"And then simmons gets. Simmons gets the green interesting so this is incredible over the course of thirteen seconds. The teams scored a combined eleven points. They scored an eleven points in the sequence of five trip. Four on one trip then basically you immediately get to yes. So it's it's one thousand six hundred and twenty four at that point and bogdanovich was able to at least like draw a folly kinda had to follow at that point with under ten seconds and bogdonovich to is free throws and they Now simmons simmons never had the ball. But i was joking like oh i. Don't they file simmons again right up. Four with eight seconds left. There's no timeouts wheeler team and that was just incredible like like that was to do when you're up eight and yes like you're worried about them hitting a three but even them hitting a three. You're still up by two possessions. The only way that you're gonna get into difficulty is by like a free throw and then an offensive rebound and get more points led the way they did so it just that that was like just way out smarter and maybe someone in. The hawks department told nate mcmillan. Like hey you know if you're up late like you commit these files you know they the you're like. It seems like you're mitigating your risk and you're mitigating the rest of them hitting a three pointer on you but you're exacerbating your risk of something truly disastrous happening. Which now. I guess it's nice to have a fourteen point lead with three minutes left in the game because you can play this bet instill fan with. We'll there was only one time where i thought i saw where i definitely saw. There was one possession and he had. The hawks were a comedy of errors. They were forced but they. Were you know horrendous. There was one where trae young got fouled and then passed the ball away like they intentionally him the wretches didn't call it and then he turned it over but generally speaking. This was horrendous. I just want to mention that one. Because i noticed it all right so tomorrow we got two more games. We also got some news to get to as well. We talk about this portland stuff. Which is kinda funny. We'll we'll get. We'll get to that but probably time to wrap up here. This is a fun though. We a lot of stuff to talk about these games. They were really fascinating. I i mean game. Ones are the ones where i'm usually the most interested to talk about this series. Because we're learning so much in those series and my prediction is that the sixers are gonna just completely destroyed. The hawks in game two behind the home crowd. They're gonna win by twenty and beads can have a bunch of dunks and everyone's me celebrating. But i enjoy embiid. Beat is probably going to be questionable for every game in the series like his knee could easily be like quite swollen right now in quite swollen tomorrow and i mean i would guess that he was feeling pretty damn good if they let them play and he looked good but with the injury that he has like that can happen at any time. We've seen him just like misplayed off games notice before it's always an adventure and if embiid does not play in game two or he's limited they did play full minutes three eight minutes. These limited watch out they could be in big trouble in the series and We'll talk to you tomorrow night. After box nets and sons nuggets..

"It's like yet to a certain extent but like they were still getting out. I thought the sixers were largely getting played other than that. It was just more. It was closer to even that stretch where they got demolished. Yeah the turnovers completely killed philly throwing during that stretch and landed forty two points in the first and they had like a one sixty offense rating. They're hitting every three and philly really kept pace with them. They had a one fifth offensive rating when they didn't turn over but they turned it over nine times in the first quarter and then it just got worse from there. The overall the all bench unit you mention head five turnovers and eight possessions at one point and obviously the hawks were taking advantage of that also some of the other highlights the sixers somehow managed to turn into nilo nari dribbling into the court into four free throws the nilo gone bringing the ball up. They follow them once. The backward enable goes for a bad gamble and then gets out of position and follows him on the drive. Dwight howard tried to get a foul on a rip through move and just lost it for a fast break and i thought actually a kanju kind of learned a little bit like i tires maxi went adam three times in pick and roll the first time a congress gets too far up on the floor and maxi blue buying for a layup the second two times he stays back and got stops on them at the rim so obviously the adjustment for affiliates to be that i mean i understand. You're gonna take him beaten simmons out at the same time. If howard is going to play the adjustment is howard's not play and then maybe you're gonna move. Ben simmons to center in those minutes when in beat is not on the floor if you are gonna play in in some of them. He pushed platt device. Handwrite i mean. That's your other option. If you must play dwight howard who i just. I don't like having that rim protection doesn't really seem to be like that. Amazing in this series. We'll see he could maybe play a little bit better than than he did and it wasn't all his fault. Obviously there's but it's just tough for them to score when when he's out there and Shake milton played one minute and had to travel and then was taken out of the game immediately george hill only played eleven minutes and was negative. Seventeen didn't even get close to a look at all. I would like to see more of him. Playing with the starters. And i think that him as a possibility guarding trae rather than danny green. I would like to see them. Try that if it's not gonna be. Ben simmons from the start benson says he wants to guard trae more but he complained that he got some of those touch falls and got in foul trouble in the third. Joel embiid though did look really good. Do you agree offensively. yes. I absolutely agree. And there were some a few limitations from movement that we saw defensively but no he was extremely dominant a criticism. And i think that by a criticism for me of clink. Capella is that. I thought even though joel embiid wasn't hitting the jump shot. I thought that he didn't challenge that enough. I think generally you should make joel embiid drive more often anyway just because he turns the ball over a bunch but when somebody's dealing with the best up meniscus and you want it it's a it's more physical work for them to do it and yeah you. They don't have the greatest room. But i thought he was. Conceding may use conceding some easy shots and let me. Let me a generally agree with you. I've said that before on many alive cast that you can't just let joel embiid enjoy and be turning face in shoot because he's just going to make that turn himself into a wonderful mitterand shooter. But once you're up by twenty four points. I think it charges at that point. I will get a light contests on your mid ranger. I don't think that you can make up. Twenty four points with joel embiid shooting from mid range over and over again as the steady diet and whole heart joel embiid driving in and i like you know team on the catch seventeen feet from the basket like yeah now you're going to potentially give threes. That's how you could possibly give a comeback or clean cappella. Let's him drive and then fouls and that's another way that you can give up a comeback when you're just letting him get to the foul line. Let them set up their defense. Which puts a of a problem for the hawks at the wall and also cappella. Foul trouble is something that you want to avoid so i if you wanna try to pull it off yeah Looked like the sixers might be jumping back into. They get it down to seventy nine sixty four midway through the third. And then the hawks get seven straight points and they kinda yo-yoed back and forth from twenty two to fifteen with just a some kind of dumpling. There unlike Salman hill filing embiid backward for fouls They did try playing. Trae young and lou williams together along with danilo gallinari for a little bit and lou williams still with that firepower out their head like a terrible zero pass possession at the end of the third But i still just struck by how easy it was for the hawks to get open. Threes forty seven three point attempts in this game like they are too good of shooting team to allow to shoot that many threes. And they you know. They only made seven of their last twenty four after starting off. Thirteen to twenty three. But in gallo and john collins and bogdonovich trae he's able to create space like bogdonovich getting twelve three-point attempts like that just way too much but because they've got him beat out there. I mean basically whenever embiid was out there and obviously danny green exasperated things with poor defensive. The point of attack trae young is getting penetration. Or they're putting on the ball and the hawks mood around there. Basically just able to get open threes against this team anytime and so maybe the philly i think they got better personnel. Like they can clean it up a little bit more. They can avoid making mistakes. They can just be better about where they're pushing trae young. They could just put a little bit more pressure on them. All those things like the hawks are not going to have this ridiculous of an offensive performance. I mean and let's not forget like they put up a twenty eight and you know they basically like didn't score the last five minutes of the game other than getting filed so this was a ridiculous offensive performance Although worth noting that the piece was incredibly high in part due to all those turnovers at the end all the fouls but turnovers at the end. Yeah but i was unaware right but sixty seven percent shooting for the hawks and just the turnovers that really killed their efficiency at the end and and trae so i thought he took some overly aggressive threes at at moments in the second. But i mean he trae young. We talked about how amazing he was like as a score and as a distributor still had the so you had three assists in the in the second half but he had a couple of other potential guys just missed the three but trae young. It was three of ten from the field missed. Three of his four shots in the paint made a couple midrangers and missed all four of his threes. But they're still generating good. Looks like even even stretches except for the very end of the game which we'll talk about shortly. That that part of it i think has to be concerning to philadelphia as well as that even when the shots were falling. They were good shots. What philly did best in certain circumstances prevented shots were happening in the first place. But you can't build the whole thing out of that. It's just it's impossible now. Philly has good enough personnel. That i think they can adjust. Learn to travel but also a lot of people groaning about the foul line Guys philly took thirty five thousand. The hawks took twenty one but and obviously a big part of that was embiid. Fourteen fifteen and simmons getting intentionally fouled which We'll talk about that in fact maybe we shall right now. I to just drunk end of the game..

