"You know marketing is one of those things where. It's really about authentically surfacing and shining light on what already is. And I think sometimes, it gets a bad rap because a lot of people think about the stories that you're creating were really it's just about the stories that you're bringing to life that already exist. and. So as we think about bringing the stadium to our fans, we wanted to do it in a way that is authentically us in some of the things that were about is very purpose driven organization. You know our north stars all about inspiring Angelenos to shine bride and what that means is. Angelenos and our fans have this ethos of pursuing their dreams and pursuing the goals just like we do in football. With the rule that football can play is to actually provide that inspiration to go the extra mile to push a little harder to reach a little higher. In as we think about those things. So the things that are in our DNA is community and ensuring that we are building the foundation. For. Communities to thrive. and. So things were doing about this year and bringing our stadium to our fans is through community. So on Wednesday, we will be serving families within the Los Angeles area at the stadium in partnership with the A. Regional Food. Bank must recently we partnered with sticks a rapper and producer who is a native of lots as well as with Pepsi and Jay Rock in producing videos from the stadium. So the one with sticks is really all about social justice and how the time is. Now for all of us to act that's been in our DNA we've we've tried to address and have been addressing with their communities partnership poverty, education inequities police. Community relations, all those foundational things that enable communities to thrive from a long-term perspective. But sharing that message in a way that also brings a stadium twice 'cause they're they're doing the performing at the stadium with that message. With Jay Rock and our partnership with Pepsi, you know they're doing the pre-game show at the stadium and and he's performing in the locker room and different spaces to be able to share that. So that's one way and another way in is leveraging technology creativity in an innovation, and so we are providing season ticket members a second screen experience through their mobile.

"The raiders have their own theme song. That's fantastic raiders. Are In Vegas Raiders? Have a new stadium as well. And the raiders are going to be better than they were a year ago. I think they're looking at the raiders scheduled key an absolute ask kicker for the first five weeks of the season. They've got New Orleans to open up their bill. They opened at Carolina. That's the one game that stretch that you think okay. We'll see what it is. They get the saints at home. They go to New England. They have buffalo at home than they have to go to Kansas City. Those five games. They could be two and three. They could be one and four. Potentially I don't know I don't know about that. New Orleans always drop one to a like the Tampa Bay buccaneers out of nowhere. They just so you don't know about New Orleans you don't you just don't know going into Oakland. Oakland certainly is a better football team. They were in the path of this. Or what did I say? Oakland Vegas is raiders. I'm just GONNA say raiders to saying fakest. Raiders are a better football team right now than they were a year ago. They've gotten better. They've addressed some needs in the off season. That should make them better. This is now John Third Year with this team now. Everything is his blueprint so they should be better. New Orleans is coming off a headache of last season coming down to the wire losing again after getting snubbed by the rams in that when a year before so when you start to look at that they catch catch them in a hostile environment. Hopefully it's a hostile environment. Because it's you know depending on where we're at in the country if fans in the building or whatnot but let's just assume that works out that way. They're going to be a hostile environment. I think the raiders can clip them. Make the raiders. Could Somehow Clip Schon Payton in his buddy in John grooten being I guess Sean Payton's mentor. Did they go to New England? Playoff team get obviously very different without Tom Brady. They've got Buffalo at home playoff team. Then they have to go to Kansas City. The defending Super Bowl champions there is not a single software out there. I don't think that they're going to get the they're gonNA get owned four or five. I should say but key if they get out of there with three wins. Look the hell out if they got. I think they're I think they can go into. I think that's a three to schedule. For where the three Carolina New Orleans in who Carolina New Orleans and New England. So you think they start three. No well I actually do. Actually do actually do. The raiders started off hot last year. They Kabbadi they started off where you wait a minute. Wait a minute this look different. I'm going seeing here. They got off to a bad start last year. Was it the yearbook start? Yeah they dropped a couple out of the. They wanted to through their first three. I just the way that these things tend not especially you know you mentioned what they got hot. They they dropped one or two then they got. They got hot in the middle and they had a little bit of a playoff run at that point but I just again. You look at these. Three of the first five on the road don't lose can't sitting live. Kansas City gets the opener on the season too. I was surprised that. They're getting against Houston. I thought that maybe they'd put a different opponent in there. 'cause Houston especially without Deandre Hopkins. Who knows where they played them in the playoffs? But you still got Shawn Watson so the draw and they played them in the playoffs. So you're going to get that You're going to get that game for them. But they're so after that. What it raiders. Have so they get the bye week six. They have an early by and then it gets a little bit better. They go to today Tampa in Vegas. That's a Sunday night game and then it gets a little bit easier. They've got Cleveland. They've got the chargers and they've got Denver those three in a row. Cleveland CHARGERS DENVER. But are they? Are They Easy Ito? We'LL CLIP CLEVELAND. Be EASIER WILL BAKER. Mayfield break out of his shell we'll look. Bj All of a sudden. Turn into something until I see Cleveland do something. I'm just going to assume that they're the Cleveland browns. We've been waiting for twenty years for them to be good and they haven't been because it's not. We don't need them to be good. We just wonder if they're going to be competitive because the competitive they can still clip a good team. You know fair I think they I think the Cleveland browns will be better this year than they were a year ago. I honestly do I think there's some stability there with the coaching staff. I think that they'll get Baker Mayfield to play better gotta remember. Stansky came from the Minnesota Vikings so he got cousins to turn into a playoff-caliber quarterback so I think he could potentially get them to where they need to be where people don't bag on them as much as in the past. Then they've got the chiefs again. They get the chiefs the second time on chief. Stunning Chiefs GonNa work. Though the last seven games of their schedule they got Atlanta. The jets the colts the chargers again Miami Denver. Those last seven games feels like there's five six wins easy in their Seattle. I don't I'm not. I'm not ready to cash on Denver yet it just give Denver away. They got von Miller. They like a lock that they drew lock. They like him. They went out and got not one. Put three receivers. They already had a big receiver. They went out and got a running back. I mean I I just I think Denver. I think dimmer going to be different than what we think. Be Different football team. They started to play better towards the end of the year to. Let's take a look at the different part of the schedule. A great part of the schedule Monday night schedule is legit right out of the gate up until about ten. It's nothing but Great Games. That's coming up next on the morning show on seven ten. Espn so Sunday night. Football guys has been the the spot that gets the best games for the simple reason that they are able to flex in the second half of the season. They're able to put the the games that they want in that schedule. The Monday night schedule is locked the end so you kind of have to cross your fingers in hope that though the stars stay healthy and that the teams we think are going to be good are going to be good because if this schedule is as good as it looks like. They're going to have the best Monday nights late in a really really long time. Keep you just mentioned it. That the week. Two matchup between the saints and the raiders. That that's going to be a great game. It's the opening of their new stadium in Las Vegas. You've got a team with drew brees quarterback that's going to be great. Then you go to week three right after that you got kids city and Baltimore the two teams that talked about yesterday in the AFC if it's not one of those two teams who it might be in the first three weeks. You've got two games that you absolutely can't miss know it. I mean I know Vegas may not be up and running fully bodies time but just assume that it is. Can you imagine what Vegas is? GonNa look like man Monday night. Gang Raj had to chime in. Of course it's going to be crazy. You know it's GonNa be wild. Southwest Airlines will be flying in from New Orleans. Every thirty seconds game was going to be wild and then you talk about the Kansas City. Baltimore Game I mean that one two quarterbacks to futurity. Nfl just they got it right. I mean but I always feel like the Monday night. Match-ups always good beginning to. It just depends on how team shakeout dog start out. Good March doesn't look too good. Well that's that's the one through real. Titans were the AFC championship game Afc Championship game. Like I told you last segment. I don't know if you can't discount out the Denver broncos yet I just don't I what they've done is important. John Elway has done. There's been impressive this off season. I'm not unlike what he's done this off season. I like the direction that they're headed now whether or not there translates on the field. That's another thing but what they've done. I'm like okay. Let's see let's see so you try to do some so Casey in Baltimore in week three week. Four you get the Falcons and the packers. So you've got Aaron Rodgers against that Ryan that's another really exciting matchup and Atlanta started playing better toward the end of the year Atlanta had one of the weirdest Adenjer ever GonNa see. They got off to a good start and then they were literally the worse team football for about two months and then they were good again at the end it was just bizarre and they got todd. Gurley now so everybody wants to see what that looks like week twelve. The chargers go to New Orleans. That's another good knows maybe Justin Herbert displayed by their. Maybe tyrod Taylor's got him cook and you still have the saints tool what they do. You got the cardinals. Kyla Murray going to Dallas to take on the cowboys. That's a really good match. The cardinals had on Monday. They this sneak in there once in a while quarterback. Yeah probably Prague with what was it. Ditty green if you want to crown their assets that go crowd on Monday night game. I don't know how long that was. That happened on Monday night. Football you've got the you've got the rams in the bears on Monday night and week seven to it's just it out of the gate. It's just one game. After the next year bears gain will be a good one. No it the matchup certainly have been put together. Preseason away to you want your schedule to look. It just depends on now on what those teams turn out to be. Go to go to the chiefs for a second. We know that they're going to open the season. They're going to take on the The Houston Texans. We know that they got Lamar Jackson in the Ravens Week. Three Monday night football. Does it feel like we're at the beginning and I don't want to say a patriots run because that took twenty years. We're probably never going to see that again. But we in the little sweet spot maybe a five six seven year window with the chiefs or not. GonNa win the Super Bowl every year. But they're gonNA be the team to beat every year for the next five or six years they're going to be one of the five teams be one of the four teams better yet in in the preseason at AFC that you talk about going to the Super Bowl you know. They're gonNA flip one year. They'll be favored to win it all the next year two in winning all day no drop down to three comeback four. Go back up to one. That's what the winter that you're in because these other teams that are good to the pro. Here's here's one of the biggest problems that you have with the New England patriots dynasties outside of the Pittsburgh steelers in the Baltimore Ravens. There was really no other team that you looked at in the AFC. It was like Oh man. They don't be ridiculous. I mean Denver had that when they got peyton. That was kind of you know that that kicked him to the to the next level but other than that. You never felt like the Indianapolis Colts who's going to the Super Bowl every single year when they have paid many because Peyton manning neom couldn't do nothing with the New England patriots in everybody knew that so that a function of the function the colts being bad that was a function of the Patriots beating credible. Well yes it was a fun but they always have to run into them. A run into the Pittsburgh steelers the chiefs though that. Everybody's gotTa Run through Patrick Mahomes. It's not no I can't no no. I'M NOT GONNA say that. No because these other teams like the Baltimore Ravens or right now. Even though they didn't win the championship they somewhat or on even footing with the Kansas City chiefs because remember to Kansas City had to fight back in these playoffs the New England patriots when it was on they run. They wouldn't down by double digit touchdowns and having a make miracle comebacks. You better ask your talking's if that's true one. Damn when they were on their miracle run. You keep when you look at Kansas City though and I'll give you the rates. I'll give you the ravens that they could knock that thing back and forth a lot like the steelers and the Patriots did and my crystal ball doesn't work right now but I'm not seeing anybody else in the. Afc leads me to believe that you know what they're going to be able to give Patrick mahomes and Lamar Jackson a good run. I don't see that Denver. I don't see that in the I don't see that other team in the AFC right now. Well one of the reasons you know. See it because we haven't seen what India looks like with Philip Rivers. We haven't seen Pittsburgh again with Ben Rothlisberger coming back. We haven't had a chance to see a retooled raider team after three years. Moving to Vegas. We don't know what the charges are going to look like with Justin Herbert. It's almost like if you replace Tom. Brady and put him with the charges charges. Go ahead if you put Cam Newton with the chargers. Do they go ahead? Do you feel like tyrod. Taylor is good enough. No is Justin Herbert good enough. No so what's the one thing that they could be missing in with the chargers their quarterback everything else. We like right. I mean it's just a quarterback is so until we actually see it..

