and to be able to do it two years in a row is. You know, we've seen only the special teams can do that. Really? But I listen, I think the big thing that you talk about that. I certainly question and want to see more of this year is is the Sean McVay factor. You know, I do feel like teams caught onto the Sean McVeigh offense. The second half of the year. You talked about how awesome they looked at the start of the year. And all of that, you know, I just think again when your Boy Genius. And you're one of the best offense of brains in the game. You know, people are going to evaluate a little bit in the off season, especially the teams in your division. Now they've had to full seasons to play against you. And really get your tendencies we've seen another few other teams really give them issues. Like the Chicago Bears. Went out teams are going to steal what they did a lot some of the coverages. The patriots ran in the Super Bowl we're from that bears game plan. So I think that is the thing I am most excited to see Sean McVeigh reinventing himself and bringing more to the table on the offensive side of the ball because his awesome. He is I did think the offense lacked a little creativity and some newness and new plays altogether. As we got later into the season. He said it himself at the scouting combine with a laugh. He's now boy blunder no longer kid genius. But this just part of the growing pains, if you're going to have a long career in the NFL, you are going to have these moments where you are tested to try to refine your approach improve it. Stay one step ahead of everybody else. That's what so much of what the game is about as they catch up to what you're doing. You have to figure out how to stay ahead of it gets back to the store you told last hour when they figure out your audibles, you gotta figure out a way to use that against them. Right. I figure out how to stop your defense. You got to figure out how to take advantage of the opportunity that creates at the end of the day. There's only eleven guys on the field. So they are aligning and moving those those guys and using them in a way to take away the things that you wanna do there's an opening somewhere else. You just have to learn how to exploit it. And I think that's the big challenge for the Rams, and I mean right out of the gate. I mean, they go to Carolina week one. On the road. Ten AM local time game for the Rams. That's not going to be easy now. Saints come to town. The next week. They are going to be ready for even though the review all the Rams did was show up and do their job. They're trying to get to the next game. But the saints are going to have a lot of pent-up frustration going into that game. It's not going to be an easy start to the season. And if you don't set the tone right for the Rams Seahawks forty Niners. One of those teams maybe running away with division by the time. The Rams figure out what the hell's going on. Yeah. Well, you mentioned the first two games..

"And a special edition of weekend. Live obviously, the Super Bowl is ongoing. It's the fourth quarter still three two three the LA Rams and the patriots all defense and not much in the way of offense as you can imagine. But will be here till midnight. We'll talk about the the win or the loss for the good guys. And you know, who the good guys are up here and will cover as much as you want to talk about. And certainly connect with Carl again, who'll be roaming the the party circuit on Boston street. A couple of things as we await the end of the game and again, fourteen minutes left, and that is beyond the commercials, which are kind of fun to talk about the Tom Brady phenomenon. He's forty one years old and every time someone brings up the idea. Of retirement. He's quick to poop who that idea. And I think he wants to play further. I think he's enjoying it. And I think he wants to go further along with his career. My question. And it's just an an open ended question. But is do you do you or anybody? You know, it do you see that kind of dedication in in other jobs. Now granted he makes a gazillion dollars a year is married to supermodel. He works six months of the year has a pretty good gig. Although you can get pretty banged up. But he does have this incredible work ethic because most quarterbacks most athletes in that game or done by the time they're in their mid thirties. And they're not playing as many years. Tom Brady's first Super Bowl was what seventeen years ago? So it's just interesting to to ponder would would that be any of us in our respective fields. I love what I do. But I don't know. I could do it when I'm quote, unquote, over the hill Brady doesn't seem to be over the hill. And that's the first question. The second point is the opposition the quarterback for the Rams who is a whopping twenty four years old Jared Goff, twenty four and the coach on McVeigh's thirty-three. So if you add those numbers up that's fifty seven which is younger than the actual age of coach Belichick sixty six so combined the quarterback for the LA Rams and their coach their ages. Don't even equal billing checks, and they're not that far above Brady's. I dunno just little things that find interesting getting back to the commercials again our numbers, by the way are open to the three people who are not glued in. In front of their TV sets at the moment. Even