"Type guy if you don't play now forbes already could dribble it up a little bit maybe just make jaanus the point guard but it's also not like is jeff took two shots right like he's not running any offense out there and there were a lot of times when he's out there where he was more of a spot up shooter like there are possessions where they gave other people and he's not good at that so i mean i think between coniston and forbes something if you wanted him out yeah yeah i mean but like if you're just going to say who's you'd have to and again i don't think this is a real weakness to me. Mike bhutto's he just he he just kinda item gonna take. You ought to put you in Tired okay you're going to go out and alec. It seems totally haphazard when he takes guys out of the game and that they're just there isn't like forethought or a craft to do. I have everything that. I need it all times with this five. I'm on the floor. And you're not gonna play teague. You gotta be careful about that with your but also the brooklyn nets aren't going to press you like this philadelphia seventy sixers all right like they're not gonna pressure you up full-court like you're probably going to be okay. But but they are a little a little light on spacing an offense as well starting lineup particularly. If you're going to have brook lopez's playing inside janas can't shoot tucker can only shoot from the corners. Now you're really relying a lot of middleton and holiday to make threes. I think they need to think more about just having brook lopez's standing outside and spacing the floor and we'll see maybe you'll get hot if he's gonna if he's gonna hit then maybe you can get them in get them in there or you can when forbes is in the game or content is in for. Pj tucker those guys can shoot above the break three more than maybe you get brook lopez down on the dunker spot or posting up a little. Bit more me i. I understand what their plan was and also worth noting that the created this plan for james harden being available right and so maybe they. They've probably felt like we can't just totally outscore. These guys we gotta kind of do the opposite and like get them in foul trouble and bludgeon them entire them out and all that stuff and so maybe now they can adjust to be like no. We gotta get a little more offense on the floor here. We don't think these guys can score on us at a crazy rate so if we just if we can just score competently. That's all we need and we can win the series so hopefully they will have a different plan a little bit of with hardened being out in terms of the rotation and wherever when standing what type of plays they're running etcetera so yeah the nets still absolutely can win the series like you. I would favor the bucks going forward but in you. Don't let me down to zero. If you're the we'll walkie box right like that's they eat again and winning four six difficult the knit. The nets are capable opponent and the other huge factor that. It didn't really come in. Because steve nash at one point didn't want it to but not only are the net susceptible to another injury but also foul trouble for for any of their important players would be huge prop now carry. Doesn't he's not often. He doesn't necessarily but durant especially now that he has to do more in a help capacity there are gonna be. I think there could be one or two games that sway in this series because he gets in foul trouble and they just either he falls out or they just can't handle it But so so. I'm knocking on this game unless you have. Anything else The key stretch of the game eighty six nets are kind of in control and a key player. In the game it's eighty six eighty janas gets fouled. Mrs both free throws pat counts goes for the free throw. Offense rebound takes himself completely out of position and as a result kyrie irving just gets a wide open corner. Three often missed free. Throw nine point game. Jaanus then tries to drive. Nick claxton just loses it. And then they get that sweet kyri lefty past and transition to sham it for a dunk on holiday. I didn't know it had that in by the way No i didn't either Lopez gets two free throws with the katie fall in the post and then katie went to work. drove past. janas tucker is out of the game at this point. You honestly guarding him. I thought we're going to see honest. Katie from the beginning. And i think it became pretty clear why we didn't because katie at thought really struggled with ghana's maybe that are sorry honestly struggled katy which i think maybe that'll change but so katie drives by. He hit just cold blooded score floater over both yonathan lopez then the box and draymond. Green actually tweeted about this. Like you can't just put you on us and pick and roll. It's too easy to defend in the postseason. This is kind of an example of that where y- the pick and roll hayler. they're trying to just. I think it was teague trying to set a screen forum and jeff teague standing at the dotted line. Trying to screen for like. You're not gonna. it gets landry. Shamet there but like what. What are you gonna do. If you're jeff teague like okay now you just created a double team like jeff everywhere to roll. He's not gonna pop out to the three point line from the dow lion so youngsters drills are on drills on nothing happens and then he just backs up and shoots it three which mrs and then keady gets ripped through on the honest gets two free throws the we should talk about that challenge just briefly. Oh yes yes. so originally. They called they called a foul on. They called a foul on brook lopez. And is that correct. Yeah they yeah they called you over the backbreaker free throws for would have been two free throws for katy which you presumably would have made and they did not rule it a foul on durant which would have been his fifth instead they ruled it a jump ball and then the bucks bucks won the jump ball. I actually thought it wasn't a bad challenge Although i was surprised at the way it was overturned because those loose ball scrum ones. It's kinda hard to overturn. But they did. They said it was no foul on anybody but they could potentially gotten a fifth line katie and they did at least wipe two points out the board but then janas travels on a side pick and roll of going in the claxton in ogden. Put the ball down quickly enough then. Katie gets ripped through on two free throws drew. Holiday missed the layup but she had a bunch of pretty decent looks going through their small guards that he just couldn't convert and then that sick katie eyeso- on yoenis for three puts the next up sixteen and the bucks never really threatened much after that I mean that ice. Oh and that three. I was just going nuts in the cast for that. I mean that is just like janas contesting it. As hard as you can contest it and kiddie just like sticks at writing as grill..