raiders Kansas City New Orleans Denver chargers AFC football chiefs Las Vegas New England New England patriots Cleveland Cleveland browns Baltimore Tom Brady Justin Herbert Pittsburgh steelers Atlanta Baker Mayfield

"What we're about to do. That's about to check in with front office. Insider Amine joining us on the spread people's hotline. Good morning our things. I'm actually played that song for her. That point and that in the show's history and you guys had a multi platinum recording artist. You play that for her. Let her know that she don't own her stuff. But once it goes out in the universe anyone could do with it. They could sample it. If you're in hip hop or like me you can do like a remix. A me my friend. Do you believe that we're going to have regular season game then the post-season just straight postseason or a display season all together on the other side of this? Let's say you I been very consistent about this Pretty much two weeks into the the the shutdown. I don't think we're GONNA have into and I just don't see I got that. I follow the news and none of it is encouraging as far as the science goes of how to safely do this. And I know that commissioner silver's very focused on the safety of everybody involved. He has to be optimistic. He has to kind of allow things to play out before he can make any definitive statements. But I don't see him from where I sit here no no. I don't think that we're going to have an end to the season. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am well when you look at what's happening right now. I mean teams are going into building right. Organizations at went back in their buildings. Starting today. I believe in so it certainly is pointing in the right direction. Now GonNa have five on five practicing. But the fact that they're walking in the building allowing people in the building at distancing in whatever numbers at per per hour whatever it is that they are going to do the fact that they are letting people in the building and we're opening up certain parts of the country from time to time is certainly seems to me that they will be something coming down the pipeline sooner rather than later I. Think misleading Key here's the F. The NBA had just come out. And say you know what? I think we're ready. You know things are starting to look up. Let's start open the facilities slowly but surely then I would agree with you. That's the first step towards a return but that's not what happened here. What happened is some state had a political decision of when but what about like the governor of the state decided all right. Let's start opening things up and one of the things that still is open up and so what was happening was teams. Were getting questions in their players in. Hey where I live. They're opening the gym. Is it cool if I go hit up lifetime fitness a twenty four hour or crunch or whatever to get a workout in because it's legal now and The NBA rightfully. I don't want our players going into public dems who God knows how well or how poorly maintained they're going to be and maybe catch something right so if you guys are. GonNa go and work out because they don't have workout equipment. A facility is wherever they live. Let's give them a safe place to do. This is just basically a reaction to what the decision making has been in some of these states and the proof of that is in the states where gyms are not open. We don't have that Happening for MBA facilities. It's not like the Lakers can start going back to their facility. Not Quite yet. At least they're trying to work something out with the governor but again this is all in reaction to what local government has done rather than reaction to the science. And what you were saying. He is more what would happen if the science that we could start going back to working on back again. We're talking with L. Housing. Espn front office inside on these sprint people's hotline amid we've been spending a ton of time talking about the last dance we've seen the first six episodes episodes seven and eight coming up on Sunday evening. Six o'clock on ESPN WH- what's the biggest takeaway for you? So far through the first six episodes you know for me. I won't lie a lot of stuff that I knew. But it's different to see happen. It's different exceed the People. Talk about it the behind the scenes up at the moment and and and kind of in that. That's I opened so great example story of Jordan wearing the flag the cover the Reebok logo. That wasn't something that was revealed last Sunday. Matter of fact that was something at the time in one thousand nine hundred ninety two. That was a big story the day after that game. And and so we've known this our whole lot or at least as best known as our whole lives and obviously Jackson account a book and we had a big documentary by Dream Team. Also known as we've known it well but Sunday night I saw for the first time Michael Jordan right in Barcelona. I got something for days. You know what tomorrow that's shocking. I didn't know it was like that. Like he on cameras telling you how he's plotting to do this on the day the next day the gold medal. So that is the kind of stuff that really blows me. Away is when there's documentation of these things again. We knew Jerry Krause and Mike Jordan had a poor relation but I never seen walking around talking about Yo. Don't smoke a cigar stunt your growth. How many have before or heard those words audibly before that that was my first time seeing actual example the thing that hurt about since nineteen ninety whatever nineteen ninety three. I guess so the real big takeaway for me And then of course my man the turn to the security guard. Hey I don't care who you are man if you didn't get a kick out of that part of the document or you didn't look at the documentary and you look at the way. The Scottie Pippen is portrayed in the beginning so to speak because Michael hadn't anything about the contract and he called Scotty selfish any talk about the migraine. Is this poor by Michael or are we making too big of a deal about it in trying to drum it up for whatever reason say this? I think a lot of people should this feeling with me but I. I'm not sure but for most people if you are you are in your consistent with it. We've pretty much accepted as long as I know what I'm getting. I can't be disappointed when I get it. And in that sense. Scotty no Michael there. He was around him around him much more. Any of us knows what the real much to the hear him. Status Wa Scott. Who probably obviously doesn't agree. I'm sure doesn't come as a shock to him and I can't believe Michael would say the thing about me. This is this is the premium to you. GotTa see everything with Michael Jordan. Scottie selfish selfish. Because basically Scotty is taking a stand on a closet doesn't impact me and is affecting cause a dozen attack me in this case. He's on his contract. Which has nothing to do with me. But it's impacting my ability to win a championship. Michael during the whole thing is we're trying to win a championship and everything else. That doesn't go along with that. Goal is quote unquote selfish to him because it has nothing to do with him and I think that is something for people who've been around Michael. No that's how they kinda you. Kinda just accepted. You know. That's how I mean is. Just that's how that's his life view and so in that sense much like you know what Ki- like his hall of fame speak knows of us who inside that circle? Who Know who you've been like. Yeah that's Michael Jordan. But there's a vast majority millions if not billions of people who watch that speech and are watching this documentary whom I. Michael is such a crazy competitive holiday yet. We've been known this but but again it's fun to see it. Actually the words coming out of his mouth and also it's fun to watch examples from back. Then I mean. Do you believe that the Bulls would have been able to have kept the dysfunction to a certain degree when Kansas Jerry? Krause quiet if they were doing that today. Not a elsie. There's no way I mean. Think about if you know. And it's hard to compare because Phil Jackson obviously at that point. Four five typically really storied coach at that point but imagine it's the warriors at the beginning of last year the last year Kevin Durant to us because they come back doesn't matter if you're gonNA eight hundred eighty two bombers the adver job if you do that right there's just there's no way you can handle things poorly and we're not even. GonNa get into the social media aspect of how the secret nowadays on just think the way. They publicly handled this. There's no way that guy survived because at the end of the day. Yes you put thing together year. She deserve credit but to keep the thing going. We don't need you there other qualified people in this world who can keep this thing going. It's not like she's a complete mastermind. Who was betting thousand on every move? Yeah so yeah. I think he was out of a Job. A Lot. Faster than us Back then play for Joe nowadays than they did back. Then why are we so forgiving back? Then I mean clearly. It was a dumpster fire and a lot of ways but it was characterized not as such December because they were Winnie. Yeah I think the success L. Not like don't you know don't forget now like people. I think this is crazy. This is crazy. I can't believe he's going to happen but you know it was so successful. I think we all thought not seeing that but you know they don't get back together to God. You can't bring up a good thing. Whatever and I think in a sense Jerry. Yeah you're playing a game of chicken. He was saying why fired our coach. Am I going to say if you find a coach? I'm not coming back and we'll see we'll see if you really don't like put your money where your mouth is because my roommate thirty million dollars at that point so I just think it's a game of chicken probably went bad on Jerry crowds back. Then people were saying this is crazy but we didn't really believe it would happen. Espn front office insider immed- L. Housing on the sprint. People sought line of me going to talk with you. Thanks so much. A real quick. I her keyshawn his favorite video game pinball machine. That's not what I mean. I mean that's not what I see. So whoever put that trashing your ear it okay. I think we don't call. Don't look silly mess around with that. I keep down. Whoever put that in your head don't allow them to put you in that position. You Smart. It's not as favorite but it's an IT's tough Tan. Clearly top four wrong thanks. We'll talk to you. Got It all right. Let you defend tidball key. Plus really get into the raiders schedule. That's coming up next on the morning show instead of ten. Espn GEICO gets you access to licensed agents twenty four seven which means that. Geico is always there for you. "Good morning everybody hopes is getting off to a great start. T go ahead and correct the record. Sounds like to me Chris. Paralysis getting lazy at his damn job puts this narrative out there as Sean mcvay pick Marcellus the beat me and they went to super bowl. It was not the same year. So let's stop trying to put that out there like that. Did go to the play offs. They went to the playoffs. They've made it. They squeaked into the playoffs they got popped as quick in. They wanted to be pros time. Be Quiet this not much longer. Don't Stop Fan Against Chris. Making stuff up. Is that what you know? Chris is making that up saying that the reason I said that they was gonNA win. Four Games is because Sean McVeigh Pick Marcellus to win the marquee race which he did not win by the way. The Rams went to the playoffs that year. Not the Damn Super Bowl EYEGLASS STREET. You'll remember them trying to fake it. It makes. It seem like I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't like that pisses me off. I don't remember that he's right about the time is right about the time. Line another state in sports history followed. Not only did Willis. Reed play three minutes at a basketball game. But also another EPA. The Denver Nuggets took out the Sonics as an eight seed over number one. The first time we've ever seen that that also happened may eight with back in nineteen ninety four. That was a hell of a series man. I remember that as just absolutely incredible to have to sit there and watch the campaign Matombo. Who can't score a bucket? Just dominate a series. The way that he dead and then exposed Shawn Kemp. That was I was like. I thought the rainman couldn't be stopped. Oh he ain't got no moves. Oh man didn't handle moves right right. Man Had One jab step up to the man. I was sure though he could do something. Besides just trying to duck. Oh people mainly Dominique Wilkins man. You know we've talked so much about the iconic moments that we've seen in the Jordan series but that's another one of those moments with decamping tumble line on the floor clutching the ball. I could see that vividly. You know what I mean. That's just that's one of those things happened. Nineteen ninety-four I mean we're talking about sixteen or excuse me twenty six years ago and I could see like it was yesterday. Was he on the six fifteen with? Yeah Yeah Yeah trade it up the Radio Radio Okay. So the schedule is out the twenty twenty. Nfl schedule is al-Qaeda's. Go through the rams schedule game by game. It gives us an idea is going to happen the week one. Dallas COWBOYS COMING TO LA to open s-o-f-i stadium. How does it go the Dallas cowboys come in and they get the victory I think Dallas has a better team roster in got a superior coach now and they're set out after being fired from the Green Bay packers so whatever he said he learned something from and I think he just has a better team then he had at the end in Green Bay. He picks up a better team with the Dallas cowboys. Amari Cooper DOT PRESS. GotTa go on and on and on about the defense and what they have the defense coordinator and Mike Nolan former head coach. So this is essentially what? Sean McVeigh entered his first couple years. With the rams you bring in a quality defense a head coach. That used to be a head coach. Mike Nolan same thing as Philip. You got a quarterback that is pretty good that you just need to get on the same page that Prescott. Kind of like a jared Goff. You got two running back in a girly like a Zeki. Oh l. each got some offense align may so you got some pieces that are already in place and I don't think Mike McCarthy forgot how to coach football So you know it's going to be a good game but I think the rams dropped his month okay so a loss out of the game. Then they go on the road for back to back. Games Philadelphia in week two at the eagles are they. Are they lose that game in Philadelphia's will I think Philadelphia comes out you know it's the beginning of the year too fast fast paced type deal Carson wentz has a lot to prove. They've retooled some things on their offense in terms to the skill positions gone out got a plethora wide receivers. They help him out. I think that the rams start off owing to all right. Do they start chasing? Does this do do they start three. They got to go to buffalo after Philly another road game in the east. No they get their act together because they're sitting there on the east coast and they're trying to figure out what went wrong. In those first two games they get back to the drawing board they muster up some schemes to go to Buffalo. It's not code is a hostile environment buffalo. Whatever little bit of crowd is in? The stadium is jacked up ready to go. They take care of business in Buffalo. All right they get their first win of the season in buffalo they come back to La. The New York giants are next. They win football game. It's the first win in the new state. Giants aren't quite the're they got a better football team. A better coach than the giants. They run away with this one. We see the rams exploded onto the scene. They hang up forty five. Forty forty five points on his defensive giants. The giants only allow the giants. Only because somehow figure out how to get seventeen all right so to into the first quarter of the season back to the east coast again. This time Washington. Yeah they take care of business against the redskins. It won't be one of those situations where you know the. They're struggling like they did against the Philadelphia. Eagles in Dallas Cowboys. They go in they annihilate Haskins now all of a sudden the boo birds come out for the Washington redskins and then the rams are rolling all right so they are three game winners in a row at another road game. This time the first divisional game of the season in San Francisco against the niners. It's going to be a tough one San Francisco Steele Matt from loss that in the Super Bowl. The forty niners retool their defense with to Devante law a first round pick replacing buckner. They also get a receiver in the kid from Arizona. State now all of a sudden this team looks like the team that ended the season last year in San Francisco. The Rams are not good enough to go to Frisco it beat them they catch a nail all right three and three through the first six five hundred team. The bears on Monday night in Suffice Stadium Chicago. Bears have a lot of turmoil. Going on defense lights out. They do exactly what you expect them to do from a defensive standpoint but they go to nick foles at the quarterback spot now Aaron Donald In. That defense is chomping at the bit to get at him. The problem that you have though is that defenses. Chicago is geared up and ready to go they drop it to the Chicago. Bears is so fi state. That's the first one key that I if they lose that game. I think that's what's them in certain spot in that season because that's one of those games at all against the bears team that I don't think too many people picking them go into the playoffs. That would be that would be a bad loss. The other ones that you've put out there. They make them think the Chicago bears PAT team. They got the same Chicago bears. They got the same problem at the Tampa. Bay buccaneers quarterback is held him back. They held him back. Nick foles though has been much better in a relief role than in a starting role. Yeah but he's coming in remember he's coming in as a starter in an offense that he's accustomed to being in. You gotta remember that. Now he's been in the same office basically his entire career. So it's Kinda like you expect for him to Kinda get on all cylinders. Just do enough. Lean heavy on the defense again after the Rams and so-fi stadium. That's just a prediction doesn't mean to happen. Just prediction the final game in the first half of the season the game before their by all the way back to the east coast again. This time. The Miami Dolphins they get this one. They clip the dolphins. They you know there's no to in effect fifty fifty magic. He doesn't have any more left. The Miami Dolphins are still looking to get a first round pick the following year. So it's kind of like. They should win this football game. Be Happy on a long trip back to la before they buy all right so they go no by week nine. They pick up the second half of the season after going forward for in the first half. They've got what has been traditionally their most competitive division opponent the Seattle Seahawks in s-o-f-i stadium. The Rams get Seattle in so-fi stadium. They beat up on the seahawks. The seahawks for some reason with sleep walking they just kind of did hadn't gotten their act together. They play tough all the time. But this is one of those games where the SEAHAWKS is mesmerized by the big and they wind up losing a game. Now I beat Seattle that go back to the east coast again if you're keeping score that's Philly Buffalo Washington Tampa that's five trips to the east coast. How do they do against the blocks and Tom Brady? It's going to be bickering. And they lose this one. Tom Brady pumping a fist. Monday night. Football I'm Tom Brady. Nobody can touch me. I'm the greatest of all times. I got my buddy rock. Next to me they lose this football game but not a bad one well. They do everything they're supposed to do. Before whatever reason Bruce Arians along with Todd Bowles has shaw McVeigh's number no matter who the quarterback is they win it two times consecutive consecutive wins against the rams in a row one out here last year with the famous Jamison and now all of a sudden Tommy Tommy takes care of them in Tampa all right so they get San Francisco for the second time this time in suffice dating had dropping the game up at Levi stadium how do they do in La. They dropped this one to the San Francisco. Forty niners again. I don't like where you are not quite ready to win this game against Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy Garoppolo is coming into his at this point in time in the season. He's got he's connecting big time to cashing the rams and the running game. They're doing everything that you would expect a type of Super Bowl caliber team to do. They basically blow the rams out at a new stadium. Okay so that at this point you have the rams five and six they go back on the road to take on Arizona's for the first time this this season that keep in mind the Arizona. Cardinals have been a punching bag for the rams. And Sean mcvay. Since Sean mcvay taken over they have not lost Arizona Nali. They're not lost to him. They absolutely dominated them does. Continue that continues. Easy peasy they just go down and take care of business get their record to five hundred and try to scratch their heads and figure out how to back door into the playoffs all right so five hundred going into the final quarter of the season the Patriots Bill. Check so-fi stadium Thursday night. Football Bill. Belichick comes in takes care of business long trip from Boston. But he's such a great coach that he musters up this great defensive scheme to slow down jere go. There's no todd Gurley to worry about Cam. Anchor Cam acres is not doing the things that they expected him to do. Therefore the running game does not help jared Goff. Jared Goff has disasters of a game. Bill checking that defense does his job. They lose this game. The New England patriots in everybody on Seventeenth Sports Talk. Radio is wondering..