though we're on fifty thousand nonstop killer. It's pretty tough to do this. When. There are so many people watching TV, but the other commercials that are worth mentioning the robot commercials on the robots are everywhere. And have you noticed? They all have the same basic look all of the robot commercials. The robots all look the same. And they're kind of based on modern prototypes of robots, but the one that I really liked was the Michelob commercial where robots are doing all these athletic things. They're there. Whacking golf balls at an incredible pace. They're punching the punching bag almost breaking the punching bag into running faster and pedaling faster. But. They cannot. Sip a Michelob and the quote at the end of the spot is only worth it. If you can enjoy it. I thought that was very clever and very tastefully done as well. There is a spot that's actually airing right now as I'm talking to you from Microsoft, and it's entitled we all win. And it features disabled children a whole bunch of them, and they just finished. But I watched it earlier disabled kids, it's a very touching spot that talks about connection, and what Microsoft what computers mean to these kids, and again there there are times when these spots are very effective at other times, we think that they're a little preachy. But I thought that was a really interesting one. And if you've had a chance to see the ole killer skin commercials. Ole oil of olay supposed to smooth out your skin. They're taking a totally different tack one. That I quite frankly, not expected they've turned the old lay skin commercials into ole killer skin commercials. And these involve what appears to be a psycho killer in a mask trying to creep up and kill people in their homes. It's very strange doesn't make me wanna go out and buy olay skin products. It makes me want to hide under the bed. So I again, I'm I'm talking about commercials that have already run during the Super Bowl the cost by the way of Super Bowl. Thirty second ad. During the first Super Bowl in the in the mid sixties was forty thousand dollars which was big money back then any idea on what it costs now for a thirty second spot Brittany five million dollars five million dollars. And that's just a one time airing. So they're spending a huge amount of money. You know, hundreds of millions of dollars goes to the coffers for CBS and for the NFL. The Rams currently have the ball. And they're just twelve minutes left. It's tied three to three third and eleven let's see the other ad that is worth watching. And if you if you're listening to this, and you're you're able to take the third is that you have to take a look at YouTube because you can see it there. It's the WalMart store ad. I thought of all the ads. This was absolutely the best and had to be the most expensive, which is basically a kickoff to their grocery delivery, service dot deliver. You can pick up groceries, and whatever I don't even know the I was so dazzled by the spot that I forgot exactly what it is. But in the commercial it starts off with the batmobile. And then all of these pop culture super duper fun cars are featured including rider, and we hear William Daniels says nightrider which I thought was really cool. The Ghostbusters ambulance the dumb and dumber than with all the for on it the Jurassic Park Jeep the DeLorean, which is cool Cinderella's coats, just because. And the Scooby doo van made just one after another, and I was thinking. Not that I'm an accountant or anything, but I was trying to figure out how much money not only to produce the ad because it was brilliantly produced with CGI, but how much to license any or all of these cars because they're all licensed to various films six one seven two five four ten thirty or eight nine two nine ten thirty flight call in I understand if you don't because you're busy with your chicken wings. But this ad was just incredible. And I would venture to say. Twenty to thirty million dollars would probably be. My guests and that can't find it online. What what the actual cost us? But it's definitely a definitely a whopper of an ad. And I don't even wanna talk about the Burger King because the king makes me crazy. The Rams currently have the ball. And it's the Rams with first and ten at the forty yard line their forty yard line. So it's been kind of a weird game. Then players moving on both sides, mostly defensive really stopped the runs. The Rams are getting a little bit closer. Now. With a flag down. I'm doing play by play because I can't alright other issues to to touch on the party scene. The Boston Globe the other day. Wrote a piece someone in the globe wrote a piece about people in New England being whole when it comes to the patriots. And they got a lot of blowback on that article because. Yeah. Maybe we're not vividly wearing number twelve everywhere for two weeks in advance. But most people are kind of excited, even though the patriots have been there before I don't think there's much of that whole do you agree with that globe globe? Article. John Henry, even he's the owner of the globe. In the Red Sox, even apologized. I think for the piece in the club. But I don't think it's so easy to be judgmental and say everyone thinks the same way we don't all think the same way, we all have an opinion, and even people who are not fans kinda get up for a game