"You just can't do it you have you have the you have. The luxury of two elite rim protectors also and yes. They played really well together. I thought there were some points when yonathan broke out there like that created real trouble for brooklyn because they would like you know. Bb navigating one in the honest honest. Gotta gotta deflections or a blah. He had credit for two blocks in this game but having the both of them is not as valuable as having one of them on the floor at all times so obviously. There are a few things that i think both teams they can clean up and some things that are just gonna crew generally to the bucks advantage once again the three point shooting and the bucks are going to have games probably shoot forty five percent from three in this series and in those games. It's going to be very difficult for the brooklyn nets to keep up. You would think obviously the minutes. The fatigue level particularly given the amount that kevin durant had to battle physically in this game. You just wonder how much how long in this series he can continue to do that. Yeah i mean when he was going after brooke when he was trying to defend brook lopez on when the when the bucks were on the defensive glass. And then you've got coming down the other way and tried to take shots like that so and you know katie. Potentially getting in foul trouble is something that could happen as well. The bucks had fourteen turnovers. I don't think they are going to turn the ball over that many times although janas has been extremely turnover prone in his bad playoff games. I think that was a big part of his own and talk about the key. Stretch is wall work. Katie really just gave it to us at the end of the third quarter where the nets built their lead and basically ended the game. Only eight turnovers for the nets. They do a lot of writing now they do when you send help or they get into the lane. They do do a great job moving the ball and setting up three pointers. That's probably an underrated aspect of this team. But another thing that i thought was fascinating in this game was transition and the box actually were had a very very high percentage of their possessions in transition and they were just absolutely terrible at converting whether it was turnovers the bucks always run. But they're actually not that efficient of a transition team historically in part because they run for threes a lot. Obviously when you're missing your threes that makes your transition stats. Look pretty bad and this was an exceedingly fast. Game to maybe. That's part of the thinking with bruno's whether he's gonna rust his guys more in the first half because he really rusted is more in the first half aghanistan played seventeen minutes of the first half and that they were going to outlast the nets but unfortunately there was no last five minutes of the game that mattered for them to outlast them in but And i think actually playing faster in this game at least i don't know if this will continue was better for the nets because they hit threes and they got more plays in transition. The bucks defense is so good at protecting the rim so the nets getting to the basket could occur more in transition. Just they couldn't load their defense as much. And then i thought also that the bucks in the first half particularly when they were getting pretty good shots less so in the second half that they really let the nets off the hook with some early threes bad threes like prolly europe. They took eighteen three in the first half. I would say maybe like seven or eight of those were just like feet not sad quick release and that's how they played they wanna play fast. I get it but against this team. I think that you can work for something better And so that's something to consider as well. I do think though there's some some more things that the nets can do to create advantages against the box. One of those things is they really run that much. Pick and roll at brook lopez or bobby portis with katie and carry. Portis gets out on the floor and double teams and usually. He's out there with a group that can't really not some their best athletes. They can't really fly around that much. So anytime you're gonna get double team anytime. You run a pick and roll bobby portis like that's pretty good do more of that. Now you can work the ball around and your main guys don't have to work that hard on those possessions to greet and edge and then broke lopez. Obviously as he's not leaving the paint for any reason basically at one point they tried to get him further on the floor but not much of that so k. d. in particular i think playing pick and roll and just the nets screeners got it just and they started doing this in the second halves. Mention gotta just set better screens against pj tucker in particular and to just get katie. The separation because it's not about slipping out of their enrolling the rim for your advantage. It's hard screen and just get katie. One on one against brook lopez. And he's just going to shoot a seventeen footer right in his face every time So the and also screening more off ball screening for joe harris with whoever lopez's guarding. I think that could be really effective as well. that that's something that they can go to particularly if they're not gonna play corinne katie for the entire game basically Anything else you got. In terms of like potential adjustments. I'm happy you brought up the screening and the katie stuff. That was something we. We talked about a lot. In terms of an of an improvement. I think in other games. They'll probably need to go to andrei a little bit. I thought blake played very well overall. Oh yanking four of nine threes to for to be able to stretch out to the three point line and make them be a credible threat. I thought was huge but to have another option in case. That's not working in case we see some more of first-half The second now. I think clarkson a lot of the improvements that have been. We'll continue But i i think that there there could potentially be a place for him in this series. And i think the long the waiting because i don't think i mean the last time i remember the last time i really watched got extended minutes deondraye when i was watching. I didn't look completely. I mean it's played basically since those games in milwaukee over month ago and i thought that mike james gave them some nice energy. We'll have to see that. Goes like you could see his defensive limitations come to the forefront like i think the challenge in many ways for steve nash is going to be understanding like which of his other guys make sense in that moment and i thought that the other thing that they that the nets did really well in the late part of the game that they get the other part where they put the dagger in was getting moving the ball round and trying to have it find joe harris which actually i think that relates to something that the bucks can do better which is threat identification. Which is there. It isn't always necessarily run around run around hope that every hope that everybody gets covered. If you're guarding the other baby the best catching shoot guy in the league. Sometimes maybe wanna concede the other shot to a guy who's a little bit more limited and make sure that joe harris doesn't get the easiest shot that he can make i. I agree with you on that. The bucks how can they just take teague out of the rotation completely. And i certainly wouldn't want him to be out there when kyrie is out there. Although you also run the the potential risk of getting involved to with kevin durant. I might try to stagger him and portis and they only have one point guard..