"Seventy six yards zero touchdowns? Eighteen targets the season. I mean that's not that's not going to get all right. Listen coming up next to become the best segment of here the GM shop. Let's not going anywhere. It's how homeland gets shittier. According to Michael Lombardi plus we discuss the untimely passing a former. Nfl quarterback to our shack and do not go anywhere. All right sad news to pass along here in the NFL former NFL quarterback Jackson dying in a car crash in Alabama on Sunday night. Just thirty six years of age he was killed on the two thousand twelve. Chevrolet Camaro he was driving left. The roadway struck a tree and overturn. This is a guy who joined Tennessee state university as the Tigers. Quarterbacks coach twenty nine thousand nine hundred and was after coaching Alabama state has alma mater for a year during his tenure career with the. Nfl accumulated forty five career. Touchdowns Shirley remember who the Minnesota Vikings. This is really sad. News my thirty six years of age and he's gone. Yeah it really is. It's horrible. I mean it's horrible everyday to turn on the news and read about these tragic deaths of corona virus and you know and even though the numbers are well below what they told us a week ago. That's tragic and then to hear the news taveras a young man. You know work hard you know had had had a good career. There was a time where people thought he could be the starting quarterback in the NFL forget all the NFL career. You know starting then as a coach in this is kind of the news that just makes at the this heartening. It's very sad. Feel badly for the whole family. Night is very very sad. Indeed so I forsake you said. Tragic News there. We hope everybody is staying safe right now. Dealing with Kobe. Nineteen as well as they can in terms of pop culture and stuff that we're doing with just to keep ourselves occupied homeland as bad as it gets you talked. You talked about as good as it gets. This is as bad as it gets right first of all. I want to say this. I got a call from somebody. This week. Told me a great story about his dad. Getting a double clap from Sinatra. Like to me. I might not ever wash my that would have been the ultimate I made. I finally found somebody who it's like. This is like ancestry. You're you're digging back in time. You know but I finally found somebody who got a double clap from Sinatra. That's the most amazing thing of all but homeland. Jesus Christ. How bad can it get? You talked about the rams like homeland is the version of the rams. Okay so she gets shot in the neck by needle right. She wakes up. She walks out to the square. She finds an old friend who has a truck. She jumps in the truck with him. She starts writing down. Shit that she remembers from the crammer quarter. She makes him drive them all away to some air force base. It is in this hostile country. She gets out of the truck. Okay no big deal on an air force base that's guarded by the Americans which we pay billions billions to guard. She walks right in meets one of the helicopter. Operators starts talking to him. You know then all no no big deal walks backout hops back in the truck. The truck could have been filled with explosive right. No big deal. It sits there the whole time. Were we'll keep going. Then he walks back out comes back in shits back in the car goes back trying to track down. Meanwhile she gets she sees. The Russian capture tries to negotiate with him. Like who is writing this shit like who is writing this shit like at some point and then then they insult our intelligence by having these meetings with the president that looked like nobody knows what they're doing no pun intended. Nobody knows what they're doing right. And it's it's salting like at some point when somebody was in the writing room. Didn't somebody say this is just really like ridiculous. I can only imagine George Tenet the former CIA director good book by the way he wrote. You know watching homeland and say. That's the dumbest Shit I've ever seen in my life like seriously like who's who's writing this like. How can they do this? How many more episodes are other until we can ourselves out of this misery only to die? I mean if they don't kill her if they don't kill her I mean enough already like they gotta kill it like put her to sleep like you know she. She was once a good character. You know but we gotta put her to sleep like at some point. It's the end like this can't go on and I mean I like Mandy Patinkin actors actor. We love is walk. I mean he's always in a hurry. I don't know where he's going but he's always in a hurry. You know but the reality of it is. It's so bizarre. It's so weird and bizarre you know and then last week they have a checkpoint where they let this guy drive the explosives right into the checkpoint. Like you think that's going to happen. I mean like like that's why we pay billions to secure our borders and to make sure that shit like that doesn't I mean it's just it's it's going so far out there like like I just look at billion like it's like it's so bad and I watch it. I mean I I guess the moral the story is they've captivated me in that bad can captivate you as much as good to hate. Watch at this point. You're doing it as research here for the GM shuffled elaborate know. Just how bad the show is and by the way I do love Mandy Patinkin. I mean that Beardie has a Saul is unbelievable. Every time I'd see him on talk shows completely shaved ever homeland was dumped the season. You couldn't wait to shave and then grow that monstrous beard again. But that relationship Acumen Carry. It used to make sense now. It's just ridiculous. Oh they're all you know. They swore this oath to to follow the. There's an oath of allegiance that you have and no no rules. Apply to any of them like they just go off. They're all rogue like it they're all rogue you know it's like at some point it's just so bad but I gotta you know it's just I don't know I mean I started watching bank heist on that flight and I really liked that and I'm looking forward to the Michael Jordan documentary on Sunday on ESPN. I hated hated horse. Did you watch any of the Horse? Hate it no I said why would I care like why am I watching a bunch of MBA guys playing a horse? Tell me how was I zero interest? That was really bad like I. It was bad it was bad video. It was it was bad. I mean we got I mean. I'd Rather Watch Bobby Fisher play chess with somebody To me that's how boring it was. I mean not that. I don't think chess chess is a great game to study kind of hard to watch because there's so many so much time between moves but that's what it felt like. I mean it was horrible. You know I mean I could just go back and watch you know the Tony and some seen in the SOPRANOS BE BEACON Y. Y You know you know Uncle Junior. I I saw seen this week member and member when Tony and Adriana got in that car accident and then the telephone and then the telephone lines. Light up where you know. They all like they're claiming that Adriana was was was doing something to Tony in the car and that's junior says I heard. She had her mouth lose Brazil. Having I heard that line today and I think that somebody else said the largest cause of traffic accidents in America is like. There's such comedy within within that. I mean like at some point. Somebody should homeland. She just like watch a couple of episodes of that show. Yeah I mean even the episode irregular around the margins title. I mean that was a crazy episode because it just shows you right how gossip one little thread becomes one time. If one person knows eleven people that was the perfect encapsulation of that idea no doubt no doubt and and you know look it's just it. Gossip can spread. And I think that's what we're dealing with today. That's how Jalen hurts is kind of be now in the first round. We're just we're just everybody's talking everybody's just it makes no sense at all. There's no documentation to why hurts. Would be starting quarterback in the NFL. I mean there's really not yet but yet it we're gonNA keep going down that road one last thought because we talked about last week or with a surprise we doing during covert nineteen epidemic and Tonio be sitting in his basement. Eating ice cream watch in black and white war movies. Polly terrified to leave the house. I was thinking about Silvio and the bottom being like he'd be so ruthless in terms of getting salary he'd just picture this he'd have all the strippers working but wearing masks and there is still be like some degenerates still going to pay off. The the you know. The He'd pay off the police force to make sure he could stay open because he would justify it as being essential to the workplace to be open. I mean you know he would have somebody on the payroll I may. Could you imagine him in their first of all? Could you imagine how long it would take to clean that place? I mean just go in there and see and sanitize that place out there. The you know the where the back room is the pictures on the wall. I whoever designed that room was like perfect. Like that's an a plus no question about it and last night here Frank Sinatra the main event which. I did watch Amazon prime. Maybe haven't seen if you'RE SINATRA. Fini got to see it. I Mike and I spoke during the week but you mentioned the Double Club. I just like when Frank got out there. He literally just says she gets hungry. And the whole crowd goes nuts. Because they know he's innocent. This lady is a tramp and Louis the crowd they got Robert Redford the crowd alward Tuxedos. There was amazing just to see the ambiance to that place it really was. I would recommend people. Watch that or the Jerry. Weintraub documentary on. Hbo About How he put that thing together. It's really remarkable and their timeless. I mean they truly are timeless. And you know some of these things that you can watch are now that we have some free time to watch him or just just just flat out incredible and look. Sinatra the generations. We say you know Lombardi your old you watch. I think there's going to be generations as we move forward. That are going to continue to watch that. I think that there's certain things in life that are timeless and I just happened to think he happens to be one of a love it. We are going to keep on breaking. Nfl draft like nobody else all right Monday Wednesday Friday three new episode next week Monday Wednesday. Of course previewing. Friday recapping the first round. That'll be exciting. "Because next week is of course a draft. We've got lots of episodes coming up next week. Monday and Wednesday and Friday recapping the first round but Mike as. I'm going through some old movies here. I had to Rewatch a simple plan again and I tweeted about it and I talked about on brothers. Dole forget Lombardi mention it in his book to quote from Gridiron. Genius have you seen as simple plan? It's a movie that's all but how biased can compound unoriginal mistake. There simple plan begins to unravel almost immediately. Everyone loses no because they doubled down instead of cutting their losses. The same thing happens if football offices a draft. A crash boat necessarily destroyed team but sticking to a plan because of that disaster always will well done. Yeah I love that movie. I thought there's it resonated especially when you look at some of the things that are going on in the NFL. I think there's lessons to learn in all of it and you know you know the the bears hanging onto trubisky. The you know I mean really the simple plan. The Rams could. It's GonNa be a documentary at some point and you know that when you break down what the rams have done over the last twelve months since they. They scored three points in the Super Bowl. I mean this is really been a an unbelievable run and it's a simple plan. The plan was to get to the Super Bowl. But now it's all unraveled. I mean think about this. Ad fifty percent of their roster from the eighteen season will no longer be on their team this year. Fifty percent of the playtime won't be on the team this year. And you know. They traded cooks away and really cooks. The trade of cooks had they done anything anything other than trade for cooks or even if they traded for cook say they didn't sign him to an extension or say they just let them play out or go the franchise any move they made with cooks would have been a better move than what they ended up with. Yeah and it's reality. And and the amazing thing is because people love Kevin them off and less need that no one's given them shit about it like no one's like this is the ultimate mismanagement of a team that you could ever possibly have. But no one saying everybody's picking on poor Bill O'Brien you know. God knows he gets his ass killed right you know? He's the dumbest human being of all time. Meanwhile the rams are sitting there with one good player you know not even you know. He's an average player. Jared Cook and a roster. That's what if I were to say to you. Riddle me this Batman. Who was the last first round? Pick of the rams would your answer be my God. I wouldn't even know I would. I would have thought it was jared. Goff who is it? That's what it is. It's Jared Goff. Two Thousand Six Jeff Fisher actually has made more first round picks than Sean. Mcvay wow I mean that's absurdity. 