like this or the World Series or something particularly where it's in our region. So time now is nine twenty five. We have probably about ten minutes of regulation to go and the game is still tied up. So that's where we are. And we'll be talking with as I mentioned Adam Kaufman later, he's at the game in Atlanta will also be talking with Carl Stevens a bit later as well to give us a sense as to what's going on around the city, and the city is prepared as always for the aftermath showed the patriots win city is also prepared. I'm sure. And here comes a long long toss that was thrown away by the Rams. Thank you that the is prepared for the big parade when and if the patriots win, and that will be probably within a couple of days and WBZ we'll be covering any of this stuff. If it happens nine twenty six now. All right. Getting back to the commercials. The KEA commercial. Now, this is an interesting one also because they're selling cars, but the point of the commercial is wouldn't it be great? If the celebrities who making all kinds of money to plug. These various products if some of those celebrity paychecks were to help others in need, and I you look at it. And it seems like a was it. A public service announcement for the United way or something. But it it's an ad for Kia, and it's their attempt to make a statement. And and get some attention. Obviously another interesting, Ed. Let's see I mentioned Microsoft ole skin team that wouldn't be and this one really did. I think have emotional impact, and it was well done, and that's the team that wouldn't be here at that's from Verizon, and it's a series actually of ads that features people who have been in accidents people in the NFL who've had issues accidents car accidents and other issues in which first responders did with first responders do and it's very well done. And it's not just a made up premise. These are actual real live heroes who have saved folks in this case who were with the NFL that that was an exceptionally. Well done. Piece of advertising, if you will feel good and Verizon's point is that they are taking taking credit for making it available. The the phone line that allows these first responders to get the message and come to the rescue. So hats off to to them the Pringles, add the Pringles commercial is a lot of fun. I'm just looking at an ad which looks to feature Andy Warhol eating a hamburger. I'm not sure what that's all about Britney. Keep your eyes on that ad. Will you please? The Andy Warhol thing eat leg, Andy. Okay, whatever. But the Pringles ad is fun because it's a play on the. Amazon or Alexa, warning of these talking computers at home and the Pringle. I hate Pringles, by the way. Oh, my God would just give me a real potato chip. But that doesn't matter. The guys are working on developing little snacks with their Pringles in this. Alexa. Whatever she is complaints that she doesn't have hands and mouth, and she can't eat the Pringles. So in the two guys eating the brindles seemed to care a little bit. And then what they do is really funny. One of the guys play funky town and the song funky town comes up on the spot. And I thought that was cute. I really did. No one was hurt in the making of that spot. No one was hurt. And by the way, we haven't talked about this. And again when people are done with the game and are driving back home, and we'll call in at some point. We can chat about this. But the halftime show. The halftime show featuring maroon five Adam LeVine couple of rappers and a bunch of fireworks. And so forth. I spent this the first time I've ever spent more time reading during while watching the halftime show is reading you know, what I was reading Adam Levine's tattoos. I was reading them. There were so many of them, and I didn't get done. I didn't get through. I wanted a dog ear Adam LeVine because I didn't finish reading him. But. Nothing happened of a political nature. No statements were made during the halftime show. And speaking of halftime shows the the most watched halftime show in history of the Super Bowl was in two thousand fifteen with Katy Perry. I remember that was quite a spectacle. One more thing before we take this break to chat with CBS and get an update on the game and more and that is the singing of the national anthem by Gladys Knight prior to that too young ladies names escape me sang America, the beautiful those were the highlights I would have listened to them throughout the entire halftime show. Read the phone book. They were terrific. So if you if you saw Gladys Knight, she's seventy four years old and just owned that. Anthem just owned one of the toughest songs in the world to sing. And she did a brilliant brilliant job. All right. So when we come back we will continue to monitor the game patriots have the ball at this point. And when we also come back. We'll invite some calls at six one seven two five four thirty. If you happen to be driving, and you fine tuned us for some strange reason. Okay. We have to take a CBS. Let's do that. We'll come right back. News updates fourth quarter in Super Bowl fifty three. Now, the Rams and the pats are tied live to CBS's Steve Futterman. In atlanta. Gary continues to be a defensive struggle right now. Eight minutes left in the game. It's England three Los Angeles three. But the pats are driving right now. The game was scoreless until.