"But i mean it's hard to imagine he can be a factor in this series at this point going forward so you felt like at the game like played thirty minutes a game he played in. He didn't play a ton of minutes. Necessarily all those remember he was coming back. He barely played in the end of the hawks regular season before the playoffs and then got a week off because the hawks were high enough in the seating that they didn't they didn't need to play in the plan. So yeah that was really deflating. Solomon hill started in his place and through the meat of the game. I i mean. I i just kept on thinking myself like. How could this other than injuries. How could this be more disastrous for the sixers. I mean the early part of the game. I don't think they do this kind of master class because it's a it's a good product but it was a masterclass on how not to defend trae young like they were just the the volta to failures that they had of giving him shots or like. My favorite one was dwelling bead moving. So was i think it was towards the end of the first quarter. Joel embiid basically conceded the floater. Then trae young didn't take it. Then he moves over an trae young lobster tickling cappella. Where's like he got both things. It wasn't like you. You take away anything and trae had had a thirty five and ten game and he missed some shots toya twenty five in the first half to which was get sick one of i mean this is supposedly a good six. I mean the flirted with being the number one defense. It is a good sixty fence. But i in trae young destroyed them absolutely completely destroyed them in the first half with twenty five points six assists or something to do but he was just controlling. Absolutely everything i mean. He just no answer no plan. Most of them were white. Oh and thirteen twenty three from three in the first half but and i will say bogdanovich vich ended up five twelve from three and he hit a cold-blooded one at the end which is The the rest of it was not cold blooded for the hawks at the end that was and he hit two just like on the move. Quick guns where. I was the one that from the new york series or i was like i mean. I guess he's been hitting these last couple months but like these are awful shots. But he's making him and he was doing it at the expense of benson's we'll talk about the match ups obviously too but it was just an absolute tour de force of offense a basketball watching trae young go to work in that first half and now of course a big part of it also occurred a. You're right there just so many things that went wrong with the sixers. It guess the trae young is who they put out. They put danny green autumn and danny green. Maybe not even five years ago. Maybe danny green in twenty fourteen would have been indecent matchup for trae young and i guess the thinking was that they wanted to have simmons guard bogdonovich. And they're just gonna. You comes off a screen. If you're john. Serious told. Ben simmons because on the first plays over help and conceded open threes devotion to mcdonald's like ben simmons and if joel embiid were not play so okay we really need supplemental rim protection. Even though the hawks don't you know like they they have collins and they have cappella guys to attack it simmons light. It was driving me completely crazy like a you could at certain moments. I mean yes. He was an important part of their success. But i couldn't tell whether he was failing to see whether he was failing to execute news freelancing and just being like okay. Like i just got to try to be disruptive but i'm gonna do all this stuff or whether they just had it completely trash game plan i it could be either. I'm genuinely unsure but one of those two things in those because there were so many situations where you would see somebody who is like limited in other ways or you'd see them you'd see the sixers conceding something you're like. The hawks are a very good team. But you don't have to get everything like you could take these things the way they have this of wonderful defensive talent and before i mean so. That's one thing. These like massive defensive failure at the beginning of the game and full credit to trae young. He was playing phenomenally and sure. Let me say. More on danny green. Danny green is the fourth bust option to defend trae young on this team. I would say. It's ben simmons either george hill matisse libel two and three and then danny green as number four and a lot of their scheme ended up looking bad because danny green was just too slow to direct the ball where it was supposed to go and so trays rejecting a bunch of screens blowing by guys into the lane. Or he's just one on one even before the screen gets there crossing over creating separation. He hit some deep threes. Which are i mean. Just fucking six shots like. Let's let's be honest. But like danny green just is not quick enough to even like what are you talking about staying with trae young. I've talking about just like keeping him on a certain side of the floor. And he's a veteran. He knows what he's supposed to be doing. He just was not able to execute that against trey and then trait here. The first couple of floors that trae hit were pretty difficult shots but then they started really getting easy and he's also just unbelievable passer like their if and this goes back to joel embiid as well who maybe is limited by the benifits. Maybe not i think. He's one of the best defensive players in the nba during the regular season. But they don't have an answer for trae young because he has to be a coverage and they tried blitzing in the in the second half and kind of worked a little bit better..

"Big huge game. The game seven looked like it was shaping up like it could be a classic as the mavs surge into an eighty one seventy six lead in the third and then all of a sudden the clippers go on a devastating twenty one to two run and the mavs never really were able to threaten after that and I wanna just you. And i i did the solo for the cast today. You and i haven't talked about this at all. So i was just curious and wanted to know like what some of your big picture thoughts were having watched us games as we haven't talked about it at all so i thought that the clippers continued something that had been true for a lot of the series where they were forcing the mavericks into a very difficult choice. Either quite leonard is going to kinda get his get to get to the get his spots. Or you're going to concede really good looks to their support players in certain situations if your defense spat enough you can see both and what was profoundly different from this game. Then i was game sex. I could be wrong. It was five. But i believe it was six. Is that not universally. But in a larger proportion than previously those support players made their shots. And so marcus morris who had an absolutely brutal go of it in and it was game six. By the way you're thinking of where only reggie jackson wine. Paul georgia tech morris one of ten in game six. And i wouldn't say that his looks were significantly better in seven but he was eight. Five seven of nine from three took some of them confidently. Reggie jackson was three of eight. Yeah that's what it was. The the confidence really glad you said that because hitting his first couple made him start to hunt that shot because he was passing upshots and he did that a couple times in this game where he stepped in for a missed long to And he actually was only one six onto pointers but seven nine from three in this game. But yeah i mean he. He was fantastic. Just hitting shots also registered. Yeah and like terrence. Mann had a big first half where i be. It looks like he wasn't even you wasn't necessarily intended to be part of it but that was that was is worst. Gotten foul trouble if memory serves and yeah that was pretty huge Because he actually was doing a pretty. Good job on luca. When you get switched on then luca dean scream. And actually i talked about was how incredible lucas in this game but those dallas support players they and a couple of times they did a nice job on the offensive glass. I wanna talk about during pretty smith's night on the offensive glass as well later but those shots were available largely throughout the series and intermittently even rondo took and made an open three like you can kind of see it throughout canard had some good moments which was weird enough in and of itself. Good moments meeting each shots taken. Some of them when not like he was doing. Brilliant things out there but that that made life so much easier for the clippers they ended up with a one thirty four offensive rating sixty eight percent shooting. Remember like this was y- i mean in the first half like lucas. Set the world on fire. And they were still down because the clippers work or anything they were twenty four of thirty eight from the field in the first half your particularly in the first quarter when luke go with three three pointers that and ended up five eleven. But a a number of those. Were kinda gunned late. Lucas stats with a little bit better. Superficially 'cause the last two minutes or so he was kinda letting them score a little bit and obviously he was amazing with forty five points. But yeah i mean those support guys hitting the threes and the mavs support guys missingham in luke who was five eleven finish. Smith was wonderful for seven and porzingas over five and hardaway was one for nine hardaway. Had this weird like foot sprain looking type of thing. When he came down from jumper went to the locker room came back ended up. playing forty. Three minutes looked like he was moving product. I don't know exactly what happened to him. But it didn't seem to hamper his movement but he obviously didn't shoot very well and they also were just struggling to find any kind of guard playoff and i wanna talk about that got worked but not but not before we now before we talk about. Yeah well yeah well and also talk about Leonard as well but yeah so. Luca comes out and what we said in game six was that he just couldn't get the separation he just didn't have the energy and it takes you know it doesn't look like he's moving that fast but it takes just a lot of strength to accelerate and then decelerate and accelerate again. That's that's what his game is. That takes a lot of like potion and he didn't have that in game six and i'm like well how's he going to have that in game seven on a thirty six hour turnaround basically but he did right at the start and and why on him he was able to get some switches goes more ara nipah tomb. Go after some of the guards. As well turned the corner even had so much juice that he was like kawai at times. He's got the step back working from three n. He's got nineteen points in the first quarter and they're down or they're up three but again. That's because the clippers guys were making all their shots and the mavs guys weren't really and so that was a big disappointment for dallas. At the time. I was like well. Dallas is really playing them. But you just the way. They faded largely in second halves in this series particularly as the series has gone on was a cause for concern that ended up being a problem so in coed kept pace with thirteen of his own in the first and then he actually doesn't score in the second and the clippers outscore and thirty five twenty four with guys like morris making shots turns man hits a couple of threes in the first half one of them was even like a nice like sidestep dribble fly. By which you didn't think that turns ban really had that in his game if he if he becomes a rival three point shooter like he's going to be an awesome. He's going to be like a better version of patrick beverley at his peak because he's just bigger and more athletic and what and something. Sorry something want mention god in that first. Quarter as a score. He did lucas most of his damage on jump shots which was really. I mean when lucas truly his jumper. It's just spellbinding. Because so many other parts of his game and then there were other moments later on like there was one in the fourth quarter where luca posted up..