'cause you're right. Everyone keeps crushing bill. Like Oh my God okay. How do you think that Hopkins had him? You Got Really Am Okay Now folks. But you're right the rams when you look at. This is the expression that I loved by because it really does. Emphasize how bad is dead. Money right he gets so much money because this captures and dead money. The Rams are leading the League in dead money. Like what are you doing what you think the rams would go out immediately and hire somebody who would be contrary to their ideas like we need to hire somebody who's going to sit in an office next to us and say well we have this idea to trade for Brandin cooks. Let's have an idea like if just say they don't trade for Brandin cooks. Say they stay in the first round that you know that that draft I think Ridley your Dj more would have been available to them right. Yeah so they could have had somebody right put. Dj More on their team with five year contract without having but something go. I mean there's something in the water there that is and I think that the simple plan that you talked about on sinophile and the lessons you can learn from. That are remarkable. I got one for you. I was flipping the channels the other night million. I what are we going to watch? What are we going to watch right? And as good as it gets is on demand I clicked it. Yes if there's ever a movie that people should watch during the corona virus and understand I look I think Melvin udalls. There's parts of Melvin Udall despicable. His racist behavior is despicable but his his take on washing his hands throwing the bar soap away not stepping on cracks obsessive compulsive that only. Jack Nicholson could play to a T. The line of the movie is how do you write women so well I think of a man and I take away reason and accountability. I mean like that movie. That movie is the essence of what? We're going through right here now. I mean he's lived that life. I wonder how somebody you're right with. Oh CDs living right now. 'cause you're right you're constantly washing your hands and it's crazy and you're right that scene in particular. I mean this is young beautiful blonde leaving his as itself office and he gives you a lot lots of the other great with him and Helen Hunt Table and she says you better give me a competent. And he says you make me want to be a better man and she says that might be the nicest thing I've ever heard. He said well maybe. I overshot Lopez. Abc Just enough to keep walking out. He so good. You know what I did realize after after I watched that I went back and I you know that movie made three hundred and fourteen million dollars. Wow three hundred and fourteen million comedy geared toward adults. There's no superheroes. There's no young people in the movie. It's just a solid smart funny kind movie and they both went. Oscars Nicholson Helen Hunt. Three or fourteen million. That's crazy and Verdel. The dog should have won an Oscar. I mean let's be real honest I mean I I was looking at Bella and I was looking at bell. I'm like Bella like seriously. You're underachieving here for Dell's kicking your ass like seriously. He's Verdel is not stepping on cracks. Right you know for Dell's Verdel understands who to be loyal to. I mean seriously belly. You GotTa Take Your game up another notch Greg Kinnear by the way fantastic as well academy award nominee for best supporting actor. Who JUST GETS ABUSED BY? Melvin Udall. All Right. Let's get to the football last week. Mike you broke the news. It blew up everywhere that Teams had failed to file as physical. And you said it wasn't just as hip injury that was worrying teams a host of other injuries including a broken wrist. So listen everyone's talking about it now. Of course to win is aging now. We're totally fine. Were good to go. What actually happened. What's the latest you can tell us about the injury? I mean the person who told me it was. It was the fifth metatarsal so he broke that. That's what he broke the first day of Spring Ball. Then he had that fixed and then he broke that again. So look that that. You can't deny the injuries you as we talked about last week. You can't and I and I've talked to more and more teams you know. And this whole notion that Lombardi spreading this bad will about to because he wants his friend Bill Belichick together like stop. Okay I don't think I should say. I don't think I know that based on the Patriots grading system is six foot quarterback would have to be really really elite over a long period of time for them to draft them. What fans don't understand is there's always these. There's grading systems within every team. Some of them are elaborate. Some of them are. You can tell the teams that do a lot of work on. We spent a Lotta time on on a great system. The giants started the system. Actually the system started with the Dallas cowboys with Gil Brandt Bucko Kilroy the former executive of the of the England patriots. He took it Dick Steinberg. All these guys they kinda modified it Bella check and I as you read the forward that he wrote my book. We spent a lot of time in in in Oakland. Excuse ME IN CLEVELAND ON IT. Talking about how we could modify. We wanted to be a size speed team. We wanted to be able to have a limit on how high you could great players based on the limitations that they had. We wanted a system that was conducive to elimination. Not Finding and so when when people throw that out there that two at sixty halls an easy target for the Patriots stop because no one their system. It's hard to get that grade high enough for him to get up there. Part of this always happens when a guy gets injury problems. What's the issue? Well you know it took. His greatest strength is his greatest weakness you know. He's so competitive. He always thinks he can hang onto the play and just throw the ball away. And that's exactly what Nick Sabin. Here's coach at Alabama said during appearance on Sports Center on. Espn on Monday. So that I think two is a great competitor. I think one of the things we've tried to talk to him about is most visit injuries. That have occurred here are because he extends plays he is not give up on a planet because he's a great competitor is certainly don't want to inhibit that spirit in any way shape or form of his also time to be smart both ankle injuries and the hip injury that he got this year all because he tried to make a play when the play had broken down. There wasn't anything there and the throw the ball away sometimes is okay. That seems like one of those lessons. Mike you have to learn the hard way and veteran quarterbacks. No better than young quarterbacks. Don't they yeah they do and I and I think the word that Nicu's there is is really revealing. I think when you breakdown Knicks verbiage and you look at the the syntax of what he was saying Any use the word you know extending the play. That word is what's that word. There is the sole reason. Why Jon GRUDEN DOT is really down on on Derek Carr? He doesn't extend the play. He doesn't make a good play out of a bad play. That fits perfectly then they can do something with it if it's not drawn up perfectly than they have all sorts of problems and I think when you break that down I think. That's the essence of why? And I think the raiders. You know really are a sneaky team in terms of potential for a landing spot for tour because when you break the raiders down last year you know seven nine. They're twenty four th in the League in scoring points you know. Their defense was atrocious but yet they were able to. Do you know some things offensively. But they couldn't really. They couldn't really capitalize on it. I mean they were twenty six in the National Football League when their quarterback threw for three hundred yards like that. That's what's that saying to you is. He can throw when he's behind but Kenny. Throw to get the lead. That's really not very good and I and I think when you look at what they were able to do. Golden Goal scoring their twenty fifth in the national football. You know they just don't have the ability to make these extended plays which next talking about with two and I think there has to be and there would be stupid if they weren't interested in trying to get to a especially where they are at twelve. Everybody has taken a a a wide receiver and they may but if you're at twelve and Tua slips two eight let's say the say he gets to eight and the and the The Panthers don't take which I don't think they will say to us and you're a twelve you can get to eight can get a Arizona could could be the beneficiaries of it but you can get eight easily. It's not that much. Maybe cost you a second round. Pick a third. It depends on actually how much how much volatility there are. I think Peter King reported today that Jacksonville's not interested in a quarterback. And that's contrary to what I've heard before because I hear Jacksonville is sleeping on all the quarterbacks. I think Jacksonville wanted out there that they're not going to take a quarterback when in fact their owner is really really kind of upset of the fact that. Hey we've passed on some really good players. Patrick Mahomes to Shawn Watson. You know whomever Lamar Jackson to go down the list right. We don't all these quarterbacks. I'm watching from my yacht in the Mediterranean play and we don't have any of them so I think that that's the two of thing I think to do. I think to a slips out of the top ten maybe do I think to ago somewhere between six and twelve. Yes that's interesting because you look at some of those march grass and they said number five dolphins. I feel like that's the team that a lot of people think could do it. There's some topic with the chargers. Could trade up to three with that line. Speak and take to us. So that that's notable. Might you think six to twelve could be more likely than let's say two to five. Yeah I think you really break down the chargers and you study them and go back and start watching some of their tape. You know defensively. They were they were really bad last year. I mean they were bad on third down they they were bad. They were bad on defending the past. They really struggled. They couldn't run the football at all. You know. And then the strength of the team. Which is Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa it or they were twenty eight in the League in sacks they were twenty eighth in the National Football League and three and out drives by their defense. You know they couldn't get any pressure on the quarterback they couldn't get off the field and I think that certainly they've tried to repair the offensive line whether it's sign and Brian Blaga trae Turner who they traded for. We'll see how well he does..