"We've been able to do some live scouting but not like in a normal year. Probably fifty percent of our time is spent on the road in a live scouting for sure. I definitely imagine the everyone's job especially for for scouts. Got the past Mine tire schedule is going to be on a plane right is traveling is visible these arenas as thinking okay. I can hit this on this road trip on this team. This team's i'd only to our flights do that one instead of a four hour flight on kind of that's like the whole that's the whole game behind. It should obviously not messing with much. Nc double or anything like that. It's all maybe pro. Based did you kind of try to in terms of being a scout. Meeting centered around team going. Maybe he's trying to see the teams that the clippers play if you how does that. That's a difference. She is that what you're talking about is an advance scout. An advance scout has to kind of stay two or three games ahead of the posse and that's an extra no job at it. Okay you know. And and he's he's working closely with the assistant coaches on plays and play calls and strategy and all that stuff a personnel scout is concerned involved with personnel. You know who's playing well what you know what players fit with our team with our coach with our culture and trying to get intel on players Just knowing the league is from a personnel standpoint inside and out As best you can using your contacts in your people that you know around the league to to help get information players. It's so interesting. What you do is so cool and you're doing it for for a team really fun to watch the baby. Something's wrong The best shooting team from three and from the line ever. so yeah. there's going on there. And i really can't wait to see it. Progress made while the plaster a week two weeks three weeks That run go of course much further than match up coach. Your diplomatic games to watch ali. i on right now. How might be halftime. Maybe the lead soon or whatever. It might be a gift to get back to. It's a fake so much for joining the show. I definitely appreciate taking the time. Mid season tickets to come on and talk about them all all the great things you're doing now and hopefully we could see in the future.

"You end up. Getting to the bulls won that all look like a young team at the time. Now i was a fluke. You know there's nothing i pursued. I was working in the summers in chicago. For a guy named tim grover. He had a business called attack. Athletics work with nba players. Mostly in the summertime. And i was happened to be in chicago when the bulls video coordinator was a friend of mine. He called me and said hey look. They just hired a new coach and he's interviewing play development directors. You know would you be interested and assure you know and it's nothing that i ever fired to do but also i just got lucky and got hired in So that was it but it was nothing that i ever really aspired to be all wanted to do. Was really in. California was I being a junior college coach in california. It'd be great because it's very competitive out here with the ju- coz i played yuko. I love the junior college thing out in california. That's all. I kinda really wanted to do that. I just kind of ended up in this kind of a fluke tribal kind of thinking about that story right in just not really chasing it but obviously the passions all around basketball. It just sort of happened that way. I was also funny. What you brought up tim grover. His company called athletics. Not was the train for the best player in the world. Or anything of all time or anything like that just made pasta. Maybe one of the greatest trainer. Nope anybody you know if your listeners know who he is but he's just a terrific first of all he's he's very very smart. If you've read his books on you followed him you know what. What a bright guy. He is but he was kind of on the cutting edge of strength and conditioning for players. Michael went to him after getting beat up by the pistons and he. He searched out any found tim because he needed to get stronger. And it kind of went from there. You know michael to kobe and dwayne wade and all of the guys he's ad so he's great to my in my opinion of what he does. He's the best in the world. Say it works a little bit and you know it's not just strength edition and stuff with him. The guy knows basketball. He played division one basketball. He knows basketball and the way he got guys to work and best thing about tim was he always told them the truth. Always you know. He didn't care if it pissed him off but he was always going to tell them as what he thought was the truth. It was a great experience. Just you know working those few summers with him. Oh definitely and then Thinking about maybe transitioning of then. You're with the clippers. When you first got there was kind of the same thing you're doing with the bulls that things change was similar. Well what happened. Was that the coach. That i hired me that i worked for vinny. Del negro we. We got fired by the bulls and in right away within a month. He was hired by the clippers and He basically called me. Said we're going to la. I said all right. Let's go after we got fire by the bulls eye was going back to california to teach high school again. I was just going to go back and resume my teaching and he gets hired. And we we get hired by the clippers and we came and that was the summer that The blake was his rookie year..
How the Rockies Became the Hottest Mess in Baseball
"The rockies are playing like a team that just lost its best player as we record this. They have the worst record in baseball as bad as their record. Or is that number even a little bit deceptive the rockies are losing an very old timey kind of way. they're the old fashioned kind of bad team. They are like the new jersey devils of the nineteen eighties or the la clippers of the nineties. Or there like the cleveland browns of this century. They are not trying to lose. They're losing despite themselves. It's not the sort of cynical cost cutting that leads to teams losing now. They're the old kind of bad teams where they sort of bad building the baseball team and and it's starting to catch up to them in a way. I find this to be almost comforting. That it's still possible to have so many things. Just go wrong that you end up being the worst team in baseball so pure pure. That's good we're for is very pure. It's it's very clear that these owners has no one's learning lessons here. They are just sort of plowing ahead. Will rockies ever win with these people in charge. It's a really good question. Let me argue for them. I okay this is a team that made the playoffs twice in a row despite some serious disadvantages the rockies. Play at the least predictable ballpark. In all of baseball coors field is very difficult to tame is tougher pitchers but they seemed to have solved that problem. They developed a pitching rotation. That was the best in their history and they pitched their way to back to back playoff appearances on the flip side however they turned a playoff team in to one of the worst teams baseball in less than a year. They have made soling mistakes even within the last five years. It's very difficult to see them. Being the people who eventually turned this team around

Leonard, Clippers bounce back with 109-99 win over Mavericks
"The LA clippers down the Dallas Mavericks one oh nine ninety nine so the clippers bounce back from a twenty point loss the night before New Orleans and remain the only unbeaten team in the second game of back to backs in the NBA they're now seven oh now suffer only their fourth loss in last sixteen games clippers with seven players in double figures led by Kawhi Leonard with twenty two well look at Donte chatter triple double for the mass twenty five points sixteen assists ten rebounds Kristofferson has sent a twenty two Tim Hardaway junior twenty one Bob Stevens Dallas
Doc Rivers out as Clippers' coach, after seven seasons
"The LA clippers parting ways with head coach dot servers yesterday. Some would say it was inevitable after the way they collapsed against Denver many had this team winning the title. Don't even get to the conference finals doc did issue a statement yesterday thanking the fans and calling it eight disappointing end to this season are nick after seven seasons. Doc Rivers out as clippers head coach surprised the team made this decision. Surprised it took them a week or two weeks almost I. Felt like it was either going to be immediate or it wasn't going to happen. But while everyone respects dock and everyone likes dock and everyone's going to focus on the three one series loss third the most the only coach ever with more than one. Here's I. Think the biggest. Indictment on Doc rivers, not just this year but his with the clippers. And people aren't going to believe this but I promise it's true. Frank Vogel has won as many playoff series with the Lakers as doc rivers one with the clippers. Thing about that. So it wasn't just one year of underachieving, it was a better part of a decade of underachieving. and. So the question is, will the clippers get a better coach I don't know if they will. Tie lose going to be the obvious thing. We can talk more about that later but Jonah the real reason they did this in my opinion is because they were stuck like the brandon they don't have a good secondary pitch here they I know you would said, keep collide dock and Paul George and blow the rest of the team. I don't know if the rest of the team has that much value I think the only real shake-up you could do is trade Paul George whose values the lowest it's ever been or fire the coach I don't know that they had another way to shake the snow Globe Brandon. So I think they made the changer not for the sake of change, but because they had to change something and this was almost the only move they could do.