"Show with Andrew Hawkins who some you cowboys fans will remember from fourth and long Joe Thomas earlier this week Kind of made some headlines in predicting Judean cloudy would wind up signing with the Dallas Cowboys. While we were able to get joe on the podcast talk to him about it. He explained his logic. And it makes a little bit of sense. I'M NOT GONNA lie so go back on your podcast feed. You can listen to Joe and I talk it up. It was a fantastic conversation. Makes you subscribe by the way to the blog on the boys. Podcast feed you get access to all of our shows you get the Ocho every single day you get the seven five hours myself and to champion. Tony Casillas Brews in the boys. You get talking to draft Connor Livesey Miller talking all things two thousand twenty. Nfl draft getting. You prepared letting you know the guys need to know and actually later. Today on Friday were dropping an interview on top of the draft with Joe Ziya d'Ivoire Cincinnati tight end. So get ready for that you've got to episodes. And you beat podcast. Speed on Friday and while you're subscribing podcast go subscribe to the Tomahawk Show. I'm telling you I listened to it. I listen to a lot of PODCASTS. Obviously NFL podcasts. And listen to the cowboys podcast from the mothership. Listen to a lot of golf. Podcast love Nolan up and whatnot and so go check out the Tomahawk show it is great on an NFL wide level. Thursday was a big day for a couple of reasons perhaps most importantly with regards to the current climate of the World New Orleans Saints head coach. Sean Payton was diagnosed as having the corona virus covert nineteen. Espn's Adam schefter reported. That Sean Payton does indeed have it. Sean Payton had a tweet. He tweeted a photo of himself. Just kind of you know letting everybody know because the whole world was talking about him is tweet said appreciate the well wishes. I'm feeling better and fortunate to not have any of the respiratory symptoms for more days at home Hashtag bead coveted and this is the first known case of Cova Nineteen in the National Football League and obviously doesn't have anything to do with the Dallas Cowboys. Necessarily but it is worth mentioning. Look the reality here is that we have far more questions than we do answers. We do not know a lot of things. Obviously the sports world is on hold. The world world is on hold All of sports have taken a pause if you follow different sports. You've likely seen this. I mentioned Nolan up. The golf world has positive cancelled. So many different things The world of soccer worldwide soccer European soccer is completely on hold obviously the NBA MLB NHL. They've all suspended their seasons. And so we don't know when anything's coming back. That's the reality of sports at this particular moment in time in the world and the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL. They are not in the middle of their season. Obviously but they are in the middle of other action items. Obviously Free Agency has gone on although not to the most supremely technical degree that it can because physicals and medical information can't be passed around at something Joe and I talked about with regards to cloudy but for the most part free agency has been relatively normal however cove nineteen has impacted the NFL to some degree already. We know that the owners meetings at the end of March have been canceled. We've known that for a week. Now we know that the NFL draft is not going to have any public events that will obviously affect the draft itself. Unless you were planning on going and if that's the case we are certainly very sorry. I'm thinking of you and we also know that the NFL is you know altering the way. Free Agency works mentioned with the medicals and physicals and whatnot Which makes things difficult? You've likely heard about how Tom Brady was You know the situation getting him. A physical with regards to the ten years was kind of up in the air And we know that the NFL has postponed the cowboys. Because they have a new head coach. Mike McCarthy were scheduled to begin. Ota's on April. Six all teamed with new head coaches could begin as early as April sixth But that is postponed. That is at the very least right now. Up in the air it suspended just like other. Sporting events sporting situations across the world. And so with Sean. Payton testing positive for the corona virus. We don't know I mean we have no idea how this is going to impact the NFL. And so God willing it. Doesn't you know God willing? We don't hear any more positive cases and whatnot but the reality is that this is now present in the NFL. Up to this point it had been a situation where we'd seen positive cases in other sports. But with Sean Payton being diagnosed as having the krona virus were certainly thinking of and praying for Sean Payton and anybody else. It's dealing with anything. I know these are rough times and I know that people are people are starting to go through all their Netflix and read a bunch of books. And and hopefully listen to a bunch of CA- PODCASTS and play Video Games. Whatever the case may be again. We hope you're happy. We hope sale for you. Hope you're healthy and we hope that we can make your day just a little bit better. But so we'll see we'll see what the effects of Sean Payton's diagnosis have on the national football league with regards to the NFL. Something else happened something that I was kind of surprised at how I mean. How what the reaction was to this because this was sort of predictable is not the right word. But if you've been watching enough if you've been paying attention you're expecting this. I think the Los Angeles Rams released running back. Todd Gurley on Thursday and todd. Gurley is the latest In terms of running backs that have been paid to not live up to it to ultimately kind of fizzle out and not justify the second contract that he got with his team You look at and this. This is kind of off season where it's all sort of coming to a halt for all of them. Devante Freeman released by the Atlanta Falcons. David Johnson traded away to the Houston. Texans shot to Bill Brian. Todd Gurley Zeke Elliott obviously is somebody who's playing on a second contract Just Life Todd Gurley just like all these other. Running backs were And for what? It's worth by the way I love you on bell's still on the jets although he has definitely been connected a different a lot of different trade things. A lot of that I think is probably just The coaching situation with jets but the NFL is starting to learn if they did not know. I don't know how they wouldn't paying a running back maybe not the best idea for an NFL team as evidenced by literally all of the evidence. Well all of the evidence. Except for Zeke Elliot. I tweeted this out on the blog and the boys twitter feed at blogging. The boys Former bt B B Alum Katie Drummond now from the cowboys wire. Katie had a great article. Not Too long ago talking about how Zeke's performances really kind of separate him from the rest if you if you look at all those names. We've talked about girly and Freeman and Johnson and even levy on bell. Zeke Elliott is definitely a cut above the rest. Zeke Elliott is if any of them have justified a second contract. It's unquestionably Zeke. Now I personally believe that a second contract I running back is not worth it no matter. What however Zeke is very special and is very different And does not belong or should not be lumped into the exact same categories. All these other running backs but I do. WanNa talk about todd. Gurley and Zeke and how these things were kind of connected I wrote about this to this should be out some time I think on Friday boys dot com so Heads up for that but also last thing before we get to our break among the other releases that the Los Angeles Rams had on Thursday they released Clay Matthews Clay Matthews was released by the Rams For what it's worth. Clay Matthews played ten years for Mac. Mccarthy with the Green Bay packers helped help the packers won the Super Bowl when they won superbowl forty five in what was then cowboys stadium. So that connection is there. I don't think that's the best idea but it is worth mentioning out loud. That connection. Is There Clay Matthews Mike McCarthy who knows ultimately what comes to it but as mentioned I wanNA talk about todd? Gurley Zeke Elliott Jared Goff Dak Prescott WanNa get into all of that because it is all connected in a way that You know we'll give you somebody to blame somebody to be madden. I know that's what you're looking for right now. So let's go ahead and do that but before we do. We're going to take a very quick break here. Award from our sponsors hiring is difficult. You're looking for the just right candidate for your team's unique needs but knowing where to start the search can be challenging according to ziprecruiter research three out of four employers say. They're having a hard time filling open positions. If you've got a difficult role.