NBA Players, Owners Meet To Discuss Plan Of Action
"Get back on track WHOA Jeez here. Thankfully to tell us what might happen here. Obviously, it's a fluid situation Adrian. I. Guess. The first thing we want to ask you is, what are we expecting today like what is going to happen today meeting Liz I have no idea what's going to happen today guys yesterday was. A remarkable day and one that I don't think any of us who cover the NBA. WHO Who've covered sports and and in my generation Bo forget but to set the table for today. The players having eleven am meeting here in the bubble. And the owners have a board of governors call at the same time. I'm pulled eleven am obviously that'll be done virtually and so simultaneously, those two groups we'll be meeting and the players. I think after a night, it was an emotional day. It was an emotional meeting they had. With most of the players in the bubble coaches were there last night there came a point where? The players asked the coaches to leave so they could hash it out amongst themselves. The teams I was told broke up into groups. and then they're going to continue that conversation this morning but I mean what's at stake is simply This season and are the players as a group going to decide to move forward. Continue the playoffs by all indications that the three games that are scheduled today. Not. Going to be played, the League hadn't officially. announced it but every indication we got in the last night regardless of what they decide moving forward that those three games later in the day. Wouldn't be played, but the players have more to work through and talk through. And consider a lot of different. Consider a lot of different scenarios. And and ultimately consequences of what it would mean to shut this bubble down. You're there in the bubble woes and you could get and I just WanNa know like what is what's the feeling is like does feel like NAM empty and just spooky and? What's that feeling like? I. Think the last several days keyshawn. and. You could feel a building you could watch on I think you guys could watch. On television and and read what people are saying and see. The interviews with George Hill and Fred Van Vliet. and. The emotion that players were carrying. Since the shooting of Jacob Blake earlier. In the week. And how that resonated not just all over the country. But here. and. On top of the emotion and Guys have been here a long time and it wears on you and guys miss families guys feel. At times like their captive in this place it I get it. It's a resort like I. Don't mean to. It is a resort and I get it and. All of us are lucky to be able to work. In, this country right now and a lot of people can't but there is a cumulative effect about being away this long. And you add on top of that. the horrific nature of that shooting. Another in a series of them in years of decades. Of them a century of them and so. data impacted this place at impacted those inside. And It was a domino effect yesterday of once. The bucks made the decision to knock him out of the locker room and not play. And then how it impacted the other teams and lead to that meeting last night that was pretty rot times. The to La teams the LA clippers. The Lakers have two of the hour say most powerful voices in professional sports in Genie Boston. Steve, bomber what type of influence can they have on the rest of the NBA owners to get something done in favor of the players? It's a good question I think the question is. And I think what the players Were spending last night doing. And and previously, it's been an ongoing conversation here. But is there something and and I and I know in the meeting last I a lot of players. Disgusted I know CJ mccollum was who's an executive on the players committee or on the on the Executive Committee of the Players Association. mccomb the Blazers Jaylen Brown the Celtics war leaders. in the Union and top players in league talked about having a plan of action and the bucks in the locker. Room. In those hours after that they after they decided not to play. Working with their own ownership in Milwaukee to get on the phone the Attorney General of the Lieutenant Governor in Wisconsin to talk about ways to move forward. To try to impact. that. Particular case. In in their state in Kenosha. And so you saw players already beginning to do that yesterday now. How does that continue today? What what players are asking themselves I know what organizations are asking players when they got back to the rooms. Last my back to the hotels. What is the endgame if we don't play? One is that what is it that we wanNA accomplish outside of the bubble outside of this environment outside of the platform that you have right now to play. play NBA Games and speak to the world through. Through this. What does that look like and so I think that's all going to be part of the conversation today with the players and with the owners if they kinda reconnect after those two meetings.
Coronavirus Impact on the Food Industry: Cameron Mitchell Restaurants CEO
"Joining us right now on the topic of small business and what he's seeing is Cameron Mitchell. He's the founder and CEO of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, which owns nearly sixty establishments across the United States and Cameron. It's great to see you. It's been a while since we've spoken good morning break plagiary back with you today. So. The first time we talked to you was in the midst of the shutdown when all of your restaurants had been closed down and you laid out a plan for what you were hoping to see. Two weeks ago on March third, I was in Washington DC to meet with my bankers and I expressed them what a great start year we had were up seven percent same store sales record profitability for the first two months of the year. This was March third tomorrow I believe March Eighteenth we will be completely shut down I laid off forty, two hundred people on Monday. The last time we talked to you things we're looking pretty good business was was back and was booming. I think we're going to survive, but it's going to be a while before we get to the hospital we expect to be open in hopefully back to full employment by the end of June or into or end of July somewhere in that neighborhood. So what's happening right now? The best way equate it to is we're in a hurricane in the first. Landfall, the hurricane was back in March fifteenth and. It was is detrimental as it was terrible. It's was We end up getting the money and we're able to get out and get open and it was a lifeline. We would not be here today if it wasn't for the original P P P loan and June came and sales, we're doing pretty good. We're about seventy five percent of last year sales were feeling very optimistic and and when I came to realize is we are really just in the eye of the storm and then July the beginning July head and and the case counts rising. Across the country and met, metropolitan. Areas Rolling back opening guidelines and in further restrictions on our business and sales fell down to now fifty percent of last year and that is just not sustainable. So here we are today you know August second and I feel just as nervous about the future as I did back in the beginning of March when Corona virus was coming over the horizon. So we're looking for a second round of P P P to help us get through the other side and and help us sustain for the future so. And the thing that we're hearing mostly Congress is about the stimulus checks, the unemployment but there are thousands and thousands of businesses like ours out there in the country they're hurting terribly at fifty percent decline a forty percent decline sales we cannot survive. We're losing between five, hundred thousand and a million dollars a month, and we need the additional P P P dolorous in a in a terrible way and you know the the curb puzzle is for a two million dollar cap on that which. last time was ten million dollars and so for a company like ours and many others that reduction of eight million dollars just when we need it, the most is is very difficult for us. Camera now is the decline in your business coming mostly because states or local municipalities have have forced you to not open as much into close things down or much of the decline is coming from people who Are, afraid to go out what and how would you measure that a difference while it's both clearly when you have a reduction in capacity from use spell. "Toronto's star that's interesting. You're telling me that the rods a winner. Lose this NBA championship fans aren't going to be upset if Kawai leaves after the season to me, I would look at it like this. He hasn't pretended to hasn't said. I'm gonna stay right. Is that I want to be here. He hasn't said, I don't want to be here, what he said is, I'm going to give you everything I got. And you have like you can't really ask for much more than gimme thirty points tonight and Garganas Kunpho, and like carry this team through three rounds of play offs. Even though you're limping on one leg then limp and on the other like you can't really ask for any more of this. And if you talked to raptors behind the scenes, they talk about, like leadership is something, we overrate a lot in sports, but these guys are following Leonard. The reason this team doesn't panic is not because of Kyle Lowry is because two white Leonard literally tells them guys, don't panic. It'll be fine like they play like the game as long. They don't worry about going down in games. They were down double figures in the last two games of the Milwaukee series, and he just he has an absolute hold over the team. But he's never pretended to be anything other than a guy. Who's here for year? And if you decided to say and he decides to stay, and if you go, it'll be because he wants to go live in California, where he's from let on much. Can you really get mad at that? Let's say Toronto win the title. Let's say that Toronto pulls off one of the biggest upsets we've seen in the NBA finals. What do you think? Bruce Arthur Toronto Star happens with a Kawhi and happens with basketball in Canada. Not basketball in Toronto basketball Canada. If he pulls off the upset. The thing about let's say they do win title, I don't know. And I don't think anybody knows whether that matters to him in terms of his future because I think it would probably tell Kawhi Leonard did he can win with anybody. Right. Like you can go to LA clippers. And maybe I don't know. Jimmy Butler goes there with them or somebody, and they go ahead and win in a place where he can walk around outside every day. There's, there's no indication through all of these moments like he was legitimately emotional in the trophy presentation after game six you could hear it in his voice. It's the first time I've ever seen it from him. But I don't know if that is separate or together with how he feels about Toronto as a workplace right? Like, I honestly think that this guy this guy walked away from how many millions to walk away from San Antonio. I don't I think he wants what he wants, and none of us know exactly a hundred percent what he wants all this can't hurt but it doesn't necessarily help in terms of basketball and Canada. Okay, let's say he leaves Pasquale Ceac comes, you knew max guy..