"The LA rams they're not bringing him back is expired his contract expired with the added twenty nineteen season the rams are declining to renew it put together three excellent seasons with the rams I should say about two and a half this year there were times it was not great but if you think about this way two of the last four Super Bowl teams had I'm sorry in two last super bowls there is a team that featured a weight Phillips defense of twenty fifteen with the Denver Broncos anyone a ring that he went to LA with last year's defense held the patriots the thirteen point two Superbowl couldn't get a win because the office did absolutely nothing Wade Phillips was at the time I think he was the right fit for the rams Sean McVay probably needed to have a way to experience is that coach his gravitas the respect that he gets it helped bring them to keep to leave because delete said he wanted to play for Wade Phillips Wade Phillips as coach of the greats of the game and some of the great for the game have been made great by Wade Phillips but he is no longer the defensive coordinator for the LA rams now the cowboys ya divas courtier but it appears that my McCarthy is gonna look at Mike no one in McCarthy is signing a five year contract to be the cowboys head coach so news in LA.

"Right now because we are watching buffalo and Pittsburgh as recording the GM shuffle right now by way give out the GM shuffle give us some love befall an instagram at the GM shuffle Nelson Apple. PODCAST ask you can subscribe and rate and review. I read all the reviews. Appreciate all the feedback as far as Pittsburgh Buffalos Concerned Mike. Ten all right now tight defensive battle. Yeah I mean I mean this is the under was in play here tonight. The ducks too through another picture to white. You know he's now he's in the third and fifteen i. This is the points are going to be hard to come by because both quarterbacks so just not consistent enough in terms of throwing the ball and these two teams can play pass defense and they're really fast on defense so all those check downs that they try to throw these teams rally rally to them and make plays well. It certainly has been a challenging game to watch if you like offensive football but speaking of challenges you seem to figure out a formula here when it comes to gambling thirty nine. Nineteen anyone going into your now. Forty three nineteen and two. It's crazy it's I mean I've been really loud. Look I would say I got lucky shit today with the Eagles I mean to count that as a win but then then I got unlucky with Seattle like I feel like I should have won Seattle so like I feel like I was three and one for the day but I'm not gonNA take a loss and I'll have to take one but you know forty-three nineteen eighteen into. I'll take it. I mean Billy Walters would like to have that and he's in my. He's the world's greatest gambler. I think the best thing is again. I'll say this is what I've been able to do with the with the power rankings and and then use them to kind of like the scale like I would have my power rankings. Today would've said take the brownies you know because they were should have been a higher favor but there was always. I don't trust the browns. You know I don't trust trust them like like everybody in the world. Everybody you know Josh Appelbaum on visa was coming out with Patrick and not. The Patrick was with this because Patrick's the same way I am on this is like we're talking about all. The sharps are in on the chargers. Like there's like the secret hush money coming in. You almost feel like it's like you know Maxwell smart going through two layers was to bring the money in right. There's tons sharp money coming in. On the chargers. They won't move the line. The books won't move the line. The sharps moving. And I'm thinking like I got Minnesota's a five. I point favorite like at the chargers. Just because they beat Shitty Jacksonville. Is there any good and we know. The place is going to be filled with Vikings fans right. So that's where I think it gets cut. Confusing is when you get into this when the fans here the sharp money they don't know this off the sharpshooter bet. Did if these guys are betting. If you know if Joe Pepsi's betting it over there in the Irishman Schmidt. Did I tell you what I did last week. Millie went back and watched. All the Pepsi's watched every scene again. It was unbelievable. He's incredible he's GonNa get nominated for best supporting actor he should win it. It's like it's not even close. I just give him the award like the guy was incredible. Like I'd like to have lunch with that guy especially because you could talk about music with Frankie Devali all that stuff. Oh I know and then I think he's like he's like he's in a band or something I think he plays doesn't he. Yeah he's still sings that's what he's been the last twenty years. Playing Golf and singing is is incredible. I mean that guy is just to think he was Harry Right. It's true he was hiring. Harry that's from the wet bandits. He was one of the bandits the journey that they take you. You love the salad seen more for someone who has watched the hours when you watch the salad see and that's the one you this salad scene and then the cereal seen in the morning and then he asked the class. How'd you sleep? You know like nobody ever has to ask me how I sleep. I can tell you the good like hot day. It's good all right. Let's get to the teams. We're GONNA make the playoffs. It's getting on the nitty gritty here. So New England Baltimore. Casey Houston now in the driver's seat in the AFC. I'm with you on all those teams and agree within the wildcards buffalo and Pittsburgh it looks say Tennessee's been me outside looking into that means. The team is playing right now. It's football we have the making it as a five and sixty two buffalo wings night by the way there in. This'll be Tennessee. Despite despite a good Strip Montana L. they're not gonNA make it. Yeah I mean. That's I think. Buffalo Buffalo can find a way to manufacture any offense. This'll be this'll be an interesting game if they gotta do it all over again because both these teams don't have enough offense to go to to do it all over again. They're going to have to play the same game over again. You know what I'm saying. I mean they don't have a right or a left hand. They just have a right hand now. You say Josh Allen will get hot. I don't see that I don't see him getting hot because he doesn't control the football but You know and then they got to play New England next week on Saturday which would be a great day. Saturday is GonNa be a great football. Yeah tripleheader football on Saturday and all those games are good games as far as the NFC is concerned San Francisco New Orleans. Green Green Bay Dallas Seattle Minnesota. I'll disagree the I think the Eagles pull off the victory and they will represent the NFC east but both agreed. The rams are done. The Rams have done. I mean they're if anoc there're fraud you know they're done. You know I watch Donnie BRASCO. The other day too. That was good. Oh Joseph D pistone is incredible. I watched that again because I needed to brush up on that. The FINAN was a good line. There there I mean. There's no doubt they're done. They're out of it. Well how about the fact that we went. Paul Giamati goes what's Forbe's giant search explaining because they can repel wealth is one a great piece of Forget about the different connotations. To forget about it's unbelievable. See now the flow. They're like I thought the to me the Irishman and was so good in the sense that there was the unspoken word and I think the unspoken word really made that movie right. Yeah well that I mean we're we're we're when depth thousands of fog as the look on John Pacino's face he was all five boroughs. I'm known forgot you ask anybody about lefty from mulberry. St A uh-huh okay. Time now for the Lombardi awards on the Lam. This was an. We haven't talked a lot about this team. Oakland raiders are done. They had a nice little season. Six eight there but this is a good one view view on the Lam you got. Derek Carr Oakland AIDS a new quarterback. I think car does some really dumb things you know. He throws the ball out of bounds. Today on the on the last minute drive. He stops the clock. He doesn't stay inbounds he does some really dumb things I mean. The raiders are six eight like at thank God. ow Wasn't alive life to see the presentation the final game at Oakland. 'cause there have been a lot of heads rolling today. It'd be a lot of today. You know there. There would be a lot of problems and I think so. You know the raiders to me. We know they're bad on defense but today you know. They got a sixteen to three lead against the Jacksonville team. Who's just trying to quit but Gardner Mints? You wouldn't let the team quit. He kind of hung them in there. He kept playing but at some point. You know gruden sitting there. You're paying one hundred million dollars a year. You pay them ten million dollars a year Wednesday. Get Better Nick. I think it's GonNa come on car like they gotta get better than car. Like car isn't who he is and I think they got to get a Co.. He's not rich Gannon. He's he's not that tough guy you know he bails them. You know. It doesn't do enough good things. And if they can't run the ball they barely punted and they couldn't get the ball into the endzone. What was he doing at hard? Nuts soon are making fun. It was he talking to. You is nervous when he proposed or some nonsense like. Yeah exactly. Yeah I mean that's still resonates with me. I still feel like that's like I. Just don't see him as an nate tough guy and we also when you came on in this on Saturday which we really appreciate of course close. We talked about. I wanted to tell you the story about you. We were talking about George. Will you had the great line about George will football as well. How'd you say that that? What's that lie with? George George will who is a lifelong baseball ever does not like football. Said football combines the worst I do worst elements the twenty century violence and committee meeting. Yeah so anyway so I saw George will on. This is back when I was at. The forty niners liners. I saw him on the Phil Donahue Show and I listened to him and I read one of his books and I don't know how do I called this bookstore in in Washington to order one of his books this is i. Should've I should've figured this out myself. This is pre Amazon days and I'm not political at all. I thought he was like an amazing writer and I wanted to read his writing writing so I'm not like I'm not like I'm a staunch Republican and I want to read. We'll says from the complete right right. That's not me you know. I mean if anything I'm I'm I'm what they used to call a southern southern Democrat. I'm right in the middle I like I like to be perfectly centered. You know I don't want to go far left rights but anyway so I call. This bookstore sells southern Democrats. You're kind of like Jimmy Carter me. Yeah that's what they used to. They used to be a term called the southern Democrat with somebody who centered in the middle. There's like you know it was maybe conservative on on financial issues liberal and social schol issue however it is right so like for me. I don't have any right to tell a woman what she can do like I. That's not that's not my job. I don't know that right right so anyway I call this bookstore in Washington and I asked him if I can get this book because it was the that somebody told me it was the only bookstore had it so the bookstore ends up telling George will that this guy from the forty niners wants his book. And I'm in Oklahoma City and I get a phone call. The secretary says George will called you today. I might get Outta here stop lying. Yeah I'm in Oklahoma City. I'm doing. I'm doing Oklahoma state right. George will called you call back get out of here right so I called. George will's office back. Oh he gets on the VOTAW. Thank you very much a sign that book for you. I'm really honored you do that. What what are credible guy? He said if ever in Washington we'll go out to lunch. Well Shit sure just so happens like like like a month later and there was an all star game in Washington that week so I I flew down to Washington to watch the All Star game to go back. He took the lunch. It took me the lunch and it was like great great. I sat there and lunch at this place and it was unbelievable. I was like great. I'd assume he talked about a bunch of things and every now and then we would keep in touch periodically through the years so so that one year..

Jalen Ramsey's troubled Jaguars tenure ends with blockbuster trade to Rams

"Terms of Jalen Ramsey will talk about this he finally got what he wanted the end result the disgruntled corner headed to the Los Angeles Rams the Jaguars finally relented and Ramsey to the west coast for first round draft picks two of the one in twenty twenty one in two thousand twenty one also a fourth rounder in the two thousand twenty one draft here's a statement for Jaguars executive VP. Tom Coughlin given the situation with Jalen we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars for this season and well into the future we feel the trade that we struck with the rams gives us great value for the next two drafts and remain confident that our team today will compete this season for a division title Jalen Wasser Productive Flair but the time came to move on and we wish him and his family the best in Los A- Angela here's head coach Doug marrone obviously I had a good relationship with him and we were working together to get them healthy on the field and that that's what my focus was so he can get on the field and help us you know win football games and now you know how concentrating on on the players gotta here and and getting our guys focused on on on Cincinnati I think in his league nothing ever really surprises me anymore you know especially from the business side of things I found out like everybody else did last night you know lately point Dave came in and told me Rams reporter Lindsey theory joins us from L. A. and Lindsey listen there's been a lot of coming and going and all Ryder roster changes what's the general reaction to all of the news from the rams this week Wendy for a team that's three and three and in the mid of a three game losing streak certainly renewed buzz and energy at the team facility this morning now I am told the Jalen Ramsey is in route to Los Angeles and he's expected here later this afternoon or the rams do expect that he will pass his physical and I am told that he could be on the field for them as soon as Sunday against the Falcons now this would be viewed as a move where the rams are going all in once again to try to make a repeat super bowl run but I am told the Rams really believe that this is a move for their long-term future keep to leave and Marcus Peters or playing the season on expiring contracts Ramsey has another season left and the rams do intend to sign him to a long term engine now as you mentioned he's not the only new face here at the facility today Kenny Young Austin Corbett also were here they have passed their physicals though remains to be seen if they will be at practice later this afternoon and one more note Wendy Safety John Johnson is headed to injured reserve because of shoulder injury. Lindsey thank you it was a rare blockbuster trade a few weeks now before the trading deadline Ramsey joined a small handful of veteran players traded for multiple first round picks in the last third two years or so Khalil Mack and Jay Cutler garnered big offers from the bears the dolphins move two first rounders for Ricky Williams and it too big halls to get Herschel Walker an Eric Dickerson listen we can go back to the jags but since June Ramsey is moving onto the rams let's start with what he means for the La Rams Right now we'll Wade Phillips now gets a play defense the way he wants to Wakefield's really wants to play in your face on the line of scrimmage with the defensive line pressure and then in your face on the live with men cover corners. He hasn't been able to do that to be honest with you with Marcus Peters Marcus Peters is not not played good man to man coverage needs a better zone corner so now wade having Jalen gets the opportunity to get back to Colin defense the way he wants to do it I'll be really interested to see if they use Jalen the way we want I bill belichick thrill reverse where you put him on the team's best number two receiver and then everybody else gets to get double teams opposing for the opposing offense but it makes their defense significantly best Champ Bailey the dion sanders I mean the great quarters you can do that lock him up and then roll the other side I think you'll see that the other thing that was curious for me was that Tom Coughlin mentioned that Jaguars were better this year and going forward I think maybe either that was miss written or because they're not speak they're not better by getting a great player out of there so I miss quotes tim so expe- Joe Joe Listen you were you were spot on Jalen Ramsey never changed his stance which is what you asserted from the get-go and I would assume just finally came to a point where it just made no sense to have him on a roster when he wasn't going to win this transaction happened yesterday the first thing came to my mind is how often the people I was always talking to that this was going to work out for Jalen Ramsey like there was no fretting I didn't hear any fear and now that this is resolved itself in the way that it has it kind of plays into the tone that I've been hearing all along now I was talking to a source obviously familiar with Jalen Ramsey. They said that he's excited considering this a fresh start to be with the rams I think one of the questions that I had in talking to ram source last night was why not hold onto Marcus Peters to have opposite Jalen Ramsey in terms of making this movie now one thing that the ram source said to me is that it looked like it was clear that less need did not want to pay marcus. Peters beyond this year he's eligible unrestrained the free agency next year and it was better just to rip off quote unquote the band-aid now so then it becomes well who is opposite Jalen Ramsey for this game against the Atlanta Falcons they mentioned that two thousand seventeen when cal Roby Coleman I came to the teen that he did fill in for a keep to Leon outside first and second down and then on Nichols would have him excuse me on third down having a nickel or sometimes have troy hill on the outside and then have an RC in the middle so expect something like that or combination of that against the Falcons either way Julio Jones saw the rams problems in the short turn no because the opposite of the ball is atrocious right now and that's been there issue as far as being a front now what I will say is it does play into them getting better though like we can focus on golfing what this offense has been doing but with the guy like Jalen Ramsey not only does he hell Aaron Donald give him a maybe a half a second more to get to the quarterback he also may be able to steal a possession to for you and this ninety four was out there so air down gets another piece on the back end that can help him hold off quarterbacks for a second for him to get there and that's that's really all I can think about so maybe you

"la rams" Discussed on Xtra Sports Radio 1300 AM

"The LA Rams made it to the Super Bowl last year. What are they going to do this year? We talked earlier about what the expectations for this team should be. It's kind of vague right now. I don't expect another civil parents not many teams that lose the Super Bowl get back. The patriots first team to lose and get back and win it since the dolphins in the early seventies. And they were real questions about the Rams not the same level of star power infusion that we saw a year ago. But still clay Matthews who knows how much he has left. Eric wedge, all due respect. Who knows how much he has left. Either. Those are the biggest names that they've added via free agency guys who weren't with the teams. And then there's Blake Bortles. What what what grandma always say? If you can't say something nice about somebody don't say anything at all. So let's just move on. There without some guys. They had last year. Dhamma can sue. I think will be signing with someone not the Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Seattle. That'd be a great way for the Seahawks to stick it to the Rams a little bit. But I just you look I don't know where what the feel about these Rams. I don't know how to feel about Jared Goff. I don't know how to feel about Todd Gurley. And that arth Riddick knee. That only got worse as the year unfolded, Chris. Yeah. I think there's a lot of questions. They're certainly I mean, and you talked about, you know, the last few years we've seen town infusion every year with the Rams, whether it was Sammy Watkins, Marcus Peters Dhamma consumed last year, the Brandin cooks thing all of that. Hey, I do think Eric Weddell was a nice signing. They needed that position needed. A kind of some veteran stability back. They're losing lamarcus Joyner. But yeah, not that great splash that we've seen. But this team is pretty well set up now. Now, the big thing is there's not a lot of great depth on the football team. That's the one thing. I look at what the Rams the last two years. They've been very fortunate to avoid the. Injury bug because I do think them compared to other teams I evaluate they would be more susceptible to being in big trouble. If they got the injury bug as compared to maybe other teams, the other thing is, and you mentioned I mean, Sean McVay gonna have to reinvent himself a little bit this year two years of kind of being the king of offense in the NFL or certainly one of the kings. And then towards the last year we saw a few teams kind of crack the code down the stretch to where. Yeah, I think he's going to have to find new wrinkles and new schemes and new additions to the offense to give Jared Goff and the offense of advantages that way, but how long is the shelf life of this team. Right, mike. I think that's the big thing. You know? I, you know, is this is this one more year, and we turn this over two more years. How does it go? They got some aging guys at a lot of positions that you look across the roster and go they only got a year or two left before they start thinking of replacements. Andrew Whitworth almost didn't come back at left tackle. And Jared goff's got two years left on his rookie contract. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be with that team over the long haul. I thought it was funny a couple of weeks ago when the Rams picked up his fifth year option. A lot of Rams fans. Crowed all this means that Gough is the guy not doesn't it? Hardly means. He's the guy all it means is they're exercising. Their option to keep them around for one more year. And then they're going to figure out what they're going to do after that. They may not keep him around. Sean McVay may want to pick his own quarterback. Todd Gurley is the thing that hovers over all of this for me because they made Todd Gurley. The at the time the highest paid running back in football with the long term deal with a ton of injury guarantee. And then the niece started to be a problem. And what can he really do? And they used a high pick on Daryl Henderson five foot eight inch running back out of Memphis got with a rocket up is. But a guy who can do a lot of things in that offense. And if Todd Gurley was getting a little salty about C J Anderson last year. Is going to get a real Saudi about Daryl Henderson because I don't think Sean McVay drafts that guy so high if he doesn't plan to use him right away. Chris. Well, I and even to your point even if further which I agree with you. Right. You're right. Yeah. I mean Henderson's going to be a part of this offense. He special to I mean, he's can really make some big time. Plays screen game. Third down running back. I think that's how he'll be used probably early on. But the other thing that just shows me they were a little concerned with Todd Gurley to is. Hey, let's not forget the Detroit Lions made an offer to Malcolm Brown, the backup running back for the Rams to sign him in free agency. And the Rams match that offer to make sure they got him back and gave him a signing bonus and some money guarantee that usually don't see a part of backup running back type deals. So that to me is a little bit of a clue at least that hey, they wanted to have somebody there that knew the offense is a veteran have been around the league and knows what it's like to be a Los Angeles ram because they're a little scared of Todd Gurley. But I'm with you, Mike. This is a big big question altogether. Hey won the offense. Align was not great the last seven eight weeks of the year other than the Dallas cowboy game where they cracked the code of what Dallas was doing on defense. Their offense aligned did not dominate people. And then out of the fact that Todd Gurley was not one hundred percent that does scare me. Because you know, we forget the Rams are kind of a run I football team. They were towards the top of the league at all rushing statistics. And a lot of their play action passes and things and then they're passing offense come off of their ability to run the ball. And that's something I certainly will evaluate as as we get into the season. They do get Cooper cutback from a tornado assuming he's healthy that will help the offense because Robert woods and Brandin cooks can only do so much themselves Cup had become a very potent addition and without him the offense was different. So injuries are going to be a factor for for all teams, and you're going to have to respond and adjust and adapt. But that really did seem to affect that offense. They they seem to be much more. Effective earlier in the year at the end of the year. It's just kind of felt like they were hanging on to their credit. They got to the Super Bowl. But I think it was a surprise. You know by the middle of October. We said this team is destined for the Super Bowl by late seventies early January. There were real question marks about the Rams, and I'm still stunned. They came back and won the game in New Orleans and disrupted a saints patriots SuperBowl. And I'm more than stunned that they only scored three points. I just wonder how much that scars their psyche going into twenty nineteen right? The fact that they they put in all that work all that effort to get to the Super Bowl. They only score three points. Well, they have enough faith in themselves this year to that. They're going to be around at the end of the season in a viable position can climb the mountain and have a better showing than what they had a year ago. Yeah. Well, I it's hard to replicate that type of intensity, you know, the have the ball bounce your way few times, whatever it may be it is I mean, it's just the NFL seasons long and grueling and to be able to do it two years in a row is. You know, we've seen only the special teams can do that. Really? But I listen, I think the big thing that you talk about that. I certainly question and want to see more of this year is is the Sean McVay factor. You know, I do feel like teams caught onto the Sean McVeigh offense. The second half of the year. You talked about how awesome they looked at the start of the year. And all of that, you know, I just think again when your Boy Genius. And you're one of the best offense of brains in the game. You know, people are going to evaluate a little bit in the off season, especially the teams in your division. Now they've had to full seasons to play against you. And really get your tendencies we've seen another few other teams really give them issues. Like the Chicago Bears. Went out teams are going to steal what they did a lot some of the coverages. The patriots ran in the Super Bowl we're from that bears game plan. So I think that is the thing I am most excited to see Sean McVeigh reinventing himself and bringing more to the table on the offensive side of the ball because his awesome. He is I did think the offense lacked a little creativity and some newness and new plays altogether. As we got later into the season. He said it himself at the scouting combine with a laugh. He's now boy blunder no longer kid genius. But this just part of the growing pains, if you're going to have a long career in the NFL, you are going to have these moments where you are tested to try to refine your approach improve it. Stay one step ahead of everybody else. That's what so much of what the game is about as they catch up to what you're doing. You have to figure out how to stay ahead of it gets back to the store you told last hour when they figure out your audibles, you gotta figure out a way to use that against them. Right. I figure out how to stop your defense. You got to figure out how to take advantage of the opportunity that creates at the end of the day. There's only eleven guys on the field. So they are aligning and moving those those guys and using them in a way to take away the things that you wanna do there's an opening somewhere else. You just have to learn how to exploit it. And I think that's the big challenge for the Rams, and I mean right out of the gate. I mean, they go to Carolina week one. On the road. Ten AM local time game for the Rams. That's not going to be easy now. Saints come to town. The next week. They are going to be ready for even though the review all the Rams did was show up and do their job. They're trying to get to the next game. But the saints are going to have a lot of pent-up frustration going into that game. It's not going to be an easy start to the season. And if you don't set the tone right for the Rams Seahawks forty Niners. One of those teams maybe running away with division by the time. The Rams figure out what the hell's going on. Yeah. Well, you mentioned the first two games..

NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions

"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. That will have news for you guys. What more on that coming up later? This week