"Convincing game one victory. More kester. Sure. John berry called the game on ESPN radio game. One in the win column for the Golden State Warriors, the clippers were scrappy in the first half Steph curry at the end of the first half extended that lead to double digits, and he ends up becoming the all time three point shooter in NBA playoff history. Yeah. He was sensational. The night. I mean and throw in fifteen rebounds for the point guard. He really did set the tone for the team, and it was a slow start for both teams. I remember Golden State's in ten points with six minutes to go in the first quarter. And they find up going on a crazy run thirty six seventy points in the first half. And they turn the ball over twenty one times. That's a really scary thought if your Doc Rivers in the LA clippers that they can put up one hundred twenty one points and turn it over twenty one times. So how do you come back that if you're LA you can't turn it over nineteen times? That's twenty two points for the Golden State Warriors. A lot of those live ball turn. Oh vers turn into twos. Uncontested twos. Uncontested threes. And it gets going state. You simply cannot do that two guys for the clippers today did most of the scoring Lou Williams mantras herald fifty one off the bench, if you're the Golden State Warriors and you're looking at making this a short series. You know, what are you doing against us guys? Yeah. Well, I think they didn't contain the basketball very well for a lot of parts of this game. But as Andrea dollar told us, they did a much better job in the second half and particularly on Lou Williams, but you had to stop dribble penetration. Because that's how mantras hail gets his stuff. He's gonna find nooks and crannies to get in and catch and finish. But if you stop the dribble penetration. I think you can stop mantras Herrell, and Lou Williams, it'll be fascinating to Patrick Beverley and Kevin Durant. Got a couple of technicals got the heave ho and we'll see if that matchup is alive and well for game two on Monday night here at the oracle ten eastern on ESPN radio game. One goes to the warriors won twenty one one four over the clippers for John Barry, I marquess show right here on your home for the NBA ESPN radio and the ESPN app state of proves to sixteen in one in game. "State Warriors win game one of their first round series over the LA clippers tonight one twenty one to one of four game that was punctuated by double objections. Kevin durant? Patrick Beverley both jetted in the fourth quarter of Golden State. So when each receiving two pairs of technical fouls for repeatedly jawing at each other. We'll call it that ESPN NBA analyst Ryan Holland's is with us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Let's let's start with that incident. Talking about the game as a whole here in a second. What did you make of Durant V Beverly, and I guess more? Specifically the way the official in that instance, immediately Chuck them both. Understand. It was the right call and why are the game got a hand? Golden State was up by about fifteen or so points. And what happens is you don't want anything to escalate ultimately, I know Patrick Beverley I really watched him all season all in. That's what he does he jumped up very quickly and sometimes the referee. Wait may assume that they you know, may go to blows or an altercation could happen, but it was not the just friendly jawing entirely in essentially between the two, but the referee standpoint, you're always always better safe than sorry. When that happens, right? There's this feeling of inevitability amongst NBA fans at the warriors are going to get back to the finals and win. It is that save feeling of inevitability there within NBA locker rooms. Yeah. It is. It is still really hard to go against him. But Mark my words when I tell you this you're going to be the hardest road ever to an NBA championship. If the warriors win this year, they had their hands full here. Mine out after the clippers clippers a lot better than they played tonight. I believe that game two is gonna be absolute dogfight if you couldn't take any indicator in Patrick deadly jump it up and Kevin Durant state. They see the rockets of the second round, then that could be Oklahoma City or San Antonio's. Carried off conducted stakes just by pagans advice, fillings. The follow ancient conference could be no pushover band is going to be a a hobbled the brawn team that essentially come up the east. You know, you're you're gonna have to champion coming up the Eastern Conference. So if they win it this year hands down, this is going to be the toughest road that they've ever had speaking of the Eastern Conference. We had to upsets today, it seems like there could be mayhem during the Eastern Conference playoff runs is this conference the Milwaukee Bucks to lose. I don't think. So I think it's the Boston Celtics to lose. Honestly, you know, what it's all said and done a talent becomes a wash carving is the best closer in the Eastern Conference and on the money on the line that that's who I'm betting on you know, in in obviously, everybody's have their troubles. I'm obviously looks like a lot of Philadelphia's nonsense caught up with him today. You know, their inconsistencies kind of lack of ball movement lack of continuity or really cut up with them against the nets. And the one thing that state if they you know, give them credit the next threw a curve ball back at them. And what I mean by that, you know, just sat down on the bench, and they went Spalding kind of buddy things up and really attacks. Philadelphia put them on their hills. ESPN NBA analyst Ryan Helen's, our guests on the shell Pennzoil performance line game ninety SPN radio ESPN app gave nights along with Gregg Scelzo and MO Egger with Philadelphia. Ryan, what do you think their identity is whose team is the Philadelphia seventy Sixers who should be that leader that pulls them back after a game one loss today to Brooklyn? Well, essentially, it's a be same. There's no question on that. He's the biggest on that team. Are you going to be the closer finisher? But it's always tough because Joel Embiid much like all big minute. Are he's going to be dependent on guard to give the basketball. And if the guard can't get them to basketball, he's going to be as effective, and you saw they were times or you know, they double triple team him. They swarmed him, and it's just really really hard. If not impossible to have success in today's NBA from playing out the post, so you've got to get some contributions from incidents. Ben Simmons can't scored under double figures for that team to be successful. Because you you literally don't have to guard him on the floor and the time that he scored is because they left them essentially wide open because they're double Joel Embiid or he gets up in transition. He's gotta be a factor. He's he's too good. Not to have a great series. And if he goes away, you're not gonna be too much left Philadelphia. Right. Let me ask you about the other team in the east. Lost at home today. Toronto. I I think people who who maybe just started paying attention because the playoffs started don't realize how good the magic word in the final twenty five thirty games of the season. They go on the road. They beat the raptors by three what holes did Orlando reveal in Toronto. Toronto's really struggled offensively. And the one thing that they do is they run a lot of offense through Colli, Leonard. What happened? There are moments where they end up getting really really stagnant. But I- Landau has the personnel that can play with anybody. I if you heard me this season