"And a special edition of weekend. Live obviously, the Super Bowl is ongoing. It's the fourth quarter still three two three the LA Rams and the patriots all defense and not much in the way of offense as you can imagine. But will be here till midnight. We'll talk about the the win or the loss for the good guys. And you know, who the good guys are up here and will cover as much as you want to talk about. And certainly connect with Carl again, who'll be roaming the the party circuit on Boston street. A couple of things as we await the end of the game and again, fourteen minutes left, and that is beyond the commercials, which are kind of fun to talk about the Tom Brady phenomenon. He's forty one years old and every time someone brings up the idea. Of retirement. He's quick to poop who that idea. And I think he wants to play further. I think he's enjoying it. And I think he wants to go further along with his career. My question. And it's just an an open ended question. But is do you do you or anybody? You know, it do you see that kind of dedication in in other jobs. Now granted he makes a gazillion dollars a year is married to supermodel. He works six months of the year has a pretty good gig. Although you can get pretty banged up. But he does have this incredible work ethic because most quarterbacks most athletes in that game or done by the time they're in their mid thirties. And they're not playing as many years. Tom Brady's first Super Bowl was what seventeen years ago? So it's just interesting to to ponder would would that be any of us in our respective fields. I love what I do. But I don't know. I could do it when I'm quote, unquote, over the hill Brady doesn't seem to be over the hill. And that's the first question. The second point is the opposition the quarterback for the Rams who is a whopping twenty four years old Jared Goff, twenty four and the coach on McVeigh's thirty-three. So if you add those numbers up that's fifty seven which is younger than the actual age of coach Belichick sixty six so combined the quarterback for the LA Rams and their coach their ages. Don't even equal billing checks, and they're not that far above Brady's. I dunno just little things that find interesting getting back to the commercials again our numbers, by the way are open to the three people who are not glued in. In front of their TV sets at the moment. Even though we're on fifty thousand nonstop killer. It's pretty tough to do this. When. There are so many people watching TV, but the other commercials that are worth mentioning the robot commercials on the robots are everywhere. And have you noticed? They all have the same basic look all of the robot commercials. The robots all look the same. And they're kind of based on modern prototypes of robots, but the one that I really liked was the Michelob commercial where robots are doing all these athletic things. They're there. Whacking golf balls at an incredible pace. They're punching the punching bag almost breaking the punching bag into running faster and pedaling faster. But. They cannot. Sip a Michelob and the quote at the end of the spot is only worth it. If you can enjoy it. I thought that was very clever and very tastefully done as well. There is a spot that's actually airing right now as I'm talking to you from Microsoft, and it's entitled we all win. And it features disabled children a whole bunch of them, and they just finished. But I watched it earlier disabled kids, it's a very touching spot that talks about connection, and what Microsoft what computers mean to these kids, and again there there are times when these spots are very effective at other times, we think that they're a little preachy. But I thought that was a really interesting one. And if you've had a chance to see the ole killer skin commercials. Ole oil of olay supposed to smooth out your skin. They're taking a totally different tack one. That I quite frankly, not expected they've turned the old lay skin commercials into ole killer skin commercials. And these involve what appears to be a psycho killer in a mask trying to creep up and kill people in their homes. It's very strange doesn't make me wanna go out and buy olay skin products. It makes me want to hide under the bed. So I again, I'm I'm talking about commercials that have already run during the Super Bowl the cost by the way of Super Bowl. Thirty second ad. During the first Super Bowl in the in the mid sixties was forty thousand dollars which was big money back then any idea on what it costs now for a thirty second spot Brittany five million dollars five million dollars. And that's just a one time airing. So they're spending a huge amount of money. You know, hundreds of millions of dollars goes to the coffers for CBS and for the NFL. The Rams currently have the ball. And they're just twelve minutes left. It's tied three to three third and eleven let's see the other ad that is worth watching. And if you if you're listening to this, and you're you're able to take the third is that you have to take a look at YouTube because you can see it there. It's the WalMart store ad. I thought of all the ads. This was absolutely the best and had to be the most expensive, which is basically a kickoff to their grocery delivery, service dot deliver. You can pick up groceries, and whatever I don't even know the I was so dazzled by the spot that I forgot exactly what it is. But in the commercial it starts off with the batmobile. And then all of these pop culture super duper fun cars are featured including rider, and we hear William Daniels says nightrider which I thought was really cool. The Ghostbusters ambulance the dumb and dumber than with all the for on it the Jurassic Park Jeep the DeLorean, which is cool Cinderella's coats, just because. And the Scooby doo van made just one after another, and I was thinking. Not that I'm an accountant or anything, but I was trying to figure out how much money not only to produce the ad because it was brilliantly produced with CGI, but how much to license any or all of these cars because they're all licensed to various films six one seven two five four ten thirty or eight nine two nine ten thirty flight call in I understand if you don't because you're busy with your chicken wings. But this ad was just incredible. And I would venture to say. Twenty to thirty million dollars would probably be. My guests and that can't find it online. What what the actual cost us? But it's definitely a definitely a whopper of an ad. And I don't even wanna talk about the Burger King because the king makes me crazy. The Rams currently have the ball. And it's the Rams with first and ten at the forty yard line their forty yard line. So it's been kind of a weird game. Then players moving on both sides, mostly defensive really stopped the runs. The Rams are getting a little bit closer. Now. With a flag down. I'm doing play by play because I can't alright other issues to to touch on the party scene. The Boston Globe the other day. Wrote a piece someone in the globe wrote a piece about people in New England being whole when it comes to the patriots. And they got a lot of blowback on that article because. Yeah. Maybe we're not vividly wearing number twelve everywhere for two weeks in advance. But most people are kind of excited, even though the patriots have been there before I don't think there's much of that whole do you agree with that globe globe? Article. John Henry, even he's the owner of the globe. In the Red Sox, even apologized. I think for the piece in the club. But I don't think it's so easy to be judgmental and say everyone thinks the same way we don't all think the same way, we all have an opinion, and even people who are not fans kinda get up for a game like this or the World Series or something particularly where it's in our region. So time now is nine twenty five. We have probably about ten minutes of regulation to go and the game is still tied up. So that's where we are. And we'll be talking with as I mentioned Adam Kaufman later, he's at the game in Atlanta will also be talking with Carl Stevens a bit later as well to give us a sense as to what's going on around the city, and the city is prepared as always for the aftermath showed the patriots win city is also prepared. I'm sure. And here comes a long long toss that was thrown away by the Rams. Thank you that the is prepared for the big parade when and if the patriots win, and that will be probably within a couple of days and WBZ we'll be covering any of this stuff. If it happens nine twenty six now. All right. Getting back to the commercials. The KEA commercial. Now, this is an interesting one also because they're selling cars, but the point of the commercial is wouldn't it be great? If the celebrities who making all kinds of money to plug. These various products if some of those celebrity paychecks were to help others in need, and I you look at it. And it seems like a was it. A public service announcement for the United way or something. But it it's an ad for Kia, and it's their attempt to make a statement. And and get some attention. Obviously another interesting, Ed. Let's see I mentioned Microsoft ole skin team that wouldn't be and this one really did. I think have emotional impact, and it was well done, and that's the team that wouldn't be here at that's from Verizon, and it's a series actually of ads that features people who have been in accidents people in the NFL who've had issues accidents car accidents and other issues in which first responders did with first responders do and it's very well done. And it's not just a made up premise. These are actual real live heroes who have saved folks in this case who were with the NFL that that was an exceptionally. Well done. Piece of advertising, if you will feel good and Verizon's point is that they are taking taking credit for making it available. The the phone line that allows these first responders to get the message and come to the rescue. So hats off to to them the Pringles, add the Pringles commercial is a lot of fun. I'm just looking at an ad which looks to feature Andy Warhol eating a hamburger. I'm not sure what that's all about Britney. Keep your eyes on that ad. Will you please? The Andy Warhol thing eat leg, Andy. Okay, whatever. But the Pringles ad is fun because it's a play on the. Amazon or Alexa, warning of these talking computers at home and the Pringle. I hate Pringles, by the way. Oh, my God would just give me a real potato chip. But that doesn't matter. The guys are working on developing little snacks with their Pringles in this. Alexa. Whatever she is complaints that she doesn't have hands and mouth, and she can't eat the Pringles. So in the two guys eating the brindles seemed to care a little bit. And then what they do is really funny. One of the guys play funky town and the song funky town comes up on the spot. And I thought that was cute. I really did. No one was hurt in the making of that spot. No one was hurt. And by the way, we haven't talked about this. And again when people are done with the game and are driving back home, and we'll call in at some point. We can chat about this. But the halftime show. The halftime show featuring maroon five Adam LeVine couple of rappers and a bunch of fireworks. And so forth. I spent this the first time I've ever spent more time reading during while watching the halftime show is reading you know, what I was reading Adam Levine's tattoos. I was reading them. There were so many of them, and I didn't get done. I didn't get through. I wanted a dog ear Adam LeVine because I didn't finish reading him. But. Nothing happened of a political nature. No statements were made during the halftime show. And speaking of halftime shows the the most watched halftime show in history of the Super Bowl was in two thousand fifteen with Katy Perry. I remember that was quite a spectacle. One more thing before we take this break to chat with CBS and get an update on the game and more and that is the singing of the national anthem by Gladys Knight prior to that too young ladies names escape me sang America, the beautiful those were the highlights I would have listened to them throughout the entire halftime show. Read the phone book. They were terrific. So if you if you saw Gladys Knight, she's seventy four years old and just owned that. Anthem just owned one of the toughest songs in the world to sing. And she did a brilliant brilliant job. All right. So when we come back we will continue to monitor the game patriots have the ball at this point. And when we also come back. We'll invite some calls at six one seven two five four thirty. If you happen to be driving, and you fine tuned us for some strange reason. Okay. We have to take a CBS. Let's do that. We'll come right back. News updates fourth quarter in Super Bowl fifty three. Now, the Rams and the pats are tied live to CBS's Steve Futterman. In atlanta. Gary continues to be a defensive struggle right now. Eight minutes left in the game. It's England three Los Angeles three. But the pats are driving right now. The game was scoreless until.

"Philadelphia Eagles in the LA Rams are broadcast here tonight on many of these same stations joining Kevin Kugler in the booth this evening hall of Famer Rod Woodson who joins us now here on the program. And rod good to talk to you. And you are a busy dude today. Not only have Sunday night football. You're you're doing the afternoon for NFL network. Aren't you? I am I'm doing the game. They live early addition. So get to work early and late. Active. You're you're a very very busy, man. So thank you for giving us a little bit of your time. You know, you look at this eagles team. And we've been talking about the fact that they are they're desperate. And they just lost their starting quarterback. They've got a backup quarterback coming in who led the new Super Bowl championship last year? I'm sure that you would some point or other in your career were in situations where your team was desperate. Everybody. Had you counted out double digit underdog that kind of thing how do you respond as a team in that kind of situation? You know when everything's not going, right? Everybody really has to pick up their dare play. And if they pick up to play you got opportunities mex- next man up metality in the National Football League. But you know, they've been beside. I mean, they'd been early, you know, onslaught by with injuries for the Philadelphia Eagles, and they got to overcome that. And if they can overcome that if they can play good football, especially in the rushing attack the rushing attack last year there were thirty rushing last year in twenty seventeen or twenty eight on defense back yet, you know, losing Darby losing meals. Those guys are banked up and beat up on the back. And so all the reserves they gotta come onto the field. They got gotta play their best football to give them opportunity when football game down the stretch. Now, you talk about that. And that's obviously it sounds great on paper. But then there's doing that against the Rams coming off a loss on the road in which they got beat up a little bit by the Chicago Bears defensively playing at home playing for the number one. Overall seed. I mean, this is a buzzsaw of a team this Rams team offensively. What we saw last week was the exception. Not the norm. They're terrific. They really are. You look at the Rams what they've done on offense. You know, looking at the running back Todd Gurley the second leading rusher in the National Football League. You know, Jared Goff had a bad day. The throwing the ball down the field receivers had a bad day defensively. They didn't play great football. They got out rush almost by two to one on the deeper decide this this and they're gonna come back. You know, they're eleven and two for reason under McVeigh, I believe they're five though since twenty seventeen after a loss. So I if they're gonna come back and play great football, especially if the whole crowd, they know they're trying to be the number one seed likely the number one team. Meaning they probably can't lose any more games this year. So they got to come out and play their best ball you play defense for a long time at the highest level in the National Football League. And we watch what Sean McVay is able to do with this offense your watchman. Andy Reid can do with the Kansas City Chiefs. And now we're seeing a little bit of what Matt Nagy is doing with the Chicago Bears in terms of. Creativity. As a defensive player when you watch that. Now is your perception that it's got to be a lot harder to play the game on the defensive side of the ball. Well, I think what's going on. And I was just thinking about this last night is that most offense is only make you covered the width of the field when you get into the red zone. But the Kansas City cheese. The the Rams even Chicago Bears now because they're all set of the any read tree they make you play the wits field and the length of the field throughout the whole game. You know, so it's a hundred yards. You you're going to cover fifty three yards wide. Do you got to do that in space throughout the whole game? It makes it more difficult as a player in the National Football League. Let alone the rule changes. But what they do to you with the speed sweeps and the smokescreens and all the different things like that. It makes all defenders play better in space. And if you're not a great tackling defense and space, they're going to call you a lot of issues, and there's not a lot of great tackling defenses in space these days anyway, but as a defender it also got another second here. It also takes a little bit of your aggressiveness away, doesn't it? I think you you're not aggressive when you're not sure. And would you have doubt doubt slows you down? So if you don't know your rules, if you don't know where you belong your leverages you play a lot slower and when you play slower, you don't play great football. And the team that plays the fastest normally in the National Football League the team that wins the games. Right. Thanks so much. Really? Appreciate it. We'll talk to you somewhere down the line. Sounds great. Hall of Famer Rod Woodson he'll be joined by Kevin Kugler in the booth tonight for the Rams and the eagles Sunday night. Football comes your way, beginning at seven thirty eastern with NFL Sunday, we'll wrap things up when we return. You're listening to the NFL today on.