at all quite comically. Our call them the best worst came basketball. And I call them that because they have literally beat the NBA's best personnel. I in talent level that can really play with anybody. And the problem is they just been inconsistent now late. They just got that good energy going because they had a spur little little spread if they put together to just to jump into into the playoffs in Toronto, quite frankly, really just let down the stress there wasn't anything really quite special that you saw out of. So you really just saw this kind of law or carryover from Toronto Raptors getting into the playoffs. Do I edge arlando over Toronto by L? But now we have a series. Ryan is much as we love the NBA action going on the court. One of the biggest stories is coming from off the court, and that's the Los Angeles Lakers. Just how big of a mess is this Lakers organization right now. Is a used. This is this is monumental a Los Angeles native in Dallas the worst season that I ever save in Lakers history. While I get the best player on the planet by the gloves that I know he's as I know he's older even with that talent level at the other guy underachieve as grossly as they did. It was enough was enough. And they gotta clean some things up. A lot of you know, me personally, it wasn't about the Xs and os. It was the culture and their culture was absolutely. It was toxic in it was horrible. And I know a lot of people like to jump in blade. Lebron James, but it started in their front office it trickled down to the coaching staff and a trickle down to the players, and it's not that anyone unit. One of those elements was horrible. If the fact that they didn't work together. Well, they certainly put a lot on Luke Walton as he exits l a he goes to Sacramento how much blame do you put on Luke Walton for the failures of the Lakers this season. You know what I do? Boy, luke. I do I'm not definitely gonna by. No means all of it. But there's a level that he he's the coach. You gotta hold guys accountable, and you're gonna die try it. You know what I'm saying dilute run? Good stuff was a system. Good. Yes. It was. But you know, his job was the motivate those guys, and they were automated. Now, the problem goes beyond moved because of Luke doesn't have the backing of his his president or his general manager or he's getting cut their or their agents of the players are hearing conflicting messages to players are going to tune out the coach, and you saw Luke Walton get tuned out on several occasions if those guys just barely absolutely quit on him. Talented to been there. It also had the record that they had over LA. So I Alta look through you know, the lack of synergy between the front office of the coaching staff to the players there. And you know, for example, San Antonio man, RCN Popper on one accord, the clippers, you know, doc, Frank Jerry, West all those guys work at unison. And you see the results on the court. Ryan fantastic stuff. We appreciate you spending part of your Saturday night with us. Thanks so much. Thanks for having me guys. You guys are killing it..

"And we pretty much now. No, the eighteen so we're going to be an evolved into Western Conference playoff picture. We just don't know where they will be. Here's ESPN Brian way north. Well, thanks to the Los Angeles, Lakers collapse. We no longer have to pay attention to the eighth place race in the Western Conference. But that does not mean that we are not paying attention to the standings. Because we have incredible final months set up here as we've got a real jockeying for position. And these standings are really going to matter in the west teams want to get a shot at the Denver Nuggets. The second youngest team in the league who has trouble with defense at times. And if they can get on that side of the bracket as opposed to the warriors a whole bunch of teams in the west think they can make a big just look at the San Antonio Spurs in LA clippers. They have easy schedules. Coming home both play the Cavs twice. It's not out of the role possibility that either of them could move up into the top four the jazz have a real favorable schedule as well. The thunder schedule is very difficult. They could fall from three all the way down to six or seven the Houston. Rockets are the league's hottest they're hunting for a top three seed to try to avoid the warriors in the second round. So that they could set up a potential rematch of the Western Conference finals. There's a whole lot going on tonight in the NBA. We talk about all of it on the hoop collective podcast in the ESPN app on apple podcasts or your favorite podcast app. Brian Windhorst check him out there. And yeah, the the Western Conference will be interesting now that we pretty much know the eight teams who are going to be an evolved. As Wendy said a Lakers of fallen out Sacramento would be the ninth team right now, they are three and a half back of San Antonio clippers in the Spurs will enter this Sunday sitting in number seven and eight respectively, a Utah rather is also in the tide. "We if we keep them in a half court said makeup play five on five get back in transition in our rebound. We'll have. All right. Good shot. Hopefully, the shots were fall as well. Like today's game. Thank you so much. David grace, the assistant coach for the bear says we mentioned a number of years under Steve Alford. He recruited all these guys here that are on the current roster. UCLA I asked David earlier today. I said, you know, what's going to be like? Are you walking into a place where was your office for five plus years? He's gonna be weird emotional. I know all the players know all the guys on the bench coaching as well. No. Cheers. I mean, everybody around here. So it's a little emotional for him. But the game to be played in the bears are going to have to play extremely well against a confident UCLA squad, very detailed and thorough scout yesterday, I mean, not you something you're gonna scout off the last four or five games. Have you see it's really the last four years and recruiting the skies knowing them and some of the things take away from the scout yesterday's practice, if the LA clippers facility is, you know, the guys on this team for UCLA, very talented. But they have a lot of gunners may have a lot of guys who will want to get theirs and that can play in your favor. If you're the bears now, bad news is there's a lot of guys on UCLA. They get hot they can get really hot and toss them in. But there guys who will look for their shots. And sometimes if they're not getting their shots. They'll figure out a way to force and get something done to their line. Can look good on stat book as well. Two things in that written scattered report that we were able to look at was one. Streaky. CLA shooting team. They're shooting with thirty three percent beyond the arc. That's not very good nowadays in college basketball. But streaky because there are guys Chris Wilkes Jalen hands. They can knocked out three or four or five when you least expect it and they'll shoot up from deep. I mean, be be well beyond the art and the other thing, but the phrase, I don't think I've ever seen court bridge is they're talking about Cody Riley, six nine to forty power forward. Kind of a guy. And the quote was he will punk you. I've never seen that he will punk. You David grace knows that he knows the personalities of these teams players that UCLA. So I thought that was an interesting phrase Todd were here to learn something new every day, and we do there's on the road at Pauley pavilion against you. You see L A Bruins the bears coming your way just a little bit past.
